Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

'Bezoekje aan ijsreus Neptunus of Uranus is noodzakelijk'

Als we ons zonnestelsel en andere planetenstelsels willen doorgronden, moeten we één van deze ijsreuzen gewoon met een bezoekje vereren.
Dat schrijven onderzoekers in een 529 pagina’s tellend onderzoek dat dieper ingaat op het belang van een missie naar Uranus of Neptunus en tegelijkertijd beschrijft hoe zo’n missie er dan uit zou moeten zien. “Dit onderzoek beargumenteert het belang van het verkennen van minstens één van deze planeten en omgeving, waarin we onder meer verrassend dynamische ijsmanen, ringen en bizarre magnetische velden aantreffen,” stelt onderzoeker Mark Hofstadter.
OVER IJSREUZEN
IJsreuzen zijn planeten die groter zijn dan rotsachtige planeten zoals de aarde, maar kleiner dan gasreuzen, zoals Saturnus en Jupiter. Hoewel de naam anders doet vermoeden is er in de ijsreuzen waarschijnlijk weinig ijs te vinden. Wel vermoeden wetenschappers dat zich onder het dikke wolkendek dat de planeten omringt een vloeibare oceaan bevindt die zo’n 66% van hun massa zou uitmaken. Dankzij die oceaan onderscheiden ijsreuzen zich duidelijk van rotsachtige planeten (die voor zo’n 100% uit gesteente bestaan) en gasreuzen (die voor 85 procent uit gas bestaat). Hoe ijsreuzen ontstaan, weten we niet. En ook veel processen op de manen van ijsreuzen doorgronden we nog niet. Onderzoekers willen daar dolgraag verandering in brengen. Niet alleen omdat ze zo meer te weten kunnen komen over ons zonnestelsel, maar ook omdat veel exoplaneten (planeten rond andere sterren) veel gemeen lijken te hebben met de ijsreuzen in ons zonnestelsel.
Voyager 2 Tot op heden is er maar één ruimtevaartuig geweest dat Neptunus en Uranus – heel kortstondig – van dichtbij heeft bekeken. En dat is Voyager 2. De sonde vloog in 1986 langs Uranus en scheerde drie jaar later langs Neptunus. Maar daarmee zijn nog lang niet alle vragen omtrent deze ijsreuzen beantwoord. “We weten niet hoe deze planeten gevormd zijn en waarom zij en hun manen er zo uitzien,” vertelt onderzoeker Amy Simon. “Er zijn fundamentele aanwijzingen omtrent hoe ons zonnestelsel is gevormd en geëvolueerd is, die we alleen kunnen vinden door één van deze planeten – of bij voorkeur beide – gedetailleerd te bestuderen.”
Orbiter of scheervlucht? Maar hoe zou zo’n missie naar Uranus en/of Neptunus er dan precies uit moeten zien? In hun paper werken de onderzoekers verschillende concept-missies uit. Zo zouden we middels scheervluchten langs de planeten meer over de ijsreuzen te weten kunnen komen. Maar we kunnen er ook voor kiezen om een ruimtesonde in een baan rond de ijsreuzen te plaatsen. Daarnaast kan het ook interessant zijn om een sonde de atmosfeer van Uranus in te sturen en zo meer te weten te komen over de samenstelling van de ijsreus.
Cruciaal Hoe we de ijsreuzen precies gaan verkennen, maakt in feite niet uit. Als we maar gaan. Want dat is echt noodzakelijk, zo benadrukken de onderzoekers. “Verkenning van minstens één ijsreus-systeem is cruciaal als we een beter begrip willen krijgen van het zonnestelsel, exoplanetaire systemen en de totstandkoming en evolutie van planeten beter willen begrijpen,” zo schrijven de onderzoekers.
Het onderzoek naar het belang van het verkennen van de ijsreuzen is uitgevoerd in opdracht van NASA. De Amerikaanse ruimtevaartorganisatie zal de studie in overweging nemen wanneer deze nadenkt over de ruimtemissies die tussen 2022 en 2032 prioriteit moeten krijgen.

Emily was only a few feet away from the beings and believes she was given messages.
One of the most outstanding UFO experiences involving a group of children took place on September 16, 1994. Approximately 60 children between 5 and 12 years old were playing outside their school on the outskirts of the capital of Zimbabwe when they saw a large spaceship and several smaller craft gliding over the scrubland.
The spacecraft landed beside their playground. The children claim that they were approached by beings from the ships and that the whole encounter lasted about 15 minutes.
Emily Trim was one of those children. As a young student at the Ariel primary school near the town of Ruwa in Zimbabwe, the incident was made famous when it was covered by the BBC, who interviewed the children soon after the incident. Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John Mack traveled to the school to interview the children and recorded their extraordinary accounts.
To this day, she says, the incident still affects her. Standing only a few feet away from the beings she believes that she was given messages.
She has been painting and drawing mysterious and beautiful images she feels are a manifestation of the messages she received.
In this video, Emily Trim speaks publicly of the first time at the Alien Cosmic Expo 2015. Her emotional testimony conveys the depth of her personally moving experience as a child who was face to face with an extraterrestrial being.

