A new video has appeared of what was claimed to be a cigar-shaped ship hovering over Paris, France, which UFO watchers say is potentially the same object spotted over China and Australia several years ago.
It is unclear if the object -- which the video shows beaming light down on the ground -- is a hoax. The video was posted to YouTube by Secureteam10, a conspiracy channel that often posts UFO sightings.
Tyler Glockner, who runs Secureteam10, said on the video that he was unable to find the original recording of the video and wondererd aloud whether it could be a hoax.

MEMBERS of an alleged top secret team of scientists and US military bosses who experimented on crashed flying saucers and dead aliens have been "named."
The 12 late scientists and officials who have been named as belonging the alleged Majestic-12 group.
The identities of the late officials are revealed in what conspiracists say is a leaked document from the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) from the Eighties.
Yesterday, Express.co.uk revealed how the 47-page alleged "above top secret" file had been released and contained claims the 1947 RoswellUFO crash did happen, dead aliens were found and there was a major cover up to hide the truth.
The document is said to have been given to Heather Wade, host of US late-night online paranormal radio show Midnight in the Desert, from a known source who has not been named.
Many UFO experts have branded the document fake, but the release has set the conspiracy theory world on fire, with others convinced it could be genuine.
The document claims a highly secretive team of top scientists, government officials and military leaders - all now dead - was set up in the wake of the Roswell incident to investigate the "captured flying sauce remains" and "four dead aliens" and assess the risk to the planet of "visiting aliens".
The document claims the group was called Majestic 12 and set up on the orders of President Harry S Truman, in the wake of Roswell.

Alleged DIA leaked report
It identifies these people as the original members:
*Lloyd Viel Berkner, an American physicist and engineer, who died in 1967 aged 62, and had investigated the Earth's atmosphere.
*Detlev Wulf Bronk, another US scientist, educator, who died aged 78 in 1975, and was recognised for developing biophysics as an established science.
*Vannevar Bush, an American engineer and inventor and science, who led the US Office of Scientific Research and Development during World War II.
It carried out military research and development. He died aged 84 in 1974.
*Donald Howard Menzel, who died in 1976 aged 75, who was one of the first theoretical astronomers and astrophysicists in the US, and discovered the physical properties of the solar chromosphere, the chemistry of stars, the atmosphere of Mars, and the nature of gaseous nebulae.
*Hoyt Sanford Vandenberg, a US Air Force general, its second Chief of Staff, and second Director of Central Intelligence, who died in 1954 aged 54.
*Nathan Farragut Twining, who died in 1982 aged 84, who was Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force from 1953 until 1957, and during the Roswell UFO incident.
*Sidney William Souers, who died in 1973 aged 80, and was a former director of central intelligence, and the executive secretary of the National Security Council, before becoming special consultant to the President on military and foreign affairs from 1950 to 1953.
*Robert Miller Montague, a Lieutenant General in the US Army who was deputy commander of Fort Bliss, Texas and commander of the Sandia Missile Base in New Mexico, who died in 1958 aged 58.
*James Vincent Forrestal, who died in 1949 aged 57, and was the first United States Secretary of Defense.
*Gordon Gray, who died in 1982 aged 73, who was a defense and national security government official.
*Roscoe Henry Hillenkoetter, the third director of the post-World War II United States Central Intelligence Group (CIG), who died aged 85 in 1982.
*Jerome Clarke Hunsaker, who died aged 98 in 1984, and was from 1941 to 1956 chairman of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics.
Part of the document, a four page report, said to have been prepared on January 8, 1989, claims to be a preliminary briefing about Majestic 12.
The report says the group had the remains of seven crashed flying saucers and 27 aliens.
Seasoned UFO expert and nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman is investigating the authenticity of the document and is said to believe it could be genuine.
The Paridigm Research Group (PRG) which tries to pressure the White House to disclose documents about UFOs believes the report could be genuine, but accepts it could also be fake.

