Alien Life May Munch on Galactic Cosmic Rays

Cosmic rays may feed alien life found on Earth and potentially on other planets, researchers suggest.

Extreme microbes that live in hostile places on Earth may feed off of cosmic rays that zip through space, according to a study of a bizarre bacterium thriving deep in a dark gold mine.
If life exists on other planets such as Mars, it too could be gobbling upcosmic rays in order to survive, the new study suggests.
"When you have radiation penetrating deep below the surface, where there might be water on Mars or [Jupiter's moon] Europa, then it could start chemical reactions that life could use," said study author Dimitra Atri, a research scientist at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science in Seattle. Organisms that live off of galactic cosmic rays could even dwell on rogue planets that are not bound to any star and instead drift throughout interstellar space, Atri added. Where there's no light
Life on Earth relies largely on energy from the sun. Light drivesphotosynthesis, which, in turn, supplies the nutrients that most organisms use, either directly or indirectly, in order to survive. Still, if light is not available, life can find other sources of energy, such as heat, or chemical energy, previous research has found.

Prior work has even found that life-forms can live off the ionizing radiation — which has enough energy to ionize or charge atoms — from radioactive materials. For instance, the bacteriumCandidatus Desulforudis audaxviator, found about 1.75 miles (2.8 kilometers) deep in a South African gold mine, lives off the energy from radioactive isotopes of uranium, thorium and potassium in the rocks there. Specifically, ionizing radiation from these isotopes breaks down water in the area into hydrogen gas, which the bacterium can use as fuel, and helps to generate other biologically useful molecules.
"Most research on ionizing radiation concerns its potentially harmful effects, such as damage to DNA," Atri told Live Science. "But a bacterium that is cut off completely from sunlight and the rest of the biosphere can survive completely off of ionizing radiation."
Atri investigates galactic cosmic rays, which are high-energy particles, mostly protons, that careen across space from beyond the solar system. After he read about radiation-loving Ca. D. audaxviator, he began to wonder if other microbes could live off of energy from galactic cosmic rays as well.
Cosmic rays and extreme life
Galactic cosmic rays possess much higher energy than other sources of radiation on Earth. When they hit the atmosphere or surface of a planet, they generate a cascade of particles — such as electrons, positrons and neutrons — as well as dangerous gamma-rays. "Galactic cosmic rays are everywhere, and they have so much energy, they can penetrate even below the surfaces of planets," Atri said.
Using computer simulations, Atri found that galactic cosmic rays, though rare, could provide a steady flow of energy for life underground; this energy was comparable to that emitted by radioactive substances on Earth.
The energy flow could extend to potential life on other planets as well, he said.
Atri suggested that one way to see if this concept might actually help sustain life would be to conduct a lab experiment that exposed the bacterium Ca. D. audaxviator to the kind of particles that galactic cosmic rays generate when they hit the atmospheres or surfaces of planets.
Atri detailed his findings online Oct. 5 in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface.

Ashurbeyli said their mission is to act as guardians of the Earth, and the “nation” would first get to work building a protective shield to protect Earth from debris, asteroids and coronal mass ejections from the sun.
Currently all space programs, including commercial, must be supervised and authorised by a government on Earth. When applications for Asgardian citizenship goes above 100,000 they can apply to the UN for the status of state, according to Ashurbeyli.
An online registration form is welcoming applications for citizenship, with the first 100,000 qualifying for automatic citizenship. No word yet on how people can become citizens in the future, or whether there’ll be a wall built between Asgardia and Earth.
Named after the city in the sky ruled by Odin in Norse mythology, Asgardia is the work of a team of scientists and legal experts who claim it will someday become a member of the United Nations with its own flag and national anthem.

A Florida witness at Fernandina Beach recalled a 2006 encounter with an “intelligent creature” in the dark at his home, according to testimony in Case 79026 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
When the witness stepped out of his car, he noticed a ‘cloaked creature’ walking around the corner of the house from the backyard. Pictured: Fernandina Beach, FL.