“I was a witness from the Ruwa, Zimbabwe event. I was just over 8 years old when this happened. I was born in Canada. I’m from a family of five. I have a brother and a sister. My brother was also at the school during the time of the event. My parents are missionaries for the Salvation Army. That’s why we were down in Ruwa Zimbabwe. We were in Zaire before that, then went to Zim, and we all attended Ariel, which was a lovely school. I’m really thankful for that experience, putting aside the UFO phenomenon. It was a beautiful place to live and to be.
So, on that day … I can only speak about my perspective and where I was. Every child was in a different area of the playground. But it was recess and broad daylight … and we were just doing our normal thing … playing games. There were boundary lines along the property and one of the games my friend and I used to play was hopping on the boundary lines.
Then we heard a high pitch frequency sound, and — out side perspective — we saw a flash and a craft.
And it’s really hard to describe time at this point, so I don’t know how long this all happened. All I can tell you is that two beings were hopping along beside Lisa and I. And … they were curious. They weren’t touching the ground [inaudible] … they were almost like mimicking us.
All of a sudden they were in front of us. I describe them as being about arm’s reach. And we were frozen. Telepathic images started going across my face … communication through the eyes … that’s all I can really describe it as. It was just image after image after image.
One of the other girls standing beside me, she got more communication about the environment, and, for me, mine was more technology uses and [inaudible] uses of technology.

I’ll just … I’ll never forget that day.
Question from the audience: Have you had any other experiences with the same being?
Emily: I don’t know if it’s the exact same being, but what I can say … Yes.
[Emily describing one of her paintings:] So when we were talking about the time (of the event, which) I depicted here. I don’t know when I’m going to realize what I’m drawing. It just comes out. For me, it’s like an energy that’s all around us that’s causing time to stop at that point. [inaudible, including description of the feeling of being frozen.]
Question from the audience: Could you explain what the other beings that have been coming to her, as far as you know, look like.
Emily: You mean when I’m having experiences? [Yes.] I’ll just say that they can alter perception so they can change to make you almost feel a bit more comfortable with what you’ve seen. The last encounter there were grays. A face went back and forth between a being and lion.

On June 21, 2017, a couple witnessed a very strange event in the sky over Montrose in Colorado.
Witness states: We were on our front deck watching the sunset and sky when my husband saw bright lights coming from the west I ran into the house to get my phone and my husband ran into the house to get his canon camera we took pictures of the 1st one.
I took video with my phone while he took still pictures a second one came from the same direction we have pictures and video, best description as a phoenix or angelic form.
Body long silver jet type or cylinder, with a possible nose pointing downward. Wings that were curved upward 80 degrees towards atmosphere that were fiery orange very bright and a triangular transparent veil that looked translucent seemingly hanging off left wing with bright orbs, we are not sure if it circled our city twice or there were 2 one following the other.
It was cloudy on June 21, 2017 and they both went northeast from the west into the clouds but not together they were separate in timing, possibly they were separate entities or one that was circling city could not see them circle because of the overcast in the northeast.
We couldn’t visually see the shape until we downloaded photos on the computer. We were excited and nervous and we never have seen a machine that could even look like anything of this world this is not the 1st time we have seen UFO's out here, though this one was different then the last 2 we saw that were together hovering over Burger King about 4 years ago. NASA Archive Unveils Transparent UFO next to Apollo 17 Spacecraft
Apollo 17 was the final mission of NASA's Apollo program. Launched at 12:33 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on December 7, 1972, with a crew made up of Commander Eugene Cernan, Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans, and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt.
During their mission to the moon the astronauts captured many images which are stored in NASA’s Apollo 17 Image Library.
While most of the pictures were taken on the lunar surface, the astronauts took also images through the windows of their spacecraft in space.
After viewing many images Michael from The Kepler Telescope Channel found an image showing what appears to be a partially transparent alien spacecraft next to the Apollo spacecraft.
Michael said: I don't normally get interested in these objects, normally they turn out to be ice particles or thermal blankets or something like that, but this NASA release from the 1972 Apollo 17 mission seems to show something otherworldly.