Elon Musk has put his Mars-colonization vision to paper, and you can read it for free.
SpaceX's billionaire founder and CEO just published the plan, which he unveiled at a conference in Mexico in September 2016, in the journal New Space. Musk's commentary, titled "Making Humanity a Multi-Planetary Species," is available for free on New Space's website through July 5.
"In my view, publishing this paper provides not only an opportunity for the spacefaring community to read the SpaceX vision in print with all the charts in context, but also serves as a valuable archival reference for future studies and planning," New Space editor-in-chief (and former NASA "Mars czar") Scott Hubbard wrote in a statement. Musk's Mars vision centers on a reusable rocket-and-spaceship combo that he's dubbed the Interplanetary Transport System (ITS). Both the booster and the spaceship will be powered by SpaceX's Raptor engine, still in development, which Musk said will be about three times stronger than the Merlin engines that power the company's Falcon 9 rocket.
The booster, with its 42 Raptors, will be the most powerful rocket in history, by far. It will be capable of launching 300 metric tons (330 tons) to low Earth orbit (LEO), or 550 metric tons (600 tons) in an expendable variant, Musk said. For comparison, NASA's famous Saturn V moon rocket, the current record holder, could loft "just" 135 metric tons (150 tons).
ITS rockets will launch the spaceships to Earth orbit, then come back down for a pinpoint landing about 20 minutes later. And "pinpoint" is not hyperbole: "With the addition of maneuvering thrusters, we think we can actually put the booster right back on the launch stand," Musk wrote in his New Space paper, citing SpaceX's increasingly precise Falcon 9 first-stage landings .
The ITS boosters will launch many spaceships and fuel tankers (which will top up the spaceships' tanks) to orbit over the course of their operational lives; the rockets will be designed to fly about 1,000 times each, Musk wrote. The spaceships, meanwhile, will hang out in orbit, and then depart en masse when Earth and Mars align favorably. This happens once every 26 months.
Eventually, Musk wrote, he envisions 1,000 or more ITS spaceships, each carrying 100 or more people, leaving Earth orbit during each of these Mars windows. The architecture could conceivably get 1 million people to Mars within the next 50 to 100 years, he has said.
The ships would also fly back from Mars, using their nine Raptor engines and methane-based propellant that was manufactured on the Red Planet. Each ITS ship would probably be able to make 12 to 15 deep-space journeys during its operational life, Musk wrote, and each fuel tanker could likely fly to Earth orbit 100 or so times.
The ITS' reusability is key to making Mars colonization affordable . This reusability — combined with other measures, such as fueling the spaceships in Earth orbit and making propellant on Mars — could bring the price of a Red Planet trip down to $200,000 or so per person, from an estimated $10 billion using conventional spaceflight systems, Musk said.
ITS spaceships could begin flying to Mars about 10 years from now, if everything goes well, Musk added. But he acknowledged that success is far from guaranteed.
"There is a huge amount of risk. It is going to cost a lot," Musk wrote. "There is a good chance we will not succeed, but we are going to do our best and try to make as much progress as possible."
And SpaceX has a history of overcoming long odds. When Musk founded the company in 2002, he wrote, "I thought we had maybe a 10 percent chance of doing anything — of even getting a rocket to orbit, let alone getting beyond that and taking Mars seriously."

