MUFON's mission is the analytical and scientific investigation of the UFO- Phenomenon for the benefit of humanity... Je kan ook hun site bekijken onder www.mufon.com. Ze geven een maandelijks tijdschrift uit, namelijk The MUFON UFO-Journal. Since 02/01/2020 is Pieter ex-president (=voorzitter) of BUFON, but also ex-National Director MUFON / Flanders and the Netherlands. We work together with the French MUFON Reseau MUFON/EUROP.

Alien head found on Mars In NASA Photo is 60% similar to humans, UFO Sighting News.

Date of discovery: Sept 29, 2023

    Location of discovery: Planet Mars
    Source photo:
This face on Mars is small, just a few inches across, however the importance of its discovery is monumental. Faces explain what the alien species looked like. Faces explain to us that they were intelligent enough to create lionesses in artistic form. In this face I see a smile, round cheeks, a nose thats different than humans in that it's three times wider and its eye area is larger. Its has hair or perhaps its skin ridges across its head and scalp area. It has two ears, one of which is visible and is 70% similar to our own. In all this face is about 60% similar to humans, leaving a huge 40% difference. A difference which could be attributed to it possibly being reptilian which would explain how they survived in Mars extreme heat.

Encounters: Netflix’s Dive into the Enigmatic World of UFOs

For ages, humans have gazed into the expansive night sky, wondering about those fleeting, mysterious lights, often dubbed Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs. These evanescent lights have sparked countless debates, tales, and scientific quests. Are they merely misunderstood natural phenomena, man-made aircraft, or something much more profound: a sign of life beyond our planet? Netflix’s latest docuseries, Encounters, offers viewers a deep dive into this intriguing realm.

    Journeying to Texas Skies

The inaugural episode, titled “Messengers,” transports us to Stephenville, Texas, in 2008. Residents of this quiet town were startled by anomalous lights that painted their night sky for several nights. Picture this: an immense V-shaped array of lights suddenly morphing into a radiant, color-shifting object. It’s a scene straight out of a sci-fi movie, but for the people of Stephenville, it was an eerie reality. Despite the Air Force attributing these sightings to earthly explanations, Stephenville’s denizens, featured in heartfelt interviews, recollect these bewildering events, painting a tapestry of human experiences amidst the unexplained.

    A Welsh Coastal Enigma

The docuseries’ narrative then journeys across the Atlantic to Broad Haven, a picturesque coastal town in Wales (“The Broad Haven Triangle“). Here, in 1977, the skies became a theatre of wonder, with over 450 townspeople reporting sightings of bizarre aerial objects, ranging from cigar to disk-shaped entities. The governmental investigations may have chalked it up to natural causes, but the hearts and minds of Broad Haven’s residents tell a story steeped in both awe and intrigue. The episode offers more than just recounts; it delves into the fabric of the town itself, capturing the profound socio-cultural ripples these sightings left in their wake.

    A Nuclear Nightmare’s Silver Lining?

Light Over Fukushima” brings to fore the harrowing aftermath of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear catastrophe. Amidst the bleak backdrop of this disaster, many locals reported witnessing enigmatic spheres of light hovering over the reactor ruins. Was this nature’s own light show, a direct consequence of the nuclear event, or were they unearthly visitors drawn to our moment of crisis? Through personal narratives and expert opinions, the episode wrestles with these tough questions.

    Innocence Meets the Inexplicable

The final leg of this extraterrestrial odyssey takes us to Zimbabwe, where young students of the Ariel School experienced the unimaginable in 1994. Imagine being in a playground and witnessing an alien craft touch down, only to unveil its otherworldly inhabitants. This episode, “Believers,” delves deep into one of history’s most intensely scrutinized UFO events. Through interviews with these now-grown students and experts, the episode offers a visceral glimpse into this hair-raising encounter.

    Reflecting on the Cosmic Unknown

Encounters is not just a chronicle of unexplained aerial phenomena. It’s a human story – of wonder, fear, skepticism, and hope. Netflix has crafted a series that doesn’t just parade evidence but humanizes each account, allowing the viewer to step into the shoes of those who’ve experienced the enigma first-hand.

Applauded for its meticulous production and balanced approach, Encounters serves as a testament to our undying curiosity and desire to understand our place in the cosmos. Whether a believer, skeptic, or the curious kind, this docuseries promises a journey into the mysteries of the universe that will leave you pondering long after the credits roll.

Researchers Create Autonomous Battery-Free Wireless Microrobot: MilliMobile

MilliMobile is a first of its kind battery-free autonomous robot capable of operating on harvested solar and radio frequency power. The MilliMobile prototype has a 1 x1 cm chassis and weighs less than 1.1 g. It can carry payloads 3 times its own weight, and only experiences a 25% reduction in speed when carrying a 1 g payload.

MilliMobile is able to move across a variety of surfaces, including concrete and packed soil. Image credit: Mark Stone / University of Washington.

Small mobile robots carrying sensors could perform tasks like catching gas leaks or tracking warehouse inventory.

But moving robots demands a lot of energy, and batteries, the typical power source, limit lifetime and raise environmental concerns.

Researchers have explored various alternatives: affixing sensors to insects, keeping charging mats nearby, or powering the robots with lasers.

Each has drawbacks. Insects roam. Chargers limit range. Lasers can burn people’s eyes.

“We challenge the conventional assumption that motion and actuation are beyond the capabilities of battery-free devices and demonstrate completely untethered autonomous operation in realistic indoor and outdoor lighting as well as radio frequency delivery scenarios,” said University of Washington doctoral student Kyle Johnson and colleagues, who developed MilliMobile, a tiny, self-driving robot powered only by surrounding light or radio waves.

Equipped with a solar panel-like energy harvester and four wheels, their robot is about the size of a penny, weighs as much as a raisin and can move about the length of a bus (10 m, or 30 feet) in an hour even on a cloudy day.

MilliMobile can drive on surfaces such as concrete or packed soil and carry three times its own weight in equipment like a camera or sensors.

It uses a light sensor to move automatically toward light sources so it can run indefinitely on harvested power.

“We took inspiration from ‘intermittent computing,’ which breaks complex programs into small steps, so a device with very limited power can work incrementally, as energy is available,” Johnson said.

“With MilliMobile, we applied this concept to motion. We reduced the robot’s size and weight so it takes only a small amount of energy to move.”

And, similar to an animal taking steps, our robot moves in discrete increments, using small pulses of energy to turn its wheels.”

The researchers tested MilliMobile both indoors and outdoors, in environments such as parks, an indoor hydroponic farm and an office.

Even in very low light situations — for instance, powered only by the lights under a kitchen counter — the robots are still able to inch along, though much slower.

Running continuously, even at that pace, opens new abilities for a swarm of robots deployed in areas where other sensors have trouble generating nuanced data.

These robots are also able to steer themselves, navigating with onboard sensors and tiny computing chips.

To demonstrate this, the team programmed the robots to use their onboard light sensors to move towards a light source.

“Internet of Things sensors are usually fixed in specific locations,” said University of Washington doctoral student Zachary Englhardt.

“Our work crosses domains to create robotic sensors that can sample data at multiple points throughout a space to create a more detailed view of its environment, whether that’s a smart farm where the robots are tracking humidity and soil moisture, or a factory where they’re seeking out electromagnetic noise to find equipment malfunctions.”

    • The scientists will present their work at the ACM MobiCom 2023 Conference in Madrid, Spain.

    Jimmy Carter UFO Briefing

This US President Cried After He Found Disturbing Alien Information In UFO Briefing

In 1973, before the presidential elections, yet to become President, Jimmy Carter filed a report with the International UFO Bureau claiming he had seen a UFO in October 1969. Along with other witnesses, Carter saw a bright UFO that changed colors and moved towards and away from the Earth before disappearing. He was quite vocal about his beliefs on UFOs and promised to public all available information about UFOs if he became president.

“He described waiting outside for a Lion’s Club Meeting in Leary, Georgia, to begin, at about 7:30 p.m., when he spotted what he called ‘the darndest thing I’ve ever seen’ in the sky.” Along with 10 to 12 other witnesses, Carter observed a bright object in the sky, which was about the size of the moon. (Source)

“We all saw it. And then the light, it got closer and closer to us. And then it stopped, I don’t know how far away, but it stopped beyond the pine trees. And all of a sudden it changed color to blue, and then it changed to red, then back to white,” Carter told GQ in 2005. The object reportedly hovered about 30 degrees above the horizon, moved towards and away from the Earth, and eventually disappeared into the distance. Carter’s experience led him to make a vow to never again ridicule individuals who claimed to have seen a UFO.

“One thing’s for sure, I’ll never make fun of people who say they’ve seen unidentified objects in the sky. If I become President, I’ll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and the scientists,” Carter said.

As for the object that Carter saw, it has since been classified as “a high altitude barium release cloud launched from Eglen AFB,” which sounds legit. However, after winning the presidency, Carter backed away from this promise, citing concerns about national security and defense implications. His experience with a UFO is just one of many reported sightings that have fueled conspiracy about extraterrestrial life and government cover-ups.

President Carter’s Disturbing Briefing on UFOs and Religion

Former NASA researcher Ed Harris claimed that serious researchers on the subject believe the story of former President Jimmy Carter crying after being briefed about classified UFO information to be true. According to the story corroborated by multiple witnesses, U.S. presidents are given only a brief overview of the subject by the CIA, and presidential curiosity is not considered a sufficient need to know.

After being repeatedly stonewalled, Carter was given “the talk,” which reportedly left him deeply sobbing and visibly disturbed for weeks. He was told that major religions, including Christianity, were created by extraterrestrials to prevent humans from destroying themselves while they ran experiments on us, and that they made us. Carter, a deeply religious man who had witnessed a UFO with six other people, realized that releasing such information could cause tremendous economic and social upheaval.

Below you can read Ed Harris’ statement on the subject that he wrote on Quora:

"Yes, the incident of Jimmy Carter crying after being briefed about classified information regarding UFO’s is largely believed to be true by the serious researchers on the subject. As a forewarning, the following information is very unsettling and will explain why Carter never “kept his promise” of revealing classified UFO information to the public.

According to the story that was corroborated by more than one witness, U.S. presidents are only given a cursory overview of the subject. Apparently, the CIA runs the program, only provide information to the President on a need to know basis, and do not consider presidential curiosity as sufficient need to know. This was implemented after Kennedy, and all presidents after him have been given only summary briefings (some presidents for unknown reasons were given more than others).