Rond de supervulkaan in Yellowstone National Park hebben zich sinds 12 juni meer dan 400 aardbevingen voorgedaan. Doemdenkers hebben het er maar druk mee, maar onderzoekers zeggen dat er nog geen reden is tot paniek.
Het gaat om het grootste aanval aardbevingen bij Yellowstone in een enkele week in vijf jaar tijd, aldus wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Utah die de vulkaan in de gaten houden.
Zwermen
Toch ligt het aantal lager dan de zwermen aardbevingen in 2002, 2004, 2008 en 2010, legden de onderzoekers uit.
De zwaarste beving werd gemeten op 15 juni. Toen werd het gebied getroffen door een beving met een kracht van 4,5 op de schaal van Richter.
Tussen 12 en 19 juni zijn er in totaal 464 aardschokken geweest.
Toekomst
Hoewel experts van de Amerikaanse geologische dienst USGS zeggen dat het risico dat de supervulkaan uitbarst vrij laag is, kan hij in de toekomst opnieuw gaan uitbarsten.
In de afgelopen 2,1 miljoen jaar zijn er drie grote uitbarstingen geweest in Yellowstone.
De laatste deed zich 640.000 jaar geleden voor. Sindsdien zijn er een aantal kleinere uitbarstingen geweest.
Zwermen aardbevingen komen geregeld voor in Yellowstone en zijn verantwoordelijk voor ongeveer 50 procent van de seismische activiteit in het gebied, schrijft de Universiteit van Utah in een verklaring.
We schreven enkele dagen geleden een artikel over hoe Disclosure waarschijnlijk is begonnen in Zuid Amerika.
Dit, omdat er in dit land regelmatig opnames opduiken van UFO’s die alleen te omschrijven zijn als “out of this world”, letterlijk.
Er doen zich niet alleen in Zuid Amerika de laatste weken hele bijzondere gebeurtenissen voor, ook elders in de wereld gebeuren vreemde dingen met onbekende objecten in de lucht.
Regelmatig zijn er verhalen van mensen die een UFO waarnemen, meestal een soort orb, die regelmatig terugkeert op dezelfde lokatie, zoals hier het geval is.
Dat schijnt dan weer een heel ander verschijnsel te zijn dan de voorvallen in Zuid Amerika, waar ook vandaag een bijzondere waarneming is.
Enkele dagen geleden zijn een aantal jonge Argentijnse jongens die ’s morgens rond vijf uur voor de kust aan het vissen zijn op zee.
Plots zien ze een vreemd licht verschijnen en één van hen maakt daar een foto van.
Je ziet de maan, de weerspiegeling van de zee en ergens daartussen het vreemde licht.
Deze foto is later verstrekt door de jongens, want bij de video-opname die ze hebben gemaakt, concentreren ze zich volledig op het vreemde licht.
Die opname is werkelijk spectaculair te noemen, want op een gegeven moment verschijnt het volgende diamantvormige ruimteschip.
De door de jongens gemaakt video volgt hierna en je hoort de verbaasde uitroepen wanneer ze dit bijzondere object filmen.
De hier gefilmde UFO is vrijwel identiek aan die die in 2007 werden gefilmd in het Engelse Wiltshire.
De Australische Megan Heazlewild was op bezoek in Wiltshire omdat ze een groot liefhebber is van graancirkels en zij filmde de volgende objecten.
Zij maakte die avond de onderstaande video in de buurt van Silbury Hill. Naast Megan die deze avond filmde, waren er meer mensen getuige van dit voorval.
De objecten die in 2007 bij de graancirkels in Wiltshire verschenen, zijn dezelfde als die nu opduiken voor de kust van Argentinië.
Alhoewel ook aardbewoners beschikken over UFO technologie, lijkt het hier toch echt om buitenaardsen te gaan. Mede vanwege het feit dat exact dezelfde objecten zijn gesignaleerd boven de Engelse graancirkels en we de geheime aardse ruimtevloot niet zo snel boodschappen zien geven aan de mensheid via graancirkels. Aardlingen gebruiken hun technieken meer voor het zaaien van dood en verderf, in tegenstelling tot (sommige) buitenaardsen die ogenschijnlijk vreedzame bedoelingen hebben.
Maar, met deze hele bijzondere opname uit Zuid Amerika is het bewijs toch wel geleverd dat buitenaardsen echt ook hier op aarde zijn.
The UK government has finally released several UFO documents they have been promising to release for years. The UK government claimed to have released all of their UFO files in 2013. However, in 2014, found 18 others they neglected to include in the original bunch. Although the files are available as of today, they cannot be accessed online. They can only be seen by visiting their office in Kew, a few miles outside of London. This means it may be a few days until we know what is in the files.

The news of the release of the files was posted by online radio station KGRA. An email had been sent from the UK National Archives to Kerry McClure in response to an inquiry about the files. McClure forwarded the response, which includes a link to information about the files, to KGRA. KRGA posted the contents of the email earlier today. Although the UK National Archives has claimed they will be releasing 18 files, only 15 files are represented in the link provided to McClure.
The files may never have been discovered, if it were not for the efforts of John Burroughs. He witnessed an amazing UFO event while in the US Air Force stationed at a base in the UK in 1980. He had discovered the existence of several UFO files he wanted to review while investigating his UFO incident. The UK government said they were releasing all of their UFO files and he would have to wait until they were released with the rest of the UFO documents which were being made public in batches.

Once all of the UFO files were supposedly released, the documents he was looking for where not present. He then asked the UK government to release them, but was not taken seriously. Then, a UK citizen who had read about Burroughs’ efforts made a request for the files as well. He received a response. He was told the files had been overlooked and would be released in about 9 months. That was several years ago. Even a member of the House of Lords made inquiries about why it was taking so long for the files to be released.
Suffice it to say, there has been much anticipation to see these files, but for those who do not live near London, it may be a few more days until we know more about these files.

