Alien Hunters Observe A UFO Hovering Above Sydney, Australia
Alien Hunters Observe A UFO Hovering Above Sydney, Australia
UFO & Paranormal Research Society of Australia (UFO-PRSA) gather on a regular basis to talk about UFO sightings, alien abductions, and other unexplained phenomena.
Guest speakers, including scientists, authors, ufologists, hosted the group in public meetings held once a month at the Campbelltown Arts Centre.
Members of the group are composed of students, lawyers, and retirees who share one common belief and that is the truth is out there.
Mainstream media usually disregard theories that extraterrestrials are out there.
One member said there’s evidence that ETs have already come to Earth and this evidence is publicly available. All people should do is to look for it, the member added.
The group said that people should know what is going on instead of waiting for the government to pull the cover over the eyes. It claimed that astronauts and pilots are now coming out of the woodworks.
Another member, who is a Sydney public servant, believes aliens have been visiting her since she was nine-years-old.
The anonymous UFO believer said that she saw a gray humanoid in her room behind the wardrobe with about the same height as her when she was a child. She claimed that she wasn’t afraid of it because it was her friend that just wanted to be with her.
Author of “Contact Down Under: A Century of UFO sightings in Australasia and the Western Pacific,” researcher Moira McGhee believes aliens do exist and that they even have sexual intercourse.
She said they received reports of men being abducted and women have their way with them. There are reports too of women having their eggs taken.
Former lawyer Moira believes in alien life but admits that most ET evidence is difficult to prove or explain.
Moira explains in her book that researchers don’t need to agree with everything people say, but the worst thing researchers can do is to close their mind. Moira adds that researchers should believe anything is possible, but should also have a big dose of skepticism.
Even one of alien-related reports is true; it will surely change humanity forever, says Moira.
A huge boomerang-shaped UFO was spotted and filmed in Dunedin. The witness, who doesn’t want to be named, estimated it to be about 200 to 300 feet across and appeared to be escorted by three other flying objects.
The witness reported his sighting to Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), which is filed as case 41685. According to the report, the sighting started at around 8:40 p.m. while driving southbound on Keene Road, just north of Sunset Boulevard. The witness was with two other persons when the incident took place.
As the reporting witness drove along, he and his companions saw mysterious lights in the sky. The witnesses got a better look of these lights as they got closer to them. It was the time they realized that the lights were coming from four large aerial objects.
The driver witness pulled over, and the two other witnesses started watching the aerial activity in amazement at the side of the road. The reporting witness managed to take a video of the spectacle, but his mobile phone video produced a poor quality result.
The witness claimed that the boomerang-shaped UFO was the largest among the four mysterious objects. It had four lights that were blinking, and others were constantly shining.
The second UFO flew about 20 feet to the left of the largest UFO in a wingman position. The third one was trailing the boomerang UFO at about half-a-mile at a distance. The fourth one appeared tethering with bright white strobe.
Moments later, the boomerang-shaped flying object started releasing orbs, which were dimly visible in the night sky and vanished a few seconds later after being launched.
Footage Shows What Looks Like A Giant UFO Traveling Across The Sky Above California
Footage Shows What Looks Like A Giant UFO Traveling Across The Sky Above California
Amazing footage has been shared online showing an apparent massive spaceship traveling in a cloud cover.
Apparently recorded on October 10, 2016, in California, the video shows a spaceship look alike object flying across the sky in a cloud formation that seems to move with it.
Many viewers see it as unidentified flying object uncloaking itself. They say it looks like a flat circular plate hiding in the cloud. Some note that the clouds are moving around the UFO and since the center is lower than the rest of the UFO, it is being exposed.
They also gave a reason why the outer edge is also exposed. They say it is because the craft itself is moving at a slightly different speed than the cloud it is in.
Other viewers further suggested a reason why the UFO becomes visible for few minutes. They say that heavy winds and the perfect angle of the sun hitting the UFO cause it to become visible.

Amazing video of UFOs over Las Vegas, Nevada 11-Oct-2016
Here’s one interesting footage of an unidentified flying object flying over Blue Diamond Hills near Las Vegas, Nevada.
Witness report:
I shot this video from my backyard in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas, Nevada on the night of October 11, 2016. I was able to get both the camcorder and night vision cameras on this object. I wasn’t sure if it was on a distant mountain or if it was in the air until it began to move towards the city. It traveled in a level horizontal path which tells me it was in the air. It would be impossible for it to be on the ground because the hills back there are so uneven and there are no perfectly straight roads in that area.
