MUFON's mission is the analytical and scientific investigation of the UFO- Phenomenon for the benefit of humanity... Since 02/01/2020 is Pieter ex-president (=voorzitter) of BUFON, but also ex-National Director MUFON / Flanders and the Netherlands. We work together with the French MUFON Reseau MUFON/EUROP.

    Black Magic ‘Invades’ Saudi Arabia

Statistics released by Saudi Ministry of Justice have revealed a worrying increase in incidents of black magic and witchcraft in the Arabian Peninsula country, amid claims it is being practiced by mostly expats.

“We have implemented certain procedures and systems to deal with cases pertaining to sorcery across the Kingdom,” Ahmed Al-Janard, a spokesman at the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (known in Arabic as the “Haia“), told Arab News on Sunday, April 13.

The Haia warning followed the issuance of new statistics by the Ministry of Justice revealing the increase of the phenomenon in the Western province, especially in Makkah and Madinah.

More than 85 percent of witchcraft-related cases registered in Makkah’s courts involve expats, the ministry said.

Several cases of witchcraft were also reported by residents who claim to have personally witnessed jinn in uninhabited flats and buildings.

“I have frequently witnessed jinn attacks,” said Issa, an imam who cures residents affected by the supernatural creatures.

“People come to me saying they had seen a ghost or had experienced strange incidents.”

“The Qur’an states that jinn have the ability to scare people,” he said. “They are supernatural beings that reside in parallel to our world.”

Syed Arif, an expat who recently moved onto the Arbaeen district in Jeddah, recalled a similar experience with the supernatural creatures.

“I had rented out a flat in this area even though the structure of the building was outdated because it was affordable,” he said.

“My younger son started to talk to what we thought was an imaginary friend,” he said.

“He never wanted to leave the house and stayed in his room for hours. We used to hear him laughing and talking to himself all the time.”

“When the situation got worse, we consulted a sheikh, who told us our son plays with a jinn,” he said.

“He had advised us to move houses if the situation continued.”

Ejaz Hamed, a resident in the Rehab district, said that the government has closed off a local building said to be inhabited by jinn, which has not been rented out in years.

Taking a quick reaction to stop the increasing phenomenon, Haia took to social networking sites to spread awareness and close in on sorcerers.

“The Haia recently apprehended a resident in the Eastern Province who was involved in the promotion of witchcraft through his Twitter account,” he said.

“He was caught selling a stone that he claimed has the power to eliminate evil, reduce envoy and foster feelings of love.”

A Jeddah court recently sentenced an Asian Qur’an teacher to a four-year prison term and a hundred lashes, in addition to deportation upon completing his sentence, for practicing witchcraft and contacting potential clients on their mobile phones.

However, many imams confirmed they have encountered true cases themselves.

“There are believers and non-believers among jinn,” said Mohammed Mukhtar, a sheikh.

“Preachers who earn their living by exorcizing spirits should charge affordable fees.”

In Islam, jinn possessing humans and controlling them is a controversial issue. While some scholars see it as a fact, others totally reject it claiming that there is no evidence for this.

Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states that the belief in the jinn possessing humans and exercising control over them is not one of the essential beliefs of Islam.

However, it is true that some of the past scholars (Ibn Taymiyyah and others) have considered it as a fact while others deny this, sheikh Kutty added. – OnIslam

Woman claims she’s Virgin Mary’s cousin 65 times removed

A Westmoreland County woman claims she is the 64th great-granddaughter of Saint Joseph Ben Matthat Arimathaea, who was the paternal uncle to the Virgin Mary.

Mary Beth Webb, of Murrysville, said she began searching her ancestry in 2010 after years of “communicating” with her deceased mother, father and brother. While doing the research on ancestry.com over a two-year period, Webb discovered the connection to Saint Joseph.

Saint Joseph of Arimathaea is written about in the Bible and is credited for providing the tomb in which Jesus Christ’s body was placed following his execution on the cross. Webb’s ancestry page shows the Virgin Mary is her first cousin 65 times removed.

Webb emailed the website to share her discovery, and said a spokesperson replied with skepticism.

“They said, ‘Well, that’s nice, but you probably made a mistake along the way because that’s easy to do,’” Webb said.

The journey into her ancestry began in 1999 when her brother, Donald, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given six months to live. Webb claims she and her cousin began communicating with her parents, who had died years earlier.

“We would ask questions about Heaven, what it was like when you crossed over. I’ve gotten a really detailed account of what happened to my brother when he passed,” Webb said. “I always asked them what it was like, and they said it was beautiful. Imagine the most beautiful place that you can, a beautiful garden.”

Over the years, Webb’s cousin has been the medium for the conversation, and would communicate messages from Webb’s parents to her that included details only those three could know, Webb said, adding there is no way her cousin could have known some of those stories.

Webb wrote notes from all of the encounters and self-published a book on the experiences prior to discovering her lineage.

Webb said she published the book because she wants to share her story with the world and anyone who may be grieving the loss of a loved one. When asked why she didn’t post her story for free on a website so people could access it without paying for a book, Webb said she hadn’t thought of that prior to publishing the book, but said she did create a website after the book was published.

Webb said she understands not everyone will believe her, but she hopes her experiences provide hope for those grief-stricken over a loved one’s death.

“I know a lot of people are skeptical and want proof and all that. I can only share what happened to me and hope they can learn from it,” Webb said. – WTAE

Pilot reports UFO sighting over Caloundra, Queensland

A commercial pilot with more than 30 years’ experience has been left scratching his head over mysterious lights he saw over Caloundra on Good Friday.

The pilot, who does not want to be identified, said he had never seen anything through the cockpit window that compared to the experience.

It has the self-confessed “world’s greatest sceptic” questioning everything he believes about UFOs.

The Pelican Waters man was admiring the sky with friends about 8pm last Friday when they first saw two coloured lights in the sky.

He said they reminded him of Chinese lanterns, rising high into the sky and heading south and then east.

Then a third warm-orange glow appeared and suddenly changed direction, tracked north-east and quickly disappeared. “We were looking for an identifier; a beacon or strobe light but there wasn’t any,” he said.

“I thought it had the characteristics of an object that could fly and I was curious as to what the lights were.” – The Chronicle

Navy’s New Railgun Can Hurl a Shell Over 5,000 MPH

The U.S. Navy is tapping the power of the Force to wage war.

Its latest weapon is an electromagnetic railgun launcher. It uses a form of electromagnetic energy known as the Lorentz force to hurl a 23-pound projectile at speeds exceeding Mach 7. Engineers already have tested this futuristic weapon on land, and the Navy plans to begin sea trials aboard a Joint High Speed Vessel Millinocket in 2016.

“The electromagnetic railgun represents an incredible new offensive capability for the U.S. Navy,” Rear Adm. Bryant Fuller, the Navy’s chief engineer, said in a statement. “This capability will allow us to effectively counter a wide range of threats at a relatively low cost, while keeping our ships and sailors safer by removing the need to carry as many high-explosive weapons.”