Okay on to your question. President Carter is a deeply religious man who had also witnessed a UFO with 6 other people. Everyone thought that he would be the one to finally release UFO info to the public but as the story goes, he was repeatedly stonewalled. Eventually, the CIA had “the talk” with him, and afterward it was reported that he sunk his head in his hands and not only began to deeply sob, but was visibly disturbed for some weeks afterward.

What was he told and shown?

He was told that the major religions including Christianity were programs created by extraterrestrials to prevent us from destroying ourselves while they ran their experiments on us – and that they made us. At this moment it became clear to Carter that such information could cause tremendous economic and social upheaval. I should add that I am not only a Christian but a clergyman, so I am in no way attempting to promote atheism here. In fact, how God fits into this might be an interesting separate post. Nevertheless, these are the facts as I know them to be.

Author and world’s leading UFO researcher Richard Dolan also writes about this incident in his book “UFOs and the National Security State: The Cover-Up Exposed.” According to his book, there are claims that President Carter was given a UFO briefing at the White House on June 14, 1977, which he was then bound to secrecy about.

The briefing was supposedly given by a lone MJ-12 briefing officer and several independent sources. The leaked “Executive Briefing: Project Aquarius” document gives the standard account of multiple retrievals of alien technology. While there is no hard evidence to support the claims of the briefing, a presidential aide, who was “very, very close to Carter,” witnessed President sobbing after a UFO-related briefing in the Oval Office.

Carter Administration & Project Blue Book

Daniel Sheehan, a Harvard-educated Constitutional Trial Lawyer and Appellate Attorney has worked on many high-profile cases in his career. In 1977, he was approached by his friend Marcia Smith, who informed him that President Carter had demanded that the CIA provided classified information about unidentified flying objects to him, but George H. Bush, who was the CIA director at the time, refused to give this information to the president.

Sheehan tried to obtain information on the UFO phenomena and extraterrestrials from the Vatican Library but was unsuccessful. However, with Carter’s help, he managed to get access to the classified portions of the Air Force’s Project Blue Book for a few hours in May 1977, where he claimed to have discovered classified documents and photographs of a crashed UFO being investigated by Air Force personnel.

“There were these photographs of unmistakable — of a UFO sitting on the ground. It had crashed,” Sheehan said. “Apparently, it had hit into this field and had dug up, kind of plowed this kind of trough through this field,” he paused for a second.

“It was wedged into the side of this bank,” he said after taking a deep breath. “There was snow all around the picture. The vehicle was wedged into the side of this mud-like embankment — kind of up at an angle. There was Air Force personnel. As I cranked the little handle and looked at additional photos, these Air Force people were taking pictures.” (Click here to read the full article)

When Mr. Sheehan left the room, the guard asked to see his yellow legal pad and flipped through the pages, missing the alien hieroglyphs Sheehan had copied on the back of the pad. Sheehan offered to share this information with the religious establishment; they told him they were not interested.

Bob Lazar Humans as 'Containers of Souls'

Journalist Reveals Bob Lazar’s Astonishing Claim: Extraterrestrials See Humans as ‘Containers of Souls’

The origin of humanity is perhaps the most significant mystery that the world needs to unravel. In mainstream science, the theory of evolution is proposed to provide an explanation for human biological history. However, not many people subscribe to this theory, and there may be much more to the story that we are not yet aware of.

In episode number 2028 of the Joe Rogan podcast, the two current popular figures in UFOlogy, Jeremy Corbell & George Knapp discussed the possibility that humans were genetically engineered by a non-human intelligence for nefarious purposes, and some individuals within the government are aware of this. Knapp also mentions that he knows someone high-ranking who told him that human conflict, specifically war, is sometimes intentionally designed by a malevolent non-human intelligence through manipulation.

During the podcast, George Knapp discussed Bob Lazar and mentioned that Lazar was told while working on “the program” that humans were viewed by extraterrestrials as “containers of souls.” This may sound bizarre and fictional to many people; however, Lazar can be seen saying the exact same thing in his 1989 interviews. (Source)

“These beings conveyed information about the capability of affecting the human brain to anesthetize the human body. This is done without any physical contact from a remote source. For this anesthesia to be accomplished, the brain has to be in a relaxed state, similar to that required for hypnosis. If the brain is subject to any external stimulation, like stimulant drugs or loud music, this manipulation of the nervous system is ineffective.

These beings said that man was the product of externally corrected evolution. They said that man, as a species, had been genetically altered 65 times. They referred to humans as containers. Yet, I don’t know what we’re containers of. As I’m sure you now know, it was impossible for me to corroborate the information in the second section. And obviously, if this information is true, the ramifications are far-reaching and you don’t have to be a nuclear physicist to figure that out.”

In the podcast, Corbell discusses John Lear, who told him that “Aliens see us like a wine and our bodies are containers and our souls are beings matured as like a commodity.” Moreover, according to another bizarre theory that has been covered by researchers like Linda M. Howe, David Icke, etc., these non-human intelligence or extraterrestrials feed on human souls.

“It’s my conclusion over many years that reincarnation is a trap. It’s not that it doesn’t exist although I don’t think it’s quite the same as it’s explained it’s a bit more subtle maybe but I do think it’s a trap, said David Icke.” Whereas Linda said, “The recycling of souls reincarnation is the Machinery of this universe.” (Watch this episode of the Why Files for more context)

Robert Allan Monroe (1915-1995) was a radio broadcasting executive from Indiana known for his research into altered consciousness and founding The Monroe Institute. His 1971 book, “Journeys Out of the Body,” popularized the term “out-of-body experience.”

In 1958, Monroe suffered a series of bizarre events, prompting him to seek medical advice, but doctors found him to be healthy. He decided to dedicate his life to studying altered states of consciousness, eventually developing Hemispheric Synchronization (Hemi-Sync), a technology using binaural beats to harmonize brain hemispheres.

The US government took an interest in Monroe’s work and invited him to join a classified project called the Gateway Process, aimed at using his techniques for remote viewing. According to declassified files, this program aimed to alter consciousness, allowing participants to access intuitive knowledge and other dimensions. (CIA file)

During these experiments, participants sat in darkness wearing headphones and reported encountering interdimensional entities. According to Robert, subjects would often encounter interdimensional entities. Most frequently, reptilian humanoids were witnessed. Viewers referred to the uncanny creatures as ‘the alligators’ due to their crocodilian features. Curiously, Monroe was already quite familiar with the unsettling breed. During countless expeditions, he observed identical saurian creatures. For over 35 years, he gathered insight about these startling beings.

Here is what he uncovered: For millennia, humanity has been controlled and enslaved by nefarious vertebrates known as Reptilians, who operate within the 4th dimension, invisible to most but those who can perceive beyond our limited spectrum of visible light. These parasitic entities thrive on our spiritual lifeforce, referred to as “loosh” by Monroe, and rely on negative and low vibrational energy for their survival. Viewing Earth as a vast farm, they harvest human emotions such as fear, hatred, anxiety, anger, and depression. With intelligence equal to or surpassing that of humans, this elusive lizard-like race considers itself superior and the rulers of mankind.

Robert Monroe pursued transcendental endeavors until he passed away in 1995. His beliefs never changed, and he frequently warned of the sinister spiritual vampires. Gateway’s revolutionary experiments continued throughout the 1980s.

There is a case of a British woman named Samantha McDonald who claimed that she had been repeatedly abducted by reptilians since her first contact in the 1990s, but on every abduction, her memory was wiped by her abductors. In 2014, she was invited to a British talk show named “This Morning,” where she revealed there were two alien species, the Greys and Reptilians, who worked together. (Source)

She said that when she woke up, there were needle marks, scratches, and bruises on her body. “I’ve asked them what they want with me and they said they have come to take me and my family. What they were after was my energy and soul essence. I don’t know why they keep coming back to me. I think it is to do with my energies as I’m into healing and meditation.”

Dr. Ellis Silver, an author of the book “Humans are not from Earth: A Scientific Evaluation of the Evidence,” has a strong belief that life on Earth was sparked by aliens thousands of years ago. He said, “Mankind is supposedly the most highly developed species on the planet, yet is surprisingly unsuited and ill-equipped for Earth’s environment: harmed by sunlight, a strong dislike for naturally occurring foods, ridiculously high rates of chronic disease, and more.” (Source)

Ellis strongly believes that Earth is some kind of galactic jail made by aliens to teach humans a behavior lesson. Similarly, in 2019, members of METI (Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence), a San Francisco-based research organization, convened in Paris and suggested that we could all be living in a Galactic Zoo run by aliens.

Florence Raulin Cerceau, who is the METI director as well as an astrobiologist explained: “This puzzle of why we haven’t detected extraterrestrial life has been discussed often,” adding, “But in this workshop’s unique focus, many of the talks tackled a controversial explanation first suggested in the 1970s, called the ‘zoo hypothesis.’” METI president Douglas Vakoch weighed in by saying, “Perhaps extraterrestrials are watching humans on Earth, much like we watch animals in a zoo.” (Source)

MIT researcher John Ball presented the zoo hypothesis in his 1973 paper. He wrote, “Extraterrestrial intelligent life may be almost ubiquitous,” adding, “The apparent failure of such life to interact with us may be understood in terms of the hypothesis that they have set us aside as part of a wilderness area or zoo.” He later wrote in another research paper: “ETI may be discreetly and inconspicuously watching us but not dabbling.”

Additionally, former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent, UFO advocate, and media personality Luis Elizondo explained his reasoning behind claiming that UFO mysteries have made him “somber.” His speculative ideas are straight out of middle 20th-century science fiction, particularly the so-called “zoo hypothesis” that appeared in a number of stories at that time, imagining that Earth was essentially a zoo run by space aliens.

“What if it turns out that there’s another species that is even higher on that ladder than we are? Do we need the social institutions that we have today, do we need government and religious organizations that we have today, if it turns out that there is something else or someone else that is technologically more advanced and, perhaps from an evolutionary perspective, more advanced? Have we been wasting our time all this time? Or are we doing exactly as we are supposed to be doing?

[What] if it turns out that mankind is in fact just another animal in the zoo? If we saw ourselves as the zookeeper before, maybe we’re just another exhibit inside the zoo? What would that mean to us?

So, when I say ‘somber’ or ‘sobering’, I mean there’s going to come a point in this conversation when we’re going to have to do a lot of reconciling with ourselves, whatever that means, from whatever philosophical background you have. This is going to impact every single one of us. And I think that’s important. Do we find ourselves in a situation where history may have to be rewritten? So that’s what I meant.”

