Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Nieuwe leefbare planeet bevindt zich voor onze neus
Astronomen hebben een nieuwe planeet ontdekt waarop leven mogelijk is. Bovendien bevindt die planeet zich op 'overzichtelijke' afstand van de Aarde. "Er hoeven geen duizend jaren voorbij te gaan om te horen 'Hoe gaat het ginder?' en nog eens duizend jaren om te horen 'Prima, en ginds?'", aldus professor Steven Vogt aan news.com.au.
"De planeet ligt niet in onze achtertuin maar vlak voor onze neus", stelt Vogt. Daarmee bedoelt de wetenschapper: op 22 lichtjaren van de Aarde. Het gaat om de fameuze planeet Gliese 581g die de professor inmiddels herdoopte naar de naam van zijn vrouw: 'Zarmina's World'. De nieuwste studie van Vogts team verschijnt vandaag in het vaktijdschrift 'Astronomisch Naschrischten' en wil een antwoord bieden op de vele kritieken die Vogt kreeg na zijn eerste onthullingen bijna twee jaar geleden.
De planeet is twee keer zo groot als de Aarde. Wetenschappers van de University of California, Santa Cruz, en van het Carnegie Institution of Washington ontdekten haar. Ze werd bekend als 'Superaarde', omdat ze een gasrijke atmosfeer heeft die de kans op de aanwezigheid van vloeistof - en dus op leven - verhoogt. Of die vloeistof bevroren is en zich onder de bodem bevindt dan wel vrijelijk over de planeet vloeit, is nog niet duidelijk.
De temperaturen op de planeet zijn van die aard dat leven er alleszins mogelijk zou zijn. Maar hoe de planeetbodem er precies uitziet, dat kan het team van professor Vogt voorlopig ook nog niet zeggen.
Gliese 581g bevindt zich in 'Goldilocks Zone', een gebied niet ver van de Aarde dat niet te warm en niet te koud is. Net goed om leven toe te laten. Volgens Vogt zouden we, na het ontdekken van buitenaards leven op de planeet, een antwoord van onze tegenvoeters kunnen verwachten binnen de 44 jaar. "Over een paar honderd jaar zouden we beelden van een iPhone of Android-toestel kunnen ontvangen en kunnen luisteren naar hoe zij klinken en kijken hoe ze leven vanuit een ruimtetuig", beweert Vogt. "Er moet alleszins leven zijn daar."
Zoals gezegd kreeg Vogt veel kritiek voor zijn bevindingen, vooral van een Zwitsers team die bekend zijn als 'HARPS' (High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet). Zij deden de studies van Vogt af als "nonsens". Professor Steven Vogt slaat nu terug met de bewering dat HARPS bewust feiten achterhield die niet in hun wetenschappelijke kraam pasten.
Met de regelmaat van de klok worden nieuwe planeten en sterren ontdekt, maar wat astronomen van de universiteit van New South Wales recent aantroffen, was nog ongezien. Gliese 832c is een super-Aarde die amper 16 lichtjaren van ons verwijderd is - een steenworp in kosmische termen.
Volgens de nieuwssite The Verge wentelt de planeet rond een rode dwerg, een koele ster die weinig licht uitstraalt, met een massa en omvang die de helft bedraagt van die van onze zon. Gliese 832c heeft een omlooptijd van ongeveer 35 dagen en een massa vijf keer zo groot als die van de Aarde. Belangrijker is dat de planeet in de 'bewoonbare' zone van de rode dwerg cirkelt en dezelfde energie krijgt als onze Aarde van de zon.
Leven zou er in principe dus mogelijk zijn. De grote massa van Gliese 832 wijst er wel op dat de planeet een veel dichtere atmosfeer heeft dan de Aarde, wat het weer er heet en de seizoenen vluchtig maakt. De astronomen zijn er niet uit of de planeet nu een super-Aarde of eerder een super-Venus is.
Top-3 "Als de atmosfeer op de planeet gelijkaardig is aan die van de Aarde, is het misschien mogelijk dat er leven kan zijn", zegt professor Chris Tinney van de universiteit van South Wales aan Sci-News.com. "Maar de seizoenswissels zouden er extreem zijn."
Toch is Gliese 832c een van de meest Aarde-achtige planeten ooit ontdekt. "Wat massa en relatie met de ster betreft, zit de planeet in de top-3", schrijft Abel Mendez Torres van Planetary Habitability Lab's Blog. "Bovendien bevindt deze planeet zich van die drie het dichtstbij."

