Man’s Best UFO Witness?

We all know that dogs are man’s best friends, but could they also be our best UFO witnesses? With their vastly superior sense of hearing, smell, and ability to see in low light, perhaps every field investigator and researcher should consider getting a canine companion!

Over the years of collecting accounts of UFO activity from the tri-state region of the Hudson Valley of New York, northern New Jersey, and western Connecticut, I have heard numerous eyewitness accounts of how dogs alerted their owners or neighbors to a UFO. Generally, the dogs’ reactions are those of fear, accompanied by barking or howling. Such cases are frequent enough that NICAP has a separate classification (Category 4) for “Animal Effect Cases,” and MUFON had a Special Publication in 2005 entitled “Animal Reactions to UFOs.”

One of my favorite NICAP case involves “Thunder,” the 175-pound Great Dane who “went crazy” barking by the sliding doors toward the woods of his Sandy Hook, CT home at 8:30 pm on the night of March 31, 1983. After several minutes of incessant barking, his owner went to see what was causing Thunder so much distress. There was a massive V-shaped craft which remained hovering in the sky for 20 minutes. Thunder “appeared fearful and barked” the entire time, and the next day he refused to go outside. Anything that would provoke such fright in a 175-pound dog would certainly be enough to make me think twice about going outside!

I recently interviewed a woman from Cresskill, New Jersey who had a German Shepherd named Hans, who had a similar reaction back in 1968. Hans was just two years old; strong, and very protective of his owner. While walking Hans near a schoolyard, the woman and her friend spotted a dumbbell-shaped craft hovering silently over the school field. They were mesmerized by the sight, but their “trance was broken” by Hans, who was “cowering, trying to dig a hole in the dirt on the side of Rose Street (which was unpaved at that time) and whimpering.” This fearful reaction by the usually fearless dog caused them all to run for home.

Another dramatic case involved a golden retriever in Putnam Valley, NY in the fall of 1984. The witness, “Joe,” told me that one night his dog began to whine, so Joe assumed he wanted to go out. However, when he opened the back door, the dog began to tremble and whine even more. Joe finally got the dog outside, where he promptly curled up into a tight ball and whined in terror. It was then that Joe noticed the entire sky above him was blacked out.

A massive black triangle, “the size of two football fields,” was hovering no more than 250 feet above him. Yelling for his wife, she came out and was also stunned and frightened by what she saw. The craft “just sat there” over them for at least five minutes. A week later, strange figures began appearing by Joe’s bed at night, he developed uncontrollable nose bleeds, and this activity continued until the following summer when he finally decided to move out of his house. Perhaps Joe should have paid more attention to his dog!

Another case I just covered in my new book “More Hudson Valley UFOs” involved four witnesses on a hot, summer night in 1988. The four friends were by Lake DeForest in Congers, NY—a location I have written about on several occasions, and where I had my own intense experience. The dogs in the neighborhood “began howling crazily” and then an odd “snake-like” UFO appeared in the sky with alternating red and green lights composing the “body,” with a bright, white beacon at the “head.”

Throughout the sighting, the “Dogs were barking and howling and making a total racket,” one witness told me. Another witness described the incredible sounds as “The dogs of Rockland (County) going out of their skulls.” As dogs are capable of hearing at distances four times greater than humans, and can hear at much higher frequencies, can we conclude that these craft—which are often silent to us—are emitting sounds that are alerting our dogs to their presence long before they come into our view? Should investigators consider utilizing sound detectors in the roughly 20,000 to 60,000Hz range to replicate the superior capabilities that dogs have over us?

There were other cases of dog reactions with which I have dealt that may bear this sound theory out. During a cold winter’s night in 1985 in the town of Wallkill, NY, a man told me his dog “was barking frantically outside.” He tried several times to quiet the dog, to no avail. Then a 40-foot diameter sphere of multi-colored lights appeared over a field across the street. This bizarre craft, which looked like a “massive ball of Christmas lights” began rotating and moving, almost as if it was rolling down the field, only it definitely remained above the ground. After this craft “shot straight up into the air” and was gone, an enormous triangular craft passed directly over his house. How did the dog know these craft were in the area before they could be seen, and why was he so frightened by them?4

More recently, on January 4, 2013, a man in Pine Bush, NY, who works in law enforcement, couldn’t get his dogs to stop barking out in the yard. As he was trying to calm them down, he realized “There was something huge in the sky that blocked out all the stars.” The object was an incredibly large, silent rectangle at an altitude of about 200-250 feet. There were several white lights along the edges, one in the center, and one red light, as well.

Finally, there is the remarkable case from Monroe, NY in 1982. A woman, Donna, was in bed with her husband when her two Samoyed dogs “started going crazy” as if there were intruders in the house. Donna tried to wake up her husband, but he somehow remained in a deep sleep despite all the barking.

“Then there were these bright lights shining in the bedroom window, as if a Mack truck had just pulled up.” The next thing Donna knew was that it was morning. Her skeptical husband didn’t believe a word of what she told him about the dogs and the lights, and her being unable to awaken him—until he went outside to look for any signs that something had been there.

Running back in the house, white as a sheet, he told Donna that the huge pile of sand that was in the driveway (which was going to be used for a construction project) was completely gone. All that was left was a few concentric circles of sand which had been compressed and fused into the blacktop! Fortunately, they had the presence of mind to take photographs, so we can estimate the size of the outermost circle, which was about 12 feet in diameter. And while the original circles have been paved over, Donna told me that I would be welcome to uncover and study them, if I can find the appropriate scientific team to do it.

So what are we to learn from “man’s best friends” and their reactions to UFOs? They are able to sense a lot more than we are, and can sense whatever it is at greater distances and long before our eyes and ears can pick it up. Researchers and investigators should always include questions about witnesses’ pets, as well as inquire about the reactions of birds, livestock, wild animals such as deer, and insects.

There is more to UFO phenomena than we can probably imagine, but with the help of the faithful family dog, perhaps we can gain a little more insight and knowledge into the nature of the phenomena. And if your big, strong dog is terrified to go outside, maybe you should stay in the house, too!

Coming out and telling the world is part of a healing process that helps you deal with both what you have seen, and how can fit into the world around us. Adjusting and coming to grips with the truth about aliens is a giant step forward. To say you believe is one thing, but to know they exist is a totally different thing.

UFOs over City and Soccer Game Recorded Over Pennsylvania and Florida, Video, UFO Sighting News.

Here are two extraordinary videos of UFOs that were reported to MUFON this week. One takes place a a soccer game in Pennsylvania and the other takes place in Florida. Both move extraordinarily fast and without flapping, pausing, or turning. The first UFO has an really strange shape and seems to be observing the players. The second craft is also odd. Nothing known has the speed of the craft in the second video, which was recorded by a drone. Its just mind blowing.

Watch – UFO Crossing California Desert Sky

YouTube user Frank Zappa recorded a video of mysterious bright light in the sky for 2 minutes. UFO enthusiasts said that the footage is one of the clearest UFO videos in years. The videographer uploaded the clip to the video sharing site. Frank Zappa is a famous musician but has been dead for ten years, so it appears unlikely that the musician himself posted it.

According to the report, the UFO was flying overhead at 5:20 pm on Wednesday, May 3 in the California Desert. California has the most reported UFO sightings in the U.S. A new book “UFO Sightings Desk Reference,” analyzed over 120,000 reports of UFOs and determined more people in California believed they had come in contact with ET life than anyone else in the nation.

Many believe that the UFO video shows the real thing and not faked in any way. However, some linked the sighting to the nuclear weapons testing in North Korea. In 1950’s, an atomic bomb test done in Nevada also attracted hundreds of alien spacecraft. Some speculate that the reported UFO sighting could be the missile from Vandenberg or even the DPRK.

The book’s co-author Cheryl Costa said they found out that every county in the U.S. had at least one sighting in the past 15 years. Santa Clara County has the most number of sightings at 569 in Northern California. Alameda County in second with 578 reported sightings and San Francisco in third with 327 reports.

Alien-Human New Mexico Battle Left Dozens Dead

Phil Schneider has become known to the world after he told an amazing story of his encounter with extraterrestrial beings living underground while working as an explosives expert. He claimed to have helped the U.S. government in building secret underground bases in 1979 in Dulce, N.M.

Schneider further claimed there was a battle with aliens in August 1979 and he was one of the three survivors. He is the only person so far with a high-level security clearance revealing details on the knowledge of the government of alien beings.

Two years before his death in 1997, he was very vocal against the government for keeping people in the dark. He gave various talks detailing his experiences about the alien base and battle.

Schneider claimed many attempts to silence him after he started talking what he experienced. He reportedly died by suicide in 1997, but his supporters suspected it was not the case.

Schneider said that he saw so many Special Forces Green Berets around the camp in the underground base he was helping to build. The work team reportedly drilled four large holes to start the construction. Schneider revealed in a lecture at the Preparedness Expo in 1995 that all the black sooty air came up when they drilled the holes there. He went underground to assess the area, but he found himself just feet away from a 7-foot-tall alien called the big gray.

