It's possible that the story of the Men in Black, the mysterious figures that would become the subject of fascination in UFO conspiracy circles and eventually break into mainstream popular culture, can be traced back to one day: June 27, 1947. It's quite possible that it all started with a man, a boy and a dog on a boat.

As the story goes, Harold Dahl was on a conservation mission on the Puget Sound near the eastern shore of Washington’s Maury Island, gathering logs, when he saw six donut-shaped obstacles hovering about a half a mile above his boat. Before long, one of them fell nearly 1,500 feet, followed by raining, metallic debris, some of which hit Dahl’s son, Charles, on his arm, as well as the family dog, who didn’t survive the ordeal. Dahl was able to take some pictures of the aircraft with his camera, which he later showed to his supervisor, Fred Crisman. A skeptical Crisman went back to the scene to look for himself and saw a strange aircraft with his own eyes.

The following morning, Dahl was visited by a man in a black suit. They end up at a local diner, where the man was able to recount in extraordinary detail what Dahl had just experienced. “What I have said is proof to you that I know a great deal more about this experience of yours than you will want to believe,” the man said, according to author Gray Barker’s 1956 book They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers.

Dahl was told not to speak of the incident. If he did, bad things would happen.

The supposed events of Maury Island have continued to fuel conspiracy theories to this day, even though a U.S. government investigation deemed it a hoax after Dahl and Crimson later admitted as much. In particular, the mention of the man in the black suit would evolve into a key obsession for UFO enthusiasts and spread into American popular culture, thanks to a comic-book series and a blockbuster movie trilogy.

In all of their different incarnations, the Men in Black (MIB) usually have one main purpose: to muzzle witnesses of strange, paranormal phenomena. They almost always wear black suits and hats with dark sunglasses, drive black cars and arrive in groups of two or three. Some describe them as one would an FBI agent, while others recall the MIB as having strange appearances, sometimes with supernatural features like glowing eyes and strange complexions.

So how did we get from Harold Dahl to Will Smith?

"The transformation of the story from a first press report to a folkloric tale to a comic book and now to a film illustrates how the myth is transformed,” wrote Phil Patton in The New York Times around the time the first Men in Black movie was released in 1997. “That process is not unlike the children's game of 'telephone' or what the literary critic Harold Bloom calls 'innovation by misinterpretation.' "

Sticking with the telephone analogy, the first call was made to Kenneth Arnold, a pilot who had his own alleged UFO sighting on June 24, 1947 near Mt. Rainier, Washington. Though it happened three days after the Maury Island incident, it was the first widely reported sighting and it “touched off the saucer sensation,” as was written in a 1949 government report on “Flying Saucers.”

The report states that Dahl and Crimson reached out to a Chicago magazine in an attempt to sell their story, and the magazine editor then contacted Arnold, hoping he could help verify their account. Arnold then “summoned two officers of Army A-2 Intelligence to aid in the investigation of Dahl and Crisman's claim,” according to the report.

In July 1947, two Army A-2 Intelligence officers came to investigate. After leaving in their B-25 the next day, the plane caught fire and crashed, killing both officers and doing nothing to quiet UFO conspiracists.

But the Maury Island story gained little notice in the UFO community until Barker’s 1956 book, in which he wrote of his “file on the Maury Island case” that largely consisted of the writings by Ray Palmer, the Chicago magazine editor referred to in the government’s report. Barker went on to connect the dots between “the man, who wore a black suit” who took Dahl to breakfast and three similarly dressed men who allegedly visited a young UFO enthusiast named Albert K. Bender in 1953.

It was Bender who “almost single-handedly ushered in the plague of the Men in Black—just as Arnold inaugurated the era of the UFO,” Ufologist Nick Redfern wrote in his book The Real Men in Black. But it was Barker’s book that told Bender’s story, thus introducing the concept of the MIB to a much wider audience.

“It still has an important legacy,” said Robert Sheaffer, a UFO researcher. “Before its publication, nobody outside a very narrow group of subscribers to flying-saucer newsletters had ever heard of Bender, or his MIB.”

Barker described Bender’s visitors as: “Three men in black suits with threatening expressions on their faces. Three men who walk in on you and make certain demands. Three men who know that you know what the saucers really are!”

Bender, in his own 1962 book Flying Saucers and the Three Men, described the MIB in much more frightening language.

“They floated about a foot off the floor… They looked like clergymen, but wore hats similar to Homburg style. The faces were not clearly discernible, for the hats partly hid and shaded them… The eyes of all three figures suddenly lit up like flashlight bulbs… They seemed to burn into my very soul as the pains above my eyes became almost unbearable,” wrote Bender.

Barker would go on to write several more books related to the paranormal and UFOs, including 1970’s The Silver Bridge, which helped spread the story of another popular paranormal figure, the creature known as Mothman. But how much of his writing was done in good faith has been called into question by many in the UFO-research community.

“Barker made it clear to me that he did not take the MIB or Mothman very seriously,” says Sheaffer, who corresponded with Barker on occasion. “However, he believed that there was still 'something mysterious' about the whole UFO and paranormal thing.”

Regardless of Barker’s motives, countless MIB encounters have been reported since They Knew Too Much was published nearly 60 years ago, and at least one more movie is on the way.

The history of the top-secret Dulce Base – an underground base in New Mexico reported to be home of alien research facility.

Residents from Dulce, New Mexico will attest that the Archuleta Mesa in New Mexico has seen its share of bizarre events. Dulce, a border town near the Colorado-New Mexico border, is remote, largely unpopulated (Dulce has a population of only around 3,000 people), and is the tribal headquarters of the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. According to several reports, it is the home of the top-secret Dulce Base – a research and military facility operated jointly between humans and alien beings from another world.

Paul Bennewitz picks up strange radio signals

The rumors of a base in Dulce began in 1979. Paul Bennewitz, a local electrician with a doctorate in physics, was researching classified government programs at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Part of his researched involved construction and monitoring of sensitive radio equipment. It 1979, he began intercepting strange radio transmissions. From what he could tell, the communications were between government organizations and another party which he ultimately determined were not from this planet. The signals emanated from the mesa near Dulce.

Aliens in the area?

The story gained traction when a second report lent credence to the theory there were aliens in the area. New Mexico State Trooper Gabe Valdez had investigated several bizarre cases of mutilated cattle near the mesa. These weren’t your run-of-the-mill cattle mutilations. Valdez noted that he often found discarded gas masks and glow sticks at the scene. And in one instance, he found an unusual fetus inside one of the carcasses. According to Valdez, the fetus looked like a “cross between a human, a monkey, and a frog”. Experts in alien species drew the conclusion that the fetus was the discarded body of a nefarious reptiloid (aka Reptilian) alien body.

Phil Schneider comes forward

Soon after, 35-year-old Phil Schneider came forward with claims he had worked at the Dulce Base facility. Investigators determine Schneider did indeed have military contacts. He was the son of Oscar Schneider, a Captain in the United States Navy who worked in nuclear medicine and helped design the first nuclear submarine.

According to Schneider, he had been employed by Morrison-Knudsen on a project to drill four large holes that were joined together with tunnels. His job was to descend into the holes and study the rock composition in order to recommend further course of action. He was suspicious of the job from day one because of the unusual presence of military personnel – Green Berets and other special forces.

During the drilling, workers came across a large artificial cavern. The structure was huge and clearly manmade. As Schneider was marveling at the cavern, he suddenly found himself face-to-face with a seven-foot-tall gray alien. Schneider pulled a pistol he was carrying and shot the alien who fought back with an unknown weapon of its own. A gunfight broke out between more aliens and the military personnel. During the melee, 67 workers and military personnel were killed, Phillip Schneider being one of only three people that survived. Schneider claimed to have suffered injuries in the attack and showed scars on his chest to prove it. He claimed the unusually shaped injuries were from the alien’s weapon.

Schneider explains Dulce Base

Schneider says Dulce Base has seven levels tied together by a subway system. In fact, Schneider says the underground subway system extends all the way to Los Alamos National Laboratory.

He says the base is the center of a ground operation between the US and extraterrestrials. According to Schneider, thousands of aliens lived in the underground facility. They were allowed to experiment on humans in exchange for advanced alien technology.

