The UFO phenomena is real: shocking comments of highly ranked individuals confirm Extraterrestrials exist.
If you read a bit about the UFO phenomena you will notices that there is a shocking number of comments from highly classified people regarding alien technology and life elsewhere in the cosmos.
Today we have interesting comments from government officials, military personnel, scientists, politicians and astronauts who all seem to agree that life is not limited to Earth. Conspiracy theory or not, the truth is that many people believe that we are not alone in the universe and that the mysterious UFO sightings (which have increased over the years) are not solely the result of secret military technology.
But why are we still surprised when we hear about Alien technology and UFO’s?
“The number of habitable worlds in our galaxy is certainly in the tens of billions, minimum, and we haven’t even talked about the moons. And the number of galaxies we can see, other than our own, is about 100 billion.” – Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer at California’s SETI Institute
The possibility that life exists, elsewhere in the universe is greater than ever. Can we handle the truth?
Perhaps the most shocking comments about Alien life and the UFO phenomena were made by the second director of Lockheed Skunkworks, Ben Rich, a man who oversaw the construction of some of the most advanced military aircrafts in the history of mankind: the stealth fighter and the 17A nighthawk.
According to James Godwell, an aerospace journalist who wrote for several publications like Jane’s Defense Weekly, Aviation Week and Space Technology, and Interavia, during some of his interviews with highly ranked individuals in the military and aerospace industry, some of his contacts said “we have things out there that are literally out of this world, better than Star Trek or what you see in the movies.”
Just before his death, Ben Rich talked about the UFO phenomenon and the truth behind the conspiracy.
“We already have the means to travel among the stars, but these technologies are locked up in black projects, and it would take an act of God to ever get them out to benefit humanity. Anything you can imagine, we already know how to do it.”
“We now have technology to take ET home. No it won’t take someone’s lifetime to do it. There is an error in the equations. We know what it is. We now have the capability to travel to the stars.”
“There are two types of UFOs — the ones we build and the ones ‘they’ build.”
According to statements from James Godwell, he knew Ben Rich very well and he stated that ten days before Ben Rich died, they spoke and Ben Rich opened up about UFO’s.
“About ten days before he died, I was speaking to Ben on the telephone at the USC Medical Center in LA. And he said, ‘Jim, we have things out in the desert that are fifty years beyond what you can comprehend. They have about forty-five hundred people at the Lockheed Skunk works. What have they been doing for the last eighteen or twenty years? They’re building something.’”
According to SETI Institute’s Seth Shostak, with trillions of planets out there, chances are too good to discount the idea that Alien life exists.
“If you extrapolate on the planets they discovered, there are a trillion planets in the galaxy. That’s a lot of places for life,” Shostak said, as quoted by ABC. “We know that the majority of stars have planets,” but what “fraction of stars has planets that are more like the earth? It might be one in five.”
“The chances of finding it I think are good and if that happens it will happen in the next 20 years depending on the financing,” he added in written testimony, according to BuzzFeed.”
According to John Andrews, another Lockheed engineer who had direct communication with Ben Rich, the former director of Lockheed Skunkworks firmly believed in UFO’s, and when asked if he believed in the existence of the mysterious objects Ben Rich responded:
“Yes, I’m a believer in both categories. I feel everything is possible. Many of our man-made UFOs are Un-Funded Opportunities. There are two types of UFOs, the ones we build, and the ones they build.”
“We now know how to travel to the stars. There is an error in the equations, and we have figured it out, and now know how to travel to the stars and it won’t take a lifetime to do it. It is time to end all the secrecy on this, as it no longer poses a national security threat, and make the technology available for use in the private sector. There are many in the intelligence community who would like to see this stay in the black and not see the light of day. We now have the technology to take ET home.”
Bill McDonalds, a forensic illustrator for the aerospace industry, and who was a good friend of John Andrews also talked about Ben Rich and UFO’s:
“It was Ben Rich’s opinion that the public should not be told. He believed they could not handle the truth, ever. Only in the last months of his decline did he begin to feel that the international corporate Board of Directors’ dealing with the ‘Subject’ could represent a bigger problem to citizens’ personal freedoms under the United States Constitution than the presence of off world visitors themselves.”
It seems that after all, it isn’t that hard to believe in the commentaries of astronauts, engineers, government officials and other individuals who have opened up about Alien Life and the UFO phenomena.
The only questions that we need to ask is: Is our society ready for the truth? And how much would life as we know it change, knowing that we have more than one cosmic neighbor?
A piece of space junk will fall back to Earth next month, giving researchers a chance to study how incoming objects behave when they hit the planet’s atmosphere.
The object, which is known as WT1190F, is expected to enter Earth's atmosphere on Nov. 13 above the Indian Ocean, about 62 miles (100 kilometers) south of Sri Lanka. The impending impact poses little risk to people, experts say.
"The object is quite small, at most a couple of meters in diameter, and a significant fraction if not all of it can be expected to completely burn up in the atmosphere," Tim Flohrer, of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Space Debris Office at the European Space Operations Center in Germany, said in a statement. WT1190F's demise should be dramatic to people near the entry site nonetheless, generating a bright fireball in the daytime sky on Nov. 13, ESA officials said.
WT1190F was detected on Oct. 3 by astronomers with the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona, who subsequently realized that they had imaged the object in 2013 as well. The team's observations revealed that WT1190F orbits Earth every three weeks on a highly elliptical path.
Astronomers have also learned that the object is not dense enough to be a rocky body such as an asteroid and is therefore probably a piece of space junk, researchers said.
"This density is in fact compatible with the object being a hollow shell, such as the spent upper stage of a rocket body or part of a stage," Detlef Koschny, who's responsible for near-Earth object (NEO) activities at ESA’s Space Situational Awareness program office, said in the same statement.

