Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

FBI’s famous UFO memo fails to resolve ‘flying saucer’ mystery
Still wondering about the mystery of flying saucers and 3-foot tall aliens dressed in metallic clothing, which the FBI described in a 1950 memo? The agency has released a statement with details about the famous document.
The memo describing the mysterious UFOs was created in 1950, three years after the Roswell incident, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation claims they are not connected. In a blog post published this week, the agency says it never investigated the mysterious sightings – even though it could not explain what Guy Hottel, former head of the FBI’s Washington, D.C. field office, described.
“An investigator for the Air Force stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico,” Hottel wrote in the memo, which was addressed to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. “They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed fliers and test pilots.”
According to the document, three men including a police officer, a highway patrolman and an army guard had all reported seeing a “silver colored object high up approaching the mountains at Sardina Canyon” which then “appeared to explode in a rash of fire”. It also explained that several residents had reported witnessing two explosions, followed by a falling object.
The memo had first been released under the Freedom of Information Act in the late 1970s, but was not available online until the FBI uploaded its public records in April 2011. Since being posted to the Internet two years ago, the document has generated more than two million views, making it the FBI’s most-viewed public record in history.
The document’s publication has led to numerous media reports that labeled it as “proof” of alien existence. In 2011, the Daily Mail connected the FBI’s report to the 1947 Roswell UFO incident – an alleged extraterrestrial spacecraft crash that has been the subject of controversy for decades.
But since the FBI’s memo was published three years after the Roswell incident, the agency wants the media to know that it is a separate incident and that it never solved the mystery.
“The Hottel memo does not prove the existence of UFOs. It is simply a second- or third-hand claim that we never investigated,” the bureau said in a blog post on its website.
“There is no reason to believe the two are connected,” the post added.
Even though it is the FBI’s job to investigate potential security threats, which may include unidentified flying objects and mysterious explosions, the agency has defended its inaction, claiming that verifying UFO sightings is not part of its job description.
“The FBI has only occasionally been involved in investigating reports of UFOs and extraterrestrials,” the blog says. “For a few years after the Roswell incident, Director Hoover did order his agents—the request of the Air Force—verify any UFO sightings. That practice ended in July 1950, four months after the Hottel memo, suggesting that our Washington Field Office didn’t think enough of that flying saucer story to look into it.”
Although the FBI wants to clear up rumors about the memo and claims that it never confirmed that any sort of alien life forms had been found, the agency does admit that the sightings still remain a mystery – a statement that might instill hope among UFO believers.

A witness to the UK’s most famous UFO sighting says he may be suffering from the effects of radiation, and in a recent press release, points out that a UK Defence Intelligence (DI) report suggests that he may have been exposed to UFO radiation. Meanwhile, the U.S. Air Force says they have lost his service and medical records from that time.