Schneider began speaking out about the aliens, UFOs, and government coverups. Together with four other men, he started a publication called The Alien Digest. The publication became popular with the paranormal community and gained a wide circulation. In the publication, Schneider revealed that underground alien bases existed all around the world. Huge amounts of black budget money went towards building the bases.

The death of X

In 1993, one of the men behind The Alien Digest was found dead in a park in Portland, Oregon. He had been shot in the mouth. Schneider claimed his partner was murdered to shut them up. Police paid no attention to his claims.

For several years prior, Schneider had travelled throughout the country lecturing about government cover-ups, black budgets, and UFOs. Schneider always claimed he knew his life was in danger. Schneider’s body was found on January 17, 1996, three years after the death of his business partner. Doctors ruled the death a stroke. Oddly, the ruling was later changed to suicide. Investigators claimed Schneider had wrapped a rubber catheter hose three times around his neck and tied it with a knot.

Schneider’s claims are confirmed

Soon after Schneider’s untimely death, Thomas Costello came forward claiming to be a security guard for the base. Costello confirmed Schneider’s reports and added that horrific experiments were conducted at the base by both humans and aliens. Costello noted that the caves in the mesa had been occupied by reptoid aliens for centuries.

Costello’s claims ignited a media firestorm with publications across the country reporting his story. Oddly, after Costello’s appearance before the public, Schneider’s family suddenly burst into the scene. After years of silence, family members came forward with claims that Phil Schneider was insane. The media firestorm subsided, and the family grew silent again.

Other secret underground military bases

The top-secret Tonto National Forest military base

Researchers have found other instances of secret underground military bases. A FOI request revealed a strange report from the US Forest Service’s Southwestern Region office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was an odd call from a man claiming to have run across workers building an underground “alien base” near the Tonto National Forest outside Phoenix, Arizona. It noted that the following email was sent to all US Forest employees:

“David received a call this morning at the front desk from a male caller reporting the construction of a secret government installation upstream from the Salt River Canyon past Pinal Creek (Upstream from Roosevelt Lake). Caller claims to have seen construction cranes coming out the side of the cliffs, miniature stealth planes and UFOs, aliens and people working together at the site, aliens eating people. He found a severed head and claims to have pictures of some of this stuff. Caller reported that he is 60, not crazy and doesn’t do drugs. He said he had already called the ‘office at the lake’, but he didn’t know if those people were turning the other cheek or maybe those people have been paid off.”

Another similar report was found in the archives of a UFO investigative organization. The report had been submitted by Scott Heckman and spoke of a base in the national forest where scores of people were said to have “gone missing”. The report read:

“The most major base that I have been able to follow the craft towards is located in the Tonto National Forest. I discovered this while camping in the Sierra Ancha Wilderness. The UFOs kept flying down into the basin two minutes apart. They flew low, out of the southeast at about two thousand feet above the terrain. During the daytime A-10’s use the area for training. Re-fueling practice also occurs here both day and night. These areas have also been plagued with several unexplained disappearances that have occurred in Cochise County over the last 30 years. Cars are abandoned with people’s ID; money and keys left behind. Their occupants are mysteriously missing, never to be seen again.”

“THE DULCE BASE” by Jason Bishop III

The following is a bizarre report that made the rounds on the Internet forums in the early 2000’s. The author of the report claims to have inside knowledge of Dulce base operations.

This facility is a “GENETICS LAB” and is connected to Los Alamos, via a “Tube-Shuttle.” Part of their research is related to the General Effects of Radiation (Mutations and Human Genetics). Its research also includes other “Intelligent Species” (Alien Biological Life Form “Entities”).

In the revised September 1950 edition of “THE EFFECTS OF ATOMIC WEAPONS” prepared for and in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, under the direction of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, we read about how “complete Underground placement of Bases is desirable”. On page #381: “There are apparently no fundamental difficulties in construction and operating Underground various types of important Facilities. Such facilities may be placed in a suitable existing mine or a site may be excavated for the purpose”.

CAUGHT IN THE GAME

Centuries ago, Surface People (some say the Illuminati) entered into a pact with an “Alien Nation” (hidden within the Earth). The U.S. Government, in 1933, agreed to trade Animals and Humans in exchange for High Tech Knowledge, and allow them to use (undisturbed) UNDERGROUND BASES, in the Western USA. A Special Group was formed to deal with the Alien Beings. In the 1940’s, “Alien Life Forms (ALF)” began shifting their focus of operations, from Central and South America, to the USA.

The Continental Divide is vital to these “Entities”. Part of this has to do with Magnetics (Substrata Rock) and High Energy States (Plasma). WHOS PLANET IS THIS?

These Aliens consider themselves “Native Terrans”.

They are an Ancient Race (descendent from a Reptilian Humanoid Species which cross-bred with Sapient Humans). They are untrustworthy manipulative Mercenary Agents for another Extraterrestrial Culture (The DRACO) who are returning to Earth (their ancient “Outpost”) to use it as a staging area.

But, these Alien Cultures are in conflict over Who’s’ Agenda will be followed for this Planet. All the while Mental Control is being used to keep Humans “in place”, especially since the Forties.

The DULCE Complex is a Joint US Government / Alien Base. It was the first built with The Aliens (others are in Colorado, NV, AZ.

THE SECRET “ACTIVITY”

Paul Benowitz reports, about his study into the Dulce area, “Troops went in and out of there every summer, starting in ’47. The natives do recall that. They also built a road – right in front of the people of Dulce and trucks went in and out for a long period. That Road was later blocked and destroyed.. The signs on the trucks were ‘Smith’ Corp. out of Paragosa Springs, Colorado. No such corporation exists now – no record exists….. I believe the Base – at least the first one was being built then under the cover of a lumbering project…. problem – they NEVER hauled logs. Only BIG Equipment”.

R&D AND THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

THE RAND CORP. became involved and did a study, for the Base. Most of the lakes near Dulce were made, via Government grants ‘for’ the Indians.

NAVAJO DAM is the main source for conventional electrical power, with a second source in EL VADO (also, an entrance).

Note: If RAND is the mother of “THINK TANKS”, then the “FORD FOUNDATION” must be considered the father.

Rand secrecy is not confined to ‘Reports’, but on occasion extends to Conferences and Meetings. On page #645 of The PROJECT RAND, proceedings of the DEEP UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION SYMPOSIUM (March 1959) we read: “Just as airplanes, ships and automobiles have given man mastery of the surface of the Earth, Tunnel-Boring Machines… will give him access to the Subterranean World”.

Note: The Sept. 1983 issue of “OMNI” (pg#80) has a color drawing of “THE SUBTERRENE”, the Los Alamos nuclear-powered tunnel machine that burrows through the rock, deep underground, by heating whatever stone it encounters into molten rock (magma), which cools after the SUBTERRENE has moved on. These underground tubes are used by electro-magnetically powered “Subshuttle Vehicles”, which can travel at great speeds. They connect the “Hidden Empire” Sub-City Complexes. Also, the top-secret project code-named: “NOAH’s ARK”, uses “TUBE-SHUTTLES” in connection with a system of over 100 ‘Bunkers’ and ‘Bolt Holes’ which have been established at various places on Earth. With other Bases inside the Moon and Mars. Many of these underground Cities are complete with streets, sidewalks, lakes, small electric cars, apartments, offices and shopping malls.

There were over 650 attendees to the 1959 RAND Symposium. Most were representatives of the Corporate-Industrial State, like: THE GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, AT&T, HUGHES AIRCRAFT, NORTHROP CORP., SANDIA CORP., STANFORD RESEARCH INSTITUTE, WALSH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, THE BECHTEL CORP, COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES, ECT,ECT.

BECHTEL (pronounced BECK-tul) is a super secret international corporate octopus, founded in 1898. Some say the firm is really a “SHADOW GOVERNMENT” – a working arm of the CIA. It is the largest construction and engineering outfit, in the USA and the WORLD (and some say BEYOND).

The most important posts in the US Government are held by former BECHTEL Officers. They are part of “The WEB” (an interconnected control system) which links the Tri-Lateralist plans, the C.F.R. the Orders of “Illuminism” (Cult of the All-Seeing Eye) and other interlocking groups.

