LA GRANDE BRETAGNE NE CROIT PLUS AUX OVNIS

Comme pratiquement chaque année au mois de Juin, on entend, depuis 2009 année ou le bureau « ovni » du ministère de la défense Britannique a déclaré ne plus s’occuper du dossier ovni, le même « chanson » au sujet de la position Britannique sur les Ovnis.

Il s’agit de dépêches d’agences, reprises sans chercher plus loin par de nombreux médias, et évoquant la position officielle de la Grande Bretagne sur le dossier ovni. Elle a fermé son bureau en déclarant entre autre :

- Que l’étude pratiquée par leurs bureaux n’ont pas obtenue de preuve quant à la provenance extraterrestre des Ovnis.

- Que les « ovnis » n’ont pas démontré être une menace militaire pour la sécurité de la Grande Bretagne.

Lorsqu’on sait comment était étudié ce dossier en Grande Bretagne, une simple ligne téléphonique à la disposition du public, pas d’enquêtes véritables sur les observations et aucune approche globale scientifique de ce phénomène, on comprendra aisément que ces conclusions ne peuvent satisfaire un certain pourcentage du public, curieux et qui continue à se poser des questions. Mettre la recrudescence des observations uniquement sur le dos des « lanternes thaïlandaises » est facile, mais cela ne résout pas le pourcentage minime des cas que personne ne parvient à résoudre.

De nombreux ufologues en Grande Bretagne contestent ces conclusions et les méthodes employées qui n’ont rien de scientifique et qui sont loin d’être au niveau de ce qui se fait en France, au sein du GEIPAN entre autre, organe officiel qui dépends du CNES et qui est donc une représentation sérieuse de la pensée dans ce domaine, de notre pays.

Hors le GEIPAN, en France, est loin de penser comme l’armée de l’air Britannique, il se penche sérieusement sur le dossier et procède à un examen de plusieurs centaines de cas chaque année. Suivant l’importance, ils font l’objet d’enquêtes approfondies et sont sérieusement classés. Un certain nombre de cas, restent « non identifiés » et c’est bien là le souci. Il n’y aurait qu’un seul cas, non identifié, que ce dossier mériterait d’être étudié.

Il semble évident que si d’éventuelles civilisations extraterrestres nous rendent visite, ce n’est pas quotidiennement. D’où la rareté des cas intéressants, ceux-là qui justement nous obligent à une certaine prudence.

Il est trop facile dans un dossier aussi sensible, de conclure comme l’a fait la Grande Bretagne. À l’évidence, il n’est pas prouvé que ces « OVNI s » viennent d’un autre monde, mais là à dire qu’ils ne sont pas une menace pour la sécurité d’un pays, il y a là une marge. Ce n’est pas lorsque la catastrophe arrivera, qu’il faudra réagir. La surveillance et l’étude de ce dossier est donc une nécessité pour chaque grande nation. Il est bien connu que les différentes tactiques militaires ne sont pas de « présenter » à l’avance un plan de bataille, mais de le préparer minutieusement et secrètement. Nous ne connaissons pas l’origine de ce phénomène, nous ne parvenons pas à capturer l’un de ces engins, bien que des avions militaires aient été envoyé dans leur direction. Ils sont observés par nos radars. Le phénomène est bien présent et comme depuis des décennies nous ne le comprenons pas, il est bien évidemment plus facile de nier son existence ou les risques qu’il peut faire courir à notre planète. Mais en aucun cas cela ne résout le dossier, les « ovnis » sont bien toujours présents et nous ne savons pas quels risques réels ils nous font courir.

La poursuite de l’étude de ce dossier est donc utile et un certain nombre de pays l’ont bien compris, puisque qu’ils ont créé des organismes civils ou militaires pour en suivre son évolution.

I personally became interested in UFOs when London Control ordered me to intercept one over England while flying for the US Air Force and Prince Phillip told me of his personal interest in UFOs. The US Air Force investigated UFOs for more than twenty years under Project Blue Book; and I continue this advanced research. I believe the God of the universe has spread life throughout the cosmos and UFO’s are visiting us in ever-increasing numbers.

You Are Way out Here

Scientists claim our Earth is 4 billion years old, and the Universe is 14 billion years old. Earth is just a youngster and humans have only been here around a million years.

Our sun is far out on the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. The other civilizations that developed nearer the center of our Galaxy are much older than ours. They show the ability to get here, change time and distance, go through walls and into the ground, use nanotechnology and the ability to transport people.