The witness had just pulled into his driveway about 9 p.m. during September 2006 when the incident began.
“I encountered an unknown, intelligent creature,” the witness stated.“It was very dark out with no cars or street lights nearby.”
The witness stopped his car and turned it off, then opened his door and stood up to exit the vehicle.
“As I stood up, I saw something that is difficult to describe. With the car door still open, I saw what looked like some kind of cloaked creature walking around the corner of the house from the backyard. It was hard to see. It looked like the shadow of a human-sized creature. It was totally black and moved like a person walking upright.”
There was a distortion associated with the creature.
“It blocked out what was behind it and I could really only see the distortion it caused. The distortion had wavy edges as if it was surrounded by energy. I could make out its head and shoulders, but only in vague form.”

The witness saw the creature move.
“The creature took several steps and at the instant that I thought to myself, ‘What is that?’ – it stopped dead in its tracks and appeared to look right at me. At this time, I was scared to death that this creature had noticed me and was looking right at me. After a few seconds of looking at each other, the creature turned and walked back around behind the house and I never saw it again. The entire encounter lasted about 20 seconds.”
The witness recalled stories that a family member told.
“When I saw this I thought for many years it was a ghost or demon as my grandmother often told stories of seeing ghosts. Only recently have I begun to think it was an intelligent creature with a technology that was inexplicable.”
The witness was unable to go inside his home alone that evening.
“After the encounter I got back into my car and drove to my roommate’s work and waited for him to get off work and come home with me. This was the most terrifying experience I’ve ever had. This is the second unknown encounter I’ve had. I reported to MUFON a UFO sighting I had around 1996. For years I believed that encounters like these were just crazy people. I have been forced over the years to believe that we are clearly not alone and not the smartest or most technologically advance creatures on this planet and beyond.”

Fernandina Beach is a city in Nassau County, population 11,487. MUFON Florida State Section Director Thomas Branham closed this case as an Unknown.
“The Field Investigator has only the statement made by the witness and cannot prove or disprove the sighting of a cloaked, black, human like figure at night,” Branham stated in his report. “Although there may be a simple explanation of this occurrence, the Field Investigator would only be making an assumption. Under these circumstances the Field Investigator feels the best conclusion would be Unknown Other.”

