Actuellement les scientifiques essaient de trouver des formes de vie extra-terrestres en «écoutant» le ciel, en scrutant l'espace avec des télescopes, en envoyant des robots et en analysant tous les échantillons chimiques rapportés des comètes ou des planètes.

Les bactéries et la levure

Sachant que toute forme de vie est en mouvement, des chercheurs suisses et belges ont essayé de capter les mouvements d'organismes microscopiques tels que les bactéries ou la levure, à l'aide d'un minuscule détecteur de mouvements.

«Ce détecteur de micro-mouvements permet de déceler la vie d'un autre point de vue: la vie comme un mouvement», explique Giovanni Longo, principal auteur de cette recherche publiée dans la revue américaine Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

«Ce détecteur peut capter tous les petits mouvements des systèmes vivants et apporter un point de vue complémentaire à la recherche de la vie», a-t-il précisé à dans un courriel.

Quelques centaines de microns de long

L'appareil est lui aussi tout petit, d'une taille inférieure au millimètre --quelques centaines de microns de long--, et peut détecter les micro-mouvements qui sont la «signature universelle de la vie», affirment ces chercheurs, Giovanni Longo, scientifique à l'Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, et ses collègues du Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie en Belgique.

Les scientifiques l'ont testé sur différents éléments, comme la bactérie E coli, la levure, mais aussi des cellules humaines, des cellules de souris ou de plante en laboratoire. Dans tous les cas, quand des organismes vivants sont placés près de l'appareil, «l'amplitude des fluctuations mesurées augmente», selon l'étude.

Un prototype de moins de 10'000 dollars

Giovanni Longo et ses collègues ont aussi ramassé de la terre et de l'eau près de leurs laboratoires en Suisse, et ils ont découvert que le détecteur pouvait là aussi capter la vie de micro-organismes. Ils ont aussi pu manipuler ces mouvements en ajoutant des nutriments consommés par les cellules, ou des éléments chimiques qui les ont tuées, stoppant de fait leur mobilité.

Selon Giovanni Longo, un prototype coûterait moins de 10'000 dollars, utilise très peu de batterie et pourrait être transporté dans un boîtier de 20 centimètres sur 20. L'appareil n'a pas encore été présenté aux agences spatiales américaine (Nasa) et européenne (ESA), mais des initiatives ont été lancées pour fabriquer un exemplaire qui pourrait être transporté dans l'espace par un vaisseau, selon Giovanni Longo.

Des traces de vie inhabituelles

S'il avait été disponible pour la mission Rosetta de l'ESA, qui a récemment envoyé pour la première fois un robot, Philae, sur une comète et détecté des potentiels signes de vie comme de l'eau et du carbone, il aurait fait faire à la science un très grand pas «pour déterminer si ces éléments abritent la vie, quelle qu'en soit la forme», explique le chercheur.

Si les agences spatiales trouvent le moyen de l'utiliser, le détecteur pourra trouver des traces de vie sur les satellites de Jupiter, de Saturne, ou de Mars, et aider les scientifiques à découvrir que la vie existe sous des formes inhabituelles.

Le détecteur peut aussi être utilisé pour trouver des formes de vie extrêmes difficiles à mesurer sur la Terre, comme dans les volcans ou au fond des océans. Mais il faudra encore des années avant que le détecteur puisse être testé dans l'espace.

Dans les prochaines missions spatiales

«C'est rare que tout soit simple dans l'exploration spatiale», rappelle Ariel Anbar, professeur à la School of Earth and Space Exploration et au département de chimie et de bio-chimie à l'université d'Arizona. Néanmoins Ariel Anbar, qui n'a pas participé à cette recherche, qualifie ces travaux de «rafraichissants». C'est «fondamentalement une nouvelle idée».

«La détection de mouvements à cette échelle n'a jamais été envisagée auparavant dans le cadre de la recherche de traces de vie extra-terrestres», affirme-t-il. «Si c'est aussi simple technologiquement à mettre en oeuvre alors ça vaudra le coup de l'intégrer dans les prochaines missions» spatiales. Speaking With Extraterrestrials

Composing a message that can be understood by aliens will be extremely difficult. And conversation may be impossible.

The discovery of intelligent life beyond Earth, while it would unquestionably be exciting, would also create a host of new problems. How, exactly, would we navigate the complexities of communicating with alien beings? Would we even be able to interpret a message originating from space? Earlier this month, the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute in Mountain View, California, held a workshop called “Communicating Across the Cosmos” where some two dozen interdisciplinary scientists from around the globe gathered to consider these very questions.

If, sometime in the future, we were able to send a message to a far-away life form, it would likely be very difficult to construct one that could be understood by extraterrestrials, according to Kim Binsted, an expert on artificial intelligence and human-computer interfaces at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. To illustrate the problem, she pointed to the many impediments facing archaeologists who attempt to decipher ancient texts written by other human beings—who, despite the multi-generational gap, share the same brain, the same senses, and the same motivations. Considering that none of these might be the same for extraterrestrials, the challenges are self-evident. Binsted cautioned the writers of any interstellar communication to be careful about accidentally revealing information we don’t intend to share (i.e. our location, or our intrinsic human frailties). She also stressed the importance of sending a self-contained message, as opposed to an open-ended question. This is vital because, considering the vast distances involved, our species might not even be alive when the communication is received.

Sheri Wells-Jensen, an Associate Professor in the Department of English and Co-Director of the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), explained the difficulties in choosing a language for an outgoing message. She suggested that we begin with a close examination of the 7,000 or so known human languages. What do they all have in common? What is unique to each one? What assumptions do they make? Only by taking such steps can we hope to know if the language we choose for a message is truly universal.

Galaxy mapper's first discovery: surprise space debris

A robotic galaxy mapper may have just made its first discovery – by surviving an unexpected onslaught of space debris.

Scientists working with the European Space Agency's Gaia satellite have found that the spacecraft is being peppered by far more micrometeoroids – tiny specks of space dust – than had been anticipated. The strikes shouldn't put Gaia in danger, although mission scientists will have to watch closely as the spacecraft begins its scientific observations. And the discovery might spell trouble for future spacecraft headed to the same orbital position.

Launched in December 2013, Gaia's mission is to map roughly a billion stars in our galaxy with high precision. This will help astronomers to understand more about the Milky Way's structure and evolution. Already, Gaia has hit a few technical snags, such as too much ice on its mirrors and too much sunlight sneaking past its sunshield. To adjust to the troubles, the Gaia team has delayed the first release of scientific data by nine months.

Point of contention

Troubleshooting Gaia is no mean feat because the spacecraft is about 1.5 million kilometres from Earth, at the L2 Lagrange point. This is an unusual orbital position where the combined gravitational forces of Earth and the sun allow a satellite to hover at a fixed point on the night side of our planet.

A handful of previous satellites have made the journey to L2 without noticing high levels of micrometeoroids. Still, based on data about space dust around Earth, astronomers had expected that modest amounts would regularly hit Gaia.

To make their measurements, the team needs to know the direction that their satellite is pointing with unprecedented accuracy, which means that Gaia is extremely sensitive to tiny changes in its rotation rate. The detection of such changes revealed the surprising number of nudges from micrometeoroid strikes.

"The rough expectation was one to ten per day," says Floor van Leeuwen, an astronomer at the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge, UK. "We are observing at least 500 per day." The team think that many of the bits of space dust are hitting Gaia's sunshield, although the origin of the micrometeoroids is not yet clear.

Planet leftovers

"There is a suggestion that a ring of dust surrounds planets such as Earth and Venus, more or less tracing the positions of the Lagrangian points," says van Leeuwen. And Nigel Hambly, a Gaia scientist based at the University of Edinburgh, UK, suspects that the dust is leftover material from the formation of moons and planets.

