UFO Encounters in Wales and Manchester: Truth or Myth
UFO Encounters in Wales and Manchester: Truth or Myth
What do you imagine when you hear the word extraterrestrial or UFO? Do you visualize a science fiction novel or an image of bizarre bluish lights illuminating down the road? Have you thought about going home late at night, and you witnessed a flashing light, wondering what it was, only to realize that what you saw was not an alien or extraterrestrial object, but just the lights of a plane. Do you think of little green men, movies, cartoons, or you have just started shaking your head? Despite the arguments regarding UFO’s existence, there are still multiple recorded sightings in the UK. Yes, these sightings are reported by credible witnesses.
According to MUFON, 23 spotted objects were encountered since January 2015 in Manchester, and 25 sightings in Wales. Witnesses described the object as a large craft with a white dot traveling. Throughout the UK, 476 sightings were reported between January 2015 to the middle of February 2016. The objects range from triangular-shaped metallic objects to a red-green ball hovering at greater speed. After M.E.N had published the footage, which shows a strange craft flying, the figures were revealed. Though discussions of these sightings continue, and there has been photo documentation, it is still difficult to know whether or not the unidentified flying objects were indeed from space because such photos are not enough to separate fact from fiction. Extraterrestrial objects have been recorded in America. In fact, 1,177 sightings were reported on the ABC news.
Both the believers and the skeptics obtain evidence to support their claims. Those who believe in UFOs and alien visitations give facts that cannot otherwise be explained. Those who are skeptical offer their explanations and supporting evidence. Which side is right? For now, that is up to you to decide. Sometimes, it is a matter of belief.
3 witnesses abducted onto saucer shaped craft with rainbow lights. Three teenage witnesses were playing basketball from 6 to 9 AM Saturday morning. Weather was clear and sunny and they were across the street from a fire station in Fairview, NJ. While walking back to his friends home noticed that the area was empty of cars and people when normally there would be “50 to 100 people in the park.”
Noticed rainbow colors out of the corner of his right eye rainbow colors. When he looked he saw a shining silver metallic saucer with round tinted windows. He alerted his two friends who also saw the craft. He heard and felt whirring/roaring and his shirt was flapping as if in “a 50 mile an hour wind” but there was no wind. They were paralyzed and could not run. They arrived back at his friend’s home with no memory of walking there. Witness discussed the incident with two friends (both now deceased) and they had no memory of being on the ship as he did. He recalls seeing them on “operating tables” but he was standing approximately 30 feet away. Ship appeared larger inside than outside, possibly 400 feet across. About 25 creatures, approximately 4 feet tall were present with about 10 to 15 around him and the rest around his friends. The creatures were gray in color with large round heads and large black eyes. The creatures were touching him all over. They were speaking telepathically and were surprised when they realized that he could hear them. His mother had told him that there was psychic ability in their family but he had never really believed it. He asked why they were there.
His impression was that they were friendly and curious and meant no harm. He believed that they were trying to help his two friends who both had heart problems and he believes that their lives may have been extended by the aid rendered on the craft. He remembers looking out the window and down onto the basketball court where they had been playing. He could see other beings moving about in long corridors. He remembers seeing the craft ascend after they had been returned. It moved up and to the right, then left, then up and away leaving a rainbow colored trail behind. When he returned to his home his mother said he seemed changed and he replied “it’s no big deal mom.”
Before this report he had only confided this story to his two daughters because he did no believe that anyone would believe him.

This case is under investigation by State Section Director Bob Spearing of MUFON N.J.
A former US Navy whistleblower has vowed to reveal evidence for aliens
The 49-year-old man's startling revelations in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk also include claims other whistleblowers have been killed after trying to lift the lid on extraterrestrial activity.
The man, who says he was a third-class petty officer at a US Naval telecommunications centre during the 1980s, before more senior posts in the US Army and Navy Seals, claims to have valuable new evidence about the Bizarre Rendlesham UK UFO mass sightings, in Suffolk in 1980.
The married man, now living in Ohio, said he was based at NAS Moffett Field, in California, and he was there from February 1986 to October 1989, while also working with contacts in Silicone Valley.
He said: "I have never seen a UFO or ET or alien, however I have seen literally tens of thousand of documents confirming they are real and have visited Earth."
Asked if the files had included photographs of genuine alien crafts and beings, he said: "Yes, absolutely."
The veteran said he was now able to speak because his confidentiality agreement with the US authorities expired in 2014.
Asked why he had not removed some of the pictures or other evidence, he said: "Legally, you are not authorised to walk off with classified information. That is treason and treason is a felony.
"I do not possess anything other than my testimony and documents that authorise that I legitimately had the individual top-secret security clearances.
"But this is a rabbit hole that goes very deep.

The man says he saw thousands of classified documents about aliens and UFOs
"I have no smoking gun evidence and no copies of anything I viewed, but my job was working as US Navy radio man in communications and the job had top-secret clearance to handle this stuff."
The whistleblower, who has asked to remain anonymous, said his first dealing with UFOs came from a more senior colleague.
He described a man in his 60s with higher security clearance telling him about the mysterious Rendlesham Forest case.