Earth is surrounded by an ever-growing cloud of orbital debris that contains at least 20,000 objects larger than a softball, 500,000 bigger than a marble and millions of shreds and shards too small to track, NASA researchers have said.
Astronomers are keeping a close eye on WT1190F, and they'll study its re-entry avidly to get a better idea of what happens when pieces of space junk come crashing back to Earth.
"The first goal will be to better understand the re-entry of satellites and debris from highly eccentric orbits," said Marco Micheli, an astronomer working at ESA's NEO Coordination Center in Italy.
"Second, it provides an ideal opportunity to test our readiness for any possible future atmospheric entry events involving an asteroid, since the components of this scenario, from discovery to impact, are all very similar," Micheli added.

It’s late October and the streets will soon be filled with ghosts, goblins and all kinds of paranormal creatures.
But most millennials probably aren’t aware Clarenville is home to its own supernatural experience some 37 years ago.
Though, according to the movies, kindly government officials dressed in black usually wipe our memories of this sort of thing, they didn’t get to Const. Jim Blackwood and a dozen other locals who happened to bear witness to a strange cigar-shaped aircraft hovering over Random Island in October 1978.
When the 25-year-old Blackwood responded to the call from the group on Marine Drive, he assumed it was a simple case of the b’ys getting into the moonshine and letting their imaginations run wild.
But, what Blackwood ended up seeing made him a minor celebrity and the subject of ridicule on the force, so much so that after leaving Clarenville he rarely spoke of the incident.
“I went down and the craft was hovering between Clarenville and Random Island, right on the water. It was only a couple hundred feet off the water. It was there for good two hours before it left,” the now retired Blackwood told The Packet from his home in Nova Scotia.
“I activated the roof lights of my police car and it activated lights at the same time.”
Chester Lethbridge and his wife were among those gathered on the water. They asked him why he would do such a thing. Blackwood explained he was trying to make contact.
“He said he didn’t want to make contact, and he didn’t want to know what was in there and then took off,” Blackwood said.
Using a special telescope for drug surveillance, the once skeptical Blackwood had an up close view to something he can’t explain to this day.
“Chester (Lethbridge) had binoculars. But this thing was a lot better with 60 times’ magnification. I got to see it close up. It didn’t come any closer to us and as it started to leave it went up slow, taking forever to rise — then vroom — gone like a shooting star,” Blackwood said.
Clarenville became Newfoundland’s own Roswell as UFO fever gripped the town for years to come. The old timers hockey team changed their name to the Clarenville UFOs, the local Holiday Inn had a weekend for two UFO special and local auto dealers held extraterrestrial-themed car sales.
“We didn’t see the thing after that. But we did have a lot of calls prior to that. At that particular time there was a flight from Jordan heading to Toronto that happened to see it and it was picked up by radar in Gander. It was a big issue at the time,” Blackwood said.
Blackwood was driven half crazy getting blitzed with media requests. Predicting the ribbing from fellow officers and friends, he refused to talk at first, but eventually the staff sergeant informed him that the powers that be in St. John’s wanted him to grant all interviews. He ended up spending the next couple weeks talking to every major newspaper and media source across the country.
“For two solid weeks all I did was answer the phone and get paid for it. I was on CBC, NTV and BBC. You name it and I was on it,” Blackwood said.
Blackwood is an aircraft enthusiast with a working knowledge of all kinds of planes. He is confidently convinced the hovering object the size of a Boeing 737, was not something from around here.
“I’m familiar with aircrafts of all shapes and sizes. But the metal on it was not like aircraft metal. It was very dull and not shiny at all. It wasn’t even smooth. It was very coarse looking,” he said.
“The technology was way beyond what we had then and still way beyond what we have now.”
Before the incident, Blackwood was not the type to watch the skies. In the years that followed he didn’t develop any kind of interest in little green men.
“Some people would go right hog wild into them, but I never bothered. It was a once in a lifetime thing,” he said.
After leaving the Clarenville detachment, the years of ribbing, ridicule and “Mork and Mindy” jokes deterred him from mentioning the incident to anyone when returning home to Nova Scotia in the mid 1980s.
The National Research Council in Ottawa had an upper atmosphere research facility responsible for UFO reports.
An NRC agent named A.G. MacNamara responded to the reports saying the planet Jupiter is brilliant in mid-October when near the Mediterranean Sea.
“I tore a strip off him. He had this big explanation, but he didn’t talk to me or talk to any of the other 12 witnesses,” Blackwood said. “He just surmised this on his own. There was this guy doing a paper on it. I told him what I thought of him. How the hell can a planet cast a shadow on the water? How can it come down that close that it can block out Random Island?”
Though he hasn’t brought the topic up voluntarily with anyone in decades, he is still contacted by UFO researchers and enthusiasts. He recently recounted his experience with world-renowned professional ufologist Stanton Friedman, an original civilian investigator of the Roswell incident. The TV series “Close Encounters,” which re-enacts alien encounters, has an episode planned on Blackwood’s experience.
Though the experience garnered him some celebrity, on the whole it caused him more grief than it was worth.
So this Halloween season, if you happen to spy a strange looking object over the water near Random Island, maybe just chalk it up to swamp gas and carry on, or else the men in black might show up at your door.

