Dit is ons nieuw hondje Kira, een kruising van een waterhond en een Podenko. Ze is sinds 7 februari 2024 bij ons en druk bezig ons hart te veroveren. Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

En 1964, l'auteur de science-fiction Isaac Asimov se lançait dans un petit jeu: imaginer le monde de 2014. 50 ans plus tard, son pronostic est tellement proche de la réalité que cela en est presque effrayant.

Visionnaire. Le 16 août 1964, Isaac Asimov, l'un des plus grands auteurs de science-fiction de tous les temps, tentait de prédire le monde tel qu'il serait en 2014. 49 ans plus tard, ses pronostics ont été republiés par le New York Times (article en anglais, traduit en français ici). Verdict: Asimov est tellement proche de la réalité que c'en est presque effrayant. Illustration en quelques citations:
"En 2014, seuls des vaisseaux sans équipage humain auront atterri sur Mars, même si une expédition humaine sera en préparation et une colonie martienne déjà imaginée".
Curiosity est un robot de la NASA. Il a été déployé sur le sol de la "planète rouge" en août 2012 dans le cadre de la mission Mars Science Laboratory. C'est le quatrième engin envoyé sur Mars par la Nasa, c'est aussi le plus imposant (899 kg) en raison des nombreux instruments scientifiques embarqués.
La colonisation de Mars par l'Homme, un thème de science fiction maintes fois développé, (Homme-Plus de F. Pohl, Total Recall adaptation de Souvenirs à Vendre de Philip K. Dick etc.), est en passe de devenir une réalité.
Si aucun Homme n'a encore posé un pied sur la petite planète tellurique, de nombreux projets sont en cours, dont celui de la société hollandaise Mars One, qui veut envoyer des humains la coloniser d'ici 2023. Plusieurs dizaines de milliers de volontaires ont déjà postulé, alors que la société précise bien que c'est un aller sans retour...

Kenshiro, le robot japonais fait "de muscles et d'os" (voir la vidéo ci-dessus), est le robot qui, à ce jour, possède une structure interne se rapprochant le plus de celle d'un être humain. Reste que les robots humanoïdes ne sont pas encore vraiment au point (intelligence artificielle, motricité) et restent très loin des robots aux cerveaux positroniques imaginés par Isaac Asimov...

