Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Ohio witnesses near Amberley Village reported watching a low flying, triangle-shaped object with multiple lights that quickly disappeared behind nearby tree tops, according to April 24, 2014, testimony in Case 55744 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database. The two friends were traveling together about 2 a.m. on April 20, 2014, along a dark road when the object was first seen. “I was just looking out of the windshield when I suddenly noticed the craft flying silently and quickly across the sky,” the reporting witness stated. “My friend noticed it next and was just as surprised and excited by it as I was.” The witness described the object. “We watched as it flew across the sky before us at a pretty low altitude, not far above the trees. It was a black triangle with many lights on it. It happened too quickly to count how many lights there were but I remember that there were solid white lights at each tip. Not actually on the very tip – they were still under the craft. There were also a few white lights both solid and blinking in the center with a blinking red light in the center as well. I can’t remember too well but I don’t think the red dot was in the center – it was off to one side. We only saw the underside of the ship as it flew over us.” The witness stated that there may have been a low hum coming from the object. “It was totally silent from what I remember. There may have been a low hum – my memory isn’t perfect – but if there was I don’t remember it. It just flew right over us and disappeared behind the tree tops. It was a very exciting experience. But it happened too quickly to get a picture unfortunately.” Amberley, also known as Amberley Village, is a village in Hamilton County, population 3,585. Ohio MUFON is investigating. Ohio has a current UFO Alert Rating of 3 with a high number of recent reports nationally. Ohio had 24 UFO reports in March 2014 – the 5th highest reporting state – while California had 103 reports – the highest reporting state in the nation. NOTE: The above image is a rendering.

Is Wikipedia te vertrouwen?
Wikipedia is voor velen een belangrijke bron van informatie. Toch is de inhoud van de artikelen niet altijd juist. Grove inhoudelijke fouten in een artikel doen het vertrouwen in dat artikel nauwelijks dalen, zelfs bij experts. Volgens Teun Lucassen van de Universiteit Twente laat dat zien dat mensen de inhoud zeer oppervlakkig bekijken en doorgaans blindelings geloven wat er staat.
Wie zit er achter de informatie? Een groep activisten onder de naam ‘Guerrilla Skepticism on Wikipedia’ doet serieuze inspanningen om de wetenschappelijke artikelen op de internetencyclopedie naar eigen inzicht aan te passen. De groep Guerrillastrijders dook in 2009 op na Climategate. Activist William Connolley van de Britse Green Party maakte of herschreef 5428 artikelen op Wikipedia, met name over klimaatverandering en wetenschappers die het niet met hem eens waren. Toen hij beheerder werd bij Wikipedia, verwijderde hij 500 artikelen en gooide hij er 2000 redacteuren uit. Dat bleek uit onderzoek van de National Post.
Onderzoekers van de Oxford-universiteit hebben ontdekt dat vooral Wikipedia-pagina’s over Israël en God veelvuldig worden aangepast. Dr. Rupert Sheldrake van de Cambridge University en Harvard beschuldigt de Guerrilla Skepticism-club van het misbruiken van vertrouwen van de lezers. De groep Guerrillastrijders wordt geleid door Susan Gerbik en heeft als doel het ‘controleren van informatie’.
Op de website van Guerrilla Skepticism staat: “De missie van het team van Guerrilla Skepticism is het verbeteren van sceptische inhoud op Wikipedia. We verbeteren pagina’s van onze sceptische woordvoerders door noemenswaardige citaten te vermelden en claims afkomstig van paranormale en pseudowetenschappelijke pagina’s te verwijderen.”
De redacteuren van de groep passen de biografieën van wetenschappers aan. Ze spreken lovend over wetenschappers die ze goedkeuren en stellen wetenschappers die ze niet mogen in een kwaad daglicht. De biografie van Sheldrake werd bijvoorbeeld ‘gevangengenomen door een commando-eenheid sceptici’.
In 2005 bleek nog uit een studie dat Wikipedia vrijwel even betrouwbaar is als de Encyclopædia Britannica. Hoewel de Wikipedia-artikelen meer fouten bevatten, zijn de serieuze fouten eerlijk verdeeld, aldus het tijdschrift Nature. Het online naslagwerk lag dat jaar flink onder vuur vanwege vermeend gesjoemel met diverse artikelen.
“Scepticisme is een normaal, gezond aspect van twijfel,” schreef Sheldrake. “Helaas kan het ook als wapen worden ingezet om tegenstanders aan te vallen. In wetenschappelijke en medische context, is georganiseerd scepticisme een kruistocht om wetenschappelijk materialisme te propageren. Terwijl je dit leest speelt zich op Wikipedia een ware oorlog af.”
In the 1950s, rocket scientists dreamed of atomic-powered spaceships. Now these far-fetched designs might help a new generation explore the cosmos.
Project Orion has to be the most audacious, dangerous and downright absurd space programme ever funded by the US taxpayer. This 1950s design involved exploding nuclear bombs behind a spacecraft the size of the Empire State Building to propel it through space. The Orion’s engine would generate enormous amounts of energy – and with it lethal doses of radiation.
Plans suggested the spacecraft could take off from Earth and travel to Mars and back in just three months. The quickest flight using conventional rockets and the right planetary alignment is 18 months.
There were obvious challenges – from irradiating the crew and the launch site, to the disruption caused by the electromagnetic pulse, plus the dangers of a catastrophic nuclear accident taking out a sizable portion of the US. But the plan was, nevertheless, given serious consideration. Project Orion was conceived when atmospheric nuclear tests were commonplace and the power of the atom promised us all a bright new tomorrow. Or oblivion. Life was simpler then.
In the early 1960s, common sense prevailed and the project was abandoned, but the idea of nuclear-powered spaceships has never gone away. In fact there are several in the cold depths of space right now.

