Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Astronauts claim to have seen 'luminous dancing fairies' in space. What are they?
Imagine being an astronaut in the dark of space, drowsy and isolated, slowly drifting off to sleep. Then suddenly, just as your eyes begin to close, a flash of blue light floods your chamber. But as soon as you're alert again, the flash is gone and it's just you left in the darkness.
Astronaut Don Pettit described a similar experience back in 2012 while stationed on the International Space Station. He reported "flashes in my eyes, like luminous dancing fairies" that would appear "in the dark confines of my sleep station, with the droopy eyelids of pending sleep."
It's the kind of experience that would give most people the willies, and possibly even cause them to question their mental health. And in fact, that's been the official explanation for similar episodes documented by astronauts ever since the Apollo missions: hallucinations. Experiences like these are typically chalked up as part of the eerie, mind-altering effects of space travel.
But now images of a spectacular electric light show, taken by Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen during a 10-day stint on the International Space Station back in September 2015, are offering some vindication for these creepy experiences. You can see some video of these mysterious space lights in the video above.
"It is not every day that you get to capture a new weather phenomenon on film, so I am very pleased with the result - but even more so that researchers will be able to investigate these intriguing thunderstorms in more detail soon," said Mogensen in a press release.
The phenomenon, as indicated by Mogensen, does not actually come from space — it comes from weather here on Earth — but it can only be seen from high above the clouds. The blue jets have been identified as columns of electrical discharge that can fire up to over seven miles into space. Their durations are typically between 83 and 125 milliseconds, so a high speed camera is needed to capture them. It's easy to understand how they were confused for hallucinations for so long.
Although they've now been identified, the flashes still don't have an explanation. The leading theory right now is related to the phenomenon of lightning, only reversed. For instance, when negatively charged lightning hits the ground, it makes the clouds above more positively charged. Perhaps the blue jets arise from this.
Researchers plan to pour through Mogensen's observations in order to confirm or deny this theory, and hopefully glean some knowledge about how to predict where the lights will form. This way, future observations can be made more easily.
For now, though, the lights remain mere flickers in the eyes of astronauts, reminding them of the many eerie and wondrous things that we have yet to fully understand about the mysterious void of space.

Stel je voor dat je als astronaut in de ruimte bivakkeert en je slaapvertrek op een avond plotseling wordt verlicht door een blauwe lichtflits.
Dat overkwam onder meer astronaut Don Pettit in 2012 toen hij in het internationale ruimtestation ISS verbleef.
Hij maakte melding van ‘lichtflitsen in zijn ogen die leken op lichtgevende dansende elfen’. Ze verschenen in zijn slaapruimte vlak voordat hij in slaap viel.
Nieuw weerfenomeen
Dergelijke ervaringen worden normaal gesproken uitgelegd als hallucinaties als gevolg van de effecten van ruimtereizen.
De Deense astronaut Andreas Mogenson heeft in september 2015 vanuit het ISS foto’s gemaakt van mysterieuze lichten in de ruimte die de vreemde gebeurtenissen zouden kunnen verklaren.
“Het gebeurt niet iedere dag dat je een nieuw weerfenomeen vastlegt op camera,” zei hij in een persverklaring. “Ik ben dus erg blij met het resultaat.”
Boven de wolken
Het fenomeen is niet afkomstig uit de ruimte, maar van de aarde. Het kan echter alleen hoog boven de wolken worden waargenomen.
De blauwe jets kunnen zich tot wel 11 kilometer uitstrekken in de ruimte. Ze zijn gemiddeld tussen de 83 en 125 milliseconden te zien.
Hoewel ze zijn vastgelegd op camera, is er nog geen verklaring voor de flitsen. Vermoed wordt dat ze gerelateerd zijn aan bliksem.
Wonderlijke dingen

Volgens de voormalig Canadese Minister van Defensie, Paul Hellyer, werkt het buitenaardse ras van de Tall White Aliens samen met de Amerikanen.
Zij schijnen hun eigen basis te hebben op een Amerikaanse luchtmachtbasis en daar beginnen nu ook televisiestations merkwaardige dingen te rapporteren.
Afgelopen zondag zag een vrouw die in het noorden van Las Vegas woont op twee verschillend avonden vreemde lichten in noordelijke richting.
En dan kom je eigenlijk automatisch uit bij de nabij gelegen Nellis Airforce Base.
De vrouw heeft een andere getuige erbij gehaald en foto- en filmopnames gemaakt. Een lokaal televisiestation vond de waarneming interessant genoeg om er onderstaande reportage over te maken.
De Amerikaanse luchtvaartautoriteiten (FAA) zeggen dat er op dat moment geen vliegtuigen of drones in de lucht waren en willen niet speculeren over wat het dan wel kan zijn. Na de uitzending is er door een meteoroloog bevestigd dat wat de vrouw heeft gezien niet Venus was.
Dus, als het geen vliegtuig was, geen drone en geen planeet, wat was het dan wel?
We hebben al vaker geschreven over deze luchtmachtbasis en de activiteiten die daar plaatsvinden.
Er doen al lange tijd veel verhalen de ronde over dat er buitenaardsen zouden verblijven.
Een bekende en prominente persoonlijkheid die veel weet over buitenaards leven is de voormalig Canadese Minister van Defensie, Paul Hellyer.
1) Er zijn minimaal vier verschillende soorten buitenaardsen die de aarde de afgelopen duizenden jaren hebben bezocht.
2) De soorten hebben waarschijnlijk verschillende agenda’s en dienen niet beschouwd te worden als van hetzelfde ras.
3) Een van die soorten is wat men noemt de Tall Whites. Volgens Hellyer werkt dit type samen met de Verenigde Staten.
4) Er leven op dit moment buitenaardsen op aarde.
Volgens ufoloog Scott C. Waring is de plek waar de Tall Whites wonen een ondergrondse basis op het terrein van Nellis AFB.
Bekijk met dat alles in het achterhoofd de video onderaan dit artikel. Het is een opname die enkele dagen geleden is gemaakt bij Nellis AFB. Dan zie je beelden van onbekende vliegende objecten boven de luchtmachtbasis.
Er wordt ook wel gesuggereerd dat de Tall Whites eigenlijk helemaal geen buitenaards ras zijn, maar de Duitsers die tijdens en na de oorlog naar Antarctica wisten te ontkomen.
Dit zou misschien ook kunnen blijken uit één van de meest bekende buitenaardse ontvoeringen ooit, die van Betty en Barney Hill in 1961.
Opmerkelijk is dat Barney op een gegeven moment naast de buitenaardsen een nazi ziet staan. Het is één van de zeer weinige aanwijzingen dat de (Duitse) "derde macht" samenwerkt met buitenaardsen.
Het blijft natuurlijk speculeren, maar feit is wel dat er eigenlijk op permanente basis vreemde lichten/UFOs worden waargenomen.
Zoals de volgende video die is gemaakt door de man die als het ware in de achtertuin van Nellis Airforce Base woont, Steven Barone, die vaker videos maakt van deze verschijningen.

This video from last year left many people to believe that it shows another proof of space alien life. A black ring-shaped UFO, which looked like a sliced squid, was caught on video hovering above the skies of Argentina.
A YouTube clip has brought speculations over the origin of the bizarre phenomenon. It shows a pulsating object flying over Tigre, an Argentinian town just 28 km north of Buenos Aires.
Some believed it was a contrail of an alien war plane moving at supersonic speed. However, others suggested that it could have been chemtrails left in the sky by high-flying aircraft.
Another YouTube user gave a more straightforward explanation. Maria Laura Gal commented that the black ring was a plume of smoke from a cannon launched at Parque de la Costa, an amusement park nearby. She revealed that Parque de la Costa launched a cannon as part of its attraction.
Another one wrote that the smoke came from a special effect at the theme park as part of the Zombie Invasion show.
However, many still thought it was from an alien warplane. It just goes to show that people will believe what they want to believe and that only time can tell whether they are right or wrong.