We are traveling through the area of the arm where asteroids and other space debris is most common as shown in the lower left Side View of our Galaxy.

Fuzzy, Blurry UFO Pictures

Photographers who are lucky enough to capture UFO images question why they fuzzy or blurry images of UFOs. Sometimes a plane or bird in the same image will be crisp and clear, but the UFO is blurry. NASA Engineer and Scientist Paul Hill wrote “Unconventional Flying Objects, a Scientific Analysis,” that explains why most of images will be blurry or fuzzy UFOs and he explains why. (ISBN 1-57174-027-9)  Working at Langley Air Force Base he had his own UFO sighting in the 1950s and became NASA’s expert. He states on Pages 65-66.

“When a hovering UFO starts to maneuver, it necessarily increases thrust (lift) and power. In such a circumstance, the UFO is generally observed to brighten rather than change color....

causing the brightness is an integral part of the power system. On the other hand, the observed atmospheric colors are a by-product of the power plant radiation quite dependent on the properties of the atmosphere.”

The Fuzzy or Invisible UFO Outline

The quantum mechanical explanation for the indistinct or invisible outline of the UFO at night is particularly straight forward. In excited molecules, the downward drop of the electron through various energy levels is a reversible process. When two molecules each an electron in an unstable upper energy level u, that drop to a lower level 1, they each give off a photon with an energy equal to the difference in the energy levels u and 1…. 

After the thoroughly excited molecules and electrons explanation, he states.

“At night when the witness must see the UFO by its own light, it follows if the plasma is fully developed (saturated with ions) the plasma can completely obscure the UFO, for the critical distance is small. In the more general case where the UFO is operating at a lower radiation the witness can see the UFO surface directly ahead, looking normal to the surface with the least amount of plasma… The light reflected from the surface reaches his eye. But when he looks for the outline, he must look obliquely through a greater thickness or plasma. This is why the witness says, “I’m sure the object is solid, but I could not see the shape.”If the UFO radiation dies down the entire UFO becomes visible because the plasma thickness becomes less than critical.

 The absorption characteristics of the plasma can also account for a daytime hazy or smoky appearance of the atmosphere around the UFO.”

UFOs use propulsion and engine mechanics are apparently completely different than we have and those propulsion and drive methods do, at times, affect their surroundings. UFO technologies have apparently been developed to cancel inertia and gravity, including mass.

Simply put the UFO propulsion system can cause fuzzy photos. Let’s assume the UFO is hovering and only minimally effecting the atmosphere around it.

UFOs have plasma around the like ball lightning. If the UFO radiation dies down as the witness watches, the entire UFO becomes visible because the actual plasma thickness becomes less than critical.

We must understand that these alien travelers and their vehicles are far beyond what our best science -- and maybe even our best science fiction minds-- now understand. We should look very closely at these blurred photos and determine what is happening to the atmosphere around them, they may prove we are looking at a genuine UFO.

UFO Media Matters

To get better pictures of UFO, use your camera to take moving objects like birds or aircraft. 

Keep your lens clean prior to every shoot, keep batteries charged, and stabilize the camera on a tripod. If there is no tripod, then set it on top of a stable, flat surface attempt to support the camera with arms on fence, post, or car. Try not shoot into the sun. If possible block the sun with a tree, post, roof or even your hand to prevent lens flares. A little of the sun’s corona is alright. Try to set the scene at distance with an overall shot before zooming in.

You can leave the corona, but no arc of the Sun in view whatsoever. Then we'll see what you get and NO ONE will be able to argue "Lens Flares".

Provide visual reference points for comparison. This includes the horizon, treetops, lampposts, houses, and geographical landmarks. Provide this in the video whenever is appropriate and doesn’t detract from what your focus is, the UFO. Narrate size, shape, and colors of what you’re seeing.

Generally, the photographer has less than a minute to bring his camera to bear and shoot the picture while the craft is maneuvering. The average photographer is using a cell phone camera

 of poor quality that does not have the capability to capture clear images of moving or rotating objects. Zooming often results in the object being an indistinct group of pixels. The objects are usually fast moving and far away. Often the craft are clearly seen to be rotating which may also cause them to appear blurry. Frankly we are lucky to get any quality photos at all. Many of our best photos are from people who have expensive cameras and frequently use their equipment, happen to see UFOs and are prepared to capture them.