The Voyager space probes, currently heading beyond the bounds of the Solar System, and the Cassini spacecraft in orbit around Saturn are fitted with nuclear power plants. These Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators (RTGs) rely on the natural decay of plutonium to generate heat, which is then converted into electricity.
With no moving parts, RTGs are not nuclear reactors and can only generate a few hundred watts of power (the equivalent of a bright lightbulb). But as ambitions for missions deeper into our solar system grow, much larger spaceships propelled by more powerful nuclear generators are back on the agenda.
“Orion was a visionary project,” says Kelvin Long, physicist, engineer and head of the Initiative for Interstellar Studies. “People who are excited about this stuff don’t live in the present, we live in the future.”
Long’s immediate future involves helping to design a starship – a robotic craft that could travel at high speed beyond our Solar System to other nearby stars. A starship travelling at thousands of kilometres per second could reach Mars in weeks, the outer solar system in months and other star systems in years. Long is not alone. There are several other programmes underway, including the 100 Year Starship project backed by the US military research agency, Darpa.
To achieve this goal, the ships will need much more powerful propulsion systems than conventional chemical rockets or solar-powered probes. “It’s all about generating enormous amounts of energy,” says Long. “You can get much more efficient power generation from nuclear systems, such as fission or fusion.”

Fission involves splitting atomic nuclei in a controlled chain reaction to produce energy. Conventional nuclear power stations and the generating plants on nuclear submarines and ships use the technique to make electricity. It is a well established, but not incident-free, science. In the fusion process, on the other hand, the nuclei of atoms are forced together to release energy. It is what powers the Sun, and the hydrogen bomb.
“Fusion produces much more energy, in terms of bang for your buck, compared to fission-based systems,” says Long, explaining why his group’s starship designers favour fusion propulsion. “We know it’s a very efficient process. If you can do it you can produce a power generation system which will move you outside the Solar System and you don’t have to come back for more rocket fuel.”
Power challenge
However, as anyone who has followed the field knows, despite the multi-billion-dollar global effort that has gone into fusion research over the past half century, no one has yet built a fusion reactor that produces more energy then you put in. There is an in-joke among fusion engineers (and their journalist followers) that a viable fusion power plant is always 30 years away.
Undeterred, various concepts for fusion engines have been proposed. One, funded by Nasa, involves a contained atomic reaction that generates a focused beam of charged particles to push the starship along. Apart from the enormous thrust such a system could generate – well in excess of conventional rockets – as you travel around the cosmos you could tap into a ready supply of suitable fuel, such as helium 3.
“There’s helium 3 in the gas giants like Jupiter, absolutely loads of it,” says Long. “You could mine it with huge balloons that you drop into the atmosphere, separate out the helium, load it into your starship and away you go.” It seems that no problem is too big for those who live in the future.