The micrometeoroid find is of particular interest to scientists working on NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The infrared observatory will head to L2 in 2018 to study a cornucopia of cosmic mysteries, and micrometeoroid impacts have the potential to decrease the reflectivity of the telescope's enormous, exposed mirror.

JWST scientist Mark Clampin at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, says he and his colleagues have been talking to the Gaia team and will now assess whether the findings differ from their computer predictions of what to expect at L2.

"JWST currently uses a NASA model for the L2 environments, which includes micrometeoroids, so we need to be able to compare the new Gaia results to that model," he says.

Warmer Pacific Ocean Could Release Millions Of Tons Of Seafloor Methane

Off the West Coast of the United States, methane gas is trapped in frozen layers below the seafloor. New research from the University of Washington shows that water at intermediate depths is warming enough to cause these carbon deposits to melt, releasing methane into the sediments and surrounding water.

Researchers found that water off the coast of Washington is gradually warming at a depth of 500 meters, about a third of a mile down. That is the same depth where methane transforms from a solid to a gas. The research suggests that ocean warming could be triggering the release of a powerful greenhouse gas.

"We calculate that methane equivalent in volume to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill is released every year off the Washington coast," said Evan Solomon, a UW assistant professor of oceanography. He is co-author of a paper to appear in Geophysical Research Letters.

While scientists believe that global warming will release methane from gas hydrates worldwide, most of the current focus has been on deposits in the Arctic. This paper estimates that from 1970 to 2013, some 4 million metric tons of methane has been released from hydrate decomposition off Washington. That's an amount each year equal to the methane from natural gas released in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon blowout off the coast of Louisiana, and 500 times the rate at which methane is naturally released from the seafloor.

"Methane hydrates are a very large and fragile reservoir of carbon that can be released if temperatures change," Solomon said. "I was skeptical at first, but when we looked at the amounts, it's significant."

Methane is the main component of natural gas. At cold temperatures and high ocean pressure, it combines with water into a crystal called methane hydrate. The Pacific Northwest has unusually large deposits of methane hydrates because of its biologically productive waters and strong geologic activity. But coastlines around the world hold deposits that could be similarly vulnerable to warming.

"This is one of the first studies to look at the lower-latitude margin," Solomon said. "We're showing that intermediate-depth warming could be enhancing methane release."

Co-author Una Miller, a UW oceanography undergraduate, first collected thousands of historic temperature measurements in a region off the Washington coast as part of a separate research project in the lab of co-author Paul Johnson, a UW professor of oceanography. The data revealed the unexpected sub-surface ocean warming signal.

"Even though the data was raw and pretty messy, we could see a trend," Miller said. "It just popped out."

The four decades of data show deeper water has, perhaps surprisingly, been warming the most due to climate change.

"A lot of the earlier studies focused on the surface because most of the data is there," said co-author Susan Hautala, a UW associate professor of oceanography. "This depth turns out to be a sweet spot for detecting this trend." The reason, she added, is that it lies below water nearer the surface that is influenced by long-term atmospheric cycles.

The warming water probably comes from the Sea of Okhotsk, between Russia and Japan, where surface water becomes very dense and then spreads east across the Pacific. The Sea of Okhotsk is known to have warmed over the past 50 years, and other studies have shown that the water takes a decade or two to cross the Pacific and reach the Washington coast.

"We began the collaboration when we realized this is also the most sensitive depth for methane hydrate deposits," Hautala said. She believes the same ocean currents could be warming intermediate-depth waters from Northern California to Alaska, where frozen methane deposits are also known to exist.

Warming water causes the frozen edge of methane hydrate to move into deeper water. On land, as the air temperature warms on a frozen hillside, the snowline moves uphill. In a warming ocean, the boundary between frozen and gaseous methane would move deeper and farther offshore. Calculations in the paper show that since 1970 the Washington boundary has moved about 1 kilometer - a little more than a half-mile - farther offshore. By 2100, the boundary for solid methane would move another 1 to 3 kilometers out to sea.

Estimates for the future amount of gas released from hydrate dissociation this century are as high as 0.4 million metric tons per year off the Washington coast, or about quadruple the amount of methane from the Deepwater Horizon blowout each year.

Still unknown is where any released methane gas would end up. It could be consumed by bacteria in the seafloor sediment or in the water, where it could cause seawater in that area to become more acidic and oxygen-deprived. Some methane might also rise to the surface, where it would release into the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas, compounding the effects of climate change.

Researchers now hope to verify the calculations with new measurements. For the past few years, curious fishermen have sent UW oceanographers sonar images showing mysterious columns of bubbles. Solomon and Johnson just returned from a cruise to check out some of those sites at depths where Solomon believes they could be caused by warming water.

"Those images the fishermen sent were 100 percent accurate," Johnson said. "Without them we would have been shooting in the dark."

Johnson and Solomon are analyzing data from that cruise to pinpoint what's triggering this seepage, and the fate of any released methane. The recent sightings of methane bubbles rising to the sea surface, the authors note, suggests that at least some of the seafloor gas may reach the surface and vent to the atmosphere. - Underwater Times

Jade Sylvester started consuming loo paper while pregnant and now eats a whole roll of it every day.

While some women have been known to develop unusual food cravings during pregnancy, a 25-year-old full time mother from Gainsborough took this to the extreme when she developed an insatiable desire to dine on toilet paper .

Despite having given birth to her son Jaxo over a year ago she is still unable to break the bizarre eating habit and continues to consume an entire roll of toilet paper on a daily basis.

"Two months into the pregnancy, I started craving toilet roll. I still don't know why," she said. "I like the feeling of the texture in my mouth, rather than the taste. I like the dryness."

Jade suffers from a condition known as pica which is characterized by an anomalous craving for inedible objects. Some sufferers have been known to eat outdoor substances such as soil, sand and grass or household materials like carpet, paper or bath sponges.

"I thought the cravings would stop after I gave birth but they haven't. I can't quit. I keep coming back for more," said Jade. "It can't be doing my insides any good." I Went to a Witch Ritual and I’m Convinced They’re On to Something

This weekend I spent my Saturday night at a full moon ritual for witches. All of the people there — pagans, wiccans, and priestesses — had come together because they believed that if you didn’t like how things were going, you could invoke spirits to help you make changes IF the moon was full.

Everything about the women in the ritual room was witchy. One woman wore a glittery velvet black dress, her silver pentagram winking at me from her necklace. Another wore a pendant on her forehead. Some of their trailing temple cloths had symbols of Islam and Judaism. The stuff didn’t look like it could be purchased for Halloween.

I was willing to try it in case it worked. Maybe I could score a new Twitter follower out of it. Of course it would have been great if I could witness an evil person writhing in pain due to the spirit invocation, but being a witch was really about love and healing.

A handsome young guy approached me in a hooded robe. He offered me an anointment from his glass vial. He told me with complete conviction that it had lavender (for peace) rose (for love) and mugwort, which protected you from negative attachments to the evil spirit. It looked like a great way to knock yourself off, but fair enough.

Non-Denominational Church Conducting Deliverance Classes

Leaders at the Lighthouse Church in Wyoming, Delaware, have begun conducting “Exorcism Classes” for the masses. They have even been advertising the program as a way to get closer to God and act as his holy army.

The practice of ridding a body of a troublesome spirit dates back thousands of years. But to date, we have trusted only ordained ministers of the church to liberate people from the clutches of evil. Now the kind ministers at the Lighthouse Church, nestled between two homes on Route 15 and just across the street from the Wyoming Town Hall, are conducting classes which aim to teach common folks the dangerous act of pulling out evil spirits from a live human being – a practice commonly referred to as an exorcism.

