Climate change will force new animal encounters — and boost viral outbreaks
Modelling study is first to project how global warming will increase virus swapping between species.

Over the next 50 years, climate change could drive more than 15,000 new cases of mammals transmitting viruses to other mammals, according to a study published in Nature1. It’s one of the first to predict how global warming will shift wildlife habitats and increase encounters between species capable of swapping pathogens, and to quantify how many times viruses are expected to jump between species.
Many researchers say that the COVID-19 pandemic probably started when a previously unknown coronavirus passed from a wild animal to a human: a process called zoonotic transmission. A predicted rise in viruses jumping between species could trigger more outbreaks, posing a serious threat to human and animal health alike, the study warns — providing all the more reason for governments and health organizations to invest in pathogen surveillance and to improve health-care infrastructure.
The study is “a critical first step in understanding the future risk of climate and land-use change on the next pandemic”, says Kate Jones, who models interactions between ecosystems and human health at University College London.
The research predicts that much of the new virus transmission will happen when species meet for the first time as they move to cooler locales because of rising temperatures. And it projects that this will occur most often in species-rich ecosystems at high elevations, particularly areas of Africa and Asia, and in areas that are densely populated by humans, including Africa’s Sahel region, India and Indonesia. Assuming that the planet warms by no more than 2 °C above pre-industrial temperatures this century — a future predicted by some climate analyses — the number of first-time meetings between species will double by 2070, creating virus-transmission hotspots, the study says.
“This work provides us with more incontrovertible evidence that the coming decades will not only be hotter, but sicker,” says Gregory Albery, a disease ecologist at Georgetown University in Washington DC and a co-author of the study.
The challenges of modelling
To make their predictions, Albery and his colleagues developed and tested models, and ran simulations over a five-year period. They combined models of virus transmission and species distribution under various climate-change scenarios, focusing on mammals because of their relevance to human health.
Source: Ref. 1
The team built the species-distribution model to predict where mammals would move to find more liveable habitats as the planet warms. The virus-transmission model predicts the probability of a virus jumping between species for the first time, by taking into account where species might meet as their habitats shift and how closely related they are evolutionarily (viruses are most likely to transmit between related species).
The modelling seems “technically impeccable”, says Ignacio Morales-Castilla, a global-change ecologist at the University of Alcalá, Spain, although he points out that forecasting exercises such as this sometimes need to include unrealistic assumptions. But he adds that the breadth and scope of the research and its ability to identify which parts of the world might be most at risk “clearly stand out”.
One assumption the researchers had to make was about how far and wide species would spread as the climate changes. But factors such as whether mammals can adapt to local conditions or physically cross barriers in landscapes are difficult to predict.
Bats are projected to be involved in viral transmission regardless of these factors, the study found. Thought to be part of the origins of COVID-19, bats are known reservoirs of viruses and make up about 20% of mammals. The team says that — in part because bats can fly — they are less likely to experience barriers to shifting their habitats.
Spillovers to humans?
Although Jones applauds the study, she urges caution when discussing its implications for human health. “Predicting the risk of viral jumps from mammals into humans is more tricky, as these spillovers take place in a complex ecological and human socio-economic environment,” she says.
Many factors could reduce the risk to human health, including increased investment in health care or a virus being unable to infect humans for some reason, she adds.
But the researchers urge that there is no time to waste. Earth has already warmed by more than 1 °C above pre-industrial temperatures, and this is driving species migration and disease swapping. “It’s happening and it’s not preventable, even in the best climate-change scenarios,” Albery says.
Albery and one of his co-authors, Colin Carlson, a global-change biologist also at Georgetown University, say that even though some increase in disease transmission is inevitable, that is no excuse for inaction. The researchers call on governments and the international community to improve the monitoring and surveillance of wild animals and zoonotic diseases, particularly in future hotspots such as southeast Asia. Improving health infrastructure is also essential, they say.
As people begin to prepare for and adapt to global warming, most efforts focus on activities such as halting deforestation or reinforcing sea walls. But Carlson says pandemic preparedness and disease surveillance are climate-change adaptation, too.

Marshall County UFO: Sheriff Val Johnson's Cracked Windscreen, Temporary Blindness, And Loss Of Time
Marshall County UFO: Sheriff Val Johnson's Cracked Windscreen, Temporary Blindness, And Loss Of Time
A UFO sighting by a Marshall County police officer in 1979 resulted in a smashed windscreen, temporary blindness, and a loss of time. An unexplained encounter with an unidentified flying object and the investigation that followed.
Sheriff Val Johnson's 1979 Marshall County UFO Incident
By any standard, the close encounter that occurred in the Red River Valley flatlands of far northwestern Minnesota in the early hours of August 27, 1979, must be judged one of the most remarkable - and evidential - UFO cases ever recorded. Unlike other potentially important UFO incidents, this one had the good fortune of being fully investigated and documented soon after its occurrence.
Deputy Sherrif Val Johnson, 35, was on duty on the west end of Marshall County, not far from North Dakota and approximately 45 miles south of the Canadian border. Around 1:40 a.m. Johnson, driving on County 5 west of Stephen, saw a light through his side window. The light was to his south, shining from a grove of trees standing alongside Highway 220, which he was approaching. It looked too glaring to be a vehicle headlight. Therefore, he reasoned, it could be from a downed airplane, perhaps one flown by drug smugglers from Canada.
Still, Johnson was not alarmed enough to call it into headquarters in Warren. First, he wanted to know with certainty what the light was. He turned south on 220 and accelerated to 65 mph. Now he was close enough to see that, oddly, the light was not illuminating the area or casting shadows. At that instant the light moved toward him, travelling so fast that it crossed the mile and a half separating him and it almost instantaneously. It made no sound, and even at close range it still looked like a blinding light.
"I heard glass breaking and saw the inside of the car light up real bright with white light,"he told reporter Jim Durkin the next day."It was very, very extremely bright. That's all I can remember... After the light hit my vehicle, I don't remember a thing."
When he returned to consciousness, his head was resting on the steering wheel, and his eyes were on the red "ENGINE" light on the dashboard. Lifting his head, he looked out the window and was alarmed to see the car had skidded sideways across the northbound lane and now faced eastward. The front tires were touching the gravel on the shoulder. Johnson could see only with difficulty.
He radioed headquarters and requested assistance. It was 2:19 a.m. His voice was shaky when he tried to answer the dispatcher's question about what had happened. "I don't know," he said. "Something attacked my car. I heard glass breaking, and my breaks locked up, and I don't know what the hell happened."
Deputy Greg Winskowski arrived on the scene shortly. Johnson was still inside the car, and when Winskowski opened the door, he saw a red bump on his colleague's forehead, leading him to deduce that Johnson had hit his head against the steering wheel and been knocked unconscious. Winskowski called an ambulance from the Warren hospital.
Val Johnson's patrol car at the scene of the incident
The ambulance driver thought Johnson appeared to be in a mild state of shock. At the hospital, Dr. W. A. Pinsonneault examined his eyes, which had a pinkish irritation on their surface. He was unable to examine them for long, however, because the doctor's probe light hurt so much that Johnson could not stand to be exposed to it for more than a few moments at a time. Pinsonneault likened them to "mild welder's burns" (caused by exposure to intense light) and handed out salve and bandages. Johnson gave a taped statement at the sheriff's office at 5 a.m. and then was driven home.
Sheriff Dennis Brekke, who had come upon the scene of the incident shortly after Winskowski's arrival, drove Johnson's patrol car, a 1977 Ford LTD, to the department garage. The drive was not a simple exercise because the car was damaged in a number of peculiar ways:
The inside headlight on the driver's side was smashed, though not its companion immediately to the left. On the hood, four feet four inches behind the smashed light and close to the windshield, was a flat-bottomed, circular dent, half an inch in diameter. (An investigator who saw it on the twenty-ninth noted, "As the 'creases' in the rear of the dent reveal, the pressure of the blow was delivered primarily downward and toward the windshield.") A crack in the windshield on the driver's side, about a foot and a half behind the dent, ran top to bottom, with four apparent impacts; it looked as if a cluster of small objects, stones perhaps, had done the damage. The car's electric clock, set correctly at 7 p.m. when Johnson came on duty, was 14 minutes late. So, weirdly, was the deputy's wind-up wristwatch, set at the same time.
