Thursday’s 5.8-magnitude earthquake in western Montana was the strongest to hit the state in 60 years, and it quickly raised fears that the nearby Yellowstone supervolcano had awoken from its long slumber. But Montana residents can rest easy: While the Yellowstone volcano is active, a common earthquake is unlikely to have an effect on this ancient cauldron of superheated rock.

Still, local fears are understandable: The temblor struck early on the morning of July 6, some 230 miles from Yellowstone National Park, and was accompanied by at least 10 lesser quakes. It was the region’s strongest earthquake in over a decade, but although the shaking startled residents, scientists quickly determined that it didn’t represent the ominous rumblings of an awakening supervolcano. The U.S. Geological Survey’s seismic sensors immediately identified the quake’s culprits, which were slipping faults — fractures in the Earth’s crust — and not a threatening reservoir of pressurized magma, waiting to explode out of the ground.

Scientists, however, certainly believe that the massive Yellowstone volcano, whose rim measures 30 miles long by 45 miles wide, has a catastrophic potential far greater than anything mankind has ever experienced before. It’s just not likely to reveal it anytime soon.

Quakes as intense as the one Montana just experienced are unsettling, but this earthly rousing is geologically commonplace. Yellowstone National Park experiences between 1,000 and 3,000 earthquakes each year, revealing an active volcanic world beneath one of America’s most popular national park destinations. The park’s heat-propelled geysers and dangerous thermal pools also hint at the hot magma brewing below.

But all that activity does not portend an eruption, large or small. Though scientists will never rule out the possibility of an eruption entirely, decades of everyday monitoring have revealed no signs of a looming eruption. According to the Yellowstone National Park’s website:

Another caldera-forming eruption is theoretically possible, but it is very unlikely in the next thousand or even 10,000 years. Scientists have also found no indication of an imminent smaller eruption of lava.

Signs of volcanism at or around Yellowstone, the park notes, should be expected:

As at many caldera systems around the world, small earthquakes, ground uplift and subsidence, and gas releases at Yellowstone are commonplace events and do not reflect impending eruptions.

If an eruption was imminent, scientists expect the buildup to be more extreme, something that would be detectable for weeks or even years. This would include massive deformations of the land around the park (think abruptly formed canyons) and a continued onslaught of earthquake swarms, perhaps jolting the area each day.

Lava last gushed out of the Yellowstone supervolcano around 70,000 years ago, and in the last two million years, scientists believe that three “major” volcanic eruptions occurred. One of these, the Island Park super-eruption, left a telltale blanket of volcanic rock in the area about two million years ago, and scientists estimate that this event produced 2,500 times more ash than the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption. This geologically puny eruption, it should be noted, leveled a forest, tossed trees around like toothpicks, blew the top off a mountain, caused over a billion dollars in damage, and dumped ash onto 11 U.S. states and five Canadian provinces.

The Stormy Reason Tonight’s Full Moon is the "Thunder Moon"

This moon has actually been gifted several names.

Early Sunday morning, a full moon will take over the night sky, along with a clear glimpse of Saturn nearby. The Thunder Moon with be completely full at 12:07 a.m. Eastern time on Sunday, when the Earth is directly between the Sun and the Moon, allowing for its full luminosity. As is typical of a summer full moon, it will be visible above the horizon for a shorter time than in winter months. This summer full moon will grace us for around 10 hours.

Why It’s Called the “Thunder Moon”

The names we use for full moons come from Indigenous titles given to each one hundreds of years ago. The names tend to correspond to natural characteristics of the season and can carry spiritual significance. April’s Pink Moon was named after the pink wildflower known as phlox, which blooms around the same time as the moon phase.

This moon has actually been gifted several names. The Thunder Moon comes from a charmingly obvious point of inspiration — summer is a time of constant thunderstorms around much of the U.S. Algonquins also called it the Full Buck Moon; at this time of year a male deer’s antlers are in full growth mode. The Tlingit, in the Pacific Northwest, referred to it as the Salmon Moon.

Best Spots to See It

The best views of the moon will be where it’s highest in the sky — in this case the southern U.S. will get a prime-time view. In Miami, the Thunder Moon’s altitude will reach 48 degrees above the horizon, making it one of the best places to see it. New Yorkers will get a decent view, with the Thunder Moon reaching a maximum altitude of 29.3 degrees. On the opposite side of the world, Australia will get the least optimal perspective, with the full moon beginning to rise about three hours after its full phase has already occurred, at 2:07 p.m. in Sydney.

If you’re fortunate enough to see the full moon at night, hopefully it won’t be too stormy to get a good view. If the evening lives up to this moon’s namesake, don’t lose hope: a near-full moon will be visible on Monday as well.

A resident from Glendale, California took an image of a B1 bomber while doing a flyby at rose bowl in Pasadena.

Although the event occurred in 2012, when looking the image on his computer again, he noticed two unknown flying objects close to the B1 bomber which he did not saw with the naked eye at the time he took the image.

Wondering what the objects might have been he submitted the image to Mufon registered under case 84936 asking ‘What are these two objects, birds, dirt on the lens or maybe UFOs”?

A bizarre video which purports to show a UFO disappearing inside another before they both vanish has left viewers scratching their heads.

The strange film has been seen in the diamond-rich region of Yakutia in Russia's Siberia province, but its origin and location is unclear.

