The UFO phenomenon is one that goes deep, and extends past what many might at first think. Many cultures around the world have their own legends and tales that feature something that could be seen as UFOs today, no matter whether the original people who told these stories knew what to call them or not. They have variously been attributed to gods, spirits, and other assorted entities, and the main takeaway is that this is a phenomenon that has been taking place in one form or other across cultures and geographical boundaries for a very long time. Native Americans also have their own stories of what in modern lingo would be aliens and UFOs, and even their own story of a crashed alien spacecraft.
One very interesting voice in the UFO field is the author, researcher, and Professor Emeritus at Montana State University, Dr. Ardy Sixkiller Clarke. Coming from Cherokee and Chocktaw heritage, she has been very active in working with the Native American community, raising awareness of their plight, and also writing on their experiences with the UFO and alien phenomena, a point of view that is rarely covered in the field. She has made much mention of the spiritual connection these people give to the phenomena, that UFOs and aliens are just as much a part of the spiritual realm as anything physical, and with some tribes even believing that their souls came from out in space. In an interview with the Skeptiko podcast she mentions of this connection:
It depends on the tribal group, and it’s difficult for me to say, as a general rule, there is this spiritual connection. But there definitely is with some of the tribes. There’s no question about it. Some of the tribes actually talk about the trip across the Milky Way. That when you die you cross the path of the Milky Way. You’ve got a common theme there that the cosmos plays so much a part in afterlife and death and the ability of the deceased that they never really die. They just move on into another dimension and that they can come back and communicate with the living.
She also writes much of what she calls the “Star People,” or ancient entities that came from the skies in their vessels to teach the Native people, and which are present in the lore and legends of many tribes, with some old tales even claiming that they interbred with them. These are not necessarily described as aliens from another world, exactly, but rather as spirits or gods descending from another spiritual realm. She has covered this theory in her book Encounters With Star People: Untold Stories of American Indians, and in some cases it seems that these are far from myth, as there have been tales of meeting these Star People right up to the present. One such tale covered in her book is that of a tribal elder known only as Harrison, a member of one of the Northern Plains tribes and who has quite the bizarre story to tell.
This apparently happened back in 1945, well before the UFO craze took over in the mainstream and indeed even before the infamous Roswell incident. At the time Harrison was just 12 years old, and one evening he was at home with his grandfather when they heard a rumbling as the whole house shook like there was an earthquake happening. The grandfather then ran outside to see that all of his horses had run off in a panic, so he tried to gather as many as possible and decided to search for the rest the following day. That morning, the grandfather went out to look for his remaining horses and came back obviously distressed and afraid of something. Harrison asked him what had happened and the grandfather merely told the boy to follow him. There is no way to know what Harrison expected to see at this point, but there is a good chance he couldn’t have imagined what was in store for him.
His grandfather took him some distance away, where there was a large gouge or crater in the earth, as if something very big had come to smash into the field. At the bottom of this crater was a metallic craft of some kind, with what appeared to be a doorway hanging open and damaged on the side. The two of them stood there staring for some time before the grandfather decided to go look inside, where he apparently found several entities that were described as being 8 feet tall and wearing green suits, with translucent skin and eyes that changed colors. The strangers seemed to be just as surprised to see him as he was to see them, even appearing to be slightly afraid of him and trying to distance themselves. The creatures seemed to shy away from him, and when he tried to speak with them they apparently vanished into thin air. Since the grandfather and Harrison had no notion of aliens from outer space, they thought of them in terms they could understand, that these were the “Star People” that their ancestors had so often spoken of.
Over the next several weeks these mysterious Star People appeared around the property, always keeping their distance and with the ability to appear and disappear at will. It seemed as if they were curious about Harrison and his grandfather, that they were studying them, but they were obviously very wary at first, never coming too close and vanishing whenever they were startled or scared. They were also seen to sometimes gather rocks, plants, and other things, as if taking samples for study. Through all of this, the grandfather always heartily greeted his enigmatic visitors and even offered them food on some occasions, and as the days went by they would approach closer and closer until one day they invited the grandfather onto their ship, which was still lodged into the earth at the bottom of that crater.
On the ship, the entities then communicated with him telepathically, telling them about their realm, which was described as dry and arid like the South Dakota badlands, the terrain so harsh they were forced to live underground in domed cities. They also told him about their history, and their way of life, and explained that they had been visiting Earth for thousands of years but had rarely ever actually interacted with humans as they were doing now, rather merely observing and studying. According to them there were two other ships they had been with at the time of their unfortunate crash, and that they had been sent by a larger mothership, which they were making attempts to contact with their damaged communications equipment. The grandfather would later tell Harrison that he had seen much wondrous technology aboard the ship while he was there, such as screens that could show all manner of images and a special seat that covered whoever sat in it “like an envelope.”
According to Harrison, one night the mothership finally came, a massive cylindrical object that hovered for some time before shooting off into the night. The next morning when they went to see the crater, the ship was gone, along with its strange occupants. Shortly after this Harrison claimed that U.S. military men had arrived and cordoned off the area. They would allegedly confiscate the grandfather’s entire ranch and create a lake at the site where the ship had come down. The grandfather apparently never equated these creatures or their ship with aliens as we know them, as in being from another planet, but he was very sure they were not from around here nevertheless. There is no way to know if any of this really happened or not, but it is certainly a curious UFO case and an account of possibly crashed aliens from another culture and mindset that we rarely get to see. Real or not, it is truly fascinating all the same.
Deeply spiritual cultures remember a time when “people from the stars” freely interacted with members of the human species.
Is Bigfoot Real? Let’s Look at Emerging Scientific Evidence
Is Bigfoot Real? Let’s Look at Emerging Scientific Evidence
In 1967, Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin spotted, and filmed, or so they claimed, a Sasquatch next to Bluff Creek in California. Dubbed an elaborate hoax by many, this image has become the universal symbol for Bigfoot throughout the United States. But, is Bigfoot real? A better question would be to ask why mainstream science has failed to put the question to the test when it comes to not only Bigfoot, but to other cryptids as well. Science is duty-bound by definition to explain the unexplained, yet some people are still debating the existence of Bigfoot rather than examining emerging scientific evidence, some of which has come to light in unexpected places.

UFO abductees come in all flavors. Some are highly respected or educated people who seem to have impeccable credentials, some are from more questionable sources. Some come from those who have stories that seem to follow some rational internal logic, while others fly right off the charts into the realm of the completely outlandish. Certainly some reports are way off the meter when it comes to pure bizarreness, and one of these is the time a farmer says he was whisked away to Mars, the Moon, and Venus by aliens.
The man named Buck Nelson was once pretty much a nobody. Born in 1895, he lived on his rural farm in the Ozark Mountains in Missouri, and there wasn’t really much that was remarkable about him. That is, until 1954, when one evening would turn his mundane world inside out. On this night he was out at his farm when his radio began acting up, changing channels on its own and turning on and off. As he tinkered with the radio trying to fix it, his dog began barking uncontrollably outside. The animal was apparently going absolutely nuts, so he went out to see what was going on and was startled by three disc-shaped crafts hovering in the sky above, one large one and two smaller ones. The startled farmer then tried to signal these crafts with his flashlight, and that was when he claimed to have been hit with a beam “much brighter and hotter than the sun.” This apparently did not hurt him, but it left him paralyzed and unable to move, after which the UFOs moved off into the night.
