California Object

 Huntington Beach — Coming out of the door at my job to make a phone call on December 22, 2017, I saw a jet trail in the sky, and it was glowing. It stretched, then plumed, then multiple explosions were going at the front and rear of where the north south stretching jet line originated.
I began yelling for people to look at the sky, in a parking lot , very busy, AND NO ONE WOULD LOOK UP, with a 2 exceptions. My coworker heard me yelling, thinking I was fighting with someone? And he began filming, he googled what it was, Elon musk’s rocket re entering the atmosphere, so, there you have it. I have the photos.
There was a lot going on , can’t be more specific, and I had to go back to work, saw nothing depart, I observed for 40 minutes, and as I left the explosions had ended, and smoke in a plume that looked like a giant whale shaped mother ship kept glowing 100 times the size of the many lights moving around in no succession, or pattern.  Deltona — We invested in a cheap telescope about two months ago. My fiancé and I love to watch the skies and bit after 9 PM on December 31, 2017. we saw a red light come from the ground and go up into the skies and disappear. It was not fireworks and not a plane. I have captured 2 photographs on my Nikkon. We also noticed more red and orange lights last night. If interested in seeing my photos and maybe having a chat, please email me back. I am so excited to see someone else that is seeing what we are. I was beginning to think I was going crazy.

Here are the pictures I took at 8:12 PM Sunday, December 31 2017, We watched it come from the ground and go up. It did not make a sound and was not fireworks. Kansas Rod

Driving between Pratt and Dodge City heading west at dusk on January 11, 2018. I noticed a large glowing yellow rod of light. I thought it was an airplane exhaust trail being lit by sun. It didn’t change or dissipate or move with the clouds. I noticed an airplane exhaust trail headed towards it coming from the east, at which time the object ceased to be glowing yellow, and was grey but kept its shape. Object began to move away keeping a vertical bearing staying in front of the airplane. It kept it’s rod like shape but appeared smaller as it moved away. After object was out of sight, multiple jet engine exhaust trails criss crossed the area for 30 minutes.

The initial glowing object seemed quite large considering it was very far away and much larger than the jet trails from the criss crossing planes that came after the rod left. The original “rod” had clear borders and did not dissipate like a chemical trail from a plane would, and it had a definite top and bottom border both while glowing and when turned grey. I was half way between Pratt and Dodge City KS, with the object to the west and south of my position. I stopped to try and photograph it when it was a grey rod moving away. I believe the object was quite large, and sat on top of the lowest band if clouds. The whole episode lasted an hour

New York Object

Queensbury — On November 9th, 2017 at 6:45 PM a couple of relatives, saw an UFO that they cannot explain. The couple were just getting home when Mindy saw some lights above a tree line. She called her husband to come out. They both observed an object about 20-30 feet long above the tree line but could not see an outline. It had 6 green lights, that looked like windows several feet apart. The object had no sound and it was hovering at the same height the whole time.
As the object hovered it was emanating amazing continuous lights like cork screws. They were going through the trees n all directions.
After three minutes of observing and being mesmerized, Randy went into the house. It was freaking him out and didn’t want to have anything to do with it any longer. Mindy looked north east and also saw a green glowing flashing ball of light that just disappeared. This is an accurate artist rendering of what they saw. Thanks to MUFON CMS

 Memphis — I’ll start off by mentioning this occurred sometime between 6:45 – 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2018) lasting for 30 – 45 seconds, My sister and I were outside our house and I noticed a green light stretching horizontally in the distance across the night sky, but this was emitting from a tall building less than five miles away. This building is covered in green lights, and come nighttime it turns on and basically becomes a gigantic green light bulb. This building is over 30 stories high, so the light was illuminating the sky above it. area. After a minute or so, I saw this dark figure seemingly emerge out of nowhere above the green light.

I knew just from the sheer size of it that it wasn’t anything man made, so I pointed it out to my sister and she saw it immediately. It remained behind the clouds, but the light emitted from the building and into the clouds resulted in the UFO being exposed for a brief moment. The craft did not reflect any light. It was an oval-shaped, disk-like shadow sticking out like a sore thumb in the sky. It was much larger than any sort of airplane or aircraft that I’m aware of by a long shot. I had an enormous rush of adrenaline rushing through me.  Thanks to MUFON CMSCMS

”Washington Light

 Spokane — I was on my way to work and my first turn was down a hill (My city is in a river valley). I saw these three bright lights in the sky not much higher than my current elevation on April 21, 1014.. I drove down the hill and pulled off at a convenient place and took out my iPhone 4s cell phone. I began to record these slow moving objects. I propped my cell phone on the hood of my truck so the images wouldn’t be too shaky. I saw what looked like a Gonzaga University Police car. I was hoping to catch the lights again on a bridge over a valley on my way to work. But, I never saw the slow moving lights again. I have 10 years in Security and was on my way to work at an airport. Cameron — While driving west on hwy8 towards Cameron I noticed what looked like chemtrails I the sky on January 6, 2018.