When quality photos are sent we have a tendency to question its authenticity. I think every picture is important and as the cameras improve the images will improve. We all know some images are doctored and some are birds or other flying objects. Still other UFOs are tracked on radar, chased by military aircraft, and captured on good quality cameras.

The Threat

David M. Jacobs, Ph.D. wrote his excellent book  “The Threat. The Secret Agenda: What the Aliens Want, and How They Plan To Get It.”

David Jacobs feels there is a viable alien threat and eventually the aliens are going to take over Earth.  Jacobs hasn't figured out exactly when or how the aliens will carry out their final plan. He thinks the aliens plan is to replace us with alien-human hybrids. He and is research colleague the late Budd Hopkins believe the aliens take sperm and eggs form their abductees and give birth to hybrids who will eventually control the Earth.

Jacobs recently was on the Coast to Coast Radio show with George Noory discussing his more than a thousand hypnotic regressions with abductees.

He states, “I have tried to be as objective and as agenda free as possible. I have no New Age, spiritual, religious, transformational, or transcendent program to promote. I try to stay as close to the evidence as I can. However, there is no possibility that I have avoided error. The majority of evidence for the alien abduction phenomenon is from human memory derived from hypnosis administered by amateurs. It is difficult to imagine a weaker form of evidence. But it is evidence and we have a great deal of it. Still people must be skeptical of what I say and of what all others say in this tangled arena of alien abductions, hypnosis, popular culture, and memory.

Families are usually abducted for generations.  They decide who they wish to deduct. They use abductions against our will.

Jacob’s has interviewed over a thousand abductees with the premise we can learn exactly what the alien abductors do, if we carefully examine everything abductees tell us under hypnosis. Our list of proven alien traits can only include things we've heard independently from more than one abductee.  Jacobs says abductions don't have to be mysterious, even many UFO researchers do not accept them as reality.

He claims, Aliens are not from here, although they may have been here for hundreds if not thousands of years, we don’t know where they are coming from. They decide who they wish to abduct. They use abductions and do things against our will, but most abductees only remember bits and pieces of the abduction.

Dr. Jacob’s feels abductions are real and has figured out what's going on. In his earlier book, “Secret Life” we learned that the aliens use humans to breed hybrids.  Now, with more information, Jacobs tells us that breeding hybrids is the center of the alien plan, and that the aliens have now bred several generations of them. They plan, he feels is to replace humans with these hybrids, and this is going to happen soon, maybe within a few years, but certainly within a generation or two. 

Dr. Jacobs is doing something brave and necessary. Let’s assume David Jacobs and Budd Hopkins are right and that abductions are a reality. The abductions seem deliberately magical and difficult for us to comprehend since many abductees are taken from a few months of age to old age. There are thousands of people who claim they have been abducted and often their parents and even grandparents have similar claims.

Dr. Jacob’s is a professor at Temple University in Philadelphia and once taught my daughter Elizabeth. Later I visited some of his abductee meetings with dozens of attractive, well educated people.

We need to understand what they are trying to do, their motivation and their future plans. When the aliens mate with humans, the result is that the hybrids often look like humans and appear to be entering our civilization.

We can speculate the aliens or their planet is in some kind of life ending trouble. They may be in physical decline and unable to reproduce or wish to upgrade their species. They may need to mate with us for immunity to overcome the disease bacteria and viruses on Earth.  Perhaps they are afraid of our warlike tendencies and desire to pacify us before we travel into space. They could be colonizing us to spread their empire. We assume they have the technology to destroy us if that is their plan.

To get here from other planets or dimensions they must have an advanced science and technology. Even the illegal immigrant situation allows large numbers of aliens to be accepted in our society and provide cover for them. The Federal Government seems intent on stopping the states from identifying many of the immigrants or possible hybrids hiding among the population.

I know David and the late Budd Hopkins, and they are honestly very concerned about the abductions and the threat to the future of the human race. I hope the government knows what is going on, but most government leaders even deny the existence of UFOs.

Obviously alien technology is greatly advanced compared to ours. They have the ability to go thru walls, communicate telepathically, and to travel in space. Jacobs claims the aliens implant women not just with fetuses, but with extrauterine gestational units that hold the baby inside the woman. Jacobs, says the aliens may be unable to have offspring themselves and they need us to reproduce and continue their species.

Greg Sandown comments, “The latest hybrids are becoming very human in appearance and are being taught how to live among us.  This, says Jacobs, is because the aliens first breed hybrids, then breed us with the hybrids, creating successive generations that look more and more like us.”