As it turns out, writer Henry Gayden’s (“Zombie Roadkill,” the upcoming “Children of the Lamp”) depiction of a small, owl-like alien robot might be a more likely candidate for first contact than most people would expect, said Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer at the seti Institute in Mountain View, California. Given the dynamics of interstellar travel, robots make sense, he said.
“Just about the time that you develop enough science or tech to fly to other planets and other stars… you begin to develop faster computers,” Shostak told Space.com. “If you believe the people working on artificial intelligence — they think we will have thinking machines by midcentury. That is just decades away.”

It might have aided a cover-up or possible ignorance and close-mindedness in the archaeology world that concepts of ancient astronauts and ancient aliens were applied to all the inconsistencies we see. We were told we did not travel the world in ancient times, and yet there are symbols and architecture and shared commonalities that do not jive with evolution of Homo Sapiens and their time line around the world, having exited Africa around 80,000 years ago. But, we cannot deny that there was a common influence around the world - the first civilization is my theory, or the "Originators." They did the hard evolutionary jump of basic knowledge for hundreds of thousands of years before us. We "Natives" came upon it and played with it, adopted it, tried to emulate it without understanding the knowledge that went into it (future Friday Vlog coming up on how we lost ancient knowledge). Like Planet of the Apes, I do believe we managed to try to adopt a prior branch of humanities knowledge. Our encounters with these Originators had us tattooing our skin, elongating our baby's heads and giving flesh sacrifices to these carnivorous cannibals. Whole religions were based on our love/hate relationship with these god people who were so advanced. All of our origins show our influences by the culture that was FIRST. The symbol most universally utilized is the spiral. Let's have a look at its influence on cultures around the world, many of them isolated by others before long-distance sea voyaging (for Homo Sapiens, that is).

In terms of the spiral shape, what does it mean? We tend to think of ancient man as very spiritual. In fact, the Originators (it is my belief), were way advanced. The spiral was the key to everything from the shape of our galaxy to the shape of the inner ear. In fact, this is significant because I believe they had an advanced knowledge born from hundreds of thousands of years ahead of us that led them to the knowledge that acoustics are the doorway to the universe.
The symbol of the spiral was universal sign for sound waves, for emanating, for the ongoing cycle of perpetual motion, for building megaliths, for achieving otherworldly interaction through sound waves, and even charting the heavens.

Arizona witness frightened as rectangle UFO moves over home
“I was so scared because it was flying so low and was unfamiliar. It just was on a flight path over my house coming from Snowflake, AZ, across, and on the way to Show Low. I started shaking and really didn’t know what to do. I was afraid it would land and I was home alone at the time.”
“The strange thing was that the back of the UFO also had the same huge white, pulsating lights on the back side of it as it was flying away. Well I am very used to seeing planes of all types out here in the mountains. An airport is 15 miles from here and it wasn’t an airplane. It wasn’t a passenger anything. I am 68 years old and have seen a lot of flying machines and pictures and videos of drones, but this was one of those.”
I took the day off yesterday and played a round of golf with my buds, Tom and Greg. We stank up the course and I was low man with a horrible 97. Why do I torture myself in this way?!? On the way home from flog—that’s golf spelled backward—I called my friend and co-producer of the Watchers series, Richard Shaw. He gave me the latest update on Watchers 8: Cloak of Secrecy. It’s being rendered and most likely it will go into production by Monday, which means we’ll start shipping most likely by the end of the month!
Our conversation switched to another topic, and Rick told me about a telephone call he had with an old friend. The man laughed out loud when Rick told him about Watchers 8, and some of the hard, scientific evidence we show in the film, in regard to the burgeoning UFO phenomena. Rick’s friend is a Christian. In other words if you sat him down and asked if he believed in the Virgin birth of the Messiah, Jesus, he would most likely without hesitation say, yes! If then you asked him about Jesus walking on water, he would promptly admit, yes he did! If then asked about Moses staff turning into a serpent, why sure it did, he would reply!
In other words, the three examples I gave above, all deal with the supernatural. It is real, as Christians we believe in it, yet there is a disconnect when it comes to the supernatural manifesting in our day. A perfect example is the first clip I posted above. The newscasters, who by the way, are reading from TelePrompTers, make light of their reporting, which has become standard fare in the American media. They go out of their way to poke fun at the UFO phenomena and the guy mimicking Rod Serling, is par for the course…. Sorry about that!
In the second story, we have a witness who is scared. Bully for him or her! They are frightened by the phenomena as they have no paradigm in which to embrace what they are looking at. This, in part, is due to the lack of real reporting about the UFO phenomena by a media who won’t treat the subject seriously, as is evidenced by the guy mimicking Rod Serling!
The Camp Pendleton sighting covered by the Newscasters is treated tongue-in-cheek, so as not to alarm anyone. Can you imagine what might happen if they took a more serious tone?
The second story, is from OPEN MINDS, which reports on UFOs. Which of the two stories is worthy of our consideration? Which one would you use to either confirm or debunk the UFO phenomena?
Back to Rick’s friend on the phone. The man, who claims to be a Christian and believes in the supernatural, at least on paper, has cognitive dissonancewhen it comes to the supernatural in the present day. Like the newscasters he laughs and pokes fun at what he doesn’t understand, what he hasn’t taken the time to investigate, but is so sure it’s all baloney.