Most 21st-Century starship designs owe a great deal to the Daedalus interstellar craft, conceived by members of the British Interplanetary Society in the 1970s. Assembled in orbit, like the International Space Station (ISS), and a similar size to Orion, the concept starship was powered by a fusion engine surrounded by bulbous tanks of helium fuel.
But even assuming all this is doable, there remains one particularly sticky problem. It’s the same issue that faced the designers of Project Orion back in the 1950s. You can build and power-up your fusion engine in space to avoid nuclear fallout, but how do you protect your astronauts from dying of radiation sickness?
The Orion solution was to put thick metal or liquid shielding between crew and nuclear material. The latest concepts suggest a better idea might be to build long thin ships, where the engine is several hundred metres away from the habitation modules. Not unlike the spaceship in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
If a viable fusion reactor can be developed, Long reckons we could we see a nuclear-powered ship heading out of our immediate cosmic neighbourhood to the stars and planets beyond within the next century. “We would like to see humanity moving outwards and following the pioneers and dreams of the past,” he says. “We feel we’re working towards a future that’s good for humanity.”
Project Orion may have been ill-conceived, foolhardy and environmentally irresponsible, but nuclear power could yet be a tool to take humans to the stars.
In 1979 (Rockford, Illinois USA) I was 19 years old, living at home, and I would hang out with a girl pal (met at a then ‘Christian coffee house – the Jesus hippie movement type thing at that time – in 1976). Her and I were experiencing ufo sightings, in September, and in the then UFO Report Magazine, November issue, was the write up of a sightings flapwave in that region in ’79. So my friend and I saw ufos due to that ufo flapwave, most likely.
In the midst of that, this happened:
One day around noon, on a weekend day, I was at her house, where she lived with her widowed elderly father. We were standing in the living room, trying to think of something interesting to go do/see. We were gazing out the large window which faced the front yard, sidewalk, and street. It was a sidestreet, not main thoroughfare, into a quiet old residential neighborhood. Then a spectacle shows up. 2 men. (Not the ‘traditional’ 3). They looked alike. And dressed all in black. I vaguely recollect they were both wearing trenchcoats. Black. Also, black suit, trousers, shoes, tie. White shirt. They seemed to me, average height for an average man, and both thin and pale. Caucasian and pale. Their heads were so very odd. It’s like they had long heads, or had some odd thing sitting atop their heads, that was hair or a hat. Or some kind of hat on hair. All black. Giving the craniums a long appearance.
Well they walked close together shoulder to shoulder down the sidewalk, looking at the window we were behind, appearing to look right at us. My friend and I made the decision to fling open the front door and go out there, and get a closer look at the two men. And discovered,…..NO one there! Like they “vanished into thin air”.
Luckily for me, many years later, actor Dan Ackroyd, disclosed about his own vanishing MIB experience. I also find it fascinating and confirming, that one recent World Bank whistleblower, Karen Hudes, (see YouTube) states that it is a fact, alternate ‘humans’ attend high level “meetings” and have long craniums.

I made drawings, but with my MIB illustration, I did not make the “hair” look long/high -enough-. Should have worked on it more. They are next to another drawing I made, of a tall blonde guy who was intimidating, but I cannot say how extraordinary-or-mundane, that particular incident was. I felt it to be unusual.
The ufo sightings friend and I had, relevant to my above story, are in an illustration by me, there as well. A couple years back, I decided to submit the recounting to Peter Davenport’s National Ufo Reporting Center, where the sighting is in the database for September of 1979 for my state. I’ve had a lot of tricksterish otherworldly and conspiracy type incidents, the MIBs is one of them.
An Open Minds reader sent us a few pictures her mother took of UFOs seemingly cruising over the desert somewhere between Oklahoma and Arizona.
Shemika Brown sent us these images, and says they were captured by her mother. Brown’s mother was traveling from Oklahoma to visit Brown in Arizona. After previewing the pictures she took of the mountains from her car, Brown’s mother spotted these odd objects. She thought they were planes. However, Brown took a closer look and saw they looked more circular.
Here is what she wrote us:
I have three pictures and in these pictures I believe there are three UFOs in them. My mother was driving to Arizona from Oklahoma to visit me. When she arrived that night she showed me all the pictures she had taken while in the mountains. That’s when she discovered the three objects in the picture. My mother thought that it might have been planes. So I began to look at the pictures and it was clear to me that these were in fact not airplanes! Airplane don’t fly together like that! I proceeded to further investigate the picture. I zoomed in on the photo and wow! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Each object was circular like a disk, and had lights on the front. I’m sending you these pictures. To help us understand what the objects are. Thank you!
Brown sent the pictures to us to help her figure out what might be in the pictures. In a couple of the images there is glare from inside the vehicle reflecting on the window. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case in the first picture.