He thinks this explains all reports of humans seen in abductions, from the fabled "Nordics" (late-generation hybrids, he says, are often blonde) to Leah Haley-style accounts of military personnel working with the aliens, or staging abductions on their own (they're simply hybrids wearing uniforms). The hybrids, being partly human, have human emotions. They get bored on the aliens' ships, doing the aliens' work. One of them, speaking to an abductee, unhappily compared himself to a robot. Some of them tattle on the aliens, revealing formerly secret details to abductees.

Sometimes the hybrids fall in love with their human partners, or, as they put it, with their "projects." Sometimes, though, they grow unstable (as even an alien once supposedly admitted), and then they get abusive. The result, Jacobs says, is frustration, sexual and otherwise. The Threat has lurid passages about male hybrid abuse of female abductees, strongly X-rated stuff, involving rape and beatings.  Sometimes the hybrids are given a few hours to wander here on earth, where they meet their "projects" for impromptu abduction dates, and ask questions about things they see humans doing. The abductors who come are either small aliens who do the grunt work and big ones who supervise.

But above the tall aliens are insect-like alien commanders, who wear robes and give the final orders. When the aliens take over earth, the hierarchy will run like this: insectoids, then grays, then hybrids, next abductees, and humans. There is also the threat that those who conduct criminal activities will be removed. Many people will be kept in special preserves as breeding stock. He implies that many humans will be killed; the hybrids are telling the abductees the future is not very pleasant.

Dr. Jacobs feels most non-abductees are going to be killed or otherwise removed from the scene, unless these preserves encompass most of the planet. Jacobs doesn't clarify this rather crucial detail. Jacobs, by the way, doesn't rule out alien benevolence. He's willing to concede that the alien plan might be in our best interest, although he doesn't see any evidence that would make this happen. Expect Disasters

NASA administrator Charles Bolden, just last week spoke at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration  (NOAA) acknowledging that space weather events (such as solar flares, coronal mass ejections, coronal holes, filaments, gamma ray bursts, and galactic cosmic rays can be as devastating to the planet and can be as destructive as other natural disasters.”

This is a great step forward demonstrating a new awareness highlighting a direct causal effect between charged particles generated from various sources and their role on celestial orbs such as planets, comets, and asteroids. This conference showed great interest in bringing together diverse scientific researchers to further identify how our galaxy Milky Way and our Sun produce far reaching consequences right here on Earth.

“I would say the Sun-Earth connection does indeed follow the Mitch Battros “Equation”. When charged particles hit the magnetic field, the field is disturbed and I would think it will affect the jet stream. New findings suggest a series of current events are weakening the Earth's magnetic field. The liquid outer core is the mantle; a solid rock composition which can be moldable due to the intense heat and high pressure. At the boundary between Earth's core and mantle at a depth of 1,802 miles, there is an intense heat exchange. 

One ongoing process is the shifting of tectonic plates - especially at subduction zones such as Sumatra, Cascadia, and Puerto Rico. This sinking of tectonic plates (Earth's crust) cools the mantle, which in-turn, speeds up the process of "convection” (the transfer of heat by the circulation or movement). Simultaneously, super-heated liquid rocks from the Earth's outer core form large bubbles called 'mantle plumes' which rise into the mantle. Earthquakes and volcanoes are likely. Space Station Photo

Scott McMan writes, “This photo was taken by French Engineer Jean-Pierre Haigneré aboard the MIR Space Station and is being shopped as either some sort of UFO or more simply a water droplet.

On February 20 1999, Jean-Pierre Haigneré was the first non-Russian to be launched as Soyuz on-board engineer to the Russian MIR Space Station on a mission called Perseus.

Although no official statement has ever been released concerning the mystery object It has been suggested by some, that the anomaly is nothing more than a reflection of a water droplet from inside the Mir. Quote Youtube’s StephenHannardADGUK:

Filer Research Institute claims tornadoes can be defeated by cloud seeding designed to stop or limiting tornadoes by inserting chemicals or dry ice into the bottom of the cloud where warm air enters the cloud.

UFO Sightings in the United States

Arkansas Red Light

Mayflower -- While doing some cat fishing from my dock on Lake Conway on June 13, 2013, I was in the process of setting one of my poles down on the dock. I was watching my line to make sure it was tight. That’s when the horizon caught my view. Looking south over the lake, I saw a very thin profile of something in the air. It had a steady burning red light in front and a pulsating red light in rear. It was very low. And ungodly long.

