Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Bij de slag bij Bergen van 23 augustus 1914, één van de eerste veldslagen in de Eerste Wereldoorlog, zouden de Engelse soldaten zijn bijgestaan door een engel. In een nieuw boek valt te lezen dat de ‘engel’ mogelijk een buitenaardse bezoeker is geweest die probeerde de ‘toekomst te veranderen’. Dat meldt de Britse krant Metro.
Het verhaal over de ‘engel van Mons’ verscheen op 29 september 1914 in de Londense krant Evening News. Onder de titel ‘The bowmen’ stond te lezen hoe een achterhoede van de Engelse soldaten weerstand moest bieden aan een massale Duitse aanval. Op zeker moment riep één van hen in het Latijn: ‘Moge Sint-Joris de Engelsen bijstaan’.
Daarop verscheen een lange rij gedaanten in een schijnsel. Ze leken op boogschutters en schoten een wolk pijlen af in de richting van de Duitse linies. Er sneuvelden 1600 soldaten en de aanval werd uiteindelijk afgeslagen, aldus de krant.
‘The bowmen’ was fictie, hoewel de krant dat niet uitdrukkelijk vermeldde. Toch werden beweringen over reddende engelen in Engeland zeer serieus genomen. Het geloof erin werd een vorm van patriottisme zodat twijfelen moeilijk werd. Steeds meer getuigenissen vonden hun weg naar de pers.
In het nieuwe boek UFOs of the First World War staat dat veel UFO-fanaten van mening zijn dat de ‘engel’ een buitenaardse bezoeker was, die een vorm zou hebben aangenomen die de uitgeputte Britse soldaten konden herkennen.
De Britse UFO-expert Kevin Goodman zei: “Het UFO-raadsel was in de Eerste Wereldoorlog onbekend en de troepen dachten daarom dat ze een teken van God hadden gezien. Het fenomeen heeft door de jaren heen vele vormen aangenomen. In tijden van angst en stress vinden mensen troost in iets waar ze zichzelf in kunnen herkennen.”
Nigel Watson, de auteur van het boek, zei: “Zelfs vandaag de dag is de legende nog met controverse omgeven. Theorieën over de legende variëren van een mythe gebaseerd op het krantenartikel tot hallucinaties als gevolg van stress en uitputting, bezoek van engelen, geesten, moerasgas, luchtschepen en buitenaardse UFO’s die een vorm aannemen die overeenkomt met de verwachtingen van de getuigen.”

On Feb. 9, 1855, in the county of Devon, England, residents were mystified when they awoke to find strange tracks in the snow—tracks unlike any animal tracks they’d seen before. As groups of people across multiple villages spanning some 40 to 100 miles followed the tracks, curiosity turned to a mounting sense of horror and dread.
Some 4–5 inches long and in the shape of cloven hooves, they went up walls, across rooftops, from one side of objects inexplicably through to the other side. They seemed to sink so low in the snow, it’s almost as though they were hot and seared their way through. At spots, the tracks seemed to disappear, only to reappear some ways off, as though the being that made them had flown for a short stretch. The single-file prints suggested a biped.

A video taken by two Cessnock-area locals featuring a 2.5-metre great white shark has gone viral across the internet and social media.
Nulkaba’s Warren Sternbeck and his brother-in-law Rodney Collins were fishing off Pulbah Island in Lake Macquarie on December 3 when the shark jumped out of the water.
“We followed it for a bit and saw it breach again,” he said.
“I said to Rodney to keep the video going and we might capture it leaping out of the water.’’
After sending the footage to the Newcastle Herald, the video has since become one of the publication’s most- watched videos in history with over 39,000 views.
“It’s gone viral,” Warren said.
“I spoke to a friend in Japan and even he’s seen it.”
The video has also appeared on several national websites including the Sydney Morning Herald, as well as regional publications such as Murray Valley Standard and Wagin Argus.