Les trottoirs/tapis roulants ont souvent fait partie des écrits d'Isaac Asimov, dans de nombreuses nouvelles et surtout dans Les Cavernes d'acier -un de ses meilleurs romans- où il donne une plus ample description (page 17 dans la version de poche J'ai lu) de ce qu'il imagine dans un futur très lointain: un réseau complexe constitué de tapis roulants de différentes vitesses, où les utilisateurs doivent sauter d'un tapis lent à un plus rapide, pour arriver progressivement au principal, le plus rapide, "L'express" . De quoi faire (presque) penser aux tapis de Montparnasse, à Paris.
"On se focalisera de plus en plus sur les moyens de transport qui ont le moins de contact avec le sol".
Le dernier projet en date s'appelle "Hyperloop" et prévoit de transporter des passagers dans des tubes à basse pression, à une vitesse quasi-supersonique. Son design a été dévoilé lundi 31 août par l'inventeur et entrepreneur américano-sud-africain Elon Musk.
Si ce n'est pas le premier mode de transport terrestre à ne pas toucher le sol -il y a déjà les trains à sustentation magnétique et à lévitation- l'Hyperloop serait de loin le plus rapide (plus de 1000km/h).
"Des satellites synchronisés, en orbite, rendront possible les appels directs partout sur la planète".
Un Touareg utilise son téléphone satellite, dans le nord du Mali, en plein désert. Une technologie rendue possible par un nombre toujours plus important de satellites envoyés dans l'espace. À tel point, d'ailleurs, que l'orbite terrestre est encombrée de millions de débris qui constituent une pollution dangereuse.
"Les communications seront à la fois visuelles et auditives. Vous pourrez à la fois voir et entendre la personne à qui vous téléphonez. Les écrans serviront non seulement à communiquer, mais aussi à consulter des documents, lire des livres, regarder des photos".
Facetime, Skype, Hangouts. Par ordinateur ou par téléphone portable, les discussions instantanées face à face sont courantes. Les smartphones, et tablettes permettent de prendre et consulter des photos, des documents ou lire des livres numériques.
"En fait, en 2014, il est fort probable que lors des grandes expositions, des télévisions 3D à taille humaine diffuseront des ballets".
Asimov (comme Aldous Huxley avant lui) s'est aussi intéressé aux problèmes liés à la natalité et la surpopulation. Constatant que le taux de natalité double tous les 40 ans, l'auteur de science-fiction prédisait: "En 2014, il sera fort probable que la population mondiale atteigne les 6 milliards 500 millions. Celle des États-Unis sera probablement autour des 350 millions". À ses yeux, le monde n'aurait donc que deux solutions : "augmenter le nombre de morts", ou "réduire le taux de natalité. Sans aucun doute, le monde de 2014 se sera entendu pour valider cette seconde méthode", lançait-il, optimiste.
Aujourd'hui, la population mondiale atteint les 7,2 milliards d'individus, dépassant "légèrement" ses prévisions, selon un rapport de l'ONU publié en juin 2013. La population des États-Unis, en revanche, est un peu plus faible que prévu, soit 316 millions d'habitants, selon la Fedstat.
"Des repas entiers, semi-préparés, pourront être stockés au frigo et prêts à être consommés. Les équipements de cuisine pourront préparer des 'repas automatiques', chauffer l'eau et en faire du café".
Les plats semi-préparés et prêts à consommer sont légion dans nos supermarchés. Les prix sont tirés vers le bas, et les scandales alimentaires sont d'ailleurs nombreux. Récemment, c'est Findus qui s'est fait épingler pour de la viande de cheval retrouvée dans ses lasagnes "au boeuf".
"Les appareils électriques n'auront plus besoin de fil électrique pour fonctionner, évidemment".
"Évidemment"... Ordinateurs portables, téléphones portables, Internet (wifi)... aujourd'hui, tout devient sans fil. Mais comme le remarque Slate.fr, "il reste encore les câbles des chargeurs de tous ces appareils", indispensables pour les recharger. Sauf que l'électricité est en passe de se débarrasser de son fil, justement. De nombreuses entreprises et chercheurs tentent de mettre en place des technologies d'alimentation électrique sans fil. La révolution est proche.
"Beaucoup d'énergie aura été investie pour créer des véhicules avec des 'robot-brains' (cerveaux mécanisés)".
Si Isaac Asimov n'a pas évoqué Internet en 1964, il l'a fait 25 ans plus tard (en 1989), lors d'une interview télévisée. Et, une fois de plus, ses prédictions -concernant l'évolution d'Internet, soit le web 2.0- sont d'une incroyable précision. L'interview, ci-dessous, est malheureusement en anglais:
Même en connaissant le génie de l'auteur du Cycle des robots et du Cycle de Fondation, la précision de ses pronostics a de quoi surprendre. Mais ce serait oublier qu'Isaac Asimov a quasiment inventé la robotique et les trois lois qui la régissent. Ce serait aussi oublier que les histoires de l'auteur, qui a connu un succès international, ont inspiré et influencé des scientifiques, des industriels et des artistes...
Pour les fans, c'est en tout cas très clair: Isaac Asimov était soit un membre de la Seconde fondation soit un historien du futur qui a trouvé un moyen de voyager dans le passé. Ça, ou alors le fait qu'il était d'une intelligence rare...