I decided to take pics to show somebody. After I took them I zoomed in and noticed the UFO lights in them. They were caught on 3 of the pics.. one behind clouds. This happened around 12:30 pm. Awesome I think I caught a UFO! Thanks to MUFON CMS

I was smoking outside in the back of my house and noticed this orange ball kind of gliding just below the clouds it looked like can’t really judge the distance probably over 5 km. But noticed it like I said going across the sky then stopped. And it disappeared behind my garage roof and when I moved to see it again it was gone.

France Light

Cavaillon – During the night of 24th to 25th of December 2017, leaving my mother’s house I was driving on the “road of Avignon”  when I saw in the sky three orange balls. They are not stars, they are too big, but thry are not planes. The 3 balls moved so as to form an isoceles triangle.
Getting closer and closer  the light melted into the sky. Then a second light disappeared.There was only one stationary bright and continuous bright light on the sphere. When I looked back again, I simply lost sight of it. It took me 5 minutes to realize I really could not explain it. For me, it was UFOs.

The next day my beautiful sister said “My friend and I saw them too!”
I searched on the internet and saw two testimonies resembling mine, one in Vedene, the other in Ile-sur-sorgues.  Thanks to MUFON CMS

India Red Light

 Nagpur — On 6th of January 2018 I was working on my laptop at 06:50 PM when there was a blackout due to power cut in our locality. I moved out on to the roof to look around and saw an unusual glowing red light over the terrace of a building. It appeared like towers warning lights for planes. It was at such a low altitude as the. light slowly started to ascend. I thought somebody might be testing their drone cameras or something. After rising a meter or so the light just disappeared. Since it looked unusual I took out my cell phone (Motorola Moto E2) and pointed its camera towards the sky. It came quite close to my vantage point. Hovered there for two to three seconds then disappeared momentarily and reappeared again just above the same spot where it disappeared. Hovered there for a while and then disappeared again. Mexican Lights

Cancun — This photo was taken before boarding the flight back home on September 7, 2004, and I only noticed the object in the background sky above the plane. When looking at the pictures back home I’m presuming it’s probably a meteorite but always wondered as it does appear to have a solid structure next to the light.
I did send it somewhere else about 10 years ago but never heard anything back and the recent boom in UFO related events reminded me of this. So will let you have a look and see what you think. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Derby — Lying in bed I always look at the stars on January 8, 2018, I noticed it by the flashing lights thought be a plane or helicopter but went outside – no noise.
Staying in one place so not a plane.
I was a bit excited and I tried to zoom in on phone camera can see it changing colors.

According to NASA, A Skyscraper-Sized Asteroid Hurtling Toward Earth Is ‘Potentially Hazardous’

A massive kilometer-wide asteroid is hurtling towards our planet at a speed of 107,826 km per hour.

Asteroid AJ129 2002, which will pass eerily close to our planet on February 4 at a speed of 107,826 km per hour has been classified by the International Astronomical Union as “potentially hazardous” for Earth.

Potentially hazardous objects are either asteroids or comets with an orbit such that it has the potential to make close approaches to the Earth and is of a size large enough to cause significant regional damage in the event of an impact.

The asteroid measures approximately 1.1 kilometers in diameter.

Astronomers place potentially hazardous asteroids with some threat from impacting our planet in the next 100 years are listed on the Sentry Risk Table.

Reports indicate that as of March 2017 there are 1,786 known potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs) and only 205 have an observation arc shorter than 30 days. Of the known PHAs, 157 are believed to be larger than one kilometer in diameter.

As noted by the Mail, the speed the speed the asteroid is traveling at is nearly 15 times faster than the world’s quickest manned aircraft – the hypersonic North American X-15, which traveled at 4,520mph (7,300kmh).

The asteroid measures approximately 1.1 kilometers, which makes it larger than the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa of Dubai, which is 800 meters high. According to NASA calculations, the asteroid should pass a distance of 4.2 million kilometers from Earth, which is understood as a fairly close distance on the cosmic scale.

Taking this into consideration, astronomers note how asteroids within a radius of fewer than 7.4 million kilometers of our planet are defined as “dangerous”.

Scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (USA) warn that if the asteroid hits the Earth, the consequences would have a “very severe global” consequence and would last several years.

In case of an impact, the Earth would likely become a much darker place, colder and dry.

In the “worst case”, the soot would remain in the atmosphere for about 10 years, while the dust would take six years to settle. Average temperatures around the world would drop to 8 ° C.

However, despite the fact AJ129 2002 has been deemed a potentially hazardous asteroid, NASA does not estimate that this asteroid will impact our planet now.

UH researchers develop powerful new tool for looking for life beyond Earth

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

Researchers at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), in collaboration with NASA, have developed an innovative new spectroscopy instrument to aid the search for extraterrestrial life. The new instrument is designed to detect compounds and minerals associated with biological activity more quickly and with greater sensitivity than previous instruments.

