Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

ABDUCTION RECOLLECTION:
He is flying high over a lush green tree landscape, over rolling tree lined hills and though he
knows that it must be night, within the tractor light-beam, under a moving craft, the fields and countryside below are lit up as though it were day, but he knows it's night, because he is told that he is dreaming.
For a few brief seconds, until he is drawn into the craft, he sees the green granular nature of the trees below, and feels the visual exhilaration of flying, but rather than fear, he is filled with a combined sense of peace and joyous happiness.
He marvels at the texture and color of his neighborhood, and his movement above it.
He is dreaming, but he is awake.
The smaller craft lands near a much larger ship, hiding in plain sight, in a field.
He is told by a small, dark, grey alien, always just out of sight, that he is to wait on line, for a tour of a country estate.
He is numb and is dreaming
but he feels that he is awake.
He moves forward, people in front of him and in back of him, on a narrow path surrounded by a false screen memory of a flat, unidimensional static scene, a photograph of an English garden.
It is hot and humid with the rank smell of soil.
People clutch what looks like brochures and move slowly in a single line, towards the country estate, bored, and only mildly interested.
He approaches the door of the large alien craft.
A ticket taker sits at the entrance way, on a stool behind a lectern, observing the entering crowd, a doorway official seen as a slim teenager.
He thinks it odd, that such a young caretaker should seemingly be in charge, and as he lifts his eyes to meet the teen's gaze, the young boy turns into a kindly old man.
"It's mind control, not shape-shifting", he is told, by a sonorous tour-guide's voice, in answer to his unasked thought.
Everyone is awake but also dreaming.
Inside is a waiting room, dirty, dull and round, a white room with no adornments and a black floor.
He awakens, dreaming and feels that the room is in flight.
It is a dream within a dream.
Awake again, briefly, he is dreaming while standing upright, walking in his sleep, climbing a steep metal stairway ladder path-bridge, that leads to a very large room at the top of the stairs.
Someone in front of him dreams, and wakes up dreaming.
He looks to his right, as he climbs, to see an enormous domed -curved window which makes up the staircase's whole upper wall of the alien craft, and as he climbs, feeling very numb,
he pauses, and stops the line of mass abducted people.
He looks out of the window and sees the Earth and the Moon, opposite each other, hanging in the blackness of space.
He places his arms on the curved railing where the staircase meets the bottom of the window and cups his chin in his hands, to understand the raw beauty of what he sees:
Outside is blackness.
The Earth, in the far right portion of the glass window, hangs suspended in a black nothingness, a planet swimming in blue-white haze, with a large red area, perhaps, the desert of North Africa, or the Arabian peninsula.
Silver and bright, the Moon, far to the left portion of the glass, also hangs suspended in a black nothingness.
Far away, violet splashes of nebulae, and points of red pinpoint starlight, intersperse with millions of white stars.
Chin in his hands, he leans over and says in a wistful, admiring tone,
"These people who live at THIS estate have some view; what a view!"
The small, dark, grey alien tour guide became startled and all at once, the window's 3-D space scene, becomes a painted uni-dimensional flat portrait, of an English garden landscape.
Chin in hands, still looking out of the window, but now at the expanse of poster-like green lawn, of a garden landscape, he dully repeats,
"They DO have a nice view!"
The tour guide, startled to hear him repeat this praise, seemingly unaware that the scene of the garden had already worked to distract him, knee-jerk- reflex -overreacted; he is slammed with a mind control jolt.
The alien creature tightens and magnifies its short psychic leash of control to throw him into a vivid emotional ecstasy, and he feels compelled to look down at his feet, and away from the window's view.
The simple metallic ladder- path underfoot, transforms into carved inlaid wood one, delicately patterned and dazzlingly ornate, an inlaid ebony and maple wood design, cryptic and deeply beautiful in motif and complexity.
He is forced to kneel to examine it, his eyes now fully away from the stars, Earth and moon, seen outside the enormous, curved window .
Powerful awe, love, and wood -admiration, a godlike reverence of wood, flashes through his mind at the mirage of the intricate wood designed staircase, suspended in air.
Complex, gorgeous and lushly constructed, a staircase in multicolored woods, forces an almost religious awe, which courses through his brain, to thrill him, a tsunami of reverent awe for the dazzling wood patterns, and for the unknown artist-architect, overwhelms and distracts him, a gifted attempt to get him to forget what he has seen outside of the craft's window.
The sleeping line of climbing people is now fully stopped by his fawning and repeated examinations, of the simple metal staircase, as he repeatedly retraces his steps to examine it, in a rapture.
The tour guide, just out of sight, presumes that the delusion is strong enough to have worked and he hears a resonant, deep, paternal, impatient voice, now within his head,
"Just keep going; it will be there, for you to see, when you get back."
"But, things change so quickly, in dreams", he thinks,
"and this gorgeous wood stairway, will likely not be there, when I return."
He lingers, enthralled.
The alien ' guide', who tethers him and all the others, within a snug cocoon of illusions, had deftly made a simple, metal staircase, the un-rightful recipient of that stolen awe, of the magnificent scene viewed outside the craft's window.
But when he awakens, he DOES remember the staircase and his monumental awe of the spectacular space scene, outside the curved window, of the alien craft;
" Astounding creatures, uncanny, psychic, mind-bending, short- leash-controls." he dully thinks, when he awakens exhausted, with a dull headache and a copious nose bleed, more tired getting up, than he had been, going to bed.