I lived by airbase in Jacksonville for almost my whole life. I’ve seen every kind of plane they have. I have never seen anything this long and slender. Not sure what it actually is. Just thought I should tell someone. But that reminds me. Maybe an hour earlier there was a phantom wave. No boats in the area but had really big wake against my dock. Not had an experience like that since I was very young in Pascagoula MS. Thanks to MUFON CMS

California Orange Orb

 Oakland -- This is the 2nd of 2, silent UFOs that passed over our house in, CA last night around 11 PM, June 8, 2013. The picture was taken as it was almost out of view. About 30 seconds earlier, when it was closer, it appeared in a low altitude cloud as a bright orange light with a pear or flame shaped halo around it.

 NEW CASTLE -- "It was this morning when the storm rolled in about 9:15 PM, on June 13, 2013. I took a bunch of pictures and I never noticed it. I posted it on Weather boy because they said post pictures of the storm near you. Then I went back to look at the pictures and Danielle said what’s up with the UFO. Then I saw there was a bunch of people that shared it on UFO sites. So I looked closer and Instagram.com version I posted makes it much clearer but I posted this one to prove it wasn’t the filter." Florida Shiny Cloud

 MIAMI -- On Friday, May 24th, 2013 around 8:30 PM, my boyfriend and I witnessed what seemed to be an unidentified flying object. When I first saw the UFO, it looked like a really shiny cloud or as if the moon was right behind the cloud just shining on it. I have never in my life seen a shiny cloud with a saucer shape so I started looking around the clear night sky and saw that the moon was on the opposite side. Since it was a full moon I thought maybe the cloud was bright because of the reflection, but the light coming from the moon was an orange color and the cloud was like a white LED light. Chicago -- I first noticed the object catch my eye and almost blind me for a second or two at 3:44 PM on 14 June 2013. I turned and watched it go from Northwest to Southwest over southwest suburbs outside of.

I thought for sure it was plane at first, it seemed to change shape, and lights flickered as if it were helicopter or plane but it seemed way too low to be flying over my neighborhood. I got a real good look at it when it was about 3 blocks from me.

It had short stubs on the side of object and glided through the air very easy. I thought it was a missile, then someone flying a remote controlled plane but as it got closer I seen it have no wings and looked like a missile and submarine into one. I am sure something can be explained but couldn’t seat more than 4 people from what I saw. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Kansas Orb

Galena -- I was outside on my front deck looking west about 10 pm central time. On June 1, 2013, immediately I noticed these strange objects in the sky to the west. At first they appeared a mile or so away, really hard to tell but they looked like dim white stars glowing and then they would move at quick speeds and stop, then disappear then some would reappear and make patterns and then disappear again. After a few minutes I had my wife come outside, she saw them, gave me a funny looked and walked back inside. I kept watching for several minutes, all of a sudden one flew from the west straight to the south, several miles, within a split second.

I really thought they were birds until I saw that happen. I texted several people and my sister and brother in law showed up. We all observed this event for an hour or 2. About 12ish they left and I went to bed. The very next night it happened again, but since then nothing. I tried recording with my Galaxy s3, but you cannot make them out, too dim. Hopefully with your equipment you can somehow see them, you can see me pan right and left trying to capture when they appear. Note you will see streetlights and the red light is a cell phone tower. I only looked at one video once, once I uploaded on my pc. You can also see stars flickering; these are not the objects of course. Again they appear and move then disappear within a 2 second period. Maine Moon

Standish -- I was just outside with my camera. I was taking pictures of the moon. I didn’t see the unidentified object last July 26, 2012 at the time. Later I was reviewing my pictures and noticed the anomaly, from my position, just to the bottom right of the moon. I am not sure what this is but would like to know. I originally sent the images to the national MUFON but have heard nothing. I am submitting all the shots I have. It is the same picture I just enlarged it. Thanks to MUFON CMS

New Hampshire Fiery Object

Hudson -- I watched the fiery object glide silently through the sky on June 17, 2013.At first I thought it was one of those candle kite things you can light that fly until I seen move above the trees towards me and noticed it was allot bigger than that and had a diamond shape inside the fire. I went got the camera but it was full so I had to use the crappy cell phone camera which took a few crappy pictures. I am very disappointed in myself. Thanks to MUFON CMS

New Jersey Craft Leaving the Water

Vernon – Tim writes, "There is Canister Reservoir on Canister Road, where sightings of craft leaving the water and entering the airline flight path and then speeding off into space are being observed. The craft have a large pyramid shape with rough dark black outer surface.

