Latest UFO activity over Pampanga, Philippines – Many witnesses!
There are a lot of UFO reports coming from Pampanga, a province of the Philippines in the Central Luzon region, these days. Apparantly, there was a mass sighting that happened on Sunday, 26th April 2015.

Netizens have posted videos and photos of dancing lights taken from Lubao Diversion Road in Pampanga, Philippines. One of the videos was posted on April 26, which shows fiery lights hovering in the sky. Paolo Gallardo, the one who posted the video,said that the lights were up there for around 5 to 6 minutes. Gallardo also posted a photo of the location where they saw the dancing lights. The area has no mountains and no buildings. According to Gallardo, the lights were really in the sky, floating.
In his detailed report, Paolo said that it was his cousin Patrick Gallardowho saw the mysterious aerial object first.
Another online citizen, Jojo Dimagiba, posted a video of the same dancing lights but mentioned he had taken it along SCTEX.
There are also several photos of the strange lights posted online. JhicDe Guzman Dimagiba posted one picture with acaption saying that the camera was on aperture priority that caused downward streaks of light. Still, similar light patterns shown in the two videos can be observed.
Michael Francis Mendoza stated that a friend from Pampanga also posted a photo of dancing lights.
Some netizens suspect a UFO sighting while others say it might just be a convergence of fireflies. There are others who joke about it saying it’s the Avengers coming, or extraterrestrial just contacted home.
This isn’t the first time a UFO sighting is reported in Pampanga. In 2000, a mysterious light was spotted dancing in the sky for around 5 hours over the towns of Angeles and Mabalacat.

De inwoners van de Amerikaanse stad San Diego in Californië keken afgelopen dinsdag verbijsterd naar de lucht.
Daar verscheen een hele serie vreemde meerkleurige flitsende lichten aan de hemel.
De foto werd door een inwoner Larry Fox naar het lokale NBC televisiekanaal gestuurd en hij omschreef de lichten als een soort stroboscooplichten in de kleuren rood, blauw en groen.
De lichten bewogen niet, maar bleven op één bepaalde plek in de lucht hangen.
Het werd niet alleen opgemerkt door Larry Fox, maar werd waargenomen door talloze mensen, waaronder een filmploeg van NBC die de opname hieronder maakte.
Er werd door de zender ABC23 uit Bakersfield, eveneens in Californië, contact opgenomen met NBC om hen te vertellen dat ze in Bakersfield ook continue vreemde dingen in de lucht waarnemen. Deze gebeurtenissen zijn door ons uitgebreid beschreven in een eerder artikel.
NBC heeft contact opgenomen met het leger, maar die zegt van niets te weten.
Ook San Diego kent een lange historie van UFO waarnemingen. Hieronder volgt er één uit 1957 die is afgehandeld door het leger.
Eén van de marinepiloten nam het volgende waar boven Point Loma: “Het object hield een tien mijl scheiding aan met het vliegtuig dat het achtervolgde, ondanks dat diverse keren bewust de snelheid drastisch werd veranderd. Het object kruiste het pad van het achtervolgende vliegtuig met naar schatting van de piloot snelheden groter dan 1.000 mijl per uur totdat het uit het zicht verdween”. Conclusie van het leger: Waarschijnlijk een ballon.

A UFO expert from Hastings will be starring in a new documentary series later this year.
Malcolm Robinson, who lives in the Old Town, has just returned from his native Scotland after filming with Channel 5 for the 12-part series.
He set off from Hastings on March 25 after Channel 5 contacted him.

The series will look at revisionist history and showcase the detailed work undertaken by historians and investigators, both amateur and professional in re-examining and questioning accepted historical events, such as the Cold War, the Space Race, UFOs and more.
The programme looks at conspiracies and why they play such a big role in people’s accepted beliefs.