Allan Hendry, who saw the car the following day, has described the other damage:
"The red plastic lens covering the roof light on the driver's side (2nd from left) shows a triangular puncture, and the lens was dislodged from the housing. Neither the missing piece of plastic nor any foreign debris could be found trapped inside the lamp housing. There is no apparent damage to the housing itself...
"The shaft of the three-foot roof antenna set on a spring-loaded base has been bent over at a 60-degree angle starting 5 1/2" above the spring. Insect matter can be seen still clinging to the metal (though the shaft is coated quite tenaciously with this tissue material). Oddest of all, the large "bubble" lamp is just inches in front of the antenna, and is virtually the same height as the location of the bend, but is unscathed...
"The trunk antenna is identical to the rooftop model... The bend this time is sharper still - 90 degrees - and involves only the upper 3 1/2" of the shaft. There is a rising angle of incidence from the first bend to the second one; with a 4'7" separation between antennas (horizontally) and an 18" rise in the second bend; this results in an 18-degree angle from front to back. This second antenna is for a CB radio. There was no damage to the car's regular telescopic antenna on the front hood. All the damage favoured the driver's side of the car. The rear antenna, 2'11" from the left side of the car, is the closest the damage got to the car's centerline."
At 11 a.m. Sherrif Brekke took his deputy, who still had bandages over his eyes, to Grand Forks, North Dakota, for a more comprehensive eye examination by opthalmologist Leonard Prochaska. Dr Prochaska found that Johnson's problems had cleared up. He was not surprised; as he would tell Hendry, it is not unusual for corneal flash burns (usually caused by exposure to strong sources of ultraviolet radiation such as a welders arc) to heal within hours.
Investigation and Analysis.
That morning the Sheriff also phoned the Centre for UFO Studies (CUFOS), then headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, and reported the incident. Allan Hendry, CUFOS' full-time investigator, took the call and quickly arranged to fly to the site the next day. Then he called military and civilian aviation facilities in Minnesota and North Dakota to see if any had picked up unusual traffic on the radar. None had.
Meanwhile, the Marshall County officers had found shattered pieces of headlight glass next to the milepost sign Johnson was near when the light accelerated in his direction. This seemed to establish that the "collision," if that is what it was, happened slightly over one mile south of the 5/220 intersection. The car travelled some 855 feet before dark skid marks in the pavement indicated that the brakes had locked up. The marks went on for an additional 99 feet before they curved to the east and crossed into the northbound lane. From an experiment with a car similar to the one Johnson had been driving, Brekke concluded that Johnson had been travelling at 48 mph when the skid marks started.
On the twenty-ninth Hendry, Johnson, Brekke, and others scoured the site. Nothing out of the ordinary registered on a Geiger counter. No additional physical evidence was recovered. Hendry determined that the damage was inconsistent with anything an airplane could have caused, and nothing he learned about Johnson's character and reputation led him to suspect the office of perpetrating a hoax - though, as we shall see, one commentator on the case would argue for this explanation of the case.
Meridan French, a windshield expert from the Glass Division of Ford Motor Company, flew to Warren to examine the fractures personally. His report reads in part:
"There were four distinct and separate fracture origins. One was on the inboard surface of the inner glass ply and three were on the exterior surface of the outer ply. Because all four origins were at different locations in the windshield, it is concluded that they represent four independent events. From the fracture patterns, however, it appears that the time between at least three events was extremely short, on the order of a few milliseconds... There was no penetration of the windshield laminate anywhere and no tears in the polyvinyl butyral interlayer... The character of all glass fractures showed them to be the result of mechanical forces rather than thermal stresses. In fact, there was no evidence of unusual heat, either general or localized... None of the four fracture origins were individually usual, any of which could be artificially reproduced. However, as a group and in combination they are difficult to explain... I judge the sequence of events to be as follows:
1. The first fracture was of the inboard ply with the fracture origin at the inside surface. The type of fracture would indicate an impact on the exterior surface of the windshield exactly opposite the fracture point. The impacting object was probably not metallic or stone-like because there was no apparent damage to the exterior surface at the point of impact. I would estimate the impacting object to be very firm, perhaps even hard, with a mass velocity sufficient to produce a relatively high (10,000 to 12,000 psi), highly localized stress. Examples of object types could range from a softball, baseball, or golfball to a rubber-headed hammer. Such a failure could also have been made with a blow from the side of a tightly closed fist.
In a laminated glass impact failure as described here, it is not unusual for the glass ply opposite the impact to fail while the impacted plate does not. Glass failure always originates as a defect or point of damage, and it often happens that the plate opposite the impact is the weaker of the two in the highly stressed impact area.
2. The second failure to occur was in the outer glass ply at a point approximately 0.9" below the first origin. The fracture is horizontal and forms a point of tangency between two circular crack patterns, one above the other. Failure originated on the outside surface from a relatively low level bending stress for which there are several possibilities:
Localized loading or pushing on the glass from the inside. This is unlikely because of the limited space between the glass and the padded cowl at the origin location.
Positive pressure inside the car which would bend the windshield outward.
Negative pressure outside the car which would achieve the same effect.
Localized inward bending of the glass by a relatively small impacting object for the first fracture would have caused a tensile bending stress in the outboard surface in the area of the second failure. This is the most plausible in view of the circular crack pattern above the second fracture origin.
3. The third fracture also originated on the outside surface about 1.0" below the second origin. In this case, the glass is severely crushed in a small, roughly circular area as though impacted by an extremely hard object but without sufficient force to cause additional cracking of the inner glass opposite the point of impact. There was no visible residue from the impacting object in the crushed glass area when examined closely with a 20x magnifier.
4. The fourth fracture origin was also on the exterior of the windshield, approximately 5.5" above the point of the second failure. This is also a bending stress failure oriented horizontally but is believed to be a secondary failure originating at a crack from an earlier failure.
5. There is also a band of very fine fractures several inches long with some degree of glass crushing, running almost vertically and just to the passenger side of the four principle fracture origins. This last cracking is all in the outboard ply, and I believe it to be a completely secondary fracture system probably resulting from normal flexing or cracking of the already broken windshield in moving the car after the original incident.
Even after several days of reflection on the crack pattern and apparent sequence of fractures, I still have no explanation for what seemed to be inward and outward forces acting almost simultaneously. I can only (conclude) ... that all cracks were from mechanical forces of an unknown source."
About the dent in the hood, French observed that evidently "some 1/2" diameter, flat-ended object made a forceful impact with the hood at that location and then tilted toward the windshield. It may even have been the source of the windshield impacts."
A team of engineers at the materials testing laboratory at Honeywell, Inc., Minneapolis, studied the two antennas, the glass pieces from the headlight, and the punctured plastic lens from the rooftop lamp. The engineers' analysis indicated that "flying particles" (such as rocks or stones) were responsible for the damage to the headlight glass and lamp plastic. But the bends in the antennas required mechanical forces uniformly applying several pounds of pressure. Other tests for magnetism or radiation produced no anomalous readings.
A Possible Hoax?
By the time Hendry arrived in Warren, local people were urging Johnson to undergo hypnosis and see if he could "recall" what happened during the sighting's missing 40 minutes. Evidently, some were speculating that he may have been abducted by a UFO. Johnson had no interest in the idea, and he also rejected suggestions that he take a polygraph test. As far as he was concerned, neither would accomplish anything besides satisfying other people's "morbid curiosity." His employers and his friends were sticking by him, and all he wanted to do was go on with his life. He turned down all invitations to appear on television, though he would change his mind and consent to a September 11 appearance on ABC television's Good Morning, America with Hendry.
