13. Belgian UFO Wave

Location: Belgium - March 1990

Over a number of days at the end of March 1990, scores of individuals reported seeing strange lights in the sky over Belgium. Belgian Air Force F-16s were dispatched to investigate. The F-16 pilots discovered nothing, but media frenzy over the European sightings exploded when a supposed image of one of the UFOs, a triangular craft with four thrusters, emerged. In 2011 the Belgian TV Channel RTL revealed the photo to be a fake. The faked image has been disregarded in our credibility rating, however the close encouter of the first kind was witnessed by multiple indivuals and trained air traffic controllers.

14. Phoenix Lights Phenomenon

Location: Phoenix, Arizona - March 1997

UFOlogists have claimed hundreds of witnesses saw the “otherworldly” lights across Arizona, Nevada and northern Mexico. The sighting comprised two principal parts: The spotting of a giant V-shaped craft displaying a number of lights or light-emitting thrusters and the sight of a series of stationary orange and red lights hanging in the sky. According to Arizona’s KStar News, the governor of the state at the time, Fife Symington, claimed he saw the lights. “I’m a pilot, and I know just about every machine that flies,” Symington said. “It was bigger than anything that I’ve ever seen. It remains a great mystery.”

Location: McMinnville, Oregon - May 1950

Widely regarded by UFOlogists to have produced the most important photographs of a UFO, the McMinnville sighting became famous at the height of the 1950s UFO craze. Paul Trent captured the images on camera after his wife, Evelyn, spotted a slow-moving metal disk while feeding the rabbits on their farm. The images went on to be printed in Life magazine. The pair maintained they had seen a genuine UFO until their deaths, repeating the tale for The Oregonian in 1997.

16. Shag Harbour Sighting

Location: Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada -October 1967

Multiple witnesses, including pilots, reported to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that they had witnessed a UFO with many glowing or flashing lights flying over the Nova Scotia shoreline. A dozen or so witnesses said they saw a glowing orange sphere crash into the water and then slip beneath the surface. No wreckage was ever found, Canada’s National Post reported.

Location: Tehran, Iran - September 1976

Two Iranian F-4 interceptor aircraft reported their equipment jammed as they approached a star-shaped UFO over the areas surrounding the Iranian capital, Tehran. Ground control equipment at Mehrabad International Airport was also reportedly affected by the strange craft. Speaking at a pilot’s conference in 2007, pilot Parviz Jafari said he attempted to fire on the UFO but was unable to cause any damage. "My weapons jammed and my radio communications garbled," he said, according to the Irish Independent.

18. Coyne, Mansfield Helicopter Incident

Location: Mansfield, Ohio - October 1973

Four crew members of an Army Reserve helicopter recorded a near collision with a UFO near Charles Mill Lake. The incident was corroborated by witnesses in Richland and Ashland counties who described an object or a ball of light moving in a manner not consistent with human flight. The crew on the helicopter, piloted by Lawrence Coyne (for whom the sighting is named), reported seeing a 60-foot-long, cigar-shaped object with a bright green light, according to the Mansfield News Journal.

19. Nancy France Sighting

Location: Nancy, Grand Est, France - October 1982

According to an investigation by GEPAN, a unit of France’s national aerospace agency tasked with investigating UFO sightings, a biologist, identified as M. Henri, and his wife observed an unidentified object that hovered for 20 minutes over their garden. The ovoid vessel had a shiny metallic appearance. M. Henri attempted to photograph the craft but found his camera had jammed. After the UFO regained altitude it moved at a speed and trajectory impossible for man-made aircraft. The witness claimed the vessel had an effect on his garden plants but under analysis they were found to be simply dehydrated.

20. Japan Airlines Flight 1628 Incident

Location: Alaska - November 1986

The pilot and crew of a Japan Airlines cargo flight carrying wine from Paris to Tokyo reported seeing strange flashing colorful lights that followed their aircraft over Alaska. The New York Timesreported during an FAA investigation into the sighting that the yellow, amber and green lights were spotted on a clear evening by pilot Kenji Terauchi. The lights appeared as the flight crossed into Alaska from Canada, while the plane cruised at 35,000 feet. The FAA later came to no definitive conclusion about the sighting.

