MUFON's mission is the analytical and scientific investigation of the UFO- Phenomenon for the benefit of humanity... Since 02/01/2020 is Pieter ex-president (=voorzitter) of BUFON, but also ex-National Director MUFON / Flanders and the Netherlands. We work together with the French MUFON Reseau MUFON/EUROP.

Stephen Hawking: Black holes are a PORTAL to another universe

BLACK holes are a portal to another universe, Stephen Hawking has sensationally claimed.

    hawking

Stephen Hawking says black holes may be a portal to another universe

In a newly published paper, the eminent physicist has theorised that black holes, which scientists still know little about, could be a portal to another universe.

It had been thought that black holes have such a strong gravitational pull that even light cannot escape from them and that they are all consuming of everything within their reach.

However, the 74-year old has now said that they might not be as dangerous as previously thought and may just be a door to another universe.

Writing in a paper, alongside Andrew Strominger from Harvard and Malcolm Perry from Cambridge University, Hawking addressed the belief that black holes have “no hair”.

    GETTY

What goes into a black hole might come back out

The study, Physical Review Letters, said that anything that went into a black hole was lost forever.

However, the basic laws of the universe state that anything that has ever been in the universe is preserved via its “information”.

This led to a paradox as it was assumed that anything that fell into a black hole was gone.

    black hole

    GETTY

    Black holes have baffled scientists

But since last year, Hawking has been stating that all is not lost inside a black hole.

He said last year: “Black holes are not the eternal prisons they were once thought.

“If you feel you are trapped in a black hole, don’t give up. There is a way out.

“The existence of alternative histories with black holes suggests this might be possible.

“The hole would need to be large and if it was rotating it might have a passage to another universe. But you couldn’t come back to our universe.”

His latest paper states that black holes do indeed have “hair” which either stores the information on the boundary or the event horizon.

This would mean, according to the paper, that if you were looking at a black hole in the right way – in the distant future for example – you would be able to see the hairs of a black hole which store the information.

Live fast, die young: Alien life in the universe is COMMON but doesn’t last long

ALIEN life on exoplanets throughout the universe is likely common, but the chances are that it dies out young, new research has revealed.

    alien universe

    GETTY

Aliens do exist, but don't last long

A new report suggests that the emergence of life on the “billions” of habitable planets in the universe is bound to be fairly common.

However, due to the violence and instability of early planetary formation, it is extremely difficult to sustain and will go extinct in its infancy.

The report, published in Astrobiology, states that life on Earth was extremely fortunate that the planet remained habitable and points to our neighbours Venus and Mars for the “default” life cycle that they go through.

Mars and Venus once shared a similar climate to Earth, but the former underwent extreme cooling while the latter experienced extreme heating, which made it impossible to sustain life.

    2

    GETTY

Mars was once as habitable as Earth

It says that life needs to emerge and evolve quickly, as life breeds life, if the planet is to remain habitable.

The paper reads: “If life emerges on a planet, it only rarely evolves quickly enough to regulate greenhouse gases and albedo, thereby maintaining surface temperatures compatible with liquid water and habitability.”

It continues: “Due to large impacts and unstable abiotic volatile evolution with no tendency to maintain habitability, almost all life goes extinct early—with the rare exceptions of life that has undergone unusually rapid evolution.”

    3

    GETTY

    Alien life is likely common

In a separate comment piece published on The Conversation, the researchers, Aditya Chopra And Charley Lineweaver, Australian National University, write that life in the universe has likely been and gone.

They said: "Our suggestion that the universe is filled with dead aliens might disappoint some, but the universe is under no obligation to prevent disappointment.

“We should not expect technological or spacefaring civilisations because there is no evidence that biological evolution converges to human-like intelligence.

“And subjective philosophical notions of life in the universe should not inform our estimates of the probability of life beyond Earth.”

'Best piece of UFO evidence in years' filmed by NASA as Tim Peake docked with ISS

THIS footage of the International Space Station apparently surrounded by Unidentifed Flying Objects (UFOs) this week as been branded "the best piece of evidence in years" for the existence of aliens.

Were aliens buzzing the ISS as British astronaut Tim Peake docked?

The footage has caused a storm after being uploaded on a video by YouTube channel Mister Enigma entitled "UFOs seeen everywhere during Soyuz docking on NASA USTREAM."

It shows a portion of the docking between the Russian Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft and International Space Station (ISS) on December 15, when Tim Peake became the first British astronaut to board the space station.

In the video, the narrator, who speaks with a creepy robotic voice, says: "This video, which was taken by the ISS on Tuesday during the docking between the Souyez spacecraft and the ISS is the best piece of UFO evidence captured in years.

"Dozens of UFOs can be seen in the background - some zipping off in the distance, others gently floating by, and even one gigantic doughnut-shaped UFO that seems to inspect the event.

"Once the camera zooms out the sun seems to light them up."

    Mister Enigma video narrator

The new footage has been likened to the "Tether UFO incident" of 1996, when a satellite which was tethered to a space shuttle broke off.

When it was later filmed by the astronauts on board, it appeared to be swarmed by hundreds of "UFOs" that appeared like organisms swimming in a sea.

The narrator continued: "How crazy is this?

"The footage is like the infamous UFO tether video that took place in the 90s, and it's very strange that it aired live and did not get cut off like most ufo’s that are seen on the NASA screen."

During the tether incident footage the objects are brushed off by the astronauts as being "some of the debris that follows us being caught by sunlight.

Others have said these weird anomalies in NASA space videos are ice particles or just lens flares.

New Plasma Engine Could Potentially Travel to Mars in 39 Days

    BY

    They are SERIOUSLY discussing this..

In 39 days this type of engine could get us to Mars. That sounds pretty cool and expensive but some think it is definitely worth it besides satisfying intellectual curiosity. But of course the first challenge is thrust. Current rocket engines that burn solid fuels are super powerful but likely could not get us to the red planet or other parts of the solar system with people in a reasonable time frame. However, this technique which is barely at the prototype phase has yielded some promising results.

    Is this insane or what?

