IT’S OFFICIAL – WE NOW KNOW THAT “UFOS” OR “UAP” ARE REAL – SO ARE THEY EXTRATERRESTRIAL OR NOT?
It’s almost 2018, and the subject of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) or Unidentified Ariel Phenomenon (UAP, a term that seems to be the new “official wording” from government personnel) is now a verified fact within the mainstream. Just as certain as we are of several different concepts that come from repeatable hard science, or information about other phenomena in other subject areas dealing with observation, we (humanity) are just as certain about UFOs.
When Ex Canadian Defence minister Paul Hellyer said that “UFOs are as real as the airplanes flying overhead,” he wasn’t joking. Documents, along with live testimony from dozens, if not hundreds of people from within “high level” government and intelligence groups have also been speaking about the topic quite publicly.
There are literally too many examples to name, from four star generals, to directors of military contractors like Lockheed Martin, directors of intelligence agencies, heads of major military committee’s, like NATO, and much more.
The latest examples would be Steve Justice, a recently retired 30 year director of Lockheed Skunkworks (aerospace), and now on as a director at To The Stars, who recently stated:
“This is a concept for an international point-to-point transportation craft that will erase the current travel limits of distance and time. It mimics the capabilities observed in unidentified aerial phenomenon by employing a drive system that alters space-time metric. We have glimpses of how the physics of this works, but we need to harvest technologies from the Science Division to “realize” the capability.”

By making this statement, he is relaying that there are unidentified craft that are using these capabilities to travel what we would consider to be vast distances.

Robert Bigelow, the Founder of Bigelow aerospace recently went public stating that he knows for a fact that “ET” is here. You can see that interview and read more about it here.
Sure, witness testimony is not enough to draw a conclusion, but given their positions and long records of “credibility,” it’s almost ridiculous to ignore. If it were one or two people there would be reasons to doubt, but when there are multiple hundreds, we know something is up, especially when their encounters with “UFOs” has already been verified by their employer, the government, and by official previously classified documents.
Since many do not consider witness testimony credible, no matter who it comes from, it’s always important to mention the documents, the evidence of radar trackings and more.
Obviously, this is a topic that still challenges many people, rubs them the wrong way and conflicts with long held belief systems. This has been a pattern with many subjects and new discoveries throughout human history, things change slowly over time, but with our rapid technological development, which is still increasing at an exponential rate (don’t forget the black budget world), we don’t seem to be that far off. In fact, we already seem to be there.

Remember, UFO doesn’t exactly 100 percent equate to extraterrestrial, however, it’s one of many possibilities and probabilities that has its own evidence to make that assertion.
The documents that have been released by several governments, intelligence agencies and cases via The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) indicate objects and encounters (mostly military encounters) with objects travelling at unattainable speeds, and performing maneuvers that no known aircraft of ours can, in some cases defying our own understanding of physics.

When the F-4 turned away from the object and apparently was no longer a threat to it, the aircraft regained all instrumentation and communications. Another brightly lighted object came out of the original object. The second object headed straight toward the F4. ” (source)
We even have publications in peer-reviewed journals being put out about extraterrestrial hypothesis exists. Here is one example, here is another. Here’s another interesting one from 1994 talking about physical evidence related to the phenomenon, which we now have more of today.
Below is a great little talk from Jacques Vallee talking about how can start learning from all of these encounters. He’s a computer scientist and astronomer who has done work for NASA, and more. He’s most table for co-developing the first computerized mapping of Mars and for his work at SRI International on the network information centre for ARPANET.
Government Deception
This would be an appropriate time to state that, obviously, our governments have deceived us on so many levels, it’s more than likely that as more information continues to make its way into the public domain, there will be good reasons to have a heightened sense scepticism when they speak about UFOs and/or extraterrestrials, as with anything else.
The mainstream world is full of twisted agendas and attempts to alter our perception for truth and profit, or other agenda’s that are not really in the people’s best interest, but rather the ‘1 percent’s’ best interest. The global war against drugs, or terrorism are perfect examples. Especially with the fact that ‘false flag’ terrorism has become more transparent.
To get a clear picture of this topic, which is almost impossible to do the deeper you get into it, one must do independent research rather than rely on the same media which has tight ties to corporate and government interests, under the guise of “national security.”
This is not to say that there are not good people, with pure intentions, just doing their job within these arenas. It’s a complicated topic, but when discussing it one must always keep the Deep State in the back of their mind, as it controls the entire geo-political perceptive, in most cases.
There are efforts being made to alert the public, Tom Delonge’s To The Stars effort is one of them, but this is a very compartmentalized topic. He is getting information from those from within the intelligence world, but who are they getting their information from and is it correct? Is it truthful? Or is there some sort of spin on it, for whatever reason? And do those who are relaying this information even realize that there could be as spin?
Are there really legitimate reasons for the cover-up after so many years? Was it justified? I believe humanity is meant to live in transparency, and we and can handle this type of information, and we were meant to receive it. Acknowledging certain truths about the nature of reality is an important step in our human evolution, as it provides opportunities for us to move beyond paradigms of the past, and move forward to where we are supposed to go, and perhaps that is to the stars.
The corporate and financial take-over of our democratic system has contributed to the secrecy, no doubt. This topic has huge technological and intellectual implications that could completely transform our planet and help create new ways of doing things here. And, as with everything else, those who are making billions and trillions off of the old way of doing things might also have a say.
What type of propulsion systems are these craft using?
Sure, we know UFOs are real, but mainstream media (as well as government) have a long history of taking real events and using them for their advantage, and usually do so by twisting our perception what’s really going on.
With this topic, as with every other, we simply can’t rely on government and official intelligence people all the time, with complete credibility. It’s important to remember that there is a lot of disinformation that has infiltrated this field, and one must always use their discernment.
Are They Extraterrestrial?
The existence of UFOs is verified, in several different ways, but extraterrestrial intelligence is still a different story. There are multiple factors that lead to the extraterrestrial hypothesis. As mentioned above, before UFOs were officially “verified,” there was good reason to believe in their existence, and now it’s official. In the same way, there is now evidence to believe that some of these sophisticated craft are in fact extraterrestrial.

Many people, like Lord Admiral Hill-Norton, have come forth expressing the same thing, and have flat out said that they have knowledge of extraterrestrial intelligence as it related to the UFO phenomenon.
Here’s an FBI document discussing extraterrestrial bodies and craft (page 21 & 22) , here’s an article with an interesting CIA document linked in it referring to extraterrestrial bodies and a military encounter. There are several examples one can locate within the literature, which are both benevolent and malevolent in nature.
Below is an interesting discussion featuring Richard Dolan, one of the worlds foremost authorities on the topic. He goes in a little deeper about the extraterrestrial hypothesis. If you want to learn more about the topic, he’s a great place to start.

The Lore Lindu National Park contains more than 400 megalithic sculptures some of which have anthropomorphic representations, which some compare with the moai of Easter Island, but even to otherworldly visitors.
The Bada Valley is located on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia, within the Lore Lindu National Park.
Its main attraction is more than 400 megalithic sculptures scattered all over the place, 30 of which have anthropomorphic representations, which some compare with the moai of Easter Island, but even to otherworldly visitors.
Hundreds of these statues are believed to date back to the 14th century and are called watu (“stone”) in the local Badaic language and arca (“statue”) in Indonesian.
The purpose of the megaliths and their builders are unknown.

They were discovered by western archeologists in 1908, although they are locally documented at least since the 14th century.
There are dozens of sculptures whose purpose unknown, and whose dating ranges from 1,000 to 5,000 years old, which means that they could be at least 500 years older than the first moai statues of Easter Island.
Some researchers believe that they are related to the megalithic culture of Laos, Cambodia, and parts of Indonesia, where different examples of megaliths have appeared.
However, the Bada Valley statues are unique in all of Southeast Asia due to their morphology.