    Location of discovery: Planet Mars
    Source photo:
I was searching through NASA Mars photos when I came across one that had two interesting artifacts. One is a crashed alien ship that has a wing or rudder in the front tip. You can also make out an oval on the top center which looks like it's a cockpit of the pilot. Also there was a second discovery, a face with a hat. The face looks like an older person that is sad or serous, the lips, nose, eyes, forehead and temples are also very visible and gave it away as a person that is similar in appliance to humans...at least in the face. It is wearing a had, like that of a leader, or religious leader.

Psychologist Carl Jung’s Fascination with UFOs

Some view Carl Jung as a UFO debunker, others as a UFO believer, but the truth is he was somewhere in the middle. Either way, it is certain that Jung was an avid UFO researcher and fascinated with the topic. He wrote a book about the psychological symbolism and the role the UFO mythos plays in the unconscious mind.  Moreover, on several occasions Jung complained that his studies would have been much easier if the UFO phenomenon was not real.

    Jung the Psychologist

Jung was born in Switzerland in 1875. His father was a pastor in the Swiss Reformed Protestant Church, and his mother was from a wealthy Swiss family. He was the Jungs’ fourth child, but was the only child who survived into his childhood. As such, he grew up as an only child. Later, he wrote that he remembered enjoying his solitude.

His first experience with neurosis was at the age of twelve when a fellow student shoved him, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground very hard. He remembered associating this experience with schoolwork, and whenever he had to go to school or do schoolwork he would faint. Overhearing his parents’ concern that this condition would cause him to be unable to support himself as an adult, Jung fought to overcome the problem and eventually returned to academics.

Although Jung had a profound interest in spirituality, his experiences triggered an interest in psychology and he decided to pursue a career in medicine. It wasn’t long before he realized that studies in psychology would allow him to combine his interests in medicine and spirituality, and in 1902, he completed his doctoral dissertation, which was titled “On the Psychology and Pathology of So-Called Occult Phenomena.” He graduated with a medical degree from the University of Basel.

After graduating, Jung went to work with psychiatric patients at the University of Zurich asylum. He wrote a paper on word association that he sent to Sigmund Freud. Freud was impressed with Jung’s work, and they quickly became very close. Freud considered Jung his successor. However, after several years, Jung began to develop his own ideas beyond the work of Freud, and due to their disagreements, the relationship turned adversarial.

Freud’s work with the ego and unconscious served as a foundation for Jung’s work. They both felt that disconnects between the conscious and unconscious minds caused neurosis in people. They also both relied on dream interpretation to explore a person’s unconscious mind as a method for subsequently resolving neurosis. In fact, one story holds that Jung and Freud interpreted each other’s dreams and both completely disagreed with the other’s analysis, thus hastening the dissolution of their friendship.

A major area of disagreement between the two was that Jung did not believe a person’s unconscious was driven solely by sexual desires, as Freud did. Jung believed other strong emotions such as fear and aspiration were just as influential. He also conceived of a deeper level of the unconscious called the collective unconscious, which he believed is a part of our unconscious mind that holds ideas and concepts shared by all humankind. He believed these base ideas are then shaped by our cultural perceptions and personal experience. For example, we all have ideas around the notions of mothers, fathers, wise elders, etc. Jung called these shared notions archetypes. Jung felt that these archetypes not only would manifest in dreams, but could be seen in people’s creative works and behavior, including art, religion, and mythology.

Jung’s contributions to psychology are numerous. Even today his ideas of extraversion and introversion are a mainstay in personality psychology. He also came up with the idea of psychological complexes and synchronicities. All of these ideas and terms are commonly used in everyday conversation today, and all were made popular by Jung.

    Jung and Alchemy

It is the idea of the archetype that brought Jung to have a particular interest in UFOs. When Jung interpreted psychological meaning he would search for archetypal figures. As mentioned earlier, such figures could be a mother or father.  But, in a mythological story, the archetype may be the hero, a dragon, or even a planetary entity such as the sun. However, Jung also had an interested in alchemy.

Alchemy is typically connected to legends of ancient mystics attempting to unravel the secret of turning lead into gold. The work of alchemists is credited with the development of modern chemistry. However, another side of alchemy is spiritual in nature, relating to personal transformation. Jung had a passion for alchemy in this sense, and felt that the metal lead was a metaphor for an impure soul, whereas gold was a metaphor for a perfected soul. Jung’s interest in alchemy was thus as a method of purifying the soul.

Jung wrote a couple of books focused on interpreting alchemical symbolism and processes as different stages of personal growth that mirrored his ideas. He felt these symbols were archetypes that were unconsciously manifesting in the work of alchemists. Although he acknowledged the physical goals of alchemy (an attempt to transmute lead into gold), Jung did not give it much attention in his writing and focused on the non-physical aspects that related to his psychological theories. This is very similar to the way he approached the topic of UFOs.

    Jung and UFOs

In 1951, Jung wrote to a friend in the United States: “I am puzzled to death about the phenomena, because I haven’t been able yet to make out with sufficient certainty whether the whole thing is a rumour with concomitant singular and mass hallucination, or a downright fact.”

Although Jung showed an interest in the mystery of the physical reality of the UFO phenomenon, professionally he stated, “As a psychologist, I am not qualified to contribute anything useful to the question of the physical reality of Ufos.” However, Jung could contribute by analyzing the unmistakable psychological side to the UFO phenomenon. In 1958, several of Jung’s papers regarding the psychology of UFOs were published in a book. It was originally published in German, but in 1959 it was translated to English under the title, Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Skies.

In the book, Jung argued that although there may be a physical reality to UFOs, there is certainly a portion of the phenomenon that is fantasy. He examined the difficulty many have in accepting fantastical stories of UFOs, even when they come from pilots, and points out, “What is worse, most of the stories come from America, the land of superlatives and of science fiction.”

For the sake of argument, and to examine the psychological aspects of the phenomenon, Jung presumed that UFOs are fantasy. This is an important aspect that many critics overlook when they characterize Jung as dismissive of the phenomenon altogether. UFO researchers also tend not to appreciate the portions of Jung’s book in which he examined the UFO phenomenon in regards to archetypal imagery and alchemic symbolism. Jung himself assures his readers that although his work may appear to be “unbridled fantasy” to those unfamiliar with psychology, it is actually based on “thorough research into the history of symbols.”

In his book, Jung observed that most UFO sightings describe the objects as disc shaped, which is a symbol that is often seen in alchemy and existed in the mythology of other cultures. For example, the Hindu and Buddhist symbol of the mandala is a circular disc-shaped symbol. Jung believed that the mandala is a protective sphere, which is elicited in the unconscious in times of emotional tension. Jung noted that, around the time of many of the UFO sightings, the world was under a collective stress due to “Russian policies and their still unpredictable consequences.” In short, he felt that perhaps UFOs were appearing in visions at the time because of the world’s Cold War jitters, and that the UFOs were a manifestation of a need for protection and salvation.

Jung’s book also provided detail of the analysis of particular sightings and art. One of the significant contributions to ufology made by the book is a focus on two historical broadsheets, a type of ancient newspaper, that recorded mysterious apparitions that many have speculated to be UFO related. Although Jung asserted that these reports were in the UFO literature prior to the publication of his book, Jung clearly made them popular as potential ancient UFO sightings.

The first is referred to as the Basel Broadsheet, and it dates back to 1566. It was written by Samuel Coccius and is a report of “many large black globes” that were seen flying in front of the sun “with great speed.” The Basel Broadsheet notes, “Some of them became red and fiery and afterwards faded and went out.” Jung noted the similarity of this phenomenon to modern UFO accounts.

The second report is called the Nuremberg Broadsheet and dates back to 1561. This report chronicles a “very frightful spectacle” that was witnessed by several people. Again, “globes” were seen near the sun, “some three in a row, now and then four in a square, also some standing alone.” There were also “two great tubes.” Jung noted that in UFO literature large tubes are considered “motherships,” and have been reported to have smaller discs that appear to fly out of them.

    The Physical Reality of UFOs

In his book, Jung also examined the possibility of the physical reality of UFOs. He noted that, “unfortunately,” UFOs cannot be dismissed as purely psychological in nature. He pointed to numerous sightings, some of which have been caught in photographs and on radar. Jung even poked fun at astronomer Donald Menzel, a UFO debunker, saying that he “has not succeeded, despite all his efforts, in offering a scientific explanation of even one authentic UFO report.”

Jung was well-versed on UFO research. He wrote, “since 1947 I have collected all of the books I could get a hold of on the subject.” He was also a member of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP), an early civilian UFO organization that included many credible members. In fact, in his book, Jung often referred to the work of Major Donald Keyhoe, a cofounder and director of NICAP.

Prior to releasing his book, Jung was considered by UFO researchers to be a proponent of the physical reality of UFOs. In 1955, he wrote an article on UFOs for a British journal called the Flying Saucer Review. In the article, Jung stated that he had never seen a UFO himself, but that “I can only say for certain: these things are not a mere rumour: something has been seen.”

He went on to argue that the U.S. Air Force “despite its contradictory statements,” considers the phenomenon to be real and they conduct official investigations. He warned that, by concealing information on the topic, the military is making it more likely that people will panic since the public is denied “an adequate picture of what is happening.”

Jung also stated that “the ‘disks’ (that is, the objects themselves) do not behave in accordance with physical laws, but as though without weight, and they show signs of intelligent guidance, by quasi human pilots, for their accelerations are such that no normal human could survive.”

Not much was made of Jung’s 1955 article until it was reprinted in 1958 by the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO) in the organization’s bulletin in July 1958. APRO posted the story as part of an announcement that Jung had agreed to become an official consultant for the organization. The New York Herald Tribune quickly picked up on the report and printed a story with the headline, “Dr. Jung Says ‘Flying Disks’ Suggest Quasi-Human Pilots.”

APRO Bulletin from July, 1958 with reprint of Jung’s article on UFOs.

    Credit: APRO

Jung was not happy with the implication that he believed UFOs represented a physical phenomenon and later wrote a letter to United Press International news agency clarifying his position. He wrote: “I expressly state that I cannot commit myself on the question to the physical reality or unreality of the UFOs since I do not possess sufficient evidence either for or against.” He then stated, “Something is seen, but it isn’t known what.” Jung later repeated this statement in his 1958 book and in several letters.