One of the more intriguing unsolved modern mysteries is the fast radio burst (FRB) phenomenon. Over the last several years, radio telescopes on Earth have been detecting more and more very brief, very powerful radio signals which originate from deep space. While astronomers have been able to locate the source of several of these signals, the exact mechanisms of their production remain a mystery. Of course, it has been speculated that they might be attempts at communication made by advanced alien races, or even that they might be a form of alien spacecraft propulsion for deep-space travel.
While it would be nice if these signals were indeed being beamed at us by an alien race, there are possible natural explanations.
Whatever these radio bursts happen to be, astronomers believe that similar signals might indeed be used for communication across vast distances of space. While we haven’t determined that any of them might be a collect call from deep space, one astrophysicist has just published a study which sought to determine whether such signals could indeed encrypt information and if our squishy little human brains could decode them. Turns out we can – with the help of social media, naturally. It is the weird future, after all.
And why shouldn’t an entire species communicate directly to another? Because not everyone has access the internet yet, that’s why.
This crowdsourced experiment was conceived by Rene Heller from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, who encrypted seven different pages of information into a simulated alien fast radio burst signal, which can be heard here. The signal’s electromagnetic frequency was set to 452.13 MHz, a figure derived from multiplying pi by the emission frequency of neutral hydrogen atoms. That same frequency was used in Carl Sagan’s Contact, as the values are commonly found throughout the universe. Heller released the message to social media and challenged the public to decrypt it, calling his experiment the “SETI Decrypt Challenge.” The following rules were attached:
Suppose a telescope on Earth receives a series of pulses from a fixed, unresolved source beyond the solar system. The source is a star about 50 light years from Earth. The pulses are in the form of short/long signals and they are received in a very narrow band around an electromagnetic frequency of 452.12919 MHz. A computer algorithm identifies the artificial nature of the pulses. It turns out the pulses carry a message. The pulses signify binary digits. Suppose further that you were, by whatsoever reason, put in charge of decoding this message.
If you successfully decrypted the message, you should be able to answer the following questions: What is the typical body height of our interstellar counterparts? What is their typical lifetime? What is the scale of the devices they used to submit their message? Since when have they been communicating interstellar? What kind of object do they live on? How old is their stellar system?
Within just a month, Heller was greeted with a high number of successful decryptions, particularly after the challenge was posted to Reddit. 300 complete replies were received, out of which 66 contain correct solutions, half of which appeared to be derived independently without help. The majority of the correct responses were submitted from the two coasts of the United States and western Europe. When decrypted, the message consists of a binary code which specifies dimensions of a grid. When the message’s data are plugged into the grid, it creates a picture:
The images are composed of 0s and 1s and explain basic facts about an “alien” race.
The image shows the first 10,000 prime numbers, a grey alien, a sine wave, the exomoon Kepler 22b, and an image of the Square Kilometer Array telescope, chosen to simulate the device used by the “alien civilization” which sent the message. The message is similar to the Arecibo message, a radio signal designed in part by Carl Sagan which was beamed from Earth to a nearby star cluster in 1974. The experiment’s author is hopeful that these results demonstrate the power of social media in decrypting possible future messages from alien civilizations. That is, if governments decide to let this kind of discovery to be made public at all.
In 1977, scientists working on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) recorded an unusually strong radio signal, the origin of which many scientists believe has not been explained. While the most exotic theory is that the signal is a call from ET, a paper published in the Journal of the Washington Academy of Sciences claims the origins of the signal is much more mundane. They think a comet or two caused it. SETI scientists, including the senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, Seth Shostak, and the man who discovered the signal, disagree.

As Shostak puts it in a recent article, the “Wow! Signal” is in the “A-List” of signals recorded by scientists that may potentially have been generated by an intelligent extraterrestrial civilization. It is an exclusive list. Shostak did not mention how long the list is, but it can be argued the “Wow! Signal” is the only signal on that list.
In August of 1977, a signal was captured by a radio telescope called Big Ear at Ohio State University. Upon discovering the signal while reviewing the logs, astronomer Jerry Ehman circled it on the computer printout and wrote “Wow!” off to the side.
The signal was very strong, and according to Shostak, “It had all the characteristics one would anticipate from a signal produced by a deep space transmitter.”
However, despite efforts to capture the signal a second time, it was never heard again.
“So the WOW signal seemed destined to be an enduring mystery of the universe – maybe it really was ET launching a signal in our direction, a whistle that was either very short or very intermittent,” Shostak wrote. “Then again, perhaps it was something else…”
This is where the new paper in the Journal of the Washington Academy of Sciences comes in. The paper is authored by Antonio Paris and Evan Davies. Interestingly, Paris, an astronomer at St. Petersburg College in Florida, also has an interest in UFOs. In fact, he was been an investigator for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), and has lectured on the topic at several UFO conferences.