“One named Tokala’ea, for instance, is said to be a rapist turned to stone; deep cuts in the rock represent scars from knives. Another statue named Tadulako—once a trusted village protector who turned to granite after stealing rice—was left to gaze across the valley at the villagers he betrayed.”
Still today some locals believe that stones have supernatural powers and are able to move by themselves, and many attribute them to our ancient ancestors and to beings that came from the heavens, thousands of years ago.
Archeologists have so far identified both male and female sculptures, differentiated by the representation of the genitals and facial features, such as long hair in women.
Other sculptures are minimalist, with faces indicated by a simple line for eyebrows, cheeks, and chin. Most of the megalithic figures are alone, with a small number of statues distributed forming groups. Curiously, some of the statues are up to 4 and a half meters tall.
Some statues have been found to represent animals as well.
Those that represent humans have huge heads with massive eyes and tall, straight bodies. Most of the statues have fallen and remain half-buried on the banks of rivers or in the middle of the field.
The Bada Valley is also well-known for the Kalambas, circular pots carved out of a single block of stone.
The so-called Kalambas can be found all across the valley and were crafted in various shapes and sizes.
Archeologists have found that some of Kalambas have a circular hole in the center, while others have been found to contain two, having a partition in the middle.
Despite the fact that the real use of the Kalambas remains a mystery, some say that these massive pots were used as bathtubs for nobles or kings.
Some authors indicate that these massive circular pots were once used as coffins, or even as cisterns for the storage of water.
Archeologists believe the Kalambas were once covered as they have found massive stone lids in their vicinity, which means that they were not used as bathtubs.
However, just as with the massive megalithic statues, the true purpose and origin of the Kalambas remain a profound mystery that archaeologists have not been able to solve.
Both the statues sand the Kalambas have been abandoned a long time ago, and researchers have not found any tools or other pieces of evidence of the ancient cultures that built them.

Studies and measurements made by satellite and GPS seem to confirm Nabta Playa’s alignment with Sirius, Alpha Centauri, and Orion’s Belt.
Thanks to recent studies we’ve been able to understand how in the distant past, Africa and much of Arabia was much different than it is today. We know that between 130,000-70,000 years ago the Egyptian region known as Nabta Playa, now an arid desert, was a savannah with abundant vegetation and wildlife.

Buffalos, giraffes, antelopes, and gazelles populated this endorheic basin that came to have a large lake.
The archaeological discoveries indicate that the human presence goes back at least to the tenth millennium BC.
There, among the numerous sites scattered around the area, we find a small cromlech, raised about a thousand years before Stonehenge, whose purpose remains a profound mystery.
Located deep within the Nubian Desert, about 800 kilometers south of Cairo and 100 kilometers west of Abu Simbel lie the ruins of the Stonehenge of the desert.
The first groups of people must have been attracted to the region because of their sources of water and pasture for the cattle. The archaeological findings indicate the existence of settlements in this region in dates between the tenth and the eighth millennium BC.

These people had a culture of domesticating cattle (perhaps the first in all of Africa to practice cattle grazing), and they used ceramic utensils adorned with elaborate inscriptions.
Around the VII century BC, archaeologists say there must have been an extensive and organized settlement in the region, with a deep well of water as a source of resources.
Cabins built with poles have been found.
The people who lived in the region had a rich diet which included fruits, vegetables, millet, sorghum, and tubercles.
Also, in the seventh millennium, but somewhat later, goats and sheep were brought to the region, apparently from the northwest.

The people who inhabited the region developed quickly and upgraded their settlements.
Archeological excavations have revealed that these prehistoric people secured their survival, apparently, with a greater level of organization than their contemporaries of the Nile Valley: they erected stone structures above and below the ground, elaborately designed villages were erected, and the inhabitants of the region built deep wells that maintained water all year.
Sometimes during the VI millennium BC, evidence of a religion or prehistoric cult appeared; archaeologists discovered cattle buried in stone chambers with roofs covered with clay. Cattle were normally only killed on important occasions.
It has been suggested that the cult associated with sacrificing cattle shown in Nabta Playa marks an early evolution of the Hathor cult of Ancient Egypt.
Hathor was worshiped as a protector of the desert regions of Serabit el-Khadim.
Eventually, as this ancient people developed, sometimes between 6100 and 5800 BC one of the oldest known lithic constructions on Earth, the small “cromlech” of Nabta Playa, which is believed to have been erected a thousand years before Stonehenge.
As noted by Fred Wendorf and Romuald Schild: “The construction of the megaliths and the large complex structures at Nabta required significant effort, indicating the presence of a religious or political authority with control over human resources for an extended period of time. They, together with the calendar circle and cattle burials, represent an elaborate and previously unsuspected ceremonialism in the Neolithic of the Eastern Sahara. Although the evidence remains insecure and thus it cannot be demonstrated that these Saharan cattle pastoralists had a ranked society, this is, nevertheless, a strong possibility.”
It consists of thirty stones arranged in a circle, inside which there are six other stones.
The site also has five lithic alignments that extend from a set of central stones.
Astrophysicist Thoms G. Brophy suggested that the “megaliths” of Nabta Playa could have constituted a kind of astronomical observatory.
The circle of stones would be a calendar with four pairs of stones as doors, facing two to two: a pair oriented in a north-south direction and the second in a northeast-southwest direction, indicating the solstice.
Also, according to Brophy, the six central stones, and their different inclinations would also be part of the observatory.
He proposed that three of those stones are related to the Orion belt and the other three with the shoulder and the main star of Orion, with greater inclination than the three previous stones.
Its cycle is repeated approximately every 25,000 years, following the precession of the equinoxes.
The last minimum of the Orion belt occurred between 6400 and 4900 BC., according to radiocarbon dating of the remains of bonfires made in the circle.
In regards to the five radial alignments, Brophy’s interpretation suggested that the lines drawn from these stones to the radial stone were associated with the celestial places where several stars are represented by the central stones in the “circle-calendar” at the time of the ortho heliacal vernal equinox.
He theorized that the different distances represented the brightness of the stars, and deduced that the builders of the astronomical calendar associated the distance of the Earth to the stars with a scale of one meter = 0.799 light years, within the margin of error for astronomical distances calculated today.
Nabta Playa, one of the oldest astronomical observatories on Earth?
A study conducted by the University of Colorado in 2007 concluded that the dates of the alignments proposed by Brophy were deviating for at least 1,500 years.
The archaeologists of the University of Colorado proposed that the area would have been a ceremonial center around 6100-5600 BC, where people from different places congregated to perform animal sacrifices, evidenced by a large number of remains found on the old beach of the lake.
Around 5500 BC, more organized groups began visiting the region and built burial chambers and other burial mounds. Sometimes around 4800 BC the cromlech would have been raised, aligned approximately with the summer solstice.
More complex structures would follow him during a period that would go from 4500 to 3600 BC.
Measurements were also made by satellite and GPS, which confirmed a possible alignment with Sirius, Alpha Centauri, and Orion’s Belt.
In their study, researchers suggest that the repetitive orientation of the megaliths, stelae, human tombs and animals found reveal a very early symbolic connection with the North.
The conclusions made by experts is that the symbolism derived from the archaeological records of Nabta Playa in the 5th millennium BC is very basic, and focused on issues of practical importance for a nomadic people: cattle, water, death, land, sun, and the stars.

While many of us are fascinated with Pyramids scattered across the globe and massive stones such as those found at Puma Punku or Baalbek, the truth is that there are many other ancient wonders around the globe worth knowing about.
If we travel to the Swedish Island of Gotland, we will come across a fascinating ancient historical treasure.
The island of Gotland is home to the largest concentration of grooved stones in all of Europe, artifacts that are more interesting than they seem. The island of Gotland is the largest island of the Baltic Sea and is located off the east coast of Sweden and the north coast of Poland.
The island is a limestone plateau, without mountains, inhabited since ancient times and famous for its abundance of sheep.
In those outcrops of limestone, and in the rocks and stones scattered throughout the island, there are some grooves (which in Swedish are called sliprännor) made thousands of years ago by ancient mankind.
As noted by Space Math / NASA, the length of the grooves varies from about 0.5 up to one meter.
They are between 5 cm to 10 cm wide and 1 cm to 10 cm in depth. The grooves on a stone are not parallel. Instead, they are oriented in several directions, some grooves crossing other grooves. Yet on any particular stone, the grooves are not randomly oriented but seem to follow a prescribed orientation, although that orientation may change slightly from grove to grove.
The grooves on the stones became a topic of interested for experts in the 1850s when researchers started comparing them with similar ones existing in France, where they are called polissoirs and date from the Neolithic era, created by the same culture that erected the menhirs and dolmens.
The difference is that in Gotland we find the highest concentration of grooved stones in the world, with the whole island practically covered with them.
The most important question: why?
By 1933, more than 500 sites had been documented with these grooved stones on the island.
At first, it was thought that they could have been made to sharpen Neolithic axes or swords during the Middle Ages.
However, it was soon evident that the width of the medieval or Viking swords was greater than the grooves themselves to fit into them.
And as for the Neolithic weapons, none could be found in the excavations made so far.
So, what were they? And why did the ancients create them?