A man called Semyon, who posed the weird footage, said: "An unidentified flying object was seen floating above houses. It had many lights, and also a vapour trail."

He added: "At the end of a short video a diamond-shaped brightly illuminated 'window' opens up above the flying object, which disappears into it."

The diamond-shaped object then vanishes.

"There is no information about when and where it happened," said Semyon.

One theory is that the video is a "performance" involving lasers and a drone.

"Police have not reported calls about strange objects in the sky," reported The Siberian Times.

This is not the first UFO which has appeared over this region.

In October last year, a series of bright green flashes were seen in the sky above Lake Baikal near the Mongolian border.

Initially people believed it was the tail of a International Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) test but this was later disproved and a leading astronomer said it was not a meteorite.

Lilia Mironova from the Astronomical Observatory at Buryat State University in Ulan-Ude told the Siberian Times it was "definitely man-made" as it was travelling too slow to be a meteorite, meteor or comet and if it had hit the ground there would have been a "shockwave".

Exactly 70 years ago, on 8 July 1947, one of the most famous UFO sightings was reported by the press and it captivated both common folks and UFO hunters for years.

It was the Roswell incident where witnesses claimed that the US military had captured an alien aircraft. In reality, or what US military maintained, it was the debris of a surveillance device from a classified operation that was spotted by people.

But many still believe that there was some extra-terrestrial activity that day and that there are aliens out there who have visited Earth from time to time! And not just this, conspiracy theorists are firm...

ASTRONOMERS DISCOVERED A SOLAR SYSTEM WITH 7 EARTH-SIZED PLANETS — AND IT’S THE PERFECT PLACE TO SEARCH FOR ALIEN LIFE

NASA just announced something fantastic! A solar system 39 light years from Earth with seven exoplanets.

But that’s not the best part: Each planet is similar in size to Earth.

This doesn’t mean they are all similar in composition to Earth, nor are they teeming with life, but the possibility is there.

Three of the seven planets live in the habitable zone, where liquid water can exist on large scales — think vast, deep oceans like on Earth. And where there’s water, there’s the potential for life, as we know it.

This planetary system was first discovered in early 2016, but we now know how rich it is in Earth-sized planets. In fact, it holds the record for the most number of Earth-sized planets in a single planetary system.

Do any of these planets harbor life? That’s a question that we’ll have to wait to see.

Most of us haven’t quite realized there is something extraordinary happening.

A few months ago, I freed myself from standard-procedure society. I broke the chains of fear that kept me locked up into the system. Since then, I see the world from a different perspective: the one that everything is going through change and that most of us are unaware of that.

Why is the world changing? In this post, I’ll point out the eight reasons that lead me to believe it.

1. No one can stand the employment model any longer.

We are reaching our limits. People working with big corporations can’t stand their jobs. The lack of purpose knocks on your door as if it came from inside you like a yell of despair.

People want out. They want to drop everything. Take a look on how many people are willing to risk entrepreneurship, people leaving on sabbaticals, people with work-related depression, people in burnout.

2. The entrepreneurship model is also changing.

Over the past few years, with the explosion of startups, thousands of entrepreneurs turned their garages into offices to bring their billion-dollar ideas to life. The vortex of entrepreneurship was to find an investor and get funded — to be funded was like winning the World Cup or the Super Bowl.

But what happens after you get funded?

“Isn’t it absurd that we, 7 billion of us living in the same planet, have grown further apart from each other?”

You get back to being an employee. You may have brought in people not sharing your dream, not in agreement with your purpose, and soon it’s all about the money. The financial end becomes the main driver of your business.

People are suffering with it. Excellent startups began to tumble because the money-seeking model is endless.

A new way to endeavor is needed. Good people are doing it already.

3. The rise of collaboration.

Many people have figured out that it doesn’t make any sense to go on by yourself. Many people have awakened from the “each man for himself” mad mentality.

Stop, take a step back, and think. Isn’t it absurd that we, 7 billion of us living in the same planet, have grown further apart from each other? What sense does it make to turn your back on the thousands, maybe millions, of people living around you in the same city? Every time it crosses my mind, I feel blue.

Fortunately, things are changing. Sharing, collaborative economy concepts are being implemented, and it points towards a new direction. The direction of collaborating, of sharing, of helping, of togetherness.

This is beautiful to watch. It touches me.

4. We are finally figuring out what the Internet is.

The Internet is an incredibly spectacular thing, and only now — after so many years — we are understanding its power. With the Internet, the world is opened, the barriers fall, the separation ends, the togetherness starts, the collaboration explodes, the help emerges.

Some nations saw true revolutions that used the Internet as the primary catalyst, such as the Arab Spring. Here in Brazil, we are just starting to make a better use out of this amazing tool.

Internet is taking down mass control. The big media groups controlling news by how it suits best what they want the message to be and what they want us to read are no longer the sole owners of information. You go after what you want. You bond to whomever you want. You explore whatever you may want to.

With the advent of the Internet, the small are no longer speechless. There is a voice. The anonymous become acknowledged. The world comes together. And then the system may fall.

5. The fall of exaggerated consumerism.

For too long, we’ve been manipulated to consume as much as we possibly can, to buy every new product launched — the newest car, the latest iPhone, the top brands, lots of clothes, shoes, lots and lots and lots of pretty much anything we could our hands on.