Val Johnson standing with his squad car from 1979
In the absence of any direct evidence that Johnson had hoaxed the incident, Philip J. Klass, a fierce critic of the UFO phenomenon, argued the case by innuendo and buttressed it with sarcasm. In his view there were only two possible explanations: either the episode was a hoax, or "malicious UFOnauts" had hit the headlight, hood, and windshield with a "hammerlike device," gently bent the antennas, then set the clock and watch back 14 minutes. In other words, the alternative explanation - at least as Klass expressed it - was too absurd to be considered; therefore the incident must be a hoax.
Besides, Klass argued, Johnson's refusal to undergo a polygraph examination was suspicious. Debating Hendry at the Smithsonian Institution in September 1980, he claimed that "Deputy Val Johnson... likes to play practical jokes, especially in the late evening when he gets a little bored, as I learned... by talking to some of the people who have worked with him and know him very well."
It is hard to imagine by what definition the infliction of serious damage to a police car qualifies as a "practical joke." In a book published two years later, Klass cited as "evidence" a former co-worker's testimony that Johnson "did like to pull tricks on a guy once in a while... like maybe hide your coffee cup on you." This was the most damning charge Klass succeeded in uncovering, and even here his informant said, "I don't know if you'd call him a 'practical-joker'... As far as we know, he's never told us any untruths."
Similar Cases
Almost exactly two days after the Marshall County close encounter - but hours before the story hit the press - Russ Johnson (not related to Val Johnson) was travelling on Highway 50 on the western outskirts of Vermillion, South Dakota, at 2 a.m., August 29, when he spotted what he took to be a single blinding headlight ahead of him. It was stationary for only two seconds; then it streaked toward him and in two seconds had engulfed his car. He closed his eyes and hit the brakes. His car skidded to a stop, spinning sideways across the road until - like Val Johnson's vehicle - it faced east. Opening his eyes, he watched the light heading towards the west. It angled upward slightly before it disappeared.
When Johnson notified the police immediately afterwards, they, in turn, alerted Prof. Robert Adams of the nearby University of South Dakota. Adams spoke with the witness half an hour after the event. The next day he went to the site with the still-shaken Johnson and saw the skidmarks.
When Val Johnson's story became known, other Warren County residents came forward to detail their own recent UFO sightings. One night in mid-August Jon Linnell and his wife, on their way home from Northwood, North Dakota, to Warren, "saw bright lights over a field to my left," Linnell said:
"The light stayed in the same spot above the trees... 15 seconds later the thing came at us... It scared me. My wife said, 'It's going to hit us.' It came and hovered on top of us so we couldn't see what it was. We couldn't see the outline of it. When I'd almost stopped the car, it took a 180-degree turn and took off north. There were too many lights for a plane and there was no sound. When you tried to see what it was, it hurt your eyes."
Val Johnson said he had received three calls from individuals who stated that they had seen a bright light in the sky the night of his experience. In one instance, a farmer near Oslo (Johnson's hometown, just a few miles south of the encounter site) told him that - in Johnson's words - "a large light hovered over their farm bright enough to turn off his mercury yard light." Also "a bright light swooped down on a truck driver in the middle of the night," and, "one woman said a bright light passed over her farmstead and the electricity and television went out." None of these reports, unfortunately, was investigated.
Delphos UFO Incident: A Flying Object, A Bright Light & An Unexplained Landing Ring On The Ground
Delphos UFO Incident: A Flying Object, A Bright Light & An Unexplained Landing Ring On The Ground
In 1971, 16-year-old Ronald Johnson claimed to witness a UFO landing on his family's farm in Delphos, Kansas. The markings left on the ground by the alleged craft have baffled researchers for decades.
The story of the Delphos UFO ring from 1971
A remarkable physical trace UFO incident took place near the tiny north-central Kansas town of Delphos on November 2, 1971.
At around 7 p.m. Ronald Johnson, 16, and his dog were tending sheep some 200 feet behind the family house when his mother, Erma Johnson, called him in for supper. He told her he would be finished soon. She and her husband Durel went ahead with the meal. When they had finished, Mrs Johnson called again for Ronald, but there was no response this time.
Ronne Johnson
According to what he would tell his parents, shortly after his mother called him the first time, Ronald heard a "rumbling" sound. Then he saw, 75 feet away, in a small grove of trees on the other (northwest) side of the shed - an object become suddenly illuminated with a mass of blue, red, and orange colours. Nine feet in diameter and 10 feet high, the object looked something like the head of a mushroom with a small, fat portion of a stem beneath it. It was hovering two feet above the ground, and the illumination flowed down to the ground.
The light was so bright that it hurt Ronald's eyes when he looked at it directly. The sheep were bellowing as if disturbed. After several minutes the glow at the base grew more intense, and the object took off at an angle, clearing by no more than four feet a shed attached to the sheep pen. The rumbling sound ceased, to be replaced by a high-pitched wail.
At that moment Ronald lost his sight. Now he could only hear the sound of the object as it moved off toward the south, passing by the house. In a few minutes, Ronald's eyes cleared, and he looked up to the sky and saw the object there. He rushed into the house to tell his parents who, though they saw he was scared and frightened, refused to believe him. Mr Johnson did go outside, however, where he saw a bright light - half the apparent size of the full moon - in the southern sky. Mrs Johnson and Ronald joined him, and the three watched the object, with the bluish-white colour of an "arc-welder", move off into the distance.
They went over to the site where the UFO had first appeared. In the darkness, they observed a glowing, gray-white circle. Parts of the trees near the circle were glowing as well. Mr and Mrs Johnson placed their hands inside the circle and found that the soil was not warm, as they had expected it to be. It felt, however, as if it had been crystallized. Even more weirdly, the couple's fingers became numb. When Mrs Johnson tried to rub off the soil residue on her leg, the part of the leg she touched also went numb. The condition persisted for several weeks afterwards, according to her. Unfortunately, neither she nor her husband sought medical attention.
Mr Johnson retrieved a camera and took a picture of the circle and its surrounding environment. He then phoned Willard Critchfield, editor of the Delphos Republican. It was now 8 p.m.
Photo taken by the Johnsons approximately ten minutes after the alleged UFO landing
Investigations Into The Delphos UFO
Editor Critchfield did nothing about the call, so the next day Durel and Ronald Johnson drove into town to speak with Thaddia Smith, a Republican reporter. She, her husband, and her son-in-law accompanied the Johnsons to the farm. That afternoon she provided a statement to Ottawa County Sheriff Ralph Enlow. This is what Smith saw when she got there:
"The circle was still very distinct and plain to see. The soil was dried and crusted. The circle or ring was approximately 8 feet across, the center of the ring and outside area were still muddy from recent rains. The area of the ring that was dried was about a foot across and was very light in color.
The object had crushed a dead tree to the ground either when it landed or when it took off, and from appearance had broken a limb of a live tree when it landed. The broken limb was most unusual, it would snap and break as though it had been dead for quite some time, yet it was green under the bark, and the upper area still had green leaves clinging to its branches. However, the lower area was free of all leaves and some of the bark on the lower areas looked as though it had been blistered and had a whitish cast."
Having been alerted by a phone call from Smith, Sheriff Enlow, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Kenneth Yager, and Undersheriff Harlan Enlow drove to the Johnson farm at 2 p.m. that day and interviewed the three. In his official report Undersheriff Enlow wrote:
"Mr Johnson took us out behind the hog house where we observed a ring shaped somewhat like a doughnut with a hole in the middle. The ring was completely dry with the hole in the middle and outside of the ring mud. There were limbs broken from a tree and a dead tree broken off, there. There was a slight discoloration on the trees. We were given a picture taken the previous evening which showed that the ring glowed in the dark. Undersheriff Enlow took a soil sample from the dried ring and photographed it.