Schneider described the stench as worse than the worst garbage can, and the entity was horrible. He fumbled for a pistol that was with him at that moment and killed two of the aliens, but one of them managed to emit a mysterious and harmful energy. The alien had made a circular motion with his hand and waved it in front of his chest. Then a blue beam hit Schneider and opened up like a fish.

The beam burned off some of his fingers on the left hand hit his chest and burned his shoes and toenails.

A Green Beret saved Schneider’s life and the former got the latter into a lift and pushed the button to raise him up to safety.

Schneider said that more than 60 people lost their lives that day, including the Green Beret who saved him. He further revealed that the other two survivors were in nursing homes in Canada, protected by the Canadian government that no American citizens were allowed to access them. The two survivors were scared of being kidnapped, according to Schneider.

Schneider also revealed that wars under have been going on since that time. He was referring to 1,477 underground bases in different parts of the world, and 129 of which were in the U.S.

UFO caught on tape just outside Area 51!!

Witness report:

 Ok, it’s been a while since I uploaded a new video to my channel. I had to do some research of my own in order to find out the truth about this phenomena. I went to area 51 with a couple of fellow UFO enthusiasts. We captured this interesting footage. This object appeared out of nowhere. It started to move faster until it reached an incredible speed. It did not make any sound, no sonic boom. It was only after the video analysis we noticed a second and even a third object in the video. We don’t know what this object was. Like I said it was captured just outside the border of area 51. What could it be?

Could "Planetary Protection" Scuttle Otherworldly Exploration?

Scientists are grappling with the problem of biological cross-contamination between Earth and other worlds

On Sept. 15, 2017, NASA's Cassini spacecraft will take a suicide plunge into Saturn to avoid contaminating the ringed planet's potentially habitable moons, Titan and Enceladus. 

Cassini's fate is tied to the issue of planetary protection, which refers to the measures scientists and engineers take to minimize that chances that life-forms from Earth make it to other worlds. And with NASA's Mars 2020 rover planning to cache samples to one day return to Earth's labs, planetary protection also means making sure that our own world is safe from contamination by possible alien life.

Planetary protection was the first item on the agenda at the Astrobiology Science Conference, which was held last week in Mesa, Arizona. Chemists, biologists, planetary scientists, astronomers and other researchers all vigorously discussed the issue at the meeting's first session on Monday morning (April 24). "Planetary protection has never been more important to consider," said Andrew Maynard, a researcher at Arizona State University's Risk Innovation Lab, who led the discussion. 

Citing Mars sample return, an upcoming mission to Jupiter's ocean-harboring moon Europa and possible future probes that could visit other icy satellites, Maynard engaged the audience of scientists with the stated intent of changing how they think about the process. Maynard, who is not an astrobiologist but a physicist, turned the attention of the room to studies on risk assessment, urging researchers to consider risk not as something to be avoided but rather as "a complex landscape to be moved through to reach goals."

He also said that analyzing the risk of contamination, either of Earth or another world, isn't the exclusive purview of any particular group of scientists — or of scientists in general.  

"Everybody has got some stake," Maynard said.

PROTECTING THE EARTH

Concern about contamination has been part of exploration since the dawn of the Space Age. The first three sets of astronauts to land on the moon were kept in isolation on their return to Earth to ensure they hadn't brought any pathogens home with them. [NASA's 17 Apollo Moon Missions in Pictures]

Before NASA's Viking 1 and Viking 2 landers were sent to Mars to hunt for life, they were sterilized to minimize the odds that Earth microbes could contaminate their experiments. The robotic explorers that followed were similarly cleansed. And in 1967, the countries of the world agreed that their space missions would work to avoid contaminating Earth or other worlds, making planetary protection an international goal.

The moon rocks returned by Apollo astronauts soon revealed Earth's natural satellite as a barren, inhospitable place unsuitable for life. The comets and asteroids sampled by past and ongoing missions have already polluted Earth's surface, and NASA has deemed these objects unlikely to harbor life.

But Earth has received relatively few samples from Mars in the form of meteorites. While some scientists think that life could have started on the Red Planet and then hitched a ride to Earth, the issue is far from certain. So, when it comes to returning samples from Mars, space agencies will take great care not to infect Earth.

According to NASA procedural requirement NPR 8020.12: "Unless the sample to be returned is subjected to an accepted, approved, sterilization process, the sample container must be sealed after sample acquisition, and a redundant, fail-safe containment with a method for verification of its operation before Earth-return shall be required."

The requirement also states: "The mission and the spacecraft design shall provide a method to 'break the chain of contact' (BTC) with Mars. No uncontained hardware that contacted Mars, directly or indirectly, may be returned to Earth unless sterilized."

But scientists are still debating just what the biggest concerns are. Maynard's presentation, which involved randomly polling audience members and engaging them in debate, revealed that many of the scientists involved in studying how life could evolve beyond Earth disagree on just how much we need to worry about contamination. 

Although the Martian surface appears bereft of life, some researchers think microbes might still exist underground. A sample-return mission could therefore theoretically carry living organisms back to Earth along with rocks and dirt. Whether a Martian microbe could survive on our planet remains a subject of heavy debate.

For instance, during the discussion period, Vladimir Airapetian, a researcher at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, argued that a living thing that evolved on Mars shouldn't be able to find a place on Earth because all of the planet's biological niches have been filled. 

But Benjamin Wolf of Washington University in St. Louis disagreed. "I don't like the argument that we think the niches are taken," he said, citing the success that many invasive species on Earth have had when pushing into previously occupied niches. 

"People didn't realize that kudzu would take over the entire South," Wolf said, describing the Japanese vine that has blanketed the southern United States since its 1876 introduction. "We need to understand that sometimes scientists don't know things."

Geochemist Stuart Bartlett, of the Tokyo Institute of Technology's Earth-Life Science Institute, also expressed concern about potentially bringing home organisms able to survive in the extreme conditions on Mars.

"Backwards contamination seems like a more natural candidate for spreading exponentially and invading," Bartlett said.

But Maynard doesn't think that scientists should be the only participants in the discussion. He encouraged opening a dialogue with the public, who would also be affected if a harmful organism were returned to Earth. With most of the world unversed in the potential hazards, Maynard encouraged scientists to do a better job of communicating potential issues, a process that would allow everyone to work together to make an informed decision.

He pointed to the opening of the Large Hadron Collider, a particle accelerator along the France-Switzerland border whose activation some feared would create a microscopic black hole with the potential to destroy Earth. While this risk was considered marginal, Maynard pointed out that the improbable disaster would have a worldwide effect, and that scientists included society in the discussion in a reasonable fashion. (No black hole destroyed Earth when the accelerator was switched on, of course.)

When it comes to sample-return missions, scientists need to determine just how large the threat of extraterrestrial contamination might loom, Maynard said.

"It seems like we have a huge diversity of opinion whether alien life is able to survive on Earth," he said.

CONTAMINATING MARS

During the April 24 discussion, scientists also debated the threat exploration missions pose to the pristine environment of Mars and other worlds. Red Planet rovers and landers are kept in strict isolation throughout their construction, which takes place in clean rooms around the world. Components are sterilized to the best ability of current technology, but researchers stress that it's impossible to kill every microbe aboard any craft.

The concern with carrying micro-organisms abroad is twofold. One issue involves the possibility of interfering with experiments designed to hunt for life on another world. If a terrestrial microbe hitched a ride, it could be picked up by the mission's tests, causing scientists to wrongly believe they had discovered alien life. Such a mistake, while disappointing in itself, could also affect how people around the world view scientists, participants in the April 24 session said.

"If NASA spent $5 billion on a life-detection mission and discovered life from Earth, then the loss of public trust would really shoot up," said Linda Billings, a researcher at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

A terrestrial organism traveling to another world via spacecraft also has the potential to infect that world, overwhelming or driving out any existing life. Many of the commenters who didn't think Martian microbes would flourish on Earth also seemed to believe that terrestrial life would be unlikely to thrive on the Red Planet, because of the considerable differences between the two worlds' environments.

But that's just speculation. And even if life from one world wouldn't last long on the other, it's important to keep things clean for the sake of understanding science, researchers at the session said.

"We need to save the Mars questions for Mars and the Earth questions for Earth," one person in the room said. 

The desire to keep Mars free from Earth-based contamination could have serious implications when it comes to sending people to the Red Planet. Humans don't live in isolation; we carry a fleet of micro-organisms everywhere we go, and these tiny creatures outnumber our own cells about 10 to 1. 

"If we send humans anywhere, we contaminate the planet, because we're dead if we're sterile," said one commentator. So, human exploration could lead to a conflict with planetary protection.

Not everyone agrees that humans would automatically contaminate the Red Planet, however. John Rummel, an astrobiologist at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, and former NASA Planetary Protection Officer, told the room that he doesn't think there has to be a conflict. 

"I don't think it's an all-or-nothing game," Rummel told Space.com. Human exploration could be incremental, he said, with the first explorers making only the most cautious steps outside of their habitation.  