Let’s find out more about how this could work in the video on page

Here is a bit more information on how this thruster works.  The basic technology has been known for a few decades but they made some improvements:

Known as a Hall thruster, these engines have been operating in space since 1971, and are now routinely flown on communication satellites and space probes to adjust their orbits when needed. These things are awesome, and scientists want to use them to get humans to Mars, except there’s one – rather large – problem: the current lifespan of a Hall thruster is around 10,000 operation hours, and that’s way too short for most space exploration missions, which require upwards of 50,000 hours.

What do you think?  Is this a reasonable way to get people to Mars?  And if we did that, what would the purpose be and what would be the best things to do first?  Feel free to comment with your ideas.

And they are actually discussing future fundings in congress right now for some of these types on engines which should pique the interest of space fans too.

The Extraterrestrial Message – Hidden In Us ALL

    Art by Raphael Terra @http://ufoartist.blogspot.co.uk/

    Art by Raphael Terra @http://ufoartist.blogspot.co.uk/

A recent study has revealed how the human DNA was encoded using an extraterrestrial signal which was used by ancient aliens who once visited Earth in the distant past – and who are perhaps back again!

Two top researchers from the from the Department of Mathematics, respectively Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute, Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan, have been working on something called “The Wow! Signal” of the terrestrial genetic code”.  This could quite possibly be one of the greatest ever discoveries ever!

The two leading authors of this extremely important study, Vladimir I. shCherbak and Maxim A. Makukov, trust in the existence of something called the “Biological SETI” –  which is a mathematical code residing inside the human races DNA structure – it is something that can definitely NOT be explained via the course of evolution, as traditional theories claim.  This appears to be a potential game changer for all we know about our past and origins on planet Earth.

The missing link to our past ~ ET creation?

The missing link to our past ~ ET creation?

This important study could actually prove that science is now a massive step closer to proving the Ancient Astronaut theory, as well as the hypothesis of our species being engineered by advanced aliens through DNA manipulation. The two leading researchers stated in the Icarus Journal:

Once fixed, the code might stay unchanged over cosmological timescales. In fact, it is the most durable construct known. Therefore it represents an exceptionally reliable storage for an intelligent signature. Once the genome is appropriately rewritten, the new code with a signature will stay frozen in the cell and its progeny, which might then be delivered through space and time”.

“In other words, the human DNA is designed with such a precision that it reveals an “ensemble of arithmetical and ideographical patterns of symbolic language”.

    Alien Praise

Perhaps the ET’s are our Creators?

As a result of this intriguing study, many more researchers from around the world are now discussing about the probability of us humans being engineered somewhere ‘outside’ of our solar system by our alien creators several billion years ago – a hypothesis which has for a long time been strongly supported by the many ancient texts found on here on Planet Earth, that speak of the creation of mankind and the creator gods or deities.  Perhaps it is the Aliens  who are our Gods?

Another part of the study goes on to explain that life on Earth could have emerged as a direct result of ‘microbiological particles’ being carried throughout the darkness and mass of the cosmos on the back of asteroids and comets, which in affect act like huge transportation devices that go around planting life on different planets capable of sustaining it.  This thought provoking theory differs a lot from the classic evolution theory, as many supporters believe that we were definitely not a random product of evolution, but quite possibly a certain creation of our makers, prepared and designed and then sent to Earth on purpose!

This theory was actually covered in the Hollywood Blockbuster film called ‘Prometheus’, please see below the opening scene of this ‘drip feeding’ of Disclosure film ~ Just like the evidence that has recently been discovered:

The two researchers Cherbak and Makukov went on to present a very detailed analysis (please see link below) of the human genome that shows a previously ignored precision-type method in the mapping between the DNA’s nucleotides and amino acids. The pair said that:

Simple arrangements of the code reveal an ensemble of arithmetical and ideographical patterns of symbolic language. Accurate and systematic, these underlying patterns appear as a product of precision logic and nontrivial computing”.

    U.I.P SUMMARY

I guess this important find asks many important questions! Like, is it possible that we were possibly designed by advanced alien species who had a rather extended knowledge of creating life through DNA manipulation? And if this is true, does this mean that we are all Aliens on planet earth!? Is the human race possibly a product originating from another planet out there in the infinite Universe? Or could it be that we are a product which has been designed on Earth by an advanced race who anchored on this planet in the ancient past, as many age-old texts have even suggested??

Whilst it is impossible to deny the ‘panspermia hypothesis’ which  claims that life on the earth could have originated from microorganisms or chemical precursors of life present somewhere out there in outer space, that were able to initiate life upon reaching a suitable environment, us guys at U.I.P find it FAR more likely that life on Earth is actually a product of a far more intelligent species who have the unique ability to create life on other planets.

No matter what, the up-coming years will reveal to us all far more information regarding of research, which that were until now either forbidden/ignored or just covered up by the Elite.

Perhaps this is why many of us feel that we are from ‘another place’.

NASA ‘whistleblower’ donates lunar photos, research materials to Roswell’s UFO Museum

     Local News

Former NASA astronaut trainer R. Ken Johnston Sr. of Belen, right, has said that NASA officials have doctored photographs and films that show evidence of extraterrestrial activity on the moon. On Friday he gave his books, which include NASA photos, to the International UFO Museum and Research Center. Executive Director Jim Hill, left, presented him with a certificate commemorating his donation (Lisa Dunlap Photo).

A former National Aeronautics and Space Administration consultant pilot who says he witnessed NASA employees doctoring photos and films from Apollo missions has donated his archives to the International UFO Museum and Research Center.

Ralph Kennedy (Ken) Johnston Sr. of Belen provided digital copies of his three books, which contain NASA photos and images, to the UFO Museum’s library Friday morning. He also provided copies of interviews he has done. He said that he has not donated the material to other institutions at this time, although some copies of some photos are available online and have been shared with researchers.

Executive Director Jim Hill presented Johnston with a certificate recognizing his donation and support of the museum and research center, which has one of the world’s largest collections of materials related to extraterrestrials and UFOs. The museum attracts about 180,000 visitors a year and is a Smithsonian Institution depository site for UFO-related reference materials.

