Invasion Earth is Nat Geo’s latest stab at UFO programming. The network’s description of the series states:
Have humans really seen crafts and beings from other planets? Or is there a perfectly reasonable explanation for these sightings? Invasion Earth investigates the world’s most intriguing UFO sightings to answer the age old question – are we alone? With the help of scientists, aviation and military experts, all the evidence is thoroughly examined and tested.
This series is airing under a few different names in different parts of the world. Its title in the UK is UFO: Alien Invasion, its U.S. title is UFO Conspiracies, and it is in other locations, including Australia, where the series is being broadcast with its native titled Invasion Earth. The show is produced by London-based Pioneer Productions for National Geographic.
This series explores several UFO cases familiar to UFO researchers including the 1980 Cash-Landrum UFO encounter and the 1965 Kecksburg UFO incident. Nat Geo’s Australia website has a full episode list detailing what will be explored in each episode of the series.

Nick Pope, former head of the UK Ministry of Defence’s UFO desk, is a featured talking head in this series.
According to Blue Blurry Lines, UFO: Alien Invasion and Invasion Earth premiere on Friday, October 31, while UFO Conspiracies doesn’t premiere in the U.S. until Wednesday, December 14 on the Science channel.
According to Peruvian ufologist Anthony Choy, Peru is among the world's top five countries when it comes to the most UFO sightings recorded in the past decade.
To Rafael Mercado, a ufologist from Arequipa, who visited the location and was able to access videos, take photos and hold conversations with the area's inhabitants, the sighting would have gone unnoticed had it not been for some locals who claimed seeing strange objects flying over great Mount Ubinas, leading to the subsequent follow-up and capture of imagery.
What are these lights? Several experts explain the subject in the following reports.

Kleine UFO's waargenomen nabij Moederschip Friesland...

Wimal Weeranwansa (Menaka Aravinda)

The biological process which lead to intelligent life on earth was a fluke that is unlikely to have been repeated anywhere else in the universe, claims Professor Brian Cox.
The presenter and scientist blames a series of 'evolutionary bottlenecks' for the lack of extraterrestrial life on other planets, despite there being a mind-bogglingly vast number of them in the galaxy.
Humanity miraculously overcame them in a chance binding of two single cells merging somewhere in the mists of time, he said.
'There is only one advanced technological civilisation in this galaxy and there has only ever been one - and that's us. We are unique.
'It's a dizzying thought. There are billions of planets out there, surely there must have been a second genesis?'
But we must be careful because the story of life on this planet shows that the transition from single-celled life to complex life may not have been inevitable.'
He made the claims in an episode of BBC's Human Universe, adding that yet another freak occurrence - the meteor which wiped out the dinosaurs - allowed mammals and ultimately humanity to dominate the planet.
On the subject of the genesis of complex life, he added: 'We still struggle to understand how this happened. It's incredibly unusual.'We're confident this only happened once in the oceans of the primordial earth.Life here did squeeze through.'

Last month scientists claimed that our best chance of finding alien life is not looking for living animal organisms but rather plant life.
Two astrophysicists have said we should be looking at exoplanets for signatures of chlorophyll, which plants use to convert sunlight into energy.
And they say this could be done by a future telescope planned by Nasa to study habitable exoplanets.
If there are no aliens, humanity will never have to face the nightmarish xenomorphs of Alien (left), nor the benevolent E.T. from Speilberg's hit film
Sir Attenborough and Prof Brian Cox switch off analogue (archive)
Princeton University astrophysicists Dr Timothy Brandt and Dr David Spiegel made the suggestions in a paper called 'Prospects for detecting oxygen, water and chlorophyll on an exo-Earth.'
They say that it might be possible to detect signatures of water, oxygen and chlorophyll on an alien planet.
One hundred million worlds in our galaxy are able to host alien life, according to a 'conservative' prediction by Nasa.
And the space agency claims that we will be able to find that life within the next 20 years, with a high chance it will be outside our solar system.
During a public talk in July in Washington, the space agency outlined a roadmap to search for life in the universe using a number of current and future telescopes.
'Do we believe there is life beyond Earth?' said former astronaut and Nasa Administrator Charles Bolden during a talk in Washington.
'I would venture to say that most of my colleagues here today say it is improbable that in the limitless vastness of the universe we humans stand alone.'
The latter would be the most difficult of the three but, if found, would be a pretty clear indicator that a distant world has plant life.

Sixty years ago a football match ground to a halt when unidentified flying objects were spotted above a stadium in Florence. Did aliens come to earth? If not, what were they?
It was 27 October 1954, a typically crisp autumn day in Tuscany. The mighty Fiorentina club was playing against its local rival Pistoiese.
Ten-thousand fans were watching in the concrete bowl of the Stadio Artemi Franchi. But just after half-time the stadium fell eerily silent - then a roar went up from the crowd. The spectators were no longer watching the match, but were looking up at the sky, fingers pointing. The players stopped playing, the ball rolled to a stand-still.
One of the footballers on the pitch was Ardico Magnini - he was something of a legend at the club and had played for Italy at the 1954 World Cup.