UFO Crash in 1941
There are a small number of witnesses to a UFO crash in Cape Girardeau, South East Missouri in July 1941- Couple of mentions in documents about a UFO crash in 1941. A Letter was sent to UFO investigator Raymond Fowler and reprinted in a UFO crash retrieval report by Leonard Stringfield in July 1991 regarding this incident.
The letter was from a woman called Charlotte Mann about her
grandfather Reverend William Huffman who was born in August 1881. In April of 1941 at Cape Girardeau, he was asked by the Cape Girardeau police department to go to a plane crash outside of town. The letter said “Grandfather said it wasn’t an airplane or like any craft that he had ever seen. It was broken and scattered all around, but one large piece was still together and it appeared to have a rounded shape with no edges or seams. It has a very shiny metallic finish. You could see inside one section and see what looked like a metal chair with a panel with many dials and gauges, non familiar looking to him. He said that when he got there, men were already sifting through things. There were some police officers, plain clothed people and military men. There were three bodies not human that had been taken from the wreckage and laid on the ground.
Grandfather said prayers over them, so that he got a close look, but he did not touch them. He didn’t know what had killed them, because they did not appear to have had any injuries and they were not burned. It was hard for him to tell if they had suits, or if it was their skin. But they were covered head to foot in what looked like wrinkled aluminum foil. He could see no hair on the bodies and they had no ears. They were small framed like a child, about 4 feet tall, but had larger heads and longer arms than a human child. What makes something ‘credible?’ It depends on a lot of factors. When it comes to the topic of UFOs, what we have are thousands of people with distinct backgrounds, ranging from aviation companies, space agencies, military personnel of all ranks, to politicians and more who have all ‘testified’ to the existence of UFOs or intelligent extraterrestrials via experience in their given fields.
Daniel Sheehan is a Harvard trained lawyer and social activist who has spent virtually his entire life working on progressive social programs and initiatives. As the legal counsel on such nationally-recognized investigative cases involving government covert operations as the Karen Silkwood case, the Iran/Contra case, the Pentagon Papers case, the Watergate Burglary case, and the American Sanctuary Movement case, Daniel brings to the issue of Extraterrestrial Intelligence and the UFO Phenomenon a unique background in investigating and exposing the world of American governmental covert operations, “black budget” operations, mind control programs, government disinformation projects, covert warfare and clandestine operations. He established the Christic Institute in Washington, DC, which for nearly two decades was the country’s preeminent public-interest lawyer
On top of that, we also have official documentation that’s been released around the world by several governments and defense intelligence agencies outlining the existence of UFOs that perform maneuvers no known air craft can. UFOs aren’t really a fringe topic anymore, people just want to know the truth.
Daniel Sheehan, who while serving as the General Counsel to the United States Jesuit National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., was approached by the Director of the Library of Congress’ Science and Technology Division, Marcia Smith, in 1997 to help with a UFO research project. He says that during the course of his participation with Smith, she had told him that President-elect, Jimmy Carter, had requested that George Bush, Sr., who was Director of the CIA, brief him on the UFO situation. Bush refused, telling Carter that he did not have the need to know. If this story is true, and it does come from a credible source, then perhaps the CIA does know something about this subject.
Marcia Smith and she is the director of the science and technology division of the Library of Congress’s Congressional Research Service. She’s been working on a number of projects, and doing research on UFO stuff and extraterrestrial intelligence.” Marcia. Marcia told me that she had been asked by the Science and Technology Committee of the Library of Congress to undertake an evaluation of two separate issues. One was the potential existence of extraterrestrial intelligence. The second was the evaluation of the data on these phenomena of UFOs. I was pleasantly surprised to find that in her official capacity as director of the Official Congressional Research Service, that she had been asked by the United States Congress to do this investigation.
So she gave me a particular date and time and told me that I should go over to the new building at the Library of Congress, which was on the other side of Independence Avenue. I had mentioned before, when asked about this, this building had not even been opened yet. There were no people in it. I went over there, I believe it was on a Saturday morning and brought my identification. I went to the door, and there was an Executive Protective Service officer at the front door of the Library. I showed him my identification. He was a little puzzled because there was nobody in the building. No offices had been opened yet. I showed him my identification, and he made a call. A little bit to his surprise he said, “Yes, you are expected.” So I went in, and he told me what room I was expected to go to. I went down the hall, and went downstairs into the basement looking for this room. I found this place, and there was a room and these two security officers there at the door, and there was actually a third, plain clothed, sitting at a desk to the right of them. As I came in there I showed them all my identification, and they checked some documentation that they had, and said “Yes. I was supposed to be here.” As I started to go in, the man sitting at the desk told me I had to leave my briefcase there. I wouldn’t be allowed to take any notes. It turned out I had a yellow pad under my arm, so I set the briefcase down, gave it to him, and I went into the room. I was in there for some time.
There were a bunch of documents there. There was actually a film machine. It was like a little reel-to-reel – kind of a film machine there. I don’t know if it was 35mm, or whatever those things were. So there were actually some little films there. I looked at some of the films and they were like the classic films that you have seen sort of far distant shots of strange moving vehicles. So I decided I wasn’t making much headway on this, so I began to look into these little boxes that had these canisters there. There was one of these overhead filmstrip machines that was sitting in the room. I began to take these little canisters out, and open them up, and put the filmstrips in and look through these things. I don’t know how many I had gone through. I had gone through several, or at least a few of these boxes, when I hit upon this one canister that had film and pictures. I started going through, turning the little crank and there it was. Again I have people about this a number of times.
There were these photographs of unmistakable – of a UFO sitting on the ground. It had crashed, apparently. It had hit into this field and had dug up, kind of plowed this kind of trough through this field. It was wedged into the side of this bank. There was snow all around the picture. The vehicle was wedged into the side of this mud like embankment kind of up at an angle. There were Air Force personnel. As I cranked the little handle, and looked at additional photos, these Air Force people were taking pictures. In the photograph they were taking photographs of this vehicle. One of the photos actually had the Air Force personnel with this big long tape measure measuring this thing. You could see that they had these parkas on, with little fur around their hoods. You could see that they had the little name tags on their jacket. They were clearly U.S. Air Force personnel. I was kind of in this strange state saying, “Here it is!” So I turned the crank for more pictures, and I could see on the side of this craft these like little insignias – little symbols. So I turned ahead a couple of pictures to see if there was a closer picture. Sure enough there was. One of the photos had kind of a close-up picture of these symbols. So what I did is as, I was getting nervous. I looked around, and the guys weren’t watching or anything. They were outside of the room, so I took the yellow pad, and I flipped it open to the little grey cardboard backing and I flipped it under the screen. I shrank the size of the picture to the exact same size as the back of the yellow pad, and traced the actual symbols out in detail, verbatim of what was there. Then I said like I’m going to leave. That’s it. I’ve got this, and I don’t want to push my luck on this thing commercial break SDI: I spoke with Dan several times and he told me about the photos he saw and the drawing he from a picture in the Library of Congress. A small group of people and the corporations they run control virtually all of our media and decide what propaganda you should believe. Returning civilization to the seventh-century
Jihad is a struggle or fight against the enemies of Islam. If military jihad is required to protect the faith against others, it can be performed using anything from legal, diplomatic and economic to political means. If there is no peaceful alternative, Islam also allows the use of force, but there are strict rules of engagement.
Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (isis) already rules an area larger than the United Kingdom. On 29 June 2014, ISIS announced the establishment of a worldwide caliphate.
Al-Baghdadi was named its caliph, to be known as “Caliph Ibrahim”, and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant was renamed the Islamic State (IS). The inflow of jihadists that followed, from around the world, was unprecedented in its pace and volume, and is continuing. ISIS seized Mosul, Iraq, and the Iraqi forces are now attempting to retake. The Islamic State follows a distinctive variety of Islam whose beliefs about the path to the Day of Judgment matter to its strategy, and can help the West know its enemy and predict its behavior. The Islamic State requires territory to remain legitimate. Its bureaucracy is divided into civil and military arms, and its territory into provinces. Tithe Islamic State follows a medieval religious plan as directed by the Quran.
Much of what ISIS does looks nonsensical except in light of a sincere, carefully considered commitment to returning civilization to a seventh-century legal environment, and ultimately to bringing about the apocalypse. In conversation, they insist that they will not—cannot—waver from governing precepts that were embedded in Islam by the Prophet Muhammad and his earliest followers. They often speak in codes and allusions that sound old-fashioned to non-Muslims, but refer to specific traditions and texts of early Islam.