Going against the crowd, many people have understood that this is way off. Lowsumerism, slow life and slow food are a few types of action being taken as we speak, pointing out the contradiction of how absurdly we have come to organize ourselves.

“With the advent of the Internet, the small are no longer speechless. There is a voice. The anonymous become acknowledged. The world comes together. “

Fewer people are using cars. Fewer people are overspending. And more people are swapping clothes, buying used goods, sharing assets, cars, apartments, offices.

We don’t need all of that they told us we needed. And this consciousness of new consumerism can take down any company living on the exaggerated end of it.

6. Healthy and organic eating.

We were so crazy we even accepted eating anything! It only needed to taste good, and everything would be alright.

We were so disconnected that companies started to practically poison our food, and we didn’t say anything!

But then some people started waking up, enabling and strengthening healthy and organic eating.

This is only going to get stronger.

But what has this got to do with economy and work? Just about everything, I’d say.

Food production is one of the basic fundamentals of our society. If we change our mindset, our eating habit and our way of consuming, corporations will have to respond and adapt to a new market.

The small farmer is getting back to being relevant to the whole chain of production. People are even growing plants and seeds inside their homes as well.

And that reshapes the whole economy.

7. The awakening of spirituality.

How many friends do you have who practice yoga? What about meditation? Now think back, 10 years ago. How many people did you know by then who practiced these activities?

Spirituality, for too long, was for esoteric folks — those weird-like and mystic people.

But fortunately, this is also changing. We’ve come to the edge of reason and rationality. We were able to realize that, with only our conscious mind, we can’t figure out everything that goes on here. There is something else going on, and I’m sure you want to get hold of that as well.

You want to understand how these things work — how life operates, what happens after death, what is this energy thing people talk about so much, what is quantum physics, how thoughts can be materialized and create our sense of reality, what is coincidence and synchronicity, why meditation works, how it’s possible to cure some ailments using nothing but bare hands, how those alternative therapies not always approved by regular medicine can actually work sometimes.

Companies are providing meditation to their employees. Even schools are teaching the young how to meditate. Think about it.

8 . Un-schooling trends.

Who created this teaching model? Who chose the classes you have to take? Who chose the lessons we learn in history classes? Why didn’t they teach us the truth about other ancient civilizations?
Why should kids follow a certain set of rules? Why should they watch everything in silence? Why should they wear a uniform? What about taking a test to prove what you actually learned?

We developed a model that perpetuates and replicates followers of the system, that breed people into ordinary human beings.

Fortunately, a lot of people are working to rethink that though concepts such as un-schooling, hack-schooling and homeschooling.

Maybe you’ve never thought of that and even may be in shock. But it’s happening.

Silently, people are being woken up and are realizing how crazy it is to live in this society.
Look at all these new actions and try to think everything we were taught so far is normal. I don’t think it is.

There is something extraordinary happening.

In the new science fiction film Arrival, Amy Adams must convince moviegoers that she is a crack linguist named Dr. Louise Banks, tasked with communicating with a many-tentacled alien species called Heptapods. Unsurprisingly, making us believe Amy Adams is really Louise is much easier than convincing us that Heptapods are what aliens might actually look like. Science fiction can make us believe all sorts of things, but there’s a tricky difference between something seeming realistic and being realistic.

At first glance, the aliens of Arrival are more convincing — or at least more complicated — than the extraterrestrials found in most sci-fi movies. But why? The simple answer to this is that they have both tentacles and a complex language. Plus, their language is real, even if it was made specifically for the movie. This means humans could conceivably use the logograms in Arrival to communicate, giving the alien invasion movie a sheen of plausibility.

Much older science fiction dealing with aliens (TV, film, poetry, or prose) often now feels laughable and outdated, because how can you not laugh at those stupid rubber masks in Outer Limits? But, it’s pretty important to remember that these don’t feel dated because of any contemporary advance of real science. As of now, there is no working biological field of study about what intelligent aliens would look actually look like. This isn’t to say the entire field of astrobiology doesn’t exist, it’s just that it’s primarily focused on the extraterrestrial environments where basic organisms could evolve. Wild speculation about whether intelligent aliens would have tentacles or exist as hive minds made out of gas doesn’t figure into real astrobiology.

And in terms of real science, contact with intelligent alien life is improbable enough to be considered practically impossible. The Fermi Paradox states plainly that the reason we don’t see any evidence intelligent alien life in the Milky Way Galaxy is because there isn’t any.

In short: Because intelligent alien bodies have never, ever been seen, there is no real scientific case study on which to base their fictional design. Instead, the presentation of more “realistic” aliens with tentacles in science fiction is probably based on this line of thinking: Life as we know it would have evolved in an ocean. Things that live in the ocean have tentacles and seem “alien” to humans. Ergo, more “realistic” aliens would have space tentacles. And because there’s a legacy of great science fiction — like Octavia Butler’s 1987 novel Dawn — that feature complex aliens with tentacles, the many-tentacled alien motif has become code for more a more “plausible” alien.

Tentacles then, might be somewhat superficial, making the Heptapods really no more “alien” than the pointy-eared Vulcan, Mr. Spock on Star Trek. This isn’t the fault of the Heptapods, or of Mr. Spock. It’s actually just a very real limitation human creativity.