As mentioned in the above article by NASA Space Math, the stretch marks or grooves are between 50 centimeters and 1 meter long, depending on the location, about 10 centimeters deep and another 10 centimeters wide.
From the curvature of the grooves it seems that they had to be made with some abrasive object, according to some a pendulum, using quartz sand and water.
So, if they were not made by sharpening tools or weapons, what was their purpose?
As explained by NASA, is that the mysterious stones are in fact astronomical calendars.
This is the longest known series of grooves on Gotland (Sweden). It is situated on the farm Hugreifs, about 600 m south-east of the church at Gammelgarn. The 32 grooves mark the direction to the rising or setting full moon on the date of its passage of the bright star Antares in Scorpio. The dates are in the Gregorian calendar. (Measurements by S. This is based on the curious alignment of the grooves, which always appear in groups and point in different directions, even overlapping at times.
Sören Gannholm, who studied the enigmatic stones in the early 1980s, found that many of the grooves point in the direction of the start or end of the full moon on different dates with an interval of 19 years.
A computer simulation taking into account the azimuth found a correspondence of the orientations for the period 3300-2000 BC, which may confirm their Neolithic origin.
Recent research of 1256 grooves revealed that they are arranged with certain positions of the celestial bodies, possibly the sun or the moon. Most of them are oriented east to west, although the island is itself oriented north-south.
Certain late 1st-millennium picture stones on Gotland display grooves that have been produced after the relief of the stones was formed, which show the grooves to be late. Furthermore, with the level above current sea surface of the lowest grooved outcrops on the island, that shows them to be no older than AD 1000 judging from post-glacial shoreline displacement.
It has been suggested that on one picture stone, part of the Late Iron Age decoration is carved into the bottom of a groove, suggesting that this groove must be older than the picture.

Now, A UFO Hunter and Youtuber from Arizona (USA) claims to have discovered a giant object using satellite images from Google Earth on the Frozen Continent.
According to his claims, there’s a massive Antenna covered by thick layers of snow on Antarctica, and it wasn’t placed there by penguins, was it?
Antarctica, a continent shrouded in mystery
For years has Antarctica been mentioned in the same sentence as UFO, Conspiracy, Aliens, Secret Bases, and Pyramids.
But what makes Antarctica so mysterious, and is there anything anomalous on the frozen continent at all, other than secret penguin societies?
Mostly because of its isolated geographical position, Antarctica is being bombarded by stories of secret bases, aliens, and pyramids.
Its far away from society, its mostly uninhabited, its covered in snow, and it was once a continent teeming with life.
But because of the fact that it’s mostly uninhabited, visited mostly only by scientific expeditions, and located far away from society, the continent of Antarctica offers all necessary ingredients for a great conspiracy theory.
The above facts have made Antarctica appear every once in a while, in news as one of the most mysterious places on Earth.
Therefore, it is not strange that numerous ‘conspiracy theories, claims, and accounts’ have been proposed throughout the years, trying to explain some of the many enigmatic occurrences on Earth’s most isolated continent.
Many authors have proposed that there are many interesting things hidden beneath Antarctica that are kept away from society.
And even though we know about Antarctica only for a little over 100 years, there are numerous ancient maps that depict parts of Antarctica free of ice.
Anyway, despite the fact that many details about Antarctica are exaggerated, every once in a while, something new is found on the icy continent.
Now, a man who goes by the nickname MrMBB333, believes that satellite images from Antarctica supposedly show a structure with straight lines which he reckons, is not the product of nature, nor wind currents, for that matter.
Oh, here’s the video:
Skeptics argue that it’s just snowdrifts, but Michael insists it’s a giant antenna.
The question that arises now is who could have built such a structure in a place like that if of course, it is a massive manmade structure.

Could this be some sort of massive underground facility on Antarctica? Or is this discovery, as skeptics suggest, just the result of mother nature and wind currents?
Thunderstorms in Earth’s upper atmosphere remain something of a mystery. Scientists cannot reach them directly with instruments; they are too high for balloons and too low for weather satellites. Flying through thunderstorms or camping out on mountaintops waiting for one typically ranks low even on an adventurers' bucket list.
An investigation aboard the International Space Station has come to the rescue. The European Space Agency (ESA) Atmosphere-Space Interactions Monitor (ASIM) is a collection of optical cameras, photometers and a large X- and gamma-ray detector mounted on the outside of ESA’s Columbus Module on the station. For at least two years, it will observe thunderstorm-generated electrical discharges in the upper atmosphere – the stratosphere and mesosphere – up to the ionosphere, the edge of space. This Earth observation facility enables study of severe thunderstorms and their role in the Earth’s atmosphere and climate.
Upper-atmospheric lightning, known as transient luminous events, includes colorful phenomena with names straight out of a fairy tale: sprites, elves, and giants.
The space station offers this investigation an ideal observing platform for several reasons. Its low-Earth orbit brings the observations as close as possible to these upper-atmosphere phenomena. The station’s orbit also offers almost complete coverage of tropical and subtropical regions, much of which are difficult to access but are where some of the most intense thunderstorms form. Finally, observations are made in optical bands that are subject to absorption in the atmosphere and so cannot be used for ground observations.
Sprites are flashes caused by electrical breakdown in the mesosphere. Blue jets are lightning discharges reaching upwards through the stratosphere, and elves are concentric rings of emissions caused by an electromagnetic pulse at the ionosphere’s bottom edge. Giants are large discharges that create an electrical breakdown of the atmosphere from the top of thunderstorms to the bottom ionosphere. Terrestrial gamma-ray flashes are a flash phenomenon generated at the top of thunderstorms. Evidence suggests that run-away electron discharge causes some of these phenomena.
In the 1920s, English scientist C.T.R. Wilson received a Nobel Prize for work with a cloud chamber that made visible the ionizing radiation from cosmic rays and X-rays. He predicted that electrical discharges can occur above thunderstorms in the mesosphere, and that thunderstorm electrical fields can accelerate electrons to relativistic energies. Instruments were not sensitive enough to provide a definitive answer until 1993, however, when flashes of X-rays over thunderstorms were observed from NASA’s Compton Gamma Ray Observatory.
In 1990, the first observation of a sprite was documented, and since then ground and aircraft observations discovered a multitude of discharges above thunderstorms, and spacecraft in low orbit observed X- and gamma-ray radiation.
ASIM represents a comprehensive global survey of these super-high altitude, difficult-to-observe-from-the-ground events to help determine their physics and how they relate to lightning. The investigation also studies high-altitude cloud formation and determines what characteristics make thunderstorms effective in disturbing the high-altitude atmosphere. The research improves understanding of the effect of thunderstorms on Earth’s atmosphere and contributes to better atmospheric models and meteorological and climatological predictions.
“High-altitude observation allows us to study these events without the obscuring clouds,” said principal investigator Torsten Neubert of the National Space institute of the Technical University of Denmark. “With ASIM we will better understand the complex processes of upper-atmospheric lightning, which are also elements of ordinary lightning, although they take on different forms. This understanding can improve technology for detecting ordinary lightning.”
The investigation also helps clarify the effect of thunderstorms on the atmosphere, ionosphere and radiation belts, and will monitor the influx of meteors in Earth's environment and their effect on its atmosphere. Blue jets at the top of thunderstorm clouds, for example, change the concentration of greenhouse gases, another way thunderstorms can affect the stratosphere.
The types of discharges and their structure help scientists better understand the structure of the atmosphere where they occur and of the thunderstorm battery that powers them.
“We will learn more about thunderstorm clouds and more of the fine-structure of the stratosphere and mesosphere, of which little is known,” Neubert said. Based on video taken by ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen from the space station in 2015, scientists already learned more about what types of cloud create such activity, and that lightning comes from clouds at an altitude of about 10.5 miles (17 km). “These are solid scientific results documenting for the first time how active the tops of thunderclouds can be,” he added.
ASIM observations also improve understanding of the effect of dust storms, urban pollutants, forest fires, and volcanoes on cloud formation and electrification, and the relation of eye-wall lightning activity to intensification of thunderstorms. That could help us all live more happily ever after.