Shiv Sharma and Anupam Misra, researchers at the Hawai‘i Institute for Geophysics and Planetology (HIGP) in SOEST, and team developed the new instrument, which improves on an analytical technique known as micro-Raman spectroscopy. This technique uses the interaction between laser light and a sample to provide chemical composition information on a microscopic scale. It can detect organic compounds such as the amino acids found in living things and identify minerals formed by biochemical processes on Earth that might indicate life on other planets.

“Our instrument is one of the most advanced Raman spectrometers ever developed,” said M. Nurul Abedin of NASA Langley Research Center, who led the research team. “It overcomes some of the key limitations of traditional micro-Raman instruments and is designed to serve as an ideal instrument for future missions that use rovers or landers to explore the surface of Mars or Jupiter’s icy Europa moon.”

The researchers report that their new system, which they call the standoff ultra-compact micro-Raman (SUCR) instrument, is the first to perform micro-Raman analysis of samples four inches away from the instrument with 17.3-micron resolution—finer than a human hair. The new spectrometer is significantly faster than other micro-Raman instruments and extremely compact. These features are important for space applications and could also make the instrument useful for real-time biomedical and food analyses.

“Micro-Raman spectroscopy is being explored for detecting skin cancer without a biopsy and can be used to for food analysis applications such as measuring caffeine in drinks,” said Abedin. “Our system could be used for these applications and others to provide fast chemical analysis that doesn’t require sending samples off to a laboratory.”

Designing for space

For space exploration, the instrument had to be small and light to minimize fuel use during the nine-month journey to Mars or the six-year journey to Europa; but also robust enough to withstand the harsh conditions in space.  

The SUCR instrument uses the direct coupled Raman system design previously developed at UHM by Sharma, Anupam and others for remote chemical detection of samples over 100 meters away from the instrument in daylight. To create the SUCR instrument, the researchers modified the collection optics of the previously developed system to acquire spectra of samples closer to the instrument. They also further reduced system’s footprint by using a miniaturized spectrometer—small enough to carry with one hand.

The compact instrument connects all the optics directly to the spectrometer, which significantly improved performance compared to fiber-coupled Raman systems because less signal is lost.

Fast analysis in daylight conditions

The new instrument offers several important improvements to previous micro-Raman spectroscopy instruments, which require samples to be collected prior to analysis and measurements to take place in the dark. The team carefully designed the optics of the system to enable fast analysis under daylight conditions and to produce a strong Raman signal that isn’t as prone to interference as traditional systems. 

In room light on conditions, they used SUCR to analyze minerals and organic compounds that might be associated with life on other planets, including included sulfur, naphthalene, mixed samples, marble, water, calcite minerals and amino acids. 

Because of the speed of the system, the team is hoping to create a Raman map of an area 5 by 5 millimeters in only one minute. Doing this with a traditional micro-Raman system would take several days.

As a next step, the researchers plan to test their SUCR instrument in environments that mimic those found on Mars and other planets. They will then begin the validation process to show that the device would operate accurately under conditions found in space.

New biggest radio telescope to help detect alien signals

China plans to build another big radio telescope that could boost the quest to determine if we're alone in the universe, and solve other long-standing mysteries.

China plans to amp up its ability to search for aliens, dark matter, gravitational waves and other mysteries of the universe by building the world's largest fully steerable radio telescope. 

The country already hosts the world's largest radio telescope, the Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST). It and Puerto Rico's Arecibo Observatory are basically huge stationary dishes built into the landscape. But fully steerable radio telescopes like the Green Bank telescope in West Virginia (currently the largest of the type) can be moved and rotated to aim at specific targets.

China approved plans for the new telescope this week. It will be located in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and known as the Xingjiang Qitai 110m Radio Telescope (QTT). It will have a steerable dish 10 percent larger in diameter than that of the Green Bank observatory with the ability to cover 75 percent of the sky.

"The antenna, the world's largest, will be able to trace the origins of any signals received," Song Huagang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences said in a statement.

FAST can cover some frequencies that are lower than what QTT is able to cover, but the two huge radio telescopes will also have overlapping coverage in the range between around 150 MHz and 3 GHz.

Doug Vakoch of METI International, which searches for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) and develops potential messages for E.T., said this overlap is significant because it includes the so-called "water hole" of particular interest to SETI researchers.

"It's a quiet space between prominent spectral lines created by hydrogen and hydroxyl, the constituents of water that is so central to life on Earth," he explained via email. "The partially overlapping frequency range of the QTT and FAST means that the detection of a candidate signal by one telescope can be followed up immediately by the other instrument, assuming the data is being analyzed in real time."

But the value of QTT, Vakoch adds, may not be so much in its ability to search for signs of distant advanced civilizations, but in how it will contribute to unraveling other natural mysteries of the universe. During its tria testing phase, FAST already managed to discover two pulsars. 

We'll still have to wait to see how effective the tag-team operation of FAST and the QTT will be at picking up alien signals and who knows what else, though: QTT isn't scheduled to go into operation until 2023.