Way back in September 1977, during the Joint Attack Weapons Systems Test (JAWS) at Fort Benning Georgia, the entire base witnessed what appeared to be a UFO invasion. As much as 1300 troops were involved in this incredible event. Most were left with severe psychological trauma and “missing time” gaps.
Command Sergeant Major James Norton, who is now stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He was a buck sergeant (E-5) at the time when he witnessed an eerie encounter with UFOs and the military on September 14, 1977. He was sent to the range a little just before midnight along with around 1200 to 1300 troops to perform live fire with their new weapons systems called JAWS (Joint Attack Weapons System). The Secretary of the Army at the time was actually at the range too!
Command Sergeant Major James Norton remembers clearly when they started the live fire training when all of a sudden there were large orbs way up high in the night sky above them. The next thing he witnessed was what appeared to be lasers crisscrossing through the night sky. The command of ‘cease fire’ was heard shouted out towards the troops, because there was something down range. Military helicopters appeared suddenly out of nowhere. Explosions were then heard, complete madness had broken out around him! Orbs in the night sky were changing a variety of different colours, a lot like the kind of Orbs that are being seen around the world today! Then a Triangle shaped UFO showed up. The soldiers around Norton were in complete shock and awe at this spectacle that was now suddenly in front of them.
After this incredible incident many soldiers became very ill. Every soldier who witnessed this crazy event was briefed that if they were to EVER disclose any information reference the night of these bizarre events, they would be court marshalled immediately and sent to Leavenworth. When Norton eventually obtained his medical records it disclosed that his illness was of unknown origin, his temperature was 104, he was placed in a steel tub of iced water for 2 days, to help bring his temperature down.
Norton had a memory lapse or as we know it in UFO ‘Speak’ it is also called “missing time”. He could not remember how he was on the range and then later found himself alone in the woods. There was an awful lot of time disorientation. During a hypnosis session, he learned that he was actually abducted and taken aboard an unknown craft. Medical experiments were conducted and samples were taken from his body.
After the incident two jets came in that appeared to be white washed, no numbers or identification were on the jets. The jets were there purely to collect UFO crash site debris!
UFO Proof:
Norton picked up a metallic piece from the crash site that had/has strange hieroglyphics on it. This metallic piece cannot be burned. A hacksaw will not cut it either and if you bend it, it will just go back to its original shape. Norton has this metallic piece apparently BURIED AT HIS PROPERTY!?
Norton is now willing and ready to show this evidence to some credible UFologists and to the media! Norton claims he has a 100% proof of UFOs being real, with this solid piece of evidence that he held onto since the incident itself!!
Military helicopters shot down:
The military helicopters that were shot down during the incident, were never actually ever reported to the FAA. He was also burned from a mysterious red substance from this incident!?
Norton is now stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama and describes how they experiment with biological and chemical substances on this base and that something else is going on there. There is UFO activity at this base, it seems that our military is test flying UFOs all over the base!
One side note: For 62 years, the School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Georgia, has trained some of the worst human rights abusers in the hemisphere.
Other Proof:
Norton even has some incredible night vision footage of all of the UFOs in their different colours taken on the base. He also has footage of a UFO going from one horizon to another horizon in only about a mere 2 seconds. He has video footage of a triangle shaped UFO that hovers over the base, no sound being emitted from it. He has all of this video footage for any credible Ufologist to review, of which he now ready to share with the right people!

The Large Hadron Collider is now firing at its highest-ever energy level - and scientists hope we could find a parallel universe.
It won’t be a parallel universe as seen in science fiction - but it could give our understanding of physics is about to take a very big jolt indeed.
One of the many mind-scrambling ideas on the table is that the Big Bang never happened, and the universe has always existed.
Scarily, scientists are combing through results from June in the hope of finding evidence of mini black holes produced inside the collider.
‘Just as many parallel sheets of paper, which are two dimensional objects (breadth and length) can exist in a third dimension (height), parallel universes can also exist in higher dimensions’ Cern employee Mir Faizal from the University of Waterloo said.
‘We predict that gravity can leak into extra dimensions, and if it does, then miniature black holes can be produced at the LHC.’