UFO Expert Found Dead On A Sofa Days After Texting His Mother He Was In Trouble
UFO Expert Found Dead On A Sofa Days After Texting His Mother He Was In Trouble
Conspiracy theorist Max Spiers was discovered dead on a sofa just days before giving a talk about conspiracy theories and UFOs. The father of two, 39, sent a text message to his mother that reads “If anything happens to me, investigate” days before his death.
Max Spiers was found lifeless on a sofa in Poland, where he was scheduled to give a talk about UFOs and conspiracy theories.
Despite the absence of post-mortem examination, it was earlier ruled that he died from natural causes.
However, his mother Vanessa Bates, 63, cannot rule out the possibility that somebody wanted his son to be dead because of Max’s dark investigations into government cover-ups on the truth about UFOs.
Just days before his death he sent a text message to his mother that reads
“Your boy’s in trouble. If anything happens to me, investigate.”
Lived in America for a few years, Max had returned home in Canterbury to stay with his mother before going off to Poland.
Vanessa said that her son was becoming famous in the world of conspiracy theorists and had been invited to speak in Poland at a conference in July.
Max had made a living out of investigating alleged UFO sightings and cover-ups. He was said to be digging into the lives of well-known personalities in politics, entertainment, and business more recently.
Many online followers believe government agents have something to do with Max’s death because of his unexplained death and the subsequent treatment of it by the authorities.
Conspiracy theorists have long been suggested that secret services or popularly known as men in black tend to bump off UFO researchers who are already too close to the truth.
Online fans have requested the authorities to release the details surrounding Max’s mysterious death and called for an autopsy.
According to mother Vanessa, Max was in good health and a very fit man, and yet he just died suddenly on a sofa.
Vanessa was wondering why the Polish authorities concluded that Max died from natural causes even without conducting a post-mortem.
She further revealed in the media that Polish authorities refused to release any paperwork about it to her because she doesn’t have his writing permission. Vanessa found the reason absurd. Max was buried in Canterbury Cemetery a week after his death.
Pathologist in East Kent reportedly carried out a post-mortem examination on Max’s dead body. However, Vanessa said that she did not know the result even after two months the test was conducted or whether there will be an inquest.
She said her son had not suffered any visible physical injuries but could have been poisoned slowly, making the results of toxicology tests from post-mortem so critical.
Vanessa promised to get the truth of his son’s mysterious death as his sister Becky and brother Josh, as well as his two boys, will also continue to fight to get to the truth.

Blue sphere in the sky above Council Bluffs, Iowa 25-Sep-2016
Here’s one new footage of a bright blue/purple sphere hovering in the night sky above US state Iowa. This was filmed on 25th September 2016.
Witness report:
Outside with dog. Am near C.B. small airport so I know what airplanes look like at nite. Looked up and saw purple blue round object soaring across sky from east to west behind neighbors house to north of mine. Looked to be at a distance away. I thought it was a meteor, but then saw hovering in sky, so went in house to get cell phone. Recorded part of experience. The whiter colors in recording are house landscape lights of neighborhood, but the blue purple light you will see hovering then disappear. Next i saw it from behind my house at approximately same distance away, but could not get good video as was partially covered by trees. then disappeared and moved to different location back to where I saw originally from front of house. I did not see it move, just disappear, then reappear. Noise you hear on recording is traffic from Hwg 92. Twice in one spot and once in the other spot. Looked like it could have been located somewhere between Hwy 92 and Hwy 6 in C.B. I read a similar sighting in Atlantic Ia same nite and moving in my direction. Might be same?
Amazing daytime UFO sighting over Guangzhou, China
Amazing daytime UFO sighting over Guangzhou, China
Here’s one interesting UFO footage of a mass sighting that was filmed over Guangzhou, China. This happened on 11th April 2016.

UFO Over China Turns The Street Into Parking Area
City people seems to stop and stare a UFO that appears in the sky above them. A dashboard camera of a car reportedly captures the entire event. It shows people stopping, staring and capturing either a photo or video of the UFO. The crowd builds up in a highway and makes the street like a parking lot. People get out of their cars and start capturing the UFO with their cameras and mobile phones.
The video is reportedly taken in Guangzhou, China back in April, but only gone viral after it was uploaded to YouTube by a UFO blogger. He says that this is a fantastic example of a huge UFO over China. The uploader suggests to the viewer to view the video in full screen to notice the UFO wobbles as it moves.
It looks like a disk UFO and perhaps spinning as it moves just like many other UFOs being reported in the past, the uploader explains.
However, some express skepticism about it being a real event.