Ted Chiang’s short story “The Story of Your Life” (the basis for Arrival) finds Louise ruminating on the challenges of communicating with the aliens: “The familiar was far away, while the bizarre was close at hand,” she says. And though this is a brilliant line, it belies the opposite tendency of the physical depiction of aliens in most science fiction: We are in fact very “familiar” with the “bizarreness” of aliens who have tentacles.

In his groundbreaking 1997 meta-fictional essay/short story titled “If Lions Could Speak,” noted science fiction writer Paul Park points out that when any writer tries to “describe” an alien, that writer is probably only describing humanity through a lens. As Park writes: “The words we put into an alien mouth, the feeling into an alien heart, the tools into alien hands, what can they be but imitations of our words, feelings, tools?” In both “The Story of Your Life” and Arrival, the Heptapod aliens work in the narrative because there’s something human and relatable about them, despite their exotic appearance. No one loves this movie or short story because of the extreme “alienness” of the Heptapods. Instead, we love it because it has heart.

As Park writes, stories about aliens invariably show us something other than aliens: “When a writer conceives of an alien species, she will extrapolate what human beings would be like if they shared the alien’s morphology.” In his novel Coelestis (published as Celestis in the U.S.) Paul Park explored this as a literary conceit: The only way to write about aliens would be to imagine an alien who had been forced to be human. The story of Coelestis is all about aliens who have been coerced over the years to essentially change their species over to humanity. The novel focuses on a girl named Katherine who originally wasn’t a “girl,” because she’s not actually human. The plot then, focuses on her discovering her “alien” qualities. In this way, the dishonesty of trying to write from a true “alien” point of view is slyly subverted. “You can’t talk about the subject [of aliens] directly, or in a way that makes sense,” Park told Inverse, “Because of the logical problem in the story.”

Practically speaking, a realistic story about alien intelligence defies logic. In Stanislaw Lem’s famous novel Solaris, the basic question of bridging impossible communication gaps ends in sad failure. An intelligent alien ocean conjures up dead people from the memories of a depressed scientists in an attempt to say hello. Clearly, something is lost in translation.

But the impossibility of it all isn’t why we love stories like this. The communication with the Heptapods in Arrival is warm and touching because were are convinced — for a brief moment — that these aliens are real. The attention to detail and the idea that language is so central to the plot cements their “reality” firmly enough to make us care. But Louise’s journey with her Heptopod friends is ultimately — as all good alien stories are — mostly about her. “The alien intelligence becomes part of the landscape, something to be experienced or overcome,” Paul Park said. “It’s something to show us aspects of ourselves.”

When Louise writes the word “human” on her little dry erase board in Arrival, she’s really holding up a mirror to the Heptapods. And even if the reflection in that mirror is covered in tentacles, make no mistake, these aliens are still totally human.

Asking someone if they believe in aliens might seem like an innocent enough question, but it’s actually really loaded. Believing in the possibility of extraterrestrial life existing somewhere is definitely not the same as believing in abductions, flying saucers and government cover-ups. As many UFO fans celebrate the anniversary of Roswell, consider this: how come there have been fewer reports flying saucers and alien abductions in the age of the camera phone?

Many true-believers of little grey aliens consider July 8, 1947 to be a seminal moment, as it was the official date of the so called-“Roswell Incident”. According to lore, alleged real aliens crashed in Roswell, New Mexico and were quickly hidden by the US government. If you believe that alien visitors did in fact crash land on US soil on that date, that’s okay. But consider this: most of the eye-witness accounts of the Roswell crash are not only contradictory, they also don’t provide any kind of scientific body of information for anyone study. In his 1975 essay “The Rocketing Dutchman,” Isaac Asimov elucidated the problem with considering only eye-witness accounts as “proof” of flying saucers. “Eyewitness evidence by a small number of people uncorroborated by any other sort of evidence is worthless,” Dr. Asimov wrote. “There is not a single mystical belief that is not supported by numerous cases of eyewitness evidence.”

As Asimov explained, real scientific inquiry requires impartial data. Of course, devotees and fans of the X-Files who have mistaken it for a series of non-fiction documentaries will tell you that the lack of evidence supports the existence of a cover-up. Asimov calls this kind of circular argumentation “one of the chief delights of the intellectually feeble.”

In recent years, the phenomena of flying saucer sighting and alien abduction accounts have been viewed more soberly as sociological human quirks rather than fuzzy science fake-news. Writer Jack Womack explained that his collection of UFO ephemera, and cheekily titled 2016 book Flying Saucers are Real! were an attempt to catalog the beliefs of those obsessed with outlandish accounts.

“I can study TB without catching it, preferably,” Womack explained. “And I can be a student of the Bible without being a Christian.” Womack’s work on cataloging writing about flying saucer obsessions in the 20th century is exhaustive. Recently, Inverse got back in touch with the author, to discuss this important Roswell anniversary. This led to an important and relevant insight: “Going by both research and empirical observation the number of UFO reports dropped off significantly in the early 21st century,” Womack said. He attributes this, at least partially, to the rise of camera phones.

Which makes sense. Arguably, the ‘80s and ‘90s were the peak of UFO interest in the United States. Proof? The vast majority of famous books published about UFOs and government cover-ups — most notably The Roswell Incident by Charles Berlitz and William Moore — were published in these two decades. And yet, once every regular citizen had a camera on them at all times in their phones, reports of UFO sightings suddenly dropped off. Did the aliens get camera-shy?

