GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Folks online are trying to determine the strange object in the skies just outside of Greensboro, captured in a video posted over the weekend.
The video was taken by Bret Jones, who enjoys snapping pictures of birds.
He initially described the object as a strange light in the sky near a plane.
Some people argue it's just a balloon, but Jones says the flashing silver and gold lights make him think otherwise.

I already had my camera strapped to me and I started trying to capture it," he said. "I told my wife I just saw a UFO and she said 'oh yeah, again?' but then I look at the video and scroll and I was just like I have no idea what that is!"
Some people argue it's just a balloon, but Jones says the flashing silver and gold lights make him think otherwise.
"If I see evidence that it's indisputable for me that it would be balloon then yeah I would say it's just a balloon. But after 10 seconds, I couldn't see it in the sky anywhere. Why would a balloon, if it was just twisting around, why wouldn't I see it again," he said.
But what is it? A spaceship? Experimental aircraft? A balloon?

Unidentified submerged objects (USOs) are not as famous as UFOs although they are often encountered, according to declassified Russian Navy records. The common trait of all USO phenomena is that they involve unexplained and technologically advanced objects, far superior to anything we’ve ever built.
The recently declassified documents contain Soviet era reports detailing many cases of possible USO encounters. Former naval officer and Russian UFO researcher Vladimir Azhazha believes these documents are of great value. One of the most interesting cases he examined involved a nuclear submarine on a combat mission in the Southern Pacific. During the routine operation, the submarine detected six unknown objects traveling information at speeds in excess of 230 knots (265+ mph). In comparison, the fastest submarine was the Soviet K-222, which reached about 44 knots (51 mph).
The submarine’s sonar determined the objects were heading straight for it so the captain gave the order to surface. The USOs followed them to the surface then flew away. Similar instances have been reported in the region of the Bermuda Triangle, as retired submarine commander Yuri Beketov recalls. Onboard instruments often malfunctioned, indicating the presence of strong interference. Many believe this is a clear sign of USO/UFO presence.
“On several occasions, the instruments gave reading of material objects moving at incredible speed. Calculations showed speeds of about 230 knots or 265 mph. Speeding so fast is a challenge even on the surface. But water resistance is much higher. It was like the objects defied the laws of physics. There’s only one explanation: the creatures who built them far surpass us in development”, said Beketov.
Both UFOs and USOs seem to concentrate wherever military operations occur, indicating their interest in humanity’s military arsenal.
Another USO hotspot is Lake Baikal in Russia. The world’s deepest freshwater lake has always had a certain mysterious nature and fishermen tell tales of lights being spotted in its deep waters. Multiple folk tales describe swimmers being dragged down by creatures lurking beneath Baikal’s calm waves.
Another of the Russian documents described the encounter between a group of military divers and several humanoid beings in silver suits. The divers were training in Lake Baikal at a depth of 150 feet (50 meters) when they came upon a group of unknown creatures. The divers went deeper in the pursuit of the humanoids. Three men were killed, while the other four were severely injured.
Vladimir Azhazha believes the issue should be thoroughly investigated. “I think about underwater bases and say: why not? Nothing should be discarded,” says Azhazha. “Skepticism is the easiest way: believe nothing, do nothing. People rarely visit great depths. So it’s very important to analyze what they encounter there.”