Abductions and their remnant elusive memories have opened all this for me, a confirmed atheist, UNTIL I saw aliens float me out of my body, in my bed, at night.

Unidentified craft continue making their presence felt throughout the region, according to accounts from dozens of eyewitnesses who claim having seen them in broad daylight and under various circumstances. In many cases, this was confirmed by dozens of photographs submitted to the Centro de Estudios UFO (CEUFO). These reports were also received from such neighboring countries as Chile, from where we received images from people who trust our work.

On Saturday, February 12, 2014, specifically, when a storm neared the city of Santa Rosa around 20:00 hours, several eyewitnesses from a neighborhood in the southeastern part of the city phoned to report the presence of eight (8) strange “lights” which plunged into the clouds – in the middle of the storm – after maneuvering in a perfect straight line formation — something that no conventional vehicle would do.
In another occasion, Lucas Lucero, a devoted collaborator of our center, managed to capture a vessel in broad daylight with his camera from the city of General Pico.. A few days ago, on Friday the 25th, a woman reported the transit of “several craft around 12 noon at high speed” which she later reported to some news outlets. The phenomenon is “there”, and it is a fact for which we hitherto lack an explanation.
In the video you will see a a dark shaped object moving, it disappears behind some clouds.
It is hard to tell how far off into the distance this UFO is, but judging by the clouds in the foreground, the UFO seems like it is far from the plane.

The object approaches the plane in apparently purposeful manner, heading straight for contrails, where it hangs for a while before exiting the trail.
According to Examiner.com, the close up reveals that, although there seems to be a flashing, navigational beacon on the UFO, its shape and configuration resembles no known aircraft, such as a helicopter, airplane or even a drone.

Luis Rodriguez was walking his dog at approximately 7:30 p.m. on the night of Saturday, October 11 when he noticed the unusual aerial object. NBC Charlotte reports that, after watching the UFO move through the sky, Rodriguez “believes it was a UFO, a spaceship of some sort.”
“Tried to make sense of it just like any other rational person would,” he states. “I thought it was a plane or some sort of aircraft that was just flying really low.”

