Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Authors claim that there is a connection between long delayed echos and reports that Nikola Tesla picked up a repeating radio signal in 1899 which he believed was coming from space. The satellite explanation originated in 1954 when newspapers including the St. Louis Post Dispatch and the San Francisco Examiner ran stories attributed to UFO researcher Donald Keyhoe saying that the US Air Force had reported that two satellites orbiting the Earth had been detected. At this time no man-made satellites had been launched.
In February 1960 there was a further report that the US Navy had detected a dark, tumbling object in an orbit inclined at 79° from the equator with an orbital period of 104.5 minutes. Its orbit was also highly eccentric with an apogee of 1,728 km (1,074 mi) and a perigee of only 216 km (134 mi) At the time the Navy was tracking a fragment of casing from the Discoverer VIII satellite launch which had a very similar orbit.
In 1973 the Scottish writer Duncan Lunan analyzed the data from the Norwegian radio researchers, coming to the conclusion that they produced a star chart pointing the way to Epsilon Boötis, a double star in the constellation of Boötes. Lunan’s hypothesis was that these signals were being transmitted from a 12,600 year old object located at one of Earth’s Lagrangian points.
An object photographed in 1998 during the STS-88 mission has been widely claimed to be this “alien artefact”.

De X-Files van Australië: UFO tilt auto op en verbijsterende graancirkels
Het gezin Knowles was van plan te verhuizen van Perth naar Melbourne in de hoop daar werk te vinden. Na een bizarre UFO-waarneming maakte het gezin rechtsomkeert. Dat meldt de Australische krant The Advertiser.
De lichtgevende UFO, die eruitzag als een ei in een eierdop, volgde de auto van het gezin en tilde het voertuig op een gegeven moment van de grond. In de lucht werden de stemmen van de gezinsleden vervormd en leek het alsof alles zich in slow motion afspeelde. Ze zeiden 200 kilometer per uur te rijden terwijl de auto werd gevuld met een zwarte as. Toen de UFO de auto ‘losliet’ kwam het voertuig zo hard neer dat één van de banden ontplofte.
Het incident, dat zich afspeelde op 20 januari 1988, haalde het wereldnieuws. Er werd in eerste instantie zo sceptisch op gereageerd dat het gezin besloot zich terug te trekken. Wetenschappers stelden twee mogelijke theorieën voor: de UFO was in feite een meteoriet of het licht van een koplamp werd afgebogen door warmere lucht die zich boven de koudere lucht bevond.
De as die in de auto was gevonden bleek afkomstig te zijn van de verbrande remvoering. Zoon Sean zei dat hij 200 kilometer per uur reed om te ontsnappen aan de UFO. Volgens de fabrikant kon de Ford Telstar op de weg nooit een dergelijke snelheid hebben bereikt.
In het boek ‘The UFO Report’ van Timothy Good staat echter dat het ‘stof’ in juli 1988 ook door dr. Richard Haines is geanalyseerd in het Philips Laboratory. Hij concludeerde dat stof op de bekleding van de auto verschilde van stofmonsters die aan de buitenkant van de auto waren genomen. Hij concludeerde ook dat stof uit de auto niet afkomstig was van het remsysteem. Het materiaal bevatte zout en astatium, dat van nature nauwelijks op aarde voorkomt.