Our place in the universe is a conundrum — life on Earth evolved to create a technologically-savvy race that is now looking for other technologically-savvy intelligences populating our galaxy. But there's a problem; it looks like humanity is the only "intelligent" species in our little corner of the universe — what gives?
This question forms the basis of the Fermi Paradox: given the age of the universe and the apparent high probability of life evolving on other planets orbiting other stars, where are all the smart aliens?
According to a new study based on data collected by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope and NASA's Kepler Space Telescope, it might be that Earth (and all life on it) is an early bloomer. By extension, the logical progression from this new study is that we're not hearing from advanced alien civilizations because, in short, the universe hasn't had the time to spawn many more habitable worlds.
The study, which focuses purely on the likelihood of the evolution of habitable worlds (and not speculation of alien intelligence, the Fermi Paradox implication is my own), finds that when our planet was born from our young sun's protoplanetary disk some 4.6 billion years ago, it was born into an era when only "8 percent of the potentially habitable planets that will ever form in the universe existed." This means that the universe has 92 percent to go until it runs out of the necessary material to produce the stars that go on to produce planets, some of which will be small and rocky and orbit in just the right location for life (as we know it) to thrive.
"Our main motivation was understanding the Earth's place in the context of the rest of the universe," said Peter Behroozi of the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore, Md., "Compared to all the planets that will ever form in the universe, the Earth is actually quite early."
Hubble has shown astronomers that young galaxies were churning out stars at a fast rate some 10 billion years ago. However, the quantity of hydrogen and helium involved in stellar production was low compared with the amount of these star-forming gases that exist today.
"There is enough remaining material (after the Big Bang) to produce even more planets in the future, in the Milky Way and beyond," said Molly Peeples, also of STScI.
By combining this knowledge from Hubble with exoplanetary data from Kepler, the researchers were able to form a picture of the habitable planet potential of our galaxy and use it as a model for the number of other habitable worlds existing throughout the cosmos.
Since Kepler started taking data in 2009, we've been introduced to a menagerie of small rocky worlds orbiting sun-like stars. Some of these thousands of worlds orbit their stars within the habitable zone — the region surrounding a star that's not too hot and not too cold to allow liquid water to persist on its surface. By extrapolating from Kepler's comparatively small dataset, astronomers have predicted that there should be around 1 billion Earth-sized worlds orbiting within their stars' habitable zones in the Milky Way. If we consider there are 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe, there's a huge number of habitable, Earth-sized worlds throughout the cosmos.
And the universe, according to this new theoretical study, has only just started in the planetary production business. The last star isn't expected to fizzle out for another 100 trillion years (when the universe will continue toward its perpetual march to "heat death"), so there's lots of time left.
With the help of these observations, the researchers predict that Earth 2.0 (i.e. rocky planets of Earth-like dimensions orbiting within their stars' habitable zones) will most likely pop up inside giant galaxy clusters or dwarf galaxies where reservoirs of star-forming (and therefore planet-forming) gases are known to reside. Alas, the Milky Way's planet-forming days are numbered, as much of these gases have already been consumed during our galaxy's heady "starburst" days.
Noted by the researchers is that the advantage of being an "early" civilization evolving at this time of universal evolution is that we have the awesome opportunity to study the early stages of cosmic evolution, using space telescopes (such as Hubble) to see the early formation of galaxies and witness observable evidence for the Big Bang. For any future civilization in a trillion years time, the universe will look very different than it does now — fewer galaxies will be visible and the earliest evidence for the Big Bang (such as the cosmic microwave background radiation) will have further ebbed away.
It's interesting to ponder how an intelligent alien civilization will interpret a more mature, perpetually expanding universe lacking the cues to its origin that we take for granted today. Would they assume, lacking contradictory evidence, that the universe has always existed? And that just because the universe is expanding, it doesn't mean there had to be a Big Bang?
Of course, this is just a fun thought experiment; predicting the existence of a future alien intelligence, let alone how they may interpret their cosmic environment, is presumptuous at best. But it does pose an existential problem beyond the Fermi Paradox. If the Earth is an early bloomer, and humanity is one of the first intelligent civilizations to pop up in a universe of infinite possibilities, how might our civilization unfold?
Who knows, but it seems the universe has the boundless potential to form new worlds and new life (and new intelligences) that will potentially form long after humanity and life on Earth has come and gone, eventually succumbing to the inevitable death of our sun in about 5 billion years time. This study serves to remind us that our time as an intelligent life form in the universe is fleeting, and it seems many more intelligences will evolve long after we are gone.

