13 Mile Long Crop Circle In The Desert?

Everybody has heard of crop circles, amazing geometrical designs that usually only appear in farmers fields, but this intricate design was discovered in the desert.

 Many people believe crop circles are the work of extra-terrestrials who want to communicate with us, while others claim they are nothing more than elaborate hoaxes.

Sri Yantra, which means “holy instrument”, is an ancient symbol of Hindu tantra, which is based on the Hindu philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism. The Sri Yantra is the object of devotion in Sri Vidya.

 The interesting thing about this “crop circle” is that nothing was discovered on the site: no foot-prints, no tire tracks, and no tool marks.

The lines in total equate to 13.3 miles, and are 10 inches wide by 3 inches deep.

They were carved into extremely hard, compact dirt, and no signs of the removed dirt can be found.

The Sri Yantra formation appeared on August 10, 1990, and was first seen by Air National Guard pilots.

Wasn’t I Special Enough To Be Abducted By Aliens?

My younger brother and I called him ‘the old lizard’ (on account of his reptilian resemblance — and to irk our mother, his partner at the time). To his enemies, he was a crackpot, fraud, and a cheat. And to his patients, and many of his friends, he was a source of support, an open listener, a sage and protector.

Dr John E Mack was many things to many people. A Harvard-trained psychiatrist, tenured professor, and one of the founders of the Cambridge Hospital Department of Psychiatry (a teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard University), John held an impressive command and was respected in his field. After an early career spent working on issues of child development and identity formation, he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1977 for his psychoanalytic biography of Lawrence of Arabia, entitled A Prince of Our Disorder (1976). Then, in the late 1980s, John put his reputation on the line when he started investigating the phenomenon of alien abduction.

It all started innocently enough. He began holding sessions with patients or ‘experiencers’ (as they’re called) who believed they’d been abducted. He ran hypnotic regressions from our home, and he gradually came to furnish enough evidence for a book, Abduction: Human Encounters with Aliens (1994). This was followed in 1999 by Passport to the Cosmos: Human Transformation and Alien Encounters. His standard line with the outside world was (as given to the BBC): ‘I would never say, yes, there are aliens taking people. [But] I would say there is a compelling powerful phenomenon here that I can’t account for in any other way, that’s mysterious… I can’t know what it is but it seems to me that it invites a deeper, further inquiry.’

In the privacy of our home, where he was a regular presence, John was bolder in his claims. Aliens were real — it was just that their existence threatened the dominant logic of our worldview. John attributed society’s failure to account for the abduction experience as a cultural failing. Alien abductees weren’t deranged or mentally ill — we just didn’t have a way of interpreting and understanding what they’d been through. Rather than label these peoples’ experiences as a new disorder or syndrome, John argued that we had to probe into and change our perception of reality to account for this phenomena. The subtext: we had to allow for the existence of aliens.

For more than a decade, from the time I was eight until I was of legal age, I was witness to these debates and to the politics surrounding John’s ‘coming out’ in support of abduction phenomena. My mother, an anthropologist by training, was John’s primary research assistant. They bought a house together in Cambridge, Massachusetts and my brother and I visited them once a month and during school holidays. The rest of the time we lived with my father and stepmother in Arlington, Virginia.

Like many of his colleagues, I viewed John with a mixture of scepticism and intrigue. Part of my scepticism can be put down to the fact that he was dating my mom; but a good fraction of it owed to my sense of reality being overturned by the postulation of ‘greys’ — a particular manifestation of extraterrestrials, known for their large heads, huge almond eyes, and shortened, pretty much featureless bodies.

At eight, and still learning to distinguish between fantasy and reality, the imposition of adults who believed in aliens was confusing and anxiety-provoking, but adventurous and thrilling too. I was fairly sure that Santa Claus wasn’t real. But I wouldn’t have bet my life on it. My stuffed animals and toys had only just lost that animistic quality — becoming mere playthings, instruments of the imagination, as opposed to real creatures with essences all their own. As for aliens, I couldn’t be sure. Flying on airplanes between my parents’ houses I’d sometimes be on the lookout for a hovering metallic orb.

It was 1992 when John entered our lives. Bill Clinton was president, and Kurt Cobain dominated the airwaves. It was the end of the Cold War stand-off, and the political scientist Francis Fukuyama had just published his book The End of History and the Last Man, where he wishfully predicted that human evolution had come to an end with the triumph of Western liberal democracy. Everything was smooth sailing. We no longer had the threat of communists, but we didn’t yet have the threat of terrorists. In need of a symbolic enemy, aliens personified an important ‘other’ — a dystopian warning to our Western culture’s all too eager triumphalism.