The Rendlesham legend has been dubbed Britain's Roswell the famous ‘UFO crash’ outside the town in New Mexico, USA, in July 1947.
The UK alien sighting happened when three US officers based at RAF Bentwaters claimed a "triangular shaped craft" landed in neighbouring woods in the early hours of December 26, 1980.
It has led to several reported sightings on the night by the public and several books and conspiracies.
Our source said of his superiour: “He was the one who initially told me about Rendlesham Forest.
"He came to our air station in 1987.
"He had been at a communications station north of
GETTY
The source is convinced he saw pictures of genuine alien beings
I have never seen a UFO or ET or alien, however I have seen literally tens of thousand of documents confirming they are real and have visited Earth.
Whistleblower
"It was a joint US/UK station and he was there when Rendlesham happened.
"This guy was essentially there with me for three years and really gave me an education.”
The source said he had no contact with his former colleague since they parted, so did not know if the man, who would now be in his 90s, was still alive.
But, the source said he has given a four-hour statement to US-based UFO investigation organisation, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), about what he saw, including what light he can shed on Rendlesham.
He is also working with Nick Pope, a former UK MoD UFO investigator, and plans to release this statement at a later stage.
Turning the strange subject more sinister, he said he had chosen to come forward because he could "shed light on things that might give some people closure."
He said there were colleagues he knew of whose deaths had been connected to aliens or whistle blowing about them and the truth behind how they died had been covered up.
He said: "I held a serious position in the US military, and, if I can shed light on any aspect of any situations to help those individuals for closure, I feel a moral duty to.
"I was under a 25-year obligation not talk about what I saw, read, witnessed, or overheard.
"Now I am at the stage where I can talk freely about certain things.
"The Government wants there to be enough water under the bridge before someone speaks, with incidents like Rendlesham Forest people are emotionally charged.
"They don't want someone to stir up the pot, and I would never compromise national security or servicemens' lives, but people deserve to have answers.”
EXPRESS
Identity concealed: The source says he will be releasing a statement
The whistleblower said no one had died during the Rendlesham incident, but added: "In other cases people have paid the ultimate price and their families have not been told the truth."
He cited one example of an alleged alien whistleblower who was found dead in 1996, with the verdict given as suicide.
But the man claimed this individual had warned friends and family his life was in danger, and if he was found dead it would mean he had been murdered.
Details of this case are widely available online, so the example does nothing to confirm his claims as genuine.
However, Mr Pope, who was charged by the MoD with investigating baffling UK UFO cases, including the Rendlesham incident, said: "I've actually had some personal communication with this individual, and have no doubts about his background.
"It's clear from the language he uses and the information he has that he's a genuine insider.”
There is no way of currently confirming his account, but MUFON is investigating.
The report he filed to MUFON, saying he wants to help reach "disclosure".
The disclosure movement among the UFO fraternity is calling for all world governments to make public all of their top secret files on UFO visitations.
In the report he said: "I personally handled, viewed and delivered thousands of documents involving UFO/ET Projects.
"I would like to share my knowledge in hopes that someone will be able to use it effectively towards disclosure."
Research shows that at the time in question, Moffett Field was a naval air base, but is now a MFA as a restricted federal airfield, run by NASA.
Roger Marsh, MUFON spokesman, said: "This historical case has been assigned to a field investigator within the Californian MUFON group."

See 10 Mysterious ‘UFO Sighting’ Photos From History
These images from the 1950s and 1960s captured the public imagination
The Mar. 25, 1950, issue of Dublin's TeenAge Times claimed that these mysterious objects were flying saucers.
A picture of a flying saucer photographed by farmer Paul Trent, over his farm in Minnville, Ore., on May 11, 1950.
Guy B. Marquand, Jr., who made this picture on Nov. 23, 951, in Riverside, Calif., said the object above the skyline was a "flying saucer." Marquand claimed that he and two friends saw the object fly past at a very high rate of speed, and when it came back, he had his camera ready to
This picture, taken through the window of a laboratory by a 21-year-old U.S. coastguard, shows four unidentified flying objects as bright lights in the sky on Aug. 3, 1952, in Salem, Mass.
This light was photographed on Oct. 16, 1957, when it hovered for 15 minutes near Holloman Air Development Center in New Mexico.
This March 1966 photo was released on May 16 of that year by William Van Horn, the civil defense director of Hillsdale County, Mich., as part of a 24-page report challenging an Air Force conclusion that "swamp gas" caused supposed UFO sightings in the area. Van Horn said conditions at the time were too windy for swamp gas to form.
A New Mexico State University student took this photo of what he said was a UFO, while photographing land formations for a geology class on Mar. 12, 1967.
This is one of three photos of a supposed UFO taken by Rex Heflin, on Aug. 3, 1965, near Santa Ana, Calif.
Robert Rinker, a field technician at the mountain laboratory weather station on Chalk Mountain in Colorado, discovered this unidentified object on a March 22, 1966, negative after he processed it. "I haven't said it's a flying saucer yet," Rinker said when he released the image.
The Amalgamated Flying Saucer Club of America, which headquarters in Los Angeles, released this photo taken by a member reportedly showing a flying saucer on June 16, 1963.