The church’s door is adorned with a large banner that urges people to enlist in “God’s Army” to help eradicate Satan through the church’s teachings. Alongside pink and white flowers, the church also hangs an Israeli flag and weapons like a broadsword to complete the effect and ensure people they mean business.

Christopher Gore, a deliverance minister for the church, regularly holds three-hour-long sessions which discuss, at length, the history and necessity, along with the biblical roots, of exorcisms, reported Delaware Public Media. He explains how Jesus Christ and his disciples alike would cast out demons, but laments how the practice has slowly and steadily fallen out of popularity.

He says it is his duty to eradicate the fear associated with performing exorcisms.

“There’s a general lack of education among believers. They don’t read their Bible. They are looking for more people to kind of spoon feed them a feel-good message. If you’re thinking of a demon randomly inhabiting someone, that’s generally not how it happen. Daily stress in life can chip away at your very being, almost creating a landing pad for demonic energy to latch.”

He stresses that an evil spirit just doesn’t decide to invade a body, but the event occurs after multiple instances of the person wounding himself or herself over a period of time.

“But over time with multiple events, there is that one trigger point that just kind of pushes the person over the edge and we call it the ‘one wounding event’.”

Gore insists that exorcisms aren’t harmful or detrimental, but in fact can be perceived as therapeutic. However, exorcisms can vastly vary, taking anywhere between a couple of hours to a whole day “from dawn to dusk.”

All exorcisms start with a quite prayer, before investigations about the person’s past. Once the history is known, the actual process begins, which can be quite traumatizing for both, explained Gore.

“They can be punching, kicking, biting. Obviously, they cuss. When they get in this enraged state, they’re very angry, they’re very upset. When these spirits come out to the forefront, they do not like being disturbed. They do not like us coming at them with the power of God trying to set this person free.”

Some of the most commonly seen manifestations of increasing demonic influence are rampant drug abuse, elevated cancer rates and other common public health issues, cautions the minister in the class. Onwillekeurig voelt de mensheid dat de aardveranderingen in hoog tempo heftiger worden.

Er wordt weinig aandacht aan besteed, maar ook in de afgelopen maand december werden weer alle records gebroken.

Iedere keer wordt het allemaal net even erger. En telkens kijken we ernaar om vervolgens weer snel de andere kant op te kijken. Want er is zoveel gaande op dit moment op aarde dat onze aandacht vraagt en eigenlijk willen we ook liever niet alles weten.

De aardveranderingen die nu al een fiks aantal jaren bezig zijn, worden heftiger. Net zoals de gehele situatie op aarde heftiger wordt, in ieder opzicht.

In ieder geval heeft moeder Natuur besloten dat 2014 moest worden besloten met een spectaculaire toename van extreem weer in de maand december.

In het verre oosten van Rusland en het noordoosten van China werden complete steden begraven door sneeuwstormen. Zelfs een waterval in de Gele Rivier bevroor gedeeltelijk. Japan werd voor de tweede keer dit jaar getroffen door een record hoeveelheid sneeuw, terwijl een periode van extreme koude aan 150 mensen het leven kostte in het noorden van India.

Een week lang niet aflatende elektrische stormen brachten hagel en overstromingen naar de Australische stad Sydney, wat daar grote schade aanrichtte. Iets verder naar het zuiden verdwenen drie auto’s in een enorm sinkhole in de stad Melbourne.

Opnieuw massale hoeveelheden dode vissen en walvissen langs de kustlijnen, meren en rivieren. Dit is voor een deel te danken aan de toenemende vulkanische activiteit wereldwijd zoals we dat in december hebben kunnen waarnemen in Indonesië, Mexico, IJsland, Kaap Verdische Eilanden, Hawaï en Japan.

De Braziliaanse stad Sao Paulo die door de enorme droogte zonder water dreigde te komen, kreeg plotsklaps te maken met dusdanige heftige regenval dat de straten van de stad veranderden in rivieren.

Watertornado’s verschenen in Australië en in het Middellandse Zeegebied, voor het eerst in tientallen jaren werd het centrum van Los Angeles getroffen door een tornado. Deze “ongewone” uitbraak van tornado’s in het zuidwesten van Amerika heeft aan 5 mensen het leven gekost en tientallen mensen dakloos gemaakt.

De ergste overstromingen van de laatste decennia vonden plaats in zuidoost Azië, in het bijzonder in Maleisië en Sri Lanka. In deze gebieden werden een kwart miljoen mensen gedwongen om hun huizen te verlaten.

De Amerikaanse westkust werd gebombardeerd door een serie stormen die land- en modderverschuivingen veroorzaakten, blizzards die complete huizen en wegen wegspoelden. Aan de andere kant van de Atlantische Oceaan werden Ierland en Engeland geraakt door een zogenaamde “weerbom”, die zorgde voor monsterlijk hoge golven en winden van orkaankracht.

Het Middellandse Zeegebied kreeg te maken met sneeuwtormen en zelfs Malta zag sneeuw voor het eerst in meer dan 50 jaar.

Er werden opnieuw spectaculaire vuurbollen gefilmd boven Puerto Rico, Brazilië, Amerika, Canada, Spanje en Japan. We hebben overal ter wereld geweldige explosies in de lucht kunnen horen, waaronder ook in ons land.

Daarnaast weer de nodige spectaculaire UFO-opnames boven onder andere Santiago in Chili en het verschijnen van een gloeiend plasma licht boven Lima in Peru.

British Artist Believes Aliens Channel Through Him

An artist from Britain claimed to have experienced alien abduction, and now extraterrestrials are projecting ideas into his brain that inspire him to do more paintings.

Thirty-three-year-old Lloyd Canning believes extraterrestrials first captured him in 2005 after seeing a giant spaceship floating over his car. He says that he felt that he was obliged to paint particular images that he believes are ETs’ method of communicating with mankind.

Ex-scaffolder and a father of two children believes creatures from outside planet Earth are using him as a medium. He has quit his job and recently paints alien images full time.

Evesham, Worcs native, Lloyd, has used his claimed encounter to make arts that depict the characteristics of ETs and their planets. Afraid of being ridiculed, Lloyd kept his collection a secret. But now he has the determination to make his paintings available to the public by regularly exhibiting his work at alien conventions. He is planning for his very first international show.

Lloyd, who claims he has been visited by six extraterrestrial spaceships, says that he feels a load of anxiety when the visions are coming on, building up that sometimes lasted for days. Then he will get a clear idea in his mind that he just have to paint it.

He explains he had crazy visions since his first sighting and felt that he had no choice but to paint them. Lloyd thinks he was chosen because aliens know they could channel through him. He states that a new alien-themed image is sent to him nearly every week, the reason he has collected a broad collection of work.

He says he had his first extraterrestrial experience almost ten years ago when he was driving home after getting a new second-hand van. Lloyd claims he saw a large, round, bright spacecraft flying above him. Later in that night, he began to feel not well.

CIA Director UFOs are Real

Advanced Alien Technological Civilizations

The Classical 1961 Drake Equation estimated there were 3,500 advanced civilizations existing in the Milky Way. Italian Astronomer Claudio  Maccone updated the equations in 2010, based on the 1000 planets found outside our Solar System and added more than 1,000 civilizations to the previous estimate. He calculates our galaxy may harbor 4,590 extraterrestrial civilizations with closest about two light years away. Using the standard variation concept, which shows how much variation exists from the average value the estimate is 11,195 advanced civilizations. In other words, besides human society, zero to 15,785 advanced technological societies could exist in the Milky Way. Scientists are to acknowledge that large numbers of advanced technological civilizations exist but feel they could not reach us due to the great distances.

