Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Open Minds UFO Radio: John Burroughs is one of the primary witnesses to a mass UFO sighting in December, 1980. He and others saw UFOs on multiple nights near the Bentwaters Royal Air Force Base in Suffolk, UK, which was on lease to the US Air Force. Now he is suffering from medical issues that may be related to these events, but is being denied his military medical records. Are These The Roswell Aliens?
Shortly before Boyd Bushman passed away on August 7, 2014, he was video recorded candidly speaking about his personal experiences with Area 51, UFOs, aliens and anti-gravity ideas.
Boyd was a retired Senior Scientist for Lockheed Martin.
His career spanned over forty years, was awarded many patents, and included work with defense contractors Hughes Aircraft, General Dynamics, Texas Instruments, and Lockheed Martin.
At a time when sightings of the nation’s most elusive inhabitant were treated with gravity by British officialdom, it was a fiendish plan to snatch her from under Scottish noses.
Newly discovered documents have revealed how the National History Museum (NHM) in London appealed to so-called bounty hunters to help secure the carcase of the Loch Ness monster, according to a new book.
It claims the files, dating back to the 1930s, show staff at the institution were keen to steal a march on museums in Scotland and around the world by exhibiting all – or part – of the beast’s remains.
Although Nessie now occupies a prized place in Scottish mythology alongside flying haggis and Brigadoon, the correspondence from the museum’s archives demonstrate the seriousness with which early rumours of her existence were treated.
In 1934, a year after the first sightings of a supposedly mysterious creature lurking in the loch’s depths, the book claims, an NHM employee made clear it would be keen to trump institutions such as Edinburgh’s Royal Scottish Museum (RSM).
In a letter dated March of that year, the unnamed official responded to questions about the museum’s policy on Nessie. The message was black and white.
“Should you ever come within range of the ‘Monster’ I hope you will not be deterred by humanitarian considerations from shooting him on the spot and sending the carcase to us in cold storage, carriage forward,” the letter stated, before adding: “Short of this, a flipper, a jaw or a tooth would be very welcome.”
The remarkable advice is detailed in Britain’s X-traordinary Files, a book examining various myths and stories in the country’s folklore.
Author David Clarke said while researchers already knew about similar files at the RSM, the discovery of similar documents at the NHM left him “astonished”.
He said: “Many influential people – including MPs and famous naturalists like Sir Peter Scott – believed in the existence of Nessie and a lot of pressure was placed on the Scottish Office to give it special protection.
“During the 1930s, the monster became an important symbol for Scottish Nationalists who wanted the police to protect the creature from big game hunters.
“Nessie had become a Scottish icon – a symbol of national identity.”
He added: “There was genuine outrage at the possibility that the corpse of the monster might be taken for display in London.”
While the NHM was working behind the scenes to secure the creature, the RSM warned against the prospect of Nessie being put on display south of the Border.
In a 1934 letter to the then secretary of state for Scotland, Sir Godfrey Collins, the museum staked Edinburgh’s claim to the carcase.
It stated: “The museum urges strongly that the RSM have the reversionary rights to the ‘Monster’ if and when its corpse should become available.
“We think the Monster should not be allowed to find its last resting place in England.
“Such a fate would surely outrage Scottish nationalism which at the moment is thriving greatly under the Monster’s beneficent influence.”
The Scotland Office opened a file on the monster in December 1933 in Edinburgh after being bombarded with inquiries from the press.
According to more files found in Edinburgh, pressure was already growing for a special act of parliament to prevent Nessie being killed or captured.
The campaign was led by Inverness MP Murdoch MacDonald who assured Sir Godfrey the creature was no myth.
“Evidence of its presence can be taken as undoubted. Far too many people have seen something abnormal to question its existence,” he wrote.
He demanded a bill be put before parliament to protect the creature and asked Sir Godfrey what could be done to spare it from harm in the meantime.
Sir Godfrey was advised there was “no law for the protection of Monsters” and “great fish, including those of no known denomination, may be claimed by The Crown”.