21. Chicago O'Hare Airport Sighting

Location: Chicago, Illinois - November 2006

United Airlines staff and pilots at Chicago O’Hare Airport reported seeing a flying saucer hovering over the airport terminal on an overcast day. The vessel then shot up into the air so quickly that it punched a hole in the clouds. The FAA told The Chicago Tribune that the sighting had likely been caused by “weather phenomenon” and did not further investigate the incident. One flight traffic controller official remarked at the time: “To fly seven million light years to O'Hare and then have to turn around and go home because your gate was occupied is simply unacceptable."

22. Rendlesham Forest Incident

Location: Suffolk, England - December 1980

Between December 26-28, 1980, U.S. Air Force personnel stationed at RAF Bentwaters reported seeing strange lights near Rendlesham forest. The incident, which has been referred to as Britain’s Roswell, was never investigated by U.K. authorities. In 2015 Col. Charles Halt, one of the observers, told the BBC he had recovered statements from radar operators at the base recounting how they had observed a UFO moving too quickly for normal human flight.

23.Aguadilla Airport Incident

Location: Aguadilla, Puerto Rico - April 2013

An unidentified flying object was seen flying at low altitude across the Rafael Hernandez Airport runway in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The object did not give any warning signals, although it delayed the departure of a commercial flight. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft captured infrared video of the episode that was supplied to the Scientific Coalition for UFOology (SCU) by a whistleblower. The video shows the vessel apparently travelling without lights, at some instances below tree-top altitude, at speeds close to 100 mph. An analysis of the video was published in a report by the SCU.

24. USS Nimitz Tic-Tac UFO Incident

Location: California Coast - November 2004

U.S. Navy pilot Cmdr. David Fravor recalled seeing “something not from this earth” while commanding a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron during exercises some 60 to 100 miles off the coast of California. He recounted observing a tic-tac shaped vessel moving at great speed. The UFO was seen by a crew separate from Fravor that tracked the object and filmed it for more than a minute. The footage has now been declassified and published. The case was publicized by The New York Times following the Pentagon’s acknowledgement of its Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, a 21st-century study of UFO sightings.

A new study of fossils unearthed by Depression-era workers reveal that camels, antelopes and relatives of modern elephants and dogs were among the animals that roamed a veritable “Texas Serengeti” millions of years ago.

Researchers at the University of Texas have studied and identified a large collection of fossils unearthed during the Great Depression.

The fossil trove – nearly 4,000 specimens – makes up what the researchers call a veritable “Texas Serengeti,” representing 50 animal species, all of which roamed the Texas Gulf Coast 11-12 million years ago. The specimens include rhinos, alligators, antelopes, camels, 12 types of horses and several species of carnivores. The team also identified a new genus of gomphothere, an extinct relative of elephants with a shovel-like lower jaw, as well as the oldest fossils of the American alligator and an extinct relative of modern dogs.

From 1939 to 1941, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) – a federal agency that provided work to millions of Americans during the Great Depression – put unemployed Texans to work as fossil-hunters. The workers dug up tens of thousands of specimens from sites near Beeville, Texas. For the past 80 years, the fossils have been stored at the University of Texas at Austin and, until now, studied only in small bits and pieces.

A paper describing these fossils, the collection history, and geologic setting was published April 11, 2019, in the journal Palaeontologia Electronica.

The fossils came into the university’s collection as part of a WPA-funded program, the State-Wide Paleontologic-Mineralogic Survey, which supervised the work and organized field units for collecting fossils and minerals across Texas from 1939 to 1941. Despite lasting only three years, the survey found and excavated thousands of fossils from across the state.

The reason the fossil collection contains so many large mammals is due in large part to the collection practices of the fossil-hunters, most of whom weren’t trained in paleontology. Large tusks, teeth and skulls were easier to spot – and more exciting to find – than bones left by small species. Steven May is a research associate at the UT Jackson School of Geosciences and author of the paper. May said in a statement:

They collected the big, obvious stuff. But that doesn’t fully represent the incredible diversity of the Miocene environment along the Texas Coastal Plain.