The discovery of several remarkable relics could change the way we perceive ancient history. The artifacts were allegedly discovered in a former house belonging to Sir William Petrie, hidden in a secret chamber behind a bookshelf. A pioneer archaeologist, Sir Petrie excavated many of the most important ancient Egyptian archaeological sites.
His most famous findings are housed in the Petrie Museum in London but it seems he kept his most important ones to himself. It is believed he found them inside a secret chamber inside the Great Pyramid in Giza.
Among the many items found in the secret room were two small mummified bodies with long, slender arms and elongated heads with large eye sockets. Could these be the remains of extraterrestrial beings?
Another interesting relic was a disk-shaped gold object the size of a small plate. The object had a transparent top and an intricate mechanism inside. Unknown symbols were etched into its sides and they do not appear to be Egyptian hieroglyphs.
Last but not least and perhaps the most shocking is an item similar to a pharaoh mask. However, instead of the typical human face we might expect on such an item, this mask features a head that is identical to what we call ‘gray aliens’. The left side of the mask contains symbols that could very well be depicting alien encounters and what appears to be a spaceship.
Could these relics be the sought-after connection between the ancient Egyptians and an alien civilization? Strangely enough, Petrie mysteriously abandoned his efforts in Egypt and spent the remainder of his days excavating sites in Palestine. Perhaps he had uncovered clues that led him there.
It’s higly unlikely we’ll ever see these relics again as sources claim that shortly after their discovery, the artifacts were supposedly taken by representatives of the Rockefeller Museum.

Earth's north magnetic pole is so out of whack that scientists need to update the global magnetic-field model they released only four years ago. Could that be a sign that themagnetic pole will flipsoon?
The World Magnetic Model (WMM) — the name of the updated representation of the magnetic field of Earth — is expected to be released no earlier than Jan. 30. That's about two weeks later than planned, with the delay due to the government shutdown, according to a report in Nature.
The magnetic pole is moving erratically out of the Canadian Arctic and toward Siberia so unpredictably that it took scientists by surprise. That 2015 update was supposed to remain valid until 2020, Arnaud Chulliat, a geomagnetist at the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information, told Nature. It's no news that the pole is moving; long-term records from London and Paris (kept since 1580) show that the north magnetic pole moves erratically around the rotational north pole over periods of a few hundred years or longer, Ciaran Beggan, a geophysicist with the British Geological Survey who is involved in WMM updates, told Space.com in an email. He cited a 1981 study from the journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London.
But what's really catching attention is the acceleration in movement. Around the mid-1990s, the pole suddenly sped up its movements from just over 9 miles (15 kilometers) a year to 34 miles (55 kilometers) annually. As of last year, the pole careened over the international date line toward the Eastern Hemisphere.
The chief cause of the movement comes from the Earth's liquid-iron outer core, which is also called the "core field." Smaller factors also affect the movement. Those influences include magnetic minerals in the crust and upper mantle (especially for local magnetic fields) and electric currents created by seawater moving through an "ambient magnetic field," according to the 2015 report of the WMM.
"One of the reasons we can update the map is that the European Space Agency launched a set of highly accurate magnetic-field satellites in 2013," said Beggan, referring to Swarm.
"We have a superb data set from which we can make very good magnetic-field maps and update them every six to 12 months," Beggan added. "We noticed that the specification of the WMM was not being met in the high-latitude region around the pole, as the error exceeded 1 degree of grid angle on average. This triggered us to examine whether it was worth issuing a new update."
Earth's magnetic field could flip sooner than expected