After confusion swept Los Angeles early on Feb. 25, 1942, the report from Western Defense Command was vague: “Unidentified aircraft were reported in the Los Angeles area.”
What was experienced on the ground on that day 74 years ago, however, was very specific. As TIME reported the following week, “LosAngelescitizens crawled out of beds and goggled at the moon. The city had been blacked out. Suddenly, from dozens of Army anti-aircraft posts, searchlights lanced the dark. Orange bursts blossomed in the sky. The city shook with the concussion of ack-ack guns. For almost two hours, except for one 15-minute interval of scary silence, batteries coughed steadily, spewed 1,430 rounds of ammunition into the night.”
For residents for whom the memory of Pearl Harbor was fresh, the possibility of an attack—later dubbed the “Battle of Los Angeles”—seemed very real. But the shot-down plane that the L.A. Times reported on was never found, and the Secretary of the Navy announced that the whole thing had been a false alarm, though Army officials maintained that enemy planes had in fact been sighted in the area.
In fact, it wasn’t until years later, in 1947, that the common flying saucer image of a UFO would begin to sweep through American popular culture. But, in the years that followed, the reports poured in. Here are a few of the early images that captured the imaginations of those who wished—or feared—to discover that we Earthlings might not be alone.

Find Planet Nine! NASA's Saturn Probe Helps with the Hunt
Find Planet Nine! NASA's Saturn Probe Helps with the Hunt
By Calla Cofield, Space.com Staff Writer
The search for a possible ninth planet, far beyond the orbit of Pluto, is being assisted by NASA's Cassini probe, which has been exploring the Saturn system for more than a decade.
The news that a possible ninth planet with a mass 10 times that of Earth could be orbiting in the dark region beyond Neptune lit up the public's imagination in January. The prediction is still just that — a hypothesis, based on modeling, not observation. But the scientists behind the idea say telescope searches of the solar system could confirm (or deny) the prediction within five years.
Now, another group of scientists is showing how the existence of such a planet would affect the motions of the other eight planets. The work relies heavily on measurements taken by the Cassini probe, and aims to narrow down the hunting zone where scientists should point their telescopes as they search for this hidden monster. [The Evidence for 'Planet Nine' in Our Solar System (Gallery)]
The search for Planet Nine
The Cassini probe is a space-based workhorse. It captures breathtaking images of Saturn, makes death-defying dives toward its moons and measures the precise location of Saturn at various times during its orbits around the sun. This latter information is plugged into a model of the solar system that tracks the movement of its largest bodies.
Since the early 1800s, astronomers have tried to use the positions and motions of the known planets to infer the existence of invisible planets, according to a blog post by Mike Brown, a professor of planetary astronomy at Caltech, and one of the scientists who recently predicted the existence of Planet Nine.
In some cases, the influence of one massive body on other massive bodies is obvious: that if the sun were invisible, the orbit of the planets around it would be a dead giveaway that something truly massive was living at the center of the solar system. This technique helped scientists discover Neptune in 1846, and Pluto in 1930.
Brown and his colleague Konstantin Batygin, a professor of planetary science at Caltech, predicted the existence of Planet Nine by observing the peculiar orbits of six relatively large bodies in what's known as the Kuiper Belt, a loop of icy, rocky bodies that includes Pluto.
Other scientists have proposed that the peculiar orbits of these Kuiper Belt objects (KBOs) could be explained another way: Perhaps there are significantly more small rocky objects orbiting the sun beyond Pluto than scientists currently estimate. In the grand scientific fashion, this trading of alternative possibilities continues. Ultimately, observational evidence should settle the debate, and Brown said that if Planet Nine is out there, scientists could reasonably detect it within five years.
The new research could potentially expedite that search by pointing out regions where Planet Nine could not be orbiting and regions where it could.
Planet X May Be Real - Evidence Mounting For 9th Planet | Video
Agnes Fienga, an astronomer at the Côte d'Azur Observatory and a lead researcher on the new work, along with her colleagues, decided to look not only at how Planet Nine might affect bodies in its immediate area, but how it might influence the motions of the other eight planets. They used a computer model of the solar system called the INPOP planetary ephemerides model, which pulls together more than 150,000 individual measurements of solar system bodies, including more than 200 measurements taken by Cassini over about 10 years, Fienga said. That long-term observation of Saturn's motion is very important in increasing the precision of the model and its ability to pick up on the subtle effect of a possible ninth planet, she said.
Brown and Batygin did not propose a specific path that Planet Nine would take through space but rather a possible range in which it could exist, about 20 times farther from the sun than Neptune is. The path of a planet around the sun includes how far it is from the sun, how oblong its orbit is (instead of a perfect circle) and how tilted its orbit is compared to the plane of the solar system.
Fienga and her colleagues selected an orbit for Planet Nine out of the range suggested by Brown and Batygin, and added it to the INPOP model of the solar system. From there, they determined that the planet could not be in certain regions, because it would have caused perturbations in the motions of the other planets that should have been detectable by observations, like those made by Cassini.
Fienga said she and her colleagues are working to perform the same analysis on more possible orbits of Planet Nine, to further narrow down regions where it could or could not be hiding.