NASA's exploratory rover has discovered mysterious 'belches' of methane gas on the surface of Mars.
Methane is a particularly important find because on Earth more than 90% of all methane gas is produced by living organisms.
Its confirmed discovery on Mars has been hailed as "very exciting" by scientists and suggests that there must be some unknown active process on the planet responsible for producing it.
The readings were picked up over a two-month period by the rover's Tunable Laser Spectrometer (TAS) instrument.
"I'm going to go out on a limb here and say flat-out, I consider this to be the first truly credible detection of methane in the atmosphere," said Bruce Jakosky of the University of Colorado.
"A lot of questions have been raised about Earth-based telescopic measurements. This is incontrovertible. That makes it a very profound measurement."
The way in which the methane seemed to spike and then dissipate suggests that its source must have been small and close to the rover as oppose to being large and further away.
There is in fact a chance, albeit a small one, that Curiosity may have picked up the first direct evidence of extraterrestrial organisms living on the surface of Mars.
Villagers in a remote Kazakhstan village are still inexplicably falling asleep for days at a time.
The peculiar malady, which has afflicted as many as 100 people over the last two years, has now become so notorious that the people of Kalachi have taken to calling the place "Sleepy Hollow".
The ailment sees people suddenly falling asleep out of the blue and sometimes remaining that way for several days.
In one of the most recent cases eight children fell asleep within the space of an hour on the first day of school in September.
In another a total of 20 people fell unconscious at around the same time and couldn't be roused for several days. One ambulance driver even reported encountering as many as 60 people who were suffering from the condition during his visit to the village to investigate the phenomenon.
Whole groups of doctors, virologists, radiologists and toxicologists have all been to the village at various times but to date nobody has been able to find a conclusive explanation.

Most people have heard the story of El Dorado, a city full of gold lost somewhere in the rainforests of South America. In fact, El Dorado is actually a legend about a Muisca Chieftain (the Golden One) who would cover himself with gold dust before certain religious ceremonies.
The real City of Gold is Paititi. In brief, the Spanish had been at war with the Incas of Peru for nearly forty years and the Incas had retreated to Vilcabamba Valley where they held off the invaders until 1572. When the Spanish conquered the Incas they found the city largely deserted. It appeared as if the Incas had fled to a new location in the rainforests of southern Brazil taking their vast treasure of gold with them.
The new city was never found nor was the gold and eventually the story was relegated to the status of a myth. However, in 2009 satellite photos of deforested areas of the Boco do Acre region of Brazil have revealed that there were once vast settlements. These can be clearly seen on Google Earth and have forced historians and archaeologists to review their thinking. It now seems possible once again that Paititi really did exist and hidden within it is a potential hoard of lost Inca gold.

The video obtained by investigate journalist David Collins shows military aircraft in the skies above Arizona on the night of one of the world's most famous UFO sightings in March 1997.
This incredible leaked classified video shows fighter jets "engaging unknown aircraft" in the skies above the southern US on the night of one of the world's most famous UFO sightings.
The clip, posted on YouTube, shows American military aircraft on patrol during the Phoenix Lights sighting of March 13, 1997 when a series of lights were spotted above Arizona's state capital.
The military footage was obtained exclusively by US investigative journalist David Collins, of Phoenix-based KWBV Investigations, who later alerted Mirror Online.
The Phoenix Lights were seen by thousands of Arizona residents but 17 years on what exactly happened remains a mystery.
The US military's official explanation claimed the lights were flares from their aircraft.
However, Arizona's then state governor, Fife Symington III, later said in an interview: "I'm a pilot and I know just about every machine that flies.
"I can definitively say that this craft did not resemble any man-made object I'd ever seen and it was certainly not high-altitude flares because flares don't fly in formation."
He added: "It remains a great mystery, other people saw it, responsible people and I don't know why people would ridicule it."
In a post on his blog kwbvnews.com accompanying his video, Mr Collins wrote: "Newly released classified footage of the infamous lights depicts military craft over the Phoenix basin engaging unknown aircraft."
He said his footage "verifies" that US Air Force craft were present that night, however, he insists the other objects in the video are "noticeably not military."
Comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2) discovered just a few months ago by Terry Lovejoy in Australia, (This is his fifth comet discovery) is heading our way out of deep space and out of the deep southern sky.
The green comet is brightening to naked-eye visibility as it moves into northern skies this holiday season.

