Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Mars: New hypothesis on the origin of the megaflood

Mars: New hypothesis on the origin of the megafloods
A study published in Scientific Reports puts forward a new explanation for the Martian megafloods: enormous discharges of subterranean water that dug out the biggest flood channels in the solar system over 3 billion years ago.
For many years it was thought that these megafloods were caused by the release of a deep global hydrosphere in the Martian subsoil. However, the research conducted by J. P. Alexis Rodríguez of the Planetary Science Institute (PSI-USA), with the participation of Rogelio Linares and Mario Zarroca of the Department of Geology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), has revealed that their origin could have been vast quantities of sediment and ice deposited 450 million years before the floods.
The findings from this project, which was partially supported by NASA funding for the PSI under its Planetary Geology and Geophysics Program, are detailed in the study entitled “Martian outflow channels: How did their source aquifers form, and why did they drain so quickly?”
The article, co-authored by the UAB Geology Department members mentioned above, describes how the sediments carried by rivers and glaciers filled up enormous canyons below an ancient ocean located in the Northern Lowlands, and how it was the release of the water trapped in these buried sediments that caused the megafloods, whose effects we can observe in the present.
The canyons filled up, the ocean disappeared and the planet surface remained frozen for around 450 million years. Subsequently, 3200 million years ago, the heat from lava beneath the canyons thawed the ice trapped in the sediments and enormous rivers of subterranean water spread over hundreds of kilometres, before eventually bursting out on to the now-dry surface and causing the megafloods.
In the words of the Geology Department researchers, “Our research suggests that, given that the process was regional rather than global, there could still be large reservoirs of subterranean water trapped under the surface of Mars, in the areas around the old northern ocean, or in other parts of the planet where seas and lakes formed at the same time.” “Traces of ancient environments capable of sustaining life forms similar to those on Earth could have been preserved in sub-surface materials that are now exposed,” claim R. Linares and M. Zarroca. “The results obtained could have clear implications both for exobiological research and for future human activity on Mars.”
To illustrate the scale of the Martian megafloods, the UAB researchers have estimated the effect they would have on Europe, quantifying it as around 2,500,000 km2.

Mars today (despite the presence of a small amount of a liquid water) is a dry, frozen place. But this was not always the case. Ancient Mars was likely warm and wet, much like Earth. So what happened to change it? Thanks to brand new results from NASA’s MAVEN mission, announced today, we may finally know.
The Solar Winds
“When we look at ancient mars we see a different kind of surface, an environment that was able to support water on the surface” said MAVEN principle investigator Bruce Jakovsky today. “So what happened to the carbon dioxide in that atmosphere, what happened to the water on early Mars?”
Over the last year, MAVEN has been studying Mars’ atmosphere carefully. Using that data, researchers revealed (along with the simultaneous publication of the results in Science and Geophysical Research Letters) that, under bombardment from solar winds, Mars’ atmospheric gases were being striped away.
While the solar winds don’t directly strike the planet’s surface, the solar winds have been stripping atmospheric gas around the planet steadily, coming off in bursts as Jasper Halekas, MAVEN’s lead instrument investigator explained “like the shock wave around a jet plane.”
As the solar winds carried off more and more of Mars’ atmospheric gas, like you see above, the planet was left less and less able to sustain the watery surface it once had. “The analogy I use,” Jakovsky explained, “is when I step out of the shower into the breeze, the water in my hair is just whisked away by the wind.”
Today, that loss of atmospheric gas is continuing at the rate of about 1/4 pound of gas per second. But, researchers believe that in Mars’ earlier days, as it first began to lose atmospheric gas, that rate was much higher. And even today, that rate can easily jump 10-20 times during a solar storm, like you see in this comparison between the average rates and the solar storm rates:
Is Mars Earth’s Future?
So, if Mars was a once a wet planet that lost its water along with its atmosphere, what about Earth? Should we worry that our own home might one day look like the red planet’s dry, dusty surface? Fortunately, there’s something significant standing in the way: Earth’s magnetic field.
Like Mars, Earth is also subject to powerful solar winds—and like Mars, it also loses some of its atmospheric gases. But the geomagnetic field repels it enough that it does not run up as directly against the atmospheric gases:
Of course, as researchers noted during their announcement of the results today, 3.7 billion years ago, early Mars also once had a geomagnetic field protecting it, a fact that allowed its ancient waters to flow. It was losing this that set off the chain reaction that eventually turned Mars into the dusty, red, frozen surface that we know. “The turn-off of the magnetic field is what allowed the turn-on of the stripping by the solar wind,” noted Jakovsky.

Astronomers from the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute in California have started searching for signs of alien life near a "mysterious" star.
NASA's Kepler space telescope had been monitoring KIC 8462852, a star located about 1,480 light years, since 2009.
There have been "bizarre" light fluctuations near the star, which scientists claim might be caused by a huge alien megastructure known as a "Dyson sphere."
A Dyson sphere is a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and hence captures most or all of its power output.

Astronomers have now started using the Allen Telescope Array (ATA), a system of radio dishes, in search for radio signals coming from KIC 8462852.
Another hypothesis about the light fluctuations is that it might be caused by swarm of comets that may be orbiting KIC 8462852.

Robert Hastings est l'un des chercheurs les plus reconnus dans l'étude du phénomène OVNI, il a enquêté sur de nombreux cas d'observations d'engins volants au-dessus de bases nucléaires américaines où sont entreposés des missiles nucléaires.
Il est également l'auteur d'un livre intitulé « OVNIS et armes nucléaires ». Au sujet des ovnis, Robert Hastings déclare que plus de 120 cas ont déjà été recensés par l'armée américaine depuis 1948, comme le prouve des documents secrets récemment divulgués. Ces documents indiquent qu'il est certain que ces ovnis sont plus particulièrement intéressés par les armes nucléaires et leurs sites de stockage.
Un des exemples les plus célèbres et les plus documenté est l'intrusion, en 1967, d'un ovni sur la base militaire de Malmstrom. L'ovni est resté de longues minutes à survoler les silos contenant les armes nucléaires avant que ces dernières finissent par se désactiver mystérieusement. Tous les agents présents lors de cet incident ainsi que plusieurs ingénieurs de la société « Boeing » témoignent aujourd'hui de son caractère inexplicable.
Suite à ce phénomène, trois des sept agents présents, dont Robert Hastings lui-même, émirent la même hypothèse... Il s'agirait en réalité d'un signal d'origine extra-terrestre visant à mettre l'humanité en garde contre l'utilisation qu'elle fait des armes nucléaires. Cette théorie est d'ailleurs longuement développée dans le livre de Robert Hastings dans lequel il dévoile de nombreux autres secrets militaires allant même jusqu'à évoquer la possibilité d'un complot mondial. Je ne peux donc que conseiller à tous les amateurs d'ovnis et tous les conspirationnistes de regarder cette interview qui, je le pense, ne fera que confirmer leurs opinions.

