Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

An official NASA video reveals the moment a bright UFO performs an impossible maneuver in space, right near the STS-114 mission.
Two and a half years after the tragic loss of Space Shuttle Colombia on February 2013, NASA had finally improved the safety measures and was ready to launch another mission intended to test the new technical characteristics and equipment.
On July 26, 2005, Space Shuttle Discovery was launched into space and was about to perform an almost two weeks journey on the outskirts of planet Earth. Its novel improvements were documented by a series of new and upgraded ground-based cameras, a radar system and airborne cameras aboard high altitude aircraft.
However, the STS-14 mission didn’t go without problems. After takeoff, analysts at NASA saw that a piece of foam had dropped from the external tank. After Commander Eileen Collins executed the first Rendezvous Pitch Maneuver, which literally flipped the shuttle over, crew members were able to take photographs of the underside of Discovery that immediately confirmed the alleged problem seen after the launch.
Astronaut Steve Robinson was assigned to carry out the necessary repairs. Using an extensive robotic arm, he was able to remove the protruding debris, thus allowing for Discovery to dock with the International Space Station and carry on with its initial mission. At this point however, a bizarre object was caught on the installed cameras while performing a law-defying maneuvers (at least impossible in regards to our earthly standards).
The spontaneous flip of the craft caught a glimpse of the object that seemed to deliberately stay out of range from the installed cameras. The UFO appeared white and shined bright in contrast to the blackness of space. It flew relatively close to the shuttle, at a distance that would allow for a clear view of what was going on, and it would have passed as a mere piece of space debris unless it performed an impossible turning maneuver that, for now, can’t be explained by our existing laws of physics. To highlight the anomaly, let’s have a look at Newton’s Laws of Motion that state the following: “An object set into motion in the vacuum of space will continue forever in the same course, unless acted upon by an outside force.” The above video clearly breaks this notion, as the UFO is seen changing its course. Because of the curved trajectory it follows, it has been nicknamed “The Boomerang”, and although NASA has been aware of this peculiar catch, a thorough analysis of the event has failed to make it into the public view. In fact, the space agency decided to focus on other ‘relevant’ facts regarding the STS 114 mission by simply debunking the curious UFO as being a piece of wandering space debris from a satellite. But is NASA to be trusted? Does this prove that the renowned space agency has more knowledge of UFO activity on our planet than they’re letting us know?
According to the UFO community, the object appears to be intelligently controlled, and it’s easy for anyone to realize this because of the circular trajectory the speeding object takes. Until this day, the STS 114 UFO remains one of the best (official) evidence of otherworldly visitors we have. Could this be an authentic example of an alien craft surveilling our earthly activity in space? Or rather a natural occurring phenomenon that has been misinterpreted from the beginning?
Whatever the case, this video stands alongside other relevant examples of unidentified objects near NASA’s official missions, both in space and on the Earth.

A New Mexico witness near Roswell reported watching a light flash response in the sky after setting off an LED light sequence on the ground, according to testimony in Case 77936 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness and her brother were about 41 miles outside Roswell and stopped along Pine Lodge Road at 9:30 p.m. on July 3, 2016, when the incident occurred.

“We were standing in front of Chuck’s pick-up truck facing southeast,” the witness stated. “Altair (brightest star in the constellation Aquila and the twelfth brightest star in the night sky) was in our clear vision in front of us. I had tried to focus my mini cam on the area when we first arrived, but because there was no moon there wasn’t enough light for the camera. Chuck was sitting on the tailgate of his truck and noticed a single flash to the northwest. He thought it was a meteor coming straight in but never saw additional evidence of this. Chuck thought the flash could have been an iridium flare but never saw additional evidence of this either.”
The two began to star gaze.
“There was no moon, so the sky was dark with the Milky Way clearly visible overhead, but slightly to our front vision. After just a few minutes, Chuck said, ‘I’m going to try something,’ He took his remote for his truck grill LED lights out of his pocket and hit the button. The first sequence was an on-off, on-off, on-off. Chuck decided to try the next sequence which was four flashes, pause, one flash. We never expected to get a response.”
But the two did get a response.
“The response was flash, flash. Chuck looked at me and said, ‘Did you see that?’ I replied, ‘yes.’ We both laughed. I said, ‘hit it again’ and he did. We never expected it, but got a second response, flash, flash. Chuck said, ‘I can’t believe I’m seeing this’ as he looked at me in shock. Chuck said, ‘what do you think?’ I said, ‘hit the remote again!’ Chuck did and we got a double flash third response.”