After this strange encounter, he claimed that chronic back pain he had dealt with for years suddenly disappeared and his eyesight improved, but this was only the beginning of the weirdness. The flying saucers would begin to make regular appearances over his farm, and there would also appear two “friendly human spacemen” who called themselves Bucky and Bob, with a large black dog that apparently looked exactly like a regular old Earth dog and which they called “Bo.” These men claimed that they were actually human beings who had long ago been brought to live with the aliens on their home world and that there were other humans up there as well. The spacemen apparently explained to him that they were from the planet Venus, and they then looked around his house and asked him various questions about his life and stuff. Nelson would say of this odd encounter:
They stayed with me for about an hour and they were interested in everything in the house, especially my radio. When I told them a battery on top of it was for power, they smiled and said, with all this power around you in the air?…they went past a picture of Christ and I asked them if that meant anything to them and they said, “yes, we understand but you people don’t.
Before leaving they told him that they would be back again to take him onto a trip to space. The aliens were apparently true to their word, because one night they took him aboard their spacecraft and allegedly took Nelson on a tour of the solar system. They stopped off at the moon, which was described as a manufacturing base, then Mars, which was colorful, vibrant, and similar to Earth, and then Venus, which was a fantastic peaceful utopia where there was no war or crime. On Venus, they apparently showed him a “book machine,” about the size of a TV set, which you could put a book into and it would read the pages and play music. Bucky and Bob also told Nelson about what they called “The Twelve Laws of God,” which are suspiciously nearly exactly the same as the 10 commandments from the Bible with a couple new ones tacked on, explained that they only used solar power, that many of the Venus aliens and abducted humans like them lived on earth, many in important positions and in the space industry, and that they were keeping a careful eye on the increasing development of atomic weapons. According to them, countless galactic civilizations had destroyed themselves with nuclear weapons and they feared Earth was careening along this doomed path.
Nelson would write of all of this in a booklet imaginatively titled My Trip to Mars, the Moon, and Venus, which includes instructions for building a “saucer detector,” and he also began holding an annual “Spacecraft Convention,” all of which made him a bit of a minor celebrity at the time. He would present many pictures as proof of all of this, and even samples of hairs from the spacemen’s dog, as well as alleged recordings of Bucky’s voice, but they are weak evidence at best. Considering that the spacemen looked exactly like humans, pictures of them are useless, and the hairs of the dog were merely dog hairs, prompting Nelson to comment “Dawgs is dawgs. Don’t matter what planet they’re from.” As for the voice caught on tape, although it is eerie, high and oddly shaky, it still sounds an awful lot like Nelson’s voice. Nelson would hold his conventions and bask in his minor fame all the way to his death in 1982, and remains a lesser known, but very odd feature of the 1950s contactee movement.
Nelson’s story is absurd on many levels. For one, we know now that Mars is hardly colorful and vibrant, that Venus does not have an atmosphere conducive to a utopian life, or even life in general, and it all seems to borrow heavily from the science fiction available at the time from writers such as Edgar Rice Burroughs and others. The booklet that Nelson wrote is also poorly written, thin on details, and reads exactly like one would expect from an uneducated farmer spinning yarns about aliens. Despite its quirky charm it reads like hack fiction, in fact, yet Nelson maintained to the last that it was all true. There is nearly zero chance that any element of the story is true, but it is nevertheless a fascinating peek into one of the weirder individuals in the contactee scene that was all the rage at the time, and a strange little tale to add to the lore of such stories.
There was a time when I thought it was at least feasible that cattle mutilationsmight be the work of aliens. That, however, was more than a few years ago. The more I dug into the mystery, the more I came to believe that the subject had far less to do with aliens and far more to do with government activity. Within in the field of Ufology, there is an acceptance that the first real animal mutilation case (as ufologists see it) was that of Snippy, a horse found dead under bizarre coincidences. As the Denver Library state of the Snippy affair: “On September 7, 1967, near the town of Alamosa in the San Luis Valley, Snippy, a 3-year-old Appaloosa, failed to return to the Harry King Ranch where she was stabled. Two days later, Mr. King (the ranch owner) discovered Snippy’s remains roughly a quarter-mile from the ranch house. According to his account, the neck and head had been completely stripped of flesh, leaving nothing but bare, seemingly sun-bleached, white bone, while the remainder of the mare remained unscathed.”
The problem here is not the story, but the fact that the more I dug into the matter of the mutilations, the more I came to find that secret government studies of the United States’ cattle herds had been going on for decades. In fact, way back. The reason: the U.S. government was quite rightly very worried about foreign nations and agents using deadly viruses to bring the herd down and, as a result, cause chaos in America. So, the government – periodically and careful and quietly – ran tests on cattle to see how such attacks on the U.S. were working or not on the poor animals. If that disappoints you, too bad. And if you think that such a thing couldn’t be done, consider the data contained in the documents I’m about to share with you now. It was back in 2001, while spending about in the National Archives, that I found out the extent to which government agencies were secretly tied to America’s cattle.
Bacteriological Warfare in the United States is a fascinating FBI document – declassified into the public domain via the terms of the Freedom of Information Act – that covers the years 1941 to 1950. Notably, of the file’s original 1,783 pages, no less than 1,074 have been firmly withheld from declassification by the FBI. The file reveals a wealth of illuminating and disturbing data on animal disease and death, and their potential, theoretical links to bacteriological warfare and sabotage by enemy nations and individuals. For example, J.R. Ruggle, the FBI Special-Agent-in-Charge at the Savannah, Georgia office of the Bureau in the early-to-mid 1940s, wrote thus to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover on February 3, 1943: “This office has received a copy of a communication from John T. Bissell, Colonel, General Staff, Assistant Executive Officer, Military Intelligence Service, Washington, D.C., dated December 29, 1942, to directors of intelligence in all Service commands…” Colonel Bissel’s communication read:
“It has been brought to the attention of this division the possibility in the immediate future of an attempt on the part of the enemy to plant bombs containing germs or to endeavor to create an epidemic, such as hoof and mouth disease, among cattle and other livestock. It is requested that should any information concerning the above come to the attention of the Directors of Intelligence of the Service Commands or the A.C. of S. [Assistant Chief of Staff], G-2 [Army Intelligence], Western Defense Command, that the same be transmitted by the most expeditious means to the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-2 War Department.” And what did the government do? I’ll tell you: they very carefully began to take a look at the cattle herd and to determine the extent to which those “enemy nations and individuals” might be. And the secret investigations were undertaken wherever it seemed the cattle were being subjected to viruses by our enemies.
The FBI even found examples of such concerns going back to the First World War: “Anton Dilger, a German-American medical graduate from John Hopkins University, was in Germany when the First World War broke out. He offered his services to the Kaiser, and was promptly detailed by Colonel Nicolai to do secret service work in the United States. Dilger returned to America with a supply of cultures of glanders and anthrax germs. Financed by von Papen, he set up a laboratory in Chevy Chase, near Washington, and started breeding germs on a large scale for infecting mules, horses, and cattle awaiting shipment to the allies. This man then organized a band of some twelve assistants to travel around the country, carrying Dilger’s germs in small glass phials stopped with corks through which a needle extended. This roving band jabbed their deadly needles into the livestock. They also spread germs by placing them in fodder and drink. Thousands of soldiers, as well as horses and cattle, died as a result of Dilger’s germs. At last Dilger revolted against his mission of silent death. He was murdered by German spies a few months before the end of the war. Could it happen here? It did happen here!”