The station sent Rodriguez’s video to Catherine Qualtrough, Observatory Director and Astronomy Lab Manager at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). She opines that the object in the video looks strange, but she states, “Of course, normally in these situations, we find a simple explanation.”
Looking for that simple explanation, NBC Charlotte reporter Dan Yesenosky considered the possibility that the UFO sighting could be related to an event taking place nearby at the same time as the sighting.
The Bank of America 500 NASCAR race occurred at Charlotte Motor Speedway the night of the sighting. And the speedway is just minutes from Rodriguez’s apartment. The race, which began at approximately 7:48 p.m., was preceded by a flyover by Team AeroDynamix. And video of this flyover strongly resembles the UFO seen by Rodriguez.
Yesenosky showed video of the flyover to Rodriguez, who acknowledges the similarity to what he observed in the sky. But he’s not completely convinced. “I didn’t see different aircrafts together,” he explains to NBC Charlotte. “I saw just a perfect V-shape, slim V-shape up above the sky.” But from his vantage point, it’s understandable how he could view the close flying of Team AeroDynamix as one craft.
Representatives from the Charlotte Motor Speedway and Qualtrough from UNCC agree that the flyover is most likely the v-shaped UFO Rodrigues captured on video.

A passenger flying from Chicago to Los Angeles reported watching a disc-shaped object that moved close to the plane, according to testimony in Case 60579 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The plane was descending into Los Angeles about 5:30 p.m. on October 7, 2014, when the object was first seen.
“I was in the back of the plane looking out the window,” the witness stated.”As we descended we passed a silver sphere.”
The witness described the object’s location very close to the plane.
“It was about three feet past the wing and about three feet below the wing. It was 5:30 p.m. and still daylight. The object reflected the sunlight.”
The witness described the object.
“It was about four feet around. I got a good look at it because I saw it coming and watched it as we passed it. Definitely not a balloon. I was pretty scared after I saw it because it was so close to the wing. If we had hit it, we would have crashed.”
California MUFON is investigating. California has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 – 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 – 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 – 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.
This NASA pic from Mars has to be the most amazing evidence yet to do with intelligent life on Mars, the picture is so good it had to be kept from media so the wider world have no clue this exists, only us the NASA archive searchers would get the chance of seeing the mysterious picture. Cross shaped with a circle around it, this wort be found on any rock formation on earth yet this very small cross was found on the huge Mars surface, If this is 1 find already then the likely hood of finding more explosive evidence must be round the corner “OR” in the archives still to be found. So why did media not get hold of this? unless NASA servers know what media servers are searching and can block the press from finding such a pic.
U.S. Scientist unveil NASA’s secrets about cities on the Moon and microbes on Mars. The former manager of the Data and Photo Control Department at NASA’s Lunar Receiving Laboratory during the manned Apollo Lunar Program, Ken Johnston, has released quite a number of sensational statements recently in the USA. The specialist said that U.S. astronauts found ancient ruins of artificial origin and a previously unknown technology to control gravitation when then landed on the Moon. Astronauts took pictures of the objects that they found, but NASA ordered Johnston to destroy the images. Johnston did not follow the order. He said that the U.S. government had been keeping this information a secret for 40 years. Johnston’s startling Apollo allegations have recently appeared in a new book, “Dark Mission: the Secret History of NASA,” co-authored by former NASA consultant and CBS Science Advisor, Richard C. Hoagland and Mike Bara, an aerospace engineering consultant. According to Kay Ferrari, JPL Director of the SSA Program (in a phone call to Johnston last week), it was Johnston “being quoted [as] criticizing NASA in Hoagland’s new book, ‘Dark Mission,’” that prompted her to ask for Johnston’s resignation from the SSA Program. When Johnston refused, citing First Amendment protections of free speech afforded all NASA employees, even those at JPL, Ferrari apparently decided to remove him arbitrarily from the SSA Program this week without cause. The low quality pictures included in the book depict ruins of buildings, huge dome-like objects made of glass, stone towers and castled hanging in the air.
The South Wales Evening Post says, “Even the most sceptical [sic] viewer has to admit that something funny is going on in this video.”
The video (seen above) was submitted to the South Wales Evening Post by reader Jason Williams. He says he saw the objects yesterday afternoon while in the town of Swansea, and was sure they were not lights reflecting on his windshield.