Social media user Maverick says that it is funny that this is the only source of the video on YouTube considering so many people in the video were also recording this alleged mysterious event. Another viewer says that it looks like the video shows a part of a commercial.
Another user adds that this is very fake after noticing that the UFO bounces as the camera bounces, making it clearly composed.
Bright Lights Moving Around The UK Skies Spark UFO Claims
Bright Lights Moving Around The UK Skies Spark UFO Claims
Video of white lights in the sky gets alien hunters into a frenzy amid claims they are alien spacecraft visiting Earth.
YouTube user Wayne Austin uploaded the video to the video sharing site on September 27. He asks the viewers to help him identify the strange lights above Chesterfield in Derbyshire.
According to reports, many people around Manchester claimed to have seen the same strange phenomenon.
The YouTube video shows two lights moving in a random manner in the sky.
Houfton Road, Bolsover resident Fiona Jordan described the UFOs as little cloudy lights in the sky, and they were like dancing.
Jordan said that she noticed the UFOs when she just let her dogs out before going to bed. She claimed to have seen a total of four UFOs – one above the house of her neighbor and three over another house in her neighborhood.
Jordan observed the unidentified flying objects for around 20 minutes. She also revealed that her son in Carr Vale also saw the same things about two or three nights ago.
Some conspiracy theorists believe that these lights are UFOs, which usually perform for the witness with loops or return to observe the witness while keeping distance for 5 to 10 minutes.
However, skeptics have more conventional explanation saying that the lights were simply beams from a circus or another event for entertainment purpose.
Homeowner’s CCTV Catches a UFO Flying over Roofs in the Night Sky
Homeowner’s CCTV Catches a UFO Flying over Roofs in the Night Sky
Diane Veard was surprised to see an out of this world object through the security camera she installed in her home.
Diane was in Greece with her partner and three children for a vacation. Concerned about burglaries in their neighborhood, the couple went online to check their home from their security camera, but they were shocked to discover the device had caught what seemed to be a spaceship.
The motion-activated camera had caught an apparent intruder sneaking around outside their house with a torch. The couple kept on watching and got surprised to see an unidentified flying object. Unknown causes triggered the camera for the second time in the footage from 11:20 p.m. on August 15. The screen shows a bright white light streaking across the sky through a gap between two houses across the street.
The bright light seems to turn quickly and move fast in a different direction. Diane, 48, said that they had installed the camera to look for a thief because there has been a lot of robberies in their area.
They are not sure the reason as to why the light triggered the second time. Diane said that they have a cat, but he was in the cattery while they were away from home.
Since the couple had seen an apparent intruder, they kept watching the video. They were expecting to see someone a little later, but there was nothing. Then they saw the strange light in the sky.
According to Diane, the light has a tail, making her speculate at first that it was a meteor. But changed her mind when it turned around in the sky and set off in the other direction at high speed.
Diane’s partner Michael Smith said in jest that it was a flying saucer after watching the video from their hotel in Ixia, Rhodes. The couple’s three children, Honor 13, Alexandria, 14, and the eldest Olivia, 17, were equally astounded too.
The video had received mixed comments after Diane posted it on Facebook with some linked it to the annual celestial event, Perseid meteor shower, which peaked a few days before the video was recorded.
However, Diane of Bolton, Greater Manchester is convinced that no meteors can turn around 90 degrees in the sky.
The family also thought it could be a drone, but they know that the drone usually have a flashing light and don’t have the ability to move that fast.
NASA has been accused multiple times of hiding evidence every time it seems to cut off a live stream from the International Space Station (ISS) when an apparent UFO appears on the screen.
Recently, UFO enthusiasts noticed a blue light on the live stream from the ISS but accused the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of cutting the live feed quickly. They claim that the space agency did not want the people to watch the UFO when it appeared.
UFO hunters spotted the phenomenon while watching the live stream from the International Space Station on the 30th of September 2016. The mysterious blue light that appears to hover the Earth was circulated quickly as the latest proof of extraterrestrial life.
Critics, however, dismiss the alien speculation and suggest that the light is just a solar flare. However, believers firmly think it is a solid object reflecting sunlight and flying close to the ISS in low earth orbit.
They further speculate that the UFO is brighter on the left side because of the light from the Sun, dismissing the lens flare suggestion.
YouTube user Streetcap1 posted the video in the commercial video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips. He says that the UFO was very distant but still managed to get enough framesto enlarge.
What ‘Star Trek’ May Have Right—and Wrong—About Alien Life
What ‘Star Trek’ May Have Right—and Wrong—About Alien Life
Will we ever salute Vulcans or cuddle tribbles? An astrobiologist explores the latest thinking on the forms alien life might really take.
