Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.
This is our new dog Kira, a cross between a water dog and a Podenko. She has been with us since February 7, 2024 and is busy winning our hearts. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who quickly adapted to us within a week. She is very quick and curious, a very different dog than Noleke.

1. What was your prime motivation and inspiration to create your new book, “Crop Circles, Jung, and the Reemergence of the Archetypal Feminine”?
It’s very exciting to discover the abundance of science and archival historic record that demonstrates that there’s a genuine mystery before us (that’s chapters 1 and 2 of the book) and that’s fun to share, but the key to my interest is the psychological/symbolic meaning of the phenomenon in general. Much of what I look at is what’s there for us in terms of meaning that we’re not grasping. My work is about offering a platform by which readers can deepen their own appreciation of the meaning of this mysterious phenomenon.
2. What is your perception on Crop circles and how they are possibly created and the symbolism they portray?
I look at the mystery of Crop Circles as though it were a dream and the world is the dreamer–how then when we look for meaning? There’s many people out there looking for so-called solutions (or excuses to explain away the phenomenon) but very few looking toward how we might best approach it’s meaning for us today. The science and history of the phenomenon make clear that there is an Other that is creating Crop Circles, who or what that Other is, is not my prime interest. I’m interested in how we receive the phenomenon or fail to do so, how much of ourselves, our whole selves (including our heart, imagination and courage), do we bring to our reception of it?
Approaching the symbolic meaning of the phenomenon there are two primary constituent elements: circle & grain. Jung made clear that inside the human psyche, the circle is the most basic form of the mandala image, the Self, that part of us that seeks our growth, our connection to inner source and our recovery from imbalance. Grain is strongly associated with the archetypal Feminine, the miracle of life, the seed which dies and is reborn, the wonder of the expression of life throughout Nature. Our culture has lost it’s connection to this energy and instead lives in an imbalance toward archetypal Masculine ways of knowing that emphasize separation, objectivity and linear solutions. This imbalance has us very high on ourselves and imagining that we have all the answers and effectively allergic to mystery. As this profound imbalance is the dominant illness of our time, it’s no wonder that we face an expression of mystery in a media which symbolic of the archetypal Feminine.
3. How does Jung fit into your research and could you share some thoughts on him with us?
While the book is for general readership, it’s also an exercise in applied Jungian psychology. I explain Jung’s concepts in a way that everyone can understand and use the depth of his work to open up the deeper possibilities of meaning inherent in Crop Circles. Jung tells us that plant symbols point in “downward way, yin, the earth and the darkness of humanity” and that “the most profound problem afflicting the human psyche [is] an imbalance which favours masculine principles and archetypes over feminine ones.” Those two quotes alone point us in a meaningful direction.
In addition, I was led to discover documents which come as close as we’re ever going to get to discovering how Jung himself would’ve interpreted Crop Circles. After I finished writing a Master’s thesis on this topic, I found, on a dusty shelf in a Santa Barbara library, a pamphlet which contained dream images painted by Irene Champernowne, an art therapist in the English countryside, in 1951 which depict a UFO, feminine figures and swirling grain. Irene’s dream paintings were interpreted primarily by Toni Wolff (Jung’s closest companion) and later by Emma and Carl Jung. All felt that there was something deeply profound about the images and Carl chose one of them to be the cover of his book on UFO’s. Toni’s interpretation addressed the shift in the ages that we’re living through today and the need for a renewed contact with the archetypal Feminine.
4. Would you explain what you mean by the Reemergence of the Archetypal Feminine?
The archetypal Feminine and Masculine refer to psychological qualities that are inherent throughout Nature. Some prefer the term Lunar and Solar (or yin and yang). All of us, men and women alike, carry these both of these qualities and each of them has a shadow expression. While we can never fully express or exhaust the possibilities in an archetype, we gain sight of them very often through their polar differences. So, in the case, we can see the Masculine in its preference for separation, distinction, objectivity and the Feminine for connection, context, depth, feeling and mystery. The Masculine prefers certainty, knowing and solutions. The Feminine is able to hold all the pieces even when they don’t fit easily into a linear package. Both are required for psychological health.