Since then, most of the finds have been kept in the Texas Vertebrate Paleontology Collections at the Jackson School Museum of Earth History. Over the years, a number of scientific papers have been published on select groups of WPA specimens. But this is the first paper to study the entire fauna.

Bottom line: A new study of fossils unearthed in Texas by Depression-era workers reveal camels, antelopes and relatives of modern elephants and dogs.

The US Navy secretly designed a super-fast futuristic aircraft resembling a UFO, documents reveal

The US Navy has been granted a patent for an advanced aircraft which resembles a flying saucer UFO.

Military inventors filed plans for a highly unusual flying machine which uses an ‘inertial mass reduction device’ to travel at ‘extreme speeds’.

What that means is that the aircraft uses complex technology to reduce its mass and thereby lessen inertia (an object’s resistance to motion) so it can zoom along at high velocities.

The patent is highly complex and describes methods of reducing the mass of an aircraft using various techniques including the generation of gravity waves, which were first detected in 2016 after being produced when two black holes collided.

‘It is possible to reduce the inertial mass and hence the gravitational mass, of a system/object in motion, by an abrupt perturbation of the non-linear background of local spacetime,’ the patent says.

The craft described in the patent features a cavity wall filled with gas, which is then made to vibrate using powerful electromagnetic waves.

This then creates a vacuum around the craft, allowing it to propel itself at high speeds.

The UFO-style ship can be used in water, air or even space.

‘It is possible to envision a hybrid aerospace/undersea craft (HAUC), which due to the physical mechanisms enabled with the inertial mass reduction device, can function as a submersible craft capable of extreme underwater speeds… and enhanced stealth capabilities,’ the patent continues.

‘This hybrid craft would move with great ease through the air/space/water mediums, by being enclosed in a vacuum plasma bubble/sheath.’

Although the US Navy applied for the patent in 2016 and it was granted last year, it doesn’t necessarily mean the craft has been built and tested.

However, the technology is further evidence of the military’s interest in developing ‘exotic’ technologies.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that US government researchers investigated wormholes, antigravity, invisibility cloaking, warp drives and high energy laser weapons during a probe into ‘unexplained aerial phenomena’ called the Advanced Aerospace Threat and Identification Program (AATIP).

Details of AATIP were first released in 2017, including reports of a sighting made by fighter pilots from the USS Nimitz.

These pilots saw a huge patch of churning, turbulent water the size of a Boeing 737, suggesting something was beneath the surface, as well as a ‘tic tac’ aircraft which zoomed off at almost impossibly high speeds.

We spoke to Nick Pope, former UFO investigator at the Ministry of Defence, and asked if he saw any similarities between the patented design and the Nimitz Tic Tac.

‘A hybrid craft, capable of flying both in the air and underwater, is uncannily similar to what was reported in the USS Nimitz incident from 2004,’ he said.

‘There was a similar incident of a UFO flying underwater in Puerto Rico in 2013. The possible connection between the USS Nimitz incident and this patent is intriguing, and it’s interesting that the US Navy seems to be the link here.

‘It’s possible that the patent is inspired by the incident and is part of an attempt to work out the technology behind the objects that were chased by the Navy F-18s. This is known as ‘reverse-engineering’.’

He said a ‘key question’ is how the plans fit in with the wider AATIP project.

In the latest patent, author Salvatore Cezar Pais mentions Harold Puthoff, a key figure in AATIP who commissioned the 38 papers exploring exotic technologies, which were then used by Defense Intelligence Agency durings briefings filed with the US Congress.

‘The papers that got media attention related to anti-gravity, invisibility cloaking, warp drive and wormholes, but a key point is that many of the papers relate to exotic propulsion systems – not just the technology that would enable us to build a faster aircraft, drone or missile, but the technology that we’d need for interstellar travel,’ Pope added.

