The footage shows a series of orbs hovering in the night sky.

The lights in Morocco are similar to the mysterious lights captured on Milwaukee TV News in February 2018 which was said to have been birds.

The Clarke exobelt, a method to search for possible extraterrestrial civilizations

Finding life in other parts of the universe has been one of humanity's constant dreams. For the first time in history the scientific community has hopes based on some degree of possibility that this dream will become a reality in the not too distant future. This is, in part, due to the new generation of giant telescopes, presently in the planning phase, which we hope to be able to make a detailed analysis of the atmospheres of planets beyond the Solar System. For this reason researchers are making efforts to investigate "biomarkers", which is the term for observable evidence which we could use to give us firm evidence of life on these planets.

However, one thing is to find some form of life, but another, very different, is to find intelligent civilizations, or technological capacity, which seems much less likely. To start with we don't know whom we are looking for, we lack "technomarkers" (the analogues of biomarkers, but which reveal the presence of technology). Since the 80's of the last century there have been searches for radio signals from other civilizations, so far unsuccessful. This is hardly surprising if we remember that the radio emissions from a society such as ours would not be detectable at interstellar distances, unless they were deliberately focused in the direction of the receiver. In the scientific literature there have been proposals to look for technomarkers, for instance the well known "Dyson Spheres" which would be hypothetical artificial megastructures constructed around a star to collect its light and thereby supply the need for energy of a civilization much more advanced than ours.

In an article published in The Astrophysical Journal by the IAC researcher Hector Socas proposed a new technomarker, which is characterized by the fact that it could be produced by present day technology on Earth. There is a very interesting region in space around planets called the "Clarke Belt" in honour of Arthur C. Clarke who in 1945 published an article about the use of geostationary orbits for telecommunications. In this belt orbit the geostationary satellites which we use for a large number of practical applications.

The publication presents a variety of simulations of "Clarke exobelts" to investigate what would be the imprint they would leave on the light of the parent star as the planet transits across its disk. The optimum conditions for observing them are found for planets in orbit round red dwarf stars, which are also the best places to look for exoplanets in general. In the article published in The Astrophysical Journal details are given of how these artificial belts can be distinguished from natural rings. Using this technique current projects and space missions designed to detect exoplanets and their moons and rings could also be used to detect this marker. "It is a search which we will have for nothing" says Hector Socas, and he adds "We have to keep our eyes open, just in case we detect this traces in the data".

Humanity's Clarke Belt (our geostationary and geosynchronous satellites) is not densely populated enough to be detected at interstellar distances, at least with our present observing capabilities. Around two thirds of existing satellites are in the region termed "low orbit", which means the first few hundred kilometres above the Earth, where space debris is already a significant problem. The Clarke belt orbit is it 36,000 km above the Earth, and it is so far much less populated, but the article shows that during recent decades the density of satellites in these orbits has been growing exponentially. If this rate continues our Clarke belt would be detectable from other stars by the year 2200.

The rate could even be speeded up if access to these orbits was reduced in cost, for example by the new reusable rockets, or by the construction of a future space lift. Or it could be slowed down if technological advance looked for other priorities. In any case there is an active debate about whether humanity should actively send messages into space or whether, on the contrary, we ought to listen discreetly without revealing our presence. "In this context, the exponential increase in our population of satellites could end up by becoming a signal which gives us away, whether we like it or not. This is a point which should be taken into account in this debate" says Socas.

Faced with the question of whether one day we will discover an "Clarke exobelt", and thereby find an extraterrestrial civilization, the researcher gives his vies that "It seems unlikely, but it costs nothing to take a look. It is as if someone gave you a lottery ticket. You know that it is very unlikely that you will win, but as you have it you check up on the result, just in case".

“Why Is It So Difficult For People To Believe In Extraterrestrial Beings?”

Have you ever quietly sat for a moment and really thought about Earth, and how it seems to just magically and properly, hang there in space, without falling into some celestial abyss? Seriously, think about it for a moment . . . close your eyes for a minute or two, and guide yourself high above the Earth so you are looking down upon it. What’s holding it up and in place? For that matter, what’s holding any of the planets and stars in their rightful, possibly, intentional, spot, in the universe?

Now, given that there are millions of galaxies in the universe, which hold millions of stars and planets, isn’t it presumptuous and narcissistic, to believe that we (humans), are the only, for the most part, intelligent, beings, in the universe? Hundreds of thousands, possibly, millions, of people around the world, believe that “extraterrestrial” beings, exist, and have been visiting earth for millennia. Many of these same people, also believe that “star beings,” walk among us every day and most of us are completely unaware of their presence.

Yes, I am one of those “believers,” even though to my knowledge, I have never seen or met one. Although, now that I think of it, there have been a few people I’ve met, who could have definitely been “space visitors.” Take some time and research the subject. I think it might surprise you how many legitimate, sightings, have been documented, both written and recorded. It should come as no surprise, either, that governments around the globe, have known for centuries, that “extraterrestrials and UFO’s” are quite real, but absolutely, refuse, to admit to the public, that they exist. What are they afraid of?

Do they think we can”t handle the truth? Do they think society will break down, and mass chaos, will erupt? Or, is it they are so manipulated, and controlled by “religions,” who adamantly, refuse, to let the “governments” of the world, broadcast the truth to the people? Enough already . . . “extraterrestrials and UFO’s exist,” get over yourselves, get over it, it’s no big deal! With the explosion of cell phones and the “internet,” there have been hundreds and hundreds of actual, recorded sightings, that can’t be disregarded as “fake or CGI” That doesn’t mean that fakes and forgeries, don’t exist, of course they do, but I’m talking reality here.

UFOs Over Mexico

At the beginning of this podcast was the introduction from the first Mexican documentary on UFOs.  It was not a television show or a movie, but a thirty three and a third 12-inch vinyl record titled “El Enigma de los OVNIs,” or in English, “The UFO Enigma.”  It was recorded in the late 1960s by two Mexican UFO researchers, Jorge Raiger and Ramiro Garza. 

The recording was re-released in 2015 and according to many Latin American UFO buffs and serious investigators alike, the breakthrough audio documentary has stood the test of time.  For those needing a translation, the announcer at the beginning talks about how a public relations director at NASA in the United States has recently revealed that for quite some time we have been visited by flying saucers and they are interplanetary and that we have been observed be beings from outer space.  The recording continues, going deep into the 1960s research about the UFO phenomenon.  Here on “Mexico Unexplained” we will carry the torch of Raiger and Garza and continue with the story of UFOs over Mexico and the various occurrences associated with their mysterious appearances.