The two tried to consider an explanation for the light response.
“Chuck kept saying, ‘It’s got to be a plane from behind the clouds.’ I said, ‘there are no clouds, that’s the Milky Way!’ Chuck decided to keep hitting the remote while I looked frantically in the area of the light for a plane, helicopter, satellite, iridium flare, anything. After the first three return double light flashes there were no more responses.”
The two continued to look for clues.
“I checked the star charts from my iPad app to best determine what area the flashes came from (Altair) and noted the time (9:30p.m.). At 10:30 p.m.: The cows in the field across the road began to moo and coyotes began to howl. Chuck had taken his night vision binoculars out a few minutes before to look at the Milky Way. He thought the flash we had seen had come from behind a cloud, but I assured him there were no clouds – just the Milky Way. The night vision binoculars proved that. We were looking at a section of the Milky Way, no clouds in our field of view. The night vision binoculars worked at first for just a few minutes, then quit. While Chuck was working on them discovering that the batteries were drained, his truck dash lights came on without any action from either of us. We were not in contact with the truck. EMF and animal reaction was now present.”
The two decided to move out of the area.

“Time: 10:45p.m. (One and-a-half hours after light that flashed). With the EMF effects present we decided it was time to go back to Roswell. It had been one and-a-half hours since the light flashed. We were approximately 40 minutes from town and something was causing EMF and animal reaction. We were worried about the truck electronics going out and the two of us stuck all night on the side of the road. The locals had told us of a road they feared and wouldn’t drive at night because of ‘strange goings on.’ We weren’t sure if this was the road, but thought it was time to leave. Besides, if ET wanted to visit us they obviously from the flashing light response, knew where to find us. We both agreed that the EMF was most likely coming from an outside more local source that was monitoring us being watched. Note:A dark pick-up truck passed us heading towards Roswell just before the EMF effect. Chuck also saw a red SUV. It traveled down the road we were parked at the base of approximately a quarter-mile and stopped. We had only seen one vehicle prior. One was seen right after we arrived and then two more at approximately 10:30p.m. The area is very rural.”

A Kansas witness at Abilene reported watching and videotaping a blimp-shaped UFO moving over a local park, according to testimony in Case 78235 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was outside on a walk in a local park when the object was first seen on August 4, 2016.
“I noticed an odd light in the sky moving over me,” the witness stated.“I was able to record the object for about minute.”

Ruimtesonde Cassini maakte de foto eerder deze week. Links zie je Tethys, rechts schittert Hyperion. Op het moment dat Cassini de foto maakte, was deze ongeveer 1,2 miljoen kilometer van Tethys verwijderd.
Tethys is ongeveer 1071 kilometer breed. Hyperion is met een diameter van 270 kilometer aanzienlijk kleiner. De foto suggereert dat de maantjes bij elkaar in de buurt staan. Maar op deze foto zijn ze maar liefst 1,5 miljoen kilometer van elkaar verwijderd.

We hebben alle reden om foto’s zoals deze te koesteren. De missie van Cassini loopt namelijk op zijn einde. Volgend jaar september zal de sonde opdracht krijgen zich in de atmosfeer van Saturnus te boren. Een opvolger die Saturnus en zijn maantjes in de gaten gaat houden, is er nog niet. Dus zullen we na die tijd nog lang moeten wachten alvorens we weer op zulke mooie kiekjes van de gasreus en omgeving getrakteerd gaan worden.
Wetenschappers menen dat het huidige universum 13,7 miljard jaar geleden in één keer ontstond door een oerknal. Alle materie voor planeten en sterren ontstond in één keer. Of niet? Wat was er eigenlijk voor de oerknal? Fysicus Roger Penrose heeft bewijs gevonden dat er voor de oerknal een universum was, en daarvoor nog een universum. Kortom: de oerknal was niet het begin.
Penrose verwacht dat de uitbreiding van het universum ooit stopt. Het heelal dijt continu uit, waardoor een zwarte leegte ontstaat. Zwarte gaten kunnen geen sterren meer verorberen en verdampen. Hierdoor begint het heelal te krimpen en is het klaar om een volgende oerknal te starten.
De fysicus vindt bewijs voor zijn theorie in de kosmische achtergrondstraling. In theorie zouden de temperatuurvariaties in de kosmische achtergrondstraling willekeurig moeten zijn, maar Penrose en zijn collega’s beweren dat er duidelijke concentrische cirkels zichtbaar zijn. Zij denken dat dit gebieden zijn met hogere temperaturen. Deze cirkels zijn volgens Penrose bewijzen van de zwaartekrachteffecten van botsingen van zwarte gaten in het vorige universum, oftewel het universum vóór de oerknal.