It was reported this week that the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has admitted that they will be releasing more UFO files, despite having said that they had already released all of their UFO files. This current revelation has been due to the efforts of John Burroughs, a military witness to the UK’s most famous UFO sighting.
Burroughs says he has been seeking official answers as to what he might have experienced that night in December, 1980 when he and others witnessed a UFO. At the time, Burroughs was a U.S. Air Force security officer stationed at RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, which, along with nearby RAF Woodbridge, was on lease to the U.S. Air Force.
Since then he has had health problems and suspects that his UFO experience may have contributed to his condition. He says, “I have specific medical symptoms that are considered by some very knowledgeable people to be a fingerprint of a specific kind of radiation.”
It was actually a Freedom of Information Act Request (FOIA) he made in December that prompted the MoD to release these newly found UFO documents. However, coincidentally, the MoD did not actually post that information publicly until September 16, the day after Burroughs sent out a press release to many UK media outlets alerting them to his plight.
On the Mod’s weekly FOI responses site they posted a response to a letter by Andy Russell asking for the same files Burroughs was asking for, stating that they will release them, but it will take up to 9 months to process them first. Russell, a UK citizen, says he made the request after reading about Burroughs discussing the files at a talk in Sedona, Arizona.
Burroughs points out that in Volume 2, on page F4, there is a discussion about the effects of “UAP radiation” on humans. UAP, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, is a phrase used for UFO. It states, ” The well-reported Rendlesham Forest/Bentwaters event is an example where it might be postulated that several observers were probably exposed to UAP radiation for longer than normal UAP sighting periods.”
The document also noted the effects of “UAP radiation” in the next section:
An important fact is that the reported effects of (presumed) UAP radiation on humans is that it is quick-acting and remembered – although, curiously, following the event there is little or no recall of events as a continuum. In short, the witness often reports an apparent ‘gaps’ or ‘lost time’ – often not accounting for up to several hours.
This section of the DI memo was shocking to Burroughs. He suffers from congenital heart failure, and suspects it has something to do with his years of service. Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services denied his claim in 2012 and told him there was no record of him being in the Air Force in 1980. They said his military records began in 1982. He had actually joined in 1979. In fact, he had to work with Arizona Senator John McCain’s office to get his records corrected. As reported by Billy Cox of the Herald Tribune, Burroughs was told by a McCain staffer, “It took a yeoman’s job to get your DD214 corrected, but we may never be able to gain access to the missing USAF medical records from 1979 to 1983.”
Another witness to the events, James Penniston, is having similar problems receiving his medical records. They believe their files have been deliberately tampered with.
Burroughs is frustrated by the whole affair, and continues to seek to get the UK and US governments to release what they know about the Rendlesham Forest incident.
He is also very concerned that he, as a witness/victim, has had to do all of this research on his own. In particularl, he wonders why researchers, such as Dr. David Clark, who helped get some of these files released and aided the UK National Archives with talking points on the UFO file releases, did not spot some of this.
Burroughs says, “Clarke was able to pick out information on key cases such as Rendlesham, offering for public understanding that the MOD thought the issue was settled, but did not include the part where they said observers experienced radiation and other side effects at Rendlesham.”
Burroughs says he realizes, “[The radiation] is not proof that the phenomenon encountered is extraterrestrial in origin, but it suggests the possibility. I am not saying I know what the phenomenon was that we encountered. Only that it was.”

In 1938 vond de Duitse archeoloog Wilhelm König net buiten de Iraakse hoofdstad Bagdad 2000 jaar oude kruiken van klei die werden gebruikt als een soort batterijen. Met replica’s van de antieke artefacten was men in staat om stroom van 1,1 volt op te wekken. Mensen waren duizenden jaren eerder dan gedacht kennelijk al in staat om elektriciteit op te wekken.
De batterijen dateren zeer waarschijnlijk uit de tijd van Mesopotamië, uit de periode van de Arsaciden om precies te zijn. De objecten zijn duidelijk door mensen gemaakt en kunnen worden gebruikt om elektriciteit op te wekken. Het is onduidelijk welk doel ze zo’n 2000 jaar geleden dienden.
“De batterijen hebben altijd de aandacht getrokken,” zei dr. Paul Craddock van het British Museum. “Ze zijn uniek. Voor zover wij weten heeft nog nooit iemand iets soortgelijks gevonden. Het zijn vreemde dingen.”

De kruiken hebben een stop van asfalt. Een ijzeren staaf omringd door een koperen cilinder steekt door de stop. Aan de hand van de corrosie aan de binnenkant van de kruiken is afgeleid dat ze werden gevuld met azijnzuur of wijn. Met azijnzuur of andere elektrolyten kon elektriciteit worden opgewekt.
Het Smith College in Massachusetts maakte een replica van het apparaat. Op de website schrijven de onderzoekers: “De precieze functie van de kruik is niet bekend, maar het was waarschijnlijk een soort batterij. Wetenschappers denken dat de batterijen werden gebruikt om voorwerpen te galvaniseren. Op deze manier werd bijvoorbeeld een laag metaal (zilver) voorzien van een andere laag metaal (goud), een methode die nog altijd wordt toegepast in Irak.”