Theories of ancient astronauts and the extraterrestrial origins of ancient Mexican civilizations began to pop up in the mid- to late-1960s, around the same time as the “Enigma” recording.  Books like Chariots of the Gods? and The Outer Space Connection were published decades ago and propose that Mexico has been visited by off-world intelligences for millennia.  We will concentrate on the modern UFO phenomenon as it applies to Mexico in this show.  As mentioned in Episode # 42 of “Mexico Unexplained” titled “José and the Skyfish,” the first reported Mexican UFO sighting in modern times came from the Zacatecas Observatory in August of 1883. 

Astronomer José Bonilla was studying the sun and he recorded and photographed over 300 dark and unknown objects crossing the sun’s surface.  Other than hot air balloons, there was no form of aircraft around at the time to explain away Doctor Bonilla’s observation.  The movements of these objects suggested something organic, but as it has not yet been determined what these objects actually were, they remain to this day unidentified flying objects, or UFOs.

The modern UFO phenomenon in Mexico seemed to run a parallel course to its counterpart in the United States.  UFOs in the shape of flying saucers, called platillos volantes in Spanish, began to appear in Mexican skies in the 1940s and 1950s, much as they did in the skies over the United States.  Before the flying saucer epoch, Mexico had very few reports of strange objects in the sky. 

There were a few stories of mysterious cigar-shaped craft, but they were often dismissed as zeppelin prototypes coming from the US or Germany.  The metallic, disc-shaped platillosseemed to dominate the Mexican skies for a few decades.  It has only been in the last 30 years of the 20^th Century that UFOs have taken on other appearances.  Everything from blinking lights, to geometrical shapes like cubes and orbs, to squid-like objects, to dark triangles.  These mysterious objects have been solo or have been classified as “fleets” when a handful or more have been found flying together in some sort of formation.  There have been several “mothership” sightings, as well.  A notable one occurred on October 11, 2014 over Mexico City during which observers saw and filmed a massive object in the sky and several smaller ships around it.  In May of the previous year, a cigar-shaped mothership also appeared over Mexico’s capital and it seemed to “drop” smaller orbs into the sky before taking off.

It is important to note how many sightings have occurred over Mexico City and why.  As one of the most populated urban centers on earth with almost 25 million people living there, there are many eyes available to look toward the sky.  A “mass sighting” over Mexico’s capital city may involve tens of thousands of people, if not more.  With more and more people living in the Valley of Mexico and with more and more people equipped with cameras ready-made on their cel phones, it seems like the sightings are ever more frequent.  It may be that unknown objects in the skies above Mexico City have always been there and have always been this frequent, but now there are just more eyes and more recording devices.  The biggest mass sighting in Mexico City came almost 2 decades before most people had cel phones, in 1991. 

On July 11, 1991 Mexico City was preparing for what was called “The Eclipse of the Millennium.”  A total eclipse of the sun lasting 6 minutes and 45 seconds was to occur over the Mexican capital city in early afternoon.  With people looking to the sky numbering into the millions, according to some estimates, hundreds of thousands of people noticed a shiny metal object hovering in the near distance a few minutes into the eclipse.  It was metallic, disc-shaped and rotated.  Guillermo Arreguín, a cameraman for the Mexican television network Televisa, who was filming the eclipse, got footage of the object.  It was broadcast on Mexican television later that night.  After that broadcast 17 other people came forward with similar videocam footage recorded from various parts of the city.  With so many people looking up to observe the eclipse, this July 11, 1991 sighting may be the most observed UFO experience in human history.

A very curious phenomenon with regard to UFOs in Mexico is the strange frequency that UFOs are observed flying in and out of volcanoes.  Three volcanoes of note with such sightings are Nevado de Toluca, the Colima volcano and the massive Popcatépetl, which looms in the distance over Mexico City.  All of these volcanoes are located in central Mexico.  In January of 2014 a glowing orb was filmed rising in and out of the caldera of Nevado de Toluca.  The Mexico City volcano, nicknamed “Popó,” has had the most UFO sightings connected with it than any other volcano.  In the year 2013 alone there were sightings recorded in every month of that year.  The Colima volcano and Popó have been further scrutinized by the emergence of a website in 2011 called “Webcams de Mexico.”  This site provides live footage of these volcanoes and many UFOS have been spotted going in and out of these mountains by the cameras connected with this web site.  This web cam site is also responsible for other UFO footage taken throughout Mexico at various other locales.  Online there is ample footage of mysterious objects taken from these live webcams.

The most well-known UFO-related incident in Mexico happened in the state of Chihuahua in 1974 when a large metallic disc supposedly crashed into a small private plane.  The story is pretty detailed and you can learn all about it in episode # 31 of Mexico Unexplained titled “The Flying Saucer Crash at Coyame:  A Mexican Roswell?”  Another famous Mexican plane-related incident happened in May of 1975.  Carlos Antonio de los Santos was flying his small private plane over the town of Tequesquitengo in the state of Morelos when three metallic objects only about 8 feet in diameter – I guess we would call these platillitos volantes – took control of his aircraft.  One hovered below the fuselage and one over each wing.  De los Santos landed without incident and with no harm to his aircraft or his person.

No exploration of UFOs or extraterrestrial visitation would be complete without examining the abduction phenomenon.  In this phenomenon abductees, or “experiencers,” are taken aboard alien spacecraft and experimented upon, taken for rides or given information or messages for humanity.  The first American case of alleged alien abduction happened in New England in 1961 to Betty and Barney Hill.  The first major abduction case in the entire world, according to most UFO researchers, occurred in Brazil to a farmer named Antônio Vilas Boas in 1957. 

However, there was an obscure case that happened in Mexico in 1953, a full 4 years before the Brazilian abduction.  In August of that year, so the story goes, a taxi driver named Salvador Villanueva Medina was on his way to the border town of Laredo traveling on an obscure road in northern Mexico.  His car broke down and out of the sagebrush appeared a being with long blond hair, light eyes and a sleek body with milky skin.  Medina asked if the person was American and the being told him that he was from the planet Venus.  He stood there talking to Medina and described his home world. 

There was one ocean, there was one government.  Children were in the care of the government until they reached maturity.  There were no wars and the whole world was under one flag.  Medina did not believe the blond being, known in the UFO terminology as a “Nordic,” so the being invited him to see his spacecraft which was parked over a hill.  Medina followed him and over the hill he saw the typical disc-shaped metallic craft resting on metal legs so that the underbelly would not touch the ground.  The Venusian asked Medina if he would like to take a trip in the saucer.  The humble Mexican taxi driver agreed. 

The flight through space was quick and Medina stayed on Venus for 5 days, experiencing what the blond being had described to him on that back road in Mexico.  Medina then returned home and wrote a book about his trip titled Estuve en el planeta venus, in English, I Was on the Planet Venus, only available in Spanish.  After publication, Medina suffered much derision and ostracism from family and friends.  He visited a psychiatrist who did not find him to be delusional. 