Johnston, the author of three books in the “Ken’s Moon” series and former trainer of astronauts on the use of the Lunar Module, has said that while he was working at the Lunar Receiving Lab of the NASA Johnson Center in 1971 he saw NASA staff painting details out of lunar photos from Apollo missions and was aware of other anomalies between original photos and films he observed firsthand and what was cataloged by NASA or made available to the public. He was ordered to destroy five full sets of photos from lunar missions, he said, even though he argued that they should be donated to universities or research institutions. He gave one set to a university, but said most of the photos disappeared. Holding a doctorate degree in metaphysics and former pilot, he frequently gives presentations and interviews about what he thinks is evidence of extraterrestrial activity on the moon that has been denied by NASA and other government officials. Some images can be seen on his website: kenjohnstonmedia.com.

    Reference:
    What Are Cosmic Rays?
    What Are Cosmic Rays?
Showers of high energy particles occur when energetic cosmic rays strike the top of the Earth's atmosphere. Most cosmic rays are atomic nuclei: most are hydrogen nuclei, some are helium nuclei, and the rest heavier elements. Although many of the low energy cosmic rays come from our Sun, the origins of the highest energy cosmic rays remains unknown and a topic of much research. This drawing illustrates air showers from very high energy cosmic rays.
Credit: Simon Swordy (U. Chicago), NASA

Cosmic rays are atom fragments that rain down on the Earth from outside of the solar system. They blaze at the speed of light and have been blamed for electronics problems in satellites and other machinery.

First discovered in 1912, many things about cosmic rays remain a mystery more than a century later. One prime example is exactly where they are coming from. Most scientists suspect their origins are related to supernovas (star explosions), but the challenge is that cosmic ray origins appear uniform when you look across the entire sky.

While cosmic rays were only discovered in the 1900s, scientists knew something mysterious was going on as early as the 1780s. That's when French physicist Charles-Augustin de Coulomb — best known for having a unit of electrical charge named after him — observed an electrically charged sphere suddenly and mysteriously not being charged any more.

At the time, air was thought to be an insulator and not an electric conductor. With more work, however, scientists discovered that air can conduct electricity if its molecules are charged or ionized. This would most commonly happen when the molecules interact with charged particles or X-rays.

But where these charged particles came from was a mystery; even attempts to block the charge with large amounts of lead were coming up empty. On Aug. 7, 1912, physicist Victor Hess flew a high-altitude balloon to 17,400 feet (5,300 meters). He discovered three times more ionizing radiation there than on the ground, which meant the radiation had to be coming from outer space.

But tracing cosmic ray "origin stories" took more than a century. In 2013, NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope released results from observing two supernova remnants in the Milky Way: IC 433 and W44

Among the products of these star explosions are gamma-ray photons, which (unlike cosmic rays) are not affected by magnetic fields. The gamma rays studied had the same energy signature as subatomic particles called neutral pions. Pions are produced when protons get stuck in a magnetic field inside the shockwave of the supernova and crash into each other.

In other words, the matching energy signatures showed that protons could move at fast enough speeds within supernovas to create cosmic rays.

We know today that galactic cosmic rays are atom fragments such as protons (positively charged particles), electrons (negatively charged particles) and atomic nuclei. While we know now they can be created in supernovas, there may be other sources available for cosmic ray creation. It also isn't clear exactly how supernovas are able to make these cosmic rays so fast.

Cosmic rays constantly rain down on Earth, and while the high-energy "primary" rays collide with atoms in the Earth's upper atmosphere and rarely make it through to the ground, "secondary" particles are ejected from this collision and do reach us on the ground.

But by the time these cosmic rays get to Earth, it's impossible to trace where they came from. That's because their path has been changed as they travelled through multiple magnetic fields (the galaxy's, the solar system's and Earth's itself.)

According to NASA, cosmic rays therefore come equally from all directions of the sky. So scientists are trying to trace back cosmic ray origins by looking at what the cosmic rays are made of. Scientists can figure this out by looking at the spectroscopic "signature" each nucleus gives off in radiation, and also by weighing the different isotopes (types) of elements that hit cosmic ray detectors.

The result, NASA adds, shows very common elements in the universe. Roughly 90 percent of cosmic ray nuclei are hydrogen (protons) and 9 percent are helium (alpha particles). Hydrogen and helium are the most abundant elements in the universe and the origin point for stars, galaxies and other large structures. The remaining 1 percent are all elements, and it's from that 1 percent that scientists can best search for rare elements to make comparisons between different types of cosmic rays.

Scientists can also date the cosmic rays by looking at radioactive nuclei that decrease over time. Measuring the "half life" of each nuclei gives an estimate of how long the cosmic ray has been out there in space.

Earth's magnetic field and atmosphere shields the planet from 99.9 percent of the radiation from space. However, for people outside the protection of Earth's magnetic field, space radiation becomes a serious hazard. An instrument aboard the Curiosity Mars rover during its 253-day cruise to Mars revealed that the radiation dose received by an astronaut on even the shortest Earth-Mars round trip would be about 0.66 sievert. This amount is like receiving a whole-body CT scan every five or six days.

A dose of 1 sievert is associated with a 5.5 percent increase in the risk of fatal cancers. The normal daily radiation dose received by the average person living on Earth is 10 microsieverts (0.00001 sievert).

The moon has no atmosphere and a very weak magnetic field. Astronauts living there would have to provide their own protection, for example by burying their habitat underground.

The planet Mars has no global magnetic field. Particles from the sun have stripped away most of Mars’ atmosphere, resulting in very poor protection against radiation at the surface. The highest air pressure on Mars is equal to that at an altitude of 22 miles (35 kilometers) above the Earth’s surface. At low altitudes, Mars’ atmosphere provides slightly better protection from space radiation.

Harvard Scientists Announce Plans To Create Synthetic Human Genomes

     Getty
    IN BRIEF

As a kind of follow-up to the Human Genome Project, Harvard scientists are proposing to create a synthetic human genome from scratch, with the aim of developing resistance to cancer and disease.