Although Jung was clearly embarrassed by the public perception that he conclusively believed flying saucers were physical in nature, he later reiterated his prior statements and earlier criticisms of the U.S. Air Force’s handling of the matter in very strong words. He wrote:

In spite of the fact that I hold my judgment concerning UFOs—temporarily let’s hope—in abeyance, I thought it worthwhile to throw a light upon the rich fantasy material which has accumulated round the peculiar observations in the skies. Any new experience has two aspects: (I) the pure fact and (2) the way one conceives of it. It is the latter I am concerned with. If it is true that the [American Air Force] or the Government withholds telltale facts, then one can only say that this is the most unpsychological and stupid policy one could invent. Nothing helps rumours and panics more than ignorance.

It is no wonder that many have been confused as to Jung’s official stance on UFOs. He seems to have believed the phenomenon and sightings to be real, but is uncertain whether UFOs are a physical reality or are limited to a psychological phenomenon. He stated that although “by all human standards it hardly seems possible to doubt this any longer,” in the decade or more he had been studying the topic, neither he nor anyone else seems to have learned much from the study of the physical aspect of UFOs. Jung said that this is precisely why he found it much more fruitful to study the psychological aspects of UFOs, an area in which he felt he had gained an abundance of knowledge.

Jung may be right. Concrete physical proof of UFOs continues to elude us to this day. Yet, Jung is another example of a luminary who garners a great amount of respect in his field of study, who also had the vision to seriously consider the UFO phenomenon. His UFO interest is a story that should not be forgotten, and his insights into the phenomenon may help guide us today, just as his insights into the human mind continue to be a part of the bedrock of modern psychological understanding.

    Exploring the Billy Meier Case

Extraterrestrials from another dimension began visiting a young boy in 1942. These visitors imparted wisdom and guidance to the boy to prepare him to become a great prophet. When he became a man, the extraterrestrials permitted him to snap photographs and record video of their spaceships. And they even whisked him away on time-traveling adventures. At least that is how Billy Meier tells the story of his life.

The case of Eduard Albert “Billy” Meier is one of the most well-known and controversial cases in ufology. Meier claims to have personally interacted with multiple extraterrestrials during his life, taken more than a thousand of the clearest UFO photos, and written word-for-word transcripts of his conversations with these extraterrestrials. He even established a church of sorts, called Freie Interessengemeinschaft für Grenz- und Geisteswissenschaften und Ufologiestudien (translation: Free Community of Interests for the Fringe and Spiritual Sciences and Ufological Studies), or FIGU, to spread the teachings of the extraterrestrials. As to where Meier got the nickname “Billy,” according to the FIGU website, the name was given to him by an American woman named Judy Reed: “Eduard Meier, wearing a black hat and a gun belt, reminded her of ‘Billy the Kid,’ the ‘legendary gunman of the Wild West.’”

    A Brief Biography

Billy Meier was born in the small village of Bülach, Switzerland, on February 3, 1937. Meier was the second of seven children born to Julius Meier, a shoemaker, and his wife, Bertha. In the book, Spaceships of the Pleiades, author Kal K. Korff explains that, in Meier’s younger years, he “spent his time working various manual labor jobs, dodging truant officers, and having occasional brushes with the law.” Korff alleges that Meier repeatedly found himself in correctional facilities and repeatedly escaped from these facilities. After escaping from the Aarburg correctional facility in Rheinau, Switzerland, Meier reportedly fled to France, where he joined the French Foreign Legion. Only a few months later, Meier deserted the Legion, but then turned himself over to authorities in Switzerland.

After the “transgressions of his youth,” as Korff puts it, Meier traveled extensively through Europe, Africa, and Asia. He performed a variety of jobs to support himself along his travels, including “chicken farmer, grape picker, nail pounder, snake catcher, truck driver, puppeteer, waiter, German tutor, and ship painter,” according to Korff. Along his multi-continent journey, Meier reportedly joined most of the religions of Europe, Africa, and Asia in search of a “belief system acceptable to him,” according to UFO researcher Lieutenant Colonel Wendelle Stevens.

During his travels, Meier lost one of his arms in a gruesome bus accident. On August 3, 1965, Meier was riding in a bus in Iskenderun, Turkey, when the drunk driver of another bus crashed into Meier’s bus. The impact ejected Meier from the bus and crushed his left arm so severely that it had to be amputated.

    Billy Meier

Meier, undeterred, continued his travels and relocated to Greece, where he met Kalliope Zafiriou, whom he married in March 1966. The couple moved to Pakistan, where their first child, Gilgamesha, was born. Then in 1970, Meier returned to Switzerland with his family, where, they later welcomed their second child, Atlantis-Socrates, into the world. Their youngest child, Methusalem, was born in 1973. The family rented a farm house in the town of Hinwil in northeastern Switzerland. And while Meier was a skilled farmer, the loss of his arm limited what he could accomplish. He received a small monthly welfare payment from the Swiss government because of his handicap, but to supplement the family’s income, Meier raised chickens and sold their eggs.

In 1974, Meier placed an ad in the German magazine Esotera seeking, “anyone who might wish to form a group for discussing and studying ‘metaphysical’ or paranormal subjects.” People responded to the ad, and a study group was born. It was at one of these meetings where Meier first made the astonishing claim that he was in direct contact with extraterrestrials.

Meier’s extraordinary claims garnered international attention when Swiss UFO researcher Lou Zinsstag sent some of Meier’s photos to Wendelle Stevens in the United States. Stevens went to Switzerland to investigate the case and, as a result, he published, UFO . . . Contact from the Pleiades, as well as Message from the Pleiades, a four-volume set of books related to the case. As one of the primary researchers of the Meier case, Stevens’s multi-year investigation played a large part in introducing Billy Meier to the world, as well as the world to Billy Meier.

    Meier’s UFO and Extraterrestrial Contact

Meier reportedly saw his first UFO at the age of five on June 2, 1942. He continued seeing UFOs, and the sightings increased in frequency. Meier also began hearing a voice in his head, and later that year, Meier experienced his first alleged physical extraterrestrial contact. Wendelle Stevens described this encounter in his book, UFO . . . Contact from the Pleiades:

In November that same year, shortly before his 6th birthday, [Meier] saw a pear-shaped object suddenly drop from the sky, and settle gently on the meadow grass in a woods near their home town of Bülach. An old man took him into the ship and high above Earth, then brought him back to the same meadow and let him out. The ship then shot up vertically at high speed until out of sight.

Meier says that this “old man” who took him for a ride on a spaceship was named Sfath. According to Stevens, Sfath continued communicating with Meier telepathically for a year and half, then returned in his pear-shaped craft to take Meier on another adventure, and “imparted a great deal of knowledge and told of events to come, much of which he did not understand at the time.” The next extraterrestrial to contact Meier was a female named Asket. Meier alleges his contact with Asket began in 1953, and she picked up where Sfath left off. She was apparently responsible for educating Meier, who, according to Kal K. Korff’s book Spaceships of the Pleiades, dropped out of school before finishing the sixth grade. In UFO . . . Contact from the Pleiades, Stevens explains Asket’s role in Meier’s life:

It was she who led him through a series of adventures designed to toughen him for the adversity to come. It was she who led him through Africa and the experiences in the French Foreign Legion, the Desert Caravans, the slavers, revolutionaries and bootleggers; into the hands of the pirates of the Arabian Sea, and across the Indian Ocean as a sailor with the freighters to the sub-continent of India.

It was Asket who led Meier to explore many careers, travel the world, and experience as much as possible.

In 1975, Meier began his contacts with Semjase—another female extraterrestrial—with whom he allegedly had more than one hundred face-to-face encounters. Semjase lends her name to the FIGU headquarters in Switzerland—the Semjase Silver Star Center. It was she who allowed Meier to begin photographing her “beamship” and other UFOs.

Quetzal, Ptaah, and Nera are three additional extraterrestrials who, along with Sfath, Asket, and Semjase, are the most commonly mentioned characters in the Billy Meier story. But these are only six out of the dozens of extraterrestrials Meier claims to have met. According to the FIGU website, Meier has had more than nine hundred personal contacts with extraterrestrials.

    Pleiadeans, Plejarens, Errans, and DALs

Sfath, like most other extraterrestrials that Meier supposedly encountered, was a Pleiadean—a human being (nearly identical in physical appearance to Earthlings), from the M45 star-cluster known as the Pleiades in the constellation Taurus. But this is not the Pleiades observable by Earth’s astronomers. This Pleiades is apparently, “not within our space-time configuration,” according to author and FIGU member Guido Moosbrugger. In his book about the Meier case titled, And Yet . . . They Fly, Moosbrugger describes that, “Pleiadeans exist in a physical dimension that is shifted a fraction of a second ahead of our space-time configuration and is located approximately 500 light-years from Earth’s prospective—an additional 80 light-years beyond our dimension’s Pleiades star system.”

The Pleiadeans reportedly inhabit many planets, but their home world is a planet called Erra. Meier has referred to people from Erra as Errans; and Pleiadeans, in general, are sometimes referred to as Plejarens, because in their dimension, the Pleiades are known as Plejaren.

But Meier’s alleged extraterrestrial contacts were not isolated to Plejarens. He claims to have encountered extraterrestrials from different galaxies, systems, and universes, including the DAL Universe, which is the alleged home of Asket.  In UFO . . . Contact from the Pleiades, Stevens states that the DAL Universe is a “counterpart universe to this of our reality.”

    The Evidence

    Billy Meier UFO Photo

Photograph of “Wedding cake” UFO by Billy Meier April 3, 1981.

From his numerous contacts, Meier claims to have taken more than a thousand UFO photos. Stevens, who, at one point, claimed to own the largest private UFO photo collection in the world, stated that Meier’s photos were “the most spectacular photographs” he had ever seen. Meier’s photographs remain some of the clearest UFO photos to date. But the authenticity of these photos is heavily debated. Stevens and the early Meier researchers claim to have had select photos examined by multiple laboratories, proving their legitimacy. In UFO . . . Contact from the Pleiades, Stevens states that the tested photos, “have withstood all efforts to positively dispute them.” However, Kal Korff identified many questionable characteristics in the photos, and even challenged Stevens’s purported testing in his booklet, The Meier Incident: The Most Infamous Hoax in Ufology. He points out that the tested photos were low-quality copies and not originals. Korff states that, according to Stevens, the best copies that could be obtained “for the purpose of photographic analysis and computer testing were internegatives which yielded anywhere from second through sixth-generation copy prints.” Korff contacted one of the labs where the Meier photos were supposedly analyzed, which resulted in “categorical denial that an analysis was ever done.” But according to Jim Dilettoso who, along with Stevens, facilitated the testing, there is a reason for the denial:

[We] found many professionals, who under secrecy and non-disclosure agreements tested these UFO pictures. This included Jet Propulsion Laboratory, EG&G, and USNRL. The secrecy was critical. These labs were not generally authorized to perform personal projects, like testing UFO pictures. So when other UFO researchers, hell bent on getting into the case, made inquiries into some of the places we had been, they would, (as agreed,) deny any involvement on their part in testing the Billy Meier UFO photographs.

