Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

UPDATE Een internationaal team van sterrenkundigen heeft 219 miljoen sterren in de Melkweg in kaart gebracht, de meest uitgebreide catalogus tot nu toe.
De catalogus is vandaag in het vakblad Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society verschenen. Het team maakte gebruik van de Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) op het Spaanse eiland La Palma. Daarmee kunnen sterren worden gespot die een miljoen keer zwakker schijnen dan met het blote oog te zien is. Het duurde tien jaar om de miljoenen sterren in kaart te brengen.
Sterrenkundigen schatten dat er minstens 100 miljard sterren in de Melkweg zijn. Vanaf de aarde is daar maar een klein deel van te zien. De Melkweg heeft een doorsnede van zo'n 100.000 lichtjaren. Eén lichtjaar is zo'n 10 biljoen kilometer.
De kaart is samengesteld onder leiding van Geert Barentsen van de universiteit van Hertfordshire in het Britse Hatfield.
De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie Nasa betwijfelt of de krater in Nicaragua het gevolg is van een meteorietinslag dit weekend. Er was geen vuurbal te zien, aldus Bill Cooke, hoofd van de Nasa-afdeling voor meteorieten, maandag. Dit houdt dus de mogelijkheid open dat iets anders de krater in de buurt van de hoofdstad heeft veroorzaakt.
Volgens Nicaraguaanse bronnen sloeg in de nacht van zaterdag op zondag een meteoriet in op een bebost gebied in de buurt van de internationale luchthaven. Deze krachtige inslag veroorzaakte een krater van 12 meter diameter en 5,5 meter diep.
Astronomen hebben met de Hubble-telescoop een monsterlijk groot zwart gat ontdekt in een van de kleinste bekende sterrenstelsels. Dat meldt de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA vandaag.
De NASA ontdekte een van de kleinste en meest compacte sterrenstelsel ooit: 140 miljoen sterren binnen een diameter van 300 lichtjaar. In het midden van dat sterrenstelsel bleek een zwart gat te zitten dat bijna vijf keer zo groot is als dat in de Melkweg.
Een miljoen sterren "Als je in dit kleine sterrenstelsel zou leven, zou je 's nachts minstens een miljoen sterren kunnen zien met het blote oog", leggen de wetenschappers uit. Ter vergelijk: op aarde zijn er 's nachts zo'n 4.000 sterren zichtbaar.
De nieuwe vondst zou kunnen bewijzen dat 'dwergsterrenstelsels' afgescheurde delen zijn van grotere sterrenstelsels. "We kennen geen enkele andere manier waarop er zo'n groot zwart gat zou kan ontstaan in zo'n klein object", zegt astronoom Anil Seth van de Universiteit van Utah.

videoEen Welshman die even door het raam gluurde tijdens zijn terugvlucht van Griekenland merkte een vreemd voorwerp op. Hij zag sterke lichten en legde het verschijnsel vast met zijn smartphone. De man die anoniem wil blijven, zag naar eigen zeggen, nooit eerder in zijn leven zo'n felle lichten.
De 29-jarige uit Cardiff merkte het verschijnsel zo'n twintig minuten voor de landing op toen hij even naar buiten keek. "De lichten waren misschien een paar kilometer verwijderd van het vliegtuig. Het was verder pikkedonker, dus het is lastig te zeggen wat het precies was. De lampen waren heel erg fel, ik heb denk ik nog nooit zo'n fel licht gezien in mijn leven. Het was behoorlijk raar. Ik heb echt geen idee wat het is."
MH370 Eerst het slechte nieuws: van de op 8 maart verdwenen Boeing van vlucht MH370 van Malaysia Airlines is er nog steeds geen spoor. Maar de sonar-, radar- en satellietgegevens die het voorbije halfjaar zijn verzameld, hebben wetenschappers wel een berg nieuwe kennis van de Indische Oceaan bezorgd.
Op 22 september zal de zoektocht naar de verdwenen Boeing hervatten. 60.000 tot 70.000 vierkante kilometer bodem van het zuidelijke deel van de Indische Oceaan zal meter per meter onderzocht worden met geavanceerde apparatuur. Dat zal een enorme bijdrage betekenen voor de gegevens waarover de onderzoekers nu al beschikken.
"Het is zeer uitzonderlijk dat zo'n groot gebied onderzocht wordt, en zeker omdat het zo ver van de Australische kust ligt", vertelde dr Stuart Minchin van Geoscience Australia aan Discovery News.
Zoektochten met vliegtuigen, schepen en een geavanceerde onderwaterrobot leverden tot nu toe nog geen fysieke sporen van het verdwenen vliegtuig op. "Maar we vonden wel al zeebergen en vulkanen die nooit eerder in kaart gebracht zijn", zegt Minchin.
Tsunami's En dat is meer dan een louter wetenschappelijke meevaller. Die nieuwe kennis kan van groot belang zijn bij het voorspellen van zeestromen en tsunami's. Bovendien kan ze een beter begrip opleveren van het ontstaan van de continenten.
"Wetenschappers over de hele wereld zullen bijzonder geïnteresseerd zijn in deze informatie over een vrij onbekend deel van de oceaan", voorspelt Minchin. Geoscience Australia belooft dan ook alle gegevens wereldkundig te maken na afloop van de zoektocht naar de MH370.
Of die zoektocht ook nog een spoor van het vliegtuig zal opleveren, is heel onzeker. Verwacht wordt dat de operatie nog een jaar kan duren, mogelijk zonder resultaat.