Virtually every major decision and law promulgated by the Islamic State adheres to what it calls, in its press, and on its billboards, license plates, stationery, and coins, “the Prophetic methodology,” which means following the prophecy and example of Muhammad, in punctilious detail. Muslims can reject the Islamic State; nearly all do. But pretending that it isn’t actually a religious, millenarian group, with theology that must be understood to be combated, has already led the United States to back foolish schemes to counter it. We’ll need to get acquainted with the Islamic State’s intellectual genealogy if we are to defeat it. General Muhammad raised an Army and succeeded to conquer much of Saudi Arabia.

Since Trump has become President the TV media has forgotten we are in a declared war by ISIS that intends to kill us, enslave us and make our women and children concubines. The motivation of the six companies that control the news seems to be trying to destroy Trump at whatever the cost.
What is the penalty for journalistic fraud? Who decides what punishment? The Main Stream TV Media must be held accountable. Space Fence
On Earth, Space Fence will take the form of radar arrays on Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific Ocean, about 2,100 nautical miles southwest of Honolulu. Built by Lockheed Martin, the Space Fence will be the largest digital array radar in the world when it is finally completed. Its Gallium Nitride-based system will be able to see far into space with unprecedented resolution to help the Air Force detect and track objects—both satellites and vehicles—and maintain a database of their orbits. At lower orbital altitudes it will be able objects as small as marbles.

Space Fence’s digital array radar is also similar to that found on the F-35. Scanned array radars such as these are good at directing energy for offensive purposes (jamming, sensor destruction) and given the amount of power Space Fence will use, it’s reasonable to assume it has some hefty capabilities in this regard. George Wolkind’s Letter
A contactee from a southern state got in touch with me to tell his story. We determined that his contacts began at five. His brother also was involved. The contact experience continued until ages 11 and 13. The entities were human like and originate from the Pleiades. Several other people were also contacted in his town. He has an implant on the neck area. When this person was a cook working in a restaurant in another southern state he met a man who for some unknown reason began talking to him about UFOs. The elderly gentleman gave him a book about the Roswell crash telling him that his name is mentioned in the book. After he read the book the man showed our contactee a scrap of aluminum looking metal.
He said, “Now fold it up into as many folds as you can…He did that placed it on the floor and watched come to ‘life” straightened itself out with no folds or creases visible…and there was alien writing on it. His name was Strickland. He said he came from area 51 to pick up the debris…Mr. Strickland told him not to tell anyone about this. He said, “The Men in Black would come to get him.”

Now I’m not sure if this is a UFO, but I saw circular lights coming out of a beam from Sun on February 7, 2017. I saw a circular light following the ISS and thought it was the space station itself, but found it strange when it vanished under clouds. I took pictures of the ISS download so it could have been their camera, but it seemed strange. I got more photos but can’t get them on your report. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Alabama Lights
My dad and I were in the car waiting at a stop light. I looked to the west, and I noticed a bulky craft on February 3, 2017.
A split second later it burst into two sections and slowly fell to the ground.
Goodyear — My daughter and I were driving at night in when we noticed four lights that looked very bright above the distant mountains on January 22, 2017. They lined up next to one another and stayed stationary for a few moments before one flew swiftly away. It would reappear and fly above the other three, move left again and then realign with the other four. The UFOs were solid bright white/yellow and were brilliant against the night sky. They flew fluidly and moved great lengths across the sky in an instant. They were much larger than stars. We and our neighbors felt excited and in awe. We have seen them before over the Estella Mountains to the East. They are common in this part of. We see them several times a year. Florida Lights
Mark at 11:25 pm on February 2, 2017, and saw objects through the trees. The first object was moving towards me. Thought it was work helicopter, then five seconds later three more objects came behind first one. I hurried and snapped two pictures. Thought then it was drones but objects made no noise and started turning south while ascending to 250-300 feet and snapped another picture. I didn’t see anyone else. Started recording video then fifth object appeared still from east but this one was heading more southwest. Four objects were now heading south and I heard what sounded like a shotgun. Stopped recording, started driving heading south, and objects were now about 500 to 750 feet up. There was no erratic movement, and turned south, Went back into work, showed coworkers pictures and video, asked what they thought, all said not drones or lanterns, or plane or helicopter. Idaho Light
Idaho Falls— I was meditating in my room when my sister went outside before going to sleep when she saw the flame object through the window and February 4, 2017. I went outside to see what it was and that’s when she saw the object that was coming towards our direction so she ran inside to let us know. My two nephews were outside, one phone camera kept giving him an error when trying to take video, he switched to take pictures and he managed to take four images of the object. When I got outside I saw the intense Red and Orange objects leaving. My nephew said object remained with a sphere shape until t passed over the house then started to change shape. He said: it resembled a Light Sabers from that movie Star Wars. It stretched out to a cigar shape then back to a sphere. There was this wave like pattern of fire and a strange silence. Clinton — A 14 year old friend was in my son’s room with two of my sons, one is 14 the other is 9. The nine-year-old was lying on the bed, and saw something weird in the window on January 5, 2017. The nine year said, “What is that”? They observed a slowly rotating black disk shaped UFO. It had big bright blue lights on the side of it and red lights on the top of it in a dome. t. It was behind our house and the disc moved really quick like it was hiding. It zipped on the other side of their house. I had both kids draw what they had seen in separate rooms. The 14 year old was petrified and was crying when I took him home. I don’t know what is going on, but I’m sick of it. These boys are scared! Not for pretend-for real.

Maryland Lights
Lusby— I had just stepped outside onto the deck on February 2, 2017, and looked upwards at the very clear sky to observe the moon. I also was looking for the planet that has been around it the past few nights. I think it was Venus, if not Jupiter. I saw a bright light moving on the left of the moon gaining altitude. It flickered randomly and then vanished. The sky was extremely clear so there was no where it could have hid. The only possible explanation is either the lights were turned off, or is fly away so fast that I didn’t see it. This has been my 4th sighting so far and it resembled a glowing orb that I saw in Florida. I know what to look for when spotting UFOs. Missouri Lights
Springfield – About 7:30 PM, I opened my door to get call my cat in and observed a string of orange lights hovering above the apartment complex across the street. They were above the tree line but probably no further south than five. They were traveling in a zig zag pattern like you see on a heart monitor. Some of the spheres however seemed to be clustered in groups of three lights in a formation resembling a triangle. Some of the brighter lights on the triangle seemed to show illumination of being attached to a solid black triangular craft that seemed to be revolving as it flew. All lights were travelling in a steady line heading west ascending in altitude making a faint whirring hum. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Las Vegas — My aunt, uncle, mom and I took a ride through red rock canyon, where we took these photos of scenery through the windshield of my uncle’s car on March 15, 2016.
Because my phone is an android and I use a Mac I only looked at these photos recently and was shocked to see what looks like a UFO hovering prominently in the sky.
The day I took these photos none of us saw or noticed this object in the sky. It was not visible and appeared only when photographed.

North Carolina Triangle
Wilson — My sister woke up to some lights in the sky that she saw out of the window. She thought it looked weird due to fact that there were big lights in a triangle shape on the front of the object and smaller lights in the middle and the back.
She took a video and showed me and I was convinced that it had to be a ufo. First time we have seen this!
She began taking a video until it flew over our house and she lost track of it.