In the paper, the authors argue that the signal likely came from a comet or two that was not catalogued at the time the signal was detected. That would explain why Ehrman and others would not have known suspected the comet(s).
“Neutral hydrogen is well known for generating radio static at a frequency of 1420 MHz, which is indeed the spot on the dial where the Big Ear overheard the signal,” admits Shostak. However, he continues, “The comet hypothesis, in my opinion, doesn’t work. To begin with, there’s the slightly dismaying fact that I’ve never heard of anyone measuring strong hydrogen signals from a comet, and I’ve spent a lot of time on radio telescopes tuned to 1420 MHz.”
Shostak also points out that there were two receivers that examined the area of the sky the signal was received. The second sweep, which was only 70 seconds later.
“But the WOW signal only appeared in one of the feeds,” Shostak continued. “Of course, that could be explained if the signal simply went off the air in the time between observation by the first and second feed. Terrestrial interference could be compatible with this requirement, easy peasy. And a signal from impatient aliens could too.”
Comets, on the other hand, do not turn on and off. They move slowly, and should have been detected in the second feed.
Ehman recently told Live Science in a recent interview that he does not buy the comet theory for the same reasons Shostak presented.
“We should have seen the source come through twice in about 3 minutes: one response lasting 72 seconds and a second response for 72 seconds following within about a minute and a half,” Ehman told Live Science. “We didn’t see the second one.”

Paris admits this is an issue. However, he suggested to Live Science that the telescope might not have detected the signal in the second feed due to an error with the telescope itself.
“There is some data out there to suggest the issue is at the telescope end and not the phenomenon itself,”Paris told Live Science.
So the mystery continues. However, Paris has not finished making his case. He plans to continue to observe comets and the reasons behind why they create the signals.
“There have been a handful of studies, but I suspect we are the first to specifically build a 10-meter radio telescope to specifically look at this type of solar system body,” he said.
Cyborgs – hybrid creatures forged from human beings and machines – have gradually been making the transition from science fiction staple into reality in the past decades.
Primarily, the use of robotic technology in human beings is used as a medical tool in the present day but as the technology improves it may be employed for a whole host of different reasons. This has led leading philosophers to suggest that the time has come to discuss the ethical implications of creating cyborg humans in the near future.
Most people do not tend to think of prosthetic limbs as the type of robotics which lead to the creation of cyborg humans. However, the latest technology in this field is far more advanced than the majority of people suspect. Carbon fiber and titanium prosthetic limbs are used as a matter of routine in the modern age and the vast majority of false limbs which are fitted today are fully functional.
Prosthetic limbs have become so adept and dexterous recently that experts are even beginning to discuss whether they are more effective than organic limbs. Researchers have also created phenomenal robotic hands which can be triggered by the brain of the patients. Some of the most recent robotic hands produced even have a sense of touch.
Recently, robotic engineers have progressed beyond artificial limbs and have begun to dabble with the idea of implanting human beings with microchips. In recent months, there has been news that a company in Sweden has begun to implant its employees with microchips so that they can perform tasks such as opening doors with the wave of a hand. Even more ambitiously, the Tesla CEO Elon Musk is in the process of developing a so-called neural lace which will eventually be capable of connecting the human mind to electronic devices such as computers and smartphones.
Humanity is becoming more and more ambitious with its plans to push the boundaries of science and technology, particularly regarding space exploration. For many individuals, developing effective cyborg technology could be an essential step towards achieving these dreams. However, others believe that before cyborg technology goes too far that it is incredibly important to discuss the moral and legal questions posed by this next stage of human history.
Ethical philosophers are already beginning to question various aspects of life with cyborg human beings such as establishing safeguards to ensure that human beings cannot be hacked. There are also concerns that there could be troubling implications for the world’s military forces who might use the new developments in cyborg technology to create humans with exoskeletons.
It is very important to consider these questions now to make sure that this next stage in human development is a success and not a complete disaster

