Arkansas Object

Pine Bluff – I was flying a drone and having difficulty getting it to land the more try to get it to land. It flew higher until the battery died and it crashed. When I reviewed the footage I was recording I noticed a black dot in the sky in front of the sun.  I also mounted camera upside down so you’ll see the footage upside down. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Arizona Light

 Lake Havasu City — Orb appeared in photo as I was taking photo of the saucer shaped cloud.  The orb was in one of four pictures taken within 5 seconds on September 12, 2016. Thanks to MUFON CMS

California Cylinder

 Fowler –, I don’t remember the exact date when I took this photo. It could’ve been either in 2013 or 2014 at 2 pm. I took the photo with my Nikon D50 of very large dark clouds over my home. I did not see the very large transparent object when taking a photo.

Only afterwards looking through my photos that I saw it. I did not hear any sound. I have witnessed more unexplained objects in Fowler than anywhere else. I noticed on the ends of this object are pale green and pink. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Anaheim — I was laying in my yard with my dog on Friday, April 20, 2017 about 3:30 pm and saw a thin contrail; I sensed its aircraft due to my training in the Army as an anti-aircraft gunner. I began to film a unique contrail I had seen once before many years ago. I had read in Popular Mechanics about a contrail left by an unknown aircraft, but most likely a new spy plane. They call the contrails “Donuts on a rope” due to a new propulsion system.

I believe alien technology is used for this plane. It may even fly to space; I was told it sure was high in the air when I saw this. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Delaware Lights

On April 4, 2017, outside I saw blinking drones that changed from three lights to multiple lights.

It looked like the lights were reflected by multiple mirrors (but you can see through it somehow), like gravitational lensing.

It just moved for one minute and then the lights turned off and it was gone. Nothing moved much as it was like in the old Predator movie.

I was Googling a drone show around this place, but nothing.

Florida Cube

Hialeah — Large cube shaped ufo, much larger than a 777 by size comparison. It was hovering at first and fluctuating in various colors. I took footage of it in zoom on February 19, 2017. I zoomed in it appeared to be structured and cube shaped. Minutes later it started to move and I began recording again, it sped off into the horizon above the clouds and at the end of the footage I showed how it was no longer in its original position. When I took a screenshot of a frame from the second video which was zoomed in and enlarged it, it appeared to be similar to a building or skyscraper with several windows. Illinois Objects

Naperville — I was sitting in my car about to go into the office I work at in a suburb of Chicago on April 24, 2017.

When I noticed a bright reflection coming from an object in the sky, I noticed it moving oddly as if it was tumbling end to end. It didn’t seem to be falling, but flying on a relaxed heading.

Didn’t seem to be moving quickly, but it’s hard to tell as I couldn’t determine its size or proximity. I thought it was odd so I quickly pulled out my iPhone 7 and took a photo burst. It then moved out of view behind some foliage. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Chicago — I was working my shift at O’Hare Airport and was recording a plane because it had my name across it on April 17, 2017. Then I noticed something flying above the plane in a hovering manner, so I zoomed in on the flying object. It looked like a dark orb but the way it was flying was abnormal for anything in the vicinity of the airport. I worked there for three years and have taken many videos and pictures of planes and the sky and never have seen anything like it. I would have kept recording but I had to assist a passenger. I was recording through a window but the window was clear so it is not a window smear. It is flying in the sky doing its own thing. I’ve asked allot of pilots for their opinion and they said it looks unexplainable. When I went back to record more it was gone. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Hawaii Flying Object

Kauai—I was filming the valley using my phone.

I observed an object flying from waterfall through line of sight.

I did not notice anything until I viewed video.

New York Light

Hudson River — I was passing by to see the Statue of Liberty.
2. Later on looking at the picture I noticed a bright light with object on top.
3. Thought it could definitely be a UFO.
4. I can’t describe the object and how it behaved because I notice on the picture.
5. I felt like this is a good opportunity to see I actually snapped a real UFO.
6. I never had sight of it, and didn’t notice until reviewing my pictures.