"I remember everything from A to Z," he says. "It was something that looked like an egg that was moving slowly, slowly, slowly. Everyone was looking up and also there was some glitter coming down from the sky, silver glitter.
"We were astonished we had never seen anything like it before. We were absolutely shocked."
Play was suspended because spectators saw something in the sky, according to the referee's match report.
Among the crowd was Gigi Boni, a lifelong Fiorentina fan. "I remember clearly seeing this incredible sight," he says. His description of multiple objects differs slightly from Magnini's.
"They were moving very fast and then they just stopped. It all lasted a couple of minutes. I would like to describe them as being like Cuban cigars. They just reminded me of Cuban cigars, in the way they looked."
La Nazione's headline reads: Glass fibres fall on Tuscan cities after globes and flying saucers pass by. Lower headline: The sighting over Florence (with a photograph, now lost, of the UFO).
Boni has spent many years reliving that day in his mind. "I think they were extra-terrestrial. That's what I believe, and there's no other explanation I can give myself."
Another of the players, Romolo Tuci, still sprightly in his 70s, agrees. "In those years everybody was talking about aliens, everybody was talking UFOs and we had the experience, we saw them, we saw them directly, for real."
The incident at the stadium cannot simply be interpreted as mass hysteria - there were numerous UFO sightings in many towns across Tuscany that day and over the days that followed. According to some eyewitness accounts a ray of white light was seen in the sky coming from Prato, north of Florence.
Another man who relishes the chance to speak about that day is Roberto Pinotti, the president of Italy's National UFO Centre. He has written many books about UFOs and his home in the centre of Florence is stuffed full of alien memorabilia, posters of old Italian B-movies, framed newspaper articles and black-and-white photographs of blurry flying saucers.
"The players and the public were stunned seeing these objects above the stadium," Pinotti says.
"At the time the newspapers spoke of aliens from Mars. Of course now we know that is not so - but we may conclude that it was an intelligent phenomenon, a technological phenomenon and a phenomenon that cannot be linked withanything we know on Earth."
He's also intrigued by the material that fell from the sky - what Magnini describes as silver glitter.
"A wave of flying saucers over Italy," reported the Domenica del Corriere three years later. With thanks to the Fondazione Corriere della Sera for the use of material from their historic archives.
A sketch of UFOs over the stadium by Silvio Neri
"It is a fact that at the same time the UFOs were seen over Florence there was a strange, sticky substance falling from above. In English we call this 'angel hair'," says Pinotti.
"The only problem is after a short period of time it disintegrates." As a 10-year-old-boy he witnessed this phenomenon himself. "I remember, in broad daylight, seeing the roofs of the houses in Florence covered in this white substance for one hour and, like snow, it just evaporated.
"No-one knows what this strange substance has to do with UFOs."
Variously described by witnesses as similar to cotton wool or cobwebs, the substance was hard to collect because it disintegrated on contact - but some people were determined to find out what it was.
One of them was a journalist at the Florentine newspaper La Nazione, the late Giorgio Batini. In 2003 he told an Italian television programme, Voyager, how on that day he received hundreds of phone calls about the sightings. From the offices of La Nazione in the centre of town his own view of the sky was blocked by the Cathedral, so he went up to the top of the newspaper's building to see what everyone was talking about. The 81-year-old recalled seeing "shiny balls" moving fast towards the dome of the Cathedral.
Batini ventured out to investigate. He came across a wood outside the city that was covered in the white fluff. He gathered several samples by rolling them up on a matchstick, and took them to the Institute of Chemical Analysis at the University of Florence. When he got there he found that others had done the same.
The lab, led by respected scientist Prof Giovanni Canneri, subjected the material to spectrographic analysis and concluded that it contained the elements boron, silicon, calcium and magnesium, and that it was not radioactive. Unfortunately this did not provide any conclusive answers - and the material was destroyed in the process.
A sample of the mysterious "angel hair" was photographed for the newspapers
Could it have come from a UFO? "It's an absolutely silly idea. Science totally rejects this idea," says US Air Force pilot-turned-astronomer James McGaha. From the Grasslands Observatory in South Eastern Arizona he has spent more than 40,000 hours staring at the night sky. Not to mention the additional hours he's spent in the cockpit of US fighter jets.
"You know the whole UFO phenomenon is nothing but myth, magic and superstition, wrapped up in this idea that somehow aliens are coming here either to save us or destroy us," he says.
In McGaha's view, the whole spectacle, "angel hair" and all, was nothing more than migrating spiders.
"When I looked at this case originally I thought perhaps it was a fireball, a very bright meteor breaking up in the atmosphere. They can be cigar-shaped with pieces breaking off. But it became fairly apparent that this was actually caused by young spiders spinning webs, very, very thin webs.
"The spiders use these webs as sails and they link together and you get a big glob of this stuff in the sky and the spiders ride on this to move between locations. They just fly on the wind and these things have been recorded at 14,000 feet above the ground. So, when the sunlight glistens off this, you get all kinds of visual effects.
"As some of this stuff breaks off and falls to the ground, this all seems magical of course," says McGaha. "But I'm fairly confident that's what happened that day."