Now, let’s take a trip to 1949. Particularly notable is a July 11, 1949 document that refers to the government’s desire to acquire “world-wide information on animal diseases and animal population” [italics mine]. And, one year later, the FBI was still collecting such data. On October 19, 1950, the FBI prepared a document titled Abnormal Loss of Hogs in Nebraska and Illinois that dealt with an unusually high number of hog deaths in the aforementioned states – as a result of cholera. The files, however, make it clear that, in official, FBI quarters, the nature of the animals’ deaths had been viewed with deep suspicion. It was concluded that the deaths were due to a “variant virus” or “atypical virus”” that stemmed from “local conditions and the physical conditions of the hogs.” The important factor, however, is that this document was found within a file specifically focused upon bacteriological warfare. In other words, the FBI was still looking closely at any and all animal deaths that might not have wholly conventional explanations.
So, we’ve seen that government concerns went back the First World War. Then, in the late 1940s the secret investigations were still going on. And, as was shown above, secret investigations of hogs in the 1950s took place. Then, a decade later, cattle mutilations began. I could have made this article at least a 4-part one, such is the sheer number of documents now available on the subject (if you know where to look). There are thousands and thousands of pages. Had cattle mutilations suddenly surfaced out of nowhere in 1967, I might be a bit more open to the alien angle. The fact is, though, that covert studies of America’s cattle have been going on for around a century. Sometimes with the bodies of the dead left where they were covertly studied. Add to that a bit of government disinformation to the effect that all of this is due to aliens, then it’s very easy to see how government agencies were able to undertake their secret studies and with the real (and far more disturbing) story kept hidden.

Divers practicing blackwater photography are helping marine scientists gain new insights into fish larvae.

For most scuba divers, few places underwater match the visual thrill of a kaleidoscopic coral reef teeming with colorful fish. For Jeff Milisen, a marine biologist and photographer in Kona, Hawaii, there is no better place to dive than an open stretch of deep ocean. At night.
“There’s a whole lot of nothing,” he said. “There’s no bottom, no walls, just this space that goes to infinity. And one thing you realize is there are a lot of sea monsters there, but they’re tiny.”
Of course, there are big monsters, too, like sharks. But the creatures Mr. Milisen is referring to are part of a daily movement of larval fish and invertebrates, which rise from the depths to the surface each evening as part of one of the largest migrations of organisms on the planet. The emerging hobby of taking pictures of them is known as blackwater photography.
Most of the larvae are no bigger than a fingernail; others are even smaller. And they can easily be mistaken for bits of seaweed or drifting detritus. But up close, when captured with a camera using a special lens called a macro, the animals can appear to loom as large as wild animals on a safari — a safari on another planet.
Five years ago, Mr. Milisen began sharing his photos in a Facebook group, and there he discovered a community of passionate nighttime adventurers who were capturing images of living things rarely seen before. Perplexed and astonished by what they were photographing, Mr. Milisen and others in the community, called the Blackwater Photo Group, began contacting fish scientists, asking for help in identifying what they were seeing.
Even the most seasoned specialists responded with incredulity.
“The No. 1 thing people, even scientists, ask is: ‘What the hell is that?’” said Ned DeLoach, an experienced underwater photographer, who, with his wife, Anna, and the writer Paul Humann, has published eight books on marine fishes. “Why these images are so spectacular and so popular is they’re so otherworldly. People have never imagined that creatures like this exist, and that has attracted photographers.”
David G. Johnson, curator of fishes at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, was one of the first scientists to be contacted by members of the Facebook group. He said he was immediately smitten by the images.
“You have behavior, colors,” he said. “It really is a great advance in terms of what we can learn about the early life history of fishes.”
As the blackwater hobby has taken off, gaining adherents around the globe, more and more photographers have captured stunning images and videos that reveal a secret world of bizarre, tiny animals that scientists have struggled for decades to better understand. Many of the images have gone viral on social media, and some recently won major underwater photography awards.
Now, scientists like Dr. Johnson want to formalize the collaboration with blackwater photographers.
In a paper published on Tuesday in the journal Ichthyology & Herpetology, scientists from Hawaii, along with Dr. Johnson and others at the Smithsonian, have outlined how they hope to enlist more nighttime underwater photographers, most of whom have no scientific background, to participate in marine research. If the photographers could collect specimens of the tiny animals they photograph, DNA could be extracted and analyzed.

So far, the scientists leading the effort have recruited about a dozen divers, who have collected more than 60 specimens for analysis. More are in the pipeline.
“We’re building a collection that for the first time has a live image,” Dr. Johnson said. “We get the specimen and create a DNA record tied to it.”
He expects scientists with a knack for underwater photography to join the effort as well. Marine researchers hope that examining images of animals photographed in their natural surroundings and pairing those images with data drawn from techniques such as dissection and DNA barcoding will significantly expand the knowledge of how these animals change over time and why they behave as they do. Ideally, the work will also shed light on the mysterious daily migration of creatures, called the diurnal vertical migration, that takes place every night in every ocean around the globe.
The diurnal vertical migration includes trillions of tiny animals, many in the larval stage, that rise from great depths of 1,000 feet or more to just beneath the surface to feed. The journey takes place at night, scientists believe, because it allows the animals to avoid predation by larger fish that locate their prey visually. The baby fish return to the lightless deep before sunrise.
Like many insect species and frogs, most marine fishes and invertebrates look and behave vastly different in their larval stages than they do as adults. The fish larvae are often festooned with flamboyant, streaming appendages to help them navigate the currents or imitate other species such as poisonous jellyfish. Some have enormous eyes and broadcast a rainbow iridescence that would not look out of place beneath a glass counter at Tiffany’s.
Most marine fishes and some ocean invertebrates go through this two-stage life cycle. Scientists believe that the drastic shift in form is a product of evolution and natural selection.
“Larvae and adults are each living in a completely different evolutionary arena,” Dr. Johnson said. “The larvae make their living in the open ocean currents, which is such a different place than where they’re going to settle out, like the sandy bottom, a coral reef or the deep sea.”
The larval stage of many sea creatures transpires in the open ocean, which is difficult to study, and little is known. Almost all of the previous understanding of what these animals look like comes from expeditions that collected them in large conical devices called plankton nets, which are dragged behind research vessels. The technique began over 150 years ago, gaining prominence with the Challenger expedition from 1872 to 1876, organized by the British government. There have since been some major advances in the technology, but the basic technique is largely unchanged.

Plankton nets draw the animals into a large open ring and funnel them into a jarlike device called a cod end. As water is forced into the jar, the animals are easily crushed and usually die before reaching the surface. Many creatures, such as jellyfish, salps and glittery, orb-shaped animals called ctenophores, are so delicate that they are mushed into a gelatinous goo that researchers on boats pull from the jars by the handful. The animals that remain intact are fixed in an alcohol solution, which prevents them from decomposing, but which turns them ghostly white. Often the delicate filaments and fins break off, making it impossible to know how the animals looked and behaved while alive.