Ridley Scott to direct ancient aliens show for HBO
It was announced on Thursday, April 24 that director Ridley Scott is developing an alien-themed drama titled Pharaoh for HBO.
Scott has signed on to serve as the executive producer and director for this project, which was created and sold to the premium cable channel by David Schulner. The Hollywood Reporter explains:
The drama explores an alternate explanation for the foundation and ascent of the ancient Egyptian empire — one in which greatness was bestowed upon us by beings from another world, calling into question what it means to be a “god.” The project was co-created by Giannina Facio and Colet Abedi, who will exec produce alongside Scott and David Zucker for Scott Free.
Although this plot outline sounds familiar to that of the Stargate franchise that began with the 1994 film and followed with the SyFy television series Stargate SG-1, it sounds like the premise of Pharaoh is different enough. Blastr states, “Obviously, fans of Stargate are pretty familiar with the concept, and it sounds like Scott could be putting a spin on the old premise (minus the ‘gates, apparently).” And Wired UK speculates the series will be “something along the lines of Rome with an Ancient Astronauts twist, rather than a Stargate redux.”
Of course, Scott is familiar with the extraterrestrial genre. He is well-known for his 1979 blockbuster hit Alien, and, more recently, the 2012 film Prometheus. Scott also directed the successful period film Gladiator in 2000. With Pharaoh blending extraterrestrial and historical elements, Scott seems to be a good fit for the project. And Scott himself is a proponent of ancient alien theories. His film Prometheus was partially inspired by the writings of Swiss author Erich von Daniken who is known for his books like Chariots of the Gods? and Gods From Outer Space. Von Daniken is also a regular talking head on History Channel’s Ancient Aliens.
Scott is currently directing a seemingly related film titled Exodus: Gods and Kings, scheduled to be released in December 2014. – Open Minds
I apologize for how long this is, but I have a bunch of stories and have always wanted to find explanations. I grew up in the same home just outside of Boston until I was about 21 and moved out on my own. A little background on the house; it was part of a condominium complex that was originally an estate belonging to a wealthy family. I believe that the actual house we were in was an addition and although it was on the physical property of the estate it was not built until much later. At some point the estate was sold to the Church and was a Monastery. I had heard that during the time as a Monastery my house was a dormitory but I’m not sure if that is true. It was then turned into condominiums.
In addition to the history of the place my parents always thought my Grandfather was present. He passed away before I was born but I’ve been told he was very controlling, not in a bad way, but just in the way that my family felt even if he passed he would want to be around.
These occurrences happened over 10+ years but I’ve never been able to truly explain any of them:
I always felt like I was being watched, especially on the bottom floor of my house where my room was and where the den was where we spent a lot of time watching TV. It was always a very uncomfortable feeling and typically it felt like someone was right behind me. This was especially true when I was alone in the house or when I went to bed. I’m not sure if some of this was my own imagination, but it was really most noticeable when I was alone.
There was a fire alarm hard wired into the ceiling that fell down and hung by a wire almost every day for years. I want to emphasize that this happened 5-7 times per week for years and nobody ever saw it actually fall. It seemed to happen when we were all out of the house at school or work. My father was the only one tall enough to reattach it at the time. To reattach the alarm you had to really push and twist it hard. One day he put it back up and said “Stop it Eddie (my grandfather)! We know you’re here and this is annoying!” It never fell down again. I swear this is completely true. The strange thing is I never felt scared when the fire alarm was down, it was somewhat comforting.
On more than one occasion a brand new penny would fall several feet away from anyone.
I was a normal messy teenager and my mom would always get on me about leaving dirty clothes under my bed. One night she asked if there was anything under my bed that should be in the hamper. I told her no, but there were socks under my bed. I woke up in the morning with the socks on the pillow right in front of me. My parents have sworn up and down they’d never sneak into my room while I was sleeping because I’d probably have woken up anyways and because they knew how much it would scare me.
Anyways, I hope this is at least an interesting read for some of you. I understand this is the internet and people are skeptical but this is all genuine. I felt compelled to write about this now because of a recent death in my family that has really bothered me and I was hoping sharing these stories would be comforting. – Reddit.com
Huge black rectangle UFO – Multiple witnesses – Donora, PA
On Monday April 21, 2014 at approx 3:15pm I was finishing up my jog at the local park here in Donora, PA. Called Palmer Park. I noticed slightly to the left of my position above the treetops on the hill was a HUGE black rectangle object moving slowly over the treetops. Moving right to left. It had a very “boxy” look to it, sharp defined edges. This thing was very far away, about 1-2 miles. The park I was at is way up on a hill so that’s how I was able to see it so far away. This object did not reflect the daytime sun. I saw no lights on it or windows. It was far away so all I can say is what I saw from the distance of where I was. The object did appear to change shape, going from a large solid rectangle to a thinner but just as long rectangle. It was just cruising along very very slowly above the treetops and even hovered a few times. It was 2-3 times the size of the goodyear blimp I’d say for as big as it appeared for as far away as I knew it was. It was really close, touching the treetops practically. I did not have my phone to take a photo. I was still a ways form my car where my phone was so i tried to jog to my car as fast as I could being already out of breath. There were some other people there at the park. I knew I needed to get other people to confirm this sighting. There were two women sitting watching their kids play on the playground. I was still some walking distance from them so I kept my eye on this object while I made my way over to them. At this point the object has crossed over a gap between the large hillsides to continue its course over the next hillside and treetops. This object i swear changed shape a few times. Getting thinner then real big again. Always maintaining the rectangle shape and dull black color. Also it appeared to move sideways, backing up away from my position, then back towards me again. – MUFON CMS
Abducted by ET? There is now a support group for you
The group aims to provide help to those who believe that they have been abducted by extraterrestrials.
Known as “The Anomalous Mind Management, Abductee, Contactee Helpline”, or “Ammach” for short, the group is run by Joanne Summerscales who aims to give people a platform of support from which they can relay their experiences without fear of ridicule.
Despite the unusual nature of such claims there are still a surprising number of people who believe that they have, at some stage in their lives, encountered beings from another world. The traditional abduction experience usually involves a person being taken from their bed at night, subjected to medical experiments and then returned with their memories of the encounter distorted or erased.
“We aim to provide a safe platform for them to tell their stories without ridicule and fear,” said Summerscales who has to date been contacted by more than 1,500 people with abduction experiences. “I do not believe everything I hear but if something strange happened to us we would want to have the ability to tell someone about it without fear.” Read more at Telegraph

