“Earth Must Be Warned!” Screams French Astronaut before Suicide Attempt

 I heard today on the radio that a French Astronaut committed suicide and as she was dying she was heard to say “The world must be warned“.  She then went into a coma.  She was also married to another Astronaut. Claudie Haignere was the first French female to visit space.

A six minute YouTube conspiracy film by UFOmania has resurfaced this week examining her story. It has been viewed nearly a million times. In 1993 esteemed scientist Claudie was a back-up crew member for the 1993 Mir Altaïr mission, which included her future husband Jean-Pierre Haigneré.

She made it to the Mir space station in 1996 as part of the Russian-French Cassiopée mission and in 2001 became the first European woman to visit the International Space Station.

ISS spots UFO

Most peculiar report stating that the renowned scientist and France’s first female astronaut Claudie Haigneré had to be ‘forcefully restrained’after screaming “Earth Must Be Warned!” prior to her falling into a coma from a reported overdose of sleeping pills in an apparent attempt at suicide. After recovering Claudie entered French politics and worked as minister delegate for Research and New Technologies from 2002 to 2004 and minister delegate for European Affairs from 2004 to 2005. The asteroid 135268 Haigneré is named after Claudie and her husband.

Claudia blamed the incident on “burnout syndrome” and is now the director of the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie – the largest science museum in Europe. This could be very significant especially with the item that came out a couple of weeks ago about the UFO investigator who died mysteriously in Poland

Alien enthusiasts believe she was trying to warn the Earth about dangerous life in outer space. We can speculate she saw UFOs in space and has inside knowledge concerning the aliens. France is believed to have an alien body within one of its Labs. I had two military friends who were assigned to UFO related jobs in the Air Force with promising careers. After one year in the job both resigned their officer commissions, one became an alcoholic and the other an Episcopal Priest. I asked what they knew, they said,”You don’t want to know.”

The YouTube video, which is narrated by a robot voice, is a conspiracy that blends fact and fiction.

Both US Astronauts and Soviet Cosmonauts have reported seeing UFOs in space. Reptilians are alleged to be taking over large parts of the universe and will eventually attack Earth.

The mysterious death of conspiracy Max Spiers in October may have triggered the latest interest. Spiers was found dead on a sofa at a friend’s house in Poland days after warning his mum to “investigate” if anything happened to him. Friends also claim he had vomited a black liquid before his death.

Old Timer astronauts have mentioned aliens living on and around our planet with a laissez faire attitude. They’ve seen so much of it; it’s no big deal to them. During the Eisenhower era, the Greada Treaty set the groundwork for the compliant and secret existence for friendly aliens to work with us.

I have talked to a movie producers who claimed the government encouraged them to make alien movies to make the public aware of the potential problem. They even helped with UFO footage and military hardware to be used in the movies. They wished to inform the public but to have denial ability to prevent panic.

While in my Air Force uniform I sat next to Michael Rennie on a flight from LA to Chicago. He told me had spent much of his career doing movies for the Air Force. He was trained as a pilot in the West during the war. He played Klaatu in the movie “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” He implied the military helped produce the film. The government felt they needed to educate the public in case they were unable to keep the UFOs secret.

Gort was a robot and Michael Rennie played Klaatu the extraterrestrial.

In the movie Klaatu corrects the work of Professor Barnhardt showing his other-worldly brilliance and association with destructive power that could threaten the existence of the world. The movie was ranked #5 on the American Film Institute’s list of the 10 greatest “Sci-Fi” films in 2008. This was the first big budget science fiction feature film to be released by a major American studio after the war.

20th Century-Fox studio chief was Darryl F. Zanuck and Robert Wise was the movie’s director. The movie was first post-war, large-budget, science-fiction film. It was a serious, high-minded exploration of mid-20th century suspicion and paranoia, combined with a philosophical overview of humanity’s coming place in the larger universe.