In later decades, the NHM’s appetite for all matters Nessie waned considerably. The archives show that in October 1959, it wrote to employees warning them the trustees “do not approve of the spending of official time or official leave on the so-called Loch Ness phenomena”. – Scotsman

The image was captured by Rob Spacey, of Derby, during a night out at The Old Bell Hotel in Derby which is listed as one of the most haunted hotels in the UK.
He explained: “A friend of mine works in the Sadlergate pub which is renowned for being haunted.
“Just before locking up time when everyone had left we took a photograph of the corner not knowing at the time the image which had been captured.”
It is believed the photograph shows ‘Mabel the Linen Maid’ – one of the many ghosts believed to haunt the building.
Mabel is understood to have taken her own life in Room 6 after finding out she was pregnant to her lover who had died in some war.
Guests that have booked that room for the night have found their clothes neatly folded at the bottom of their bed, thinking that someone had been in their room when they were asleep, they complained to the landlord only to be told that the staff would not have done this. – Derby Telegraph
Amateur photographer captures a strange object in the skies over Plaza Libertad in this community of Entre Rios Province.
Date: 10.27.2014: A strange object can be seen in an image captured this afternoon (Monday, Oct. 21) at Plaza Libertad in Rosario del Tala. Some believe it may be a UFO.
Journalist Ivan Rodríguez, a native of Rosario del Tala and a fan of photography for some years, took some photos of the Libertad gardens in the locality, but he was truly surprised when he downloaded the images to his computer.
Rodríguez told Radio Mediterránea about his surprise when one of his daughters – who was watching the images on the computer – noticed a spot on one of them asked him about it.
“I thought it might be debris or a bug on the camera lens. I took it apart and there was nothing,” he said.
The images were sent to the Museo Ovni in Victoria to be analyzed with better technology, and to find out if this could truly be an unidentified flying object.

Once again, StreetCap1 caught two cigar-shaped UFOs near the ISS on October 21, 2014.
Though the unknown objects are not really clear, this sighting is remarkable as not only there is no chance in light on the screen, thus it could not be a lens reflecting light at a certain angle, but even more important, NASA ended the live feed almost instantly (2-3 seconds) and changed it to another camera.
Actually, by ending the live ISS stream so quick, NASA proves that these objects are more than just reflecting lights and as we know the astronauts have to follow NASA’s UFO Protocol there is no doubt they have made clear images of these UFOs.
Filled with more than 3,700 pounds of hardware and critical science experiments, the Space X Dragon cargo craft left the International Space Station, headed for a deorbit and a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Pacific Ocean west of Baja California.
Dragon arrived at the station on Sept. 23 on the fourth resupply mission to the outpost for the U.S. commercial firm.
Dragon is the only cargo vehicle servicing the space station that can return cargo and scientific experiments back to Earth intact for researchers to retrieve for post-flight analysis.
During the release of the Space X Dragon craft an unidentified flying object, (UFO) was seen near the International Space Station on October 25 2014.

Duration: 30 seconds I saw a rectangular object with white lights underneath, while driving. I was in the car with my 10 year old daughter. We were heading out to go shopping for a Halloween costume. The sun was just beginning to set, when we came to a red light, in the residential section of Fairless Hill. As we sat at the red light, a rectangular object flew just above the tree tops, to the right side of our car. The craft did not seem to make any noise. It was long and dark gray in color. The underneath was completely covered by two, side-by-side rows of about 10 round, white lights.
The lights reminded me of spotlights. I’m not very good at guessing the length or distance of objects, but my best guess would be that it was about 80-100 feet in length, and about 30-40 feet in width. It was so close to us that we really couldn’t tell how tall it was. We mostly got a view of the underside. As it began to move away from us, it didn’t seem to appear to have much height to it at all. The craft moved at a moderately fast pace and disappeared behind the tree line across the street very quickly. My daughter and I both looked up and pointed to the object at the same time and it was gone that quickly. The traffic light turned green almost immediately, and we traveled in the direction that we saw it disappear behind the trees. By the time we reached a clearing in the tree line (probably about 100 feet away from the light we were previously at), the craft was so far away that it could only be seen along the distant horizon.