Top secret files reveal probe into UFO spotted near Blackpool’s Central Pier.

Military top brass were called in to investigate pictures of UFOs taken by a holidaymaker in Blackpool.

But after looking for signs of ET, they dismissed the photographs as a close encounter of the BIRD kind.

Details of the sighting were released by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) after it declassified large swathes of its top secret dossier on UFOs.

The three snapshots were sent to the RAF’s Air Command unit by a tourist, who said: “I have recently downloaded some photos ... which upon closer inspection revealed some aircraft which I could not identify at the time [or] could hear or see.”

But after being scrutinised, internal documents revealed experts didn’t believe the ‘aircraft’ came from another world.

“Everyone who has seen them think that two of the photos look like stunt kites that have broken loose from their control strings, or perhaps we cannot quite see the attached strings in the photos,” an email from a wing commander, whose name was redacted, said.

“That would explain the lack of noise reported by the photographer. The third looks like a seagull head on.” 

But they added: “However, clearly without being there we can’t be definitive.

” The air force said no manaoeuvres were taking place in Blackpool at the time and date, 2.51pm on Friday, October 3, 2008, the pictures were taken close to Central Pier.

UFO expert Dr David Clarke previously told the BBC he didn’t believe the MoD’s files contained ‘any solid evidence we have been visited by intelligent life’. He said: “The vast majority of reports are ordinary things seen in extraordinary situations. So many things can be interpreted as unusual, you’ve got to eliminate all that noise and see what’s left.

"

La vérité est que dans de nombreux cas, seuls des fragments de vidéos sont libérés dans lesquels ces objets mystérieux sont visibles. Boeing's Hypersonic Plane Design Travels at 5 Times the Speed of Sound

The world is about to get a lot smaller, as a major aerospace company makes a move towards creating superfast air travel.

Boeing's "Son of Blackbird", designed as a successor to the SR-71-Blackbird, isn't a reality just yet, but early concept designs for the plane suggest that it could reach speeds of up to Mach Five, or 3,836 miles per hour. To put this into context, the original Blackbird is capable of 2,200 mph, while the average commercial jet will only make it to around 560 mph.

Flying at Mach Five isn't a big deal - plane prototypes have managed it before. The big challenge is actually getting a plane up to that speed, and then decelerating afterwards so that it can land safely. In the words of Boeing's chief scientist for hypersonics, Kevin Bowcutt, who said the following to Aviation Week:

"It’s a really hard problem to develop an aircraft that takes off and accelerates through Mach 1 all the way to Mach 5 and beyond."

A previous test saw a plane prototype achieve Mach 5.1 for a period of a few minutes, but it only achieved this speed by being launched, like a giant rocket, out of another aircraft. Even then, the prototype quickly ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean, suggesting that this may not be the safest way to travel just yet.

Even so, Boeing seems keen to take their initial concept design and turn it into something a little more concrete, and given the company's track record for very quickly turning design briefs into prototypes, it's worth assuming that they'll manage this sooner, rather than later.

As with other ongoing Boeing endeavors, there's an element of pressure to getting aircraft up to reliably hypersonic speeds - plenty of other companies, and even NASA, are also working on improving planes so that they're able to fly faster, thanks to developments in nanotube technology and other new ways of speeding things up while aircraft are in the sky.

While the Son of Blackbird is intended as a military plane, it's worth assuming that before long, much of this new technology will also filter down into Boeing's other creations. Ideally, we'll see hypersonic planes becoming the norm for civilian passenger flights and cargo shipments, meaning that getting from one side of the world to the other could become a lot easier and quicker.

Hopefully, this will mean that we'll all be able to travel the globe (and beyond) with greater speed, and it'll be a lot less time consuming to ship items from one country to another. While this new technology will probably be incredibly expensive at first, eventually it'll make sense for airlines to offer competitive prices for customers, as faster speeds become the norm, rather than the exception, in air travel.

We're still no closer to solid teleportation, but if a four hour flight can become just an hour or two in the air, everybody wins - so long as these changes in air travel are also offset by better fuel solutions that are less harmful for the environment. The carbon footprint for airplanes is bad enough as it is.

If you've always wanted to visit a distant part of the world, but you don't want to have to sit on a plane for a full eighteen hours, it might be worth keeping an eye on what Boeing is up to.

This is the point at which you may imagine a narrator voiceover telling you, in a grave voice, that it will not surprise you. A current Google search for such seashells shows (aside from the recent flurry of news spawned by Waring's new announcement) that people have indeed been claiming to see them on Mars for some time.

The most concise explanation for this is that Mars is a giant rock, on the surface of which sits a high volume of tiny rocks; so way more than 15 of them are likely going to look sort of like seashells. Last year, after U.S. Representative Dana Rohrabacher, a Republican from California, asked members of a NASA panel to comment on whether there were ancient civilizations on Mars's surface, NASA project scientist Ken Farley diplomatically stated that there was no such evidence, and that its existence would be "extremely unlikely."