The soil sample taken was almost white in color and very dry. We used a Civil Defense Radiological Monitor to determine that the soil was not radioactive. The soil sample and photographs are stored in the vault in the Sheriff's Office pending further investigation by the proper authorities."
On November 3, 1971, Mr Lester Ernsbarger of 416 Argyle Street in Minneapolis (11 miles south of Delphos) advised Deputy Sheriff Leonard Simpson that at approximately 7.30 p.m. the previous night (the same night as Ronald Johnson's sighting) he had observed a bright light descending in the sky in the Delphos area.
Delphos ring a little over 3 years after the incident
On December 4, Ted Phillips, a Missouri-based UFO investigator who specialized in physical-trace cases, met Sheriff Enlow in the latter's Minneapolis office. The sheriff gave Phillips a soil sample he had taken the day after the sighting. Then they went to the Johnson farm.
Evidence of the incident was still to be seen. According to Phillips:
"As we approached the site we walked around a small shed and through scattered trees. To my amazement there was the ring, with snow melting from the ground in all the surrounding area, still to be seen after 32 days. It was perfectly outlined in the unmelted snow. Although the surrounding soil was extremely moist, we found that if the snow was removed from any portion of the ring the soil directly beneath the snow was dry and light brown in color, in contrast with the black, moist soil in the ring center and around the ring.
We removed snow from one section of the ring and introduced water into the exposed ring area: the soil would not permit the water to pass through the surface. This was most remarkable, as there had been several inches of rain and snow between November 2 and December 4.
Mr Johnson and I next removed a sample from the ring. The sample contained a high concentration of a white substance, and this white material was evident in all of the ring soil that we exposed. The particles were not to be found in the soil in the center of the ring, or in the surrounding soil. The ring soil was quite dry to a depth of at least twelve inches. The soil outside the ring was also sampled and was simply black and wet to a depth of at least eight inches. I cannot imagine soil exposed to the elements remaining so dry for such a long period of time."
Phillips made a second trip to the area on January 11, 1972. He discussed the possibility of a hoax with the sheriff and Thaddia Smith. Both discounted the idea. The sheriff called the Johnsons "well known and well respected," Smith agreed.
Seven separate soil analyses conducted by a university and other laboratories sought to compare control samples with samples taken from within the ring. The latter was found not to absorb water, had a higher acid content, and contained soluble salts as well as two to two and a half times more calcium. They also produced less seed growth and were coated with a hydrocarbon of low molecular weight that various analysts were able to remove only by heating to 100 degrees C, or washing with ethyl alcohol. Embedded in the ring soil samples was a second unusual organic material of higher molecular weight. This second substance was composed of white, crystal-like fibers. In other words, the results of the tests performed at the time were interesting but inconclusive, leaving several mysteries in their wake. "There seems to be," scientist Michael D Swords writes, "no question that the surface soil was hydrophobic (resistant to water), luminescent, and anesthetic, but to what this can be attributed is still unknown."
In the late 1980s British chemist, Erol A Faruk conducted his own independent analyses of Delphos samples. He concluded that probably something unusual and potentially significant had occurred:
"I would say that the data presented in this research do not lead to a definitive view on the origin of the Delphos ring. I would, however, still maintain that: (1) a simple hoax (as was proposed by debunker Philip J Klass) is almost certainly ruled out by the soil chemistry; (2) a fungal fairy-ring hypothesis (suggested as an explanation by some skeptics) leaves many questions unanswered; and (3) the model developed from the ring soil chemistry, and from characteristics that support the sighting of an unconventional aerial object, is the most tenable explanation for the ring - despite its implications."
Erol A Faruk's book analysing the Delphos UFO incident
Another fascinating UFO encounter that still remains a mystery over 40 years later. Let us know your thoughts on the Delphos UFO ring in the comments section below.
A world-renowned scientist and former USAF engineer, using a telescope, photographed a 250 meter diameter UFO flying at a speed of 48,000 km/h
But this is just one of the huge UFOs, as many more have been recorded. According to Frederick Portigal, “this is absolute proof that aliens are already here” .
Frederick Portigal, a former US Air Force and Boeing engineer, captured UFO images and data with a hyperspectral imaging telescope.
Hyperspectral remote sensing, also known as imaging spectroscopy, is a technique studied by scientists to detect and identify minerals, terrestrial plants, and man-made materials and landscapes.
Portigal has a message for our world: “giant alien ships are entering Earth through dimensional portals”
According to the former Boeing chief engineer, aliens use wormhole penetration technology to move these plasma-like UFOs close to the Earth’s surface at a speed of 30,000 miles per hour.
Telescopic images from Portigal captured the stunning sights of plasma-like objects flying at inconceivable speeds near the Petroglyph National Monument near Albuquerque, New Mexico.
His telescope was in Sandia Heights with a field of view of about 15 miles. According to Frederick, this is absolute proof that aliens are here.
“It’s probably evidence of a mining operation, but who knows what’s in the cargo that materializes and passes through the wormholes after each plasma passes.”
Portigal added another note regarding the alien spacecraft, “they are traveling through wormholes, and the other possibility is a gap between parallel universes.”
It is unnecessary to inform the reader of the implications of what Mr. Portigal is raising here. Is he trying to mislead the public…or is it time to reconsider what whistleblowers have tried to express for decades?
The images captured by Google Maps show some structures or military complex with a kind of “Stargate” device, a short distance from the famous Area 51.
According to UFO researchers, this “Stargate” was built thanks to the ‘ Pegasus Project ‘, where different types of tests were carried out between 1968 and 1976.
Evidence that was basically “to travel in time and space, and possibly through parallel universes.”
Gravitational and magnetic research carried out long ago by UFO researcher Joshua Warren tells us that near Groom Lake, the time would decrease by 20 milliseconds.
Warren is convinced that it is a gravitational anomaly.
Warren himself tells us that in this place there could be a “Stargate” or a “Wormhole” that represents a temporal-gravitational dimension.
This is the effect of time flowing at different speeds in regions of different gravitational potential.
“For example, in the vicinity of a black hole, the slowest time will flow.”
Clearly, Warren was not wrong since this military complex was discovered with the “Stargate device.”
According to some whistleblowers, the Department of Defense developed Stargates or technology for space-time travel more than 40 years ago.
As early as 1967, the United States government allegedly used a facility dedicated to this and built on the basis of Tesla’s quantum access.
This technology has been used to keep the construction of military installations secret, as well as offering political and economic benefits by knowing what the future holds.
Some say the CIA confiscated the documents from the Tesla transporter shortly after his death.
The Dr. Andrew D. Basiago participated in the DARPA Project Pegasus (from 1968 to 1972) which focused on time travel.
He said that the CIA and the US Navy operating Area 51 were actively training groups of US military and students to become the first generation of dimensional explorers.
The “Stargate ring” visible on Google Maps is part of the underground military complex called «Century IV», which is part of Area 51, where work began on the «Aquarium» project in 1990.
The same microbiologist Dan Burisch who worked on Area51 describes a Stargate that is located near the secret base and near Lake Groom.
Dan says that “next to this huge device is a platform with a Portal that allows the object to be thrown into the wormhole to travel to other stars, teleporting people or materials from one place to another instantly.”
This device is also known as ” Looking Glass ” and was used to see the probabilities of future events.
As Burisch states, many wars and catastrophes would have occurred due to these Stargates. According to Burisch, there are fifty Stargates on Earth.
“Today, the human race would be in danger of extinction due to climate change, and the elite could be using these devices to build bases and shelters on other worlds.”
Spaceship Moon Theory: Is The Moon An Artificial Alien Satellite
Spaceship Moon Theory: Is The Moon An Artificial Alien Satellite
Back in the summer of 1969, Apollo 11 landed the first humans, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on the moon in a mission they called “one giant leap for mankind.”