A radio message to Goddard Space Flight Center, the backup center for Houston-on March fourteenth 1989- was picked up by several sources at 06.42 Eastern Standard Time.
Two days before the St. John's symposium, on Tuesday, at about 1:30 am on the morning of May 9, 1998 police officer Louis Byrnes of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, spotted a lighted object in the sky.
The UFO flashed blue, red and white lights.
Byrnes radioed in to the Oklahoma Highway patrol and then kept the UFO under observation for forty five minutes.
In the meantime, the State Highway Patrol office at Oklahoma City was notified and it in turn alerted Tinker Airfare Base nearby.
The airbus reported having the object located on it's radarscope and also that there were no other aircraft aloft at that time, so that the unidentified blip was the only one on the screen.
The next night, May 10, a Wednesday night, diamond-shaped formations of UFO's which changed colors from red to white were seen for forty five minutes by patrolmen in three police cars cruising about Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Oklahoma highway patrol headquarters received so many calls from a wide area that it's teletype was jammed.
It's official report said the sightings came from Purcell north through the Norman area to Chandler and back through Meeker and Shawnee.
It also stated; "Oklahoma highway patrol units 26, 30, and 40 have also made visual sightings. Tinker air force base has had from seven to twelve of them on radar, at a time, and they advise that they are flying at approximately 22,000 feet.
At eight the next morning, the whole state was plunged into unexplained darkness for over an hour; a bright morning dawn became midnight. **
At C.I.A. Headquarters, in Quantico, Va. , Dr. Phyllis Boylan, Chief Officer of E.T.B.E. (Extraterrestrial Biological Entities) research read a presidential briefing paper to an office of seven committee members.
"The president is worried: yesterday, at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota at 0900, a saucer-shaped object landed approximately 50 yards beyond the fence surrounding a missile silo."

Missile maintenance examined the missile and warhead and found the nuclear components missing from the warhead."

It had blue color, like the sky, slowly changing to brown, like the desert floor, then silver, as though the color progression change of metal cooling.
Later, when his father had awoken, a shell had been discharged, missing from the chamber but there had been no memory of firing the gun.
The child had been swept into an overhead craft and examined by small, dark, large-eyed, hairless beings with
large pear-shaped heads, that extended in the back, a thin torso, long arms with three long fingers, spindly legs, no ears and mere slits for mouths.
The large black eyes had compelling power, but unlike their assurances to the contrary, he had felt pain unlike any imagined, and as he had screamed, they had penetrated parts of his body: ears, eyes, nose, head, sinuses, feet, arms, intestines, and legs had implant energy drains placed.
The large black-wet eyes had stared at him endlessly, extensively, close up to his head.
"This will not hurt."
But agony had suffused lines and channels in his body.
Terror, rage and pain had overcome him and the creatures, immune to his suffering, had said,
"You will forget."
When he had returned to the desert floor, forty minutes later, his father had looked switched off. eyes glazed, saliva dribbling from the right corner of his mouth.
The boy's sobbing had awakened his father who had
told him that he had imagined and had dreamed it.
"The Texas sun can give you heat stroke, son, make you see things", he had said and had held the shaking boy close, placing a hand over his son's forehead.
"We'll find some shade."
They had walked to the shade of hemlock and mesquite at the foot of rock outgrowth and his father had eaten bologna sandwiches with yellow mustard, washed down with canteen water.
But the child had held his father's hand and would not let go; he had stared upwards in fear.