Pennsylvania Light
Denver — When I first noticed this light I was walking my dog in the back yard of our home on January 31, 2017. I usually look at the stars and was headed back inside and I saw what didn’t belong there. There were no flashing lights like all planes have and it was extremely bright. I stood and watched for a couple minutes and at first it didn’t seem to be moving. Then I noticed it was headed in our direction. I called for my wife to come look at it. She had the same thoughts. The movement was very subtle. It hung around long enough for me to get my binoculars and take video. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Thru binoculars I knew it wasn’t a star. We took videos of it on my cell phone. It looked like a spinning donut with colored lights. It morphed in and out of shapes.

Newcastle — I was in the yard out the back looking at the stars on January 29, 2017. The moon had gone down so Venus was prominent. I turned on HDR mode on my phone and tried again with little success. I went back through my images and saw a purple glowing shape in the sky. It wasn’t very detailed and had bad graphics but it was something. I took 20 more pictures to see if it was a trick of light and if I could recreate it. No other images I took resulted in the light. I did not see the object with my bare eyes, only in the split second I took on my phone. I started to ponder whether it could be extraterrestrial but was too afraid to really believe it. After some thought though, I do believe that this could be alien or some unusual object in the sky as creating the ‘trick’ again seemed impossible. Thanks to MUFON CMS
Canada Contrail
Castlegar — I was out on the back porch when my husband pointed out what looked to me like a jet at first on February 2, 2017. It was a quick presumption on my part and due to the cloud like trails it was leaving behind.
But with a bit more observation it became obvious that it was not. It was moving far too slow to be a jet and was falling toward the ground. Looking through the binoculars I could see two bright orbs of light at the leading edge which seemed to separate slightly from one another. The decent was far slower than I imagine gravity would bring a solid object down. It took at least five minutes to get from mid sky to where I could no longer see it behind the trees. My husband saw another one in the sky. This time I thought to grab my camera. It looked and acted almost identical to yesterday’s sighting, a bright circle of light falling at a slow rate of speed leaving two trails behind it. Two very fast jets flew across the sky from west to east in the same area as it descended.
I spotted another one higher up that looks as though it was falling at the same slow rate of speed. This one broke into four segments but all four fell at the same rate. These same types of objects were witnessed on two occasions. I am very curious to know what exactly I witnessed. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Dominican Republic Light
Santa Barbara De Samana — Myself and girl friend were on vacation at the Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa, on December 23, 2016. We were downhill from the resort admiring the southern view overlooking the ocean when off in the distance we observed a flashing, pulsating strange green light. My girl friend pointed it out, then turned to light a smoke, and in that time it started to move. The light traveled from south to west of our position. Not too far over the bay, because before I knew it, it had passed directly over our heads with lightning speed. The burr sound which leads me to believe, it was 150 feet over our heads extremely fast towards the resort and makes two right angle turns. It vanished over top of the resort. Port Motueka – I was at the Samaritas Cafe on February 5, 2017, while waiting for my order, I took a photo of Mt Arthur with the Port Motueka Marina in the foreground. I uploaded some photos from my camera to my laptop today and saw that there was a dark oval shape in the photo in the distance and above one of the yacht masts. The photos taken at different locations before the photo and after the photo did not have a dark oval. As soon as I saw the dark oval in the photo I thought wow that looks like a UFO. Sweden Triangle
Ljungby— At the time I was studying for a history test on February 7, 2017, and got bored and saw something that blinked and had many lights that where blue, red, and purple. At first I thought that it was a plane but when I ran to the window I saw that it couldn’t be a plane. Instead it had a triangle or oval shape, as it was a very fast UFO.
It kind of looked like if something chased it because it was so fast. I lost sight when it flew away and at the same time my phone had 2% left so I filmed about 30 seconds. My family was downstairs but if I ran down they wouldn’t believe me.

UK/England Lights
Lame– As I was walking home having just got off the bus, I saw a strobbing blue light in front of me and assumed it was an ambulance on February 3, 2017. It was making its way down the hill in the background. I realized that it was actually moving too high for that. It moved in a slow steady motion in a straight path. I got two pictures of it as it approached the house on the corner at an elevation twice the height of the house (but far in the background). I then started shooting a video of it but lost sight of it after 20 seconds or so. It appeared to have blinked out when it just passed to the left of the house. On the video it just seems to blink out. Time is exact, but website would not recognize the fact that I selected exact. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Op welke buitenaards werelden is de kans het grootst dat we leven tegenkomen? Iedere twee jaar publiceert Scientias.nl de top 10 kandidaten voor buitenaards leven. Dit jaar zijn er slechts twee nieuwe binnenkomers.
De afgelopen jaren worden steeds meer exoplaneten gevonden. Er is nog geen aardachtige exoplaneet gevonden waarvan astronomen met honderd procent zekerheid kunnen vaststellen dat er leven is. Daarvoor zijn telescopen nog niet goed genoeg. Wel weten onderzoekers onder welke omstandigheden het leven op aarde zich ontwikkeld heeft en of deze omstandigheden ook op andere exoplaneten mogelijk zijn. Eigenlijk vergelijken ze exoplaneten dus met onze planeet om vast te stellen of deze leven kunnen bevatten. Zo gaan wetenschappers ervan uit dat een planeet vloeibaar water moet kunnen bevatten wil er leven mogelijk zijn. Dat betekent dat een planeet niet te dicht bij zijn ster mag staan (dan verdampt het water), maar ook niet te ver weg (dan bevriest het water). En zo zijn er nog wel meer factoren die de wetenschap op dit moment nodig acht, wil buitenaards leven op een bepaalde planeet mogelijk zijn. NASA vatte de criteria als volgt samen: “Leefbare omgevingen moeten uitgebreide gebieden met vloeibaar water, omstandigheden die gunstig zijn voor de totstandkoming van complexe organische moleculen en energiebronnen die stofwisseling mogelijk maken, hebben.”
CRITERIA VERANDEREN
Wetenschappers stellen bepaalde eisen aan een planeet, alvorens deze zich ‘leefbaar’ of ‘bewoonbaar’ mag noemen. Of buitenaards leven diezelfde eisen stelt, blijft nog even gissen. Het is best mogelijk dat we door de jaren heen ontdekken dat leven flexibeler is dan gedacht en ook op meer plaatsen dan gedacht kan ontstaan. In dit geval zullen de criteria moeten worden aangepast en zullen waarschijnlijk opeens veel meer planeten het stempel ‘leefbaar’ krijgen. Dat is dus een voortdurend proces van onderzoeken, ontdekken en onze ideeën omtrent buitenaards leven bijschaven.
Inmiddels zijn er meer dan 3.500 exoplaneten gevonden. In 2016 is het bestaan van 1458 exoplaneten bevestigd. Een record! Planeten die mogelijk bewoonbaar zijn, belanden in de Habitable Exoplanets Catalog. In februari 2013 publiceerden we de lijst voor het eerst. In oktober 2015 volgde een update. Dit is de derde keer dat we de tien beste kandidaten op een rij zetten:
10. EPIC 201367065 d (2015: 8e plaats) De hekkensluiter van deze editie is EPIC 201367065 d. De kans is groot dat deze exoplaneet over twee jaar niet meer in de lijst staat. Moederster EPIC 201367065 is een rode dwergster. Om deze ster draaien drie superaardes. De buitenste superaarde bevindt zich in de leefbare zone. Deze exoplaneet is 1,5 keer groter dan de aarde en ontvangt 1,4 keer meer licht dan de aarde ontvangt. Hierdoor is het vrij warm op het oppervlak, maar mogelijk is er wel vloeibaar water te vinden. De exoplaneet EPIC 201367065 d is ongeveer 150 lichtjaar van de aarde verwijderd. Dit is relatief dichtbij, dus wie weet gaan we deze exoplaneet in de verre toekomst bezoeken.

