Ascension day: the greatest feast of all
Hello all,
CHRISTMAS....we celebrate it as the greatest feast. And indeed: it is joyful. But it was still the beginning. God sent his Son to the world for the great solution. But at first there was only that baby....
EASTER.......it is the second in our celebrations: and indeed: big news. After those words :
"Ït is finished", (John 19 v 30).
the great work had been done. Our sins were taken over and atoned for by Jesus and he died, having done so. And on Easter, after having done a great work in the invisible world, he was resurrected and living for ever: greater than Christmas , the beginning, but still not the greatest.
But then came the day, that Jesus was crowned.
Daniel 7 v 17 says about this:
"In my vision at night I looked, ánd there before me me was one like a 'son of man'...."
and how often called Jesus himself 'a son of man'
"....coming with the clouds of heaven..."
and the disciples saw Jesus disappearing with those clouds.
"He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.
He was given authority,glory and sovereign power; all people, nations and men of every language worshipped him His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed".
Ascension day is the day of coronation and 'coming into office'.
This great day of Jesus is also our greatest day.
And the first deed of Jesus, being in power was to send out his Holy Spirit, by which we are blessed.
But WHITSUNDAY is also a great feast, but does not be a match for Ascunsion day.
Let us be glad with all the feasts of Jesus. But let us not forget this day....