When we examine Jesus words—men fainting from fear from what is coming on the earth—and recall what the witness stated in the Open Minds article: I was so scared, it becomes clear, at least in my mind, of what the future may hold.
In closing todays post. Something is coming! The UFO phenomena will, at some point, be the subject of every persons conversation on earth, once contact is made. How will we react? Will we fall for what I believe will be the party line, that these visitors are our benevolent space brothers? Will we embrace the marvelous new technology, or will you and I step back and recall the prophecies of Jesus who warned us of what would come. Rick’s friend most likely will be hiding under his bed, along with the mimicking newscaster!

Wetenschappers van de NASA en de Amerikaanse weerdienst NOAA zijn betrapt op het manipuleren van temperatuurgegevens om de ‘opwarming van de aarde’ te overdrijven. Blogger Steven Goddard van Real Science doet uit de doeken hoe de gegevens zijn bewerkt.
Als de ruwe data worden gebruikt, is er geen bewijs voor klimaatverandering. Er is dan zelfs sprake van klimaatafkoeling. Als de gegevens vervolgens worden bewerkt door middel van computermodellen, lijkt de ‘opwarming’ van de aarde in de twintigste eeuw ineens een stuk dramatischer.
Vóór het jaar 2000 was de algemene opvatting dat 1930-1939 het warmste decennium was in de Verenigde Staten. Voormalig NASA-wetenschapper James Hansen schreef in 1989 in een rapport: “In de VS is de temperatuur in de afgelopen 50 jaar, toen de concentratie broeikasgassen sterk steeg, weinig veranderd. Er was in grote delen van het land zelfs sprake van een temperatuurdaling.”
Hansen stelde zijn mening bij toen de stem van klimaatalarmisten na 2000 steeds luider begon te klinken. Hoewel de temperaturen in 1934 alle records verbraken, werd 1998 plotseling aangewezen als warmste jaar in de Amerikaanse geschiedenis.
Uit gegevens van de Amerikaanse milieubeschermingsdienst EPA blijkt echter dat de hittegolf in de jaren dertig een stuk heftiger was dan de hittegolven in de jaren tachtig en negentig. Ook buiten de VS is er geknoeid met temperatuurgegevens, van IJsland tot Australië.
Het feit dat vooraanstaande wetenschappers met gegevens knoeien en daarmee wegkomen is een opvallende tegenstrijdigheid in deze grote klimaatzwendel, aldus scepticus Christopher Booker. Toen hij voor het eerst onderzoek begon te doen naar de klimaatbangmakerij, was hij verbijsterd omdat keer op keer werd aangetoond hoe gerespecteerde wetenschappers de data manipuleerden.