The massive railgun that needs just one sailor to operate it relies on the electromagnetic energy of the Lorentz force—the combination of electric and magnetic forces on a point charge—for power.

The Navy likes the weapon for several reasons, not the least of which it has a range of 100 miles and doesn’t require explosive warheads. That makes it far safer for sailors, and cheaper for taxpayers. According to the Navy, each 18-inch projectile costs about $25,000, compared to $500,000 to $1.5 million for conventional missiles.

“[It] will give our adversaries a huge moment of pause to go: ‘Do I even want to go engage a naval ship?’” Rear Admiral Matt Klunder told reporters. “Because you are going to lose. You could throw anything at us, frankly, and the fact that we now can shoot a number of these rounds at a very affordable cost, it’s my opinion that they don’t win.”

The Navy’s been talking about using railguns for the past ten years. The Office of Naval Research launched a prototype program in 2005, with an initial investment of $250 million committed through 2011. The Navy anticipates spending about that much more by 2017.

Of course the Army is interested in having one too, and the Pentagon is in general interested in many aspects of the technology. In July, the Navy will display the electromagnetic railgun prototype at San Diego Naval Base.

“Frankly, we think it might be the right time for them to know what we’ve been doing behind closed doors in a Star Wars fashion,” said Klunder. “It’s now reality. It’s not science fiction. It’s real and you can look at it.” Go to Wired for video.

BREAKING: Flight 370 search team admits it “may have landed somewhere”

    (Before It's News)

    MissingFlightSM

    Osnet Daily

suggested right from the start. The remaining question is who will be held accountable for misleading the public and wasting the collective resources of more then 20 nations in a futile goose chase all over the ocean for the phantom plane which was never there to begin with. The actual whereabouts of Flight 370 remains a mystery so far.

    Daily Mail Online

    • Sources with the search team say the aircraft may have landed somewhere, rather than crashed into the Indian Ocean as previously believed
    • If no debris is found in the next few days the team may shift search focus
    • Fits with alleged sightings of MH370 at the time of disappearance

***************************************************************The fruitless search for the missing Malaysian Airlines jet might have to start all over again from scratch if no clues to its fate are found in coming days, it was claimed today. The international team searching the Indian Ocean for the Boeing 777 are now considering the seemingly impossible scenario of the aircraft having ‘landed’ somewhere, instead of crashing in the southern Indian Ocean.’We may have to regroup soon to look into this possibility if no positive results come back in the next few days,’ sources within the International Investigation Team were quoted as telling the New Straits Times today.

While the sources have not suggested which country the aircraft might have landed – or crashed – in, the possibility that an entirely new search in a different area is in line with suggestions by the Mail weeks ago that alleged sightings of a low-flying aircraft could have located it in a different place than the ocean.

‘The thought of it landing somewhere else is not impossible, as we have not found a single debris that could be linked to MH370,’ sources were quoted as telling the paper.

‘However, the possibility of a specific country hiding the plane when more than 20 nations are searching for it, seems absurd,’ said the sources.

But they admitted that it was difficult to determine if the plane had really ended in the Indian Ocean, despite calculations seeming to point to that direction.

The Mail reported early in the search that fishermen and villagers living in north east Malaysia had filed official statements with police claiming to have seen – or heard – a low-flying aircraft at the time when MH370 lost all contact with ground control.

Their descriptions of a ‘very loud engine’ and headlights like those switched on by an aircraft about to land at night suggested that the aircraft was flying to the west, across jungle, very fast, at a low altitude.

The sources told the government-controlled paper that it was difficult to determine if the plane had really ended in the Indian Ocean, although calculations pointed to that direction.

The Malaysian-led investigation team, along with experts from Inmarsat and the UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch, had to rely on an Inmarsat communications satellite, which did not provide any definite details, including the aircraft’s direction, altitude and speed.

One of the sources told the New Straits Times: ‘A communications satellite is meant for communication…the name is self explanatory.

‘The reason investigators were forced to adopt a new algorithm to calculate the last known location of MH370 was because there was no global positioning system following the aircraft as the transponder went off 45 minutes into the flight.’

The source added that the international team was looking at adding more ships and aircraft to the existing search area in the Indian Ocean – as well as widening the area because there were fears that searchers had been ‘looking for the plane in the wrong place’.

‘We can’t focus on one place too long as the ocean is very big, although the search team has been following the leads received and analysed.

‘It is by luck if we find the wreckage using the Bluefin-21 (the US-owned underwater search vehicle).

‘There is no physical evidence and we are totally depending on scientific calculations since day one, including the pings.’

With the search now into its 45th day, Malaysian authorities are hoping more countries will come forward to share their crucial satellite and radar data.

The paper said it understood that the team had not been receiving as much information from countries as it had hoped.

Suggesting that national security of various countries was involved, the source added: ‘We have mainly been provided with selective data.’

The source said that because the information potentially involved the national security of the country from which it was requested, only partial raw data had been provided, making it difficult for Malaysian authorities to get the full picture.

‘The data involved would be official information, so the (foreign) country cannot simply give it to us on paper or in soft copy – they will select only the ones that can be revealed.’

The Malaysians had asked the US government to view data collected by its secret base, Pine Gap, in the Australian outback.

But the request had been denied, sources said, after the US had said that no contact had been made with MH370.

‘We can’t be forcing them to show us the data, as they had already said there was nothing,’ one source said.

MH370: Radar Detected UFO Before Jet Goes Missing; Malaysian Air Force Head Reportedly Confirms Sightings

    (Before It's News)

    By Lou Ramon Aguila

The search for the ill-fated Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 continues, but to no avail, mysteries still hover over the disappearance of the jet-passenger along with the 239 people on board. More than a month since it vanished, a new theory has emerged that would surely trigger debates about the existence of unidentified flying objects.

Reason.com conducted a poll in the United States and found out that five percent of their respondents believed Flight 370 was abducted by aliens. Several bloggers also indicated a number of UFO sightings around Malaysia before the plane's disappearance.

Alexandra Bruce provided vital information on Forbidden Knowledge TV that would back up the alien abduction theory. According to her report, there were two 'distinct anomalies' spotted on the radar (Flight Radar 24) before it went missing.

    Forbidden Knowledge TV

"Seeing the radar playback of the moments leading up to the plane's disappearance, one may forgive Malaysia Airlines for not being more forward, in this case - because the radar playback is not only baffling, it shows two distinct anomalies, as pointed out by Intrepid citizen-reporter and YouTube popstar, DAHBOO7.

The radar playback depicts dozens of planes in flight over the region at the time. The first peculiarity is seen in the lower left of the screen. A round object appears in the vicinity of Flight 370 (and amid several others), which the radar does not automatically "read" as airplane. Suddenly, this round object take the form of a "plane" on the radar screen and accelerates at a rate of speed that must be at least five times the speed of the surrounding planes, heading eastward, over the South China Sea - and just as suddenly the object stops and appears to hover in place."