In 2012, Joe Nickell and James McGaha outlined their theory of “Roswellian Syndrome” for the Skeptical Inquirer. Nickell and McGaha echo William Gibson’s observation that flying saucer theories are meme-like, insofar as they will experience a media bandwagon period, as well as a period of not being so interesting to the mainstream. They also predict that a reboot of everyone you know suddenly believing in Roswell is coming, too.

Basically, because it hasn’t been hip to believe in abductions for awhile, this can cause these kinds of beliefs to come back with a vengeance. “During a period of submergence, the mythologizing tendency has been at work followed by a reemergence—rather like a new, more virulent strain of a virus.”

Nickell and McGaha point out that contemporary “UFOlogists are always looking for a Holy Grail case to verify their belief.” And the problem there is that Holy Grail could easily exist. If only those abducted by aliens would remember to get a clear image of saucer men captured on their iPhones.

Professor Rich McNally and his colleagues at Harvard University have spent over 10 years researching the psychology of alien abductees, and in particular why it is that some people embrace the identity of “alien abductee.” His research has isolated a number of traits possessed by ‘alien abductees’ each of which he argues contributes to the experiences they recall when ‘being abducted’ and to the desire to cling on to their belief that aliens were responsible for their abduction experiences. Let’s look at each of these five traits in turn.

1. Regularly experiencing sleep paralysis and hallucinations when awakening:

Many people who have reported alien abduction suffer episodes of early morning sleep paralysis. On awakening from this paralysis, their terror gives rise to hallucinations of flashing lights and buzzing sounds. Some experience feelings of ‘floating’ around the room or seeing figures in the room. While many people interpret these post-sleep paralysis experiences as dreaming, some people interpret these experiences as seeing figures, ghosts, or aliens.

2. Tendency to Recall False Memories:

In an elegant set of experimental studies, McNally and colleagues found that individuals who claimed to have been abducted by aliens were prone to what is known as “false memory syndrome.” That is, alien abductees regularly claimed to recall words, items, sentences, etc. in memory tests that they had never actually seen before. If this “false memory” affect can be generalized to autobiographical memories, then individuals who claim to have been abducted by aliens would be twice as likely to “falsely remember” things that had never happened to them than would non-abductees.

3. High levels of “Absorption”:

Alien abductees also score significantly higher than most people on the mental characteristic known as ‘absorption.’ This is a trait related to fantasy proneness, vivid imagery, and susceptibility to hypnosis and suggestion. Because of this it is probably not surprising that many alien abductees recall their experiences under hypnosis, where memories of abduction can be induced through suggestibility—especially if the person leading the hypnosis session asks particularly leading questions about abduction.

4. New Age beliefs:

Being whisked up into space ships by tractor beams or light sources is not something that happens every day—nor is it something that is easily explainable within our existing knowledge of physics. Similarly, being subjected to imaginative medical procedures requires a tendency to accept unusual and non-mainstream ideas. This is also a trait possessed by ‘alien abductees.’ They score highly on measures of magical ideation and endorse New Age ideas that encompass beliefs about alternative medicines and healing, astrology, and fortune telling. Such beliefs would certainly allow the individual to accept things happening to them that would be dismissed by existing scientific knowledge.

5. A familiarity with the cultural narrative of alien abduction:

As a cultural phenomenon, alien abduction has entered folklore and the images and descriptions of aliens and their spacecraft have become familiar to many people. Alien abductees tend to be very familiar with this cultural narrative which is one possible reason why their descriptions of aliens and their spaceships are so similar—being fuelled as they are by sci-fi films and numerous books about aliens and alien abduction.

As Professor McNally points out in a very readable review of his studies on alien abduction, it is still unclear whether all these characteristics are necessary ingredients in the recipe for ‘alien abduction’ or whether some are more necessary than others. Other researchers have also identified further traits that appear to be characteristic of ‘alien abductees’, such as paranoid thinking and weak sexual identity. There is still much more research to do to fully understand the motivations and thinking patterns of individuals who claim to have been abducted by aliens, but as McNally shrewdly points out, these people are not anxious nor depressed, they are not psychotic and do not appear to have any obvious mental health problems. ‘Alien abduction’ experiences often deepen spiritual awareness and give shape to the identities of abductees and provide a basis for their beliefs about the world and the universe. Whether the experiences of abduction were real or not, the experiences and interpretations adopted by ‘alien abductees’ are often psychologically helpful and can be spiritually comforting.

Finally, a note of caution.

All of these studies of ‘alien abductees’ were carried out after they had their abduction ‘experiences’, so it’s difficult to know whether these five traits are consequences of the experience or were—as McNally suggests—factors that led individuals to interpret rather earthly experiences (such as sleep paralysis and hallucinations) as evidence of abduction. And then— perhaps fantastically—can we genuinely rule out the possibility that such traits are implanted in their victims by aliens in invasive medical procedures carried out on alien space ships! My skeptical, scientific mind says probably not—but who knows?!

The discovery is likely to ignite desert speculation among people who citizens who believe Antarctica is home to UFO bases and is concealing the remains of a lost civilisation.

Nevertheless, the scientists who found the structures were extended measured in their assessment of uncovering.

Conspiracy theorists conceive that there could be an elderly city hidden underneath the ice of Continent.

A team from the Université libre de Bruxelle in Belgique said the structures were support of “water conduits and Dregs ridges below the Antarctic ice episode”.