By anyone’s measure, this seems like a fanciful story.  At the time – the decade of the 1950s – many people believed that Venus was an inhabited world.  Many believed that Medina’s story was just a made up tale to capitalize on the nascent interest in other planets and the possibility of space travel.  In any case, the Medina incident is the first reportedly documented alien abduction ever to be publicized, although it did not make it very far out of Mexico. 

Was it real? 

Many have a hard time believing it or anything else connected with extraterrestrials.  But what of the objects in the sky?  As with all topics here on Mexico Unexplained, we leave the ponderings, ruminations and further investigations up to you.

The Mexican Air Force vs. the Flying Saucers

April 21^st 2004 was an important day for Jaime Maussán, the white-haired and white-bearded host of the Mexican television show Tercer Milenio.  He had gotten the scoop of his career.  Since 1970 Maussán had distinguished himself as one of the leading journalists in Mexico, having worked for many newspapers and broadcasting outlets primarily as an investigative reporter focusing on science and environmental issues.  In the early 1990s Maussán’s interests turned toward UFOs on a show he co-hosted called Y usted que opina? 

This show was the first step on a long path that would eventually lead him to become known as a top expert in Mexico on unidentified flying objects, or OVNIs, in Spanish.  As one of the principal ufologists in the country, it was logical for Jaime Maussán to have such an important meeting on that day in April of 2004.  It was then when he met with General Gerardo Clemente Vega García, Mexico’s Minister of Defense who was appointed to the position by Mexican President Vicente Fox in the year 2000.  It was an important day for General Vega, too.  The career army officer had served Mexico well as a military attaché abroad in such countries as Poland, West Germany and the Soviet Union.  In his very long and distinguished career in service for Mexico the general had never had such a strange task fall in his lap.  In the meeting with Maussán, the Defense Minister asked the journalist if he could get his help in analyzing a strange batch of video footage and audio clips. 

General Vega wanted Señor Maussán’s help in investigating the incident behind this footage:  On March 5^th 2004, just weeks before their meeting, a Mexican Air Force anti-drug trafficking surveillance flight over the coast of the Mexican state of Campeche had a strange encounter with 11 orbs of light that flew around the aircraft.  Maussán was honored and a bit astounded that the Mexican government would come to him for help with their investigation.  He realized at the time that his meeting with the general was somewhat historic.  In all his years of research, Maussán had never known of a case in which a national government of any country went beyond the mere acknowledgement of the existence of UFOs and asked for civilian help in trying to understand the phenomenon.  Maussán had a great scoop, and a great burden, and on May 11^th 2004 he took part in a press conference announcing to the world the news and the details of the historic partnership.

So, what exactly happened that night over the Gulf of Mexico?

The date was March 5^th 2004.  The time was between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.  The location where the objects begin to appear is marked at 18 degrees, 26 minutes and 60 seconds north latitude, and 90 degrees, 43 minutes and 69 seconds west longitude.  The Merlin C26A Bimotor airplane, part of the Mexican Air Force’s 501 Aerial Squadron, was flying at 10,500 feet, near Ciudad del Carmen off the coast of the Mexican state of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico.  

The plane was staffed by a captain and two lieutenants, who were responsible for operating the radar and infrared systems onboard the plane.  The range of the radar was approximately 50 miles.  The range for the infrared system was between -40°C and 1,500°C.  Visibility was at 96% and weather conditions were calm, with no storms nearby or in the forecast for the evening.  The airplane was only used for surveillance and detection.  It was not commissioned for combat or intercept maneuvers.  The purpose for flights like these was to identify suspicious and possibly drug-related aircraft, report the activity to the ground base and then Air Force planes would be scrambled to intercept whatever unauthorized plane was in the area.

At 5:00 the first object appeared on the plane’s radar and was confirmed with infrared but was not visible with the naked eye.  The captain of the plane radioed the ground to tell the base that they had identified a possible suspect and to maintain interceptor planes at alert status while they flew closer to investigate.  As the Air Force plane got closer to the object, the object accelerated.  The incident was being recorded by the radar and the infrared device, and the plane was in constant communication with the ground providing detailed descriptions of what they were experiencing.  The captain of the plane was perplexed because they still were not able to establish visual contact. 

The object briefly disappeared from their detection devices when it was joined by another.  The pilot maneuvered the plane in a circular direction to get a better view of the two orb-like lights when something unexpected occurred:  the two objects they had been tracking were joined by even more objects.  Out of nowhere, 9 more flying balls of light appeared, the same size and sharing the same characteristics of the first two, and seemed to fly in formation.  What was even stranger than 9 objects appearing so suddenly was their apparent invisibility to the naked eye.  As with the first two, these 9 new objects were only visible on radar and through the infrared detection equipment. 

The pilot of the plane radioed the base to ask for further instructions.  In the meantime he cut out all the lights to his aircraft to try to see if that would make visual contact easier but they still could not see the objects without the instruments.  By that time the 11 objects had maneuvered around the aircraft.  At around the time interceptor planes were to be scrambled on the ground, the objects flew away, disappearing off the radar and infrared sensors.

When the crew landed the debriefing began.  All instrument recordings were turned over to the Mexican Department of Defense and the Campeche case got the attention of the highest levels of military and government in Mexico.  After weeks of examining the in-flight recordings, multiple interviews with the flight crew and analysis of the weather-related data from that evening, the Minister of Defense, General Vega, made the decision to seek outside help.  Going to television ufologist Jaime Maussán was a giant leap in the UFO field because, as stated before, it was one of the first times in history when a sovereign government of a country not only acknowledged the existence of UFOs, but solicited help from the private sector to aid in an investigation. 

On Sunday, May 9^th 2004, on his show, which was then called, Los Grandes Misterios del Tercer Milenio, or in English, “The Big Mysteries of the Third Millennium,” Jaime Maussán announced his collaboration with the Mexican military in this case.  He also announced that further details would be shared with the public at a press conference to be held on May 11^th 2004 at the Sevilla Palace Hotel in Mexico City.

The Campeche incident generated a lot of attention both inside Mexico and abroad, and as with many UFO sightings this case found itself on the receiving end of harsh criticism almost immediately.  Many theories arose to try to explain what exactly happened over the Gulf of Mexico in March of 2004. Debunkers were then answered by counter-debunkers who shot holes in supposed air-tight “rational” explanations.  The most famous round of debunking came from Americans. 