However, various scientists, engineers, cosmonauts and astronaut’s claim we are being visited by some of these advanced civilizations. It is slowly being considered by the scientific community as at least a possibility. The hundreds of contactees and abductees sworn statements are generally ignored. The government has spent billions building aircraft based on alien technology as confirmed by Ben Rich the Director of the Lockheed Skunkworks.

Roswell Craft by Bill McDonald

Rich Andrews a close personal friend of Ben Rich claims he was told ‘An’ item“ — as opposed to “‘The’ item” — was recovered near the world’s only combat operational atom bomb base (Roswell AAF) in 1947. The hull design, aerodynamic measurements and propulsion info was passed directly to Jack Northrop and Kelly Johnson, beginning in 1950, with a major block of data being passed on from Wright Patterson AFB’s Foreign Technologies Division in 1952. “‘The’ item” refers to the top secret designation of Kelly’s original variant of the U-2 (TR-1) spy plane in Congressional and Pentagon budgets in the 1950s.

SR-71 Blackbird

Nearly all “Biomorphic” aerospace designs were inspired by the Roswell spacecraft, from Kelly’s SR-71 Blackbird onward to today’s drones, UCAVs, and aerospace craft. The inward canted vertical stabilizers of the F-19, the Have Blue, many drones, some UCAVs, and the SR-71 matched the 30 degree inward cant of the Roswell spacecraft’s shark fin-shaped pair of vertical stabilizers or “Winglets.” The same goes for the wing camber to fuselage “Blend” of the airframe designs.  The outward cants of the F-22 Raptor, the F-117, the McDonnell Douglas YF-23, and the stealth concept prototypes perform similar aerodynamic functions for stability in high performance flight.

The Roswell ship was a winged metallic crystalline multilayered aerospace craft that could slam its way through the atmosphere riding its own shock wave just as the top secret aerospace “Waveriders” from Skunkworks are able to do. Ben Rich claimed publicly before his death, “We now have the technology to take ET home”.

The Sky People from these super-civilizations could initiate a series of open, public, dramatically-obvious demonstrations-of-presence such that the Government will then be compelled to publicly acknowledge alien visitors as a reality. During last summer 2000 UFO reports were recorded each month indicating a more brazen attitude by the visitors. A landing or low pass at a stadium with a popular athletic event covered with national television coverage would likely convince millions of the reality of UFOs and alien visitors.

The Sky People

 Dr. Ardy Sixkiller Clarke, a Professor Emeritus at Montana State University, has dedicated her life and career to working with indigenous populations. She is the author of Encounters with Star People, and has a new book titled, Sky People: Untold Stories of Alien Encounters in Mesoamerica. She decided to follow in the footsteps of two 19th-century explorers, John L. Stephens and Frederick Catherwood, who brought the ancient Maya cities to the world’s attention. Dr. Clarke set out on a seven-year adventure (from 2003 through 2010) through Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico, driving 12,000 miles, visiting 89 archaeological sites.

Dr. Clarke collected stories of encounters, sky gods, giants, little people, and aliens among the indigenous people.

Many indigenous peoples told Dr. Clarke stories of beings from the stars but few pseudo-scientists have given credence to their stories. Science assumed superiority of thought over the collective memory of humanity. The Enlightenment’s insistence on an objective, sterile, and amoral investigation marshaled in a new era that valued supposed rationality. The authority of truth that was once regulated to truth was regulated to myth and legend. Even stories told universally in tribal cultures across the world were ignored and not recognized as legitimate. Now it turns out that almost all the world’s history that is based on carbon dating turns out to be highly inaccurate. The earth is likely much younger that science tells us.

Science claims we came from the primordial soup millions of years ago and by a series of chances we became apes and eventually homo-sapiens. Beliefs of many world cultures claim we are in fact the offspring of the Star Gods or Sky people.

Encounters with the Star People: Untold Stories of American Indians offers up a collection of intimate narratives of encounters between contemporary American Indians, UFOs and Extraterrestrials. The first person accounts, described as conscious experiences and recalled without the aid of hypnosis, reveal a worldview that unquestionably accepts the reality of Aliens or Star People.  The stories also reveal cultures that almost universally regard Star People as ancestors, which allows for interactions that take place without fear and helps explain the uniqueness of the encounters and experiences.  The stories range from an account of a UFO crash landing on a reservation where a team of alien scientists waited for a rescue, the unveiling of a petrified alien heart to an elder who had earned the title of “the man who shot an alien” among his family and friends.  Others told stories of aliens who assumed human identity, and were quietly inhabiting Earth to a race of aliens who lived underground.

Some were adept at technology; others had never used a cell phone, owned a computer or a television set. A few of the stories were about events that occurred before the 1947 Roswell incident, however, the majority of the events took place between 1990 and 2010. This book contributes to the knowledge about UFOs from a group that until now have mostly remained silent. For readers, it is likely they will never look at the UFO/Alien phenomenon in the same way again.

Dr Clarke visits a Maya elder in Chapter 12 who claims the Mayans had a star map of the universe with the planets of other civilizations. The Mayans were brought here from a home planet that has a jungle climate and mountains like Guatemala. Even today their prayers and chants allow them to speak to the Sky People. The ancient Mayans were great astronomers, built pyramids and observatories. This Mayan elder claims he has met the Sky People and flown in their craft to distant places. They warned of great catastrophe, that a great volcano will open under the sea and all the land connecting North and South America will drop into the ocean. The next decade will bring great suffering on Earth. The Maya will be taken by the Sky People to safety and later some will be returned to Earth and to other planets. The book provides fascinating stories from Mayans and Meso-American people who have close encounters with the Sky People. The book is certainly worth reading and ties in to similar stories from American Indians.

President Changes Alien Immigration Polices

President Obama is drastically changing immigration policies for an 11 million illegal aliens by executive order.  The wording would also allow Extraterrestrials to become US citizens. There have been frequent reports of ET being seen in the US so I wonder if the surprising announcement allows aliens from other planets to gain drivers license and citizenship. The policies help the most promising foreign graduate students in science and math stay in this country after graduation, and reunites families in a timely and humane manner.

The President’s proposal provides undocumented immigrants and (E.T.) with a legal way to earn citizenship so they can come out of the shadows. It holds them accountable by requiring they pass background checks for criminal activity, pay taxes and a penalty, and learn English. The movie Alien at the Pentagon, several Lockheed employees, and people calling me that identified themselves being from other planets makes me wonder.

Is Someone Sabotaging Our Weather?

 The Jet Stream has moved south creating a state of emergency in thirty states spreading snow, sleet, and freezing rain across the region on January 6, 2015, and several following days with temperatures of -6° in Chicago and falling below freezing throughout most of the country. Jet streams form at the boundaries of adjacent air masses with significant differences in temperature, such as the polar region and the warmer air to the south. The jet stream is mainly found in the tropopause, at the transition between the troposphere (where temperature decreases with height) and the stratosphere (where temperature increases with height

The US has led establishment of economic sanctions against the Russians for their military actions in the Ukraine and Saudi Arabia has continued high levels of oil production causing a glut of oil and falling prices. The sanctions and oil prices below $50 a barrel are creating problems with the Russian economy. Several

Russian Haarp facilities (shown) are likely working to punish the US by changing the path of the jet stream as it flows around the world. Haarp facilities could be affecting the weather in the US and Northern Europe bringing the jet stream further south than normal. Successful Russian rain making equipment exported to Mexico also likely adding to the severe drought conditions in California.