Clouds move above the large methane lakes and seas near the north pole of Saturn's moon Titan in this movie made from images taken by NASA's Cassini spacecraft.
Methane clouds in the troposphere, the lowest part of the atmosphere, appear white here and can be seen moving east over several of Titan's large northern lakes. The darkest areas are lakes and seas of liquid methane, identifiable because they have a low albedo, meaning they do not reflect much light. (The difference in brightness and darkness on the surface here indicates a difference in composition.) The clouds seen near lakes and seas suggest that Titan (5,150 kilometers or 3,200 miles across) may have "lake-effect" clouds created by weather systems over large bodies of liquid. However, without earlier observations to show the clouds did not originate west of the large sea Kraken Mare, scientists can't determine conclusively if these clouds are "lake-effect" clouds.
Near the beginning of the animation, a particularly large cloud can be seen directly over and east of Titan's huge sea, Kraken Mare. If full, Kraken Mare, at 400,000 square kilometers (154,000 square miles), would be almost five times the size of North America's Lake Superior.
Even if these clouds are not directly connected to the lakes and seas, scientists think that frequent detections of clouds at high northern latitudes since 2007 are related to the abundant availability of methane at the surface in this region.
The movie cycles through two versions: a labeled version showing blue outlines for the lakes and a second version with no overlays on the images. The four images used in this animation were taken over a period of about 24 hours from Sept. 22 to 23, 2009. This movie shows a different view of the same data presented in another imaging science subsystem (ISS) movie, PIA12812. This movie shows each lake (lacus) and sea (mare) identified with a blue-shaded area, based on albedo differences detected by the ISS and radar instruments. The images were re-projected to a polar stereographic projection centered over the north pole of Titan. Terrain at roughly 180 degrees west longitude is up in the movie. The north pole is below and to the left of the center of the movie, to the right of the top end of Punga Mare.
The clouds are visible above terrain at about 60 to 82 degrees north latitude, 220 to 260 degrees west longitude. Scientists calculate wind speeds from about 0.5 to 10 meters per second (1 to 22 miles per hour), based on tracking of individual cloud features in these images.
Other Cassini observations of clouds in Titan's southern latitudes provide evidence of a seasonal shift of Titan's weather systems to low latitudes from higher, south polar latitudes following the August 2009 equinox in the Saturnian system. (During equinox, the sun lies directly over the equator.) See PIA12810 and PIA12813 to learn more about the changes in Titan's southern hemisphere.
The images were taken with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera using a spectral filter sensitive to wavelengths of near-infrared light centered at 938 nanometers. The view was obtained at a range of distances from approximately 406,000 kilometers (252,000 miles) to 796,000 kilometers (494,000 miles) from Titan. Scale is about 4 kilometers (2 miles) per pixel in these re-projected images.
The Cassini Solstice Mission is a joint United States and European endeavor. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington, D.C. The Cassini orbiter was designed, developed and assembled at JPL. The imaging team consists of scientists from the US, England, France, and Germany. The imaging operations center and team lead (Dr. C. Porco) are based at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colo.

According to claims of a retired officer know as Captain Kaye (pseudonym), not only have humans made it to Mars in the past, but we have developed a secret space program and flotilla that operates in space. It seems that there are two versions that are being filtered to society when it comes to Space, Mars, and classified files relating the two. The first is that we have not been to Mars, there is a lot of work to be done and our technology is still very limited. The other one is the exact opposite, a version that several individuals have backed up over the last decade. The question here is, who is telling the truth? And would it be ludicrous to think we have made it to Mars and colonized the red planet thanks to secret space programs?
According to Captain Kaye, who is a former US Marine, he was posted on the red planet for years and his mission was to protect the five human colonies from indigenous life forms on Mars. According to Captain Kaye, not only did he spend years on Mars, but he also served aboard a giant space carrier for three years.
According to the former US Marine, he worked for the Mars Defense Force (MDF) which is owned and operated by the Mars Colony Corporation (MCC) which is basically a conglomerate of financial institutions, government and tech companies. Kaye and his team were part of a special section of the United States Marines with a highly classified mission, protect and ensure the existence of five newly-established colonies on the surface of the red planet. The Earth Defense Force, another secret military branch has military recruits from countries such as the United States, China and Russia.
Furthermore, Kaye states that his training took place on the Moon, inside a secret base called LOC or the Lunar Operations Command, on Saturn’s Moon Titan and even in deep space. Not only do we have technology to get us to Saturn and outer space, Mars is a planet crawling with life according to statements from the former Marine.
According to Captain Kaye, the space fleet has technology far superior than anything available anywhere on Earth. The various ships have different propulsion systems which allow the space fleet to reach the frontiers of our solar system with ease. According to Kaye, the propulsion systems used both fission and fusion powered thrusters, ward driver and antigravity technology, advancements that were facilitated to mankind by friendly ‘Gray Aliens’.
According to Captain Kaye, there are two indigenous species inhabiting Mars: The Reptillians and Insectoids. Both of them equally intelligent, the Reptilians are a species much more aggressive, defending their territory at all costs. The Insectoids, equally intelligent and capable are more passive.
The fact that Mars is a planet capable of sustaining life has been backed by several researchers, among them Dr. Brandenburg who even claims that alien beings waged a Nuclear War on the red planet and that we can find evidence of that today.
According to Dr Brandenburg, ancient Martians known as Cydonians and Utopians were massacred in the giant nuclear attack – and evidence of the genocide can still be seen today. According to scientists there are very large traces of Xenon-129 on Mars and the only process that we know that produces Xenon-129 is a nuclear explosion.
In a TV interview, Dr. Brandenburg stated: “Two great disasters happened on Mars,” he told Supreme Master TV, pointing to Utopia on a map. “One here, and then an asteroid impact happened here, and Cydonia was right in between them. That’s puzzling. Why would so many bad things happen in one area of mars that just so happened to have archaeology on it?”
While Captain Kaye has no physical evidence to back up his claims, he says that he is doing everything he can to obtain highly classified documents which would prove that what he is telling is true. Parts of the testimony from Captain Kaye are consistent with that of Michael Relfe, another whistleblower who claims to have served 20 years tour on the red planet. Laura Magdalene Eisenhower, great-granddaughter of former President Eisenhower claims that efforts were made to recruit here onto a human colony on Mars, led by researcher Dr. Hal Puthoff.
Having served 20 years in space, Mars and the Moon, Captain Kaye retired with honors.