There is indeed evidence of an ancient ocean on Mars, but Waring was not the one who found it. NASA scientists announced in 2015 that a liquid ocean had once covered nearly one-fifth of the Red Planet's northern hemisphere—meaning it contained more water than the Earth's own Arctic Ocean. The presence of liquid water on the Red Planet is one of the factors that makes it among the most promising places in our solar system to search for signs of microscopic life, according to NASA.

"The evidence of alien life is in most photos of Mars and other planets, but the work must be put in to find the details," Waring wrote. On that one, we might be able to agree. 

Waring, who once claimed on his site that an "ancient head" had been found on Mars resembling then-President Barack Obama's (I mean, see for yourself, but suffice it to say it does not) mysteriously shut down his site for a period of 2017, according to the Houston Chronicle. However, he returned shortly after and has been going about business as usual for some time now.

“Don't those all just look like rocks to you?” NASA representative Guy Webster told Newsweek via email in response to a request for comment on the claims. “They do to me. It can be fun to point out 'faces,' 'statues,' 'seashells' and other shapes in rocks that were sculpted by erosion...The hundreds of thousands of raw images made easily available to the public from America's Mars rovers give plenty of opportunity for people who like to do so.”

The scientific name for the common phenomenon of seeing shapes and designs where there are none is pareidolia. Our brains see a blank canvas, like clouds or tea leaves or the surface of the moon or Mars, and autocomplete with imagery that is familiar to us to help make sense of them. Understandably, it’s something that comes up with NASA photos quite a lot.

On Dec. 16, three experienced journalists posted a bombshell story on the New York Times website: The Pentagon had authorized a secret research project (2007-2012) to study unidentified flying objects. 

Even more importantly, Luis Elizondo, the Pentagon project coordinator and a career intelligence officer, later asserted that in his opinion some UFOs were real objects and appeared to demonstrate a technology that the U.S. did not have and did not understand. To highlight that point, the Pentagon also released “gun camera” film of a Navy pilot’s 2004 close encounter with an objectthat displayed wildly unconventional flight characteristics.

The mainstream media was caught completely off guard by the sensational Pentagon revelations, although they should not have been. Some breathlessly opined that never before had a U.S. intelligence agency acknowledged UFOs were solid objects that defied conventional explanation. Well, not exactly. While that assertion is true in some narrow sense, the belief that the U.S. intelligence community had been unaware of the exotic nature of UFOs until the recent Pentagon study is just totally bogus.

In point of fact, they have known about the unconventional nature of the phenomenon for decades and have chosen to hide the bulk of that information (dozens of military gun camera films, for example) from Congress and especially from the American people.    

Contrary to the media coverage of the Pentagon story, the U.S. defense and intelligence communities actually have known about the exotic nature of UFOs since at least 1947. There exists, for example, a once-secret document (dated Sept. 23, 1947) written by Gen. Nathan Twining (Air Material Command) that acknowledges reported flying discs “are real and not visionary or fictitious” and that the discs “must be considered evasive when sighted ... which lends belief to the possibility that some of the objects are (intelligently) controlled.”

And since the U.S. military had dozens of reports from experienced military pilots and FAA controllers and ground personnel that the discs could hover, turn on a dime and then accelerate at incredible speeds — unlike any technology that existed then or now — it was implicit even in 1947 that these flying objects were not ours. 

In short, the deep intelligence state has known for at least 70 years that some UFOs were real; yet it has chosen to keep the information in support of that conclusion either confidential or simply denied that it even existed. But a decades-long public policy of  secrecy and denial on a subject as important and mind-bending as UFOs is foolish and dangerous in the extreme and puts our entire democratic process at risk.

If any of this commentary sounds familiar, it should since I first raised these issues in a series of articles published by TCPalm in 2008. In those articles, I pointed out there was substantial evidence gathered over many decades that some UFOs were likely extraterrestrial; the intelligence community was withholding that information; and the reasons for the secrecy likely related to fears of a public panic or to national security concerns since many important UFO sightings had occurred in the vicinity of U.S. defense installations and nuclear weapon storage facilities. 

Despite any possible national security concerns, several prominent public figures, most notably Hillary Clinton, have called for more increased transparency on the subject of UFOs. Curiously, my call for disclosure in 2008 went over like a lead balloon. Most of my professional colleagues in law and economics thought I had lost my mind (even though I had studied the phenomenon for almost 40 years); and the Cato Institute abruptly ended its 20 year affiliation with me (as an adjunct scholar) one day after my first UFO article appeared. So much for courage and open inquiry in the academy.

The good news is these perverse attitudes are changing somewhat. The New York Times' Pentagon project revelations have created an important opportunity for more serious media coverage of past and current government UFO research. We must take advantage of that opportunity now and push for open Congressional hearings and full disclosure.

A bright meteor briefly swept across the sky over parts of the U.S. Midwest and Canada on Tuesday, weather and geology agencies said, and then caused a powerful explosion that rattled homes and onlookers.