NASA and other government agencies aren't the only organizations that seek to put boots on Mars. For example, last September, SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk unveiled his company's plan to help establish a million-person city on the Red Planet.

Even if such efforts succeed, they won't necessarily cause native Mars life to be swamped by microbes from Earth, Rummel said — especially if Red Planet organisms exist only underground, where they're shielded from harmful radiation. 

"Musk is not going to have tourists interfering with the deep Martian subsurface," Rummel said.

Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell’s claims he knows for sure UFOs are real, that there is an alien presence visiting the Earth (and the space around us) and the U.S. government has been aware of it for several decades. The sixth man to walk on the moon stated, “My own experience talking to people has made it clear the ETs had been attempting to keep us from going to war and help create peace on Earth.”

 NASA photos show gigantic artificial structures – suggesting the Moon is being used as a base, and possibly a staging area, by a mysterious race of alien beings. We heard from experts, as well as astronauts who walked on the moon, and revealed new facts and proof of artificial alien structures. NASA photos show the undeniable existence of what look like installations, factories, hangers and huge satellite dishes. Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin revealed that a UFO followed his spacecraft for three days on its way to the historic moonwalk. Towers rise up from the lunar surface, higher than anything made on Earth. · Extensive “pipelines” cross over crater rims, and bridges span massive lunar canyons and there is evidence of mining. Russian Space Agency lunar orbiter photos show a huge “spire” clearly sticking straight up from the Moon’s surface, as well as a partially destroyed “dome.”

Astronauts and NASA personnel have revealed that UFOs and aliens were seen when we landed on the Moon. The attached face gives you an idea of their appearance that is part of a Moon structure near the South Pole region.

Here are some interesting discoveries Scott C. Waring made  on our moon.

As you can see, there are two glowing UFOs in the distance far behind the astronauts on the Apollo 15 mission. The Apollo 15 mission was the fourth mission to walk on the moon. The UFOs were bright and similar to a lot of the UFOs seen around Earth daily.

They have also been seen over Temple Rock and the mountains of Denver, Colorado. This is 100% evidence that Astronauts did see UFOs during the moon walks.  Reports indicate the craft landed near the astronauts and the aliens walked around their craft but did not appear aggressive.

David Scott and James Irwin flew their LM to a perfect landing at 6:16 P.M. EDT July 30, at Hadley Rille. Landing approach over the Apennine Range – one of the highest on the moon – was at an angle of 26 degrees, the steepest approach yet used in Apollo missions.

During three periods of extravehicular activity, or EVA, on July 31, and August 1 and 2, 1971, Scott and Irwin completed a record 18 hours, 37 minutes of exploration, traveled 17.5 miles in the first car that humans have ever driven on the moon, collected more than 170 pounds of lunar samples, set up the ALSEP array, obtained a core sample from about 10 feet beneath the lunar surface, and provided extensive oral descriptions and photographic documentation of geologic features in the vicinity of the landing site during the three days (66 hours, 55 minutes) on the lunar surface.

On August 2, 1971, LM Falcon fired its ascent stage engine and lifted off the moon for its rendezvous with command module, and put Apollo 15 on its path back to Earth.

UFO Crashes into the Arctic Sea

A UFO crashed through the Arctic ice 6 years ago, and has been operating in the Arctic sea ever since, according to newly released documents made available from State Dept. e mails, by way of the FSB’s Wikileaks division.

The villagers of Igloolik, Nunavut were asleep when a streak quickly crossed the sky and struck the ice with a bang. 200 villagers came out their doors, but there was nothing to see except black water steaming and bubbling through a round, 10 meter hole in the ice. It was a night late in November 2010 and no one wanted to linger long outside in the middle of a dark night. The truth of what had happened was almost unimaginable.

This is not the first time that the Canadian Navy has been forced to investigate UFO phenomena. The Shag Harbor UFO incident was the reported impact of an unknown large object into waters near Shag Harbor, a tiny fishing village in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia on October 4, 1967. At least eleven people saw a low-flying lit object head towards the harbor at about 11:20 p.m… Multiple witnesses reported hearing a whistling sound “like a bomb,” then a “whoosh,” and finally a loud bang. The object was never officially identified, and was therefore referred to as an unidentified flying object (UFO) in Government of Canada documents. The initial report was made by local resident Laurie Wickens and four of his friends. Driving through Shag Harbor they spotted a large object descending into the waters off the harbor.

Once at a better vantage point, Wickens and his friends saw an object floating 1000 feet offshore. Wickens contacted the RCMP detachment and reported he had seen a large airplane or small airliner crash into the waters off Shag Harbor. The Canadian military became involved in a subsequent rescue/recovery effort. Assuming an aircraft had crashed, within about 15 minutes, 10 RCMP officers arrived at the scene as the object started to sink and disappeared from view.

But by the next morning, the RCMP had determined that no aircraft were missing. Divers allegedly claimed they spotted a UFO conducting repairs at the bottom of harbor. The cause of the incident was never solved by the Canadian authorities.

Trump Orders Complete Disclosure of UFO Data Kept by CIA in Area 51

As he spoke to astronauts on the International Space Station on Monday, President Donald Trump has ordered the Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency to review and release all files concerning space aliens and Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs.

Trump promised to take this step in his inaugural speech. He said: “We stand at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the Earth from the miseries of disease, and to harness the energies, industries and technologies of tomorrow.

“A new national pride will stir our souls, lift our sights, and heal our divisions.”

It comes as a surprising development to some, as Trump hasn’t commented on the issue of extraterrestrial life and has never before specifically said that confidential UFO sighting papers should be released. Talking to Astronaut Peggy Whitson on the ISS, however, Trump recommitted NASA to a Mars mission during his second term, i.e. the early 2020’s.

During her campaign Hillary Clinton made it clear she would do all she could to release secret files on UFO’s. Of course, her husband Bill Clinton made the same promise and never did. The truth is still out there.

 Commander Bethune VIP Pilot Saw UFOs

Commander Graham Bethune is a retired Navy Pilot and a good friend. During his 26 years of active duty he qualified in over 100 different models of aircraft.

In February 5, 1951, he and two other Navy Pilots were sent to Keflavik, Iceland on a Secret mission to meet with the Icelandic Government and Lockheed Overseas, who managed the Airport.

On February 10, 1951, while Piloting a four engine Navy R5D Transport returning from Keflavik, to Argentia, Newfoundland, he had an eight minute encounter with an “Unidentified Flying Object” that was 300 feet in diameter. The first chapter of Major Keyhoe’s book “Flying Saucers Top Secret” is devoted to this famous encounter.

During the Disclosure Project, Commander Bethune revealed his Flight 124 from Keflavik, Iceland was involved with a near miss of a UFO in 1951, about 300 miles outside of Argentia, Newfoundland, over the Atlantic Ocean flying a R5D aircraft. Here is Graham’s account of his sighting.

“My name is Graham Bethune. I am a commander, retired pilot from the Navy and I went through the regular Navy program of training pilots. I graduated in 1943 from Pensacola Academy Air. All Navy pilots are trained navigators, which is very important because we had to know all of the star system. I navigated maybe 13 years around the planet with the stars. And when I first graduated from Pensacola in 1943 I went to the South Atlantic and we were hunting German submarines. This was all night flying.”

When we landed at Argentia, an Air Force officer interrogated us and showed us photos of UFOs asking me to choose the type we had seen. He made a good report, which went to the headquarters of the Air Force in Washington, D.C.

Commander Bethune flew Naval Transports for 12 years, and was a “VIP Transport Plane Commander,” and held a “Top Secret” clearance. He was a test pilot and served six years with the Naval Bureau of Aeronautics. He accumulated over 10,000 Navy and civilian flying hours. He flew the Secretary of the Navy, Secretary of the Army, Chief of Naval Operations, Commandant of the Marine Corps, the Supreme Allied Commander, and the NATO Commander Admiral Lynde McCormick, and numerous admirals. If a UFO crashed or an important meeting concerning UFOs occurred he would be chosen to pilot the VIPs to their destination.

Commander Bethune mentioned he flew high ranking officers to Utah  where a 100 foot’ in diameter and slightly oval craft had crashed. There were US Air Force, Army and Navy officers in attendance as well as scientists and academics from various stateside universities. Both discs were retrieved and brought back to Wright Patterson.

Col. Donald Ware shared, “Graham personally told me that he flew General George Marshall and high ranking Naval personal and scientists to two crash retrievals – one in Iceland and one in Utah.Frank Chili sent me this photo that was given to him by Commander Bethune. He was quite insistent that US Air Force was getting the focus of UFO attention from the public, but the real player in this and always behind the scenes was the US Navy. Graham was informed by Admiral Forney himself and Graham never doubted that a ploy was set-up to divert attention away from the Navy. Graham also claimed we had a base on the moon and we had a Navy space shuttle fleet. He felt truth is often stranger than science fiction that ET movies are supported by the government to create acceptance.