Het water op aarde blijkt ouder te zijn dan onze zon. De ontdekking suggereert dat water een veelvoorkomend bestanddeel is van de stof- en gaswolken waaruit zonnestelsels worden geboren. Volgens onderzoekers is water niet zo ‘speciaal’ en is er een grote kans dat exoplaneten leven herbergen.
Gedacht wordt dat de zon ongeveer 4,5 miljard jaar oud is, maar het water op aarde werd mogelijk nog eerder gevormd als kleine ijskristallen die door de ruimte zweefden. Professor Tim Harries van de Universiteit van Exeter in Engeland zei: “We weten dat water van essentieel belang is voor de ontwikkeling van leven op aarde, maar het is mogelijk dat het water van de aarde al in het prille zonnestelsel bestond. Deze omstandigheden kunnen zich overal voordoen.”
“Toen we de oorsprong van het water op aarde bepaalden, ontdekten we dat de manier waarop ons zonnestelsel is gevormd niet uniek is en dat exoplaneten zich vormen in een waterrijke omgeving,” ging hij verder. “Op sommige exoplaneten kunnen de omstandigheden geschikt zijn voor de ontwikkeling van leven.”
Het internationale team van wetenschappers bestudeerde ijs dat sinds het ontstaan van het zonnestelsel bewaard is gebleven in kometen en asteroïden. Aan de hand van computersimulaties toonden ze aan dat het water in de oceanen, meteorieten en kometen eerder werd gevormd dan het zonnestelsel zelf.
Het water bevatte deuterium, een ‘zware’ isotoop van waterstof, wat erop wijst dat het afkomstig kan zijn uit de interstellaire ruimte. De onderzoekers hebben vastgesteld dat in ieder geval een deel van het water in het zonnestelsel en op aarde ouder is dan de zon.
Als andere zonnestelsels zich op een soortgelijke manier vormen, lijkt water een veelvoorkomend ingrediënt te zijn voor de vorming van planetaire systemen, aldus hoofdonderzoeker Ilsedore Cleeves van de Universiteit van Michigan.
Tot op heden heeft de Kepler-satelliet bijna 1000 planeten buiten het zonnestelsel ontdekt. Het onderzoek is verschenen in vakblad Science.

Ons sterrenstelsel, de Melkweg, gaat botsen met het naburige sterrenstelsel Andromeda en dat wordt niet fraai. Dat wisten we al enkele jaren, maar het Australische centrum voor radio-astronomisch onderzoek heeft daar nu een simulatie van gemaakt die ons een idee geeft van wat er onze planeet te wachten staat.
Deze simulatie maakt deel uit van onderzoek dat probeert aan te tonen dat reuzensterrenstelsels zoals Andromeda de neiging hebben kleinere sterrenstelsels zoals de Melkweg op te vreten om te groeien.
"In oorsprong zijn alle sterrenstelsels klein. Ze groeien door gas te verzamelen dat ze omzetten in sterren", zo stelt astronoom Aaron Robotham, die dit onderzoek leidde. "Nu en dan worden sterrenstelsels letterlijk opgeslokt door grotere sterrenstelsels".
U hoeft echter nog niet meteen naar de dichtstbijzijnde schuilkelder te rennen. De kans dat u het nog meemaakt, is uiterst gering. De botsing komt er immers pas over zo'n vijf miljard jaar.
Een Britse UFO-spotter die elke dag op de website van NASA de foto's bestudeert die de Marsmobiel Curiosity maakt, heeft daar zowaar een 'verkeerslicht' gezien.
Joseph White wreef even in zijn ogen toen hij de foto zag die de Curiosity op 19 september op de rode planeet maakte. Deze keer was het geen rat of een doughnut. "Van bij het begin volg ik de foto's van NASA, ik surf elke dag naar de website om de nieuwe beelden vanop Mars te bestuderen", verklaarde White aan Western Daily Press. "Toen ik deze foto zag, dacht ik 'secondje, hier is iets vreemds aan de gang'".
Terwijl White gelooft dat wat hij op de foto zag "duidelijk door een intelligent wezen is ontworpen", gaat het hoogstwaarschijnlijk om een rots.
Eerder deze week zag blogger Paul Scott Anderson een vreemde 'val' op Mars. Volgens wetenschappers bij NADA was het een sfeer rots die zijn bolvorm aan concretie te danken heeft, een proces waarbij mineralen hard en compact worden.
Eerder werden al een iguana, een vinger, een schedel en een dijbeen 'gezien' op foto's van Mars.
De Indiase Marssonde Mangalyaan, die gisteren in een baan rond de Rode Planeet is gekomen, heeft haar eerste foto's van het hemellichaam doorgestuurd. Dat heeft het Indiase ruimtevaartbureau ISRO laten weten.