No need to look to the stars in our search for extraterrestrial life; aliens might already be here among us on Earth...Or at least that's what retired Professor David M. Jacobs thinks.
According to Jacobs, extraterrestrial beings have been abducting and sexually molesting humans the world over for aeons, all to create a hybrid race of alien-humans who walk the earth unnoticed but will eventually take over the planet.
But Jacobs isn't your typical UFOlogist. Tenured for 36 years as a Professor of American History at Temple University, Jacobs is a 71 year old intellectual-type who, according to Philly.com makes his case with "well-reasoned, articulate explanations and applies scholarly approach to his research which he has shared in four books- printed by well-known and academic publishers."
Jacobs says he is well aware of the stigma that surrounds Ufology."I knew that it was embarrassing to the university," says Jacobs of his stance on UFOs. "I was not rewarded for my views [...] But you do not often find yourself in the middle of a phenomenon that allows you to make a contribution to something that could be of unsurpassing importance in human history," Jacob adds.
"What I'm doing will either be an interesting but nonessential footnote to popular culture or the most important thing that's ever happened to humankind. I see it as the latter," explains Jacob.
Jacobs claims his evidence is solid, collected primarily from the 150 abductees that he has interviewed over the years. He claims that these abductees independently report similar experiences, recalling common details of intense eye-contact, and neurological scanning. Based on researching this small sample, Jacobs has drawn the conclusion that the number of abductees across the world numbers in the millions.
Jacobs details some of his other conclusions to Philly.com's Dana Difilippo, stating, among other things, that the families of some abductees reported seeing their loved ones simply disappearing into thin air. Other findings included the discovery of mysterious scar tissue on the bodies of abductees and groups of people recalling the same mass-abduction events despite never having seen each other before.
Jacobs, who claims to never have actually witnessed a UFO or Alien abduction himself, began his journey into Ufology as a college student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the 1970s. After running into some interesting literature about Aliens and UFOs, he decided to change his dissertation from the portrayal of women in pre-1915 films to the UFO controversy in America.
But what began with what he used to think was "the most amazing, wowee, gee-whiz thing," quickly escalated into the realm of reality for him. "[T]he more I learn about it, the more I fear it, the more I don't want to have anything to do with it," Jacob now reflects.
"This is a clandestine phenomenon," Jacobs said. "There is one thing that I can say for sure: They don't want us to know what they're doing - because what they're doing benefits them and not us."
Most people ‘in the know’ realize that NASA is just part of the military industrial complex, but a recent open admission on mainstream news that “there are indications of alien life” is likely the beginning of a bid to get your undivided attention before full-forced disclosure ensues.
Most people already believe what NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan states:
“I think we’re going to have strong indications of life beyond Earth within a decade . . .I think we’re going to have definitive evidence within 20-30 years.”
It isn’t going to take that long if we open our eyes.
Stofan goes on to say:
“We’re on the verge of things that people have wondered about for millennia. Within all of our lifetimes we’re going to understand that there is life on other bodies in the solar system. We’re going to understand the implications of that for life here on Earth.”
What we’re going to understand is that our ‘secret’ government has been hiding this fact for ages. In an effort to transition the US and other countries through its reach to a cabal-run oligarchy, ourshadow government has been lying about off-planet corporate slavery rings, alien abductions, benevolent beings who can only do so much until our collective consciousness elevates, and much, much more.

We will learn that we are not helpless, as we have been programmed to believe. We are, in fact, a rare humanoid race that has an incredible range of emotion and creative power. We will learn that our minds and emotions can either fuel chaos on this planet, or restore it to its rightful place of peace and cooperation, of care for others at least as much as ourselves.
We will learn that our ascension into infinitely peaceful beings is indeed possible, and it has been described in countless books, many of which have been suppressed along with UFO information.
NASA is telling us now that the likelihood of alien life is a ruse. Be sure to remember those who have been executed to try to prove this information to us decades ago, and to use discernment when the truth is finally revealed.

Deakin a ajouté que ces observations se produisent " typiquement de l’ordre d’une par mois."

Monkeys paved the way for us to reach the moon and now Russian scientists are hoping the animals will be key to getting a human colony to Mars.
Experts from the Russian Academy Of Science are training four rhesus macaques to travel into space and land on the red planet - although it is unclear if they will also bring them back.
This training, which includes using a joystick and solving puzzles, should make them capable to man a mission within the next two years.

The program launched in the 1980s and is being carried out at the Institute of Biomedical Problems, based at the academy.
For scientific projects such as these, monkeys are hand-reared in special farms, where only the most intelligent are selected to take part in the research.

It took another two years before another monkey, this time called Yorick, made the journey to 263,000ft (50 miles) and survived. .