Today our relation to the Feminine is a shadow one. The wonder of the miracle of life is repressed in us, denied in most of our cultural institutions and rarely honoured. Our children believe that food ‘comes from’ the store. Our Thanksgiving celebrations are closely related to the orgy of materialism that is holiday shopping. In Latin, mater means mother and that word is the root of the English words matter and materialism. We can see our shadow hunger for connection to the archetypal Feminine in our inexhaustible compulsive materialism. A healthy connection to this energy would require an authentic, full bodied emotional creative participation with that quality–a genuine heartfelt giving of thanks for all that we receive.
I believe the Feminine to be reemergent in the life of our time through increasing interest in things which exist outside of dominant cultural boxes and things which bring us into the body and take us into the mystery. The explosion of yoga and tantra, for example, and all of the interest in synchronicity and the apprehension of meaningful patterns throughout Nature.
5. I have to hear your thoughts on alien life.I have had some pretty significant UFO experiences in my life after being healed from cancer and my father’s death. I talk a lot about this on my show The Church of Mabus and books I’ve written. What is your perspective on alien life visiting Earth and society’s perception of this?
As a young child I witnessed a UFO with my grandmother that was on the front page of our local paper the next day and seen by thousands in our town. I believe, along with the vast majority of the human race today, that alien life is real. The question for me is–what do we mean when we say alien life? I pose that question to you and to everyone that reads my book or attends my talks. What do you really believe about aliens? Are they spiritual, physical, dimensional? Our era offers us no leaders with answers to all of our questions, it’s down to each of us to have our own journey. However, I often see people using their preferred answers to avoid doing the work of really sitting with the questions.
6. Could you share some more thoughts on researchers and Crop circles and what your findings have been and what their struggles consist of?
In the beginning of my book, I give thanks to the many researchers who’ve dedicated their lives and fortunes to pursuing this mystery. Most have given more than they’ll ever get back.
One of the most interesting things that we see in the experiences of Crop Circle researchers are synchronicities between them and formations. Occasionally, during their deepest moments of emotional engagement with the phenomenon, a new formation appears to arrive in response to it. When one of them couldn’t afford to pursue the formations all over England one summer, he got a formation close to his home. When another cried out “why can’t this phenomenon be more direct?”, she received an eyewitness experience. There are more many examples like that and the key unifying feature is the presence of deep emotion.
So we see before us something beautiful, often containing an inner sacred geometry, a question artfully-posed. But who is posing it and why? It would seem that their creator cares about us? Does your view of extraterrestrial life include an answer as to whether or not such beings care about us? If we imagine that we live in a world that doesn’t care about us (as our dominant cultural institutions tell us) then we won’t see reality as having any heart. I believe the quest of our era is the struggle for the recovery of the heart.
7 What are you up to next book wise or projects wise and any links you’d like to share?
Today our culture is on the edge of knowing objectively that we live a world in which consciousness is an ever-present field (like gravity). On the night of October 21, 1978 Frederick Valentich radioed into air traffic control in Melborne with some strange news. An unidentified metallic craft was toying with his Cessna as he flew over the Bass Strait en route to King’s Island. No one ever saw him or his aircraft again.
It all happened during the largest wave of UFO sightings Australia had ever seen. Over fifty reports were uncovered from the area of Valentich’s disappearance on that day alone. Some reported classic cigar-shaped craft while others saw a “starfish-shaped” object with lights that looked like “silver rain.” Electronic interferance was noted in a number of these reports.
Some witnesses even said they saw a “green light” shadowing Valentich’s aircraft on the night in question (take note of that for later).
Valentich left a looming legacy of his final moments with a this bizzare yet compelling radio transmission:

DSJ: My intentions are – ah – to go to King Island – ah – Melbourne. That strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again (open microphone for two seconds). It is hovering and (open microphone for one second) it’s not an aircraft.
FS: Delta Sierra Juliet.
19:12:28 DSJ: Delta Sierra Juliet. Melbourne (open microphone for seventeen seconds).
These final seventeen seconds of open transmission revealed only a “metallic, scraping sound” on the Melbourne Service Unit’s tape recording. Despite analysis by a former NASA researcher and the Royal Melbourne Institue of Technology, these sounds remain a mystery.