Nog een week of drie en dan kiest OSIRIS-REx het luchtruim. Hoogste tijd voor NASA om de laatste hand te leggen aan de prachtmissie.
Op dit moment wordt de lancering van OSIRIS-REx voorbereid. Zoals het er nu naar uitziet, kiest de ruimtesonde donderdag 8 september het luchtruim. Eindbestemming? De planetoïde Bennu.
De missie Het belooft een prachtige missie te worden. OSIRIS-REx zal eerst uitgebreid onderzoek doen naar Bennu en vervolgens afdalen naar het oppervlak van de planetoïde om wat materiaal te verzamelen. Vervolgens wordt dat materiaal weer op aarde afgeleverd voor verdere analyse. Onderzoekers hopen dat de missie onder meer inzicht geeft in hoe planeten tot stand zijn gekomen en hoe het leven op aarde begon.
Zeven jaar Naar verwachting komt OSIRIS-REx in 2018 bij Bennu aan. De op Bennu verzamelde monsters zullen in 2023 weer op aarde arriveren. “De lancering van OSIRIS-REx is het begin van een zeven jaar durende reis bedoeld om ongerepte materialen van planetoïde Bennu te halen,” stelt hoofdonderzoeker Dante Lauretta. “Het team heeft een geweldig ruimtevaartuig gebouwd en we zijn goed uitgerust om Bennu te bestuderen en een wetenschappelijke schat terug op aarde te brengen.”
OSIRIS-REx beschikt over diverse camera’s en spectrometers. Laatstgenoemde instrumenten zullen gebruikt worden om chemische elementen, mineralen en organisch materiaal op Bennu te detecteren en identificeren. Daarnaast bezit OSIRIS-REx een robotarm voor het verzamelen van monsters en een met parachutes uitgeruste capsule. De verzamelde monsters zullen in deze capsule worden opgeslagen en terugkeren naar de aarde.

This temple at Cholula dwarfs the Great Pyramid at Giza, yet it went unnoticed by Spanish invaders. Why?
They arrived in their thousands. Hardened by months of war with ferocious natives, near-starvation and exotic diseases, Hernan Cortez and his Spanish army marched into the great city of Cholula expecting a fight.
But this was a sacred city. Instead of investing in weapons, its inhabitants built temples; it was said they had a holy pyramid for every day of the year. After such generosity, their gods would surely protect them.
This was a grave error indeed. As the army stormed its streets, religious treasures were looted and the precious pyramids went up in smoke. Within three hours they had murdered 3,000 people. October 12th 1519 was a bloodbath on an unprecedented scale, leaving 10% of the city’s population dead.
Eventually the Spaniards settled in Cholula (now part of Mexico), erecting enough of their own buildings that the city is now known for having a church for every day of the year. The final touch – a symbol of their Christian conquest – is the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Remediosa, built on what they thought was a large hill.

But not all is as it seems. Beneath the tiny church, hiding under tufts of grass, trees and soil, is an ancient pyramid of truly gigantic proportions. Standing 450 metres wide and 66 metres tall, from end to end the Great Pyramid of Cholula is equivalent to nine Olympic sized swimming pools.
For an obscure temple no one’s heard of, Cholula holds an impressive array of records: it’s the largest pyramid on the planet, with a base four times larger than the Great Pyramid at Giza and nearly twice the volume.
Never mind the largest pyramid – it’s the largest monument ever constructed anywhere, by any civilisation, to this day. To locals it’s aptly known as Tlachihualtepetl (“man-made mountain”). Thanks to the church on top, it’s also the oldest continuously occupied building on the continent.
The story goes that until the locals began construction of an insane asylum in 1910, nobody knew it was a pyramid. Certainly, by the time Cortéz and his men arrived, it was already a thousand years old and entirely concealed by vegetation.
Early excavations revealed a series of gruesome findings, including the deformed skulls of decapitated children.
Where did it come from? And why did it stay hidden for so long?