Is the government really stockpiling materials in a Nevada building that scientists cannot identify?
What to make of a Las Vegas building full of unidentified alloys?
The New York Times published a stunning story (Dec. 16) revealing that the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) had, between 2007 and 2012, funded a $22 million program for investigating UFOs. The story included three revelations that were tailored to blow readers’ minds:
1. Many high-ranking people in the federal government believe aliens have visited planet Earth.
2. Military pilots have recorded videos of UFOs with capabilities that seem to outstrip all known human aircraft, changing direction and accelerating in ways no fighter jet or helicopter could ever accomplish.
3. In a group of buildings in Las Vegas, the government stockpiles alloys and other materials believed to be associated with UFOs.
Points one and two are weird, but not all that compelling on their own: The world already knew that plenty of smart folks believe in alien visitors, and that pilots sometimes encounter strange phenomena in the upper atmosphere – phenomena explained by entities other than space aliens, such as a weather balloon, a rocket launch or even a solar eruption.
Point No. 3, though – those buildings full of alloys and other materials – that’s a little harder to hand wave away. Is there really a DOD cache full of materials from out of this world?
One of the authors of the Times report, Ralph Blumenthal, had this to say on MSNBC about the alloys: “They have, as we reported in the paper, some material from these objects that is being studied so that scientists can find what accounts for their amazing properties, this technology of these objects, whatever they are.” When asked what the materials were, Blumenthal responded, “They don’t know. They’re studying it, but it’s some kind of compound that they don’t recognize.”
Here’s the thing, though: The chemists and metallurgists Live Science spoke to – experts in identifying unusual alloys – don’t buy it.
“I don’t think it’s plausible that there’s any alloys that we can’t identify,” Richard Sachleben, a retired chemist and member of the American Chemical Society’s panel of experts, told Live Science. “My opinion? That’s quite impossible.”
Alloys are mixtures of different kinds of elemental metals. They’re very common – in fact, Sachleben said, they’re more common on Earth than pure elemental metals are – and very well understood. Brass is an alloy. So is steel. Even most naturally occurring gold on Earth is an alloy made up of elemental gold mixed with other metals, like silver or copper. “There are databases of all known phases [of metal], including alloys,” May Nyman, a professor in the Oregon State University Department of Chemistry, told Live Science. Those databases include straightforward techniques for identifying metal alloys.
If an unknown alloy appeared, Nyman said it would be relatively simple to figure out what it was made of.
For crystalline alloys – those in which the mixture of atoms forms an ordered structure – researchers use a technique called X-ray diffraction, Nyman said.
“The X-ray’s wavelength is about the same size as the distance between the atoms [of crystalline alloys],” Nyman said, “so that means when the X-rays go into a well-ordered material, they diffract [change shape and intensity] – and from that diffraction [pattern] you can get information that tells you the distance between the atoms, what the atoms are, and how well-ordered the atoms are. It tells you all about the arrangement of your atoms.”
With noncrystalline, amorphous alloys, the process is a bit different, but not by much.
“These are all very standard techniques in research labs, so if we had such mysterious metals, you could take it to any university where research is done, and they could tell you what are the elements and something about the crystalline phase within a few hours,” Nyman said.
Sachleben agreed.
“There are no alloys that are sitting in some warehouse that we cannot figure out what they are. In fact, it’s pretty simple, and any reasonably good metallurgical grad student can do it for you,” he said.
Nyman said that if metals did fall from some mysterious aircraft, some forensics experiments would quickly answer a lot of questions about that aircraft. [UFO Mysteries: These Sightings Have Never Been Solved]
“How has the hunk of metal changed?” Nyman said. “From my scientist’s perspective, that’s the kind of question I’d be asking. Maybe, if it has to do with world politics, and we want to know where the metal comes from, maybe there’s some analysis that can lead you to where it was mined, or what country uses that particular alloy, that kind of thing.”
If the aircraft had come from space, Nyman said, that travel would leave telltale signs in the metal as well, in the form of spacefaring debris and ionization (changes to the electrical charges of the substance’s atoms).
Even if a chunk of alloy that hadn’t been seen before did fall to Earth from outer space, both Nyman and Sachleben agreed that it wouldn’t necessarily have come from an alien craft. In fact, Sachleben said, alloys strike the planet regularly – space-traversing alloys like those found in fairly common nickel-iron meteorites – leaving behind telltale signs. The meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs was even identified by the rare-Earth metals it left behind in certain geological formations in Earth’s crust.
It’s important to point out that while Blumenthal did go on cable news and say the alloys were unidentifiable mysteries, helping to spur speculation, that’s not what his article actually stated. Here’s the full quote from Saturday’s piece:
“The company [involved in the DOD research] modified buildings in Las Vegas for the storage of metal alloys and other materials that … program contractors said had been recovered from unidentified aerial phenomena. Researchers also studied people who said they had experienced physical effects from encounters with the objects and examined them for any physiological changes. In addition, researchers spoke to military service members who had reported sightings of strange aircraft.”
From this statement, there’s no actual sign that there’s anything unusual about the alloys themselves. All the Times wrote was that the DOD researchers tasked with finding weird UFO stuff collected some metal, interviewed some people who had claimed startling experiences with it, and decided that it was UFO-related.
In an email to Live Science regarding these metal alloys, Blumenthal said, “We printed as much as we were able to verify. Can’t go beyond that.”
As for whether there’s an explanation at least for the metals themselves, Sachleben said: “There’s not as many mysteries in science as people like to think. It’s not like we know everything – we don’t know everything. But most things we know enough about to know what we don’t know.”
Powered by the Moon's pull, Earth's oceans generate a magnetic field all of their own.
As it transits through the skies above, the Moon’s pull on the ocean’s salty depths generates a second, if much weaker, global magnetic field.
The ebb and flow of salty water, caused by our Moon’s gravitational pull, can induce their own magnetic field — one which a trio of European Space Agency’s (ESA) satellites has mapped in exquisite detail.
Known as “Swarm”, the trio of satellites was blasted off into orbit back in 2013 to help us better understand the planet’s magnetic field. Most of that field is produced by the churnings of molten iron in the Earth’s core, functioning like a massive underground dynamo. There are other secondary effects, however, such as those produced by human activity — and those are the effects Swarm was intended to peer into.
Imagine the surprise among ESA’s researchers when the satellites stumbled into a whole new magnetic phenomenon.
“It’s a really tiny magnetic field. It’s about 2-2.5 nanotesla at satellite altitude, which is about 20,000 times weaker than the Earth’s global magnetic field,” Nils Olsen, from the Technical University of Denmark, told BBC News.
What set the satellite trio apart from its peers — and enabled this discovery — is the way they ‘see’ water. Other devices we’ve sent in orbit record tides as a change in sea-surface height, but Swarm’s magnetic instruments view the movements of the entire column of water, all the way down to the seabed.
Water is diamagnetic, meaning that it has weak magnetic qualities when a magnetic field is applied to it. However, adding salt reduces its diamagnetism but makes it a good, but not great, electrical conductor — meaning it will start interacting with magnetic fields, relatively weakly. Still, oceans house humongous quantities of water, and as tides cycle around ocean basins, the overall effect is enough to ‘pull’ the geomagnetic field lines along. The interaction between saltwater and the Earth’s magnetic field also generates electrical currents, which, in turn, induce their own magnetic signals.
Studying the ebb and flow of this second magnetic field can let us peer into the movement of deep bodies of water. Oceans capture, store, and move a lot of heat around, and Swarm’s findings could help researchers build better models of Earth’s systems — particularly useful in understanding the effects of climate change.
The magnetic signature of the tides causes a “weak magnetic response” deep below the sea, Olson explained — which could allow us to peer into the electrical goings-on of our planet’s lithosphere and upper mantle. Such data will help us better map these structures, as well as the tectonic activity that drives earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
“Since oceans absorb heat from the air, tracking how this heat is being distributed and stored, particularly at depth, is important for understanding our changing climate,” Olson said in a statement, adding that the discovery “gives us a truly global picture of how the ocean flows at all depths.”
Our limited understanding of dark matter and the fact that we’re focusing on the wrong things might be preventing us from discovering alien life.

A Cosmic Gorilla You know that experiment where you’re supposed to count the number of basketball passes, and you’re so focused on the ball that you don’t even see a bear moving through the picture? Researchers believe something similar might be happening on a cosmic scale. We’re so focused on one thing that we’re completely missing the other — and in this case, ‘the other’ might mean alien signals.
Writing in the journal Acta Astronautica, neuropsychologists Gabriel de la Torre and Manuel García, from the University of Cádiz, say that when it comes to detecting alien signals, we might be looking in the wrong direction. They say that we’re looking for aliens that act similarly to us when that might really not be the case.
“When we think of other intelligent beings, we tend to see them from our perceptive and conscience sieve; however we are limited by our sui generis vision of the world, and it’s hard for us to admit it,” says De la Torre, who prefers to avoid the terms ‘extraterrestrial’ or aliens by its Hollywood connotations and uses more generic terms, such as ‘non-terrestrial’.
“What we are trying to do with this differentiation is to contemplate other possibilities,” he says “for example, beings of dimensions that our mind cannot grasp; or intelligences based on dark matter or energy forms, which make up almost 95% of the universe and which we are only beginning to glimpse. There is even the possibility that other universes exist, as the texts of Stephen Hawking and other scientists indicate.”
The awareness test that inspired the study. Try to count the number of basketball passes. Did you also catch something out of the ordinary?
Hardwired to miss it In order to test their hypothesis, they had 137 people distinguish aerial photographs with artificial structures (such as buildings or roads) from others with natural elements (such as mountains or rivers). In one of the images, a tiny character disguised as a gorilla was inserted to see if the participants noticed. As expected, participants tended to miss the gorilla. It’s normal because we’re hardwired to miss it — we’re looking for something else. Similarly, if we’re looking for a specific kind of signal, we might completely miss an unrelated type of signal, one we weren’t expecting.
“If we transfer this to the problem of searching for other non-terrestrial intelligences, the question arises about whether our current strategy may result in us not perceiving the gorilla,” stresses the researcher, who insists: “Our traditional conception of space is limited by our brain, and we may have the signs above and be unable to see them. Maybe we’re not looking in the right direction.”
In another example presented in the article, researchers showed participants an apparently geometric structure that can be seen in the images of Occator — an impact crater of the dwarf planet Ceres, famous for its bright spots. Inside the crater appears a strange structure, looking like a square inside a triangle. The point researchers were trying to make is that we sometimes see patterns that just aren’t there, due to the way our brains are wired.
“Our structured mind tells us that this structure looks like a triangle with a square inside, something that theoretically is not possible in Ceres,” says De la Torre, “but maybe we are seeing things where there are none, what in psychology is called pareidolia.”