Malcolm, whose day job is selling adverts for the Observer Series at Woods House in Telford Road, St Leonards, was filmed discussing his research on one of Scotland’s biggest UFO cases, the Livingston event of 1979 where a forestry worker was attacked by two small sea-mine like devices that came out of a hovering domed shaped craft.
Malcolm said: “It was fun filming in the woods and I felt the interview went well although working with television companies as I have done over the years, your concern is how you come across and what bits they use.
“It was two days’ filming and my segment will only be around 15 minutes long.”
Malcolm has been researching the paranormal all his adult life and has become a highly respected authority in the weird and wonderful world of the paranormal.
The alien enthusiast is a regular on the paranormal lecture circuit and was once hired by Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg to help look for the Loch Ness Monster.
Hastings’ real-life Fox Mulder from the cult series, The X-Files, has given talks and lectures on the paranormal and unexplained around the world, as well as the UK, and appeared on several shows at home and abroad.
Malcolm is also the author of three books, UFO Case Files of Scotland (Volumes 1 & 2) and Paranormal Case Files of Great Britain (Volume 1).
His fourth book, The Monsters of Loch Ness, will be out later this year. Malcolm added: “I’m so pleased to have completed my book on the Monsters of Loch Ness as this was one of my life’s ambitions to get this book done.”

People in the UFO and conspiracy theory communities often claim that the government keeps them under surveillance. The debate has come more sharply into focus recently, following revelations from NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, and the resultant media storm over bugging, interception of communications, and the secret state more generally.
But is there any truth in this? Has the Ministry of Defence ever kept tabs on ufologists? Well, actually – yes! There were three strands to this, and I have direct knowledge and experience of all of them, from my time on the MoD’s UFO project.
The first strand was the understandable need to check out ufologists who were taking a close interest in military bases. It wasn’t inconceivable that someone could use ufology as a cover for terrorism or espionage-related activity, perhaps embedding themselves within a UFO organisation. If someone was caught taking long-lens photos of a military base, but claimed their only interest was in checking out rumours that crashed UFOs or alien bodies were being kept there, what were we to do? Say, “Oh, that’s all right then”, and let them go, or check them out? The latter, obviously. More than one well-known ufologist has fallen foul of the Ministry of Defence Police around bases rumoured to have a UFO connection, such as RAF Rudloe Manor in Wiltshire.
The second reason for monitoring the activity of ufologists had to do with the fact that the UFO community takes a close interest in secret prototype aircraft and drones – sightings of which sometimes generate UFO reports. There were particular concerns if, for example, ufologists claimed to have leaked copies of classified documents. Clearly such claims couldn’t be ignored, and needed to be investigated. My way of keeping an eye on all this was to subscribe (using a dummy name and a PO Box) to various UFO magazines and publications. It wasn’t quite as obvious as “Mr John Smith, PO Box 007, Whitehall”, and I think we got away with it, until the recently- completed declassification and release of the MoD’s UFO files, when the truth emerged. But the mainstream media either missed or ignored the story. In parallel with this, before my face became known, I attended some UFO conferences covertly, and submitted reports back to the MoD’s Defence Intelligence Staff. At least one such report has now been declassified and released, but again, the media somehow missed the significance of this.
The final strand of this official surveillance was the most low-tech, and simply involved my reaching out to various UFO organisations and individual researchers, asking them to send me material that might help us make a better determination of what we might be dealing with, in relation to the UFO phenomenon. This seemed a sensible way to gain a fuller understanding of what data might be out there, and there was nothing particularly underhand about this. It often involved arranging lunches with ufologists, or asking them to send in case files so that I could take a look. People were generally thrilled and flattered that the MoD was taking an interest in their work, and I hardly ever had any problems getting what I wanted. There was seldom any fallout, though on one occasion I recall a huge row breaking out within the ranks of the British UFO Research Association, when somebody found out that one of their key officials had sent their alien abduction case files to the MoD!
Does such surveillance continue, now that the MoD’s UFO project has been axed? And does such monitoring go beyond ufology, into the wider conspiracy theory and alternative belief community? Now that I’m out of government, I don’t know. And if I did know, I probably wouldn’t be able to say so.