‘These patents might be the first steps in taking humankind to the stars.’

We asked if he believed the craft in the patent had ever been built.

This patent for a “craft using an inertial mass reduction device” is fascinating, and is one of three patents filed by US Navy scientist Salvatore Cezar Pais.

‘The other one of his patents that caught my eye was one for a “high-frequency gravitational wave generator”.

‘It’s sometimes hard to tell where the boundary lies between fringe science and science fiction. Furthermore, even if the theoretical physics turns out to be sound, aeronautical engineers still have to be able to build something, if any of this is to have any tangible effect.

‘If they have built the technology described in the patents, I’m sure the program is highly classified. The bottom line is that if any of this works, we’re in game-changing territory.’

Huge Triangle UFO hovers over San Antonio, Texas

My fiance told me to turn around and look at this craft in the sky. I stood there in shock until I thought to reach for my phone. When I first saw it, it was moving slowly and seemed very close as it was huge.

It stayed stationary, then seemed to rotate slowly as it raised higher and the lights went out one by one. I never saw a definitive shape and it looked as if it literally disappeared.

It was like the craft, possible a TR-3B, blended in with the sky except for the lights. there was no sound at all. the sighting lasted about 2 minutes.

Afterward, I heard first then saw two helicopters going toward the sighting. I then went inside my home.

Millions Hear Mysterious Global Hum That Has Scientists Stumped

A mysterious global hum is baffling scientists and millions of people around the world.

In fact, 4% of the world’s population, or roughly 308 million people, can hear the mysterious global hum, The Guardian claims. Specifically, 308 million is 4% of the current global population of 7.691 billion. However, nobody including scientists knows what causes the hum.

To clarify, the mysterious global hum is a sound similar to “an endless riff of heavy metal music” or whirring that people hear. Moreover, some people claim to have heard the worldwide hum since the 1960s or 1970s.

City Hears Mysterious Global Hum For Six Years

Strangely, people hear the hum all over the world. For instance, on Alaska’s Chichagof Island, in Sydney, Australia, as well as in London and Cheshire, England.

In addition, the mysterious global hum plagued residents of Windsor, Ontario (across from Detroit) for six years, The Guardian reports. Specifically, Windsor residents describe the hum as part noise and part vibration. Strangely, some Windsor residents compare the hum to the noise the Starship Enterprise makes as it prepares for Warp speed.

“You can’t get away from it,” Windsor resident Mike Provost tells The Guardian. “You go outside to work in your garden, you go outside to enjoy the sun, the noise is there.”

In detail, Windsor residents first heard the hum in 2010 and were still reporting it in 2016. However, Canadian scientists blame the hum on a U.S. Steel plant and other industrial facilities on Zug Island in the Detroit River. To elaborate, the scientists think industrial machines make the hum.

What Causes The Mysterious Global Hum?

On the other hand, industrial machines are not causing the mysterious global hum in places like Chichagof Island and London.

Presently, explanations for the hum range from tinnitus to lighting, to meteors, to the ocean, to electromagnetic energy, to volcanoes, to stress, to submarines, to noise pollution, to space aliens, The Guardian reports. Nevertheless, there is no hard evidence to verify any of those explanations.

“The bulk of the evidence suggests that the Hum is not an acoustic sound,” geoscientist David Deming says. “This is indicated by the simple fact that most people do not hear it.”

Mysterious Global Hum Baffles Scientists

Significantly, Deming has been investigating the hum since 2004 and found no causes. Notably, Deming‘s research began after hearing the hum himself.

Notwithstanding, Deming believes electromagnetic energy from low-frequency radio signals causes the mysterious global hum. Particularly, navies use such signals to communicate with submarines at sea.

Conversely, the hum got louder when a science teacher named Dr. Glen MacPherson locked himself in a special room designed to block low-frequency radio signals. As a result, MacPherson thinks the hum is neurological.

“This is caused by something internal–some internally generated perception of sound,” MacPherson tells The Guardian. Nonetheless, MacPherson cannot identify the internal cause of the mysterious global hum.