Graham confide in Donald M. Ware, Lt Colonel USAF (Ret), who was for ten years Florida State MUFON Director and former Eastern Regional Director — then 18 years as a Director of the International UFO Congress. They discussed Alien-Human Hybrids, underground bases, and the levels of consciousness to contact alien spirits.

 Lt. Colonel Donald Ware mentions that Commander Bethune had informed Ware that he had flown Admiral Byrd to Antarctica in 1945 in a secret mission. On this flight were US Navy high ranking personnel, British Naval officers/scientists and some US scientists.

Prior to World War II the Germans had disc technology provided by Off Planet Visitors. The Germans weaponized the discs by putting machine guns and cannons on the craft. ‘

However, the Visitors interceded stating – that this technology violated a prime directive – that it could not be used for purposes of warfare. The Visitors told the Germans that they could use this technology but not for World War II and were given the option of moving the discs to a base in Antarctica, which is what they did with Hitler’s approval.

When Admiral Byrd reached Antarctica he attempted to negotiate with the German scientists to participate in a cooperative sharing their advanced technologies!

The meetings went very badly and the Germans absolutely refused to share any technology with the US and British governments.

Graham told Colonel Ware that Admiral Byrd needed to get this awful turn of events back to the Pentagon – to report directly to those who tasked Byrd with this mission.

Graham flew Byrd back to the Pentagon, wherein he told of the non-cooperation by the Germans.

The resulting failure of that initial meeting with the Germans in Antarctica set into motion the gears for a naval military action to force the Germans to share the technology.

Operation Highjump, officially titled The United States Navy Antarctic Developments Program, 1946–1947, was a United States Navy operation organized by Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd, Jr., USN Officer in Charge. Task Force 68 was led by Rear Admiral Richard H. Cruzan, USN. Operation Highjump commenced 26 August 1946 and ended in late February 1947. Task Force 68 included 4,700 men, 13 ships, and 33 aircraft. The Navy claims Operation Highjump’s primary mission was to establish the Antarctic research base Little America

Highjump’s objectives, according to the U.S. Navy report of the operation, were

1. Training personnel and testing equipment in frigid conditions;
2. Consolidating and extending the United States’ sovereignty over the largest practicable area of the Antarctic continent (publicly denied as a goal even before the expedition ended).
3. Determining the feasibility of establishing, maintaining, and utilizing bases in the Antarctic and investigating possible base sites;

Allegedly the Task Force was attacked and took heavy casualties. Naval ships and personnel were withdrawn back to the United States in late February 1947, and the expedition was terminated due to the early approach of winter and worsening weather conditions.  Graham did not participate himself in the action of Highjump himself.

 Admiral Byrd discussed the lessons learned from the operation in an interview with Lee van Atta of International News Service held aboard the expedition’s command ship the USS Mount Olympus. The interview appeared in the Wednesday, March 5, 1947 edition of the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio and read in part as follows:

Admiral Richard E. Byrd warned today that the United States should adopt measures of protection against the possibility of an invasion of the country by hostile planes coming from the Polar Regions. The admiral explained that he was not trying to scare anyone, but the cruel reality is that in case of a new war, the United States could be attacked by planes flying over one or both poles.

This statement was made as part of a recapitulation of his own polar experience, in an exclusive interview with International News Service. Talking about the recently completed expedition, Byrd said that the most important result of his observations and discoveries is the potential effect that they have in relation to the security of the United States.

 “The fantastic speed with which the world is shrinking – recalled the admiral – is one of the most important lessons learned during his recent Antarctic exploration. I have to warn my compatriots that the time has ended when we were able to take refuge in our isolation and rely on the certainty that the distances, the oceans, and the poles were a guarantee of safety.”

Colonel Ware claims a new disclosure campaign with military aviation is involved. Most people are not aware yet that between 1943 and 1947 the US Government, with the help of our British and Canadian allies and the Ambassador from Venus and 450 of his trained engineers built 500 discs with gravity motors in a hidden 300 square-mile valley in British Columbia, Canada.

UFO Near ISS

On April 29, 2017, at around 21:06 g.m.t for 15 seconds during a live stream of the International Space Station I observed a faint light which got lighter before appearing as two whitish lights before materializing into what I can only describe as a “flying saucer” the event. I managed to screenshot the photos on my iPhone. i know what this wasn’t and would hope somebody else has this footage on video. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Marpha Light Explained by a Plasma Engineer

Sharon and Gerald her husband investigated the Marpha Lights in the late 1990s, and had some close calls. One time a light appeared near them, and began to chase them in their SUV as they raced along dirt roads to get away from it. These are very hot and dangerous plasma lights, that can kill, burn and injure as lightning can. The problem was that they always appeared far enough away that by the time an investigator got close in his car, the show was over.  So Jim Bunnell got landowner permission to put cameras mounted on sheds or on poles near where they showed up. These were surrounded by fences to keep cattle and people out, and had an internet dish on top. He put a lot of money and time into this project. He could remotely operate the cameras, and had sensors that automatically turned the cameras to wherever lights appeared.  He ultimately got geologic data that showed a deep fault runs across the region where the lights appear, and concluded that energy following the magnetic lines of the magnetosphere interacted with deep electrical energy in the fault, and caused “ball lightning” to form in the atmosphere near the ground. Bunnell was a NASA and aerospace engineer, who were convinced that all UFO lights were natural atmospheric phenomena that he wouldn’t look at my evidence which showed that some sightings were physical objects operated by intelligent life.  Alien visitation scared him.

Mothman Returns

Three separate witnesses in the Chicago area reportedly spotted an enormous flying creature that some have likened to the legendary Mothman entity.

According to Roger Marsh of MUFON, who received the reports, the sightings all occurred during a four-hour period on an evening in mid-April. The first known appearance of the creature occurred around 10 PM when the initial witness says that she and her husband as well as a pair of friends noticed what looked like an enormous bat flying over them while they were out on Lake Michigan. She speculated that the monstrous flying beast was around six-and-a-half feet long and possessed eerie eyes that glowed in the moonlight. Although the mysterious creature departed rather quickly, the group then saw a bright green UFO skim across the sky.

They had an overwhelming sensation of dread. Thirty minutes later when a group of people noticed a huge owl-like creature that looked to be six feet tall and had glowing red eyes. The scene was so strange that they speculated that it could have been a Lechuza, which is a legendary shape shifting entity in Mexico that transforms from an old woman into an owl.

In the final report, a man and his co-workers saw the creature at around 2 AM,. The flying ‘thing’ was nearly seven feet tall and was jet black aside from bright yellow eyes. The creature made everyone feel “very uneasy” and some co-workers actually threw rocks at it! Although the reports could be hoaxes, last year Chicago had 700 murders and in 2017 has 200.

Mothman has often been associated with tragedy. For example, Mothman sightings continued for months in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and came to a head on December 15, 1967, with the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge. Forty-six people died when the bridge collapsed, which connected to Gallipolis, Ohio. Speculation is that Mothman may provide warning or actually create the deaths.

A man called into the WSAZ News station this past Sunday to report that he saw the Mothman while driving on Route 2 in Point Pleasant WV. The man, who only recently moved to the city, was not aware of the legend prior to snapping three photos.  In 1975, John Keel wrote in The Mothman Prophecies that  “there would be many changes in the lives of those touched by” Mothman, and a “few would even commit suicide.” Mary Hyre and Ivan Sanderson were named in John Keel’s book as having died before the tenth anniversary of his Mothman investigations. There have been many strange deaths of people who have seen the Mothman. Investigator Gray Barker noted in Spacecraft News #3, in 1966, that when he was investigating Mothman near Point Pleasant, he found a note on his door with this message, “ABANDON YOUR RESEARCH OR YOU WILL BE REGRET. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.”
Shockingly Close to the Truth, Barker died on December 6, 1984, at age 59 from the simultaneous failure of various organs, in a Charleston, West Virginia, hospital.

In 2002, The Mothman Prophecies is a  American supernatural horror mystery film directed by Mark Pellington, based on the 1975 book of the same name  by parapsychologist and Fortean  John author  Keel.

The film stars Richard Gere as John Klein, a reporter who researches the legend of the Mothman.

Arizona Light

Yuma — Sitting outside on the porch I looked up and saw blinking light on April 24, 2017, .I thought I saw it moving was not sure but I use the telephone pole and wires to use as a guide to make sure I was seeing it move.