It looks like Earth and Mars have a lot more in common that what was first thought. This conclusion has been reached after NASA revealed photographs taken of Mars in an exploration that has lasted 12 years. The photographs were taken using the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and it shows that Mars actually looks a lot like Earth.
The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has captured many thousands of images and sent them back to scientists on Earth. The vibrant photographs have managed to capture everything from mineral hills on Mars to dust storms. The landscapes revealed in the photographs look like canyons or red deserts on Earth, which led to NASA saying that Earth and Mars has a lot in common.
The MRO was used by NASA so that scientists could get a much better understanding of the materials, dust, subsurface water and the weather on Mars. The website of NASA has been providing some stunning photos of Mars, including a mesa of 0.4 kilometers, the surface of Mars covered with materials that are of fine grain and which hide the bedrock and the Saheki Crater, which is 84 kilometers across.
The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter of NASA was first launched on 12 August 2005, and it went on a search to try to find evidence of water and whether or not it has persisted on Mars surface over a long period of time. Other missions to Mars have revealed that water flows over the surface of Mars, but it has been something of a mystery as to whether the water had been around for long enough to have provided a habitat for life on Mars.
It was said that the studies would help scientists to find out if there were deposits of minerals forming in the water over a length of time, along with detecting shorelines from ancient lakes and seas. NASA said that one of the cameras on the Orbiter was the biggest to have ever flown on a mission to a planet.

In 1997, a UFO was sighted over Phoenix, Arizona that was reportedly seen by close to 20,000 people. The event, known in ufologist circles (they're a thing) as the Phoenix Lights Incident, has been thoroughly investigated and while official explanations have been offered, there is still a huge amount of skepticism surrounding the event and whether or not it was actually a UFO or - as the US Air Force claims - weather balloons.
One of the people who called in the sighting was an unidentified pilot who described seeing six bright lights over Phoenix, Arizona from his aircraft as he was travelling towards the runway. The air-traffic controller replied that he was showing no other aircraft on his radar - which only added to the mystery surrounding the event.
For years, ufologists have wondered who that unidentified pilot was - and it was Kurt Russell. According to Kurt, he never mentioned the word "alien", or "UFO", and merely called it in when his son, Oliver Hudson, pointed out the strange-looking lights.

Heather Wade insists she has got her hands on an “ultra top secret” report confirming the fabled alien encounter in the desert of New Mexico, USA, was real, The Sun reported.
Wade says she got the US Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) document from an unnamed source, according to The Express.
She claims the dossier details how the UFO came down on July 2 or 3, 1947.
Chilean Navy releases video of mysterious flying object
Wade — who hosts a late night online radio show focusing on the paranormal — claims the documents describe how four decomposing alien bodies were found two miles from the crash site a week later.
The radio host said she passed the report on to Stanton Friedman — a nuclear physicist who is also a Roswell believer and investigator.
All four aliens died in the crash.

The supposed government report states: “Aerial reconnaissance discovered that four small human-like beings had apparently ejected from the craft at some point before it exploded. “These had fallen to earth at least two miles east of the crash site where the wreckage was located.
“All of the four alien crew members were dead and badly decomposed.”
A statement on the website for her radio show, Midnight in the Desert, reads: “Heather Wade received documents last night from a trusted source.
“She immediately had Stanton Friedman take a look at these documents who said, ‘I have never seen anything like this, this is new MJ12 information.’
“Stanton Friedman is going to continue examining these documents for authenticity, but at this time we can find no evidence of forgery.”