SURVIVING THE FUTURE

The DULCE FACILITY consists of a Central “HUB”, the Security Section, (also some photo labs). The deeper you go, the stronger the Security. This is a multi-leveled Complex. There are over 3000 cameras at various High-Security locations (exits and Labs).

There are over 100 Secret Exits near and around Dulce. Many around Archuleta Mesa, others to the south around Dulce Lake and even as far east as Lindrith.

Deep sections of the Complex connect into natural Cavern Systems.

A person who worked at the Base, who had an “ULTRA 7” Clearance, reports: “There may be more than seven levels, but I only know of seven. Most of the Aliens are on 5-6-7 Levels. Alien housing is Level Five.”

21st CENTURY POWER: “BIO-TECH”

We are leaving the Era of expendable resources, like Oil based products. The Power of the Future is Renewable resources… “Biologically” Engineered. The Dulce Genetic Research was originally funded under the cloak of “BLACK BUDGET” Secrecy. (Billions $$$$)

They were interested in intelligent “Disposable Biology” (Humanoids), to do the dangerous Atomic (Plutonium) Rocket and Saucer experiments.

We Cloned “our” own little Humanoids. Via a process perfected in the Bio-Genetic Research Center of the World, Los Alamos! Now we have our own disposable slave-race. Like the Alien “Greys” (EBES), the US Government clandestinely impregnated females, then removed the hybrid fetus, (after three months) and then accelerated their growth in the Lab. Biogenetic (DNA Manipulation) programming is then instilled – they are “Implanted” and controlled at a distance through RF (Radio Frequency) transmissions. Many Humans are also being “Implanted” with Brain Transceivers. These act as telepathic “Channels” and telemetric brain manipulation devices. The network-net was set-up by DARPA Advanced Research Project Agency). Two of the procedures were, RHIC (Radio-Hypnotic Intercerebral Control) and EDOM (Electronic Dissolution of Memory). The brain transceiver is inserted into the head thru the nose. These devices are used in the Soviet Union and the United Stated, as well as Sweden. The Swedish Prime Minister Palme gave the National Swedish Police Board the right (in 1973) to insert brain transmitters into the heads of human beings COVERTLY!

They also developed ELF and EM wave propagation equipment (RAYS) which affect the nerves and can cause nausea, fatigue, irritability, even death. This is essentially the same as Richard Shaver’s Cavern “Telaug” Mech. This research into biodynamic relationships within organisms (“BIOLOGICAL PLASMA”) has produced a RAY that can change the “genetic structure” and “HEAL”. Shaver’s Cavern “BEN-Mech” could HEAL!

As US Energy Secretary, John Herrington named the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and New Mexico’s Los Alamos National Laboratory to house new advanced genetic research centers as part of a Project to decipher the Human Genome. The Genome holds the genetically coded instructions that guide the transformation of a single cell – a fertilized egg – into a Biological Being. “The Human Genome Project may well have the greatest direct impact on humanity of any scientific initiative before us today”, said David Shirley, Director of the Berkeley Laboratory.

Covertly, this research has been going on for years, at DULCE LABS. Level #6 is privately called “NIGHT-MARE HALL”, it holds the Genetic Labs. Reports from workers who have seen bizarre experimentation, are as follows: “I have seen multi-legged ‘humans’ that look like half-human / half-octopus. Also Reptilian-humans, and furry creatures that have hands like humans and cries like a baby, it mimics human words… also huge mixture of Lizard-humans in cages”. There are fish, seals, birds and mice that can barely be considered those species. There are several cages (and vats) of Winged-humanoids, grotesque Bat-like creatures…but 3 1/2 to 7 feet tall. Gargoyle-like beings and Draco-Reptoids.

Level #7 is worse, row after row of thousands of humans and human mixtures in cold storage. Here too are embryo storage vats of Humanoids in various stages of development.

“I frequently encountered humans in cages, usually dazed or drugged, but sometimes they cried and begged for help. We were told they were hopelessly insane and involved in high risk drug tests to cure insanity. We were told to never try to speak to them at all. At the beginning we believed that story. Finally, in 1978 a small group of workers discovered the truth. It began the Dulce Wars”. (and a secret resistance Unit was formed) Note: There are over 18,000 “Aliens” at the Dulce Base. In late 1979, there was a confrontation (over weapons), a lot of Scientists and Military personnel were KILLED. The Base was closed for a while…. But, it IS currently active. Note: Human and animal abductions (for their Blood and other parts) slowed in the mid-1980s, when the Livermore Berkeley Labs began production of artificial blood for Dulce.

William Cooper states: “A clash occurred where in 66 people, of our people, from the National Recon Group, the DELTA group, which is responsible for Security of all Alien connected Projects, were killed.” The DELTA Group (within Intelligence Support Activity) have been seen with badges which have a black Triangle on a red background. DELTA is the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet. It has the form of a triangle, and figures prominently in certain Masonic Signs.

*EACH BASE HAS ITS OWN SYMBOL. The DULCE Base symbol is a triangle with the Greek letter “Tau” (T) within it and then the symbol is inverted, so the triangle points down.

INSIDE THE DULCE BASE

Security Officers wear jumpsuits, with the Dulce Symbol on the front upper left side. The standard hand weapon, at Dulce is a “Flash Gun”, which is good against Humans and Aliens. The ID card (used in card slots, for the doors and elevators) has the Dulce Symbol above the ID photo. “Government Honchos” use cards with the Great Seal of the U.S. on it. “The Cult of the All-Seeing Eye” (THE NEW WORLD ORDER) 13, “666” The Phoenix Empire….”9″ “Illuminism”… “One out of many”.

After the Second Level, everyone is weighed, in the nude, then given a Uniform. “Visitors” are given an ‘off white’ uniform. In front of ALL sensitive areas are scales built under the doorway, by the door control. The persons card must match with the weight and code or the door won’t open. Any discrepancy in weight (any change over three pounds) will summon Security. No one is allowed to carry anything into or out of sensitive areas. All supplies are put thru a Security conveyor system. The Alien Symbol language appears a lot at the Facility.

During the construction of the Facility (which was done in stages, over many years) the Aliens assisted in the Design and Construction materials. Many of the things assembled by the workers, were of a Technology they could not understand, yet…it would function when fully put together. Example: The elevators have no cables. They are controlled magnetically. The Magnetic system is inside the walls.

There are no conventional electrical controls. All is controlled by advanced Magnetics. That includes a magnetically induced (phosphorescent ) Illumination System. There are no regular light bulbs. All EXITS are magnetically controlled. Note: it has been reported that, “If you place a large magnet on a entrance, it will affect an immediate interruption. They will have to come out and reset the system.”

THE TOWN OF DULCE

The area around Dulce has had a high number of reported Animal Mutilations. The Government and the Aliens used the animals for Environmental tests, Psychological Warfare on people, etc.. The Aliens also wanted large amounts of Blood for Genetic, Nutritional and other reasons.

In the book, “ETs & UFOs – THEY NEED US, WE DON’T NEED THEM” by Virgil “Posty” Armstrong, he reports how his friends (Bob & Sharon) stopped for the night in Dulce and went out to dinner. “They overheard some local residents openly and vociferously discussing Extraterrestrial Abduction of townspeople for purposes of experimentation.” The ET’s were taking unwilling human guinea pigs from the general populace of Dulce and Implanting Devices in their heads and bodies. The townspeople were frightened and angry but didn’t feel that they had any recourse since the ET’s had our Governments knowledge and approval.

Recently, participants in a “field investigation” of the area near Archuletta Mesa, were confronted by two small hovering ‘Spheres’. They all became suddenly ill and had to leave the area.

A woman named Jackie called on Coast to Coast AM, an American radio station, claiming she was the former NASA employee who managed to see humans on Mars in 1979. This statement sparked rumors of a “secret space program” that is kept hidden from the public.

Jackie vowed that 6 other NASA employees witnessed this event with her. When those people tried to tell everyone about what they had seen and tried to leave the room, they found out that the front door was locked and the paper was hung on the door window so that no one else could look into it or enter.