US Navy invents bulletproof glass from clay that could revolutionise screens and lenses
Researchers at the US Naval Research Laboratory have invented Spinel - a new bulletproof transparent material far more durable than glass(US Naval Research Laboratory)
The US Navy has invented a type of transparent material that is far more durable than glass and could revolutionise smartphone screens, laptop screens and camera lenses to make them more rugged.
The material, known as Spinel, is made from a special type of synthetic powdered clay and is bulletproof. The US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has been researching it for the past 10 years.
"Spinel is actually a mineral, it's magnesium aluminate," said Dr Jas Sanghera, who led the research. "The advantage is it's so much tougher, stronger, harder than glass. It provides better protection in more hostile environments — so it can withstand sand and rain erosion."
Spinel can also be moulded into virtually any shape you like and unlike conventional bulletproof glass, which is created by combining alternate layers of plastic sheeting and glass together, Spinel does not block the infrared wavelength of light.
This means the material is suitable for use on camera lenses, for example, a camera carried by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), as well as smartphone screens or even for head-mounted face shields.

NRL developed a new technique for making transparent Spinel using a process called sintering, which is commonly used in 3D printing, whereby a layer of crystal particles are pressed together. Since this is different from the way glass is made, if the Spinel is subjected to damage, it will only chip, as the crack is deflected by the hard crystals in the material.
The researchers found a press was more effective than using a crucible, as when materials are melted at a very high temperature to create the crystals, the molten material reacts with the crucible, causing materials with a large amount of defects.
The researchers hope the material can be applied to protect naval technology, such as the windows on its laser weapons, like its portable anti-drone laser system. Spinel would also work well as a transparent armour for military vehicles and even as a protection for sensors on space satellites.
The technology has been licensed to a company that has been able to make Spinel in larger quantities to suit any application and the NRL now plans to share its production method with the rest of the US defence industry.
"You could leave these out there for longer periods of time, go into environments that are harsher than what they're encountering now, and enable more capabilities," said Sanghera. "It's a game-changing technology."
Affordable Star Trek-like transparent aluminum could protect phones, windows, and lenses
Researchers at the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) have announced a breakthrough in the construction of spinel, also known as transparent aluminum. The substance is named after an iconic scene in Star Trek, in which Enterprise’s Chief Engineer hands over the chemical formula for an advanced 23rd-century building material to a manufacturing company in 1980s San Francisco.
Spinel — chemical formula MgAl2O4 is an extremely hard, durable substance with a Mohs Scale rating of 8.0. Sapphire glass, which we’ve previously discussed, has a Mohs rating of 9, just below diamond, with its rating of 10. Spinel’s refractive index can be lower than sapphire’s, depending on the exact characteristics of the material — a trait which could make it better than sapphire for screens.
“Spinel is actually a mineral, it’s magnesium aluminate,” says Dr. Jas Sanghera, who leads the research. “The advantage is it’s so much tougher, stronger, harder than glass. It provides better protection in more hostile environments — so it can withstand sand and rain erosion.” As a more durable material, a thinner layer of spinel can give better performance than glass. “For weight-sensitive platforms — UAVs [unmanned autonomous vehicles], head-mounted face shields — it’s a game-changing technology.”
Up until now, the research that’s gone into spinels has relied on small-scale manufacturing that could build pieces up to eight inches in diameter. That’s more than large enough for testing applications, but it’s not nearly large enough for many of the most useful test cases. The NRL team thinks transparent aluminum could have military applications, since spinel is transparent to infrared light. It could also be used in hostile environments like deserts and oceans, where the environmental conditions are extremely hard on modern glass.