In the film Klaatu states, “I am leaving soon, and you will forgive me if I speak bluntly. The universe grows smaller every day, and the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated. There must be security for all, or no one is secure. Now, this does not mean giving up any freedom, except the freedom to act irresponsibly. Your ancestors knew this when they made laws to govern themselves and hired policemen to enforce them. We, of the other planets, have long accepted this principle. We have an organization for the mutual protection of all planets and for the complete elimination of aggression. The test of any such higher authority is, of course, the police force that supports it. For our policemen, we created a race of robots. Their function is to patrol the planets in spaceships like this one and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression, we have given them absolute power over us. This power cannot be revoked. At the first sign of violence, they act automatically against the aggressor. The penalty for provoking their action is too terrible to risk. The result is, we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war.”

The humanoid alien protagonist of the film, Klaatu (Michael Rennie), instructs Helen Benson (Patricia Neal) that if any harm befalls him, she must speak to the robot to save the Earth.:

Klaatu: I’m worried about Gort. I’m afraid of what he might do if anything should happen to me.

Helen: Gort? But he’s a robot. Without you, what could he do?

Klaatu: There’s no limit to what he could do. He could destroy the Earth. You must tell Gort, “Klaatu barada nikto.”

There are parallels between Klaatu and Jesus Christ. Klaatu comes from another world and chooses the name of Mr. Carpenter (the occupation of Jesus Christ). He came to warn about the destruction Earth is going to face if they don’t believe him and his words. Jesus Christ said to the people that they will face destruction if they don’t believe in him and in his words. Like Jesus prophesying about the destruction of Jerusalem, Klaatu prophesies that Earth may have to face destruction like leveling New York City or sinking the Rock of Gibraltar. Both Jesus Christ and Klaatu die and later come back to life. Like Klaatu’s flying saucer seen by people in the film,

People in Jerusalem and in Judea saw flying chariots and soldiers in the sky right before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. This was recorded by Hebrew Historian Josephus, Roman Historian Tacitus, Eusebius, Document “Pseudo Hegesippus”, and Jewish History Document “Sepher Yosippon”. Canadian Injured by UFO

Stephen Michalak of Winnipeg, was prospecting near Falcon Lake, Manitoba, when he encountered two UFOs, one of which landed on a large, flat rock about 160 feet away from him. After having approached the object and looked inside, the object moved, and something like an exhaust vent was now in front of him. A blast of hot gas shot from these holes onto his chest, setting his shirt and undershirt on fire and causing him severe pain, and leaving burn marks in the shape of a grid. There are many abductees who claim they have been kidnapped against their will.

Joe Foster writes, Events take place on a daily basis that for the most part are not readily associated with other events having taken place over the span of years.  It may take many years for the events to eventually make their way to a point whereas linkages are more easily defined.  This report highlights how this can evolve.

It was the summer of 1958 and I was a child ready to enter the sixth grade.  My family and I lived on an idyllic farm known as Dorbrook Farm (now Dorbrook Park).  In 1958, this was a working dairy farm owned by a “gentleman” farmer who owned a string of successful shoe stores.  The cows that he acquired for his farm were all of champion stock and very expensive.  The farm itself was located in Colts Neck, New Jersey and was adjacent to what is known as the “Navy” road also known as Normandy road.  This road linked NAD Earle (Naval Ammunition Depot) storage facilities located in Colts Neck to its pier facilities 13.2 miles away in the Leonardo section of Middletown Township, NJ.  The pier is located on Raritan Bay and is the largest finger pier in the world.

The Navy road was used to ship munitions from the storage to the ships and vice versa.  It has long been rumored (never acknowledged by the Navy) that there were also nuclear munitions stored and shipped as well.  This I believe is where the linkages for events spanning 12 years involving the Navy, the adjacent Nike Ajax and Nike Hercules sites and my August of 1958 daylight sphere sighting, also on the Navy road.

1958, unbeknownst to me was really a watershed year for Nike Ajax, UFO’s and the most deadly of Nike Ajax accident ever to take place.  Most of these events were also co-located with the Normandy (Navy) road with the exception of what was known as the Olney/Derwood event.