Neither of us could figure out how it could have traveled what looked like many miles, in less than a minute. Though it was almost out of sight at that point, we were still able to make out its shape and lights, even from that distance.
In June 1976 my sister and I were living in Seattle, WA in an apartment on Beacon Hill. Our apartment faced east (front door) and south (kitchen/living room) and I was doing dishes with a view of Mount Rainier (slightly southeast) with the bay to the right. As I stood there washing dishes, talking to my sister, I looked out and saw something flying toward our location. I yelled to my sister, “Come here and tell me what I’m seeing!” She stood next to me looking out the window and said, “I don’t know what that is!”
A large disc-shaped object silently approached, when it got near it began to hover over the neighbors house (a three story Victorian, the bottom story was the garage area) and began to signal using light panels underneath the elliptical edge of the saucer. Then a light shined down on the house, it was then I noticed two jets coming from the military base at full throttle, suddenly all the lights on the saucer were lit up (underneath) and a low level humming began (which was mixed with the roar of the jets by then), it began to move so fast the jets swung out and around (before the turn was executed the ship was over Mount Rainier), the object was shooting straight up into the air and the jets lost it.
At the same time this was going on the radio announcer said, “Please don’t call in about a flying saucer, we know it’s a plane that’s been flying around with advertisements.” Then the plane was flying just to the west of us near the bay at the same time my sister and I were watching these events unfold.
This is a similar shaped craft. There were light panels under the outer edge that lit up singularly or in combination. Each panel was approximately 10 feet square. The craft was approximately 40 feet in height, 120 feet in diameter. It was silent until it started to accelerate away from us, then it emitted a loud humming noise.

I am now 43 and I was 11 at the time this happened. I will never forget the event and wish to this day I could draw because I can remember it like it was yesturday.
My parents and I were sitting in our living room in Federal Way, Washington on Star Lake Road. We had a house that had two huge windows. When out of the blue a very large round object appeared right in front of our windows. It was about the size of 1/2 of football field. There were rectangular lights that flashed in a circular motion. There were to windshields that were the same size as the lights. It was grey in color and made no noise what so ever. My dad said” Must be some new boeing project” It just sat there for at least a minute. My mom said ya right, I have never seen anything that that. In a instant it shot straight up into the air and took off heading South towards Portland. We called my aunt and she was like, I see nothing. The strangest thing of all is the next day at breakfast my parents remembered seeing something but they both said it was a dream. Then said, how can we all have the same dream. I try now to talk to my parents about it, my mom is eager to tell it but my dad is dead silent and wont say a word. I wish I could see it again.

P.S. After we saw this event a car pulled up directly across the street (black sedan) and four individuals, three male and one female, went into the house that the craft hovered over. The next day they came to our building and knocked on our door, my sister (who was 17 years old at the time) didn’t answer the door. She came to me and whispered that strange looking people were at the door, should she answer it? I whispered let me look and I saw it was the same group from across the street the day before.
I motioned to my sister to back up into the kitchen and I followed her there and mouthed “be quiet”. The group was interrupted by our upstairs neighbor who asked, “What the *bleep* are you doing here?” They got into a heated discussion and then left. I felt someone thinking to me that I shouldn’t talk to anyone about this and for almost 40 years I haven’t.
NOTE: Mt. Rainier is an active volcano…in fact, Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. I have reported previously on UFO activity around active volcanoes. De Amerikaanse geneticus Donald Yates heeft onderzoek gedaan naar het DNA van de Cherokee, een groep indianen in Noord-Amerika. Onregelmatigheden in het DNA worden vaak toegeschreven aan de rassenvermenging tijdens de Europese kolonisatie.