This theory is backed up by the fact that September and October are the months when spiders in the northern hemisphere migrate - and spectacular spider migrations still make headlines today. But it hasn't convinced everyone.
"Of course I know about the migrating spiders hypothesis - it's pure nonsense. It's an old story and also a stupid story," says Pinotti.
He disputes the spider theory because of the chemical analysis of the "angel hair" samples. Spider silk is a protein - an organic compound containing nitrogen, calcium, hydrogen and oxygen - not the elements reportedly found in the samples Batini and others brought to the university.
Players Ardico Magnini, Ronaldo Lomi and Romolo Tuci with their fan Gigi Boni (second left), at the ground
Sixty years on, the chances of determining the cause of the incident are slim. "I wouldn't trust any reports of an old and strange event like this unless I'd seen the data," says science writer Philip Ball. He agrees that the elements said to have been observed in the "angel hair" don't seem to tally with the spider theory.
"Magnesium and calcium are fairly common elements in living bodies, boron and silicon much less so - but if these were the main elements that the white fluff contained, it doesn't sound to me as though they'd come from spiders," he says.
So it all remains a mystery. No matter what the scientists say, those who were there are convinced that what they saw was unlike anything on earth.
Romolo Tuci just feels lucky to have been there. His eyes dance excitedly as he remembers that curious day. "I was spell-bound and I was also so, so happy."

China's lunar test spacecraft takes incredible picture of Earth and Moon together
China's lunar test spacecraft takes incredible picture of Earth and Moon together
by Nancy Atkinson, Universe Today
The Chinese lunar test mission Chang'e 5T1 has sent back some amazing and unique views of the Moon's far side, with the Earth joining in for a cameo in the image above. According to the crew at UnmannedSpaceflight.com the images were taken with the spacecraft's solar array monitoring camera.
Add this marvelous shot to previous views of the Earth and Moon together.
The mission launched on October 23 and is taking an eight-day roundtrip flight around the Moon and is now journeying back to Earth. The mission is a test run for Chang'e-5, China's fourth lunar probe that aims to gather samples from the Moon's surface, currently set for 2017. Chang'e 5T1 will return to Earth on October 31.
The test flight orbit had a perigee of 209 kilometers and reached an apogee of about 380,000 kilometers, swinging halfway around the Moon, but did not enter lunar orbit.
UFO ACTIVITY NEAR MOUNT RAINIER IN WASHINGTON JUNE 1976 ……. SEATTLE WASHINGTON
In June 1976 my sister and I were living in Seattle, WA in an apartment on Beacon Hill. Our apartment faced east (front door) and south (kitchen/living room) and I was doing dishes with a view of Mount Rainier (slightly southeast) with the bay to the right. As I stood there washing dishes, talking to my sister, I looked out and saw something flying toward our location. I yelled to my sister, “Come here and tell me what I’m seeing!” She stood next to me looking out the window and said, “I don’t know what that is!” A large disc-shaped object silently approached, when it got near it began to hover over the neighbors house (a three story Victorian, the bottom story was the garage area) and began to signal using light panels underneath the elliptical edge of the saucer. Then a light shined down on the house, it was then I noticed two jets coming from the military base at full throttle, suddenly all the lights on the saucer were lit up (underneath) and a low level humming began (which was mixed with the roar of the jets by then), it began to move so fast the jets swung out and around (before the turn was executed the ship was over Mount Rainier), the object was shooting straight up into the air and the jets lost it. At the same time this was going on the radio announcer said, “Please don’t call in about a flying saucer, we know it’s a plane that’s been flying around with advertisements.” Then the plane was flying just to the west of us near the bay at the same time my sister and I were watching these events unfold. NOTE: Thanks to Butch Witkowski, Director of the UFO Reseach Center of Pennsylvania. JUNE 1, 1976 …… FEDERAL WAY WASHINGTON STATE I am now 43 and I was 11 at the time this happened. I will never forget the event and wish to this day I could draw because I can remember it like it was yesterday. My parents and I were sitting in our living room in Federal Way, Washington on Star Lake Road. We had a house that had two huge windows. When out of the blue a very large round object appeared right in front of our windows. It was about the size of 1/2 of football field. There were rectangular lights that flashed in a circular motion. There were to windshields that were the same size as the lights. It was grey in color and made no noise what so ever. My dad said” Must be some new boeing project” It just sat there for at least a minute. My mom said ya right, I have never seen anything that that. In a instant it shot straight up into the air and took off heading South towards Portland. We called my aunt and she was like, I see nothing. The strangest thing of all is the next day at breakfast my parents remembered seeing something but they both said it was a dream. Then said, how can we all have the same dream. I try now to talk to my parents about it, my mom is eager to tell it but my dad is dead silent and wont say a word. I wish I could see it again. P.S. After we saw this event a car pulled up directly across the street (black sedan) and four individuals, three male and one female, went into the house that the craft hovered over. The next day they came to our building and knocked on our door, my sister (who was 17 years old at the time) didn’t answer the door. She came to me and whispered that strange looking people were at the door, should she answer it? I whispered let me look and I saw it was the same group from across the street the day before. I motioned to my sister to back up into the kitchen and I followed her there and mouthed “be quiet”. The group was interrupted by our upstairs neighbor who asked, “What the *bleep* are you doing here?” They got into a heated discussion and then left. I felt someone thinking to me that I shouldn’t talk to anyone about this and for almost 40 years I haven’t. Thanks to http://www.nuforc.org/webreports/067/S67707.html NOTE:Mt. Rainier is an active volcano…in fact, Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. I have reported previously on UFO activity around active volcanoes. Even though this report is from 1976, there have been continued sightings of UFOs and other odd phenomena around the mountain for over a century.