If there is a UFO reality, then why has no one blown the whistle? Informants in the U.K. have been talking about UFO’s and Flying Triangles because they see them every day. I have been a faithful subscriber to UFO rags from the U.K. for a long time. These magazines try to use a more down to earth approach as to which UFO’s are extra terrestrial and which aren’t. In the British UFO Magazines there is no question as to whether or not UFO’s exist. In order to understand what I am trying to tell you, you need to understand why Ufology in the UK is commonplace, you need to realize Britain’s UFO history. Britain has always been the center of “paranormal” anomalies. From strange structures, to ghosts, to intricate crop circles. With all of these strange things happening you’d think that there would be unlimited investigations.
There are your amateurs and then there are some that are appointed. One man in particular is Nick Pope, who joined the British Ministry in 1985 and was involved in policy making during the Gulf War, and the Bosnian-Serb conflict. Pope was then moved in the summer of 1991. He was appointed to a new post at Whitehall Secretariat Air Staff, Department 2A. I guess you could call it the equivalent of the “X-files.” As with any classic “I don’t belong here” story Pope did not believe in the UFO hysteria, and was very skeptical about the Paranormal. After dealing with the reports from the “UFO” desk Pope was slowly changing his mind on the issue. After 3 years at the “UFO” desk Pope declared that UFO’s were a reality. He concluded that there was plenty of evidence to prove their existence. Pope was officially supposed to investigate whether or not these strange aircraft posed a threat to the UK’s defense. Unofficially He was expected to dismiss their existence. Pope decided it was up to him to tell the truth about UFO’s. Pope claims that his peers and the department labeled him a loose cannon and found him to be very suspicious. They lost trust in him. But Pope stood by his story, analyzing all the data, and claiming that it all added it up to a case for the existence of UFOs.
A lot of the M.O.D. workers began humming the Twilight Zone theme when ever he would walk into the room, and after the X-files made it to the UK they called him “Spooky.” After all of the ridicule, and after claiming that he felt UFOs posed a major threat to our defense systems, Pope was moved in 1994 from the M.O.D. to the financial department. The thing that is most frustrating is despite Pope’s entire candor, he is still bound by Britain’s official secrecy act. So is what Pope saying fact or fiction? Apparently it’s fact. UFO’s are being seen in Britain Some say it can be explained, but Pope says that a technological threat of non-human origin exists. Some say it is Science fiction, Pope continues to investigate such claims. Even though it really isn’t his job any more.
Since 1990 there have been over 4000 sightings of what is known as the “Flying Triangle” or “Silent Vulcan” Over Britain. In the early 90’s there were a similar number over Belgium, France, Holland and Germany, with fighters being sent up to intercept this unknown craft. With people seeing aircraft “as big as a football field and hovering silently” to “hovering craft that shoot off silently.” Another claim was the sighting of “a huge black triangle rising out of the water” it is one of Europe’s most enduring waves of sightings. Nick Pope wrote a book about many of these sightings including one over several Army bases in one night. One of the more controversial cases is the Bentwaters -Woodbridge UFO case. The Bentwaters-Woodbridge bases are leased to the United States Airforce under NATO terms. The case is one of the creepiest ones I have ever heard. There were at least 30 witnesses who came forward to tell the story of what happened to USAF personelle and British Military in the Rendlesham forest between the two bases, in December of 1980. The incident began when two USAF security personelle spotted unusual lights hovering over Rendlesham forest. The security staff was worried that a small plane was crashing in the heavily wooded area. According to Sergeant Larry Warren, who was stationed at Bentwaters, It looked like the plane hit and a fire was smouldering in the forest.
A group of men set out to find the strange red glowing area. What the men came a upon was a triangular UFO. Airmen Steve Roberts and James Archer said that the UFO had a red light on top of it and blue and white lights at the middle and bottom. Archer then claimed he saw occupants inside the strange craft. He claimed that they did not appear human. There were also reports of Jeeps and several High-powered “Light all’s” abruptly died. Sgts. Larry Warren and Adrian Bustinza said that the energy just drained out. Animals were going crazy, and the men mentioned a yellow mist in the air. There was another strange anomaly in the area away from the clearing . It was transparent, elliptical like a see through aspirin tablet. It then filled with a bright pulsating mist and it emitted a rainbow of colored lights. There was film shot of the incident. And audio tapes made. However it was later confiscated and flown to Ramstein Air force base in West Germany.