Humanity’s pursuit of perfection seems to be well underway. This past weekend, a group of scientists led by DNA pioneer George Church, who is a Harvard biologist, announced that they’re working on synthesizing human genes from scratch.

With the goal of addressing a number of human health challenges, scientists said that the project, dubbed the HGP-Write project, will explore growing replacement organs, engineering cancer resistance, and building new vaccinations using human cells.

In short, they could forever alter how humans respond to diseases…and even what it means to be human.

    Related: What is CRISPR

However, such dramatic shifts are a long ways off. Before any of that can happen, researchers will need to start defining what a “perfect” human would look like—and that means literally making a blueprint for what such a genetic sequence would look like. Church published a paper in 2014 about “de novo synthesis,” or the creation of perfect genes from scratch, so he is no newcomer to the field.

The project is pretty similar to the current gene editing CRISPR technique, which could very well prove to be life-saving for people with a variety of terminal illnesses. The main difference is that this new endeavor will also take into account the ethics and economics of how far humans should go with gene editing in order to develop their blueprint.

New “Iron Man” Special Forces Exoskeleton Stops Bullets With Liquid Armor

     CNN
    IN BRIEF

We may have a new combat exoskeleton prototype in 2018. It will have body armor that makes use of a liquid that solidifies in milliseconds, and a tiny, powerful engine for recharging the suit's systems.

We’ve all seen what Iron Man can do in the movies, and it’s rather impressive—what with all the flying and absorbing bullets.

Ultimately, all of his abilities come from the incredible technology behind his suit. And it’s to this inspiration that Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is turning for their future combat exoskeleton prototypes, which are to be ready in 2018.

    LIQUID ARMOR

In 2013, SOCOM expanded their development of such a suit, which they call the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS). Navy SEALs or Special Forces would use these suits for special operations.

However, unlike the metallic, clunky suit of Iron Man, these military operators need to move with great mobility; therefore, the suits will be made with a “liquid body armor” that transforms into solid within milliseconds when a magnetic field or an electric current is applied through the material.

The technology is being developed by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A Polish company, Moratex, is working on a similar kind of liquid body armor, using a non-Newtonian liquid called Shear-Thickening Fluid (STF).

Essentially, what’s being designed is a suit of armor that remains soft and malleable during normal operations, but hardens instantaneously at the point of contact—deflecting and dispersing the immense destructive energy produced by a hit from an enemy round or shrapnel.

    POWERED BY A SMALL ENGINE

TALOS is reportedly going to be a physiological subsystem that will use various sensors on the skin to monitor the wearer’s vital signs in great detail. More than that, it will provide vastly increased strength.

And all of this added capability needs a great deal of power.

General Atomics intends to provide the TALOS suits with a tiny combustion engine, that can nevertheless run at 10,000 RPM. This technology will rely on Liquid Piston’s ‘X’ engine, which employs the High Efficiency Hybrid Cycle. According to the company, this engine has a theoretical efficiency of 75%, and can be very quiet since it only consists of two moving parts: a shaft and a rotor.

The purpose of the engine in the exoskeletal suit would be to recharge batteries, which in turn supply energy to all of the power-thirsty components which will be integrated with the TALOS suit—including computer and sensor systems, as well as robotic strength augmentation.

It’s a fascinating glimpse into the future of warfighting technology—and it brings a whole new meaning to the Army’s old recruiting slogan “Be All You Can Be.”

The universe is expanding 5 to 9 percent faster than astronomers had thought, a new study suggests.

"This surprising finding may be an important clue to understanding those mysterious parts of the universe that make up 95 percent of everything and don't emit light, such as dark energy, dark matter and dark radiation," study leader Adam Riess, an astrophysicist at the Space Telescope Science Institute and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, said in a statement.

Riess — who shared the 2011 Nobel Prize in physics for the discovery that the universe's expansion is accelerating — and his colleagues used NASA's Hubble Space Telescope to study 2,400 Cepheid stars and 300 Type Ia supernovas. [Supernova Photos: Great Images of Star Explosions]

This Hubble Space Telescope image shows Cepheid variable stars (circled in red) and a Type Ia supernova (blue "X") in the galaxy UGC 9391. Astronomers studied these and other "cosmic yardsticks" to calculate how fast the universe is expanding.
Credit: NASA, ESA, and A. Riess (STScI/JHU)

These are two different types of "cosmic yardsticks" that allow scientists to measure distances across the universe. Cepheids pulse at rates that are related to their true brightness, and Type Ia supernovas — powerful explosions that mark the deaths of massive stars — blaze up with consistent luminosity.

This work allowed the team to determine the distances to the 300 supernovas, which lie in a number of different galaxies. Then, the researchers compared these figures to the expansion of space, which was calculated by measuring how light from faraway galaxies stretches as it moves away from Earth, to determine how fast the universe is expanding — a value known as the Hubble constant, after famed American astronomer Edwin Hubble.

The new, unprecedentedly precise value for the Hubble constant comes out to 45.5 miles (73.2 kilometers) per second per megaparsec. (One megaparsec is equivalent to 3.26 million light-years.) Therefore, the distance between cosmic objects should double 9.8 billion years from now, the researchers said.

The new figure is 5 to 9 percent higher than previous estimates of the Hubble constant, which relied on measurements of the cosmic microwave background radiation — the light left over from the Big Bang that created the universe 13.8 billion years ago.

There are a number of possible explanations for this discrepancy, study team members said.

Illustration showing the three steps astronomers used to measure the universe's expansion rate to an unprecedented accuracy, reducing the total uncertainty to 2.4 percent.

Credit: NASA, ESA, A. Feild (STScI), and A. Riess (STScI/JHU)

For example, the mysterious force known as dark energy, which is thought to be behind the universe's accelerating expansion, may be stronger than astronomers had thought. It's also possible that "dark radiation" — an unknown, superspeedy subatomic particle or particles that existed shortly after the Big Bang — could be playing a role that hasn't been taken into account, the researchers said.