A Virginia witness at Richmond reported watching and photographing a “small, glowing, rod-shaped UFO hovering silently in a neighbor’s tree,” according to testimony in Case 61042 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was outside walking when the object was first noticed about 11:33 p.m. on August 24, 2014.
“I was prompted to notice a small, glowing, weird rod-shaped object hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground in the flimsy, leafy, outer branches of a large tree behind a house in my tranquil, heavily-wooded suburban neighborhood of Stratford Hills in Richmond, Virginia,” the witness stated.
The area is part of the witnesses’ regular walking route.
Witness image. (Credit: MUFON)
“I’m 54 years old and I’ve been walking this route nearly every day for 10 years and what I beheld at 11:33 p.m. on a very quiet Sunday night was abnormal and totally out-of-place! Most of my neighbors probably were in bed.”
Something odd caught the witnesses’ attention.
“I was fortunate to view the mysterious glowing object that seemed to be hiding up in the tree and I partially attribute my good fortune to the fact that it was a new moon – the darkest night of the month!”
The witness described the object.
“The silent UFO first was rod-shaped with a glowing blue light on the left end and a pinkish-violet light on the right end. It was hovering horizontally in a place where a human could not be. It was not a new-fangled bug zapper and there are no cable-TV or electric lines running near the tree and definitely not at that height. No logic for the uncanny faintly-glowing lights in the tree.”
The witness used an iPhone 4S with no zoom to shoot video of the object and then switched to shooting still images in order to zoom in. Thirty images were shot over a 10-minute period.
“During this time the small, anomalous, cylindrical UFO/entity morphed into an orb which sometimes appeared cobalt-blue and other times violet with a freaky purplish core. Then it morphed back into a rod that was more white-colored and appeared to be segmented, reminiscent of a bacterial rod under a microscope.”
Upon reviewing the images, the witness cannot identify the object and was later intrigued that the object appeared to emit a sound.
The witness uploaded five still images with the report, which was filed on October 29, 2014: Image 1, Image 2, Image 3, Image 4 and Image 5.
“This flying object ain’t one of ours – NOT a drone, stealth bomber, planet Venus, or swamp gas. I did not hear any sounds coming from the object that night but later when I downloaded the video I was surprised to discover that my iPhone had picked up some intriguing clicking noises and when I showed the video to my neighbor S– she said, ‘It sounds like Morse code.’”
The witness decided not to share what he saw with the neighbor, but did notice that after that night they began leaving a porch light on.
“I did, however, tell one of their male neighbors and B—– agreed with me that maybe his neighbors who live in the house in question saw the object too and it spooked them?”
The witness is still out walking in the same area at night and has not noticed the object again – but did discover other nearby sightings were reported.
“My sighting in Richmond was at 11:33 p.m. on August 24, 2014, and just four hours later at 3:30 a.m. on August 25, 2014, a motorist on I-295 N near the Hopewell exit, which is only 22 miles south of Richmond, was followed up the road by a bright UFO orb that was moving a lot faster than manmade highway traffic. Then the orb targeted another car in the southbound lanes and when the sphere made contact with the other vehicle both the orb and car vanished into thin air! Then the driver of the first car saw the orb reappear, and when it started following their car up the highway again they became ‘terrified,’ put the pedal to the metal, and made a hasty retreat off the next exit in sight. I learned of this at the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). 2.”
“Then a few hours later around 9 a.m. on August 25, 2014 a seasoned colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve was killed when his F-15 fighter jet crashed under “mysterious circumstances” in the Blue Ridge Mountains west of Richmond near Deerfield, VA. Coincidentally enough, this was in an area where lots of residents have reported UFOs in the sky and orbs near the ground. They say it took two days to recover the colonel’s body and the official Air Force story was that he was from Massachusetts on a “routine training mission.””
The witness also discovered that a Canadian couple had a similar encounter to his just four days earlier and they posted a YouTube video.
“I’m not going to speculate or draw conclusions, but it seems like an awful lot of weirdness for such a small region in ten hours! Last but not least, a couple of weeks after my ‘close encounter’ in Richmond, Virginia, USA, I was prompted to discover a seemingly-credible YouTube video of a small, blue-pinkish-violet, rod-shaped UFO that a man and woman in Ontario Canada videoed while sitting around a campground fire pit and the anomalous silent hovering object looks uncannily similar to the UFO that I photographed in Richmond, VA, when it was in ‘rod mode.’ The Ontario sighting was on August 20, 2014, only four days before my sighting in Virginia, and the Canadian couple was prompted to upload their video to YouTube on August 24 which synchronistically was the same day as my sighting!”