Massachusetts Disc

Boston — While driving north on Route 93 heading towards Boston just beyond the LNG gas tanks in Dorchester, I looked up at one of the skyscrapers. I noticed a large square/rectangular object hovering off to the left of it.
It was 9:30 am, and traffic was moving slowly over Route 93. I had witnessed something similar in 2013, in the same general area.  I got a picture of it this time. It appeared to be pewter colored and dull. It seemed to hover for a bit then slowly starts to move towards the east. I eventually lost sight of it when I entered the tip O’Neal tunnel. New Jersey Oval Shape

Lakehurst Naval Base — I was coming home from work on a December night in 2014. At the end of this one long hilly road, you come to a four way stop. Diagonally, there is a large empty field. And beyond that is the base. Once I got to the stop sign there was another car in front of me and we simultaneously saw something in the sky and hit the brakes immediately in the middle of the road. There were 12 or more lights lined up in an oval shape larger than a football field. It could have been much bigger if it was further way. It was a similar to the Phoenix lights but the oval shape was more pronounced. The ring or halo of lights were almost tilted on and angle. The lights lit up in a row. Slowly around the oval and sped up quicker and quicker until it vanished completely without a trace. The reason why I decided to write about this now is because I was driving past that field the other day and realized you can see stars everywhere in the sky, except for where those lights were above the base. North Carolina Orbs

Asheville — In early February I watched the documentary “Man cursed with Seeing UFOs” starring Christo Roppolo. I could not get it out of my mind how in the movie he used prime number signaling to summon craft and intelligent entities. I thought this was so farfetched yet instinctively knew that there was in fact something to it. Two nights later on February 24, 2017 at around 9:45 pm something or some feeling made me pop up off the couch, grab my phone and head outside to try and signal some UFOs

I used my bright screen to signal two times and two UFO orbs started signaling back to me or so it seemed. What I would describe as two bilateral, white light emitting orb shaped UFOs signaling light sequences and alternating between being stationary and moving across the sky at different speeds and in different random directions. Eventually after filming them for almost 5 minutes and my phone being completely drained, they flew off in separate directions. What I witnessed very much resembled the light emitting UFOs which I have seen others post on Youtube.

The two orbs of light that I saw looked almost like eyeballs looking at me and they communicated with me. I felt this message was sent to me, “We are here and have been for a long time. Everything matters. Do not fear us. Keep learning, have patience, teach others, practice unconditional love.” I have found these same light emitting orbs documented hundreds of times with video on Youtube. I see clearly that our society is moving forward as fast as possible regarding what is revealed to us about extraterrestrial life. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Texas Cylinder

Denton — I have witnessed and reported similar lights before. A dull light shaped sort of like a cigar first caught my attention on April 24, 2017. I wasn’t sure if I was looking at a plane leaving a trail, so I began to photograph it, and after uploading the photos to my computer I could see that there were three lights at first, and they eventually disappeared. It was getting dark, and I didn’t have a tripod, so many of the photos were out of focus. I did manage to get a few decent photos. Power lines were present and I feel that the lights were much further than the power lines, but I can’t be positive about that. A short time later, two other lights appeared. I took video of the two lights and one light was traveling slowly and appeared to go through a power line, but that could have been because I was in full zoom and the camera was shaky and it may have made the light appear to do so. I had my camera set to photograph in RAW which I hoped would have captured good detail, but the lights seemed faraway and the photos were not of the greatest quality. Even still, I believe that you can see that it is not an airplane, and in my opinion the lights didn’t seem close to the power lines, but again I can’t be sure. I contradict myself in saying that in viewing the video, the lights appear to be right at the power lines, but if that is the case the lights are a big as the power line are thick. I have converted the RAW files to jpeg.

I already reported this. I wanted to add the photos plus I reported after midnight on my report so I got the date wrong.

Worldwide UFO Sightings

Australia

 Sydney — Just taken these sunset photos while on a ferry home on April 29, 2017. The strange thing is a white object in the sky above the bridge. On my last photo it is no longer there. The moon is off to the top right.

Canada Objects

 Grimsby — Object observed in the southeast at an elevation close to 10k-20k feet above ground. Object appeared to be hovering with egg shaped object. I observed the object from my ground floor and then moved upstairs to take photographs. I only took one picture. When I looked at it I phoned Police to ask if they had any objects reported in the area. The object was hovering below the clouds and was flying on jet airways from Hamilton International. Columbia Orb

Bogata — I was with my wife on the terrace of a building during a nice sunset on March 24, 2017, and so I decided to take a picture with my iPhone 6. When I was ready to take the picture I saw a commercial jet (type Airbus 330 or 340) just taking off from El Dorado airport. Since I love planes I decided to take a sequence hoping to get a nice one of the aircraft. The view was not very clear because of the glare from the sunset and the presence of a huge grey cloud, but between pictures I noticed a bright light moving close to the airplane. I zoomed with my phone and did three more shots before seeing the object disappear towards the sunset and behind the clouds. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Philippines Cloud