Essentially, this means thither is a large network of tunnels and strip frozen under the ice.

It’s believed these congenital formations contribute to the stability of the ice cap.

The mammoth landmasses “carve deep-seated incisions at the bottom of the ice”, forming “mark”.

These relatively small businessman are are the beginning of wider channels which develop in size “downstream” as the ice go closer to the sea.

In places where the ice is vagrant above the ocean, the thin ice is a “forceless spot when exposed to thaw from the warmer” bathe beneath.

If scientists understand the processes which design these channels, they may be strong to predict the effect climate exchange is having on ice caps.

However, this grave assessment is unlikely to silence the gibber of people who firmly believe Atlantis is skulking beneath the ice.

These UFO sightings are, perhaps, the most convincing because these witnesses are highly respected professionals whom we trust with our lives. These individuals have nothing to gain by putting their careers and reputations on the line reporting bizarre happenings in the skies.

More shocking is the sheer volume of these reported incidents that happen every year. Here’s a list of some of the more notable sightings of alien spacecraft by pilots and astronauts.

1. Astronaut Leroy Chiao Reported a UFO While on a Space Walk with the ISS

In 2005, astronaut Leroy Chiao, commander of the International Space Station, reported a UFO encounter during a space walk. He and a colleague were installing navigation antennas when something unusual caught Chiao’s eye. Below him in the Earth’s atmosphere he saw a line of lights that looked like “an upside-down question mark.”

One non-UFO explanation for Chiao’s sighting offered by skeptics is that Chiao simply saw the bright lights of a fishing boat hundreds of miles below him. Of course, those would have to be some pretty insanely powerful fishing lights to be seen all the way in outer space – and why Chiao didn’t see the lights of other boats all over the ocean has never been explained.

2. Two Turkish Pilots Saw a Mysterious Object – And So Did Citizens Below

Pilots from Turkish Airlines were flying from the Turkish resort town of Bodrum to the country’s largest city, Istanbul. Suddenly, a mysterious green light appeared over the plane. As the pilot later testified,“An unidentified object with green lights passed 2- to 3,000 feet above us. Then it disappeared all of a sudden. We are guessing that it was a UFO.”

The UFO was also reported to be seen around Istanbul’s Silivri district.

The General Directorate of State Airports Authority denied spotting any image that fitted the description of the pilot. Doubters claim that the pilots saw a green laser pointer that was reflecting off a cloud. However, it seems pretty hard to believe pilots would never have seen a laser pointer before – plus, that would have had to be a pretty huge laser pointer to create an effect such as they described.

For the record, pilots do not generally report fleeting flashes of light as UFOs.

3. Reports Claim UFOs Met Astronauts During the Moon Landing

According to unconfirmed reports, both Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin saw UFOs shortly after that historic landing on the moon in Apollo 11 on July 21, 1969. Viewers listening to the broadcast heard Armstrong refer to lights above a crater before his audio feed went dead for a few minutes.

According to former NASA employee Otto Binder, unnamed radio hams with their own VHF-receiving equipment (that bypassed NASA’s broadcasting) picked up the following exchange:

NASA: What’s there?

Apollo 11: These babies are huge, sir! Enormous!
OH MY GOD! You wouldn’t believe it!
I’m telling you there are other spacecraft out there,
Lined up on the far side of the crater edge!
They’re on the moon watching us!

Armstrong and Aldrin have denied the exchange took place, but other have insisted that off the record, the astronauts have admitted to many scientists that they did indeed see something.

4. Mercury Astronaut Slayton Tracked a Flying Saucer

Gordon Cooper wasn’t the only Mercury astronaut to report strange encounters. Deke Slayton revealed in an interview he had seen UFOs in 1951:

I was testing a P-51 fighter in Minneapolis when I spotted this object. I was at about 10,000 feet on a nice, bright, sunny afternoon. I thought the object was a kite, then I realized that no kite is gonna fly that high. As I got closer, it looked like a weather balloon, grey and about three feet in diameter. But as soon as I got behind the darn thing, it didn’t look like a balloon anymore. It looked like a saucer, a disk. About the same time, I realized that it was suddenly going away from me – and there I was, running at about 300 miles per hour. I tracked it for a little way, and then all of a sudden the damn thing just took off. It pulled about a 45-degree climbing turn and accelerated and just flat disappeared.

5. Pilots Reported a Flying Saucer Over Bariloche Airport During a Mysterious Blackout

In 1995, an Aerolineas Argentinas flight landing at Bariloche airport in Argentina reported that it was “buzzed” by a luminous disk moving in a way that defied the laws of physics. According to reports, the pilot was forced to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision. Strangely, at the same time, there was also a mysterious power shortage in Bariloche.

There was also a power outage at the airport. One Argentine newspaper reported the air traffic control personnel as saying, “The control instruments went crazy.”

The UFO was also seen by personnel on the ground, as well as the crew of a police plane flying 600 meters (2,000 ft) above.

Astronomers Observe Strange Quantum Distortion in Empty Space for the First Time Ever

• Vacuum birefringence has been observed by a team of scientists for the first time ever using the European Southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope (VLT).
• The team observed neutron star RX J1856.5-375, which is about 400 light-years from Earth, with just visible light, pushing the limits of existing telescope technology.