John Lear: Secret Missions To Moon & Mars

Former CIA pilot John Lear and former Lockheed L-1011 Captain also said that NASA astronauts flew to Mars in 1966. Moreover, Lear believes that astronauts had been preparing for this mission especially long. They introduced certain drugs into the body, allowing people to adapt to Martian climatic conditions. Allegedly, those astronauts could breathe rarefied Martian air, so NASA had the opportunity to launch humans on the red planet for a longer time.

For those who do not know, John Lear is the son of Bill Lear, who founded Lear Jet in 1962. So, there is no doubt that he would have sensitive information related to secret technology and extraterrestrial activities.

During his interview with Coast to Coast AM radio program, Lear had given statements that could be hard for anybody to digest. He said that in 1953, a UFO crashed with an extraterrestrial named EBE 3, who helped the US government to build spacecraft with alien technology. Then he said that in 1962, the craft with incredible speed was built that carry passengers and take to Moon in just 60 minutes. In 1966, NASA had a trip to Mars. What’s more, “humans there were adapted to breathe in the thin atmosphere.”

Lear said: “The population of Mars is around 600 million and they are exactly like us.”

He claimed that his father was involved in the anti-gravity technology programs which were highly secret. According to him, everything we know about Moon is a lie. In the 70s, NASA began destroying photographs taken by Apollo 8, 10, and 11, in which it was possible to see the cities, bases, pipes, roads, vegetation, lights, mining, and a nuclear reactor.

Apart from John Lear, there are other US officials who made similar statements. Philip J Corso, a former US Army officer said that Grey aliens, also referred to as Zeta Reticulans were not really aliens, but bio machines specially created to work on other planets. When Dr. Salvatore Cezar Pais, an aerospace engineer at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), filed a patent for a “Plasma Compression Fusion Device” in 2019, it was either a giant breakthrough – or mad science. According to the patent application, the miniature device could contain and sustain fusion reactions capable of generating power in the gigawatt (1 billion watts) to terawatt (1 trillion watts) range or more. A large coal plant or mid-size nuclear powered reactor by comparison produces energy in the 1–2 gigawatt range. The revolutionary invention by Dr. Pais, if real, would produce near unlimited clean energy from something no larger than a sports utility vehicle.

Dr. Pais’ fusion device is among a handful of outlandish technologies dubbed “The UFO patents” that have, in some shape or form, been pursued by the U.S. Navy.

I’ve written before with some skepticism on the implications of Dr. Pais’ purported compact fusion reactor for U.S. energy independence. The physicist appears to have bona fide credentials including a Ph.D. from Case Western, and published some of his work, while much is presumably classified.

He has been employed by the Pentagon for decades. And this isn’t the first patent filed in his name, and all of them appear centered around what he calls the Pais Effect. Dr. Pais posits that by controlling the accelerated spin or vibration of electrically charged matter, high energy electromagnetic fields can be produced.

One proposed use for such fields is an “electromagnetic field generator” device which could be applied to alter the trajectory of earthbound asteroids over a period of time. While the patent makes clear that such a device would work only on “small” asteroids of under roughly 100 meters length or less, it isn’t hard to grasp the interest of any defense agency in providing contingencies for such a scenario.

Dr. Pais’ “inertial mass reduction device” is one of his most extraordinary patents. This technology suggests manipulation of quantum field fluctuations which could reduce a vehicle’s inertial and gravitational mass, allowing it to travel at hitherto unseen speeds. The reason the speed of light is something of a universal speed limit is that mass increases to infinite as one reaches it, demanding infinite energy to continue moving. The ability to reduce mass could have incredible implications for the future of space travel. Only faster than light speeds of travel would allow the humanity to venture outside of the solar system.

His High Temperature Superconductor patent would, like a fusion device, revolutionize global energy systems. Superconductors have no electrical resistance, meaning electricity can be transferred without loss of energy to unlimited distances. That could mean quite a drop in energy costs, but getting any superconductor to operate even as warm as room temperature is a longstanding problem.

Last but not least is what Pais calls a high frequency gravitational wave generator. The patent purports that the electromagnetic fields created by the Pais Effect could be intersected, generating waves of gravity upon which a spaceship could propel itself to its destination. Such waves could also be used to deflect asteroids more efficiently or communicate through solid objects.

Any one of these “UFO” patents would transform modern science and society. It might be too early to break out the champagne, though. While Dr. Pais has spoken confidently about his work in the past, the Navy recently threw cold water on hopes of a breakthrough.

Queries about his experiments were met with confirmation that a three-year $508,000 assessment had found no proof of the Pais Effect. For now at least, the odds are good that the Navy may not lead the energy revolution, while President Joe Biden expends political capital squaring off against fossil fuel companies.

That brings us back to his fusion device. Even if Dr. Pais is wrong, it doesn’t mean fusion is going to stay the stuff of science fiction forever, though. The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, an initiative with roots stretching back to a November 1985 summit between Reagan and Gorbachev, is currently scheduled to generate its first “small star” in November 2025. Various projects are racing them there, all with that shared goal of 2025.

All this is to say that fusion might no longer be perpetually thirty years away.

With some tangible, well-funded projects underway, it raises the question of why the Navy has previously gone to bat for Dr. Pais — and his ideas, which seem considerably ahead of their time if not outright implausible. The other possibilities are worth pondering though.

Occam’s Razor would suggest there might be something there. A genuine breakthrough in theoretical physics so advanced would require serious and well-funded lab work and prototype experimentation for years or even decades. Think of the long journey from J.J. Thompson’s discovery of the electron (1897) and Rutherford’s atomic model (1911) to the Manhattan Project (1939-1946). There are defense applications to most physics breakthroughs, and that is plenty incentive to invest in any potential Enrico Fermi, Niels Bohr, Albert Einstein, or Andrey Sakharov. The patents could be a sort of hedging, ensuring the United States can claim it was there first.

A second explanation is that is a U.S. disinformation operation to entice our adversaries into spending billions of dollars on dead-end research. That was more or less the initial thinking behind President Reagan’s “Star Wars” initiative. By faking data, the officials behind the program hoped to entice the Soviets to burn billions for a then-non-viable space-based missile defense system. Sending China on a wild goose chase for the Pais Effect would be a clever use of half a million dollars. Otherwise, his research would be deeply classified and not patented.

Lastly, and most out there, Dr. Pais’ patents could be a cover for alien technology. If the recent disclosure by the Pentagon of possible encounters with extraterrestrial artifacts is true, such technology may be in the U.S. Government’s possession. Talk about a low probability, high impact event!

I am not sure if we will see Faster Than Light space travel any time soon, but with or without Dr. Salvatore Cezar Pais, the race for fusion power is on, and we are likely to see a successful result within our lifetime.

One of the most gruesome, sinister, and completely intriguing of phenomena connected to the phenomenon of UFOs is that of the dark world of cattle mutilations. By some accounts, for some reason, it seems that whatever is behind these strange lights in the sky also has a liking for targeting various livestock for some impromptu surgery and mutilation, often ending up with carcasses that show a variety of strange features such as almost selectively missing organs, strangely precise cuts, a lack of deterioration, and no rotting stench pervading the area. It has been an ongoing phenomenon occurring all over the United States, and one strange spate of such incidents happened only very recently in the U.S. state of Oregon.