UFO Researchers Accidentally Finds Ship Wreak When Searching For Alien Underwater Bases, UFO Sighting News.

I was using Google Earth looking for alien bases and evidence of underwater bases when I found several ship wreaks by accident. Here is the best one that I found. It was just kind of amazing to me so I had to share it with you all. A lot of people say I only find things on the moon and Mars and they say its my imagination...well here is something similar to what I find on Mars, yet its on Earth. That mere fact makes most people believe their own eyes. If its not on Earth, they distrust what their eyes show them. Odd, I know, but thats how we are.

Giant Glowing UFO Seen In Sky With Two Moving Objects Within Its, April 2019, Video, UFO Sighting News.

Here is an interesting video about a glowing object seen in the sky with two different moving objects within it. At first it looks like it could be two rockets shot off at the same time, but really, who would risk such a thing? Even spacex wont do that. The fact that we don't see any contrails from rockets or trails leading to this glowing anomaly makes me believe that this is an alien creation.

200 Meter UFO Seen Over Volcano In Mexico On Live Cam, April 19, 2019 Video, UFO Sighting News.

Here is a great video of an eyewitness who caught a UFO flying through the smoke of the famous volcano Popocatepetl. The UFO appears to be a large disk viewed from the side and passes right through the smoke and over the mouth of an active volcano. No plane would ever dare to fly that close to this live volcano. Also its impossible that its a plane. The mouth of the volcano is 600+ meters across according to Wikipedia. That would make this flying object 200 meters across! Have you ever heard of a plane 200 meters long? Nope. So this is 100% evidence that aliens are active in Mexico.

Check out this amazing discovery near our sun. The giant cube got caught again and this time it looks 3D. You can really see two sides of the UFO very well. Its similar in structure to a Borg cube from Star Trek. Its seen visiting our sun every few weeks on the SOHO/NASA sun images. It must be very close to the SOHO satellite because it looks huge!

The eyewitness accidentally captured a UFO near a volcano in Spain last week. The UFO appears in one photo just above a group of people trekking up the mountain. When I make a close up of the UFO, I see there are no wings, no contrail, but it does appear to be a disk with a dome on its top center. UFOs are seen in mountain areas because many alien bases are hidden in remote location so that humans wont stumble upon them. Awesome capture.

Multiple Sky Watchers Have Recorded a Video of UFOs Moving Over Oxfordshire

A group of UFO researchers has seen orange coloured orbs and managed to record the mysterious event on video. David Twine, a Hampshire UFO Group member, said the incident took place during a group skywatch on the night of April 9, 2016. Four of them witnessed the orbs in their naked eyes and viewed them later through binoculars.

They were on a former Royal Air force station Stoney Cross, located close to junction 1 of the M27, Cadnam.

The group was looking on the Northern part of their viewpoint when the orb-like objects came into view, flying left to the right. The group recorded the video of their sighting with zoom function activated and in black and white. No sound from those flying objects was recorded or heard.

First reports involving these UFOs happened over Mevagissey in Cornwall, and then they were reported to fly east 185 miles towards Oxfordshire, around 50 to 80 miles north of the group’s location. The objects then continued moving across Northamptonshire and on towards Bedfordshire.

A jet aircraft can be seen at 4.38 time of the footage from the lower right to left. The pilots and/or passengers must have seen these orange objects.

The group sent Freedom of Information Request letters to the Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Defence for any additional information regarding this mysterious event. However, the group did not get a response.

Fast triangle UFO filmed over Oldham edge, UK

This really fast triangular shaped craft was filmed over England back in November 2018 and just submitted to our Facebook page.

This is a video I captured on the 6th November 2018 when filming a firework display in slow motion. Watch as 3 bright lights go from right to left. This was not visible with the naked eye.Looking back on other footage of the night, these three bright lights are captured moving faster than anything I’ve ever seen before.Filmed on Oldham edge, Oldham, England.

Huge flying saucer over south Florida, 15-Mar-2019

This UFO videos was just submitted through our Facebook page. It was shot in Florida on 15 March 2019.