On television, the paranormal soon paraded around on shows such as Roswell and The X-Files, which explored extraterrestrial phenomena in the shadow of government cover-ups and conspiracy. Flip channels and you might have caught Arthur C Clarke’s equally other-worldly 26-part series Mysterious Universe . It’s no wonder that the 1990s saw a rush of alien appearances in the popular imagination. The impending millennium brought with it the arrival of a future that had always been distant. As the political scientist Jodi Dean, author of Aliens in America (1998), articulated at the time, the appearance of aliens corresponds to our ‘anxieties over technological development and our growing consciousness of ourselves as a planet and our fears for the future at the millennium’.

There is some truth here. When I asked my mom and John growing up what the aliens intended (subtext: ‘Do they come in peace or should I be really scared?’), they said that many experience’s felt that aliens communicated an environmental message about the urgency of saving the planet.

At the same time, many of the abductees that John interviewed attested to the technological superiority of the alien race. I was told stories about patients who experienced aliens that could pass through walls, were able to communicate with extrasensory perception (ESP) and mind-reading, and perform medical experiments on humans without invasive surgery. In this light, aliens provided an outlet for all our fears of technological domination. To have an experience of aliens was to realise that the human race might not represent the pinnacle of evolution, that we were perhaps inferior to extraterrestrial life.

But as a kid largely ignorant of grander sociological forces, aliens were only one thing: scary. They had large black eyes and androgynous forms. I used to lie in bed and worry that maybe I would be abducted. I would even make supplicating promises of better behaviour in the hope of bartering with these outsiders — ‘I’ll be good, just leave me alone.’ In my secular progressive household, aliens offered a moral disciplining authority, an invisible spectator to police my actions.

After many years elapsed without any sign of extraterrestrial visitation, I began to feel ignored. My fears turned to pangs of dejection: ‘Wasn’t I special?’ ‘Shouldn’t I be a chosen ambassador for the human race?’ Or even: ‘If the aliens were really out to create a master race (as I overheard), didn’t they want my DNA?’

John had many of the same laments. They weren’t the ego bruises of a child in pursuit of some fantastical ambassadorial calling, but they were in the same genre. He felt passed over. He longed for an encounter. He was the public face of this movement and yet he had only secondary experience of the abduction phenomena. Having spent more than 15 years listening to other people’s encounters with these mythical beings, he wanted some evidence beyond the testimonials he gathered from his patients. He wanted to be visited. We all did.

Just as important, a visitation would have answered the growing chorus of critics lining up on the ‘respectable’ side of John’s working life. Many of his colleagues thought he’d gone crazy. He, in turn, felt betrayed by those academic collaborators who failed to support his work. John’s biggest critics called into question his use of hypnosis. In keeping with Freud’s theory of ‘repression’ — which held that the mind can banish traumatic memories to prevent us from experiencing anxiety — much of John’s research invoked the idea of recovered memory, whereby, through hypnosis, you could get a patient to go back into repressed traumas and recall their abduction experiences.

I remember one summer evening in a beach house on Martha’s Vineyard when I was about 11, we all watched as John regressed my aunt back into a past life. She lay on the couch recalling an incident in which she was a forest ranger who witnessed the death of a few people during some kind of avalanche. My aunt later told me that she was fully conscious of the experience, but couldn’t control what she was saying. It was like she was watching herself tell a story. John later tried to hypnotise my brother so that he wouldn’t be afraid of spiders.

Ultimately, the question that plagued memory excavators like John was whether these repressed memories, divulged under hypnosis, were mere ‘artefacts’ of the mind, or else legitimately true recollections. John’s tendency towards a more literal interpretation of his patients’ experiences with aliens was controversial.

In 1994, the dean of Harvard Medical School called a committee of peers to investigate John’s scholarship. This was the first time a tenured professor had ever been subject to an investigation. It was, effectively, an inquisition that some likened to a ‘witch hunt’, and it left John feeling persecuted and misunderstood. John described the investigation as ‘Kafkaesque’. He never quite knew the status of it or the nature of the committee’s complaints. Unable to accuse John of any ethical violation or professional misconduct, its aim was to ask, as Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz put it, ‘whether a Harvard Medical School professor ought to be lending his credibility to stories of space alien abductions’. To Dershowitz, this was a dubious goal. ‘No great university should be in the business of investigating the ideas of its faculty,’ he wrote in the university magazine, in 1995. In the end, the dean reaffirmed John’s academic freedom to study what he wished and to state his opinions without impediment. But the damage had already been done.