Comet Lovejoy is brightening faster than experts predicted. Originally the comet was supposed to reach naked-eye visibility in January or February 2015. It may be crossing that threshold now. Reports from the southern hemisphere put the brightness of the comet at magnitude +6.0, similar to the dimmest stars the human eye can see.
On the nights around Christmas, “Comet Q2,” as some are calling it, will glide just south of Sirius, the Dog Star.
Q2 is a very long-period comet, but this is not its first time coming through the inner solar system. On the way in, its path showed an orbital period of roughly 11,500 years.
DOZENS OF WITNESSES OBSERVE AN ALIEN DISC O’HARE AIRPORT NOVEMBER 7, 2006 …… O’HARE AIRPORT…. CHICAGO ILLINOIS
The National UFO Reporting Center has received the following information from a single source, who, for the time being, wishes to remain anonymous, and who prefers not to reveal for what entity he works. We have received documentation about the alleged sighting, which satisfies us as to the veracity of the report, and as to the credentials of the party reporting the incident. We have delayed release of this case, principally because an investigation was begun almost immediately after our receipt of the initial report, and because we were hoping to obtain addition documentation about the sighting, before it could be concealed, or destroyed. At approximately 16:30 p.m. (Central) on Tuesday, November 07, 2006, Federal authorities at O’Hare Airport received a report that approximately a dozen witnesses were observing a small, round disc-shaped object, metallic in appearance, which hovered over Gate C17 at that airport. The object was first spotted by an employee, working on the ramp, who was engaged in “pushing back” Flight 446, departing Chicago for Charlotte, NC. The employee reported to his supervisors that the object appeared to be almost directly above his location at Gate C17, it appeared to be perfectly round, and that its size was approximately equal to a U. S. quarter, held at arm’s length. The object had a metallic appearance, according to the first witness, and it appeared to him to be spinning. The first witness apprised the flight crew of Flight 446 of the existence of the object above their aircraft, and we believe both the pilot and copilot were witness to the bizarre object, as well. The witness also contacted his supervisors, who also witnessed the object, which was visible for approximately 2 minutes. At the end of that time, the object was seen to suddenly accelerate straight up at a very rapid pace, and it “shot” through the solid overcast, which was at 1,900 feet at the time. The witness added that the object appeared to leave a “hole” in the clouds, where it had streaked upwards through the overcast. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration were apprised of the event at the time it was occurring, and personnel in one, or more, of the towers at O’Hare may have witnessed the object, possibly with binoculars. The FAA apparently reported that the object was not visible on radar, although that fact has not been confirmed at the time of this writing. We hope to be able to release more information about the incident at some time in the near future. In the meantime, we would like to invite anyone who may have been personal witness to the event to submit a report of their sighting, using our Online Report Form. We would be most grateful if you would indicate in your report where you were located, at the time of the sighting, and what the object looked like, from your vantage point.
Witnesses assert that UFOs created unusual looking contrails in the sky above the Russian city of Biysk.
The strange circular contrails allegedly appeared earlier this week. But the exact date is unclear . One witness who managed to photograph the aerial anomaly describes, “It was early in the morning and there were not many people on the streets but those that were there were pointing at the sky and I realised there were these strange rings.”

According to the Metro, “Some of those who witnessed their creation claimed that they had seen three spherical yellow spheres flying in a chaotic pattern which had caused the rings. Most speculated that they might have been army planes and some even suggested UFOs.”
Another alleged witness provides more detail, stating, “I saw them at 6.25am and there were four, one of them was particularly bright and two others were flying parallel with that – and then the forth one was at a different angle and further away from the other three.”
Although some point to UFOs, others believe a rocket launch is the culprit. And, judging by the appearance of the contrails, this is a good possibility.

A Russian communications satellite blasted into space on the morning of Monday, December 15 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, which is nearly 1,500 miles from Biysk. A mysterious radar reconnaissance satellite that has been shrouded in secrecy for years is scheduled to launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Thursday, December 18. Although it’s possible that such a secretive project might have launched earlier than scheduled, there is no evidence to support that possibility.
Meteorites and weather-related phenomena have also been offered as possible explanations for the sky rings.
Despite the various suggested explanations for the strange circular contrails, the Metro reports that there has been no official comment regarding the strange anomaly in the sky.