Witness report: 

I witnessed this on a live camera feed where I work in south Florida. I had to cut the video short so as to not identify my work position or location. It is a security violation to do so. The object was not identified on radar as an aircraft nor a drone. It had heat and was identified clearly on our thermal cameras. It couldn’t have been an animal because of the heat it generated. We have been trying to figure out what it is since we seen it. This is raw footage just cut short, I don’t know how to edit it so as not to show our company details. 
The object flew very fast, descended and leveled out over the city. We thought it was a meteorite until it leveled out. I want to remain anonymous as I don’t want to jeopardize my job.
The large pulsating ball of light appears from the right corner and descends. The other white dot in the center is an airbus aircraft.
I’m sorry for not being able to send the entire video. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

"Perfectly Smooth Shell of a Craft” – A Look Inside The Real Secret Space Program

• • In spite of disinformation campaigns, bad journalism, and infiltration by intelligence agencies into mainstream media outlets that try to convince the public through “an official campaign of ridicule and secrecy” that there is no such thing as UFOs, we know that they’re real. There is a plethora of credible sources – including documents, data, physical evidence, and more – suggesting we’re not alone, and that we have been visited by intelligent extraterrestrial beings from other worlds and possibly other dimensions.
  
  • Garry McKinnon, for example, spent ten years in danger of extradition from the UK to the US for accessing nearly 100 NASA and military computers including the United States Space Command. On this government website, McKinnon found a photo of a large cylindrical shaped UFO hovering in space, a list of “non-terrestrial officers”, and logs of “fleet to fleet” transfers of materials. Is this evidence of a Secret Space Program using reverse engineered ET technology?
  
  • Dr. David Clarke, an international investigative journalist who regularly comments on UFOs, said, “… the UK military were interested in capturing UFO technology… [and] were desperate to capture this technology… before the Russians or the Chinese got hold of it first.”
  
  • In the US, these UFO investigative and research efforts are hidden within Special Access Programs which contain both unacknowledged and waived SAPs. Better known as ‘deep black programs’, these programs do not exist publicly, but they do indeed exist. We know that there is a black budget to fund these programs. A 1997 US Senate report described them as “so sensitive that they are exempt from standard reporting requirements to the Congress.”
  
  • According to Herman Oberth, one of the founding fathers of rocketry and astronautics in the 1950’s, “flying saucers are real and . . . they are space ships from another solar system. I think that they possibly are manned by intelligent observers who are members of a race that may have been investigating our Earth for centuries.” “We have, indeed, been contacted — perhaps even visited — by extraterrestrial beings, and the US government, in collusion with the other national powers of the Earth, is determined to keep this information from the general public.”
  
  • Former Chief of Defence Staff, Five-Star Admiral of the Royal Navy, and former Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Lord Admiral Hill-Norton, said: “There are objects in our atmosphere which are technically miles in advance of anything we can deploy… we have no means of stopping them from coming here… there is a serious possibility that we are being visited and have been visited for many years by people from outer space, from other civilizations… This should be the subject of rigorous scientific investigation and not the subject of ‘rubbishing’ by tabloid newspapers.”
  
  • There are literally hundreds of people with extensive academic, political and military backgrounds, all the way to astronauts, who have been blowing the whistle on extraterrestrial UFOs for a very long time. Many scientific publications describe radar-confirmed military sightings of UFOs by military pilots.
  
  • The point is, if you believe some of these UFOs are indeed extraterrestrial, you are not alone.

The field of UFOlogy has long been muddled with disinformation campaigns and bad journalism, and sometimes this journalism includes infiltration efforts by intelligence agencies themselves. This is clear given the fact that intelligence agencies have a direct relationship with journalists and mainstream media outlets, as there are declassified documents showing so. Operation Mockingbird is a great example, not to mention all of the mainstream media journalists who have come out and said that mainstream media is directly influenced by intelligence agencies, governments and corporations. When it comes to UFOs, we know that they’re real, but we also know that along with that reality there has been “an official campaign of ridicule and secrecy.” (Ex-CIA Director Roscoe Hillenkoetter) Perhaps this ridicule campaign carries on today through some rather ghastly, unbelievable claims, but let’s not let that mask the fact that this phenomenon is indeed real, and there are a plethora of credible sources including documents, data, physical evidence, and more suggesting we’re not alone, and that we probably are being visited and have been visited by intelligent extraterrestrial beings from other worlds and possibly other dimensions.