Cinq fois plus rapide que le Concorde, il relierait Londres à New York en quarante minutes… Ce nouveau concept d’avion ultra-rapide rejoint d’autres projets déjà existants et destinés à voir (ou pas) le jour. Deux ingénieurs canadiens ont mis au point un nouveau concept d’avion supersonique à quatre ailes, pouvant transporter 75 passagers, à une vitesse allant jusqu’à Mach 10, soit 10 fois la vitesse du son. Le projet d’Airbus. Cet avion supersonique volerait à une vitesse de 5 508 km/h (4,5 fois la vitesse du son). La vitesse de croisière du Concorde, elle, était de 2000 km/h. Un vol Vancouver - Tokyo durerait 3 h avec cet avion, propulsé à la verticale par un moteur-fusée et équipé d’un système de propulsion par réaction des aéronefs et de deux turboréacteurs. Ce « Concorde 2 » ne pourrait accueillir que vingt passagers, contrairement à la première version (90 places). D’après les brevets, Airbus envisage une utilisation commerciale mais également militaire de ce nouvel avion. Ce n’est pas la première fois depuis le retrait du Concorde qu’Airbus Group (ex-EADS) s’intéresse aux avions de ligne supersoniques. En 2011, le projet « Zhest » a été présenté au salon du Bourget, un avion concept carburant révolutionnaire avec un mélange d’hydrogène et d’oxygène, et affichant zéro émissions de CO2. L’AS2. Le manufacturier aéronautique américain Aerion a imaginé un jet supersonique, l’AS2. En septembre 2014, il s’est associé à Airbus pour développer un AS2 capable de transporter douze passagers de Paris à Washington en trois heures, à une vitesse maximale de Mach 1,5. Le S-512. Spike Aerospace, autre constructeur américain, travaille sur un S-512 pouvant emporter dix-huit passagers à une vitesse de croisière de Mach 1,6. Conçue sans hublot pour un meilleur aérodynamisme, sa cabine sera équipée d’écrans reproduisant en temps réel la vue extérieure. Un prototype doit voir le jour entre 2018 et 2020. Le SonicStar. Encore plus ambitieux, le Britannique HyperMach vise une certification en 2021 de son SonicStar, censé atteindre Mach 4 et avec une consommation de carburant et un bruit inférieurs à ceux du Concorde, qui volait à Mach 2. Présenté en 2011, le SonicStar est un projet mené par l’industriel britannique Richard Lugg. Cet avion profilé pourrait voler à partir de 2021. À 18 000 mètres d’altitude, il relierait Londres à New York en deux heures, ou encore New York à Sydney en cinq heures. Le SonicStar restera une « Rolls Roys des airs » réservé à une clientèle très aisée. Le Jet N+2.Le Jet N + 2, de Lokheed Martin, entreprise américaine de défense et de sécurité, serait capable d’emporter quatre-vingts passagers pour un vol supersonique. Il pourrait atteindre 2 000 km/h en vitesse de croisière, et ainsi relier New York à Los Angeles en 2 h 30. Son design est conçu afin de réduire au maximum l’impact sonore du passage du mur du son. La configuration tri-réacteur de l’appareil devrait en effet être à même de réduire le bruit du bang supersonique. Un modèle aurait déjà été testé en soufflerie. (Photo : Lokheed Martin).
Le QSST-X. Développé par l’entreprise Supersonic Aerospace International (SAI), c’est un jet supersonique destiné aux hommes d’affaires. Il volerait entre Mach 1,6 et Mach 1,8. Sauf que le projet devait voir le jour en 2014 et on l’attend toujours… Il semble donc au point mort. (Photo SAI).

Des successeurs du Concorde
Car depuis le Concorde, plus aucun avion commercial ne peut se targuer d’emmener ses passagers à une vitesse supersonique, c’est-à-dire à une vitesse supérieure à la vitesse du son. Le Concorde proposait le Paris-New York en à peine 3 heures et demi… Aujourd’hui les avions mettent au mieux deux fois plus de temps.

Car s’ils ont fait d’immenses progrès depuis 40 ans en terme de consommation, d’aménagement, ou de capacité de passagers, nos Boeing 747 et autres Airbus A320 font du surplace question vitesse. Ce qui sonne un peu comme une régression après la mise au placard du Concorde, fleuron technologique très en avance pour son époque.
Pas les attentes des clients
Alors pourquoi un tel retard en matière d’innovation supersonique? Pour Michel Thorigny, dernier exploitant du Concorde, la raison est simple, ces avions supersoniques ne correspondent plus aux attentes de notre époque. Trop polluants, trop chers, trop de contraintes techniques et législatives. « Il y a quarante ans, nous pensions que la moitié des avions de ligne seraient des Concorde, et l’autre moitié des gros-porteurs. Nous nous sommes trompés, » explique l’expert.
Avec seulement 20 appareils produits, le Concorde a en effet constitué un véritable échec commercial bien avant son unique crash, le 25juillet 2000 près de Paris, qui a précipité son retrait de service. « Un échec commercial, mais un succès technologique, nuance toutefois Michel Thorigny, qui a piloté le dernier vol commercial du Concorde pour Air France. Cet avion supersonique a été un laboratoire de succès technologiques et économiques. C’est grâce à la technologie du Concorde que 9 000 Airbus A320 ont pu être livrés par exemple et qu’il y en a 8 000 autres en commande, ou encore qu’il a été possible de miniaturiser des systèmes d’implantation comme le cœur artificiel ou mettre au point les systèmes d’ABS des voitures.»
Des avions trop polluants
L’un des principaux obstacles à surmonter pour les constructeurs reste le problème du carburant. « Aujourd’hui, nous voulons consommer le moins de kérosène possible,analyse Michel Thorigny. Le Concorde consommait 23 tonnes de kérosène par heure. C’est énorme. Sa consommation de carburant était optimale à haute altitude et à haute vitesse, mais dès l’instant où il était en phase de décollage ou d’atterrissage, il augmentait très largement sa consommation. »Reste donc à inventer un réacteur qui consomme peu sur toute la durée du vol, une prouesse technologique que les scientifiques sont encore incapables de réaliser.

Pour le spécialiste de l’aviation supersonique, « viennent ensuite les problèmes environnementaux ». Les normes environnementales changent constamment. « Impossible dès lors de connaître ce qui sera imposé dans 10 ans. » Et comme il faut plus de dix ans pour construire un avion supersonique, les chercheurs se retrouvent face à un cahier des charges inconnu.
Des problèmes de législation
Autre problème, non négligeable: le bang supersonique. Lorsqu’un avion dépasse le mur du son, il déclenche une détonation qui peut provoquer des dégâts. Il est donc interdit de dépasser la vitesse du son au-dessus des zones d’habitation. Même s’il y a des recherches en cours aux États-Unis, « nous n’avons pas encore réussi à maîtriser ou minimiser ce phénomène, explique l’expert. Le Concorde avait été exclusivement conçu pour relier l’Ancien et le Nouveau Monde. En passant au-dessus de l’Atlantique, il ne dérangeait donc personne à part les poissons. Aujourd’hui, en revanche, nos intérêts économiques se situent en Asie. Or, si nous ne pouvons pas passer le mur du son au-dessus du continent, et que nous nous contentons de voler à la vitesse d’un airbus A320, un avion supersonique ne sert à rien. »
Et les passagers dans tout cela? Contrairement aux idées reçues, la vitesse de l’avion ne change pas grand-chose au confort. « Rien à voir avec un avion de chasse. Lorsque l’on passe le mur du son dans un avion tel que le Concorde, on ne ressent absolument rien. Il n’y a qu’au décollage que la pression de la vitesse est ressentie, mais elle est largement supportable», affirme l’ancien pilote, Michel Thorigny.
Des billets trop chers
Il suffit de regarder le succès actuel des compagnies aériennes low-cost pour comprendre que la durée de vol importe désormais moins que le prix, principal argument de vente. Pour Michel Thorigny, « un avion supersonique, qui transporterait 250 passagers, n’est en conséquence absolument pas d’actualité à moyen terme». Mais ce constat n’empêche pas les constructeurs aéronautiques de développer de nouveaux appareils supersoniques, bien plus petits que leur illustre prédécesseur et destinés à une clientèle extrêmement fortunée.