The meteor was seen across the region in places such as Ohio, Michigan and Ontario at about 8 p.m. local time and registered a 2.0 magnitude tremor about 4 miles (7 km) east of Saint Clair Shores in Eastern Michigan, the United States Geological Survey said on its website.

The mystery of three recent earth-shaking explosions in Russia, Dallas and the U.S. Midwest is not their cause – even diehard skeptics are calling them meteors or bolides. What’s mysterious is why such unusually violent and visible space rock events occurred in a space of just nine days. Where is NASA’s meteor alert team? Are we in the middle of an undiscovered meteor shower? Should we expect more? Does Home Depot sell meteor-proof sheds?

On the night of January 7th, 2018, a deep blue light crossed over the heavily-populated, southwestern Russia republics of Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, and Tatarstanin. As is the case in Russia, the incident was picked up on dash cams, showing the darkness change briefly to light as the blue flash passed overhead. The Siberian Times reports the usual denials of manmade responsibly by the Russian military and space program, which are plausible since few if any witnesses reported hearing an explosion or any other sound. Astronomers disagreed on possible causes, with Yuri Nefefyev of the Engelhardt Astronomical Observatory blaming atmospheric electricity, while Sergey Golovkin of the Kazan Federal University Physics Institute speculating it was a bolide that burned up completely in the atmosphere and never hit land. Plenty of pictures … no explanations. That sounds like Russia.

But not Dallas where, on January 12th at around 8:34 pm, a huge boom was heard, with some witnesses reporting a bright flash first and the feeling of percussion afterwards. While there were just a few security cameras catching the event, the video was enough to convince astronomer Ron DiIulio from the University of North Texas that it was either a meteorite or a piece of space debris. Based on the flash and the sound of the sonic boom, Dilulio figured the ‘thing’ was about the size of a grapefruit … far smaller than whatever passed over those Russian republics.

It was probably far smaller than whatever it was that passed over southeastern Michigan on January 16th shortly after 8 pm. Reports of the flash came in to the American Meteor Societyfrom Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada, but the object appears to have hit the atmosphere and broken apart over New Haven, Michigan. While NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office estimated the asteroid to be no more than two yards in diameter when it began breaking up. At least one piece landed in Livingston County, with either the impact or the sonic boom registering as a magnitude 2.0 earthquake.

Three large, multi-witness, explosion-causing meteorites in different parts of the world over a nine-day period. Could they be related? There’s no known meteor shower underway that could have caused them. While the events seem huge to the witnesses, these space rocks were too small to be picked up by the various early warning systems. The old Chinese space station hasn’t dipped low enough to cause any of these. Is it just coincidence or could it be something else?

Should we be worried about this increase in the frequency of large meteorites? With the frequency of incoming missile false alarms lately, the answer is obvious.

Een huisdier zoals een kat of een hond kan meestal heel goed duidelijk maken aan het baasje wat het wil of dat er iets aan de hand is. 

Wij nemen aan dat wij weten wat ze bedoelen, maar binnen tien jaar hoeven we daar niet meer aan te twijfelen, want het dier vertelt het ons gewoon in het Nederlands. 

De meeste mensen die een hond hebben, begrijpen meestal wat hun dier wil duidelijk maken, maar ze hebben het dier nog nooit Nederlands of Engels horen praten. Want, dan zouden er misschien wel heel verrassende dingen hoorbaar kunnen zijn.

We hebben het regelmatig over de zogenaamde predictive programming van Hollywood, waarbij zij de toekomst in allerlei speelfilms of televisieseries aan ons duidelijk maken. 

In dit kader zou het kunnen dat ze ons begin jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw al aan het voorbereiden waren op normaal Engels of Nederlands sprekende dieren met de beroemde Mr. Ed, het sprekende paard. 

 

Maar nu schijnt wat toen science fiction leek, werkelijkheid te worden dankzij het werk van professor Con Slobodchikoff van de universiteit van Arizona in Amerika. 

Het team dat daar werkt, denkt nog ongeveer tien jaar nodig te hebben om met AI (Artificial Intelligence) in staat te zijn om het geblaf van een hond of het miauwen van een kat om te zetten in mensentaal, eerst in het Engels. Als dat eenmaal een feit is, dan zullen er uiteraard ook heel snel versies komen in het Nederlands. Of anders heb je een hond of een kat met ondertiteling.

Er wordt aan de universiteit nu gewerkt met de geluiden die een zogenaamde prairiehond maakt. Dit is geen echte hond, want hij behoort tot de familie van de eekhoorns.

Prairiehonden (Cynomys) zijn een geslacht van op en onder de grond levende knaagdieren uit de familie eekhoorns (Sciuridae). Ze komen voor op de prairies van Noord-Amerika.