Although this plot outline sounds familiar to that of the Stargate franchise that began with the 1994 film and followed with the SyFy television series Stargate SG-1, it sounds like the premise of Pharaoh is different enough. Blastr states, “Obviously, fans of Stargate are pretty familiar with the concept, and it sounds like Scott could be putting a spin on the old premise (minus the ‘gates, apparently).” And Wired UK speculates the series will be “something along the lines of Rome with an Ancient Astronauts twist, rather than a Stargate redux.”
Of course, Scott is familiar with the extraterrestrial genre. He is well-known for his 1979 blockbuster hit Alien, and, more recently, the 2012 film Prometheus. Scott also directed the successful period film Gladiator in 2000. With Pharaoh blending extraterrestrial and historical elements, Scott seems to be a good fit for the project.
Scott is also currently directing a seemingly related film titled Exodus: Gods and Kings, scheduled to be released in December 2014.

With the city blacked out hundreds of thousands of people, were able to see the eerie visitor with spectacular clarity.
The U.S. Army anti-aircraft searchlights by this time had the object completely covered. They sent fighter planes up in groups approach it and then turn away. There were shooting at it but it didn’t seem to matter
The planes were apparently called off after several minutes and then the ground cannon opened up. “It was like the Fourth of July but much louder. They were firing like crazy but they couldn’t touch it.
The attack on the object lasted over half an hour before the visitor eventually disappeared from sight. Many eyewitnesses talked of numerous “direct hits” on the big craft but no damage was seen done to it.

A witness has reported sighting UFO that moved like a rocket, and stopped over Oakville, Ontario on 10 April, 2014 at 9:30 AM. This report has been obtained from a testimony included in the database of Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), published on 10 April, 2014.
The witness begins the report by telling us that a light in the sky caught his attention. He goes on to describe the shape and intensity of the object.
“It was round in shape; appeared to have various intensity.”
The witness describes the speed and movement of the object.
“Moved very slow almost like floating. Stopped, hovered for a few seconds then shot up rapidly then stopped and hovered again for a few seconds.”
He then talks about the direction in which it ‘float away’.
“It then started to float away in the same direction it was previously moving it.”
The witness describes his initial reaction to the sighting.
“Oddest and eeriest thing I’ve ever seen. Thought process moved from plane, to shooting star, to meteor then realized that it was just moving way to slow.”
He further describes how the object behaved like a rocket. “I wouldn’t be normally reading too much into this but it stopped and hovered, shot up like a rocket then stopped and hovered again.”
The witness finally tells us that he could only record the object for 30 seconds, before it disappeared.
“By the time I reached for my cell to take video I was only able to film about 30 seconds of it floating away”

Firefighters in Maple Ridge, British Columbia were shocked when they observed some UFO orbs in the sky, in March 2014, as reported by UFO Sightings Daily. The website, UFO Sightings Daily, is coordinated by Scott C. Waring. He had been affiliated with the United States Air Force at SAC base (USAF flight line). He currently owns an ESL School in Taiwan.
In this report, Scott Waring has published images of the UFO.
Mr. Waring tells us how the Maple ridge fire department has been freaking out believing that these orbs may be Chinese lanterns.

He then tells us that these glowing UFOs have been observed all over the world. “These glowing UFOs have been seen around the world and performing some extraordinary madder at speeds many times faster than any military jet.”
Quoting an eyewitness, he describes the colour and speed of the object.
“They were bright red and slightly moving.”
He further quotes the eyewitness explaining how these orbs could not have been Chinese lanterns.
“I don’t think they were candle lanterns, as they were so bright.” It is unlikely that these orbs are lanterns since BC law prohibits their sale and use.”
Finally, Mr. Waring says that it’s always best to stick with the eyewitnesses’ testimony over those who did not see the UFOs.

Roswell has long been everyone’s favourite UFO case. Mainly, that’s because almost everyone has heard about it: “Roswell? Oh yeah, the place where a UFO crashed, right?”
But last year, the last primary witness – Jesse Marcel Junior – died, and the UFO community realised something important, namely that it doesn’t say much for ufology if the subject’s so-called flagship case is one that happened nearly 70 years ago, with nobody left alive to tell the story first-hand. It was something of a gift to the sceptics. Couldn’t ufology come up with something better? Fortunately, it could.
TV networks and production companies led the way. Knowing that the lack of witnesses made it very difficult to make new shows on Roswell, they began to focus instead on the Rendlesham Forest incident. It was the ‘perfect storm’ of a UFO case: a UFO that landed next to two US military bases (Bentwaters and Woodbridge) in the UK, at the height of the Cold War, and was witnessed by dozens of military personnel. The UFO was seen on three consecutive nights and witnesses included the Deputy Base Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt.
The Rendlesham Forest incident wasn’t just ‘lights in the sky’. The UFO landed, and on the first, night two United States Air Force security police officers, John Burroughs and Jim Penniston, approached the craft.