Een heldere vuurbal die eerder deze maand in de hemel boven de Verenigde Staten voorbij 'flitste', was "zeer waarschijnlijk" een onderdeel van een Russische spionagesatelliet. Dat melden experts aan persbureau AP.
Boven het Rocky Mountains-gebied in de VS was te zien hoe het heldere object uiteenviel en langzaam richting het noorden bewoog. Tientallen inwoners van New Mexico tot Montana maakten een melding van de ongebruikelijke waarneming, die 's avonds op 2 september te zien was in de lucht. Ooggetuigen omschreven het verschijnsel als drie "stenen met gloeiende rode en oranje strepen". "Ze waren kleurrijk en snel, ik heb nog nooit zoiets gezien."
Ging het daadwerkelijk om een meteoriet of een ander hemellichaam? Nee, zeggen experts. "Een meteoriet zou veel te snel opgebrand zijn om vanuit zo"n breed gebied gespot te worden", legt Mike Hankey van de American Meteor Society uit aan AP.
Het was waarschijnlijk een onderdeel van een Russische verkenningssatelliet, die afgelopen mei gelanceerd werd, vertelt Charles Vick, een veiligheidsexpert bij militaire denktank GlobalSecurity.org. Deze satelliet is ontworpen om foto's te nemen en terug naar aarde te sturen.
"Oogje in het zeil" Volgens John Pike, directeur van GlobalSecurity.org, wil Rusland "vliegtuigen, schepen, tanks, fabrieken, nieuwe voorzieningen van de inlichtingendienst, en dat soort dingen in de gaten houden". De satellieten zijn op zoek naar doelen voor nucleaire wapens, aldus Pike. "Ze zijn naar dezelfde dingen op zoek als onze spionagesatellieten."
Volgens Rusland is er echter niks aan de hand. "Onze satellieten functioneren naar behoren", laat Igor Konashenkov, woordvoerder van het Russische ministerie van Defensie, weten. "Men kan slechts gissen naar de gesteldheid van de vertegenwoordigers van die zogenaamde American Meteor Society toen zij een lichtgevend fenomeen identificeerden als een Russische militaire satelliet."
Geschat wordt dat er momenteel 98 spionagesatellieten in de ruimte zijn, gelanceerd door minstens zes landen, zegt Jonathan McDowell, een astronoom aan het Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. 37 daarvan zijn afkomstig van de VS, 30 van China, en slechts 3 van Rusland. "Het grootste deel van die satellieten is oud, en waarschijnlijk de helft is momenteel actief."

Meticulous Visual Recreation Of Moon Landing Shows It Wasn’t A Hoax
Graphics giant Nvidia has used its latest GPU to debunk several common Apollo hoax arguments.
Well known for its range of high performance computer graphics cards, Nvidia has demonstrated its latest dynamic lighting technology by recreating the site of the famous Apollo 11 moon landing in an effort to prove that the event really happened.
In particular the company has focused on producing an accurate recreation of a well known photograph taken by Neil Armstrong showing Buzz Aldrin descending the steps of the lander while the area around him is engulfed in shadow.
Conspiracy theorists have long argued that this particular image is evidence that the landings were hoaxed because Aldrin, despite being within the shadowed area, is somehow brightly lit, indicating that there must have been some other light source situated nearby.
“We talked to a lot of experts in the field to re-create what happened on the moon that day,” said GeForce general manager Scott Herkelman. “We re-created perfectly what they made and how the reflection would look off the suits, duct tape [and] aluminum foil.”
By recreating the scene the team was able to demonstrate that Aldrin was actually being lit by sunlight that was bouncing off the surrounding lunar surface. “The sun is hitting the dust, and it’s illuminating the backside of the Apollo module and astronaut,” said Herkelman. Read more at io9
On Tuesday 22nd April 2008 I appeared on BBC London Radio with JoAnne Goode and Paul Ross to discuss mystery big cats around London, so what better way to celebrate reaching the fiftieth Saturday Strangeness installment than with another ‘big cat’ tale from the capital…
In the March of 1994 there were reports that a lioness was on the loose in North London and had been sighted by a Linda Bostock in broad daylight, who described the felid as having, “…short golden hair and big padded paws.” Of course, the elusive cat never showed up despite calls flooding in to the local police switchboard – echoing reports from 20th January in the same year around the Northolt area of West London, where sightings of a puma-like cat took place near the station. A Robert Delane claimed the animal, “…was three-feet tall and four-feet long with a velvety biscuit-coloured coat.”
Back at Winchmore Hill, residents jammed the police board with several sightings of the giant cat, which matched the same description of the Northolt prowler. More than thirty police officers swarmed upon the area and created more panic than what it was worth, as they paraded through the streets with megaphones warning parents to keep their children inside. Pets were also deemed at risk and pupils at the local schools were not allowed home until the matter was cleared up.
Of course, no lioness, or even a puma turned up. Despite a helicopter whirring in the skies over Palmers Green and marksmen from London Zoo lurking in the bushes with tranquiliser guns, the only thing that reared its head was the occasional domestic cat and a bull mastiff. There never was a lioness on the roam, but there most likely had been a puma, in fact there had been one for more than forty years, or certainly generations spawned from the original Surrey ‘puma’ which made its name in the ’50s and ’60s.