UFO blogger also documented a confirmation by Malaysian air force chief Rodzali Daud that military radar received signal from an unidentified flying objects near the location where MH370 reportedly vanished.

"Malaysia's air force chief, Rodzali Daud, said military radar detected an UFO in an area in the northern Malacca Strait at 2:15 a.m. local time on Saturday about an hour after the plane vanished from air traffic control screens," UFO blogger reported.

Search and recovery operation has been ongoing for more than a month, but the mission hasn't gained a significant breakthrough up to now.

    • When: April 18th, 2014
    • Where: East Austin
    • What: Triangle craft or orbs in triangle formation

A few videos were posted to the Texas UFO Sightings Facebook page by Cesar A., a reader – they feature three white orbs hovering in a triangle formation with onlookers gathered below. These are definitely not Chinese lanterns or flares or your typical helicopter or plane. This “triangle craft” (or whatever it is!) is eerily similar to the one spotted in Austin during ACL last year.

Here’s a screen shot from the video, you can see a crowd below:

Do you have an exaggerated startle reflex?

Rather than blatant landings of alien craft on your front lawn (or the White House's front lawn), the alien human abduction experience is subtle and ineffable, interdimensional and elusive and predominates when we are asleep in R.E.M.s.

The images recalled as 'dreams' are, in truth, alien- imposed  scenarios, 'tests' that are so uniform from one abductee to the next they that seem as almost stock footage in that so many similarities abound.

The residual post trauma of abductions resolves into a disease syndrome, containing many of the above emergent symptoms as clear indicators.

Director of CIA, Admiral R.H. Hillenkoetter: "It is time for the truth to be brought out in open Congressional hearings. Behind the scenes, high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense. To hide the facts, the Air Force has silenced its personnel." p. 58, quoted from New York Times, February 28, 1960, p. L30

Abductions and their remnant elusive memories have opened all this for Paul, a confirmed atheist, UNTIL Paul saw aliens float him out of his body, in his bed, at night.

Then, he knew that they were interested in an essence that he never suspected that he had, a nonphysical soul.

Our spiritual powers that interest and addict interdimensionals are the very powers that can be used to thwart further attacks.

They infect auras with attachments to themselves and ride the reincarnation roller coaster with human beings, as a sanctuary, to avoid the death that they fear and to steal the spiritual recycling that we have.

Souls are garnered, detoured from our natural spiritual evolution in Heaven.

These joyriding grays can be sinister, discorporate alien souls, stuck to our energies, who bring a new meaning to the concept of a silent invasion.

Nibiru – The Wondering Planet – Age of Secrets

    (Before It's News)

A lot of you who were visitors to my old site know that the site mainly revolved around Zecharia’s Sitchin’s theory. For those people who don’t know, Sitchin is among very few people today who’s able to read some of the oldest written languages from our earliest civilizations. He has devoted his life to not only the study of ancient languages, but also their art, their culture, their beliefs, and the knowledge that they had. In 1976 he wrote a book called The 12th Planet, the first in a series of books he called The Earth Chronicles. His basic conclusions were that our planet has been visited by a race of beings in the past, which the Ancient Sumerians called Anunnaki (translated: Those Who From Heaven to Earth Came) and that these beings came from a planet the Sumerians called Nibiru (translated: Planet of the Crossing); a planet which, according to Sitchin, has a very long elliptical orbit and comes into our Solar System every 3600 years.

    Is Sitchin Wrong?
I know there are a lot of people out there who are very skeptical of Sitchin’s theories and I am also aware of the several videos that are on the web debunking his claims. So is Sitchin right or is he wrong? I have learned a lot since I wrote those articles on my last site and I can tell you that although Zecharia Sitchin does an amazing job researching our ancient history, I do believe that his theories are flawed. However, I do not believe that he is out there making all this stuff up just to sell books, as some people would have you believe. I don’t think that he is intentionally lying to people and I think that whatever he claims on his books, that’s what he believes. Just to be clear, I do not think that Sitchin is necessarily wrong with his theory of a tenth planet (Planet X/Nibiru) coming into our Solar System every 3600 years (contrary to what other people say this is actually possible), all I’m saying is that his overall theory does have some flaws.

Why I Think Sitchin’s Theory is Plausible and Why I’m Skeptical
We’ve all heard of the ancient myths and folklores, these seemingly unworldy stories which originated from our ancient ancestors. Sitchin suggests that these stories, which scholars dismiss as imagined myths, were actually retained memories of actual events that happened a long time ago in our ancient past and I agree with him on this (I will have more on this topic later).

Sitchin claims that the Ancient Sumerians knew of a tenth planet (Planet X) that enters our solar system every 3600 years. People say that this is impossible with any planet but consider this, our sun will eventually burn out, it won’t happen anytime soon, in fact they say it’ll take millions of years before our sun expands into a Red Giant and millions more years and it becomes a White Dwarf. After that then the sun shuts off, when that happens, the planets revolving around the sun including Earth will go flying off into space because the only thing keeping the planets in orbit around the sun is the gravitional pull of the sun. So the planets go flying off into space and eventually, if they come close to another star or another solar system then they would get sucked in because of the gravitational pull of that solar system. On its way into this new solar system, since it doesn’t have a set orbit, this planet could possibly collide with another planet and cause some damage and maybe break it into pieces (like the Asteroid Belt?) and on its way in it might even graze some planets in that solar system causing it to have a retrograde rotation (like Uranus?). It is very likely that this was the case with our own solar system, that some intruder planet who got thrown off from its own solar system got sucked into ours and caused all these anomalies to our solar system. Our moon has thousands of impact craters that were caused by asteroids, comets, and meteors, and the moon is a relatively small celestial body and asteroids and meteors only caused impact craters on it, now imagine the size of the object that caused the Asteroid Belt to break into pieces; it could not have been an asteroid, a comet or a meteor, it must have been something a lot bigger – like a planet. This is basically what Sitchin’s theory is.

A common question that arises is that how can the beings on that planet survive this long eliptical orbit that takes several thousand years, wouldn’t they die from the lack of sunlight since they spend an extended period of time far away from the sun? According to Sitchin, one of the main reasons that the Anunnaki had colonized Earth was so that they could mine gold which they would use to repair their atmosphere. Apparently what they did was that they put gold particles in their atmosphere to prevent the loss of heat due to their dwindling atmosphere. It is very interesting to see an article like this on telegraph.co.uk website:link to article that talks about the Obama administration’s science adviser putting forth some ideas to to cool the Earth’s air. This is a quote from the article:

John Holdren said that the idea of geo-engineering the climate is being discussed. Options include cloud-seeding and shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays.