Many theories have come forward regarding Frederick’s fate. Some suggest suicide (although he was by all accounts a content man), others a faked death to collect on life insurance (yeah, like I’ve never heard that one before), and of course others that he was disintegrated or abducted by the UFO.Frederick’s father, Guido Valentino, actually found some consolation in the abduction theory after his son’s out-of-this-world disappearance. According to the AP, “He hoped his son had been taken by a UFO and had not crashed. ‘The fact that they have found no trace of him presents a possibility that UFOs could have been there.’”
The final piece of this puzzle is the photograph taken by Roy Manifold. He had set up a timelapse camera to capture the sunset off the coast, but found something strange when developed. There appeared to be an unexplained object with an “exhaust cloud” in one of his pictures. According to Roy, these were taken just 20 minutes before Valentich’s last transmission. Experts at an Arizona-based UFO organization analyzed the photos and concluded that the object must be moving at 200 mph, or hovering stationary while the clouds zoomed past at that speed (an equally puzzling feat). Below is an enhanced version of the original photograph, provided for your scrutiny.
Could this be the UFO that kidnapped Frederick Valentich?
In a recent interview with ABC Sydney, Shirley MacLaine says she took former Australian Ambassador to the United States Andrew Peacock UFO spotting, and they did indeed spot UFOs.
MacLaine is headed to Australia to perform her live one-woman show, in which she shares stories of the golden era of Hollywood. However, before her trip, she appeared on ABC radio in Sydney for an interview about her upcoming show and other topics. Lucky for us, one of those topics was UFOs.
MacLaine is well-known for her UFO and paranormal interests, and has gone UFO spotting with many prominent people. Perhaps the most famous being the UFO she saw with Dennis Kucinich. When asked about the sighting during a presidential debate, Kucinich didn’t deny it, instead he replied, “You have to keep in mind that more people in this country have seen UFOs than I think approve of George Bush’s presidency.”
It was a witty comeback, but not witty enough to overcome the negative stigma attached to UFOs, and many cite that debate as the end of his already slight to nil chance at the U.S. presidency.
Peacock is no longer in politics and has been retired since 2007, so MacLaine’s revelations will hopefully not affect his life negatively.
As for the sighting itself, MacLaine says she took him to a volcano in Mexico where there are frequent UFO sightings.
The ABC announcer asked, “Is it true though, Shirley, that you took Andrew Peacock, our former foreign minister, that you took him UFO spotting?”
MacLaine replied, “Yes. We went to Mexico to Mount Popocatépetl, because they were having so many UFO sightings, and we don’t know, really, why. But we saw them, and he did too.”
The ABC announcer then asked, “How did Andrew Peacock respond to the sighting of a UFO?”
MacLaine said, “He was very open to everything. I tried to get him to talk about Alice Springs and things like that, but he was very loyal to his foreign service oath of secrecy.”