Eén van de grotere gevaren voor de mensheid is een asteroïde die onverwacht richting aarde koerst.
Volgens berekeningen van de ESA (European Space Agency) krijgen wij hooguit drie dagen vooraf waarschuwing wanneer dit het geval zal zijn.
De Russische onderzoeker, Vadim Chernobrov, zegt dat er diep onder het zand op de bodem van het Vygozero meer in de Russische republiek Karelia, een meteoriet ligt die ongeveer een ton weegt.
“Op 1 december vloog er een hemellichaam in een oostelijke richting rond acht uur in de ochtend. De meteoriet maakte praktisch geen geluid terwijl het naar beneden viel en het meest luide geluid dat het maakte was het moment dat het ijs in het meer werd geraakt”. Hij voegde eraan toe dat dit door weinig mensen was gezien omdat het en een dun bevolkt gebied betreft en het vroeg in de ochtend was. Duikers zijn erin geslaagd om het object onder het zand op de bodem van het meer te lokaliseren.
Verwacht niet dat je bovenstaand soort berichten terug zult vinden in de mainstream media. De machthebbers hebben er geen baat bij dat je weet dat er zomaar stukken puin uit de ruimte die een ton wegen, zomaar op aarde neerstorten.
Dan zou de bevolking kunnen eisen dat men wat aan deze bedreigingen doet in plaats van zich bezighouden met zinloze oorlogen.
Of we het nu leuk vinden of niet, feit is dat we steeds vaker te maken zullen krijgen met stukken ruimtepuin die in de vorm van asteroïden onze kant op komen.
In dat kader hebben we onlangs kunnen zien hoe NASA bewust de bevolking misleidt door te doen voorkomen alsof er geen toename is in het aantal asteroïden die in de vorm van meteorieten, meestal brandend, onze atmosfeer binnendringen.
Volgens een bericht op Yahoo heeft de ESA (European Space Agency) bij monde van Gerhard Drolshagen verklaard dat wanneer er een asteroïde richting aarde komt we hooguit drie dagen van tevoren worden gewaarschuwd.
Er wordt dan een optimistisch toontje aan gegeven, door te zeggen dat dit nog steeds veel beter is dan de vier minuten waarschuwing die we zouden krijgen als er nucleaire raketten door het luchtruim zouden vliegen. Het effect van beiden is ongeveer te vergelijken, dus wat dat betreft heeft hij gelijk.
De ESA is ook begonnen met een simulatieprogramma om uit te vinden wat er zou gebeuren wanneer een gemiddelde asteroïde de aarde zou raken. Dat schijnt toch niet zo gemakkelijk te zijn vanwege het grote aantal variabelen. Dan moet je denken aan zaken zoals massa, snelheid, compositie en hoek van de inslag.
Wat er in ieder geval wel uit die simulatie kwam is dat men eigenlijk pas drie dagen van tevoren genoeg weet van al die variabelen om een exacte voorspelling te kunnen doen.
Dan wordt er vervolgens gezegd dat drie dagen voldoende is om een aanzienlijke hoeveelheid levens te kunnen redden. Wat er dan niet bij wordt gezegd, is om welke levens het zou gaan.
Dit zal dan waarschijnlijk niet de doorsnee burgerbevolking zijn van dat betreffende gebied, maar wel de elite die met een waarschuwing van drie dagen voldoende tijd zal hebben om zich te verbergen in hun goed voorbereide schuilplaatsen.
Uit alles blijkt dat er weinig of niets wordt gedaan om de gewone bevolking te behoeden voor naderend onheil uit de ruimte. Die ton wegende meteoriet die terechtkwam in een verlaten gebied in Rusland had voor hetzelfde geld een dichtbevolkte stad in ons land kunnen raken.
Hoewel er dan voor de hele grote asteroïden een waarschuwing zal komen drie dagen vooraf, zal dit niet gebeuren voor al de kleinere brokstukken.
Stop dus met die zinloze oorlogen en begin met een waarschuwings- en onderscheppingssysteem om de groeiende stroom grote en kleine asteroïden te “vangen”.

Un beau cadeau de l’agence spatiale américaine. La Nasa a publié une vidéo de sept minutes pour faire revivre la mission Apollo 8 du 24 décembre 1968. Une mission qui avait pour objectif d’immortaliser la face cachée de la Lune. Résultat, un des clichés les plus célèbres de l’histoire, Earthrise (Lever de Terre).
Il y a quarante-cinq ans, le 24 décembre 1968, le commandant Frank Borman, le pilote du module de commande, Jim Lovell, et le pilote du module lunaire, William Anders, sont chargés de prendre des photos de la face cachée de notre plus proche satellite.

Ils interrompent leur mission pour prendre celles d'un lever de Terre. «Wow, n'est-ce pas splendide!» s’enthousiasme William Anders. «Hey, ne prends pas cette photo, ce n'est pas programmé», plaisante Frank Borman.
Un premier cliché, en noir et blanc. Puis un second, en couleurs. La vidéo montre que les astronautes ont eu beaucoup de chance d’assister à cette scène. La capsule spatiale s’est tournée pile au bon moment. La Nasa a reconstitué le cours des événements grâce aux relevés de la sonde Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, qui ont été mixés aux images et à la bande-son de la mission Apollo 8.

The 60-year-old was driving near Carmel when he witnessed a strange entity crossing the road.
One of the more unusual cases to have been reported to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) in recent weeks, the incident occurred on Carmel Road in Hillsboro, Ohio on December 12th.
A former marine, whose name has not been disclosed, had been driving his vehicle in the area when he and his wife encountered what they described to be a "7ft tall slim, gray creature with muscular legs that walked like its knees were backwards."
MUFON investigator Ron McGlone has since been appealing for other witnesses.
"I would like to get this information out in your area in hopes that maybe someone else has seen it - or that their giant cross-bred ostrich got loose - or something!" he told a local newspaper.