I was not afraid; In fact I was talking to it to come closer so I could see it better. It moved down and then going left and out of sight, very slowly. About 8:15 PM. I am still going outside and still see it. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Arkansas Lights

Bay — Arriving to work under the overcast with no visible lights in sky on May 3, 2017, until I noticed a very bright solid orange light traveling north. At first thought was an airplane but it was strange looking so I pulled over to observe it. The object stopped and hovered as I took two pictures. As I drove to work the object was moving and appeared above me. I asked a coworker to look at the object with me. During this time the object dimmed out completely but then brightened back up three times. I had to go into work but two hours later the sun was up and the object was very high up reflecting the sun off of it. At this time I could also see three jets and four minutes later it just vanished. My coworker also observed this. Thanks to MUFON CMS

California Object

San Jose — I went outside around 3 AM staring at the sky on May 2, 2017. I noticed a star moving around and realized there were more moving lights. Some were larger than others and it seemed like the smaller ones were connected to the larger ones and kind of blue. I noticed that the movements of the two were matching. Foggy clouds came rolling in from the north that looked like the smaller blue objects were dissipating the clouds.
I sat and watched all this for an hour and noticed three orange-ish shapes close to the ground towards downtown. I looked around the whole sky and these orbs were all over. They were like bubbles about 20 feet above my head. They looked like transparent chrome/gold spheres with a huge white light hovering just above the East Hills. Now one of those orbs was following me closer only15 feet above my head. If I looked away it would go higher but while I walked around, it would cruise back down closer to me. I crossed through a gate with power lines around it and it disappeared. The light above the mountain started to ascend real slow, getting a little smaller. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Florida Lights

Miami – I got home from work around 2:25 AM, and happened to look to the south and noticed a flashing light with colors on April 17, 2017. It was dancing around so I got my phone and started to record and watched for a minute and 30 seconds. There were no planes or helicopters around. There was no way it could have been a reflection from anything where I was at. The recording is a little shaky. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Idaho UFO

Gooding — An unknown object in the sky was discovered while viewing a series of “burst” photographs during a relay race. The object only appears in one photo even though there is no evidence of anything in the sky in any of the other photos that occurred only seconds before. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Franklin Park — My husband and I stepped out on the deck to smoke a cigarette and I noticed a red light coming in real fast from the north on April 28, 2017. There were 6 or 7 moving one after another so I grabbed my IPad and started recording these lights. I live near O’Hara Airport and hear and see planes all the time. These were no airplanes, as planes make a lot of noise and when these were present it was quiet. We stood there staring at these lights trying to figure out what we were seeing. Maryland Disappearing Cylinder

Gambrills — Between 7:35-7:40 am, on the morning of April 27, 2017, as I was driving north on I-97 halfway between Annapolis and the MD-32 exit, I saw a long, reddish-brown, pencil-shaped cylindrical object that appeared to have been launched,” and was ascending slowly into the sky. This object appeared to be about five miles straight ahead of me, and approximately 1000 feet in the air and climbing slowly. Beneath it appeared to be a black plume of smoke; within the smoke were flashing lights. As I was staring at this object, a passing cloud obscured it completely. I was waiting for it to reappear, but when the cloud passed, the object had completely vanished.

I am a 58-year old retired Air Force member, currently working as a federal civil service worker for the U.S. Army at Fort Meade, MD. I was driving to work from Annapolis when I saw this object. Thanks to Peter Davenport NUFORC.COM

Largo, Maryland — I was on my way home on January 11, 2017 at 1:20 am driving on Harry S Truman Drive. I first spotted it about 700 feet away and maybe 40 feet high just above the tree line. It was just hovering above a vastly wooded area. There were flashing lights what looked like on every corner of the object sometimes white green or red. While I was filming the video I noticed it started to descend a little more below the tree line as if it were trying to hide. I put my window down to get a better image and I noticed the sound that it made was not typical of any aircraft that I’ve ever heard. It was very quiet and had a machine type of sound but no sound of propellers or jets. I saw sporadic flashes of light hitting the wooded area very fast. After I made a u turn to try and get closer it was no longer visible. Since a child I’ve always believed in UFO’s but never thought that I would see one…what was it that I really was seeing. Massachusetts Triangle

Bridgewater — I just got home at night and I looked up at the sky on April 4, 2017, when I noticed the object, I was surprised to see an oval-triangular object. The object was moving west to east. When it got over my house, it hovered for a while. I looked at it, for a long time. After a few minutes I went inside and when I looked outside it had vanished.
I was a little surprised, but it didn’t really scare me. It looked similar to a UFO that I have seen before. The object was more triangle than oval. Thanks to MUFON CMS

 — I saw this ring of lights last night on April 29, 2017. The lights were in the western sky, and it was an overcast night.

The ring of lights was stationary and did not move at all for many hours. The lights were coming from behind the clouds.

New Jersey Triangle

Florham Park — I was walking through my office park on April 28, 2017, when I saw a craft in the air to the right of the runway. It wobbled up to a height about 500 feet above the runway, and then hovered briefly. After hovering it appeared to get smaller. I photographed the craft with my Nikon D3200 and 200 millimeter lens. It was a clear day so I managed to get a picture during its hovering that is clear. There was no noise from the craft. There was no chatter on the air traffic control regarding planes out of the pattern, balloons, drones, etc. Planes continued to take off and land with no issues or acknowledgement of the craft. Texas Light

Laredo — My son and I were driving on Highway 59 about 8:15 pm, on 24 March 2017. We noticed three large bright white horizontal lights in the distance. The lights were in a straight line and not offset slightly in relation to each other. The object was traveling due east towards us. I told my son to look at it as it had no red or white flashing lights that would indicate some type of aircraft. I told him it looked like a UFO. As we passed the firing range on the outskirts of Laredo it appeared to be fixing to fly over us. It was very large and I thought I was going to get a good look at it. I told my son to video tape it. He started videotaping the object as it turned north and flew over the highway as it descended towards the lake and out of sight over the buildings. The white lights never flashed and were almost blinding they were so bright. My girlfriend’s brother works at the airport and has never seen anything like it. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Belgium Lights

 Ostend, Flanders — I was flying from London to Helsinki at night in a Finnair Airlines plane on March 1, 2017. Then I saw three bright lights. First I thought they were stars, but then I noticed that the lights outlined a black triangle. The triangle hovered and went in a different direction. Then the lights went out and I couldn’t see the triangle anymore. The rest of the flight was normal. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Canada Object

Oshawa, Ontario — While outside on my deck on Sunday, April 23, 2017 I was admiring clearer skies and looking about for anything unusual. After about one hour I noticed about a quarter mile away directly to the west a very high -slow bright white flashing objects. The intensity of brightness was high and low without the flashing you would not see it being so high. I started to film on high zoom at 10:35 am. I looked up the sky and I saw a big storm of lights at 11:10 pm. There were more than 30/35, moving in the sky from NE to SW. They made no noise, moving in circles and going up. The lights were white with a little reflex of blue. I had the clear sensation they were controlled by some entity because of the movements they made, like they had a plan. I was surprised and scared at the same time: I got my iPhone and took a picture and a little video. I called my wife’s father and a friend who were surprised as I was. I stayed there looking up at the sky till they disappeared. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Ireland Object

The sighting was recorded on May 1, 2017, while flying over Ireland en route to Orlando, Florida from Manchester, England. The flight number was Condor Flight MT 2604 owned by Thomas Cook Airlines. The object was observed while cruising at 38,000 feet. The object emitted a strange black trail and tended to change shapes. I have to say I was a bit stunned because I did not know what it was. I appear to be the only witness to the sighting. The object eventually turned and flew out of sight. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Philippines Object

Angeles City Pampamga Province — First I will state that being a U.S. Marine, I’m a trained observer. I had already been well awake by 3 am and had coffee and was on the computer, when at 5:40 am, I heard my dogs carrying on outside and went to investigate
I caught sight of the object and watched it only for 30 seconds before realizing that it wasn’t a plane, helicopter, or hot air balloon and ran into the house and grabbed my cell phone as it was the closest camera available.

The object first appeared to be about 700 feet high, but as the object had moved into the background of my house it appeared to be gaining altitude, I snapped three photos as it passed beyond the peak of the roof over my bedroom, moving southeast towards Manila.

The object made no sound at all, and it had no visible lights of any kind, it seemed to be moving about the same speed as a small plane at first and was completely out of sight in about 3 minutes or less, apparently gaining speed. When I first looked at the pictures, I thought I missed it, as it looked like a speck of dust or dirt, I then downloaded them to my desktop computer and cropped the photos, and then I could see better detail. I was a bit stunned when saw it, as I had never seen any craft like this before, and it clearly had a some type of leg structure for landing. Three pictures were taken, and numbered in the order taken, the best being the first picture.

UK/England Sphere

Bridgwater, Devon — I was at the Bridgwater Carnival taking photographs of the procession when I spotted two strange objects above the float on November 7, 2015. I quickly took a photograph about 9:15 PM and the two objects moved away and flew over a nearby house when I lost sight of them. When I got home and looked at the photograph I could see that there were four strange objects in the photograph.