Graancirkel
In december 1994 is Northfield in Zuid-Australië mogelijk bezocht door buitenaardsen. Op 9 december dat jaar zag Alison Light een graancirkel toen ze naar Adelaide vloog. Het stuk land waarin de formatie lag was eigendom van het Australische ministerie van Landbouw. De cirkel had een doorsnee van 15,3 meter en de halmen waren gebogen in plaats van geknakt.
Iedereen stond voor een raadsel. Er waren geen sporen te vinden van mensen die van en naar de cirkel waren gelopen. Het radiostation SAFM liet weten verantwoordelijk te zijn voor de formatie, maar toen de politie de daders wilde vervolgen zei een woordvoerder dat het station een grap had gemaakt.
Graancirkels worden al sinds de zeventiende eeuw gemeld. Ze lijken vooral te verschijnen in ontwikkelde westerse landen. Enkele dagen na de melding in Northfield werd de akker door het ministerie gemaaid zodat er van de graancirkel niets meer over was.
In 1961 waren drie mensen op zoek naar geodes voor hun cadeauwinkel in Olancha in de Amerikaanse staat Californië. Eén van hen trof een geode aan die er vreemd uitzag. Tijdens een aflevering van het tv-programma ‘In Search of…’ werd aandacht besteed aan het mysterieuze voorwerp, dat ook wel het Coso-artefact wordt genoemd.
Mike Mikesell, één van de drie individuen, zaagde de knol die aan de binnenkant begroeid is met kristallen met een diamantzaag doormidden. Hij deed een schokkende ontdekking. In de geode zag hij iets wat leek op een moderne bougie.
De geode kan tot wel 500.000 jaar oud zijn, honderdduizenden jaren voordat hoogontwikkelde beschavingen op aarde ten tonele zouden verschijnen. Virginia Maxey, één van de ontdekkers, zei dat een geoloog de fossielen rond het voorwerp had gedateerd op 500.000 jaar oud.
Pierre Stromberg en Paul V. Heinrich hebben geprobeerd te bewijzen dat de bougie in de jaren twintig is gemaakt en in een soort snelbeton is ingekapseld. De enige mensen die het voorwerp met eigen ogen hebben gezien zijn de drie ontdekkers en Ron Calais, die meent dat de geschiedenis van de wereld onjuist is.
Het artefact werd jarenlang bewaard in de woning van Wallace Lane, de derde ontdekker, maar volgens Stromberg en Heinrich liet hij anderen er niet bij in de buurt komen. Het is niet bekend waar het voorwerp nu ligt.
De naam van de geoloog die het object heeft gedateerd is nooit genoemd, waardoor sommigen vraagtekens zetten bij de betrouwbaarheid van de studie. Heinrich en Stromberg voegen echter toe dat ‘er weinig hard bewijs is dat de oorspronkelijke ontdekkers de intentie hadden om mensen te misleiden’.
De twee onderzoekers gingen met röntgenfoto’s die door Calais zijn gemaakt en tekeningen naar Chad Windham, voorzitter van de Spark Plug Collectors of America (SPCA). Volgens Windham gaat het om een Champion-bougie uit de jaren twintig. Toch zijn er de nodige verschillen tussen de Champion-bougie en het voorwerp in de geode.