Virginia MUFON is investigating. Please keep in mind that most UFO sightings can be explained as something natural or man-made. Virginia has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. Virginia had 5 UFO reports that occurred during September 2014 – calculated at .61 sightings per million population.
The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 – 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 – 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 – 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.
The above quotes were edited for clarity. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
Yesterday I posted information in reference to the Hinsdale House haunting. Over the past few days, and for unknown reasons, my attention has been directed to this location. Honestly, I did not have much knowledge of the circumstances, other than what I was told by Rev. Tim Shaw...who has investigated the property on several occasions. But during this past weekend, I received constant references to the events surrounding the hauntings. There is no doubt, in my mind, that I'm acquiring celestial & ethereal directives.
So...what's this mean? Well, I suppose I'm going to make an effort to examine the activity...through research, intuitive investigation and astral perception. Stay tuned...Lon
The Houston Zoo has a rich and colorful past, and most native Houstonians have their own anecdote of growing up visiting the elephants, chimps, and lions.
Most Houstonians though probably aren't aware that the Houston Zoo could still be haunted by its former first zookeeper and lion tamer who was shot and killed on premises under questionable circumstances. This week as Halloween festivities hit a fever pitch, we look back at one of the city's most popular hauntings.
Hans Nagel was a German who was employed by the city of Houston in 1922 to work at the zoo and act as the face of the park, wowing visitors young and old with his ability to tame wild beasts on site. These days his animal training style, which was more circus than respectful, can be seen as off-putting to animal lovers.
"He was of Dutch ancestry and born in Germany although he allegedly reported to immigration authorities in 1932 that his birthplace was Tobin, Texas. He trained at the Hagenbeck Animal Company in Germany," according to the Houston Public Library's archives.
He was a media sensation, the Houston Zoo's official blog notes, and was popular fodder for newsreels. His weekly lion taming shows were recommended entertainment. Nagel also saddled and rode and a zebra, winning a bet amongst friends.
His exploits earned him permanent citizenship even while his entry into the United States was disputed.
Nagel carried a pistol at his side at all times and was known to have to use it to scare off intruders from the zoo.
According to the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, by 1925 the zoo would house some 400 animals, and Nagel would be named its director soon after.
"Nagel was awarded a gold medal by the city of Houston for his heroics in saving a visitor from being mauled by the zoo's Bengal Tiger," according to the archive. It's still not clear if it was a zoo visitor or an employee that was saved from the tiger's jaws by a shot from Nagel's trusty pistol.
Given his stature in the community and role at park, he was given a commission as a "special police officer" by the Houston Police Department, according to the zoo.
It was taken from him in 1929 after a dispute with officials and what some called several abuses of power.
As the Houston Zoo’s former press agent Brian Hill wrote in October 2012, the story of how Nagel met his end is shady at best, but par the course for Houston over 70 years ago.
"Whether the revocation of the commission was the source of his conflict with the park patrol officers, the dispute festered for years and finally boiled over on a quiet Monday afternoon in November 1941 when Nagel confronted a park police officer who had spotted him behind a hedge in the park observing three teenagers in a parked car.
According to witness statements, the officer asked the teens if they knew they were being watched. As Nagel emerged from the bushes, the officer directed Nagel to his patrol car for a trip downtown to discuss "whose business it was policing the park."
When he attempted to handcuff the zoo manager, Nagel resisted and reached for his holstered side arm, a 9mm Luger. But the officer drew first and Nagel was felled by six shots. A grand jury later acquitted the officer, citing self-defense.
At the time it was called a "jurisdictional dispute," though the concept of a grown man peeking in on teens possibly necking in the park is creepy enough.
"These days we are much more conscious of the animals' well-being, and Nagel's style is obviously not how things are at the zoo now," says zoo spokesperson Jackie Wallace. You also won't find zoo staff carrying a 9mm Luger at their side either.
If you are one to believe in ghosts, it would make sense that his restless spirit was doomed to roam his earthly stomping grounds. Some say that at night the ghost of Nagel haunts the Houston Zoo's commissary where employees have reported eerie happenings and strange shadows.
Houstonians that visit the zoo's upcoming Zoo Lights holiday exhibit should probably keep an eye out for the zoo's ghostly keeper too. That creaky door could be Hans saying hello. - Chron
They said they’ve seen blood running down the walls and heard pounding on the walls and mysterious footsteps in the hallways. Family members have awakened with mysterious scratches on their legs or said they’ve been tripped or pushed by the demon.
The book has become popular with people of faith — who see it as a testament to Mr. Cranmer’s devotion to Christianity — and those who are intrigued by the paranormal, boosted by a 2011 Discovery Channel documentary detailing the exorcism.
The publisher Berkley Books, part of the multinational Penguin Group, says the book is a “true and accurate report of the events.” Mr. Cranmer said it has sold out of its first printing of 10,000 copies, and he has done dozens of television and radio interviews across the country, and his book signings at local libraries and bookstores have drawn droves of people.