All the beast of Winchmore Hill did was prove how inadequte police investigations continue to be with regards to cat-flaps concerning mystery felids, and leaves us asking the question – who is the bigger threat, the puma or the police? – Londonist
The 1st house built in Bethlehem, PA was constructed on this site in 1741, to be later replaced by the Eagle Hotel in 1823. In 1922, Charles Schwab, president of Bethlehem Steel, decided he wanted more modern digs to live in and the Hotel Bethlehem was born. It even had running water!
But it came with more than hot and cold water. Over the years, people have reported being tapped on the shoulder by the unseen, bodiless voices have called out employee’s names, there are reported cold spots, and even sightings of unplugged vacuum cleaners gliding across the rugs (we wish we had one of those haunting our carpets!)
The Bethlehem was built over the site of the old Eagle Hotel, which was demolished to clear land. The bricks and mortar may be gone, but the Eagle’s legacy lingers; the guests and staff seem to have found a permanent home in its replacement building.
The oldest spook is Mrs. Brong, the wife of an innkeeper dating back to the Eagle Hotel days. She’s been spotted in the kitchen and the restaurant. They know it’s her because she’s barefoot, just as she liked to be in her flesh and blood days.
One famous spook that never checked out is that of actress and songbird of the 1890s, May Yohe. She grew up in the hotel that her grandfather once owned, and has been reported on the third floor gazing out a window, singing, playing the piano in the lobby, and in the exercise room reliving her childhood.
Francis “Daddy” Thomas, who lived in the hotel during colonial times, is another ghost that likes to play pranks on the staff in the boiler room. In fact, one engineer refuses to work in the area.But he’s a friendly guy who used to be early Bethlehem’s welcome wagon to visitors.
There’s also a woman dressed in Victorian garb that appears in the kitchen and floats out to the dining room, only to disappear. Ghosts of children have been reported playing throughout the Hotel, and another has been seen on the mezzanine – maybe a young May Yohe?
Some guests have requested room transfers because of the spectral shenanigans in the building. In room 932, for example, a couple saw a spook standing by the bed in his boxer shorts and undershirt. Another time, guests saw a man at their bed, and he wanted to know what they were doing in his room. EVPs recorded the voice of a spirit named Mary. Paranormal phenomena is commonplace; we particularly like the wallpaper changing color.

A passenger claimed to the host of a radio programme to have spotted a woman thought to be a cabin crew member in a traditional outfit helping evacuate people from the A330-300 aircraft, which veered off the runway on Sunday night after arriving from China.
A traditional outfit is worn by female cabin crew during flight, but they typically switch to the airline’s skirt and blouse uniform before landing A THAI source said the passenger’ s story has bewildered airline executives and crew particularly those on board Flight 679.
The crew insisted none among them were wearing the traditional outfit when the accident took place The source said the passenger may have seen a guardian angel who “stepped in” to help.
An Airports of Thailand (AoT) source said some airport fire brigade and emergency response personnel claimed to have seen a woman in traditional spirit house dress shuffling into and out of their office, causing crackling in their radio transmissions.
The AoT source said Suvarnabhumi has seven spirit houses at the airport to ward off ill fortune
The first one is Sarn Thepparak, erected before the airport was inaugurated in 2006.

The main change which is occurring about the fact that “Alien Civilizations Exist” has been a part of our back story for all humanoid sentient intelligent beings. We are not from here since we have souls. We are just visiting this planet. Those who come together in what we call dimensions, levels, realms, and waves do so by freewill and choice. Freedom and justice is what we desire no matter where we are among others of our kind. Also, we choose to be among our kind as we do not like to be lonely. We have developed a kindred spirit keeper in all of us that allows us to know of each other no matter how alone we feel. Feeling is an emotion that is instilled in all humanoids as sentient intelligent beings. The message I was sent here to share as my mission and even in some part as a soul purpose is about communication. Communication of what is good and right for the entire universe and even beyond regarding the “Cosmos Beings”.
Cosmos Beings have allowed us to share communication among ourselves in order to not be alone in this vast universe when it comes to what we now relate to as words. “In the beginning was the word and the word was without form.” This is about as far back in what humans call time. Humankind has been allowed to understand elements of all there is in what we now call theories or suspicions regarding the energy we term imaginations. Many great thinkers including Albert Einstein knew the importance of imagination. Look up all those in this lifetime who have been what we call “Game Changers”. I am one of those and it is a calling and election made sure in the other dimensions, levels, realms, and universes that recognize what we are and who we will become.
Alien contact comes in many forms and to the chosen we grasp for words to fit into the minds of those who are here on this planet to learn to exist, grow, live, and thrive in this biological environment. There is a nature’s God that those who came before allowed for us all to relate too. The universal laws and the principles of life allow for us all to recognize gender in all lifeforms. Some of us are self-aware. We are those called SIB. SIB is the acronym for sentient intelligent beings. Alien contact in this world is simply about awareness that alien civilizations exist and that we are all a part of this world about alien contact.
The big picture that everyone seeks as a microcosm inside this macrocosm is to increase their awareness of what it means to be loved. We all want to be recognized and validated as existing. Those who are SIBS who are in this life form as humanoids who will continue to grow and maintain sustainability will learn who they can define as those who are loved and will emulate that emotional bond to others of their own species. This is a natural affinity for the truth to belong to something much greater than one’s own self. Fernándo Távara of the MUFON Perú organization analyzed the original image of an Unidentified Flying Object photographed over San Francisco de Bellocq, which appeared in La Voz del Pueblo newspaper last Wednesday. Andres Stessens, the photographer, is an aide to municipal delegate Gerardo Chedrese. Távara further references a second figure that is also visible, but less clearly so.