A LITTLE LESS STRANGE

Vacuum birefringence is a weird quantum phenomenon that has only ever been observed on an atomic scale. It occurs when a neutron star is surrounded by a magnetic field so intense, it’s given rise to a region in empty space where matter randomly appears and vanishes.

This polarization of light in a vacuum due to strong magnetic fields was first thought to be possible in the 1930s by physicists Werner Heisenberg and Hans Heinrich Euler as a product of the theory of quantum electrodynamics (QED). The theory describes how light and matter interact.

Now, for the first time ever, this strange quantum effect has been observed by a team of scientists from INAF Milan (Italy) and from the University of Zielona Gora (Poland).

Using the European Southern Observatory’s (ESO) Very Large Telescope (VLT), a research team led by Roberto Mignani observed neutron star RX J1856.5-375, which is about 400 light-years from Earth.

Neutron stars are rather dim, yet they are 10 times more massive than our sun. As such, they have extremely strong magnetic fields permeating their surface and surroundings.

Vacuums are supposedly empty spaces (according to Einstein and Newton, at least) where light can pass through uninhibited or unchanged. But, according to QED, space is full of virtual particles continually popping in and out of existence. Very strong magnetic fields, like those surrounding neutron stars, can modify such spaces as vacuums.

Using the FORS2 instrument on the VLT, the researchers were able to observe the neutron star with just visible light, pushing the limits of existing telescope technology.

BETTER TELESCOPES

Studying VLT data on the star, the researchers saw linear polarization occurring at a significant degree of around 16%. This is very likely due to vacuum birefringence in the area surrounding RX J1856.5-375.

“The high linear [polarization] that we measured with the VLT can’t be easily explained by our models unless the vacuum birefringence effects predicted by QED are included,” said Mignani.

Given the limited technology used, Mignani believes that future telescopes can discover more about similar strange quantum effects by studying other neutron stars. “[Polarization] measurements with the next generation of telescopes, such as ESO’s European Extremely Large Telescope (EELT), could play a crucial role in testing QED predictions of vacuum birefringence effects around many more neutron stars,” he said.

“This measurement, made for the first time now in visible light, also paves the way to similar measurements to be carried out at X-ray wavelengths,” researcher Kinwah Wu said.

The study was published by the ESO.

‘SHINING’ FLYING SAUCER UFO FILMED OVER TORONTO’S HARBOURFRONT: ‘BLACK OPS’ HELICOPTER GIVES CHASE [VIDEO]

A young Canadian couple visiting Toronto’s Harbourfront area on Canada Day spotted a mysterious “white shining disk” flying over the area and recorded a video of the sighting. The bright UFO appeared and disappeared several times in the blue sky as if its brightness was fluctuating.

The couple reported the sighting and submitted their video (see below) to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), a U.S.-based organization that documents and investigates reported UFO sightings and related phenomena — including alleged alien sightings — from around the world.

The intriguing video shows a shiny disk- or saucer-shaped UFO that has what looks like a dark central bulge or a cut section in the center, like a vinyl record, according to Open Minds-TV. The mysterious UFO is shown in the video flying over the Harbourfront area and near the iconic CN Tower. It appears and disappears multiple times as it flies across blue, cloudless sky.

According to the witness, he and his girlfriend were celebrating Canada Day at Toronto’s Harbourfront area, when he looked up and noticed the white, shining, disk-shaped UFO in the sky. He drew his girlfriend’s attention to the object flying across the sky and both agreed after a brief debate that it was likely a kite or a drone.

The witness proceeded to film and watch the object (see video below).

However, after watching and filming it for some minutes, the couple began to doubt that it was a kite or a drone. The UFO was very bright. It shone in the sky with a powerful, dazzling glare, and it appeared to spin as it flew across the blue sky in the direction of some white clouds. As the UFO flew across the sky, it appeared and disappeared mysteriously multiple times. Then after it reached the clouds, it disappeared.

The couple stood watching for several minutes after the object disappeared when it reached the clouds. They continued watching the sky, hoping that it would reappear, but they never saw it again until they left the Harbourfront area. However, as they watched the sky, hoping that the strange UFO would reappear, they saw a lone black helicopter flying across the sky in the same direction as the UFO, as if trying to catch up with it.

“I noticed the glaring shininess of the disk…and how it was moving across in a circular motion.”

“We then witnessed a black helicopter and thought maybe it was following it?” the witness said. “I was shocked witnessing this… I was puzzled. My girlfriend was skeptical at first… but realized it might have not been a drone after all.”

MUFON investigators noted that the witnesses could be right that the object was not a drone. Drones, according to the investigators, have appendages that hold the rotors and they move fast through the air unlike the UFO shown in the video which does not appear to have rotors.

Some viewers suggested that the mysterious object might have been a balloon released to float across the sky as part of the ongoing Canada Day celebrations. However, they were unable to account for the ability of the object to appear and disappear. There were no visible clouds, objects or shadows that could have blocked the object from sight.

“Balloons do not appear and disappear as this one does.”

“If the balloon is somehow going into and out of shadows, it might appear as though it is disappearing and reappearing,” the MUFON investigator noted. “However, this balloon is high in the sky and it does not appear anything could cause shadows at that height.”

Although MUFON investigators were unable to explain the mysterious sighting, the organization warned viewers to not jump to the conclusion that the UFO was of extraterrestrial origin. MUFON warned that the “vast majority of UFO sightings turn out to be mundane objects, but once in awhile there are sightings that are much more difficult to explain.”