UFO mania: Development on the ‘Lost City of Giants’ in Ecuador
In 2012, a team of explorers and researchers discovered what they believed to be an ancient pyramid complex in a remote area of the Ecuador Amazonian jungle, one not known to the general public internationally or even within the country. Bruce Fenton, author and researcher, believes the complex may be the ‘Lost City of the Giants’, so named for the large giant-sized tools that were found in the vicinity, as well as the local legends that speak of a race of giant humans who once inhabited the region.
At the discovered site there is one extremely large pyramidal type structure of approximately 80 metres square base and 80 metres height, with steeply inclined walls. This structure is made up of hundreds of large stone blocks, weighing approximately 2 tonnes in weight. The large hill has a flat area at the top where many artifacts have been found. “It looks like a paved wall, an ancient street or plaza with a 60 degrees angle, perhaps the roof of a larger structure. Many of the stones were perfectly aligned, have sharp edges and seemed to have been sculpted by human hands,” said Mr Duverneuil, who undertook an expedition to the site in April and May, 2013.
Between the blocks there is a hard bonding substance like cement or concrete, or some kind of vitrified material. Scattered around the area are a great many artifacts of stone and pottery. Many of these objects appear to be stone tools, some of which are extremely large and heavy and would have proven difficult for any normal sized human being to use in any practical fashion.
The size of the tools has led Fenton to suspect that this is one of the legendary lost cities of the giants, well known in local Ecuadorian legends about the Amazonian area. Such places generate great fear among the members of the indigenous inhabitants of Ecuador as they are believed to be protected either by spirit guardians or by beings not of this world. Local legends pertain to giant humans who lived in cities that have become forgotten in the pages of history. In fact bones of giant people have been found in caves in the area – as well as in other parts of Ecuador.
The government of Ecuador was informed of the discovery and later in 2013, an expedition was arranged through the Ministry of Culture, and included Ministry Police, archaeologists and researchers. Sadly, but perhaps unsurprisingly, the government team concluded that the site was a natural formation and not man-made, ruling out any government funded excavations, or preservation of the site.
Fenton and colleagues dispute their conclusion that the site is a natural formation, pointing out the rectangular blocks, bonding material between the stones, the precision of the stone work, and the discovery of the stone tools, as well as a number of large stones with circular holes cut right through the middle.
“There can be no doubt now that what we have here is the remnants of human habitation from a very ancient era,” wrote Fenton on his websiteEarth4all. “What we need to do now is have samples tested, dated, and examined by relevant experts.” Fenton and colleagues also hope to set up a museum in the nearest local village where artifacts can be safely kept and shown to researchers and the public. To this aim, they are seeking help in raising funds for the museum and for further research and exploration.
Two witnesses of a previous encounter, Joyce Bowles & Ted Pratt were to find themselves experiencing another close encounter with an alien species when her car was stopped by a pair of long-haired spacemen. Mr. Pratt was in the passenger seat and described them as having sandy hair and wearing dull metallic suits, and that they mentioned something about trying to ‘help mankind’—something about war. They said they were scared man would destroy himself and pollute the atmosphere. Then they just said goodbye and returned to their spacecraft. It soared away into the sky and disappeared out of sight. Joyce added that they said they would be back, but that she didn’t want any more. She felt like a marked person.

Joyce Bowles, 42, was driving to a farm together with Edwin Pratt, 58, when they saw an orange glow descend from the sky. The car began to shudder and shake and went out of control, careering off the road onto a grass verge at the right, where it stopped. Its headlights were now at four time’s normal intensity. 15 ft in front of the car they saw a glowing orange cigar shaped object 15 ft long, hovering 12-18” above the grass. It had a window at the top left, inside which they could see 3 men’s heads. Then a man emerged from the object, though they saw no door open, and walked toward the car. He was about 6 ft tall, slim, and wore a silvery one piece suit that looked like aluminum foil, with a seam or zipper down the front; he wore no helmet; his skin was pale, with long blond hair and a dark beard. When he reached the car he bent over and looked inside. He had a long, sharp pointed nose and piercing pink eyes “like a rabbit,” the whole eyes seemingly pink. The car’s engine then spontaneously started. After about 2 minutes he moved to the rear of the car and was seen no more; the object had meanwhile disappeared. The car then behaved normally, and afterwards it performed better than before the incident.

The Schwab family were attending a family get-together in the county of Wiltshire and while driving past the legendary Stonehenge monument they were shocked to the core by the startling sight of a “twelve-foot-tall thing, like a giant man,” standing in the middle of the road. Not surprisingly, Mr. Schwab brought the car to a rapid, screeching halt, and he, his wife and son watched amazed as a bright light from above suddenly enveloped the mighty being, and which “lit up and we could see it was like me and you, but twice as tall and in a silver suit and two big eyes.” Even more startling, the huge creature then began to slowly rise into the beam of light which, the three could now see, was “coming out of the bottom of a big square-shaped object in the sky, and black (in color) that hummed so loud and made us all feel sick.” Within seconds, the giant and the beam of light were gone, and he mysterious craft duly soared into the heavens, leaving the Schwab family wondering what on earth—or, very possibly, off it—had just happened.
Throughout the strange and irrationial history of Ufology there have been several tragic episodes in which belief is taken to another level and the end results are a sad footnote in this ‘forbidden’ field, the following episode is among the saddest of them all.