Despite its enormous size, very little is known about the pyramid’s early history. It’s thought construction began around 300 BC; by who exactly remains a mystery. According to myth it was built by a giant. Most likely, the city’s inhabitants – known as the Choluteca – were a cosmopolitan mix. “It appears to have been multi-ethnic, with a great deal of migration,” says David Carballo, an archaeologist at Boston University, Massachusetts.
Whoever they were, they probably had a lot of money. Cholula is conveniently located in the Mexican highlands and was an important trading post for thousands of years, linking the Tolteca-Chichimeca kingdoms in the North with the Maya in the South.
Cortez called it “the most beautiful city outside Spain”. By the time he arrived, it was the second-largest city in the Aztec empire, though it had already exchanged hands numerous times.
And here there are even more surprises. In fact it’s not one pyramid at all, but a great Russian doll of a construction, consisting of no less than six, one on top of the other. It grew in stages, as successive civilisations improved on what had already been built.
“They made a conscious effort to maintain and in some cases display previous construction episodes. This is pretty novel, and shows deliberate efforts to link to the past,” says Carballo.

According to legend, when they heard the conquistadors were coming, the locals covered the precious temple with soil themselves. In fact it may have happened by accident. That’s because, incredibly, the largest pyramid in the world is made of mud.
“Adobe” bricks are made by mixing mud with other materials such as sand or straw, and baking it hard in the sun. To make the pyramid, the outer bricks were smoothed with more earth to create a painting surface. In its prime, the temple was covered in red, black and yellow insects.
In dry climates, mud bricks are extremely durable – lasting thousands of years. In humid Mexico, the mud creation was a fertile platform for tropical jungle. “It was abandoned sometime in the 7th or 8th Century CE. The Choluteca had a newer pyramid-temple located nearby, which the Spaniards destroyed,” says Carballo.
The pyramid also had topography in its favour; the pyramid rests on a natural platform in an area which is almost completely mountainous.
Today the city has reclaimed their pyramid, which can be explored via over five miles of tunnels constructed in the early 20th Century. Nearly 500 years after the colonial conquest, the city must contend with a new invasion: tourists.