As his professional credibility faltered, John’s anxiety and anger began to rise. John cared about his reputation. It was not easy to become persona non grata in the very institutions he had helped to build. He was used to working within established professional systems, and when those very institutions called his integrity into question, he sought out allies in other like-minded people. He grew an entourage of support among shamans, experiencers, and celebrities.

Our household became a living altar to an esoteric band of misfits who were regular houseguests and interlopers. One morning, when I went to get some orange juice from the kitchen, the actor Woody Harrelson was there, drinking coffee with John at the table. It was normal. Normal was also being offered a peace pipe by Sequoia, a Native American shaman who blew tobacco in our youthful faces and challenged us to seek out greater visionary experience.

By 13, however, I was ready to move on. John and my mother were headed to the Australian outback for a year to speak with Aboriginal people about their experiences with aliens. My brother and I were invited to go along: our formal education would be satisfied by distance learning packets, while our real education, as I understood it at the time, was to be some combination of didgeridoo and Aboriginal creation myths. But something inside me desired stability and order. I longed to be absorbed into an antiseptic American culture where lacrosse, school dances and flared blue jeans were ends in themselves; where ordinary reality wasn’t usurped by the fantastical.

My brother and I ultimately opted to stay behind. We stayed living with my father and stepmother, and succumbed to a deliciously comfortable white picket-fence existence (literally, the fence was painted white). We became absorbed in teenage politics and concerns. And the only flying saucers we encountered were Frisbees.

Later on, at college at Brown University, I gave myself licence once again to explore the magical thoughts of my youth, not least the idea that reality was merely a construction. As an adult, it was a less threatening prospect. Rather than induce existential panic, it furnished reputational accolades. I ended up writing a thesis about 17th-century astrology and the fashioning of scientific boundaries. It was an ode to John in some ways. I wanted to understand how ‘science’ became ‘science’. Many of the astrologers of the time were booted out of the emerging scientific establishment — some were even put on trial for instigating civil disorder. It was not unlike John’s own experience, when his psychiatric methods were called into question by the scientific establishment.

Before my thesis was published, John was hit by a drunk driver and killed, in London. It was 2004. Immediately after his death, my mother began receiving phone calls from clairvoyants who claimed to have communicated with John, ‘on the other side’. Before he died, John had begun outlining a manuscript on the power of love, based on the stories of those who had been able to communicate with loved ones after death. It was a surreal experience for my mother to be experiencing such intense grief, while at the same time receiving phone calls from people who had reportedly been in conversation with John after the accident.

After John died, aliens seemed to vanish from household discussion almost entirely. It felt like the public’s interest had also waned. When I asked my mother why the phenomenon had seemed to die down, I was told that the aliens were placing less emphasis on the Western world; that they were more interested in China. And that’s where we left it.

But if I reflect on the impact of my childhood experience, I think it left me with a profound openness, and a generous ear. John taught me the power of listening; really hearing people out and having the courage and resilience to question established orthodoxies. I still remain entirely agnostic about the existence of aliens. I have a commitment to preserving unknowns, and I thrive on ambiguity and complexity in my work and my relationships. John’s legacy has also left me with a certain reverence for misfits, for outliers and challengers of the status quo: for the type of person who walks the line between delusion and insight.

John, too, remains immortalised in my mind as someone with great courage and empathy. I associate him with a period of my childhood wrought with big questions. Bearing witness to the craziness that surrounded those ten years of cosmological exploration left me with a shaky groundwork in which reality was never quite what it seemed, but it also furnished me with a profound sense of awe and wonder about the world.

I feel incredibly grateful for the experience. To be exposed at such a young age to a zeitgeisty obsession with deprogramming, where Western culture was perceived as an enemy of consciousness and truth, was an education that left me with a residual feeling of always being on the outside of mainstream culture. There is a part of me that also looks back with nostalgia for a time when the primary conversation was a probing of the cosmological – when we weren’t all busy on our laptops, stressed about finances, or waiting with bated breath for the next season of Homeland; but were concerned, rather, with ancient and meta-questions about our role in the universe and the existence of life elsewhere.

Date: September 14 1952 Time: afternoon

At a local farm called “Dolores” a farm worker, Caridad Martinez reported seeing a strange winged humanoid descend from the sky and land on a plot a land near where she was working. The strange winged figure approached Martinez and communicated with her in a strange language, which she could not understand, according to her the only word she was able to make out was “Tierra” (Earth). The strange humanoid was carrying on both hands a luminous object which apparently emitted a strange gaseous substance that made Martinez very dizzy and almost semi-conscious. She further described the stranger as having yellowish skin a round face, very tall in stature (over 7ft). The humanoid had a silvery disc-shaped plate which appeared to be attached to the stomach area. The most bizarre fact of the encounter was the huge pair of wings which the humanoid had attached to its shoulders that hung down to the waist area. Using these same wings the strange creature rose back up into the sky and disappeared from sight.