On this cold early morn…ing day, the mother of 13-year old Sergio Bayardi Porta after having called him twice to prepare for school heard a gunshot from inside his bedroom. Rushing in, she found her 13-year old lying on his bed in the middle of a puddle of blood. On the other bed his two younger siblings, Juan and Veronica were watching horror stricken. Soon everything descended into a chaos in this house located in Avenida 647, # 31, of the Unidad San Juan de Aragon, on the northern suburbs of Mexico City. While his brother and sister cried hysterically, his other attempted fruitlessly to wake up her son also yelling hysterically, while a crowd of panicked neighbors gathered outside not knowing what had occurred. Soon the Red Cross arrived, followed by the police and judicial agents. The paramedics could not do anything for Sergio, he had apparently died instantly. The judicial agents did find a letter written by Sergio and addressed to his mother. In the letter he explained his motives that made him take such a drastic decision and pull the trigger, shooting himself on the heart. According to reports Sergio was not a good student, but did not seem to have any personal problems. Like all the boys his age he was interested in sports. His mother has not known him to have had any girlfriends, but suspected that there was a young girl in school that liked her son. Apparently Sergio was fascinated with the subject of the paranormal. He avidly read the magazines that his father brought home, “Duda & Contactos Extraterrestres” both dealing with UFOs and other paranormal subjects, and were his favorites. Recently there had been a press announcement announcing the first International UFO Congress which was being held in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico from April 17 to the 21st. It is unknown how much influence this “UFO ambience” had on the young man, but it is suspected that it might have something to do with his premature death. Unfortunately no one investigated that angle. The afternoon newspapers the next day, March 18, included reports about the young suicide victim. The newspaper “Ovaciones’ on March 18 published a photograph of the letter left by Sergio to his mother, which among other things stated that he had taken the fatal decision of ending his life after having seen a ‘cloud or ship’ (nuve or nave) (his writing is not clear at that point). He added that his parents and other family members should not suffer his departure, since “I will be happy among these beings”. Finally he signed the letter and added his two initials. Following is the translated letter of Sergio Bayardi:
“Don’t think is my imagination or that I have gone crazy, dearest mom, they have already come to tell me. Yes, a small cloud (or ship) has come to tell me that they need urgently need me in the planet ‘Sonolcucld’ which is located at 3 ‘gloides’ from this galaxy. When the little ship or (cloud) told me that they needed me in the planet Sonolcucld, it actually did not tell me in words by it made from at top, and me standing under it asked it if in that planet all communications was made by sounds, just like the ones we use, but I asked it if it could tell me in my own language, and it then began to dictate to me, letter by letter, but it told me not to divulge the secret that I discovered of life and death for anything in this world, since if I did make the secret public, people would loose their religion, and their faith on themselves and would begin to kill each other off, thinking that it will be the only way to correct all their errors, since once they cross over everything that has been lived in this ‘dammed planet’ would be erased and only miniscule sparks of memory would remain behind, like the ones I had fondly with you mother, now be good with Juan and Veronica try to understand them as much as possible, treat them with kindness and do not never judge appearances, like you always judged me, maybe not always, but there were many times that you judged me, so like I say, try to understand them and their likes and needs of children so they could be called soon to another planet like me. Burn this letter after you read it.
A person were grilling near their cottage in a wooded area. One of the men was lying on a blanket on the grass about 5 meters from the others. The person was filming with the camera in her mobile phone. While reviewing the video, something bizarre caught her eye. Next to the tree on the grass something seemed to suddenly materialize; a humanoid figure about 70-80 cm in height which run to bend down and touch the tree with a sort of hand. No one knows what happened later since the frame moved toward the right and away from the scene. After a while a person that had been with them and had acted normally went to the location where the many was lying and acted nervously. Several days later three red spots appeared on the man’s knee, placed in the shape of a triangle. Humanoid video here:
The Arizona Daily Star recently posted a photo gallery of pictures taken in relation to a story by the Tucson Citizen about a UFO sighting in October, 1968 near the town of Gleeson. The UFO allegedly left scorch marks in the side of a local mountain.
The mining town of Gleeson, Arizona is nothing but a ghost town now, and it wasn’t much more than that in 1968 when Pearl Christiansen reported seeing several UFOs hovering over nearby Browns Peak. At the time, Christiansen was a 71 year-old retired school teacher who had lived in Gleeson since 1920.
She says that while she was on Browns Peak she saw several UFOs hover over the peak for four hours one night. She told the Tucson Citizen that eventually, “they seemed to back off into the Valley behind the peak.”
She said, “It looked as though there were a train of lights trailing from one side.” She described one of the UFOs: “There was a red band which turned wine in color, then turned purple, several minutes later it was gold.”
She says the UFOs did not frighten her, “I was happily excited about the beauty of the thing. I never was afraid. I had no fear – just excited.”