According to the NRL, they’ve already worked with one unnamed company to extend manufacturing from 8-inch test wafers to 30-inch plates. They also discovered it’s possible to shape the material while it forms. This opens the door to using spinel as a shield for the leading edge of a plane wing or as part of a drone. Bulletproof glass is another possibility — current bulletproof glass is up to five inches thick and made from layers of both plastic and glass. Using spinel could drastically reduce the size and weight of the shielding while providing equivalent protection.
Obviously such announcements must be taken with a grain of salt. Sapphire glass was supposed to be the Next Big Thing, and while it’s true that you can buy at least one phone that sports a sapphire screen (a Kyocera model), sapphire hasn’t taken over the market the way some originally predicted. Instead, Apple’s sapphire supplier went out of business amid allegations of poor treatment and bad blood.
I wouldn’t look for spinel to be adopted by the smartphone industry in the near-term future. But if military and industrial applications prove themselves, we may see more corporations adopting the material for consumer devices in 5-10 years.

Het Amerikaanse leger ziet voor het materiaal vooral toepassingen waarbij Spinel zou kunnen worden gebruikt in laser-wapens of als bescherming voor de sensoren van ruimte-satellieten. Ook kan het materiaal worden toegepast om militaire voertuigen beter te beveiligen. (mah)
Are the "Roswell Slides" a 20th Anniversary Commemoration of the Santilli "Alien Autopsy" Hoax?
Is it possible that the now-famous Roswell Slides, set to be publicly unveiled very soon on Cinco de Mayo in Mexico City, are a hoax intended to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the infamous Ray Santilli Alien Autopsy hoax, possibly even by the same people who created the Santilli alien? The slides are to be publicly revealed in a big shindig in Mexico City on May 5, sponsored by the Mexican UFO fabulist Jaime Maussan, who has a long history of promoting bogus photos of UFOs and supposed alien creatures.This is the exact twentieth anniversary of when the Santilli hoax video was first publicly shown, a fact that has not gone unnoticed.
The 1995 "Alien Autopsy" video of Ray Santilli, now an admitted hoax, but one that made large sums ofmoney for its perpetrators.
This "innocent scenario" is beginning to look increasingly unlikely. On April 29 , the French skeptic Gilles Fernandez wrote a Blog entry titled "What if? The Roswell Slides Saga as a Social Experiment or a Hoax of some sort?" In it he pointed out some obvious problems in the scenario we are given by Dew and the other slide promoters. One of the slides in the collection, supposedly in a slide frame that was only used in the 1940s, shows an automobile that was not manufactured until 1958. And the photos, also from the 1940s that are supposed to show Bernard and Hilda Ray, show individuals who are obviously decades older than the Rays would have been at that time. Some slides in the collection are compared to genuine 1940s Kodachrome slides, and the differences are obvious. Fernandez asks whether it is possible that "the set of the 400 slides was put together from various sources, maybe even from eBuyers or physical markets, and a story was concocted, and the two slides were inserted?
UFO researcher George Wingfield has even stronger reservations. Back in 1995, he wrote a piece in the British publication Flying Saucer Review accusing three men of hoaxing the yet-unconfessed Santilli alien autopsy video: John Lundberg, Robert Irving, and, and Rod Dickinson, based on their involvement with Ray Santilli, their experience in producing special effects, and their reputation as Crop Circle makers. In that Flying Saucer review article Wingfield wrote that "The alien is, of course, called HILDA, which, in case you hadn't guessed, stands for Hoaxed Irving-Lundberg-Dickinson Alien." In 1995, RAY Santilli's hoaxed alien is satirically named HILDA - and now we have HILDA RAY. It seems as if the hoaxers may have signed their work, as an inside joke.
the “Roswell Alien Slides” were produced in a similar manner and supplied to targeted individuals likely to take the bait. If that’s right, the #1 suspects are John Lundberg and Rob Irving. Both of them were in California in December 2013 where they were commissioned to make a huge elaborate crop circle near Chualar, CA, for Nvidia who wanted to publicize their ultrafast Tegra microchip.