But the opposite might also be happening, they say. We might have the signal right in front of our eyes, and simply miss it — kind of like a cosmic gorilla effect.
Types of civilizations We’re not really sure what to expect in terms of potentially advanced alien species, but the most commonly used scale is the Kardashev scale, proposed by Russian astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev. The scale has three main categories, and it focuses on different stages of energy capture and use, which seems to be a vital requirement for an advanced species:
A Type I civilization (a planetary civilization) can use and store all of the energy which reaches its planet from the parent star.
A Type II civilization (a stellar civilization) can harness the total energy of its planet’s parent star and use it on a planet.
A Type III civilization (a galactic civilization) can control energy on the scale of its entire host galaxy.
If you’ll look at it closely, you’ll see that humans aren’t really even on a Type I level yet, so the Kardashev scale has been extended, both upwards and downwards, including:
A Type 0 civilization (humans) that harvests a significant part of its planet energy, just not yet to its full potential.
A Type IV civilization (a universal civilization) that can control energy on the scale of the entire universe. This is already a virtually indestructible civilization. This hypothetical civilization would be able to interact with and harvest dark matter and dark energy.
A type V civilization (a multiversal civilization) — this already steps into the realm of metaphysics and assumes there is more than one universe, and a civilization that’s able to span and populate several universes.
A type VI civilization (deities) that would have the ability to interact with universes outside of time and space, similar in concept to an absolute deity.
Already, it’s becoming quite clear that we don’t even know how to understand very advanced alien civilizations, assuming that they exist. We might be able to understand a Type 0, I, or II civilization, assuming that they do share some similarities with us. But should we come across the higher levels of civilization, would we even realize what we’re looking at? This is what de la Torre and Garcia are asking. For all we know, dark matter and dark energy might hold the traces of such an advanced civilization. Of course, the researchers themselves admit the inherent shortcomings when you’re classifying something you know nothing about.
“We were well aware that the existing classifications are too simplistic and are generally only based on the energy aspect. The fact that we use radio signals does not necessarily mean that other civilizations also use them, or that the use of energy resources and their dependence are the same as we have,” the researchers point out, recalling the theoretical nature of their proposals.
The duo also proposes a different civilization scale, with 3 types. Type 1 is essentially ours, ephemeral, vulnerable to a planetary cataclysm, either natural or self-made. Type 2 is characterized by the longevity of its members, able to explore galaxies and overall much more durable. Type 3, as you’d expect, would be constituted by exotic creatures with eternal or near-eternal life, with an absolute dominion over the universe.
Naturally, this is all a bit speculative. We don’t really know whether we’re looking for the right thing or not, we don’t even know if there is a right thing or not. How likely are we to miss an alien signal, in the case that it exists? Impossible to tell right now. So this study definitely goes a bit ‘out there’, but it poses some intriguing questions.
If anything, the main takeaway is that we should perhaps take a step back and reconsider what alien life might look like. In other words, we shouldn’t only be counting the passes — we should keep an eye out for any gorillas.

NASA’s future planet hunter has arrived — and it’s set for glory.

The Kepler telescope ushered in a new age of space exploration, enabling astronomers to discover thousands of exoplanets. It was a magnificent tool that was successful beyond our wildest dreams. However, it’s nearing the end of its lifetime. Crippled and almost out of fuel, Kepler is fast approaching its conclusion. But rest assured — NASA already has its replacement prepared.
NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, or TESS, will be carried in outer space by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket in just a few days, on April 16, where it’s set for even greater success than Kepler. Think of it this way: if Kepler was looking through a straw, TESS will be visualizing 90% of the night sky. In other words, Kepler had a very narrow surveying angle, whereas TESS will have a much broader angle — overall, the area covered by TESS will be about 350 times larger than what Kepler could witness. This is largely owed to its unusual orbit — TESS has a never-before-used orbit which was designed to minimize the time the telescope spends obstructed by Earth or the Moon. However, there’s a trade-off.
TESS will observe the southern skies first, and then the north. The survey strips will overlap near the celestial poles, creating pockets of sky that will have longer observation times. Conveniently, the patches of sky that will be observed the most by TESS are also in ideal viewing locations for the future James Webb Space Telescope, which will be able to study planets that TESS finds in more detail.

TESS traded resolution for this larger angle — whereas Kepler was able to find planets up to 3,000 light years away, most of the exoplanets TESS finds will be just 30 to 300 light years away. Kepler has already discovered over 2,500 planets, with another 2,500 planet candidates being currently under review. TESS is expected to find 3,000 to 4,000 planets orbiting M-dwarves — relatively small and cold stars, red dwarfs of the M spectral type. Red dwarfs are by far the most common type of star in the Milky Way, but because of their low luminosity, they are difficult to study.
Currently, TESS is at Kennedy Space Center’s Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility, getting its thrusters fueled up for flight — and we couldn’t be more excited for this mission.
Asealed lake is an ideal place to look for clues about extraterrestrial life — and researchers have just identified a few more.

Life on other planets might not be located the most obvious of places. While researchers used to think that Earth-like planets such as Mars or Venus were capable of holding life, modern research has shown that places like Europa or Enceladus are much more likely to be hospitable (Europa and Enceladus are two frozen moons of Jupiter and Saturn respectively). However, astronomers have evidence that beneath the frozen surface lies a vast ocean of liquid where life may very well thrive. Researchers want to explore this avenue before actually landing a shuttle on the surface of these moons (which may take a very long time) and the best way to do that is by studying subglacial lakes.
Subglacial lakes are bodies of water perfectly sealed under a glacier — typically an ice cap or ice sheet. There are 400 known subglacial lakes in the world, most of which can be found in Antarctica, with Lake Vostok being probably the most well known. Since they’re sealed off from the rest of the world, life can develop and adapt independently — this essentially means that subglacial lakes are potentially unique microbial habitats which can provide information about how life might have developed on places like Europa. Now, lead author Anja Rutishauser, a Ph.D. student at the University of Alberta, has found the first subglacial lakes in the Canadian High Arctic.
“If there is microbial life in these lakes, it has likely been under the ice for at least 120,000 years, so it likely evolved in isolation,” Rutishauser said. “If we can collect a sample of the water, we may determine whether microbial life exists, how it evolved, and how it continues to live in this cold environment with no connection to the atmosphere.”

What makes these newly discovered lakes extra special is that they seem to contain very salty water — all other subglacial lakes we know of are thought to contain freshwater, or only mildly saline water. All subglacial lakes are good analogs for life beyond Earth, but the hypersaline nature of these newly discovered lakes makes them particularly tantalizing analogs for ice-covered moons in our solar system, according to the researchers. There is strong evidence that Jupiter’s icy moon Europa contains hypersaline water.
The lake was discovered using remote sensing, which is promising, especially considering that NASA’s Europa Clipper mission, which is set to launch sometime in the 2020s and take samples from Europa, will use similar remote sensing techniques. An analysis of the radar data shows that the lakes are located 550 to 750 meters beneath the Devon Ice Cap, one of the largest ice caps in the Canadian Arctic. They’ve not had contact with the outside world for tens of thousands of years.
“If there is microbial life in these lakes, it has likely been under the ice for at least 120,000 years, so it likely evolved in isolation,” Rutishauser said. “If we can collect a sample of the water, we may determine whether microbial life exists, how it evolved, and how it continues to live in this cold environment with no connection to the atmosphere.”
Now, researchers would like to sample this environment, which is probably more complicated than you’d expect. It’s not just drilling through hundreds of meters (or perhaps even kilometers) of ice that’s problematic: there’s also the matter of contamination — if a unique microbial environment does exist, the last thing you’d want to do is contaminate it.