The first object appears to be a sphere and the second object appears to be large Ebani that is far away. Ebanis appear to be biological in nature that must have been drawn to the lights, loud music and the heat coming from the Carnival float. ,. These type of entities are usually scared off by loud noise so to see them get this close is very strange. I have taken many photographs of the entities that have appeared in the skies of Devon England. Some Ebanis can change into multiple shapes and sizes with internal motion and can be multiple colors. It really is fascinating has they are always accompanied by a sphere. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Newton Abbot — I was sky watching when I noticed a black object far off in the distance. The object was morphing into different shapes as it moved at a high rate of speed and ascending into the sky. The black object also had a bright white light that it flashed when it took on different forms. I managed to take three photograph of this very strange morphing object. What could this bizarre black morphing object be? It’s incredible, how was this thing able to change shape so quickly while moving so fast. The photographs were taken on the 28th of October 2016. The Crusty X-37B Space Plane Is as Mysterious as It Is Dirty

It returned to Earth after 718 days.

When an unmanned space plane landed unceremoniously Sunday morning at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, the only warning of its arrival was a sonic boom heard across central Florida. Shortly after landing, the U.S. Air Force got on Twitter to announce that the very loud spacecraft was an X-37B, a Boeing-made Orbital Test Vehicle that had been orbiting the Earth’s atmosphere for the past 718 days.

The X-37B is part of a classified space program that began at NASA in 1999 and was transferred to DARPA in 2004. The Air Force has successfully flown four separate UTV missions, spacecraft in 2010 and clocking a total of 2,085 days in orbit — but the mission’s trajectory and details about the project’s purpose are shrouded in secrecy.

When it returned to Earth, it was showing the wear and tear of a plane that’s been in flight for two years:

The Air Force has essentially been feeding the public the same line on the X-37B missions since it took over the project. The purpose of the X-37B is to demonstrate reusable spacecraft technologies and to operate experiments which can be returned to Earth for examination.

“We are incredibly pleased with the performance of the space vehicle and are excited about the data gathered to support the scientific and space communities,” Lt. Col. Ron Fehlen, X-37B program manager, said in a statement on Sunday.

Naturally, what the X-37Bs are actually doing up there has been on the minds of space enthusiasts for the better part of the last decade.

Evidence of Low Orbits

Back in 2015 Space.com reported on a network of amateur astronomers who had managed to track portions of the X-37B’s latest orbit shortly after its May 20 launch.

“It’s in a lower orbit than normal … had us confused for a while, as I thought it would be the standard operating orbit,” Greg Roberts, of Cape Town, South Africa, told Space.com.

Another member of the network, Ted Molczan of Toronto, had some theories:

“One thing that OTV-4 has in common with each of its predecessors is that its ground track nearly repeats after every 31 revolutions, which takes two days. This could be in support of a surveillance mission, to permit targets to be revisited frequently, or it may serve some other more mundane operational purpose that we have not discovered.”

A Spy Mission?

The spacecraft comes with a seven-foot-long by four-foot-wide payload bay, and what it’s being used for is — you guessed it — unknown.

Due to the vehicle’s low orbit, it’s been speculated that the X-37B OTVs are conducting spy missions for the Air Force.

In 2012, the BBC published a report that stated that the second mission’s similar orbit to Tiangong could imply that it was spying on the Chinese space lab.

Brian Weeden, a technical adviser with the Secure World Foundation and a former orbital analyst with the U.S. Air Force to Space was quick to disagree. He told Space.com that although the vehicles’ orbits appear similar, they only intersect twice per circuit, and at speeds so high it would be difficult to gather any data.

According to Space.com, rather than racing around the Earth in a polar orbit, the second X-37B mission was repeatedly flying over a stretch of the globe from 43 degrees north latitude to 43 degrees south. “It’s probably using that new technology to observe the Middle East and Afghanistan,” Weeden said.

Reconnaissance Payloads

With the orbital path of the most recent X-37B being classified, James Andrew Lewis, director and senior fellow in the Strategic Technologies Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, gave Air&Space an indication of what kind of work it might be doing, even if we can’t verify where it’s doing it.

“I think that’s probably what they’re not telling you, that there are payloads in there that might be part of the design for future reconnaissance satellites,” he said, noting that the Air Force is looking to transition away from large, expensive satellites to smaller, more advanced versions.

A fifth X-37B mission is expected to be launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida later this year.

Well this is a pretty cool little story. The new Moonrover Audi Lunar Quattro, the real piece of advanced technology scheduled to land on the moon next year in order explore and analyse what happened to pre-existing rovers, is also currently being used in the new Alien: Covenant film.

Yep, that's the Moonrover Audi Lunar Quattro in one of the neatest pieces of product/brand placement we've ever seen. Far from the rover being just a piece of excellent science fiction, and a damn cool prop in its own right, it is actually a fully functioning, high-tech piece of real world engineering set to actually blast off to Earth's moon in 2018.

Indeed, the Moonrover Audi Lunar Quattro is a really advanced piece of technology. Not only is it super light weight, with it constructed from 85 per cent aluminium (Audi's engineering nous helped reduce the weight of the final vehicle by 23 per cent), but it also features easily replicable 3D-printed components, and a 60-degree pivoting 100W solar panel that supplies it with energy and powers its super-efficient e-tron motor.

These features and more will help the Lunar Quattro navigate the moon's surface, take readings and record information, as well as operate for lengthy periods of time in a challenging atmosphere.

Interestingly, in Alien: Covenant the Moonrover is also deployed to help navigate and assess the challenging, unknown terrain of a new planet. However, in the fiction, the machine also has the ability to detect alien lifeforms - which here at T3 Towers we're guessing it does with dramatic results!

Some Of The World’s Top Scientists Met Recently To Discuss How To Find Alien Life

A remarkable meeting of minds took place in California last month on April 20 and 21. Stanford University was the scene for the second annual Breakthrough Discuss, where scientists from a variety of fields came together to tackle arguably the greatest question we have ever faced – are we alone in the universe?

The event was part of Breakthrough Initiatives, a bold program started by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner to spark advancements in the search for life. This includes searching for alien signals via Breakthrough Listen and potentially traveling to Proxima b, the closest exoplanet to Earth, with Breakthrough Starshot.

The idea of Breakthrough Discuss was not only to talk about these ventures, but also to explore the broader search for life. This includes finding potentially habitable worlds around nearby stars like the TRAPPIST-1 system and more recent discoveries relating to Enceladus. There were also discussions on the possibility of finding signals from aliens, known as the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI).

“I’m just so delighted with this meeting,” Jill Tarter from the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California, told IFLScience. “We want to know what our place in the universe is. Are we part of something that’s quite common, or are we totally separate and unusual and unique?”

Breakthrough Discuss began with a series of talks on red dwarf stars and their potential for hosting life. The idea has come to the fore recently, particularly with places like TRAPPIST-1 40 light-years away found to have multiple rocky planets in orbit. Red dwarfs are the most numerous stars in our galaxy, and their relative dimness compared to our Sun makes it easier to see and study the planets in orbit around them.

It’s still not clear if a planet in orbit around a red dwarf can be habitable; the stars are temperamental and prone to flaring. But they are undoubtedly attractive targets, and they may be some of the best places to look for life. Just the other day, a new planet was found around the red dwarf LHS 1140b, also about 40 light-years away, which has been heralded as a great place to look.

Guillem Anglada-Escudé from Queen Mary University of London gave the keynote talk of the conference, discussing how he and his team were going to study the nearest red dwarfs for planets. We already know Proxima Centauri 4.2 light-years away plays host to at least one – Proxima b – and it may have more. Now, Anglada-Escudé and his team will shift their focus to Barnard’s Star 6 light-years away, and other nearby red dwarfs, as part of a new project called Red Dots to find nearby planets. We should know by the end of the year if there’s anything there.

“We want to get more science done, look for more planets,” Anglada-Escudé, who was recently named one of Time’s 100 most influential people, told IFLScience. “You never know what’s there until you look for it.”

Finding these planets is only the first part, though. A number of scientists are now investigating what techniques we can use to work out if they have any life on them. Direct imaging of the surfaces will be next to impossible, so instead we’ll need to examine the atmospheres of the planets by studying the light that comes through them from their host star.

Most of the work in this area focuses on a handful of molecules such as oxygen and methane, but in total there are 1,500 molecules that could be useful. Huge upcoming ground-based telescopes – known as Extremely Large Telescopes (ELTs) – like the upcoming Thirty Meter Telescope in Hawaii and the Giant Magellan Telescope in Chile will help in this endeavor, as will NASA’s upcoming James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

“I’m very excited about the planets around low mass stars,” Sir Martin Rees, the UK Astronomer Royal, told IFLScience. “And I think it’s very good to realize that the next-generation race to build giant ground-based telescopes is going to open up the possibility of getting real spectroscopic data on the nearest planets.”

The field has changed dramatically in just a few years. In 2009, when NASA launched its Kepler Telescope, we still weren’t sure how common planets were around other stars. Now we know of thousands, and we’re honing in on some that could be habitable. Every star is now thought to host at least one planet on average, and likely many more.

And the question of finding life is the driving factor of it all. We’ve got no idea if life like that on our planet is common, or if we’re a rare gem in a dead universe. We may be able to answer that question inside our own Solar System, with places like Enceladus and Europa looking like they may have the necessary conditions for life. But exoplanets carry an almost equal allure.