Williams told the Evening Post, “They were hovering around in the clouds, and eventually two disappeared but one remained in sight, then it eventually went behind the clouds.”

In the UK, many UFOs have turned out to be misidentified Chinese Lanterns, but Williams doesn’t believe that to be the case with his video. He said, “They didn’t seem to be those chinese lanterns as they looked very high and a lot brighter than the lanterns usually are. They didn’t move like lanterns either.”
In the video, there are three small bright objects that can be seen above a building. The Evening Post describes them as “strange sparkling lights high in sky.”
The objects do not appear to be the same color as normal Chinese Lanterns, which are also typically launched at night. Not during the day as in Williams’ video. However, it is possible they are balloons reflecting in the sun.
The Evening Post posted the video on their Facebook and Twitter accounts, asking readers to let them know what they think. So far, no commenter has come up with another theory to explain the mysterious lights.
However, a stand-up comedian named Phil Evans in nearby Ammanford did take the opportunity to make a joke about it. He wrote, “One landed in my garden on 1st of October at 11.59 pm. Clearly it was lost, so I went to offer assistance and it took off like a shot, with my clothes line attached. I’ve since had to purchase new socks, pyjamas [sic]and a continental quilt cover. That’s the first and last time I’m offering to help a space ship. It’s not worth it.”

Witness said: I was watching the weather report on tv one on 05/10/14 when they started to show Auckland through a live camera. Suddenly I saw this strange object coming from behind the cloud, getting brighter and disappearing at high speed towards the Sky Tower. It is possible to see its trail moving fast behind the tower. It happeneed in Auckland – New Zealand and I dont know what it could have been.
Witness said: Wife & I driving on hwy I-85 westbound. Sky had multiple cloud formations. My wife held cell phone out window and was snapping shots as we rode. After about 7 shots she stopped. Nothing was viable in sky as we rode. After snapping pics we were looking at them. On the last photo we saw the 4 objects which looked like exhaust coming out of bottom. One or two previous shots showed faint blurred images which I assume we’re part of this 4 but not as close. Never saw items, only appeared in photo. After seeing these my wife and I wondered how we had pics when nothing was visable. Othere who have seen the pic are also wondering how this could be.

Tijdreizen wordt al sinds de negende eeuw voor Christus beschreven, in een tekst van de Mahabharata. Zelfs onze voorouders vroegen zich af of we door de tijd kunnen reizen. Terwijl natuurkundigen de wetenschap achter tijdreizen blijven bestuderen, zijn er maar weinig mensen die gewoon vragen of er ook mensen uit de toekomst onder ons zijn.
Ze bestaan: mensen die uit de toekomst komen. Tenminste, op internet. De één zegt een soort geheim agent te zijn die in 2061 samen met andere agenten is teruggestuurd naar 2011. Ze moesten getuigenissen met rampzalige gevolgen analyseren en erachter komen wie daar verantwoordelijk voor waren.
Een andere ‘tijdreiziger’ vertelt op zijn blog over grote gebeurtenissen die in de toekomst zullen plaatsvinden. Zo zouden we in 2051 zeker weten dat UFO’s en buitenaardsen bestaan en breekt volgend jaar de derde wereldoorlog uit.
Feestje voor tijdreizigers
Veel natuurkundigen zeggen dat tijdreizen mogelijk is. Gizmodo heeft een aantal manieren op een rij gezet waarop men naar tijdreizigers zoekt. Volgens kosmoloog Stephen Hawking is het mogelijk dat de mens in de toekomst vooruit kan reizen in de tijd. Om ver vooruit in de tijd te reizen zal een ruimteschip 99,99 procent van de lichtsnelheid moeten bereiken.
Als dat gebeurt zal er in de tijd gereisd worden. Volgens Hawking komt dat doordat de tijd in de ruimte sneller gaat dan op aarde. Hoe hoger de snelheid is die door het ruimteschip wordt bereikt, hoe minder tijd er in het schip voorbij gaat in vergelijking met de aarde. Een dag op het ruimteschip staat dan gelijk aan een jaar op aarde, aldus de wetenschapper.
Hawking organiseerde al eens een feestje voor tijdreizigers, waarbij hij de uitnodigingen verstuurde toen het feestje al voorbij was. Op die manier zouden alleen mensen uit de toekomst van het evenement afweten. Helaas kwam er niemand opdagen.
Conventie van tijdreizigers
In mei 2005 organiseerde het Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) een bijeenkomst met de bedoeling contact te maken met tijdreizigers uit de toekomst. De zogeheten Conventie van tijdreizigers was van tevoren aangekondigd, en er waren bijna 500 normale bezoekers aanwezig.
De plaats en tijd van de conventie worden ook achteraf nog regelmatig gepubliceerd, zodat toekomstige tijdreizigers ervan op de hoogte zijn en in staat zijn om de conventie bijgewoond te hebben.
Alle tijdreizigers uit de toekomst waren welkom, er waren geen kledingvoorschriften. De organisatoren wilden alleen een duidelijk bewijs dat de tijdreizigers uit de toekomst afkomstig waren, zoals een demonstratie van een geavanceerde technologie. Er kwamen op de conventie uiteindelijk geen tijdreizigers opdagen.

Wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Michigan speurden het internet af naar tijdreizigers. Ze tikten zoektermen in die de mensheid pas na een bepaalde datum leerde kennen, waaronder ‘komeet ISON’ en paus Franciscus’, en keken of ze per ongeluk al eens eerder waren gebruikt door een tijdreiziger.
Ook vroegen ze aan twitteraars om gebruik te maken van bepaalde hashtags. Mensen die deze hashtags al voor de oproep hadden gebruikt, moesten wel tijdreizigers zijn. Deze tijdreizigers werden echter niet gevonden. Het feit dat ze niet zijn aangetroffen, bewijst volgens de wetenschappers niet dat tijdreizen onmogelijk is.
“Its really a beautiful figure of a glowing alien entity standing near a small saucer. This entity has been seen in about 3-4 other photos and it always appears as pure light and even once had wings. I am glad to see that aliens have an interest in human activities, but I certainly hope that when we need their assistance, that they intervene to lend a hand,” says Scott Waring, author of UFO Sightings Daily.

Three South Dakota campers in Black Hills National Forest reported encountering a glowing UFO that moved toward them at ground level, according to testimony in Case 60560 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The three friends drove in from the Twin Cities arriving in Rapid City, SD, on the morning of Friday, June 20, 2014, stopping at a camping store for supplies. Armed with a national park map, they decided to explore a remote location that required driving an hour and-a-half to a camp ground.
“We geared up and began a hike up a nearby mountain,” the reporting witness stated. “The hike was very strenuous. It was not a designated trail and involved a lot of climbing over fallen trees. After a couple hours we reached the summit and found an area with a clearing in the trees and a suitable place to set up a base camp.”
The three immediately got busy with setting up their camp for the night.
“We built a fire ring out of stones, started a fire, and ate dinner as it began to get dark. That time of year the sun doesn’t set until late. It doesn’t get completely dark until almost 10 p.m., but when it does the stars really come out. There was zero light pollution and not a cloud on the sky. We sat and admired the stars as we listened to music and talked about our plans to hike to the top of mountain peak tomorrow.”
The witness first noticed the UFO as looking like a bright star.
“As I was looking towards the horizon, I noticed a very unusually large star giving off a lot of light. It was just above the horizon and visible through the trees. It appeared to be hovering in place, but as it clearly was moving I figured it had to be a plane.”