“Those filament appendages are extremely important,” said Luiz A. Rocha, a marine biologist and curator of fishes at the California Academy of Sciences who is not involved in the project. He said that they can be used for mimicry, movement or camouflage.
“Because all that information is lost when collected in the nets, the photographs can open up an entirely new research area to understand why they have these features and what they use them for,” he said.
Open water observation of fish larvae is not new, but it was mostly practiced during the day. The technique, called blue water diving, began in the 1980s when a group of California scientists, hoping to overcome the problems with plankton nets, began taking boats out while the sun blazed overhead.
William M. Hamner, a retired ecologist and evolutionary biologist at the University of California, Los Angeles, was a pioneer of blue water diving and developed many techniques to drift and dive in the open ocean that are used today by blackwater divers.
“The fact that we started blue water is simply because no one cared enough about plankton at the time to go to all the effort to observe them in the wild, and I did,” Dr. Hamner said.
In both blue and blackwater diving, scuba divers usually travel far offshore, often 10 miles or more, where the seafloor may lie several thousand feet below. They descend 50 to 100 feet beneath the ocean while clinging to a tether that hangs from a boat or from a buoy on the surface.
In blackwater diving, however, powerful underwater lights are attached to a tether to illuminate the water, often attracting animals, including sharks. The avocation is not for everyone.
“There’s a whole new sensory experience when there’s no top or bottom,” said Ms. DeLoach, one of the photographers. “It’s the closest I think I’ve come to being in outer space.”

For the photographers, capturing an image of something never observed, let alone photographed, before becomes almost an addiction.
“What’s really fascinating is when you send the scientists something and they have no idea what it is,” said Steven Kovacs, a dentist in Palm Beach, Fla., and a frequent contributor to the Facebook group, who has been blackwater diving for five years. “Or it’s the first time being seen. That’s one of the greatest thrills of all.”
The photographers have reason to gloat. Some scientists say the images, paired with DNA from collected larvae, have the potential to revolutionize the study of larval fishes.
“We believe this approach opens a new window for our understanding of these larvae and raises exciting questions for future research,” said Ai Nonaka, a researcher at the Smithsonian and the lead author on the paper.
Dr. Johnson hopes that the project will inspire a new generation of underwater photographers to become citizen scientists and participate in research.
“We’ve been doing this for four to five years, but it’s still new,” said Mr. DeLoach, who began collecting specimens for the Smithsonian with his wife in 2019. “There’s so much that hasn’t been discovered yet. It’s a pretty handy thing to have a specimen in the Smithsonian collection with your name on it.”
Other scientists who study larval fishes are happy to give the photographers their due credit.
“I think that this is one of those special cases in which the underwater photography people actually realized something quite valuable and cool before science did,” said Tom Shlesinger, a marine biologist based in Florida who is a convert to blackwater photography. “It really opened my eyes and mind to the fact that we actually know very little about what’s going on in the sea at night.”

They Detect Gigantic Underground Three-Dimensional Structure near the Earth’s Surface
They Detect Gigantic Underground Three-Dimensional Structure near the Earth’s Surface
Scientists have detected a gigantic structure previously unknown deep within the Earth, under the Pacific Ocean between the core and the Earth’s mantle.
Although it is unknown what this structure is composed of, others have been detected near it, and researchers have also reported that their find provides an opportunity to better understand the intricate processes that have allowed our planet to evolve and change over time. weather.
This finding was possible thanks to the monitoring of the seismic waves that had been obtained in previous events.
As these waves travel through the interior of the Earth, they encounter changes in temperature, different compositions or densities of rocks, which cause their speed to change, bend or disperse, making it possible for the echoes to be detected by seismographs located in various parts. of the world.
By taking into account the measurement of time and the amplitude of the echoes, it can reveal the physical properties of the subsurface and reveal hidden structures , such as the one in the recent find. However, until now the investigation was not decisive and only allowed us to know the underground landscape in a “fragmentary” way.
The research that made the finding possible
To overcome the limitations of the current investigations, a team of geophysicists from the University of Maryland (UMD) analyzed thousands of recordings of seismic waves as they traveled below the Pacific Ocean basin, and they noticed a specific pattern. It was a type of wave called a shear wave named for its “S” shape.
The new way of mapping the Earth’s inner core was developed by taking a leaf from deep space exploration's book

Although these waves are very difficult to detect among all the random noise, the analysis of multiple recordings allowed to identify similarities and patterns in the echoes from the boundary between the molten core and the solid mantle layer above.
The researchers also had computer help, using a machine learning algorithm called Sequencer , which analyzed approximately 7,000 seismograms obtained from hundreds of earthquakes with magnitude 6.5 or greater and that occurred in the Pacific Ocean basin between 1990 and 2018.

This hard work by scientists finally made it possible to “systematically detect seismic echoes.
Doyeon Kim , a postdoctoral fellow in the UMD Department of Geology and the lead author of the paper, said in a statement :
“By looking at thousands of echoes from the central mantle boundary at a time, rather than focusing on a few at a time, as is often the case, we have gained a whole new perspective. This shows us that the core-mantle boundary region has many structures that can produce these echoes, and that was something that we had not realized before because we only had a narrow vision ”.
The researchers found three-dimensional structures near the core-mantle boundary in nearly half of all the waves that were diffracted. The most prominent was a feature located under the volcanic Marquesas Islands of the Pacific Ocean, which are probably the result of a plume root, a volcanic feature that caused the birth of many volcanic islands.
Vedran Lekik , associate professor of geology at UMD and a co-author of the study, said in a statement:
“We found echoes in about 40 percent of all seismic wave paths. That was surprising because we expected them to be rarer, and what that means is that the anomalous structures at the core-mantle boundary are much more widespread than previously thought. “
This research has confirmed the existence of many more subterranean structures than previously thought existed, and also provided important information on how plate tectonics has changed our planet over millions of years.

The Real Men In Black... The Strangest and Spookiest Experiences via Nick Redfern
The Men in Black were elevated to superstar status in 1997 in the hit movie of the same name. Although the Hollywood blockbuster was fiction, the real Men in Black have consistently attempted to silence the witnesses of UFO and paranormal phenomena since the 1950s.
Researcher and author Nick Redfern delves deep into the mysterious world of these mysterious operatives. He reveals their origins and discusses classic cases, previously unknown reports, secret government files, and the many theories that have been presented to explain the mystery.

There are countless supposed alien encounters out there. People have been reporting strange meetings with enigmatic entities for some time, and for the most part they have tended to lean towards the common “Grey Aliens” most known in popular culture, the more animalistic “Reptilians,” and the human-looking, blonde “Nordics,” but the creatures descried in such encounters have really run the range. On occasion there are some very far-out and completely outlandish reports mentioned, and one of these is certainly the tale of the guy who was abducted by alien monoliths.
It was the evening of January 26, 1977, and it had been a pretty good night so far for 19-year old Lee Parish. He went to his girlfriend’s house in the town of Prospect, Kentucky, and when he left at 1 AM he was in good spirits. He got into his car and started his short drive home through farmland and fields as far as the eye could see. As he stared out over the road, the lane lines hypnotically flashing by, he noticed up ahead a very strange object seemingly hovering over the road, emanating a yellowish orange glow. He would later recall getting the feeling that it had “appeared out of nowhere” because the surrounding landscape was totally flat and he hadn’t seen it actually approach. As he got closer, he could see that it appeared to be rectangular, perhaps 10 by 40 feet, but he could not make out much detail because it was so blindingly bright. As he drew nearer still, his car began to experience various electrical malfunctions, his headlights flickering and the radio suddenly going silent. His vision seemed to get hazy and then the object rose into the air and shot off into the night at great speed. He felt as if he were about to lose consciousness, but managed to make it home, where his night would get even weirder.