What we know — and don't know — about aliens and UFOs

The view from the lunar landing module on July 20, 1969, was — in mankind’s best guess — the first time a living being traveled to another celestial body to observe the luminous blue planet shrouded in the seemingly infinite darkness of space.
But before that moment, the crew of Apollo 11, hurtling toward the moon, radioed mission command in Houston to ask about a curious object they saw on their third day in space.
“Do you have any idea where the S-IVB is with respect to us?” Commander Neil Armstrong asked, referring to the third stage of the Saturn V rocket that was jettisoned earlier in the flight.
Mission control had an answer about three minutes later, according to a NASA radio transcript of the mission.
“Apollo 11, Houston,” the command replied. “The S-IVB is about 6,000 nautical miles from you now. Over.” That satisfied Armstrong, who said 12 seconds later: “Okay. Thank you.”

The seemingly innocuous exchange has become a touchstone for UFO-sighting enthusiasts and alien truthers, and now, seemingly fake news.
Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, 88, the second astronaut to set foot on the moon, believed that the crew saw an extraterrestrial spacecraft at this moment, and a “lie detector” test proves it, at least according to the British tabloid the Daily Star.
That’s not quite right.
“He has never said he saw a UFO. This story has been a fabrication for the sake of headlines and is not true as far as Buzz Aldrin is concerned,” his spokeswoman, Christina Korp, told The Washington Post in a statement Tuesday. That echoes Aldrin’s 2015 comment on Reddit that the object “was not an alien.” The Daily Star did not return a request for comment.
The truth is out there, if only the Daily Star looked more closely.
The tabloid’s story focuses on a vocal analysis conducted by the Ohio-based Institute of BioAcoustic Biology and Sound Health, a nonprofit institution that founder Sharry Edwards has said developed a program that can evaluate how truthful or confident someone feels about a subject they are talking about.
Edwards told The Post she used Aldrin’s interview from the 2006 Discovery Science made-for-TV documentary “Apollo 11: The Untold Story” to analyze Aldrin’s remarks.
“There was something out there that was close enough to be observed, and what could it be?” Aldrin recounted about the incident, adding that crew member Michael Collins saw ellipses on the L-shaped object when viewed through a telescope. “That didn’t tell us very much,” he said.
The moment called for restraint from theorizing what the object might be during one of the most scrutinized missions in human history, Aldrin said.

“Who knows what somebody would have demanded that we turn back because of aliens or whatever the reason is,” he said on the program. The crew decided to move on and mention it later in mission debrief, Aldrin added.
In an analysis, Edwards says Aldrin “has a firm belief in what he saw but logical awareness that he cannot explain what he saw; therefore he thinks he should be doubted.”
She said that the conclusion was published years ago but that she does not know how it became suddenly relevant.
Aldrin has already clarified his position on the incident.
In a response on the NASA website after the documentary was released, Aldrin said he believed he saw one of four panels separated from the S-IVB heading on the same trajectory toward the moon but on a slightly different course. That discussion was edited out, and the rest was “taken out of context,” NASA said.
In the 2015 Reddit thread, he said the sun must have glinted off one of the panels.
The recurring UFO story is the result in part of the public distorting the scientific term UFO to mean a craft with “little green men,” NASA chief historian Bill Barry told The Post.
Yet the Apollo 11 mission was already a significant moment in human history without the intrigue of alien spacecraft.
The median age of Americans is about 38, or 11 years younger than the mission itself. Most people alive today were not around to hear President John F. Kennedy say in 1961 that the United States would send a man to the moon and return him safely to Earth.
The Soviet Union had already been the first to send a man into Earth’s orbit, frustrating NASA and creating a belief that the Russians might have an edge. The stakes were high. “They were basically on a war footing,” Barry said of NASA leadership.
NASA’s lessons from the mission were extensive. For instance, leaders honed the organization for large scientific projects, which later helped develop the International Space Station, Barry said. And investment in science paved the way for the Internet, cellphones and much more.
Discoveries also offered more hints about the origin of life on Earth and the history of the universe. Evaluating the rock samples from the moon helped confirm theories that the body is the result of an object that smashed into Earth and later coalesced to form our satellite, Barry said.
That lesson amounted to a common refrain among astronauts, he added: “We left the Earth, and what we discovered was ourselves.”
In the next five centuries, humanity will remember the 20th century for three things, Barry said: two world wars and the United States landing on the moon.
Aldrin has been known to defend that history, now and in the past.
In 2002, filmmaker Bart Sibrel confronted Aldrin, demanding that he swear on a Bible that the landing was authentic. Sibrel called him a “coward and a liar.”
Sibrel was adding “thief” when Aldrin struck him in the face. No charges were filed.
The moment was captured on video. There were no camera tricks. The punch was real.