On one occasion a Russian nuclear submarine, which was on a mission in the Pacific, ran into six unknown objects. After some time, the objects simply took off and disappeared into the air. The retired Russian submarine commander Admiral Yury Beketov said that he had many encounters with UFOs in the Bermuda Triangle.
UFOs most often seen in Caribbean and Bermuda Triangle. Beketov says that they noticed objects travelling at an incredible 426km/h on radar. This speed is even too fast for travelling on land, and when we take into account the pressure of the water, it seems these objects defy all the laws of physics. “There is one explanation: the beings that made them have certainly surpassed us,” he says.
The former Russian intelligence official Igor Barklay says that UFOs were often seen in the Caribbean, in the deepest parts of the ocean. Besides that, they appeared in the Russian Baikal Lake, known for its great depths.
A fisherman witnessed such an object, who says that a strong light came out of the depths, and then the object came out of the water. During an exercise in 1982, military divers at the Baikal Lake noticed humanoid beings in silver suits at a depth of around fifty metres. They tried to catch them, but did not manage to.

Just for a moment, imagine, a universe awash with life, where we humans are not the only intelligent beings around. What might these alien races look like?
Could we communicate with them, or even recognize them as intelligent? And what would they make of our violent and dangerous species? Might they take one look, and decide not to bother with such primitive beings? A planetary nursery filled with spiteful, galactic infants.
On the other hand, in our imaginary scenario, they may enrich us with scientific knowledge beyond our imagination. Or could an encounter with aliens have a more destructive outcome?

In recent weeks, information has surfaced on the Web about an alleged U.S. Government military project called “Project SERPO.”
We’ve all heard about reports of unusual and unconventional secret government projects. Some of them seem so far out that you wonder if they are real or an “urban legend” floating around.
Yet, many of us understand that people within our government and our military sometimes face unusual and strange phenomena in the course of their duties.
According to a mysterious source’s comments on a recently-developed Web site, Project SERPO was an effort developed between the late 1940s and the mid-1960s. It was a joint project between the U.S. Government and a race of friendly beings from a planet in the Zeta Reticuli star system.
The source claims that diplomatic relations were established between the U.S. Government and these beings after their spacecraft crashed in New Mexico in 1947.
Aw, give me a break, you may say. What have these people been smoking – medical cannabis or something?
We’ve heard and read about unconventional government projects before such as “remote viewing” intelligence-gathering methods, time-travel physics research, psychological studies on “magic mushrooms,” unusual non-lethal weapons and similar efforts. But relations with visitors from another planet?
That’s not all. Information on SERPO describes a project that selected and trained a joint-service U.S. military team to board a spacecraft of these visitors and go to their home planet for a planned ten-year stay. And, that in the mid-60s, this was successfully accomplished. Most of the team members returned and were debriefed.
Remember the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind?” Remember when the government teams set up a landing zone for the “visitors” and how Army Special Forces personnel assisted with covert logistics? In addition, the information posted there and elsewhere indicates that the government has been struggling since the 1940s to figure out how to break this kind of information to the general public without creating anxiety and negative disruption. According to the information, various efforts have been underway over the decades to gradually prepare us for this reality.
Well, do you buy it? It would make a good novel or movie, that’s for sure. Is it possibly true or is it just someone’s imagination and a bunch of warmed-over stories from movies, writings and UFO lore?
If there was some truth to it, how would Americans and the rest of humankind react?
Would we have open minds and hearts toward friendly visitors?
Would we be afraid?
Would we feel intimidated if they had more advanced technology and knowledge?
Would we hate them because they look different and have different beliefs?
Undoubtedly, it would add more complexity to our view of things. Not only do we have trouble getting along with other countries and other people who are different, now we would really need to be tolerant and open-minded. And, are there other kinds of "visitors" who are not quite so friendly, or even dangerous in some way?
This could explain why our government officials might have thought it wise to keep information like this from the general public.
According to information on the serpo.org site, there are responsible people in and out of government who may now believe that the time is right for more gradual disclosure of information about this situation. These people, people with compassion and vision, could feel that we might now be ready to obtain some understanding of the situation and react responsibly and with intelligence.
Of course, it could all be bunk. There may be no truth to it at all. Probably not. Right?

Hi all:
I have had my share of coincidences. I believe I had one again just recently. This weekend I received a message from Robert Hastings informing me of his Tribute article re the late Terry Hansen at the UFO Chronicles website, which I shared with you. Terry's sudden passing is really sad news. However, when I looked at my library I noticed that Robert Hastings' 2008 book "UFOs and Nukes" and Terry's 2000 book "The Missing Times" happen to be side by side. And near the end of Vallée's 2011 TED presentation dealing about general relativity, quantum mechanics, the Missing Child, the physics of energy and information, the concept of time (as a dimension) and coincidences, Jacques said something about libraries showing a picture of one. And talking about libraries, especially mine, I have just noticed that Jacques Valléé's 2010 book "Wonders in the Sky" which he co-wrote with Chris Aubeck and Jonathan Margolis' 2013 book "The Secret Life of Uri Geller" are also side by side. Jacques mentioned Uri Geller in his presentation. In fact, Jacques' book is between the Uri Geller book and the 2003 kids book "What Really Happened in Roswell" written by Kathleen Krull. A wondrous tale, don't you think, but one which is very real. I thought it was worthwhile sharing this factoid. ;) Enjoy his presentation!