What's more, the core field appears to be weakening — which may be a sign that the planet's magnetic field will flip. To better understand how that would happen, here's how the core field works, according to Ronald Merrill, an emeritus professor of Earth and space sciences at the University of Washington, who spoke to Space.com's sister site Live Science.
One easy way to imagine the field is to think of a bar magnet that runs through Earth's center and has a north pole and a south pole, said Merrill, who was not involved in the new WMM research. That magnet is strong, representing roughly 75 percent of the intensity of Earth's magnetic field at the surface.
Of course, a bar magnet is not a perfect representation — it's actually electric currents that generate the Earth's magnetic field — but the model makes it easier to imagine what's happening to Earth, Merrill added. Specifically, the "bar magnet" is not only moving, but also getting weaker, by roughly 7 percent every 100 years.
As for the other 25 percent of the magnetic field, Merrill said that's generated from another field, which you can picture as another moving bar magnet. Here's an interesting bit: As the central bar magnet loses intensity, this second, weaker magnetic field generates more influence on Earth's global magnetism. "And that's what's causing this field to move in the direction [of Siberia]," Merrill told Live Science.
Earth's north and south poles periodically swap locations, with the last flip happening about 780,000 years ago. (The poles also weakened temporarily and rapidly about 41,000 years ago, Beggan added, but never underwent a full flip.)) A 2018 study in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences suggested that Earth's magnetic field got weaker before the big changeover.
While any magnetic-field flip would still be thousands of years away, the effects could be profound on technology, if similar to today’s technology. This is because the weaker magnetic field would be somewhat poorer at shielding Earth against the solar wind (the constant stream of charged particles emanating from the sun) and cosmic rays (blasts of radiation from deep space). Magnetic compasses would not be as accurate, and satellites that monitor the weather or carry telecommunications signals could be disrupted, said Monika Korte, head of GFZ Potsdam's working group on geomagnetic field evolution in Germany.
"Regarding increased radiation, that would go along with decreased shielding, [but] it seems that the atmosphere would still provide sufficient shielding at Earth's surface that humans and animals would not be significantly affected," she told Space.com in an email.
"However, all the effects we currently only see during strong solar/geomagnetic storms would likely increase and occur ... during moderate solar activity," she added. "This includes satellite outages or damage to satellites, increased radiation doses on long-distance aircraft and the ISS [International Space Station], [and] distortions of telecommunication and GPS signals."
Ongoing monitoring of the Earth's geomagnetic field (which includes the pole) will continue after the WMM release, principally through the European Space Agency Swarm mission, Korte said. But she noted that measuring the north magnetic pole's position is a challenge. That's because the pole is located in a remote area and the measurement of Earth's magnetic field is influenced by all magnetic-field sources — including the magnetic fields found in Earth's atmosphere (the ionosphere and magnetosphere).
"It will depend on the future magnetic field change, which we cannot predict, if another update to the model out of the usual schedule might be required," she added.
The next update to the WMM after this year's is expected early in 2020, Beggan said. You can read more about the WMM here.
NASA's Parker Solar Probe has completed its first full orbit around the sun.

NASA's Parker Solar Probe has completed its first loop around the sun and entered the second of 24 planned orbits.
The spacecraft launched on Aug. 12, 2018, andsurvived its first close flybyof the sun on Nov. 5 of last year, when it swooped within 15 million miles (24 million kilometers) of the star. As of Jan. 19, the probe has reached its farthest distance from the sun, called aphelion, before it goes in for another close pass on April 4.
"It's been an illuminating and fascinating first orbit," Andy Driesman, Parker Solar Probe project manager and a researcher at Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Lab in Maryland, which built and manages the project, said in the statement. "We've learned a lot about how the spacecraft operates and reacts to the solar environment, and I'm proud to say the team's projections have been very accurate."
"We've always said that we don't know what to expect until we look at the data," added Nour Raouafi, a project scientist on the probe who's also at APL. "The data we have received hints at many new things that we've not seen before and at potential new discoveries. Parker Solar Probe is delivering on the mission's promise of revealing the mysteries of our sun."
The spacecraft's first approach broke distance records; humanity's previous record-holder for a close approach to the sun, Helios 2, dove to about twice Parker Solar Probe's distance from the star in 1976. Parker also busted speed records, blazing by at 213,200 mph (343,112 km/h) relative to the sun.
On its second pass, the spacecraft will fly by at a similar distance, but in future orbits, it will break its own records, getting closer and closer to the sun. By its final planned flyby, in late 2025, the spacecraft will dive within just 3.83 million miles (6.16 million km) of the sun, accelerated by the star's gravity to nearly 430,000 mph (690,000 km/h).