Waar kijken onderzoekers precies naar wanneer ze vaststellen hoe sterk een planeet op de aarde lijkt? Naar verschillende dingen. Bijvoorbeeld naar de straal en ontsnappingssnelheid (de minimale snelheid waarmee een object zonder aandrijving van de planeet moet worden geschoten wil het niet op de planeet terugvallen, maar van de planeet vandaan blijven bewegen). Ook kijken onderzoekers naar de oppervlaktetemperatuur. Overigens tellen lang niet alle factoren die onderzoekers beoordelen, even sterk mee in het eindoordeel. Zo weegt de oppervlaktetemperatuur veel zwaarder dan bijvoorbeeld de straal.
9. Gliese 832c (2015: 7e plaats) Gliese 832c staat een plek hoger en scoort 0.81 op de Earth Similarity Index. Gliese 832c is 5,4 keer zo zwaar als de aarde en doet 36 dagen over een rondje rond zijn ster Gliese 832. Dit is een rode dwergster, die veel minder fel en warm is dan onze zon. Hierdoor ontvangt Gliese 832c ongeveer evenveel energie van die ster als de aarde van de zon ontvangt. Volgens wetenschappers is het mogelijk dat op de planeet aardachtige temperaturen heersen. Ook zouden er grote verschillen zijn tussen de seizoenen. Tenminste: als we ervan uitgaan dat de atmosfeer van de planeet vergelijkbaar is met de atmosfeer van onze aarde. Als de atmosfeer een grotere dichtheid heeft – iets wat onderzoekers eigenlijk van de atmosfeer van superaardes verwachten – kan deze planeet wel eens veel te warm zijn voor leven.
8. K2-72 e (nieuw in de top 10) De eerste nieuwe binnenkomer in de lijst van 2017 is K2-72 e. Het bestaan van deze exoplaneet werd in 2016 bevestigd. K2-72 e draait samen met drie andere rotsachtige planeten om de dwergster K2-72. K2-72 e is met een ESI van 0.82 de meest interessante wereld. De exoplaneet is 1,4 keer groter dan de aarde en doet er 24,2 dagen over om een rondje om zijn moederster te draaien. K2-72 e is niet makkelijk te bezoeken, want de afstand bedraagt 181 lichtjaar.
7. Kepler-452b (2015: 6e plaats) In 2015 is er een aardachtige exoplaneet gevonden die om een zonachtige ster draait: Kepler-452b. Met een ESI van 0.83 is Kepler-452b een kandidaat voor buitenaards leven. De exo-aarde Kepler-452b is 60% groter dan de aarde en draait op een afstand van ruwweg 165 miljoen kilometer om zijn moederster. Dit betekent dat de exoplaneet 10% verder verwijderd is van zijn moederster dan de aarde van de zon. Een jaar op Kepler-452b duurt 385 dagen. Dat komt verrassend dicht in de buurt van een aards jaar. De ster Kepler-452 is 1,5 miljard jaar ouder dan de zon, waardoor de ster en de exoplaneet zes miljard jaar oud zijn. In de eerste vijf miljard jaar kreeg de exo-aarde minder energie van zijn ster dan de aarde van de zon ontvangt, maar dit verschil is nu gelijk getrokken. Dit komt doordat de ster langzaam heter en helderder wordt. Op dit moment is de ster Kepler-452 10% groter en 20% helderder dan de zon. De oppervlaktetemperatuur is gelijk. “Het is verbazingwekkend dat deze planeet zich al zes miljard jaar in de leefbare zone om een ster bevindt”, zegt data-analist Jon Jenkins van het Kepler-team. “Dit betekent dat leven meer tijd heeft gehad om zich te ontwikkelen. Tenminste… als alle ingrediënten voor leven aanwezig zijn.”

6. Kepler-62e (2015: 5e plaats) In 2013 vond NASA’s Kepler-telescoop Kepler-62e. Deze exoplaneet bevindt zich op het binnenste randje van de leefbare zone rondom de ster Kepler-62. Kepler-62e is ongeveer 60 procent groter dan de aarde. “Kepler-62e heeft waarschijnlijk een heel bewolkte lucht en is warm en vochtig, zelfs op de polen,” vertelt onderzoeker Dimitar Sasselov van het Kepler-team. Maar is er ook leven? Misschien! “Het leven op deze planeten zou zich onder water afspelen, zonder gemakkelijke toegang tot metalen, elektriciteit of vuur voor het verwerken van metalen”, zegt onderzoeker Lisa Kaltenegger. “Desalniettemin is het een prachtige blauwe planeet.”
5. Kepler-442b (2015: 4e plaats) Op een flinke afstand van 1.100 lichtjaar van de aarde treffen we de exoplaneet Kepler-442b aan. Een jaar op 442b duurt 112 dagen. Dit is kort, maar dat komt doordat deze exoplaneet om een rode dwergster draait. De planeet is 33% groter dan de aarde en de kans dat de exoplaneet rotsachtig is, is 60 procent. De kans is 97 procent dat Kepler-442b zich in de leefbare zone rondom Kepler-442 bevindt. “We weten niet zeker of deze planeet echt leefbaar is,” benadrukt onderzoeker David Kipping. “Het enige wat we kunnen zeggen, is dat het een veelbelovende kandidaat is.”

4. Gliese 667C c (2015: 3e plaats) Hoe hogerop we in de catalogus komen, hoe interessanter het natuurlijk wordt. Eén van de interessantere exoplaneten is Gliese 667C c, op zo’n 23 lichtjaar van de aarde. Deze exoplaneet staat al een tijdje in de top 10, maar daalt iedere twee jaar wel een plek. De planeet heeft een straal die 1,9 keer groter is dan die van de aarde. De geschatte oppervlaktetemperatuur doet ook aan aardse temperaturen denken: zo’n 27 graden Celsius. Met al die interessante eigenschappen is het geen wonder dat de planeet goed scoort op de Earth Similarity Index: een 0.84.
3. Kepler-296 e (2015: 2e plaats) De bronzen plak gaat naar Kepler-296 e.Deze exoplaneet heeft een Earth Similarity Index van 0.85. De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie NASA maakte het bestaan van deze planeet op 2 februari 2014 bekend. Kepler-296e is een superaarde met een straal die 1,75 keer groter is dan de radius van onze aarde. De planeet draait iedere 34,1 dagen om de rode dwerg Kepler-296. De kans is groot dat er vloeibaar water voorkomt op het oppervlak van deze exoplaneet. Het is wel een eindje reizen: 1.089 lichtjaar om precies te zijn.
2. Proxima Centauri b (nieuw in de top 10) De hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer is Proxima Centauri b. Deze exoplaneet met drie ‘zonnen’ is een interessante kandidaat om te bezoeken. Bezoeken? Ja, de afstand tussen de aarde en deze exoplaneet is slechts vier lichtjaar. Klein genoeg voor een geavanceerd ruimtevaartuig – zoals Breakthrough Starshot van Stephen Hawking – om deze buitenaardse wereld van dichtbij te bewonderen. Hoewel deze exoplaneet in de achtertuin van ons zonnestelsel is gevonden, lijkt Proxima Centauri b niet op de aarde. Zo is Proxima Centauri een rode dwergster, die minder sterk schijnt als onze zon. Proxima Centauri b draait op een afstand van zeven miljoen kilometer om zijn moederster. Dit betekent dat het oppervlak van deze exoplaneet aan meer uv- en röntgenstraling wordt blootgesteld dan het oppervlak van de aarde. Als er water voorkomt op Proxima Centauri b, dan is er sprake van een oceaan op één helft van de planeet of een oceaan rond de evenaar.