Orbs are considered entities more than drones. Since the orbs can sense you thoughts when 500 meters or closer, they can be summoned, but only by using sincere thoughts, and not selfish feelings or anger. My wife and I were laying in the backyard in the pool so naturally I was staring at the sky and we live on a flight route from Boise. So I'm used to seeing a lot of planes and King is going over and I also come from an Air Force military background. So I was I was laying there looking up I noticed that it looked like there was this bright star even know it was on the 830 and there really wasn't much for stars out yet at least not in that area, so as I watch this I noticed that it never moved even though there how did the trade rooms up there and it was kind of a blustery day so I yelled out my neighbor to take a look and see if he had any opinions on what it might be because I thought maybe it was the star and he said no it's in the wrong area, thought maybe possibly a satellite since it's orbiting around it would travel with this and not moving. But Isaac got my attention more I started the video and take pictures and then I happen to have a telescope sitting on the porch so I tried focusing my iPhone 6s plus which has a pretty good camera through the lens of the telescope although it was shaky I could see a little more detail. So after toiling over talking about it and hearing other people mention it I'm not understanding what it can BS just kind of put it in the back of my head and had these pictures. And after talking to my father which is part of Saturday and was fine he said that I should probably send this to him just to have it looked at so here I am. I would so much love in answer to this. Thank you for any opinions and help you can give, , I think it's the not knowing and the questioning it is bugging the crap out of me. FYI I'm not some your final night or conspiracy but I do believe in a higher arrive from Dennis and I've seen a lot of things in my life to show me May show me I may be right. You can see the area around the orb glowing, lighting up the bottom of the cloud. It would be invisible to the naked eye, however, the digital eye was too perfect to miss it. Scott C. I received these images from a friend's mother, who works at the school were our children attend. She has given her permission to submit these images and her story as we would like to find out what they may be. I was not a witness to this incident, but, I also am trying to find answers as this took place at an elementary school where the children were present at the time. It was a cloudy morning. Her co-worker and her where taking pictures of the Sun peeking over the clouds and did not see anything unusual at the time. It wasn't until they reviewed the images later in the evening that they noticed the anomaly. Both images were taken at the same place not long apart. Unfortunately I do not know which image was taken first. Here is her experience in her own words: The date was Wednesday October 12th. The picture was taken at 9:34 AM. We were on the playground of the Connally School. We had been taking pictures of the kids playing and I noticed a big black cloud. I love looking at clouds so I decided to take a picture of the dark cloud with the sun coming up from behind it. I never noticed anything in the sky while taking the picture and neither did my coworker. Later that day I was looking at the picture and noticed the purple spot on it so I enlarged it to look at it and I was surprised at what I saw. After looking at my picture I looked at my friends picture. She didn't notice anything on her picture at the time. When she saw my picture posted on fb then she went back and looked at hers. I have attached both images, as well as her personal image she cropped to enlarge it. Thank you for your time. And I guarantee we will be watching the sky over the school a lot more closely.
First off, condolences to the family of Max Spiers, he was a great UFO researcher. This actually happened back in July, but remembering him is important. He brought a lot of issues to light that most people just don't want to talk about. I will get into that in the next few posts. There are a few people who control most of the world, but that has always been how it is right? Nothing new, but he was trying to expose those with that power, but they got that power by using force in the first place, which means any problem that they cannot solve easily, is eliminated. News states: Max Spiers, a 39-year-old father-of-two, was found dead on a sofa in Poland, where he had gone to give a talk about conspiracy theories and UFOs. He was ruled to have died from natural causes despite no post-mortem examination being carried out on his body. But his dark investigations into UFOs and government cover-ups may have made him enemies who wanted him dead, says mother Vanessa Bates, 63. In a chilling text message to his mum just days before his death, Max wrote: “Your boy’s in trouble. If anything happens to me, investigate.” Originally from Canterbury, Max was a former classmate of Orlando Bloom. He lived in the United States for a few years, but had returned to the city to stay with his mother, before jetting off to Poland. Vanessa said: “He was making a name for himself in the world of conspiracy theorists and had been invited to speak at a conference in Poland in July. “He was staying with a woman who he had not known for long and she told me how she found him dead on the sofa. “But I think Max had been digging in some dark places and I fear that somebody wanted him dead.” Max made a career out of investigating UFO sightings and alleged cover-ups. The most famous event was called the Battle of Los Angeles back in Feb of 1942, when several large metallic oval UFOs the size of football stadiums slowly flew over the city, as Army artillery guns shot thousands of rounds, but the UFO continued on its way, unharmed in any way. The RAND Corporation traces its origins to a research and development project created inside the Douglas Aircraft Company to study UFOs secretly retrieved by the U.S. military after the February 1942 Battle of Los Angeles UFO incident. Battelle, Brookings was a 1960 report commissioned by NASA and created by the Brookings Institution in collaboration with NASA's Committee on Long-Range Studies. It was submitted to the US gov on April 18, 1961. These were the things that convinced the US gov to hide all UFO and alien intel from the public, but that was 60 years ago, and those rules need to be changed, the public must know the truth. As we move into the last half of 2014, the need for extraterrestrial disclosure intensifies. Thank you for your kind consideration and response to my email.
This 4 July weekend I will meet with President Obama’s friend, Ambassador Hamamoto, at the US Mission in Geneva during their Independence Day Celebration. While in Geneva I will also speak at the UN and the European Space Agency regarding why we must move forward with disclosure and specific programs such as manned moon missions, since some scientists and others are calling for moon colonization due to what they perceive is happening on Earth.
John, with this email I am requesting a conversation with you and President Obama regarding the next steps in extraterrestrial disclosure for the benefit of our country and our planet.
Fifty years ago Battelle, Brookings and RAND studies on UFOs convinced the government to remove knowledge of the extraterrestrial presence from the citizens of our country. These organizations advised with their best information. However, today much, if not most, of the extraterrestrial reality they examined is known by our citizens. These organizations' resultant strategies and policies of 50 years ago no longer hold credibility or benefit.
Five decades of UFO information have dramatically shifted the public awareness of an extraterrestrial presence. And yet, our government is still operating from outdated beliefs and policies. These are detrimental to trust in government transparency, science, religion, and responsible citizenry embracing the next step in our country’s space travel and research.
Three disclosure issues are prominent: 1) planet sustainability via next generation energies such as zero point energy, 2) galactic travel and research undertaken as an advanced species aware of the extraterrestrial presence, not as uninformed explorers who revert to colonialism and destruction and 3) the example of a confident, engaged government who respectfully regards the wisdom and intellect of its citizens as we move into space.