But for now, preparing for the spacecraft's second flyby, engineers are remotely emptying the probe of data that has already been transmitted to Earth. They're also sending updated position and navigation information, plus about a month's worth of command instructions, NASA officials said in the statement.
During Parker Solar Probe's 24 total flybys, its four instruments will help researchers understand the inner workings of the sun and how it accelerates solar material at high speeds, as well as what makes the star's outer atmosphere, called the corona, so much hotter than the solar surface.

If you need a good vantage point, you need good eyes and altitude. Satellites have both.
The latest in a group of three snow-covered pyramids was recently discovered through Google Earth satellite imagery and in a few days, the finding has taken the alternative history communities by storm.
Two of the pyramids can be found approximately 10 miles inland while the third rests near the coastline.
The implications of this discovery are complex and if accepted, it could turn the scientific world on its head. No history book ever mentioned an Antarctic civilization with the skills and technology necessary to erect enormous pyramids.
There is one apparent reason behind this situation and by the looks of it, it would suggest tech-savvy civilizations existed on Earth a long time before our own emerged.
Antarctica is now a frozen wasteland but it wasn’t always like this. It got to its current position through plate tectonics, inching closer to the geographic South Pole year after year.
Millions of years ago, Antarctica’s climate was much warmer because its position was closer to the equator. This is established fact backed up by several accepted discoveries, not some wild speculation.
Some years ago, the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) uncovered evidence that the antarctic climate was much different in the distant past.
“Go back 100 million years ago,” BAS’s Dr. Vanessa Bowman said “and Antarctica was covered in lush rainforests similar to those that exist in New Zealand today.”
Another expedition – led by NASA and involving 11 other scientific organizations– discovered out-of-place microbial life forms in the depths of Antarctica’s Lake Vida, trapped under a sheet of ice 65 feet thick.
The microbial colonies had been prospering in isolation for millions of years and scientists believe they are the descendants of microorganisms that lived in a much warmer climate.
Who knows what other enigmas lay buried in ice, hopelessly waiting to be revealed.
The resemblance is unsettling
Even with today’s technology, building structures as massive as the pyramids of Antarctica would be nearly impossible. There are simply too many problems relating to manpower and the logistics required for such a project.
If building these mysterious monuments were to be a viable venture, it must have taken place in the past, when Antarctica was a favorable place for human life.
And this opens up a king-sized can of worms. The continent was habitable only in the very distant past, but mainstream science says the wheel wasn’t invented until some 6,000 years ago.
At the same time, anatomically-modern humans are said to have mastered fire only 125,000 years ago. So where do these controversial pyramids fit in?
Are they evidence of an ancient advanced civilization or do we need to stretch our imagination even further and regard them as proof of time travel? The mind boggles when we remain attached to our outdated beliefs.

Proponents of alternative history and fans of the ancient aliens hypothesis have no problem in accepting the parallel reality generated by such discoveries.
It’s not hard to see and accept that we aren’t the first and though it may seem this way, we probably won’t be the last.
Thousands of years after they were built, we are still fascinated by the Egyptian pyramids.
The monuments left behind by their society have stood the test of time and in more than one way, they’ve granted their builders immortality.
Keeping that in mind, what could be said about pyramids that are millions of years old? Does that put our own lives into perspective and make us see the bigger picture?

De wetenschap zegt wel dat ze alles in kaart hebben gebracht, maar negeert al tientallen jaren het bewijs dat hoogstaande beschavingen hebben achtergelaten in de vorm van bouwwerken zo precies gebouwd en met talloze blokken graniet of basalt van tientallen tonnen (soms zelfs duizenden tonnen!) en dat onomstotelijk aantoont dat de mens van een paar duizend jaar geleden die bouwwerken niet gemaakt kan hebben, niet alleen vanwege het gewicht van de bouwblokken, maar al helemaal niet met het gereedschap van hooguit brons dat ze hadden.