Bientôt un avion supersonique ?
Un mini-jet supersonique pour ultra-riches pourrait ainsi débarquer sur le marché dans les prochaines années. Le manufacturier aéronautique américain Aerion, a déjà commencé à prendre des commandes pour son jet, l’AS2. Cet avion supersonique sera capable de transporter douze passagers de Paris à Washington en trois heures, en allant à 1,7 fois la vitesse du son, soit 2 400 km/h. En attendant le premier vol prévu en 2019, puis la certification en 2021, Aerion a annoncé en mai un prix catalogue de 120millions de dollars. Mais les cinquante premiers clients pourront compter sur une ristourne a promis le constructeur. « C’est le seul projet d’avion supersonique que l’on verra probablement aboutir ces dix prochaines années », commente Michel Thorigny.
À l’inverse, des prototypes d’avions supersoniques comme le Skreemr, proposé par les Canadiens, n’ont rien de réaliste. Un avion qui va dix fois plus vite que la vitesse du son et qui est capable de faire New York-Sydney en à peine une heure pose de nombreuses questions. « Nous n’avons ni la technologie, ni les moyens financiers de mettre au point un tel avion, allègue l’expert. Il faudrait un accord économique planétaire pour le financer. »

CANDIDATURES. L'agence spatiale américaineacceptera les demandes à partir du 14 décembre et jusqu'à la mi-février 2016. A l'issue d'un long processus de sélection, la liste des sélectionnés pour la prochaine classe d'astronautes sera annoncée mi-2017. "Ce prochain groupe d'explorateurs américains de l'espace nous aidera à atteindre l'objectif de poser des humains sur la planète Rouge", a estimé le patron de la Nasa, Charles Bolden, lui-même ancien astronaute.
La très stricte sélection des astronautes
"Ceux qui seront sélectionnés voleront sur des vaisseaux américains lancés depuis le sol des Etats-Unis, feront des avancées essentielles dans le science et la recherche à bord de la Station spatiale internationale et aideront à repousser les limites de la technologie dans l'espace lointain", a-t-il souligné. Pour soumettre leur candidature, les prétendants devront avoir la nationalité américaine et disposer au moins d'une licence ("bachelor") en ingénierie, en biologie, en sciences physiques ou en mathématiques, délivrée par un établissement universitaire reconnu. Mais il est préférable d'être détenteur d'une maîtrise ou d'un doctorat. Les candidats doivent aussi avoir au moins trois ans d'expérience professionnelle dans ces domaines scientifiques ou au moins mille heures de vol pour les pilotes.
Enfin, ils doivent passer avec succès l'examen médical de la Nasa indiquant qu'ils sont aptes physiquement à effectuer des vols spatiaux de longue durée. La Nasa rappelle qu'il va y avoir au cours des prochaines années un nombre sans précédent de vols spatiaux habités. La prochaine classe d'astronautes volera sur quatre vaisseaux différents : la Station spatiale internationale (ISS), deux vaisseaux privés, le CST-100 Starliner de Boeinget Dragon de SpaceX, qui doivent entrer en service en 2017, ainsi que sur Orion.
Se protéger des radiations cosmiques
Orion est la première capsule de la Nasa qui sera capable d'emporter des équipages au-delà de l'orbite terrestre à partir de 2021 et ce pour la première fois depuis le programme Apollo de conquête de la Lune en 1969. Etant donné leur capacité, le CST-100 Starliner et le Dragon permettront d'ajouter un septième membre d'équipage permanent dans l'ISS, qui effectue des rotations de six mois. Ce membre supplémentaire doublera le temps que les astronautes consacreront à la recherche spatiale dans l'avant-poste orbital pour préparer un voyage vers Mars. Ils pourront ainsi étudier les effets de la microgravité sur l'organisme humain durant de longues périodes en apesanteur et voir comment se protéger des radiations cosmiques qui accroissent le risque de cancer.
"C'est une période exaltante pour faire partie du programme américain d'exploration spatiale habitée", a assuré Brian Kelly, directeur des vols humains de la Nasa au Johnson Space Center à Houston, au Texas, où sont formés et basés les astronautes.
A ce jour et depuis le début des activités spatiales à la fin des années 1950, la Nasa a sélectionné plus de 300 astronautes pour effectuer des vols dans l'espace qui ont eu d'importantes retombées bénéfiques sur Terre. Le corps actif des astronautes compte à l'heure actuelle 47 membres, contre 149 en l'an 2000 au pic du programme des navettes spatiales. Mais davantage de personnel sera nécessaire pour les équipages des futures missions vers l'ISS et pour des destinations lointaines dans l'espace.