Wingfield concluded,
Apart from their work behind and in front of the camera, Lundberg and Dickinson were the experts who made foam latex dummies for a TV series on UK's Channel 4 back then called "Crapston Villas". If Lundberg and Irving have been up to their tricks again on this 20th anniversary of Santilli’s alien autopsy hoax, it seems very likely they may have been the creators of the “Roswell Alien Slides”.
John Lundberg is now well-known as one of the Crop Circle makers at circlemakers.org. He is also the director of the documentary film Mirage Men. Based on the book of the same name by Mark Pilkington, it is a look at the purported role of government-sponsored disinformation in shaping the UFO phenomenon. I wrote to Lundberg asking for his comments on this. He might have replied something like, "I had nothing to do with either the Santilli Alien, or the Roswell Slides." Instead, he chose to reply in poetic and evasive terms, which I read as acknowledging that he was involved in those matters, but was unwilling to say so publicly. But one never knows what is to be taken seriously when dealing with Mirage Men.
If the Roswell Slides are indeed a hoax as is here suggested, it is certainly the most elaborate and sophisticated hoax since, well, the Santilli Alien Autopsy of twenty years ago. It almost feels like an act of art vandalism to betray their secrets.

A prominent person in Roswell recently died. He was buried before a lot of people even knew he was gone.
Glenn Dennis said he was one of the witnesses of the 1947 UFO crash near Roswell. He passed away on Tuesday and was laid to rest sometime this week.
While Dennis’ family has chosen not to come forward with the details of his death, KOB took a look back at his legacy.
He was a founder of Roswell's famous UFO Museum.
His claim to fame? He claims someone called him about needing sealed caskets.
At the time, he was working at Ballard Funeral home. He also claims a nurse confided in him about seeing alien bodies.
Over the years, his stories have been featured in several books written about the UFO crash.
In early 1990, he and Lieutenant Walter Haut got together with realtor Max Littell to form the UFO Museum.
"Of course most of us thought to ourselves, 'why would you do that?'” said former Roswell Mayor Bill Owen. “How many people could ever have an interest in coming to where Roswell is to see a UFO museum?"
Owen was on city council when the museum was founded.
He says Dennis had a vision for the museum, believing it would be a success even when others doubted it.
"They certainly had the foresight and the dedication and the dream to make this museum happen, and of course they did. Roswell is the beneficiary of their early work and their early desire to see something made of this incident," said Owen.
Now the UFO Museum sees 180,000 visitors every year from around the world and has sparked the city’s tourism industry.
Owen says Dennis contributed to Roswell greatly and will be missed.

'Suicide Spirit' Stalking Lakota Youths?
PINE RIDGE INDIAN RESERVATION, S.D. — A few days before Christmas, Santana Janis, a 12-year-old Lakota Indian, decided that she did not want to live anymore.
A bright, outgoing girl with a shy smile and passion for horseback riding, Santana’s moods had turned dark. She lived in a derelict two-bedroom trailer with a grandfather, Earl Tall, and as many as a dozen siblings and cousins. Her mother, an alcoholic, was an intermittent presence in her life. Their town, Manderson, was torn by drinking, fighting and violence.
Mr. Tall overheard his granddaughter’s talk of suicide and called her other grandfather, Keith Janis, who immediately drove 40 miles to see her. “I sat down with her and said, ‘Please, promise Grandpa you’ll never do that,’ ” Mr. Janis recalled last week. “She gave me that big, beautiful smile of hers and said, ‘O.K., Grandpa, O.K.’ ”
Six weeks later, Santana hanged herself in a small, unheated building next to the trailer.
Since December, the Pine Ridge reservation, a vast, windswept land of stunning grasslands and dusty plateaus, has been the scene of an unfolding crisis: nine people between the ages of 12 and 24 have committed suicide here.
Several officials with knowledge of the cases said that at least one of the youths who committed suicide was influenced by Slender Man, a tall, faceless creature who appears in storytelling websites, often as a figure who stalks and kills victims. Two girls in a Milwaukee suburb last summer said the character had inspired them in the attempted murder of a classmate.