Ever heard then term ” little green men” ? Most don’t know this term actually came from an event that happened in Kentucky. 1955 in Hopkinsville , Ky a strange incident happened. The first time I ever heard of it, I was reading-one of those TimeLife ” Mysteries of the Unknown” books. One of the reasons I find it so interesting (aside from being so close to home) is that the people that reported it never connected it to aliens. Most of what i type here will be purely from memory. There are a few different story’s that vary from one to another, that can be chalked up to time , different people telling their version, and different writers putting their own marks on the story. I will do the best I can to try to get it right, but don’t be surprised if you read something different somewhere else. I urge everyone to do their own research and check it out,, even if you are a skeptic I say, (lighten up and enjoy the story ).

In the fall of 1955 in Hopkinsville ,Ky the Sutton family was settling down to a night like any other. A man named Billy Ray taylor of Pennsylvania was visiting the Sutton’s. He reportedly went out to the well to get some water and saw a light in the sky. Some version of this story say he saw a flying saucer, but he never said that.
they just said they saw some lights in the sky and really never thought anything of it because of nearby Fort Campbell , Ky. they just assumed it was something to do with the military base as it was fairly common to see things in the sky. there were no telephones at the farmhouse and it was kind of out to itself. There were quite a few people in the house including children. The guys were outside when they said they saw this little creature come out of the woods and towards the house. Some versions say they were in the house when they saw a face in the window. No matter the version what happened next was truly awesome, they went in the house and got their guns. The creature kept walking toward the house.When it got close the creature reportedly raised its arms and hands in the air.they described it as being three to four feet high with bat like ears and two large glowing eyes. At the end of its fingers it had long claws.Even though in pop culture they were called “little green men” they were actually white. in an interview I saw with a living witness who as a child when the event happened said ” the family described their skin as being nickel plated” When it raised its hands Billy Ray let off the first shot and he didn’t miss. That part of the story always cracks me up.Only in Kentucky. lol. The creature reportedly did a flip flop from the impact of the bullet then got back up and started walking toward the house again.At this point it was reported that more creatures then came out if the woods from the direction Billy ray said he saw the light he saw earlier go in the direction of. The whole family then raised their guns and fired away, they retreated into the house and the creatures supposedly were looking through the windows. The Suttons shot through the windows, walls , and doors until they didn’t have any ammunition left. They whole family then made for the truck and left the farm house in haste and went straight for the sheriffs department.
Sheriff Russel Greenwell took some duties and went out to the farm house expecting not to see anything. He thought it was just an episode brought on by drinking. He later said that he checked the suttons and could find no evidence of drinking. He went to the house and surveyed the damage from the volley of bullets fired from inside the home. What is interesting is that sheriff Russell Greenwell found a trail and spots of a strange glowing substance going from the house to the trees , and on a fence.

How I wish someone would have taken a sample of this glowing substance. If the story is to be believed then one can only assume it was blood or something from these creatures.I am of the opinion they may not have been creatures at all , but maybe some kind of mechanical/biological surrogate used for space travel. Its just a thought and an opinion. It doesn’t mean much , but it is an interesting thought and would take away the mortality problem of long distances and time spent in space exploration. The most interesting part of the story for me is what sheriff Greenwell reported as lends some credibility to the event actually happening.

They recently did a story on it on a show called “monsters and mysteries in America” . When the Suttons reported the event they never said aliens came out of the sky and attacked their farm house. They thought they were goblins and from earth. Only in later years after the descriptions of aliens and ufos were a little more common was it put together as a possible contact event. It is interesting to think ..what if it was real…what if it did happen..and what if Billy Ray had not opened fire. No matter what your opinion is of the story it is still an interesting and fun story. Toename UFO-activiteit in hoofdstad Peru

De laatste tijd is er sprake van verhoogde UFO-activiteit in de Peruaanse hoofdstad Lima. Het is ook 40 jaar geleden dat een aantal inwoners van de stad naar eigen zeggen contact kreeg met buitenaardse wezens.

Slechts enkele journalisten waren dapper genoeg om erover te schrijven. Eén van hen, J.J. Benítez, raakte zijn baan kwijt en schreef zijn ervaringen op in een boek.