The effect of Planet Nine on the inner planets will be subtle, which is why Fienga and her colleagues could draw conclusions about only roughly half of the planet's orbit — the portion where it would be closest to the sun and, hence, the other planets. If Planet Nine were currently somewhere on the far side of its orbit around the sun, its effect would be too small for the measurements used in the INPOP model to predict.
In the paper, the authors said their work disproves the conclusion of another paper using a similar approach, which suggests that Planet Nine could not lie within 1,000 AU of the sun. (1 AU, or astronomical unit, is the distance from the Earth to the sun, about 93 million miles or 150 million kilometers. Neptune is, on average, about 30 AU from the sun.)
"It's a state-of-the-art calculation and a very clever idea," Batygin told Space.com via email. "It is wonderful to see that members of the community are presenting their own proposals on how to best optimize the observational search for Planet Nine. This is exactly what Mike [Brown] and I hoped for."
Starting this year, the Cassini probe will begin a total of 22 dives through Saturn's ring system, ending with the probe intentionally plummeting into the gas giant's atmosphere in September 2017. Meanwhile, the Juno probe will arrive at Jupiter on July 4, 2016. Measurements by Juno will continue to improve the precision of the INPOP model. Fienga said she and her colleagues "expect to increase the size of the forbidden area thanks to Juno."

This event occurred to me at least twelve years ago, and I still don’t know what happened.
Driving home from a Friday night shift at the newspaper, my car’s cruise control set on 55 mph, I drove by a road sign I’ve driven by hundreds of times. It reads, “Orrick: 5 Miles.” Just as I went by, the Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter” came on the radio.
Perfect. I lived in Orrick, Missouri, at the time, and “Gimme Shelter” was not only my favorite Rolling Stones tune, it was also four minutes, thirty-seven seconds long, which would last me all the way home.
Then my drive fell out of reality.
A pull on the car engine snapped me out of the road hypnosis that had overtaken me. It took me a few seconds to realize that pull was the cruise control trying to keep the speed steady up a hill. The trouble was there were no hills between that road sign and my turnoff. Looking out the window didn’t help; a thick fog had enveloped the car and I could barely see the dotted line on the road. I slowed the car and drove up two more hills before I saw a light piercing through the fog.
Turning onto a gravel road toward the light, I found myself in the parking lot of a Jehovah’s Witness church and knew where I was – five miles on the other side of my turnoff. As I sat in the parking lot, my car in park, trying to figure out how I missed the exit, I heard something I couldn’t believe. “Gimme Shelter” still played on the radio. It continued to play for another minute and a half.
After I calmed a bit, I put the car in gear, pulled back onto the highway and went home. The fog quickly dissipated. I’d driven ten miles in three minutes at 55 mph. That wasn’t possible. What happened to me?
Cases of missing time and distance are as common as they are confusing. The Internet is littered with tales of travelers entering a fog only to discover they’re suddenly 300 miles away from home, or they’ve gone nowhere, but it’s inexplicably hours later. Explanations range from time slips, to dimensional slips, to alien abduction. Whatever the case, Brandon White of Maryville, Missouri, has experienced missing time and distance; more than once. “The first time I was about ten and I was walking out in the front yard,” White said. It was just after lunch.
As White went toward a thick ring of pine trees that surrounded his family’s farmhouse, he saw something floating on the other side of the tree line. “It was pale, sort of translucent,” he said. “It was passing between our house and the neighbor’s house. I thought it was a blimp.”
His afternoon suddenly disappeared. “The next thing I remember was coming in for dinner; 5 or 5:30,” he said. “I didn’t think about it at the time. As a kid, time was nothing.”
But five hours of his life were just gone.
In his teens, his life got stranger. “At 13 or 14 I stopped sleeping. I was deathly afraid of sleep,” he said. “I would fall to sleep, get into an REM sleep, and start screaming. I would wake up in strange places. In the yard, on the porch, upside down hanging from my bunk bed.” White said he doesn’t remember when he’s been able to catch more than four hours of sleep a night. “I had very vivid nightmares,” he said. Those nightmares often included a bird. “A big black crow. It would flap over my face, trying to take my breath.”
Later in his teens when White worked at Long John Silver’s in a town 38 miles away, he experienced more missing time. “I was riding my motorcycle. I remember that night very specifically. I worked a double shift,” he said. “Before I left town, I filled up my (gas) tank.” As he pulled onto a gravel road toward his parent’s house, he saw an orange ball hanging low in the sky. “I stopped and thought, ‘the moon’s a weird color,’” he said. “Then I saw it was not the moon. The moon doesn’t block the landscape.” As he got closer, he saw this orange ball was thirty to forty feet in diameter, and hovered five or six feet off the ground.
He got off the motorcycle three hours simply disappeared. “It’s the last thing I remember,” he said. “It was 7:35 p.m. At 10:30 p.m. I pulled into Dad’s driveway and something zoomed over me and disappeared into a valley.”
He stopped the bike and got off, leaving it running as he dashed to a fence to look for the light. It had gone. When he returned to his motorcycle, it started to sputter and the engine died. It was out of gasoline. “I filled it up, drove 38 miles, and it died,” White said.