By Andrew Fazekas
Over an illustrious 50-year history, Star Trek TV shows and movies have introduced audiences to some of the most famous fictional aliens. Be they Klingons, Cardassians, Vulcans, or tribbles, the Trek universe abounds with distinct and diverse extraterrestrials.
In the past few decades, scientists have developed exquisitely sensitive equipment to search for other habitable worlds and to hunt for greetings from across the cosmos. To date, astronomers have found more than 3,500 planets beyond our solar system, and they calculate that many more remain undiscovered. (See how aliens might contact us using giant laser doodles.)

Even more exciting, we’ve found handfuls ofplanets that seem to be in the so-called habitable zone—the region around a star where the temperature is just right for liquid water to exist on a planetary surface. Water is a key ingredient for life as we know it, and its presence seems to have driven biological development right from the start.
“The fact that on Earth life emerged quickly just after conditions became habitable suggests that this could happen often in other systems, too,” says Daniel Apai, an astronomy and astrobiology researcher at the University of Arizona and the NASA Astrobiology Institute.
“Life persisted for about four billion years on Earth and survived a variety of planetary challenges, suggesting that it is very difficult to ‘sterilize’ a planet once it’s taken a foothold,” he adds. “So chances are good that life is relatively common in the galaxy.”
Spreading Seeds
If we ever do find aliens, would they be anything like the beings that populate Star Trek? While the show writers have imagined some highly unique creatures, from non-corporeal energy beings to intelligent clouds, most aliens encountered by the Enterprise crew have been carbon-based life-forms that are all too often humanoid.
The striking similarity between humans and the show’s most famous aliens, including Romulans, Vulcans, and Andorians, has been a point of contention with many fans over the years. In Star Trek: The Next Generation, the franchise writers attempted to explain this convenient lack of biological diversity using a real scientific theory called panspermia.
Proponents of this theory argue that life on Earth may have been seeded by hardy microbes—or at least, by raw ingredients such as amino acids—that traveled here via comets or asteroids. While there’s no direct evidence to back up this claim, missions such as the Rosetta orbiter have found the building blocks of life on comets, and we know tough organisms such as tardigrades can survive unprotected in space.
Scientists also believe early Earth was bombarded by meteors, which could have delivered a “starter kit” for life from elsewhere in the galaxy.
Building on the panspermia concept, Star Trek suggested that an ancient humanoid life-form intentionally seeded worlds around the Milky Way, creating new species that assumed their basic shape. While each of these species may have split off on its own evolutionary path, they are all essentially long-lost relatives. (Find out how Star Trek is right about almost everything.)
While there is a case for panspermia, chances are slim that we will encounter humanoid life-forms in the real universe, Apai argues. Some theories suggest that local environmental conditions and evolutionary events left to chance will most likely shape the future of any life-form, making it totally unique.
“While there are examples for parallel evolution in the terrestrial biosphere—for example, similar eyes evolving in very different, unrelated species—it seems unlikely to me that we would encounter alien life that would be humanoid,” says Apai.
It’s a Small Galaxy?
Instead, given the only example we have, some researchers suggest that the most common form of life across the galaxy may be what’s most abundant here on Earth: microbes.
“On Earth, it took only a relatively brief period for life to emerge and reach the capability to photosynthesize, but it took billions of years for complex animals to emerge, and intelligence and technical civilization have only been present for about 0.000001 percent of Earth’s past,” says Apai. In other words, our planet’s history has been dominated by a wide array of microscopic life.
There’s also a good chance that the basic molecular building blocks we see on our world will be common throughout the universe.
The horta was a silicon-based life form in Star Trek.
COURTESY CBS
“Given the availability and its chemical properties, it is a good guess that carbon may often be the key species that provides the backbone, the molecular scaffolding, for biomolecules,” says Apai.
Still, astrobiologists are trying not to be too Earth-centric in their theories about alien life—there’s always the chance that if we do manage to find extraterrestrials, we’ll stumble upon silicon-based creatures like the horta or sentient minerals like the crystalline entity.
“We are looking for everything we can find and trying to exclude no possibilities that we can conceive,” says Apai. “Of course, I am still certain that we will be surprised when we will first be able to study extraterrestrial life.”
A student working on his PhD in folklore at Memorial University of Newfoundland is digging into the mystery surrounding an unidentified flying object that crashed into Shag Harbour, N.S., 49 years ago.
Noah Morritt isn't like the many UFO enthusiasts that travel to the small fishing village, he's less interested in the object itself and more in the effect the story has had on the town.