Penniston touched the craft, and at this point received what he could only describe as a “telepathic download” of ones and zeroes, which many in the UFO and alternative belief community think is a binary code message, perhaps from extraterrestrials, or maybe from the far future. This ‘Rendlesham Code’ has fast become the most controversial story in ufology today, and has probably featured in at least a dozen TV shows recently, with more in the pipeline.
What makes the Rendlesham Forest incident bigger and more compelling than Roswell is the physical evidence. The UFO was tracked on military radar. The trees in the clearing where the UFO landed had braches smashed off and were scorched – but only on the sides facing the UFO. There were indentations in the frozen ground, showing where the object – estimated to weight several tonnes – landed. Radiation levels recorded at the landing site were assessed by the MoD’s Defence Intelligence Staff as “significantly higher than the average background”. Best of all, the MoD’s case file (now declassified and made public) showed that the senior US Air Force general in Europe flew to the twin bases of Bentwaters and Woodbridge after the landing, was briefed on the incident, and took evidence back to his HQ – without telling the UK authorities! And this took place at a time when the US government’s official line was that it no longer investigated UFOs!
I teamed up with John Burroughs and Jim Penniston recently to write a book on the case. “Encounter in Rendlesham Forest” was serialised in the Daily Mail last Saturday and reached number 35 in the Amazon book charts as a consequence. It’s the only UFO book ever to have required security clearance from both the American and British government.
So, Roswell is dead. Long live Rendlesham Forest!

The truth is out there — in fact, it might be just up the New York State Thruway.
Here are a couple of things you probably didn’t know: New York has its own Roswell — an unofficial UFO sighting capital. And that capital is the small town of Pine Bush, about an hour and a half north of Manhattan on the west side of the Hudson.
Some out-of-town “customers” hang out at a Pine Bush Realtor’s on Main Street.
Legend has it residents have been witnessing strange events, including floating balls of light in the forest, going back to the early 1900s. In the 1950s through the 1990s, reports of unidentified airborne objects exploded. Hundreds of converts claimed to have seen a boomerang-shaped object darting through the sky. Others have videotaped triangular lights or cigar-shaped crafts. Still others have reported seeing strange objects in the sky headed for LaGuardia Airport.
Pine Bush has long embraced its connection to the beyond, viewing it as a potential way to nab tourist dollars. On Saturday, the town hosts its annual UFO Fair. (The rain date is Sunday.)
The daylong event, now in its fourth year, includes live music, lectures from UFO authors, games, face painting and an alien-themed parade down Main Street with decorated cars and humans in costumes.
“It’s probably one of the biggest days we have here,” says Phil Barnao, owner of Fort Lox Bagel, Cafe & Deli, which will host an audience-participation radio broadcast of “The War of the Worlds” at 7 p.m. “They make it a family-oriented type of deal.”

For the record, Barnao has never seen a UFO himself.
“People who have, they must be doing a lot of medical marijuana. I don’t know,” he says.
Last year’s festival drew some 7,000 believers. “We’ve started to get people from the city,” says Domanie Ragni, community services director for the town of Crawford, of which Pine Bush is a part. “People come from out of state. We had somebody come from another country.”
Those hoping to snap a photo of a spacecraft might be out of luck. Sightings have dropped since the 1990s when, perhaps not coincidentally, the cow fields in which skywatchers used to gather were turned into strip malls or condos.
This alien gets a touch-up.

We’re a long way from the days in 1993 when a local man told the Poughkeepsie Journal that he’d been abducted by little green men and immobilized in order to have “a sperm sample” taken. That wasn’t an alien, sir, it was Madonna.
Another article described the sighting of a strange cat that “had a piece of cardboard where its head should be.”
No one’s quite sure why little Pine Bush has been honored with so much mysterious activity. One of the few explanations was put forth by a geologist named Bruce Cornet, who theorized in the 1990s that the Hudson Valley was home to underground alien bases that were beaming signals to spaceships in orbit.
Cornet claimed that the geography of Pine Bush was similar to that of the area on Mars where early photos seemed to reveal the outline of a giant face (later shown to be a trick of the shadows) and pyramid-like structures. (You guessed it — it was later shown to be a trick of the shadows.)

Op 31 mei komen in het Engelse Hastings zo’n 1000 mensen bijeen die beweren buitenaardse wezens te hebben ontmoet, aan boord te zijn geweest van buitenaardse schepen of een hybride kind te hebben gekregen.
De bijeenkomst wordt georganiseerd door de Anomalous Mind Management Abductee Contactee Helpline (Ammach), de ‘enige groep’ in Groot-Brittannië die steun en raad geeft aan mensen die zeggen buitenaards contact te hebben gehad. Onder de sprekers is ook een man die zegt 9/11 te hebben voorspeld na een ontmoeting met een buitenaardse entiteit.
Ammach schat dat ieder jaar zo’n 1500 Britten contact krijgen met buitenaardsen. Onder hen is een vrouw die zegt dat buitenaardsen implantaten hebben ingebracht in haar lichaam, een man die een buitenaardse vrouw en kind heeft en een vrouw die naar eigen zeggen meer dan 1000 keer is meegenomen door buitenaardsen. De organisatie krijgt ongeveer vijf telefoontjes en 25 e-mails per week.