TEDxBrussels - Jacques Vallée - A Theory of Everything (else): The Missing Child
A group of young people spotted a colorful UFO and recorded its strange activity on video in La Serena City, northern Chile.
The video was recorded in a popular tourist destination at the La Serena beachfront promenade La Avenida del Mar. The recorded video was reported by a Chilean news site describing the unidentified flying object as a small yellow light travelling across the sky at different speeds and at different altitudes.
The video shows the UFO quickly changing altitude. UFO Digest further reported that the voice of one of the witnesses can be heard saying the UFO lands in a bare lot on the beach and ascends again after.
The mysterious aerial object demonstrates several color changes as it moves across the horizon. It flies directly over the witnesses’ heads.
Experts in video editing confirm that the video is real and not edited to change the depiction of the object. However, no one could confirm if the UFO is extraterrestrial or terrestrial. Some commenters believe that the area has been visited or monitored by aliens for some unknown reasons.
Meanwhile, skeptics say that the UFO has a very terrestrial identification. These people point out that the movement and colored lights of the unknown aerial object are consistent with a remote-controlled craft, like a modern quadcopter.
One of the commenters say that indeed aliens are ignoring humans and they just fly over for whatever reasons. Perhaps, they consider humans harmless in a sense these aliens are too advanced for them to care about mankind.
For all of the time we spend researching and documenting our past, there are still many questions left unanswered. Our ancestors left a lot of traces in this world, and not all of them were ever meant to be understood by other cultures. Despite our best efforts, they remain mysteries to this day.
These three small stone tablets, found in a Romanian village, might feature the earliest form of writing ever discovered.
Most archaeologists used to agree that several regions developed writing independently between 3500 and 3100 B.C. The earliest examples we could find showed photo-writing from cultures such as the Sumerians in Mesopotamia. However, if the Tartaria tablets are genuine, then they predate the other discoveries by 2,000 years.
In that case, the earliest writing belongs to the Vinca civilization, a Neolithic culture present throughout southeastern Europe between 5500 and 4500 B.C. Various other artifacts from that era belonging to the Vinca culture have been found, also with symbols on them.
The mystery regarding the tablets comes from their age. Initially, museum employees baked the clay tablets to better preserve them. The process rendered accurate carbon dating impossible. So at first, they appeared to be from around 2700 B.C. Only recently have newer tests suggested that they are much older.
The Blythe Intaglios are a collection of dozens of geoglyphs found in the Colorado Desert near Blythe, California. They show various representations of animals, geometric shapes, and giant humans, the largest depicting a 50-meter (170 ft) man. The true scope of the geoglyphs was unknown until 1932, when it was viewed from the air.
Based on their location, they were likely constructed by the Quechan or Mojave Indians. The etchings are supposed to represent important figures from these respective cultures. Two, for instance, are thought to represent Mastamho and Kataar, two creator deities found in Mojave culture.
But we still know remarkably little about the carvings for certain. They could have been made as long as 10,000 years ago or as recently as 450 years ago.
3. The Death Of Alexander The Great
Even though Alexander the Great is one of the most famous and most well-documented figures of the ancient world, a lot of mystery surrounds his death. Most experts agree on the time and place—June 10, 323 B.C. at the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II in Babylon. The cause of death, however, remains far from certain.
For a long time, we thought Alexander was poisoned. Viable suspects abounded—his generals, his wife, his half-brother, and more. All we know for certain is that Alexander fell ill suddenly and spent two weeks in bed with ahigh fever and abdominal pains before dying.
Yet his death may have been the result of an illness instead of foul play. This still leaves many potential candidates to explain the symptoms: viral hepatitis, pancreatitis, endocarditis, or maybe something else altogether. Recent theories also suggest that he could have been the victim of an infectious disease like typhoid or malaria.
Even more mysterious is how his death was foretold by the Chaldeans, who warned him he would die if he entered Babylon. Not only that, but Calanus, an Indian philosopher who accompanied Alexander’s army, told the young conqueror on his own deathbed that the two would meet again in Babylon (this at a time when the army was headed nowhere near the city).
2. The Minaret Of Jam
The Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan is admired by many for its beauty and complex design. The 64-meter (210 ft) tower is still in good condition today, even though it was built sometime in the 12th or 13th century using baked bricks. The intricate decorations and inscriptions are still clearly visible. This alone was enough to get it declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The unknown date of the minaret’s construction makes its purpose a unclear. An inscription notes when it was built, but it cannot be read with certainty. We just know the tower was built by the Ghorid Dynasty at the height of its glory, when it ruled over parts of modern Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India.
The most intriguing theory regarding the Minaret of Jam is that it might have belonged to the lost city of Firozkoh. Also known as the Turquoise Mountain, the city was the capital of the Ghorid Dynasty and one of the greatest cities in the world. But it was completely destroyed by Ogedei Khan, son of Genghis, and its location was forever lost.
1. The Emerald Tablet
The Emerald Tablet remains the most mysterious item on this list because, unlike the others, it does not exist anymore. We do not know its author, origin, or location. We do not even know exactly what it looked like.
All we know is that the first documented mention of the Emerald Tablet dates to an old Arabic book sometime between the sixth and eighth centuries. The earliest Arabic translations claim that the original text was inancient Syriac. The first Latin translation of the text appeared in the 12th century, and multiple other translations have been made since then (including one by Sir Isaac Newton).
The text is considered the most important document in the field of alchemy. It is prized by alchemists because it supposedly presents information regarding the philosopher’s stone, a substance able to turn base metals into gold. But despite allegedly holding such valuable information, nobody has ever successfully used the Emerald Tablet to achieve that alchemical feat.