As soon as he got in the door he knew something was wrong. Although his girlfriend’s house was only a 7-minute drive away, almost an hour had inexplicably passed. Then when his mother saw him she wanted to know what had happened to his eyes, which caused him to look into a mirror to see that they were extremely bloodshot, and he also felt that they were very sore. That night he barely slept, remembering that strange rectangular craft, the missing time, and becoming more and more convinced they were related to the bloodshot eyes. He began to suspect that something very bizarre had happened out on that road, and that his memory of what had happened was perhaps not the whole story. The next morning, he told his mother what had happened, and she was very understanding, even contacting local hypnotist Lawrence Allison, as well as two UFO researchers by the names of Don Elkins and Carla Rueckert. They decided to try to put Parish under and see what sorts of memories they could dredge up, which would turn out to be perhaps odder than any of them had anticipated.
Parish would be hypnotically taken back to the road that evening, explaining what was happening in his head and seeing the bizarre rectangular craft ahead, but things would then take a sharp detour into the truly weird. He said that as he watched it the object had gone from reddish orange, to black, and then to white, so bright it hurt his eyes, and then his car had felt like it was hovering over the pavement. Then suddenly he was not in his car anymore, but rather sitting in a massive circular room with glowing walls. The dimensions of the room were so large that he estimated the room was anomalously larger than the actual object he had seen, and there was a strange movement to it all in the background, as if they were on a boat at sea. The room was completely empty except three extremely outlandish machines or creatures of some sort. One was around 20 feet high, all black and appearing as a monolith or tombstone, the only thing breaking its exterior being a single handless arm with one joint. Another was much smaller, about 6 feet tall, and looked like a pure luminous white cube with another cube on top as a “head” and two arms folded up against its body. The third entity was the smallest, and was a red rectangular square with a wedge-like head and a single arm with no joint. Parish had the distinct feeling that these were sentient beings and that the white one was their leader, although he wasn’t sure why he knew this.
As he sat there in a mix of wonder and fear, the black one and the little red one approached him, with the red one seemingly nervous and afraid of him. The giant black one reached out to touch Parish’s arm and back, sending a sensation of burning cold shooting through him, as well as a vibrating sensation that rocked his body. The small red one also reached out to touch his head, seemingly very wary and afraid, as one might be when reaching out to pet an angry dog, and its touch produced a sharp poking, stinging sensation like a needle. After this, the red one stepped behind the white one, possibly even merging with it, Parish couldn’t tell, and the white one began producing an unpleasant sound that sounded like “a rhythmic scraping sound.” When this sound started, the black one backed away from Parish, after which the white one stepped behind it and the giant monolith vanished, apparently along with the others, leaving the now terrified parish sitting there alone. He now felt almost uncomfortably warm, the cold gone to be replaced by heat, and his limbs were heavy like he was moving underwater. Then in an instant he was sitting back in his car again and the craft was rising into the air to speed off, his radio coming back on again. He likened his appearance in the vehicle to being teleported, one minute he had been in that alien room, and in the car the next.
When asked as to what he thought the aliens had been doing to him, the best he could come up with was that they had been examining him somehow. The UFO researchers were a little unsure what to think of this surreal account, but it was somewhat corroborated when they found a local farmer who claimed that he had seen a large bright light hovering out over the fields on the very same night Parish had had his experience. The researchers also felt that Parish was a simple young man who seemed sincere and not prone to making up stories, and they would conclude that the sighting was worth consideration and further study. We are left to wonder what happened to this guy and what exactly it was he saw. what were these entities and did they ever even really exist at all outside of his own head? It is hard to say, but it is one of the odder alien encounters on record.
A ranch in Mexico has suffered immense and violent losses this winter, and locals reportedly fear that the mythical "Chupacabra" is behind it. The Chupacabra is a cryptid of urban legend not unlike the Bigfoot in the U.S. After 18 sheep were killed at the Santa Lucia ranch, farmers reportedly fear the stories may be true.
The Santa Lucia ranch has lost 18 sheep since Christmas day, according to a report by The Daily Star. It is located in the municipality of Medellin de Bravo in Veracruz, and veterinarians say there are no native predators capable of wreaking this kind of havoc. The bite marks and wounds on the animals were not consistent with coyotes, lynxes or even dogs in the area. Graphic photos published by the Star show the wounds themselves.
The 18 deaths are spread across four separate attacks so far — Dec. 25, Dec. 28, Jan. 12 and Feb. 21. Locals reportedly fell back on fears of a mythical Chupacabra, which goes back decades in local urban legend. In the stories, the Chupacabra — literally "goat sucker" — feeds on livestock, depriving human ranchers of their food source. Trying to intervene in its feeding is even more dangerous, they say.
The first supposed sighting of the Chupacabra was in 1995 in Puerto Rico, but the creature was soon credited with several other livestock killings of the past. The creature has been allegedly sighted all over Central America and the Caribbean, and even as far north as Maine in the U.S. In these instances, it is sometimes conflated with other cryptids like the Jersey Devil, Bigfoot or Dogman.
Speculation about cryptids and cryptozoology is in vogue at the moment, with people on social media excitedly discussing various alleged sightings and up-and-coming theories. Last month, cryptozoology enthusiast Lee Solway launched a new podcast called When Cryptids Call, where listeners are invited to call in and share their stories of encounters.
Some of the accounts from the podcast have gone viral, particularly Colin Keelty's description of the "Dogman." Keelty had no less than five encounters with the creature, seeking it out a times. Stories of the Dogman go back to at least the 1600s in parts of England, and Keelty noted that only 30 percent of the country is urbanized. The rest if farmland or, in many cases, wilderness.
"I like to think these things are real, but I'm open-minded about the supernatural," Keelty said. "I do really think these things move about the country through green belts. I've had loads of stories of factories where there's a green belt out the back and something's gone crashing through, something large that we can't explain — bigger than a deer, massive and black."
A few nights ago I was talking with a friend about the notorious Majestic 12 documents – and the matter of how they entered into the public domain. Whether you buy into the Majestic 12 issue or not (I don’t), the story behind the papers is a fascinating one. Exactly two weeks before Christmas Day 1984, a package appeared on the doorstep of the home of a man named Jaime Shandera. He was a friend and colleague of Bill Moore (co-author with Charles Berlitz of the 1980 book, The Roswell Incident), and someone who was heavily into UFOs, too. The envelope contained camera-film of a document that told the story of a secret group established by the U.S. government, following the Roswell crash of July 1947. It went by various permutations, the most popular in the UFO research arena being Majestic 12. The document showed the government had dead aliens hidden away. Extraterrestrial wreckage had been recovered by the U.S. military. Autopsies on the disturbingly-looking humanoids from far away – with their black eyes, large heads, and skinny bodies – were quickly undertaken. No-one knew what should be done. No-one knew how to keep the public and the press away from the incredible finding. Everything was top secret, as the documentation made very clear. If the documents were the real thing, of course.