White lost three hours of time and a tank of gasoline in what should have been a 40-minute motorcycle ride. Was the light responsible?
Years later, when White worked in nearby St. Joseph, Missouri, he stopped at a gas station around 1 a.m. to buy coffee and a candy bar to help keep him awake for the 45-minute drive home. He didn’t know something strange awaited him. “I got on the highway, next thing I knew there was a thick fog,” he said. “I didn’t know where I was. I was on this nameless dirt road.” And he was moving fast.
The narrow road, sloped on each side and covered by a canopy of trees, seemed like a tunnel. He slowed and tried to figure out where he was. “I found a field where I could turn around,” White said. “The fog was so thick I had to open my door to see the side of the road. I had no idea where I was. I was really, really fuzzy and disorientated. I know I was upset about something, but I don’t know why.”
Lights eventually bit through the fog and White pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store near the highway, but things were less than convenient. The store sat at the end of an exit that consisted of two difficult turns. White said he shouldn’t have made those turns. “I would have had to, at 70 mph, gone through those 90-degree turns while I was unconscious,” he said.
When he woke, “I was pretty fuzzy headed. It was like I’d been drugged.”
Although White concedes for the skeptic it’s within the realm of possibility he could have fallen asleep at the wheel and gotten lost in the fogbank, he was miles from where he should have been, and would have had to be amazingly lucky. “I don’t know how I could have made those turns,” he said. “I lost distance and time. I don’t have the foggiest idea how I got there.”
During a budget meeting in Japan’s parliament, Defense Minister Gen Nakatani was asked a question about aliens invading his country and gave this answer:
When the Air Self Defense Force detects indications of an unidentified flying object that could violate our country’s airspace, it scrambles fighter jets if necessary and makes visual observation. They sometimes find birds or flying objects other than aircraft but I don’t know of a case of finding an unidentified flying object believed to have come over from anywhere other than Earth.
Really? Perhaps some of the people of Japan who have been seeing and recording UFOs over the past few years need to give Defense Minister Nakatani a call.
On January 23, 2014, a fleet of UFOs shaped like glowing orbs was observed over Naha, a city on the island of Okinawa. Numerous reports were made by eyewitnesses who said the maneuvers by the group of UFOs lasted for 15 minutes before they flew off.
Japan has many active volcanoes which attract UFOs and, sure enough, two UFOs were spotted two days after the deadly eruption of Mt. Ontake on September 27, 2014. They reportedly came out of the volcano and disappeared into the clouds.
UFOs over Mt. Ontake
Japan has a number of nuclear power plants which are also known to be visited by UFOs. So it’s no surprise that UFOs have been seen numerous times over the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant after the meltdown in 2011. This one was observed in April 2011.
UFO over Fukushima nuclear plant after meltdown
Going back a few years, there’s the famous incident involving a Japan Air Lines Boeing 747 cargo plane traveling from Paris to Tokyo on November 17, 1986, with a load of Beaujolais wine. While flying over Alaska, the crew witnessed two UFOs whose thrusters lit up the cabin and whose heat was felt by the captain. They left quickly but a third, larger UFO showed up and the crew requested to change course, which it did. No explanation was ever given but the crew stuck by their story.
Where was the Air Self Defense Force on these occasions? Haven’t they heard the comments about UFOs from President Obama and John Podesta? Defense Minister Nakatani needs to stop denying and answer a few more questions.
“Every picture tells a story”, as the old saying goes (and yes, as Rod Stewart sang in 1971). This is especially the case when it comes to alleged photographs of unidentified flying objects, where more often than not, the pictures leave much to be desired.
However, in some cases, despite a lack of clear details of the purported craft in question, visual elements in some UFO photos still may help researchers by providing clues about the behavior of the objects they claim to document. Such was the case with a particularly unusual photo shared with me recently, taken on September 23, 1967, which appeared in one of the classic Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO) Bulletin, provided to members of the group for a number of years by the husband-wife team of Jim and Coral Lorenzen.
The photograph came to my attention under rather unusual circumstances. I had been reviewing a number of the old APRO Bulletins, which have been made available online by the folks at OpenMinds here, having been obtained with the private collection of UFO researcher Lt. Colonel (USAF Ret.) Wendelle C. Stevens. Having shared them with a colleague, he recalled having seen “one image in a bulletin that I always thought the neatest and most thought provoking UFO picture I had ever seen (and still do).” Upon receiving the OpenMinds link to the old Bulletins, my friend had recalled the photo from a number of years back, but was unable to recall the date of the Bulletin in which it appeared.
“So, I just randomly hit on one bulletin from the list at Openminds,” he wrote to me quickly afterward in an email. “Guess what? The one I selected and opened in PDF looked familiar. Damn if it wasn’t the EXACT bulletin!!!”
Quite a synchronicity, indeed. I was thrilled that my own honest dispatch of a quick link via email helped my friend recover a long-lost UFO photo of certain interest, but became even more fascinated at the prospect of being able to see if for myself. Scrolling through the short few pages of the newsletter, which dated from March/April 1973, I was able to locate the image quickly, which depicted the alleged “liftoff” of an object at high-speed, as it shot into the skies above Sedona, Arizona, in September 1967.