His vital signs and tasks were monitored during his 16 minute and 39 second fight and he splashed down into the Atlantic Ocean.
All four of the rhesus macaques in this latest study were chosen for their cognitive abilities and their quick-learning skills, explained the scientists.
Each day a team, led by Inessa Kozlovskaya, trains the monkeys to control a joystick and hit a target highlighted by a cursor.
When they complete the task successfully they are rewarded with a sip of juice.
Once they have mastered this task the macaques will be trained to solve simple mathematical tasks and puzzles.
At the end of their training the creatures should be capable of completing a daily schedule of tasks on their own.
The scientists are hoping this will be achieved by 2017.
Dr Kozlovskaya said the main goal is to teach monkeys to perform a particular range of tasks which they will be able to remember.
'What we are trying to do is to make them as intelligent as possible so we can use them to explore space beyond our orbit,' she said.
The team is also hoping that the space monkeys will be able to train others and integrate them into the team.
Macaques typically have a lifespan of around 25 years, so it is hoped there is enough time to train them properly and for them to survive the six-month trip to Mars, added the team.

A star is dimming for reasons that astronomers can't explain.
Observations by NASA's Kepler space telescope revealed that the star KIC 8462852, which lies about 1,500 light-years from Earth, dimmed dramatically and strangely several times over the past few years. Researchers aren't sure what's going on, and they have posited that some sort of light-blocking "alien megastructure" is a possible — though unlikely — explanation.
"We are the most skeptical people on the planet," Robert J. Sawyer, a Canadian sci-fi writer who regularly discusses alien life in his novels, toldSpace.com. His 23rd novel, "Quantum Night," will be published in 2016. "It is hard to find a science-fiction writer who believes in UFOs or flying saucers," Sawyer said.
Sawyer added that journalists, by contrast, often pump up the news because they "smell front page." And while Sawyer supports the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) because it is so cheap to listen for radio signals, he said it's meaningful that, in five decades of searching, nothing has come up so far. Aliens, he said, may communicate by other means.
All that being said, what if KIC 8462852 does host an alien megastructure? What might it look like? Sawyer and fellow sci-fi novelist Larry Niven shared some ideas with Space.com.

One possible use of a megastructure could be a sort of calling card, which was covered in Sawyer's 1994 novel "End of an Era." In that book, a paleontologist travels back to the time of the dinosaurs, some 65 million years ago, and spots a rosette pattern of stars in the sky. Upon analysis, it's clear the structure is far away; there is no parallax, or shifting in position when you view it at different times of the year (and at different points in Earth's orbit).
"You have to conclude that some now-extinct alien civilization was announcing itself to the universe by doing a mega-engineering project, moving the stars in a geodesic sphere so that from any vantage point, you would see it," Sawyer said.
Another use for a megastructure could be to harvest energy from a star, which is famously discussed in Niven's "Ringworld" series. Niven was inspired by the idea of a Dyson sphere — a shell or system of objects that would surround the star and collect its light.
In some cases, a Dyson sphere could be constructed as an artificial world with a water cycle, atmosphere and so on. Niven's twist, first articulated in the 1970 novel "Ringworld," was to have an object only around the star's equator — a ringworld — in part because spinning a Dyson sphere would force the atmosphere and oceans to the equator anyway. "The Dyson sphere looked wonderful, but I decided to make a cheaper version," Niven toldSpace.com. "[The public] loved it. I was surprised, and before that, I was a little worried. I wasn't sure they'd take it seriously. Once I opened the field, there were enough new problems to make a [book]shelf all based on ring structures."
One problem with the ringworld is that it would eventually break apart due to gravity from the star — an issue that both Sawyer and Niven pointed out. In Niven's next book on that concept, "The Ringworld Engineers" (1979), he stabilized the ringworld using attitude jets on the rim, which were powered by the solar wind (a stream of particles coming from the sun). He also made the ringworld's floor — the side facing the sun — magnetic so that it would interact with the sun's magnetic field and keep the ringworld aligned with the equator.
Glowing fires
Niven said he is also skeptical that the new find is an alien megastructure, but he said it could be suggestive of a Dyson cloud — a huge collection of solar panels to harvest the sun's energy. Stars could also be moved around to gather energy more efficiently — an idea that Gregory Benford and Niven cover in their jointly authored books "The Bowl of Heaven" (2012) and "Shipstar" (2014).
Aliens probably wouldn't use such a megastructure to act as a cosmic calling card, Niven added, as doing so would be very expensive.
However, Sawyer noted that there is historical precedent for making (or at least proposing to make) big structures that do little more than say hello. In the late 1800s, when some people believed there were canals and a dying civilization on Mars, Joseph Johann von Littrow (as the story goes) suggested digging huge canals in the Sahara, filling them with kerosene and setting them on fire.
"We would be signaling [the Martians] with glowing geometric shapes," Sawyer said. "It really has been this natural desire to say, 'Hey, we're here.'"