Strange cases of cattle mutilations in the state of Oregon have been going on for some time, since back in the 1980s, when ranchers in the area began reporting cattle that had been mysteriously killed and drained completely of blood and sometimes with udders missing and displaying no scavenger activity. This all slipped under the radar at the time, but in 2019 there began a wave of such cattle killings that have left ranchers and law enforcement officials reeling and looking for answers. In the summer of 2019, a remote ranch in rural Oregon called Silvies Valley Ranch me with some rather inexplicable events. Over that summer, five young prize purebred bulls mysteriously began showing up dead all over the place. The corpses were found to be drained of blood, with the tongues and genitals removed with surgical precision, and there was no indication as to what had actually killed them. These were huge, powerful animals, yet there was no sign of a struggle and it seemed as if there were no bullet holes or dart marks. Strangely, there were found no signs of damage caused by buzzards, coyotes or other scavengers, and it was soon found that just two years before there had been a cow that had similarly showed up dead and bloodless on the nearby ranch of a Andie Davies, in New Princeton, Oregon. It was completely perplexing, as these were all strong, healthy bulls, and one livestock extension agent for Oregon State University Extension Service by the name of Scott Duggan would say of it:

I’d be a liar if I didn’t say it had us all pretty stumped. Our first thought was poisonous plants. Lupine was really prevalent this spring… but killing a bull is no small feat. I believe that someone killed the bulls. Death of healthy cattle on rangelands is normally due to one of three situations. These are: 1. Naturally occurring causes such as poisonous plants and unfortunate circumstances/accidents such as drowning, lightning, etc.; 2. Predation (wolves, cougars, bears, etc.) and; 3. Humans killing for fun, rituals, food, etc. The time of year that the bulls were killed, and the locations of the animals where they died would make it highly unlikely that this was due to poisonous plants. Also, it does not appear to be predation, based on the condition of the bulls. This leaves human causes as the most likely explanation in my opinion. It’s got to be some group doing some strange ritual. Human activity certainly seems possible. It is absolutely the strangest thing ever. How somebody put these bulls on the ground at what would be arguably a fairly close range — and to do it in a way that didn’t leave any signs, no trace evidence, no footprints, no struggle marks from the animal, no broken limbs — I have no idea.

That same year, another central Oregon ranch near Hampton, Oregon, owned by a Stephen Roth, had a similar predicament, when five of his own cattle turned up dead and mutilated in the same way, all found within 1.5 miles of each other and with no tracks found around any of the carcasses. It was alarming enough that ranch hands were armed and told to travel in pairs, but as to who or what had killed these massive animals, no one knew. The Roths manage about 87,000 acres of holding around 1,000 head of cattle, but none of them had ever seen anything like this. In one case a cow was found with the heart, tongue, udder, vagina and anus being cut from it, in every case with expert, surgical precision. In none of the cases was the cause of death determined, with no signs of dart punctures, no bullets, no strangulation marks, no rope burns, no tire tracks, no signs of poison. A friend of the Roths and expert tracker, Gary Bishop, would go to the site of the killings and say of the state of the corpses:

It’s obvious an animal didn’t do it. I think whomever is responsible relies on the fact that we are so rural that they can’t get the animal to a vet for a forensic exam fast enough. When an animal is killed hunting, usually you gut it right on site so you can move it. You can see that disturbance on the ground. The person that’s doing this is getting away with this, but is very efficient at it. They’ve been doing it a long time or they are in a trade that they know how to skin an animal. To be able to cut through skin and hide without getting into the belly, takes a lot of skill and precision. It kind of creeped me out. I definitely think it was someone, a pretty sick person. It wasn’t an animal. No animal can cut skin around a belly like that.

There were some other creepy details as well, such as one ranch hand allegedly getting severely ill after touching one of the carcasses, something no one else had done. The mutilations continued into 2020, when a cow was found by rancher Fee Stubblefield near Ukiah in Umatilla County, with its tongue, glands and sex organs cleanly cut off and a piece of its ear placed on its neck. At no point was there any evidence of blood at all, and the whole thing seemed to have been drained dry. None of this is good news, not only because it is creepy, but some of these cattle are worth big money. What was doing this here in Oregon and in other places? Was this people spiting the ranchers? Was it cultists or even aliens, as have been suggested? One Dan Jenkins, a deputy with the Harney County Sheriff’s Office, has said of the various takes on the phenomena:

A lot of people lean toward the aliens. One caller had told us to look for basically a depression under the carcass. ‘Cause he said that the alien ships will kinda beam the cow up and do whatever they are going to do with it. Then they just drop them from a great height. Another person told us we should run like a Geiger counter type thing around the animal and guarantees that there would be radiation there. And the number one on the list there, he thinks it’s the North Vietnamese army.

It is hard to know what to make of such cases, or why they should happen in a wave in this one area. The questions we are left with are largely the same we are given with any strange cattle mutilation case. What is behind this? How could someone so decisively take down a cow or a bull and then drain its blood and surgically remove certain organs? Why would they do such a thing and who is it to begin with? Is this pranksters, aliens, or as skeptics have suggested just an anomalous combination of the natural decomposition process mixed with the work of scavengers? No one really seems to know for sure, but we do know one thing, and that is that the phenomenon of cattle mutilations has continued on to stoke the imagination and inspire debate.

UK’s Area 51: The Mystery Of Rudloe Manor

Many in the British UFO research community believe that alien saucers in the possession of the British Government may have been kept at Rudloe Manor, a Royal Air Force (RAF) station located northeast of Bath, between the towns of Box and Corsham, Wiltshire, United Kingdom.

The historian Rupert Matthews wrote about the rumours linking the base with UFOs:

“By the later 1990s the rumours had begun to take a more definite form. According to these reports, there was a vast underground complex beneath the apparently innocuous barracks and office buildings scattered in the grounds of the old manor house.

“This much could be checked out and was accurate. The manor had been taken over by the RAF at the start of World War II precisely because these huge underground caverns existed. They were the abandoned workings from which the much prized Bath Stone had been quarried out in the 19th Century.

At the end of 1994, Matthew Williams and Paul Damon visited the Rudloe Manor to investigate the truth about the manor and UFO connection. When they arrive there, the guard asked them what they were doing and they explained that they were UFO researchers who interested with the manor.

Then, Matthew and Paul asked if there is an “Underground Town” existed beneath the manor? The guard stated that there was only a quarry at Rudloe site 2 and no more.

Paul said that he watched a TV Program called “Schofields Quest” and from there he got information about “Underground Town”, if it were only a quarry then it would be no problem and not represent any threat to national security to let the “Schofields Quest” cameras in for a look. The guard stated that the tv crew were misguided and he try to convince them once again that there was nothing at site 2 but a quarry.

A few minutes later, a white van came out of nowhere and parked itself in blocking position in front of Matthew’s car. The van’s door opened and 2 soldiers with semi automatic machine guns emerged. The 3rd person who was the driver of the van came out, he was dressed in cammo gear and he appeared to be a sergeant.

They were questioned by the sergeant about their activities around the manor, and they did their best to answer and provide as much information as they could with their knowledge about the base. However he did not satisfied with their explanation, and asked their proper ID.

Just before he left to make his checks he made the following disturbing statement,

“I am going to check your details. Do not get out of your car whilst I am gone, do you understand?”

“Yes, no problem”, said Matthew and Paul.

“Do not attempt to drive away in the vehicle whilst I am gone, do you understand?”

“We won’t go anywhere.”

“Because if you do try to get out of the vehicle OR try to drive away you WILL BE TAKEN OUT OF CIRCULATION!”

Matthew and Paul were shocked with his warning. Whilst the Sergeant was away at the guardhouse one of the soldiers standing guard paced near their car and they got his attention in order to have a talk. He told them that they had got the whole base on full alert and there was a real stir.

Matthew and Paul said that they were sorry but they could not see that they had done anything wrong. They asked him questions about UFO’s – had he seen any, did he know what went on at Rudloe. He said, “Well who knows what they get up to, but I am not allowed to say anything anyhow.”

When the sergeant returned he said that their details had checked out but he was not happy with both of them being there. He told them that they were not allowed to take photos as it was prohibited. Matthew disagreed and stated that there were no anti photography signs posted so there was no restriction.

He argued that there were signs posted and that Matthew had not seen them. He also said that the base commanders would not give such permission and that if they came back to this base in the future to take photos they would be blocked!

After the incident, Matthew said, “If they are this interested in security of the base then it is obvious that they are hiding something “good” there.

According to Nick Redfern, a British author also ufologist and cryptozoologist who has investigated the Rudloe Manor-UFO connection: ‘The whole Rudloe-UFO saga has been a puzzle in itself.

There’s no doubt that the RAF’s Provost & Security Services – who were based at Rudloe for two decades – have played a role in official UFO investigations. There are even a few declassified files available at the National Archive, Kew. But the big question is the extent, or otherwise, of those investigations

Some researchers have suggested – and particularly Matthew Williams in the mid-to-late 90s – that Rudloe’s role went far beyond that officially admitted by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Others merely see it as a minor aspect of official UFO investigations that got blown up out of proportion by the UFO research community.’