Photo analysis aside, Korff and other skeptics have suggested that the UFOs in Meier’s photos are simply models. It was not extraordinary in the pre-Photoshop days of the 1970s for someone to hoax a UFO photo by photographing models, Frisbees, hubcaps, and other physical objects. And while some Meier supporters are quick to contend that it would be impossible for a one-armed man to stage UFO photos, Meier himself admits to taking pictures of UFO models. Burned photos of these models were allegedly found in Meier’s trash can by Martin Sorge, who at one time was Meier’s friend. As with many details of the Meier story, there are divergent accounts of this incident. While some accounts claim that Meier’s children created models of the UFOs, other accounts credit Meier with creating the models. In UFO . . . Contact from the Pleiades, Stevens explains, “When I asked about the models of the spaceships he readily admitted trying to model them even though they did not come out well. He even tried photographing the models and the result was so bad that he threw the pictures away.”

But a different account is presented by Guido Moosbrugger in And Yet . . . They Fly!:

One day in 1975, Semjase loaned Billy a model of her beamship for a short period to take a few pictures of it and then be returned. On the basis of these snapshots, Billy planned to construct his own model spacecraft, but this plan never came to fruition. A serious mishap occurred to the negatives of these model photographs—they slipped off the office tabletop into a wastepaper basket and were not found until after the entire contents had landed in a fireplace. Kalliope, Billy’s wife, discovered the more or less burned negatives in the ashes and handed them over to one of the group members to be restored, if possible.

It is interesting to note that Billy and Kalliope divorced, and she has since stated in interviews with Korff and Swiss UFO researcher and author Luc Buergin that Meier hoaxed his UFO photos and fabricated the tales of extraterrestrial encounters. However, this contradicts her previous statements that Meier’s contacts were real and that she, herself, witnessed events with Billy.

Select Meier photos have received far more skepticism than others. Among those are photos that Meier allegedly took during his travels through space and time with the extraterrestrials. Some of these photos show dinosaurs that Meier allegedly took on the planet Neber. But some researchers, like the Independent Investigations Group, contend that the dinosaurs in these photos are simply illustrations from a book that was published in 1972 titled Life Before Man, which was written by Zdenek V. Spinar. The illustrated dinosaurs in this book do appear to be identical to the dinosaurs in the Meier photos.

Billy Meier alleged dinosaur image (left) compared to image from “Life Before Man.”

Another highly criticized set of photos purports to show Asket and Nera aboard a beamship. The women in these photos have been identified as Michelle DellaFave and Susan Lund, who were members of the Golddiggers—a singing and dancing troupe that appeared on the Dean Martin Variety Show. According to a letter posted to the FIGU website by Meier in May 1998, the extraterrestrial Ptaah informed Meier that the photographs of Asket and Nera were actually of their American doubles. Meier went on to explain that the “Men in Black” had intercepted his film, found look-alikes for Asket and Nera, took pictures of them, and substituted these false images for the originals of the Asket/Nera photos. And, he claims the “Men in Black” performed this same trickery with most of his early photos.

Asket and Nera Billy Meier picture (left) compared to image of the Golddiggers on the Dean Martin Variety Show.

One lesser-known Meier photo shows Meier standing in the middle of what appears to be a ring of fiery light. This picture appears in Moosbrugger’s book, And Yet . . . They Fly!, and is explained to be an “energy belt” of “burning static electricity” emanating from Quetzal’s ship above Meier, which does not appear in the photo. Meier’s arm is extended over his head in the photo, allegedly holding a microphone to record the sound of Quetzal’s ship. Multiple researchers have pointed out that the ring of fire in this photo looks suspiciously identical to steel wool being swung overhead by someone.

Aside from his photographs, Meier furnishes other evidence to corroborate his claims of extraterrestrial contact, including metal samples, and even an extraterrestrial weapon. Meier gave these metal samples to Stevens, and Stevens had these samples tested by various labs. According to Stevens, tests showed that the elements in the samples were “put together in a very unusual way from normal Earth technology,” and that most of the elements studied showed “un-Earthly characteristics.” Dr. Marcel Vogel, a chemist, performed several tests on the metals. But according to Kal Korff, Dr. Vogel says the claims made in Stevens’s book contradict his opinions. According to Moosbrugger, analysis was also conducted by a metallurgist from the University of Arizona who, “examined one of the metal fragments and analyzed it as a simple ‘cooking pot metal’ or cheap cast metal alloy used to produce such things as tin soldiers.”

Meier claims that an extraterrestrial woman, Alena, left a ray gun with him, but cautioned him not to fire it. Unable to resist the temptation, Meier fired the weapon at a nearby fruit tree, burning a hole completely through the trunk of the tree. Meier showed the tree to Stevens, who took photos of the hole in the tree, and examined it with his finger. But to Stevens, the internal wood of this hole did not appear to have been burned.

    Conclusion

The information provided in this article barely scratches the surface of the decades-long Billy Meier story. Meier claims to have much more evidence, including audio recordings, UFO films, and tomes of transcripts from his encounters that are filled with extraterrestrial wisdom. Meier even asserts that, because of his claims, there have been multiple assassination attempts on his life! From this brief overview, it is easy to see why the Billy Meier story is so controversial, and, without a doubt, the most polarizing case in the history of ufology.

The question of whether we are alone in the universe is one that has intrigued mankind for centuries. With recent UFO sightings becoming more frequent and the Pentagon admitting to mysterious flying orbs, this question seems even more pressing. One such notable account comes from a Naval Intelligence Officer, Matthew Roberts.

    Decoding the UFO Sightings Phenomenon

Recent revelations from the Pentagon have turned the world’s attention towards the mysterious and unexplained UFO sightings. As the frequency of such sightings increases, individuals across the globe are becoming more vocal about their personal experiences, leading to a massive surge in search interest around “UFO sightings.”

    • The Phoenix Lights: Unravelling the Greatest UFO Mystery in History

@Motherboard, keeping abreast of this growing interest, recently unveiled a four-part docuseries titled “ENCOUNTERS” on Netflix. The docuseries, a collaboration between VICE Studios, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, Boardwalk Pictures, and Netflix, not only delves into these sightings but also humanizes the experiences, providing viewers with firsthand accounts from those who claim to have encountered these unidentified flying objects.

The series, directed by Yon Motskin, promises a riveting journey across Texas, Wales, Zimbabwe, and Japan, retracing the steps of those who’ve witnessed these unexplained phenomena.

Matthew Roberts: A Witness from Within the Military

The account of Matthew Roberts stands out. A cryptologic technician in the US Navy for 16 years, Roberts was aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt during what’s infamously known as the ‘gimbal event.’

Upon watching the footage of the event, Roberts was struck by the unidentified flying object’s unique movement and form. Unlike any conventional aircraft, this UFO lacked any recognizable aviation surfaces – no wings, tail, or rudders. Roberts, having had access to classified data due to his role, knew that such occurrences weren’t isolated incidents. The Navy had been documenting them for a long time.

In 2017, upon transferring to the Office of Naval Intelligence, his experiences with the unexplained intensified. Claims of encounters with nonhuman entities in his room became a regular occurrence. Waking up to feel himself being taken, spotting shadowy figures – all these accounts lend weight to Roberts’ conviction that we’re not alone.

Roberts believes in the presence of ample sensor and radar evidence about these UFO sightings. His sentiment echoes the larger public sentiment that if all the data were made available without any explanation, it would erase any skepticism about the phenomenon’s authenticity.

David Grusch Credits Elizondo Galactic Zoo Theory: Aliens Are Studying Us & UFO Crashes Are Intentional

David Grusch, a former 14-year high-ranking intelligence officer, is one of the three whistleblowers who testified before Congress on July 26, 2023, in the historical UAP hearings. After two months, Grusch appeared in a lengthy interview with Jesse Michels, where he discussed his claims broadly and also disclosed some more information related to his claims.

His testimony highlights that the US government has been concealing evidence of UFOs and indications of non-human intelligence. He declined to provide this information publicly but claimed to have shared it with the intelligence committees and the Inspector General and suggested discussing it in a closed environment.

Grusch has the support of many individuals in authority who believe he is an authentic person. In this June 2023 edition of the Debrief, authors Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal mention Karl E. Nell, a retired Army Colonel and aerospace executive who worked with David Grusch and characterized Grusch as “beyond reproach.” Nell speaks highly of Grusch’s integrity and credibility in his role as the Army’s liaison for the UAP Task Force from 2021 to 2022. (Click here to read the full article)

In the recent interview with Jesse Michels, Grusch discussed a range of topics, including the severe penalties faced by the leakers of classified UFO information, the existence of “nonhuman intelligence” pilots operating UFOs, and the initial reasons for concealing UFO information, which included concerns about societal shock and adversarial nations like Russia.

Grusch also highlighted the connection between the Manhattan Project and laws related to UFO secrecy, as well as the existence of a classified project related to UFOs separate from Project Blue Book. He suggested that the technology of these “nonhuman intelligence” entities may be highly advanced but evolved asymmetrically compared to humans, emphasizing their interest in nuclear technology. Luis Elizondo hinted that US Military had created an environment to attract UFOs so that they could study them. (Click here to read the full article)

Grusch cites a previous statement made by Lue Elizondo, a former Pentagon UFO official, regarding the “Galactic Zoo hypothesis.” This hypothesis suggests that extraterrestrials are observing us, possibly explaining the nature of these beings. It is evident that Grusch takes care to directly reference Elizondo’s prior interview, where he mentioned that these extraterrestrials are intentionally designed to have a humanoid appearance for interaction with humans.

David Fravor is another UFO whistleblower who testified along with Grusch before Congress. He discussed an encounter where he and his team were informed by a controller that unidentified flying objects (UFOs) had been observed for over two weeks descending rapidly from over 80,000 feet to 20,000 feet, hovering for extended periods, and then quickly ascending again. Michels and Grusch engage in a conversation about the mysterious nature of these objects, with Michels suggesting that they seem to exhibit awareness and play a sort of cat-and-mouse game with observers.