It's long been the stuff of sci-fi fantasy, but a team of researchers say they have built the world's first working sonic tractor beam.
Researchers from the Universities of Bristol and Sussex along with Ultrahaptics, a company that was started out of a project from the University of Bristol, claim to have built a sonic tractor beam that can move objects using sound waves.
The researchers published a report on their technique in the science journal "Nature Communications" on Tuesday.
Using a combination of 64 miniature loudspeakers to create a high-pitched and high-intensity sound waves, the device was able to levitate beads up to 4-millimetres in diameter.
"In our device we manipulate objects in mid-air and seemingly defy gravity. We can individually control dozens of loudspeakers to tell us an optimal solution to generate an acoustic hologram that can manipulate multiple objects in real-time without contact," University of Sussex professor of informatics Sriram Subramian said in a statement.
Unlike in previous attempts to create “tractor beams,” the object doesn't need to be completely surrounded by loudspeakers in order to manipulate it.
The group found that, by altering the sound wave output, the high-intensity sound waves create a force field that can keep a bead in place, move it around, and even combine multiple beads.
"We all know that sound waves can have a physical effect. But here we have managed to control the sound to a degree never previously achieved," said Bruce Drinkwater, a professor of ultrasonics with the University of Bristol.
Unlike the tractor beams audiences are accustomed to seeing dragging unsuspecting humans into orbiting UFOs, researchers envision this technology could one day have applications in medicine, for example, moving or manipulating everything from kidney stones to micro-surgical instruments without interfering with magnetic resonance imaging.
The next step is building a larger version that is capable of levitating a soccer ball from 10 metres away, and building a smaller version that can manipulate particles inside the human body.

Austin Rossouw, a graphic artist and animator from Johannesburg, took up The Citizen’s challenge of producing a photo of a UFO above the skyline of Johannesburg. His brief was simple: check out the original photo and give us something that looks like it was taken with a cell phone inside a moving car and put it in a cool location, such as Braamfontein – and make it confusing: maybe it’s a thunder cloud and maybe it is a Zorkmobile from planet Zork (it’s always Zork). 30 minutes later, we had our very own UFO in Johannesburg.

The point of the exercise is to show two things – just how cool Adobe suite is, but also, how easy it is to go viral. One would have thought that in 2015 people would have moved on from believing everything they see and read, just because they see and read it – but that is not the case. Although some people took the picture as a joke, many others shared the photo believing it just might be true.
If the UFO is in fact real, and here I am making a mockery of graphic design 101 and all the believers of the great alien conspiracy, then the joke will be on me. Think about it, these super advanced, freaky (no doubt slightly prawny) beings are here to impress upon us their superiority and here is a little you-know-what called Devlin Brown posting a picture of a fake cloudy UFO in a cooler location – definitely a hipster time-traveler. What if they get cross with me?

No, a UFO named WTF is not threatening to destroy Earth
Let's start with the facts: Yes, there's something hurtling through space in our direction. Yes, it's going to enter the Earth's atmosphere and possibly land in the Indian Ocean next month. No, scientists don't know quite what it is. And, no, that doesn't make it a UFO.
The European Space Agency released information last week about an object spotted streaking through space and heading toward Earth. Headlines are zeroing in on the chance of impact and the unidentified object's comically apropos nickname. Officially named WT1190F, the object's catalog number has been popularly shortened to "WTF."
But ESA scientists have a pretty good idea of what it could be -- probably a remnant from a past mission, like the hollow shell of part of a spent rocket -- and they're confident that it's unlikely to be a threat.
"The expected 13 November reentry of what is likely to be a rocket body poses very little risk to anyone," they wrote on the ESA blog Thursday.
"The object is quite small, at most a couple of meters in diameter, and a significant fraction if not all of it can be expected to completely burn up in the atmosphere," said Tim Flohrer, from ESA's Space Debris Office in Darmstadt, Germany.
Whatever remains of the space junk after the fiery reentry is expected to fall into the Indian Ocean, about 60 miles off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, on Nov. 13.

"If anything makes it down to the surface...it would be very small, so the odds of anybody getting hurt are very remote," CBS News Space Correspondent Bill Harwood said. "The thing that this always brings to mind is, all satellites and rocket bodies (re)enter on a fairly regular basis so it's not at all unusual."
"The good news is that three-quarters of the world is ocean, so the odds are that it's going to land somewhere in the ocean and the ocean is a big place," he added. "Statistically I think there's no point in worrying about this one."
WT1190F was first discovered in 2013 by the Catalina Sky Survey, which identifiesnear-Earth objects in space. It has been observed several times since then by the same team.
Scientists hope to use observations to better understand how objects -- "man-made or natural" -- behave upon entry into Earth's atmosphere.
Marco Micheli, an astronomer at ESA's Near-Earth Object Coordination Centre, said, "The first goal will be to better understand the reentry of satellites and debris from highly eccentric orbits."
"Second, it provides an ideal opportunity to test our readiness for any possible future atmospheric entry events involving an asteroid, since the components of this scenario, from discovery to impact, are all very similar."
Harwood explained that watching WT1190F could help scientists understand "what exactly happens when something comes into the atmosphere at extremely high speed and breaks apart: Where in the altitude does the break up start? How much debris reaches the surface?"
He also thinks it would be particularly interesting if scientists could identify the object, which could potentially be a piece of equipment left over from the Apollo missions.