Soviet, and later, Russian cosmonauts have observed interesting , unusual, and often inexplicable phenomena while in space. Some of them have talked about their experiences, although doing so is not encouraged by their space program. A cosmonaut is a person trained by a human spaceflight program to command, pilot, or serve as a crew member of a spacecraft; cosmonauts are professional space travelers.
Cosmonaut Vladimir Lyakhov once remarked about a very unusual phenomenon he observed from his spaceship looking down on Earth: two gigantic waves ascended from the waters of the Indian Ocean, and crashed onto each other. The mass of water resulting from the crash seemed to be a giant mountain that had vanished in an instant (published in Tekhnika-Molodezhi, Issue 3, 1980). Cosmonaut Vladimir Kovalyonok reported a very similar water pillar of over 100 kilometers in height in the Timor Sea near Australia (NLO magazine, 10/11, 1996). In an article published in Tekhnika-Molodezhi (Issue 3) back in 1979, cosmonaut and scientist Yevgeny Khrunov, remarked that UFOs cannot be denied, as thousands of people have observed them. Properties of unidentified objects simply astound the imagination. He was outspoken in another interview, a year later. It was in the pre-perestroika times, and Khrunov could not speak freely. Cosmonaut Aleksei Gubarev went a step further: he admitted that he believed in aliens. Interestingly enough, he mentioned the information that the Americans had at their disposal, information that confirmed his belief (Tekhnika-Molodezhi, Issue 1, 1980). Cosmonaut Valery Rozhdestvensky, a cosmonaut who does not believe in the presence of extraterrestrial civilization anywhere in the close vicinity to us, at the same time revealed knowledge about secret rumors or information that those outside of special circles (the Soviet space program and their military) could not know. In the article in Tekhnika-Molodezhi (Issue 10, 1980) he stated that he did not believe that a “small green man” actually knocked on the porthole of a Soyuz spaceship.
Russian UFO researchers managed to collect more information about cosmonauts and strange phenomena. An article published in Spektra newspaper (Issue 8, Leningrad, 1992, after the demise of the Soviet Union) lists several incidents. In 1976, Cosmonaut Vladimir Kubasov told a reporter that he and others had numerous facts that prove the existence of UFOs. This was the year of the famous Teheran UFO incident. In 1978, Vladimir Kovalyonok observed a strange object on August 15 from the Salyut-6 space station: it approached and distanced itself repeatedly. Cosmonauts Valery Ryumin and Leonid Popov, while aboard the same station in 1980 (from June 14 to 15) had observed a school of white glowing dots that took-off in the area of Moscow, and flew into space above their station. They reported it to the ground control.
An interesting sighting took place on September 2, 1978. Soviet cosmonauts Kovalyonok and Ivanchenkov observed the shadow of Salyut-6 orbital station over the clouds. The shadow had very strange orange-reddish color. What’s more amazing, it changed its size. Earlier that year, on August 25, both cosmonauts observed iridescent clouds: green, purple, reddish, blue, and even violet. Other Soviet cosmonauts (V. Sevastyanov, P. Klimuk) had reported silvery clouds. Their origin remains unexplained. Sevastyanov was mesmerized by their dull, occasionally pearly-white, cold, glitter. The structure of such clouds was either very thin (or bright) on the edges of the pitch-dark sky, or porous, resembling a swan’s wing.
These clouds are said to be a magic spectacle. Russian astronomer Vitold Tsesarsky first reported them in 1885. The clouds are the highest in the Earth’s atmosphere, located at the altitude of 70-90 kilometers. They consist of diffused particles, its nature still unclear.
Colonel Yury Nazarov, former deputy commander of the Soviet Space Mission Control Center, recalled that on August 29, 1978, cosmonauts Kovalyonok and Ivanchenkov (mentioned earlier) , and the newly arrived cosmonaut Bykovsky and East German cosmonaut Sigmund Jähn had observed an unidentified large-sized spherical object that flew around Salyut-6. After the cosmonauts returned to Earth, Soviet UFO researcher Vladimir Ajaja approached Bykovsky, to get some explanations, but the cosmonaut only admitted that they did observe something inexplicable from aboard the Salyut. The source is V. Ajaja’s booklet Znakomtes’, NLO (1990).
Cosmonaut Georgy Grechko reported seeing a strange being of gigantic dimensions over Mongolia. Georgy Grechko and Yuri Romanenko had also reported to the Tsentr (Soviet Space Mission Control Center) that while in their orbital station over the Falkland Islands they had actually observed huge letters. The photograph they took was delivered to Earth by visiting cosmonauts Dzhanibekov and Makarov.
Cosmonaut Vladislav Volkov, who perished in 1971, recalled the inexplicable noises he had heard in space, in his headset intercom: Sounds of dogs barking and babies crying. The Earth was below, and he was in orbit, yet he heard strange noises. To his death Volkov was not able to explain it. Cosmonauts Gagarin and Leonov heard music that the former described as “not of this Earth.” Not everything could be explained by sensory depravation. Nor did everyone involved attempt to seek explanations (NLO, 1999). Cosmonaut Yury Malyshev said that when it comes to UFOs, no one in the world, probably, can say what they are. It is impossible to refute similar phenomena, for there were thousands, or tens of thousands of people who have witnessed them. But the physical nature of the (UFO-P.S.) phenomenon remains indeterminate (Tekhnika-Molodezhi, Issue 11, 1981). Earlier that year, Cosmonaut Vladimir Aksyonov was more cautious. He said that cosmonauts often observe peculiar light phenomena as of yet inexplicable in nature. The contemporary stage of research of the phenomena is similar to the early establishment of such sciences, as zoology and botany, when the naturalists simply described unknown species of animals and plants (Tekhnika-Molodezhi, Issue 1, 1981)
In the year 1982, on July 12, Soviet cosmonauts Georgy Beregovoy and Valentin Lebedev were able to observe an unusual drop-shaped object on the monitor’s screen of the Salyut-7. It flew, ascending, between the orbital space station and Progressor-14 craft. The object, at the distance of 200 meters, could have been the size of a spaceship. The cosmonauts reported their sighting to the Tsentr. This information comes from the books authored by Gherman Kolchin, former Soviet colonel and UFO phenomenon researcher. The author also recalled speaking with Cosmonaut Pyotr Klimuk in April of 1989, who confirmed he does not refute the existence of UFOs (Fenomenon NLO: vzglyad iz Rossii, Kolchin’s book published in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1994).
An interesting interview was published in Sputnik magazine. The subject of the article was perception of UFOs by cosmonauts and astronauts. It contained stories told by ten Soviet and American space explorers. Only one did not refute the possibility of UFOs coming to our galaxy. Yevgeny Khrunov actually mentioned that it is not possible to deny their (UFOs) presence in our galaxy. Thousands of people have observed them. Maybe they are but optical illusions, but some of their characteristics, for instance the change of their flight course at 90 degrees, boggle imagination.
Cosmonaut Gennady Strekalov mentioned that he saw strange phenomena several times, but is hesitant to classify what he saw as UFOs. But his colleagues did see “flying saucers,” and he envies them. Strekalov did not provide details about their sightings. He described the phenomenon he observed in 1990, on September 28, during his sojourn on the space station MIR: a sphere over the Newfoundland (at the altitude of 20-30 kilometers). The source is Rabochaya Tribuna newspaper, October 16, 1990 issue. The atmosphere was clear and visibility was perfect. The sphere was beautiful, and changed colors. It remained visible for ten seconds, and vanished instantly. Strekalov remembers that it had a perfect shape. He reported the incident to the Mission Control Center, but did not classify it as a UFO explaining that cosmonauts must be cautious. Cosmonaut Gennady Manakov was with Strekalov aboard the MIR space station station, and observed the same phenomenon.