Ben McGee, resident skeptic on the National Geographic Channel’s show Chasing UFOs, elaborated on a theory proposed by previous researchers and alleged that what the Mexican Air Force personnel had experienced had a more terrestrial explanation.  McGee believed that what their instruments were seeing were really fires from the tops of oil rigs on platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and he was determined to prove it.  For the National Geographic show, McGee took a plane and similar equipment the Mexicans used and demonstrated how the pilot and the crew had mistaken the distant fires for UFOs, even claiming that the swirling of the clouds that night gave the impression that these stationary fires were moving and that they were higher than what would have expected. 

What was shown on Chasing UFOs and in subsequent lectures by McGee seemed like an open-and-shut case and a thorough analysis which satisfied many people in the skeptic circles.  More critical eyes saw flaws in what Ben McGee was saying.  How would oil rig fires show up on radar?  The experienced flight crew, who had logged thousands of hours in the air, had reported movement of the objects.  Wouldn’t they know the difference between something stationary and something moving outside the plane?  Why were oil fires, which would seemingly be visible at night from a plane, not visible to the flight crew with the naked eye?  One investigator noted that the oil rigs were 100 miles away from the plane and would not have shown up on any of their instruments anyway because they were way out of range.  And what of other sightings?  If these bright objects were really the oil rigs, wouldn’t other pilots in the area have reported similar experiences?  No such stories exist. 

In spite of the debunking and the debunking of the debunkers, the Mexican military working with the country’s top ufologist, Jaime Maussán, could not come up with an explanation for what happened in the skies off the cost of Campeche in March of 2004 and this was after months of research and the solicitation of help of dozens of experts.  So, it seems we are back to square one.  Perhaps we are just left with a mystery and no one will ever know who or what was behind those lights in the sky, that is, unless they return…

THERE I WAS: THE X-FILES EDITION

A good buddy of mine and former squadron mate, Dave “Sex” Fravor, has one of the most bizarre aviation stories of all time.  It is a story that stretches credibility, so I’ll start off by building up Dave’s bona fides.

For what it’s worth, I know him personally — very well.  We flew A-6s together for a cruise back in the Dark Ages before he matriculated into the Hornet world.  He’s a funny guy.  Smart and sharp witted, with a typical fighter pilot’s overestimation of his skills. (He’d read the SHB article and assured me his was way better than anything Nasty could do.  I called B.S.–pretty standard.)  In the air, though, Dave was all business, as professional as it gets.

It’s easy to get a sense of who and what he is because his squadron was featured on the 10-part miniseries Carrier that aired on PBS.  You get an excellent and accurate impression of him from his screen time as Commanding Officer of VFA-41.

On the morning of 14 November 2004, Dave and his WSO launched into the clear blue Southern California sky about a hundred miles southwest of San Diego.  Their Call Sign was FASTEAGLE 01.  His wingman and WSO launched just after them in FASTEAGLE 02.  They climbed overhead the ship and rendezvoused in normal fashion before setting off to their assigned work area in the open ocean south of USS Nimitz.  Normal day, normal ops for the pre-deployment work up cycle they were in the middle of.

The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group had been on station for a few weeks already, working to integrate the operations of the carrier with her various support ships, including the Ticonderoga Class Guided Missile Cruiser, USS Princeton.   As far as Dave was concerned, it was a standard day in a normal work up cycle.  Another step in the long journey in preparing the ships of the Strike Group and the planes of the Air Wing to work harmoniously for their upcoming combat deployment.

What Dave didn’t know was for the past several days, Princeton had been picking up some bizarre returns on their Death Star-worthy SPY-1 radar.  On several occasions beginning 10 November, the Fire Control Officer and the extremely experienced Fire Control Senior Chief had detected multiple returns descending from far above the radar’s scan volume–somewhere higher than 80,000 ft.  The targets, dubbed Anomalous Aerial Vehicles (AAVs), would drop from above 80K to hover roughly 50 feet off the water in a matter of seconds.

Always over the same spot, a Lat/Long about 30NM off the coast of Baja, roughly 70nm southwest of Tijuana.  At the time, the SPY-1 was the most sophisticated and powerful tactical radar on the planet.  With it, they were able to track these AAVs while they descended, hovered and then zipped away at speeds, turn rates and accelerations faster than any known friendly or threat aircraft.  Impossibly fast.

Once the Air Wing’s planes arrived aboard Nimitz, the Fire Control team on Princeton saw an opportunity to use those assets and eyeballs to help solve the AAV mystery.

At the same time FASTEAGLE flight was wrapping up its scheduled training, the CO of Marine Hornet squadron VMFA-232, Lieutenant Colonel “Cheeks” Kurth, was completing a post-maintenance check flight not too far away.  He was the first fast-mover contacted by Princeton.  The communication was strange and intriguing.   He was asked to investigate an unidentified airborne contact.  This wasn’t a terribly unusual request while a Strike Group was in transit or deployed far from home waters, but it was more than a little strange practically in sight of the San Diego Homeport.  To add to the unusual communications, he was queried as to what ordinance he had on board.

“None.”

While Princeton was communicating with Cheeks, they were also attempting to hand off their AAV contact to the Air Wing’s E-2C Hawkeye, also airborne at the time.  The crew from VAW-117 had been providing intercept control for FASTEAGLE flight during their training.  Princeton now wanted the E-2 to guide the Super Hornets to an intercept with the AAV contact, currently hovering over their favorite spot, but now about 20,000 feet over the ocean.

The AAV returns had not been strong enough to show up on the E-2’s broad sweep, but once they focused their radar on the coordinates Princeton directed them towards, they managed a faint contact.  The radar returns from the contact weren’t enough to generate a target track however, so Princeton cut the E-2 from control and contacted FASTEAGLE directly.  Though he was unable to lock up the AAVs, the E-2 controller remained on frequency and listened to the entire ensuing evolution.

As Cheeks approached the spot he was being vectored to, Princeton advised him to stay above 10K as the section of Super Hornets were approaching the target.  His radar picked up the FASTEAGLE two-ship, but no other contacts.  A moment later Princeton directed him to “skip it” and return to the ship.  Since he was so close, he decided to fly over the action and sneak a peek.

The sea was calm, almost glassy smooth and it was late morning on a beautiful SoCal day.  Perfect conditions.  As Cheeks flew over the spot he saw a disturbance on the surface of the ocean.  A round section of turbulent water about 50-100 meters in diameter.  It was the only area and type of what he called, “whitewater” describing that it looked as if there was something below the surface like a shoal or what he’d heard a ship sinking rapidly would look like.

He overflew the disturbance and circled back in the direction of Nimitz without ever seeing what caused the water to froth.  As he turned away, which happened to be the moment the Super Hornets converged on the location, the whitewater cleared and the ocean surface returned to its smooth state.  The spot of the previous disturbance was completely indiscernible.