Keep in mind that it was in the 70′s that Sitchin wrote in his book about this race of beings that shot gold particles up in their atmosphere as a solution to some of the climate problems they were facing in their home planet, and just now, during the Obama administration are they discussing shooting pollution particles into our own atmosphere to deal with climate change. Are we headed towards the technology of the Ancient Sumerian gods, the Anunnaki? If this is indeed what we end up doing with our atmosphere in the future then this seems to support what Sitchin has been saying in his books, that an advanced civilization did in fact experience a problem with their planet that we as a civilization are just starting to see ourselves today, and that their solution was to tinker with their atmosphere ultimately utilizing gold, which maybe in the future we, too, might do?

binary starAlso, a lot of people don’t know this, but the majority of the stars in our galaxy are binary stars and some even have more than two stars which are called multiple star systems.
A binary star system means that there are two stars orbiting around their common center of mass. Hypothetically, if both those stars had a planet which had life in it, then that means that those two planets harboring life only saw each other every several thousand years. This of course depends on the size of the orbits of their suns, which presumably would be at least thousands of years. So the idea of the Anunnaki, coming back to our planet every 3600 years is not that wild of an idea if you consider this. There are actually some people who are suggesting that our Solar System might actually be a part of a binary star system. Andy Lloyd wrote a book called The Dark Star, and in it he puts forward the idea of our Sun possibly having a companion star that is a brown dwarf star. He says that this brown dwarf could be Nibiru, or that maybe Nibiru could be orbiting around this brown dwarf. In his books, Sitchin says that the Babylonians changed Nibiru’s name to Marduk in the Ancient Babylonian texts, could it be that the Babylonians never really changed Nibiru’s name but instead was referring to the star as Marduk and Nibiru was the planet orbitting this brown dwarf star? Andy Lloyd’s theory is very interesting and he has done a great job researching this topic, and if you think about it, his theory is actually more plausible than Sitchin’s. He recently did an interview with Project Camelot and you can watch it on youtube. Click here to see the interview. To anyone interested in the whole Planet X topic, you definitely need to check out that Project Camelot interview with Andy Lloyd.

As you can see, it is not at all beyond the realms of possiblity that Sitchin’s interpretation of the ancient texts could be right, it is certainly plausible. So why am I skeptical? I have learned a lot since I’ve read Sitchin’s books. I have been researching other people’s work other than Sitchin’s and the problem I have with Sitchin is that he has this narrative and whatever he discovers in his research he sort of tries to fit it with his narrative about the Anunnaki and planet Nibiru. One of the main pillars of his theory is that he claims that the seven planets found in several ancient cuneiform tablets represents our planet Earth. He claims that is how the Anunnaki viewed our planet as their planet came in from outside our solar system so they saw us as the seventh planet from the outermost planet (Pluto) and therefore, he says that the seven circles symbolized Earth. This is one of the main pillars of his theory and I found out that this is not true. The seven planets is not a symbol for Earth instead it symbolizes another group of seven celestial objects. And this is probably the most important symbol in the ancient world as I have found out, and if you do not understand this and you don’t know about this, then you are missing a crucial piece to the whole Ancient puzzle.

A man reported being contacted by a race of intelligent beings for a period of 6 months. He reported that they were very similar to humans with the exception some had only one nostril opening. He also mentioned four races of beings. Some that were pigmy like, others were tall etheric looking giants (7 feet or more). They all had their ancestral specialty, working symbiotically to support the whole community. He was also told that they resided in four specific regions in the Hollow Earth. Near the inner equator, he was shown that gravity was at its lowest there. They could jump as high as 20feet or more, floating gently back to the inner Earth. He noted that none ate the flesh of animals, eating was a minimal occurrence. They apparently did not require the level of food sustenance as humans do. Partly because of their efficiency of how they think. He was also led to believe that their INNER SUN also provided nutrients through the absorption through the retinas.
Hollow Earth inhabitants have that spectrum of light available all the time. On the surface we must wait for the sunrise or the sunset to gaze and obtain nutrients. Which explains why over millennia beings become etheric (transparent) their whole body absorbs raw full spectrum light energy; eating “food” is no longer necessary. Food is nothing more than a dense form of light at specific wavelengths. The Sun is full spectrum light. They also revealed that their means of propulsion was through what we call “magnetism” with the exception they utilized it in a way that redefined gravity as we know it.
There were other forms of travel ranging in different spectrums of light. Light is far more complex that we could possibly understand at this time in our evolution of science. Our Sun communicates with the Inner Sun and all the Suns in the Universe instantaneously in every moment. Music is a rich part of their culture, the witness described what looked like a guitar with strings, but it wasn’t plucked with a pick or finger, instead it was a shiny sphere when brought into close proximity to the strings, the sound was like that of a hundred crystal bowls playing in unison. (The witness passed away in October 2003 at the age of 64).

Injured alien asks for water, South Africa, 1951

For more high strange visit www.churchofmabusradio.com

Location: Near Paarl Cape Town, South Africa
    Date: Spring 1951 Time: 2315

    H. M. a British instrumentation engineer, had driven part way up a mountain called the Drakensteen, 7 miles from Paarl, and was just turning back when a man appeared, waving his arm to stop the car, and asked “Have you any water?” H M had none. “You see, we need water!” he said. H M offered to take him to a stream; the man asked if it was far away, and on hearing it was only ¼ mile, got into the car. H M offered an oilcan as container for the water, “That will be all right,” said the man. When they got back, the man pointed toward the mountain, into the area darkened by its shadow, saying, “There, please, there!” So H M drove into the shadows, and discovered, about 100 yards from the road, a lenticular object with squarish windows around its circumference, standing on 2 broad feet. It was 35-50 ft in diameter & about 13 ft high. Between the supports legs a flight of steps led up to a lighted opening. µ

The man then invited the dumbfounded H M to enter the UFO, and with a “friendly gesture” persuaded him to do so. Standing in the doorway, he saw that a circular bench, or couch, ran all around the circumference; in the center was an array of about 8 3 ft hand levers projecting from a rectangular aperture in the floor, each ending in a sort of “fork” like that of an old hand brake, and beyond these was an object shaped something like an upright piano perhaps an “instrument panel,” though no dials or instruments were visible. The white light came from no visible source. In the UFO were 4 more men, one of whom was lying on the couch; H M’s companion explained that he “had got burnt in a slight accident.” H M was not permitted to approach him. All the men were short, 5-5’3” tall, and wore belted beige laboratory gowns extending below the knees, with trousers and shoes visible below. They totally ignored the witness. H M’s companion gave them water; on being asked if they needed a doctor, he said no. The he asked if H M had any questions about the craft. H M asked where the engines where; he replied “We don’t have any engines.” Pointing at the levers, he said “We nullify gravity; that is how we rise.” Asked how this was done, he answered that they used “a very heavy fluid” which circulated in a tube at near light velocity, creating a magnet. H M said such a speed was impossible. “No, it is simple,” he replied, “when the fluid is leaving the tube, it is already entering the other end, thus its relative speed is infinite.” H M asked where they came from; he pointed at the sky and said “From there;” to more specific questions he would not reply.