De dieren kunnen ongeveer 40 cm lang worden en wegen tussen de 1 en 4 kilo. In gevangenschap kunnen ze 8 à 10 jaar oud worden met uitschieters naar 12 jaar. Vers gras is het meest gebruikte voedsel. De naam heeft het dier te danken aan het scherpe geblaf dat het laat horen.

Prairiehonden zijn sociale dieren, die in meerdere familiegroepen samen in één gebied wonen: een zogenaamd prairiehondendorp. Deze dorpen bevinden zich onder de grond, waarbij elke familie zijn eigen ingang heeft met meerdere kamers.

De reden dat deze dieren zijn uitgekozen om mee te werken, is omdat ze een unieke manier van communiceren hebben en dan in het bijzonder wanneer ze elkaar waarschuwen voor een dreiging. Deze dieren kunnen een luid alarmgeluid voortbrengen dat klinkt als het blaffen van een hond. Dit soort geblaf is zo gedetailleerd dat het zelfs de kleinste details weergeeft over het soort bedreiging.

Professor Slobodchikoff heeft het gedrag en geluid van deze dieren inmiddels 30 jaar lang bestudeerd en zegt dat ze door dat onderzoek binnenkort in staat zullen zijn om te begrijpen wat honden en katten proberen te zeggen.

Dit alles zal dan worden ingebracht in een apparaatje dat volgens William Higham, een onderzoeker bij Amazon, binnen tien jaar beschikbaar zal zijn voor het grote publiek. Ze verwachten hiervoor bij Amazon een enorme markt omdat huisdieren natuurlijk een wereldwijd begrip zijn.

Volgens de professor kan het apparaat door de eigenaar van het dier zodanig worden ingesteld/bijgesteld dat er ook geantwoord kan worden op het praten van de kat of de hond.

Het grote voordeel is dan natuurlijk dat we nu denken te begrijpen wat het dier ons wil duidelijk maken, maar met behulp van een dergelijk apparaatje weet je zeker wat wordt bedoeld. Dat zou natuurlijk van belang zijn wanneer het dier iets mankeert en het dit duidelijk wil maken. 

Volgens professor Slobodchikoff kan zijn uitvinding ook een belangrijke rol spelen bij dieren met gedragsproblemen. 

Maar, niet alle dieren hebben een dergelijk apparaatje nodig, zoals de hond in onderstaande video.

The mean stream media will have you to believe it was a meteor, but images taken at the moment of the “meteor” event showing something else what seems to be a precise ray of energy beamed down lighting the ground on fire and so far I know a meteor cannot fell at a perfect 90 degrees angle says investigator Jeffery Pritchett.

Not only it seems like two separate incidents have happened on the same day, the meteor did not caused the 2.0 magnitude earthquake, said William Yeck, a research geophysicist at the US Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colorado.

A meteor that explodes in the sky can be explained, (if it was a meteor) but a 2.0 magnitude earthquake and rays of energy beams is something that seems impossible to happen at the same time.

There’s a lot of discussion going on what might have been the rays of energy beams in particular. Was it just the meteor, an energy weapon or it has something to do with an upcoming space war?

Or could it be, according to a mind-bending new Aerospace Defence Forces (ADF) report that circulated in the Kremlin two days ago and says that no known modern scientific explanation can be found as to why one of the oldest discovered comets in our solar system, named 41P/Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresák, has mysteriously slowed down to a near stop and began “firing” at Earth with its first “electrical discharge strike”(commonly known as the “Electric Universe Theory”) occurring on 7 January over vast regions of Eastern Russia turning the night sky electric blue and shaking the ground, its then striking Texas, on 10 January, turning the night sky to daylight and shaking the ground and, on 16 January, striking large regions of the United States—most particularly in Michigan.

Rejoice archaeology, fans researchers in Mexico have discovered what is considered the largest underwater archaeological site on the planet.

One of the lesser-known corners of the Mayan underworld has finally come to light.

The most extensive system of flooded caves ever recorded has been discovered in Tulum, in the Mexican Riviera Maya.

A group of explorers of the Mayan Great Aquifer project has found that the Sac Actún and Dos Ojos systems are connected, which has opened a new passage in an underground labyrinth that measures about 347 kilometers. The researchers have found hundreds of archeological objects that show a robust Mayan culture presence in the region, as well as extinct animals.

“This immense cave system represents the most important submerged archaeological site in the world,” says Guillermo de Anda, specialist of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and director of the research.

The cenotes (from the Maya word dzonoot), as the immense natural pits, sinkholes or eyes of water are referred to in Mexico, occupied a central place in the Mayan cosmogony.

They were revered as the underworld and the third level of the Mayan universe, after heaven and earth, but without a negative connotation like hell in Christianity.

The ancient Maya considered this a ‘very powerful, magical region, where the supernatural reigns, where the gods and deities lived, where good and bad coexist, and it was also where men came from,’ says De Anda.

The cenotes were, in the words of the researcher, “the main stage of the myth of creation” of that civilization, which extended from the southeast of Mexico to Honduras and El Salvador.

Furthermore, the findings give an account of that mystical sense.