Onlangs heropende de Peruaanse overheid de dienst voor UFO-waarnemingen omdat het aantal onverklaarde waarnemingen de laatste jaren enorm is gestegen. Door nieuwe technologie zoals sociale media en smartphones maken steeds meer mensen opnames van dingen die ze niet kunnen verklaren.

Trend

De overheidsdienst, die in 2001 voor het eerst werd geopend, werd een vijftal jaren geleden gesloten, maar omdat het aantal onverklaarde waarnemingen in de Peruaanse media de laatste jaren erg is gestegen besloot de luchtmacht het departement te heropenen.

Radiozender RPP verspreidde afgelopen maand deze beelden en op 14 december werden in het noorden van Lima UFO’s gezien in de vorm van een rugbybal. Het verkeer raakte enige tijd ontregeld omdat mensen uit hun auto stapten om het fenomeen te aanschouwen.

Wellicht zullen contactees als gevolg van deze trend laten zien dat sommige UFO’s een buitenaardse herkomst hebben. Er gaan veel verhalen rond over wezens van de sterren die onder de grond leven of deel uitmaken van hoogontwikkelde beschavingen.

Het kosmische plan

Zo zijn er verhalen over de ‘Paco Pacuris’, verlichte wezens die in speciale ondergrondse ruimtes leven, en de ‘Ñaupas’, de voorouders die zich in het wit hulden en uit de zee kwamen. In het verleden werden buitenaardsen nog niet zozeer als een bedreiging gezien. Onze nadruk op negativiteit en agressie is zwaar overdreven en niet meer van deze tijd, oppert Giorgio Piacenza van de burgeradviesraad die nauw samenwerkt met de Peruaanse overheidsdienst voor UFO’s.

Sixto Paz, één van de Peruanen die 40 jaar geleden contact kreeg met buitenaardsen, schat dat er zo’n 60 buitenaardse beschavingen zijn die interacteren met de mensheid en de aarde en dat vijf daarvan niet willen dat het oorspronkelijke kosmische plan voor de mensheid zal slagen.

Eerst moeten we ontdekken wie we zijn. Het is tijd om ons meer op onze vrienden te focussen in plaats van op mogelijke vijanden. Laten we zonder angst met ze in contact treden, aldus Piacenza.

Because no one will step up to the plate and take ownership of the video, it can’t be authenticated!

US Congress Holds Meeting On Extraterrestrial life

Witnesses from Nasa and MIT suggest to House committee that scientists may be on verge of breakthrough in search for aliens.

A House committee convened on Wednesday to take up an abiding mystery of the universe: are we Earthlings alone?

After about 90 minutes of testimony, committee chair Lamar Smith of Texas gaveled the hearing to an inconclusive close.

It was not, however, a fruitless outing. In impassioned testimony, witnesses from Nasa, MIT and the Library of Congress described a crossroads in the search for life out there and suggested scientists may be on the verge of a breakthrough.

“This is the first time in human history we have the technological reach to cross the threshold,” said Dr Sara Seager, an MIT professor and 2013 MacArthur “genius grant” recipient.

Her work focuses on the detection of “biosignature” gases on distant planets, large volumes of which might indicate life, whether intelligent life or single-cell bacteria.

 
Seager testified that the James Webb space telescope, scheduled for launch in 2018, and other advances are changing the search for alien life forms.

“If life really is everywhere, we actually have a shot at it,” she said.

Nasa announced last month that its Kepler mission had discovered 3,500 potential planets in the Milky Way galaxy, including 647 thought to be the right distance from stars to support inhabitants.

The Hubble space telescope has detected water in the atmospheres of five planets outside the solar system, according to two studies released this week.

“The chance is very high” of life elsewhere in the universe, Seager said.

“The question is: is there life near here, in our neighborhood of stars? We think the chances are good.”

The witnesses said that sustained funding was needed for scientific research in general and space research in particular.

The latest White House budget calls for $17.7bn for Nasa, a slight decrease from 2012 after deeper cuts in the last decade.

“I know that funding is tough, but it’s the best thing that you can do,” said Dr Mary Voytek, senior scientist for astrobiology at Nasa.

“You’ve pretty much indicated the discovery of life on other planets is inevitable,” observed Bill Posey, Republican of Florida. “It’s just a matter of time and funding.”

Scientists Find Records Of Rare “Earthquake Lights”

They’ve been mistaken for UFOs or dismissed as hallucinations. Now geologists have collected a near-definitive list of a rare but fascinating phenomenon, earthquake lights.