Whether it’s a shorter video showing orb-like aircraft with lights hovering, or whether it’s a longer video of ‘hovering coloured lights,’ there is a massive lack of certainty surrounding this subject.
There’s nothing new about this though. For decades, there have been both recorded and unrecorded sightings of UFOs and even of the extra-terrestrial beings who supposedly pilot them. One of the biggest problems though, is filtering the nonsense and the attention seekers from those who are telling the truth and are genuine.
More recently though, it has become clear that in some of the released cables from WikiLeaks, which have caused much dispute and commotion the world over, there are some nuggets of information regarding UFOs and extra-terrestrial encounters. However, there is very little if any information provided by these cables which could be described as sensational.
But, the very presence of references to UFOs and the like, in what were until quite recently, confidential government documents surely adds just a little bit of credence to those arguing that we are closer than we think to the wider universe and its inhabitants.
There are a few interesting points to be found in this particular cable, courtesy of WikiLeaks. For example high ranking officials, such as the Chief Cabinet Secretary of the Japanese government was not happy that his government’s official statements regarding UFOs, flatly denied their existence. Additionally, he is quoted as saying regarding his government’s UFO policies: “I am sure that unidentified flying objects exist, otherwise it is impossible to explain the Nazca Lines (In Peru), isn’t it?”
Speaking to Neon Nettle ex MoD Nick Pope said; "So far, the UFO-related material on WikiLeaks has been low-level diplomatic chatter, but if Julian Assange really does have a spaceship in a hangar smoking gun, it could be his ultimate get out of jail free card.
"Any genuine document confirming an extraterrestrial presence would be the ultimate game-changer. It could bring down any government implicated in a cover-up, and would literally change the world."
Looking at the subject logically, it is totally feasible that there could be sustainable life beyond our planet. There are countless other planet systems, constellations and even galaxies that we have never even ventured close to. Whether you look at space and the universe from a purely scientific viewpoint or a religious one, it is very hard to deny that life beyond planet Earth is more than likely.
The Bible, in its opening verse talks about the “…creation of Heaven and Earth” and it isn’t totally clear what exactly ‘heaven’ refers to in its entirety.
Additionally, from a scientific view, we have for thousands of years been fascinated by the sun, moon, stars and other planets out there and we have gazed upon them time and time again. We’ve been to the moon and back more than once and we have sent missions (not human yet) to Mars. We are justifiably amazed by space and what it may hold.
Every few months there are sensationalised stories about people who claim to have met ‘aliens’ or even have been abducted by them and experimented upon. Recently here in the UK there was Samantha McDonald, who claimed to have been repeatedly abducted by aliens. However, like most that make falsified such claims, she says she can't remember anything about the supposed encounters.

It’s a huge shame because if there were fewer attention grabbers out there, vying for a story in the press about how they claim to have been abducted and probed by aliens, we would be more inclined to look into such claims when they do arise. Whether admitted or not, most governments in the world have some form of department whose job it is to look into and examine claims of UFO sightings and extra-terrestrial contacts.
And then there’s the greatly contested point of whether the extra-terrestrials that are supposedly out there are what are known as ‘reptilians’ or whether they are the rarely tall ‘greys’ which we all recognise from animations, drawings and movies. To be honest, either is as feasible as each other. Why would it be crazy to say that out of the thousands of planets out there, there are others, as well as Earth, which harbour civilisations?
There are other problems too that arise when looking a little deeper into this area. Most sightings seem to occur during the hours of darkness, which means that any footage recorded or captured, is typically unclear and obscured. Also, sceptics of UFOs’ credibility do have a point when they bring up the argument that in this day and age; the 21st century, why has nobody captured compelling proof of even just a single UFO or extra-terrestrial being?
Most of us have smartphones with extremely powerful and impressively clear cameras. If you or I were to try and take a photo of an aeroplane or a helicopter, it wouldn’t be all that difficult. So why are pictures and videos of UFOs so damn unclear? Just one crystal clear picture or video could blow the debate wide open and could really shed some important light on what is a wonderfully interesting topic.
Space missions sent into our galaxy and to other planets, such as the recently docked Curiosity rover which has landed on Mars tend to find signs that life may well have been existent and sustainable on these planets once upon a time. For example, a meteorite named Tissint, which landed in the Moroccan desert in 2011, contained a carbon chemical compound which is consistent with harbouring life. It also showed chemical evidence that it may have held water at one point in time or another. Also found on Mars more recently by NASA’s rover, was the chemical compound Methane, which is a tell-tale sign of the existence of microbes, another form of life.
There are whistle-blowers who have told us that governments themselves believe strongly in UFOs and extra-terrestrials. That if nothing else then should be a small piece of comfort in a very complicated subject. Whether or not you are a fan of the government of the country in which you live, at least they seem to be taking the matter of UFOs and extra-terrestrial life a bit more seriously than in times gone by.
The only problem is that while there are those out there who are genuinely trying to uncover the truth and something new on this subject, there are also abundances of the other type of enthusiast; you know the type.