Eat your heart out, Tatooine: A newly discovered alien planet has not one, not two, but three suns in its sky.
While scientists know of many planets with two suns, a planet with three bright stars in its sky is much rarer. The newly found distant world, known as KELT-4Ab, orbits one star. That star in turn is orbited by a nearby pair of stars. The twin stars are close enough to the planet to appear about as bright as the full moon in the sky, new research has revealed.
In addition to providing an example of a solar system very different from Earth’s, the strange arrangement may help provide insight into how gas giants that lie close to their parent star — known as “hot Jupiters” — evolve.
A triple sunset
KELT-4Ab, which is about as massive as Jupiter, orbits the single star KELT-A once every three days. Nearby, the stars KELT-B and KELT-C orbit one another once every 30 years, and together they travel around KELT-A and its planet every 4,000 years or so.
Jason Eastman, a research associate at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, is the lead author of a study that used the two robotic telescopes that make up the Kilodegree Extremely Little Telescope (KELT), located in Arizona and South Africa respectively, to identify the system that includes the single star KELT-A, the more distant pairing KELT-BC and the overheated planet.
While the composition of the planet’s atmosphere isn’t yet known, Eastman told Space.com that standing in the atmosphere above the planet (since you can’t stand on its surface), the single star would appear to be about 40 times as large as the sun appears in the sky on Earth. Each member of the binary star pair would be almost as bright as the full moon, though without a good telescope they would look like dots of light about a pinky-finger-width apart in the sky.
“Those two stars would orbit each other every about 30 years, and every 4,000 years they’d make one orbit around KELT-4A,” Eastman said.
Planets around triple stars are rare; KELT-4Ab is only the fourth known system to contain three stars. Of these, KELT-A is the brightest host star, not only because it is a hotter star than the ones in the other three systems, but also because it lies so close to Earth — only 680 light-years away.
“Hot Jupiters aren’t supposed to exist. None of them,” Eastman said.
“Gaseous planets the size of Jupiter are supposed to form much farther out [from their parent star] and stay there, like our own Jupiter did,” he said. “Exactly how they got so close is an outstanding question, but one theory is that it migrates due to hot interactions with a third body — in this case, the third and fourth bodies KELT-BC.”
When astronomers developed the first theories of planet formation, all they had to work with was the solar system. When the first exoplanet discoveries were gas giants that orbited their stars in a handful of days, it turned the existing theory on its head and sent scientists scrambling to understand how the newly observed systems could exist. Most scientists seem to agree that the massive worlds traveled to their current position after they finished forming, driven by companion planets, stars or other processes, Eastman said.
“The binary system KELT-4BC may be what ultimately drove the planet KELT-4Ab so close to its star,” Eastman said.
Using a survey produced by KELT, the scientists identified the potential planet KELT-4Ab, then confirmed its existence with several other instruments. Like the more well-known NASA Kepler spacecraft, KELT relies on the transit method to detect exoplanets, observing how the amount of light from a star drops as the planet passes between it and Earth.
“KELT is different in several ways [from other transit surveys],” Eastman said. “It has a smaller telescope, a larger field of view and a larger pixel scale than other mature transit surveys.”
These features deliberately bias the instrument toward brighter stars, which Eastman said allows a broader range of observations and characterizations. Among those is the ability to determine if the planet’s orbital plane appears edge-on as seen from Earth, or whether the plane is tipped, and this process allows scientists to more precisely calculate the star’s mass.
Looking to the future
When the KELT-4 system was originally observed in 1973, it was thought to host only two stars. Not until Eastman observed the system almost 40 years later was one of the single stars resolved into two individuals.
“In all previous observations, KELT-4B and KELT-4C were blended together and looked just like one star,” Eastman said.
This is a recurring challenge for scientists observing binary systems — resolving close-orbiting stars into binary pairs. Eastman said that many known planets may live in unknown triple systems. One reason the twin stars in the KELT-4 system were so easily identified as two individual stars instead of one was because of the system’s close proximity to Earth.
The European Space Agency’s Gaia satellite, currently engaged in a five-year mission, will observe the triple system in the coming years. These observations will enable a more precise measurement of the distance to KELT-4A, providing more detailed measurements of its mass and radius, which will result in more precise measurements of the mass and radius of the planet.
“But more exciting, Gaia will be able to measure the motion of the KELT-4BC binary pair around KELT-4A,” Eastman said.
Measuring the path of the pair of stars will help improve models of how they could have affected the migration of the planet, shoving it closer to its parent star. In doing so, it will help scientists understand how hot Jupiters manage to form so close to their parent stars.

Rumours are mounting over a fleet of Boeing 737s seen flying in and out of the US Air Force 's most secretive military base every day - Area 51.
The isolated location in the Nevada desert - which has sent UFO and Alienconspiracy theorists' imaginations wild for almost 70 years - is once again at the centre of a new mystery that would baffle even Fox Mulder.
Flight Club reports that a new 'airline' called Janet is operating a number of red-striped Boeings based at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport on a daily basis.
The name is the call sign being used when the planes travel in civilian airspace.
Others have speculated it is an acronym standing for 'Just Another Non-Existent Terminal'.

A UFO was captured on video hovering over Brownsville, Texas, causing supposition that it could be from a nearby underwater base as it was reportedly floating over water, just off the Gulf of Mexico. The witness of the odd sighting reported it to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). He described the mysterious aerial thing as bright, oval shape moving slowly from left to right. The sighting took place when the witness was on his way back from a fishing trip.
The witness also noted in his report that a small object was trailing the big oval object, but that particular scene wasn’t captured on the video. The quality of the video may be poor and shaky, but it seems that’s all needed to start the discussion among UFO enthusiasts as to what the object might be and where it possibly originated.
Many claims have surfaced about the underwater UFO base off the coast of Cuba at Guantanamo Bay, near to where the strange object was spotted and filmed. A retired Marine reported early in March about his various UFO encounters just off the Cuban coast when he was stationed at the U.S. base in Cuba from 1968 to 1969. He recalled that those UFOs would surface out of the water or vanish into the waves of the Caribbean.