A lot of this evidence has come from UFOlogist Richard Dolan, who has always been a key resource for me with regards to accessing credible information about the UFO phenomenon. I find that it’s important to seek out proper researchers who share information in a credible and verifiable way, especially about a subject that can so easily be ridiculed when you are trying to reach the masses who don’t have much knowledge about it, but are genuinely curious. I also feel that my generation of UFO researchers lack proper research and investigative skills, are easily influenced and swayed, and in the age of social media are simply trying to share whatever they can, no matter how credible, to simply ‘stay relevant,’ instead of doing it for the love and genuine desire to share important, truthful information.

Like I said, there are some rather ‘outside the box claims’ out there that have absolutely no credibility behind them, and to share those actually does more disservice to the movement, in my opinion. On the other hand, there are some very outside the box claims and information that do indeed have tremendous amounts of credibility behind them, and these are the ones we should be paying attention to.

One example comes from the case of Garry McKinnon, who for 10 years was in great danger of extradition to the United States for accessing nearly 100 NASA and military computers including the United States Space Command. This was the real deal, as Obama and the UK Prime Minister at the time revealed while fielding a question about Garry. This breach made headline news.

Gary was able to access these computers in real time and view files on them. He found some startling pictures, one in particular was of a large cylindrical shaped UFO hovering in space, in addition to a strange spreadsheet document with a list of “non-terrestrial officers,” presumably belonging to a publicly unacknowledged branch of the United States military operating in space, as well as “fleet to fleet” transfers of materials, whatever that means.

Even mountain glaciers are now contaminated with microplastic

After finding microplastics in the deep oceans, tap water, and even inside humans, researchers have now discovered another ‘pristine’ area polluted by plastic: remote mountain glaciers.

It’s not the first time plastic pollution has been found in ice. Previously, researchers have found plastic in remote regions such as the Arctic — now, the same researchers have now discovered microplastics in the Forni Glaciers in the Swiss Alps.

Roberto Sergio Azzoni at the University of Milan and colleagues analyzed sediment samples from the glaciers, finding around 75 particles of microplastic per kilogram of sediment. If this is a representative sample, that would add up to 162 million plastic particles across the entire Forni glacier.

Microplastics are essentially any plastic piece under the size of 5 millimeters (0.2 inches) — whether they were produced this or degraded into smaller pieces. They generally enter natural ecosystems from a variety of sources such as cosmetics, clothing, and industrial processes. In this case, the plastic parts have a “local” origin: they most likely come from hi-tech hiking gear.

It’s a stern reminder that anywhere humans go, plastic pollution follows close by.

A 2014 study estimated that there are between 15 and 51 trillion individual pieces of microplastic in the world’s oceans. A more recent study from 2017 found that most of the world’s tap water is also contaminated with microplastics, as water filtration systems are unable to remove these small specs. Creatures of all shapes and sizes from marine ecosystems have also been found with substantial quantities of ingested plastic; often times, this turns out to be fatal. It’s estimated that it takes in excess of 1,000 years for microplastics to fully degrade in the environment.

Policy attempts at reducing microplastics have been shy. In 2018, the Japanese government unanimously voted a law to reduce microplastic pollution, but the law doesn’t specify any penalties for companies that don’t comply. In the US, states like Illinois have banned cosmetics containing microplastics, and at the national level, a 2015 law signed by President Barack Obama banned “rinse-off” cosmetic products that contain microplastics, but the law does not apply to other products such as household cleaners. The European Chemical Agency has also recommended measures to reduce microplastic pollution, but no concrete measures have been taken yet.

The latest findings have been presented at the European Geosciences Union conference in Vienna.