Ammach is in 2011 opgericht door Joanne Summerscales en Miles Johnston. “We gebruiken magnetische veldmeters en een UV-lamp die sporen op de huid zichtbaar maakt,” zei Johnston. “Als je naar een andere dimensie bent geweest, laat dat een afdruk achter in de atomen in je huid. Een familielid van een officier uit Roswell zei dat er na het beroemde Roswellincident niet alleen een levend buitenaards wezen uit de gecrashte UFO is gehaald, maar dat hij er 15 jaar lang vrienden mee is geweest.

On Friday, the company launched its first test flight of a Falcon 9 Reusable (F9R) rocket, which reached over 800 feet in altitude and then made a controlled landing.

Dr. Francisco Julio Padron, a physician, was being driven to Galdar, on Grand Canary Island, when he and his chauffeur saw a spherical object “about the size of a 3-story building” 60 yards off the road. It was of grayish blue color, but transparent—we could see the stars through it.” Near the center of the sphere were 2 figures well over 6 ft tall, who were either red in color or dressed in bright red; they had human faces with large eyes, and their heads gave off a glow. They wore cloth like helmets hiding their ears. On the ends of their arms they had “wing-like appendages that they moved slowly, like hands.” The car’s radio went out, and the witnesses felt an intense cold. Then the object began to rise, apparently growing larger as it did so. Many other witnesses, including 3 astronomers at the observatory, saw the object take off; it approached the observatory, then made a sharp 90-degree turn and took off “like a streak of light.” Onions in the field over which the UFO hovered were found later to have been “cooked” as if by burning.

Mr. and Mrs. Buck McMullen had just sat down to eat when their dog, chained outside their modest house south of Lakeland began to whimper and howl. They paid little attention to him although the dog had a reputation for being vicious and usually showed no fear of anything. That night however, the animal was obviously terrified for he tore loose from his chain, ripped a hole in the porch screen and ran into the dining room to cower under the table where they were sitting. Grace McMullen jumped up and ran outside to sew what could have frightened the animal. Fifty yards from the house she saw a transparent spherical object rocking gently about 10 feet off the ground. It gave off a purplish-red light. Inside the object Mrs. McMullen says she saw two occupants resembling normal men. They were standing, operating a horizontal bar attached to a metallic spindle that ran through the object from top to bottom. They wore dull white, tight fitting clothing, boots, high collars and skull caps. Stunned, Mrs. McMullen turned on the porch light to attract their attention but they didn’t appear to be interested. Although she admits she was frightened Mrs. McMullen says she realized that it could be important and tried to remember everything that occurred. Her husband and her son’s fiancée, Sharon Burgess, who was visiting came outside and stood dumbfounded, but Mrs. McMullen did verify that they were all seeing the same thing. She had thought that she might be dreaming. According to the McMullen’s description the occupants inside the sphere were operating a horizontal bar with their hands inside some sort of flexible compartment. They stood on opposite sides of the spindle and when one pushed down on his side of the bar the ship rocked to that side. As they worked the horizontal bar the ship rocked and as the rocking increased the ship increased its altitude and speed. Mrs. McMullen thinks it might have been on the ground in a vacant field just in front of their house and was taking off when she got outside. She was able to determine the UFO’s size and altitude by its relationship to a tall palm-tree beside the home. Sharon hung back on the porch and suddenly the dog tore another hole in the screen getting out of the house and ran down the road howling in terror. The object rose slowly, rocking, until it was about a mile from the house, then there was a silent burst of fire and sparks and it sped out of sight. Mrs. McMullen says the UFO was in sight for about 10 minutes. Mrs. McMullen reports that the object appeared to be made of a substance resembling glass; it made no sound and she saw no source of power aboard. A band of blue light circled its middle and a halo of purplish-red light shone around the top. These lights glowed dully and both beams were aimed upward. The occupants were turned away from her so she could not see their faces. The object was about 30 feet in diameter, a perfectly circular globe, and there appeared to be no place inside for occupants to sit.

In the spring of 1964 Mrs. Lainchbury was awoken during the night and saw her bedroom illuminated by an orange glow. A sphere of fire passed across the sky, apparently quite close to her wall, and exploded into thousands of pieces in absolute silence. She then says she heard a strange chattering but whether this is anything to do with the case is a matter of judgment. The next day it was found that paint was burnt off the window frames and door at that point on the wall. After repainting the paint fell off in massive lumps. It would no longer stick to the surface. A couple of months later an entity appeared in Mrs. Lainchbury’s bedroom one night. It was five feet tall and completely covered in gray circular rings of small dimensions, which may or may not have been some form of suit. It told the witness that it was from the “ship” that she had seen and was stranded on earth. It thanked her for not being frightened on the first occasion, and explained that this was why she could now receive further visits. After this a further contact occurred in similar fashion, the entities materializing and dematerializing on the spot in the bedroom. On the second occasion, however, there were two other figures with the first. They mentally told Mrs. Lainchbury that they came from Pluto by forming letters in mid-air in front of her. She says that she did not know what this word was until she checked a dictionary afterwards. Here she read the definition that it was another name for Hades or Hell and she took this to be their origin. She did not realize Pluto was a planet of the solar system. Some three years later, while the witness was in bed, she found herself compelled to go to the window. Here she saw an orange sphere float past. She felt certain that this was the entities returning home after having been rescued and that this was their way of saying goodbye to her.