Alice Springs, presumably, is referring to a satellite tracking station commonly known as Pine Gap, about 11 miles southwest of Alice Springs. It is run by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and used for global surveillance. Or so they say. Some suspect that it has ties with secret UFO research, or perhaps even alien technology.
MacLaine did not give details as to what she and Peacock spotted on the radio program. In her book, I’m All Over That, published in 2011, she wrote of the sighting, “On a UFO stakeout in Mexico near Mt. Popocatepetl, at one moment we thought we saw a craft and Andrew nearly ‘climbed the sky’ to see if it was real.”
In her book, MacLaine says her relationship with Peacock was her “longest-lasting relationship with a political leader.”
She says, Peacock never told her UFOs had anything to do with extraterrestrials, but he also “said and did nothing to disabuse me of such a belief.”
MacLaine wrote, “When I told him about Roald Sagdaev [former head of the Soviet space program] having confirmed that UFOs and the presence of ETs were real, he just smiled. When I told him I had gone to see Jimmy Carter to discuss UFOs, he just smiled again. Andrew was a trained diplomat of the first order and was his own best intelligence gatherer. He was learning more about the subject of UFOs from me than I was learning from him.”
What does Peacock know? Exactly what did they see at Popocatépetl? We will have to wait until MacLaine’s next exciting UFO interview to find out. I have been hoping that one day one of those interviews will be with me!

In 2012 doken er bizarre beelden op uit IJsland van een vreemd wezen dat in een meer zwemt. Het had iets weg van een gigantische slang. De beelden werden gemaakt bij Lagarfljót, een meer in IJsland dat ongeveer 40 kilometer lang is. Het beschikt net als Loch Ness in Schotland over een legendarisch dier, al valt de naam net als de IJslandse vulkanen amper uit te spreken: Lagarfljótsormurinn.
In hun boek ‘Icelandic Folk and Fairy Tales’ onthullen May en Hallberg Hallmundsson de oorsprong van het meermonster: Lang geleden woonde een vrouw op een boerderij in het district Lagarfljót, vlak bij een stroom die uitmondt in het meer. Op een dag gaf ze haar dochter een gouden ring. Ze instrueerde haar dochter een slang te vangen en de gouden ring onder het dier te leggen in een linnenkast. Na een tijd was de slang zo groot dat de kast uit elkaar begon te vallen. Het meisje was zo bang dat ze het dier in het meer gooide.
Twee dappere monsterjagers uit Finland kregen de opdracht het meermonster te doden, maar slaagden daar niet in. Wel wisten ze het wezen aan de bodem van het meer vast te ketenen, zodat het niet langer mensen of dieren kon afslachten. Af en toe komt de rug van het beest nog boven het water uit.
Miisa McKeown, een Finse onderzoekster, analyseerde de videobeelden door onder meer te bepalen of het dier zich daadwerkelijk voortbewoog of een optische illusie was. Ze concludeerde dat het object niet stroomopwaarts bewoog en vermoedelijk vastzat aan een grote tak.
De lokale overheid stelde een commissie samen om te bepalen of de video authentiek is en of er bewijs is geleverd voor het bestaan van het legendarische meermonster. Het onderzoek is afgerond en volgens Iceland Review Online heeft een meerderheid van de commissie bepaald dat Lagarfljótsormurinn echt bestaat.
Hjörtur E. Kjeúlf maakte de video in februari 2012 vanuit het keukenraam van zijn boerderij in Fljótsdalur. De beelden gingen al snel de hele wereld over. Het filmpje is in totaal zo’n 8 miljoen keer bekeken en trok zelfs buitenlandse cameraploegen naar het meer.

Er is nog nooit zo veel zeeijs gemeten rondom Antarctica als nu. Uit satellietbeelden blijkt dat er bijna 20 miljoen vierkante kilometer ijs op de zee bij de Zuidpool ligt. Alleen al dit jaar is het record 150 keer verbroken, wat wijst op een opgaande trend.
De hoeveelheid zeeijs strekt zich uit over een gebied dat twee keer zo groot is als Antarctica zelf en ongeveer drie keer zo groot als Australië. Expert dr. Guy Williams van de Universiteit van Tasmanië sprak van een ‘spannende’ puzzel voor klimaatwetenschappers, meldt The Conversation.
Net als op de Noordpool schommelt de hoeveelheid zeeijs gedurende het jaar: in de winter groeit het aan, in de zomer smelt het voor een deel. “Die verschillen moeten ons iets gaan vertellen,” zei dr. Williams.