Speculative cutaway model of a Spaceship Moon
Over the years, it has been scientifically observed that the Earth’s Moon holds some strange characteristics.
The Moon is the 5th largest natural satellite in the Solar System. It is believed to have been created by a giant impact between the young Earth and a Mars-sized body.
After examination, it has been noted that the Moon is apparently in the wrong orbit for its size, according to its current assumed density. Astronomy data indicates that the internal regions of the Moon are less dense than the outer, giving rise to the inevitable speculation that it could be hollow.
Some of these claims come from the fact that when meteors strike the Moon, it rings like a bell. More specifically, when the Apollo crew, on November 20, 1969, released the lunar module, after returning to the orbiter, the module impact with the Moon caused their seismic equipment to register a continuous reverberation like a bell for more than an hour.
In July of 1970, members of the then Soviet Academy of Sciences, Michael Vasin and Alexander Shcherbakov, proposed the Spaceship Moon Theory.
The pseudoscientific theory claims that the Earth’s moon may actually be an alien spacecraft. Vasin and Shcherbakov’s thesis was that the Moon is a hollowed-out planetoid created by unknown beings with technology far superior to any on Earth.
Huge machines would have been used to melt rock and form large cavities within the Moon. The Moon would, therefore, consist of a hull-like inner shell and an outer shell made from metallic rocky slag.
The “Spaceship Moon” was then placed into orbit around the Earth. Proponents of this theory point to the increased reports and pictures of UFOs taken by NASA on their missions to the moon.
The moon has tens of thousands of craters of various sizes covering the surface; however, all of the craters have the same depth. This suggests to scientists that there may be some sort of metallic barrier underneath the surface protecting it from damage.
It has been found that asteroids and meteors not only create shallow craters on the Moon’s surface, but produce a convex floor to the crater instead of concave as expected, supporting the idea of a rigid shell.
The moon is far older than previously expected, maybe even older than the Earth or the Sun. The oldest age for the Earth is estimated to be 4.6 billion years old, while Moon rocks were dated at 5.3 billion years.
The chemical composition of the dust upon which the rocks sit is remarkably different from the rocks themselves. This indicates that the lunar surface may have been moved from somewhere else and placed on the Moon.
Some of the Moon’s craters originated internally, yet there is no indication that the Moon was ever hot enough to produce volcanic eruptions. Hundreds of moonquakes are recorded each year that cannot be attributed to meteor strikes. Some of the quakes seem to follow a specific schedule.
The moon’s crust is much harder than originally presumed. When NASA was recorded drilling down a few inches into the Moon’s surface, it appeared that metal shavings were visible.
Earth’s moon is the only natural satellite in the Solar System that has a stationary, near-perfect circular orbit. How does one explain the coincidence that the moon is just the right distance, coupled with just the right diameter, to completely cover the sun during an eclipse?
Professional astronomers have been gradually discouraged from investigating a phenomenon that has been reported on the Moon for 1,000 years. It is short-lived light, color, or other changes in the appearance of the lunar surface, referred to as Transient Lunar Phenomena.
The moon is also known to contain a unique combination of metals. According to Ancient Code, it includes traces of metals that are not naturally occurring, such as brass. The amount of titanium that is found on the moon is also 10 times what is found on Earth. Scientists call this ratio “mind-blowing.”
The mysteries of the moon and the universe are far from being solved and the possibilities of what lies beyond our earth’s atmosphere may not be discovered in our lifetime.
The facts and theories that define the universe are malleable with every new thought, technological advancement and scientific discovery. It’s just a matter of what’s next.
Hey all, how's it going? Covid is getting a little nuts here in Taiwan, in two weeks it went from 50 local cases a day to 15,000 per day. Its Omicron stealth so its less dangerous, but still irritating. Its the first time covid ever got out of control here.
So anyways, I have been receiving messages on Twitter, IG, FB and more about UFOs. People keep telling me that UFOs don't make clouds. I'm not sure why they limit the abilities of alien tech when its so advanced it can nearly do anything? So I made these two videos. The first video is a minute and a half, showing only the UFO in Chile making a cloud to distract the Navy helicopter...an attempt to see if the aliens are underestimating the humans abilities to track them or not. The aliens quickly found out...they were visible to the helicopters. This seemed to intrigue the aliens, so the stuck around for a little over ten minutes. The second video shows the full Chile Navy released raw footage of the UFO. You can see the UFO make the trail in both infrared and in normal color, however the UFO is almost invisible except a white spot reflecting the clouds color below it. So, not only does this footage confirm UFOs can make clouds, but it also confirms infrared video can cut through the alien crafts cloaking devices allowing us to see them. It also confirms that aliens enjoy testing us...with or without us knowing it.

AND YOU CONTROL IT WITH A VR SETUP!
JR WEST
Based Bot
A Japanese company is taking service robotics to a whole new level with a giant, humanoid maintenance robot.
As New Atlas and other blogs reported, the West Japan Rail Company, also known as JR West, is now using a humongous Gundam-style robot to fix remote railway power lines — and to make it even cooler, the robot is piloted by an actual human wearing a VR setup.
With a giant barrel-chested torso mounted on a hydraulic crane arm that can lift it up to 32 feet in the air, this maintenance robot’s head looks a bit like Pixar character “WALL-E” and moves in tandem with the motions of its human pilot who tells it where to look and what to do.
Riding the Rails
So far, this robot developed by the JR West in tandem with the Nippon Signal railway signal technology company is just a prototype and won’t be put to work widely until 2024. Nevertheless, it’s an awesome peek into the future of service robots, which up until now have mostly freaked people out as they chase them through stores — or worse, assist with police arrests and border patrolling.
Though it was made by the rail industry, there’s little doubt that once it’s available for purchase, other markets will be interested in getting in on the action.
May the future of service robots be more Gundam and less police bot!
All kinds of videos and photos of UFOs have been published on social networks, in which their authors claim to have seen the strange objects in the sky.
A few days ago we talked about Jeremy Corbell and the leak of a video by the US Navy. And we recently talked about the incredible sighting of a triangular craft coming out of the moon.
Now, we have before us something unusual and very clear. If they were “alien ships” this means that they are not hiding from anything, since this filming was made on September 18, 2013, supposedly east of Wittenberg, Germany.
If we are looking at terrestrial ships in the shape of a triangle, such as the TR3-B, they undoubtedly contain unknown technology, and that can be noticed and seen in a fragment of the recording.
Are we facing something real? Although this comes from the year 2013, such as the persecution of an object similar to the ‘tic tak’ of Puerto Rico, the dates have nothing to do, the important thing is to know the truth.
Two ships similar to the TR-3B , at first, can be noticed in the filming, an incredible display of high technology never seen before, by the dexterity they perform.
Without a doubt, if this is real, this is probably the best UFO recording we have ever seen.
The comments on this recording range from the speed that one of the ships takes, to which they say it cannot be human, until it may be a drone.
But does a drone have this shape? That is the big question. What are we facing? Real or fake from the year 2013?
Michio Kaku: 3 mind-blowing predictions about the future
Michio Kaku: 3 mind-blowing predictions about the future
What lies in store for humanity? Theoretical physicist Michio Kaku explains how different life will be for your descendants—and maybe your future self, if the timing works out.
Carl Sagan believed humanity needed to become a multi-planet species as an insurance policy against the next huge catastrophe on Earth. Now, Elon Musk is working to see that mission through, starting with a colony of a million humans on Mars. Where will our species go next?
Theoretical physicist Michio Kaku looks decades into the future and makes three bold predictions about human space travel, the potential of “brain net”, and our coming victory over cancer.
“[I]n the future, the word ‘tumor’ will disappear from the English language,” says Kaku. “We will have years of warning that there is a colony of cancer cells growing in our body. And our descendants will wonder: How could we fear cancer so much?”