Enigmatic dark matter, which is thought to be four times more abundant than "normal" matter throughout the universe, could also have some weird and unappreciated characteristics. Or maybe there's something important missing from Einstein's theory of gravity, the researchers said.

In short, there's a lot of work left to do before astronomers can fully appreciate the meaning of the new results.

"We know so little about the dark parts of the universe; it's important to measure how they push and pull on space over cosmic history," study co-author Lucas Macri, of Texas A&M University, said in the same statement.

The new study has been accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal.

Scientist says he found definitive proof that God exists.

One of the most respected scientists of today says he has found evidence of the action of a force "that governs everything."

The theoretical physicist Michio Kaku claims to have developed a theory that might point to the existence of God. The information has created a great stir in the scientific community because Kaku is considered one of the most important scientists of our times, one of the creators and developers of the revolutionary String Theory which is highly respected throughout the world.

To to come to his conclusions, the physicist made use of what he calls “primitive semi – radius tachyons “.

Tachyons are theoretical particles capable to “unstick ” the Universe matter or vacuum space between matter particles, leaving everything free from the influences of the surrounding universe.

After conducting the tests, Kaku came to the conclusion that we live in a “Matrix”.

“I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence”, he affirmed. “Believe me, everything that we call chance today won’t make sense anymore.”

“To me it is clear that we exists in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance.”

SHOCK CLAIMS: Humans could be ALIENS from another galaxy brought to Earth by a comet

THE DNA that created the building blocks for life and created humans could have originally been bought from space on a comet that collided with a primitive Earth.

DNA for life could have been brought to Earth on a comet.

    GETTY

DNA for life could have been brought to Earth on a comet.

Researchers made the staggering claim after "proving" that ribose, the basic sugar from which much of our DNA is composed, is able to form on a comet.

Scientists from the Institut d’Astrophysique Spatiale, and the Institut de Chimie de Nice, claim to have discovered that the nucleic acids that make up our DNA, are formed primarily from ribose, and therefore may not be originally from Earth.

At the formation of our solar system, the young Sun was surrounded by a circumstellar disc of gas and dust.

Planets then formed by aggregation of these small, frozen bodies that met violently and merged, bringing many chemical compounds.

Researchers simulated these conditions to create a synthetic comet.

They said as the synthetic comet "warmed", as though it were nearing the Sun, ribose and a similarly structured family of sugars were detected.

A spokesman for the research said: "It was previously thought that ribose was the original sugar and precursor to DNA, yet the research exposed at least three others that may have been around at the same time or before.

    even elsewhere in the Universe.

This was the first occurrence of a prebiotic synthesis of ribose from the basic elements found in comets, without human interaction.

    Study spokesperson

"This was the first occurrence of a prebiotic synthesis of ribose from the basic elements found in comets, without human interaction."

Additionally, the experiment produced a formose reaction, or the formation of sugars from formaldehyde, which was previously deemed impossible by chemists due to its complexity.

Although it was known that formaldehyde can exist on comets, it was not predicted that solvated electrons, found in the ice, could act as the necessary catalyst in the creation of ribose.

Although the existence of ribose in real comets is yet to be confirmed, scientists say the new discovery completes the list of molecular building blocks of life that can be formed in interstellar ice on a comet.

It is claimed it adds further support to a theory that comets are the source of the organic molecules that made life possible on Earth, and

World's Largest Radio Telescope Faces Troubling Future

The National Science Foundation is considering pulling its support from the famous Arecibo radio dish in Puerto Rico

One of the world’s most iconic astronomy sites, Puerto Rico’s giant Arecibo Observatory, may be facing the end of its era. The National Science Foundation (NSF), the primary funder of Arecibo—which is the largest existing radio telescope and was featured in the movies Contactand GoldenEye, among others—is holding public meetings on June 7 to “evaluate potential environmental effects of proposed changes to operations at Arecibo Observatory,” according to an NSF announcement. Because those proposed changes include the option of shutting down the 305-meter dish telescope altogether, officials will likely get an earful about more than air quality and groundwater. Defenders of the observatory will have a chance to speak their minds at two meetings—at the San Juan DoubleTree Inn and the Puerto Rico Professional College of Engineers and Land Surveyors—and can submit comments in writing through June 23.

Since its completion in 1963 the storied telescope found fame for discoveries such as the first-ever planets outside the solar system in 1992 and the first indirect evidence of gravitational waves in 1974, a finding that earned its makers a Nobel Prize, among other landmark accomplishments. But the beloved observatory now stands on a precarious threshold. The NSF has to balance the operations of new and expensive facilities such as the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array in Chile against older ones like Arecibo while weighing federal scientific priorities and setting aside enough money for grants to individual scientists. With the NSF’s budget essentially flat since 2010, the agency cannot afford to run all its telescopes indefinitely, continue building new ones and still pay the country’s scientists. But researchers who use Arecibo argue that it has a useful life of novel discoveries ahead of it, even if is not as shiny as the newcomers, especially in some areas where it makes a unique contribution.

The observatory’s latest announcement follows recommendations made by two committees associated with the NSF, in 2012 and earlier 2016, reevaluating the agency’s role in running the telescope and “significantly decreasing funding.” This year the NSF also did a “feasibility study” to map out various futures for Arecibo and asked potential partners to propose ways they could take over some telescope operations. The NSF currently funds Arecibo at $8.2 million a year, two thirds of the telescope’s total cost, with NASA kicking in the last third to bankroll the observatory’s study of near-Earth asteroids. But two NSF divisions—Astronomical Sciences and Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences—which split their cost equally, are reconsidering their roles.

The “environmental impact statement,” for which the upcoming meetings seek public comment, will attempt to define the earthly effects of five different hypothetical scenarios, each involving a different financial commitment from the NSF. In one, everything would stay much the same. But the agency could also team up with “interested parties” who could help fund the telescope or other interested parties who want to run it as an educational facility.