But now the hovering object appeared to be moving.
“But as I watched it as best I could through the forest, I noticed it was clearly changing its path and trajectory. It was ascending and descending, shooting left, stopping, hovering, and zooming left and up again. I pointed this out to my two buddies. I shined the flash light on it and said – there’s no-way that could be a plane. We were all observing the object now. It was obviously under some kind of intelligent control, but wasn’t making a sound.”
One of the campers suggested they turn down their music to hear the object.
“As we did that, the UFO started to descend. It was now below the tree line and began to come closer. I’m shining my light on it when the fear set in that this was not something that we could explain.”
Another camper suggested they also turn off their lights.
“The object was giving off a lot of light. It was so bright that it was illuminating all the grass below it and causing the trees between its location and ours to cast shadows. It was now maybe only 10-15 feet above the ground and heading in the direction of our tent.”
The object continued to move closer.
“Where we set up the fire was only about 100 feet from the tent. The object was now only a rock’s throw away. We all held our breath – were silent – frozen in a fear that we are alone in the woods with this glowing object that has no explanation. It reached a point directly above our tent and stopped.”
It then appeared to the campers that the object was actually observing them.
“There is a direct line of sight between our position and the object. It seemed to turn and directly observe us. I began to move out of its view, but without ever taking my eyes off it. There seemed to be an energy in the air. This was the most powerful experience of my life. Just as mysteriously as it arrived, it disappeared right in front of us. We were all pretty shook. ‘WOW! So bizarre. Is it gone? Is it coming back? Are we ok?’ These are the questions going through our minds.”
The group of campers considered their immediate situation.
“We really didn’t know if we were in danger. We’re all alone in the woods. There is no immediate help. We don’t have the use of any cell phones, no weapons. It was really an incredible experience. We all asked each other if this really just happened. It would’ve been easier to simply block it out. It’s pretty mind blowing to become aware of something like this. We all agreed we all saw the same thing. I remember seeing a plane and finding comfort in something I recognized and had an explanation for.”
The reporting witness wanted to make the group comfortable before any panic set in.
“So I started the music and built the fire back up. We were all throwing logs on the fire when all of a sudden, a light flashed and an object went streaking across the sky above us leaving a tail behind it.”
The witness described the object.
“It was tearing through the air and burning in bright colors as it lit up the forest below. It began to fall into the canyon between the mountain we were on and the one across from us. As it fell, it exploded and burnt up in vibrant colors of blue, turquoise and aqua.”
The only idea among them was that the object was a meteorite.
“But I can’t help but feel like this was directly related to the UFO. I’ve seen hundreds of shooting stars in my life, but all have burned in colors of white or yellow, never blue. And rarely could I so much as hear one, much less be shook by its intensity as it burns up and explodes.”
The reporting witness said he stayed up at this point until the sun rose.
“As we sat on the edge of the mountains talking about the experience, we witnessed two more UFOs moving across the sky that night. The first was traveling at what appeared to be a very high altitude. It de-accelerated, stopped, changed trajectory, accelerated, and then took off out of sight. The second behaved in a similar matter.”
The reporting witness attempted to videotape the objects seen that night.
“I had a video camera with me the whole night. I attempted to record all three objects. The camera could not make out the lights in the dark. There is however a few seconds in the video where the first object can be seen through the trees darting up, down, left and right.”
Black Hills National Forest is located in southwestern South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming. The forest has an area of over 1.25 million acres. South Dakota MUFON is investigating.

Ghosts ‘possess woman and then write letters using her hands’
This woman claims she allows ghosts to possess her and then use her hands to write letters.
It may sound like a scene from the Ghost film but Catherine Kennedy swears she is being manoeuvred by a spirit that has inhabited her.
The video shows her sitting at a desk in Scotland and then beginning to ‘automatically’ write.
Kennedy claims to have brought together her husband Antonio and one of his dead friends Ivo after writing a letter in Italian, despite not being able to speak it fluently.
‘At first he (husband) didn’t believe me, but when he read the letters he said it was obvious it wasn’t me,’ she said.
‘He was amazed at my flawless translation.’
If that wasn’t enough Kennedy also says she was told what goes on in the afterlife.