In May of 1958 there were reported UFO sightings near a Nike Ajax site located in Olney/Derwood Maryland.  These occurrences included visual as well as radar thus creating a very compelling story going forward.  However, it gets stranger yet, one of these unidentified craft was seen to crashed in a field, lose some debris (later reported to be radioactive) and take off again.  The site was then covered by Air Force personnel in hazmat suits.  The report of this event I came across only several months ago.  Harlan Bentley was videotaped for the Disclosure Project and a report was also filed with MUFON (the Mutual UFO Network).   Harlan was in the Army and a reported Nike radar operator who witnessed this crash himself.

Coincidentally, this same month (and 3 months before my Navy road sighting) the worst accident in the history of Nike Ajax took place at the Nike site known as NY-53.  This site is also adjacent to the same Navy road I had my sighting on.  A workman was reported to have been working on the missiles (all armed with conventional warheads and fully fueled, above ground on their launchers) doing some type of safety retrofit.  One of these missiles reportedly accidentally fired its liquid fueled sustainer motor thus causing a chain of events setting off the other missiles and either exploding the fuel, warheads and/or launching these missiles in a chain reaction type of event.  Ten men (6 military and 4 civilian) were all killed.  The site itself was demolished.

A couple of months later, I and my family witnessed the daylight, silvery sphere displaying randomly blinking red and white that were displayed all around the object.  This craft was also flying from the direction of the pier facilities on Raritan bay towards the ammunition storage facilities located in Colts Neck.  Here is the second seemingly unconnected Nike Ajax event that coincided with the Olney/Derwood reported crash. Could there have been a tie-in?  Nike was always a classified system, but even more so when they upgraded to the nuclear capable, Nike Hercules which were deployed at NY-56 in 1960.

This brings us to the events of July 1970 that included; several reported landings in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown Township (also about a mile and a half from the Navy pier).  Several of these landings were investigated at the time by the Middletown Township Police Department.  There were also a number of scientists and other investigators that participated as well.  Again, synchronicity rears its head because that summer of 1970 also included the nuclear armed, Nike Hercules missiles located at Fort Hancock NJ at the NY-56 site.  It should be noted that this site is now one of the two remaining intact facilities that are being restored for the NPS to be used as a Cold War museum.  I am also part of the volunteer group providing tours between April and November every year.  The site is now part of the Gateway National Park (Sandy Hook, NJ).  The NY-56 site is also just 7 driving miles from the NY-53 Nike Ajax site that blew up and, about 2 miles as the crow flies from the Navy pier.

The summer of 1970, an event took place that caused the arming of 16 Nike nuclear missiles that we were actually prepared to launch in anger.  This was also the only time in the 16 years (1960 – 1974) that any of NY-56 nuclear missiles were ever armed for an intercept.  Again, was there some synchronicity related to the events in Port Monmouth and this amazing (and scary) nuclear event?  Because of the nature of the nuclear Nike system, there was the expected compartmentalization and the strict adherence to following the “Need to know” edict.  The crew in the Launcher area had no need to know anything about what went on in the IFC (Integrated Fire Control) and the site only reacted to commands from a higher authority located at its ADDCP  (Army Air Defense Command Post).  How much information that was provided was dictated only by what the crew needed to know in order to accomplish the mission?