We received an email from Nick Pope, former UK Ministry of Defence UFO investigator. He writes: “The National Archives decided not to go with a proactive media launch this time around, probably because of the previous adverse publicity about the delay in making these files available – especially as there are still three to come, so they can’t even say this concludes the release project. They essentially shifted from seeing this as a potential good news story about open government and freedom of information to regarding it as a potentially bad news story about delay and bureaucracy. Unfortunately, the perception will be that they slipped this out and hoped people wouldn’t notice until some time afterwards, making media coverage less likely, as journalists tend not to like beginning a story by saying that something interesting happened last month.”
Pope suggests that with enough pressure from the media and/or public, perhaps the UK National Archives will release the files online for free as they did with the previous UFO files. Albeit, the files were only free for a limited time. Unlike the U.S., the British government maintains copyright over government documents and charges for them.

No matter where you are in the world, there sure are different places to visit and see that will be completely different from where one lives or was born at. Canada is no exception. However, there has been another shocking footage released of yet another supernatural entity spotted: UFOs. However, this time, the look and feel of the UFO is completely shell-shocking: It looks like a flying turtle shell!
The weather is getting weirder. Along with what is spotted in our skies. The weird thing is that anything that is spotted "floating" in the sky is classified as a UFO. Is this really a UFO? Many might think so, even though it hardly looks like one. However, most of our imaginations of a UFO is based on illustrations that were thought up, not actually really seen. Ken Rice, the photographer, was out in the Marsh in the Canadian city of Oshawa taking photographs of nature when he accidentally shot these pictures of the rumored "UFO".
It has since been a controversial topic that has many people guessing just exactly what it was he saw in the sky that day. Ken Rice himself is not a believer in extraterrestrials but has admitted that nothing comes to mind if he tries to label the object he saw. At first, he thought it might have been a turkey vulture. However, it was "hovering" in the air for a moment, which is pretty impossible to do. In an interview with Durham Region newspaper, he said that "it kind of hovered, sat there for a minute and then it took off." He then thought it might have been a balloon or kite, but that is not possible either as he was completely sure he was alone in the marsh at that point of time. Thus, he could only conclude that the anomaly was a UFO - Unidentified flying object.
Typically people look for UFOs in the skies; however, in the future UFOs may be found roaming the seas. This is if a boat company from Italy has anything to do with it.

Luca Solla and Pierpaolo Lazzarini from Jet Capsule are the designers and they said that the UFO craft is the perfect answer for anyone who wants to live in a house that floats and which can move slowly around the world. The craft has been designed in a flying saucer shape and is around 322 square feet. It includes a kitchen area and living area and below is a bathroom and bedroom. To take full advantage of the spectacular panoramic views there are large windows both below and above the water.
UFO HOME IS PACKED WITH LATEST IN TECHNOLOGY
The craft has a hydro jet underneath and this takes power from the solar panels which are on the top of the roof and propels the craft anywhere the owner wants to travel. Along with this water and wind turbines offer additional power. A water generator collects rain or seawater and turns it into water that is drinkable. Around the upper part of the craft, above the level of water, there are rings where people can grow their own vegetables. The upper portion also has a deck for sitting and relaxing and taking in the views.
As one might expect, life is slow on the UFO shaped home as the maximum speed is just four miles an hour. However, with its own roof garden and lounging area and with it being packed with comfortable facilities there really is no need to rush around the world. Jet Capsule said that people should not be concerned about inclement weather or choppy seas as the UFO home comes with an elastic anchor system and this ensures that is it stable in even the stormiest of weather.
UFO CRAFT PRICED AT AROUND $200,000 WHEN IT REACHES MARKET
The UFO home is going to be affordable according to the company as they said that when it reaches the market it will be in the price range of around $200,000, which costs less than an average houseboat. At the moment the company is looking for investors so that they can make the first prototype.
The UFO home would essentially be like taking a vacation every day, imagine traveling around the Caribbean, moving at your own speed, anchoring in crystal clear blue waters and traveling slowly from island to island in the comfort of your own home, utter bliss.

THE CALVINE UFO PHOTO
The saga began on 4 August 1990 once two members of the general public out walking within the neck of the woods of Calvine, close to Pitlochry, in Scotland, quick-sighted a huge, diamond-shaped, aluminum apparition. The unidentified flying object was nearly stationary and hovered mutely for what the witnesses believed was many minutes, before fast away vertically at large speed.Throughout the observation, a military craft, believed to be a Harrier, was seen. However, it had been clear if it was escorting the craft, making an attempt to intercept it, or whether or not the pilot was ever tuned into it in the least.
The men, whose identities are not any longer known, allegedly took the camera to the Scottish Daily Record Newspaper, WHO successively allegedly sent the images and also the negatives to the MoD.

HOLLYWOOD icon Kurt Russell claims HE was the pilot who stumbled upon on a notorious UFO sighting that has had experts baffled for decades.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Kurt made the startling revelation that he witnessed the Phoenix Lights sightings in 1997 on BBC’s The One Show.