A few thousand feet below him, Dave had gone though the similar surreal experience of being asked by Princeton if the FASTEAGLE jets were carrying any ordnance.  Dave’s baffled WSO reported that all they had were two captive-carry training missiles.  They were given bearing and range vectors to a set of coordinates and told to investigate an unknown aerial contact over that spot.

With no further information on the contact, they descended to the low 20s and scanned with radar, picking nothing up.  Neither plane in this flight was carrying a FLIR pod, which limited the type of sensors they could search with; but, both planes were brand new–in Dave’s words, “They still had that new car smell.”  The APG-73 radars were both new and had performed perfectly during the previous hour’s training.  Yet the screens from both planes were clean all the way to the point Princeton called “Merge plot!”

All four aircrew were eyes out from this point forward.  The first unusual indication Dave picked up was the area of whitewater on the surface that Cheeks was looking at over his shoulder as he flew away.  He remembers thinking it was about the size of a 737 and maybe the contact they had been vectored on had been an airliner that had just crashed.  He maneuvered his F-18 lower to get a better look.  As he was descending through about 20K he was startled by the sight of a white object that was moving about just over the frothing water.  It was all white, featureless, oblong and making minor lateral movements while staying at a consistent low altitude over the disk of turbulent water.

Dave put FASTEAGLE 02 into high cover passing through about 15K and she and her WSO witnessed the events from a perfect vantage point.  Dave continued his dive lower towards the object, now also attempting to slave the radar through his HMCS to achieve a short range lock.  No luck.  His intention was to pass the object close aboard at about 350 kts, but as he got closer he noticed that the AAV had oriented one of its skinny ends towards him, as if, in his words, “It had just noticed us” and it was now pointing at them.

The AAV then began to rise from its hover.  The object, which he would later describe as a while tic-tac, rose in right 2-circle flow about a mile cross-circle from Dave’s Hornet.  BFM instincts took over and Dave dug nose-low to cut across the bottom of the circle.  As he was looking at the AAV and pulling his nose up to bear, the tried again to slave his radar via the HMCS.  Again, the APG-73 was unable to lock on the white, fighter-sized flying object now just a couple of thousand feet away and closing.

All through these maneuvers, Dave’s WSO was broadcasting the real-time events of the intercept to Princeton.  The radar operators in the E-2 listened on the secure net to what sounded like one of the hundreds of intercepts they had heard over the years.  With the notable exception that the aircrew’s voices were more stressed and the verbiage to ID the target was unlike anything they had heard before.

In his debrief comments, Dave, his WSO and the two other crews stated the object had initially been hovering like a Harrier.  They described it as uniformly white, about 46  feet long (roughly fighter-sized), having a discernible midline horizontal axis (like a fuselage) but having no visible windows, nacelles, wings or propulsion systems.

As Dave was pulling for nose-on and trying to get a dogfight lock with his radar, the AAV tightened its turn, “lift vector on, then aft” as Dave described, passed behind his tail and accelerated away at multi-Mach speed.  Dave immediately queried Princeton for a snap-vector but the SPY-1 radar had also lost the contact.  The first calls from Princeton were “picture clean.”  A few moments later Princeton came back with, “You’re not going to believe this, it’s at your CAP.”  Princeton had picked up the AAV hovering at 24K at the assigned Lat/Long Dave had used earlier during training as his orbiting point.

Though low on gas, the FASTEAGLE flight swung through the CAP position to try and pick up the AAV again.  They saw nothing more on their way back to Nimitz.  Even the 100 meter circle of turbulent ocean water had disappeared.  That spot was now indistinguishable from the rest of the sea’s surface.  Asked later, Dave reported that he had not seen anything on or below the surface of the ocean that may have caused the turbulent circle of water.  It had existed when they had first visually acquired the tic-tac, then was gone when they circled back a few minutes later.

Back on Nimitz after recovery, the four crew headed down to the paraloft to remove their gear.  The next four crews from VFA-41 were getting dressed for their training mission to the same area, using the same assigned Lat/Longs as CAP points.  Dave and his crewmembers passed on what they had seen to the new guys and reminded them to get tape if they could.

By the time the new crew launched, rendezvoused and checked in with the E-2 for control, it was early afternoon; 1500.  The planes separated, with one heading to that same southern CAP location.  They were cruising along at 20K and 300kts, max endurance.  Again, the jet, radar and also, this time, the FLIR were spanking new and operating perfectly.

The WSO first picked up a contact on the radar around 30nm away while it was operating in the RWS scan mode.  He checked the coordinates and it was indeed hovering at their precise CAP point.  He attempted several STT locks, to no avail.  Later, in the debrief, he explained that he had multiple telltale cues of EA.

The target aspect on the track file was turning through 360 degrees along with some other distinct  jamming indications.  In the less precise scan mode, the return indicated that the object was, in the WSO’s words, “A few thousand feet below us.  Around 15-20K– but hovering stationary.”  The only movement was generated by the closure of the fighter to the CAP location.

The WSO resorted to the FLIR pod on board, slaving it to the weak track the RWS mode had been able to generate.  He recorded the following sequence to the on-board recorder.  Using the IR mode, he was able to lock onto the AAV.  It showed up on his screen and on tape as a white object in a black background hovering with no known means.

The IR camera did not detect roiling hot gasses blasting from below the AAV, as they would with a Harrier or a helicopter.  It was simply hanging in midair.  He switched to the TV mode and was able to again lock the FLIR onto the object while still trying, with no luck, to get a STT track on the radar.  As he watched it, the AAV moved out of his screen to the left so suddenly it almost seemed to disappear.  On the tape, when it is slowed down, the object accelerates out of the field of view with shocking speed.  The WSO was not able to reacquire the AAV either in RWS or with the FLIR.

Somehow the tape made its way to YouTube.  A few years after the incident, when first telling me the story, Dave pointed me to the link.  It was unremarkable without the background information.  But folded into context it was amazing, especially the slow-mo of the dot accelerating out of screen.  For years I told the story to friends and showed them the video as punctuation.

However last month when I called Dave to refresh my memory before sitting down to write this bizarre encounter, he informed me that the video had been removed from YouTube.  He told me that a government agency with a three letter identifier had recently conducted an investigation into the AAVs and had exhaustively interviewed all parties involved.

All of the seven flight crew, including 6 aircrew from VFA-41 and Cheeks from VMFA-232.  The Fire Control Officer and Senior Chief from Princeton, and the radar operator on the E-2.  They even queried the crew of the USS Louisville, a Los Angeles-class Fast-Attack submarine that was in the area as part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group who reported there were no unidentified sonar contacts or strange underwater noises on that day.