UK’s Area 51: The Mystery Of Rudloe Manor

Many in the British UFO research community believe that alien saucers in the possession of the British Government may have been kept at Rudloe Manor, a Royal Air Force (RAF) station located northeast of Bath, between the towns of Box and Corsham, Wiltshire, United Kingdom.

The Manor was built on top of quarries from which Bath Stone had been extracted, in the 1930s some of the tunnels were converted for use as a Central Ammunition Depot. The vast caverns had some 2,250,000 square feet of space, divided into many smaller chambers.

It was in February 1975 that remote-viewer Ingo Swann was contacted, out of the blue, by what he personally described as a certain highly-placed figure in Washington, D.C. It was someone who guardedly advised Swann that he, Swann, would soon be receiving a telephone call from a “Mr. Axelrod.” Swann’s source quietly advised him that while he could not offer much at that time by way of a meaningful explanation, Swann should be keenly aware that the call would concern a matter of great urgency and importance. A somewhat concerned Swann waited…and waited…and waited. Finally, around four weeks later, a call arrived, and Swann was asked to make a cloak-and-dagger rendezvous, only mere hours later, at the National Museum of Natural History within the Smithsonian.

Despite the somewhat fraught, last-minute nature of the conversation, Swann unhesitatingly agreed, and quickly – albeit with a degree of concern and trepidation – made his careful way to the meeting-place, where he was greeted by a man who Swann said looked like a Marine. Although basic formalities were exchanged, Swann was hardly clear on what was afoot: he was driven by car to a second location, where nothing less than a helicopter was waiting to take him to a destination unknown. Such was the security and secrecy surrounding the journey Swann was blindfolded for the approximately thirty-minute flight. In other words, the experience was rapidly becoming one of near-007-like proportions.

On landing, Swann was taken to an elevator that descended for a significant period of time – perhaps into the bowels of some secret, underground installation, Swann thought, and probably with a high degree of logical justification. With the blindfold finally removed, Swann gathered his bearings, and was then introduced to the enigmatic Mr. Axelrod, who admitted this was not his real name, but suggested to Swann it was an identity that served the particular purposes of the meeting. Axelrod wasted no time and got straight to the point, asking Swann a great deal of questions about the nature of remote-viewing. Axelrod also made it clear that he wished to make use of Swann’s skills – on what was clearly a secret operation – for a significant sum of money. It truly was one of those offers that one cannot refuse. And Swann, most assuredly, did not refuse it.

Axelrod asked Swann, pointedly, what he knew about our Moon. Now, finally, the purpose of the strange meeting was becoming much clearer. Someone within officialdom was secretly looking to have the Moon remote-viewed – which is precisely what Swann went ahead and did. By Swann’s own admission, he was utterly floored by what he found: during an initial targeting, his mind focused in on sensational imagery of what looked to be a huge tower, similar in size to the Secretariat Building at the United Nations, but one that soared upwards from the Moon’s surface. This was no human-made structure, Swann was told: it was the work of nothing less than mysterious extraterrestrials. In follow-up remote-viewing sessions, Swann was able to perceive on the surface of the Moon a wealth of domed structures, advanced machinery, additional tall towers, large cross-like structures, curious tubular constructions across the landscape, and even evidence of what looked like extensive mining operations. Someone, or something, had secretly constructed nothing less than a Moon-base.

Intriguingly, Swann was also able to focus his mind on what appeared to be a group of people – that appeared very human – housed in some sort of enclosure on the Moon, that were busily burrowing into the side of a cliff. The only oddity: they were all utterly naked. Rather ominously, and very quickly, at that point Axelrod terminated the experiment, amid dark and disturbing allusions to the possibility that the Moon-based entities were possibly acutely aware they were being spied upon via the means of astral-travel. It was even implied that Swann’s very actions might now place him in grave danger, if the beings decided to turn the tables and pay him a visit of a deadly, cosmic kind – which, very fortunately for Swann, they did not.

Now, we come to the end of the story. In many respects, it’s more thought-provoking than the story of Swann. Axelrod inquired of Swann if he knew of a man named George Leonard. Swann replied that, no, he was not familiar with the name. It transpired that during that very same time-frame that the shadowy Axelrod was employing Swann to seek out the mysteries of the Moon, Leonard – an author – was hard at work, toiling on a manuscript titled Somebody Else is on the Moon. In 1977, Leonard’s manuscript appeared in book form, and, to a significant degree, focused its attention upon the very matter about which Axelrod was so deeply troubled: namely, unusual, intelligently-designed structures, or installations, on the Moon. Leonard’s publisher said:

“Few people noticed the secret codewords used by our astronauts to describe the moon. Until now, few knew about the strange moving lights they reported. George H. Leonard, former NASA scientist, fought through the official veil of secrecy and studied thousands of NASA photographs, spoke candidly with dozens of NASA officials, and listened to hours and hours of astronauts’ tapes. Here, Leonard presents the stunning and inescapable evidence discovered during his in-depth investigation: Immense mechanical rigs, some over a mile long, working the lunar surface. Strange geometric ground markings and symbols. Lunar constructions several times higher than anything built on Earth. Vehicles, tracks, towers, pipes, conduits, and conveyor belts running in and across moon craters. Somebody else is indeed on the Moon, and engaged in activities on a massive scale. Our space agencies, and many of the world’s top scientists, have known for years that there is intelligent life on the moon.”

The odd, near-Deep Throat-like meetings between Swann and Axelrod – on the nature of what was afoot on the Moon – continued until 1977, after which time they came to an abrupt end, with Swann, unsurprisingly, left scratching his head about the distinctly odd sequence of events. No doubt, Leonard was mystified, too.

International scientists meet to discuss Element 115, claimed as key to anti-gravity decades ago

Moscovium, the heavy and radioactive Element 115, used to be referred to as Ununpentium years ago until 2016. There was no official name years ago after Russian scientists in Dubna created it for the first (recorded) time around 2004. Its official name comes from “Moscow.” But this element was mentioned long before this by a man named Bob Lazar in 1989. Lazar is the famous whistleblower who claims he worked at Area 51, and that the element was the fuel for alien spaceships acquired by the U.S. government.

When Lazar made the claims, the scientific community considered it absurd, but then the absurdity disappeared utterly later.

It took ten years for the discovery to be confirmed by two different labs, and it was by a team in Sweden in 2013. The researchers fired rare and expensive calcium atom isotopes at an unstable, radioactive element called americium in a large vacuum chamber. The result, a “million-dollar” atom that rapidly decayed, with a half-life of only 220 milliseconds. The effort was only possible because of international contributions.

“Making Moscovium has been a fantastic piece of international collaboration because although the experiments were done in Russia, they relied on having samples of americium, which were made in America,” explained Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff at the University of Nottingham.

In 2014, Lazar appeared with investigative journalist, George Knapp to discuss the news about the ‘discovery’ of ununpentium. Although the atom appeared to be too unstable to be useful, he claimed that soon, a new isotope of the element would prove much more stable. He passed several polygraph tests to confirm the authenticity of his claims.

“They made just a few atoms. We’ll see what other isotopes they come up with. One of them, or more, will be stable, and it will have the exact properties that I said,” Lazar told Knapp.

In 2019, Bob Lazar and documentary filmmaker Jeremy Corbell appeared together on Larry King to discuss Element 115. They claim that not only is the “super heavy” element the key to space travel, but unfortunately, they fear it can be weaponized in the wrong hands.

“Element 115 is a super heavy element. It’s something we’ve only just recently synthesized. We only made four atoms of it. But the craft uses larger quantities of it, 23-gram little triangles of it,” said Lazar.

“It’s a unique element. When it’s exposed to radiation, it produces its own gravitational field – its own antigravitational field,” he clarified, “…and it’s what’s used to lift and propel the craft and create distortions around it.”

“It’s an amazing material, and it’s certainly nothing that appears here naturally,” he continued.

“And it can be weaponized, and that’s kind of the issue here,” interjected Corbell.