More pessimistically, the NSF could mothball the site, shutting it down in such a way that it could restart (sometime in the future). Or it could dismantle the telescope altogether and restore the area to its natural state, as required by law if the agency fully divests itself of the observatory and closes it. Previous studies have said such a process could cost around $100 million—more than a decade’s worth of its current funding for telescope operations. Jim Ulvestad, director of the NSF Division of Astronomical Sciences, says the agency is still investigating, not concluding. “No alternative has been selected at this juncture,” he says. And much consideration will go into the final financial decision, whatever it may be. Some outside the agency see writing on the wall. “NSF is dead serious about offloading Arecibo funding to someone else—anyone else,” says Ellen Howell, a former staff scientist at Arecibo and now a faculty member at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (LPL) in Tucson, Arizona.

This is hardly the first time Arecibo’s future has felt precarious. A quick Google search will net you various “Save Arecibo!” campaigns from the 2007 era—for instance, after an NSF-commissioned report recommended decreasing the agency’s funding for the telescope from 2007’s $10.5 million to $4 million in 2011. Its current $8.2 million-a-year allowance is a compromise. And the observatory has company in its current crisis. The Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia, the Very Long Baseline Array spread across the country, and several older telescopes on Kitt Peak in Arizona are wading through similar budgetary muck, trying to work out new private partnerships (with NSF assistance) after the agency decided to cut their cords. And according to documents and e-mails obtained byThe Sydney Morning Herald, the Parkes radio telescope in Australia is facing similar funding shortfalls. A “likely recommendation,” according toThe Herald, will be that Parkes and another Australian facility “raise external funds by charging for access to the telescope facilities.” Green Bank, Arecibo and Parkes are three of the world’s most powerful radio telescopes—historically open to scientists who successfully submit proposals to use them—and government-based financial problems may lead them all into eventual closure or into the arms of private interests, where whoever pays gets to choose what type of science is done.

Arecibo currently is used for radio astronomy, space and atmospheric science as well as radar studies of comets, asteroids and planets. These areas are brimming with potential for the observatory to make many exciting discoveries in the future, advocates say. Xavier Siemens, an astronomer at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, is especially excited about the possibility for using Arecibo to detect gravitational waves—ripples in spacetime—coming from supermassive black holes. Because it is the largest and most sensitive single-dish radio telescope in the world, Arecibo is one of the best instruments available for detecting pulsars, the fast-spinning remnants of dead, once-huge stars. Scientists like Siemens currently use Arecibo and the also-threatened Green Bank Telescope to find and monitor a network of pulsars they hope will help detect gravitational waves.

Without Arecibo, he says, that search would be crippled. Although the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO), which announced the first detection of gravitational waves in February to much fanfare, will continue running, it catches different waves than pulsar studies such as Arecibo’s do. “What’s really amazing to me is that in the wake of the discovery of gravitational waves, NSF is going to shut down the world’s most sensitive radio telescope and hinder the detection—the opening of the only other gravitational-wave window that we can open in the next few years,” he says. “It’s surreal.”

It may be surreal but Howell believes it is also realistic. “I am afraid that NSF has already made up its collective mind to reduce their support to much less than the current $8 million per year or so to perhaps nothing,” Howell says. “I think this is an embarrassment after so many years of scientific achievements when so little could continue the productivity.”

Michael Nolan, now at the LPL, worked at Arecibo for 20 years and was director from 2008 to 2011. He claims the observatory used to have better friends in high places, specifically in the NSF’s Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences division. “The two main advocates are now retired, and it seems like that voice is, too,” he says. “The Astronomy division has seemed like managers rather than advocates for a long time, though, of course, I'm not privy to their internal discussions.”

And whereas the NSF’s deliberations have not yet resulted in a decision to back away from the observatory completely or at all, the delay of what may be inevitable is not doing the telescope any favors, Nolan argues. Arecibo’s leaders cannot ask new potential donors to make up for a specific shortfall because they do not know if or by how much the NSF might curb its aid. Recalling his tenure at Arecibo, and the regular jeopardy it was in even back then, Nolan wishes the facility did not have to be so often rescued from the brink: “You know that line in The Incredibles?” he asks. “‘Sometimes I just want it to stay saved, you know? For a little bit.’”

In addition to its scientific import, Arecibo also plays a concrete, down-to-earth role in the community. An economy exists around the rural facility, which provides jobs to local residents and infuses the area with cash-dispensing visitors—both touristic and scientific. The environmental statement will also evaluate those human impacts. If the NSF does decide to tighten the purse strings and no other organization steps up to fill the gap, the consequences will ripple across science and society, space and time. “If Arecibo has to close because NSF has other priorities, it will not be possible to bring it back anytime soon, when or if we come to our senses,” the LPL’s Howell says. She and many scientists would agree that an empty Arecibo site would be—as Jodie Foster says in Contact—an “awful waste of space.”

The Surprising Importance of Stratospheric Life

The science of bacteria in the atmosphere is getting its moment in the sun.

Rippling like a jellyfish, a helium balloon big enough to envelop the Empire State Building lofted over the New Mexico desert. Its passengers, suspended below in a boxy white gondola, were hardy specimens: millions of cells of a remarkably resilient bacterium known as Bacillus pumilus SAFR-032. NASA scientists had first collected the strain more than a decade ago in the Mars Odyssey assembly facility, where the bacteria had survived sterilization. Before sending the pill-shaped cells into the sky last October, researchers starved them until they morphed into endospores, an armored dormant state.

Higher and higher the wee wayfarers rose: to 17,000 feet, the maximum altitude at which trees grow; to 24,000 feet, the upper limit of the highest-flying migratory bird, the bar-headed goose; to 60,000 feet, where atmospheric pressure is so low that water in bodily tissues would boil away. At last, at 100,000 feet, the balloon reached its destination. Here in the stratosphere, above the troposphere and most of Earth’s protective ozone layer, conditions are extreme: cold as an Antarctic winter, drier than the driest desert, and flooded in ultraviolet rays. “Mostly, it’s eventual death,” says Cindy Morris, a microbial ecologist at the French National Institute for Agriculture Research.