With a shout of “Viking!” as he waved aloft a silver arm-ring, metal detector enthusiast Derek McLennan knew he had found something remarkable.
What he did not realise was that the treasure trove of more than 100 items – including gold and silver jewellery, ingots and a unique enamelled cross – was one of the most significant Viking hoards ever discovered in Scotland.
When the spot where Mr McLennan, 47, made his original find was fully explored, an archaeologist unearthed a silver cup containing more items wrapped in cloth.
The contents of the Carolingian cup, engraved with animals and one of only three known in Britain imported from the Holy Roman Empire of Charlemagne and his successors, are still to be X-rayed and their provenance revealed.
The discovery, the largest and most important Viking treasure found in Scotland since 1891, was made while Mr McLennan was exploring fields owned by the Church of Scotland in Dumfries with fellow detectorists the Rev David Bartholomew and the pastor of Elim Pentecostal Church, Mike Smith, both from Galloway.
Mr McLennan said he was rendered speechless at what he had unearthed two feet beneath the ground – well below the depth his machine should pick up a signal.
Among the items was the early Christian solid silver cross with enamelled decorations, thought to date from the ninth or tenth century.
Mr McLennan, who thinks the decorations could represent the four evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, said: “I believe they resemble the carvings you can see on the remnants of St Cuthbert’s coffin in Durham cathedral. For me, the cross opens up the possibility of an intriguing connection with Lindisfarne and Iona.”
Experts said while the hoard shares elements with other spectacular Viking age finds, this new hoard is of international interest because of its unique mixture of gold, silver, glass, enamel and textiles.
Church of Scotland trustees have reached an agreement with Mr McLennan for an equitable sharing of the reward when the hoard’s value is assessed.
Other items include a golden bird pin, silver stamp-decorated bracelets from Ireland and beads commonly found in Scandinavia.
Mr Bartholomew said: “It was tremendously exciting, especially when we noticed the silver cross lying face-downwards. It was poking out from under the pile of silver ingots and decorated arm-rings, with a finely wound silver chain still attached to it.”
Fiona Hyslop, the culture secretary, said: “It’s clear these artefacts are of great value in themselves, but their greatest value will be in what they can contribute to our understanding of life in early medieval Scotland, and what they tell us about the interaction between the different peoples in these islands at that time.” – Scotsman
Thousands of spiders ‘bleed out of the walls’ and force family from home
A family was driven from their suburban St Louis home by thousands of venomous spiders that fell from the ceiling and oozed from the walls.
Brian and Susan Trost bought the $450,000 home overlooking two golf holes at Whitmoor Country Club in Weldon Spring in October 2007. Soon after that, they started seeing brown recluse spiders everywhere, the St Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
Susan Trost told St Louis television station KMOV-TV that in 2012 the spiders “started bleeding out of the walls”, and at least two pest control companies were unable to eradicate the infestation.
The couple filed a claim in 2008 with their insurance company, State Farm, and a lawsuit against the home’s previous owners for not disclosing the brown recluse problem.
At a civil trial in St Charles County in October 2011, University of Kansas biology professor Jamel Sandidge – considered one of the nation’s leading brown recluse researchers – estimated there were between 4,500 and 6,000 spiders in the home. Making matters worse, he said, those calculations were made in the winter – when the spiders are least active.
The jury awarded the couple slightly more than $472,000, but the former owners declared bankruptcy, the insurance company still didn’t pay anything and the couple moved out two years ago.
The home, now owned by the Federal National Mortgage Association, was covered with nine tarps this week as workers filled it with a gas that permeated the walls to kill the spiders and their eggs.
“There’ll be nothing alive in there after this,” said Tim McCarthy, president of the company hired to fix the problem once and for all. – The Guardian