After 15-20 minutes of conversation, the man pointed toward the door and invited H M to leave, which he did. About 45 minutes had elapsed since the man had first accosted him. The next day he went back to the spot, and found some “very strange marks.” H M’s interlocutor seemed older than the others, perhaps over 40. The men’s bodies and faces were normal (perhaps with somewhat pronounced foreheads), their hair short and chestnut colored, none showing any traces of beard growth. Their hands seemed delicate, like women’s. The witness told this story to the investigator in 1977, while in Spain, doing work for a Spanish firm. He had never divulged it before.

Hunt for alien spacecraft begins, as planet-spotting scientist Geoff Marcy gets funding

    Artist rendering of alien spaceship

    Artist rendering of alien spaceship

In the field of planet hunting, Geoff Marcy is a star. After all, the astronomer at the University of California at Berkeley found nearly three-quarters of the first 100 planets discovered outside our solar system. But with the hobbled planet-hunting Kepler telescope having just about reached the end of its useful life and reams of data from the mission still left uninvestigated, Marcy began looking in June for more than just new planets. He's sifting through the data to find alien spacecraft passing in front of distant stars.

He's not kidding - and now he has the funding to do it.

Last fall, the Templeton Foundation, a philanthropic organisation dedicated to investigating what it calls the "big questions" - which, unsurprisingly, include "Are we alone?" - awarded Marcy $US200,000 to pursue his search for alien civilisations.

What astronomer Geoff Marcy doesn't hope to find: A Death Star

What astronomer Geoff Marcy doesn't hope to find: A Death Star

As far as Marcy, an official NASA researcher for the Kepler mission, is concerned, that question has a clear answer: "The universe is simply too large for there not to be another intelligent civilisation out there. Really, the proper question is: 'How far away is our nearest intelligent neighbour?' They could be 10 light-years, 100 light-years, a million light-years or more. We have no idea."

To answer that question Marcy has begun to sift through the Kepler data and to search the heavens for a galactic laser Internet that might be in use somewhere out there. (More on that in a bit.)

Launched in 2009, Kepler was designed as a four-year mission to detect planets - habitable or otherwise - around distant stars by measuring the dimming of those stars as orbiting bodies pass in front of them. In May, a component of the spacecraft designed to keep it pointing precisely failed, dealing a crushing blow to Marcy and his colleagues who last year convinced NASA to extend funding for the mission into 2016, which Marcy says would have allowed researchers to further refine the number of known Earthlike planets in our galactic neighbourhood.

"It's a heartbreaker," he says. "People are reacting a little bit as if a close family member died. There's this combination of severe depression and confusion, coupled with denial."

    Successful so far

Kepler has been wildly successful in its four years. To date, it has found 132 exoplanets - that is, planets outside our solar system - and possibly 3216 more that await confirmation. Researchers have extrapolated from Kepler data that our Milky Way galaxy alone contains at least 100 billion exoplanets, as many planets as there are stars. Still, with the telescope - which is 40 million miles from Earth - having collected data on 150,000 star systems, researchers are only beginning to pick through all the information.

Marcy hopes that hiding within it will be hints about intelligent life abroad. What if, say, the dimming of a star that Kepler observes is caused by something even more fanciful than the passage of extrasolar planets? Something synthetic, perhaps? Marcy admits that even he's not certain what he's looking for.

"I do know that if I saw a star that winked out, then at some point it winked back on again, then winked out for a long, long time and then blinked on again, that that would be so weird," he says. "Obviously that wouldn't constitute the detection of an advanced civilisation yet, but it would at least alert us that follow-up observations are warranted."

Such an irregular pattern might signal the leisurely and unpredictable passage of massive spacecraft in front of the star. But, perhaps more likely, it might indicate the presence of a Dyson sphere, a mainstay of science fiction first proposed by physicist Freeman Dyson in 1960.

The concept is simple. The energy needs of a civilisation a thousand or a million years more advanced than our own would probably be vastly greater than those of even the most profligate earthlings. The greatest source of energy in a solar system is its star, and that energy could be captured by building a massive structure tiled with solar panels enveloping the star - the ultimate green jobs initiative.

Under the second law of thermodynamics, the structure would produce incredible amounts of waste heat in the form of infrared radiation. In September, a Penn State team led by astrophysics professor Jason Wright began searching the sky for just that by combing through data from NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE. The Penn State work is also being funded by Templeton.

If Dyson spheres pop up in the data, Marcy thinks they would more likely appear as a patchwork of solar panels rather than a solid sphere. Perhaps the dimming of a star would be erratic or quasi-periodic, unlike the regular transit of planets.

To detect such aberrant dimming patterns, Marcy's Templeton grant is funding the salary of a Berkeley student to write software that will chew through the Kepler data."Writing the computer code is not easy," Marcy says. "There's no prescription in any computer science book about how to search for aliens."

    Galactic laser internet

The rest of the $200,000 grant is buying Marcy time on the Keck Observatory in Hawaii, the largest telescope in the world, to search for - what else? - a galactic laser internet.

While the movie Contact, based on Carl Sagan's book of the same name, popularised the idea of aliens dozens of light-years away picking up an old telecast of the 1936 Berlin Olympics that was unintentionally transmitted into space, our civilisation has become quieter to any outside observers in recent decades. As our civilisation makes the jump from analog to digital, communication is increasingly carried by fibre-optic cables and relatively weak mobile phone repeaters rather than powerful broadcast transmitters. Rather than spilling out messy radio transmissions, Marcy posits that alien civilisations would use something much more precise and efficient than radio waves to stay connected, and lasers fit the bill. At the Keck Observatory, he hopes to spy an errant beam flashing from a distant star system, an observation that would be strikingly obvious on a spectrum.

This shift to new ways for finding E.T. is in part due to the failure of traditional SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) to pick up radio signals from deep space. Federal funding for SETI projects ended in 1995, but private benefactors have stepped up to support the search for alien radio transmissions, including Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who has sunk more than $US30 million into a giant radio telescope array now under construction northeast of San Francisco.

Nevertheless, the silence underscores the question once posed by Nobel prize-winning physicist Enrico Fermi: If intelligent life is common in the galaxy, "where is everybody?"

Marcy admits that this so-called "Fermi paradox" poses a powerful counterargument to the prospect of success for any search for extraterrestrial intelligence. But what if, even if the chances are vanishingly remote, he is successful? More disturbingly, what if (as some respected physicists fear) he finds a Death Star?

"The first thing we do is transmit a message to them that says, 'We taste bad.' "

Alien Life? Astronomers Predict Contact by 2025

Alien Life Astronomers Predict Contact by 2025

Earthlings could make contact with extraterrestrial beings by the year 2025, two astronomers predict in a new book.

The authors say it's unlikely space aliens look like Hollywood's ET—little, green, and hairless—and that while aliens are highly unlikely to pay Earth a visit, they may be sending radio signals across space to let us know they exi

The book, Cosmic Company, "is an explication of why we think they're out there, how we're looking for them, what they must be like, and a little bit of what it might mean" to find life on other planets, said co-author Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI) in Mountain View, California.