De kleurencamera op de sonde is kort na het stabiliseren van de elliptische baan van de Mangalyaan aan het werk geschoten, goed voor een tiental foto's van het oppervlak en de omgeving, vertelde wetenschappelijk directeur V. Koteswara Rao tegenover het Franse persbureau AFP. De Mangalyaan zal ook foto's van de twee manen van Mars nemen en naar het vluchtleidingscentrum in Bangalore sturen.
Nog volgens Rao is alles normaal aan boord van de slechts 74 miljoen dollar kostende sonde die in de eerste plaats een technologische demonstratiemissie voert. Niettemin doet de Mangalyaan, ('Mom' of 'Mars Orbiter Mission' in het jargon) ook aan heus wetenschappelijk onderzoek, bijvoorbeeld naar de aanwezigheid van methaan in de atmosfeer. Which since we saw so few butterflies this year, may be a good sign. In a rare coincidence, a giant swarm of migrating monarch butterflies resembled a butterfly on radar for a short time Friday afternoon. Forecasters suspect hundreds of monarchs were flying between 5,000 feet and 6,000 feet (1,525 meters to 1,825 meters) above the ground, heading south to Mexico. Though small, their fluttering wings are good radar targets, the National Weather Service said on Facebook. No one saw the butterflies, but the radar signals suggest the “targets” were flapping, flat and biological, similar to a monarch.
Hummingbirds are migrating now as well, but the zippy birds prefer to fly at treetop level, ruling out a Hitchcock-like scenario, according to the weather service. The double-butterfly is not the first time a radar image mirrored its maker. In 2011, a startled flock of blackbirds in Beebe, Arkansas, looked like a bird’s head and beak. A strange radar image that puzzled forecasters in Huntsville, Alabama, in June 2013, turned out to be reflective particles used to test military radar. The butterfly blob’s timing matches up with a recent monarch exodus from the Great Lakes region, as tracked by the nonprofit Monarch Watch. The Eastern population spends summers spread across the Great Lakes and the northeastern United States and Canada, and then migrates in the fall toward Michoacan, in western central Mexico. (A Western population summers in California, but also winters in Mexico.) The monarchs may have gathered together because of favorable weather conditions. Monarchs take advantage of air currents to soar like birds, conserving energy for their two-month trip to Mexico. Sometimes the butterflies fly in ones or twos, but swarms of dozens or hundreds of stunning orange-winged insects have been sighted by people tracking their migration, according to Monarch Watch.

There is evidence that shows some of the tunnels, inside the Pyramids, have low enough oxygen levels, fire cannot be sustained to keep the tunnels illuminated. Were the ancient people using electricity? Is it possible Aliens showed them this technology as well as the means to build the pyramids? The picture on right shows a helicopter on the left and a spaceship on the right, but these are ancient hieroglyphs.

Teotihuacan - Ancient alien theorists have pointed out that some ancient monuments demonstrate a thorough knowledge of astronomy surpassing knowledge of later cultures. The Pyramid of the Sun at Mexico’s Teotihuacan, lies at the center of a complex of pyramids, each aligned with a planet in the solar system. How is this possible?

The medieval map known as the Piri Reis Map allegedly shows the Earth as it is seen from above. How is this possible in midieval times?
Here are two images from France, the cave of “Pech Merle” near “Le Cabrerets” c.17,000 – 15,000 BC. The scene depicts a landscape full of wildlife together. Can you see the saucer shaped objects? The UFO looking objects seem totally out of context.
Here are examples of rock art from Toro Muerto,Peru 12-14,000 years old. Notice the beings have some sort of halo or covering over their heads, almost as if they are supernatural or extraterrestrial (compare with the Val Camonica photo below). Also, in the left hand picture there is some sort of object left of the main being. Possibly a space craft or UFO ?