As mentioned previously of even the “best” UFO photos to have appeared over the years, this one certainly leaves quite a bit to the imagination. However, the analysis of the photograph, described in detail within the APRO Bulletin’s accompanying article, is what makes it interesting.
First, a bit of background. Mr. C. Dwight Ghormley, a retired schoolteacher from Texas, had been visiting his sister in Flagstaff, Arizona, and decided to drive down to Sedona. Just a mile outside Sedona, Ghormley observed a large, silvery object which he had believed was a commercial carrier tank, a little less than a mile from the road. The location of the object seemed inaccessible, and Ghormley, having his Kodak Holiday camera handy, decided to stop and photograph the “tank”. Just as the shutter snapped, he looked back to see that the object was gone, and only a cloud of smoke or dust remained where it had been.
Ghormley nearly forgot the entire incident, having thought he may have been “seeing things”, and thought little of the strange object until some time later, when he had the film developed. The photograph he took seemingly captured the object as it took off into the sky, leaving a long “track” indicating its directional path.
The APRO had certainly been impressed with Mr. Ghormley, whose story indicated he had maintained no interest in the subject of UFOs prior to the experience. However, the photo itself had been heralded by the Lorenzens at the time as “one of the big breakthroughs in UFO research.”
An analysis of the photo was carried out by Dr. James A. Harder, an expert in photography and APRO’s consultant in Civil Engineering at the time (Harder would also go on to become involved in APRO’s investigations of the 1973 Pascagoula abduction incident, involving coworkers Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker, as well as the 1975 Travis Walton abduction case). Of the “Sedona UFO Track” photo, Harder noted that, “From the standpoint of ‘proving’ the existence of UFOs [the photo] might be considered a flop, insofar as no details are seen — there is only what appears to be a sequence of spots. But from the standpoint of understanding more about UFOs it may be one of the most valuable photographs ever taken. For from it, and the data provided by the camera it was taken with, we can infer speeds, accelerations, and find even greater puzzles than we dreamed of a few short years ago.”
Without getting too heavily into the minutiae of Harder’s analysis here (more of whichcan be read in the bulletin), careful calculations based on the shutter speed and focal length of the Kodak camera Mr. Ghormley had used to capture the image led Harder to the following determinations: “At a distance of 4,000 feet from the camera, this represents a transverse distance of 700 feet traversed in approximately 29 ms. The calculated speed is thus on the order of 24,000 feet per second, or 16,000 miles per hour.”
Harder further noted that the estimated speeds of the object, while fast indeed, were nonetheless within the range of speeds which radar systems can detect, referring in his notes to the 1956 Lakenheath, England radar visual UFO case, collected by Project Blue Book. However, one curious feature about the photograph involved the multiple distinct impressions of the object in its direction of motion, rather than a simple line or “smear”. This, according to Harding’s preliminary examination, suggested one of two possibilities: that the craft in the photo had been producing a blinking or flashing illumination as it moved, or that the object was rapidly accelerating and stopping intermittently to complete its course of travel. “This is fast enough,” Harding surmised, “together with the inferred stop-and-go-character of the motion, to raise very basic questions about the mode of propulsion of these UFOs.”
(Note: I would submit that a third potential exists, pertaining to the object’s movement indicated on film: might the effect of the “blinking” have resulted from a spinning object, which, as it rotated gyroscopically, reflected — rather than emitting – light off of a highly reflective surface at various intervals as it moved?)
The questions regarding the object’s locomotion raised numerous unique questions about the mode of operation that some UFOs may utilize. Thus, the unusual, distorted appearance of the object’s flight path in the photo further lent itself, in Harder’s mind, to the photo’s (and Mr. Ghormley’s) credibility.
As a concluding observation, Harder would develop a number of different theories about the underlying mechanisms of UFO craft, based on their behavior indicated in such studies. In 1968, Harder gave a Congressional testimony on the subject, in which he speculated that magnesium, purified of any innate crystalline defects, would be an ideal metal for the construction of a craft similar to those cited in flying saucer reports (he based this on his study of samples of magnesium recovered in Brazil in 1957, purportedly discharged from a UFO that exploded in midair). Harder also studied the UFO observation of chemist Wells A. Webb, who described observing a UFO through polaroid glasses which revealed three dark circular formations that appeared in concentric fashion around the object. Harder guessed that the concentric “rings” Webb observed were evidence of the Faraday effect, which is demonstrated in the video below:
Harder guessed that these elements were evidence of a strong magnetic field produced by the object, which further suggested a gravito-magnetic effect underlying the craft’s mode of propulsion. This notion is similar, in certain regards, to an aircraft envisioned by Nikola Tesla, which he mentioned at various times throughout his life. Whether Tesla’s visions of such an aircraft were ever formalized remains unclear; at the time of Tesla’s death, assistant director of the FBI’s New York office, P. E. Foxworth, was dispatched to his room at the New Yorker Hotel to examine possessions and documents believed to be of vital importance to the U.S. military. It was, after all, 1943, and the Allies were in the heat of conflict against the Axis powers; within two days of Tesla’s passing, representatives of the Office of Alien Property went to his room, where all of his possessions were seized.