“I have dismissed the cause being a photography error, lens stains or birds,” notes the specialist.
He further points out: “I cannot associate the aero-anomalous objects with known artifacts or craft (airplanes, helicopters, drones). Moreover, the main object appears to be considerably large, with regard to distance.”
In closing, he insisted that after “analyzing the image with various photography software packages I can see that it has not been edited, and the date on which it was taken coincides with the one manifested by the witness.”
Based on the study of these characteristics, he said: “I can catalogue this case as a UFO due to the fact that no natural or logical cause can be found to explain this event (suggestions from other researchers or witnesses are welcome).”

Someone has found a five-mile-wide black disc hovering over the ocean in a NASA photograph.
A blog somehow able to deliver ‘MIND BLOWING!’ content on the greatest conspiracies in human history once every 24 hours, published news of the find on Thursday.
The disc was discovered in a picture taken November 2013, the original (much darker) version of which is still available on NASA’s website.
The website says that while the UFO appears to be above the ocean, it’s actually hiding underneath it – though not very well, clearly.
And the pic of interest itself:
“This shows a massive stealth black disk over the ocean. The dimensions are almost perfect. Streetcap1 of Youtube found this one and I have to say its beyond words. This UFO looks to be more than 5-7 miles across. Since it is over the ocean area, the only place that it could hide without being noticed is below the ocean.”
They also published the video analysis of the image, which we’ve embedded above.
Needless to say there are numerous other possibilities here, including camera glitches, gaps missed by the process of stitching together smaller images to make a large enough one to publish, and interference.
Either way there is no evidence of five-mile-wide stuff hiding under the ocean. Unless you include Atlantis. Which is also not true.
Walter Cronkite, the premier TV anchorman of the U.S. networks’ golden age who reported a tumultuous time with reassuring authority and came to be called “the most trusted man in America.”
Cronkite was the face of CBS News from 1962 to 1981, when stories ranged from the John F. Kennedy assassination to the Iranian hostage crisis.

According to UFO researcher Bill Knell (more on him below), in the 1950s Cronkite was part of a pool of news reporters brought out to a small South Pacific island to watch the test of a new Air Force missile…a large disc-type UFO appeared on the scene. Cronkite guessed that the object was about 50-60 feet in diameter, a dull grey color and had no visible means of propulsion. As Air Force guards ran toward the UFO with their dogs, the disc hovered about 30 feet off of the ground.
Bill Knell’s claim: In the 1950s Cronkite was part of a pool of News Reporters brought out to a small South Pacific island to watch the test of a new Air Force missile. After a short inspection of the new system by the reporters, they were lead to an area that was a safe distance from the launch site. The missile was mounted on a specially-built launcher that was attached to a cement base. It was obvious that the area had been quickly built just for the test. The details about the missile were going to be given to the reporters in he form of hand-out sheets and press releases after the test.
Cronkite mentioned that he and the other reporters had been warned that photography of the missile test and any audio transmissions or recordings by the press were forbidden. They would have to give a written account of the event. Just as the test was ready to proceed, everyone was writing as fast as they could. As Air Force Security personnel walked around the perimeter of the test area with guard dogs and the news reporters watched, the missile was fired-up and about to be released. Just then, a large disc-type UFO appeared on the scene.
Cronkite guessed that the object was about 50-60 feet in diameter, a dull grey color and had no visible means of propulsion. Because the noise of activity around him and the missile engine was so loud, he couldn’t tell whether the disc made any noise. He did not notice any coming directly from the object.
As Air Force guards ran toward the UFO with their dogs, the disc hovered about 30 feet off of the ground. It suddenly sent out a blue beam of light which struck the missile, a guard and a dog all at the same time. The missile was frozen in mid-air about 70 feet from the launcher as it had taken off. A guard was frozen in mid-step and a dog frozen in mid-air as it had jumped at the disc. Cronkite reminded me that this all happened within the space of about five minutes or less.
Suddenly, the missile exploded! After that, the disc vanished. The guard and dog looked alright, but were quickly taken away by medical personnel always present at tests in case anyone became injured. At the same time, guards rapidly ushered the reporters into a concrete observation bunker. After about thirty minutes of sitting in that hot box, they were brought out into the air again and addressed by an Air Force Colonel.
The officer told them, “It was all part of the test.” Obviously making it up as he went along, the Colonel said that the event was “staged” to test media reaction to UFOs. He reinforced the usual line to the reporters that Flying Saucers were probably not extra-terrestrial, but what people were actually seeing was secret planes being tested by the Air Force. This test was designed to show the media how “shocking” it could be to suddenly view a new technology. Well, Cronkite was certain that what he viewed was a new technology, but he was also sure it was not an Earthly one! He didn’t believe the Air Force explanation then, and he still didn’t believe it at the time when he told me the story.
After the event, reporters were told that since it was a test of media reaction to new technology, they could not report on it! But, they would be compensated later with exclusive stories on new Air Force projects (a promise that was never kept). Being as private as he was, Cronkite never did share with me his own beliefs about UFOs beyond the story he told me. I was so happy to have heard the story that I was afraid to ask anything further!
The CBS UFO Special was filmed shortly after my meeting with Cronkite and I was included in it for just a few minutes. During the filming, I became aware that Cronkite had not shared his story with most of the other UFO investigators or witnesses. After the special aired I called one of Cronkite’s staff members and asked him if he had ever heard the UFO story. He told me he had. Cronkite had only shared it with a few key people and it was NOT covered or even mentioned in the Special.