Dr. Yates richtte zijn onderzoek op het DNA dat enkel wordt doorgegeven via de moeder. Hij combineerde het onderzoek met genealogische gegevens. Er is volgens hem sterk bewijs dat de voorouders van de Cherokee-indianen uit het Midden-Oosten komen.
De inheemse Amerikanen zijn ingedeeld in een klein aantal haplogroepen, groepen individuen die geclassificeerd worden aan de hand van het haploïde DNA. Haplogroep T valt daar niet onder, maar toch ontdekte Yates dat de meeste Cherokee-indianen al een hele lange tijd tot deze haplogroep behoren.
In zijn rapport schrijft hij: “T is de dominante haplogroep (23,1 procent), wat vergelijkbaar is met de Egyptenaren (23,4 procent) en Arabieren (24,4 procent). T is bepalend voor de herkomst van de Cherokee. We kunnen de recente rassenvermenging tijdens de Europese kolonisatie uitsluiten.”
Dr. Yates gebruikte Kathleen Rogalla uit Panama-Stad als voorbeeld. Ze stamt af van Deborah Cook(e), de vrouw van William Chisholm (in 1720 geboren in Amelia County, Virginia). De moeder van Cook heette Amy of Annie. “Het is onwaarschijnlijk dat Amy of Annie de dochter was van een Britse vrouw,” schreef Yates. De Chisholms en hun huwelijkspartners waren vanaf 1760 bekend bij de indianenleiders.
Rogalla liet DNA-onderzoek doen toen ze geïnteresseerd begon te raken in haar inheemse afkomst. Het bedrijf waar ze het onderzoek liet doen vertelde haar dat haar voorouders zonder twijfel uit Europa kwamen. Toen Yates Rogalla onderzocht, ontdekte hij dat haar DNA deel uitmaakt van haplogroep T.
Dr. Yates theoretiseert dat een aantal Egyptenaren in de Ptolemaïsche periode (derde eeuw voor Christus) de oversteek hebben gemaakt naar Noord-Amerika om zich daar te vestigen. Dat zou betekenen dat de Cherokee afstammen van de oude Eypgtenaren.

Het resultaat is niet alleen een reeks fantastische geluiden uit de ruimte, maar ook een hoop legendarische quotes uit de ruimtevaartgeschiedenis.
"A small step for (a) man", "We have a lift-off" of "The eagle has landed": de drie onsterfelijke citaten uit de conversaties tussen de bemanning van de Apollo 11-missie en de NASA-basis in Houston maken maar een klein deel uit van de volledige collectie die de NASA online zette. Ook geluiden opgevangen door satellieten, gaande van radiogolven tot onweer boven Jupiter zijn te beluisteren, net zoals het geluid van opstijgende draagraketten en space shuttles.
De geluidsfragmenten waren al eerder te downloaden op de website van de NASA, maar het is de eerste keer dat ze op SoundCloud komen.
"A small step for (a) man"
Zonder twijfel de beroemdste woorden uit de ruimte, die astronaut Neil Armstrong uitsprak nadat hij als eerste mens ooit een voet op de maan zette. Het citaat is ook het eerste dat de NASA online plaatste.
Merk op hoe de ruimtevaartorganisatie in de titel het lidwoord 'a' tussen haakjes plaatst en daarmee Armstrongs citaat grammaticaal verbetert. Want terwijl Armstrong wel degelijk de bedoeling had om de 'a' uit te spreken, bleek dat uit de opnames niet het geval te zijn, wat de zin een beetje nutteloos maakt: 'man' zonder lidwoord betekent namelijk hetzelfde als 'mankind' (mensheid). Eigenlijk zei Armstrong dus "een kleine stap voor de mensheid, een grote sprong voor de mensheid".
Pas jaren na de maanlanding gaf Armstrong toe dat hij de 'a' wellicht vergeten was, al hoopte hij dat "de geschiedenis mij de ruimte toekent om het lidwoord te vergeten en begrijpt dat het zeker de intentie was om het uit te spreken". Daarom verkoos de astronaut dat het lidwoord in gedrukte citaten voortaan tussen haakjes geplaatst zou worden.