In 1984, the crew aboard the Soviet orbital station Salyut-7 consisted of six cosmonauts: Leonid Kizil, Oleg At’kov, Vladimir Solovyew, Svetlana Savitskaya, Igor Volk, and Vladimir Dzhanibekov.
On the 155th day of the station’s flight, the crew was busy with planned experiments, tests, and scientific observations. They were about to start medical experiments. All of them were experienced, skilled cosmonauts. Then, something that was out of their experience, knowledge, and understanding occurred. In front of the Salyut- 7 station, out of nowhere, a large, orange, gas cloud suddenly appeared, its origin unknown. The cosmonauts immediately informed the Tsentr upravleniya poletom (Soviet Space Mission Control Center). While the astonished Tsentr analyzed the report, Salyut-7 entered the cloud. The crew had a brief impression that the orange cloud entered their station.
They were all engulfed by the mysterious orange glow, blinded, out of contact with their comrades. But their sight, however, was restored quickly. The cosmonauts stumbled to the station’s portholes. What they saw left them speechless: seven gigantic shapes could be easily discerned inside the orange cloud. Their political ideals, their faith in Marxist-Leninist postulates were gone in a flash. None doubted their eyes. None questioned the shapes: seven heavenly angels. The angels looked like humans, and yet they were different. Yes, the angels possessed huge wings, and blinding halos. The main difference, however, lay in the angels’ smiles. When they gazed upon the Soviet crew, they smiled. The Soviet cosmonauts recalled what wonderful smiles the angels had. Smiles of joy, of rapture…no human could smile like that. Ten minutes passed quickly. As the clock ticked away the time, the angels disappeared, along with their cloud. The crew of Salyut-7 felt a devastating loss. But Earth was demanding explanation. When the Tsentr received the report, it was immediately classified as “top secret.” A special team of doctors was formed to study cosmonauts’ well-being. Hence, instead of carrying out further experiments in space, the crew was ordered to measure its own physical and mental health. The tests indicated that the cosmonauts were well and of sound mind.
In view of the dominant ideology, the incident, quite embarrassing to the Soviet regime, was hushed up for years. The popular Russian NLO magazine (Issue 9, 1998) carried one account of the incident. The incident took place before the perestroika period, and in order to create unnecessary furor, the Politburo made sure that the report remained secret. The crew of the Salyut-7 was warned to keep silent. No angels could exist inside or outside the Soviet Union.
There are still episodes of the Soviet space exploration that are not widely discussed in Russia. Such are the accounts of the so-called “space whisper.” One former cosmonaut known only as, Cosmonaut X, revealed some information, but demanded that his name remain anonymous. He recalled that Soviet cosmonauts heard hushed up rumors about the “whisper,” but did not share definite information among themselves, nor did they report anything to the doctors. They were afraid that the latter would remove them from the space program. Cosmonaut X and his colleague believed the rumors to be a legend created by the first team of Soviet cosmonauts, to scare the greenhorns. He was wrong.
They were aboard a Soviet spacecraft, flying over the Southern hemisphere, when the “whisper” came to them. The narrator said that he suddenly felt as if someone else was next to them. He felt that some invisible being stared into his back; and it was a hard gaze. The cosmonaut had no doubt he was being observed. A second later his comrade, the flight engineer, who was looking into the porthole, sharply turned around and looked about him. Both were quite ordinary people, far removed from any mystical beliefs. But they were good friends, and knew each other long before the Star City training. They were not afraid to compare their impressions after the episode. They received different “texts,” but their initial reaction to the “whisper” was identical: both became mute and dumbfounded. The “whisper” came from the depths of Cosmonaut X’s consciousness and said: “You arrived here too early, and you did it in a wrong fashion. Trust me, for I am your ancestor on the maternal side. Do you remember, she told you; back when you were a child, about your great-grandfather, who had founded the D-s factory in the Urals? Sonny, you should not be here, go back to Earth, do not violate the Laws of the Creator…Sonny, you must return, return, return…”
The “whisper” also told the cosmonaut a very private story, as if to prove knowledge that existed only inside the family; it concerned the cosmonaut’s great-grandfather.
Both cosmonauts were back on Earth two days later. The “whisper” came back to them one more time; the “texts” of what it said were the same as the first time; and both felt the alien presence throughout their time in orbit.
The cosmonauts faced a dilemma: to report the incident or not. If they did, their careers could end immediately. They could be considered impressionable people, their psyche too unstable for further flights into space. Other cosmonauts kept somewhat silent about the “whisper,” at least nothing was reported to their superiors.
Cosmonaut X and his colleague spent endless hours trying to determine what it was that they had experienced. They were atheists, and both liked science fiction. This led them to a conclusion that alien intelligence, using some king of hypnosis, is determined to prevent the mankind from exploring the outer space. To convince the mankind that its sons and daughters in outer space are not experiencing hallucinations, hard facts are presented, facts picked up from probing human brains, memories and subconscious. How long have “they” researched our civilization? Perhaps for thousands of years.
But are the aliens so naïve as not to understand that we would see their ploy? Then, if it was not an alien “whisper”… whose would it be? Did the departed relatives truly visit Soviet crews in space? This conclusion shattered the cosmonauts’ convictions, their atheism, and their view of the world. Does it mean that there is life after death, and that the consciousness (not the physical body) continues to exist on other stages of existence? There must be a hierarchy to such stages, and on the top of the hierarchy would be the Creator, as the great-grandfather had informed the cosmonaut.
Their sense of duty told both cosmonauts that a report had to be made. They did not listen to that sense. But some other cosmonauts, who had heard the “whisper,” did make reports. As a result, special medical teams were introduced into the training program, top-rated medical hypnotists began to explore cosmonauts’ psyches, and the whole fight-training program underwent changes.
Cosmonaut X, who has since retired, does not know how the “whisper” is treated nowadays, and what conclusions Russian scientists have come to (the report was published in Press-Extra newspaper, Issue 135, 1997). He did say that his whole outlook on life had changed. The outer space is full of intelligence, and is much more complicated than we imagine it to be. Our present knowledge does not allow us to understand the essence of most processes taking place in the Universe. Our abilities are still quite limited. But for those who had heard the “whisper” one thing is clear: the future exists, and it is endless, just as time and space are endless ( via fatemag.com ).
Who knows what awaits the humans in our exploration of the outer space? We have not wandered far from the embrace of our planets, but have already encountered wonders we are not able, as yet, to explain.