Our Ancestors and the Binary Solar System
There are presently nine known planets in the solar system. It is possible that a tenth planet, referred to as “Planet X,” exists and is waiting to be discovered.
Soon after German astronomer (a scientist specializing in the study of matter in outer space) William Herschel discovered Uranus in 1781, scientists noticed that Uranus was changing direction from its predicted orbit. This led them to hypothesize that there was another planet out there, the gravitational field of which was tugging at Uranus. The next planet, Neptune, was discovered in 1841 independently by English astronomer John Couch Adams and French astronomer Urbain Leverrier. The existence of Neptune, however, was not able to totally explain Uranus’s orbital disturbances. Neptune showed movement away from its predicted orbit, as well. The search for Planet X continued.
7,200 years ago, during the cataclysm known as “Noah’s flood“, “sudden changes in temperature, violent storms and water avalanches from Antarctica broke off from their ‘ice prison’ Dr. John T. Hollin at Maine University (U.S.A.) considers that large pieces periodically came out of the Antarctic ice field creating a huge tide” (Zecharia Sitchin, The Twelfth Planet).
3,600 years ago, during the Jews’ Exodus from Egypt in the middle of the second millennium B.C., the Earth suffered big cataclysms. “A celestial body that recently entered our solar system – a new comet – came very close to Earth causing the eventual disappearance of the glacier layer“ (Immanuel Velikovsky, “Worlds in Collision“).