The notion that Tesla’s ideas could be somehow related to the UFO mystery has been brought up often over the years, although this concept — and its possible implications — are outside the scope of the present discussion. The question should be offered here, however, as to whether study of the UFO phenomenon, and specific instances of UFO observation such as the “Sedona Track” photo, may yield data about the operation of UFO craft that is paralleled in other literature, or evidential of characteristics that can be confirmed in the various branches of science. If so, the nature and possible mechanism of some alleged “UFOs” may indeed eventually become attainable, rather than simply remaining “mysterious” fodder for the inquisitive among us.

Stargazer Sees Milky Way and 5 Planets Dance in the Night Sky (Photo)
Stargazer Sees Milky Way and 5 Planets Dance in the Night Sky (Photo)
By Nina Sen, Space.com Contributor
The Milky Way and five planets in one stunning image took some patience, but paid off handsomely for skywatcher Matt Smith.
"I knew that I wanted to get the planetary alignment and try to get the Milky Way as well. I finally had my opportunity and found a location with a great view of the Southeast," Smith wrote in an email to Space.com. He took the amazing image from Carthage, Texas on Feb. 10.
On the far right in the trees you can see the bright dot of Jupiter. Further left you can make out rust colored Mars and above the core of the Milky Way you can see Saturn.
Below the core, Venus shines bright, with Mercury near the first rays of sunrise.
Milky Way Quiz: Test Your Galaxy Smarts
Dust off your spiral arms and fatten up your bulge — it's time to tap into your inner galaxy to test your smarts about the Milky Way. Our home in space is a strange and wondrous place that scientists are still trying to figure out. See what you know!
The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy , meaning multiple "arms" sprout from a central region and then swirl around it, like streams of water spiraling down a drain. It stretches between 100, 000 and 120,000 light-years in diameter. It is estimated that the galaxy has approximately 400 billion stars.

We've traced a mysterious fast radio burst to its home galaxy for the first time http://ow.ly/YIaVl
Indian police examine the wreckage of the UFO (inset)
The balloon-like white object was intercepted by an Su-30 MKI fighter jet after it triggered a radar alert flying over Barmer, Rajistan, near the border with Pakistan, on Tuesday, as reported by Express.co.uk.
Now, officials are convinced it came across the border from Pakistan, and was not an extraterrestrial UFO as some alien investigators had suspected.
Government sources have told Indian media it was suspected it may contain a bomb, but no such device was found in the debris.
One theory is it was "a possible move by the neighbour to test India’s response" to an unexpected aircraft.
It has emerged the three-metre wide balloon appeared between 10.30am and 11am as the 67th annual Republic Day parade was happening in New Delhi.
Rounds fired at the balloon were said to be from the fighter’s 30mm GSh-301 auto cannon.
According to a Government source, the balloon had "Happy Birthday" printed on it - in an apparent reference to the anniversary.
Defence minister Manohar Parrikar said: "Our radars picked up a shiny flying object entering Indian airspace.
"A fighter jet was quickly scrambled which intercepted it and shot it down.”

Stills from Indian TV news clips showing the actual object
An IAF spokesperson said on Wednesday: “Due to heightened security alert, the balloon was shot down as it could have been carrying unknown payload.
"However, on the analysis of the debris it was established there was no dangerous payload.”
Rajasthan police said residents of Gugdi village, about 20km from Balotra town near Kishor Singh Ki Dhani area, had first reported hearing an “explosion”, followed by similar reports from Panawada village in Baitu area.
Police were sent to both areas.
Five solid metal triangles recover among the wreckage have added to the mystery.
Local speculators suggest it could have been just a meteorological weather balloon from India or Pakistan.
ABP
News channels also mocked up an image of the suspected balloon
Several books have been written about the incident.
Scott C waring, editor of UFO Sightings Daily, remains in the "it was an alien craft camp".
He blogged: "Its not everyday a UFO gets shot down.
This one is thought to be a balloon with a bomb tied to it.
"It looks like a giant cloud orb to me.
"Sometimes if they are struck by lightning, they can malfunction and fall to the Earth.
"It was enough of a threat that they called out fighter jets to shoot it down.
"It took 97 shots and no harmful payload was found. Why would they care about a balloon? "If balloons were a threat, Los Angeles would have a squadron of fighters jets at war in the sky over Disneyland."

Whistleblower about to 'lift lid on 1000s of UFO files' is GENUINE, says ex-MoD man
Whistleblower about to 'lift lid on 1000s of UFO files' is GENUINE, says ex-MoD man
A FORMER US Naval officer who claims his secrecy agreement with the American Government has expired is vowing to lift the lid on thousands of top-secret UFO files he claims to have seen.
Retired Colonel Charles Halt, the most senior former US servicemen to go public about UFOs and Rendlesham
The man, who says he was a third-class petty officer at the Naval Telecommunications Center within NAS Moffett Field from February 1986 to October 1989, also claims he can shed light on the mysterious mass-UFO sighting involving military personal in 1980.
He has yet to be named, but a former British MoD UFO investigator confirmed to Express.co.uk the man is a genuine source, creatinga flurry of excitement within the UFO disclosure community.