So! I leave it to readers to draw their own conclusions about the inter-relatedness of these events.  There is ample circumstantial evidence to lend credence to the synchronicity aspect involved in these events. Thanks to Joe Foster

Witnesses Watch UFO Make Crop Circle

Nancy Talbott BLT reports, “.Last month Robbert v/d Broeke and an unknown “farmer” watched a UFO hover low over a Dutch field for several minutes, then discharge a “visible energy” down to the grass, creating a new crop formation.  Robbert tried to touch the UFO, but was unable to, due to a “magnetic-field-like” force which repelled his hand

Back at his apartment a few hours later he felt a “holy” energy present and took multiple highly anomalous photos, one of a “woman” (whom Robbert thought might be one of the UFO’s occupants), then a Buddhist monk named Geshe-la (whom Robbert had never heard of, but who is the spiritual founder & leader of many Buddhist organizations)–one of which BLT fieldworker Laurel Konrad, visiting me on this weekend, belongs to….during which visit Robbert took these photos.  This is the first time that the face of a human KNOWN TO BE LIVING has appeared when Robbert feels “energies” present & then takes photos. {Photo above}

What may be a “Seeing Eye” dog also appeared, as did a “Crown of Thorns” image Robbert had taken on Good Friday, 2014 (posted in a previous BLT report, “Spiritual Icons”

FREIGHTENING ALIEN CRAFT CLOSE ENCOUNTER IN RUSSIA

AUGUST 15, 1663   …………  ROBOZERO LAKE RUSSIA

On August 15, 1663, between 10 a.m. and noon, local time, a “great noise” resounded over Robozero Lake, located in the Vologda Region; about 50 kilometers southwest of Belozersk.  

From the north, out of the clear sky appeared a huge flaming sphere no less than 40 meters in diameter.  From its fore part emitted two “flame” beams, about “20 sazhens ahead of it” (i.e. around 40 meters; asazhen is 2.13 meters). From its sides poured blue smoke. This huge ball of fire, its height like that of a modern 15-story building, hovered over the lake. 

The phenomenon was observed by a multitude of people. It was the day of the Assumption, and villagers from all of nearby villages gathered for Mass at the parish church, situated on the lake shore. The “great noise” occurred just as the prayer singing had begun. Terrified by this noise, the people emerged from the church to the vestibule, but upon seeing the “frightful sight” they went back into the church and “prayed to the Lord and the Virgin Mary with tears and weeping,” whereupon “the great flame and the two smaller ones vanished.” However, soon after “the fiery flame” again appeared over the lake, somewhat to the west, “about half a versta (approximately 1750 feet) from the spot where it had vanished.”  Its appearance was just as unexpected as the first time and it had “dimmed.”

A little later the same body, seemingly becoming even brighter and more terrifying, reappeared another half kilometer to the west, and then, moving westward, it dimmed and disappeared from view.  The “flame” hovered over Robozero for about an hour and a half. The lake is quite small, its size “two versts long and about one wide.”

Peasants were sailing in a boat in the lake at the time, but the scorching heat did not let them come closer. They saw that light from the unknown object penetrated the water, and reached the bottom of the lake that was “about four sazhens down.” They observed “fish fleeing from the flame towards the shore.” And where the flame touched the water, appeared a brown film of oxide on the surface, resembling rust (“just like rust”); it was later dispersed by wind. 

Ivan Rzhevsky was an educated and intelligent man, as his observations reveal quite clearly. He went as far as to check out the testimony of an eyewitness, a peasant by the name of Levko Fedorov. He also received written confirmation from the local priests that “such a sign was observed on that date;” only then did Rzhevsky report the occurrence to his superiors. 

The Russian author provides a detailed description of the phenomenon, but does not offer any subjective interpretation of it.  Others tried to interpret the Robozero Phenomenon. Russian astronomer D. Svyatski, in his book “Astronomical phenomena in Russian chronicles (Petrograd, 1915),” claims that the eyewitnesses saw pieces of a meteorite that flew apart after an explosion.

How could the people in the boat approach a hovering body? Some have tried to explain it as a ball lightning. But there was no storm and no rain that day. A lightning’s life span is short. Its diameter is not larger than a meter, certainly never 40 meters. Then, there were two rays that emitted from the body. Ball lightning does not emit rays.  Yuri Roszius analyzed Rzhevsky’s report. His detailed analysis included the study of one interesting episode related by eyewitnesses. The document notes a change in the outer appearance of the object: an increase in its brightness when it came into view for the third time.