Back on Oct. 4, 1967, people in Shag Harbour saw a light drop from the sky, hover over the water then disappear into the harbour. Many eyewitnesses who saw the light assumed a plane had gone down.
RCMP officers on the scene also reported a plane had gone in the water, said Morritt. No wreckage was ever found and no planes were reported missing. Divers were sent into the harbour and also came up with nothing.
"How did we get from plane crash to UFO? What does it mean for the people in Shag Harbour? What does it mean to live in a community where there was a UFO crash?" said Morritt.
"I think there's more to Shag Harbour than just a UFO."
The Shag Harbour Incident Interpretive Centre in Shag Harbour houses information related to the UFO sighting in the community.
(shagharbourincident.wordpress.com/museum/)
The incident has led to changes in Shag Harbour — there is a volunteer group called the Shag Harbour UFO Incident Society focused on promoting and preserving materials connected to the crash.
A small museum dedicated to the incident and an annual UFO symposium is held in the community.
There's also a stream of tourists who want to get a closer look at the alleged crash site.
Research almost complete
Morritt has spent five weeks in Shag Harbour researching both the incident and how residents responded to it.
He said most people accept what happened as a part of their town's history, but would still like answers about what happened.
"The object itself, the thing that crashed into the harbour always remains elusive, so I really think there's a desire for closure," said Morritt.
Laurie Wickens is one of those people who would like some answers, he was an eyewitness to what happened in 1967.
"We always thought it was an airplane, but when you stop and think about it now... there's nothing conventional that could fly that slow ... whatever it was, I ain't got no idea," said Wickens.
Bus tour offered
The UFO symposium in Shag Harbour just finished for this year, it included for the first time a bus tour that traced the route Wickens followed after spotting the UFO's lights back in 1967.
The tour ended on the harbour's shoreline where Wickens stopped to and watched the lights hover above the water.
Wickens helped organize the event, he said 28 people took part in the tour.
"If you do the tour, people can really get an understanding of really what happened and really where everything was seen," said Wickens.
He wanted to run the tour as a test for next year, which will mark the 50th anniversary of the incident in Shag Harbour and will be accompanied by an even bigger celebration.
Noah Morritt hopes to be back for the event with a rough draft of his doctoral thesis.
The Charleston area has a stellar history with UFO sightings. After digging through the newspaper’s archives, we’ve found some fascinating stories that are too good to keep to ourselves.
Every Thursday, we will do just that: Dig through the archives to bring you entertaining, meaningful and interesting stories from our past.
Some (like this one) should make you laugh.
Others (we hope) will make you think.
Video: Radio signal sparks alien life speculation
For this first installment of “To the Archives!” we’re thinking big — out of this world big.
Here are a few of the interactions the Lowcountry has had with the extraterrestrial.
1973: What’s that on the horizon?
Ten callers reported seeing a UFO to both police and The News and Courier on Sept. 30, 1973.
According to an Oct. 1, 1973 article in The News and Courier, the object appeared to be the size of a large star and could be seen with the naked eye, even though members of the City Fire Department had a telescope trained on the object.
James Howard, a firefighter, told the newspaper that the object started out higher in the sky before it moved steadily northward. He also said it looked bright with red and green lights blinking around.
The best details about the event would come later in a 1986 article published in the Feb. 2, 1986 edition of The News and Courier/The Evening Post.
One of the reporters who was tasked with covering the sighting in 1973 said they saw it, too.
“The reporter didn’t say whether he thought spacemen were inside,” the 1986 article said.
Wedged alongside letters published in the May 31, 1978 edition of the Charleston News and Courier was a letter unlike the rest.
A North Charleston mechanic by the name of William J. Hermann said he had beef with an article written about UFOs. The reason why, he wrote, was because he believed they were real.
He also sent in a picture.
A profile of Hermann the following year would go on to tell just how intense his experience had been.
Hermann told the newspaper that he was abducted by aliens not once, but twice. He claimed both incidents happened between October 1977 and March 1978.
“Their skin was the color of a marshmallow. Their eyes were long and dark with a brown iris. Their heads looked like overgrown human fetuses with no ears or hair. I heard a voice telling me to have no fear...” Hermann said.
Hermann said he did not remember the first incident until extraterrestrials sent him a strange-looking metal bar with the letters “MAN” on it. Only then, he said, did he remember the March 1978 abduction
“I’m the token UFO guy,” Hermann told The Post and Courier in 1981.
But he wouldn’t want that title for long.