NOBEL PRIZE WINNING CO-DISCOVERER OF DNA SAYS OUR GENES WERE BROUGHT HERE BY EXTRATERRESTRIALS

Francis Crick (8 June 1916 — 28 July 2004) was an English scientist who was most noted for being a co-discoverer of the structure of the DNA molecule in 1953 alongside James D. Watson.

Francis Crick Watson and Maurice Wilkins were jointly awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize for Physiology for Medicine “for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living material.”

He was clearly a brilliant scientist who unfortunately, like many other brilliant minds who came up with theories that challenged the accepted frameworks at the time, wasn’t given much ‘press.’

In his book published in 1982, Life Itself, he argues that there is no possible way that the DNA molecule could have gotten its start here on Earth and that it had to have come here from somewhere else. Within the mainstream scientific community, the generally accepted theory is that we are the result of a bunch of molecules accidentally bumping into each other, creating life. However, according to Francis, we are the result of what is now known as Directed Panspermia. Crick and a British chemist, Leslie Orgel, published their paper on it in July of 1973.

Their theory explains that, “organisms were deliberately transmitted to earth by intelligent beings on another planet. We conclude that it is possible that life reached the earth in this way, but that the scientific evidence is inadequate at the present time to say anything about the probability. We draw attention to the kinds of evidence that might throw additional light on the topic.”  (source)

As far as Crick’s thoughts on the theory that we are the result of accidentally  bumping into each other, he thinks this was as likely as the assembly of a jumbo jet hit by a hurricane in a junk yard. In other words, he thought the theory held little to no credibility.

When it comes to Crick’s theory, there have been some who expanded upon his work and have actually found evidence of it. Perhaps Crick had some evidence or he was able to connect some dots? After all, theories like this aren’t just born out of nowhere and this gentleman won the Nobel Prize for the study of DNA. Thoughts like this should not be taken lightly and evidence should be examined to see if it’s a plausible hypothesis.

Please keep in mind while reading this article that, although we’ve discovered much, we have yet to identify the biological functions of large portions of our DNA. There is so much mystery wrapped in what could possibly hold the answer to life itself and the origins of the human race.

A few years ago, Chandra Wickramasinghe, the Director of the Buckingham Centre for Astrobiology at the University of Buckingham in the U.K., published a paper regarding their supposed findings of the first-ever evidence of extraterrestrial life found in a celestial body.

At the time, Wickramasinghe pointed out to Huffington Post how, in 1962:

“Hoyle and I pioneered the theory of carbon grains in space to replace the old ice grain theory. This was vehemently resisted by the astronomical community at the outset, but with the dawn of infrared spectroscopy, the ice grain theory gave way to the carbon dust theory. Over a few years, after a great deal of model-fitting, we came to the conclusion that material similar to biomaterial fitted all the available data in astronomy. We considered the possibility that microbiology had a universal character, and no observations in astronomy or new information from biology has provided contrary evidence.If only ideas that are considered orthodox are given support through award of grans or publication opportunities, it is certain that the progress of science will be stifled as it was throughout the middle age.”

English Astronomer Sir Fred Hoyle and Wickramasinghe are considered co-developers of the panspermia theory. In another paper that Wickramasinghe co-authored in 2012 titled “Non-terrestrial origin of life: a transformative research paradigm shift,” he points out that, “For nearly five decades, evidence in favour of a non-terrestrial origin of life and panspermia has accumulated which has not been properly assessed. A point has now been reached that demands the serious attention of biologists to a possibly transformative paradigm shift of the question of the origin of life, with profounds implications across many disciplines.” (source)

It’s interesting to think about, isn’t it? We are indeed, as Author Graham Hancock noted, like species with amnesia. We still don’t completely know where we came from and how we got here.

What About The Fact That We Are Probably Not Alone & That We Are Probably Being Visited? 

“There is a serious possibility that we are being visited and have been visited for many years by people from outer space, from other civilizations. That it behooves us, in case some of these people in the future or now should turn hostile, to find out who they are, where they come from, and what they want. This should be the subject of rigorous scientific investigation and not the subject of ‘rubbishing’ by tabloid newspapers.”  (source)

The quote above comes Lord Admiral Hill-Norton, the former Chief of the Defence Staff and 5 star Admiral of the Royal Navy. That’s the highest possible rank of the British Royal Navy, similar to General Dwight Eisenhower’s 5 star rank in the United States. He was also Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. These are definitely positions to be ‘in the know’ about what is going on, at least to some extent.

If you are unaware, there have been hundreds of witnesses carrying impressive backgrounds that have been in the position to ‘know’ about these things. To compliment this testimony, we also have evidence in the form of documents from several different government/military/intelligence agencies.

Personally, when I think of all of the evidence that’s surfaced within the past few years alone, it’s mind-altering. If you’re interested, you will have to do your own research. If you don’t, next time somebody brings up the subject, it’s good to keep an open mind and at least acknowledge that yes, this is actually a strong possibility.

I’ll leave you with this last clip from the Thrive documentary, of the late great Dr. Brian O’Leary, a former NASA astronaut, one of many astronauts who has spoken out enthusiastically about this subject and the evidence behind it. My apologies if you’ve already seen it, as I’ve used it numerous times in previous articles.