Grusch said, “Yeah, I know. I’ve had some folks I talked to that had their own kind of up-close kind of sightings. They said that they got that vibe too, you know? Who knows if that’s psychosomatic or sure or what, but they did get a vibe like that too… I’ve had a very smart guy who was like, ‘Well, did Darwin care to fully conceal himself when he studied the finches?’ And it’s like, they observe. They don’t really care, right? And they don’t really care to interact, but they’re just here to observe.”

The discussion touches on the idea that these UFOs might be studying or observing human activity, similar to anthropologists studying a tribe, and explores analogies like the “gorilla in the cage” and the possibility of these objects having an interest in nuclear power.

Big Think writes, “The Zoo Hypothesis, proposed by the MIT radio astronomer John A. Ball in 1973, says that aliens may be avoiding contact with us on purpose, so as not to interfere with our evolution and the development of our societies. The human civilization could be essentially living in a ‘zoo’ or a space wildlife sanctuary, where others populating the cosmos dare not go. By staying clear of us, they avoid interplanetary contamination.

The hypothesis makes the most sense in a crowded universe, if there are many civilizations which set up rules by which they govern their coexistence. Of course, if there are many extraterrestrial players, it is also doubtful that one of them wouldn’t have somehow contacted us, even if by accident. Maybe that’s what the Earth’s alien hunters are picking up on – random, unsanctioned interactions.”

    Read also:

In 2016, Josh Hrala told ScienceAlert that while the zoo hypothesis does assume that aliens exist, perhaps the reason why they are not interacting with us is because they do not want to have any influence on our society and just want to keep observing us from far away. This makes sense as Grusch insinuates in the interview that the initial reasoning for hiding the information was the ontological shock it would cause in society due to society’s religiousness at the time, along with concealing the information from adversaries like Russia.

    Why do they crash?

In the interview, Grusch suggested that UFO crashes may have been intentionally seeded to test humanity’s development in relation to being exposed to this technology. Astronomer Jacques Vallee thinks UFO crashes are not accidental events, but rather intentional occurrences that serve a specific purpose for the mysterious visitors.

Anomalien.com writes, “Vallee begins by pointing out that the evidence for UFO crashes is very weak and often contradictory. He argues that most of the alleged crash sites have never been properly investigated or verified by independent experts, and that many of the witnesses and whistleblowers who claim to have seen or handled alien bodies or debris are unreliable or have ulterior motives.”

He also mentions that the UFOs and the materials they are made of do not follow the normal rules of science and engineering. He thinks this is because the UFOs are intentionally confusing us, making us see things that do not make sense on purpose.

Vallee said, “There is plenty of data – and it should be analyzed further. But I do not think it’s going to be a propeller from a flying saucer. I think it is going to be things that would be interesting if you could find a pattern to the material. I’m skeptical about stories of crashed saucers; I have an open mind about it, but I’ve heard those stories for so many years and they never really amount to anything tangible. Also, I am skeptical for another reason: We build technologies now that are extremely reliable where there is the need. How often does your hard disk crash? I mean, if you keep your computer for 15 years, eventually the hard disk is going to crash. But you don’t expect that to happen. If you were going to build a technology that takes you across interstellar space, it would have to be extremely reliable.” (Source)

According to Vallee, the UFOs do not want to interact with us directly. Instead, they want to create a mysterious situation that makes us question what is real and what is not. He believes that these UFO events are like a big test for humanity. They want to see how we react – whether we get curious, scared, amazed, doubtful, or obsessed. Vallee thinks that how we react to these UFOs could change how we evolve and what our future looks like.

The discussion also touched on the possibility of UFOs being our descendants from the future, military sensory systems detecting UFOs more frequently due to advanced technology, and Grusch’s perspective shaped by being on the Autism spectrum.

Additionally, Grusch’s background as a veteran and his involvement in drafting the National Defense Authorization Act of 2023, which includes provisions for reporting UFOs, were noted as relevant to his insights.

Moreover, any discovered UFO technology will be revealed to the public through a “Controlled Disclosure Campaign” plan, according to the US Defence Authorisation Act 2024, which is set to go before President Biden towards the end of the year.

Journalist Claims Aliens Engaging With Earth Will Be Revealed In 12-18 Months: They Look Like ‘Greys’

Former US intelligence official David Grusch has set a benchmark for numerous anonymous whistleblowers to step forward and reveal the truth concealed by the government for a minimum of 90 years. Grusch claimed that the US government has proof of alien life and spacecraft from another species. He mentions a significant number of these spacecraft, some of which have landed while others have crashed.

Now, at least 30 other whistleblowers secretly confirm “Non-Human Biologics” & “Retrieval Programs.” Journalist Michael Shellenberger writes that “they are working for the federal government or government contractors have given testimony, or a ‘protected disclosure,’ to the Office of the Intelligence Community Inspector General (IC IG), the Defense Department Inspector General (DOD IG), or to Congress over the last several months, according to multiple sources interviewed by Public.” (Source)

In this interview with veteran Melbourne talkback radio host Neil Mitchell, investigative journalist Ross Coulthart shared some background information about UFOs and what is going on within the US Congress related to the phenomena. Coulthart, who has extensively researched and written about this subject, emphasized that the question of whether we are alone in the universe is, in his view, “the biggest story ever.”

“I personally think there’s an extremely high probability that we are not alone as an intelligent species in this universe, and I also think from the sources that I speak to, there is a preponderance of evidence to suggest, at least prima facie, that we should assume that we are being visited by a non-human intelligence,” Coulthart said.

In the interview, Coulthart shared his encounter with an individual named Nat Kobitz, who had been a Director of Science Technology Development for the U.S. Navy. Kobitz, who later died of cancer, disclosed the existence of non-human intelligence and multiple crash retrievals to Coulthart. This conversation served as a catalyst for Coulthart’s deep dive into the subject. Through Kobitz, Coulthart was introduced to individuals with direct knowledge and involvement in what he refers to as “the program.” These connections led him to more sources, and as a journalist, he reached his conclusion based on a preponderance of evidence.

Ross Coulthart acknowledged that the reasons for the cover-up are multifaceted, suggesting that the initial secrecy in the 1950s stemmed from concerns that the religious world would be deeply disturbed by the notion of encountering an advanced non-human intelligence.

Coulthart says, “I think the real reason that’s at the heart of this is knowing, as I do from the sources that I’ve spoken to, that the United States definitely has recovered technology. I think that there is a Cold War battle underway for the attempt to try to replicate that technology, to reverse engineer it. This has been going on since at least the end of World War II, incredibly. And it hasn’t been very successful, but the Americans are aware that the Russians have got similar technology, and so have the Chinese.”

Mitchell questioned Coulthart about the evidence he had personally seen or whether he was relying solely on second-hand reports. Coulthart replied, “This is why I’m not a hundred percent… I try and talk a little bit legalistically. I don’t believe that we’re Beyond Reasonable Doubt yet. I think on the balance of probabilities, yes, I do think that we have what are called biologics. I do think that they have recovered biological material and bodies, and I’ve actually spoken to people who’ve told me that they’ve seen bodies.”

Coulthart acknowledged that he had not personally witnessed UFOs or bodies but had formed his opinion based on the accounts of numerous individuals who had provided evidence over the course of several years. These individuals, some of whom have testified under oath, have described encounters with entities that fit the classic description of “Grays/Greys.”

Most of the descriptions that I’ve heard concur with the classic gray shape: the large head, enormous eyes, very little if any nose, barely discernible slit of a mouth, no ears—essentially, the classic three-foot to four-foot-high gray.

Coulthart speculated about the possibility of the UFO truth becoming public knowledge in the near future, suggesting that within 12 to 18 months, the world might have a clearer understanding of the mysterious phenomenon of UAPs and UFOs. “I think that the world will probably know publicly within, I suspect, 12 to 18 months,” he said.

Coulthart also discussed the issue of secrecy in Washington, highlighting that there are thousands of special access programs in which sensitive information is protected and does not leak to the public. He mentioned that even though notable investigative journalists have uncovered significant secrets, there are many that remain hidden from the public eye.

Coulthart said, “David Grusch laughed when I said that term because I asked him the same question, and I said, ‘You know, you guys can’t keep a secret in Washington, for God’s sake, the place leaks.’ And he laughed because he was briefed into 2,000-plus special access programs, most of which he says have never leaked secrets that are integral to U.S. national security programs that are still protected.”

When asked about the most impressive revelation from his interview with David Grush, Coulthart pointed to Grusch’s admission that there have been multiple retrievals of non-human craft and entities, which he refers to as “biologics” or non-human intelligence beings. Coulthart underscored the fact that Grusch, although not having personally seen these beings or craft, played a pivotal role in bringing individuals with direct knowledge to testify before the Senate Select Committee for Intelligence and the House Permanent Select Committee for Intelligence, two of the most influential committees in the United States government.

Coulthart highlighted the growing momentum within Congress to reveal the truth about these phenomena, driven by a pro-disclosure movement within the defense community. He noted that some senior figures, including generals and admirals, believe it is time for the public to be informed. However, he also pointed out the anti-transparency faction, which, at present, appears to be in the majority. This faction is concerned about the potential impact on national security and foreign relations, particularly with the rising tensions with China.

Coulthart discussed the possibility of alien disclosure within the next 12 to 18 months, suggesting that there might be an acknowledgment of non-human intelligence engaging with Earth. He mentioned efforts to secure interviews with senior officials who could make such an admission. However, he also pointed out that there is a pushback against full disclosure, partly due to concerns about the current political climate, including questions about Joe Biden’s capacity to lead and uncertainty about how a potential future President, like Donald Trump, might handle such sensitive information.

Ross Coulthart: “So, I wouldn’t be surprised if what we saw was a compromise where there was the beginning of an admission that, ‘Oh gosh, yes, we think there may indeed be life behind this, some kind of intelligence, but we need to do more work.’ I think we might see that kind of qualified revelation, but it’s still a remote possibility. It’s equally possible that this all might be put back in a box and covered up for another 50 years.”

Coulthart also touched upon the potential corporate implications of disclosure, particularly regarding companies like Lockheed Martin, which might have been involved in concealing non-human technology. He mentioned legislation proposed by Chuck Schumer that could assert eminent domain over any non-human technology and biologic bodies, essentially confiscating these assets and raising concerns about how publicly traded companies would handle such a situation.

    Alien/UAP disclosure soon?