1. Kepler-438 b (2015: 1e plaats) Kepler 438 b staat nog steeds bovenaan deze top 10. De in 2015 ontdekte exoplaneet heeft een ESI van 0.88. Kepler-438 b heeft 35 dagen nodig om een rondje om een rode dwergster te draaien. De exoplaneet is slechts 12 procent groter dan de aarde. Wetenschappers schatten de kans dat deze planeet rotsachtig is op 70 procent. Kepler-438 b ontvangt wel meer licht dan de aarde, waardoor het onzeker is of er echt buitenaards leven aanwezig is. Daarnaast ontvangt Kepler-438b – net als Proxima Centauri b – meer straling, waardoor er een kans is dat de exoplaneet geen atmosfeer heeft. De ‘dader’ is de moederster Kepler-438b, die gigantische zonnevlammen produceert. Deze zonnevlammen zijn tien keer krachtiger dan de krachtigste uitbarstingen op het oppervlak van onze eigen zon. We komen er ook niet makkelijk achter of er leven mogelijk is op Kepler-438 b, want de potentiële tweede aarde is 470 lichtjaar van ons verwijderd.
De catalogus verandert voortdurend. Zo telde deze in augustus 2012 nog zes planeten. In 2013 telde de catalogus nog negen exemplaren en nu – in 2017 – maar liefst 44 exoplaneten. 15 van deze 44 exoplaneten lijken op de aarde. De andere 29 stuks zijn veel groter. De kans is groot dat de lijst binnen vijf jaar uit honderd exo-aardes bestaat. Overigens zijn niet alleen mogelijk bewoonbare exoplaneten plekken om in de gaten te houden. Ook op diverse exomanen behoort leven wellicht tot de mogelijkheden. Ondertussen worden ook de telescopen steeds beter en worden de kansen om daadwerkelijk sporen van leven te vinden, dus groter. Wellicht kunnen we over enkele jaren dan ook vaststellen of mogelijk leefbare exoplaneten werkelijk bewoond zijn.

Een speciale onderzoekscommissie heeft nagedacht over hoe zo’n missie eruit moet zien en wat de waarde ervan is.
En daar is een fraai rapport uitgerold dat je hier in zijn geheel kunt lezen (maar dat we in dit artikel natuurlijk even bondig voor je samenvatten). Het rapport is inmiddels aangeboden aan NASA.
Buitenaards leven De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie droomt van een missie naar Europa. En dat is ook niet zo gek, want Jupiters maan Europa is waarschijnlijk de beste plek om op zoek te gaan naar buitenaards leven. De maan bezit – hoogstwaarschijnlijk – een ondergrondse oceaan waarin de omstandigheden prettig genoeg zijn voor het ontstaan en in stand houden van levende wezens.
Aangenomen wordt dat onder de 25 kilometer dikke laag ijs die Europa rijk is een vloeibare oceaan te vinden is.

SDT Kortom: Europa is waarschijnlijk de spannendste maan die ons zonnestelsel rijk is en NASA wil er naartoe. Maar is dat haalbaar? Is onderzoek ter plaatse werkelijk waardevol? En wat moeten we daar dan precies gaan onderzoeken? En welke instrumenten hebben we daar dan voor nodig? Over dat soort vragen heeft een Science Definition Team (kortweg SDT) zich nu gebogen. Het resulteert in een fraai rapport waar je hart waarschijnlijk wat sneller van gaat kloppen, want een missie naar Europa wordt nu wel erg concreet!
Zo zou een lander op Europa eruit kunnen zien.

Lander In het rapport presenteren de onderzoekers een conceptmissie die bestaat uit een Europa Lander. Deze zou – door de schadelijke straling die het oppervlak van de maan bombardeert – tussen de 20 en 40 dagen actief kunnen zijn. In die korte periode zouden de instrumenten aan boord van de lander drie doelen moeten nastreven: – Zoeken naar sporen van leven op Europa – Ter plekke de leefbaarheid van de maan vaststellen – De kenmerken van het oppervlak en de omstandigheden onder het oppervlak vaststellen voor toekomstige missies naar de maan.Welke instrumenten moeten er dan mee om deze doelen na te kunnen streven? Nou, je moet dan onder meer denken aan instrumenten die microbiële cellen en organische stoffen op kunnen sporen. Met dergelijke instrumenten zouden we leven aan moeten kunnen treffen als het op Europa net zo overvloedig voorkomt als op één van de meest extreme en verlaten plaatsen op aarde: het Vostokmeer.
Grote waarde Dat een dergelijke missie van grote waarde is, staat buiten kijf. “De missie zou onze kennis over Europa als waterwereld – zelfs als we geen overtuigende sporen van leven vinden – enorm vergroten en de basis leggen voor toekomstige robotische exploratie van Europa.”

Uitdagingen Het klinkt allemaal heel eenvoudig, maar we moeten wel bedenken dat dit een baanbrekende missie is. We zijn nog nooit op Europa geweest. En we hebben op een ander hemellichaam dan de aarde nog nooit direct gezocht naar leven. Ook de ‘planetaire protectie’ is een puntje van aandacht. Bij een bezoek aan een potentieel leefbaar hemellichaam moeten we natuurlijk oppassen dat we dit hemellichaam niet ‘besmetten’ met microben afkomstig van de aarde. Want die microben kunnen later onterecht aangezien worden als ‘Europees leven’ en/of schadelijk zijn voor eventuele levensvormen op Europa. Aangezien Europa gezien wordt als de beste kandidaat voor buitenaards leven in ons zonnestelsel, is planetaire protectie tijdens deze missie zeer belangrijk. Het betekent dat daarvoor protocollen moeten worden ontwikkeld en zeer goed nagedacht moet worden over methoden om besmetting te voorkomen.
Discussie Al met al moet er dus nog veel werk verzet worden, maar lijkt een missie naar Europa absoluut de moeite waard. Of deze ook werkelijkheid wordt, is afwachten. De komende maanden zal er uitgebreid over het rapport gediscussieerd worden.

Dat we Europa binnenkort wel van iets dichterbij gaan bekijken, staat vast. Aan het begin van het volgende decennium wil NASA een ruimtesonde in een baan rond Jupiter plaatsen. Deze ruimtesonde zal 45 scheervluchten langs Europa maken. Tijdens die scheervluchten onderzoekt de sonde de leefbaarheid van de maan door te kijken naar diens samenstelling en de kenmerken van de ijslaag en de veronderstelde oceaan daaronder. Ook zal de ruimtesonde detailfoto’s maken van het oppervlak. Die kunnen dan eventueel weer gebruikt worden om een landingsplek te kiezen voor de Europa Lander.

Magic Leap, the secretive AR company, promises that their technology is going to transform how people experience reality. However, they have, thus far, only offered teasers of their work.
Now, a leaked photo has finally revealed what the prototype of their device looks like, and it still seems to be quite some ways from completion.

Some time back, Magic Leap raised a staggering $1.4 billion in venture capital in order to make mixed reality our new reality. Since then, a proverbial firestorm of media coverage has swarmed around them. Part of this stems from the secretive nature of the company.
Part of this firestorm stems from the secretive nature of the company. Few people have tried the tech (and ever fewer journalists), so no one really knows what to expect; however, if the teasers are any indication, whatever they develop is going to be pretty fantastic.
TAKE A REAL, HARD LOOK
Now, it seems that we may finally be seeing what Magic Leap has really been up to. Business Insider asserts that an image of a prototype was just leaked to them. Their source said that the device is known as “PEQ0,” which is a stand-in name that was derived from an internal “prototype naming scheme” that Magic Leap uses.
Business Insider tried to reach out to the company for comment and to verify the information, but they didn’t hear anything back by the time the article was released. As you can see in the below image, the prototype
As you can see in the below image, the prototype definitely looks like a prototype. And this is a bit of a problem.
The issue with this is that, in recent months, Magic Leap has been accused of using erroneous and misleading marketing material to make the public (and reporters) believe that the technology is a lot farther along than it truly is.
Specifically, Reed Albergotti published an article in which he alleged that Magic Leap had “oversold” its system, using different tech for the demo than what will be used in the final product. In response, in a memo to employees, CEO Rony Abovitz stated that the company shouldn’t be sidetracked: “Ignore all of this. Focus on what we are doing, and we ship a great product. That will speak loudly and reverberate for many years.”
This leak also comes at a prime time, as there is a board meeting next week that is generally seen as “a milestone in the product’s development.” In short, it is a chance to show, once and for all, that Magic Leap can truly do all that they claim—shrink augmented reality tech so that it is truly portable.
If this prototype is any indication, they have a lot of work to do before next week.