NORAD have responded to a freedom of information request from a Canadian UFO researcher and have confirmed that the joint American-Canadian RADAR operation has tracked almost 2000 UFOs over the past five years. This means that approximately 400 UFOs are spotted flying in the skies over North America every single year. In addition to that, NORAD has revealed that 75 of these UFOs have been intercepted in the recent past.
Intercepts are when officials from NORAD alert fighter jet companies to scramble and attempt to identify the unknown flying craft that has been caught on the radar. The information suggests that this has happened seventy-five times in the past five years but the military organization refused to release the information about the operations or whether they had identified the UFOs which flagged up on the radar.
The refusal of NORAD to release further details about the operations and what they have discovered flying in the skies over North America has been a source of intense frustration to the Canadian UFO Research Victor Viggiani who filed the freedom of information request. He claims that representatives from NORAD have told him that ‘unknown track reports’ are classified as top secret and cannot be released into the public domain for issues relating to ‘national security’ and espionage.
For Viggiani, the claims that the information cannot be released because of national security is little more than a smokescreen to cover up what the Canadian and the United States militaries have discovered as a result of UFO detection over the continent. While some may claim that the UFO reports may be nothing more than excursions by foreign aircraft, Viggiani is convinced that NORAD officials have discovered proof of extraterrestrial visitors to Earth in the course of their duties. µ
Viggiani claimed that when he received the NORAD documents with regards to the intercepts and sightings, he was threatened with indictment if he ever released the file. However, he chose to ignore the warning to bring the truth to the public. “I dare the US government to charge me, ” he said defiantly.

“It looks like it’s moving with the clouds,” a woman is heard saying on the video.
The 13-minute YouTube video appears to show an object hovering and disappearing into the clouds near the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which housed an Air Force project that documented alleged UFO and extraterrestrial sightings from 1947 to 1969.
A couple spotted the object as they were watching the sunset from their home, London's Daily Mirror reported Saturday.

There IS life after DEATH: Scientists reveal shock findings from groundbreaking study.
The mystery of death is not to be told. It is something to be experienced. We all know one thing for sure: we are all going to die one day. And when we do die, we may not get the opportunity to come back and explain our experience.
Many religions believe in life after death. It is said the soul goes out of the body to live a new life in the spiritual realm. A wicked person is sent to hell to be tormented by a blazing fire, while a righteous person is sent to heaven to live an eternal and joyful life.
The study is said to be the largest ever medical study into near-death and out-of-body experiences. The study revealed that some awareness may continue even after the brain has shut down completely. A human being is pronounced clinically dead if the heart stops beating and the brain shuts down. The condition can also be called cardiac arrest.
According to the researchers, they spent four years examining more than 2,000 people who suffered cardiac arrests at 15 hospitals in the United Kingdom, the United States and Austria. They found that nearly 40 percent of people who survived their resuscitation, described some kind of awareness during the time when they were clinically dead.
Of the 2,060 cardiac arrest patients studied, 330 survived and of 140 surveyed, 39 percent said they had experienced some kind of awareness while being resuscitated. Although many of them could not recall specific details, some themes emerged. One in five said they had felt an unusual sense of peacefulness, while nearly one third said time had slowed down or speeded up.
Some recalled seeing a bright light; a golden flash or the Sun shining. Others recounted feelings of fear, drowning or being dragged through deep water, 13 percent said they had felt separated from their bodies, and the same number said their senses had been heightened.
A 57-year-old man from Southampton, who was pronounced dead for three minutes, said he left his body entirely, watching his resuscitation from the corner of the room. He was able to accurately recount the actions of the nursing staff and the sound of the machines used in his resuscitation process.
Lead researcher of the study, Dr Sam Parnia said the study accurately revealed that people experience some awareness after death.
Dr Parnia was quoted as saying: “We know the brain can’t function when the heart has stopped beating. But in this case, conscious awareness appears to have continued for up to three minutes into the period when the heart wasn’t beating, even though the brain typically shuts down within 20-30 seconds after the heart has stopped. The man described everything that had happened in the room, but importantly, he heard two bleeps from a machine that makes a noise at three minute intervals. So we could time how long the experience lasted for. He seemed very credible and everything that he said had happened to him had actually happened.”
Dr Parnia also added that many more people may have experiences when they are close to death, but the drugs or sedatives used in the process of resuscitation may stop them remembering.
“Estimates have suggested that millions of people have had vivid experiences in relation to death but the scientific evidence has been ambiguous at best. Many people have assumed that these were hallucinations or illusions but they do seem to corresponded to actual events. And a higher proportion of people may have vivid death experiences, but do not recall them due to the effects of brain injury or sedative drugs on memory circuits. These experiences warrant further investigation,” Dr Parnia said.
Commenting on the study, the editor-in-chief of the journal Resuscitation, Dr Jerry Nolan said Dr Parnia and his colleagues are to be congratulated on the completion of a fascinating study that will open the door to more extensive research into what happens when we die.
It turns out Kurt Russell, or maybe his “Escape from New York” alter ego Snake Plissken, is responsible for phoning in one of the leading UFO conspiracies out there.