"We have a lift-off"
Wanneer de Apollo 11-missie, die Armstrong en zijn collega's naar de man moet brengen, met succes vertrekt, klinkt dat vanop de grond zo, inclusief applaus in de controlekamer:
"The eagle has landed"
Opnieuw euforie bij de landing, waar de crew op aarde het bijna niet meer houdt van de spanning. Nadat vanuit Apollo 11 het gelukkige nieuws 'The eagle has landed' klinkt, antwoordt Houston met: "Je hebt hier een hoop jongens die bijna blauw worden. Maar we ademen opnieuw."
"Houston, we've had a problem"
Weetje voor wanneer u nog eens een quiz organiseert: wat zei astronaut Jack Swigert toen hij Houston contacteerde om te melden dat er een probleem was tijdens de Apollo 13-missie? "Houston, we have a problem"? Niet dus: "Houston, we've had a problem" is het enige juiste citaat:
"Have you ever been to Disneyland?"
Hoe vertel je vanuit de ruimte hoe je eerste keer in outer space was? Sally Ride, de eerste Amerikaanse vrouw in de ruimte vertrok op 18 juni 1983 aan boord van de Challenger. Om de spanning te omschrijven, vraagt ze aan Houston: "Ben je ooit naar Disneyland geweest?" Wanneer het antwoord "affirmatief" komt, repliceert Ride vol enthousiasme: "Dit was echt een E-ticket", waarmee ze verwijst naar het speciale ticket dat het pretpark in die tijd had voor haar beste attracties en rollercoasters.

En om af te sluiten: de playlist van de dag: de meest vreemde geluiden uit de ruimte, opgevangen door verschillende satellieten. Gaande van radiogolven omgezet in geluid over plasmageluiden tot bliksem op Jupiter. Al blijft onze favoriet toch wel 'Water on the Moon', het lied gemaakt door enkele NASA-medewerkers naar aanleiding van de succesvolle LCROSS-missie, die op zoek ging naar water op de maan.
Het commerciële ruimtevaartuig Dragon is teruggekeerd naar de aarde, na een bezoek van enkele weken aan het internationaal ruimtestation ISS. Dragon landde om 21.40 uur in de Stille Ocaan, ongeveer 480 kilometer ten westen van het Mexicaanse schiereiland Baja California. Dat deelt de NASA mee.
Dragon zal van daaruit naar een haven in Los Angeles gebracht worden. De NASA zegt dat het ruimteschip bijna 1.500 kilo vracht meebracht van het ruimtestation, zoals een reeks wetenschappelijke experimenten. Het cargotuig, dat ontwikkeld werd door het bedrijf SpaceX uit de Verenigde Staten, begon op 21 september in Cape Canaveral aan zijn vierde bevoorradingsmissie.

New amazing video footage of a triangle – shaped UFO sighting recorded above Zagreb, Croatia on 22nd October 2014.
Witness said: We present a spectacular video recorded in the Republic of Croatia, exactly in the city of Zagreb. The event took place on the evening of October 22, 2014. A resident witnessed an amazing UFO sighting, and was able to record the entire scene, in which three spheres of light arranged in a triangle, having been stationed in the sky for several minutes, each move away in different directions, disappearing into thin air.
Sinds kort zijn op de website van de Bibliotheek van het Vaticaan de eerste 500 manuscripten en 600 wiegendrukken van voor 1501 uit de rijke collectie van de bibliotheek raadpleegbaar, meldt Kerknet. Het Vaticaan wil tegen 2018 nog eens 3000 manuscripten digitaliseren.
Dat is het eerste resultaat van het project van het Vaticaan voor de digitale ontsluiting van 180.000 manuscripten, 1,6 miljoen boeken en 150.000 beelden en prenten uit de Vaticaanse bibliotheek, waarvoor vorig jaar de organisatie ‘Digita Vaticana Oculus’ werd opgericht.