In 2008 in a Siberian cave, a discovery was made that was of enormous significance; another ancient man that DNA studies shows that they had bred with us Homo sapiens sapiens like the Neanderthal had. A couple huge molars and a finger bone were found.

Siberian Ice Maiden “Altay Princess”: From 5th century BC, this mummified lady was found in a subterranean burial chamber. This tomb was on the border of China. She was buried with food and with her horses, facing east. Her skin still showed tattoos of deer shapes. She was buried in a beautiful gown and leggings and a 3-foot tall headdress, a fur, a mirror, and deer figurines. Interestingly, DNA testing proved her to not be of Asian descent as the Altai's in the area. For now, they are just calling her Samoyed, of Russian indigenous descent, but still no one has said if her DNA matches that potential lineage.
Mystery Craters
In 2014, a strange enormous hole developed in the permafrost in Siberia. Later, more of these huge holes were found. Many theories have abounded and the most popularly held being that they were formed by methane gas in the permafrost. National Geographic offered this possibility - A pingo, a plug of ice that forms near the surface over time and has a small mound or hill on top. When an ice plug melts rapidly — as many have been, thanks to unseasonably warm temperatures in Siberia over the past year — it can cause part of the ground to collapse, forming a crater.

Lake Labynkyr Monster
One of the coldest lakes in the world has been the focus of a supposed monster. In the 1950s, a Russian scientist described what he saw in the lake: “…There was some kind of an animal…. As it approached, I grew overwhelmed by a strange consternation, freezing me inside. A dark grey oval bulk was seen in the water. On it were two symmetrical white spots, looking like eyes of an animal, and something like a stick poked out of it… Maybe a fin? We only saw a little part of the animal, but could guess a huge solid body under water. No doubt, that was a predator, one of the strongest in the world”.
Recently, a scientific team studied the lake to find a deep fissure within and inside of that, the skeletal remains of a large mammal with a huge jaw. Speculation has abounded that this might be the remains of the lake's monster, or one of them....

Lake Mystery

New crop circles have been discovered, this time in two South American countries.
The first crop circle appeared in Ipuacu, Santa Catarina, Brazil, on 31 October 2015 and the second crop circle appeared in Chicoana Salta province. Argentina, on 1 November 2015.

You really have to wonder if these craft are some kind of organic life, a living, bio-engineered UFO that could think, make intelligent decisions, and perform tasks on his own or under the control of an alien race.
The UFO as shown in the video could be best explained as a living creature, a free-floating organic being capable of intelligence.
UFO sightings have been reported from various parts of Sri Lanka over the years. Hundreds of people have seen UFOs over Sri Lanka according to professor Chandana Jayaratne of the University of Colombo who has investigated some UFO cases.
Some predict that Extraterrestrials could either be on the lookout for technology that was used to construct sacred buildings or may be an attempt to locate the “Vishva Yathura” (Key to the Universe)!
Portal – UFO Underwater base off the southern coast of Sri Lanka?
In 1990 a UFO flies out of the Ocean 210 miles south of Matara.
A saucer-shaped UFO stunned the crew of a tanker when it blasted out of the ocean and circled their ship for fifteen terrifying minutes before vanishing without a trace back into the sea!
According to Sri Lankan newspaper reports, the incident took place in broad daylight in late March, 210 miles south of Matara, Sri Lanka, in the Indian Ocean.
No one was injured, but the 175-ft tanker Kim Seng suffered severe structural damage from the towering waves that were kicked up when the UFO rose out of and later returned to the water, the press said.
“It was enormous – at least five times the size of our ship,” Rasika Mawatha, the 47-year-old captain of the Kim Seng, told reporters.
All the ship’s instruments went haywire and the needle on the compass kept spinning around and around. I couldn’t even use the radio to call for help,” he said.
“The spacecraft glowed and pulsated with a silvery light and another eerie beam of light shone from the bottom of the ship. It seemed as if whoever was in the craft was scanning our ship, but for what purpose, I don’t know.”
“One minute it was there and the next it had vanished back into the sea in a blinding flash of light,” said Mawatha. “
Immediately after the UFO disappeared, the ship’s instruments began working again as if nothing had happened.
“I radioed authorities about what had happened and they sent planes and ships to scan the area but they came up with nothing,” said Capt. Mawatha.
Officials searched for days but not a trace of the UFO could be found.
In April 1998 a UFO landed in Bandarawela. Two young boys who saw the strange object in their school playground in Bandarawela are convinced it was a UFO.
And in 2002 more than 100 villagers saw a UFO near Parakrama Samudra. The flying object was capable of emitting ‘V’ shaped beam of light of intense illumination. The light beams rotated, suddenly disappeared and reappeared a few seconds later from a place 300-400 meters away from the place it was initially.
The UFO was capable of moving at a very high velocity and when it is travelling at a lower height it made a sound similar to a sound made by a bee and it could change its direction to avoid colliding with trees.
In 2004 a Royal Air Force officer took a photograph of an unidentified atmospheric occurrence or portal to another dimension.

It is one of two photographs taken of what is being termed an ‘unusual atmospheric occurrence. It was only released via Great Britain’s UFO file release of early 2011. Not a typical craft by any mean, it nonetheless is there, and certainly unidentified.
The pilot states that he heard a clap of thunder, followed by the appearance of this unusual light. He says that the object did not rise but headed to earth.
The geographical position of this occurrence is interesting for Sri Lanka is noted by some to be a hotspot for UFO sightings as well as a host of other natural phenomena.
Could what the pilot saw that day be a portal to another dimension, revealed by this captured energy burst?
The photographs were submitted to the Ministry of Defence by way of RAF Fylingdales, which is a ballistic Missile Early Warning station in England.
Portal – UFO underwater base off the southern coast of Sri Lanka?
With all these strange UFO sightings we may wonder whether there is an underwater UFO base or portal near Sri Lanka.
With the latest news that an artificial made object, named WT 1190F, discovered by the Catalina Sky Survey WT1190F is predicted to impact the Earth about 60-100 km of the southern coast of Sri Lanka on November 13, 2015 we checked the supposed impact area on Google Earth and found a strange unnatural looking structure or rock formation in the ocean what looks like a portal or entrance that leads to an underwater base, or is there a logical explanation for this structure? (Coordinates Google Earth: 6°10’55.73″N 81°28’52.69″E).
Now with the unidentified object WT1190F, even the military cannot track or identify the incoming spacecraft we may wonder whether object WT1190F has something to do with the strange location in the ocean or not. Besides it is interesting to know that the location of the 1990 UFO that came out of the ocean is not far away from the portal-like location.
A photographer named Richard Emblin, who is also the editor of the only English-language newspaper (“The City Paper”) distributed in the Colombian capital city, Bogotá, managed to photograph a UFO in the city’s skies with a Nikon 300s. According to Emblin in the Mirror (article by Laura Connor), the object is a somewhat blurry figure 8 that moved through the skies of the capital and which he could see from his place of residence.
“I did not hoax my photo. On Sunday, April 12, I went out to my balcony, which faces to the east. It was a grey Sunday morning. The streets were empty and washed by the slight drizzle that had fallen overnight. When I looked up, I saw an object rising vertically skyward, behind the crest of the Cerros Orientales,” he added. Richard Emblin, who is also a journalist, has published his work in prestigious media such as TIME magazine and the New York Times, among others. He believes this could harm his reputation, but he says, however, that his sighting did not resemble an airplane in the least. “It wasn’t a single object – it looked like two. I was able to see the object changed shape.
It could rise and descend quickly and go from one end of the city to another in seconds. The black spot appeared to have rings. Then it tilted, moved sideways and disappeared,” he adds. Emblin asks his readers to draw their own conclusions, as he does not endeavor to convince anyone. He simply witnessed something mysterious over the Colombian capital.
Remember the asteroid that zoomed past Earth last weekend? New high-resolution images of it have revealed a world of mysterious pits and other complex features.
The 500-metre-wide Halloween asteroid - 2015 TB145 - was discovered only a few days before it flew about 480,000 kilometres above the Earth, which is relatively close in cosmic terms.
Astronomers saw the flyby as a great opportunity to study the ancient space rock which, fittingly, bore an eerie resemblance to a skull.
The new images revealed a world of pits, pronounced concavities, bright spots that might be boulders, and other complex features that could be ridges.
The radar images have a spatial resolution of four metres per pixel, and were obtained by sending microwaves from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory Deep Space Communications Complex 70-metre antenna at Goldstone, California, toward the asteroid.
This signal bounced off the asteroid which was crossing near the constellation Ursa Major at the time, and its radar echoes were received by the 100-metre Green Bank Radio Telescope in West Virginia.
The first radar images of 2015 TB145 were generated by the giant 305-metre Arecibo Radio Telescope in Puerto Rico a week earlier, and confirmed it is spherical in shape and completes a rotation about once every five hours.
Asteroid 2015 TB145 returns to Earth's neighbourhood in September 2018, when it undertakes a more distant swing past at a more comfortable 38 million kilometres, or about a quarter the distance between the Earth and Sun.