Here’s how the conversation went down:
“I was the pilot,” Russell said in the interview. “Oliver and I were flying in; I was flying him to go see his girlfriend. And we were on approach. I saw six lights over the airport in absolute uniform in a V-shape... I was just looking at them and I was coming in, we were maybe a half mile out. [His son] Oliver said, ‘Pa, what are those lights?’ Then I kind of came out of my reverie and I said, ‘I don’t know what they are.’ He said, ‘Are we okay here?’ I said ‘I’m gonna call,’ and I reported it. They said...‘We don’t show anything.’
“I said, ‘Well, okay, I’m gonna declare it’s unidentified, it’s flying and it’s six objects.’ We landed, I taxied, dropped him off, took off and went back to L.A.
“I never said a word, he never said a word. I never thought of it. Two years later, [his wife] Goldie [Hawn] is watching a television show when I came home. And the show is on UFOs...And I’m kind of hearing the TV going. And I stopped and I started watching and it was on that event. And that was the most viewed UFO event, over 20,000 people saw that.
“I’m watching this and I’m feeling like Richard Dreyfuss in ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind.’ I go, ‘What, why do I know this?’ And it’s not clear to me. And finally they said a general aviation pilot reported it on landing.

Here are two new UFO videos that were made in ECETI ranch located at Mount Adams in in Washington. This ranch was formed by alien contactee James Gilliland.
When scientists look for extraterrestrial life, they typically turn their focus upwards, to planets like Mars, moons like Enceladus and exoplanets far beyond our own solar system. But for Laura Rowe, an assistant professor of chemistry at Valparaiso University in Indiana, the search begins in the lab.
In April, a member of Rowe's lab presented work she and her team did in this area of research during the Experimental Biology 2017 meeting in Chicago. Because we couldn't be there to listen, we instead asked Rowe for insight into this fascinating field of inquiry. As part of our One Big Question series we asked: How might we find the building blocks of extraterrestrial life in the lab?
Here's what she had to say:
NASA broadly defines Life as: "A self-sustaining chemical system capable of Darwinian evolution."
In the field of astrobiology the more conservative stance on extraterrestrial life is that it will be carbon based and will have required liquid water to evolve. Living organisms on Earth use a handful of elements to construct larger macromolecules that are fundamental to life as we know it: DNA, RNA, and proteins. All three of these macromolecules are polymeric in nature. This means that they all link together smaller, repeating units (monomers) with different chemical bonds to make large and diverse macromolecules. For DNA and RNA these smaller monomer units are called nucleotides, whereas for proteins these smaller monomeric units are called amino acids.
Therefore, when looking for the building blocks of life in outer space, we would likely be looking for either DNA, RNA, proteins or the smaller building blocks of these large molecules: nucleotides and amino acids.
The "One Big Question" is how might we discover the building blocks of extraterrestrial life in the lab?
If we initially assume (which may or may not be a correct assumption) that extraterrestrial life will have some form of DNA, RNA, or proteins, and thus some form of nucleotides and/or amino acids present, then a first effort in the lab would be to determine if the nucleotides and amino acids that are used for life on our planet would be stable enough to exist in the environmental conditions present on planets and moons that are known to have, or have had, liquid water.