The Very Serious Business of Figuring Out How Earth Will Handle First Contact with Aliens

But, why aren’t there any clear photos of Bigfoot?
Because Bigfoot has a cloaking capability. It can be visible or invisible, if and when it wants.
OK, but why hasn’t anyone found bones or fossils?
Because Bigfoot is interdimensional — it lives in another dimension, but sometimes comes to ours.
That’s ridiculous, how would Bigfoot cross dimensions?
Easy. Portals. Portals guarded by furry creatures with glowing eyes.
Right, So why hasn’t anyone taken a photo of a portal?
Duh, because portals only appear at night and disappear when exposed to light.
This according to researchers at the Bigfoot Habituation Research Conference April 24-26 at the Baymont Inn and Suites in Bremerton.
The conference was attended by over 100 people and featured over a dozen speakers, including Bob Gimlin of the famous Patterson-Gimlin Film. The 1967 film supposedly captures Bigfoot walking in Bluff Creek, California.
Gimlin, 84, kicked off the conference by recounting his tale of Bigfoot and then posed for pictures and flirted with female fans.
“I’m honored to get all of this,” Gimlin said of the attention.
The conference was led and organized by Matthew “Dr. J” Johnson, a 53-year-old psychologist from Puyallup who’s been “Bigfooting” since his first encounter in 2000.
At 6-feet 9-inches tall and 300 pounds, Dr. J is a mammoth of a man. Throw on a Chewbacca costume and he might be Bigfoot.
He’s been championing the habituation Bigfooting, a passive, Jane Goodall-style approach to finding the mythical creatures, for several years now.
Dr. J shocked many in attendance when he told a story explaining why Bigfoot is so elusive. In short, he said Bigfoot is an interdimensional being that travels through portals (like this) which are guarded by short, furry creatures with glowing red eyes, and then once Bigfoot is in our dimension it has the ability to cloak itself, rendering it invisible.
One night, a Bigfoot even spoke to Dr. J in a dream.
“The adolescent male (Bigfoot) says ‘It’s OK, that’s just a portal and those are two guardians who are making sure you guys don’t go into the portal, so they’re scaring you away,’” Dr. J said.
“Portals are real, ladies and gentlemen, I’m not making this crap up.”
At least one local Bigfooter found Dr. J’s story dubious.
“I don’t go in for the cloaking and interdimensional stuff,” said Patrick Cooper. “I’m only interested in the physical nature of Sasquatch.” -Bremerton Patriot

Hey guys, last week I found the photos of the UFOs that were HD quality and 100% focused. NASA has deleted their location two other times and moved them to a new unknown location. They do this to protect themselves in a court of law. “We didn’t delete it, just moved it to a new location,” is what they would say to the judge to get the case dismissed. Well I found it for a third time. It was a little harder this time, but got them all.
Many people call these the Dark Knight Satellites, maybe they are, but regardless…they are UFOs. They are of alien construction.
I also got into the original site, but not using a hack. Originally it was open to the public, but now it either locks out all foreigners outside of USA or it locks out all non NASA people. Odd…I tried it today and it let me in normal. Either way, I got into it again. It has about 1.7 GB of photos on that site, and only about 20mb are visible. Sure wish I could look at them all. In recent days, NASA has discovered eight asteroids that might pose a threat to Earth. The space project NEOWISE discovered about 40 objects that have come close to Earth between 2013 and 2014. Doel is het huidige duurrecord van 54 dagen voor een dergelijk ballon te overtreffen. De wetenschappers willen bewijzen dat reusachtige ballons zelfs 100 dagen lang actief kunnen zijn. Dat zei de verantwoordelijke van het Nasa ballonprogramma, Debbie Fairbrother.