If extraterrestrials wanted to try creating a human hybrid (I know – like they haven’t already!), now might be the time. NASA has revealed that a recent SpaceX cargo ship sent to the International Space Station contained an unusual and unique (as far as we know officially) cargo – vials of frozen bull and human sperm. Next, they’ll participate in an experiment to see if they have enough strength and mobility to attach to an egg membrane. Finally, they’ll be preserved and sent back to Earth for further evaluation. Wouldn’t it be easier (and more fun) to send a married (or at least ‘in a relationship’) couple to the ISS?
As a matter of fact, although it is strictly against NASA policy(no word on other space programs), one and only one married couple has been in space together. In September 1992, Space Shuttle mission STS-47 contained Mission Specialist 1 Mark C. Lee and Mission Specialist 3 N. Jan Davis, who met in astronaut training and married secretly shortly before the mission – forcing NASA to waive the ban for one time instead of postponing the mission until replacements could be found. Lee and Davis refused to answer any questions about having sex in the cramped Endeavor shuttle with five other crew members watching (or at least peeking) and they eventually divorced (coincidence?). While the ISS is more spacious and accommodating to intimate relations (or experiments) and has had many male-female crews, NASA continues to insist that, in spite of needing the information for longer space missions, no sex has officially occurred in space.
I can’t see anything — the windows are fogged up
What’s happening in the Micro-11 experiment isn’t exactly sex either. While the current all-male crew looks on (Really NASA? You waited until there were no women on the ISS?), the human sperm (there’s no word on who the donors were) will be divided into two groups (teams?). One group will be placed in a control placebo solution while the others will swim in a solution that stimulates capacitation, which is the maturation process a sperm must go through in order to be ready to attach to an egg. (Some articles have implied there would be eggs involved, but NASA says no.) The astronauts will be crouched around a microscope watching the wiggling while video is beamed back to scientists on Earth (nice work if you can get it). Then they’ll all be preserved and returned to Earth, where they’ll be analyzed and compare, both with each other and with sperm that went through similar processes on Earth.
The Eagle has landed!
Finally, the samples will be mixed with preservatives and returned to Earth, where they’ll be analyzed to see whether capacitation occurred and whether the sperm samples from space differ from sperm samples activated on the ground. As NASA’s press release states:
“Little is currently known about the biology of reproduction in space and this experiment will address this gap by measuring – for the first time – how well human sperm functions in space.”
Which brings us back to who put the sperm in space – Elon Musk and his massive Falcon 9 thruster/rocket. (You KNEW Musk would be involved with this somehow.) While he probably would have preferred a more sexual experiment to be conducted in the back seat of his orbiting Tesla Roadster (now THERE’S some good work, but nobody can get it … yet), he’ll probably take any results he can get as he prepares his own long-term missions to Mars.
Sperms in Space. Great name for a band. Great name for porn parody. Great recruiting campaign for NASA.
Last week I wrote an article here at Mysterious Universe titled “Mind-Games At Area 51? 30 Years Later.” It was a look at the theory that famous UFO whistle-blower Bob Lazar may have been used and manipulated out at Area 51, in the latter part of 1988. Mind-controlled, maybe. In other words, there’s a distinct possibility that Lazar was used as a patsy in an operation to spread UFO disinformation – and with Lazar being oblivious to what was really going on around with him. As I noted in the previous article:
“If you take a look at all of the controversy surrounding Lazar’s claims, you will see that people – for the most part – fall into two specific categories. There are those who think Lazar’s claims are real and there are those who think it’s all a pile of crap. Few people ever give much thought to a third possibility. On this very point of another angle, I’m quite open to the idea that Lazar told the truth as he saw it, but the truth wasn’t what Lazar believed (and still believes) it to have been. Indeed, there are certain indications that Lazar was set-up.”
There is another issue that makes me think that Lazar had his mind played with. It revolves around certain briefing papers that Lazar said he read at Area 51’s S-4 facility and which were focused on startling, alleged secrets concerning an alien presence on Earth. One of those briefing papers, said Lazar, told a strange and almost sinister story of a violent confrontation between security personnel at Area 51 and a group of aliens that were in residence and working at S-4, alongside a scientific team. It was a confrontation that reportedly resulted in more than a few deaths.
According to Lazar, the deadly confrontation occurred at some point in 1979, in the S-4 facility. Lazar said: “I don’t remember exactly how it was started, but it had something to do with the security personnel. The aliens were in a separate room. I think it had something to do with the bullets [the security guards] were carrying, and somehow they were trying to be told that they couldn’t enter the area with the bullets, possibly because it was hazardous – the bullets could explode, through some field or whatever.”
Lazar continued that despite the warning, one of the security guards did enter the room with the bullets – something which resulted in a violent and lethal response from the aliens. Lazar recalled that the papers he read described how the security personnel were all quickly killed by “head wounds.” The same fate befell a group of scientists on the program, too.
It’s important to note that there is a variation on this story. Not from Lazar, who stuck to the story which he read out at S-4. But, from a man named Paul Bennewitz, who in the late 1970s began digging into claims that an alien base existed below the New Mexico town of Dulce. From intelligence personnel at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, Bennewitz learned of a story of a fatal encounter between hostile aliens and a security team in the lower levels of the Dulce Base. The different location given to Bennewitz is just about the only difference between what Lazar was told and what Bennewitz was told. It’s very important to note that there is very little doubt that Bennewitz was fed disinformation and not the real deal. Moving on…
Lazar also claimed to have read various papers out at S-4 which told how we, the human race, were the product of ancient extraterrestrials who had performed various “corrections” to early humans. On top of that, there were the papers that Lazar read at S-4 which said the aliens refer to us as what we would call “Containers.” But, containers of what? Well, that’s where things get really controversial: Lazar suggested it might have been the human soul that was of interest to the aliens. Lazar told KLAS-TV’s George Knapp that “religion was created so we have some rules and regulations for the sole purpose of not damaging the containers.”
George Knapp was not the only person who Bob Lazar spoke to on this issue of aliens, containers and souls. Michael Lindemann is the author of a 1995 book, UFOs and the Alien Presence. He also questioned Lazar on this controversy-dominated aspect of the story of Lazar and those papers he read at Area 51’s S-4. Lazar added a bit more to the story, when speaking with Lindemann. Lazar said the containers were “extremely, extremely unique” and that they were “very difficult to find.”
This is not the time to debate on UFOs, aliens and human souls. Rather, it’s time to address the matter of why, exactly, Lazar was shown this allegedly highly-classified material at all. Secrets within the fields of government, the military, and the intelligence community are successfully kept hidden because of what is termed “need to know.” In other words, if you’re working on a top secret program, you’re only told what you need to know to get your part of the job done. That’s how and why the Manhattan Project of the Second World War was so shrouded in secrecy. And so successfully too: people were briefed on matters relevant to their part of the job. And that’s it.
So, with that in mind, why on Earth would someone spill the whole can of UFO beans to Lazar? Given that he was said to have worked on matters relative to the power sources of the UFOs held at S-4, why share with Lazar all of the U.S. Government’s supposed UFO top secrets, such as matters relative to religion, the human soul, and “gunfight”-type confrontations with deadly ETs? Such data would not be in any way relevant to Lazar’s work undertaken on the extraterrestrial power-plants. It goes absolutely against tried and tested practices of the government to throw away its “need to know” approach. Yet, with Lazar we’re expected to believe that this then-young guy, then-recently brought into the program, should have been so extensively briefed on such incredible matters of – we should assume – national security proportions.
Unless, that is, someone decided to deliberately expose Lazar to faked alien-themed documents, hoping that he would go public with the content of those same documents – which, by the way, is exactly what he did.
Something strange is going on in Earth's upper atmosphere and a new mission aims to learn more about them.

Known as Transient Luminous Events (TLEs), these unusual features, called as jets, elves or sprites were first spotted by accident in 1989 and by using the ASIM, scientists hope to determine where in the cloud this phenomenon originate.

Bruce Cornet writes, Yes, David, your explanation makes sense. You asked about evidence for distance, and I give you the full image below. Also, the Russians experimented with plasma lights at the nose of their jet aircraft, but apparently the energy cost increased weight and maneuverability that reduced the advantage of eliminating the sonic boom.
David Mathes writes, Bruce, think of the plasma in front of the craft as a virtual aerospace that creates a detached shock wave to reduce aerodynamic and wave drag. One should be able to use the picture you have to show the distance from the craft. Drag reduction and overpressure suppression permit up to 10 times normal velocity which possibly explains going hypersonic (mach 5).
Normally, the craft would go from 380 mph (Mach 0.5) at higher than 20k ft to Mach 5. One would like to go faster and lower. By using an IR laser to create a channel and a focal point out front of the craft and then sending HV electricity down the channel, one is simply blasting away at the atmosphere in front.
So atmospheric supercavitation is being used by the craft to make a moving hole, reducing drag, and inducing only local turbulence effects.
The “plasma lights” are not headlights; they are a byproduct of the path clearing process that makes a hole or bubble in the atmosphere in which the craft can travel through.
By clearing the path ahead of molecules through ionization by laser-induced plasma heating, a lower density can be continuously created reducing the drag and permitting higher velocities.
However, the drawback is no turns and no maneuverability. That is, no aerodynamic traction by the craft. If one looks at hypersonic torpedoes, we see that traveling within the bubble permits velocities much higher than normal with the distinct disadvantage that steering is extremely challenging. The change in velocity from 30 mph to over 300 mph is a tactical game changer.

If UC Santa Barbara (Lubin) technology of a single laser source feeding distributed parallel amplifiers and array focus were applied using IR lasers, one could create a brilliant hole in front of a craft of lower density.
Bruce Cornet writes, Paul is correct. Why do these craft use plasma lights? If our ancestors saw what we are seeing today, they would have called the lights fire, even though they were produced by atmospheric ionization. Plasmas need gas to ionize. Nitrogen and Oxygen combine in our atmosphere to produce an orange-brown glowing gas.
In the Book of Enoch, he described what could be a chemical rocket launch, because he was taken up in a tower (gantry) to enter the crew cabin. The launch incinerated locals who got too close, even though warned to stay distant.
Then again, St. Anthony, a desert Egyptian ascetic living in a cave (2nd century CE), told of having his path blocked by a silver disc that landed in front of him. So perhaps there were more than one group visiting Earth, and the technologies they possessed were different. Many of the performances I was given near the UFO hot spot in Orange County, NY, would have appeared like FIRE IN THE SKY.
The rockets of old were contrived, designed and built by maturing civilizations evolving to higher levels of get-off-the-ground technologies. I agree with you about there being ancient civilizations capable of getting into space, going back 30K to 130K years ago. There were also wars both on Earth, in space, and on Mars (cf. Brandenburg) that involved atomic weapons. In our current cycle, WMD and chemical rockets came from war, not peace.

Bean remembered the victim entering a deep trance state and seeing a tall black entity in a doorway. After she awoke, her eyes were totally black, a sound like a rattlesnake emanated from her body, and she spoke in a deep masculine voice that questioned Bean’s faith and mocked his knowledge of the Bible, he revealed.

Bean explained how the woman, who only weighed 135 pounds but seemed endowed with superhuman strength, ripped a cross off his neck, grabbed his throat with an unbreakable grip, and could only be restrained after nine people held her down. He also described an incident involving the priest who was called to the scene. So Lucifer also known as cor the Devil was cast down from the planet Heaven to Earth, and some of the angels followed him by resisting God’s omniscient power and authority. Revelation 12:7-8 says, “And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.” Satan, with his army of fallen angels and demons, are determined to corrupt and destroy all that is good and godly. But for those who don’t have a Vatican-sanctioned exorcist nearby, there’s a sort of black market for ghost busters. One of those offering services is “The Sacred Order of Saint Michael the Archangel-Order of Exorcists”—and you can even order an exorcism online via a simple contact form, which they encourage the “family or person needing help” to use, reported PJ Media.
If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? Certainly not the Vatican—the Holy See’s switchboard is jammed with people wanting exorcisms.