Yet scientists are finding that a rich variety of life—archaea, bacteria, and single-celled eukaryotes—can thrive at high altitudes. In the troposphere, where day-to-day weather happens, each cubic meter of cloud contains on average tens of thousands of microbial cells. Even above the clouds in near space—as high as 250,000 feet, according to a 1978 Soviet study—rocket and balloon missions have collected hearty voyagers. “We’re not just finding corpses that are blown up there and preserved,” says Brent Christner, a microbiologist at the University of Florida. “Some fraction of these organisms is still alive.”

Lacking wings or pressure suits, these Lilliputian aeronauts have devised ways to protect themselves from irradiation, desiccation, and severe cellular stress, and find food in the bleakest of food deserts. Their unique set of survival skills has allowed them to soar the skies, dispersing to some of the harshest environments on Earth. And perhaps beyond: If B. pumilus cells can live through a balloon ride to the stratosphere, what’s stopping them from hitching a lift to Mars? “If organisms are blowing around in the stratosphere, and we took them and we put them on the Mars surface,” Christner says, “they wouldn’t even know the difference.”

Of course, microbes don’t need balloons to fly. Some fungal spores catapult from cannon-like structures in their parent. Wind or sea spray can similarly launch cells into the air. But most simply levitate, Mary Poppins style, in a passing updraft. “There’s always upward movement of air because the Earth is always heating the atmosphere,” Morris says. “It’s impossible for a particle that small to not get incorporated in these currents.”

Once airborne, the tiny drifters ride a complex and ever-shifting network of “highways in the sky,” says David Schmale, an aerobiologist at Virginia Tech. With engineer Shane Ross, he is developing ways to predict these turbulent routes. By pairing fluid dynamics modeling with data from air-sampling drones, the team has identified atmospheric features as large as countries, called Lagrangian coherent structures (LCSs), that behave “like waves moving through the atmosphere,” Schmale says. As an LCS moves over the landscape, it morphs much like an ocean swell, shuffling microbes along various air masses, like plankton along eddies.

What would happen if hardy microbes stowed away in a dark crevice on a lander?

Depending on their size and aerodynamics, microbes can stay aloft in the atmosphere for days to weeks—long enough to jump a continent, or an ocean, in one go. Analyses of meteorological data, for instance, suggest that transatlantic winds carried fungal spores from West Africa to the Americas, spreading sugarcane and coffee leaf rusts to New World plantations in the 1970s. Bacteria kicked up by dust storms in Africa’s drought-plagued Sahel appear to be making a similar leap to the Caribbean, where they are killing coral reefs. And in China, at the start of every growing season, spores causing wheat yellow rust migrate hundreds to thousands of miles from plants in the western provinces of Sichuan and Gansu to recolonize the country’s main wheat belt farther north.

Most of this globetrotting happens in the troposphere because the air there rarely mixes with air in the stratosphere above. But there are ways to catch a lift to loftier locales, including transport via thunderstorms, volcanic eruptions, and deep tropical convection. Microbes that make it to the stratosphere get swept along in its steady horizontal currents, allowing them to sail swiftly over vast distances, Christner says. “It’s a ticket to anywhere on the planet.”

    Wald_BR-2
BACTERIA TRAP: The gondola of the NASA research balloon seen in the photo above. If bacteria can live in this extreme environment, they may be able to survive similar conditions on Mars.NASA / David J. Smith

No known organism can survive high altitudes indefinitely. Scientists estimate that even the fittest microbes probably last no longer than a week in the stratosphere, and around a couple of weeks in the troposphere. Eventually they “get fried by radiation,” says David J. Smith, a NASA microbiologist who led the October balloon mission testing the stamina of B. pumilus cells. As a result, some high-flying species may have evolved a method to get down fast: hijacking the weather.

Microbial matter typically falls from the sky in rain or snow. To precipitate, clouds must grow ice crystals big enough to outweigh air, but pure water vapor won’t normally freeze above -36 degrees Fahrenheit—unless it gets help from an “ice nucleator.” Most often, airborne particles such as salts or mineral dust provide this service. By supplying a seed around which water molecules can arrange themselves, a nucleator enables ice to form at temperatures up to 5 degrees. Some microorganisms produce proteins that catalyze the process in even warmer conditions, up to 28 degrees in a laboratory. Scientists have yet to prove this happens in real clouds. But if it does, it’s a handy trick: Not only have these microbes found a way to encase themselves in an icy escape capsule, but they may be able to make it drop from the sky when it otherwise wouldn’t.

According to one model, possessing these icemaking powers could help shorten a microbe’s time in the sky to about a twentieth of what it would be if it couldn’t nucleate ice at all. “The ones that are not ice-nucleation active have a little more trouble getting out,” Morris says. From a microbe’s perspective, she explains, the atmosphere is like a subway system. “There are people there all the time, but the metro is not a place to live—it’s a place to move.”

If Earth’s atmosphere is a microbial metro, it’s an especially brutal one, and commuters have evolved various means to survive the trip. Some, like the B. pumilus cells in the NASA balloon, form endospores. “Sporulation is like hibernation for bacteria,” Smith says. “They shrivel down, dehydrate all of their innards, and wrap their DNA. They remain in that state until water and nutrients arrive, and then they flip the switch and germinate, and go on living.”

Other longest-distance travelers sequester themselves in protective dust plumes. Researchers have collected deposits of African dust from all over the world, and “they’re just loaded with microbes,” Schmale says. Shade from dust can cut UV radiation by half. And as the plumes cross water bodies, they pick up particulates such as pieces of algae or phytoplankton, which “can provide wetting, moist environments for microbial populations to sustain viability as they trek across the ocean.”

Microbes can also make a temporary home in clouds. Atop the 5,000-foot peak of Puy de Dôme, in central France, microbial ecologist Pierre Amato sucks up cloud water with a droplet impactor—“a vacuum cleaner, basically,” he says. He then takes the samples back to his lab at the National Center for Scientific Research, in Aubière, where he extracts living bacteria and cultures them in flasks. Some specimens can subsist on formaldehyde and other organic compounds commonly found in cloud water, suggesting they can metabolize, and perhaps even reproduce, in clouds. “They eat some very strange things,” he says.