Asteroid defense is an objective that requires multifarious resources, and the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) should not be alone in dealing with it, Roscosmos head Oleg Ostapenko said.“This mission can be accomplished only if we use the entire potential of our country. Everyone has one’s own capacities. We will tackle this problem together. By the way, we are working jointly with the Russian Academy of Sciences. We have made an appointment with Vladimir Fortov,” Ostapenko said.
The media said an asteroid would fly past the Earth 19 years from now and the planet could be jeopardized.
“We may be interacting in these fields as well. This is an interesting subject,” Ostapenko said.
The astronomers of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory have discovered a 400-metre asteroid that may hit the Earth in 2032.
The minor planet, indexed 2013 TV135, was discovered on the sky of stars imagery by the Crimean Observatory on the 12th of this month. The discovery was later confirmed by Russian observatories in the Buryat Republic, in Siberia, as well as by Italian, British and Spanish astronomers, according to the RIA-Novosti news agency.
The celestial body measuring some 410 metres has been classified as a potentially hazardous asteroid (PHA), since the minimal distance between its orbit and the orbit of the Earth makes up 0.012 of the astronomical unit (1.7 million kilometres). Asteroids are seen as potentially hazardous if the PHA value is less than 0.05.
Besides, the preliminary trajectory measurements have shown that the probability that the asteroid may hit the Earth on August 26th, 2032, is 1/63,000. The probability is high enough to put the asteroid in class one on the Torino Impact Hazard Scale, which is the lowest rank meaning we’re running almost no risk, yet the risk is higher than zero.
Of the prominent asteroids, there is another one, 2007 VK184, which has also been ranked 1 on the Torino Scale. If the asteroid 2013 TV135 does hit the Earth, the force of the explosion is estimated to make up 2,500 megatons of TNT
Apophis was discovered on June 19, 2004, by Roy A. Tucker, David J. Tholen and Fabrizio Bernardi at the Kitt Peak National Observatory. On December 21, 2004, Apophis passed 0.0963 AU (14,410,000 km; 8,950,000 mi) from Earth. Precovery observations from March 15, 2004, were identified on December 27, and an improved orbit was computed. Radar astrometry in January 2005 further refined the orbit. When first discovered, the object received the provisional designation 2004 MN4, and news and scientific articles about it referred to it by that name. When its orbit was sufficiently well calculated, it received the permanent number 99942 (on June 24, 2005). Receiving a permanent number made it eligible for naming, and it received the name “Apophis” on July 19, 2005. Apophis is the Greek name of an enemy of the Ancient Egyptian sun-god Ra: Apep, the Uncreator, an evil serpent that dwells in the eternal darkness of the Duat and tries to swallow Ra during his nightly passage. Apep is held at bay by Set, the Ancient Egyptian god of storms and the desert. David J. Tholen and Tucker—two of the co-discoverers of the asteroid—are reportedly fans of the TV series Stargate SG-1. One of the show’s persistent villains is an alien named Apophis. In the fictional world of the show, the alien’s backstory was that he had lived on Earth during ancient times and had posed as a god, thereby giving rise to the myth of the Egyptian god of the same name. After the Minor Planet Center confirmed the June discovery of Apophis, an April 13, 2029 close approach was flagged by NASA’s automatic Sentry system and NEODyS, a similar automatic program run by the University of Pisa and the University of Valladolid. On that date, it will become as bright as magnitude 3.4 (visible to the naked eye from rural as well as darker suburban areas, visible with binoculars from most locations). The close approach will be visible from Europe, Africa, and western Asia. During the close approach in 2029 Earth will perturb Apophis from an Aten class orbit with a semi-major axis of 0.92 AU to an Apollo class orbit with a semi-major axis of 1.1 AU. After Sentry and NEODyS announced the possible impact, additional observations decreased the uncertainty in Apophis’s trajectory. As they did, the probability of an impact event temporarily climbed, peaking at 2.7% (1 in 37).This probability, combined with its size, caused Apophis to be assessed at level 4 on the Torino Scale, and 1.10 on the Palermo Technical Impact Hazard Scale, scales scientists use to represent how dangerous a given asteroid is to Earth. These are the highest values for which any object has been rated on either scale. The chance that there would be an impact in 2029 was eliminated by December 27, 2004. The danger of a 2036 passage was lowered to level 0 on the Torino Scale in August 2006. With a cumulative Palermo Scale rating of −3.2,[3] the risk of impact from Apophis is less than one thousandth the background hazard level. On April 13, 2029, Apophis will pass Earth within the orbits of geosynchronous communication satellites, but will come no closer than 19,400 miles (31,300 kilometers) above Earth’s surface. The 2029 pass will be much closer than had first been predicted. The pass in late March 2036 will be no closer than about 23 million kilometres (14×106 mi) — and will probably miss us by something closer to 56 million kilometres (35×106 mi). 2005 and 2011 observations In July 2005, former Apollo astronaut Rusty Schweickart, as chairman of the B612 Foundation, formally asked NASA to investigate the possibility that the asteroid’s post-2029 orbit could be in orbital resonance with Earth, which would increase the probability of future impacts. Schweickart also asked NASA to investigate whether a transponder should be placed on the asteroid to enable more accurate tracking of how its orbit is affected by the Yarkovsky effect. On January 31, 2011, astronomers took the first new images of Apophis in more than 3 years