Al vele jaren vragen wij ons af wat er verborgen ligt onder het ijs en de sneeuw op Antarctica, de Zuidpool van de aarde. De Nazi’s hadden grote belangstelling voor dat continent en hebben er naar verluidt een eigen basis gevestigd genaamd Neu Schwabenland:
Voor buitenaardsen is Antarctica qua locatie om verborgen te blijven voor menselijke waarneming gelijk aan de achterkant van de Maan. Ook over die Maanlocatie beweren overheidsklokkenluiders dat er talloze constructies staan die op gebouwen wijzen en die daar duidelijk niet door de mens zijn geplaatst. De kans dat buitenaardsen op de achterkant van de Maan ontdekt zouden worden, was pas aanwezig toen de mens technisch gezien dichter bij hen kwam te staan en ruimtereizen kon maken.
Dan nog is de achterstand in kennis en techniek gigantisch groot, maar ook daar zullen de eventuele buitenaardsen wel een oplossing voor hebben en mochten ze ons niet vertrouwen (niet zo gek met onze oorlogszuchtigheid) dan zullen ze er beslist voor zorgen dat we niet te dichtbij komen, hetzij via bedreigingen aan enkele regeringsleiders, of het aanbieden aan hen van wat verouderde buitenaardse techniek en kennis in ruil voor het wegblijven van de Maan of Antarctica of in ieder geval van bepaalde locaties aldaar. En luisteren deze aardse machthebbers niet, dan desnoods maar het uit de lucht/ruimte halen van onze vliegtuigen en ruimteschepen.

And yet the profile of the great "sun" gods presents a fascinating dilemma. During the past century several authorities noticed that Greek and Latin astronomical texts show a mysterious confusion of the "Sun" — Greek Helios, Latin Sol — with the outermost planet, Saturn. Though the designation seems bizarre, the expression "star of Helios" or "star of Sol" was applied to Saturn! Of the Babylonian star-worshippers the chronicler Diodorus writes: "To the one we call Saturn they give a special name, 'Sun-Star.'"
Similarly, the Greek historian Nonnus gives Kronos as the Arab name of the "sun," though Kronos meant only Saturn and no other celestial body. Hyginus, in listing the planets, names first Jupiter, then the planet "of Sol, others say of Saturn." A Greek ostrakon, cited by the eminent classicist, Franz Boll, identifies the Egyptian sun god Ra, not with our sun, but with the planet Saturn. This repeated confusion of the Sun and Saturn seems to make no sense at all. Can you imagine any difficulty in separating the two bodies, or distinguishing the one from the other?
One fact beyond dispute is that the word Helios did become the Greek word for our Sun, just as the Latin Sol gave his name to our Sun. The same can be said for the older Shamash and Ra: the names of these gods became the names for the solar orb. The Popol Vuh, lauded as the "Mayan Bible," attests to the same idea. “We hebben te maken met een meteoriet van het rotsachtige type, met een legering van ijzer en nikkel. Ze bevat ook een grote hoeveelheid magnesiumsilicaat”, zegt expert Efrén Jaimez Salgado.
De meteoriet liet een spoor achter in de lucht, zo is te zien op beelden op sociale media. De Amerikaanse National Weather Service bevestigde ook dat er een meteoriet was gezien in de lucht boven de Keys in Florida. Die liggen niet ver van Cuba.

This is just a amazing. This footage shows numerous white UFO flying over a lake in Canada. At first I thought they could be geese, but they are flying about 200-400 miles per hour...like a piper cub single engine plane, but these have no wings, no tail. Defiantly not balloons, unless they are in a hurricane, which they are not. Instead they look like thick white disks that are following each other. They come close to another, then shoot away. They do not fly in formation like geese or birds. From the evidence here, I can safely say that this is a fleet of UFOs, actual alien craft.