UFO historian Richard Dolan has described the initial reaction of many people to his passionate involvement with the subject. They express interest, might even describe something they saw on TV concerning the phenomenon and then after a few minutes of his well informed explanations, their eyes gloss over and they are clearly bored.
THE ROLE OF AUTHORITY FIGURES
Yes it’s true; opinion polls indicate the public is interested in UFOs. Advertising executives have long known this, but the fascination is for most part quite superficial. Why is this? I suspect partly because of the massive denial of authority figures that say, “There is nothing to it.”
After all, the world is so complex; we rely on authorities to put to use vast amounts of data to make what we hope are reasonable decisions. Most people have little understanding of the technological “miracles” that science has achieved, but they are grateful and trust the devices, like planes, autos and computers to work reliably.
Needing to trust leaders I suspect might be built into our biology. For a million years before civilization was established, hunter-gatherers worked in small groups to survive. Shamans that could use primitive psi abilities combined with careful observations of nature played a decisive role. Leadership was a question of life and death and those clans that had the best leaders, the “shamen” and “sha-women” that knew how best to kill the animals or find the healing herbs and deliver the babies, played a critical role in survival. So most of us have a strong tendency to “follow the leader” and when this becomes extreme “We the People “become ”we the sheeple.”
LINKING UFOs TO SOLUTIONS FOR MAJOR PROBLEMS
For the UFO question to have a truly major impact on the mass consciousness it will need to be transformed from an entertaining diversion and become a way of addressing the seemingly insurmountable problems our planet is facing. This is already being attempted by those within the UFO community that discuss the possibility of downloading into our technological culture the secrets of the energy propulsion systems of flying saucers. So-called “free energy” in one fell swoop might eliminate poverty and pollution, thus possibly reversing global warming and ending world hunger.
Of course in order for the so-called ETs to give us such devices they might understandably insist on a peaceful transformation of our planet to replace what UFOlogist Stanton Friedman has called our perpetual state of “tribal warfare.” This is going to be a hard sell when the mass media and academia in service to their corporate masters repeatedly insist, “There is nothing to it.”
HE WHO PAYS THE PIPER CALLS THE TUNE
From the control groups’ point of view, those of the clandestine forces determined to keep a lid on the UFO issue, an important strategy would be to recruit authority figures to block any significant discussion of flying saucers. Opinion makers who step out of line would find that their access to funding has been cut off. This is all done behind the scenes and is quite effective in my opinion.
In the USA the National Academy of Sciences has made it perfectly clear that UFO studies are not part of the “legitimate” agenda for professional science. Scientists that step out of line will find themselves unable to secure grants thus ending their careers.
In broadcast journalism, talk show hosts that might attempt to inform the public in a detailed way would likely find themselves without corporate sponsors. The major newspapers are controlled through their editorial boards that in turn are dependent on corporate sponsors to continue publishing.
This analysis is not a conspiracy theory. I describe the way power works. In the former Soviet Union it was the political dictatorship of the Communist Party that attempted to regulate almost every aspect of people’s lives. That social experiment failed miserably. In the West however social control is far more sophisticated, decentralized and uses the knowledge of social psychology called “public relations” to effectively manipulate the masses.
RESISTANCE TO CHANGE ALSO COMES FROM WITHIN
On the individual level our tendency to identify with our thoughts leads to a profound attachments to old ideas. This resistance to changing one’s point of view flows from the ego itself. People strive to defend their religion, political ideology, or moral customs to the point where some would even kill to maintain them. Just look at the present situation in Syria, or at the millions killed centuries ago during the Protestant Reformation in Europe.
Something similar in my opinion applies to acknowledging the high probability that the ET explanation for the flying saucer phenomenon is true. Such a realization threatens to radically change the conceptual paradigm of our entire civilization. Since humans so strongly identify with their present beliefs it is understandable that many reject such a brave new worldview in which we might have to accept an ET presence.
UFO INTELLIGENCE HAS A TIGER BY THE TAIL.
What about the intelligence responsible for flying saucers? Could “they” (whoever they ultimately turn out to be) simply fill the sky with structured craft? Or stage the proverbial “landing on the White House Lawn?” Such actions would certainly convince the masses that flying saucers are of the greatest importance. In my judgment this scenario is the least likely to ever take place. Given the militaristic mindset of our civilization, a sudden realization of the reality of UFOs could be catastrophic. My guess is that careful gradual efforts to alert us of their importance is the game plan of the intelligence responsible for the phenomenon and possibly within some elements of the establishment as well.
So what will it take to change mass public opinion on the flying saucer question? If the alleged ETs continue the present pattern of interactions, millions of individual sightings yearly, interspersed with occasional massive waves, I imagine that there will be opportunities to slowly build public awareness by a responsible program of education.
RESPONSIBLE PROGRAM OF PUBLIC EDUCATION
This will require UFO enthusiasts to discipline the crazies in our midst, think creatively and most importantly of all build stable, well-financed organizations to carry out the educational campaign. All this will need to be done in the face of powerful opposition by corporate groups that have great experience in controlling public opinion, the economy and their political operatives that run governments.
“TURNING PAGES IN A PLAY BOOK
Can we trust UFO intelligence to follow what we imagine is their existing “game plan?” I suppose not. UFO researcher Michael Lindemann once said that we should never assume that we can think like the so-called “aliens.” Nevertheless the ever-changing pattern of interactions, as pointed out by UFO researcher Grant Cameron, appear to be as if the aliens are turning the pages of a “play book.” This can be seen as “Men in Black” in the 1960s, so called “abductions” in the 70s, crop circles in the 80s and continuous past and present mental interactions with millions of experiencers. Many of which are instilled with a sense of mission and are striving to convince their fellow Earthlings that we should look up and accept what our “lying eyes” are seeing.
My guess is that UFO intelligence will present us with infinitely creative new ways of waking us up from our collective stupor concerning their “wonders in the sky.” I am of the opinion that their presence is non-harmful and very likely to be beneficial to mankind. Bringing others to this hopeful perspective I imagine is a challenge that UFO activists will continue to face for some time.