The sightings in Phoenix, Arizona, and Sonara, Mexico, were reported by thousands who saw a huge array of lights organised into a triangle.
And 66-year-old Kurt says he was one of the anonymous pilots – flying with stepson Oliver – who offered testimony on the sightings.
He said: “I was the pilot. [I] saw six lights over the airport in absolute uniform in a V-shape.
“I was just looking at them and I was coming in, we were maybe a half mile out.
“I kind of came out of my reverie and I said, ‘I don’t know what they are.’ [Oliver] said, ‘Are we okay here?’
“I said ‘I’m gonna call,’ and I reported it. They said…‘We don’t show anything.’”
It was only several years later when watching TV with wife Goldie Hawn that he released his account had been investigated by UFO sleuths.
The actor continued: “I began feeling like Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
“I go, ‘What, why do I know this?’ And it’s not clear to me. And finally they said a general aviation pilot reported it on landing.”
The US Air Force has since claimed that one of the groups of lights was a squadron of A-10 Warthog jets flying in formation.

Witnesses described how they moved in a huge V-shaped formation, producing no sound before disappearing and reappearing suddenly.
Many have claimed the bizarre spectacle is proof of extra-terrestrial life.
UFO expert Scott Brando told the Express: “The Phoenix lights were explained with two different events.
“The first was the flight of five planes in V-shape formation. This is what the witness saw in that day.
“The second event was the launch of military flares over Estrella mountains.”
Massachusetts-born Russell is a FAA-licensed private pilot.
Kurt Russell has revealed he was the pilot who reported the “Phoenix Lights” UFO sighting two decades ago.
In a recent interview with the BBC, the 66-year-old “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” star said he’d been flying his longtime partner Goldie Hawn‘s son Oliver Hudson to see his girlfriend when they both witnessed lights in a triangular formation seemingly passing over Phoenix on March 13, 1997. The lights were also witnessed by thousands of people between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. that night.
“I saw six lights over the airport in an absolute uniform, in a ‘v’ shape, and … I was just looking at them,” Russell said.
Prompted by Hudson, he reported the lights to ground control, which said nothing was showing on radar.
“Well, okay, I’m going to declare it’s unidentified, it’s flying, and it’s six objects,” the actor responded.
Russell and Hudson didn’t mention the sighting again and forgot about it until two years later when the actor found Hawn watching a show about UFOs that featured the Phoenix Lights incident.
“I’d never thought about it since then,” the actor said as he realized, while watching the show, that he’d been the pilot who reported the sighting.
“The fascinating part to me is that it literally just went out of my head … had I not seen that show, I’d have never thought of it again,” he said.

Three days before he was supposed to meet with a leading UFO researcher, New York Times bestselling author Steve Alten claims he saw something whirling in the sky above Wellington.
When he examined the odd lights more closely, he says he saw about a dozen saucer-shaped objects with amber lights on the bottoms flying from south to north along State Road 7. They were going in staggered pairs moving “whisper quiet” about 1,000 feet in the air.
Alten is convinced he saw a series of UFOs that night in 2013 and has been researching it ever since, culminating in a recently released fiction book called “Undisclosed.” His research on aliens and UFOs has cemented his the idea that extraterrestrials exist.
“Seeing these things for myself takes the belief to a different level because now there is no question about it,” he said at his home in Stonehaven Estates, across the street from Wellington.
Alten is known for a series of books centered around the fictitious survival of the megalodon, a giant prehistoric shark, inspiring a movie in the works called Meg. He calls his latest novel “faction” instead of “fiction” because it’s based on what he believes are facts. The cover has flying saucers above a farm with the tagline “we’ve been lied to…”
Allen describes what he saw that night:
“There were eight to 12 of them flying in staggered pairs, approaching from the south less than a thousand feet above State Road 7. They were far too silent and smooth to be helicopters and they were definitely not planes. As they came closer and passed almost directly overhead we could see the outline of a… well, their saucer-shaped vessels. By this time I had parked the car (my wife) and I just stood and watched them, the two of us incredulous as they moved north through a cloudless night sky… until, pair by pair, they simply faded into the ether.”
Alten met with Steven Green, a former medical doctor and current “UFOlogist,” who has been working to bring to light what he thinks is a government conspiracy to coverup UFOs and extraterrestrial visits. Alten helped Greer with a recent book called “Unacknowledged” that claims to expose the secrets about aliens.
Alten said he thinks more than a dozen UFOs crashed or landed starting with one of the more famous incidents in Roswell, N.M., 1947. After decades of speculation, the U.S. military claims the incident was a nuclear test surveillance balloon that crashed on a ranch near the town. Many, however, remain skeptical of that report.
Alten said he believes government officials and the fossil fuel industry are covering up details.
“The truth is out there, but first it’s going to really piss you off,” he said.
There have been hundreds of “UFO sightings” over the years including a famous image of a “flying saucer” over the 2012 London Olympic games, which turned out to be a Goodyear blimp.
“It’s very common for things like the moon, space debris, reflection from station windows, the spacecraft structure itself or light from Earth to appear as artifacts in photos and videos from the orbiting laboratory,” the statement reads.
Alten is still unflinching in his beliefs, but he is moving onto other projects.
The popular author has lived in the Wellington area for more than 15 years. He wrote his first book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror in 1997, which is set in an alternate world where a giant prehistoric shark, the megalodon, survives. A science fiction horror film called Meg, based on his novel, will be released by Warner Bros. in 2018.
His books start with an idea followed by character development, months to years of research and then finally writing. He has written more than a dozen books, including eight from the Meg series.
“Writing is like a muscle,” he said. “The more you use it, the better you get.”