If Moscovium is indeed something to be feared, it’s interesting to note that today, a team of international scientists is meeting to discuss its potential future research. (As well as the potential of other new heavy elements made in a similar way) The TAN conference is part of a celebration for the 150th anniversary of the Periodic Table.

According to a news release on August 26, 2019, the professor who discovered Moscovium is present at the conference. Topics include discussing unresolved research, including “whether heavier elements can have longer lifetimes again.”

“Professor Yuri Oganessian is also on site. He is an element discoverer from Russia and currently the only living person an element is named after: element 118, Oganesson. He was head of the discovery team of Elements 114 to 118 (flerovium, moscovium, livermorium, tennessine and oganesson) at the Flerov Laboratory of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, JINR in Dubna, Russia.”

There are currently 118 elements listed in the periodic table. Only 92 of them occur naturally on Earth.

Back in the day, the United States and the Soviet Union both had their eyes to the sky. Space was seen as the last frontier for the Cold War they had long been waging, and they constantly sought to one-up each other. Space was a potential battle ground not just for trying to gain an upper hand, but also as a stage on which they could flex and pose for the world stage, constantly trying to show who was best. It was in this climate of competition and trying to master the domain of space that the Soviets would build a tactical armed space station, and become the first, and so far only, nation to actually fire a space cannon.

There was a time when the Soviets were winning the space race. Initially they came out of the gate strong, with many decisive victories. The launching of the Sputnik on October 4, 1957 was the first manmade object placed in space, followed by putting the first living animal in space in the form of a dog named Laika, and then there was the Soviet unmanned space probe Luna II, which on September 14, 1959 became the first manmade object to land on the moon. They followed this up on April 12, 1961, when Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was launched into orbit for 108 minutes, becoming the first human being in space. At this time the Soviet Union were showing that space was their domain, which made the United States very nervous indeed. At the time space was being increasingly seen as sort of the battlefield of the future, with all manner of potential uses for reconnaissance satellites or even proposed orbital weapons. The early Soviet early dominance of space was alarming and unacceptable for the Americans, not only militarily but also ideologically, as it showed that communism was winning, so they did what they were good at and started throwing tons of money at their space programs.

Laika, the first Earth creature to go to space

Flush with cash from its newfound industrial and economic surge in the wake of World War II, the United States doubled their efforts in the space race, and it paid massive dividends. In quick succession they launched their own satellite, put astronaut Alan Shepard into space, and then performed their coup de grace on July 20, 1969, by landing astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon. In short order The United States had upped the ante and clawed ahead of the Soviets to leave them reeling. The U.S. now had the upper hand, and the thought of American satellites circling the globe unchecked terrified the Soviets, only made worse when the U.S. began preparations for a manned space station called the American Manned Orbital Laboratory (MOL) program. This just wouldn’t do, so they began a space station program of their own.

The Orbital Piloted Station (OPS), code-named Almaz, meaning “Diamond,” was a top-secret program launched in 1964 and carried out by the Soviets to put their own manned space station into orbit for the purpose of military reconnaissance. To this end it was to be fitted with cutting edge spy equipment, cameras and radar, and it was designed to be able to be resupplied while in orbit. It was to be the first of several planned military space stations, and money was poured into it. All of this was very hush hush, of course, hidden behind the façade that it was to be a part of the civilian space station program called Salyut. They didn’t want the Americans getting wind that they were planning on putting a military apace station in orbit, but they had to be sure their investment stayed safe. At the time, both sides were very concerned with anti-satellite and space station weapons, paranoid that anything put up into space was liable to be shot down or straight out stolen, so the Soviets made sure that one aspect of the Almaz was developed, and that meant they wanted to mount a big space cannon on it.

In order to arm their fancy space station, the Soviets designed the R-23M Kartech, basically a modified version of the Rikhter R-23, which was a 23mm, fully automatic tail gun designed for the Tupolev Tu-22 Blinder supersonic bomber. The new modified cannon weighed 37 pounds and could supposedly fire up between 950 to 5,000 rounds per minute, that could hit targets with accuracy up to two miles away. It was designed to be mounted on the forward belly of the Almaz station, but firing the weapon was the tricky part. As the cannon was to be mounted in a fixed position, actually aiming it would require the entire space station to be moved into a firing position. Another problem was that thrusters would be needed to counterbalance the recoil of the weapon, as every shot fired would potentially push the space station out of orbit, a big problem in the weightless vacuum of space. Nevertheless, the Soviets went ahead with arming their space station.

Between 1973 and 1976, the Soviets would launch three crewed military reconnaissance stations with the Almaz program, which were disguised under the civilian Salyut program and launched under the names Salyut 2, Salyut 3 and Salyut 5. While the Salyut 2 failed shortly after achieving orbit, the Salyut 3 and 5 were successfully tested, and the Salyut 3 managed to be a historic first when it actually test fired its space cannon in orbit. The test occurred on January 24, 1975, and although the cannon had been tested on land, since no one had ever fired it in space no one was really sure how the weapon was going to affect the station. For this reason, the test was scheduled for shortly before the Salyut 3 was to deorbit and long after the crew had left. The station was at the time being remotely operated, and when the weapon was fired thrusters were used to counteract the recoil. According to reports, approximately 20 rounds in one to three controlled blasts, all of which purportedly burned up in orbit, although the exact results have remained classified. To this day, the Almaz program represents the only armed and crewed military spacecraft ever flown, a rather interesting and somewhat unsettling milestone.

At the time of this space cannon test, the U.S. had no idea that any of this was going on. They of course knew about the Salyut 3, but at the time they were unaware that it was a military spacecraft and certainly knew nothing about the fact that it was armed or that the Soviets planned to actually test the weapon. In fact, it was not until long after the Cold War had ended and the end of the Soviet Union, that the information on the test firing would get out with the Russian Defense Ministry finally revealing it on the Russian military show Voennaya Priemka. However, the test results are still classified, the footage from the experiment was destroyed on reentry, and there is only one known photo of the actual cannon used aboard the Salyut 3.

Although we don’t know the exact results of the test firing, it must have been successful enough for the Soviets to see space-based weapons as viable, as they planned for future space stations to be armed with interceptor missiles. However, in the end the Almaz program never really caught on. Manned space stations were increasingly seen as to cost-inefficient, and the military lost interest, instead focusing on automated satellites for reconnaissance purposes. The Almaz program was grounded and absorbed into the civilian Salyut program, but much of it still remains classified. This was the first, and as of yet as far as we know the last time anyone tried to fire weapons from space, but make no mistake the interest is still there, and who knows how many secret programs there might be. Although there are many laws now in place to keep this sort of thing from happening, there will likely always be those who see space as a potential battleground, and now you know that the Soviets took the first step with their clandestine operation.

Today’s article is on the subject of some of the weirdest government projects that span more than a few decades. I’m going to focus on the United States and the United Kingdom. I’ll begin with the U.K. and reveal some of its strange secrets. And tomorrow I’ll focus on the U.S. In the heart of North Wales, U.K., there exists a body of water called Lake Bala. You may say, well, there’s nothing particularly strange about that. You would be correct. Lake Bala is not out of the ordinary, in the slightest. But what is rumored to dwell in its dark depths most assuredly is out of the ordinary. It’s the domain of a violent lake monster called Teggie. Or, is the story born out of secret, military experiments? It all very much depends on who you ask and who you believe. There are longstanding rumors in and around the Bala area that in the build-up to the First World War, the British Royal Navy clandestinely let loose a group of seals into the lake. The reason: to strap them with dynamite and train them to attacks specific targets, namely warships.

It should be noted that the dynamite was not real and the “warships” were just small rowing boats. In other words, the project was a test-run, in the event that the Royal Navy might find itself at war with Germany (which it did in 1914, when the First World War broke out), and suicidal seals, strapped with explosives, might be required to fight for their country.  So the story goes, the seals proved impossible to train, and the project was abandoned. And, so today, what people are seeing today are brief glimpses of the original seals that bred and bred and so on. Of course, it’s very possible this is nothing more than a tall tale, passed on through the generations and without any actual facts to support it. Thus, the legend of Teggie continues to thrive. Now, onto the matter of Aleister Crowley.