Since the first UFO sighting, many types, shapes, and features of unidentified flying craft have been recorded. From the most common, saucer-shaped to the silent hovering UFOs, there are hundreds of thousands of cases around the world. Still, there is a vague answer to this mystery. However, there are three lesser-known sightings that might prove that extraterrestrial craft visited earth at least three times in the last decades.
First sighting: Skylab III Mission – September 20, 1973 – southwestern Indian Ocean
Skylab III was the second crewed mission to the first American space station, Skylab. The mission began on July 28, 1973 and ended on September 25, 1973. It lasted 59 days. The crew consisted of three astronauts: Alan Bean, Owen Garriott, and Jack Lousma.
On September 20, 1973, the astronauts saw a bright red light, which they described as a “red satellite.” They said it was rotating because it had a variation in brightness. The object followed them for more than 10 minutes, and at around 16:46 GMT, the astronauts lost visual contact with the UFO after both Skylab and the object crossed the sunset terminator into darkness. According to Alan Bean, it was one of the most unusual things they had seen.

What makes this sighting so mysterious is that the object’s orbit was dangerously close to Skylab’s orbit, so it should have been picked up by NORAD at some time during its orbit. There was no report that NASA or NORAD detected any object near Skylab. The astronauts never saw the object again. The photos of the UFO were removed from NASA’s archives. Below is the trajectory of both Skylab “blue” and the UFO “red.”

NASA had an agreement with the US intelligence community that dated from the beginning of the Gemini program. All astronaut photographs of the Earth would first be reviewed by the National Photographic Interpretation Center in Building 213 in the Washington, DC Navy Yard. NPIC was an organization managed by the CIA that interpreted satellite and aerial photography.
On April 19, 1974, someone in the CIA sent the Director of Central Intelligence William Colby a memorandum regarding a little problem. “The issue arises from the fact that the recent Skylab mission inadvertently photographed” the airfield at Groom Lake. “There were specific instructions not to do this,” the memo stated, and Groom “was the only location which had such an instruction.” In other words, the CIA considered no other spot on Earth to be as sensitive as Groom Lake, and the astronauts had just taken a picture of it.
Second sighting: Voronezh, Russia – November 8, 1989
The second sighting of this UFO took place in the Russian city of Voronezh on November 8, 1989, during the 1989 UFO wave in the USSR. Two Russian cadets named Alexei Fomin and Alexander Petrov, from the Voronezh High Aviation Engineering School, photographed a strange object in the sky. The UFO was grey/white in color and surrounded by a pink halo. It hovered above the city for around 6 minutes, then it started decreasing in size and vanished, leaving a trail of smoke in the sky.
Experts carefully examined the image to determine if the spherical object had been edited.

This is the photo of a football-shaped UFO flying over a Russian city that convinced an expert it was real.

The supposed UFO appeared a few weeks later, when school children from South Park along Mendeleev Street in Voronezh claimed to have seen three aliens emerge out of a large, shining ball. Additionally, experts who analyzed the photo did not find any forgery with the images.
Third sighting: Bekasi City, Indonesia – June 29, 2020
This 50-second UFO footage was filmed by an Indonesian man named Ardian Syamsudin. The UFO sighting took place in the city of Bekasi on June 29, 2020. According to Ardian, the UFO appeared at night on several occasions.
Fortunately, he was able to record it on his phone. The UFO appears to glow in a violet/pink color and looks very similar to the 1989 sighting in Voronezh.
Here is an image comparison of the three UFO sightings. Is this all just a coincidence? Could it be that the same UFO visited Earth for at least 47 years?
Coming back to the Skylab incident, NASA had an agreement with the US intelligence community that dated from the beginning of the Gemini program. All astronaut photographs of the Earth would first be reviewed by the National Photographic Interpretation Center in Building 213 in the Washington, DC Navy Yard. NPIC was an organization managed by the CIA that interpreted satellite and aerial photography.
NASA conspirators have full assurance that the US space agency has been covering the evidence of UFOs since the first Apollo mission. Donna Hare claimed to have worked for NASA contactor Philco Ford in the early 1970s. She had a high-security clearance to walk in NASA’s photo lab and other departments.
During the Disclosure Project press conference, Hare revealed that NASA covered up and eliminated space anomalies such as UFOs from the satellite photos. Hare has got several awards in the space programs. She dedicated most of her time as a technical illustrator to space programs. She created lunar maps, landing slides and had been working for 15 years as a sub-contractor for NASA. (Click here to read more about it)
The most so-called common extraterrestrial species described by contactees and witnesses is “Grey” or “Gray.” There are various accounts recorded in the government files where Greys are widely discussed. Preston Dennett, a well-known UFO researcher has the interesting case of a woman from California who encountered a gray alien named “Sen.”
In his book, “Wondrous: 25 True UFO Encounters,” published in 2021, Dennett presented the encounters of Julia (pseudonym) and what she learned from Grey called Sen about her own encounters and the alien agenda on our planet.
At 19 years old, Julia left her family and home in Prunedale, California. Her childhood had been difficult, filled with unexplained events. She had tried to get help from her parents, but they were strict and did not understand her. So, Julia left everything behind and decided to get as far away from her home as she could.

She ended up settling on the east coast of the United States, where she began to rebuild her life. She found a job and a place to live. She started her own small business, made friends, and met the man who would one day become her husband.
Finally secure, she began to examine her childhood, trying to figure out the source of her trauma. She remembered terrifying events during which her room was filled with light and shadowy figures approached her. She came upon the subject of aliens and UFOs. She realized that it was probably what had happened. It was aliens. But the whole idea terrified her and she refused to think about it.
She decided to just drop the subject not to think about it and move on with her life, but in 2011 everything changed. She had a sudden and very strong impulse to move back to California and as she said, “I honestly can’t tell you why I felt like I was being directed to do this.”
So, she and her boyfriend moved to pacific grove California and this is when her life started to get really strange again. She started having some weird harmonic ringing sounds in her ear, and her right ear was like tinnitus. She went to the doctor, but he could not explain it. There were no insects in her ear canal as she feared, and it was not tinnitus. The doctor had no diagnosis.
UFO Sightings
Then came the UFO sightings, weird glowing orbs hovering over the house. One evening, there was a ship overhead. Julia saw it through the skylight above her bed. The next thing she knew, she was paralyzed. A short time later, she fell asleep.
In the morning, she told everything her boyfriend. She could no longer live in denial. The memories of her childhood experience were flooding back. The excruciating tones in her right ear were becoming unbearable. UFOs were hovering over their house, and she finally found the reason for her problems. It was aliens, and they had been visiting her since she was a girl. Now they were back, and she believed the source of the tones in her ear was probably an alien implant.
Her boyfriend was shocked, but he was also very supportive. He believed her but had no idea how to help her. Deeply in love, they got married.
Extraterrestrial Contact
Julia examined her childhood. She remembered seeing colorful orbs when she was a little girl. She recalled hundreds of times when her bedroom was filled with light and scary shadowy figures materialized around her. She remembered a dramatic UFO sighting of a giant flying saucer when she was ten. Julia could no longer deny that she was having contact with extraterrestrials.
David Huggins’ drawing represents the encounter with the so-called Gray alien. (This image is only for illustration purposes)
Then one evening, she woke up to hear a weird musical sound reverberating through the house. She wandered around, trying to locate the source. Then she realized, it was inside her head. Next thing she knew, Julia found herself being pulled onboard a craft. She saw that she was laying on a table in a small, round room, surrounded by short, thin, gray-skinned beings with large bald heads and big dark eyes.
They handed her a baby and asked her to hold it. It looked just like a gray alien. Julia was shocked. And looking outside the craft, she saw the darkness of space, and far below her, the planet Earth.