China'sChang'e 4 lander and roverare in good shape following a cold spell on the moon. They were put to sleep as night fell roughly two weeks ago at the mission's Von Kármán Crater landing site.
The China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced on Thursday (Jan. 31) that thelander and roverboth survived their first trial by ice. The rover, Yutu 2 ("Jade Rabbit 2"), woke up at about 7:00 a.m. EST (8:00 p.m. China time) Tuesday (Jan. 29), and the lander followed suit 24 hours later, CNSA officials said.

CNSA officials also noted that communication and data transmission between mission control on Earth and the farside hardware via the relay satellite Queqiao ("Magpie Bridge") are stable.
Both the lander and the rover came out of dormant mode automatically, waking up after noting the elevation angle of the sunlight now available at Von Kármán Crater, which is part of the huge South Pole-Aitken Basin. Furthermore, key instruments have started to work again, mission officials said.
Presently, the rover is located about 60 feet (18 meters) northwest of the lander.

"According to the measurements of Chang'e 4, the temperature of the shallow layer of the lunar soil on the far side of the moon is lower than the data obtained by the U.S. Apollo mission on the near side of the moon," said Zhang He, executive director of the Chang'e 4 probe project, from the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), according to China's state-run Xinhua news agency.
"That's probably due to the difference in lunar soil composition between the two sides of the moon. We still need more careful analysis," Zhang added.

The lander and rover are outfitted with a radioisotope heat source.
The lander also carries an isotope thermoelectric cell and dozens of temperature data collectors to measure the temperatures on the surface of the moon during the lunar night, the Xinhua story notes.
This gear's data reveal that the lander experienced temperatures as low as minus 310 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 190 degrees Celsius) during its first lunar night, China's Global Television Network (CGTN) reported.

On January 25th, a huge UFO was seen passing on the coast line of the city of San Clemente, California, United States, to the south. On the same day, a Mexican citizen named Gerardo Choko Trompetas who resides in the city of Tijuana, Mexico, has seen an enormous object almost identical to that seen in San Clemente. We recall that Tijuana (Mexico) borders the United States and is only 123 km from San Clemente, where the cigar-shaped UFO was first seen.
The Tijuana witness has published on his Facebook channel the video of the object hovering above the sky of his city, filmed with his mobile phone.
Apparently, this would be the same object, since the distance between the two cities is very short, and the object spotted in the United States was going south. Ufologists who are investigating this sighting have ruled out that it could be a conventional aircraft. It can not be a helicopter or an airship, since it changed shape and had no wings or propellers. In the images below you can also see a small bright object passing near the UFO still on Tijuana.

A video uploaded to YouTube channel Gagare1952 shows FOUR separate UFO sightings over the course of a month hovering over one of the world’s most powerful volcanos. In the video, bright lights can be seen hovering above Yellowstone, and clouds which move too quickly to seem natural aren also present on another occasion. The footage was shot by an employee at the national park who sent it to his friend.
The original uploader of the video said: “My friend Shawn from the National Park In Yellowstone recorded live with his camcorder. Not one but four types of UFOs hovering the supervolcano in the caldera area.”
The Yellowstone National Park has long been a hotspot for alien enthusiasts, with sightings regularly reported there.
In late 2016, a sighting of a small drone-like object went viral when it was seen hovering above the supervolcano.
Jeanetta Foresta uploaded a video of the sighting under the heading "Things are flying all over - overnight".

Famed UFO blogger Scott C Waring picked up on the video on his website UFO Sightings Daily.

Yellowstone has also piqued the interest of many around the globe over fears that it could soon erupt.
The Yellowstone Caldera supervolcano last erupted 70,000 years ago but a spike in seismic activity around the national park has unsettled nerves.
If the Wyoming volcano were to erupt it would kill an estimated 87,000 people immediately and make two-thirds of the USA immediately uninhabitable.

The large spew of ash into the atmosphere would block out sunlight and directly affect life beneath it creating a “nuclear winter”.
The massive eruption could be a staggering 6,000 times as powerful as the one from Washington’s Mount St Helens in 1980 which killed 57 people and deposited ash in 11 different states and five Canadian provinces.
If the volcano explodes, a climate shift would ensue as the volcano would spew massive amounts of sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere, which can form a sulphur aerosol that reflects and absorbs sunlight.