Aleister Crowley, the “Great Beast” who died in 1947, was the subject of sensitive files that are said to have been destroyed, but which may not have been. In this case, the records were said to have originated with MI5, which is the U.K.’s equivalent of the FBI. Richard B. Spence, of the International Spy Museum, has done his utmost to try and unravel the connections between Crowley and the intelligence community. Spence says of Crowley: “He was such a disreputable and even evil character in the public mind that arguably no responsible official would think of employing him. But the very fact that he seemed such an improbable spy was perhaps the best recommendation for using him.” Another theory is that during the Second World War, British Intelligence planned on using the world of the occult to try and prevent the Nazis from invading the U.K.

It was thanks to Spence that in 2003 something extraordinary happened. That was the year in which Spence found not a file on Crowley per se, but a file on another topic, but which referenced Crowley’s MI5 file. The claim that there had not been an MI5 file on Crowley, now had no merit. Caught in an awkward situation, MI5 went back on its previous stance and claimed that, yes, there had been a Crowley file, after all. But, it had been destroyed back in the 1950s. Spence dug deeper and found further references to Crowley-based files. They, too, had been destroyed, claimed MI5. W. Adam Mandelbaum, who worked for U.S. Intelligence, said that: “Given the political fallout that would have resulted from making this involvement public, it should be no surprise that there is a paucity of documentation concerning Crowley’s intelligence efforts.” Now, let’s look at a similar situation but a different person.

There are rumors that secret files exist within the U.K.’s MI5 – which is the British equivalent of the United States’ FBI – on “Britain’s Most Famous Witch.” Her name was Sybil Leek, who was rumored to have undertaken work of a very weird kind to help defeat the Nazis during the Second World War. I have tried to secure such files, but with no luck. But, there’s a chance they exist. The BBC says: “One of the most incredible claims about her is that she was recruited by the British Government during the Second World War. According to the Second World War author Michael Salazar, her role was to provide phony horoscopes for the Germans who believed in Astrology. She apparently wrote a chart which convinced the Nazi Rudolf Hess to fly to England, where he was captured.” Maybe, one day, we’ll know for sure the truth of this weird affair.

Today’s article is the second part of a two-part story on strange, secret programs. The first feature was on the secret files and projects of the U.K. Now, I’m focusing on the United States. We’ll begin with the field of Remote-Viewing. The whole RV phenomenon is well-known. But, how about a certain operation that the late RV expert, Pat Price, got into during the 1970s? In his 1997 book Remote Viewers, Jim Schnabel told the story of the U.S. Intelligence community’s involvement in the controversial issue of psychic spying that largely began in the early-to-mid 1970s. Commenting on the skills of a talented remote-viewer in relation to matters of a UFO nature, one Pat Price, Schnabel noted Price was of the opinion that “…Alaska’s Mount Hayes, the jewel of a glacial range northeast of Anchorage, housed one of the aliens’ largest bases.” According to Pat Price, the aliens that lived deep inside Mount Hayes were very human looking, differing only in their heart, lungs, blood, and eyes. Ominously, he added that the aliens use “thought transfer for motor control of us.” Price added: “The site has also been responsible for strange activity and malfunction of U.S. and Soviet space objects.”

Now, onto a completely different issue: dowsing. In 1978, staff at the Foreign Technology Division (FTD) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio prepared an extensive document titled Paraphysics R&D – Warsaw Pact [R&D referring to Research and Development]. Page twenty-three of the document details positive results of both U.S. and Soviet research in the field of dowsing. Notably, a copy of the entire FTD document was sent to the CIA’s Office of Science and Technology (OSI) shortly after its publication.

How about the FBI’s file on Spontaneous Human Combustion? That was a subject that the Bureau studied for a long time. It’s a little-known fact, however, that midway through the 20th century the FBI got involved in the controversy of SHC. The unfortunate person whose fiery death caught the attention of the FBI was Mary Hardy Reeser, a then-sixty-seven-year-old woman from St. Petersburg, Florida. It was some time on the night of July 1, 1951 when Reeser took her last breaths. Reeser’s son Richard (who was a physician), his daughter Nancy, and the landlady, Patsy Carpenter, were hanging out with Reeser in her room. Around 9:00 p.m. they all left. Their last image was of Reeser reclining in her chair and smoking a cigarette. It wasn’t until the next morning that it became clear something terrible had occurred overnight. As fate would have it, on the morning in question Carpenter received a telegram for Reeser and took it to her room. There was no response to Carpenter’s knock on the door. So, Carpenter turned the doorknob. She screamed and jumped back. The doorknob was red hot.

Carpenter quickly caught the attention of a couple of house-painters, who raced over and forced open the door. All three were hit by a blast of scalding hot air. The scene in front of them was like something out of a horror-movie. The chair in which Mary Hardy Reeser had been reclining was severely burned. Ashes were everywhere. Teeth and bones could be seen on what was left of the chair. And then there was the matter of Reeser’s head: it was shrunken significantly and burned almost raw. Undamaged was Reeser’s left ankle, as well as her left foot and left shoe. Those remains aside, she was pretty much gone. The FBI’s file on SHC, however, still exists.

Then, there’s the Collins Elite, a think-tank-type group that believes the UFO phenomenon is demonic in nature, rather than having extraterrestrial origins. I pursued them a great from 2007 onward and they were a sinister and strange bunch. Today, the Collins Elite still exists – despite the widespread denials of the U.S. Government that it has ever existed. And, in the 21^st Century, the group is a definitive secret society. Entrance to the group is strictly limited to those that move effortlessly between the domains of the Pentagon and the Trilateral Commission, the Department of Defense and fringe archaeologists, the Pope, and those well-versed in the black arts. As the Collins Elite sees it, the group is at the forefront of a worldwide, secret war to prevent a full-scale demonic invasion, worldwide martial-law, Armageddon, the rise of the Anti-Christ, and a planet and its people plunged into a literal, hellish nightmare. Time may tell if the theories of this secret network are valid or not.

In 1952 the U.S. Army secretly looked into the matter of teaching dogs to search for deadly landmines on battlefields. The strangest aspect of the program was that it would explore the feasibility of the dogs using extra-sensory perception (ESP) to find the landmines! The Army contracted Dr. Joseph Banks Rhine, PhD, to come on-board. The operation progressed quickly. According to the documentation – which has been released under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act – two dogs in particular, named Tessie and Binnie, scored very well. Rhine also suggested to the Army that pigeons might be good candidates for certain, tricky operations of the military and espionage type. The official records contain Rhine’s own words on this intriguing issue. He said: “The mystery of pigeon-homing and the possibility that extrasensory perception enters into that performance led us to undertake the solution of the problem of how these pigeons find their way home. At the termination of the contract the problem had not been solved.”

Rhine added, however, that regarding the matter of pigeon-homing: “…researchers have ruled out all existing sensory hypotheses, thereby making extrasensory perception a more plausible interpretation than it has been hitherto. This research has opened up possibilities of importance not only within but far beyond the scope of the projects specifically dealt with. The problems raised on this project involve basic research that may remain in the category of the inapplicable for many years. Measured against this is the enormous value, not only to intelligence but to application in a wide range of military uses of extrasensory perception.”

Anonymous is the most famous ‘hacktivist’ group in the world. The informal nature of the group makes its mechanics difficult to define. Subsequently, without a formal organizational hierarchy, it’s difficult to explain Anonymous to the general public and the media. In this article, I’ll explain the history of the group, and offer some clarity on what’s misunderstood about them.

‘Hacktivist’ is a portmanteau of ‘hacker’ and ‘activist’. When people have technical skills, have access to the Internet, and understand how network infrastructure and servers work, it can be tempting to put that knowledge into having some effect on the world. The ‘activist’ part of ‘hacktivist’ means that they don’t do their hacking and cracking without a cause.

The various people behind Anonymous worldwide are united in the belief that corporations and organizations they consider to be corrupt should be attacked. If you’re an administrator for a network that has little reason to be a target for social activists, your network and servers are unlikely to become a target for Anonymous.

If for some reason you believe your network might become a target, I recommend testing it for handling DDoS attacks, as that’s the most common method Anonymous uses to bring down web servers.