An Indiana witness at New Albany reported watching and following a bright light UFO that appeared to get the attention of ground responders in all-terrain vehicles about 5:30 p.m. on December 22, 2014, according to testimony in Case 62108 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was heading home at 5:30 p.m. along westbound I-265 about two miles from the intersection with I-64 when the object was first seen.

“As I was approaching the interchange, I saw a bright light hovering or moving slowly in the distance,” the witness stated. “Although it was beginning to get dark, there was plenty of late, bright sunshine. The only clouds were much higher than the object.”
The witness described the object.
“The object had a luminous trail behind it of about 20-50 feet. When it eventually passed through some small clouds I could still see the light it generated. As I began heading north up I-64, the object moved toward Edwardsville. I was driving 45-50 mph and it was parallel to me.”
But then the object appeared to slow down and began moving toward Georgetown.
“In 20-30 seconds it gradually faded to nothing, while still moving.”
About this time, the witness began to hear sirens.
“I entered onto SR 62 and first responder vehicles were arriving from both directions and shut down the road. Twice I saw a first responder run across the road, up an embankment and into the area of an abandoned golf course. To me, they were looking for something.”
Then the witness and two other vehicles were allowed to proceed.
“What was surprising to me, was that the vehicles looked like fire trucks, but were more like large, all-terrain vehicles. Also, when I passed this pass-through area, there was no auto accident scene, no sign of fire, nor injured parties. Also no ambulance or stretchers. No police were there. This was just a few minutes after the object slowly disappeared/faded out.”

New Albany is a city in Floyd County, Indiana, population 36,372.
Indiana has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. Indiana had 7 UFO reports that occurred during November 2014 – calculated at 1.07 sightings per million population.
The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels – 1 through 5 – where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 – 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 – 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 – 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.

These are the best UFO videos of 2014, and most remain unidentified.
Top 10 lists are very subjective. I wonder if I am the first author to start a top 10 list admitting that. UFO video identification can often also be subjective. However, it is this author’s opinion that many of the following videos remain mysteries. Those that were identified either made a large impact, or were just cool lookin’.
This list is in no particular order. I do not necessarily feel that any are better than the other. But they are all very interesting. Every year I almost dread putting together the year in review story. I think, “Wow, not much happened that was that interesting. Am I going to be able to come up with a decent list?” Sure enough, every year I am pleasantly surprised by all of the great news that was covered over the last year. I think a lot of these cases are great, and hopefully you do too.
UFO appears during TV coverage of Hong Kong protests
This video was captured on TV by a man in Scotland. He was watching BBC news, and when they showed video of riot in Hong Kong in September, he noticed a strange light in the sky. The witness believed the UFO landed on the top of a skyscraper before shooting off. I am not so sure about that. It looks like it may be closer. Our experts agreed. However, they both thought it could be a drone. I also am not so sure about that. The object shoots out of site very quickly. Take a look and let us know what you think.
“See-through” triangle UFO caught on video using night vision
To me, this is an example of the cool stuff people are getting on video using night vision equipment. The man who caught this video has spent a lifetime in the military and is currently a close combat instructor. He says he likes to take his night vision equipment and go out and search for UFOs. One night in September he caught this great video. He says it made no sound, and given his military background, he says he is certain this is not a conventional aircraft.
Our experts had opposing views on this one. One thought it was likely a refueling operation. The lights on the plane could not be seen with the naked eye, so this expert says the planes were likely in covert mode with just their infrared lights on. Others have argued that such an operation is dangerous and would not be conducted over a populated area, such as the area where the video was taken. We posted some pictures of refueling operations in the story. I am not convinced of the refueling explanation. Take a look and see what you think.
Unfortunately, the video for this story has been taken down by the local news station. However, the details of the story and a screen capture of the UFO are still in the story. This event took place in August in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania. Resident Stephanie Wilkerson says she was enjoying a glass of wine when she spotted a strange light. She says her husband and neighbor also saw the light. She eventually called the police and the officers who came to investigate also saw the UFOs.