Pagadian City, Zamboanga — This UFO was recorded by Anne Elle Salikala of Facebook, who personally witnesses the glowing iridescent UFO hovering over a cloud near her home. The colors are scientifically impossible for them to occur in clouds; however for a cloaked UFO it’s very possible. As a matter of fact, I once saw a tiny baseball size UFO just two meters from me with the exact same colors, so I know firsthand. The easiest and most relaxing way a UFO can come close to a human community is by making itself appear as a cloud. This is a magnificent alien craft we are looking at here. Scott C. UFO Seen from Passenger Jet

This long dark object was seen poking through a cloud 4,000 feet up in the air in April 2017. It may be a beam or transporter that is sending down supplies into an underwater base and the UFO may be hidden in the clouds above it. These lucky passengers got to see it, even if it’s only for a few seconds. It’s enough to change how you see the world.  Not only are we not alone on Earth, we have never been alone on this planet. Aliens have lived here in secluded areas below the surface for over 10,000 years. Scott C. Waring

If you see some strange things flying in the air while traveling in an airplane, “what questions will arise in your mind? A similar incident has happened recently, in fact, whenever a person travels in air, he sees the beautiful scenes of the sky window, but have you ever thought that, if you were in Hawaii If you see something different from the outside of the ship’s window, how would you feel? In an airplane from Spain to England, a passenger got to see something similar, which he was able to see. In fact, this passenger had seen a pillar blown between the clouds. Due to which she got a little nervous, but only after she was caught, she caught that scene in her camera soon. Many people say that, in fact, this is the warning light from the oil terminal, so some people say that it can be a scratched in the seat window. This passenger says that on seeing from four thousand feet, this hammer looked like a big pillar of iron.

UK/England Sphere

 Newton Abbot, Devon — I was sky watching when I spotted a passenger plane approaching on ‎September 21, ‎2014.. As it flew past I noticed a flying saucer fly up to the back of the passenger plane and make physical contact with the tail section. It then gave the plane a nudge before flying off at an incredible rate of speed at 1:26 PM GMT. The pilot must have felt the nudge and probably thought it was air turbulence. I could not believe what I had just witnessed through the viewfinder of my Sony camera. Luckily I had managed to take two photographs. In the first photograph you can clearly see the flying saucer near the tail section of the plane and in the second photograph you can clearly see that the flying saucer is gone. It definitely looks like a classic flying saucer. I have seen this UFOs get pretty close to commercial aircraft before but never hit an aircraft until I had witnessed this event. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Newton Abbot — It was the early hours of the morning 1:20 AM, on June 26, 2016. I looked out the kitchen window and saw a bright object hanging above a nearby housing estate. I ran and got my Nikon P900 Camera and open the window and looking through the viewfinder I zoomed in and I could see the object clearly. The object was definitely not any type of known aircraft. The large object was glowing bright orange and had a white pulsing light on the top left side. The object hung there silently over the housing. After a while a tube began to extend from the middle of the object and when it was fully extended it glowed with a yellowish tinge. While making my observations I had been taking photographs and managed to capture the strange unknown object. I then felt tired and closed the kitchen window and put the camera on the side and went to bed. In the morning I was confused to why I had gone bed. Why didn’t I take more photographs why did I go to bed? The photograph was taken ‎26 ‎June ‎2016, ‏‎1:27 AM GMT at Newton Abbot Devon England. Check out the photograph below.

Devon — I have had a lot of sightings at the Teign Estuary lately so I went back to sky watch there again on April 10, 2017.

. Then after hours of sky watching all of a sudden two orange and yellow orbs emerged from the clouds that were right above me.

I quickly took a photograph and managed to capture the two amazing orbs just before they went back into the clouds. I had previously photographed these orange and yellow orbs on April 2nd at 20:39 PM at Newton Abbot. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Exmouth — I spotted a Cigar shaped UFO over Dawlish Warren on April 11, 2017. The cigar shaped UFO was hovering quite low over the beach. I quickly took a Photograph of the cigar shaped UFO before it ascended up into the sky and started to move away.

When the cigar shaped UFO was higher in the sky I took another photograph. The cigar shaped UFO then appeared to bend and flew off at an incredible speed. There were a lot of people about but none of them seemed to see this object. It was very strange. The Photographs were taken on the 11th of ‎April ‎2015, 3:40 PM GMT at Exmouth Devon England.

WHERE SHOULD WE LOOK FOR ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM?