It seems to depict a small human looking man looking over his shoulder – at another UFO as if in pursuit – as he flies across the sky in what is clearly a space ship. The leading craft is decorated with two twinkling stars, one reminiscent of national insignia on modern aircraft. This painting hangs above the altar at the Visoki Decani Monestary in Kosovo, Yugoslavia.

Dreams should make us question reality When we dream at night, we don't realize that it is all happening in our minds. No matter how absurd and impossible a dream is, we never question it while asleep. In fact, the dream is so real to us, that when we wake up to this existence, we are emotionally affected by it. So what makes that a dream, and this a reality?
Dreams within the dream
After studying the life work of so many scientists (e.g. Dr. Ian Stevenson, Dr. Helen Wambach, Dr. Michael Newton) who were able to bring such conclusive evidence proving reincarnation, I am now a strong believer myself.
Holding this knowledge makes one decode this experience that we call "life on Earth," as being similar to "going to college" and partially explains the reason why we are here: to learn and evolve, one lesson at a time.
And as soon as we master all of the given lessons, we conclude the incarnation cycle and we proceed with new challenges, in a vastly superior dimension.
But this also means that we are now, in fact, still dreaming and everything around us is virtual, non-existing. The software that we are now part of, is designed to trick us into believing that all of this is real, when in fact, it is not.
According to the thousands of people who have been regressed into the life between lives by the Newton Institute professionals, everything that we experience here is designed to teach us important lessons. As soon as we die in this "reality," we instantly wake up as non-physical entities, with vastly superior capabilities as compared to those of a human vehicle.
This is also confirmed by those who have had a near-death experience or those who are able to consciously move out of the human vehicle through what is known as "astral projection."
This means that when we die, we are basically waking up from a collective dream. A very profound and intense one, but still a dream.
Let's do a quick recap:
When we dream, we don't question that "reality," no matter how absurd it becomes. For us, those things are real and we do our best to cope with everything. We only decode the experience as a dream, after we wake up. More or less, the same goes for life and death: after we die, we wake up in another "reality" and decode the previous one as yet another dream.
It's very similar to Inception's concept of dreams within the dream...
Yup, and it may very well be just the tip of the iceberg!
The Holographic Illusion of Reality
Pondering about dreams for a while will inevitably lead you to the conclusion that dreams are various states of holographic realities.
When we wake up from a dream, we can no longer interact with the dream world, because we have already moved out of it. Dreams are holographic realities created by our minds, and there are people who trained themselves to become aware while dreaming and consciously interact with the dream world around them.
(This technique is called lucid dreaming and there are various ways for everyone to learn it).
A similar thing happens to us when we die. Our consciousness moves not only out of the human vehicle, but also out of this holographic reality, thus making interaction with this realm almost impossible.

The ensalvers are basically broadcasting a web of negativity within this reality (and who knows within how many other), a low vibrational matrix of pain and sufferance, with the intent of torturing our minds and making us generate negative energies. If "they" are broadcasting this perverted version of reality from within this dimension, as all evidence suggests, then all we have to do in order to break free is to become aware and evolve beyond their vibration of control.