China may be also affecting our weather as it is already spending $100 million to make rain as scientists and employees are actively changing the weather. The Beijing Weather Modification Office is part of China’s nationwide weather control effort, believed to be the world’s largest; it employs 37,000 people nationwide putting silver iodide into clouds. Although we successfully created rain over the roads in Vietnam we seem to falling behind in the weather control race.

Earth’s Shield Blocks Killer Electrons

Van Allen Belts are Earth’s Shield

 Killer electrons’ whip around Earth at near-light speed. If they hit Earth, they could knock out power grids and change its climate. Earth has a magical shield found 7,200 miles (11,600 km) above Earth known as the Van Allen belts. Scientists are baffled as to how the shield formed, who put it there, and how it works. ‘It’s almost like these electrons are running into a glass wall,’ said Professor Daniel Baker from the University of Colorado Boulder. An invisible shield, protecting Earth has been found blocking ‘killer electrons’ and solar flares with powerful bursts of radiation from bombarding our planet. These electrons can whip around the planet at near-light speed and have been known to threaten astronauts, fry satellites and damage space systems. If they hit Earth on a large scale, they could knock out power grids, disrupt cell phones and the internet, radically change the planet’s climate, and drive up rates of cancer. This shield has been protecting Earth since at least when Explorer 1 and 3 confirmed the existence of the belt in early 1958 as discovered by James Van Allen at the University of Iowa. The radiation belt is a layer of energetic charged particles that are thought to be held in place by the Earth’s magnetic field. Earth has two such belts and sometimes others that may be temporarily created. Without them life may not have developed on Earth as the beta radiation levels would be dangerous to humans.  Infrared rays change the chemical structure of the molecule which is especially detrimental to living organisms.

‘Somewhat like the shields created by force fields on Star Trek (pictured) that were used to repel alien weapons, we are seeing an invisible shield blocking these electrons,’ said Professor Daniel. It’s unlikely the shields  developed simply by chance. They may have been formed by our sacred geometry of the Creator or by alien visitors. There are thousands of factors that have made intelligent life on Earth possible indicating intelligent design. Science tells us we evolved by acccident from the primordial soup, and gradually developed like humanoid apes and then into humans. It is my feeling whoever protected Earth with a shield also created us.

December UFO Reports

In December MUFON received 496 UFO reports less than half of the reports during the summer months. Apparently the UFOs go home for Christmas or people are too busy to report them. There were United States 397, Canada 28, India 6, Australia 5, Spain 5 Mexico 3 Argentina Brazil, Portugal and Turkey, each had 2 reports.

The National UFO Reporting Center November Monthly Report had 524 sighting reports.

California B-2

Pasadena — My son and I taped the B-2 Stealth fly-over the Rose Parade at 8:00 am, on January 1, 2015. The following day, I noticed there was a round object in the background. It is not a clear video with the object in a distance. I further researched other footage on YouTube, and I did find another video that shows its moves, as it disappears, and reappears. The picture shows the B-2 Stealth fly-over at the start of the annual Rose Parade on Colorado Boulevard. The video I am including is the one my son took. My fiancé and I were driving on Highway 285 on our way to some hot springs for vacation on December 14, 2014. The surrounding area was very beautiful so she decided take some pictures. As she was she noticed an object on the screen she started to try to find it without using the phone and was asking if I could see anything.  When she realized she could only see it through the camera screen she quickly took a couple pictures. Neither of us saw anything with our naked eyes, but in the photos it appears. The object was traveling vary fast and we were driving at 65 mph and the pictures were taken only a few seconds apart but the object moved drastically. Thanks to MUFON CMS

 Mauna Kea — This live cam is really interesting and has caught a lot of UFOs over the years. I reported UFOs on it several years ago and this current sighting is absolutely fantastic and was taken in late December 2014. This is a long cigar shaped UFO, very similar in shape to the UFO seen entering the mouth of a volcano near Mexico City. Live cams are extremely useful tools of the UFO hunter. Illinois Orange Light

Chicago — Close to midnight on January 1, 2015, I looked at the night sky and saw this orange light in the sky coming in my direction. I knew it wasn’t a plane, and had no flashing red lights, no white or yellow lights. Silently it flew directly overhead and just kept going until it was out of sight. Thanks to MUFON CMS

New Hampshire Photo

 Milford — I was taking photos of my grandchildren on November 28, 2014. We were out in the porch which we seldom use because it’s unheated. That window views our side lot which is also unused because it’s so close to the neighbor. I didn’t see anything unusual until I looked at the photos that night and then I saw those alien-like images as if they were staring in the window at us. So the next day I went outside at the same time of day (3 PM I believe as it’s been a year now) to see if there were any branches or anything that might cast those illusions, but I cannot account for the spherical shapes of their heads or the dark eyes. Note: At first I thought that the images were reflections, but given the response of the witness that does not seem likely. Perhaps someone could have been playing a joke on the witness? Or perhaps the images are real? The images are transparent and the background of the outdoors can be seen through them. It is not believed that the photos have been fabricated. The original photos have been requested. (Only one of the photos is displayed in this report.)

New Jersey Light

  Paulsboro — At about 5 minutes before midnight on New Year’s Eve 2014, I stepped outside to listen to the annual neighborhood racket. At 12:04 AM, as the sound of firecrackers and distant hollering subsided, I noticed a bright pinkish orange ball of light approaching from the east. It silently drifted closer, and I watched it through some nearby trees as close as 80 yards, when it turned in a northerly direction and drifted out of sight. About a minute later, a second identical ball of light came from the same direction and turned north at the same spot. I ran inside and grabbed my DVD video recorder and zoomed in on the second object but failed to have the damned record button pushed in! The object had the outline of one of those old style milk bottles as it drifted north. There was an outline of pinkish light that changed direction from an east to north. I do not know how an object being carried along by the wind could do that.

On July 4, 2013, at 10 pm, I witnessed 14 of these orbs drift across the Delaware River toward Philadelphia Airport. Last New Year’s Eve, with numerous people and I witnessed a flotilla of these objects drifting a hundred feet off the ground. Keep up the good work. Tabernacle – While walking in my driveway at 10:50 pm, on December 26, 2014, I observed a brighter than normal anomaly which appeared to be a star to the left of the constellation Orion, in the southwest sky. Because I had reported similar sightings in March and April of this year, I recognized the physical characteristics of this object. It moved quickly, changed directions constantly, and pulsated in various colors rapidly. I noticed a similar appearing anomaly that was extremely bright, in the southeast. It had the same characteristics as the other one. I obtained my cell phone from the house and captured both anomalies on video, where I could see the orb like shapes moving very rapidly and changing colors. The one to the southeast appeared closer. After having my two daughters, age 16 and 8, come outside to witness these anomalies, I obtained my digital camera and took still photos of both. Both objects remained in their positions while I returned inside. I then downloaded the videos and still photos onto my computer and examined them closer, where pausing the videos at various times would reveal the many colors that both objects exhibited. New Mexico Object

Roy — I was driving back into town from my ranch when I noticed a bright white light in my side view mirror. There were no other vehicles on the road so I pulled over and got out of my truck and saw a large white object in the sky. The sun had just set and there was no moon out that night. I took a picture and continued driving back into town. About 10 minutes later I was back home and looked up in the same direction and nothing was there. Thanks to MUFON CMS

  Winston Salem — I saw a white-violet orb that moved with great speed on December 13, 2014…

 Rocky Mount — My wife and I spotted something on the flight today from Philadelphia to Orlando Airport at 11:50 AM, on January 1, 2015. We were able to snap a picture.