Wanneer er één of meerdere UFO's verschijnen op de live feed van het ISS ruimtestation gaat normaal gesproken het beeld op zwart.
In dit geval waren ze bij NASA waarschijnlijk even koffie aan het drinken.
Het is een beetje moeilijk te begrijpen wat NASA nu eigenlijk precies van plan is.
Duidelijk is dat er iedere dag meer spectaculaire UFO's zijn waar te nemen bij en rondom het ISS internationaal ruimtestation. Waar vroeger onmiddellijk het scherm op zwart ging als er op de live feed per ongeluk een UFO in beeld kwam, schijnt dat nu niet meer zo te zijn en lekken er dus steeds vaker bewust of per ongeluk beelden.
De maker van onderstaande video zegt dan ook dat iemand bij NASA net toevallig even koffie aan het drinken was want anders valt niet te verklaren waarom onderstaande beelden door de censuur zijn geglipt. Behalve natuurlijk als dit simpelweg de bedoeling is dat we geleidelijk aan Disclosure zich zien voltrekken. Verder in dit artikel meer daarover.

Vervolgens verschijnen er nog een aantal in een soort rij.
Al snel wordt echter duidelijk dat we hier niet te maken hebben met afzonderlijke UFO's, maar dat ze onderdeel zijn van een groter geheel.
Een groot sigaarvormig schip zoals ook is waargenomen boven Haarlem.
Waar de voltallige wereldpers een antwoord zou moeten eisen van NASA, gebeurt dat uiteraard niet en blijft het Amerikaanse ruimtevaartinstituut zich in stilzwijgen hullen.
Zij zijn zich uiteraard heel goed bewust dat steeds meer mensen vragen gaan stellen rondom de vreemde gebeurtenissen bij het ISS.
Je vraagt je dan ook af of deze beelden bewust niet worden gecensureerd. De beelden zijn dit keer wat scherper maar nog steeds niet van een kwaliteit zoals we weten dat ze gemaakt kunnen worden. Zeker door instanties zoals NASA. Ook dat zal dus met opzet gebeuren; het verlagen van de kwaliteit van de beelden.
We weten dat de Gray aliens Amerika een ultimatum hebben gesteld om niet later dan 2015 buitenaards leven officiëel bekend te maken en wie weet is dit de aanloop daar naartoe.
Uiteraard is er ook altijd nog de mogelijkheid dat dit de eerste concrete stappen zijn van Project Bluebeam, iets waar Wernher von Braun net voor zijn dood voor waarschuwde.
(N.Morgan) Evidence of life on Mars may have been discovered by Mars Rover. More test need to be performed to conclude life is or was there. Mysterious spikes of methane, that cannot easily be explained by geology or other theories, have been found by an instrument on the curiosity rover. Scientists cannot be sure what is causing the spikes, but it is possible, that it could be very small bacteria-like living organisms.”This temporary increase in methane — sharply up and then back down — tells us there must be some relatively localized source,” said Sushil Atreya of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a member of the Curiosity rover science team. “There are many possible sources, biological or non-biological, such as interaction of water and rock.” Researchers used Curiosity’s onboard Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) laboratory a dozen times in a 20-month period to sniff methane in the atmosphere. During two of those months, in late 2013 and early 2014, four measurements averaged seven parts per billion.
Before and after that, readings averaged only one-tenth that level. Curiosity also detected different Martian organic chemicals in powder drilled from a rock dubbed Cumberland, the first definitive detection of organics in surface materials of Mars. These Martian organics could either have formed on Mars or been delivered to Mars by meteorites.Organic molecules, which contain carbon and usually hydrogen, are chemical building blocks of life, although they can exist without the presence of life. Curiosity’s findings from analyzing samples of atmosphere and rock powder do not reveal whether Mars has ever harbored living microbes, but the findings do shed light on a chemically active modern Mars and on favorable conditions for life on ancient Mars.
“We will keep working on the puzzles these findings present,” said John Grotzinger, Curiosity project scientist of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. “Can we learn more about the active chemistry causing such fluctuations in the amount of methane in the atmosphere? Can we choose rock targets where identifiable organics have been preserved?”
Those readers familiar with my work know that I am quite skeptical about the vast majority of abductee reports. Listening to abductees tell about their having been taken up through ceilings, out through walls, levitated out windows and taken to an alien spaceship or medical laboratory seem more to me like bizarre visionary or hallucinatory experiences. I have no doubt that something unusual, something very special, happened to these experiencers–but what?
I first began interviewing UFO contactees and abductees in 1966 and have included their accounts in a number of books beginning with New UFO Breakthrough (with Joan Whritenour) 1968 and continuing to the present with Real Encounters, Different Dimensions, and Otherworldly Beings (with Sherry Steiger. I have tried to consider the accounts of abductees in an objective manner, while, at the same time, wondering if the occurrences that they report might not really be personal mystical experiences that have taken place in dreams, visions, or out-of-body experiences. My extensive study of the paranormal has convinced me that it is possible for the human soul/spirit to soar free of the normally accepted limitations of time and physical space. An abductee’s account of being taken aboard a UFO might actually be descriptions of a spiritual/nonmaterial experience rather than an actual physical/material one.