Moore and Shandera – and, soon, Stan Friedman, too – quickly got together to scrutinize the material. Such was the perceived deep concern for what they had got a hold of, the trio decided the wisest approach was to say nothing – not a single thing – to anyone. The three continued to quietly research the documents – genuine or faked. Things altered quickly in 1987. That’s when something occurred that was totally out of the hands of the team. It was the last thing they needed. As the investigations into Majestic 12 continued on, rumors began to circulate that an English UFO writer, Timothy Good, had gotten copies of the same papers that Moore, Shandera and Friedman had kept so quiet since 1984. As for how Good got his versions, that’s still a mystery to this day. I should note there are vague claims, though, that Good’s supply came from someone with links to the CIA.
The handover of the papers to Good was said to have occurred in March 1987. Of more concern for the three men in a quandary, however, was not so much who gave Good the documents, but that he was about to have a new book published, Above Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO Cover-Up. Sidgwick & Jackson was the company; a highly respected publishing company with an ability to make Good’s book a big hit. The goal was achieved. The book became a bestseller in the U.K. And guess what? Sidgwick & Jackson just about managed to get the Majestic 12 documents in the pages of Above Top Secret before Good’s book went to print. Two months after Good’s CIA insider provided him the documents, the London Observer newspaper mentioned it. The date of the article was May 31, 1987. Written by Martin Bailey it had the lengthy title of “Close encounters of an alien kind – and now if you’ve read enough about the election, here’s news from another world.”
In no time, Moore, Shandera and Friedman chose to release their copies into the public domain, which is hardly surprising, given that word of the Majestic 12 papers was now starting to trickle and circulate outside of the confines of the trio. This was completely understandable: the three had done all of the groundwork, and the very last thing they wanted now was to be written out of the story – or, at the absolute least, left marginalized and sitting frustratingly on the sidelines. And who should have died in May 1987, just when the Majestic 12 documents were about to surface? The CIA’s James Jesus Angleton, a powerful character said to have been plugged-in to the government’s UFO secrets. Lung-cancer was the cause. Angleton was sixty-nine. Strangely, also in May 1987 a woman named Alice Bradley Sheldon – an employee of the CIA who wrote sci-fi under the alias of James Tiptree – took her life. Her husband’s life, too. Sheldon is believed to have created a faked UFO document – to freak out the Russians – in the 1960s called the “Serpo” documents. It tells a story that mirrors certain portions of the 1977 movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Specifically, the final stages of the movie in which Richard Dreyfuss’ character of Roy Neary is taken away by aliens.
The story directly above shows that questionable UFO documents have been circulating around since the 1980s. Should we view them as hoaxes or of no particular value or importance? Or, are greater agendas at work? That’s a question I’ll answer in another article.

The Kongka Pass or also called Kongka La, is about as remote as it gets. Located within the Himalayan mountain range, the low mountain pass, which meanders through the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, and intrudes into the Chang Chenmo Valley of China. It is a place surrounded by looming snowcapped peaks, deep gullies and valleys, and constantly battered by frigid weather, a place not meant for us. It is a forbidding, uninhabited no man’s land only sparsely roamed by herders, Hindu pilgrims, adventure seekers, and overseen by sporadic military outposts along the craggy border, since the pass has long been disputed and fought over by India and China. It’s sweeping vistas of barren expanses of rocky, jagged land give this place an ambiance and appearance not unlike some alien world, which is perhaps appropriate because the Kongka Pass has come to be known as a hotspot for UFOs and weird alien activity.
For years those who have travelled through the pass have come back with strange stories. Common among these are unidentified lights in the sky, which sometimes do aerial acrobatics, swoop and rise, or even seem to disappear right into the side of the ridge. There are also numerous reports of disorientation, malfunctioning electrical equipment, and lost time, with people reporting suddenly waking up many miles away from where they last remember being. Sightings of UFOs have been reported by people on both sides of the border, with many of these witnesses being military personnel or even leaders, yet considering the harrowing terrain and isolated remoteness there has been little done to actually investigate, and this has led to rumors that the pass holds within it a vast underground warren of tunnels that operates as a UFO base for aliens on Earth. It might just seem like spooky tales orbiting an undeniably beautiful and inhospitable place, but there have been several incidents from the Kongka Pass that stand out.
The Kongka Pass
In 2003, over a dozen Indian troops along the border spotted over several nights floating lights in the sky of the Chinese sky that were anomalous enough that they were reported to their command, but there was no further word about what it could have been from their superiors nor from the Chinese military. Even weirder was an incident that allegedly occurred in 2004 in the Lahaul-Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh, where a group of geologists led by a Dr. Anil Kulkarni, of the ISRO’s Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad, were on an expedition to the Samudra Tapu Valley, one of the most desolate and remote places in the entire region. During the expedition, the team reportedly observed a bizarre robotic humanoid measuring 4 feet tall walking along the rocky landscape about 50 meters away. The scientists observed the strange robot for nearly 40 minutes and even took pictures, before it purportedly suddenly rose into the air to shoot into the sky as soon as they tried to draw closer. The whole thing was witnessed by 14 people, including 6 scientists, who concluded there was no reasonable natural explanation. Nevertheless, their report went unanswered and was quietly swept under the carpet. Interestingly, others have reported seeing small, robotic entities in the pass as well, including one sighting in which the entity seemed to disappear into a hole in the ground, which itself then disappeared as if it had never been there.
There was another high-profile and very bizarre series of events that unfolded in the region in 2012. Between August 1 and October 15 of that year, units of the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force reported over 100 sightings of luminous objects in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, a remote, 86,000 sq. km heavily militarized zone between Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and Chinese-occupied Aksai Chin. The objects were described as luminous yellow orbs, which seemed to lift off from the horizon on the Chinese side and then proceed to move back and forth through the sky before shooting off. Army officials who witnessed the phenomena were certain they were not unmanned aerial vehicles, drones or low earth-orbiting satellites. In September of that year, a mobile ground-based radar unit and a spectrum analyzer was installed at a nearby mountaintop, but even when the objects were seen visually they failed to show up on either radar or in the spectrum analysis. An aircraft was even dispatched to approach one of the objects, but it shot straight upwards and could not be followed. A team of astronomers from the Indian Astronomical Observatory at Hanle also witnessed the objects over a period of three days, and came to the conclusion that they were not planets, meteors, or satellites. The mysterious objects were observed by hundreds of military personnel, officials, and scientists, but have never been conclusively identified.
On top of all of this, Google Earth has uncovered a lot of weird things in the Kongka Pass, such as mysterious openings in the earth that seem to have been bored out with machinery, as well as unregistered military facilities, complexes of buildings, and mysterious structures. It has been claimed that sometimes these images are blurred out on Google Earth not long after being discovered. It is unclear what this has to do with any of the purported UFO activity in the region, but it certainly adds another layer of strangeness to an already strange place. What is going on in this bizarre place? Are these phenomena the result of aliens or something else? One thing that can be said is that if this really is the location of some alien base of operations, with its complete remoteness and disconnect from civilization they could not have picked a better place to go mostly unnoticed.