The institute conducts research in astronomy, the planetary sciences, and evolution. Past research projects have been funded by NASA, the National Science Foundation, and numerous universities and foundations.

    Beyond Our Galaxy

Shostak and co-author Alexandra Barnett, an astronomer and executive director of the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland, California, base their predictions on a number of factors.

They include the billions of years in which extraterrestrial life could have evolved and the abundance of planets and stars elsewhere in the universe that are likely to mimic environmental conditions found on Earth.

"It's a matter of statistics, really," said Barnett. "Depending on who you talk to, the universe is 12 to 15 billion years old. Humans have only been around for 40,000 years. We really are the new kids on the block. It would just be too tough a pill to swallow to believe that nothing else has evolved in all that time and space."

The universe is indeed vast. In 1924 astronomer Edwin Hubble showed that there are galaxies beyond our own. "More than a half century later, the Hubble telescope has shown that there are at least 100 billion such galaxies," said Shostak. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is home to at least 100 billion stars.

Planets are also plentiful. Since 1995, when the first Jupiter-sized planet outside of our solar system was found, astronomers have been able to identify about 100 more planets, all of them around 300 times more massive than Earth.

"Planets really are as common as phone poles," said Shostak. "Right now, we know that there are planets out there [orbiting] ten or twenty percent of the stars we look at. So far, only huge planets have been found, but it would be a big surprise if there were only big ones. I don't think anyone expects that to be the case."

Until now, the search for intelligent life has been somewhat hampered by inadequate technology—too few stars surveyed at too low a sensitivity by Earth and space-based telescopes.

But in 2007, NASA will launch the Kepler Mission, a satellite probe able to detect smaller planets the size of Mercury, Mars, or the Earth. The mission is specifically designed to look for planets in what scientists consider the habitable zone: the distance from a star where liquid water can exist on the planet's surface.

Projects like the Kepler Mission and the new Allen Telescope Array, located near Mount Lassen, California, which will enable astronomers to survey 100,000 stars by 2015, should increase the odds of finding a radio signal broadcast by alien life, say the astronomer

"The bottom line is that there is an enormous amount of real estate, and there doesn't seem to be anything particularly special about our neighborhood. The star that's our sun is nothing special. The Earth is just a rock," said Shostak. "To think anything else is to once again put ourselves at the center of the universe, and scientists are very [wary] of doing that. We've done it before and been proven wrong."

    Searching for Intelligent Life

The building blocks of life on Earth—complex organic compounds and amino acids—are abundant in the universe and can be found in meteorites, comets, and interstellar gas and dust.

"There's a growing realization that there may be some other biology in our solar system," said Shostak. "There are deep oceans on the moons of Jupiter, and some evidence that Mars in its early days really should have had some life. So if there are two or maybe even three instances in this solar system alone, where life could have emerged, it's not unreasonable to consider that similar situations arose in other solar systems."

Of course, there is a difference between life and intelligent life, and scientists disagree about the likelihood of intelligence evolving on another planet.

Some believe that it takes very special conditions for intelligence to evolve. The late Stephen Jay Gould, the preeminent Harvard University evolutionary biologist and paleontologist, wrote that the creation of intelligence was a freak occurrence, requiring a number of specific events to occur that could never be replicated again.

Shostak and Barnett believe differently. They argue that there are evolutionary mechanisms that encourage intelligence, particularly among social beings.

"For instance, if you can intuit the actions of the males next to you—they're about to steal your food or your mate, say—then you're going to have increased breeding success, so the next generation is going to have more ability to live in a social environment," said Shostak. "This is very general behavior—it's not miraculous—you see it in the great apes, of course, but you also see it in dolphins, whales."

    "JO Alien"

As to what an intelligent alien life-form might look like should such a thing exist, it's anyone's guess. Shostak and Barnett created "JO Alien," an animated character for a planetarium show at the National Space Centre in Leicester, England, to explore the question.

"It's the poster child of aliens," said Shostak. "A very conventional kind of alien—grey and smooth and humanoid—very anthropomorphic. Not what we really expect."

However, the genderless JO does demonstrate some of the basic principles of physics and engineering that might dictate what another life-form might look like.

"An alien would probably have to be bigger than a rat because rats have quite small brains, and an intelligent life-form would need a bigger brain," said Barnett. "So bigger than a cat, but not bigger than an elephant because there are limitations on how much weight a body can support."

JO Alien has two eyes, based on the assumption that an alien life-form would be found on a planet circling a star. Everything on Earth that lives in light has developed eyes. Why two instead of one? Two gives you the evolutionary advantage of being better able to catch your next meal, said Barnett. Why not ten eyes? It would take an enormous amount of brain-power to process all the signals, she said, with little or no extra benefit.

As far as limbs are concerned, the pair speculate that an extraterrestrial would have more than one, particularly if it's building radio telescopes, but a score would be a stretch. Again, it would require a great deal of brain-power to coordinate all 20, Barnett said.

Given the enormous distances between the stars, measured in terms of trillions of miles, Shostak doesn't expect a visit.

"There's a tremendous amount of interest in alien life, mostly from the point of view that we've been visited," he said. "I don't believe that, and I don't think most scientists do. What we'd most like to convey is that there's a possibility they exist even if they haven't visited, and we're searching for them."

Could we find alien civilizations using infrared light

Instead of listening for radio signals, a group of astronomers is proposing that we search for extraterrestrials by detecting their planet’s exaggerated heat signatures — signatures that could be detected in the infrared. But to do so, we’d have to build the largest telescope this world has ever seen.

Writing in Astronomy Magazine, a team of astronomers, engineers, and physicists from the University of Hawaii, the University of Freiburg, and elsewhere is making the case for infrared SETI. The basic idea is that a sufficiently advanced extraterrestrial civilization will produce more power on its planet than it receives from its parent star. This delta in energy could indicate the presence of an alien civilization.

"The energy footprint of life and civilization appears as infrared heat radiation," says Jeff Kuhn, the project's lead scientist. "A convenient way to describe the strength of this signal is in terms of total stellar power that is incident on the host planet."

Thus, given a large enough telescope — and one that’s designed specifically for infrared detection — astronomers could scan the heavens for planets within a 60 light-year radius.

And indeed, there is already a proposal on the table for one such telescope: The Colossus.

Could we find alien civilizations using infrared light?SExpandSpace Daily describes the telescope:

The quest for direct infrared detection of extraterrestrial civilizations, along with many other research possibilities, has led the team to the funding and building of a giant telescope. Currently planned large infrared telescopes, the Giant Magellan Telescope, the Thirty Meter Telescope, and the European Extremely Large Telescope, would not be large enough.

Instead, a telescope (dubbed Colossus) with a primary mirror about 250 feet (77 meters) in diameter could find hundreds of Earth-sized or larger planets in habitable zones, and perhaps dozens of extraterrestrial civilizations, by using a sensitive coronagraph — and the technology to build such an instrument exists.