For some reason this change preceded the start of the object’s progressive movement westward. In modern times, such increase in brightness could be attributed to the firing a cruise engines (increase in its trust). Is it by chance that the object’s brightness increased before its departure?

JULES VERNE’s idea of an ocean deep below the surface in Journey to the Centre of the Earth may not have been too far off. Earth’s mantle may contain many oceans’ worth of water – with the deepest 1000 kilometres down.

“If it wasn’t down there, we would all be submerged,” says Steve Jacobsen at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, whose team made the discovery. “This implies a bigger reservoir of water on the planet than previously thought.”

This water is much deeper than any seen before, at a third of the way to the edge of Earth’s core. Its presence was indicated by a diamond spat out 90 million years ago by a volcano near the São Luíz river in Juina, Brazil.

The diamond has an imperfection – a sealed-off inclusion – that contains minerals that became trapped during the diamond’s formation. When the researchers took a closer look at it with infrared microscopy, they saw unmistakable evidence of the presence of hydroxyl ions, which normally come from water. They were everywhere, says Jacobsen.

To work out the depth the diamond formed at – and hence the origins of this water – the team again turned to the inclusion. It is made of a ferropericlase mineral, which is composed of iron and magnesium oxide, and can also absorb other metals such as chromium, aluminium and titanium at ultra-high temperatures and pressures typical of the lower mantle.

“This water is much deeper than ever found before, at a third of the way to the edge of Earth’s core”

Jacobsen found that these additional metals had separated from the ferropericlase – something that happens in the milder conditions a diamond experiences as it edges up through shallower depths. But for the metals to be present at all, the diamond must have originated in the intense conditions of the lower mantle (Lithos, doi.org/btcn). “Based on the composition of the trapped mineral, we speculate that the depth was around 1000 kilometres,” says Jacobsen.

The clincher is that as the inclusion was trapped in the diamond the whole time, the water signature can only have come from the diamond’s place of formation in the lower mantle. “This is the deepest evidence for water recycling on the planet,” he says. “The big take-home message is that the water cycle on Earth is bigger than we ever thought, extending into the deep mantle.”

His team has previously found evidence of massive amounts of water some 600 kilometres down, mixed in with rock.

“Water clearly has a role in plate tectonics, and we didn’t know before how deep these effects could reach,” he says. “It has implications for the origin of water on the planet.” For example, it is possible that Earth had water from day one in the very dust and rocks that first formed it.

But it’s still not clear exactly how water got so far down. It may have arrived in the mantle even earlier than 90 million years ago, through sedimentary oceanic crust burrowing downwards as primitive tectonic plates thrust against and past each other.

The new study suggests cycling of subducted material, even at these depths, says Lydia Hallis at the University of Glasgow, UK. “Ultimately, this research will help us better understand the way our planet recycles itself.”

Jacobsen thinks that this water may help explain why Earth is the only planet we know to have plate tectonics. “Water mixes with ocean crust and gets subducted at convergent plate boundaries,” he says. “Introducing water into the mantle promotes melting and weakens rock, likely helping out the motions of plates like grease.”

The hope is that such research will yield insights into how our oceans and atmosphere formed in the first place.

Check out the speed on this UFO. The white reflective surface of it prevents us from getting a clear view of it, and allows it to blend into the clouds easily to hide. 

 

This UFO is over Australia, yet its the same type of ship that is seen by thousands over Denver, Colorado in the US. The alien species that uses this type of UFO probably have several bases located in the Australian outback.

Aliens have influence our lives it more ways that most are aware. Here an artist painted the Sputnik satellite 450 years before it was created. It also closely resembles a lot of the UFOs seen around the world...especially the ones we call cloud orbs.  The artists must have hand some mental visions given to him from an alien...much like the famous french warrior Joan of Arc had in the 1400s. Aliens can, do and have mentally manipulated humans since the beginning of our existence.

What is a machine resembling the Sputnik satellite doing in a painting from the year 1600?