This is an interesting conversation about the greys, and the more violent taller brown aliens. The brown alien he talks about is the same one you see in the movie Fire In The Sky. At least 90% of what he tells us is true. He tries his best to describe the propulsion of the UFOs, and describe how they move from place to place. Its not a worm hole he is describing. Its zero point energy. It may be powered by element 115, that is still uncertain, but how the craft moves as such a high rate of speed is zero point energy, which is evident from the tilt, and from Astronaut Edgar Mitchell's emails, and Bob Lazars thorough explanation of the UFOs movement. The UFO will actually tilt so that it can move like a child on a slide. Zero point energy is an area tag Astronaut Edgar Mitchell worked in and said was brought here by the alien so that we can get rid of fossil fuels...his words, not mine. Scott C. It looks like this UFO realized it was being watched and it put on a show for them. They can detect when they have been seen by a person, its sort of like telepathy, which for many aliens is the only way they speak to each other. Scott C. Waring

Our friend David saw the craft first and brought it to our attention. All four of us were sitting on our front porch when it appeared. The craft hovered for a minute or two then it moved around a bit stopping and hovering at random. We saw red, white, and blue lights while the craft was both moving and hovering. The lights flashed sequentially in the order of red, blue, and white. It continued to move and hover for a few minutes the lights continued to flash the entire time. The craft hovered for a bit before it flew off and we could no longer see it. A few minutes later our roommate Katelyn saw an object creating a white strip in the sky. As it passed over the moon the object appeared black. The object appeared to be moving east/northeast from high atmosphere to lower altitude out of sight heading toward the beach/lake in the same place other objects have disappeared to.
This just came in today. A Youtube user Mars Alive has found a tiny alien figure inside the front left wheel of the rover! Thats right, and it looks 100% legit. I checked it out, and made the gif above for you to compare for yourself. Its there, and its about 3 cm tall. That matches the other half dozen figures we have found on Mars. The figure is standing upright and on a slanted edge, so its feet are slanted with it, much how a human stands on a slanted steep incline. For it to get into the wheel wheel it had to have crawled in there, so it is alive, but it may be attempting to sabotage the rover in order to stop it from driving over its homes. After this, I would not be surprised if the rover suddenly stopped working altogether. Scott C. Waring