Secret Antarctica: UFO, Underground Bases and Fallen Angels from the Book Of Enoch
Secret Antarctica: UFO, Underground Bases and Fallen Angels from the Book Of Enoch
Antarctica is most likely the whitest region on earth, with a ridiculous amount of ice that is too harsh humans. Yet, this white mass might be burying some of the darkest mysteries about the world. Every day, more research is being done about this place and what secrets it holds. Antarctica has been home to a lot of mysteries for long. For one, we have the incident of Operation Highjump. It is believed by some that about 250,000 senior officers belonging to the germans managed to escape in U-boats from Germany. Some even believed that Hitler was one of the escapees.
Secret Antarctica UFO, Underground Bases and Fallen Angels from the Book Of Enoch The more Antarctica is examined, the more the mysteries that crop up. An example is the huge electromagnetic anomaly that was detected by NASA satellites in 2006. This anomaly wasn’t lying on the surface either. It was buried deep underneath 151 miles of ice. What a beautiful way to confuse researchers. Over a decade later, they are still left with questions. But then, turning to an ancient scroll dated millennia ago, the Book of Enoch, some interesting passages seemed to have something to say about this. Enoch was the man who was reported to have escaped death.
He was the great great grandfather of Noah. He wrote about how he was taken to the place where the corrupted angels who disobeyed God and came to earth were imprisoned. In his book, he had talked about the 200 fallen angels who had lived among men, teaching men advanced technologies for their time and sleeping with the women and fathering the Nephilim, thereby genetically modifying men and leading mankind astray.
There are numerous reports of odd humanoid beings and aliens that take all manner of shapes and sizes. reports like this are endless, often achieving a status of being completely surreal. One subspecies of humanoid sightings are those entities that seem to float or hover, defying the laws of gravity and even physics, and these have formed a whole are of unexplained phenomena. One such case comes to us from the country of Thailand, where villagers stumbled across a levitating, enigmatic creature that still has not been totally explained.
In the early morning hours of August 31st, 2005, the tiny rural village of Huay Nam Rak, in Chiang Rai province, Thailand, about 488 miles north of Bangkok, seemingly became the destination of an otherworldly visitor. On this morning, over a dozen villagers near one of the many rice fields of the area allegedly witnessed a small, floating humanoid around 30 inches in height, with yellowish skin, huge red eyes, and a large head and ears, a tiny mouth, and with no arms and skinny legs. The entity was first sighted by a man named Sawaeng Bunratchasak, who had been riding his bicycle past the field when he saw the strange humanoid creature hovering through the air. He at first took it to be a scarecrow until it floated high up above the field and seemed to move like a living creature, even seeming to look right at him and nod its head. The startled man then rode off in a panic to tell others of what he saw, and they came running to see it for themselves.
Many people saw the mysterious entity, which purportedly floated around the clearing for over an hour. Some witnesses described it as looking like a child, while others thought it looked somewhat robotic or like an animated doll, since its movements were jerky and unnatural. Still others believed it to be a ghost or spirit, but the main consensus was that it was an alien. It hovered all around the field, apparently under some sort of power, occasionally nodding at the onlookers or looking at them with a pleading look “as if asking for help,” and then suddenly it lifted off to disappear into the sky. Some of the witnesses would describe the entity as sort of stretching out and turning black in color before shooting up into the sky like a rocket, while others said it had gone up into a bright orb of light in the sky. One witness, 35-year old Sawaeng Boonyalak, would say of the creature:
The alien is about 70 cm high and has yellow skin and flat chest. Its mouth is very tiny. It has bald big head with big eyes and big ears. Suddenly, the alien floated to a tree top. After more villagers came to see it, it floated into the sky into the bright light.
When word of the bizarre sighting got out, hundreds of curiosity seekers began flocking in to the field, as well as news crews and reporters, and in the meantime local officials launched an investigation into the matter, which turned up no evidence of the alleged creature. Unfortunately, the poor rural farmers who had seen it did not have cameras, but they were able to make sketches of what they had seen. The police were very skeptical of the whole thing, accusing the witnesses of drinking, but they all insisted that they had been completely sober. In this sleepy village where not much ever happened it created quite a bit of excitement at the time, but a possible mundane explanation would emerge.
One resident of a nearby village by the name of Tongmuan Pochailoet would claim that he had found an old helium filled doll trapped up in a tree earlier that month and had refilled it to hang outside his home as a scarecrow. He said that this doll was 3 feet high and had an oversized head and small limbs. The doll worked a charm in scaring off the birds that threatened his crops, but he would unfortunately lose it during a storm. According to him, that was two days before the sightings at that field, and so he was certain that what was seen must have been his lost helium doll. However, most of the witnesses denied that they could have possibly seen an inanimate floating doll. The creature has been too lifelike and had moved its legs and head, even looking right at them and reacting to them. The entity had also moved about in an intelligent manner on its own power, even against the wind at times, and then there was the way it shot up into the sky, or by some accounts entered a UFO. Those who had seen it were certain that it was no helium doll. They were even more certain when Pochailoet showed them a picture of his doll and every single one of the witnesses said it looked nothing like what they had seen.
What was this strange entity that was witnessed? Was it really nothing more than an inflatable helium doll? If that were the case, how could so many people see it and misidentify it? was it simply the wild imaginings of simple, uneducated villagers? Whatever the case may be, it seems to have caused a minor hysteria at the time, and we are left to wonder just what those people saw out there.
Landlocked Bermuda Triangle: The Mexican Zone of Silence
Landlocked Bermuda Triangle: The Mexican Zone of Silence
Of all the sites that are unexplained, the Bermuda Triangle is usually the first one that comes to mind. Located in the Caribbean, it is renowned for the ships and radio signals that have disappeared without explanation in recent years. Yet, there is another, perhaps lesser known region in which the inexplicable occurs. This location is often referred to quite simply as Mexico's Zone of Silence.
A Land Were Radio Signals Die
Located in the Chihuahuan Desert (not titled such for an unexplained number of dogs), Mexico's Zone of Silence is precisely what it sounds like: a pocket of land in which radio signals die, preventing communication to and from the area, and directionality loses all meaning. According to reports from visitors of the area, which is also known as the Mapimí Silent Zone, if one brings a compass as a backup tool, that person is out of luck—the arrow of the compass will spin uncontrollably, confusing all sense of direction. Consider the spinning compass from Disney's Pocahontas…just without the sage old Grandmother Willow to decipher the compass' meaning.
One of the most prominent investigators of the Zone is a man called Benjamin Palacios, known for his somewhat touristy home and the tours of the Zone he provides to visitors to the region. However, it seems that the mysteries of this site were not always known.
Rumors abound that the Mexican government hid the unexplained occurrences, possibly evidenced by the lack of tourist sites, hotels, etc. nearby the desert. Supposedly the site was only exposed to the public as unusual when an American missile mistakenly crashed in the Zone of Silence. While retrieving the missile, United States agents were exposed to the unexplained.
Supposedly the site was only exposed to the public as unusual when an American Athena RTV test rocket mistakenly crashed in the Zone of Silence.
An article regarding the statement from the US government claims that,
"On July 11, 1970, the United States Air Force launched an ATHENA V-123-D rocket from Green River Launch Complex in Utah. While its intended target was the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, it impacted '180-200 miles south of the Mexican border,' according to a recently released memorandum sent from the desk of Henry Kissinger, then serving as National Security Advisor to President Nixon."
It appears, if this quote is accurate, that a technological error revealed the Zone of Silence as an unexplained, possibly alien, site.