The search for life in the Universe takes many paths. There’s SETI, or the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, which is searching for signals from a distant ancient civilization. There’s the exploration of our own Solar System, on Mars, or underneath the subsurface oceans of Europa and Enceladus, to see if life can be anywhere there’s liquid water and a source of energy. And upcoming space telescopes like James Webb will attempt to directly image the atmospheres of distant extrasolar planets, to see if they contain the distinct chemical signatures of life.

But according to Jason Wright, an astronomer at the Center for Exoplanets and Habitable Worlds at Penn State University, we could consider searching for evidence of ancient civilizations right here on Earth, or across the Solar System. Don’t get excited, though, so far “there is zero evidence for prior indigenous species in the Solar System.”

In a paper, recently submitted to the arXiv electronic preprint archive entitled Prior Indigenous Technological Species, Dr. Wright describes how we might go about searching for the technological artifacts left behind by ancient civilizations that have evolved in the Solar System. Perhaps on an ancient, cooler Venus, or on Mars in a time when it was wetter and had a thicker atmosphere. Those civilizations could have arisen millions or even billions of years ago, destroyed themselves or left the Solar System, and only ancient traces of their culture and technology would still be around.

If a civilization had reached a high level of technology, where did it go? Wright suggests a variety of catastrophes, like a swarm of comets, self destruction, or even a nearby supernova explosion that irradiated the whole Solar System with high energy gamma rays. Even without a specific event, a civilization might have simply just died out, or became permanently non-technological. Of course, these possibilities face our own human civilization. It’s hard to read the paper and not consider the fate of humanity. Will future aliens search for scraps to learn about us?

Where should we look? According to Wright, Earth is the obvious, most habitable place in the Solar System, and it’ll be the easiest to search. Humans have dramatically changed the landscape of Earth. Our open pit mines, for example, are a clear indication that an intelligent species dug out a specific mineral from the ground. These might be obvious for millions of years, but over the course of billions of years, plate tectonics will have recycled those regions, absorbing the evidence back into the ground. Radioactive isotopes from ancient nuclear reactors, or fossils of ancient beings will have about the same lifespan. Beyond a few hundred million years, the Earth itself would have completely obscured any evidence of a technological civilization.

Venus is inhospitable today, but it might not have always been the case. Billions of years in the past, when the Sun was cooler, it might have had a thinner atmosphere and milder temperatures. It’s worth searching. That said, it appears that Venus has gone through major geological resurfacing events, where the entire planet’s surface turned inside out. Venus could easily hide its secrets.

Scientists are accumulating more and more evidence that Mars was warmer and wetter in the past, with eras when liquid water could exist on the surface for long periods of time. And unlike Earth and Venus, it doesn’t have active plate tectonics. Landscapes on the surface have remained there for billions of years. Well, okay, they’ve been pounded by meteorites, but they’re still there.

What should we be looking for? One idea is technological structures: ancient mining facilities, factories, even cities. On Mars, these structures could get covered by dust or worn down by erosion, so it’s entirely possible our space-based observations could have missed them. Even structures on asteroids and the Moon get eroded by micrometeorites wearing them down. Over the course of millions years, an ancient factory would look very similar to a small rocky outcrop. The real evidence could be hidden underground, safely protected from the surface erosion. We need more rovers and orbiters with ground penetrating radar to see below the surface.

There could be free-floating objects in the Solar System, like ancient space stations. Of course, if they’ve been abandoned long ago, they wouldn’t be functional, and that same micrometeorite erosion would have worn them down over the vast timescales. Furthermore, their orbits might not be stable, and could eventually crash into another world, or get kicked out of the Solar System entirely. Space stations out in the Kuiper Belt would be subject to less erosion, and better preserved over vast timescales. We need better telescopes and deeper surveys to answer this question.

The bottom line is that Dr. Wright doesn’t conclude there’s any evidence for ancient civilizations in the Solar System so far. But the reality is that we’ve only just begun to look. NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which contains the most powerful telescope to ever travel away from the Earth has only mapped a few percent of the Martian surface at its highest resolution. Astronomers have only mapped a tiny fraction of the asteroids and comets zipping around the Solar System. And we’ve only had single glimpses at places in the outer Solar System, like Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

There’s so much more searching that needs to be done. But while we’re at it, we should keep an eye out for ancient civilizations. If we did find an old factory, space station, or even the dumping ground of a precursor species, it would be a boon to our knowledge.

And might just give us a warning; advanced knowledge of what the future holds for our own civilization.

Did Intelligent Space Aliens Once Live in Our Solar System?

A respected scientist says that if the existence of a home-grown intelligent alien species has never been established, it's never been ruled out either.