The next thing she knew, it was morning, and she was back in bed. Looking at her stomach, she saw three bleeding puncture wounds. Both Julia and her husband were shocked and traumatized. And they became even more shocked when they discovered that Julia was pregnant.
From this point, events escalated. Julia kept waking up to find herself unable to move. One evening, her husband woke up to see a gray alien entering their bedroom. Shortly later, Julia had a miscarriage. She was secretly relieved. The pregnancy had not felt normal, and she was certain that it had something to do with the night she was taken on board a craft.
At that point, her experiences ended. Or so she thought. They fled California and moved to the east coast. They had a baby boy and became pregnant with their second child. Then, one morning, Julia decided to reach out mentally to contact the gray alien baby she had held in her arms years ago.

To her shock, she made instant contact. In her mind, she saw a gray. He introduced himself and said his name was Sen and that he was made up of her DNA. Then began an hours-long conversation in which Julia learned all the answers about everything that had happened to her throughout her life.
She felt very strongly telepathically connected to him to the degree that she actually found herself inside this little ship with him and could see everything he was seeing. This was the beginning of an hours-long conversation between Julia and Sen.
Julia said he showed her his planet, spaceship, and technology. Further, she was told about their agenda. Sen explained to her that his race used humans to bridge themselves back into the law of attraction. A long time ago, their species was like humans, beautiful creatures that reproduced on a planet they chose a life of exploration among the stars and began to experiment on themselves to create bodies better suited for space travel.
They began the long process of eliminating the strands of DNA that existed in the law of attraction hormones and emotions the vibrations and frequencies were changed using light therapy. This changed them physically into creatures that eventually became asexual once sensed people stopped feeling the vibration and frequency of attraction. They began to stop feeling a connection to each other, reproduction became uninteresting, and they began to clone themselves and some travel in space.
Julia came to know about the weird noise in her ears. Sen told her:
“It’s not us it’s you it’s the sound of your hormonal frequencies it is your sound and we are mapping that frequency.”
Julia noted:” He explained that the implant in my ear was a recording device that emitted and mapped the vibrations made by my hormonal and emotional responses. They mapped this vibration in order to replace this frequency with their own DNA. The baby I held on the ship had pieces of me but mostly they used vibrations that they had recorded into its DNA and when they handed me the baby.”

A New Kind of Stellar Explosion Has Been Discovered: Micronovae
A New Kind of Stellar Explosion Has Been Discovered: Micronovae
The most energetic explosions in the Universe come from stars called supernovae. These galactic bombs have the energy of about 1028 mega-tons. After they detonate, the only thing left behind is either a neutron star or black hole. Another type of stellar explosion is known as a nova which has much less energy and covers the surface of a white dwarf.
Now, a team of astronomers recently discovered a new type of stellar explosion akin to supernovae and novae but with much less energy, and they’re calling it a micronova.
An artist’s impression of a micronova explosion from the base of the accretion
There are two types of supernovae, type I and type II. The first type happens in a binary star system, where two stars are gravitationally bound by each other, one being a white dwarf. The white dwarf collects matter from its companion star and eventually explodes, leaving nothing behind. The second type occurs when a star with enough mass, estimated to be in the range of eight to fifteen solar masses, runs out of nuclear fuel and its core collapses. The rebound from the collapse causes its outer layers to expand outward, leaving behind a neutron star or black hole.
A nova also happens on a white dwarf star in a binary star system and when enough material gathers on the surface of the star, a fusion reaction happens causing an explosion that engulfs the whole surface. This blast emits as much energy as our sun releases in 10,000 years.
Novae occurring on white dwarfs in a binary star system cover the entire star’s surface. However, while the newly discovered micronovae are caused by the same thing, these explosions happen when the material accreted onto the white dwarf from its companion accumulate at its magnetic poles. Novae can last for several weeks, but micronovae last only a few hours.

While examining data collected from NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), the astronomers “discovered something unusual: a bright flash of optical light lasting for a few hours. Searching further, we found several similar signals,” said Nathalie Degenaar, co-author of the paper recently published in the journal Nature (quoted from source).
They spotted three micronovae with this data. Using the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) they were able to verify one of the star’s status as a white dwarf; the other two were known white dwarfs.
It is unknown how often these micronovae happen. According to Simone Scaringi of Durham University in the UK who is the lead astronomer for the team, “One of the systems shows evidence for micronovae recurring about every 100 days or so. Another target shows the bursts happening about every day on the other hand.” The regularity seems to be tied in to the amount of mass the white dwarf collects over a set amount of time. “The faster recurring system has a much higher mass accretion rate than the other system.”
Continuing on, Scaringi says “It may be that a specific system will show the (recurring) micronovae events only when the material being funneled on to the magnetic poles can remain confined for long enough to reach thermonuclear triggering conditions. In some occasions this may not happen, and material will (evenly) spread around the entire white dwarf surface, potentially building a layer of fresh hydrogen that may grow over time and drive a classical nova.”
“”These events may actually be quite common, but because they are so fast they are difficult to catch in action,” Scaringi explains” (source). In order to answer these questions the team wants to find more of these micronovae outbursts and are looking forward to using data from large-scale surveys combined with rapid response observations from telescopes like the VLT or ESO’s New Technology Telescope.

Interview of Lue Elizondo – Former Director of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program
Luis Elizondo is a former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent and former employee of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. After his resignation in 2017, he joined the company To The Stars as its Director of Global Security and Special Programs. Elizondo left the company in late 2020. The company produced the History Channel docuseries Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation, in which he stars.
Forty-four years ago, a strange event occurred in the history of the TV broadcast. A live TV broadcasting was taken over by the so-called alien intelligence for full six minutes and conveyed a bizarre message for all humanity. This mysterious event remained unsolved till today.
On November 26, 1977, at around 5 p.m., a regular news programing of the Independent Broadcasting Authority on Southern Television network, Southern England was interrupted by a computer-generated voice. When Southern TV’s news anchor Andrew Gardner was delivering the top news headlines, his voice got distorted, TV picture wobbled and people heard a strange, metallic buzzing and then a deep and somber, echoing voice that seemed to had been electronically disguised bellowed out from a person claiming to be an alien from another world.

The voice called himself Vrillion and represented a certain body known as “The Ashtar Galactic Command.” It delivered an enigmatic message, asking humans to give up warlike ways and embrace peace before it was too late.
The entire message reads:
“This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom as we have done to your brothers and sisters all over this, your planet Earth. We come to warn you of the destiny of your race and your world so that you may communicate to your fellow beings the course you must take to avoid the disaster which threatens your world, and the beings on our worlds around you.
This is in order that you may share in the great awakening, as the planet passes into the New Age of Aquarius. The New Age can be a time of great peace and evolution for your race, but only if your rulers are made aware of the evil forces that can overshadow their judgments.
Be still now and listen, for your chance may not come again. All your weapons of evil must be removed. The time for conflict is now past and the race of which you are a part may proceed to the higher stages of its evolution if you show yourselves worthy to do this. You have but a short time to learn to live together in peace and goodwill. Small groups all over the planet are learning this, and exist to pass on the light of the dawning New Age to you all.
You are free to accept or reject their teachings, but only those who learn to live in peace will pass to the higher realms of spiritual evolution. Hear now the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. Be aware also that there are many false prophets and guides operating in your world. They will suck your energy from you – the energy you call money and will put it to evil ends and give you worthless dross in return.
Your inner divine self will protect you from this. You must learn to be sensitive to the voice within that can tell you what is truth, and what is confusion, chaos and untruth. Learn to listen to the voice of truth which is within you and you will lead yourselves onto the path of evolution. This is our message to our dear friends. We have watched you growing for many years as you too have watched our lights in your skies.
You know now that we are here, and that there are more beings on and around your Earth than your scientists admit. We are deeply concerned about you and your path towards the light and will do all we can to help you. Have no fear, seek only to know yourselves, and live in harmony with the ways of your planet Earth.