The nearby alien planet Proxima b is not a great candidate to host life as we know it, a new study suggests.
Immensely powerful flares from Proxima b's parent star likely stripped some of life's key building blocks from the Earth-size alien world's atmosphere long ago, according to the study, which investigated the life-hosting potential of planets circling the small, dim stars known as red dwarfs.
Red dwarfs are the most common stars in the Milky Way, making up about 75 percent of the galaxy's 1 trillion or so stellar inhabitants. Whereas red dwarfs are substantially cooler than sun-like stars, they tend to be more active, blasting out potent "superflares" more frequently, especially when red dwarfs are young. The new study took such characteristics into account, developing a new model of red dwarf "habitable zones" — the range of distances from a star at which liquid water should be stable on a world's surface — that considers more than just a parent star's heat.
"By the classical definition, the habitable zone around red dwarfs must be 10 to 20 times closer in than Earth is to the sun," study lead author Vladimir Airapetian, a solar scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, said in a statement. "Now we know these red dwarf stars generate a lot of X-ray and extreme ultraviolet emissions at the habitable zones of exoplanets through frequent flares and stellar storms."
This is bad news from a habitability perspective. The team's modeling results suggest that such radiation can strip the electrons off molecules in orbiting planets' atmospheres. These electrons escape into space easily, and they drag the newly created, positively charged ions with them as they go.
Light elements, such as hydrogen, are lost fairly easily via this process. And superflare radiation can kick the "atmospheric erosion" up a notch, driving off oxygen and nitrogen — key building blocks of life — as well, the new study found.
"Considering oxygen escape alone, the model estimates a young red dwarf could render a close-in exoplanet uninhabitable within a few tens [of millions] to a hundred million years," NASA officials wrote in the same statement. "The loss of both atmospheric hydrogen and oxygen would reduce and eliminate the planet’s water supply before life would have a chance to develop."
The team's work suggests that this fate has likely befallen the recently discovered Proxima b, which orbits within the "traditional" habitable zone of the red dwarf Proxima Centauri. (This star is the sun's nearest neighbor, lying just 4.22 light-years from Earth.)
"We have pessimistic results for planets around young red dwarfs in this study, but we also have a better understanding of which stars have good prospects for habitability," Airapetian said. "As we learn more about what we need from a host star, it seems more and more that our sun is just one of those perfect parent stars to have supported life on Earth."

Last year, a consortium led by billionaire Yuri Milner and physicist Stephen Hawking announced a plan to get to Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system to Earth. Called the Breakthrough Starshot Initiative, the plan is to send ultra-light "nanoprobes" to the system in 20 years by accelerating them to 20 percent of the speed of light using powerful lasers.
A group of German researchers — while fully supportive of the initiative — worried that without an important tweak, however, the science might suffer. One of these nanoprobes would be able to dash the Earth-moon distance in just six seconds at that speed. With this in mind, the researchers devised some ideas about how to slow the nanoprobes down so they can carry out some observations when they arrive at their destination (rather than zipping through the system at high speed), potentially spotting Proxima Centauri b, a possible habitable planet that orbits Alpha Centauri's oddball red dwarf sibling, Proxima Centauri.
"The solution is for the probe's sail to be redeployed upon arrival so that the spacecraft would be optimally decelerated by the incoming radiation from the stars in the Alpha Centauri system," said scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Gottingen, led by Rene Heller, in a statement.
"During the approach to Alpha Centauri, the braking force would increase," they added. "The stronger the braking force, the more effectively the spacecraft's speed can be reduced upon arrival. Vice versa, the same physics could be used to accelerate the sail at departure from the solar system, using the sun as a photon cannon."
The plan is for the spacecraft to go to the star Alpha Centauri A at a distance of about four million kilometers, moving at about 4.6 percent the speed of light. Any higher and the probe would go right past the star, rather than being caught in the star's gravitational field.
If the probe goes in at just the right speed and just the right place, the spacecraft would be attracted by the star's gravitational field and could be swung around the star, similar to how spacecraft in our solar system sometimes move between planets. One option here would be to keep the spacecraft in the Alpha Centauri A system to look at its planets, but the scientists would prefer to also include Alpha Centauri B and Proxima Centauri, the other two stars in the system.
"The sail could be configured so that the stellar pressure from star A brakes and deflects the probe toward Alpha Centauri B, where it would arrive after just a few days. The sail would then be slowed again and catapulted towards Proxima Centauri, where it would arrive after another 46 years — about 140 years after its launch from Earth."
The astronomers said they will discuss their ideas with the Breakthrough Starshot Initiative to see if this mission extension could be included — that is, if Breakthrough ever makes it to space at all. The mission is at a very early stage right now and is not guaranteed to fly. The astronomers, for their part, said that they are optimistic that Breakthrough could fly successfully eventually.
"Many great visions in the history of mankind had to struggle with seemingly insurmountable obstacles," Heller said. "We could soon be entering an era in which humans can leave their own star system to explore exoplanets using fly-by missions."

A new technique that removes the light of foreground galaxy clusters is giving astronomers a direct look at a generation of galaxies dating back to the universe's baby years.
The discovery is considered a key piece of evidence for a critical, but poorly understood period of time when the universe switched from being dark to radiating light.
Scientists theorize that energy from first-generation galaxies transformed the dark, electrically neutral universe into ionized and radiating plasma. But these faint galaxies are not easy to find.
This week, University of Texas astronomer Rachael Livermore and colleagues describe a successful hunt thanks to a new technique that combines deep-field Hubble Space Telescope images with what is known as "wavelet decomposition" — a light-masking equivalent of noise-canceling headphones — to computationally remove light from foreground galaxy clusters.
"The wavelet transform allows us to decompose an image into its components on different physical scales. Thus, we can isolate structures on large scales… and remove them, allowing objects on smaller scales to be identified more easily," the scientists wrote in a draft of their upcoming paper, published on arXiv.org.

Ironically, astronomers first have to rely on galaxy clusters, which warp spacetime with their massive gravity, to serve as naturally occurring lenses that boost Hubble's resolving power more than 100 times.
By then masking the light, Livermore, University of Texas astronomer Steven Finkelstein and Space Telescope Science Institute astronomer Jennifer Lotz found 167 galaxies that are 10 times fainter than any previously known, a number that shows "strong support" for how many early galaxies would have been needed to re-ionize the universe.
A more direct detection method will come after Hubble's successor, the James Webb Space Telescope, is launched next year.

Truman, who was president while Eisenhower was Supreme Commander, and who, after being asked if he had been briefed on the topic of Unidentified Flying Objects, stated on live television:
Oh yes we discuss it at every conference that we had with the military, and they never were able to make me a concrete report on it. . . . There’s always things like that going on, flying saucers and they’ve had other things, you know.” (source)
If we fast forward to more than 50 years later, one thing has become extremely obvious: UFOs are an international phenomenon, and they have gained the attention of governments, intelligence agencies, and military agencies around the world, particularly since so many military encounters have been recorded.
“The nations of the world are currently working together in the investigation of the UFO phenomenon. There is an international exchange of data. Maybe when this group of nations acquires more precise and definite information, it will be possible to release the news to the world.”