With those introductory remarks, I have in my files the most incredible case of abduction which I have ever encountered–and there was physical proof of a most tangible kind. This is a remarkable account of an individual who had either discovered a doorway to other dimensions of reality, along with the ability to dematerialize his physical body, or he had been granted these unique talents through his interaction with UFO entities. If the following report were not attested to by a very matter-of-fact physician associated with one of the largest, most prestigious hospitals in the Midwest, I would be extremely hesitant about sharing it with the public.
I made contact with “Dr. William” through a correspondent who had taken a course in medicine with him. According to my correspondent, Mrs. E., William had not mentioned the experience during the several weeks' duration of the course, but one day after a class session he had mentioned it over a cup of coffee. According to William, the following occurrence took place in a hospital in Hawaii in 1968. William was then about nineteen years old, serving in the medical corps and assigned to the military section of the hospital.
For obvious reasons I will not mention the name of the hospital in Hawaii. Neither will I give William's full name. He is a quiet, sincere man who wishes to continue his medical career and cannot see that his association with such an account would enhance his reputation as a doctor. Briefly, this is what happened:
A bedridden patient who was in traction and totally unable to move, with pins through his tibiae and femurs, told William that he would be gone that night for one hour to join his friends in a UFO. He said that William might accompany him ifhe truly believed in UFO's.
William indulgently told the patient that he would be unable to join him that night, as he would be busy.
Later, at bedcheck, true to his word, the patient had disappeared, leaving the metal pins on the bed. An extensive search of the hospital and the surrounding grounds by military policemen failed to produce any trace of the medically immobile man.
Here follows my questioning of Dr. William over the bizarre occurrence:
How old was this man, and why had he been brought to the military section of the hospital?
He was about sixty, a veteran of World War II. He was kind of a sixty-year-old hippie. He had been on an LSD trip when he walked in front of a semitruck and broke both of his legs in several places.
What was his name?
It was a Spanish-sounding kind of name, something like “Espinia.” He had bushy eyebrows, shoulder-length blondish hair, very large eyes. He had a round face, a flattened nose. His height was about five-foot-six and he was a bit chubby.
Did you often engage Espinia in conversation?
It was difficult not to. He was always talking about his weird techniques for meditation.
Espinia had a strange accent. By the time I was assigned to that hospital, I had already been around the world a couple of times, and I'm a bug on accents anyway; but I simply could not place Espinia's. And he always seemed to have marijuana, or at least he seemed to be high a lot. We couldn't figure out where he was getting it. He had some pretty farout friends who came to visit him, but we always tried to search them carefully.
Was there anything particularly unusual about his friends?
They were just young hippie types. Espinia was always talking about peace, love, brothethood. You know, how we should get out of the war in Vietnam.
The night he disappeated, I was working the 11 [P.M.] to 7 [A.M.] shift. When I made the bed check, Espinia told me that he would be gone for about an hour, and he reminded me that I could come along if I wanted to. I chuckled and walked on to see about the rest of the patients.
Espinia was in a six-man room, but that night he was alone. My post was almost right across from his room. When I sat at my desk, I could survey the entire corridor. No one could get on or off the floor without my seeing them. And, of course, there were nurses, doctors, interns, and MP's walking around.
When I checked Espinia's room a bit later–maybe out of curiosity–he was gone. The traction weights were hanging there; the pins were on the bed; bur Espinia was gone.
I put out an alarm, and MP's and other hospital personnel searched the place thoroughly.
Espinia was gone. No one had seen anything.
Oh, just a minute! Some other patients said that they had seen a bright light, a very bright light, on that side of the building, and that would have been just before Espinia's disappearance.
Is there any way that Espinia could have somehow removed the pins and the traction bars himself and crawled away?
Well, first of all, a man would faint from the pain if he tried to pull those pins out. I mean, this guy was lying in that bed with both legs up, his femurs broken. Think of the terrible pain of trying to crawl under such conditions. It would be impossible!
After searching the hospital–and even the grounds–for an hour, somebody looked in Espinia's room, and there he was again, back in traction, pins in place. The patient had been gone for one hour. He told his interrogators that he had been with his “friends.”
Every pin was in its place. A doctor on the floor said that while it might be possible for a man to pull the pins out, it would be impossible for anyone to shove them back in by himself.
Four MP's grilled him for hours, but Espinia wouldn't even reply to their questions. When they finally left him, he looked at me and told me that I could have come along with him, but his UFO friends knew that I didn't really believe in them. He said that he and his friends had spent a delightful hour flying over the Hawaiian Islands and chatting about metaphysics.
When I chastisedhim for having caused such a disturbance in the hospital, Espinia became a bit sheepish and said that the next time he went flying with his friends, he would leave his body there and just go with them in his mind.
William swears that this iucident really happened. As I listened to him tell the story in his apartment, William's wife of a few months expressed her amazement. William had never mentioned the experience to her, and she said that she was hearing it for the first time that evening.
This account remains in my files as the strangest UFO abduction account that I have ever heard.