The most successful cloud-squatters, Amato has found, are bacteria that spend their terrestrial lives on plants—no surprise, he says, considering that these species are well-adapted to life on the surface of a leaf, where light, temperature, and humidity change rapidly, as they do in a cloud. Many of these organisms have also evolved protections against UV radiation: pigments that act as sunscreens, for instance, or the ability to rapidly repair their own DNA.

Where these widespread adaptations first arose is an open question. Did microbes hone their survival skills on the ground and then use them to take to the skies? Or vice versa? Smith, for one, argues that the arduous conditions of the upper atmosphere likely provided a selective pressure that drove terrestrial life to be as robust as it is. “Think about trillions upon trillions of tiny cells continuously passing through the Earth’s deadly upper atmosphere for billions of years,” he says. “In that framework, evolved resistance to environmental extremes seems almost inevitable.”

Take Antarctica’s ice sheets. Some of the most hostile places on Earth, they were once thought to be devoid of life. Yet in the past decade, scientists have discovered microbial species living on and in the ice, and in lakes buried below. “These microbes might not be growing actively—they might just be frozen in suspended animation—but as the climate changes and as these places melt, and as surface water starts to form, you may well see them metabolizing and reproducing,” says David Pearce, a microbiologist at Northumbria University in the United Kingdom who is part of an international collaboration to survey microbial diversity over Antarctica. Many ice dwellers, Pearce suspects, probably arrived on the winds: When he and his colleagues analyzed microbial DNA from air samples over a remote research station, they found that almost half of the airborne explorers not associated with human activity had likely originated from soils and other terrestrial sources on other continents. (Incredibly, some of these strains have also been found in spacecraft assembly rooms.)

“The upper atmosphere acts like a pre-selection filter,” Pearce says—it ensures that only the hardiest individuals disperse to colonize Earth’s remotest and most barren outposts.

    Wald_BR

The same might be said for other worlds. If the rigors of air travel can prepare microbes to thrive in Antarctica, why not the atmosphere of Venus, where relatively mild temperatures and pressures may be able to sustain Earthly life? Or the surface of Mars, where conditions aren’t so different from Earth’s upper atmosphere? If microbes like B. pumilus can survive the stratosphere, Smith says, they may be able to persevere long enough on the Martian surface to establish themselves in a more hospitable spot, such as underground, “where it might be warmer and wetter.” His team is still analyzing results from the balloon mission, but he says they seem “consistent” with what’s already known about these super-survivors, which have endured stratospheric simulation chambers and once lived for 18 months outside the International Space Station while shaded from UV light.

How Earth life might get to other planets is a matter of much debate. Airborne cells can’t reach escape velocities great enough to break free of Earth’s gravitational pull. Nor have scientists come up with a convincing explanation of how they would survive the long transport times and lethal radiation levels in deep space. But that hasn’t stopped astrobiologists from musing about panspermia, the hypothesis that life spreads throughout the universe via meteors and other cosmic vehicles—like, say, spacecraft.

For NASA, this is a very real, and troubling, possibility. The agency has identified hundreds of bacterial strains like B. pumilus that have outlived spacecraft sterilization procedures such as peroxide baths, heat shock, and UV radiation. What would happen if these or other hardy microbes stowed away in a dark crevice on a lander, or latched on as it passed through Earth’s atmosphere?

“These organisms are really very robust,” Morris says, “and they are going places.” All they need is a lift.

This is magnificent! Not because of the fact that aliens spoke to him and not because he was trying to impress the aliens, but because its just beautiful. Look at the design, the doorway, the care that went into the placement of every stone on the structure. Even if aliens didn't tell him to make it, is still many levels of awesome. This is an interesting article about aliens, a farmer, romance, and god.

    News states:
Raymundo Corona, a farmer from Mexico, has gone and built a 22-foot Aztec pyramid in the desert, 74 km from the Mexico-US border. When people asked him why he went through the trouble of building a pyramid in the desert, he said he was simply following the instructions of an alien who paid him a visit three decades ago. Speaking to a local newspaper, Corona described the alien as a tall man with honey-colored eyes and white hair, by the name of Herulayka. He apparently came from a planet called Nefilin, which Corona says is 20 times the size of Earth and is located in the constellation of Orion. The Mexican farmer added that Herulayka warned him that he would be taken for a drunk or a drug addict if he ever built the pyramid, but his conviction was so strong that he went ahead and did it anyway. He really believes that the alien paid him a visit in 1984, when he was 33 years old. His wife was pregnant at the time and about to give birth to their baby girl when he first saw the strange man in his dreams.

A few nights later, he heard a knock on his door and it turned out to be the same man. Corona was scared out of his wits and ran outside, but then regained his composure and got back home. He figured the strange figure might be a God, but the man, sensing his thoughts, said: “I’m not a God, I am a man like you, I have the same importance as you.”

“He told me to build the temple in the form of a pyramid,” Corona explained. “When I asked him why it had to be in the form of a pyramid, he said it was because it should be like my faith, something that winds and storms couldn’t move and was always pointing upwards.”

“He told me he came from the constellation of Orion, from a place called Nefilin which is a place 20 times larger than Earth where people are similar to human beings,” he added. “He was a tall man with honey colored eyes and white hair down to the ground. He was barefoot and wore a tunic tied with a rope.”

The man supposedly warned Corona that building the temple would not be easy, telling him: “Many people will laugh at you, defame and say it was an act of insanity or something he did during a bender, it was an act of a madman or a drug addict.” The alien also said that humans were destroying their own planet and needed to look after it like a child.

Building a temple in the form of a pyramid was not an easy task, especially not for Corona, who had only studied until the sixth grade. He had to make several mathematical calculations that were way beyond his understanding, and to this day, he has no idea how he managed to do it. He just believes that the knowledge was embedded in his genetic system, waiting for him to access it.