But is it true? Members of two families who owned the house prior to the Cranmers, and a third family whose ancestor Mr. Cranmer says fueled the evil in the home, say the events involving their families are not true or accurate.
“I can imagine they would be” upset by the negative depiction of their relatives in the book, Mr. Cranmer, 58, said in an interview. “But the last thing I want is to get into a he-said-she-said with people who weren’t there when I heard what I wrote.”
The families who lived in the house at 3406 Brownsville Road before him point out that much of what Mr. Cranmer says he knows about their experiences there came from conversations he had with their parents, who are now all deceased.
Members of the families, who lived in the home for a combined 47 years before Mr. Cranmer bought it in 1988, have a common objection to the book: The author asserts that they had paranormal experiences similar to what he and his family experienced there.
“Other than squirrels in the walls, I never experienced anything there,” said Karen Dwyer, 59, who lived in the house for seven years in the 1950s and 1960s, after her mother, Barbara Paisley, got divorced and moved in with her parents. Ms. Paisley’s parents, Walter and Margaret Wagner, owned the home from 1941 to 1979. “My mother never said anything about the house being haunted. My grandmother never said anything about the house being haunted. And my grandfather never said anything about the house being haunted.”
“If he wants to go and write it from 1988 and go forward, do it; I don’t care,” said Ms. Dwyer, who still lives in Brentwood. “But if you want to lie about other people and things that happened before that, well no, that’s not right.”
Her brother, Ken Wilock, 58, and their uncle, Walter Wagner Jr., 79, both said they never had any experiences either.
Mr. Cranmer writes at one point that Ms. Dwyer and Mr. Wilock’s mother, Mrs. Paisley — whom he never names directly — told him before she died in 2009 that the Wagners had a family dog that seemed “to sense the presence of a ‘spirit’ and would go from room to room apparently looking for it.”
“That’s interesting,” said Mr. Wagner, who was 6 when his parents bought the home in 1941, and visited regularly as an adult, “because we never had a dog, and my parents didn’t like to have pets.”
As for the family who bought the home from the Wagners in 1979, “We have no evidence of anything like [Mr. Cranmer describes in his book] ever happening in the house,” said Michael Joyce, 40, who lives in Baldwin now and lived in the Brentwood home from age 5 to 14 until his parents sold the home to the Cranmers. Both his parents died in the past 13 months.
Mr. Cranmer, who still lives in the home, said he knew the families would not be happy with the book: “I was waiting for this [reaction from the families] to happen. But I thought after the Joyces died, it might not.”
Mr. Cranmer asserts that the house has had this demonic infestation since it was built in 1910. He writes that the Wagners — who bought the home from the original owners, the Malicks — and the Joyces knew about the evil there. Despite that, Mr. Cranmer maintains that the Wagners sold the home to the Joyces without telling them about what they experienced, and the Joyces — whom Mr. Cranmer renames the “McHenrys” in the book — then sold it to the Cranmers without telling them.
The result, Mr. Cranmer writes, is that he, his wife, Lesa, and their three sons and one daughter, unwittingly moved into a home filled with an evil presence that physically and emotionally attacked them, nearly destroying the family.
He writes that the land itself was cursed after some settlers were murdered there by Native Americans in the 1700s, and that evil grew when one of the workmen building the house in 1909 and 1910 put a curse on the home.
That evil was then inflamed, he writes, in the 1920s and 1930s when a local doctor, James C. Mahan Sr. — whom Mr. Cranmer names only as “Dr. M” — began renting out space in the home from the Malicks to perform illegal abortions that killed “a lot” of children, and at least one of the mothers.
As a child, Mr. Cranmer, who grew up in Brentwood, always had an interest in the stately house. He was told in 2012 by a Catholic “intuitive,” Connie Valenti of Aspinwall, that the reason he was long “drawn” to the home was so that he would be the one to fight the evil.
In 2005 and 2006, when Mr. Cranmer says the demonic infestation reached its peak, Ms. Valenti worked with the Rev. Ronald Lengwin, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, in trying to find the source of evil.
Father Lengwin had been assigned to work with Mr. Cranmer then, he says, after a friend — former Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy — asked then-Pittsburgh Bishop Donald Wuerl to help.
In the book’s epilogue, Mr. Cranmer says Ms. Valenti told him he was chosen to fight the evil because she believed from her visions that he was a reincarnated child who died in the home after an illegal abortion, a procedure that also ended in the death of his mother.
“I’m still puzzled by it, can’t say that I fully believe it,” he writes, “but it is intriguing.”
Most of the allegations against Dr. Mahan Sr. are based on Ms. Valenti’s visions, which were passed on to Mr. Cranmer by Father Lengwin. He describes those visions as well as a series of rumors and old stories Mr. Cranmer says he was told by Brentwood residents over the years that Dr. Mahan Sr. was a limping, profane drunk who was also not a very good doctor, and his wife was often drunk, too.
Neither Ms. Valenti, nor Father Lengwin, nor Mr. Cranmer said they had any documentation to these claims against Dr. Mahan Sr., or the claim of the worker putting a curse on the house.