Radio DJ captures UFO on video in Amarillo
This story did not get a lot of attention, but it is still interesting. A radio host for KISS FM in Amarillo, Texas says he was out one night in August when he saw a bunch of people pulled over on the side of the road. He noticed they were watching a blue light in the sky, so he stopped to take a look and captured a video.

This is actually an identified object, at least in my humble opinion. However, the video is really cool. A news agency in Western Canada was filming a fire when in the background an object came shooting out of the clouds. It flies through the clouds and out of sight. It is most likely a meteor, but it is one of the better daytime meteor shots, I think.
Triangle UFO on Michigan video might be stealth aircraft
This is yet another triangular object caught on video using night vision equipment. A group of UFO hunters in Michigan were out looking for UFOs in November when they caught this on video. They caught other objects they thought to be UFOs as well, but I did not find them as interesting as the strange triangle.
This is the case of a news reporter going out and investigating a UFO sighting, and then seeing it himself. This year there have been an abundance of UFO sightings in Colorado and Utah. They are often described as “shiny, white, tiny dots” floating in the sky. 9News in Denver went to check out some of the reports from the ski town of Breckenridge. Their reporter says he then had his own sighting. Many have decided that what people are seeing are balloons, but the reporter says the objects are seen for long periods of time and then with a flash, they would fly out of sight.

UFO videos over Toronto cause online furor
One weekend in July, many residents in Toronto reported seeing UFOs. Many of the witnesses turned to social media to post their photos and videos, and a local constable even got in on the twitter conversation. The constable says he saw the UFO as well, but thought it was a quadcopter. Others disagree. Below is one of the more bizarre videos. The video is rather odd. Check out the link to the story for other videos and pictures.
Homeland Security camera records two UFOs in Puerto Rico
There is little information provided for this video, but it was allegedly taken by officers working for Homeland Security in Puerto Rico. The person who posted it says it was captured in April of 2013, but the video was released in June of this year. I have heard from other researchers who are taking a closer look, but they are not ready to release any information yet. However, they agree that this video is a head scratcher.
This last video is great, and very bizarre. It is unique in that it is daytime video, and it apparently shows a solid object floating in the air above some docks. The video was captured in April by a man who says he was filming a boat in a canal when he spotted the object. The video was captured in the town of Maassluis, just a few miles south of The Hague, along the Rhine River.
Of course, there were hundreds, if not thousands, of UFOs reported throughout the year. These are just some of my favorites. If you have some favorites that you think I missed, let us know below.
I also decided to list some of the other great stories of the year, just in case you missed some of them:
(N.Morgan) Above Toronto Canada a huge, bright, triangle UFO was spotted whizzing through the night sky. The footage below is rather blurry and the object seems to be moving at a very high rate of speed. I have often wondered if these crafts have some kind of cloaking device that makes it nearly impossible to get a good image of them. The sort of technology the US military utilizes.
Unfortunately, there was no detailed account of this encounter, only a video. The UFO sightings all over the world has increased and the UFOs seem to be getting bolder in allowing us to film them and observe them. If these are alien beings operating these crafts, do these sightings mean they are ready to reveal themselves to us?
An upcoming sci-fi thriller claims to be the first movie to explore the relationships between three different alien species: the insectoids, the reptilians, and the greys.
Versa Media Inc. and AVA Video Productions are the production companies behind The Three. The filmmakers recently released a teaser trailer that highlights twenty-five minutes of the film.
The film’s official synopsis describes:
When Brian LaRue becomes convinced that his father is being visited by extraterrestrials, he takes it upon himself to seek out answers from Jonas Allenbach, a local recluse who claims his son was abducted seventeen years earlier. But as Brian delves deeper into the mysteries surrounding what Jonas refers to as ‘The Three,’ terrifying realizations come to light and Brian must confront the demons of his war-torn past, which just might be exactly what ‘The Three’ desire. ‘The Three’ turns the alien abduction genre on its head with this story of one man’s frightening journey to discover balance and what it really means to be human.
Crowdfunding enabled the film to get to its current point, thanks to a successful campaign on crowdfunding site Indiegogo. But, although the film already has a trailer, the project is still reportedly in its production stage. As horror film news site Dread Central explains, “The film’s producers now plan to tour with these segments and seek additional investment to bring the entirety of the film to life.”