Het pompoenachtige omhulsel is zo groot dat er een heel voetbalstadion in zou passen, aldus de Nasa. De technologie is een relatief prijswaardig alternatief om nieuwe instrumenten voor de ruimtevaart aan de rand van het heelal te testen. Nadat hij is opgestegen vanop het vliegveld in Wanaka op het Zuidereiland, beweegt de ballon zich in oostelijke richting voort. De landing is op een nog niet nader genoemde plaats in Zuid-Amerika gepland. In het Zuidelijk Halfrond is de ballon bij zonsopgang en -ondergang mogelijk op vele plaatsen te zien, bijvoorbeeld in Argentinië of Zuid-Afrika.
SterrenkundeDe NASA-sonde Messenger is vandaag zoals gepland neergestort op Mercurius, na een missie van 11 jaar naar de planeet die het dichtst bij de zon staat.
Het Amerikaanse ruimtevaartbureau bevestigt dat de sonde is neergestort om 21.26 uur Belgische tijd, nadat het tuig al zijn brandstof had opgebruikt. Het neerstorten gebeurde aan een snelheid van zo'n 14.000 kilometer per uur, waarbij een krater werd geslagen. "Het is geëindigd met een knal, toen de oppervlakte van Mercurius werd bereikt. We vieren Messenger als een meer dan succesvolle missie", verklaarde John Grunsfeld, co-bestuurder voor ruimtemissies bij NASA.
Hij wees erop dat de missie wetenschappers nog lang zal bezighouden, omdat er de voorbije jaren meer dan 250.000 foto's zijn gemaakt en vele gegevens verzameld, die nu nog geanalyseerd moeten worden. Zo bracht de sonde daarvoor nooit geziene regio's in kaart.
De onbemande sonde Messenger ging in augustus 2004 de ruimte in. Ze cirkelt al vier jaar rond de hete gesteenteplaneet. De belangrijkste ontdekking bevestigde de reeds lang aangehouden hypothese dat de kleinste planeet van ons zonnestelsel ter hoogte van haar polen grote hoeveelheden bevroren water heeft. Messenger leerde zodoende ook meer over het ontstaan van de Aarde en waar water plus organische materialen vandaan komen, zegt de NASA.
De sonde was het eerste ruimtetuig om rond Mercurius te wentelen sinds de Mariner-10 van de NASA er in 1974 en 1975 rond cirkelde.
US President Reagan is said to have met extraterrestrials
Most Americans assumed he was joking.
"I come in peace," said President Barack Obama in March, 2012, after landing at Roswell, New Mexico, the infamous site of an alleged extraterrestrial spaceship crash landing.
Asked about the alien bodies reportedly recovered from the wreckage he added: "If I told you I would have to kill you... we're going to keep our secrets here."
But a controversial new book The Presidents And UFOs: A Secret History From FDR To Obama claims that a number of US leaders have known of evidence proving that aliens have visited Earth leaving spaceship debris, the occasional alien corpse and thousands of UFO sightings.
"Headquarters has come to the determination that the mystery airplanes are in fact not earthly and according to secret intelligence sources that are in all probability of interplanetary origin," wrote US Army chief of staff general George C Marshall to president Franklin D Roosevelt in March 1942, according to a recently leaked memo.
President Roosevelt replied urging the "finding of practical uses for the atomic secrets learned from the study of celestial devices".
And in another memo Roosevelt wrote of "coming to grips with the reality that our planet is not the only one harbouring intelligent life in the universe".
He added: "We will take every advantage of such wonders that have come to us."
The secret memos, whose authenticity is fiercely debated, are part of a mountain of evidence uncovered by the new book's author Larry Holcombe.
"UFOs exist and extraterrestrial life has visited Earth," says Holcombe, 71.
"The accumulation of evidence is so great that no reasonable person can any longer deny their existence."
Millions have long suspected that not all UFOs could be explained away as experimental aircraft and weather balloons.
The US's Area 51 Air Force base in Nevada is rumoured to hide alien corpses and their spaceships as depicted in movie Independence Day.