“I don’t need to verify it in order to tell the story,” Father Lengwin said in an interview.
Ms. Valenti said in an interview that what is in the book “is all true” and “I can only tell you what I saw” in her visions.
Father Lengwin said he had no problem with those stories being printed in the book because Dr. Mahan Sr. is never directly named and “we didn’t accuse anyone of anything.”
Though he concedes “Dr. M” is Dr. Mahan Sr., when initially asked about him, Mr. Cranmer said: “Well, I didn’t identify him in the book, so I’m not going to discuss him.”
Two of Dr. Mahan Sr.’s grandchildren were upset by the description of their grandparents.
“Wow. Wow,” said Anita Mucha, 60, when told by a reporter what the book says, since she hadn’t read it. “I’ve never heard anything about” such allegations.
Ms. Mucha, who lived in Brentwood for much of her life before moving to Upper St. Clair, is the daughter of the late James C. Mahan Jr., one of Dr. Mahan Sr.’s two sons. She was 4 when Dr. Mahan Sr. died in 1958, and has few memories of her grandfather.
Her brother Dean Mahan, 58, said he knew enough of his family’s history to know that part of the allegation against his grandfather — that he performed illegal abortions in the 1920s and 1930s in the home — did not fit the timeline.
“My grandfather wasn’t even there on Brownsville Road [in Brentwood] then,” he said in an interview.
Dr. Mahan Sr. did not move into a home down the street from Mr. Cranmer’s home until sometime in the 1940s after he filed for divorce with his wife.
The local press covered a weeklong hearing in the divorce case in 1942 because of some scandalous allegations the doctor lodged against his wife and the prominence of the family. The doctor later retracted the allegations and they never divorced.
Dean Mahan said the general description in the book of when and where Dr. Mahan Sr. practiced “is definitely correct.”
“But part of that, about the character he’s describing, he’s writing his character to enhance his book or to entice his audience,” he said. “It’s just not true.” - Post-Gazette
The truth about ghosts, ‘Annabelle’ and Ouija boards
“People just instinctually feel that there are other beings around them during this time.” Psychic Cari Roy says this is the time of year when the veil between the living and dead is the thinnest. “If you are usually having a busy signal throughout the rest of the year, this is the time when your call is going to go through.”
If you think you’ve encountered a spirit or form of paranormal activity, Roy says the best tools aren’t ghost-hunting gadgets, they’re your own instincts and rationality.
“If there’s a knock on the door, hey, it might just be the postman, it’s not necessarily going to be some ghoul trying to work their way into your life. So you eliminate those things that could possibly be the explanations and if there are no other explanations, then chances are there is something paranormal,” says Roy.
But separating reality from fantasy can be tricky. Is there any truth behind the Hollywood horror stories?
“Annabelle, it’s a doll, it’s innocent… By infusing that with something nefarious, something evil, it makes us all scared because if a doll isn’t sacred and just the sign of childhood innocence then it feels like no place is safe. I’ve never experienced that, although, in New Orleans we have our tradition with voodoo dolls and in that respect sometimes dolls can be used for bad purposes.”
“ Ouija boards, spirit boards of themselves are just a piece of particle board. That by itself, it’s an inanimate object it’s not evil, but what happens I think is that people unprepared go in and mess around and you don’t want to open doors that you don’t know how to close. The departed, really ghosts, hauntings all of those things, those are human beings that just don’t have bodies anymore. There are going to be a certain amount of people in the spirit population that are up to no good the way the same way there are a sector of people in the living world up to no good,” says Roy.
Given New Orleans history, if it’s spirits that you seek, you’re in the right place.
“New Orleans is without question, America’s most haunted city. There’s drinking, there’s drama and those are the ingredients to a haunting.” - WGNO
They have appeared again, in pair and at their usual period in Brazil –between the last few days of October and first few days of November. The location the two first crop circles of 2014 season were found this Sunday morning, October 26, around 7:30 AM, is a slope in Mr. Angelo Alessio’s property. His farm has already been target for crop circles in previous years. This time, it was one of the few which had not had its wheat reaped, like most other properties in the vicinity.
One of the two glyphs was visible from the dirt road SCT-451. It was an immense harmonic figure, with approximately 500 to 650 feet (150 – 200 meters), as estimated by the local police department from Santa Catarina. It had internal and external circles in geometric formations. Unfortunately, very few were able to actually see the crop circle or even photograph it since it was destroyed that same morning by order of the farm owner, which demanded his foreman to run the crop tractor over it.
ONLY VISIBLE FROM ABOVE
The second circle was no farther than 650 feet due east of the first and about 1.2 miles from the road that connects Bom Jesus to Ipuaçu, and about 2 miles from the city. Regardless of the proximity, however, it was no possible to see the crop circle neither from the road nor from closer – via rural roads that go through the property, about 1.000 feet from the circle. In fact, even being inside the circle and walking within its elements and “hallways” did not yield a complete view of its shape, since it was very large. It became necessary to use the Brazilian UFO Magazine’s drone, a
Phantom 2 Vision Plus model with stabilizing 14 megapixel camera, that also records in high definition (full HD).