I wondered why Cronkite had chosen to tell me the story without telling everyone? The staff members told me that most of the others were so busy telling him about themselves that he just never bothered. I originally wrote the Cronkite article in 1998 for my website, but I thought readers at Paranormal News might enjoy it as well. I met Cronkite in 1973 (as the article indicates) and that’s when he told me the story.
I have repeated the story ever since during many of my seminars and found that a few others had heard the story too. Most of them had heard it second hand or said that they had read it somewhere. At the time it happened, some of his staff knew about it, so I assumed it wasn’t really a big secret. He didn’t tell it to me in confidence, so I felt no obligation to keep it a secret. Since publications come and go and people have short memories for news, it’s possible that Cronkite had once shared it in some long-forgotten interview. But I have never seen it in print.
I feel that Cronkite’s account of what happened is very credible. He seemed to be telling me the story from an honest memory of the event. When we conversed, he was very interested in the Air Force cover-up. I suspect that if he had more control over the 1973 documentary, he would have angled it in that direction. Instead, it was pretty much a neutral piece designed for ratings (from my memory). Although I have contacted CBS many times, they finally told me that any tape or film the UFO Special was on no longer exists and was probably lost in the shuffle of the news craziness surrounding Watergate (which broke big around that time).
Like many important stories, this one has been around awhile, but I think alot of people in the UFO and Paranormal research community probably were too busy chasing false starts created by government disinformation to cover it. I recall that when everyone was running to Gulf Breeze in the late 80′s and early 90′s, I revealed a story regarding a trip by former general Doolittle (the leader of the famous bombing raid on Japan during the early part of WWII) to Spitzbergen and his possible connection to the recovery of a UFO. He was there in 1946 and may have obtained a UFO that crashed on the island during the war. I had met some sailors from the USS Alabama in the late 80′s who said the object was brought back to the USA on the battleship Alabama. I started telling this story in my seminars as early as 1990, but noticed that the ABOUT.com UFO page attributes it to some 1950s or 60′s article by someone I had never heard of?
I also noticed that some of the MUFON people credited my original recording of the first radio interview given by Kenneth Arnold less then 12 hours after his 1947 sighting to some guy named Mike. I received that recording from a radio guy who had the original interview in the 70′s and have been playing it in my seminars ever since. I assume that Mike lifted it off one of my audio or video sets and sent it to whoever at MUFON. No problem, just an illustration of how stuff is out there is you take some time to look at some of us little guys who aren’t Richard, Budd or Whitley.
Here’s one more. In 1987 I met a guy that had worked with Jesse Marcel. He told me that some of the material shown in texas that was supposed to be from the weather balloon wreckage was actually from the real object. It was some of the lighter colored, small pieces laying on top of the balloon wreckage at the bottom of the press conference photos. I told that story to Friedman and others who laughed at it. Now I see that photo examination has revealed it to be true. But that didn’t surprise me. I was amused to find out that most people in the UFO community didn’t know that when THE ROSWELL INCIDENT was first published, Bill Moore still had never actually visited or set foot in Roswell! He wrote the book from all of Friedman’s notes and by witness interviews over the phone. Moore finally went to the place later.
Finally, I doubt that Cronkite kept the story a secret. Some of his staff knew about it and a few others I’ve met through the years. When he told it to me, he did it as calmly as someone reporting the weather. I think he just likes being in the driver’s seat when it comes to his own life and experiences and might have even been a bit embarrassed by it all. Maybe he was just caught up in the moment and felt like getting it off his chest.
Actually, I was the only UFO researcher there who didn’t have anything to promote. I was a teen with a mimeographed UFO newsletter who got invited to speak at local libraries and Kiwanis Clubs. I think he might have told the story to the others as well, but most of them were very busy blowing their own horns and promoting their stuff. Look at the depths to which I’ve sunk since then. Now I’m blowing MY own horn!
In case you’re wondering about it, I tried getting a few more details out of Cronkite regarding the actual location of the test, but he told me that the reporters were brought to the location without being told exactly where it was. Secrecy regarding the actual location was a part of the conditions for being able to witness the test. I decided not to push the point or question him further. – Bill Knell – UFO Researcher

A new biography of Walter Cronkite reveals the less trustworthy side of the most trusted man in America.
The CBS anchor is remembered as a media giant who gruffly championed hard-hitting journalism. This is a mostly justifiable assessment. But some unscrupulous actions outlined in the book muddy his otherwise almost spotless reputation, and make clear how much the media has changed.
For starters, he had no problem accepting freebies. These weren’t occasional drinks, but flights to remote and luxurious vacation spots around he world for him and his friends and family, courtesy of now-defunct airline Pan Am.
News organizations today place heavy restrictions on the amount of gifts their journalists can receive, if any. This is done in order to protect the organizations’ neutrality. For example, The New York Times’ company policy states:
Staff members and those on assignment for us may not accept anything that could be construed as a payment for favorable coverage or for avoiding unfavorable coverage. They may not accept gifts, tickets, discounts, reimbursements or other benefits from individuals or organizations covered (or likely to be covered) by their newsroom.
An article in The Daily Beast relates Cronkite’s other shenanigans, which included dining with a go-go dancer and bugging a committee room at a GOP convention. The piece questions how Cronkite’s more private affairs would have been perceived in the era of Internet tabloids:

A group of Russian enthusiasts says they have new evidence of the existence of a Russian bigfoot — and it was found just outside of Moscow.
On a table inside the capital’s illustrious State Darwin Museum last month, surrounded by glass cases containing beetles and moths, lies the purported proof: a fragment of tree bark that appears to have been marked by a large primate.