In 1969 zag arts en egyptoloog dr. Khalil Messiha het voorwerp in een museum. Hij kwam tot de ontdekking dat het erg leek op de modelvliegtuigjes die hij als kind maakte.
Professor emeritus John H. Lienhard van de Universiteit van Houston meent dat de Oude Egyptenaren beschikten over vliegtuigen. Hij legde uit: “De andere vogels hadden poten. Deze had er geen. De andere vogels hadden beschilderde vleugels. Deze had er geen. De andere vogels hadden staartveren zoals een echte vogel. Dit vreemde houten model was voorzien van een roer. Er is een vleugelprofiel zichtbaar en ook klopt het model aerodynamisch gezien.”

De broer van Messiha, een vliegtuigbouwkundige, maakte een grotere versie van het model, waarmee hij kon vliegen.
Lienhard merkte op dat in de 3e eeuw voor Christus vele uitvindingen werden gedaan. Hij schreef: “Dit houten model kan niet hebben bestaan tenzij iemand met grote, lichte modellen werkte of zelfs met versies die mensen konden vervoeren.”
Martin Gregorie, die zelf zweefvliegtuigen maakt, probeerde het experiment van Messiha’s broer te herhalen, maar slaagde daar niet in. Hij zei dat het artefact zonder het stabilo, het horizontale draagvlak van een vliegtuig, onstabiel zou zijn geweest. Gregorie denkt niet dat het model werd gebruikt om vrachtvliegtuigen te maken. Hij vermoedt dat het een stuk speelgoed was.
De ruimterobot van NASA heeft op Mars een piek opgemeten in de uitstoot van methaan. Dit wijst op de aanwezigheid van levende organismen want de meest logische verklaring voor de aanwezigheid van methaan is dat het werd aangemaakt door bacteriën.
Dat er op Mars een kleine hoeveelheid methaan aanwezig is, was al bekend, maar het ging over zo'n kleine hoeveelheden dat dat niet echt als een aanwijzing voor leven werd beschouwd. De wetenschappers van NASA die zich met de robot Curiosity bezighouden, meldden gisteren echter dat de dure robot van 2,5 miljard dollar een piek kon opmeten.
Op de Aarde wordt methaan onder andere aangemaakt voor bacteriën in de voormagen van runderen en in aardolievelden. Het idee dat er koeien en aardolievelden op Mars te vinden zijn is misschien wel wat vergezocht.
Op de Rode planeet wordt methaan op regelmatige basis uitgestoten zo bleek na meer dan twintig maanden van informatieverwerking. Curiosity stelde het methaan vast in de krater van Gale, waar de jeep in augustus 2012 plaats vatte.
Organische moleculen zijn geen bewijs van leven op Mars. Maar ze zijn op aarde wel de bouwstenen van alle leven en hun aanwezigheid wordt dan ook algemeen beschouwd als een absolute voorwaarde voor leven op Mars.