The frustration from arriving in Ipuaçu, some short few hours after the discovery of the crop circle, and after traveling close to 270 miles in only 5 hours, only to find one of them destroyed, gave place to amazement and surprise as soon as the drone was activated and began photographing in various altitudes. From above, about 1.600 feet, was possible to contemplate the extensive second crop circle still intact. Its shape even appalled the two police officers assigned by their commander to clarify the facts. Both drill sergeants, Leandro de Oliveira and Evandro de Oliveira, have 20 and 18 years of service.
COMPLEX AND ELEGANT PATTERN
From the photos and high definition video recordings made by the Brazilian UFO Magazine it was possible to observe the second crop circle still intact (photo). It is possible to describe them as joining two sets of elements. From one side, a ring of about 260 feet in diameter of folded plants in clockwise direction with a central circle of about 40 feet, also of folded plants in clockwise direction. From the other side, a set of two circles and two semi-circles of different thickness, some thin, others thicker, totaling about 200 feet in diameter. The intersection of the two sets created a
semi-circle in the interior of the second set.
After completely recording all data from the intact crop circle, which had my focus since the other was already lost, I also measured its electromagnetic condition, finding it normal and identical to the external crop circle field. Subsequently visited the first crop circle and, even though destroyed, was evaluated, photographed from the ground and above, and video recorded from various angles with the drone. It was only possible to ascertained, from above, the external ring, of approximate size estimated between 500 to 650 feet in diameter. The internal elements irreversibly destroyed.
NEW DESTRUCTION
While filming the deteriorated crop circle with the drone, the group of spectators gathered at the site, including the Police Officers, heard the crop machine operating again. Sadly, at 5.00 PM, Mr. Angelo Aléssio decided and ordered his foreman to terminate the crop circle that was still intact. Nothing remained. To my luck, and counting the time as a significant factorof extreme importance, I was able to arrive in time to record the images of the circle. At that point, and regardless of the complaints from the citizens of Ipuaçu, both crop circles were destroyed. In cases of crop circle researches, examining the facts ‘in locu’ as quickly as possible ensures the quality of the work.
The farm owner’s decision to reap the internal and external elements of the circles is due to his fear that the curious individuals that come to visit the location could cause even more damage to his crops. Mr. Aléssio did not want to make any statements, but according to his foreman, it was clear that he does not tolerate any destruction of his crops, not by the crop circles, but by curious spectators. Unfortunately, other local farmers have acted the same way. Several times, I have attempted to speak with the city mayor, Denilso Casal, to request the circles to be isolated. None were addressed.
FIELD INVESTIGATION
For the seventh consecutive year, always around the same time, always at the same geo-location, the crop circles have manifested. This time more gallant than in previous years, though rivaling the beauty of 2013’s season, but not in size. To this day, no explanation has been found for such designs to appear so suddenly at such location and always around the same time of year. What is known for certain, without a doubt, that the images were constructed by some sort of non-human intelligent life. What they mean is also to be discovered. The answer will only come after diligent research, which is exactly what the UFO Magazine has been doing for seven years, and counting.

(N.Morgan) When I see these videos with the military involved, the first thought is that we are witnessing a training exercise of some sort. These crafts we see could very well be our own military toys, posed to be used against us in some creepy way. The images are amazing, if not a bit fuzzy, as usual.
There are no traces, dogs did not bark, there was no noise – but marks have appeared in a Cordoba field that have left local residents disconcerted. Are we witnessing a paranormal phenomenon?
There is no explanation. The fact is that in the middle of a field located in Villa María, a locality in Cordoba province, large marks appeared which left local growers astonished.
According to comments by local residents, no strange noises were heard, no dogs barked, no alarms were tripped, but the strange marks were suddenly found in the fields.
In fact, they stated: “We have meter-tall wheat, green, ready to be harvested in December. It was very healthy, but then this happened on Saturday morning.”
According to this local (Susana Montero), “There are no traces that something got there by land,” to which she added: “We can't find an explanation for it.”
Persons living in the area called several agronomers, but remarked that no one was able to find an answer to this strange event.

A Mysterious UFO was discovered in Nasa footage that was made public in January, 2014.
We were not sure what this object was. We can see the object moving at a slow pace and the Nasa video cuts off as they switch to another camera angle for a few seconds.
When they cut back, we never see the UFO again.
It seems UFOs are very interested in NASA’s supply missions to the International Space Station. On October 25, 2014 during the release of the Space X Dragon craft a similar object was seen near the International Space Station. Is it just coincidence that unknown objects appear during supply missions or is there more going on.
Surprisingly, the latest supply Antares rocked exploded moments after launch Tuesday evening.
The Cygnus cargo ship Tuesday had held 5,000 pounds of experiments and equipment. By coincidence, the Russian Space Agency was proceeding with its own supply run on Wednesday, planned well before the U.S. mishap.

“The object was gray in color, triangle-shaped and had three lights closest to each tip. The lights were white. It appeared to be larger than a golf ball but smaller than a basketball.”
The witness said that the object then flew away and headed toward the Grafton, WV, area.
“The radio in the car was on so were not able to hear any sounds.”