Amerikaans president Obama wil mensen op Mars laten wonen, zo maakte hij vandaag bekend. "Die reuzensprong zal Amerika maken", liet hij weten. Vrijwilligers genoeg, alleen moeten die weten dat ze door de kosmische straling risico lopen dement en/of paranoïde te worden. Daarvoor waarschuwt een nieuwe studie.
Astronauten op weg naar Mars kunnen dementie ontwikkelen, naast een onbeheersbaar angstgevoel dat de onderzoekers 'space brain' noemen. Wetenschappers onderzochten de effecten van de kosmische straling waarmee astronauten zullen gebombardeerd worden. Die blijkt een probleem te vormen voor wie een buitenaardse kolonie zou willen stichten op de Rode Planeet.
NASA onderzoekt momenteel hoe het mensen naar Mars kan sturen, en de Nederlandse groep Mars One plant de eerste bemande Marsvlucht tegen 2027. De Amerikaanse ondernemer Elon Musk wil tegen 2022 mensen naar Mars sturen.
Angstbestrijdingsproces Professor Charles Limoli, expert in stralingsoncologie aan de universiteit van Californië, stelde samen met zijn collega's vast dat deeltjes in die kosmische straling op lange termijn bij muizen voor verminderde hersenfuncties en dementie leiden. De straling bleek ook in te werken op het zogenaamde 'angstbestrijdingsproces', dat de mens helpt angsaanjagende incidenten te overwinnen zodat hij bijvoorbeeld opnieuw kan gaan zwemmen na bijna verdronken te zijn. Dat stelt Limoli in het vakblad Scientific Reports.
"Dat is geen goed nieuws voor astronauten die een reis van twee tot drie jaar naar Mars aanvatten", besluit hij.
"De ruimte stelt de astronauten voor unieke gevaren. Blootstelling aan die stralingspartikels kan leiden tot een hele reeks complicaties in het centrale zenuwstelsel, tijdens de ruimtereis en lang daarna. Het gaat dan om de afname van prestaties, geheugenverlies, angsten, depressies en verzwakte besluitvorming. Die kunnen levenslang aanhouden".
"Niet aan te ontsnappen"
Delen van het ruimtetuig zouden extra schilden tegen kosmische stralen kunnen krijgen, maar dat volstaat vooralsnog niet omunieke gevaren. Paniek De eerste Marsverkenners riskeren ook nog tijdens de vlucht aan paranoïa ten prooi te vallen door het effect op het hersenproces dat afrekent met stresserende gebeurtenissen. "Die verminderde angstbestrijding maakt je vatbaar voor paniek, wat voor problemen kan zorgen tijdens zo'n lange ruimtereis", stelt Limoli.
Astronauten hebben dan wel al langer dan een jaar in het International Space Station (ISS) verbleven, daar werden ze niet aan dezelfde mate van kosmische straling blootgesteld omdat ze in de beschermende magnetosfeer van de Aarde zitten. de astronauten te beschermen. "Er valt niet aan de kosmische stralen te ontsnappen", meent Limoli. Hij en zijn team werken aan een medicijn dat bescherming zou bieden tegen de zwaarste effecten van de straling.
De lander Schiaparelli "is geland" op Mars, maar "stuurt geen signaal uit". Dat heeft Thierry Blancquaert, de verantwoordelijke voor de module bij het Europese ruimtevaartagentschap ESA, gemeld. "Ik ben niet heel optimistisch over de gegevens die verzameld moesten worden na de landing", zei Blancquaert nog.
Het is zeker dat de lander geland is", kon Blancquaert kwijt na het bestuderen van een hele reeks gegevens. "Nu is het de vraag of hij in goede omstandigheden geland is, of of er een rots of krater in de weg ligt. Of misschien is er gewoon een probleem met de radiozender."
Ongerustheid De ongerustheid was af te lezen op de gezichten in het European Space Operations Centre in het Dutise Darmstadt. "Het is duidelijk dat de voortekens niet goed zijn, maar we hebben meer informatie nodig", had Paolo Ferri, afdelingshoofd Operaties bij ESA, enkele uren eerder al gezegd. "Er kunnen vele, vele redenen zijn voor de stilte."
Vandaag om 10 uur 's morgens maakt ESA een stand van zaken op.
Max Spiers (39) sms'te naar zijn moeder dat zij de zaak moest laten onderzoeken als er iets met hem zou gebeuren. Een paar dagen later werd de ufo-expert en bekend aanhanger van complottheorieën dood aangetroffen in zijn zetel in het Poolse Warschau.
Spiers was in Polen voor een lezing over samenzweringstheorieën. Hij zou officieel in juni een natuurlijke dood gestorven zijn, maar er werd geen autopsie uitgevoerd op zijn lichaam. Zijn moeder, Vanessa Bates (63), vreest dat hij vijanden had die hem liever dood zagen, wegens zijn duistere onderzoek naar ufo's en cover-ups van regeringen. "Je zoon is in gevaar. Als er iets met mij gebeurt, onderzoek dat dan", sms'te hij amper enkele dagen voor zijn dood aan zijn moeder.
Spiers kwam oorspronkelijk uit Canterbury en was destijds een klasgenootje van acteur Orlando Bloom. Hij woonde de laatste jaren in de VS, maar was naar Canterbury teruggekomen om bij zijn moeder te gaan wonen en vervolgens dus naar Polen te reizen voor een congres. Hij verbleef in Warschau bij een vrouw die hij amper kende. Zij was het die Spiers dood aantrof in de zetel. Volgens vrienden van Spiers had hij een "zwarte vloeistof uitgebraakt".
Complottheoristen geloven dat ufojagers die te dicht bij de waarheid komen, afgehouden worden door de staatsveiligheid. De laatste tijd zou Max Spiers ook zitten neuzen hebben in de levens van bekende figuren uit de politiek en uit de zaken- en enterainmentwereld. Vele online volgers van Spiers zijn ervan overtuigd dat hij stierf in erg verdachte omstandigheden en eisen een lijkschouwing. Volgens Spiers' moeder Vanessa was haar zoon kerngezond op het moment van zijn overlijden. "En dan zou hij zomaar plots in zijn zetel gestorven zijn?" Vanessa Bates krijgt niet meer officiële documenten over de dood van haar zoon te zien dan het papier dat zegt dat de doodsoorzaak natuurlijk was.
Het lichaam van Spiers werd een week na zijn dood overgevlogen naar Canterbury, waar hij begraven werd. In Kent werd wél een autopsie uitgevoerd, maar meer dan twee maanden later kent Vanessa Bates nog altijd de resultaten daarvan niet.
Spiers laat twee zonen na en had nog een broer, Josh, en een zus, Becky. Zij zijn allemaal vastberaden om te strijden om de waarheid over de mysterieuze dood van Max Spiers te achterhalen. Officieel zit het Britse onderzoek nog "in de prille beginfase".