Volgens James Whitmore zijn er twee theorieën die de toename van het zeeijs kunnen verklaren. Het kan komen door de windrichting, die het ijs verder de zee op blaast, in plaats van naar het land toe. Daarnaast zou het zeeijs zich gemakkelijker kunnen vormen vanwege het koude en zoete smeltwater van smeltende gletsjers.
“We hebben vanuit de ruimte nog nooit zo’n groot gebied gezien dat wordt bedekt met zeeijs,” zei Jan Lieser van het Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre tegenover ABC News. “Vijfendertig jaar geleden konden satellieten ons voor het eerst vertellen welk gebied bedekt was met zeeijs. We hebben nog nooit zo’n grote hoeveelheid zeeijs gezien [rond Antarctica].”

Witness said: In the early morning hours of September 12, 2014, many people in California, Oregon, and Nevada all reported seeing highly unusual lights in the sky. All the eyewitness accounts are the same. A massive, intensely bright light was seen moving across the sky, with a large comet-like tail behind it. This was no meteor. The light was visible for 15-20 seconds. This means it was moving far too slowly to be a meteor. And the fact that it was seen in three separate states indicates that the object must have been very, very high up and very, very large.

Het Amerikaanse bedrijf Aerofex heeft een zweefmotor ontwikkeld die je met je knieën bestuurt. De bestuurder van de machine drukt met zijn gewicht tegen één van de stuurstangen, waardoor de zogeheten hoverbike van richting verandert. Volgens de fabrikant is dat een erg intuïtieve manier om het voertuig te besturen.
Tijdens een proefvlucht vloog de zweefmotor vijf meter boven de grond en haalde een snelheid van 80 kilometer per uur. Aerofex is niet geïnteresseerd in de productie van een onbemande versie. De bemande variant zou bijvoorbeeld in de land- of tuinbouw kunnen worden gebruikt.
Het bedrijf meent dat de machine een goede pakezel zou kunnen zijn in afgelegen gebieden. Hij is minder sterk dan een helikopter, maar door de ingesloten propellers – zogeheten ducted fans – wel een stuk veiliger.
Het is niet voor het eerst dat een hoverbike wordt bedacht. Het ontwerp stamt namelijk al uit de jaren zeventig. Enige tijd geleden presenteerde de Australiër Chris Malloy een luchtfiets met twee grote ventilatoren die een snelheid van 250 kilometer per uur en een hoogte van drie kilometer zou moeten halen.