Authors Cheryl Costa and Linda Miller Costa have compiled a reference book, "The UFO Sightings Desk Reference: United States of America 2001-2015", to document a phenomenon that until now has never had solid published statistics.
This project was an effort to bring some scientific thinking and big data analysis to the UFO sighting issue.

The reference is targeted to a broad range of researchers, as well as UFO enthusiasts and people curious about UFOs. The reference includes sightings from this century only. The book is the first national UFO statistics book ever compiled, with a national summary, state-by-state summaries, data at the county level, and various reported shapes. The authors compiled information on sightings by state and county over time, giving interested parties a single-point reference for statistical analysis of UFO sightings.
Cheryl Costa is a columnist with the Syracuse New Times in Syracuse, NY, retired aerospace industry information security professional, and a combat veteran who served in both the U.S. Air Force and Navy. Linda Miller Costa, M.L.S, worked in scientific research and publishing at The National Academies of Sciences and the Environmental Protection Agency. She is currently employed by LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY.
“This project was an effort to bring some scientific thinking and big data analysis to the UFO sighting issue,” said Cheryl Costa. “We utilized the databases of the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) and the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). We also supplemented the combined databases with nationwide county information for what we call a “stable” reporting period, 2001-2015, during which reporting has been much more reliable and well-documented.” The Costas have received queries from professionals who seek data to complement their research in fields as diverse as Economics and Financial studies.
National Geographic conducted a national poll several years ago on UFO reporting and public beliefs. 36% were firm believers that UFOs had an explanation as alien phenomena, 42% were undecided, and 17% didn’t care or believe. 70% believe the government is hiding what it knows.

Do the Costas believe these reports are all exotic off-world craft? “No, not by a long shot,” said Costa. “These are simply sincere eyewitness accounts. Most people in the U.S. don’t realize that rather than going down, sightings nationwide have actually gone up significantly, from almost 3,500 in 2001 to nearly 12,000 in 2015. When you see the huge numbers, nationally and regionally, it’s evident that something is going on. Even if only a tiny percentage is genuine off-world craft, then that’s a huge story. We call it ‘The greatest story never told.’”

A recent Freedom of Information request featured in a UK newspaper states that British police officers responded to eight UFO reports in the last two years.
While no evidence was found by the officers, police were dispatched to emergency calls in Pendle Hill, Burnley, Fleetwood, Lytham St Annes, and several other places in 2015. In March of 2016, officers were also sent to investigate a suspected alien abduction in Accrington, and they were also notified that a UFO landed in Marsden Park, Nelson.

Police encountering UFOs while on duty is not a strictly British phenomenon. Many cases in the United States, and across the world, have the fuzz engaging with strange lights in the sky. In August of 2014, police officers were dispatched to a call in Lower Paxton, Pennsylvania, where a witness watched a UFO for 20 minutes. The officers arrived at the scene, contacted the local airport and military base, and made an official report that the object they saw that night was totally out of the ordinary.
In regards to the UK police sightings, while it might seem like a waste of money and resources to send police officers to a UFO sighting, there is some justification to entertain such calls.
A police spokesman stated that officers are only deployed when the emergency call operator feels that the sighting or event may pose any risk, threat or harm to people in the area.
Sometimes these calls are not what they may seem so a potential UFO call could be a suspicious light or suspicious movement that could mean any number of things and we would assess and deploy officers if required, or there could be a concern for the caller’s welfare.
Whether it is fact or fiction, strange lights in the sky seem to be pretty common, but actually having police officers show up to a 911 call concerning a UFO is definitely rare.

A UFO is sighted somewhere in the world every six minutes.
But there could be even more seen, with many sightings and experiences going unreported, according to close encounter therapist Mary Rodwell.
She never strongly believed in extraterrestrial life herself, but when a family experiencing paranormal activity came to her some 20 years ago, they changed her convictions.
Ms Rodwell has now counselled more than 3000 people who claim to have been abducted and said the stories she has been told have many commonalities.

“People experience the same anomalies, they wake in the morning after having a strange night and feel like they were taken somewhere else,” she said.
“Others have strange marks on their body or a bloody nose, with no idea of how they got them.”
Ms Rodwell, Australian Close Encounter Resource Network director, said these experiences had nothing to do with believers.
“It often happens to people who have no interest in UFOs or aliens and my clients are anybody from lawyers, doctors, nurses to pilots, police, housewives and children,” she said.
One of Ms Rodwell’s practises is hypnosis, for people to discover “missing time”.
Missing time is when you move from one point to another, with no recollection of how you got there.