Was our solar system once home to an advanced civilization other than our own — perhaps one that predated humanity by hundreds of millions of years before being wiped out by an asteroid impact or some other cataclysm?

There's no evidence for such a pre-human indigenous technological species, though people have been speculating about one since ancient times. But a respected space scientist points out in a provocative new paper that if the existence of home-grown intelligent space aliens has never been established, it's never been ruled out either.

And if a race of smart and perhaps spacefaring aliens did make their home in our solar system, traces of their lost civilization might still be out there somewhere in the system just waiting for us to find them.

At least that's what the scientist, Penn State astrophysicist Dr. Jason T. Wright, argues in the paper, "Prior Indigenous Technological Species." The paper was posted on the online research archive ArXiv on April 24, 2017.

What sorts of traces does Wright have in mind? He's not saying we might dig up aliens' fossilized bones. Rather, he's talking about "technosignatures." The term encompasses a range of possible artifacts, including archaeological ruins and old mining operations as well as synthetic chemicals or nuclear isotopes that could have been created only by technological processes.

Wright argues that if a prior indigenous technological species did exist in our solar system, it might have arisen on Earth or a "pre-greenhouse" Venus, or on Mars when it still had flowing water.

 

NASA Discovers Four New Exoplanets That Could Possibly Sustain Life 

But we're unlikely to find any artifacts from this species on Earth, he says, because surface erosion and the shifting tectonic plates on our planet would probably have erased them long ago (or changed them so dramatically that we might not recognize them as products of technology).

Similarly, any artifacts left on Venus would probably have been destroyed long ago by the planet's harsh atmosphere or the violent "resurfacing" the planet underwent hundreds of millions of years ago.

If any technosignatures were left on Mars, however, Wright believes they might still exist. But given the red planet's thick dust, he writes that "it is unlikely that artifacts might be obvious from space imagery, or even from the sort of shallow probing performed by the various Martian rovers."

In other words, just because the orbiters and rovers we've sent to Mars haven't turned up any technosignatures doesn't mean they're not there. They might simply be lying deep under the surface.

Other places to look for technosignatures include our moon (again, probably under the surface) and the rocky moons and asteroids of the outer solar system. And as Wright told NBC News MACH in an email, there might even be "large structures free-floating in space" — some sort of space stations left over from this hypothetical civilization.

What do other experts make of Wright's ideas?

Dr. Paul Horowitz, a research professor of physics and electrical engineering at Harvard University and a noted expert on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI), praised the paper as "very nice" but cast doubt on the notion that our solar system might have been home to the kind of species Wright discusses.

"If I had to guess, I'd say it's highly unlikely, but not impossible, that an ancient civilization existed — probably even more unlikely we'll ever find evidence," Horowitz told MACH in an email.

In a separate email to MACH, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson called Wright's ideas "intriguing," but added with a measure of understatement that efforts to confirm the existence of another home-grown technological species would "require substantial upticks in our space exploration budgets."

Wright himself isn't actually calling for a massive new effort to look for evidence of the hypothetical species. But he does hope his paper has an impact on the way scientists think about the possibility of ancient intelligent life in our neck of the cosmic woods.

"I'd like people who think about ancient Earth — archaeologists and paleontologists — to consider how we can rule out a prior indigenous technological species," he said. "Before what [geologic] time are we sure that there was no complex life, no technology, on the surface of the Earth? The tapes also reveal that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance court (FISA), Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, 156 other judges, members of Congress, and Donald J. Trump were targeted by the HAMMER.

 

One of the audio tapes made public by Federal Judge G. Murray Snow revealed that Brennan and Clapper particularly targeted and wiretapped Donald Trump a “zillion times.”

NA ITALIË IS BEROEMDE GRONINGSE UFO NU BOVEN INDIA GEZIEN...

Het begint er langzamerhand op te lijken dat een bijzonder soort UFO onze planeet bezoekt. 

Nadat deze UFO voor het eerst in Groningen werd waargenomen, volgen er nu meer plaatsen, waaronder Italië en India. 

Het begon in de zomer van 2015 toen deze UFO voor het eerst werd waargenomen in Groningen waarvan het beeld vervolgens de wereld rondging. 

Daarna werd dezelfde UFO onlangs gezien in Italië en nu komt er bij Mufon een melding binnen van een groepje kampeerders die een bijzondere foto hebben gemaakt. 

Ze geven er geen details bij, behalve dat de foto is gemaakt in het Dang District in Gujarat, India. 

De waarneming staat bij Mufon geregistreerd onder nummer 83441. Wat we niet weten, is of deze waarneming ook met het blote oog te zien was, waardoor het in theorie een soort lensflare zou kunnen zijn. 