MANY ORBS WITNESSED NEAR LONG BEACH NEW JERSEY SEPTEMBER 7, 2014 …. LONG BEACH NEW JERSEY
I have seen flying saucers since august 18, 1980. This was my 8th UFO experience, but I have never seen orbs, only spaceships. These were orbs, I think, not what I usually experience. I first noticed the object before dinner, but I just blew it off. We had dinner on the beach, overlooking the water. My wife noticed it after dinner, when we went to leave. I immediately saw a large bright light again, much brighter than the first time, approximately 45 earlier. I knew immediately what it was, a UFO. We just purchased a camera a few days before, and we went to the waters edge, and started filming. My wife did. The object, there were 4-5 of them, were extremely bright, varying in size from a pin head to a quarter. I estimate about half a mile to a mile away from shoreline. They moved independently, and went from bright small in size, to immensely bright and huge, maybe the size of a quarter. They moved up and down, remained stationary, and one of them went over land when big, over I would assume sandy hook area, 10-15 miles north of where we were.
There were 6-7 people on the beach watching and filming as well. It was amazing to see. My feelings…very excited, very controlled. I wanted to attract them, and stood in the light than ran across the water and did jumping jacks to attract it. It did not respond. The objects got extremely big and bright maybe 3-4 times. These actions unfortunately were not captured on video of photos. I told my wife to take video, to make sure we had it on video. I spoke to my cousin on the cell phone throughout part of the experience, because he knows of all the things I have experienced, and I was describing the scene to him as it happened. I am very lucky to have experienced what I have throughout my life. We never lost sight of the objects. We left after about an hour or so. We saw amazing detail of 2 orbs around a tremendous bright round light, sometimes two bright circles of light. Unfortunately, I do not know how to submit this to you right now, but will have my wife do so in the next few days to a week. You will be amazed, or maybe not, since this is probably common but it is amazing, and I would like an explanation as to what this is. I believe it is extra terrestrial. My wife thinks it was secret military craft, but she also said she did not know what it was. She does not believe in UFO’S, since she has never seen one, but then, she could not explain what we saw. NOTE: The above image is a rendering. KEN’S NOTE: This area has been very active with sightings over the years. Ft Monmouth is nearby and had a two mile dock that protrudes out into the bay. Military ships can be seen there often. The bay leads to the Varrazano Bridge and eventually Manhattan. Check it-out on Google Earth. Kisolava, Serbia, 1725 – Three days after he died, Peter Plogojowitz returned from the grave and showed up at his son’s door demanding food. His son fed him, but not the next night. This led to the deaths of his son and several villagers, who all suffered a loss of blood before their deaths. At Peter’s grave authorities found him with flush cheeks and blood covering his mouth. He was staked and burned, as were his victims.
From Mansfield Reformatory in OH: when we took this picture to show the unique design, we got an image in the background of what appears to be either a guard or houseboy (some of the good behavior prisoners were used to clean and help out in the administrative offices and the living quarters of the warden). We saw nothing when the image was taken and the area was clear of people while I took it.
This picture was taken at the Devil’s Den in Gettysburg… On 4-3-05. “There were not any reenactors there at that time. I made for certain that during my trip, I did not take any pictures of anyone dressed in Civil War era clothing because I was there on a ghost hunting trip.” (NOTE: the uniform is similar to those worn by West Point Cadets during the period…very odd)
Vampire Fangs – A small glass vial containing two forcibly removed vampire fangs. When St. Numerius would shake this vial the noise would tell nearby vampires that a successful vampire hunter was near.

This controversial video was a cellphone recording back in 2011. You can clearly see the appearance of a tiny creature while the mother was filming his son playing. According to Silvia, the mother, this little creature came out from the kitchen to the garden to escape, leaving behind a foul smell and a slight interference to the cellphone.
The family has always observed that the child was playing and talking to himself in his room and in the corners of the house to nap time, but had never worried because they thought that this was normal with his age. In January 2011, Benjamin was playing as always in the hallway when Silvia noticed a bit of nervousness in and decided to take out her cell phone to record his behavior when he watches “something” running in the background. He thought it was just a field mouse (very common in the area) … but then she saw the actual creature after slowing the video down. She panicked and called her husband, who was at work at that time. Several years had passed and they kept this secret until today, they decided to show this evidence for the world to see on the Internet for dissemination, while still respecting anonymity of the child and their entire family.
Things did not end there … Benjamin (now already 5 years old) is still “playing” with these entities over the years. The family had to endure the presence of these “Elves” while they may not seem aggressive, the smell they leave is unbearable and sometimes by night gives them chills.
This year, I started college, and in doing so, I got a roommate. My roommate is a great guy, and we’ve been friends since kindergarten.
However, like any human being on the face of the earth, living with him isn’t always easy. We’re four weeks in and some of his habits get on my nerves.
Nothing major, really, occasionally he’ll play music too loud or leave clothes lying around, but nothing I can’t deal with.
Except for this one habit he has: most nights, when I’m just about to drift off to sleep, (eyes closed, barely conscious. You get the picture) he’ll just ask, “Hey, man, you awake?” … “Dude?” … “Hey, you up?”
I never respond. Because i never see a need to. If it’s important, he’d wake me. If not, i can just remain comfortable.
After 4 weeks at college, I decided to head home over the weekend for a visit. I had a good time until last night. I was just about to drift off to sleep when my roommate asked, “Hey, are you still awake?” I looked at the clock and saw 2:21. Needless to say, I was a bit pissed off. I decided to actually voice my complaints, so I instinctively turned on the light to tell him in no uncertain terms to shut the hell up.
I sat up and immediately realized what was wrong: why on earth would my roommate be in my room? He’s in our dorm room… Two hours away.
I went pale at the sight of my empty room, and I heard the voice again, this time closer: “I’ll see you in the morning” – Reddit.com
A relative of the Loch Ness Monster has allegedly been caught on camera in England’s Lake District.
Photographer Ellie Williams had been taking photographs of the wildlife around Lake Windermere when upon reviewing the images she discovered that one of them seemed to show a strange humpback creature swimming in the water.
The cryptozoological enigma appeared to possess a long dinosaur-like neck reminiscent of that commonly seen in photographs of the Loch Ness Monster up in Scotland.
“When I set up at Lake Windermere it was business as usual to take some lovely photos of the wildlife around the lake,” she said. “When I reviewed all the images I thought it might have been a swan or a goose, as I was looking at the image on my smartphone.”
“I’m open to suggestions as to what the creature is.”
Critics have argued that the creature in the picture is a hoax because the ‘hump’ is too pointed, however so far the precise nature of the Windermere monster has yet to be determined. – AOL