 Certain types of earthquakes in certain areas can set off blazes of light seconds, sometimes days, ahead of the actual quake.

These can manifest themselves as floating balls of light, bluish columns shooting up out of the earth and even reverse lightning, reaching up into the sky from the ground.

A study out Thursday in the journal Seismological Research Letters shows such quakes are tied to a specific type of temblor in areas where certain geological formations occur.

While rare, researchers were able to document 65 examples between 1600 and the present.

Seconds before the 2009 L’Aquila, Italy, earthquake struck, pedestrians saw flames of light 4 inches high flickering above the stone-paved Francesco Crispi Avenue in the town’s historical city center.

In Pisco, Peru, a naval officer saw pale-blue columns of light bursting four times in succession out of the water on Aug. 15, 2007, as an 8.0-magnitude earthquake struck. Security cameras in the city captured images of the lights as well.

On Nov. 12, 1988, a bright purple-pink globe of light moved through the sky along the St. Lawrence River near the city of Quebec, 11 days before a powerful quake.

And on April 18, 1906, blue flames were seen hovering at the base of foothills west of San Francisco just before the great earthquake hit. South of the city, in San Jose, one street was seen to be ablaze with fire in a faint but beautiful rainbow color.

The mechanism that causes the phenomenon occurs only in specific and rare conditions, said Friedemann Freund, a professor of physics at San Jose State University and senior scientist at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif.

Rocks such as basalt and gabbro, created deep in the Earth’s mantle, contain tiny defects in their crystals.

When such rocks are stressed, those defects momentarily generate electrical charges, said Freund, one of the paper’s authors.

“When a powerful seismic wave runs through the ground and hits a layer of such rocks, it compresses the rocks with great pressure and speed, creating conditions under which large amounts of positive and negative electrical charges are generated,” he said.

 These charges can then travel together, allowing them to reach what’s called a plasma state, which can burst out and shoot up into the air.

Another necessary component for earthquake lights to be produced in nature are deep vertical faults in the Earth’s crust, some of which can reach down 60 miles and more. Magmas that solidify to become gabbros or basalts have risen along these faults, forming dikes often tens to hundreds of feet thick.

“We speculate that the dikes act as a funnel, focusing the charges until they become an ionized solid-state plasma,” said Robert Thériault, lead author on the paper and a geologist with the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources in Canada.

“When the plasma bursts out into the air, it produces light,” he said.

Fewer than 0.5% of earthquakes worldwide occur in the right places to create earthquake lights.

The researchers combed through historical documents, many handwritten and some in Latin, dating back centuries.

They also looked at modern scientific papers and surveillance-camera records that recorded earthquake lights in real time.

Earthquake lights are sometimes mistaken for UFOs, Thériault said. In the early 1970s, a Jim Conacher was boating on Tagish Lake in Canada’s Yukon territory with his wife when they saw seven yellow luminous globes on the nearby flank of a mountain.

The nearer orbs slowly drifted up the mountain to join the more distant ones.

Conacher took a photograph of the lights, which made its way to a website listing possible UFO sightings in Canada.

However, when the researchers looked through seismic reports, they found records of the nearby Cross Sound earthquake of July 1, 1973, which measured 6.7 on the Richter scale.

There were also two aftershocks measuring 5.2 and 4.1. Though the exact dating of the trip is uncertain (the boaters have died), the researchers believe the lights appeared just a few hours prior to the initial quake.

Areas that contain these specific grouping of traits include Italy, Greece and the Rhine rift, which stretches between France and Germany, as well as several areas in South America. Researchers believe they exist in China as well.

The lights aren’t common enough in earthquake zones to be used as a warning system, Thériault said. But they have sometimes functioned that way.

Just before Italy’s L’Aquila earthquake, a man in his kitchen saw flashes of brightness outside as intense as daylight.

The light lasted for more than a second. Because he had read a paper about earthquake lights previously, he decided to take his family to a safer structure.

Thériault also knows a geologist in Canada who was living in China in 1976. On July 28 that year, he saw earthquake lights, which prompted him to leave his house.

Soon thereafter, the devastating Tangshan quake hit. It is believed to have killed hundreds of thousands of people. The geologist survived.

The Watchmen: “Men In Black”

One of the most unusual aspects of the UFO mystery is the Men in Black (MIB) phenomenon. It involves the subtle intimidation of UFO witnesses by strange visitors dressed almost entirely in black.

 The recent movie on the subject trivialised the whole issue, but what is the truth concerning MIB?

Is it all just a baseless fantasy or is there really an agency that sends out darkly dressed men to secure peoples silence?