Het is een bijzondere foto:

Rechts bovenin de foto zie je iets wat in eerste instantie een vallende ster lijkt, maar niets is minder waar. 

Want, wanneer het beeld iets wordt uitvergroot, komt er een bekende vorm tevoorschijn.

Een vorm die we eerder tegenkwamen in Groningen en Italië. 

Ter vergelijking, hier een deel uit een eerder artikel en dan zie je dat we hier duidelijk te maken hebben met hetzelfde soort object. 

Een object dat voor zover ons bekend voor Groningen niet eerder op onze aarde is waargenomen. Mocht er iemand zijn die denkt dat dit niet zo is en dat er eerder dit soort waarnemingen zijn geweest, dan horen we dat graag. 

UFO liefhebbers zullen zich het voorval van enkele jaren geleden nog wel kunnen herinneren, maar voor hen die het niet meer weten, hierbij, uit een eerder artikel, wat er in Groningen gebeurde:

Perton is een Groninger die nogal nuchter blijft onder dit soort dingen en denkt dat de vreemde foto te maken heeft met lichtval of iets dergelijks, wat best zou kunnen.

Het gaat om deze foto die wij al eerder publiceerden:

Echter, ook internationaal is deze foto niet onopgemerkt gebleven en zijn er mensen die zich afvragen of we hier de eerste echte afbeelding hebben van een portaal naar een andere dimensie. 

Het was een stormachtige dag in ons land en op het moment dat Perton de foto nam, spreekt hij over een flits: 

Opeens flitste er iets. Ik dacht eerst mijn toestel, maar de flitskap stond niet omhoog. Ook zat er geen druppel op mijn lens. Ik besloot dat het een bliksem moest zijn geweest. Maar thuis zie ik wat vreemds op een van de foto’s die ik aan het eind van het bomenlaantje maakte. 

We zijn nu twee jaar later en iemand maakte op 3 april 2017 een vergelijkbare foto, maar nu in het noorden van Italië. 

De getuige die de opname maakte, heeft het voorval gemeld bij Mufon en zegt dat een vriend op dezelfde plek ook een waarneming had in 2008. 

Hoe dan ook, dit is net zoals in Groningen, een bijzondere opname die weinig of geen overeenkomsten vertoond met een natuurlijk fenomeen.

Maar, net zoals het KNMI een verklaring heeft voor vliegtuigstrepen, zo hadden ze dat ook voor het verschijnsel in Groningen. 

Perton is geen sterrenkundige, dus heeft hij voor de zekerheid Theo Jurriëns (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) ook nog ingeschakeld. 'Hij belde met het KNMI en die zei dat het een drone was. Maar dat vind ik vreemd. Want wie laat nou zo'n kostbare drone tegen onweer aanvliegen?' 

En ongetwijfeld zal het object uit Italië worden geclassificeerd als een nieuw soort drone wolk door onze weerexperts.

ESA’S JUICE SPACECRAFT COULD DETECT WATER PLUMES ERUPTING ON EUROPA

ESA’s JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE) mission to the Jovian system could easily confirm the presence of water on Europa, a new study finds. According to the research, it is feasible to detect water molecules (H₂O) and water ions (H₂O+) from the moon’s plumes during a flyby mission.

The suspected water vapor plumes erupting on Jupiter’s moon Europa are still baffling scientists in the search for habitable environments in our solar system.

It is assumed that Europa harbors a vast subsurface liquid ocean and these plumes could be an indicator of water erupting from the moon’s interior. Hence, they offer a great opportunity to gather samples originating from under the thick layer of ice, where many mysteries of extraterrestrial life may await to be unraveled.

These composite images show a suspected plume of material erupting two years apart from the same location on Jupiter’s icy moon Europa. The images bolster evidence that the plumes are a real phenomenon, flaring up intermittently in the same region on the satellite.

Recent observations of Europa with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) show a plume rising about 62 miles (100 kilometers) above the surface. Researchers estimate these plumes could rise even 125 miles (200 kilometers) before raining material back down onto the icy surface.

According to a new study conducted by a team of European scientists, these plumes should be thoroughly investigated by a future flyby mission like JUICE in order to confirm the presence of water.

In a recent paper, the researchers studied the feasibility of in-situ measurements of Europa’s plumes, by modeling the trajectories of neutral and ionized plume particles and the respective measurements by neutral and ion mass spectrometers.