“Clients often find out they have interacted with extraterrestrial life,” she said.
“Children learn things on the craft and they talk about complex things they shouldn’t know about like black holes.”
Ms Rodwell said extraterrestrial life could be confused for ghosts and other paranormal beings.
She believes they aren’t necessarily something to fear and said some were healers.
Ms Rodwell said she treated a Victorian woman in her 60s with chronic back pain.
She was told she would end up wheelchair-bound and only had morphine for relief.
“After she had a levitating experience, her condition was gone, she is no longer on medication,” Ms Rodwell said.
“I did hypnosis and we discovered she went onto a craft and was healed.
“Now she’s almost 70 and has more energy than her children.
“Part of her mission has been to prove to her family and partner that this is real, they find it difficult to believe her.”
Ms Rodwell said many were closed-minded when it came to the possibility of other intelligence and some refused to report their experiences at the risk of sounding “crazy”.
“After people have experiences their whole life is transformed,” she said.
“They are less materialistic and get involved with healing and caring for the planet.”
After 20 years of studying extraterrestrial life, Ms Rodwell said she had come to understand how common experiences are.
“People need to come out of the space closet,” she said.

DISAPPEARANCE OF FREDERICK VALENTICH
“The thing is just orbiting on top of me.”
That was one of the last things 20-year-old pilot Frederick Valentich said before disappearing into thin air, with no trace of oil or metal on land or in sea.
He was flying over the Bass Strait in October 1978, when he called air traffic control to find out more about the aircraft flying just above him.
But air traffic control did not see a blip, except for Valentich, on the radar.
“What type of aircraft is it?” air traffic control asked.
Valentich replied, “I cannot affirm, it is four bright — it seems to me like landing lights”.
The pilot was at 4500 feet and said the “long-shaped” aircraft was playing some sort of a game.
“He’s flying over me two, three times, with speeds I cannot identify,” he told air traffic control.
Valentich then says the aircraft is orbiting above him, and he’s orbiting with it.
“It’s got a green light and sort of metallic,” he said.
Air traffic control attempted to get more details about the aircraft and Valentich cut in on the radio “it is hovering and it is not an aircraft”.
Valentich went silent and 17 seconds later an unidentified, metallic sound seeped through the radio transmission. He was never heard from again.
Almost 40 years on, a scrap of metal from his plane still hasn’t been recovered and it’s as if he disappeared from the face of the earth.

KELLY CAHILL ABDUCTION
The 1993 abduction of Kelly Cahill was actually mentioned on the first new episode of The X-Files.
Ms Cahill was driving home with her husband in Dandenong, Victoria, when a craft flew overhead.
She claims they lost an hour of time and she was rushed to hospital with stomach pains after discovering a small triangle abrasion on her body.
Ms Cahill had no interest in extraterrestrial life and as she drove home with her partner, she thought she saw a bright blimp.
She has recounted her experience in a number of interviews, and said as their vehicle neared closer to the brightness, the lights began to separate into a row of round, orange lights.
“It appeared like there were silhouettes standing in these round, orange circles, like people,” she said in one interview.
The craft then flew away from the field it was sitting in, and Ms Cahill said further down the road they met a bright light, which was like a wall across the road.
Next thing she remembered was driving on the usual dark road, arguing with her husband.
Weeks later, she had recollections of getting out of the car and walking towards the craft.
She said dark beings began to approach her.
“This energy went through me,” she said.
“It was a low level frequency that came in waves, so dense I could physically feel it.
“That absolutely terrified me, I can’t explain the horror I felt and I just began screaming and the minute I did, the eyes on these things lit up and they came charging across the field.”
She said she was lifted off her feet and thrown back and when she sat up, she couldn’t see anything.
She then developed the triangle on her body, and extraterrestrial experts researching Ms Cahill’s case found there were three other people who stopped their cars that night, who describe the same experience as Ms Cahill.
To this day she still doesn’t know what happened to her.

THE KNOWLES FAMILY
Extraterrestrial life experts say the Knowles family case is one of the most significant close encounters in history.
Faye Knowles was heading to Perth along the Nullarbor Plain in January 1998.
She was with her three sons Patrick, 24, Sean, 21, and Wayne, 18.
The road was deserted at the time and Sean was driving, with his older brother beside him.
Ahead of them was a bright light and Sean decided to chase it.
The light was shaped like an egg and was moving back and forth just above the road.
Sean swerved to miss the object and continued driving.
The egg was now following them and they started to feel the car being lifted off the road.
The mother stuck her arm out the window and felt something soft, rubbery and hot, her arm was then covered in a black dust.
The voices of everybody in the car then became distorted, their talking had slowed and Patrick said after the experience it was as if his brains were being sucked out.
The car then thudded back onto the road and the back tyre burst.
The Adelaide Advertiser reports the family hid in a bush for 30 minutes before heading to the police station.
Ceduna Sergeant Fred Longley said the family was distressed, according to the Adelaide Advertiser.
“They were in a terrible state — even though it was five hours after the incident. Something happened out there. Their car, even after being driven all that way, still had black ash — or dust — over it. Even on the inside,” he said.
NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter normally loops around the red planet in celestial solitude, but on June 5, its existence became a bit less lonely.
That’s because the craft spotted a NASA comrade, the Curiosity Mars rover. Curiosity was navigating rocky and sandy terrain between Mount Sharp — a peak within the planet’s Gale Crater, which may be a dry lake — and the Vera Rubin Ridge.
Curiosity is heading to the ridge to analyze outcrops upon which the iron oxide hematite has been spotted from orbit. The rover probably couldn’t tell that the orbiter’s High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera was keeping watch over it. Ah, the tragic beauty of outer space.
Here’s an image the orbiter captured of Curiosity. HiRISE takes pictures using only a few colors — red, blue-green, and infrared — in order to expose details on Mars’s surface, so the rover appears bluer than it actually is. Curiosity is about nine feet wide and ten feet long.
That little blue dot is Curiosity.