Two years later, he washed his hands of all of it when he wrote a letter to the editor. He called the UFO phenomena “satanic in nature, demonic in origin.”
1989: ‘It was a monstrous looking thing’
On a later summer night in 1989, seven people saw something fly across the sky while they were standing in a parking lot near Rivers Avenue and Remount Road
At first, they thought it was a plane.
Then, they weren’t so sure.
A July 17, 1989 article published in The Post and Courier describes the flying object:
“It was a dark shapeless object 300-500 feet long, and fiery white and yellow sparks were shooting out of what seemed to be its tail end. Its front end appeared to be glowing.
It didn’t have any other lights or windows. It was about 1,500 feet in the air, moving slowly, and had just passed soundlessly above them from north to south.”
When Bessie Dixon asked what it was, no one could answer her question.
The object that went soaring across the sky was so large that it was seen streaking across the sky in Myrtle Beach.
Leo Martin told The Post and Courier by phone that he had never seen anything like it.
“I looked up and saw an enormous ball of fire with a tremendous tail. I’m former Air Force and have never seen anything like that.”
Martin also took a video of the incident, and sold the footage to ABC for an undisclosed price.

UFO: The unidentified flying object was captured on film in the skies over Chew Moor
A FAMILY who installed a security camera after a spate of burglaries in their neighbourhood were staggered to find the device had captured a UFO on screen.
Diane Beard was on holiday in Greece with her partner and three children when they went online to check footage from their Chew Moor home on August 15.
Keen to keep an eye on their empty house, they were startled to see that the motion-activated camera had caught a would-be intruder prowling around outside their house with a torch.
But a bigger shock was to come.
Footage from 11.20pm the same night shows the camera trigger for a second time by sources unknown – and then something remarkable occurs in the skies over Bolton.
Through a gap between two houses across the street, a bright white light can be seen streaking across the sky in the distance.
The light then appears to turn abruptly and travel at high speed in a different direction.

“We’ve had the camera a few months. We were actually looking for a thief. There has been a lot of robberies,” said Diane, 48.
“We didn’t know what triggered the light the second time. It couldn’t have been our cat, Alfie, as he was in the cattery while we were on holiday.
“But because we’d seen this intruder earlier, we kept watching the video.
“We were thinking that someone might appear, but there was nothing. Then we saw the light in the sky. I’ve never seen anything like it before.
“The light has a tail following it, so I thought it could be a meteor. But a meteor doesn’t turn around in the sky and set off in the other direction. It was going at some speed.”

NASA Rocket Brings Home Cosmic X-Ray Answers — and a New Mystery

A NASA sounding rocket zoomed above Earth's atmosphere, confirming one interstellar source for X-rays and one more local one — and discovering others whose origin remains a mystery.
NASA's rocket, called the Diffuse X-ray emission (DXL) rocket, discovered that some of the X-rays that bombard Earth's atmosphere likely come from the "Local Hot Bubble," which is believed to be a zone of hot interstellar material surrounding the solar system. While the bubble has been hypothesized since the 1990s, DXL showed that its existence is likely true.
Other X-rays happen as a part of solar wind exchange. The solar wind is a constant flow of charged particles from our sun; because the gas is ionized — it includes charged particles and the electrons separated from them — the solar wind can carry electric and magnetic fields. At times, the solar wind pushes into neutral gas (where electrons and ions are more tightly bound), and "excites" the electrons in this gas. When the electrons stabilize, they release energy in the form of X-rays. [The X-Ray Universe: Chandra X-Ray Space Observatory Pictures]But the study scientists also found higher-energy X-rays that originate from an unknown source.
"At higher energies, these sources [solar wind and the Local Hot Bubble] contribute less than a quarter of the X-ray emission," Youaraj Uprety, lead author on the study and an astrophysicist at University of Miami, where the research was conducted, said in a NASA statement. "So there's an unknown source of X-rays in this energy range."
DXL flew for about 15 minutes, providing a glimpse of X-rays beyond the Earth's atmosphere. Earth's atmosphere normally blocks out these high-energy forms of light.

DXL was sent aloft at a time that is advantageous to measure X-rays coming from the solar wind: When the rocket flew, Earth was passing through something called the helium-focusing cone. Space is full of hydrogen and helium; as the solar system passes through it, the neutral helium creates a tail around the sun because helium is heavier than hydrogen.
Scientists were able to use those conditions to figure out how much X-ray emission comes from the solar wind, because the solar wind's exchange depends on interactions with neutral material such as helium. From there, scientists at first hypothesized that all of the remaining X-ray emission comes from the Local Hot Bubble — a large gas pocket that was supercharged by two or three supernova explosions, one inside the other, Massimiliano Galeazzi, an astrophysicist at the University of Miami and an author on the study, said in the same statement.