Did little green men from a red planet ever visit us? A lot of us believe they did and a lot of us don't. A lot of us believe they still do, but we aren't looking hard enough.
Apparently, ATC at Delhi's international airport are among them. On Friday, the Air Traffic Controller at Delhi airport reportedly sighted an Unidentified Flying Object and alerted the Indian Air Force.
Recently, an Air Vistara pilot too had reported seeing a laser beam out of nowhere as he was about to land.
The excitement comes just in time for another fascinating event - the scheduled date for an Unidentified Flying Object - more accurately Space Junk - to hit the Indian Ocean on November 13. Most likely an abandoned piece of space debris, the object - which has been given the name WTF1190F, was initially believed to be carrying alien life before more prosaic explanations came to be accepted.
But this isn't India's first brush with the concept of alien life. We've had at least 5 previous instances of UFO sightings that generated serious buzz:
01 1951
For seven minutes, the chief aerial officer at the Delhi Flying Club and some other members claimed they saw a metallic cigar-shaped object - about a hundred feet long, hovering in the sky. It looped around a couple of times, and disappeared at great speed.
02 1957
About 800 villagers in Manbhum, which is essentially present-day Purulia district in West Bengal, claimed they saw an object like a flying saucer.
It reportedly stood still for some time about 500 ft above the ground, then the two sides of the object inflated and it soared up into the skies. Sounds like a picture-perfect UFO dream, except for the 800 people 'witnesses'.
03 2007
2007 - Eastern Kolkata had its UFO moment this year when a blurry bright object blazed through the skies. It was even captured on camera. A Times of India report described it as below:
"The object, as shown on a TV channel, seemed to alter its shape from a round object to a triangle and then turned into a straight line. It emitted a bright light that formed a circle - almost a halo - and also radiated a range of colours."
04 2013
The Indian Army reported sightings, this time along the Line of Actual Control with China, somewhere in Demchok, Ladakh area. A report was duly sent to Army headquarters.
Such sightings have often been reported in this region, some even attributed it to Chinese drones though the Chinese naturally denied it. Another pop theory that's done the rounds is the presence of a secret UFO base somewhere along this-high altitude region - a fact that's covered by mutual agreement by both India and China!
05 2014
This one has a slightly more grounded basis. The Chhattisgarh state department of archaeology and culture reportedly discovered ancient cave paintings, almost 10,000 years old, in Bastar. The paintings supposedly depicted alien like figures and UFOs - sketches of little men with antenna, a flying object with three legs et al.

We've made sci-fi films way before Jadoo was crowned cool by multiplexes. Wahan Ke Log, a 1967 Bollywood film was among the earliest productions to showcase the alien invasion trope to mainstream audiences in India.
A laser ray capable of mass destruction, a diamond hoarder and a bunch of Martians who want all the diamonds they can get (because it's a source of pure carbon, which they need), plus Johnny Walker playing the role of a detective. All accompanied by a trippy dance number called, naturally, Wahan Ke Log. What's not to like?!

Is er leven mogelijk op Mars? Het gerucht gaat de ronde op internet sinds de Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA aankondigde donderdag opnieuw met groot nieuws te komen over de rode planeet.
Het gaat om de resultaten van het MAVEN-project, zegt de NASA. MAVEN is een ruimtesonde die onder andere onderzoekt waarom Mars geen atmosfeer heeft, wanneer die verloren ging en waarom precies.
De ruimtesonde is in 2013 gelanceerd en draait sinds september vorig jaar rond Mars. Met MAVEN proberen wetenschappers inzicht te krijgen in de geschiedenis van de atmosfeer en het klimaat van Mars om zo te kunnen bepalen of de planeet bewoonbaar is.
Enkele weken geleden maakte de NASA nog bekend dat er vloeibaar water op Mars aanwezig is. Volgt vandaag de aankondiging dat er leven mogelijk is op de rode planeet? In ieder geval gaat het volgens het ruimteagentschap om een ‘zeer belangrijke’ onthulling.
Michael Meyer, hoofdwetenschapper van het Mars Exploration Program, zal de persconferentie leiden vanuit het hoofdkwartier van de NASA. De bijeenkomst is donderdagavond om 20.00 uur hier live te volgen.

In oude tijden geloofden mensen dat de Goden speciale voortekenen stuurden om de mensheid te waarschuwen voor komende gebeurtenissen.
Misschien is daar ook nu wel sprake van nu er zich een aantal vreemde zaken voordoen.
Het eerste vreemde voorval is vlakbij onze zon. Daar verscheen op de SOHO telescoop een onverklaarbaar object dat door sommige mensen wordt gezien als een voorteken van de Goden.
Anderen zien er weer een kubusvormige UFO in, maar het is hoe dan ook iets bijzonders.
Dit bijzondere beeld werd wederom “gevangen” door de bekende Youtube gebruiker Streetcap 1 die zelf ook geen flauw idee heeft van wat hij hier heeft gesignaleerd.
Er worden bij de zon wel vaker kubusvormige UFO’s gesignaleerd, maar nog niet eerder een dergelijk mooi exemplaar.
Enkele dagen geleden filmde iemand in Slovakije een vreemd tafereel in de lucht. Wolken die plotseling worden verlicht zonder dat daar een lichtbron zoals de zon te zien is.
Wolken die er trouwens ook allesbehalve natuurlijk uitzien.
Volgens een Facebookpagina die zich bezighoudt met graancirkels en andere mysteries is de volgende opname waarschijnlijk gemaakt op 15 oktober 2015 boven de plaats Medugorje.
Als dit een echte opname is dan is het helemaal bizar want dit is ook de plaats waar talloze Mariaverschijningen zijn waargenomen.