“It’s an amazing time to be involved in the search for life,” Lisa Kaltenegger, director of the Carl Sagan Institute at Cornell University in New York, told IFLScience. “This is the first time in human history we have the means to do it, and if we get really lucky and find life starts everywhere, we could actually have the proof that we’re not alone in hand pretty soon.”

The idea that life might be common in the universe has also driven SETI for decades, with early pioneers like Frank Drake in 1960 suggesting we might be able to hear signals from advanced civilizations around other stars. SETI has struggled for funding over the years, but Milner’s injection of $100 million ensures the search will continue for at least 10 years as part of Breakthrough Listen.

“We’ll take funding from any source we can,” said Tarter. “If we discover a signal, or if we discover life beyond Earth, that information is not coming to California, it’s coming to the planet. These kinds of scientific explorations should be international and global.”

Truth be told, it was somewhat of an odd marriage seeing SETI discussed alongside more grounded science at Breakthrough Discuss. The prospect of finding a signal from an alien civilization is still far-fetched; in six decades of searching, we’ve found nothing. It’s often said that if we don’t look we’ll never know, but SETI remains somewhat fanciful.

“I’m working on the search for life on other planets, planets orbiting alien suns,” said Kaltenegger. “And at this conference, it’s the most conservative thing that’s being talked about!”

That’s not to say there might be nothing out there, and it might well be worth the search. Andrew Siemion, director of the Berkeley SETI Research Center, presented the first scientific results from the first year of the Breakthrough Listen project, on which he is also the lead. While nothing was found, this is one of the most extensive searches to date. If it draws a blank after a decade, well, that may force a rethink.

“At what point do we give up on SETI?” a panel of experts at Breakthrough Discuss was asked. “Not any time soon,” replied Tarter.

And then there was the grand finale, the discussion about actually sending a spacecraft to a planet around another star. This project, called Breakthrough Starshot, was announced in April 2016 to considerable fanfare. Using a giant laser on Earth, a small chip with a massive sail would be accelerated to one-fifth the speed of light, reaching Proxima Centauri – and thus Proxima b – in just 20 years.

Breakthrough Discuss, however, highlighted just how difficult such a proposal might be. One attendee told IFLScience that they thought the project was now less likely to happen that it was a year prior, based on the huge number of challenges that have become apparent.

One is actually firing the laser at the spacecraft in the first place, laid bare by Zac Manchester from Harvard University in a fascinating talk titled “How to ride a laser beam”. He pointed out that the force of the laser hitting a flat sail could send it spiraling off course, so it may be necessary to use a spherical sail to stay on track for Proxima. This itself presents new challenges that have yet to be solved, such as how to spread the force of the laser over the whole sail.

Even if the spacecraft gets there, sending data back is also a huge issue. The chip at its center will be barely a gram in weight, with the sail mere atoms thick. Thus there will be no room for an antenna to transmit data – including images of the planet – back to our planet. Some novel ideas include using the sail itself as a giant antenna, although we don’t yet know if this is possible.

And even if we get there, the flyby will be extremely brief. René Heller from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany said in a talk how, after 20 years of travel, the flyby would last just a matter of seconds. He instead proposed using Proxima’s companion stars, Alpha Centauri A and B, to slow down the spacecraft and enter orbit around Proxima b, something that would return much more data at the cost of a much longer mission. We’ve covered this interstellar roundtrip idea before if you want some more information.

But even if Starshot never gets off the ground, it is at least inspiring some critical thinking in the area of interstellar travel that has not been explored before. Even materials science stands to benefit, with Heller showing off a small piece of graphene that could be used to develop giant sails for traversing the Solar System and beyond.

And Yuri Milner himself seems anything but disheartened, explaining his ethos in a fascinating but sadly off-the-record discussion with IFLScience and other journalists. He remains committed to the cause though, and clearly wants to be part of a discovery that makes life on another planet a possibility, whether that’s humanity or an alien race.

“Breakthrough Discuss boldly demonstrated that we stand on the precipice of making one of the most amazing discoveries in the history of humanity,” Siemion told IFLScience.

For every speculative fantasy, the conference remained mostly grounded in science. If we are going to discover we are not alone, the people who'll find out were very likely present at this event.

The Search for Life on Mars Is about to Get Weird

Astrobiologists ponder sending gene sequencers, weather stations, drilling rigs and more to the Red Planet

MESA, Arizona—Since the dawn of the space age NASA and other agencies have spent billions of dollars to reconnoiter Mars—assailing it with spacecraft flybys, photo-snapping orbiters and landers nose-diving onto its surface. The odds are good, many scientists say, for the Red Planet being an extraterrestrial address for alien life—good enough to sustain decades’ worth of landing very expensive robots to ping it with radar, zap it with lasers, trundle across its terrain and scoop up its dirt. Yet against all odds (and researchers’ hopes for a watershed discovery), Mars remains a poker-faced world that holds its cards tight. No convincing signs of life have emerged. But astrobiologists continue to, quite literally, chip away at finding the truth.

As the search becomes more heated (some would say more desperate), scientists are entertaining an ever-increasing number of possible explanations for Martian biology as a no-show. For example, could there be a “cover up” whereby the harsh Martian environment somehow obliterates all biosignatures—all signs of past or present life? Or perhaps life there is just so alien its biosignatures are simply unrecognizable to us, hidden in plain view.

Of course, the perplexing quest to find life on Mars may have a simple solution: It’s not there, and never was. But as the proceedings of this year’s Astrobiology Science Conference held here in April made clear, life-seeking scientists are not giving up yet. Instead, they are getting more creative, proposing new strategies and technologies to shape the next generation of Mars exploration.

A SLUMBERING BIOSPHERE?

Talk about looking for Martians and you inevitably talk about water, the almost-magical liquid that sustains all life on Earth and seems to have served as an indispensable kick-starter for biology in our planet’s deepest past. “It all started out with ‘follow the water;’ not necessarily ‘follow the life’…but ‘follow one of the basic requirements for living systems,’” says Arizona State University geologist Jack Farmer, referring to NASA’s oft-repeated mantra for Martian exploration. “There are many indications of water on Mars in the past, perhaps reservoirs of water in the near subsurface as well,” he says. “But what is the quality of that water? Is it really salty—too salty for life?”

Without liquid water, Farmer points out, one would naively think organisms cannot function. The reality may be more complex: on Earth, some resilient organisms such as tardigrades can enter a profound, almost indefinite state of hibernation when deprived of moisture, preserving their desiccated tissues but neither growing nor reproducing. It is possible, Farmer says, that Martian microbes could spend most of their time as inert spores “waiting for something good to happen,” only springing to life given the right and very rare conditions. Certain varieties of Earthly “extremophiles”—microbes that live at extremes of temperature, pressure, salinity and so on—exhibit similar behavior.

Farmer says there is as yet no general consensus about the best way to go about life detection on the Red Planet. This is due in no small part to the runaway pace of progress in biotechnology, which has led to innovations such as chemistry labs shrunken down to fit on a computer chip. These technologies “have been revolutionizing the medical field, and have now started to enter into concepts for life detection on Mars,” he explains. Things move so fast that today’s best technology for finding Martian biology may be tomorrow’s laughably obsolete dead-end.

But no matter how sophisticated a lab on a chip might be, it won’t deliver results if it is not sent to the right place. Farmer suspects that seriously seeking traces of life requires deep drilling on Mars. “I basically think we’re going to have to gain access to the subsurface and look for the fossil record,” he explains. But discovering a clear, unambiguous fossil biosignature on Mars would also raise a red flag. “We probably would approach the future of Mars exploration—particularly accessing habitable zones of liquid water in the deep subsurface—more cautiously, because life could still be there. So planetary protection would be taken very seriously,” he says. (“Planetary protection” is the term scientists commonly use for precautions to minimize the chance of biological contamination between worlds. Think of it not so much in terms of bug-eyed aliens running rampant on Earth but of billion-dollar robots finding “Martians” that prove to only be hardy bacterial hitchhikers imported from our own world).

THE MARTIAN UNDERGROUND

Like-minded about deep diving on Mars is Penelope Boston, director of the NASA Astrobiology Institute at the agency’s Ames Research Center. “That’s my bias,” she says. “Given Mars’ current state, with all the challenging surface manifestations of dryness, radiation and little atmosphere, the best hope for life still extant on Mars is subsurface.” The subsurface, she says, might also offer better chances of preserving past life—that is, of fossils, even if only of single-celled organisms.

The planet’s depths hold the potential for harboring liquid water under certain circumstances, Boston thinks. But how far down might that water be? “I suspect it’s pretty far…and how we get to it, that’s a whole other kettle of fish,” she says. Over the years scientists have estimated the average depth of the planet’s possible liquid reservoirs as anywhere between tens of meters to kilometers. Then again, recent observations from orbiters have revealed mysterious dark streaks that seasonally flow down the sunlit sides of some Martian hillsides and craters. These “recurring slope lineae” could conceivably be brines of liquid water fed by aquifers very close to the surface, some researchers say.