But something happened that they weren't expecting. Some of the X-rays detected by the rocket were too high of an energy to be from the Local Hot Bubble, because its temperature is too low. These X-rays also weren't in the helium-focusing cone, and so they didn't come from the solar wind. The origin of this third set of X-rays is completely unknown.

IN BRIEF
The most crucial element necessary to a round-trip Mars journey is fuel.
Finding the best raw materials for fuel, a location for a chemical plant, and the best source of water are all vital to survival.
FUELING DREAMS OF MARS
Elon Musk recently described his plans to make human beings an interplanetary species, starting with a trip to Mars. But how exactly does the SpaceX CEO intend to bring people back from the red planet?
Credit: SpaceX
The most crucial element necessary to both trips is fuel, which must be created using the raw materials at hand – and Mars has a lot of carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Thus, using the proven Sabatier reaction, carbon dioxide could be used to react with hydrogen to form methane for fuel.
This chemical processes would need an ample source of energy. This could come from solar panels (assuming Elon Musk can bring a ton of super energy efficient ones to the red planet). Luckily, once the process is up and running, the end products of burning methane and carbon dioxide are the same as the starting ingredients. Therefore, the process should produce enough oxygen to power the craft’s engines.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
A place to set up a chemical plant that will carry out the above actions is crucial. If water is used to power the plant, there’s only a couple places where it can be established. There’s a ton of water located in the polar ice caps. However, those are essentially Mars’ “danger zone,” offering incredibly harsh conditions.
According to Musk’s presentation: “the first ship will have a small propellant plant, which will be expanded over time.” Having a small plant presents some complications, though. It would take more time to start building a chemical plant to process fuel, and mean more resources are needed to keep people fed. Unless the perfect location can be found, the first group would have to be small enough to operate and expand the propellant plant, and have enough pre-produced fuel for a return trip.
Based on these challenges, it is clear that the first trip would be composed of people sent to build the basic infrastructure to allow for continued existence on Mars. The folks from SpaceX and NASA are aware of this, of course. And, given enough time and preparation, would eventually come up with the best way to tackle the situation.
If the human mind can conceive of life on Mars, then it can probably figure out how to make it happen.
NASA scientists have studied the possibility of using a robotic version of its Dragon capsule in a mission to bring samples of Martian soil and rock back to Earth. The "Red Dragon" project, which is only in the concept stage, would pick up samples collected by NASA's 2020 Mars rover. This could help tremendously in the search for ancient life on Mars. Finding signs of ancient organisms in the Martian soil will likely be an extremely delicate task and will require that the samples be analyzed in advanced laboratories on Earth.
NASA, meanwhile, has also discussed a human mission to Mars but has not made any solid mission plans. However, the space agency has said that the primary goal of the one-year mission aboard the International Space Station is to learn about how long-duration spaceflight affects the human body. NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, are halfway through their nearly yearlong stay aboard the station. Using current technology, experts estimate that a trip to Mars would require more than a year in travel each way..
Our Part of the Milky Way is 30% Larger Than We Thought
Our Part of the Milky Way is 30% Larger Than We Thought
Since the Earth is in the Milky Way, we can see only part ofit (in this case one of the arms), so astronomers use other means to study it, including measuring distances between objects.

IN BRIEF
The actual size of the whole Milky Way may be on par with Andromeda.
The launch of the James Webb Space Telescope in 2018 will give us a clearer picture of the galaxy as well as deeper areas of the universe.
KNOWING OUR GALAXY FROM WITHIN
A study, published in Science Advances, contain new models of the Milky Way that suggest our galaxy may not be a perfect spiral. The research team of international scientists wanted to figure out if the Milky Way matches the spiral shape observed in other galaxies, as part of a larger study that aims to sharpen our image of our galaxy.
It’s not easy to answer, however, because we are right in the middle of the galaxy, making it impossible to get the same views that we enjoy of other galaxies. Therefore, scientists turn to models to approximate our shape as best as possible. “The fundamental problem for the Milky Way is that it’s a disk-like system and we’re inside the disk,” Mark Reid, astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and co-author of the study, says in an interview with The Christian Science Monitor.
Thus, the team set out to study radio wavelengths. They mapped out how far star-forming regions were from the sky, using the National Radio Astronomy Observatory’s Very Long Baseline Array of telescopes, and calculating how far these war form Earth.