As is the case with most locations described as unexplained, "research" is ongoing to determine what other factors might be playing a role in the strange activity of the site. Reports of plant and animal investigations are plentiful, as well as an examination of the geological make-up of the region.
Zona del Silencio (Zone of Silence) landscape in Mexico.
And, of course, as with all locations in which the words "unexplained" or "inexplicable" are attached to their names, rumors of alien investigations are equally extensive.
It appears that numerous people have reported UFOs in the region, strange lights, and burning bushes, not unlike those described anywhere near Roswell, New Mexico or Area 51. It is also intriguing for theorists to point out the Zone of Silence falls on the same coordinates as the Bermuda Triangle, itself only recently (likely) explained.
Yet, aside from the numerous theories of UFO and alien influence in the Zone's fifty-kilometer (31-mile) radius, the unexplained occurrences might, in fact, have explanations. Scientists have discovered underground deposits of meteorite debris called magnetite. Essentially, magnetics beneath the surface of the desert are what disrupt radio waves and the metal arrow of compasses.
This theory further explains the enigmatic site when one realizes that meteorites striking the Chihuahuan Desert were not uncommon in the 1900s; three have been reported striking the desert between 1938 and 1969. Those that prefer the theory of aliens likely do not hold much stock in the meteorite claims. Perhaps these people prefer to insist on a government cover-up, or an extraterrestrial trick.
Regardless, it appears that the Zone of Silence remains among the list of the unexplained, more than likely because it is far more beneficial for tourist revenue than the title "the Zone of the not-so-unexplained Silence."
'ZOMBIE-GENEN' IN HET BREIN KOMEN NA DE DOOD TOT LEVEN
'ZOMBIE-GENEN' IN HET BREIN KOMEN NA DE DOOD TOT LEVEN
Vivian Lammerse

Ever seen a silent helicopter? An airplane that doesn’t emit any kind of sound? And how about a strange, unidentified craft in the skies that makes not even a bit of noise? Most people haven’t. But, even so, a sizeable number have. And that’s the theme of today’s article. I’ll begin with a case that dates back to the 1990s. The UK’s Salisbury Times newspaper – on August 23, 1994 – reported on a sighting of a strange craft seen not at all from Stonehenge. The staff of the publication wrote: “A green flying saucer hovered beside the A303 road at Deptford last week – according to a lorry driver who rushed to Salisbury police station in the early hours of the morning. The man banged on the station door in Wilton Road at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday after spotting the saucer suspended in mid-air. ‘He was 100 per cent convinced it was a UFO,’ said Inspector Andy Shearing. The man said it was bright green and shaped like a triangle with rounded corners. It also had green and white flashing lights. Other drivers had seen it and were flashing their car lights at him.
A triangle shaped ufo in the evening sky
A patrol car took the driver back to the spot but there was no trace of the flying saucer. Inspector Shearing said police had been alerted about similar sightings in the same area in the past.” Although the Times called the object a “flying saucer,” the description of it being “shaped like a triangle with rounded corners,” sounds very much like a highly-classified aircraft known as the TR-3A. It’s also a near-perfect description of equally unidentified aircraft that have become known within Ufology as “Flying Triangles.” But here’s the most important issue: the witness reported that the object he saw was “suspended in mid-air.” This is particularly fascinating, as there are longstanding rumors that the TR-3A has hovering capabilities. Apparently, the craft has the ability to fly in silence, too, since in this case the vehicle made no sound at all.
In 1995, the U.S. magazine, Aviation Week and Space Technology, published an article (Vol. 142, No. 6) which, in part, stated that, “…the U.S. military has been working for years on at least two helicopter projects. The more recent is [the] development of a light, very quiet helicopter [italics mine] with a mast-mounted sight.” One of those who had uncovered certain, classified data on this particular Nevada-based program was a conspiracy-theorist named Jim Keith, who died in 1999. The issue of the silent helicopters was one which particularly intrigued Keith. After all, helicopters are known for their deep, thump-thump sound. So, to encounter a helicopter that is near-silent – or, perhaps, even completely silent – would be amazing, indeed. In pursuing the tales of the silent copters, Keith found himself repeatedly pointed in the direction of Nevada. By now, you know the specific stretch of Nevada: Area 51. In February of 1995, the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper ran an article titled “Ex-Worker Describes Stealth Copter.” It was written by a journalist named Susan Greene. Commenting on all of this, Keith said: “According to statements of a former worker at Groom Lake Air Force Base, a black budget stealth helicopter was being tested at this facility as early as 1990. The code name for the helicopter was ‘T.E.K,’ which stood for ‘Test and Evaluation Project K.’”
Under the terms of the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, the Defense Intelligence Agency has declassified several hundred pages of documentation on UFOs. Of course, the file does not contain any kind of definitive smoking-gun. It does, however, provide the reader with more than a few intriguing reports on notable incidents. One such incident, described in the DIA’s files, occurred in the summer of 1979. The DIA documentation notes that late on the afternoon of August 8, 1979, “…the Embassy here received information that a strange object had been found on a farm near Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Source stated that the object was about 70 centimeters in diameter and two meters in circumference with a hole in one side and a metal skin covering of approx one-half inch thickness. Later the object was described as ‘about three times the size of a basketball.'” A second fireball fell from the sky early in the morning of the same day that the first one was found near Cotoca. This second one was found 200 kilometers north of the city of Santa Cruz on the farm of Juan Saavedra by the Campesino Gonzalo Menacho Viveras. The place is in the area of Buen Retiro near the Yapacane River. According to the information given by the Campesino, around 12:30 a.m. on Friday last week he heard a loud whistling sound and saw a fireball followed by an explosion. He said that the next eveninga silent aircraft that had three lights was flying over the explosion area.”
In all probability, none of those silent craft were extraterrestrial craft. The likelihood is they were highly-advanced vehicles of scientists and military agencies. In other words, facilities around the world are clandestinely flying craft in our skies that the rest of us know nothing about.

Chipinge man falls off bike after encounter with ‘UFO’
By Tamuka Charakupa
A Chipinge man is recovering in hospital after falling from a motor cycle, having been scared by an instant flash light from an alleged unidentified flying object witnessed in parts of Chipinge and Chimanimani on Friday evening.
Now recovering from a leg injury after being admitted at Chipinge District Hospital on Saturday, 47-year-old Chipinge resident, Richman Myambo is yet to come to terms with what he saw on Friday evening following a strange unidentified flying object.
Myambo fell from a motorbike when he witnessed a strange instant flash light and a deafening sound that followed thereafter.
“I was travelling home on my motorbike at around 9am when I witnessed a strange light travelling in the sky. I tried to concentrate on riding, but what made me fall was the sound that followed after the light. I then fell on the bike due to panic. I thought I was dying.”
Myambo initially thought it was one of those weird moments encountered at night before noticing a rocket-like object.
“I was 100% sober, but I was so confused because I thought I had encountered those strange things people see in dark and thick forests. The object looked like a rocket with fire on its back.”
While authorities are yet to establish whether the unidentified flying object landed or not, the feature has set tongues wagging among Chipinge residents.
Residents claim to have seen a bright light that was followed by a huge blow sound and a shaking, while others describe the event as a collision of two stars.
Meanwhile, the district Meteorological Services Department confirmed that indeed the strange feature was witnessed but they are yet to release an official statement.