De wetenschap heeft zopas een belangrijke stap gezet in de zoektocht naar leven op andere planeten. Ruimterobot Curiosity, eigendom van NASA, heeft een piek in de uitstoot van methaan op Mars gemeten, wat wijst op de aanwezigheid van levende organismen. Ook werd voor het eerst definitief bewijs van organische moleculen gevonden.
Dat er op Mars een kleine hoeveelheid methaan aanwezig is, was al bekend. Het ging echter over zo'n kleine gehaltes dat dat niet echt als een aanwijzing voor leven werd beschouwd. De wetenschappers van NASA die zich met Curiosity bezighouden meldden vandaag echter dat de dure robot - goed voor zo'n 2,5 miljard dollar - een piek kon opmeten.
De wetenschappers hebben geen enkel idee waar het methaan vandaan komt, maar het zou wel eens kunnen wijzen op het bestaan van levende organismen op de rode planeet. De meest logische verklaring voor de aanwezigheid van methaan is immers dat het werd aangemaakt door bacteriën.
Olievelden of koeien Op onze planeet komt CH4 in de natuur voor in samenhang met aardolie. Het wordt ook aangemaakt door bacteriën in de voormagen van runderen. Het idee dat er olievelden of koeien op Mars voorkomen, lijkt evenwel vergezocht.
De wetenschappers baseren zich voor hun vaststelling dat methaan op regelmatige basis op de Rode Planeet wordt uitgestoten, op meer dan twintig maanden van informatieverwerking. Curiosity stelde het methaan vast in de krater van Gale, waar de jeep in augustus 2012 plaats vatte.
Chemicaliën De NASA meldde ook dat Curiosity verschillende Martiaanse chemicaliën heeft ontdekt in het poeder dat de robot uitboorde uit de Cumberland-rots. Het gaat om de eerste definitieve ontdekking van organische elementen in het Marsoppervlak. Het is wel niet duidelijk of die organismen zich op Mars zelf hebben gevormd of er gekomen zijn door een meteorietinslag.

Mysterious spikes of methane, that cannot easily be explained by geology or other theories, have been found by an instrument on the curiosity rover.

Last night we were on our way home about midnight (12/13/2014). We made it to Carmel Rd (Our Washburn Rd, comes off Carmel Rd) in Hillsboro, Ohio. Robert drove round the curve and as we topped the hill, I was texting looking at my phone and I heard him say "What the hell was that??" I said "What?" He said "Something just ran in front of me and I don't know what it was." I looked at him and even in the darkness could see he had turned a shade of white. To sum it up, he explained to me what it looked like. Very tall, skinny for the most part except it's legs, asphalt gray, no jawline, no arms that he could see and it's legs were bent backwards as it ran. He isn't a believer, or never was. He always said, I don't believe in anything until I see it. Well, he's seen a UFO, he see's the circle in our yard and now he's seen an alien.
I told him to draw it before he couldn't remember it anymore.

The angle you see it, (right) was the way it was running.
He isn't the type to lie and he wouldn't risk looking stupid. He is a 60 year old Marine.
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Secretary Catherine Magaya who was attacked by a cyanide-like substance in her boss’ office on Wednesday, has spoken out on her ordeals in her closet work environment.
Mrs Magaya said she has had many bizarre encounters inside her boss’ office one in which a large rock fell from the roof and almost killed her.
“Just a few weeks ago, a rock fell from nowhere to land on chef’s desk, missing my head by just an inch,” she said.

The skeletal frame of a mysterious creature appeared on a Toms River beach Wednesday just after the nor’easter hit the area this week.
The animal was photographed by Denise Wirth of Lavallette, who snapped pictures of the animal after friends told her about it.
“It looked like something prehistoric,” she said, noting that it was found in a neighborhood known as ”North Lavallette.” “You don’t usually see something wash up like this.”
Gregg Sakowicz, a Rutgers University research professor, wrote on his “Professor Sak” website that the animal appears to be a “bottlenose dolphin.”
Wirth, noting that the Marine Mammal Stranding Center has been notified, said she assumes the animal was buried first, and was unearthed after big waves pounded the shoreline.