De stichting wil op korte termijn in samenwerking met het Japanse bedrijf NTT DATA 80.000 manuscripten en 41 miljoen bladzijden digitaal ontsluiten. De stichting denkt dat er 15 jaar nodig is om de collectie te digitaliseren.
De Vaticaanse Bibliotheek werd in 1451 door paus Nicolaas V opgericht. Zij is één van de oudste en rijkste bibliotheken ter wereld. Naast oude Bijbelmanuscripten bevat zij onder meer enkele van de oudste Koranfragmenten ter wereld en een thorarol uit 1451-1457 van Maimonides. Daarnaast zijn er ook nog de oude geschriften van de Azteken of de originele illustraties van de Goddelijke Komedie van Dante door de kunstenaar Sandro Botticelli. Je kunt hier enkele voorbeelden bekijken.
De bibiliotheek bevat ook brieven van belangrijke historische figuren, tekeningen en notities van kunstenaars en wetenschappers zoals Michelangelo en Galileo. Ook zijn er verdragen uit alle tijdperken te vinden.
Iedere dag mogen 200 onderzoekers boeken en archieven raadplegen, waarvan de oudste teruggaan tot 1760. Door de digitalisering zijn de boeken en manuscripten voortaan in elke universiteitsbibliotheek raadpleegbaar. De originele werken worden bewaard in atoomkelders.

Geheime genootschappen. Volgens Jonathan Black waren de grootste genieën er lid van, en besturen ze stiekem de wereld. Bestaan ze echt, die geheime machten achter de schermen? Vormen deze genootschappen werkelijk een geheime coalitie van de grootste genieën?
In zijn boek De geheime geschiedenis van de wereld beschrijft Black de wereldgeschiedenis zoals die werd doorgegeven via allerlei occulte, esoterische of wijsgerige genootschappen. Het boek is inmiddels een internationale bestseller. Hij toont aan dat veel van de bestaande geschiedschrijving onwaar is.
Aan de hand van uniek archiefmateriaal worden alle geheime genootschappen op een journalistieke manier behandeld. Onder andere het tijdperk van de rozenkruisers, de occulte wortels van de wetenschap, de mystiek-seksuele revolutie en de Illuminati worden beschreven.
Met talloze gegevens uit de natuurwetenschap, religie, psychologie, historiografie en filosofie haalt Black de waarheid naar boven en construeert hij een fascinerende alternatieve wereldgeschiedenis. De invloed van geheime genootschappen is veel groter dan je tot nu toe dacht.
De geschiedenis van geheime genootschappen begint zo rond 3000 voor Christus. Black beschrijft de situatie in het Hof van Eden en over Egyptenaren die allerlei middelen tot zich namen om in trance te raken, waaronder blauwe lelie, opium, papaver en alruinwortel.
Black behandelt niet alleen Isaac Newton, de vrijmetselaars en alchemie, maar ook de occulte wortels van de Franse Revolutie, Napoleon, de antichrist en het occulte bolsjewisme.
In het oude Griekenland waren aan de openbare tempels zogeheten mysteriescholen verbonden. Deze scholen waren geheime instanties waar de politieke en culturele elite onderwijs kreeg in meditatietechnieken. Plato, Aeschylus, Alexander de Grote, keizer Augustus, Cicero en vele anderen werden er na jarenlange voorbereiding ingewijd in de geheime filosofie.
In deze scholen kreeg men les in ademhalingsoefeningen, het afsluiten van de vijf fysieke zintuigen, hallucinatie, sacrale dansen en technieken om seksuele energieën te kanaliseren. Ingewijden die hun kennis van de mysteriescholen aan buitenstaanders wilden onthullen, werden zonder pardon ter dood gebracht.
Twee jongens uit de Ionische havenstad Efeze wilden per se weten wat zich in de lokale mysterieschool afspeelde. Toen ze over de muur van het gebouw klommen werden ze al snel gesnapt. Een dag later hingen de lijken van de jongens in de buurt van de mysterieschool.