The massive underwater cave system is a treasure trove containing the history of the Yucatan Peninsula. 

Researchers found remains of Mayan pottery vessels, objects that date back to colonial times and funerary or sacrificial contexts, which researchers are still analyzing.

There were also human remains and a large number of animals such as giant sloths, bears, tigers and ancient horses.

“It is a time tunnel, which transports us into a time 12,000 and 10,000 years ago,” says De Anda.

The difficult access to the cenotes has helped that the archaeological materials are preserved in optimal conditions for their study, without alterations or wear by the contact of men.

Researchers at the Great Maya Aquifer needed ten months to decipher the connection between the two flooded cave systems, which they have described as an “intense” work season that began in March of last year.

Some members of the team, such as head diver Robert Schmittner, have spent more than 20 years scouring the underwater galleries and 14 years looking for the connection between the great caverns.

“We had come very close before, we were once a meter away from connecting both systems,” says Schmittner.

“It was like walking the veins of a body, a labyrinth of paths that joined and separated and we had to be very careful,” the diver added while speaking about the water passages, which in some cases were only one meter deep, having also deeper parts reaching 120 meters underground.

The discovery was made on January 10 and being united; the “new” system has adopted the name of Sac Actún (from the Maya ‘white cave’), the larger of the two and the Dos Ojos system has ceased to exist.

Sac Actún was until a couple of days ago the second largest system of cenotes, behind Ox Bel Ha that translates into Spanish as three waterways, which measures about 270 kilometers and is also located in the Riviera Maya.

Despite the finding, the researchers continue exploring the connections of Sac Actún with two other underground systems.

It is estimated that only in the north of Quintana Roo, in the Yucatan Peninsula, there are 1,400 underground kilometers of fresh water, spread over 358 systems, according to the speleological survey of the southern Mexican state. The next steps are the analysis of groundwater and the study of diversity, as well as the adoption of measures to help conserve the site.

Scientists to use robots to look inside the hidden, never-before-seen chamber in the Great Pyramid

With the help of small robots, scientists will try to decipher what secrets are hidden inside the cavities recently discovered in the Great Pyramid of Giza. This exploration process will also see scientists irremediably damage a fraction of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Are we on the edge of one of the most important archaeological finds of the century?

Many researchers are convinced we are about to make an unprecedented discovery inside the Pyramid, one that may shed light on the real reason the great Pyramids was built in the first place.

This is the ‘Great Void’ inside the Great Pyramid which may hide a mystery throne made of Alien material.

Using muon detectors and thermal scanning, the ScanPyramid project reported the discovery of two previously unknown cavities within the Great Pyramid in November of 2017.

The largest cavity is at least 30 meters long and is located on the giant corridor (Grand Gallery) that extends to the king’s chamber. The smaller cavity, on the other hand, is located behind the north face of the pyramid and consists of a corridor whose length is uncertain.

Now, researchers plan to carry out more tests with muon detectors and are developing robots, miniature robots, that will have the ability to look inside the cavities by means of high-resolution cameras.

Currently little or nothing is known about the cavities inside the monument.

When the Pyramid was finished, this is what it may have looked like.

“There is a big difference in whether the shape of the major cavity is horizontal or has an inclination,” said Mehdi Tayoubi, president, and co-founder of the Institute for the Preservation and Innovation of Cultural Heritage, one of the institutions involved in the ScanPyramid project.

“If the cavity is tilted, for example, it could be a corridor similar to the Grand Gallery. But if it is horizontal, then we would be faced with the presence of one or more cameras never explored before.“

“In addition, the smallest cavity, which is presumed to be a passageway, may have been connected to a larger cavity in ancient times,” he added.

As the new tests with muon detectors begin, another team led by Jean-Baptiste Mouret, a researcher at the French National Institute for Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, will build two robots that will perform an “invasive exploration” of the alleged secret chambers.

According to Mouret, his team will make a small perforation of 3.8 centimeters in circumference to break through and insert the robots into the cavities.

“First we will make a reconnaissance, for this we will send a robot in the form of a tube with a panoramic sweeping camera and lights. The objective is to probe what is on the other side of the wall and obtain high-resolution images.”

“If there is something promising on the other side, then we will extract the recognition robot and insert the explorer robot. For this last ingenuity, we are designing an inflatable airship that is compressed during insertion and inflated remotely once inside the chamber, “explains the French researcher.

“The airship will allow the robot to fly and take pictures more quickly and efficiently, without the need to move on the ground.”

Before the robots begin their work, scientists must gather more data on the dimensions and location of the chambers something that could take more than a year—in order to know where to drill the access hole.

Likewise, the Ministry of Antiquities must give final approval to begin the task that will irremediably damage a tiny fraction of the Great Pyramid.

“We are working hard on the design of the robot to generate as little damage as possible.

We hope to be able to convince the Ministry of Antiquities that this is the right technology for the next step. Meanwhile, we will use the time to test our robots in other places,” concludes Mouret.