Some believe it houses evidence of extraterrestrial life. Others, ancient texts that disprove the existence of Jesus. Perhaps dark truths that would discredit and destroy the Church?
A mistranslated Latin word may be responsible for the conspiracy theories about the Vatican Secret Archives. In fact, the actual contents can stand on their own without delving into the absurd.
The archives, or Archivum Secretum Apostolicum Vaticanum, contains historical records chronicling intriguing historical events. Its contents, once plundered by Napoleon and moved to Paris, span 12 centuries.
There’s the document that began the Protestant reformations: Pope Leo X’s 1521 decree excommunicating Martin Luther.
A 1530 petition from 85 English clergymen and lords asks Pope Clement VII to annul King Henry VIII’s marriage to Catherine of Aragon. The seals of many of the signatories were affixed to the petition, each held in place by red ribbon. This is considered the source of the term “red tape.” Clement refused, of course, leading to the establishment of the Anglican Church.
Michelangelo penned a letter to the pope warning that Vatican guards hadn’t received paychecks in three months, and that they were threatening to walk off the job.
A year after Columbus landed in what became North America, Pope Alexander VI issued Inter Cetera, the 1493 papal bull that split the New World between Spain and Portugal.
There are letters from Abraham Lincoln as well as Jefferson Davis, who wrote to try to convince Pope Pius IX that the South was an innocent victim of Northern aggression. Neither man was Catholic.
The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception, the notion that Mary was conceived without original sin, was articulated in 1854 on a piece of parchment that’s in the archives.
Famous Vatican trials were recorded with handwritten transcripts that are housed there, including cases against the Knights Templar in the early 14th century and astronomer Galileo Galilei in the 17th, who was tried by the Vatican for heresy and forced to spend the rest of his life under house arrest.
When Sweden’s Queen Christina abdicated in 1654, she converted to Catholicism from Lutheranism, moved to Rome, and today she is one of the few women buried in St. Peter’s Basilica. There’s a letter to the pope announcing her conversion.
Interesting, sure, but hardly the stuff of Dan Brown novels.

Secretum, the Vatican says, translates more accurately to “personal” than to “secret” and refers to the private letters and historical records of past popes. In fact, the archives haven’t been secret since 1881, when Pope Leo XIII opened them up to scholars.
Pope Paul V created the Secret Archives in 1612. Four hundred years later, the Vatican celebrated by making 100 items available for public viewing for the first time. The exhibit, Lux in Arcana, shed some light on the papal past and provided some color to events that shaped history.
David Kertzer spent years researching in the Secret Archives for his recent book, The Pope and Mussolini. He writes that Pope Pius XI, and his secretary of state, who became Pope Pius XII, made deals with Mussolini to protect the Church’s interest in exchange for silence on state-sponsored anti-Semitism, a conclusion at odds with the Church’s account.
“People talk, scholars talk. Are there things that aren’t being made available because they’re seen as unflattering from a Church point of view?” Kertzer, an anthropology professor at Brown University, said.
Still, Kertzer said, the Secret Archives are staffed by professionals, and “there’s an appreciation of serious historical scholarship.”
That’s not to say that the holdings are easily accessible.
Scholars enter through the Porta Sant’Anna, pass Swiss Guards, walk through the Cortile del Belvedere, and present credentials that must be renewed every 6 months. Journalists, students, and amateur historians aren’t welcome.
Once admitted, there’s no browsing. Instead, researchers request specific documents, using bulky catalogues, some handwritten in Italian or Latin. They can request up to three folders each day.
If in just a few minutes they realize that what they’re seeking isn’t in the requested folders, they’re forced to pack up for the day - a challenge for scholars on a deadline or those who have traveled long distances.
Computers are allowed, but photos aren’t, which means long sessions in the third-floor reading room typing notes.
What’s next?
The sitting pope decides when to expand the archives.
Pope Francis is considering when to open the full archives of Pope Pius XII, the man dubbed “Hitler’s Pope” by some, but whose cause for canonization is championed by Church traditionalists who say he hid Jews from the Nazis.
For the Vatican, mystery and palace intrigue come with the territory. But for a department whose official name includes the word secret, there is transparency around many items known to be housed there.