Witnesses said the UFO left burns on the side of the mountain. William Mayfield, the operator of the Gleeson Museum, examined the burned rocks and cacti in the area. He said the scorched rock was too hot to touch 48 hours after the incident. He also reported a “queer, acid-like smell” that was “nothing like our fuels smell.”

Some suggested that the burned areas could have been caused by strange rituals performed by a nearby “hippie camp.”
Inquiries were made to the nearest military base, which was the U.S. Army installation at Ft. Huachuca, but the reporter was told, “The Air Force has that responsibility.”

According the Arizona Daily Star, the town of Gleeson was home to the miners at the Copper Belle mine, which provided copper during WWI. However, the mine closed in 1930. The Gleeson post office closed in 1939, leaving Gleeson another deserted ghost town in the dry deserts of Arizona.

It is still a mystery today after all these years and after being researched by the internationally acclaimed UFO Hunters team from American and scientists at places like Manchester University in the UK.
Above: Jasmine, who was 7 years old at the time, was so spellbound by what she had witnessed that she soon took to painting it.
Dr Ted Acworth and Dr Grant Allen (Manchester University) discussed the UFO that I had photographed in Rufford. The object was moving, according to this detailed research and examination of camera shutter speed etc, at incredible rate. The estimated speeds of the tornado were around 80 mph, yet the UFO had motion blur, indicating much greater velocity of flight.
I later described the whole story in one of my books, UFO: the Search for Truth.
The Lancashire Evening Post somewhat amusingly called it all a ‘Tw- ystery’, due to the connection of a UFO being spotted close to a twister.
Ex MoD UFO expert (and Forward writer for my own UFO book) Nick Pope described the Rufford UFO as one of his most notable sightings in Lancashire.

Whether we like it or not, countless unsolved mysteries exist in the skies above us and we really do need to keep an eye peeled for unexplained goings-on.
In the UK, the media need to be a serious focal point for the public’s ongoing concerns about what is flying through our sovereign airspace. I have stated that point many times. This is particularly true now that the MoD has closed its UFO monitoring facility.
I accentuated this latter point again within the UK media recently.