The bark sample was taken by Andrei Stroganov, a biophysical technologist at Moscow’s Agricultural Academy, from an uprooted two-meter-long tree trunk that he says had been planted in the earth and marked with horizontal scratches. Stroganov found the curiosity in July in a forested area near a railway line in the Solnechnogorsk district — just five kilometers from the Moscow satellite town of Zelenograd — while scouring the forests for signs of the Almas, as the Russian bigfoot is known, after hearing reports that such a creature had been spotted in the area.
“The Almas is cosmopolitan,” jokes Stroganov in response to an expression of alarm at its apparent proximity to the capital.
“I am not worried: They are benevolent and need our protection.”
Igor Burtsev, an athletic septuagenarian who has become Russia’s most vocal publicist for Almas research and is also present in the Darwin Museum, concurs. He calls the as yet mythical creatures “Forest People” and sees them as a hybrid species, half-human and half-something unknown.
Stroganov has placed the tree bark behind Perspex glass, over which he has drawn measurements. He thinks the marks resemble a paw print measuring nine inches across. There are no thumb marks, nor are there the claw marks of a bear.
Stroganov takes swabs of the bark prints and, with Burtsev videoing the proceedings, secures them in small plastic folders. They will air-mail these to Alabama in the U.S., where the Russian-born researcher Vladimir Yamschekov will do a morphological study of the traces and check out any DNA.
Burtsev heads a closed online Russian-speaking community of researchers and investigators that includes members in Ukraine and Kazakhstan. They all share the belief that the Almas announces its presence with stick structures.
Burtsev has just returned from a 1,730-kilometer journey to the city of Miass in the Urals region of Chelyabinsk, where he stayed with someone who claimed to have seen a Almas and be able to show just such signs of the creature’s habitats.
He was reluctant to discuss the details, saying only that he had seen “confirmation” of the Almas’ presence there.
“There is more information on this than when I started 50 years ago,” he said. “Then again, people have less time now and travel is more expensive. The bigfoot scene in America is bigger.”
Indeed, the quest for definitive proof of bigfoot, the towering man-like ape that reportedly walks on two legs and terrorizes loggers and campers in North America, has been well documented for decades. The search for his Russian counterpart is less well known.
The Soviet government set up a “Almas Commission” in 1958 to conduct field work on the matter after Everest mountaineers returned with tales of the yeti. The commission was short-lived, but areas like the Urals, Siberia’s Kemerovo region and the Caucasus became known as the stomping ground of the real-life Almas.
Burtsev, who lives with his daughter in a Moscow suburb, is waiting on a visa to visit America. There he will reconnect with bigfoot advocates such as Thom Cantrall and Randy Bisson, and hopes to generate interest in an English-language book he has written on the Kemerovo Almas.
Science joins the quest
Russia’s yeti-hunters have not only allies abroad, but also those who argue against the Almas’ existence.
Professor Bryan Sykes, a 67-year-old geneticist and fellow of Wolford College, Oxford, has written his own book debunking some purported evidence of the creature’s existence. Sykes previously helped identify the bones of the last of the Romanovs, Russia’s royal family murdered by the Bolsheviks in 1918. Now, in “The Yeti Enigma,” due out in September, he draws on the same expertise to look at alleged yeti evidence. He claims that all the 39 supposed yeti hairs and teeth samples that he tested came from ordinary animals. Sykes has also suggested that the Himalayan yeti is a species of polar bear.
Last October, Burtsev took on his nemesis in a TV series called “The Bigfoot Files” broadcast by the U.K.’s Channel 4.
The two men also clashed over a skull in Burtsev’s possession believed to have belonged to the son of a “wild woman” who had been held in captivity in Mongolia 150 years ago. After testing some samples, Sykes hypothesised that she might have been a black African slave, or a descendant of a group of people who migrated to Mongolia from Africa thousands of years ago. Burtsev insists that the skull’s shape is not that of an ordinary human.
Michael Trachtengerts, a colleague of Burtsev who also featured in the program, remains unswayed by Sykes’ arguments against the existence of the yeti.
“The samples he tested were doubtful,” he says over a recent lunch in a Moscow cafe. “Hairs from Siberia were identified as belonging to a North American brown bear! How is that possible?”
Trachtengerts, who has his own dual-language website on the Almas, remains optimistic that proof will soon be found. He is nearly 80.
Mission to America
While Burtsev waits for his U.S. visa, his collection of footprint casts — as well as the contentious skull — remain stashed away in a Moscow garage. Burtsev hopes to transfer them to a sanctuary in the form of the State Darwin Museum.
The museum has provided a haven for the Almas hunters since 1960. They gather there every month. This does not necessarily mean, however, that the museum officially believes in their cause.
“I specialize in birds, and haven’t looked into this problem,” says Vitaly Kontorshchikov, a staff member of the museum’s ecology department who was present at the bark examination.
“However, we can say nothing until we have some real bone samples. No bones — no science,” he said.
This leaves the usually garrulous Bourtsev silent. He merely offers a sphinx-like smile. – The Moscow Times
Tiny Implants Could Give Humans Self-Healing Superpowers
A new device developed by the Pentagon could give humans the ability to heal more rapidly.
A common trait among comic book superheroes is the ability to heal even the most grievous of wounds incredibly quickly, something that would seem to be completely impossible in real life.
A new military-sponsored research project however may be set to change all that through the development of a remarkable new device that can be implanted in to the body where it can both monitor and heal damage to internal organs.