Ohio Lights

  Payne — On Friday evening, January 2, 2015, my family was driving 8 miles outside of town and we observed a bright white light in the sky near Payne. As we got closer, I asked my wife what it was and that airplanes do not have bright white lights unless landing or taking off. She noted it had some blinking red lights with it as well. As we drew closer we could tell it was hovering silently. We got to the point where it was about 200 yards away from us and about 1000 feet in the air. At this point we could tell it was not an airplane and took a couple pictures.  It started moving slowly and then accelerated to a speed well over 300 mph and disappeared in 30 seconds.  Wyomissing – On January 1, 2015, my daughter and I saw the light after going outside to look at the moon. We saw two lights together flying fast across the sky.

We then went to the front of our house and walked down the street where we saw a single light and plus three more lights! Thanks to MUFON CMS

 Ingleside — I saw three balls of stationary light that rotated counter clockwise.

 Willard – My son was outside with friend and noticed a bright, hovering object in sky on January 1, 2015.

Worldwide UFO Reports

Australia Orbs

 Adelaide – On January 2, 2015, we noticed many orbs flashing in and fading out in the sky. The night was dark turning the moon blood orange from a catastrophic bushfire in the Adelaide Hills. We were having a sky spotting evening.
All activity was sighted between 9 PM and midnight as the orbs moved towards the fire area. We saw 8 orbs in total over a few hours during the evening, moving west to east, toward and over the bushfire area. We are immune to the excitement of spotting orbs, and calmly point out the phenomena as we see so many. I hurried out of the pool and I got the video of another orb. We witnessed the orb eject another orb and both orbs continued on the same trajectory. The video is jumpy. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Brazil Lights

 Camburi – At 10:30 PM on December 19, 2014, my fiancée, her sister’s boyfriend and I upon leaving a restaurant in Sao Sebastian SP we witnessed a UFO in the sky travel from about 40 degrees NE to 220 degrees SW. After the object passed overhead it zigzagged again NW to SE then suddenly disappeared in an upward direction. The object had a bright whitish green glow in the shape of a perfect circle. The distance looked to be about the same as a jet plane would travel 30,000 feet. It would be impossible for a plane to travel so fast not to mention the quickness it zigzagged. Avaré — Was in Jurumirim reservoir photographing the sunset on January 2, 2015, and photographed the jet skiers with the bridge in the background. I took three photos in an interval of two seconds between them.

Then I saw that there was an object in the sky and I took two pictures of it with the zoom lens and another without the zoom to give a composite photo. I took pictures and I continued shooting the sunset.

 Canada Lights and Discs

NB – I noticed three lights that were diagonal flashing like crazy on December 29, 2014. After realizing that it wasn’t a plane I called my daughter outside to see. Neither of us could figure out exactly what we were seeing so we got my camera and I began recording. The object began to move around and change shape. It flew lower changing to a triangle shape. I do have video footage of it on YouTube. Going through the photos it seemed to be rotating. The green glare objects were really low and barely visible above the roof.  You could see the green glare perfectly in front of the object. Eventually it went below the trees. Thanks to MUFON CMS

 Botwood, Newfoundland – My parent’s friends were driving on New Year’s Eve when they noticed multiple lights in the sky to the northeast. They pulled over and took a picture as the shapes divided into sections, and flew off at high speed in different directions. The picture shows one group of the lights but there were more off to the right. We thought maybe they were dash light reflections but we looked at the Ford F-150 dash lights themselves and nothing resembled anything in the picture. India Object

  Chikhaldara, Nagpur, and Mahara — We are a God fearing Christian family and went to Chikhaldara Hill Station for a family trip on October 21, 2014.  We were talking about UFOs and Aliens and one new believer didn’t seem to agree. On 22nd we went to the ‘Pancahabol’ range of mountains where you can hear an echo 5 times. Here we shouted the word ‘Hallelujah’ several times and enjoyed the echo and asked the local photographer to take a family picture. When we developed the photo we observed this strange object in backdrop which when zoomed looks like a UFO. There have been more than 30 suicides at his location. When the event occurred; the new believer was shocked and we all praised God.

Japan lights in the sky

Yokohama — I saw strange lights in the sky at Yokohama city on the three lights stayed hovering then they changed their formation and number of lights (0-7 on December 19, 2014, 6:06:45 AM. No sound was made. Thanks to Peter Davenport Director www.UFOCenter.com

Kuwait Object

 Kuwait City — We were at our house on January 1, 2014,  celebrating New Year’s day around noon when we saw three black objects in a equilateral triangle formation hovering about 600 feet above the ground. We knew for sure that this was not a human vehicle and it must have been a ufo from how perfect the three objects were in an exact triangle. The ufo had three objects in one corner of a triangle formation. It was hovering over the ground for 20 seconds and then it flashed away in a matter of seconds. We lost sight of it flying north away in a matter of seconds. Thanks to MUFON CMS

New Zealand Spot

 Gisborne – After a day of dining and wine tasting and going to Matawhero Wineland, we headed back to the car. My family was already in the car and I decided to take a picture with my iPhone 6 with everyone inside the car on December 30, 2014.
Just before entering the car I took another picture of a crowd of young adults playing cricket. I was scrolling through my photos, and came across a dark spot in the background. The second picture did not contain any spots on the lens.  I investigated further by editing and zooming into the photo and it the dark object clearly has a UFO shape.

Portugal Orb

 Lajes Field – We were taking off from the island of Terceira, Azores on 28 December 2014, at 2 PM, flying in a 757 Cargo/passenger plane. Ten minutes after takeoff as I was settling down for the 5 hour trip to Baltimore, I saw an orb that was shaped as a circle. I could see thru it with a continual rainbow in the outer rim, with a yellowish glow in the center. It was below and to the right of the plane. I started to record a video from my window.  I took pictures as I was recording with my phone and stopped after two minutes and checked the video.  When I looked back it was gone. Puerto Rico Disc

 Caribbean Sea – We were flying from Boston over the Atlantic Ocean about an hour and half before arriving in Puerto Rico on July 28, 2007. I was taking a few shots of the puffy clouds and decided to shut the camera off. A minute later we both witness a triangular-dome shape silvery UFO space craft lift up from the Atlantic Ocean and hover next to our aircraft.

Once it lifted up, it stayed in formation next to our aircraft for five minutes. Then it moved 150 feet forward but staying next to our aircraft. We were the only ones that had their windows open. My partner watched while the UFO sped away and upward at incredible speed, something we have never seen before.  Thanks to MUFON CMS

 Newton Abbot Devon – On December 1, 2014, I went outside for some fresh air and caught glimpse of an object that was slowly moving erratically across the sky. I quickly ran inside to grab my camera. When I ran back outside the UFO was still there and had come to a stop. As soon as I tried to take a photo of the UFO it started to move.

The UFO then sped off at an incredible speed I only just managed to take a photo before it disappeared from view. The UFO seemed to be crescent shaped. You can clearly see structure to it. The photo was taken at 3:20 PM. Thanks to William Puckett, Director Http://www.UFOsnw.com

Weston Super Mare — It was just after 10 pm, on December 31, 2014, when my father asked me to have a look at strange lights in the sky. He knows I like star gazing so I looked to see two really bright lights in the sky. One was brighter than the other, we were both amazed how strange and close it looked.

I got my phone and took pictures, while my father showed it to a neighbor! We looked at the picture of a strange cylinder and tried to get more but it got cloudy. I have more pictures of UFOs taken on December 8, 2014. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Witness said:
Today I filmed a strange video at 5:30 am this Monday, 12.23.2014 at about 25 km from Toulouse above the town of Auriac vendinelle. While I was not sleeping I saw a bright light in the sky that caught my attention. More violent than car headlights at night I could not look away this strange ball of light. I could see the other stars because the conditions were clear, but the light shone much more than the other stars and was much closer to me. I could estimate the distance. I pulled out my camera to film this and thus hope to learn more. I also specifies that there was no obstacle, tree or other between me and this ball of light, so I can not explain these particular shades that you can see on the video. The noise you hear at the beginning is the zoom on my camera as this phenomenon was silent. Not very reassured I went to go see a half hour after that was said light.