Wetenschappers hebben bewijs gevonden dat Titan - de grootste maan van Saturnus en de op één na grootste maan van ons zonnestelsel - de juiste samenstelling zou kunnen hebben om er leven mogelijk te maken.
Computermodellen tonen dat de waterstocyanide die bestaat op Titan de juiste chemische reacties zou kunnen uitlokken die nodig zijn om de warmte van de zon te absorberen.
Titan heeft sowieso al een landschap dat sterk op dat van de aarde doet denken, compleet met meren en zeeën die bestaan uit water en ammoniak. Die worden bedekt door een laag ijs van koolwaterstof, een van de basiselementen van petroleum en aardgas. Ze zouden bewoonbaar kunnen zijn voor een heel nieuwe vorm van leven.
VIDEO's Werelds langste vliegtuig, de Airlander 10 meet 92 meter, heeft gisterenavond zijn eerste testvlucht overleefd. Heel wat enthousiaste vliegtuigspotters konden de vlotte landing in het Engelse Bedfordshire aanschouwen.
De Airlander 10 is deels een vliegtuig, deels een helikopter en deels een zeppelin. Maar het toestel valt vooral op door de bijzondere vorm. Dankzij zijn ronde achterkant kreeg het de bijnaam 'De Vliegende Kont'. Het toestel werd origineel ontwikkeld als onderdeel van een project van het Amerikaans leger, maar na besnoeiingen in het budget moest de Airlander 10 beschikken. Het bedrijf Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) bracht het in 2013 naar Groot-Brittannië, waar het werd omgebouwd voor civiel gebruik.
Voor de eerste testvlucht waren heel wat toeschouwers naar Bedfordshire getrokken. De menigte juichte als het toestel uit de hangar kwam. Topman bij HAV Stephen McGlennan zei dat het team moest wachten op de juiste weersomstandigheden voor het opstijgen. "Maar het toestel kan ook vliegen bij 80 knopen. Denk aan een grote helikopter, dit toestel heeft dezelfde mogelijkheden. De Airlander kan meer mensen en goederen vervoeren zonder dat er een landingsbaan nodig is. Het toestel is groener en goedkoper dan een helikopter. Het is een geweldige innovatie."
MARS IN BEELDDe Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter cirkelt al sinds 2005 rond Mars en trekt geregeld kiekjes van de rode planeet. De lading foto's die NASA deze maand lostte, is extra groot en dat levert wonderlijke beelden op van onze buurplaneet. Een kleine selectie toont alvast het gevarieerde en wonderlijke reliëf van Mars.
Het gebeurt geregeld dat de Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) foto's aflevert, maar de huidige lading van 1.035 foto's is uitzonderlijk groot. Alfred McEwen, directeur van het Planetary Image Research Laboratory, vertelde aan Popular Science dat daar twee redenen voor zijn: enerzijds is er elke 26 maanden een optimaal moment voor het verzenden van data tussen de Aarde en Mars, anderzijds beleefde Mars in juli zijn herfstequinox, waardoor de MRO het meest volledige en verlichte beeld van de planeet voor de lens kreeg.
De beelden werden geregistreerd door HiRISE, een camera met hoge resolutie die wetenschappers toelaat om het oppervlak van Mars in detail te bestuderen. Die beelden kunnen bijvoorbeeld helpen om landingsplaatsen uit te zoeken voor toekomstige missies.