Some startling examples of UFO encounters were outlined by Dr. Jacques Vallee, a scientist notable for co-developing the first computerized mapping of Mars for NASA, and for his work at SRI International on the network information center for ARPANET, a precursor to the modern Internet, in a paper he published in the Journal of Scientific Exploration titled “Estimates of Optical Power Output in Six Cases Of Unexplained Aeriel Objects With Defined Luminosity Characteristics.” (source)(source )
These objects are commonly witnessed by military pilots and tracked on both air and ground radar simultaneously. They are seen performing maneuvers that defy our current understanding of physics. As outlined in the publication above, often when pilots enter the vicinity of these objects, their critical instrumentation and electronics systems all go offline.
One classic example comes from the Iranian Air force, who dispatched two F-4 fighter jets to check out an unexplained flying object. The United States took this encounter very seriously, sending a report of what happened to multiple national security officials and to U.S. President Gerald R. Ford, CIA Director George Bush, and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger, among others. Both of the F-4 interceptor pilots reported seeing the object visually, and it was also tracked on their airborne radar. Both planes experienced their critical instrumentation and electronics go offline at a distance of twenty-five miles from the object. Here is an excerpt from the report:
As the F-4 approached a .range of 25 NM he lost all instrumentation and communications (UHF and intercom). He broke off the intercept and headed back to Shahrokhi. When the F-4 turned away from the object and apparently was no longer a threat to it the aircraft regained all instrumentation and communications. . . .
The object and the pursuing F-4 continued on a course to the south of Tehran when another brightly lighted object, estimated to be one half to one third the apparent size of the moon, came out of the original object. This second object headed straight toward the F-4 at a very fast rate of speed. The pilot attempted to fire an AIM-9 missile at the object but at that Instant his weapons control panel went off and he lost all communications (UHF and Interphone). (source)
The report also described how a smaller object detached from the bigger object, turned inside the arc of the F-4 itself, and then regained the original object. This incident lasted for several hours.
What’s more, on top of all these files and publications, which number in the thousands, we have files from intelligence agencies like the FBI showing heavy interest from some very high level people about extraterrestrial bodies and space craft.
For example, HERE (on pages 21/22) is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) document addressed to “certain scientists of distinction,” to “aeronautical and military authorities,” and to “a number of public officials” regarding a letter from a professor with “several university degrees” and a former “university department head.”
The letter offers details about extraterrestrial bodies and craft, stating that part of the disks carry crews, while others are under remote control; that these visitors are human-like but much larger in size, and that they come from an etheric planet that “students of esoteric matters will understand,” among other details.
Considering the above evidence, combined with the hundreds of statements from high ranking military and political personnel (and more) that are available, it’s difficult to believe there is nothing going on. And if anyone were in a position to know the true story, it would have to be Dwight Eisenhower, which is what makes his story and the supposed meeting he had with extraterrestrials so compelling — provided you keep an open mind when listening.

The Eisenhowers
When Laura Eisenhower was asked about her great grandfather and his supposed meeting with extraterrestrial beings, she had this to say:
Well I mean we have to understand that the Second World War wasn’t really won, we were dealing with things like project paperclip, we were dealing with, you know Admiral Byrd in 1947 going to Nazi bases in Antarctica and being defeated, so I mean, all these things were going on underneath… It’s like this whole other reality is going on that we don’t hear about. All of a sudden he’s (Dwight Eisenhower) voted into presidency and, you know, this facade of winning the war, um, you know, begins to just take us further and further away from, you know, the extraterrestrial concept, and what that really means and, you know, what is it really about, what is the interaction. So I would say that he was instrumental in warning us about the military industrial complex, and his integrity and I think the imprint that he left has allowed us to look back and open that door up and, you know, and ask these questions that weren’t asked back then. But my intuitive hit is that, and this is what I’ve gained from the work of Corey Goode, and other whistleblowers that have been connected to the secret space programs, is that the Nordics (extraterrestrial race) were connected to the Germans, and it wasn’t this whole, “Oh, you know, he made a deal with the wrong guys,” it was like, there needed to be so much discernment and clarity about the larger picture, that how can you possibly do that, in those times, I mean, this is what we’re trying to sort out now, is these timelines and the deeper history connected to secret societies, connected to, you know, these deeper ET agendas that have been around for thousands of years. So when it presents itself to a world government, or to these power structures, you know, there’s been pieces put into place specifically on purpose in order to create this outer facade which we read in our history books that have nothing to do with the true history of what is actually going on, and so, by the time this other meeting happened they considered it more of a surrender, because they couldn’t really do much, in 1953 is when the UFOs were flown over the white house, and that’s when they made negations with the Nazis, because they didn’t have a choice. . . . In February of 2010, Laura also posted a long document on the web describing her own contacts with beings from other worlds. Below is an excerpt:
It seemed clear to me that there were both false abductions (more holographic and communicated to the person through chips), and then there were the real ones—the ones I believe my great-grandfather President Eisenhower confronted, which has been a well-known cover-up.(source)
Apparently at this meeting Eisenhower was forced into an agreement with one race of extraterrestrials involving the exchange of ‘their’ technology for the ability to abduct some of us, examine us, and return us safely with no recollection of these events.
So where did the Eisenhower rumours stem from? Well on December 11th, 1984, a television producer by the name of Jamie Shandera received an envelope that had no return address, with two more envelopes inside and a 35 mm roll of film. The first paper within the envelope was a cover sheet labeled “Top Secret/Majic Eyes Only” and titled “Briefing Document: Operation Majestic 12 Prepared for President-Elect Dwight Eisenhower.” It was dated November 18, 1952. Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter (quoted earlier in the article speaking about UFOs) was listed as the briefing officer, along with President Truman, who established the group under executive order. Other names on the document included General Nathan Twinning, who stated in a declassified intelligence document that “the phenomenon is something real and not visionary or fictitious. The reported operating characteristics such as extreme rates of climb, maneuverability (particularly in roll), and motion which must be considered evasive when sighted or contacted by friendly air-craft and radar, lend belief to the possibility that some of the objects are controlled either manually, automatically, or remotely.” (1)
The MJ 12 documents go on to describe the known details of the extraterrestrial presence; although they cannot be confirmed as completely authentic, they are no doubt intriguing.
William Cooper, who was a close friend to Jamie Shandera, as well as a Navy officer who himself had experience with the UFO phenomenon, wrote a paper titled “The Secret Government: The Origin, Purpose, and Identity of MJ-12” where he made several revelations. He claimed there were at least 16 downed alien craft, 65 bodies, and one live alien retrieved between 1947 and 1952, and at least 10 more UFO crash retrievals during the Eisenhower years. He also claimed that this secret government was dominated by the CIA and the Air Force, but then went into even greater secrecy in 1952 with the establishment of the NSA, which didn’t become known to the general public until 30 years after its creation. When I think about the above program, I think of former Canadian Defence minister Paul Hellyer stating that pilots were ordered to “shoot first and ask questions after.” (source)
On a side note, the NSA (and other agencies as well) has also recently released some weird documents without any explanation, like this one that reads “Key To The Extraterrestrial Messages.” These documents reveal, at the very least, that these agencies are actively interested in this phenomenon and devoting significant resources to its study.
Another source sharing details of Eisenhower’s meetings with extraterrestrials is Dr. Michael Salla, a former American University professor who now writes extensively in the UFO field. He has also noted that he wrote to Ike’s son, John S.D. Eisenhower, and asked if there was actually an alien encounter with his father. The response, as Salla reported, was “no.” (source)

Who really knows what happened? All we can do is draw conclusions from the evidence at hand, since we don’t have a statement from Eisenhower himself.

One of the pupils, David Davies, still clearly remembers what the craft he saw looked like.
He told the Mirror: 'It was pearlescent silver-grey, approximately 40ft-long, torpedo, cigar-shaped, with an upper domed section that covered the central third of the vehicle which was topped with red pulsating light.'

The spookiest part of the story came when the headmaster decided he'd try to catch the children out.
He sat the classmates down, in exam conditions, and had them draw out the 'craft' they'd supposedly seen.
Remarkably, the drawings were near-identical.
For the 40th anniversary of the sighting UFO enthusiasts made a pilgrimage to Broad Haven.

But the sightings weren't just limited to the schoolchildren, and the area around Broad Haven soon became known for its UFO activity.
Many suspected that the military might have been involved, as there were a number of high-security bases nearby.
Author Neil Spring recently attended a village meeting where they discussed new revelations that there had, in fact, been a military base nearby which could have been launching an experimental airplane.
However members of that original 1977 class still maintain they saw a UFO.