Attraction offers Zombie Santa and undead elves for charity

A Nashville-area haunted house is getting into the Christmas spirit this weekend, with Zombie Santa, his undead elves and one demonic reindeer going on the attack for fun and charity.

"Instead of Christmas cheer, we are spreading some holiday fear," said Carroll Moore, who is turning his Halloween season "Death Yard Haunted Attraction" in Hendersonville into a Yuletide horror show this Friday and Saturday.

For $10 and an unwrapped new toy, visitors can pass through the 13,000-square-foot warehouse northeast of Nashville crammed with horrors. For $5 more, they can go to the paintball range just outside and take 15 shots at Zombie Santa and his friends.

"You can unload on the undead," Moore said. "Maybe Santa Claus wasn't good to you last year."

The unwrapped new toys will go to Last Minute Toy Store, which operates out of a Nashville church and gives parents who cannot afford toys a chance to look for things their children might want, for no cost.

Moore said he hopes his Zombie Christmas attraction will become just as much a holiday tradition as driving around to look at lights or going to see the Rockettes.

Moore is also offering chainsaw-wielding maniacs and killer clowns, dressed for the holidays.

Nita Haywood, who helps run the Last Minute Toy Store at the 61st Avenue United Methodist Church, where she is director of children, youth and family ministries, said she will visit Horrific Haunted Holiday.

"It's different, but new toys are new toys. And what a way to get teens involved," she said. - Yahoo

"Black Widow" Suspected of Killing at Least a Half-Dozen Men

A Japanese woman facing trial for poisoning her husband with cyanide may have also murdered as many as six former boyfriends, authorities say.

Police initially thought Chisako Kakehi's husband, Isao, died of a heart attack—until they discovered traces of cyanide in his blood. Investigators say at least six of Kakehi's romantic interests—all older, well-situated men—met similar ends.

Reports also suggest money was a factor, and Kakehi is rumored to have collected as much as $8 million from her dead paramours. Via the New York Times:

All were at least moderately wealthy, with homes and ample savings accounts accumulated over a lifetime of work in order to enjoy a comfortable retirement. Most died soon after drawing up wills that named her as the sole beneficiary.
Police also say they found a sachet of cyanide hidden in a flowerpot Kakehi tried to throw away.

Bright Green Sphere w/ White Lights

Copperopolis, CA - 12/9/2014: While taking a photo of the sunrise this morning, I noticed a shiny disk in my picture. I waited a few minutes and took another shot. The disc was still there. I then enlarged the photo by zooming it and noticed a bright green round sphere with white dots on it. I even took another picture of the sky and the disc was still there. I waited a few minutes and took another picture and the sky had become covered in clouds so the disk was no longer visible. I immediately contacted MUFON. This occurred on December 9th at about 7 am. - MUFON CMS

Batemans Bay yowie sighting an Australian first

We uncover a little known piece of Australian history and in doing so rekindle a long running argument between an amateur and professional scientist.

Batemans Bay holds a significant place in Australian yowie history.

This will be new information for many locals, but a dig through the archives unearths a rich history around this mythical Bigfoot-type creature and the South East of New South Wales.

Aboriginal communities are said to have known about and named the yowie prior to Cook and Phillip dropping anchor. It is believed that white man contact with the yowie was first documented in a formal sense on December 9 1882 in The Australian Town and Country Journal.

Amateur naturalist Henry James McCooey wrote of his encounter with a strange creature in bushland between Batemans Bay and Ulladulla.

His words from 132 years ago conjure a jaw-dropping image.

He writes:

"A few days ago I saw one of these strange animals in an unfrequented locality on the coast between Bateman's Bay and Ulladulla. My attention was attracted to it by the cries of a number of small birds which were pursuing and darting at it. When I first beheld the animal it was standing on its hind legs, partly upright, looking up at the birds above it in the bushes, blinking its eyes and distorting its visage and making a low chattering kind of noise. Being above the animal on a slight elevation and distant from it less than a chain, I had ample opportunity of noting its size and general appearance.

"I should think that if it were standing perfectly upright it would be nearly 5ft high. It was tailless and covered with very long black hair, which was of a dirty red or snuff-colour about the throat and breast. Its eyes, which were small and restless, were partly hidden by matted hair that covered its head. The length of the fore legs or arms seemed to be strikingly out of proportion with the rest of its body, but in all other respects its build seemed to be fairly proportional. It would probably weigh about 8st. On the whole it was a most uncouth and repulsive looking creature, evidently possessed of prodigious strength, and one which I should not care to come to close quarters with. Having sufficiently satisfied my curiosity, I throw a stone at the animal, whereupon it immediately rushed off, followed by the birds, and disappeared in a ravine which was close at hand."
What a sight!

Myf Thompson, volunteer curator at the Old Court House Museum in Batemans Bay, says it's a piece of the town's history that is news to her and isn't widely known.

Upon learning of this local yowie link, Myf tossed her plans for the day out the window and researched further. The National Libraries bank of digitized newspapers along with Wikipedia and various yowie websites combined to add to the story.

Myf uncovered a stand-off between McCooey and the curator of the Australian Museum in Sydney at the time, Edward Pierson Ramsay.

Records suggest that Mr Ramsay questioned the existence of such a creature which in those days of the colony was also described as an 'Australian ape'.

Looking at those early documents, Myf believes that McCooey and his claims were poo-pooed by academics like Ramsay because he was an amateur.

We only have one side of the back and forth between the two but clearly it's a passionate debate.

Again in The Australian Town and Country Journal, McCooey writes:

"The mere fact of no apes [are] found in the Sydney Museum does not justify us in rushing to the conclusion that there are none in the colony, for it is extremely improbable that any ape will be foolhardy enough to present itself at the museum to undergo the somewhat delicate operation of stuffing; and beyond the fact that there are, none to be found in the Sydney Museum there is not one scintilla of evidence to prove that they are not to be found in the colony, while there is abundance of evidence to show that they are."

Imagine Ramsay's reaction at reading that.

McCooey goes on trying to prove his case:

"I do not claim to be the first who has seen this animal, for I can put my finger on half a dozen men at Bateman's Bay who have seen the same, or at any rate an animal of a similar description; but I think I am the first to come forward in the columns of a newspaper and give publicity to the fact of having seen it.

"I may mention that a search party was organised at Bateman's Bay some months ago to surround the locality [and] the supposed ape... and shoot or capture it, but the idea was abandoned in consequence of the likelihood of gun accidents; and I may further state that the skeleton of an ape, 4ft in length, may be seen at any time in a cave 14 miles from Bateman's Bay, in the direction of Ulladulla."
It appears that in December of 1882, Ramsay offered McCooey 100 pounds to bring in his yowie dead or alive. McCooey believed it was a challenge he could meet but, as far as we can tell, the 100 pounds wasn't claimed.

Eleven months later on October 20 1883 the discourse is still bubbling between the two men.

McCooey, writing from Mandurama between Bathurst and Cowra on October 15 1883, says:

"...the position taken by the Curator of the Museum is absolutely untenable... there are indigenous apes in this colony...they have been frequently seen in Budawong mountains, in Jingera mountains, and in the Abercrombie mountains, at Bateman's Bay, at Mount Macdonald, and on the Guy Fawkes-road between Armidale and Grafton...apes were known to the aborigines of this colony, and were dreaded by them, long before a museum was founded in Australia, or a white man crossed the Murray; and that one was actually captured and killed near Braidwood within the memory of persons still living."