Although this movie is fictional entertainment, some of its content may be based on real alleged alien contact and abduction cases. Andrew Bennett, the film’s co-director, explains, “This is a film that draws on source material regarding abductions and extraterrestrial interaction that people are genuinely terrified about. Kenneth (co-director) and myself are really excited about the web of conspiracy theories that binds this film together.”
There is no published release date for The Three yet. But filmmakers post updates about the project on the movie’s Facebook page.

Video De Europese ruimtevaartorganisatie ESA heeft een video uitgebracht die op een verbluffende manier toont hoe astronauten in het International Space Station (ISS) onze planeet zien. De video bestaat uit foto's van de Duitse astronaut Alexander Gerst.
Tijdens zijn verblijf in het ruimtestation nam Gerst meer dan 12.500 beelden. De Melkweg, het poollicht, verlichte steden tijdens de nacht - allerlei wonderlijke verschijnselen en prachtige zichten die we vanop aarde niet kunnen zien, werden door de Duitser vereeuwigd.
De ESA heeft een deel van die foto's nu samengevoegd in een video. Het resultaat is een reeks verbazende time-lapses, die weergeven hoe surrealistisch de aarde eruitziet vanuit de ruimte.

Onze aandacht is de laatste tijd behoorlijk op Mars gericht, uiteraard ook vanwege de vele vreemde vondsten die daar worden gedaan.
In de tussentijd echter, houdt NASA zich volop bezig met de planeet Venus.
Wanneer er wordt gesproken over een kolonie op een andere planeet dan is het eigenlijk ook altijd Mars dat wordt genoemd. Venus komt eigenlijk niet in het hoofdstuk voor vanwege oppervlaktetemperaturen van rond de 500 graden Celsius en een luchtdruk van maar liefst 92 bar. Condities waar wij als aardlingen niet echt mee om kunnen gaan.
Wanneer je het oppervlak van de planeet negeert en je concentreert op de atmosfeer die deze planeet heeft dan verandert de setting ineens drastisch.
Venus is een terrestrische planeet en heeft ongeveer dezelfde grootte, massa en samenstelling als de Aarde. Venus heeft de dichtste atmosfeer van alle lichamen in het zonnestelsel. Die bestaat voornamelijk uit koolstofdioxide. Een dikke laag wolken van zwavelzuur omringt de planeet zodat het oppervlak vanuit de ruimte niet te zien is. De dikke atmosfeer vormt een sterk isolerende laag die voor een extreem sterk broeikaseffect zorgt.
Op 50 kilometer boven het oppervlak van Venus zijn de condities voor mensen heel wat aangenamer. De luchtdruk is acceptabel en de zwaartekracht op die hoogte is slechts iets minder dan op aarde. De temperatuur op die hoogte is “slechts” 75 graden Celsius. Dit is maar 17 graden hoger dan de hoogste temperatuur ooit op aarde gemeten.
Dus, zijn ze bij het NASA Research Centre aan de slag gegaan en het volgende is waar ze mee komen. Gigantisch grote luchtschepen in de vorm van de klassieke sigaar, maar ook bolvormige, waaronder de woonunits hangen.
Venus heeft nog een aantal voordelen ten opzichte van Mars en dat is dat het beschikt over veel meer zonne-energie en vanwege de atmosfeer aardig beschermd is tegen straling. Iets waar op Mars wel sprake van is, ongeveer 40 keer hoger dan de veilige norm, waardoor vroegere en huidige beschavingen gedwongen worden om ondergronds te wonen.
Er is nog een voordeel en dat is dat de afstand tussen de Aarde en Venus aanzienlijk korter is dan die naar Mars. Deze varieert altijd, afhankelijk van de positie van de planeten rond de zon, maar voor Mars ligt die tussen de 60 en 380 miljoen kilometer, terwijl Venus in het gunstigste geval slechts op 42 miljoen kilometer afstand ligt.
In de onderstaande video kun je precies zien hoe een dergelijk luchtschip in de atmosfeer van Venus terechtkomt. Het zijn nu nog niet meer dan plannen, maar misschien zijn er sneller mensen op Venus dan je denkt.
Of, ze zijn er al natuurlijk, net zoals op Mars. NASA heeft tenslotte twee ruimteprogramma's. De ene voor het publiek en de tweede een geheim ruimteprogramma voor de elite.