I’m not sure what to make of these events.  I’ve loved the story since first listening because it is so crazy.  I had never given aliens or UFOs much thought.  It was a waste of my CPU power to mull a question like that.  If they wanted to make contact, they would.  If they wanted to observe from a distance, then they would be impossible to discern given the assumed high technology required to visit.

But now I was faced with credible witnesses.  Not crackpots wearing foil hats but people I knew and people who were from my world.  There were multiple, corroborating platforms that detected the AAVs using varied sensors.  And, of course, the eight eyeballs that actually got a visual on the white tic-tac as Dave maneuvered to merge with it.  He doesn’t have to be a stranger to you either.  Watch him on the PBS series, Carrier, and generate your own opinion of his professionalism and sanity.

Roswell UFO crash site to open to public for tours

For the first time in 71 years, the W.W. “Mack” Brazel UFO crash site will be open to the public. 

The inaugural UFO 1947 Crash Tour event will run in conjunction with the Roswell UFO Festival in July. Crash-site tours will be available July 5-9, running twice per day to the original Mack Brazel crash site and homestead. Tickets are limited for this exclusive tour.

The Bogle family’s working ranch (Bogle Ltd.) houses the crash site and has never been open to public tours in the past. Their dedication to agriculture and resource cultivation has been the priority, but this year, the family approved the tour and hopes festival-goers will enjoy their time at the site. When you see a flash of lightning, do you count seconds until it thunders? An atmospheric scientist comments …

You probably do it. It might be ingrained from when you were a kid, and now it’s almost automatic. You see the flash of lightning – and you immediately start counting the seconds till it thunders.

But does counting really get you a good estimate for how far away the lightning is? Is this one of those old wives’ tales, or is it actually based on science? In this case, we have physics to thank for this quick and easy – and pretty accurate – calculation.

So what happens when a big storm rolls in?

The lightning you see is the discharge of electricity that travels between clouds or to the ground. The thunder you hear is the rapid expansion of the air in response to the lightning’s intense heat.

If you’re really close to the lightning, you will see it and hear the thunder simultaneously. But when it’s far away, you see and hear the event at different times. That’s because light travels much faster than sound. Think of sitting in the nosebleed seats at a baseball game. You see the batter hit the ball a second before you hear the crack of the bat.

The visual part is instantaneous.

When observing an event on Earth, you see things almost the instant they happen – the speed of light is so fast you can’t even detect the travel time. The speed of sound is much slower, which gives us time to do our calculation.

Let’s simplify the speed equation: Sound travels a little over 700 miles per hour, or 700 miles in 3,600 seconds. That means 7 miles traveled every 36 seconds. Make this even easier and round down to 7 miles every 35 seconds … or 1 mile every 5 seconds! Count to 5: If you hear thunder, the lightning occurred within 1 mile.

Now that you know how far away that lightning strike was, is it far enough to be a safe distance from the storm? That’s actually a trick question. Thunder can be heard up to 25 miles away, and lightning strikes have been documented to occur as far as 25 miles from thunderstorms – known as a “bolt from the blue.” So if you can hear thunder, you’re close enough to be hit by lightning, and sheltering indoors or in an enclosed car is your safest bet.

And don’t count on the folk wisdom that lightning never strikes the same place twice to protect you. That one is just plain wrong. For example, lightning strikes the top of the Empire State Building an average of 23 times per year.

They’re back! People at high latitudes are seeing noctilucent or “night-shining” clouds, which always return to the skies around this time of year. Don’t miss the gorgeous photos in this post!

People are reporting sightings of the silver-blue clouds – called noctilucent or night shining clouds – that light up summer night skies. These clouds are typically seen at high latitudes – say, about 45 degrees north or south – from May through August in the Northern Hemisphere, and from November through February in the Southern Hemisphere.

Every year around this time, we hear from people who begun spotting them again.

Over this past week, several people reported noctilucent clouds above northern Europe. The video below is from in Mindaugas Gasparavi?ius in Lithuania, who caught these clouds on June8, 2018:

RV Photography wrote on June 5, 2018: “The magic that happens around 80 kilometers (50 miles) above the northern parts of this globe we all call home is back … the noctilucent clouds!!”

What are noctilucent clouds? 

Noctilucent clouds form in the highest reaches of the atmosphere – the mesosphere – as much as 50 miles (80 km) above the Earth’s surface. They’re thought to be made of ice crystals that form on fine dust particles from meteors. They can only form when temperatures are incredibly low and when there’s water available to form ice crystals.

Why do these clouds – which require such cold temperatures – form in the summer? It’s because of the dynamics of the atmosphere. You actually get the coldest temperatures of the year near the poles in summer at that height in the mesosphere.

Here’s how it works: during summer, air close to the ground gets heated and rises. Since atmospheric pressure decreases with altitude, the rising air expands. When the air expands, it also cools down. This, along with other processes in the upper atmosphere, drives the air even higher causing it to cool even more. As a result, temperatures in the mesosphere can plunge to as low as -210 degrees Fahrenheit (-134 degrees Celsius).

In the Northern Hemisphere, the mesosphere often reaches these temperatures by mid-May, in most years.

Since the clouds are so sensitive to the atmospheric temperatures, they can act as a proxy for information about the wind circulation that causes these temperatures. First of all, they can tell scientists that the circulation exists, and also tell us something about the strength of the circulation.

How can I see noctilucent clouds? 

If you want to see the clouds, what steps should you take? Remember, you have to be at a relatively high latitude on Earth to see them: between about 45 degrees and 60 degrees north or south latitude.

For best results, look for these clouds from about May through August in the Northern Hemisphere, and from November through February in the Southern Hemisphere.

Noctilucent clouds are primarily visible when the sun is just below the horizon, say, from about 90 minutes to about two hours after sunset or before sunrise. At such times, when the sun is below the ground horizon but visible from the high altitude of noctilucent clouds, sunlight illuminates these clouds, causing them to glow in the dark night sky.

Scientists studying these clouds have included those from NASA’s AIM (Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere) satellite. This satellite, launched in 2007, has observed noctilucent clouds using several onboard instruments to collect information such as temperature, atmospheric gases, ice crystal size and changes in the clouds, as well as the amount of meteoric space dust that enters the atmosphere. Bottom line: Noctilucent or night-shining clouds form in the highest reaches of the atmosphere – the mesosphere – as much as 50 miles (80 km) above the Earth’s surface. They’re seen during summer in high-latitude regions.

Organic Molecules on Mars

In the second paper, a team led by Jen Eigenbrode, Ph.D., a research scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, showed clear evidence of organic molecules in 3-billion-year-old mudstone on Mars’ surface. Eigenbrode’s team positively identified four different organic molecules and found possible evidence of a fifth. Again, the researchers point out that their findings don’t confirm the presence of life on Mars, as these compounds could have been produced by abiotic — non-living — processes, much like the methane in the planet’s atmosphere. It does, however, suggest we’re looking in the right place.