Mrs. L again saw a luminous flying orange sphere near her house. Later that night, 3 entities dressed, as before, in suits made of small rings (one was “rather tubby’) appeared in her bedroom to thank her for not being frightened, and to say they would be departing soon.

There are not many instances in which U.S. Air Force UFO investigators admitted to being baffled, but the case of a police officer seeing a UFO near the ground outside of Socorro, New Mexico in 1964, left them scratching their heads.
50 years ago today, on April 24, 1964 at approximately 5:45 pm, Socorro police officer Lonnie Zamora began pursuing a speeding vehicle just south of town. He then says he heard a “roar,” and he broke off his pursuit to investigate. He knew of a nearby dynamite shack and decided to go take look to see if it was the source of the noise.
He also noticed a flame in the sky. He said it was a bluish orange and appeared to be descending. He says he could not focus on it because he was paying attention to the road. A part of the dirt road was very steep and he had trouble getting over it.
When he did crest the hill he noticed a white object on the ground out in the desert and two people in coveralls near it. He said the object looked oval and white. It also seemed to be on two legs. He thought it might be a car wreck, so he raced down the road to help. He called dispatch to let them know he would be assisting in a car wreck.

When he got closer to the object he pulled his car around, stopped to radio in that he was leaving his car, and then got out. He fumbled with the radio handset, and just as he turned around, he heard a loud “roar (was not exactly a blast).” He said the object began to rise and it had a blue flame under it. He said the bottom of the flame looked orange.
At this point he also noticed the object was smooth with no windows and it had an insignia on the side. He was afraid the thing was going to explode, so he ran. As he ran around his patrol car his leg hit the fender and he fell down. He glanced back and saw the object was still rising, and the roar kept getting louder.

Zamora got up and kept running from the object, finally jumping over a hill for cover. He said the sound stopped. He had planned on continuing to run, but he noticed the object was now moving away. It was only about 10 to 15 feet from the ground. It flew over the dynamite shack, just clearing it by a few feet. It flew off following the contour of the ground, never higher than 20 feet or so, until Zamora lost sight of it.
Zamora went back to his car and asked the radio operator to look out of the window to see if he could see the object. The dispatcher didn’t see anything. Then New Mexico state police officer Sergeant Chavez arrived on the scene.

Chavez asked what was wrong. He noticed Zamora looked out of breath and pale. Zamora told him the story, and they went to look at the area the object had landed. When they got there they noticed a burnt bush and impressions in the ground left by what appeared to be landing gear.

Zamora’s sighting made it into local newspapers and caught the attention of the U.S. Air Force’s Project Blue Book, their official investigation into UFOs. Investigators were impressed with Zamora’s credibility. They were also impressed with the physical evidence. A burnt branch from the bush and the soil at the site of the impressions were analyzed. However, nothing unusual was found. They also tested for radiation, but levels were normal.

There was burnt cardboard found on the site, but Blue Book’s scientific advisor, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, said it was old. He felt it was probably blown by the wind under the bush that got burnt, and was not sturdy enough to be part of a hoax. He noted many bushes in the area had paper or cardboard brought in by the wind stuck under them.
Investigators also noted that there were no tracks from vehicles going into the area. This supported the idea that it was not a hoax. In the end, Blue Book investigators didn’t know what Zamora saw. However, they were certain it was not extraterrestrial.
They noted that the object did not seem to demonstrate technology beyond that of our own space program. In fact, since the White Sands Missile Range was so near, they thought it could have been an experimental craft from there. They even suggested it could be a Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), like those used in the Apollo program. However, their investigation into these possibilities did not produce a definite answer.

Blue Book director Hector Quintanilla said, “[Zamora] is puzzled by what he saw and frankly, so are we. This is the best-documented case on record, and still we have been unable, in spite of thorough investigation, to find the vehicle or other stimulus that scared Zamora to the point of panic.”
This case has continued to be important in UFO research, and occasionally finds itself back in the news. In 2009, a professor and former students from New Mexico Tech said they thought they might know who hoaxed it. They thought it was an elaborate tricked played on Zamora. However, they did not produce anything definitive.
In 2012, Zamora’s UFO sighting was memorialized by a mural in the town of Socorro. It is several hundred yards from the actual landing site.

The Socorro case has had a lasting effect on locals and those interested in the UFO phenomenon. 50 years later, Zamora’s experience still makes us wonder. I have a feeling that 50 years from now there will still be interest, along with new articles by people in the future still wondering what the heck Lonnie saw out there in the lonely desert.