“The technology DARPA plans to develop through the ElectRx program could fundamentally change the manner in which doctors diagnose, monitor and treat injury and illness,” said Doug Weber of DARPA’s biological technologies office.
The concept is based on the process known as neuromodulation which sees the body’s nervous system monitor internal organs and regulate the response to infection and disease. Sometimes when a person is injured this process can be thrown off, exacerbating their condition.
The new device would work by intervening in such an instance so that neuromodulation can be kept under control and the healing process can proceed as rapidly and efficiently as possible. Read more at Live Science
In folklore, the incubus and succubus are male and female demons said to prey on sleeping victim’s. Such beliefs have often been perceived as nothing more than vivid nightmares, or ‘night terrors’, usually involving a person who, whilst sleeping on their backs, appear to awake, but are unable to move. They sense a presence in the room, and often a shadowy entity, sometimes resembling a hag-like figure, is said to enter the room. This apparition is often said to sit on the chest of the victim, who in their dream-state, is unable to breathe. The event only dissipates once the witness is able to break from the nightmare and the crushing sensation subsides.
These kind of attacks are reasonably common, but sexual phantoms have been known to apply more severe attacks to victims. On the night 9th August 1980 a South London woman became the target for a predatory wraith. At first, as she undressed for bed, the unseen spectre would call her name, and then on occasion caress her through her clothes, and then her naked flesh. Bizarrely, the woman felt stimulated by the presence and unable to act any other way towards the invisible form.
However, the randy spook became more violent, pulling at the woman, ripping her clothes, taunting her and terrifying her. On one occasion the victim was unable to move, and felt several tongues all over her body, and a taunting voice and feeling of being held down. The next morning she found bruises and scratches over her body and although she visited the doctor he simply passed the incident off as hysteria. When the attacks persisted, the woman called in a priest who stated that an incubus had been present in the room. Whatever had visited the woman, it was not put off by the crucifix around her neck.
After several more night time attacks, the woman felt no longer afraid and gradually over time the assaults dissipated.
Author Peter Haining stated that the case, which was investigated by researcher Lee Allane, and published in Forum: The International Journal Of Human Relations, was “… probably the most authentic of spectral rape on record.”
Such disturbing aspects of the supernatural were brought to the big screen several decades ago in the American movie The Entity in which a female was regularly raped by a spectral assailant.
Although the realm of the supernatural has provided great entertainment over the years, from its classic origins of hauntings pertaining to eerie houses, clanking spirits, and headless phantoms, there has always been a more serious ingredient. An American journalist has revealed the homeland of vampires is Serbia, not Romania.
David Ono took a trip to Serbia and did a story that was widely accepted in Serbia this week.
The journalist based the story on locals in Serbia telling him that the first vampire was buried near the cemetery in the central village of Kisiljevo.
According to the same story, one of first official vampires was Petar Blagojevic. The journalist claims there was a document from 1725 saying Petar Blagojevic will stand up from the dead and chase people.
The journo concludes Romania is getting fame from vampires, but the homeland of vampires should be Serbia. – Romanian Times

Were the Maya visited by an extraterrestrial from the Pleiades named Quetzalcoatl? According to Maya legend, the Maya were visited by a robed Caucasian man with blondhair, blue eyes and a beard by the name of Quetzalcoatl, who taught the Maya about agriculture, medicine, mathematics and astronomy.
It is widely recognized that the Maya were the first civilization to use the number “0”.
Quetzalcoatl warned the Maya of another bearded white man who would not only conquer the indigenous people of Central America, but would also enforce a new religion upon them before he was to return. Despite the warning, the Maya mistakenly welcomed the invading Cortes as Quetzalcoatl.
According to the prophecies in the Book of Chilam Balam, the Maya were warned about the tyranny of a white-ruling culture but were also promised a return of glory when a new religion would bring the world back into harmony. Perhaps this is the basis of the New World Order’s desire for a one world religion- to take over something positive with a negative event?
Certainly, the Chilam Balam was not campaigning for Christianity, which killed tens of thousands of Maya and hundreds of millions of people globally in the name of the Christian “god”.
Why were the Maya presented with advanced information on science, mathematics and calendar systems?
Why did Quetzalcoatl promise his return and when will that be? Accordingly, one of the stars in the Pleiades is called, “Maia”. Is it possible that Quetzalcoatl is (or was) an extraterrestrial from Maia in the Pleiades?
The following is a synopsis of the many cultures who have the Quetzalcoatl archetype associated as a deity.
Hundreds of North and South American Indian and South Pacific legends tell of a white-skinned, bearded lord who traveled among the many tribes to bring peace about 2,000 years ago. This spiritual hero was best known as Quetzelcoatl. Some of his many other names were:

When he left the Toltecs and sailed away to the East, Kate-Zahl promised to return to them after several cycles of their calendar. He made a prophecy about the destiny of the sacred city Tula (now identified with Teotihuacan in Mexico) through two millennia.
Quetzalcoatl
The Toltecs would be conquered first by the Sacrificers of Men (the Aztecs), then by white-skinned, bearded men of the East carrying fatal “thunder-rods” – the Spaniards and their guns:
“Further off there is another invasion. In ships many bearded men are coming from across the Sunrise Ocean… I see these men taking the Broad Land…
They do not respect our trees of cedar. They are but hungry, unenlightened children…
“Would that I could speak to these bearded farmers. I have tried. They do not hear me. They go on their way like spoiled children…
“Stand with me in the Year of Te-Tac-patl. Look across the Sunrise Ocean. Three ships come like great birds flying. They land. Out come men in metal garments, carrying rods which speak with thunder and kill at a distance. These men are bearded and pale of feature.