I watched the fiery objects glide silently through the sky. At first I thought it was one of those candle kite things you can light that fly until I seen move above the trees towards me and noticed it was allot bigger than that and had a diamond shape inside the fire.

There are several gray Ford F-150 trucks with blacked out windows and no license plates, parking alongside the Reservoir road to watch. This seems to be an underwater base or parking for the craft in a location very close to Picatinny Arsenal.

I hope that you look into this I feel it may be a large part of what you’re looking for.

North Dakota

Dickinson -- I had to pick up my son at the Quality Inn here in town on June 12, 2013. We were standing facing south in the parking lot talking to a friend. I noticed movement by my friend that I thought were birds but noticed they were spherical in shape. There was one larger sphere in the center surrounded by 6 or 7 smaller spheres flying in formation.

I asked my son and our friend what they thought it was. My son jokingly said it was a UFO.

During the next ten seconds the smaller spheres all moved away from the larger one staying in the same formation they were in previously and returned to the exact positions. Five seconds later it just disappeared. I also saw a UFO in Colorado about three years ago. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Ray --My friend and I were out in a farmer’s field with our packs getting ready to climb Mt. Borah on June 14, 2013. My friend noticed four round bluish white orbs next to the unusually large moon. They started to move in a circular formation keeping the original diamond pattern.

They slowly formed a line and headed north making drastic zigzag patterns towards us until they were right on top of us and almost slowed to a stop. I was fumbling with my phone to video all this but my phone was frozen and unresponsive, so I removed the battery from my phone. After removing my battery the balls of light left slowly but one broke off and disappeared. We watched the three disappear in the sky and decided to continue on our light jog.

After we made another mile there was a bright light flashing in the trees the size of a flashlight. We shined our light on it and saw a three foot figure. We turned off our lights and the flashing started again in a different spot six different times. We decided to turn back and head home and we crossed four tree lines and in every tree line a small entity with a glazing a light. We finally made it to the last tree line and we stopped to look back to see a small light still flashing at us.

Then all of a sudden there was a bright strobbing light that rose above the tree line and followed us to the highway. We were very frightened and moved at a fast pace to the highway where the object stopped close to the highway and kept strobbing. It was a very bright blue/white light and we decided to keep moving to our camper. The light disappeared but showed again causing us to freak out.

All of this took around two hours from the beginning of the sighting to the time we got back to our camper. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Oregon Lights

PORTLAND -- I was facing the window that has a great view on June 13, 2013, and I saw eight lights evenly spaced all moving at the same speed. All the light moved together and all followed together like attached to something very big. They were really far away over Portland but quiet and hidden behind the clouds but the lights shined through the clouds.

I have a view of Portland Airport as a jet took off that looked like a bug next to these huge lights.

They seemed to be going five miles an hour in groups of eight and the one at the end was alone.  It was slowly moving mostly east. I drew this image of the lights and airplane. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Pennsylvania Lights

 Easton -- I was in my backyard with my son and a friend of mine on June 8, 2013. I looked up and almost directly above us in the southern sky, there were five bright-red, circular objects just hovering in a circular pattern for about two minutes. Then one by one they started to fly upwards to the southeast.  I ran inside as the second object started to fly off to get my dad so he could see what was in the sky. When I came back outside object three of the five was ascending towards the southeast flying in the same direction as the first two. My dad instantly started to take pictures and video.

More of these bright red objects rose up one after from behind the treeline flying east.

A fourth bigger and brighter object rose up from the same spot as the last three and headed towards us. It got about to us and hovered and then followed the others. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Texas Triangle

EL PASO -- Three distinct white shapes in the distance looked triangular on May 25, 2013.
I snapped a few shots at an amusement park but did not see anything in the sky at that time.

It was only later when reviewing the pictures that I noticed the objects.

Wisconsin Orb

 Grantsburg -- I drove up my driveway on June 6, 2013, and saw objects three orange lights. I went inside for my camera and taped the first three lights that soon disappeared. Two minutes later, two reddish orange lights appeared that turned and hovered in unison. Then the object moved to the exact same place as the first three lights had disappeared and they also appeared to accelerate into a point and disappear. Six witnesses saw the incident. Quilmes -- All year we have been having sightings, and capturing them with our camera. They are dark or light spheres, and flying objects like these observed on June 3, 2013.