The 36-year-old model, whose house is on renovation currently, said she wants to call in a medium as she and Hayler keep hearing unusual sounds and smelling strange scents, reported Contactmusic.
“Kieran keeps smelling cigarettes and I Googled it and spirits normally smell of smoke and flowers. I am getting a medium in. Because we’re knocking things down, we’re disturbing the spirits. I am 100 per cent sure there’s a ghost,” she said. - Asian Age
Woman Claims Demons Made Her Stab Friend, Accused of Assault
A downstate woman claims a demon possessed her when she stabbed her friend in the neck in Cheboygan County (Michigan).
Police say she attacked the victim in the middle of the night on Sunday at a home on Freedom Road in Mackinaw Township.
Torri Harris is charged with assault.
Police say Harris claimed she felt possessed by a demon and needed to perform an exorcism on the home, and that the demon forced her to stab a 21-year-old man.
The man was cut on the right side of his head behind his ear.
He was treated for his injuries and will be okay. - 9and10 News

UFO mania: The Mysterious and Unexplained Holes in Pisco Valley, Peru
A mysterious site spans the landscape of Pisco Valley, Peru. On the same plateau where the famous Nazca Lines are found, thousands of holes have been carved into rock, creating a band that stretches further than a mile.
It is unknown who carved these holes, or why they were created, but it is clear that this vast creation must have been a painstaking job, requiring many hours of manpower.
The band of holes in Pisco Valley, Peru literally contains thousands of holes. Described as “man-sized,” these holes are approximately a meter wide, and one to two meters deep.
Some of the holes are quite shallow, giving the appearance that they had not yet been completed.
They were carved into a band, approximately 8-10 holes wide, and span a mile across a rugged mountain terrain. The number of holes is estimated to be around 6,900. Some of the holes are lined up with precision, while others appear more staggered.
It is estimated that it took decades to chip the stone away to reveal the band of holes, but it is unknown why this task was undertaken. Today’s inhabitants of the area do not know how the holes were created, why they were created, or who created them. There have not been any artifacts uncovered to reveal any further information about the holes. Some believe that because the holes are “man-sized,” that they may be some sort of vertical grave, intended for burying the dead. However, this has not been substantiated by the recovery of any bones, artifacts, or other human remains to indicate a burial site.
Some archaeologists have theorized that the holes were dug to store grain, and other essentials. Considering the quantity of holes, and the depth of each hole, it is likely that any civilization would have been able to store a great volume of grain.
However, this theory has been criticized. Storage containers for grain could have been built with much more ease than the efforts required to carve the holes into the rock.
For that reason, it is unlikely that any inhabitant would take on the arduous task of carving the holes if there were a better way to accomplish their storage goals.

While it is unknown who created the holes, they are clearly a man-made construction. A few miles to the east of the band of holes, satellite imagery reveals what appear to be the remnants of an ancient civilization.
Although the area has not been identified as the location of a particular civilization, it closely resembles the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu. The mystery of who created the holes, and for what purpose, may be solved by further exploring what may be the remnants of a nearby ancient settlement.
Few other clues about the holes have been uncovered. The band of holes covers a mile of rocky mountain terrain, with a well-defined beginning and ending point. The ending point has brought forth some speculation due to its odd appearance. The band abruptly comes to an end near an area of land that has an unnaturally darkened color.
Some have said that the darkened area appears to resemble an area that has been destroyed by an explosion. There have been alternative theories that the holes were created by extraterrestrial beings – perhaps ancient aliens who visited Earth, and left behind markings to help show where they had been.
Clearly, an image as striking as the band of holes in Pisco Valley, Peru is bound to bring forth many questions as to who created the holes, and why.
We can be certain that such a labor-intensive creation must have held some sort of purpose for those creating it, although that purpose has left behind no indication of what it may have been.
Not a single hair or tooth or artifact has been found to date to shed light upon this mysterious band, leaving it to be labeled as one of the unsolved mysteries of the world.