Years of amassed evidence points to a definite trend that is no mere illusion. In the 1950′s a number of witnesses to UFO sightings claimed to have received threatening visits from men attired almost entirely in black.

Typically they would be dressed in black suit and tie with matching trousers, and a black Homburg style hat.

The MIB would arrive in brand new cars, usually, though not exclusively black, which paradoxically would be outdated models, with number plates which later investigation showed had never been issued.

Comporting themselves in a surreal almost ethereal manner the MIB would make thinly veiled threats of an unspecified nature. These were usually to the effect that details of the UFO sighting must remain a secret.

There is no evidence of any threats ever being acted upon, but the residing impression was one of a powerful, almost supernatural visitation with strange peculiarities.

People visited this way have spoken of the MIB having telepathic powers of cognisance- knowing when they were being lied to and when they were being told the truth.

The most disturbing aspect was that the MIB appeared to know intimate family details without there being any logical explanation of how they had come by this knowledge!

 In other words their whole demeanour was as “other worldly” as the UFO phenomenon itself.

Other peculiarities include the fact that MIB, as the name implies are exclusively male, show scant knowledge of current world developments, behave awkwardly as if not altogether sure of their role, or as writer Hilary Evans puts it, as “if they are impersonating human beings”.

Curiously violence forms no part of the MIB’s approach. They may loosely threaten a person with some vague promise of future misfortune, but direct violence is not in their repertoire.

Often their dialogue is stilted and forced, with the hint of an indefinite accent, using laboured syntax that sounds like someone using a language that is not their own.

Much of the menace associated with MIB does not so much concern any physical violence as a mental psychological intimidation that often stays with contactees for some time afterwards.

Critics like to ascribe the phenomenon to a mental aberration, but this ignores the widespread incidence of MIB visits.

They were originally thought of in terms of an “American thing”, something which happened only in the USA.

However MIB visits have been reported in a wide variety of countries, spanning at least three decades.

The identity of the MIB is just as elusive as anything else to do with UFO’s. Governement agencies, the CIA, as well as alien entities have been put forward as answers. But as always the real truth seems as elusive as ever.

Scientists Look Underground For Alien Life

It’s a mouthful: Candidatus Desulforudis audaxviator. Many people may not know how to pronounce that, let alone what it means.

 It’s the name of a life form found deep underground and it was discovered by a team of researchers that included a local scientist.

The bacterium was identified about a decade ago in South Africa, about 2.5 miles underground, said Duane Moser, an associate research professor at the Desert Research Institute, who was in on the find while working for Princeton University.

“It was a big discovery,” he recalled on Friday.

A similar approach used for that discovery could serve as a model to search for evidence of life in extraterrestrial places.

Today, Moser is part of a research team working on a $6.7 million NASA Astrobiology Institute project called Life Underground.

Jan Amend, the principal investigator based at the University of Southern California, leads the team and reached out to Moser.

The team’s scientists have investigated life deep underground and also beneath the sea floor.

This is the first coordinated project that brings together researchers from those two fields with an eye toward creating a model for detecting life on other planets, Moser said.

 Together, they will study microorganisms that live in the Earth’s subsurface biosphere, according to a USC announcement of the grant.

The pitch to NASA for this project was that if there is life on Mars or any other planet, it would most likely be preserved below ground, Amend said.

“We argue that if there is life, or evidence of past life, we would find evidence on the subsurface,” he said.

“Ultimately, what NASA is interested in is extraterrestrial life. If there is life, great. If there’s no life, why not?

But the best planet to study is Earth because we have better access. NASA realizes that we can use Earth as a study site and as a comparable site.”

The team’s work could become a model for collecting evidence of life throughout the solar system, Moser said.

“This is a truly special project,” Moser said. “This had never been done before.”

The team is beginning its second year in a five-year project, Amend said.

“We are just getting things rolling,” Moser said. “I’m proud to be a part of this team. I’m very excited to have this opportunity.”

Before winter ends, Moser will head to South Dakota where the team of researchers will meet at the Sanford Underground Research Facility.

Horizontal drilling, which will be done at 4,850 feet underground, is being conducted at the facility for a separate project. Moser, along with other team scientists, will be there to take samples of what’s extracted.

Staff with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., which works on NASA projects, will also be there to test life-detection equipment on the samples, Moser said.

Those tests will help on future NASA deployments, wherever they may be, he added.

Moser, who is also the field coordinator for NASA’s role in the drilling, will bring samples to his lab at the Desert Research Institute.

He plans to extract DNA from the samples to determine what microbes are present and will also try to grow microbes in a recreated environment.