Hubble's Cosmic Origins Spectrograph can measure how the light from distant background objects is affected as it passes through the cloud, yielding clues to the chemical composition of the cloud. Astronomers trace the cloud's origin to the disk of our Milky Way. Combined ultraviolet and radio observations correlate to the cloud's infall velocities, providing solid evidence that the spectral features link to the cloud's dynamics.

You’re all invited to an epic collision, right in our own galactic backyard, about 30 million years from now. A giant space cloud, moving at a rate of 1.1 million km/h (700,000 mph), is set on a collision course with the Milky Way, according to Hubble Space Telescope researchers.
Smith’s Cloud, a massive billow of gas made up mostly of hydrogen and heavier sulfur, measures 11,000 lightyears in length by 2,500 lightyears in width (a lightyear is around 9.5 trillion km). Discovered in 1963 by Dutch radio astronomer Gail Smith, it’s believed that the giant space cloud was formed some 70 million years ago.
Owing to high traces of sulfur gas, scientists think Smith’s Cloud probably originated from the Milky Way. However, no one seems able to explain how it was expelled out of our galaxy. Now, it returns with a bang.
CONSTANT AND COSMIC
Let’s be clear, however: we’re not going to die from this collision — at least no one from Earth — because it’ll happen thousands of lightyears from us, at the very fringes of the Milky Way. Life (human or artificial) on Earth 30 million years from now will not suffer from this clash of clouds. Instead, they will enjoy a magnificent light show featuring the birth of 2 million stars.
It’s a stellar reminder of how evolution happens even at cosmic scales. Space Telescope Science Institute astronomer, and a leading Smith’s Cloud researcher, Andrew Fox explained in a statement:
“The cloud is an example of how the galaxy is changing with time. It’s telling us that the Milky Way is a bubbling, very active place where gas can be thrown out of one part of the disk and then return back down into another.”
“Our galaxy is recycling its gas through clouds, the Smith Cloud being one example, and will form stars in different places than before,” Fox added. “Hubble’s measurements of the Smith Cloud are helping us to visualize how active the disks of galaxies are.”