Nick Pope, who was charged by the MoD with investigating baffling UK UFO cases, including the Rendlesham incident, said: "I've actually had some personal communication with this individual, and have no doubts about his background.
"It's clear from the language he uses and the information he has that he's a genuine insider."
But Mr Pope stopped short of encouraging the whistleblower to come outinto the open.
He added: "While my own secrecy oath means I can't encourage anyone to divulge classified information without proper authority, I'm obviously very interested in his story.
"As I conducted the MoD's cold case review of the Rendlesham Forest incident I'm particularly keen to hear about anything that would shed new light on this case."

News of the World reports of Rendlesham at the time
The UK alien sighting happened when three US officers based at RAF Bentwaters claimed a "triangular shaped craft" landed in neighbouring woods in the early hours of December 26 1980.
It has led to several reported sightings on the night by the public and several books and conspiracies.
The man, who has not been publicly named, is claiming the US National Security Agency (NSA) and the UK Government had a going project looking at UFO sightings, including Rendlesham in the 1980s.
He has filed a report to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) - the world's biggest official alien investigation organisation based in the US, saying he wants to help reach "disclosure".
The disclosure movement among the UFO fraternity, is calling for all world Governments to make public all their top secret files on UFO and flying saucer visitations.
In the report filed on Saturday he said: "I'm not reporting a UFO sighting rather a UFO related experience.
"I have copies of my security clearances.
"I personally handled, viewed and delivered thousands of documents involving UFO/ET Projects.
"My secrecy agreement with the US Government expired in October 2014.
I have copies of my security clearances. I personally handled, viewed and delivered thousands of documents involving UFO/ET Projects.
US Navy alleged whistleblower
"At this point in my life I would like to share my knowledge in hopes that someone will be able to use it effectively towards disclosure."
He said he was given TS SBI/ESI NATO/SIOP Compartmental Security Clearance, which is Top Secret clearance for working in Special Background Investigation, Single Integrated Operation Plan, Exceptionally Sensitive Information and with NATO.
He added: "In addition we had a GS11 employee who was transferred from a Joint US/UK communication station north of London after working at that site for a dozen years.
"He said it was an National Security Agency (NSA)/UK facility tasked with tracking UFO including Rendalsham Forest Incident.
"He said that UFO/ET were real and that hopefully disclosure would happen in my lifetime since he was in his early 60s at the time."
In the report he said: "I was required to deliver TS Code word designation COSMIC to SRI, ESL/SYLVANIA, LOCKHEED SKUNKWORKS, TRW, RATHEON, BERKELEY LABS, LAWRENCE LIVERMORE LABS, and other think tanks throughout Silicon valley."

Military fencing around the former RAF Bentwaters base still said to be a UFO hotspot

Drone Over Area 51 Catches Great Rare View, Feb 2016, 3 Videos, UFO Sighting News.
Date of footage: February 22, 2016 Location of footage: Area 51, Nevada This amazing footage was recorded using an RC drone with a HD camera on it. Hans Faulknerof Youtube wanted to learn more about the top secret USAFB, so he took a short flight over the edges of the base. Its very brave of him to share this footage on line since it does break a few laws and endanger his security. I imagine it wont be long before the public gets robotic drones that will pass over the base and return hours later with great footage. The military will have a hard time finding these tiny drones since the newest and smallest one I saw was an inch and a half in diameter with a live cam on it. Sadly todays batteries are the last of the ancient tech to be upgraded. Imagine what a drone with a telescope lens would see. Hats off to Hans Faulkner for beautiful and rare view of Area 51. Please stop at his video and give him a thumbs up for support. Scott C. Waring www.ufosightingsdaily.com

Date of sighting: February 14, 2016 Location of sighting: Los Angeles, California, USA Jump to the end of this video and you will see that this person caught an alien drone that decided to check out this balloon. Alien orbs are AI drones that record everything that passes their area. This one slowed down enough to get a fantastic capture of it. Its actually not round, but tear drop shaped with edges. A monumental catch by UFO researcher Maria Argote. Scott C. Waring www.ufosightingsdaily.com Eyewitness states: This is my luck. This perfectly round orb came around 3 times. The final time, I decided to shut things down and an small orb came into the picture. Here is the breakdown. Amazing capture at an amazing event. This is one of several crazy things that showed up.

Date of sighting: July 23, 2019
Location of sighting: Military base Davamti, Russia Tercer Milenio TV has recently aired a new show showing a series of films that have documented movement of balls of light around the world. One of the most interesting of these recordings took place on July 23, 2009 by an infrared camera that was placed outside a Russian secret military base. That evening at 9:39 pm a military operator safety officer was monitoring the video surveillance cameras when he noticed the presence of a bright ball of light that slowly descended from the sky. It moved over the surface of the water of the dl Moskva River, which is right at the base davamti. The camera follows the bright orb as it moves downward and then follows it as it continues moving. The glowing object seems to be searching for something at the waters surface. You can even see the orbs reflection in the water below it. The reflection is 100% proof that it is close and over the water, and not far away. Infrared cameras can see a light spectrum that is invisible to the human eye. Thats why so many sky watchers are trying to get their hands of an IR camera.