We of the Ashtar Galactic Command thank you for your attention. We are now leaving the plane of your existence. May you be blessed by the supreme love and truth of the cosmos.”
During the whole transmission, the video feed was touched with just a slight distortion. The message ended during the programming of the Looney Tunes cartoon. Andrew Gardner remained silent on the incident and acted as if nothing happened. However, the strange transmission was heard by thousands of people in the south of England who must have thought it was a joke.
The TV station apologized to its viewers for the inconvenience and publicly dismissed the whole matter as a hoax. Soon, all British media outlets published the news about this incident, and then it grabbed the attention of international media. The ITV company, whose broadcast was interrupted by this message, long and carefully searched for the culprit of the incident, a possible prankster or ingenious technician who managed to hack their equipment. Unfortunately, they failed to trace the culprit. They only managed to find out that the signal was sent to the Hannington transmitter antenna located on Connington Hill and broadcasting to Berkshire and North Hampshire. And the signal source was quite small, located somewhere near the antenna.
This incident has been studied many times by various researchers of anomalous phenomena and ufologists. Particularly famous is the work of John Reppion, a collector of British bizarre tales and folklore.
Reppion claimed that the person behind the mysterious message had thoroughly prepared for his case and specially chose the time of the late afternoon news for the broadcast so that the maximum number of people could hear it. Reppion went on to examine several subsequent cases in which pranksters tried to interfere with American TV broadcasts, and found that they were fundamentally different from the “message of Ashtar.”
All American pranksters sent deliberately humorous messages on TV, while Vrillon’s voice was broadcast in all seriousness and never said anything that would indicate something funny. And even the way Vrillon’s voice sounded betrayed something completely different. It was not exactly a human voice, but something strange, electronic, extraterrestrial. Some supposedly real recordings of this broadcast can be found on the net, but these may only be late reconstruction attempts.
Many ufologists nowadays believe that Ashtar’s message was a real attempt by aliens to establish contact with earthlings and try to convince them not to start World War III. It is believed that in the late 1970s, the Cold War between the West and the USSR became especially tense, and many people believed that a nuclear war was about to begin.

Watch Over 400 Thought Provoking Interviews https://www.gaia.com/open_your_mind hosted by Regina Meredith, featuring cutting-edge visionaries and tireless researchers who provide crucial information to awaken viewers to new perspectives that spark awareness, understanding and ultimately, transformation - Rumor has long held that deep within the vaults of the Vatican library lie the answers we seek concerning extraterrestrial visitation upon our world.
Through legal maneuvering, one man has chanced an encounter with these enigmatic documents, Daniel Sheehan. In this interview with Regina Meredith, he discusses the many trials and tribulations he endured as navigated the complex legal system which seems bent upon keeping this important information forever concealed. Daniel Sheehan is a Harvard College, Harvard Law School and Harvard Divinity School-trained Constitutional Litigation and Appellate Attorney.
Dan's work as a Federal Civil Rights Attorney, Author, Public Speaker and College and Law School Educator has helped expose the structural sources of injustice in our country and around the world. In 1977, he served as a "Special Counsel" to the United States Library of Congress' investigation into the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence that had been expressly requested by then President Jimmy Carter. In 2001, Dan was invited to serve as General Counsel to The Disclosure Project.
Crewed Mars missions have been the talk of the town for the past few years. But first, lessons learned from the upcoming Artemis program will be imperative to prepare for future trips to Mars. And one of them will involve figuring out the power systems, including ones that haven't been tested on the moon's surface, such as nuclear energy, that would support future settlements.
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, published a paper in the journal Frontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences that argues a human expedition to Mars can be fueled by photovoltaics-based power systems, instead of nuclear energy.
Comparing various options
The concept isn't entirely new. In fact, the primary source of power for some NASA Mars rovers comes from a multi-panel solar array. These rover solar arrays generate about 140 watts of power for up to four hours per sol, a Martian day.
However, in the current study, researchers weighed the options - they compared different ways to generate power. The calculations observed the amount of equipment mass needed to be transported from Earth to the Martian surface for a six-person mission. Specifically, they quantified the requirements of a nuclear-powered system against different photovoltaic and even photoelectrochemical devices.
Photovoltaics-based power systems practical to sustain a crewed mission
The productivity of solar-powered solutions depends on solar intensity, surface temperature, and other factors that would determine where a non-nuclear outpost would be optimally located. This took into account several factors, such as the absorption and scattering of light in the atmosphere, which would affect the amount of solar radiation at the planet’s surface.
A photovoltaic array that uses compressed hydrogen for energy storage eventually emerged as the winner. The “carry-along mass” of such a system is about 8.3 tons versus about 9.5 tons for nuclear power at the equator. Usage of the solar-based system becomes less sustainable closer to the equator at more than 22 tons, but it outperforms fission energy across about 50 percent of the Martian surface.
“I think it’s nice that the result was split pretty close down the middle,” co-lead author Aaron Berliner, a bioengineering graduate student in the Arkin Laboratory at UC Berkeley, said. “Nearer the equator, solar wins out; nearer the poles, nuclear wins.”
Hydrogen can also be combined with nitrogen to produce ammonia for fertilizers. Though technologies like water electrolysis to produce hydrogen and hydrogen fuel are less common on Earth, they can be a game-changer for the human occupation of Mars.
“Compressed hydrogen energy storage falls into this category as well,” co-lead author Anthony Abel, a chemical and biomolecular engineering Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley, said. “For grid-scale energy storage, it’s not used commonly, although that is projected to change in the next decade.”
“Now that we have an idea of how much power is available, we can start connecting that availability to the biotechnologies in CUBES,” Berliner said. “The hope is ultimately to build out a full model of the system, with all of the components included, which we envision as helping to plan a mission to Mars, evaluate tradeoffs, identify risks, and come up with mitigation strategies either beforehand or during the mission.”
The mayor of the Turkish city wherein Gobekli Tepe is located recently offered a fantastic theory for the ancient archaeological site's origins: aliens. The eyebrow-raising assessmentreportedly occurred earlier this week as Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül, who presides over the community of Urfa, was speaking to Turkish media outlet Milliyet. In discussing the 12,000-year-old complex, the mayor mused that "every person who sees Gobekli Tepe, scientist or normal person, states that there is a mystery and secrets here. But they can't find it." Beyazgül then boldly declared that "I will tell you about these mysteries and secrets," which he apparently believes center around an extraterrestrial hypothesis.
To that end, the mayor surprisingly argued that "the statues in Gobekli Tepe depict something other than humans. They seem to be coming from somewhere else. They remind me of aliens." Lest one think that Beyazgül was merely waxing poetic, he pointed out a number of elements about the site which informed that thinking. Specifically, the mayor noted that the aforementioned sculptures show people who are wearing attire that appears to be out of place for the era in which the complex was built. "People of the time wore pelts, but here, we see V-shaped motives," he noted, wondering "if the first humans wore pelts, who are these people?"
Additionally, Beyazgül pointed out the peculiar depiction of handbags in some of the artwork at Gobekli Tepe and observed that "those purses are akin to the modern purses of today. If we think that those purses were made by the men of the time, we would be wrong. The probability of another living creature making that purse is more likely." Beyond the artwork at the site, the mayor also expressed skepticism that the massive stones used to construct the complex could have been moved by humans and, instead, asked "did beings from outer space come and do this?"
While the theory that extraterrestrials may have had a hand in Gobekli Tepe is not a particularly new idea to ancient alien enthusiasts, the fact that Beyazgül seemingly endorsed the concept is rather remarkable. That said, unless some Earth-shattering artifact is unearthed at the site someday, the possibility that extraterrestrials had a hand in building the complex is likely to remain a matter of conjecture, despite the mayor's tantalizing assertions. With that in mind, what's your take on the Beyazgül's musings? Do you think aliens built Gobekli Tepe or was it the work of human hands?