Many believe there is a secret President's book handed to each new incumbent of the Oval Office revealing the existence of aliens, just like the one in the film National Treasure 2.
The US even seems to be moving towards publicly acknowledging the existence of alien life.
Nasa has restructured its research to look for other solar systems, emerging worlds and alien life.
And the space agency's chief scientist Dr Ellen Stofan recently said that she believes "strong indications" of extraterrestrial life will be discovered within a decade.
Holcombe says that two past US presidents claimed to have had close encounters with aliens and that Ronald Reagan had two encounters and even became president thanks to advice from an extra terrestrial.
Actresses Lucille Ball and Shirley MacLaine, who partied with actor Reagan on the night of his first alien encounter, claimed that the future president insisted that his road to the party had been initially blocked by a UFO.
An alien came up to his car and told him: "Leave acting and go into politics."
Later, as governor of California in 1974, Reagan saw a strange moving light from the window of his private jet and ordered his pilot to follow it.
"To our utter amazement it went straight up into the heavens," Reagan is said to have recalled.
Reagan even spoke of a possible alien invasion in 1987, adding: "I ask, is not an alien force already among us?"
Before becoming president Jimmy Carter is said to have witnessed a bright green light in the sky fly towards him in 1969.
It changed colour to blue, then red, then white before racing away.
"It didn't have any solid substance to it," said a mystified Carter, who filed a UFO report.
But all presidents were given ample evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life and told to keep it secret rather than scare an anxious public, claims the book.
President Harry S Truman drew a veil of secrecy over the 1947 alien spaceship crash near Roswell, New Mexico, and the alleged crash of a second alien craft almost simultaneously about 140 miles away on the San Agustin Plains.
Truman had supposedly created the "Majestic 12" in 1942: a secret committee of scientists and military to cover up extraterrestrial activities.
Late in the Second World War Dwight D Eisenhower met with Winston Churchill to discuss an RAF reconnaissance aircraft's close encounter with a UFO near the English coastline.

Churchill reportedly told Eisenhower: "This event should be immediately classified as it would create mass panic amongst the general population and destroy one's belief in the Church."
When president, Eisenhower is even rumoured to have had a summit meeting with aliens.
"It's veiled in secrecy but a number of reliable sources claim that he flew to Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico to meet with extraterrestrials in 1955," says Holcombe.
Presidents hid possible alien encounters from Americans after the war but as the CIA grew in power it took over alien investigations and cover-ups, claims the author.
"There's been a government coverup but since the 1960s there's been a cover-up to keep presidents in the dark as well," says Holcombe.
"Extraterrestrial investigations in the US are controlled by a powerful and secretive scientific and military-intelligence committee answerable to no one.
"President John F Kennedy demanded that the CIA hand over secret files and every president since has wished he knew more.
"President Bill Clinton has said he tried to get UFO information and it was withheld from him.
"Kennedy's pushing for UFO information may have been behind his assassination in 1963.
"Kennedy wanted to share alien technology with the Soviets and there were powerful people who refused to let that happen."
President Richard Nixon authorised a UFO documentary using secret footage of an alien craft landing during his re-election campaign in 1972 but the project was axed by intelligence chiefs, claims Holcombe.
"Nixon believed that a limited level of UFO disclosure would ensure his place in history," he adds.
While running for office Gerald Ford, Carter and Clinton all demanded government openness about UFOs but fell silent once elected to the White House and privy to alien secrets.
Holcombe says he found evidence suggesting that several alien bodies have been studied by the US military and alien technologies copied.
Yet despite recent calls for greater openness about UFO encounters he says: "I don't think Britain or the US is going to admit that alien life has been visiting Earth for some time.
"But they may be forced to admit it if extraterrestrials make their presence known.
"Many laws have been broken to keep this secret.
"It's been the greatest cover-up in the history of mankind.
"But all it takes is one alien spaceship over London or Washington DC and the world will never be the same again."