The findings in this paper additionally suggest that Mars may have had an atmosphere similar to that of early Earth when life first began to form. If the environment on Mars was indeed more habitable 3 billion years ago, it’s possible that the Red Planet also had the ingredients for early, basic forms of life. But it’s just as possible that these molecules fell to the planet from the stars or simply came from decomposing rocks. It’s simply too early to tell.

Whatever the source of these molecules may be, though, Eigenbrode and Webster’s professional peers are convinced that these results merit further study with future Mars missions.

“The results convincingly show the long-awaited detection of organic compounds on Mars,” writes Inge Loes ten Kate, Ph.D., an assistant professor of Earth sciences and petrology at University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, in a perspectivepublished in Science alongside the two new studies. “The detection of organic molecules and methane on Mars has far-ranging implications in light of potential past life on Mars.”

45 Years Ago, A UFO Sighting In Costa Rica Impressed The World

(QCOSTARICA) Alien sightings (like in UFO) in Costa Rica are not new. One of the more recent is this year, an eye-witness report and photograph of a saucer-shaped UFO near the Irazú volcano, according to the world’s oldest and largest  UFO phenomenon investigative body, Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

It was at 11:06am on February 24, 2016 that the UFO sighting was made outside the Irazú national park. The weather was good, lots of sunlight and no clouds. “This volcano is 3,400 meters of altitude above sea level (11,260 feet) close to the biosphere, so we were above the clouds,” the witness stated. “Like when you fly on an airplane, the sky was really clear so at 11 a.m. on that altitude part of the sky was light black.”

Ufosightingsdaily.com‘s report of the same sighting said, “This UFO was seen over a Irazu Volcano in Costa Rica this week. It was probably exiting an underground base that is 4-5 km below the volcano. Aliens often chose high peaks and volcanos to make a base below, because of their secludedness and difficulty for humans to explore. Thus, the risk of them being seen is low.”

In September 2015, the Huffington Post reported, “Photographer Captures Strange Organic-Looking UFO Over Costa Rica”. In their report, the Huff said, “A photographer has captured what looks to be a weird almost organic-looking UFO in Costa Rica.”

UFO-hunters.com lists Costa Rica sightings and locations dating back to June 15, 1969 in Alajuelita (south side of San Jose), a sighting that lasted 5 hours, in this case a “formation”. The website also lists “disk” sightings that range from a flash to an hour. Click here for the sightings list.

Considered one of the “best in the world photograph” of a UFO sighting is that taken by members of the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) – National Geographic Institute, on September 4, 1971 at 8:25am.

In a report by Crhoy.com, at the time, the IGN was taking photographs for the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) to create a map to determine where the water would come from for the acquisition of land to develop the Arenal dam project.

That was when Sergio Loaiza, along with Juan Bravo and Francico Reyes, were flying in a Canadian made Areo-Commander model F680. Loaiza had a NRK 15-23 camera, weighing 100 lbs, on the floor of the airplane. On that day he was in charge of aerialphotography.

Flying at 10,000 feet, the camera fired every 13 seconds.

No one realized anything strange in the photos taken. They were saved. It was later when IGN employees noticed the object, while doing a study to connect Lago De Coteand the Arenal lagoon, which also belonged to ICE.

Loaiza was in charge of reveiwing the photos, recounting that while enlarging the images and then examining the negative closely, they realized what had been photographed.

“At the time we were completely banned from talking about it, we could not tell anyone,” said Loaiza.

In 1979, Ricardo Vílchez send the photo to the now defunct organization, Ground Saucer Watch (GSW).

That same year, the photos were published in the Costa Rica media. A decade later, the photographs became part of the “Journal of Scientific Exploration“, which once again discarded the UFO sighting, considering them a photo montage.

Oscar Sierra, UFO researcher based in Costa rica, said the photographs were analyzed in the France and the U.S., where different bodies studied the case and determined it to be real.

According to Loaiza, the plane was piloted by Omar Arias, an experienced pilot, and the camera donated by Germany to the Instituto Geográfico (Geographic Institute). He also noted that the equipment used was special, to the point that if there had been a speck of dust between the lens and film, the equipment would not have worked.

“There was no possibility (of an error). There was no trick, we did not even realized it at the time”.

Do Ancient Sumerian Scribes Really Describe Extraterrestrial Contact?

Ancient history is full of documented oddities, ones that unfortunately we continue to ignore, but we’re getting better and the collective human mind is opening up to new explanations for the nature of reality, and a host of other topics, like human history, for example.

A lot of ‘lore’ from our ancient world seems to be in the process of being re-discovered, a great example would be the correlationsbetween ancient eastern spiritual beliefs and quantum physics, with its strong correlation and dependence on consciousness. Another example could be ancient health practices, commonly referred to today as naturopathic medicine. The example in this article deals with ancient lore of beings from other worlds, and it’s even more interesting because of the modern day UFO disclosure we’re seeing and the evidence suggesting that some of them could be extraterrestrial is quite fascinating, at least for those who’ve taken the time to look.

When contemplating specifically about extraterrestrials, there are many examples to choose from. Whether it’s the Star People that Native North American stories speak of, or modern day supposed encounters with different types of extraterrestrial beings, believe me, there is no shortage.

Perhaps one of the most well-known stories comes from the work of Zecharia Sitchin, a man who authored many books proposing an explanation for human origins involving ancient astronauts. Renowned researcher Jim Marrs in his book, Our Occulted History, describes the work of Sitchin  and his findings well,

“In several accounts etched permanently into their clay tablets, the ancient Sumerian scribes gave more detail as to the source of their knowledge. They wrote that 432,000 years before the Great Flood, the Anunnaki arrived and taught them the basics of civilization… According to the interpretations of Zecharia Sitchin and many others, the term Anunnaki means “those who came from the heavens to Earth.” In Sitchin’s narrative, these were astronauts from the planet Nibiru who traveled through the asteroid belt and initially landed in the Persian Gulf.”

Marrs goes on to describe how once there, they began to colonize and search for gold, as well as manipulate the DNA of “primitives” on Earth, who eventually came to be the kings and aristocratic families on Earth, which eventually led to devastation and war all over the globe.

Stories of other worldly beings are also present in several African legends of creation, like the Zulu people, which means “sky” people. Their connection to the stories of Zecharia Sitchin are quite fascinating, as the stories of these “Gods” have the same aspects ascribed to the Anunnaki in the Sumerian tablets. If you want to hear some examples of stories, just google Credo Mutwa. South African researcher Michael Tellinger, also describes it quite well, this is another excerpt from Our Occulted History. 