“Instead of using ‘photons’ as Hubble does, we will use in-situ particle data,” Yoshifumi Futaana, Co-Investigator of the JUICE/PEP instrument at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics told Astrowatch.net. “This means that we will validate the presence of water independently using the in-situ data. JUICE is the mission that can do this as it will be equipped with the Particle Environment Package (PEP) instrument suitable for this measurement.”

PEP is a plasma package with six sensors to characterize the plasma environment. It will measure density and fluxes of positive and negative ions, exospheric neutral gas, thermal plasma, and energetic neutral atoms.

The package will include the Jovian plasma Dynamics and Composition (JDC) sensor, measuring water ions, and the Neutral gas and Ions Mass spectrometer (NIM) sensor, measuring water molecules.

Futaana and his colleagues are convinced that the particles of the low mass flux plumes (1 kilogram per second) can be detected by PEP with large margins. Furthermore, the results of their study suggest the plume signal is recognizable as a temporal signal enhancement of one order of magnitude in the H₂O count rate during six minutes. This means the detection of water plumes during a flyby is indeed feasible.

“Our paper shows that the plumes can be detected from the JUICE flybys with particle instruments that detect [water] particles in the vicinity of the spacecraft,” Hans Huybrighs of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany, one of the co-authors of the paper, told SpaceFlight Insider. “This is the case even if the plume is significantly smaller than what has been observed. With this, we mean that the plumes in our work only release one kilogram of water per second, while the very first plume observation indicated 7,000 kilograms of water is released per second.”

The authors of the study underline that even in the case of relatively very small water plumes, the water atoms dissociating from the molecules, as well as their ions, make significant signals. So far, Hubble observations of the plumes detected only atomic oxygen. Given the amount of oxygen and other considerations it was concluded these oxygen atoms must arise from dissociated water molecules.

“This would also explain the observed spatial features, which were interpreted as a plume,” Peter Wurz of the University of Bern in Switzerland told Astrowatch.net. “Even though it is all very plausible, and is not contested in the scientific community, it is an interpretation. PEP on JUICE will be able to confirm this interpretation and provide a lot of additional data to understand the nature of the plume, its composition, and its relation to the subsurface of Europa’s ice shell, which is mostly water ice.”

The researchers have also shown the geometry of the plume source does not influence the density distributions, therefore it will not affect their detectability when using PEP. They said that it makes no difference whether it is a point source or a several-hundred-mile-long crack.

All in all, JUICE, equipped with the PEP instrument, has the potential to take a peek at Europa’s subsurface ocean without drilling into the moon’s icy shell. This ocean could hold many clues to mysteries of life beyond Earth.

“What is so interesting about this ocean is that it has probably been there for a long time,” Huybrighs said, “and that there could be sources of energy for life in it, like geothermal vents on the bottom of the ocean, making Europa’s ocean a very interesting environment that is possibly habitable for some form of life.”

The JUICE mission is planned to be launched in 2022. The spacecraft will perform two flybys of Europa in early 2031. During these flybys, JUICE is expected to approach Europa up to a height of about 250 miles (400 kilometers).

The object first appeared to be about 700 ft high, but as the object had moved into the background of my house it appeared to be gaining altitude and I snapped three photos as it passed beyond the peak of the roof over my bedroom, moving in a South or South East direction towards Manila. The object made no sound at all, and it had no visable lights of any kind, it seemed to be moving about the same speed as a small plane at first and was completely out of sight in about 3 minutes or less, apparently gaining speed. When I first looked at the pics, I though I missed it, as it looked like a speck of dust or dirt, I then downloaded them to my desktop computer and cropped the photos, and then I could see better detail. I was a bit stunned when saw it, as I had never seen any craft like this before, and it clearly had a some type of leg structure for landing. Three pics were taken, and numbered in the order taken, the best being the first pic.

Aliens may have existed on Earth. Here's why they left

Do aliens exist? Are humans the only sentient species in the universe? Is there extra-terrestrial life? Are we alone?

It's one of humanity's most all-consuming questions, fascinating scientists, governments and pop culture alike.

But now, one US space scientist is claiming that advanced life forms may be a reality - but that they disappeared long ago.

Professor Jason Wright, an astronomy and astrophysics professor at Pennsylvania State University, published a paper in arXiv entitled 'Prior Indigenous Technological Species'.

He claims that ancient 'technological species' may have lived on Earth billions of years before the human race.

Well, either Earth, or a "pre-greenhouse Venus," or "a wet Mars". He's not 100 per cent sure.

However, Wright claims:

Given that it is known to host complex life, the most obvious origin for a prior species of any sort is Earth.