The surface of Mars, for example, is exposed to very high levels of radiation due to its thin atmosphere, while its soil is known to have a considerable amount of perchlorate present. The high energy of the radiation, and the strong oxidizing nature of perchlorate, has a tendency to break chemical bonds that are found in nucleotides and amino acids. Since the evolution of even simple microbial life is believed to have taken hundreds of millions of years, nucleotides and amino acids must be able to resist rapid degradation in the environment for life to have evolved.
There are a limited number of nucleotides (5) and amino acids (20 or 22) that living organisms on Earth use to build DNA, RNA, and proteins. However, there are many more nucleotides and amino acids in existence. Exposing nucleotides and amino acids to the extreme conditions they may be exposed to extraterrestrially and observing their stability, is a good first step to identifying possible extraterrestrial life building blocks in the lab. If an unusual amino acid, or nucleotide, that is not used in life on Earth is found to be much more stable than the "natural" or "proteinogenic" amino acid or nucleotide under these conditions, then it may be a molecule to be on the look-out for during future space exploration.

Expeditions to Mars have given us many specifics of the surface conditions that we can attempt to mimic in the lab to do this; whereas the two other extraterrestrial life hot spots in our Solar System, Europa and Enceladus, have mainly speculative conditions in their subsurface oceans. It is exciting, however, that the Europa Clipper mission has been announced recently, so that we should have much more information about Europa in the next decade.
In order to possibly discover the building blocks of extraterrestrial life in the lab on Earth, we must have some idea of what environmental conditions exist on extraterrestrial bodies with liquid water. If the nucleotides and amino acids that life on Earth use are sufficiently stable when exposed to these conditions, then it is reasonable to assume they may be present in extraterrestrial organisms. If, however, they degrade quickly, then we should look at alternative nucleotide and amino acid structures that may impart a unique stability to the building blocks, or open up the scope of our definition of potential building blocks for extraterrestrial life entirely.

On Earth, life has evolved in surprisingly extreme conditions; extremophile organisms thrive in Antarctic ice, sulfuric hot springs, and even radioactive waste sites. Thus, it is reasonable to assume that if liquid water is present on an extraterrestrial body that contains basic elements, then living organisms could have evolved even under very hostile environmental conditions. However, the exact building blocks and structure of that life could be very different then the building blocks and structure of life on Earth.

The scientific capabilities of other NASA missions such as the Hubble Space Telescope is complemented and extended by the James Webb Space Telescope, which will be the most powerful space telescope ever built.
“From the very first galaxies after the Big Bang, to searching for chemical fingerprints of life on Enceladus, Europa, and exoplanets like TRAPPIST-1e, Webb will be looking at some incredible things in our universe,” said Eric Smith, James Webb Space Telescope Director at NASA Headquarters in Washington.
“With over 2,100 initial observations planned, there is no limit to what we might discover with this incredible telescope,” said Smith.
All of the science areas the telescope is designed to explore, from first light and the assembly of galaxies to the birth of stars and planets will be addressed by the broad spectrum of initial observations.
Targets will range from the solar system’s outer planets such as Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, and icy Kuiper Belt to exoplanets to distant galaxies in the young universe.
“These observations by the teams of people who designed and built the Webb instruments will yield not only amazing science, but will be crucial in putting the observatory through its paces and understanding its many capabilities,” said Ken Sembach, director of the Space Telescope Science Institute in the US.