“Most of African mythology speaks about the same things, the sky gods the abelungu who came down from the sky. They created the people, to mine gold. Credo Mutwa (and African shaman) tells us Abantu in Zulu means the children of Antu. Antu is the Sumerian Goddess of the Abzu – where the gold came from. Lord Enki is also known as Enkei as the creator-god, the Sumerian medicine man. He cloned a species. His symbol is on the medical symbol, caduceus. This is one of the oldest symbols on the earth encoded with so much knowledge and information we can spend a lecture on it alone.” 

Another example could be Quetzalcoatl, considered to be a mythical tale. Spanish chronicler, Juan de Torquemada, states that Quetzalcoatl was ‘a fair and ruddy complexioned man with a long beard’. Researcher Graham Hancock describes him as follows:

“A mysterious person… a white man with strong formation of body, broad forehead, large eyes, and a flowing beard. He was dressed in a long, white robe reaching to his feet. He condemned sacrifices, except of fruits and flowers, and was known as the god of peace. When addressed on the subject of war he is reported to have stopped up his ears with his fingers.”  (source)

To be honest, as Astronaut Story Musgrave once said, “there are probably trillions of different races out there doing star travel.”

The story of human history may not be how it’s being told, the way it’s told now is quite dull in my opinion, we are stuck on creationism and evolution as our only two options when it could be something far greater and more complex and wild, with a little mix of everything, perhaps. The only certainty is what we are taught doesn’t seem to fit in with all the weird discoveries that’ve been made over the years of giants and strange humanoid skulls/body’s.

Our world is drenched in secrecy, and what are perceived as the most “outlandish” ideas, in a lot of cases, usually hold the most validity. Truth does not stop, it’s always there. However, the human perception of truth and reaction to it sort of determines what we create as truth. If we all believe something to be, it might be? But those are deeper discussions, the point is, there are truths which remain, when humanity will choose to accept them so we can move on from the ones that do not resonate, is a different story, but we’re doing a good job so far.

According to Sitchin, approximately half a million years ago these Anunnaki beings came to Earth because our planet and their planet came in close proximity.

Sitchin’s work has been criticized and rejected by mainstream academia, in the same way as parapsychology. For example, a statistics professor at UC Irvine published a paper showing that parapsychological experiments have produced much stronger results than those showing a daily dose of aspirin to help prevent a heart attack.

When you push the boundaries of beliefs, no matter how many researchers, scholars, and academics agree with you, there will always be the big one that doesn’t and that is the person who will get the most publicity in order to discredit you, in order to maintain some sort of status quo. This is what has happened with many people, including Sitchin, but there’s a reason why millions of people are so fascinated by all of the connections made by him, and those who have followed his work or do research in a similar area.

For example, Paul Von Ward, a prominent author, researcher and psychologist wrote,

“Although I do not agree with his cosmology… his elucidation of historical details and connection of them to other fields of knowledge stand up under comparative review with the work of other scholars. His summary of information relating to the ‘olde gods’ known in Sumeria as the Anunnaki presents a cohesive and defensible mixture of textual material and judicious interpretation.”

An author who has studied more than three hundred translations of ancient Mesopotamian and Vedic writings, C.L. Turnage wrote,

“After studying Sitchin’s theory, I began my own contemplation of the pre-biblical Babylonian Epic of Creation or Enuma Elish. It was from a study of this narrative that Sitchin became aware of the planet Nibiru and its establishment within our own solar system. This tale was originally written on seven clay tablets, each corresponding to a day of creation… After my own study of these chronicles, I concurred with Sitchin’s findings.”

Nonetheless, fascinating facts remain unexplainable unless we take an extraterrestrial perspective. Take for example that ancient Sumerians were accurately describing the planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto… These planets can’t even be seen without a telescope.

The Tenth Planet

This kind of thing has been quite popular at certain points in human history. In 1981 scientists were contemplating the possibility regarding strange evidence suggesting an additional solar body in our system.

Marrs’ book goes on to describe an article by Hugh McCann, a writer for Detroit News at the time,

“If the new evidence from the U.S. Naval Observatory of a 10th planet in the solar system is correct, it could prove that Sumerians… were far ahead of modern man in astronomy.” 

The Sumerians called it the 12th planet, but they counted the moon and the sun so it makes sense.

On the 30th of December in 1983, the Washington Post had a front page headlinethat read,

“A heavenly body as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that ti would be part of this solar system has been found in the direction of the constellation Orion by an orbiting telescope aboard the U.S. Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS). So mysterious is the object that astronomers do not know…”

What also comes to mind here are the recent statements by Apollo 15 astronaut Al Worden,

“We are the aliens, but we just think they’re somebody else, but we’re the ones who came from somewhere else. Because somebody else had to survive, and they got in a little space craft and they came here and they landed and they started civilization here, that’s what I believe. And if you don’t believe me, go get books on the ancient Sumerians and see what they had to say about it, they’ll tell you right up front.”

His comments differ significantly from Dr. Edgar Mitchell’s, who said he “happens to be privileged enough to be in on the fact that we are not alone on this plant ” and that we have “been visited many times.”

Our world is drenched in secrecy, do you think if such a body in our solar system was detected that we’d even hear anything about it? Most likely not.

Again, the story of the Anunnaki could very will be true, but this was a long time ago, and if that planet does exist, perhaps things have changed on it as well. We are looking at, if anything, one small account of extraterrestrial contact that’s occurred throughout this planet’s history.

Ze zijn vermoedelijk gemaakt door een lid van de Bilateria, dieren die bijna allemaal bilateraal (tweezijdig) symmetrisch zijn. Een kenmerk van de Bilateria is dat de aanhangels die ze hebben in paren voorkomen.

Bij de Chinese vondst gaat het dan om een paar poten die het lichaam van het dier boven het sediment hielden waarover het zich voortbewoog, luidt in het Chinees-Amerikaanse onderzoek dat gepubliceerd werd in het wetenschappelijke tijdschrift Science Advances .

De afdrukken zijn gevonden in het gebied van de Jangtsekiang-rivier in Zuid-China. “Eerder geïdentificeerde voetafdrukken zijn tussen de 540 en 530 miljoen jaar oud. De nieuwe fossielen zijn waarschijnlijk tot 10 miljoen jaar ouder”, verklaarde coauteur Zhe Chen aan persagentschap AFP.

Ten minste drie levende groepen dieren hebben aanhangsels in paren en komen dus in aanmerking: geleedpotigen, ringwormen of viervoeters. Tot de geleedpotigen behoren spinachten en kreeften. Tot de ringwormen behoren alle regenwormen en bloedzuigers. Alle zoogdieren, vogels, reptielen en amfibieën zijn onderdeel van de viervoeters.