Paranormics wishes to be able to provide a conduit to Ufology for newcomers to this field. Many times when you are talking/debating with a UFO skeptic one of the first things out of their mouths is where’s the proof? If the stockholders of Lias Inc needed a blueprint for their plan to hoodwink wealthy investors with tales of crashed flying saucers and reverse engineered alien technology, they didn’t have to look very far. Conveniently for them, a blueprint already existed in the form of the Aztec UFO scam that fooled wealthy investor’s way back in the late 40′s and early 50′s.
Silas Newton (1887-1972) was a wealthy oil company con man who asserted he had a gadget that could detect minerals and oil. He was mentioned as an authority in Frank Scully’s book Behind the Flying Saucers, a work that maintained to report on several UFO crashes in the region of New Mexico. In 1950, Newton said that a flying saucer crashed on land he leased in the Mojave Desert; nonetheless, he revised his claim in 1952, saying he never saw a flying saucer but had just repeated remarks he heard from others. These files detail the FBI’s investigations into the deceptive actions of Newton between 1970 and 1951.
Frank Scully’s “Behind the Flying Saucers”, released in September 1950 by Henry Holt & Co, was a story of crashed flying saucers and dead alien bodies, mixed in with a load of nonsense about where they came from, how they got here and why. Dr Gee was supposedly a brilliant government scientist in the area of magnetic energy and told Scully he’d examined crashed flying saucers for the government. In fact, Dr Gee’s real name was Leo GeBauer and he owned a radio and tv parts shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Newton was the president of his own oil exploration company, the Newton Oil Company. It was this area of petroleum exploration where the two con artists were to earn the money from their saucer scam.
Newton was no stranger to swindling wealthy people out of their hard-won money. In September 1934, Newton was arrested and charged with selling a person $25,000 of unworthy stock. He was also inquired for two occurrences of stock fraud and was sued for tricking another individual out of $28,000. His Flying Saucer/Brilliant Scientist scam were more money than him and GeBauer ever could have dreamed of.

Nazca Lines of Kazakhstan: More Than 50 Geoglyphs Discovered
More than 50 geoglyphs with various shapes and sizes, including a massive swastika, have been discovered across northern Kazakhstan in Central Asia, say archaeologists.
These sprawling structures, mostly earthen mounds, create the type of landscape art most famously seen in the Nazca region of Peru.
Discovered using Google Earth, the geoglyphs are designed in a variety of geometric shapes, including squares, rings, crosses and swastikas (the swastika is a design that was used in ancient times). Ranging from 90 to 400 meters (295 to 1,312 feet) in diameter, some of them are longer than a modern-day aircraft carrier. Researchers say that the geoglyphs are difficult to see on the ground, but can easily be seen from the sky. [See Photos of the Amazing Geoglyphs in Kazakhstan]

Over the past year, an archaeological expedition from Kazakhstan's Kostanay University, working in collaboration with Vilnius University in Lithuania, has been examining the geoglyphs. The team, which is conducting archaeological excavations, ground-penetrating radar surveys, aerial photography and dating, recently presented its initial results at the European Association of Archaeologists' annual meeting in Istanbul.
Many of the geoglyphs were made of earthen mounds, although one example, a swastika, was made using timber.
Archaeological excavations uncovered the remains of structures and hearths at the geoglyphs, suggesting that rituals took place there, said archaeologists Irina Shevnina and Andrew Logvin, of Kostanay University, in an email to Live Science. Ancient tribes may also have used the geoglyphs to mark ownership of the land, the researchers noted.
"As of today, we can say only one thing — the geoglyphs were built by ancient people. By whom and for what purpose, remains a mystery," said Shevnina and Logvin.
Why they're builders used geometric shapes is also a mystery, although the swastika is an ancient symbol found throughout Europe and Asia.
Geoglyphs around the world
While Peru's Nazca Lines are the world's most famous geoglyphs, archaeological research suggests that geoglyphs were constructed in numerous areas around the world by different cultures.
For instance, in the Middle East, archaeologists have found thousands of wheel-shaped structures that are easily visible from the sky, but hard to see on the ground. Also recently in Russia, archaeologists excavated a geoglyph shaped like an elk, which appears older than the Nazca Lines.
Ancient geoglyphs have also been reported in many other countries, including the United Kingdom, Brazil and even the Southwestern United States. The introduction of high-resolution Google Earth imagery over the last decade has helped both professional archaeologists and amateurs detect and study these enigmatic structures.