A pilot told air traffic control it was “doubtful” it was a weather balloon, according to The Drive, an aviation website owned by Time Inc.
Lear Jet
TUCSON, AZ – One pilot seeing an unidentified flying object is often not hard to dismiss but two pilots in separate plane becomes a little more difficult. That’s what happened on February 24 in the air not far from Tucson as the two planes flew over Arizona and New Mexico.
One was a pilot for American Airlines and the other was a pilot of a Lear Jet..
The Lear jet pilot was the first to report something around 3:30 that afternoon, according to a report in The Drive, a website owned by Time, Inc. that reports on aviation issues.
He contacted the air traffic control tower in Albuquerque, New Mexico, asking them if they had tracked any traffic flying above him.
The tower said no, prompting the pilot to reply, “something’ did,” according to audio of the conversation posted by The Drive.
Another pilot can be heard saying,”UFO” and the pilot says, “yeah.”
Soon after, air traffic control contacts the pilot of the American Airlines plane, which is some distance behind the Lear Jet, telling him that another plane (the Lear) had seen something.
Had the American pilot seen anything?
“Something just passed over us,” the plot replies a few minutes later. “I don’t know what it was…. It passed right over the top of us.”
Asked if it could be a weather balloon, the pilot replies: “Doubtful.”
Arizona is no stranger to UFO sightings.
In 1997, it was the site of perhaps the largest mass sighting of a UFO ever recorded when thousands from Phoenix to Sonora reported seeing six lights flying in formation.

Royal Canadian Mint Releases UFO Coin
OTTAWA—The Royal Canadian Mint is releasing a limited-edition $20 coin to commemorate the unusual story of a Manitoba man’s close encounter with a flying saucer.
The one-ounce silver coin being released Tuesday immortalizes Stefan Michalak’s experience in Whiteshell Provincial Park, east of Winnipeg, more than 50 years ago.
Michalak said he suffered burns when he came across an unidentified flying object in what became known as the Falcon Lake incident in May 1967.

A UFO and the Greatest Miracle of the Bible
After a series of startling events Pharaoh’s son dies and in his grief Pharaoh gives permission for Moses to lead the Exodus of hundreds of thousands of Hebrew slaves away from Egypt in 1446 BC.
The exodus population were sustained by miracles: A Pillar of fire provided light; a cloud provided shelter from the sun and water (Isa 4:4-6); manna was provided for food, their clothes and shoes did not wear out; (Deut 8:4. )
17 When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.” 18 But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle. And they moved on from Succoth and encamped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness. 21
And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.
Crossing the Red Sea
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea. 3 For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ 4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” 6 So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him, 7 and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them. 8 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the people of Israel while the people of Israel were going out defiantly. 9
The Egyptians pursued them, all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamped at the sea, by Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
10 When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord. 11 They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.” 13 And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
15 The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. 16 Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.17 And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. 18And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
19 Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, 20 coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night[b] without one coming near the other all night.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.23
The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, 25 clogging[c] their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw[d] the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. 29 But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
After crossing the Red Sea, the Bible says they encountered the mountain of God or Mount Sinai which is in Saudi Arabia. The beach at Nuweiba is extremely large and could have accommodated a large number of people at the time of Moses and is the likely site for the crossing of Red Sea.
Interestingly, an underwater land bridge of comparatively shallow water exists at the crossing point.
King Solomon probably the greatest King of Israel had columns erected on both coasts 400 years after the miracle of the crossing of the Red Sea. King Solomon’s sea port was at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba at Eilat (I Kings 9:26) and he was very familiar with the Red Sea crossing site, as it was in his neighborhood. The Bible even mentions this column! Isaiah 19:19, “In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, (possible Pyramid) and a pillar to the Lord at its border.” You can visit the beaches today and see the columns in person.

Mexican Government ‘Assists Central Americans Headed for US
Cathy Burke reports, “National Border Patrol Council Union Chief Brandon Judd on Sunday condemned the Mexican government for turning a blind eye to a massive caravan of Central American refugees headed for the U.S. border”.
In remarks to Fox & Friends Sunday, Judd responded to a BuzzFeed News report on the caravan. According to BuzzFeed, some 1,200 Central Americans, organized by volunteers who call themselves Pueblos Sin Fronteras, have crossed immigration checkpoints, military bases and police in a march toward the United States unimpeded by Mexican authorities.
“First off, you have got a Mexican government entity that is assisting these individuals that are coming up to the United States,” Judd charged. “These individuals do not have passports or legal documents to be in Mexico, yet you got an agency that’s helping them get to our [U.S.] border.”
“Once they [the migrants] enter the country, even if we [border patrol agents] are standing at the border with our hands out saying, ‘Don’t enter, don’t enter,’ all they have to do is cross one foot into the border and we have to take them into custody. If they ask for asylum or say, ‘I fear to go back to my country,’ then we have to process them under ‘credible fear’ which allows them to be released into our country.”
Judd also decried the continuing “catch-and-release” program for illegal immigrants.
“When they cross the border legally the reason that they openly do it is because they know that the catch and release program continues today,” he said, asserting “they’ll never see those deportation proceedings.” He said Immigration Customs Enforcement agents “process them and they’ll release them with a notice to appear in which they’re supposed to present themselves before an immigration judge about two years from now. But they never show up for their deportation proceedings,” he said.
A new report claims the President has cancelled the catch and release program immediately.
Judd said there was a drop in illegal entries after President Donald Trump’s election — but no longer.

2017 DEA Drug Threat Report: has been made public and Mexico is the greatest heroin source with most coming across our border with Mexico from 6 major cartels. The 182 page comprehensive report covers twenty sections. Heroin-involved overdose deaths more than quadrupled between 2010 and 2015, with the most recent data indicating that heroin alone was involved in more than a thousand deaths of mostly young people a month.

Approximately 70% of all illicit drugs consumed in the United States are trafficked through Mexico, TCOs, and have expanded their control over the drug-trafficking conducted by criminal street gangs in their respective territories. Zetas: Juan Gerardo Treviño-Chávez is leading the cartel. BLO: Fausto Isídro Meza-Flores, alias Chapo Isidro remains a subgroup with BLO, and BLO subgroups depend on alliances with CJNG, Zetas and Juárez to access drug corridors.
Mexican TCOs maintain the greatest drug trafficking influence in the United States, with continued signs of growth and expansion. By controlling lucrative smuggling corridors, primarily across the Southwest Border, Mexican TCOs export significant quantities of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and fentanyl into the U.S. annually. Once these illicit drugs are smuggled into the U.S., they are delivered to user markets through transportation routes and distribution cells that are managed d by Mexican TCOs.

As of 2016, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) assesses the following six Mexican TCOs, as controlling the drug trafficking in the on the U.S making an estimated 80 Billion dollars in profits each year to buy politicians, police and judges.: Sinaloa Cartel, Jalisco New Generation Cartel (Cartel Jalisco Nue a Generación, or CJNG), Juarez Cartel, Gulf Cartel, Los Zetas Cartel, and Beltran-Ley a Organization. Heroin Overview-The most deadly threat is due to fentanyl
Heroin poses a serious public health and safety threat to the United States. Overdose deaths, already exceed a thousand+ young Americans per month. The increasing adulteration of heroin with analogues of the highly-potent synthetic opioid fentanyl and other synthetic opioids has exacerbated this situation. Poppy cultivation and heroin production levels in Mexico, the primary source of heroin for the U.S. market, continue to increase. The heroin supply in white powder markets in the eastern U.S, is highly pure, inexpensive, and increasingly adulterated with fentanyl.. While the size of the heroin user population is smaller than other major drugs, heroin is highly deadly to its users. Heroin is now commonly adulterated with fentanyl, making it even more deadly to its user population.
The Drug poisoning of Americans continues to increase
The United States has seen substantial increases in heroin availability in the last seven to 10 years, which has allowed the heroin threat to expand to unprecedented levels. Rapid increases in heroin production in Mexico since 2015 have ensured a reliable supply of low-cost heroin. The DEA field divisions with the highest percentage of respondents choosing heroin as the greatest drug threat are: Philadelphia FD (84.2%), New Jersey FD (84.2%), New York FD (76.9%), New England FD (65.0%), Detroit FD (64.2%), Chicago FD (54.6%), and Washington FD (47.2%). Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the US in 2016, with 52,404 deaths .Additionally, many killings and robberies are tied to the desperate need for money to buy the drugs. By the end of his presidency on January 20, 2017, Barack Obama had exercised his constitutional power to grant executive clemency—that is, “pardon, to 1,927 individuals convicted of federal crimes. Most individuals granted executive clemency by Obama had been convicted on drug charges. Many of the illegal immigrants are forced to bring in heroin by the Mexican Cartels, An estimated 84,000 deaths from drug overdose occurred in 2017.
In comparison the U.S. first invaded Afghanistan on October 7, 2001, as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. US military deaths over sixteen years of fighting in the War in Afghanistan as of October 2017 have now reached.1,834 about ten deaths per month as the result of hostile action. Roughly the number lost in Philadelphia drug overdoses each year. The Mexican drug war is not covered by the news media and kills thousands of young people each month.