Their results showed that our solar system’s spot in the Milky Way (dubbed the Local Arm or the Orion Spur) is a substantial arm — larger than previously thought, and isn’t just a spur from a fully-grown system.

SELFIE OF GALACTIC PROPORTIONS
The study, like most research done on our galaxy and space in general, uses models born from calculations.
But what if it’s actually possible to see the Milky Way, and to confirm whether the study is correct? It would probably take some years to complete a picture of our galaxy. The good news is, it will be done soon. NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), to be launched by 2018, is going to help give us an image of the galaxy and even the universe.
More powerful and sensitive than the Hubble and other telescopes that came before it, the JWST can surely give us a selfie of our galaxy like we’ve never seen before. And perhaps more.
Sept. 26: NASA Sets to Release Details of ‘Surprising Activity’ on Europa, Many Speculate Alien Life
Sept. 26: NASA Sets to Release Details of ‘Surprising Activity’ on Europa, Many Speculate Alien Life
The rumors about alien life have once again appeared. This time, the rumors were started by an announcement made by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
According to NASA, it will hold a teleconference on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, to present new findings from images of Europa, one of the largest of Jupiter’s 67 known moons, captured by the Hubble Space Telescope. Europa is said to be the sixth-closest moon of Jupiter, and the smallest of its four Galilean satellites, as well as the sixth-largest moon in the solar system. Its distance to Earth is approximately 628.3 million km.
NASA said in a statement: “Astronomers will present results from a unique Europa observing campaign that resulted in surprising evidence of activity that may be related to the presence of a subsurface ocean on Europa.”
NASA said participants in the teleconference will include: Paul Hertz, director of NASA’s Astrophysics Division; William Sparks of the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore; Britney Schmidt of the Georgia Institute of Technology; and Jennifer Wiseman, senior Hubble project scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
Immediately after NASA issued the statement, fevered speculations about alien life appeared on social media. The speculations emerged due to researchers in the past having said Europa is one of the best places to find alien life in the solar system. In fact, some astrobiologists have even theorized that organisms could survive in its oceans.
In late 2013, it is said the Hubble telescope observed water vapor erupting from Europa. Many researchers hailed the development as a ‘tremendously exciting’ discovery.
Even before the 2013 discovery, previous scientific findings on Europa had revealed existence of a possible ocean located under its icy crust. Researchers who made the discovery theorized then, that if the ice on the surface of the moon is drilled to the ground, oceans will be detected. This discovery on Europa fueled the debate about the possibility of alien life. Lorenz Roth of Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio said at the time, that if the plumes of vapor were connected to the ocean beneath the crust, they could start searching for life nearer the surface.
The Telegraph quoted him as saying: “This means that future investigations can directly investigate the chemical makeup of Europa’s potentially habitable environment without drilling through layers of ice. And that is tremendously exciting.”
In this current announcement by NASA, when speculations about a possible alien life on Europa began trending on social media, NASA tweeted to quash the rumors.
Extraterrestrial life, commonly referred to as alien life, is a life that does not originate from the Earth. Some cosmologists believe alien life ranges from simple bacteria-like organisms to civilizations that are far more advanced than that of human beings.
Some exobiologists also suspect that alien life exists, although there is no empirical evidence to prove it. Exobiology is the knowledge and study of alien life.
Since the mid-20th century, there has been a significant surge in the search for signs of alien intelligence by researchers. Radios have been deployed to detect possible extraterrestrial signals and telescopes have also been mounted to search for potentially habitable extra solar planets.
Many science fiction movies on alien life have also been released to the public. This has increased the public interest in the search for alien life, especially among the western public. Some researchers encourage aggressive methods to try and contact alien life, however, some also believe that contacting aliens will be dangerous for humanity.
Particularly this year, a possible detection of alien life, or planets occupied by aliens, has appeared many times in the media.
In August 2016, the German investigative weekly news magazine, Der Spiegel, revealed that researchers at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) have discovered a new Earth-like planet with water. Several attempts by journalists to have the ESO confirm or deny the report by Der Spiegel proved futile, prompting some conspiracy theorists to say the organization has discovered a planet inhabited by aliens, and is hiding it from the public.
Recently also, Russian astronomers engaged in the Search of Extraterrestrial Intelligence, detected a strong mysterious radio signal on a sun-like star, around 94 light years from Earth. Light years is a unit of length used informally to express astronomical distances. One light year is approximately 9 trillion kilometers. According to the Russian researchers, the strange signal was detected from the direction of HD164595. This revelation sparked alien life speculation.
Stay with us for the latest on what NASA has discovered on Europa. We are following the event closely.