The international team thus seeks funding to build a 77-m telescope, which would be constructed from revolutionary thin-mirror slumping and polishing technologies developed by the Innovative Optics team. The telescope would consist of approximately sixty 8-m mirror segments, and would operate at a high-altitude site.

In addition, the telescope could be used to study stellar surfaces, black holes, and quasars.

The discovery of a real transmission would probably provide no immediate answers to one of the most frequently asked questions about SETI: What do the aliens look like? The SETI community is usually reluctant to speculate on this issue, but this won't stop the public from using their own imagination.

It will be one of the greatest moments in science, and also one of the greatest moments in history. After decades of searching, a signal from extraterrestrials is received by a radio telescope on Earth. SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) analysts quickly check the transmission using other instruments, and prepare to announce the great discovery. The media descends on the story and soon millions of people around the world are reading the news. Then what?

Exactly how the world would react to the discovery of extraterrestrial intelligence has been the subject of much speculation. There could be a mixture of excitement, fascination, fear, confusion, disbelief, indifference and panic. Like emergency planners preparing for a catastrophe, scientists regularly assemble to consider ways that world at large would respond to such an event, and how to plan for the day when a discovery comes.

Psychologist and SETI scholar Doug Vakoch has been exploring this question for years, and recently gathered an eclectic team to explore the issue. The result is a large and detailed book, "Astrobiology, History and Society", which was recently released by the academic publisher Springer. A free preview of the book has been released online here.

Scientists and journalists have struggled with this problem for a long time.

"One of the best ways to prepare for the discovery of life beyond Earth is to understand how we've dealt with false alarms in the past," explains Vakoch. "History is rich with incidents when life beyond Earth was reported and widely believed. In the early nineteenth century, the astronomer John Herschel reportedly discovered intelligent "bat-men" on the Moon. The news spread widely, and the public was energized. There's only one problem: it was a hoax!"

"As we move from science fiction to science fact, we learn the same lesson: be cautious! When astronomers first discovered pulsars--super-dense stars that emit regular pulses as they spin rapidly--these scientists wondered whether they may have finally detected signals from extraterrestrials. After all, the signals they detected looked unlike anything they'd ever seen nature make before."

It is not entirely clear when the next big alert will come, but Vakoch hopes that we will be a little wiser than before.

"If we do detect a signal from extraterrestrial intelligence, we should expect some ambiguity. It probably won't be clear overnight whether or not this really is a signal from an advanced civilization. So our best preparation for the actual discovery of extraterrestrial life--whether intelligent or microbial--is to be patient, as scientists sift through the data to see whether it really points to the existence of life beyond Earth."

The discovery of a real transmission would probably provide no immediate answers to one of the most frequently asked questions about SETI: What do the aliens look like? The SETI community is usually reluctant to speculate on this issue, but this won't stop the public from using their own imagination.

Public perceptions of extraterrestrials are influenced by a variety of educational and cultural factors. It's fair to say that many people have their preconceptions of aliens shaped by Hollywood movies, which generally present them as hostile or dangerous. Traditional legends of monsters, humanoids and supernatural creatures stalking the Earth could also influence the way some people and cultures would react to a discovery.

The rise of online and social media is creating new dilemmas for the SETI community. Online channels will help to quickly circulate news of a SETI discovery, but they could also distort or corrupt the message.

Online hoaxes have already plagued the SETI community, and some have even fooled the mainstream media. Some analysts fear that pranksters could cause panic by suggesting that the extraterrestrials are planning or even carrying out hostile activities. False stories could go "viral" very quickly as people panic. The rise of cyber-attacks around the world has also raised fears of potential attacks on SETI computers and online accounts.

Issues such as cultural traditions and religion will also affect the way a discovery is perceived by different people.

One of the most controversial questions that will be raised after a discovery is the issue of sending a reply. This remains hotly contested amongst scientists and SETI researchers.

SETI is becoming more important today as scientists discover hundreds of "exoplanets" orbiting other stars. This suggests that solar systems that could support life could be more common than some scientists previously suspected.

While we wait for a signal, the SETI community will sharpen their theories in preparation for the big event.

    Close encounters with UFO airheads

    Close encounters with UFO airheads

July 2013 was a big month for UFO fans. No, not the metalhead followers of the English hard rock group of the same acronym. One’s talking here about the airheads who believe in Unidentified Flying Objects.

First, July 2 was International UFO day. Then Google released a doodle to mark the 66th anniversary of the Roswell Incident, in which aliens were supposedly killed in a spacecraft crash outside the New Mexico town of Roswell. Finally, the British National Archives has released the final tranche of all Ministry of Defence (MOD) documents dealing with UFOs.

There are now some 52 000 pages accessible online, running from 1967 when ‘defence’ reasons the military’s UFO Desk was established, through to 2009 when it was shut down. The final tranche is free for download until the end of the month.

The reason for the release of the policy documents, sightings reports, official investigations, and public correspondence is simply that while not every UFO sighting can be disproved, the MOD had concluded after almost 50 years that there was not a shred of evidence of close encounters of the alien kind. The UFO Desk was simply a waste of manpower and money.

As an MOD official in 2008 wrote in reply to yet another conspiracy theorist: ‘There has been speculation that the decision to release the [MOD’s] UFO files is part of an international agreement to prepare the world’s population for the news that aliens are amongst us. I am afraid [this] is pure fantasy.’

The picture that emerges from the reams of documents is certainly not of a secretive government desperately hushing up the arrival ot ET. Rather, it’s of a military bureaucracy at great pains to be punctiliously correct towards inquirers who are gullible and nutty in equal measure.

This often included having to obtain from air bases all around Britain voluminous amounts of detail of scheduled military flights, interceptor scramblings and radar sightings, at a substantial cost in time and manpower.

    Among the correspondence:

‘Does the MOD believe that aliens exist have made contact with our planet?’ MOD reply: ‘The MOD does not have any expertise in respect of … extra-terrestrial life forms, about which it remains totally open minded. I should add that to date the MOD knows of no evidence which substantiates the existence of these alleged phenomena.’

‘Is the MOD in possession of any non-man made flying machine?’ MOD reply: ‘The answer is no.’

In reply to another: ‘Thank you for your request [regarding] any UFOs or extra-terrestrial designed craft controlled by Homo Sapiens over Grimsby on December 2, 1997 between 01h00 and 05h00. We have no such reports. In addition, we have no knowledge of the existence of any craft of alien design…’

There is enough material in these files to keep world government conspiracists, flying saucer spotters and the I-was-abducted-by-aliens-and-made-to-do-nasty-sexual-stuff happy for ages. None of the trawling scientists, though, have yet alighted on anything that credibly suggests alien civilisations are taking a close-up squizz at humanity’s pathetic attempts at the same.