 

Ventura Salimbeni of the 16th and 17th century was assigned to do three painting for a church in Tuscany, Italy. Out of the three, he did one very odd looking one.

 

The painting, which is quite large and still stands today. The top of the painting is said to be symbolic of God the Father and God the Son with scepters touching what was known as the universe.

 

The thing is...this just looks a little bit too uncanny for symbolic reference. 

 

If the sphere is said to represent the universe, why did the painter not include any stars or other celestial objects?...and why does the sphere seem to reflect light much like an actual shiny ball would?

The ball even appears to have seams that hold it together.

 

The strangest and most outlandish part of it all are the two quote "scepters" that stick out from the top of the object. 

 

These scepters bear absolutely no resemblance what one would have looked like at the time. 

 

In fact...they even look engineered to be antennaes. Look at the base of each of them and how they are slightly wider as they connect with the object. They even get thinner as they reach their end...perfectly resembling an antennae. 

 

They even look as if they have a "telescoping" like design...such as if they could shorten away when not needed and expand when needed.

 

Plus, there are two of them...two of them positioned in a way to maximize radio wave transmission.

 

What exactly was the vision the artist saw when he painted this work of art? What inspired him? This is truly odd.

Did NASA Mars Rover Find a Signature of Past Life?

During its wheeled treks on the Red Planet, NASA's Spirit rover may have encountered a potential signature of past life on Mars, report scientists at Arizona State University (ASU).

To help make their case, the researchers have contrasted Spirit's study of "Home Plate" — a plateau of layered rocks that the robot explored during the early part of its third year on Mars — with features found within active hot spring/geyser discharge channels at a site in northern Chile called El Tatio.

The work has resulted in a provocative paper: "Silica deposits on Mars with features resembling hot spring biosignatures at El Tatio in Chile." [5 Bold Claims of Alien Life]

Field work

As reported online last week in the journal Nature Communications, field work in Chile by the ASU team — Steven Ruff and Jack Farmer of the university's School of Earth and Space Exploration — shows that the nodular and digitate silica structures at El Tatio that most closely resemble those on Mars include complex sedimentary structures produced by a combination of biotic and abiotic processes.

"Although fully abiotic processes are not ruled out for the Martian silica structures, they satisfy an a priori definition of potential biosignatures," the researchers wrote in the study.

Ancient setting

Spiritlanded on Mars in January 2004, a few weeks before its twin, Opportunity, touched down in a different part of the Red Planet. Both golf-cart-size rovers were tasked with looking for signs of past water activity during their missions, which were originally planned to last three months.

Spirit encountered outcrops and regolith composed of opaline silica (amorphous SiO2nH2O) in an ancient volcanic hydrothermal setting in Gusev crater.

An origin via either fumarole-related acid-sulfate leaching or precipitation from hot spring fluids was considered possible. "However, the potential significance of the characteristic nodular and [millimeter]-scale digitate opaline silica structures was not recognized," Ruff and Farmer noted in the new study.

El Tatio: Mars-like conditions

The physical environment of El Tatio offers a rare combination of high elevation, low precipitation rate, high mean annual evaporation rate, common diurnal freeze-thaw and extremely high ultraviolet irradiance.

"Such conditions provide a better environmental analog for Mars than those of Yellowstone National Park (USA) and other well-known geothermal sites on Earth," suggested Ruff and Farmer. "Our results demonstrate that the more Mars-like conditions of El Tatio produce unique deposits, including biomediated silica structures, with characteristics that compare favorably with the Home Plate silica outcrops. The similarities raise the possibility that the Martian silica structures formed in a comparable manner."

Biosignature definition

Previously, a NASA science team defined a potential biosignature as "an object, substance and/or pattern that might have a biological origin and thus compels investigators to gather more data before reaching a conclusion as to the presence or absence of life."

"Because we can neither prove nor disprove a biological origin for the microstromatolite-like digitate silica structures at Home Plate, they constitute a potential biosignature according to this definition," Ruff and Farmer wrote.