A UFO appeared in the skies above northern California in the early morning of Friday, September 12.
At least thirty witnesses in the bay area watched the strange object streak across the sky at approximately 6:00 a.m. Some describe the object as a white light, while others say it was orange. But the light was seen with “fog or smoke billowing out” behind it. Among the witnesses is a police officer from Sacramento.

KPIX, San Francisco’s CBS affiliate, spoke with Bing Quock of the Morrison Planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences to ask him about the UFO. “Looking at the website of the American Meteor Society, it looks like there are several reports of a large bright object falling through the sky,” he explains. “It’s rather unusual in that this one had a rather large tail following behind it,” Quock points out.
The station also checked with Gerald McKeegan of the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland. “We’re thinking maybe it was either a piece of space junk that has fallen out of orbit and into our atmosphere or it might have been some kind of a missile test launch,” he suggests. But when KPIX checked with Vandenberg Air Force Base, base representatives informed the station that there were no launches that morning.
One witness explained,
This morning when I was leaving for work, before I got into my car I noticed that there was some type of object in the air with a type of floodlight on, and white fog/smoke was billowing out of it – as if something was being sprayed into the air. I tried to take a photo with my iPhone but it didn’t come out . . . Could this be fogging for mosquitoes? I was a bit concerned because the object was clearly spraying some substance into the air . . . with the floodlight on. Then the light went off, and I couldn’t see or hear the sounds from a plane or anything, it was very strange.
But local daily news website Claycord.com explains that mosquito fogging in that area is done by truck, not by aircraft. Further, no mosquito fogging was planned for the day in question. Additionally, the fact that the UFO was seen by witnesses in other states including Nevada and Oregon rules out this possible explanation.