It is now five years on since the Rufford UFO mystery happened and I have written several more books and many diverse articles concerning the international UFO axis.
I am currently working on a brand new manuscript, which will broach topics including: ufology, religious fundamentalism, Paganism and the paranormal.
In many ways becoming inadvertently involved with the UFO situation has thrown me into even more fascinating realms of subject matter.
To coin a vague phrase – I try to keep my head in the clouds and my feet firmly on the ground. Logic blended with deep passion for the unknown indubitably makes for an unusual blend at times.
On Tuesday May 27 at anywhere from 4:45 to 5 PM in the city of Sault St. Marie I observed four anomalous flying disks. Distance was approx. 2 km away. I was returning from a friend’s house riding my mountain bike in a southerly direction when I glanced up and noticed the four disk-shaped objects. The objects were flying/maneuvering in a southeast direction. Three was a bright, metallic silver and one was a metallic red/maroon color. The objects had no mechanical features that would have distinguished them as conventional craft. They were approximately 3 meters in size and were at an elevation of about 200 meters. The cluster was flying/hovering in formation. The bright red object would occasionally emit a pulsing or series of pulsing lights from its sides. At first I thought that they may be airplanes, or some other man-made objects, but as I observed the craft they were non-conventional. At the time of the observation I was moving, but then I stopped and looked at the objects for a further 10 seconds. The red disk was flashing and hovering. I then continued on my bike a few meters further to see if I could get a better unobstructed view and all four objects had disappeared. I called the city police to find out if anyone was flying model airplanes, or if anything else was flying in the sky, but they indicated in the negative. NOTE: The above image is a rendering.

A Michigan witness at Newberry recalled a late night incident when a silent, disc-shaped object hovering over a nearby potato field chased him through rural territory, according to testimony in Case 56940 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was riding his dirt bike home from work during the summer of 1984 across trails and back roads just about 11:30 p.m. when he noticed “multicolored lights just above the tree line” hovering nearby.

“I pulled onto South Airport Road shortly after midnight heading south, started going through the gears and noticed to my left something with multicolored lights just above the tree line hovering there,” the witness stated.
The witness was only about one-quarter mile along Old Airport Road when he stopped to watch the object floating over the potato field. But while he watched, the object abruptly moved toward him and began hovering directly overhead.
“It was round in shape, bright, multicolored lights on the perimeter, dark on the bottom and the lights inside of the object were like dash lights shining but much brighter. The windows appeared to go around the object but not totally sure about that. The size was about 50-75 feet across, but this is a guess. I was looking inside to see if I could see anything inside, but could not. All this happened within about 3-5 minutes time.”

As the witness watched, it occurred to him that the object was unlike anything he had ever seen and he became frightened. He quickly drove away.
“I looked back and there it was just above the trees chasing me. I looked back a second time and it was right there, shifted into 6th, looked back and it was gone. I got home and pulled into the driveway looking but not seeing anything above me, parked my bike went inside and never told anyone about what happened.”
The witness was afraid of ridicule if he recounted his story to friends and family.
“I thought if I told of what I had seen or experienced they would think it was a joke or I was crazy. It was about 20 years or so later that I had finally told my wife about what happened that night. I still to this day do not know what it was but I remember as if it was yesterday. I will more than likely never forget that night. It was cool and scary at the same time.”