In fact, every MOD reply to a sighting claim contains the common sense mantra: ‘Unless there is evidence of a potential threat to the United Kingdom, and to date no “UFO” has revealed such evidence, we do not attempt to identify the precise nature of each sighting. We believe that rational explanations such as aircraft lights or natural phenomena could be found if resources were diverted for this purpose [but] it is not the function of the MOD to provide an aerial identification service.’

And as scientists have pointed out, these UFO sightings show telltale peaks. The highest number of reports was in 1978, the year that Close Encounters of the Third Kind was released in UK cinemas. Another peak was in the mid-1990s when the US television show The X-Files was at the height of its popularity.

And second highest peak, which was in 2009 when the UFO Desk was finally shut down? Well, that was when releasing Chinese Lanterns at weddings became fashionable.

The Green Skinned Children Who Appeared In An English Village

    (Before It's News)

    Woolpit, Suffolk, England

While reaping the harvest in the village of Woolpit, England a strange discovery was made. Within a hole in the ground, used to trap wolves, were two children and both – a boy and a girl – were green in colour and spoke an unknown language.

The strange story from the 12th century remains a mystery today.

The children were taken to the home of Richard de Calne, a Knight living at Wikes, where at first they refused all food until they discovered bean stalks, which they were happy to devour. The restricted diet obviously wasn’t too healthy and the boy became sickly and soon died.

The girl, however, gradually adjusted to her new life and extended the range of foods she would eat. She lived a reasonably normal life, learned to speak English, but was described as being rather loose and wanton in her conduct.

Gradually the girl was persuaded to tell her story of how she came to be found in Woolpit.

Ralph of Coggeshall, an English chronicler, recorded her explanation:

“Being frequently asked about the people of her country, she asserted that the inhabitants, and all they had in that country, were of a green colour; and that they saw no sun, but enjoyed a degree of light like what is after sunset.

Being asked how she came into this country with the aforesaid boy, she replied, that as they were following their flocks, they came to a cavern, on entering which they heard a delightful sound of bells; ravished by whose sweetness, they went for a long time wandering on through the cavern, until they came to its mouth. When they came out of it, they were struck senseless by the excessive light of the sun, and the unusual temperature of the air; and they thus lay for a long time. Being terrified by the noise of those who came on them, they wished to fly, but they could not find the entrance of the cavern before they were caught.”

Many explanations have been given but a hidden world within the earth is the most common. Somehow the children had perhaps stepped through a door from a parallel dimension. The Scottish astronomer, Duncan Lunan, has suggested something completely different and puts forward the theory that the children were transported to Earth from another planet in error by a malfunctioning matter transmitter.

Today’s Woolpit Village website keeps their version of the story very  simple:

B4INREMOTE-aHR0cDovLzQuYnAuYmxvZ3Nwb3QuY29tLy1Na05UM0tINTZ6RS9VMWFDOUlkZkI3SS9BQUFBQUFBQVB2cy9nNjg4RkJCZEwtQS9zMTYwMC93b29scGl0LmpwZw==One prominent feature of the village sign is two small children. They depict a story that goes back to the 12th century and tells the legend of The Green Children of Woolpit

This curious tale is recorded as taking place at about the same time as Sampson’s journey to Rome.

Very briefly, reapers were astonished at the discovery of a boy and a girl in a hole in the ground. The children were green, and spoke no recognisable language. The boy, who was sickly, soon died, but the girl grew up in Woolpit, and is said to have married a man from King’s Lynn. This story has been re-enacted on many occasions and has appeared on children’s television.”

Wikipedia gives a rather more mundane explanation:

“Many Flemish immigrants arrived in eastern England during the 12th century, and they were persecuted after Henry II became King in 1154; a large number of them were killed near Bury St Edmunds in 1173 at the Battle of Fornham fought between Henry II and Robert de Beaumont, 3rd Earl of Leicester.

Paul Harris has suggested that the green children’s Flemish parents perished during a period of civil strife and that the children may have come from the village of Fornham St Martin, slightly to the north of Bury St Edmunds, where a settlement of Flemish fullers existed at that time. They may have fled and ultimately wandered to Woolpit.

Disoriented, bewildered, and dressed in unfamiliar Flemish clothes, the children would have presented a very strange spectacle to the Woolpit villagers. The children’s colour could be explained by green sickness, the result of a dietary deficiency.”

But there is another tale of green children being found, this time in Spain.

    B4INREMOTE-aHR0cDovLzIuYnAuYmxvZ3Nwb3QuY29tLy0tdjRiazJwTFhQby9VMWFNNXRWazZlSS9BQUFBQUFBQVB2OC9pWjdfRzUzdnpSby9zMTYwMC9ncmVlbi1ib3ktZ2lybC5qcGc=

“… fom Banjos, Spain in August of 1887. A boy and a girl of greenish color were found abandoned near a cave. They did not speak Spanish and wore unfamiliar clothing.

Their eyes were described as Oriental in appearance … both children refused to eat at first. The boy grew weak and died, but the girl survived, learned Spanish, and explained that she and her companion came from a sunless land …  the girl is reported to have claimed they had been caught up in a whirlwind and found themselves in the cave. The girl died in 1892.” Sourcer

From where the children from Woolpit and Banjos originated is anyone’s guess: an underground world, from another planet or dimension? Or maybe there is a more simple, Earthly explanation.

Nearly half of Estonians believe aliens have visited Earth

    (Before It's News)

According to a recent poll, many Estonians believe ETs not only exist, but they have civilizations and have visited Earth. Many also believe humans were seeded on Earth by aliens, and that some governments are hiding their secret interactions with extraterrestrial civilizations.

The poll was conducted by the Tartu University department of religion, according to the online magazine, The Baltic Course. 1,100 people were polled, and 43% said they believed in the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations, the representatives of which occasionally visit our planet.

22% said they believed humans were brought here by extraterrestrials, and 16% believe that some of the larger governments are cooperating with extraterrestrials and hiding it from everyone else.

    Estonia-Map

The poll showed that Estonians have a very new-age outlook. 70% said they believed in spiritual development that includes mental practices such as meditation. 61% believe that “natural religion is the true religion of the Estonian people.” However, only 4% claimed to be natural religion believers.

Only a fifth said they were Christian, but instead most of them, 58%, felt “they have their own religion, which is independent of different churches and religions.” 49% said they “don’t consider themselves religious but they have high interest towards different religions and mental teachings.”

Although Estonians are very independent when it comes to religious affiliations, many do appreciate Christian doctrine. 55% said “Christian doctrine is the basis of growing to be a moral person.”

However, many also have reservations about religious institutions. 28% said “religion is an obstacle for the free mental development of a person” and 35% agreed that “church is meant to manipulate masses of people and keep them under control.”

One tenth claimed to be atheist. Previous surveys have found Estonia to be one of the least religious countries in the world.

    ET_Life_By_Religious_Affiliation_v2

Estonians’ independent outlook on religion could be related to why so many believe in aliens. Last year a poll done by a company called Survata found that atheists and agnostics are 76% more likely than Christians to believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life.