The US Senate has passed an amendment that would force government agencies to hand over any records on UFOs within 300 days and would mandate the disclosure of those records to the public unless there is a compelling reason to keep them classified. However, the new legislation explains that the president can postpone disclosure of certain records if disclosure poses a national security risk. The legislation requires postponed records to be reviewed periodically to see if it is safe to declassify them. (Source)

After the Review Board has made a formal determination concerning public disclosure or postponement, the President will have the sole ability to overturn or concur such determination. At the latest, each UAP record must be publicly disclosed in full and made available in the Collection no later than 25 years after the law is enacted, unless the President certifies that continued postponement is necessary because of a direct harm to national security.

The horrors of Plum Island: Hybrids, human experiments, killer insects

Animal experts were brought in to identify it. They were stumped. It looked like part dog, part reptile and part rodent - with the beak of a bird. This animal, whatever it was, became known as the Montauk Monster.
But then another animal washed up on the beach. Again, it couldn't be identified. And then another animal. And then two more.
In January 2010 a human body was found on Plum Island by a local security guard. It was described as a six foot tall black male with no obvious signs of trauma but there were a few strange details about this man. One is that his fingers were described as abnormally large, some news agencies reported that his hands seemed mutated but the scariest detail off all, his skull had five holes drilled into it, indicating invasive brain surgery or experimentation.
But where did all these creatures come from?
There could be only one answer. Plum Island.
Plum Island is just a few miles from where these creatures were found.
Less than two miles off the coast of Long Island and about 85 miles from New York City is a small island owned by the US Government and unidentified on most Maps and it's only accessible by ferry or helicopter, boats that wander too close are quickly chased away by armed military personnel
The island is home to the Plum Island Animal Disease Center a federal research facility that officially studies livestock related diseases specifically foot mouth disease and African swine fever.
This center is the only lab in the U.S. authorized to work with live fmd samples and if these samples escape the island it could devastate the country's food supply in a matter of weeks.
For years rumors and stories circulated that the Animal Disease Center at Plum Island was a top-secret government facility that created bioweapons, engineered animal hybrids and conducting genetic experiments on animals and possibly on people.
After the bodies of strange creatures began washing up on beaches around the Long Island, it could mean only one thing, the rumors about Plum Island were true.
But the Island's true history is much darker, check out the video of The Why Files below....

UFO Sightings and the Alaskan Enigma: The Mysterious Ketchikan Connection

    UFO Footage Filmed in Ketchikan

From the iconic Roswell incident to the notorious Area 51, UFO sightings have always stirred a mix of intrigue, skepticism, and fear. While these stories generally dominate southwestern deserts, there’s an often-overlooked hotspot for UFO activity that might surprise many: the picturesque town of Ketchikan, Alaska. But what is it about this serene town that’s turning it into the new capital for UFO sightings?

    The Ketchikan Chronicles

Situated far southeast of the enigmatic Alaska Triangle, Ketchikan is embraced by mountainous forests and the deep, mysterious waters of Alaska’s inside passage. However, the town’s allure goes beyond its natural beauty. Over the years, Ketchikan has become synonymous with inexplicable UFO sightings. From radiant orbs hovering over the ocean to lights performing outlandish maneuvers in the night sky, the town has seen it all.

Local artist and wilderness guide, Terry Piles, recounts an unforgettable New Year’s Eve in 2012 when he observed not one, but two glowing objects descending from the sky. To him, they resembled cauldrons of molten metal, accompanied by an eerie silence. He’s not alone in his experiences. Many Ketchikan residents have their own stories to share, making UFO sightings almost a part of the local culture.

Secret Military Operations: Coincidence or Connection?

It’s not just the UFO sightings that have piqued interest. Southeast Alaska, and Ketchikan, in particular, has had a long-standing military presence, most of which is veiled in secrecy. The waters off Ketchikan, though hundreds of miles away from the closest U.S. naval subbase in Washington state, often see nuclear subs traversing the waves. This led to the eventual public acknowledgment of the CFAC, Southeast Alaska Acoustic Measurement Facility, a secret submarine testing site.

While the official line is that CFAC is primarily for acoustical testing of submarines, many believe there’s more beneath the surface. Could there be a correlation between these secretive submarine activities and the frequent UFO sightings in the region?

Eric Hecker, a UFO researcher and former Navy weapons technician, believes so. From his experience, military establishments often have hidden agendas. The Ketchikan phenomena make many wonder if the military might be engaging in reverse engineering, possibly analyzing alien technology salvaged from the deep.

    • UFO Footage Filmed in Ketchikan Proves High UFO Activity In the Area | The Alaska Triangle

The combination of frequent UFO sightings, secret military operations, and the mysterious allure of Ketchikan creates a tantalizing puzzle. Whether it’s the breathtaking beauty of the Alaskan landscapes or the possibility of witnessing extraterrestrial activity, Ketchikan is surely on the map for UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike.

As UFO sightings become more mainstream and research continues, one can only hope that the answers to the Ketchikan mystery will soon be unveiled. For now, the skies (and waters) of Ketchikan remain a fascinating conundrum, beckoning all those eager to unravel its secrets.

THE ROCKET THAT COULD TAKE HUMANS TO MARS HAS BEEN 50 YEARS IN THE MAKING

Most of today’s rockets generate immense energy from chemical reactions. There’s another way — and the technology has been with us for a generation.

In 2025, if all goes according to plan, NASA will launch the first-ever nuclear fission-powered rocket into space.

The Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operations (DRACO) won’t go very far. It will only reach an orbit above Earth, the distance of most satellites. But if DRACO is successful, its successors could set out for Mars or the outer solar system. Nuclear fission can reach Mars or the outer solar system far more quickly and efficiently than today’s rockets. In fact, nuclear fission might be the only way humans ever make it to the Red Planet.

“The final goal is to get to Mars,” Fatima Ebrahimi, a physicist at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, tells Inverse. “You really need nuclear for that.”

    REVIVING A HALF-CENTURY-OLD DREAM

Most of today’s rockets are chemical rockets, generating immense energy from chemical reactions. If you’ve ever seen a chemical rocket launch, you know how spectacular it can be. “Chemical rockets have the advantage of producing large thrust — they are very powerful,” Ebrahimi says. “But they cannot go very far.”

If we want to get to Mars with today’s chemical rockets, we have to take advantage of narrow windows when our planets’ orbits align, which come just once every 26 months. To reach the outer solar system with those same rockets, we usually have to undertake an even more complicated path, dipping closer to the Sun and harnessing the gravity of a planet like Venus to pick up sufficient speed. It’s also quite time-consuming. To reach Jupiter in the early 2030s, for example, we would need to launch today.

    Enter nuclear energy.

“The final goal is to get to Mars ... You really need nuclear for that.”

If the phrase “nuclear rockets” sounds old fashioned, you aren’t wrong. Nuclear rockets were an invention of the 20th century, not the 21st. But in staking a nuclear-powered future, the American space program is reviving a dream that is over half a century old.

Engineers have been tinkering with nuclear rockets since the dawn of the Space Age. In the 1950s, when nuclear energy was new and exciting, the U.S. Air Force and Atomic Energy Commission teamed up to develop Project Rover, a prototype nuclear engine that could power a missile.

Then came NASA, which took over the program, ditched the missiles, and transformed the tests into a dedicated program to get a nuclear engine into space: Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Application (NERVA). In the sands of a nuclear test site in Nevada, NERVA fine-tuned a sequence of test-fired engines. At least on the ground, the tests were successful.

A 1964 nuclear rocket prototype where the crew would be housed in the upper stage with a heavily shielded bulkhead separating them from the engines.

    NASA

T United States wasn’t alone in taking nuclear rockets for a spin. In 1965, the Soviet Union began crafting its own prototype nuclear rocket and kept up the research for decades. Well into the 1980s, Soviet engineers conducted full-scale trials of an engine they called RD-0410 at the Semipalatinsk nuclear testing ground in northeast Kazakhstan. Nevertheless, RD-0410 never fully took flight.

NASA higher-ups wanted to ensure NERVA would not suffer such a fate. Documents from NERVA’s golden age in the mid-1960s label nuclear rockets as a key part of NASA’s future. By then, planners had already drawn up NERVA-powered mission proposals that would make Apollo’s great leaps look like puddle-jumps. Nuclear cargo ferries to moon bases in the 1970s! Regular flights to Mars and back by the 1980s!

As you might imagine, those grand designs never came to pass. After Apollo 11 did its job, pressures from the Nixon administration and budget cuts shifted NASA’s focus to near-Earth projects like Skylab and the Space Shuttle.

    NASA

Even though NERVA had political support and over $1 billion of investment, the project didn’t have a place in this new NASA era and was mothballed in 1973 before ever entering space. But even as budget cuts doomed Project NERVA to fade away into the desert — and even as nuclear power, in general, gained a fallout-stained reputation thanks to Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and the simultaneous rise of an anti-nuclear movement — the idea of nuclear rockets never truly disappeared.

THE RETURN OF THE NUCLEAR ROCKET

For the pyrotechnic-minded, the words “nuclear rocket” might conjure images of something like Project Orion: a craft that would push itself along by triggering nuclear detonations behind it. In reality, nuclear propulsion is a little more mundane (and, certainly, more compliant with international bans on nuclear explosions in outer space).

The nuclear rockets that engineers propose — to be more specific, what they call a nuclear thermal rocket (NTR) — replace chemical reactions with a fission reactor.

NTR designs vary, but most are built around two key components: the reactor itself and a superheated fluid, typically liquid hydrogen. A turbopump pipes the hydrogen through the reactor, which superheats the liquid into searing gas. In turn, the gas escapes out an attached nozzle, creating thrust. The hotter the rocket can heat the fuel, the more thrust it can produce.

    LOCKHEED MARTIN

To the untrained eye, an NTR engine wouldn’t look obviously different from a chemical rocket. Even from the rocket builder’s eye, many of an NTR engine’s components — the valves, the nozzles, the hydrogen that must be kept at cryogenic temperatures — have places aboard a chemical rocket.

Where nuclear rockets shine instead is in their efficiency, what rocket scientists call specific impulse. In other words, how much an engine can boost its spacecraft with the same amount of fuel. NTR engines have two to three times more specific impulses than their chemical counterparts. Once outside Earth’s gravity, nuclear-powered craft can travel far more quickly than chemical craft.

Again, if we wanted to reach Mars using the best chemical rockets we have available, it would be very difficult, with available launch times of just once every 26 months. NTR engines promise to drastically slash those times. Because they can accelerate spacecraft to higher speeds, they open up far more opportunities for flights to other planets that don’t require complex gravitational dances.