Black laat zien hoe esoterie, vrijmetselaarsloges en astrologie een belangrijke rol hebben gespeeld op hoofdmomenten in de geschiedenis. Toen George Washington als president van de Verenigde Staten de basis legde voor de bouw van het Capitool, speelde astrologie daarbij een grote rol.
“Toen Washington een horoscoop liet trekken voor de bouw van het Capitool, handelde hij geheel in lijn met een plechtige traditie van de vrijmetselarij die de geschiedenis van de mensheid volgde in overeenstemming met de bewegingen van sterren en planeten,” aldus Black.
Washington is zo gebouwd, dat het zonlicht elk jaar op 3 augustus door Pennsylvania Avenue schijnt en het piramidion op het dak van het hoofdpostkantoor doet oplichten.

FOUR STAR GENERAL ADMITS THAT ALIEN CRAFT ARE REAL

Earlier I took a close look at a mysterious document known as the Twining Memo, in which four-star General Nathan Twining, head of the United States Air Force Materiel Command, confirmed that saucer-shaped UFOs were, “real and not visionary or fictitious.” General Twining took the UFO enigma very seriously indeed. In his memo, he recommended that in future the subject should be assigned, “a priority, security classification and Code Name for a detailed study of this matter to include the preparation of complete sets of all available and pertinent data which will then be made available to the Army, Navy, Atomic Energy Commission, JRDS, the Air Force Scientific Advisory Group, NACA and the RAND and NEPA projects for comments and recommendations, with a preliminary report to be forwarded within 15 days of receipt of the data and a detailed report thereafter every 30 days as the investigation develops.” Twining spoke of “the lack of physical evidence in the shape of crash-recovered exhibits which would undeniably prove the existence of these objects.” However, as Twining had effectively been put in charge of UFO studies by the Government and had a very high security clearance, it is highly likely that even if he did know of such crashes he would have been unable to tell the recipient of his memo, General George Schulgen, about them. The level of the security classification dictated that those involved were only made privy to information on a ”need to know” basis. If Schulgen had no need to know, he wouldn’t be told. Intriguingly, Twining made it clear that if UFOs were of “domestic origin” he certainly wasn’t aware of it. It would have been superfluous in the extreme to order further study of UFOs if Twining knew that they were simply top-secret American aircraft, as the sceptics sometimes claim. There isn’t a shred of evidence that the US Air force or any other organisation, military or civilian, were testing experimental aircraft that could perform the mind-boggling aerial manoeuvres that the UFOs were capable of. Why did Twining write his memo just at that time – September 1947? In July of that same year, the National Security Act was passed, bringing into existence the CIA, the National Military Establishment, the National Security Council and, shortly afterward, the Department of Defense. The major elements of the act were activated in September of that year. Of course, part of the motivation for the passing of the Act had been World War II. However, some think that there may have been another, more secret agenda at work. July 1947 was also the time when a UFO was said to have crashed at Roswell in New Mexico – just weeks before the National Security Act was passed and it is here where General Nathan Twining re-enters the picture. On Monday, July 7, Twining suddenly made an unscheduled visit to Alamogordo Army Air Field, New Mexico. On July 8, the very day after Twining travelled to Alamogordo, the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) Public Information Officer, Walter Haut, authorised a press release which stated that members of Roswell Field’s 509th Operations Group had recovered a “flying disc”, which had crashed near Roswell. Roswell is only a little over 100 miles from Alamogordo, which is very unlikely to be coincidental. Twining had originally been scheduled to attend a meeting with executives of Boeing at that time, but hurriedly cancelled. On July 17, Twining wrote to a senior executive and apologised for not attending the meeting, “due to a very important, sudden matter that developed here.” You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to guess what that may have been. Then, as soon as the National Security Act came into force, Twining sent his memo to General Schulgen expressing his concern about UFOs. Twining knew more about UFOs than most people did back then – and more than most of us know now.