Such lingering uncertainties emerge from the indirect and scattered nature of our studies of Mars, and ensure that any argument for life there is based solely on circumstantial information, Boston notes. “Each individual piece of evidence is, on its own merits, weak,” she says. Only by amassing a diverse suite of independent measurements can a well-built case for life on Mars be made, she says: “In my opinion, we can’t make that strong case unless we push to do all of those measurements on exactly the same precise spot. We don’t do that because it’s very difficult, but it’s something to aspire to.” Despite decades of sending costly hardware to Mars, Boston believes that what is still missing is a sense of harmony between instruments, allowing them to work together to support a search for alien life. “I think that the precise requirements of a really robust claim of life at the microscopic scale require us to push on further,” she notes.

Attendees at the astrobiology meeting in Arizona showcased an assortment of high-tech devices for next-generation exploration, ranging from microfluidic “life analyzers” and integrated nucleic acid extractors for studying “Martian metagenomics” to exquisitely sensitive, miniaturized organic chemistry labs for spotting tantalizing carbon compounds and minerals at microscopic scales. Missing from the mix, however, was any solid consensus on how these and other tools could all work together to provide a slam-dunk detection of life on Mars.

WHAT’S THE WEATHER?

Some scientists contend a new kind of focus is sorely needed. Perhaps the pathway to finding any Martians lurking in the planet’s nooks and crannies is to learn where exactly on Mars those potentially life-nurturing niches exist, and how they change over the course of days, months and years rather than over eons of geologic time. That is, to find homes for extant life on Mars today, researchers should probably not just be studying the planet’s long-term climate but also its day-to-day weather.

“Right now we’re sort of shifting gears. Once you’ve found out that a planet is habitable, then the next question is, ‘Was there life?’—so it’s a completely different ball game,” says Nathalie Cabrol, director of the Carl Sagan Center at the SETI Institute. “On Mars you cannot look for life with the tools that have been looking for habitability of that planet,” she argues. “We should be looking for habitats and not habitable environments. You are dealing on Mars with what I call extremophile extreme environments on steroids,” she says, “and you don’t look for microbial life with telescopes from Mars orbit.”

Cabrol advocates making an unprecedentedly robust, high-resolution study of environmental variability on Mars by peppering its surface with weather stations. Sooner or later telltale signs of the possible whereabouts of extant life may emerge from the resulting torrents of data. “Today’s environment on that planet is a reflection of something in the past,” she says, and planting numbers of automated stations on Mars does not need to be expensive. “This is of interest not only to astrobiology but to human exploration. The first thing you want to know is what the weather is like,” she says, adding, “Right now we’re not equipped to do this and I’m not saying it’s going to be easy to look for extant life. I’m not saying what we’re doing now is wrong. Whatever we put on the ground we are learning. But there is variability on Mars. You go up or down one meter, things change. Habitats at a microscopic level can happen at the scale of a slope. It can happen at the scale of a rock!”

MIGHT WE BE MARTIANS?

“I think Mars offers us the highest chance of finding life” somewhere beyond Earth, says Dirk Schulze-Makuch, a planetary scientist at Washington State University. But, like Boston and others, he maintains confirmation of life will only come from multiple “layers of proof” that have to be consistent with one another. “We really need at least four different kinds of methods,” he says. “My point is that there’s no slam-dunk. We need several instruments. You have to build a case, and right now we can do better…unless the biosignature through a microscope is waving hello.” The trouble, he adds, is that too-stringent planetary protection rules may preclude getting the evidence necessary for that proof. “We have the technology to go to places where there could be life,” he says. “But we can’t go to certain areas on Mars, like recurring slope lineae or…under patches of ice. It seems to be ridiculous.”

Indeed, Schulze-Makuch speculates planetary protection may be a lost cause for Mars—or at least a misguided endeavor. It may even be that any Martian microbes are actually Earth’s long-lost cousins. Or, conversely, Mars rather than Earth is really the sole site of biogenesis in our solar system. Both scenarios are possible, considering that single-celled organisms can likely survive world-shattering impacts and the subsequent interplanetary voyages if embedded in ejected shards of rock that could fall elsewhere as meteorites. Innumerable impacts of this scale battered the solar system billions of years ago, potentially blasting biological material between neighboring worlds. On balance, Schulze-Makuch says, “the chances are higher that we are Martians.”

Experts say the footage recorded through night vision technology show UFOs are hiding in plain sight above us.

Space experts believe three UFOs spotted in the sky could be a sign of an invisible alien spaceship moving above us.

Footage shows three orbs of light moving in formation, which experts believe could be the three corners of a triangular-shaped spaceship.

The UFOs in the clip, shared by experts at Secure Team 10 in America, start as small dots but soon become brighter.

The footage was filmed in Kentucky in the USA and sent in for analysis.

Tyler from Secure Team said: "This was captured on a night vision camera of three distinct objects moving in a perfect triangular formation, orbiting the planet it would seem."

He adds: "This is an amazing sighting, we see that these three objects, and I've watched this entire clip, these things stay locked into their position.

"If you watch closely there are a couple of other UFOs moving in other directions.

"These UFOs are not able to be seen with the naked eye.

"It is only once you use these specialty devices that can actually detect things in this specific light, we start to realise just how many of these unknown objects are sitting above us in plain sight.

"And you would only know were there if you had some of these night vision goggles or tech."

Mysterieus ruimtevliegtuig terug op aarde. Dit is waarom het is omgeven met complotten

Een experimenteel Amerikaans ruimtevaartuig is zondag na bijna twee jaar geland in Florida. Het toestel ging bij het dalen door de geluidsbarrière, waardoor Florida ’s ochtends werd opgeschrikt door een harde knal.

De onbemande Boeing X-37B bracht ruim 700 dagen door in een baan om de aarde, waar het een geheime missie uitvoerde.

Het vaartuig, dat eruitziet als een kleine versie van een spaceshuttle, landde bij het Kennedy Space Center. De X-37B bracht niet eerder zoveel tijd door in de ruimte.

Spionage

Het ruimtevaartuig van de luchtmacht is met raadsels omgeven. Het leger stelde in een e-mail dat de toestellen onder meer kunnen worden gebruikt om ruimtetechnologie te testen.

De activiteiten van de missie zijn topgeheim. Het mysterieuze karakter van de missie is voer voor complottheoretici.

Volgens sommigen is er sprake van spionage. Zo zou X-37B geavanceerde apparatuur aan boord hebben om gevoelige geopolitieke regio’s zoals het Midden-Oosten in de gaten te houden.

Zwijgt in alle talen

Anderen beweren dat de Verenigde Staten met de X-37B satellieten kunnen uitschakelen. Wat het vaartuig ook uitvoert daar hoog in de lucht, de Amerikaanse luchtmacht zwijgt in alle talen.

De VS beschikt over twee van deze onbemande toestellen, die zijn ondergebracht in hangars die ooit werden gebruikt voor spaceshuttles.

De luchtmacht is van plan later dit jaar weer een X-37B de ruimte in te sturen.

ENOCH: THE STORY OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL FALLEN ANGELS

Angels make frequent appearances in the holy scriptures and continue to play an active role in the popular imagination. While many people believe that these beings are either symbolic or supernatural figures, others believe that angels could be extra-terrestrials. The Book of Enoch gives an intriguing view on this controversial position. 

While most people associated angels with the Christian faith, they are actually a mainstay of many ancient cultural traditions. Many of the earliest known civilizations in the Near East, including the ancient Sumerians, the Babylonians, and the Egyptians had their own narratives surrounding angelic beings. These beings tended to manifest themselves as beings with wings which served as the agents of higher gods. The higher gods utilized the angels as messengers and watchers who would visit the Earthly dimension at their behest.

One of the most explicit descriptions of angels serving in this capacity comes from the Book of Enoch in the Old Testament. The Book of Enoch describes a vast number of angels settling on the planet Earth who set out to teach Enoch various disciplines. These include meteorology, astronomy, and metalwork. This is a fairly unusual story, and it appears to chime with a theory known as the Ancient Astronaut theory. Many people believe that the ancients were lent a helping hand in the progression of human civilization on account of the fact that a number of ancient monuments and texts display extraordinary sophistication which is completely unexplained by the cultural and social circumstances of historical record. Could the Book of Enoch be confirmation of this controversial theory?

The Book of Enoch also describes ‘fallen angels’ arriving on Mount Hermon with the intention of living on Earth and assuming power over the planet. These angels are said to have eventually integrated into human society and even interbreeding with human beings to create human-angel hybrids. It was this action that incited the wrath of God.

For many people, this seems to indicate that human beings were unwittingly placed in the center of a power struggle between two distinct alien breeds – the masterful creator gods and their former servants who sought to take their own path with regards to the planet Earth. If this is the case, then it should be of some concern to human beings currently living on this planet. Both the Old and the New Testament make frequent references to a battle which is to come between opposing forces of good and evil. Could it be the case that this battle will involve an almighty struggle between two separate species of powerful alien beings?