"This is a true story."
Those words kick off every episode of "Fargo" — they were also at the start of the 1996 movie.
Of course the Coen brothers, and now show creator Noah Hawley, are playing fast-and-loose with "truth." But one of the most unbelievable, out-of-this-world parts of season two is, in fact, "a true story."
(Stop reading now if you're not caught up, Fargo watchers.)
We're talking about the aliens.
So far, unexplained lights and UFO-talk have been in all three episodes of "Fargo," which takes place in and around Luverne, Minn., in 1979.
For these supernatural allusions, Hawley may be pulling straight from the local history books.
Minnesota in the 1970s was something of a hotbed of UFO activity — for the people who believe in that kind of thing. "This was a big decade for UFOs in Minnesota," said Dave Kenney, co-author of "Minnesota in the 70s."
The end of the decade, 1979, brought one of the most notorious unexplained encounters in the whole UFO canon: Val Johnson's late-night crash.

Johnson was a Marshall County sheriff's deputy on night patrol outside Warren, Minn., near the North Dakota-Minnesota border. In the early hours of Aug. 26, 1979, he was driving a rural stretch of State Highway 20 when, he says, a ball of light appeared in the road.
"I noticed a very bright, brilliant light, 8 to 12 inches in diameter, 3 to 4 feet off the ground," Johnson said in a taped police interview. "The edges were very defined."
The next thing Johnson knew, the light was in the car with him.
It hit him, Johnson said, "like a 200-pound pillow."

He woke up in a ditch a half-hour later with burns around his eyes. The windshield and one headlight of his 1977 Ford LTD were smashed. Both radio antennas were bent sharply back. The watch on his wrist and the clock on the dash both ticked 14 minutes slow.
Police investigated and never drew any conclusions. But the UFO researchers have plenty of their own.
Jerome Clark, the author of "The UFO Encyclopedia," says the "Val Johnson Incident" remains one of the top 10 most influential UFO encounters in history.
MPR News reporter John Enger recently caught up with Johnson, 36 years after the incident. He's retired, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lives in Eau Claire, Wis.
While believers tout the story as one of the strongest pieces of evidence of extraterrestrial life, Johnson won't speculate on what happened to him that night. He says he doesn't even think about it much.
Johnson's story has plenty of parallels to what "Fargo" fans are watching play out on TV: the small-town cop, the rural highways, the strange lights in the sky.
What remains to be seen is how far Hawley and "Fargo" will take their fictionalized version of the "Val Johnson incident."
When asked about the UFOs by "Vanity Fair," Hawley kept things mysterious: "Look, the Coens' universe is very much a place where you have to accept the mystery and figure out ... does it mean something? Does it not mean something?"
We'll have to watch and see.

Within the next week, astronomers are expected to have an answer regarding the cause of the bizarre, irregular dips in brightness of star KIC 8462852, which have led many to speculate that we've found long-sought evidence of an alien civilization. Now, space blogger Jim Galasyn has an alternative explanation: the star itself is oblate, or lopsided, leading to the asymmetrical blockages of light.
While many stars experience dips in brightness as a result of the transit of other celestial objects, the dips of this particular star were unusual for being more extreme (up to 22%), asymmetrical, and non-periodic. The best explanation that involved a natural phenomenon was a string of comets circling the star, but this explanation is considered to be inadequate to fully explain the evidence. As a result, the astronomers who discovered the star began to look into the (admittedly remote)possibility of a Dyson sphere, or a megastructure built around the star by an advanced alien civilization.
The investigation is underway, and we're expected to receive answers by the end of this week. But in the meantime, Galasyn of Desdemona Despair has an alternative explanation from a 2013 paper by Barnes et al. called "Measurement of spin-orbit misalignment and nodal precession for the planet around pre-main-sequence star PTFO 8-8695 from gravity darkening." According to this paper, some stars don't have uniformly spinning discs, which causes the radius to be larger at the equator than at the poles. Since the poles have smaller surface area, they have higher surface gravity, which causes the poles to be "gravity brightened" and the equator to be "gravity darkened."
When a star is oblate, it has a larger radius at its equator than it does at its poles. As a result, the poles have a higher surface gravity, and thus higher temperature and brightness. Thus, the poles are "gravity brightened", and the equator "gravity darkened".
The star becomes oblate (and hence gravity darkening occurs) because the centrifugal force resulting from rotation creates additional outward pressure on the star.
Since there is variable brightness in different areas of the star, the irregular curves of light could be explained by planetarybodies moving across these brighter and darker areas. As planets of different sizes passed across different parts of the star, the brightness would change in asymmetrical and irregular ways.
"Did Kepler discover evidence of an extraterrestrial civilization?" Galasyn wrote on his blog. "Before we invoke aliens, we should consider the plausible natural explanation provided by Barnes:
'An oblique transit path across a gravity-darkened, oblate star leads to the long transit duration and asymmetric lightcurve evident in the photometric data.'"