Newly declassified documents from the Pentagon revealed the Department of Defense funded projects that investigated UFOs, wormholes, alternate dimensions and a host of other subjects that are often the topics of conspiracy theorists.
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) released 38 research titles on Jan. 18, following a Freedom of Information Act request from Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Scientists’ Project on Government Secrecy. The research was funded by the Department of Defense under its Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP).
Some of the more interesting projects include Invisibility Cloaking; Traversable Wormholes, Stargates and Negative Energy; Warp Drive, Dark Energy and the Manipulation of Extra Dimensions; and An Introduction to the Statistical Drake Equation.
“The DOD and the DIA have previously sought to spin AATIP as being a program looking at ‘foreign advanced aerospace weapon threats,’ but the attachment to the DIA’s letter to Congress is difficult to reconcile with this, given that the ‘products produced’ under the AATIP contract are listed as including reference papers on topics which seem more concerned with space travel,” Nick Pope, a former employee at the British Government’s Ministry of Defence, said in comments obtained by Fox News.
Pope continued: “The smoking gun is the paper about the Drake Equation, which is used to estimate the number of civilizations in the universe. This supports the suggestion that AATIP was indeed a UFO program, as has been claimed and not an aviation program looking at aircraft, drones and missiles.”
The Drake Equation is a seven-term equation that attempts to look at the different variables that would be relevant for intelligent lifeforms. This includes factors such as formed stars and their planets, the average number of planets that can potentially support life. Other factors include a fraction of those planets that can develop life and a fraction of these civilizations that have become intelligent.
Some of the projects give details such as who was working on them — Dr. Eric Davis of EarthTech International participated in the wormhole project, for instance — but others are left with scant details.
The project titled “Metallic Glasses” says Dr. Todd Hufnagel from Johns Hopkins University worked on the research, but it could mean anything.
“I think anyone who looks at these titles will scratch their heads and wonder what on Earth the Defense Intelligence Agency was thinking,” Aftergood said in an interview with MotherBoard. “These are the kinds of topics you pursue when you have more money than you know what to do with.”
The existence of AATIP initially was described by the New York Times and Politico in 2017. It was subsequently reported on by Fox News and a number of other news outlets, due in large part to its investigation into the existence of UFOs at the urging of former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
Following the Times report, Reid tweeted “the truth is out there” (a nod to the show “The X-Files), adding that if “anyone says they have the answers, they’re fooling themselves.”

Both the Times and Politico said Reid’s interest in UFOs was the result of friend and donor Bob Bigelow, who owns Bigelow Aerospace and has said before he is “absolutely convinced” that aliens exist and UFOs have visited Earth.
The New York Times said AATIP had a $22 million annual budget and “most of the money” went to Bigelow’s research company, which hired subcontractors and solicited research for the program.
A Pentagon spokesman said the UFO program ended in 2012, though the New York Times said the Defense Department still investigates potential episodes of unidentified flying objects.

The enigmatic objects were apparently caught on camera just as a pair of astronauts were doing a spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS).
An ISS live stream earlier this month captured what looked like a pair of fast-moving objects heading towards the earth, once again raising speculations about alien spacecraft and extraterrestrial lifeforms.
Both objects also emitted flashes as they moved, making it look like they were reflecting sunlight, though their exact nature could not immediately be confirmed.
As the Daily Express notes, what makes this sighting especially interesting is the fact that two astronauts can also be seen "working on the spacecraft during the live stream".
Commenting on this incident, ufologist Scott C. Waring claimed in his blog UFO Sightings Daily that alien craft "visiting the space station is actually a daily occurrence", and that "NASA always refuses to talk about these objects and instead take a stance to ignore any questions about them".