Newberry is a village in Luce County, MI, population 1,519. Michigan MUFON is investigating. Michigan has a current UFO Alert Rating of 4 with a higher than average number of recent reports nationally. Michigan had 24 UFO reports in May 2014 – the 8th highest reporting state – while California had 102 reports as the highest reporting state. The above quotes were edited for clarity. The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 150 or more reports for the month are rated an Alert 1; states with 100 or more reports are rated an Alert 2; 25 reports or more for the month are rated an Alert 3; 13 or more reports are rated an Alert 4; and those states with less than 13 reports for the month are an Alert 5.
video Australische wetenschappers vermoeden dat een gigantische, drie meter lange witte haai, die in 2004 getagd werd met een gps-tracker, opgegeten werd door een mysterieus zeemonster. Mogelijk gaat het om een nog grotere 'superhaai'. Het onderzoek werd gedetailleerd gevolgd voor de documentaire 'Hunt for the Super Predator' die binnenkort uitkomt in de VS.
De vrouwtjeshaai Alpha verkeerde volgens onderzoekers in uitstekende gezondheid toen ze uitgerust werd met een gps-tracker. De verbazing was dan ook groot toen het toestel, gebleekt door maagzuur, vier maanden later op een strand in Australië aanspoelde. Slechts vier kilometer van de plek waar ze de haai hadden losgelaten.
De data op het toestel gaf een snelle temperatuurstijging (van 8 graden celcius naar 26) aan samen met een plotse, steile afdaling van 580 meter. De aangegeven temperatuur zou erop wijzen dat het toestel zich in het spijsverteringssysteem van een ander dier bevonden moet hebben. Volgens onderzoekers zou de haai daarom volledig opgegeten zijn door een gigantisch roofdier, mogelijk een nog grotere witte haai.
De documentaire van het Smithsonian Instituut, die binnenkort officieel uitkomt, is gebaseerd op een eerdere documentaire van ABC 'The Search for the Ocean's Super Predator'. Documentairemaker Dave Riggs verduidelijkte tegenover de Daily Mail dat hij niet wil verwijzen naar een soort mythisch wezen: "Dit is de natuur en we proberen gewoon te achterhalen wat er zovele jaren geleden gebeurde."
Geen zoogdier Hoewel orka's af en toe witte haaien aanvallen en zelfs doden, is het nog maar de vraag welk dier een haai van dergelijke omvang volledig opeet. "Als je naar het profiel kijkt van dit dier, heeft het een hoge inwendige temperatuur, maar niet hoog genoeg om een zoogdier te zijn. Hoe groter het dier, hoe beter het die temperatuur kan onderhouden", aldus Riggs.
"De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA moet de mens op Mars zetten", dat staat in een rapport van het Amerikaanse Congres te lezen. Maar om die doelstelling te verwezenlijken zal NASA heel wat steun nodig hebben.
Een bemande missie naar de rode planeet sturen is het streefdoel volgens het rapport. Maar het ruimtevaartprogramma zal de hulp van de andere internationale spelers hard nodig hebben. Een samenwerkingsakkoord met de Chinezen dringt zich op, maar een federale wet van de VS verhindert dat voorlopig. "De wetgeving voorkomt dat de NASA deelneemt aan bilaterale activiteiten met de Chinese ruimtevaartorganisatie", aldus het rapport.
Investeringen Het rapport pleit ook voor meer investeringen in de sector. Na het presidentschap van Kennedy en de Apollo-missies is het budget serieus naar beneden gedoken. Professor Howard McCurdy is gespecialiseerd in het ruimtevaartbeleid en is blij dat het rapport focust op de financiering. "NASA kan dit niet volhouden in de huidige structuur waar de overheid de grootste bijdrage levert", zegt McCurdy. "Maar dat wil niet zeggen dat er geen alternatieven zijn." Er moet meer samenwerking zijn met internationale spelers en de privésector volgens hem. De openlijke strijd tussen de ruimtevaartprogramma's van de VS en de Sovjet-Unie zorgde voor heel wat doorbraken in de vorige eeuw. Maar die drive is de NASA helemaal kwijt. De investeringen moesten wijken voor een begrotingsevenwicht. Die verloren drive is nooit echt teruggekomen en de huidige economische situatie leent zich niet tot massale investeringen in de ruimtevaart.
Langetermijnvisie onbestaande De Amerikaanse astronauten zijn de laatste jaren afhankelijk van Russische projecten om naar het ISS te reizen. De privésector lonkt naar een overname van die taxidienst van de Russen. "Een langetermijnvisie voor de bemande ruimtevaart buiten het ISS blijft voorlopig onbestaande", meldt het rapport. "Er is een consensus dat een bemande missie naar Mars een prioriteit is", reageert NASA. "Het ruimtevaartagentschap heeft aanzienlijke vooruitgang geboekt op een aantal belangrijke terreinen die nodig zijn om Mars te bereiken en we blijven samenwerken met de industrie en andere landen."