The other team researchers will do similar work in their own labs.

NASA is interested in knowing more about “life as we know it” and “evidence of life as we don’t know it,” Moser said.

Catherine Schell, spokeswoman for the Desert Research Institute, said some of the work taking place at the institute is known internationally and nationally, but not many local people are aware it’s taking place.

Projects like the one Moser is involved in may raise the general public’s awareness and put Nevada in the spotlight, she said.

“I think that the community will think it’s neat that this kind of level of research is taking place here,” Moser added.

Nasa Spots ‘Potentially Hazardous’ Asteroid

Nasa’s newly reactivated asteroid hunting space telescope has spotted its first potentially hazardous space rock.

The new asteroid is the first discovery by the Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE) since the spacecraft came out of hibernation last year.

The rock, named 2013 YP139, is approximately 27 million miles away from Earth and is estimated to be 0.4 miles in diameter. It’s infrared signature suggests the asteroid is extremely dark, like a piece of coal.

It has also been classified as a potentially hazardous near Earth object as its orbit suggests it could pose a risk.

Nasa believes that the impact of an asteroid any larger than half a mile in diameter could have “worldwide effects”.

The Chelyabinsk meteor which entered Earth’s atmosphere over Russia last year and injured 1,500 people was only 55-65 feet in size.

The 2013 YP139 circles the sun in an elliptical orbit that is tilted to the plane of our solar system.

It is possible that its orbit will bring it as close as 300,000 miles from Earth, slightly more than the distance to the moon.

NEOWISE’s role is to assist NASA’s efforts to identify potentially hazardous near-Earth objects (NEOs).

The spacecraft will also help in characterising previously detected asteroids that may now be considered potential targets for future exploration missions.

During its primary mission, which was to scan the entire sky in infrared light, the spacecraft discovered more than 34,000 asteroids in 2010 and early 2011.

It was then placed into hibernation for 31 months after it had completed its primary mission.

Last year it was reactivated to search specifically for near Earth objects.

Some of the objects about which NEOWISE will be collecting data could become candidates for Nasa’s asteroid initiative, which will be the first mission to identify, capture and relocate an asteroid for astronauts to explore.

Nasa hopes that it will help protect Earth and help achieve their goal of sending humans to an asteroid by 2025.

The observations made by NEOWISE will be sent to the clearing house for solar system bodies to determine the orbit of each asteroid and comet if the object is not known.

Amy Mainzer, the mission’s principal investigator said:

“We are delighted to get back to finding and characterising asteroids and comets, especially those that come into Earth’s neighbourhood,”

“With our infrared sensors that detect heat, we can learn about their sizes and reflectiveness.”

ANOTHER TRIANGLE SPOTTED OVER SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY

JANUARY 20, 2014 ….   SALEM NEW JERSEY

I have worked 12 hour nights for almost 3 years now. I am an avid night sky watcher (meteor showers, planet conjunctions, satellites spotting, comets, I.S.S. passings, etc.), so I am quite familiar with “normal” night sky sightings.  On the night of January 20th 2014, I saw something I’ve never seen before. As I was walking out the back door of my workplace to smoke a cigarette at 11:25 pm EST, I first noticed the moon about 25 degrees off the horizon straight in front of me.  It was the first clear night we’ve had in at least a week. As I was looking at the moon a bright light traveling northeast caught my eye.  This light was traveling pretty much in the same location from my vantage point as the moon so it was easy to see. My first initial thought was that this bright light was the I.S.S., so I ran to my truck 10 feet away and grabbed my binoculars to look at it.  I put my elbows up on my truck so I was steady and found this bright light through my binoculars. What I saw as one solid bright white light with naked eye turned out to be a triangle shaped UFO, with 3 lights.  I could not believe what I was seeing. I watched it for 30-40 seconds as it traveled away from me. 

 The details of this object: the front light of the triangle was a huge solid white light. It did not change color or blink. The back 2 light were the same size but were flashing at random it seems from, white/red/blue.  The elevation was probably a little higher than normal helicopter traffic. Although, since it was dark it was hard to tell.  I saw this thing clear as can be through those lenses. I’m not particularly happy I saw it as everyone I’ve told has laughed at me, thought I was joking around, or just don’t believe me.  But, I stand by my story, I know what I saw.  NOTE: The above image is a rendering.  KENS NOTE: we have investigated numerous triangle sightings over Southern New Jersey.  Salem nuclear plant is located in Salem and its right on the Delaware river.   I feel the Nuclear planet is the reason why we have been receiving these sightings.