Spirit of future exploration

Spirit bogged down on Mars in May 2009, becoming stuck in soft soil.

In late January 2010, after months of attempts to free the rover, NASA dubbed the wheeled robot a stationary research platform. The lack of mobility and the harsh climes of Mars conspired to seal Spirit's fate, with attempts to regain contact with the robot ending in May 2011. Subsequently, NASA announced the end of contact efforts and the completion of Spirit’s mission. (Opportunity is still going strong today.)

The ASU researchers suggested that a future and specially instrumented rover mission could perhaps provide a more definitive assessment of possible biogenicity of Home Plate silica structures.

"However, because of the challenges in obtaining unambiguous evidence in situ, coordinated microscopic and compositional analyses of samples returned to laboratories on Earth may be required to reach a robust conclusion as to the presence or absence of past Martian life in these rocks," Ruff and Farmer stated.

Scientists Uncover New Evidence for Life on Ancient Mars

• Pictures from NASA's Spirit Rover suggest that ancient life on Mars may have been involved in the building of silica deposits.
• NASA will be launching another mission in 2020, which can interrogate the evidence and determine if microbial life exists (or existed before) on the Red Planet.

MICROBIAL LIFE

In 2007, NASA’s unmanned Spirit Rover wheeled across Mars, taking photographs and data, until it eventually got stuck in soft red soil two years later. Photographs of hot spring silica deposits were seen, but was thought to be just another geological structure. That is until quite recently when two geologists discovered similar deposits here on Earth, and found that these structures are made by tiny organisms—now suggesting existence of the organisms on the Red Planet.

Arizona State University geologists Steven Ruff and Jack Farmer’s research is detailed in Nature Communications. They contrasted the Spirit’s study on the Mars Home Plate with their findings in the El Tatio Chilean hot springs, a place known to be the best“Mars analog” because of its high elevation, extreme freeze-thaw temperatures, and high exposure ultraviolet rays. Ruff described the mineral outcrops found in El Tatio to be “the most Mars-like of any silica deposits on Earth.”

The finger-like silica deposits found in Home Plate were poorly misunderstood. Now, the geologists have determined that microbes play a major role in forming the silica deposits, suggesting that the same has been occurring on Mars.

FUTURE EXPLORATION

The ASU researchers’ discovery prompts future explorations to search specifically for the possible biosignatures in the silica structures. NASA has announced plans to send a new rover to Mars in 2020, and this new mission, which is yet unnamed, could be specifically instrumented and prepared for the search for microbial life.

Today, continued study about Mars’ dynamic system is ever-imperative as plans to send humansthere loom closer to materialization. These discoveries could greatly alter preparations from SpaceX and NASA before we can finally set up camp on the Red Planet.

Test of 'Impossible' EmDrive Space Engine Passes Peer Review

Good news for all you EmDrive enthusiasts: A new study suggesting that the seemingly impossible space engine may actually work has passed the peer-review process.

The study — which was led by physicist Harold "Sonny" White, of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston — found that an EmDrive design generated small amounts of thrust in the lab. These results were leaked online recently, and now the paper has been published, in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics' Journal of Propulsion and Power.

Development of the EmDrive was begun by British scientist Roger Shawyer about 15 years ago. The engine works by bouncing microwaves around inside a chamber; it requires no propellant and could therefore usher in a new era of superfast and efficient spaceflight, advocates say.

There's just one little issue: The EmDrive shouldn't work, if you put any stock in Newton's Third Law of Motion ("for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction"). The EmDrive doesn't blast anything out the back, so just how it produces thrust (the equal and opposite reaction) is a mystery.

The new study is just a lab test, and it doesn't prove that the EmDrive definitely works — White and his team couldn't rule out all sources of experimental error, for example — so don't let visions of EmDrive-powered spaceships fill your head. However, its publication is the latest in a series of recent steps suggesting that the technology may be more than a sci-fi dream.