He pulls no punches when he explains that:

Present-day Venus would seem to be a terrible candidate for a technological species, with a surface temperature over 700K, although when it comes to alien life we should keep an open mind about even this.

Wright believes that the ancient species has disappeared, but that in the past we could have found found traces of them underground, called "technosignatures".

However, he claims that most of the physical evidence would now be lost.

On Venus, for example, the global greenhouse arrival may have resulted in a resurfacing of the planet, while on Earth the movement of tectonic plates and subsequent erosion could have erased any lingering traces.

Nevertheless, he writes, it might still be possible to recognise these technosignatures even if the physical evidence is all but destroyed.

He explains:

Structures buried beneath surfaces might survive and be discoverable as long as they do not suffer a collision so severe that their artificial nature is obliterated.

Merely destroying them would render them nonfunctional, but they might still be recognisably technological.

We might conjecture that settlements or bases on these objects would have been built beneath the surface for a variety of reasons, and so still be discoverable today.

Wright proposes that we might find traces on more undisturbed surfaces such as the Moon and Mars.

Of course, the idea that humans are not the only sentient species is nothing new.

Indeed, he writes, "the idea of indigenous Martian civilisations pervades science fiction to the point of cliche".

However, the proposal that the alien species is already extinct is comparatively unexplored in the scientific field.

But why does Wright think they disappeared?

Wright says that "the most obvious answer" is a cataclysm, "whether a natural event such as an extinction-level asteroid impact, or self-inflicted, such as a global climate catastrophe".

However, in the case of a species which had settled in the Solar System, Wright explains:

...Such an event would only permanently extinguish the species if there were many cataclysms across the Solar System closely spaced in time (a swarm of comets, or interplanetary warfare perhaps), or if the settlements were not completely self-sufficient.

Alternatively, an unexpected nearby gamma ray burst or supernova might produce a Solar-System-wide cataclysm.

Even without a cataclysm, the species may have simply died out, or become permanently non-technological at some point, or [...] abandoned the Solar System permanently for some reason.

Life could jump between TRAPPIST-1's Earth-like planets in decades

Back in February, NASA announced the discovery of seven Earth-sized exoplanets orbiting the nearby red dwarf star, TRAPPIST-1. With three of those planets orbiting within the star's Habitable Zone (HZ), the system is one of our best bets for finding life beyond Earth, and new research from the University of Chicago suggests that if it is there, life could jump between the tightly-packed planets in a matter of decades.

At a distance of 40 light-years away, the TRAPPIST-1 system's planets aren't our closest possible homes-away-from-home – that honor goes to Proxima b, a galactic stone's throw away at just four light-years. But what makes TRAPPIST-1 such an attractive prospect for extraterrestrial life is the fact that all seven planets are in extremely close proximity to each other, so if life arises on one planet, it could spread to the others relatively quickly.

"Frequent material exchange between adjacent planets in the tightly packed TRAPPIST-1 system appears likely," says Sebastiaan Krijt, lead author of the study. "If any of those materials contained life, it's possible they could inoculate another planet with life."

While Earth is the only planet we know for sure is home to life, it didn't necessarily start here. The seeds of life, in the form of microscopic organisms, may have been brought to our planet by asteroids or comets – a hypothesis known as panspermia. On the other hand there's lithopanspermia, the idea that chunks of rock carrying tiny organisms could be thrown into space by these cosmic collisions, spreading that life to other planets.

But for this to work, a few factors need to be considered. The pieces of rock ejected into space would need to be large enough to protect the organisms from cosmic radiation, and even then, the journey to their new home would need to be relatively short, to keep the space travellers alive. And the speed at which the rocks are flung into space also needs to be just right: too fast and the lifeforms wouldn't survive the trip, too slow and the rocks would fall back to the planet's surface.

Running a series of simulations on these events, the researchers set out to determine how likely the scenario could be in the TRAPPIST system. The team found that rocks large enough to protect any hitchhiking organisms during space travel and re-entry would also tend to leave their home planet at a speed just above the minimum required to break free. Given how close together the system's planets are, the researchers concluded that this process could take place pretty quickly, seeding life from one world to another in as little as 10 years.

"Given that tightly packed planetary systems are being detected more frequently, this research will make us rethink what we expect to find in terms of habitable planets and the transfer of life — not only in the TRAPPIST-1 system, but elsewhere," says Fred Ciesla, co-author of the study. "We should be thinking in terms of systems of planets as a whole, and how they interact, rather than in terms of individual planets."

The research was published in Astrophysical Journal Letters.