A casual reading of the October 1983 issue of UFOPRESS, however, kicked up an article by our friend Alejandro Agostinelli about the Pretzel CE-3 case. The reason that prompted the UFO-PRESS newsroom to include – in Issue #15 – a report by a psychologist who looked into the study performed by Dr. Oscar A. Galíndez concerning the experience of María Elodia Pretzel in Villa Carlos Paz on 14 June 1968 was the start of an argument between those who claim having found a definitive explanation, and continuing the discussion using new elements as a basis and shedding light on dark spots. A valid allegation in the light of the sterile discourse would be to invite the psychologist – the one who “debunked” the case, to some – and have him re-interview María Elodia and dispel any questions raised by the article. Yes, faithful to the path laid out by Freudian orthodoxy, Lic. Cetrángolo’s steps in the matter were true. María Elodia exclaimed tearfully: “A man!” and it is worth acknowledging that the psychologist’s hypothesis is at least cogent. Until the contrary can be proved, we must entertain the possibility that her exclamation could have been the response to the need for “a man” that may be necessary in the life of a woman in the bloom of adolescence.
But in the meantime, let us see what happened not so long ago with regard to the article in UFO-PRESS and fortunate mobilizing effect it had among certain levels of homegrown ufology.
The fact that anyone should dare question María Elodia Pretzel’s irreversible eyewitness account seemed to unleash the wrath of the editor of a well-known monthly magazine on borderline subjects. Without missing a beat, he sent a correspondent for his magazine to Villa Carlos Paz to see if it was possible to “refute the article appearing in UFO-Press”. The envoy, bewildered by his boss’s deceitful intentions, thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to interview the witness of a such a classic case in world ufology, which at the time sent a ripple of fear through the Argentinean public.
Upon reaching the “La Cuesta” motel, he was told by the desk clerk how to reach María Elodia’s property. He found the home, disheartened to see that all the blinds were closed. He rang the doorbell and after a while, from the dark interior that could barely been seen through the windows, he heard the distrustful voice of a woman asking who was at the door. The envoy identified himself and, still hesitant, she asked him into the living room. Looking older than her thirty-four years of age, María Elodia apologized for her initial mistrust and told the man that she had to obey her husband’s instructions regarding her safety. Incoherent, contradictory and visibly upset, Ms. Pretzel explained that she had been in poor health ever since that June 14th fifteen years earlier.
The cause for her imbalance lies not so much in the encounter itself but in the disproportionate coverage given to her incredible story, and particularly the mocking treatment she receives from her neighbors. The cosmic affair pursues her wherever she goes much like a scarlet letter on her arm. She reaffirmed the truthfulness of the experience and rejected the untruths put forth by the worst of the townspeople, who have tainted her good name.
The resourceful magazine correspondent later spoke to some local residents and was able to learn the local gossip.
According to the chattering classes, María Elodia had a secret boyfriend who visited her when her father, Pedro Jacobo Pretzel, was away from the motel. On the unhappy evening of June 14th, she received one of these clandestine visits, and her father arrived as her furtive lover fled through a side door. Believing that she would bear the brunt of her father’s jealousy, poor María broke into tears. Seeing how perplexed her father was at the dramatic scene, she dried her tears and made up the story of the galactic superman. We are not alone in distrusting the version of the events put forth by the locals, nor did the chronicler take their arguments seriously. He preferred to stress the sad impression he got from Ms. Pretzel: a woman on the brink of insanity.
The material gathered by the reporter, as one can easily suppose, did not meet the expectations of the unnamed merchant of mystery or defray the cost of sending his correspondent to that location. Therefore, it does not surprise me that none of what has been hitherto stated has appeared in the magazine in question. The brave should never avoid the truth. As Joan Manuel Serrat sang: “The truth is never sad…it just can’t be helped.”
The new information introduced by this article, however, will require a more complete confirmation if we seek to tilt the balance of credibility in one way or another.

Comet Churyumov–Gerasimenko, officially designated 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko and sometimes shortened to 67P/C-G, is a comet with a current orbital period of 6.45 years and a rotation period of approximately 12.7 hours. The comet will next come to perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) on 13 August 2015.Like all comets, it is named after its discoverers, Klim Ivanovych Churyumov and Svetlana Ivanovna Gerasimenko, who first observed it on photographic plates in 1969.
Churyumov-Gerasimenko is the destination of the European Space Agency’s Rosetta mission, launched on 2 March 2004. The Rosetta spacecraft rendezvoused with the comet on 6 August 2014, with plans to enter orbit after approaching to within 30 km (19 mi) five weeks later. Rosetta will study the comet and identify a suitable landing site for its lander, Philae; the landing is scheduled for November 2014.