Referring to her understanding of the research, Myf Thompson feels Ramsay questioned McCooey's motivations, suggesting he was more interested in claiming the money, and that it was the amateur naturalist who suggested the cash reward not him. Ramsay's impression is perhaps built on talk at the time of McCooey's criminal record which points to claims of fraud.

Ramsay also seemed to suggest that the Australian landscape couldn't sustain a creature such as McCooey's.

Speculation continues to this day about the existence of a yowie in local bush land.

Callers to ABC South East point to sightings and gossip between 1960 and the early 80s around the Budawangs and at the top of Clyde Mountain at the head of the Clyde River, adding to McCooey's case. However, like Ramsay 130 years ago, we wait for firm evidence.

What isn't in doubt is Batemans Bay's connection with this unique Australian story, perhaps rediscovering it in 2014 will bring more talk.

Canada's sasquatch experts search for truth

The sasquatch scientific community is not a large group but two Canadian researchers stand tall in their midst.

Thomas Steenburg and John Green are among the elite of researchers with a large body of work, both published and Internet-based.

“I’ve been involved in sasquatch research since 1957,” said the retired 87-year-old Green who lives in Harrison Hot Springs, B.C. and is regarded as a cryptozoology authority. “In fact, I started hunting sasquatch when the village of Harrison Hot Springs decided to hunt for the sasquatch. I did a story on it, and it started what has turned into a lifelong quest. My wife and I went down to Bluff Creek, California in 1958 and began making plaster casts of prints found near a logging road.”

He said efforts were later made to discredit the footprints claiming them to be man-made and faked, a notion that has followed nearly every footprint discovery since then.

“While I have not seen a sasquatch myself, I have investigated hundreds of sightings. I have seen the Patterson-Gimlin film, and I believe that they are real,” said Green during a telephone interview. “After all, why would anyone want to fake anything like that?”
The octogenarian author noted he was in the area of California where the famed film was taken a few weeks prior, and was taken to a site where nearly 500 footprints were found by a contractor, made by possibly three individual Bigfoot walking along a road. By the time he arrived, all he could find was a handful, but he took casts of them.

“The issue of whether or not sasquatch is real depends on a couple of issues, those being how did it come across to North America, and how can we link it to any physical evidence.”

The researcher believes the creature to be an entirely different species than humanoids, and an advanced primate, adding that DNA evidence may already be in our possession but we don’t recognize it. There have been discoveries of a huge Asian ape made that might possibly be our sasquatch dating back only 10,000 years ago.

“Scientists seem to automatically tag a bipedal discovery as ‘human’, where they may really be part of the sasquatch story,” said Green. “We also have to wonder why we have not found any recent skeletons, but due to the likely small number and habitats it would have to be a miracle to find one.”

He added that it is virtually impossible for someone to fake footprints worldwide for so long without some evidence of their efforts. The work to create the mystery would not be worth the effort.

"In this field things are upside down and backwards," said Green. "The people who investigate are called 'believers' and the people who believe there can't be any such thing and therefore don't investigate are called scientists. Researchers fall in the middle, and say show me the evidence.” - Innisfail Province

UFO sighting over Vancouver, Washington on 2nd December 2014

Witness said:
A family member of mine knew I am in this field of research and caught some strange lights that he could not explain with his cell phone. He is ex-military and I would consider him a sound individual with good discernment. The anomalies in the video were recorded December 2nd in the evening approximately at 18:00 in Vancouver, WA near the Westfield Shopping Center. There were 4 lights that went from dim to super bright lights just hanging in the sky for 10 minutes or so and then just kind of flew off. He did not record the whole observation, rather just 2 and a half minutes of the occurrence. He thought that one of the lights could have been an airplane, but the path it took was kind of odd for an airplane not to mentions they seemed way to close together. The lights/objects were East of where he was standing. They didn’t appear to be too far away, if he had to guess he would say about 5-10 miles out. They were way too low to the ground to be any type of commercial airliner in his opinion. They all seem to be hovering until the top one (shown in the video) started moving to the North/Northwest.

Joshua, Texas - 10/24/2012 - Not sure of the exact date, but it was getting cold in the weather. And it was in 2012 during the big shooting stars show close to winter. Those clues could narrow the date down to one who knows how to search for such. I was watching for the shooting stars when above me I saw a strange dark basketball sized cloud hovering and flying in an arc like path. I called my wife and two kids out to see it. Over the course of 3-4 hours we saw multiple ufos larger in size some were triangle shaped a few looked like a giant eagle. They glided overhead at different speeds. Then when we thought it was all over, just over a nearby tree top a giant light blue almost transparent stingray shape was just hovering there with pulsing white blue lights. It had to be over 500 ft long. Then it was just gone. After that searchlights like a light house in the distance was circling. Off in the western horizon. When the ufos would glide by we lost sight of them easily because they blended in with the night sky so well. My step daughter was scared at the time but the rest of us were exited at what we were seeing. This all happened over a year ago so I'm sure I've forgotten some of it. Then a little over a month ago me and my son were just looking up and we happened to see two really fast dark clouds fly by. They were actually pyramidish shape and also made no noise. 'Star Trek' Flashback: Leonard Nimoy Notes 50 Year Anniversary of Original Pilot Shoot

Note that he said “the first” pilot. He’s referring to “The Cage,” written by show creator Gene Roddenberry and directed by Robert Butler, which was presented to — and rejected by — NBC more than a year before the series finally debuted in 1966. Despite being turned down by the network, and featuring a cast almost entirely different from the show fans would come to love later, “The Cage” actually made it to air as part of the first season of Star Trek, with scenes edited into a two-part story titled “The Menagerie” that aired Nov. 17 and 24, 1966.

Although “The Cage” was rejected on grounds of being “too slow” and “too intellectual [with] not enough action,” NBC wasn’t ready to say no to the series just yet, asking Roddenberry to rework the concept and create a second pilot. In the process of reworking, he dropped the entire cast with the exception of Nimoy and brought in William Shatner as the new captain of the Starship Enterprise. A legend was about to be born.

As Star Trek gained popularity, the original version of “The Cage” became popular in its own right; it was screened at fan conventions before being released on home video in 1986 as part of the show’s 20th anniversary celebrations. It wasn’t until 1988 that it finally aired on television, as part of a franchise retrospective titled The Star Trek Saga: From One Generation to the Next.

The official 50th anniversary of Star Trek is 2016 — Sept. 8, 2016, to be exact — but the roots of the entire mythology have already reached their half-century mark. Did Moses really part the Red Sea?

A new study has indicated that there is a scientific basis for the parting of a large body of water.

The miraculous parting of the Red Sea that enabled the Israelites to escape from Egypt is one of the best known biblical stories, a tale that has even made its way on to the silver screen both in the Charlton Heston classic The Ten Commandments and more recently in Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings.

But did these events actually occur - did Moses really part the waters of the Red Sea ? As it turns out there is a scientific basis to support the idea that something like this could happen.

In a recent study, software engineer Carl Drews created a computer model to demonstrate that a phenomenon known as "wind setdown" might be the key to explaining what happened.

Under certain conditions it is possible for strong winds to produce a significant enough storm surge in one area of a lake for another part to be completely emptied of water. This peculiar occurance has actually happened quite recently both in Lake Erie and in the Nile Delta.

Drews maintains that, based on archaeological evidence, the events described in the story actually took place at the Lake of Tanis in the Eastern Nile Delta, not the Red Sea as is commonly told.

Using the model he was able to show that the conditions at the time were favorable and that the lake could have parted in this way at the time Moses and the Israelites were escaping Egypt. Read more at Smithsonian Magazine