Look up, Curiosity!! Look UP!
A NASA press release notes that the orbiter glimpses Curiosity “about every three months,” and that the images it takes in these instances help scientists “monitor the surrounding features for changes such as dune migration or erosion.” In other words, the photos help the agency ensure that the rover is on an appropriate path.
Does the orbiter look forward to these encounters to get through the long months alone?
Curiosity’s exploration of Mount Sharp may reveal more information about what Mars was like in its early history. The mountain has layers that “record environmental conditions from different times,” says the press release. Curiosity has already found evidence that wet environments once existed in Gale Crater, and it’s possible that these could have hosted microbial life.

Australia's greatest aviation mystery. Frederick Valentich was a 20 year old pilot who vanished along with his light airplane, somewhere over Bass Strait one Tuesday evening in 1978.
No trace has ever been recovered of pilot or aircraft. But what deepens the mystery is what Valentich reported seeing from his plane, in communications with Melbourne air traffic control just minutes before he disappeared forever.
“With the passage of more than 50 years since my incident in Minot and 70 years since the incident in Roswell, NM, there can be no ethical, moral or critical reason to keep the secret of humanity any longer and my other colleagues agree thereby.”

Here’s another one of those old-is-news-again stories that keeps people suspicious of what governments may be hiding about UFOs. On December 6, 1966, the Minot Daily News in Minot, North Dakota, carried a front page story about recent UFO sightings in the area, especially around the Minot Air Force Base, home of a number of nuclear missiles poised to be launched if the Cold War heated up. That story is back on the front page again 50 years later with the release of It Never Happened, Volume 1, a tell-mostly-all-before-I-die memoir of the incident by Captain David D Schindele, a Minuteman I intercontinental ballistic missile launch crew commander at the base on that day. Schindele claims that nothing more was reported about the UFO sightings because the Air Force ordered everyone there to never in their lives speak about what happened next … the unexplained change in status of 10 ICBMs to ‘off-alert’ – meaning that they could not be launched.
“I remember that when we were relieved the next morning and arrived topside, I attempted to query the Flight Security Controller, who told me he could not speak about the incident. It was then that my commander also informed me that he had received word, during my rest break below, that we were to never speak about the incident.”
Schindele kept silent until 2010, when he first revealed his experiences to Robert Hastings, author of UFOs & Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites. Why did Schindele finally disobey that order?
“During that time in Minot, many of us experienced unworldly incidents at Minuteman facilities but we were all individually instructed to keep silent. We never realized at the time that others among us were also experiencing incidents, but now the truth is becoming known. About 35 years after my Minot incident and learning about an identical incident experienced by another missileer (Capt. Robert Salas) connected to Malmstrom AFB in Montana, which was during the same general timeframe as my incident, I then contemplated coming forth with the ‘truth’.”

These old “missileers” liked to get together to reminisce and commiserate and it seems that Schindele and Salas discovered they had something more than their service time in common. Schindele found additional officers from the base who would admit that they were individually ordered “to keep our ‘lips zipped’” but many took the secret to their graves and more refuse to disobey the order to this day.
This is ‘old news’ in that there have been many reports of UFOs at nuclear missile sights and nuclear plants around the world, ranging from UFO activity at the plant where plutonium was processed for the first atomic bomb to UFO sightings at nuclear plants in France to documents from Russia indicating similar unexplained missile shutdowns in the Soviet Union after UFO sightings.
It’s ‘new news’ that eyewitness David Schindele put his experiences in a book and, as the title indicates, has more to tell. Is he doing it for the money?
“From the beginning, I’ve been conflicted with the goal of bringing truth to as many people as possible, while having no appetite for bringing attention to myself or receiving monetary benefit. But I also realize the fallacy in that.”
Schindele says he will donate proceeds from the book to the Seattle Chapter of the Air Force Association where he still meets with fellow veterans.
Are the claims in the book true? If so, will the government release any supporting documents or will the book suddenly go ‘off-alert’ too?

Verbazing
“We hebben een hele belangrijke missie hier in Peru,” zei professor Konstantin Korotkov van de ITMO University in Rusland.
“Ik ben hier naartoe gekomen vanwege deze groep wetenschappers, professionals en journalisten,” voegde hij toe.
Toen het lichaam uit de kist werd gehaald, was iedereen stil van verbazing, aldus dr. Korotkov.
Nazcalijnen
De mummie is ontdekt in de nabijheid van de Nazcalijnen, enorme geogliefen die in de Peruaanse Nazcawoestijn zijn gevonden. De grootste figuren zijn tot wel 370 meter lang.
De tientallen figuren van dieren, honderden geometrische vormen en duizenden lijnen zijn in het woestijnzand lang bewaard gebleven.