“It gives me the ability to abort my mission and return home — not all the time, but for a much longer part of my mission,” Kurt Polzin, chief engineer for space nuclear propulsion at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, tells Inverse.

NTR proponents like Polzin believe that isn’t the only reason a nuclear-powered mission will be fundamentally safer than one with today’s rockets. A shorter journey means astronauts can carry fewer supplies, and their bodies won’t absorb as much ionizing radiation en route.

“If we can improve crew safety, I think we would consider that what we’ve done has been very successful,” Polzin says.

GETTING OUT OF EARTH’S ORBIT AND ONTO THE MOON

In the 1980s and 1990s, nuclear rockets gathered dust, and most scientists overlooked them. Nuclear rocket designs became the province of secretive U.S. military projects like the Strategic Defense Initiative (the so-called “Star Wars”) Project Timber Wind, which tried to return the technology to its destructive missile roots.

But by the 2010s, a new generation of researchers had taken hold, and NASA’s priorities again began to shift away from Earth orbit. NASA engineers once more dared to dream up plans for nuclear-powered Mars missions.

Within a few short years, it also became clear that the Artemis Program — NASA’s ambitious push to establish a permanent base on the Moon, which could serve as a stopover for human missions to Mars — was actually going to happen. Funding began to follow. In 2019, the U.S. Congress allocated more than $100 million to NTR research.

Dale Thomas, a propulsion engineer at the University of Alabama in Huntsville whose research focuses on NTR engines, thinks there’s one big, Earth-bound factor contributing to the sudden rise in interest in nuclear power. “[Climate change] has caused people to rethink their position on nuclear power in general as a non-greenhouse gas emitting technology,” Thomas tells Inverse. He says shifts in attitudes, which resulted in new nuclear power plants and delays of plans to close old ones, extend to space travel as well.

Thomas, for his part, hopes that studying how to build better NTR engines — building reactors that can stand up to the intense pressures and temperatures of a reactor — can translate into building better reactors down on Earth.

The largest challenge, Thomas says, is “convincing NASA mission planners that they can count on nuclear thermal propulsion in their mission designs.”

That is one goal of DRACO, the mission that plans to launch the first nuclear-powered rocket, picking up where NERVA left off half a century ago.

DRACO will launch atop a standard chemical rocket, partly because chemical rockets are currently more powerful and partly to minimize the risk of a nuclear accident. That rocket will take DRACO up to a relatively high orbit above Earth — somewhere between 435 and 1,240 miles (700 and 2,000 kilometers) — where engineers will take DRACO’s nuclear drive through preliminary tests in a space environment.

We’ve never done this before ... we’re going to learn how to do it … we’re going to take that and pay it forward to the next system.

DRACO inherits NERVA’s legacy and research results, but there are a few differences between the two. For one, where NERVA used weapons-grade uranium, which is over 90 percent uranium-235, DRACO uses what is called high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU), which is more like 10 to 20 percent uranium-235. This brings DRACO closer to the uranium that’s used in the civilian nuclear power sector. While HALEU does generate less power, acquiring a license to play with it in the U.S. is far easier and far cheaper than getting permission for the higher-grade stuff.

Additionally, part of the reason DRACO’s builders are so eager to test it in space is that, with NERVA’s facilities long abandoned, the original testing grounds are no longer usable. In that sense, it’s already getting off the ground far more quickly than NERVA ever could.

“I just hope that the mission is successful as planned,” Thomas says. “That is, a successful flight demonstration of a nuclear-thermal-propulsion-powered spacecraft.”

DRACO is a prototype. Much of the test’s value will be in letting NASA’s engineers gain practical knowledge: practicing getting DRACO into space in the first place, understanding the quirks of an NTR engine in operation, and creating flight checklists for a type of engine they have never flown.

“We’ve never done this before,” Polzin says. “We’re going to learn how to do it … we’re going to take that and pay it forward to the next system.”

There is still a great deal of work to be done. For instance, Polzin says that engineers need to push NTR engines to even higher temperatures than DRACO. But Polzin firmly believes that “next system” — or the one after it, or so on — will be what finally pushes astronauts to Mars.

NTR may be just the beginning of a growing category of what some scientists and engineers call “advanced propulsion” — or propulsion that doesn’t rely on standard chemical reactions.

Probes to destinations near Earth rely on electric ion propulsion, which uses electric current to accelerate xenon or krypton ions out of a thruster to push it forward. In fact, future craft may generate that current with nuclear fission. More hypothetically, engineers have proposed craft that very literally sail through the solar system with solar sails, which would catch the sun’s light as an oceanic ship’s sails catch the winds. Meanwhile, Princeton’s Ebrahimi is one of a handful of scientists working on engines powered by a different sort of nuclear physics: fusion.

There is no reason we have to only power spacecraft with one type of engine. The future of space travel might be all of these options existing in tandem, each one specialized for a specific purpose.

Astronomers discover thousands of active red galaxy hearts with powerful radio signals

A dusty quasar is seen as red and radio loud from Earth.

Red quasars filled with cosmic dust produce stronger radio emissions than their bluer, dust-free counterparts — and these phenomena, scientists say, could represent a generation of younger active galaxies with supermassive black holes that only recently switched into overdrive.

"There are still many unanswered questions surrounding red quasars, such as whether black hole winds or radio jets are ultimately responsible for this enhanced radio emission," Victoria Fawcett, lead author of a new study on this finding and an astronomer at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, said in a statement.

However, Fawcett believes we're getting close to the brink of fully understanding the nature of these incredible marvels.

    Related:

quasar is the powerful central region of an active galaxy, and is driven by a supermassive black hole that is being fed huge amounts of matter. That matter forms a disk of gas around the black hole, known as an accretion disk, that reaches millions of degrees and releases fierce radiation winds. Meanwhile, magnetically collimated jets launch outwards from the disk.

Quasars are so bright that they vastly outshine the collective starlight of their host galaxies and can therefore be seen across the universe.

Most quasars appear blue, a hue caused by  optical and ultraviolet emissions from the hot accretion disk. However, a fraction appears red instead. To reach their conclusions about those red quasars, Fawcett and fellow researchers sampled approximately 35,000 quasars observed by DESI, the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument on the Mayall Telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona.

Of this collection, Fawcett’s group found 3,038 to be red quasars. Cross-referencing with radio astronomy data from the LOFAR (Low Frequency Array) Two-meter Sky Survey (LoTSS), they confirmed that most of these red ones are also emitting strongly in radio waves.

The redness comes from the presence of dust, which absorbs shorter, bluer wavelengths but allows longer, redder wavelengths to pass. The red quasars must therefore be smothered in cosmic dust, formed of tiny grains just microns in size.

"It was really exciting to see the amazing quality of the DESI data and to discover thousands of these previously rare red quasars," Fawcett said. "I think this is the strongest evidence so far that red quasars are a key element in how galaxies evolve."

The red quasars seem to be radiating more strongly in radio waves than the blue quasars because of interactions between  outflows of radiation pouring from a quasar and the surrounding curtains of dust. As the outflows slam into the dust, they excite molecules within the dust to prompt the emission of radio waves. Over time, the outflows, driven by the energy of a supermassive black hole hungrily feeding on vast amounts of matter, will blow the dusty cloak away to leave a naked blue quasar with much weaker radio emission. Fawcett calls this the 'blow-out' phase.

Therefore, when astronomers see a red quasar, they are seeing a younger quasar than if they were to see a blue one.

The realization that red quasars represent a younger type of quasar could prove to be an important missing piece in our understanding of how galaxies develop and evolve over time. It’s believed that most galaxies, at one time or another, undergo a quasar phase, and that there is an observed relationship between the mass of the supermassive black hole at the heart of a quasar and the mass of the galactic bulge belonging to the quasar's host galaxy. In other words, quasar activity seems to help grow the mass of a galaxy.

The origin of quasar dust may be a by-product of this. Cosmic dust is produced by stars when they die, either as explosive supernovas or in more sedate fashion by putting off their outer layers to form a planetary nebula. Either way, the presence of dust in a quasar suggests that it has undergone a starburst – an intense period of rapid star formation, with many of those stars having already expired. Starbursts are commonly found in active galaxies, particularly those that have endured a galactic merger that has forced massive molecular clouds to crash into one another and instigate the star formation process.

The research was published on Sept. 13 in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

    The Secret Truth of UFOs

    The Secret Truth of UFOs

UAPs or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena have long been a topic of intrigue, speculation, and skepticism. Whether it’s the elusive Area 51 tales, the intriguing reports from military pilots, or the alleged sightings from ordinary citizens, the mystery behind these phenomena persists. This article dives deep into the world of UAPs, examining credible sources, documented experiences, and the burning questions they leave in their wake.

    The Puzzling World of UAPs:

While Hollywood might have you believe that every unidentified object in the sky is an alien spacecraft, the truth is far more nuanced. UAPs encompass a range of anomalies – from optical illusions and atmospheric conditions to high-tech drones or potentially otherworldly entities.

Recent data collection efforts have revealed something fascinating. Contrary to popular belief, the US Department of Defense (DoD) hasn’t filtered out fast or slow-moving objects in their radar data, providing a more comprehensive view of what’s really out there.

    Radar Filters & Unveiling Truths:

One notable revelation concerns the DoD’s radar systems. While focused primarily on detecting conventional aircraft and missiles, there’s an acknowledgment of ‘filters’ set on these radars. The implication? Decades of data might have omitted these UAPs. Speculations run wild. Could they be technological assets from rivals like Russia dating back to the Cold War? Or perhaps advancements of US technology, strategically hidden?

The potential of this technology, if real, is astonishing. UAPs have been reported to perform maneuvers that defy our current understanding of physics and aeronautics. Instant acceleration, sharp turns at unbelievable speeds, and hovering still in the air have all been documented.

    Whistleblowers & the Controversies:

Bob Lazar stands out as a significant, albeit controversial, figure in UAP discourse. He claimed to have worked in Area 51, revealing secrets about reverse engineering alien tech. Though skeptics question the authenticity of his claims, the sheer amount of detailed information he provided remains thought-provoking.

It’s not just Lazar. Commander David Grosch came forward, risking his reputation, driven by a “sense of duty” to share his experiences. This bravery shines a light on the seriousness with which some insiders view these phenomena.

    VIDEO:

The realm of UAPs remains clouded in mystery. Are they secret advanced technology? Evidences of extraterrestrial life? Or perhaps a mixture of many explanations? While we might not have definitive answers, one thing is clear – our sky holds more mysteries than we once believed.