“They come ashore and I see them kneeling. Above them I see a Great Cross standing. That is well. If these men are true to the symbol they carry, you need have no fear of them, for no one who is true to that symbol will ever carry it into battle.
Therefore hold aloft your Great Cross (T), and go forth to meet them. They cannot fail to know that symbol, and would not fire their rods upon it, nor upon those who stand in its shadow. Well they know that what is done to my people is done also to me.
When the years have come to their full binding, the metal-tipped boots of the strangers will be heard in all the bloody temples. Then throughout the Broad Land has begun the Third Cycle. As yet, I cannot see beyond it.
“Once I had great hope for these people, for I saw them kneel and kiss the sweet earth, and I saw the shadow of the Great Cross which they carried with them. Now I must warn you against them.
“Carry your great books into the jungles. Place your histories deeply in caverns where none of these men can find them. Nor do you bring them back to the sunlight until the War-Cycle is over. For these bearded strangers are the children of War. They speak my precepts, but their ears do not listen. They have but one love and that is for weapons. Ever more horrible are these weapons, until they reach for the one which is ultimate. Should they use that, there will be no forgiveness in that vale where there is no turning. Using such a weapon to make man over, is reaching into the heavens for the Godhead. These things are not for man’s decision, nor should man presume to think for all things, and thus mock the Almighty. Woe to those who do not listen! There are lamps beyond that which you are burning; roads beyond this which you are treading; worlds beyond the one you are seeing. Be humble before the might of the Great Hand which guides the stars within their places. There are many lodges within my Father’s Kingdom for it is more vast than time, and more eternal.
“Keep hidden your books, my children, all during the Cycle of Warring Strangers.
The day will come when they will be precious.
“For five full Cycles of the Dawn Star, the rule of the Warring Strangers will go on to greater and greater destruction. Hearken well to all I have taught you. Do not return to the Sacrificers. Their path leads to the last Destruction. Know that the end will come in five full cycles, for five, the difference between the Earth’s number and that of the Gleaming Dawn Star, is the number of these children of War. As a sign to you that the end is nearing, my Father’s Temple will be uncovered. Remember this in the days which are coming.”
In astronomy, the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters, is an open star cluster containing middle-aged hot B-type stars located in the constellation of Taurus. Distance to Earth is 424 light years Tula-Teotihuacan was found and excavated by archaeologists only in recent years. In another prophecy, Kate-Zahl described the city as it will be rebuilt in the future: “Then the heavens spoke in a crash of thunder, and the lightning flashed above the valley. The Man turned to look again on Tula, his most beloved city. Behold! It was naught but a mass of rubble.
“He wept there with great sorrow. He clung to the rocks, staring back toward Tula. Then the heavens roared again and shook the mountain. A flash of light struck beside Him and cracked the darkness. Behold! The old heaven and earth were vanished, and He looked into another cycle.
“The heavens parted and a rising sun shone down on another Tula. Plainly he could see the valley, but the city was one He knew not. Magnificent was this Golden Tula! >”The Man was lifted beyond the earth. No longer He saw the Age of Destruction. Gone was the horrible Age of Warfare. He was looking beyond the Age of Carnage!
“Walk with me through this Age of the Future. Tula shines in all its glory, but the metals are of types we know not. Loving hands have rebuilt the parkways, have paved the streets, have rebuilt the temples. There is a great building where books are kept for the scholars, and many are those who come to read them. Tula is a great Center of Culture.
“Come with me to the New Colula. Shining again is My Father’s Temple! Once more the city is filled with fountains and the parkways are wire-netted for the birds of rare plumage, and those who sing to enchant the listener. Cross through the parkway to My Father’s Temple. You will see again the inscriptions which today your eyes are seeing, but now all people can read them.
“Come to the city of the future. Here are the buildings unlike those we build, yet they have a breathless beauty. Here people dress in materials we know not, travel in manners beyond our knowledge, but more important than all these differences are the faces of the people. Gone is the shadow of fear and suffering, for man no longer sacrifices, and he has outgrown the wars of his childhood. Now he walks in full stature towards his destiny — into the Golden Age of Learning.
“Carry this vision on through the Ages, and remember Kate-Zahl, the Prophet.” In Book X of his History, the 16th century chronicler Fray Bernardino de Sahagun described the departure of the “wise men” who had been the attendant priests of Kate-Zahl at Teotihuacan:
A Newburgh, NY, witness reported videotaping a round UFO on a security DVR system, according to testimony in Case 59920 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness has four cameras set up outside for sky watching and data is analyzed the following day after all the footage is recorded using a Security DVR.
“On the evening of September 16, 2014, at approximately 9:08 p.m. EST, a round, circular object was seen on Camera 4 moving from the east to west directly overhead,” the witness stated.
“This lasted approximately 11 seconds.”
The witness described the object.
“The object was near or at cloud level, left no visible trail and had no navigation lights. The object was quite large and when it passed through or close to clouds, it created a round, tight ring around it. It seemed to be rotating due to the tight ring of clouds that surrounded it.”
The witness also mentioned one unusual characteristic of the object.
“It also seemed to be emitting some type of energy or particles as it traveled to the west. It made no sound and the camera lost the object after it moved out of view.”
The witness uploaded one video with the MUFON report, which was filed on September 19, 2014.