Australia Orange Orbs

BERWICK -- I was standing in my backyard having a cigarette, on June 14, 2013, and saw what I thought was a lantern crossing the sky above the roof tops in my suburb gaining altitude and flying at some speed. I thought nothing of it. I walked to the other side of my garden and it appeared in the distance over my roof line travelling in a northwards direction gaining altitude and speed away from me and into the darkened clouds then disappearing. I wasn’t sure at the time what it was. At 10.15 pm I saw a bright orange orb followed by two more orange orbs following in a similar direction a 30 - 60 seconds between each sighting.

The last orb was brighter and closer and followed the first two. They were too bright to be lanterns and disappeared from view within a minute. Also there was hardly any wind. Hopefully, others in Melbourne will report it. This sighting has happened at night, the only feature I could see was the bright orange orbs. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Canada Lights

Whitby -- While walking one of the dogs in our Local Park on June 3, 2013, and facing southwest I noticed the emergence of a bright white light at 10:23 PM. It moved extremely slow and turned north. It appeared a few hundred away and about 2000- 5000 feet. Immediately, I grabbed my camera and took and few still shots and a one minute video clip. It then faded out and I was again in disbelief I picked up the dog leash and moved on wondering? In a minute another one came across directly from the west heading east. It moved with a slight jerkiness as again I filmed another two short video clips. Realizing the video did no justice what the eyes were witnessing. After losing sight of it after three minutes I walked south along the creek.

Again a couple minutes later, I now see a third slow-low bright white light heading north towards me from Lake Ontario. It moved slowly and just faded out and appeared to climb to a much higher altitude. You could now just barely see it blending in with the stars above around 10:43 pm.

I confided my sighting to a friend who said he and his wife had witnessed this type of aerial anomaly and filmed it quite successfully. Here is now a newly released footage on June 3, 2013. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx72JcYK1SM&feature=youtu.be

France Egg UFO

Puget-Theniers -- I had lunch with my family on June 2, 2013, when we saw a huge halo around the sun. The sky was gray, but around the halo, the sky was a perfect blue. And the halo was a perfect circle around the sun! In front of this spectacle, I took my camera and took two photos; one at 12h54 pm, and the second at 12h55 pm. At first, I have not seen the thing with my bare eyes. But when I look the photography, I can SEE this thing but I don't know what it is, but seems like an UFO. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Italy Yellow Ball

verona -- The bright yellow ball appeared to the north at sunset, then after about half a minute it has shifted eastward on June 11, 2013. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Romania 8 Objects

Oradea -- About 8 dots were moving close but changing distances from one to another on May 31, 2013. They flew to our right and the first one ascended straight up with the others following. South Africa Light

Randburg -- At about 1900 hours (7 PM) on June 14, 2013, I saw the first light. I unlocked the doors and got my phone to take a picture. It was moving quite fast and it diminished in size rather quickly. Not long after that a second one appeared. They moved rather fast. On some photos the bright light looks like a line. UK Discs

London -- While with a tour group I took many digital photos and videos of the most common tourist attractions on May 9, 2013.  It was not until I got home and started working with the material on my computer that I discovered I had several unusual objects in some of the photos that could be UFO’s.

I also have a brief video of a UFO flying over the Tower Bridge. I wish I had realized it was there so that I would have continued taking the video.

UFO Video From Space Shuttle Discussed By Astronaut, Tom Jones | VIDEO

     Astronaut Tom Jones was on board the Space Shuttle during STS-80 in 1996. On this flight purported UFOs were caught on camera. YouTuber Shepherd Johnson recently asked Jones his thoughts on the UFO video, which has since become an internet sensation.

Jones is well aware of the controversial online video and has commented on it in his blog. Shepherd makes note of that when he asked Jones about his thoughts on the UFO video in question. Jones told Shepherd:

On every mission you see lots of debris that is released from the shuttle’s payload bay, or frozen propellant from the main engines or the thrusters that drifts along with you, in some cases for several days after you arrive in orbit. And so that little cloud of particles gets captured by the low light TV cameras on the space shuttle that are used by the ground controllers at night, and when those wind up on video, and if you don’t know the context for when those pictures were taken, those little particles might seem to you like distant stars or moving objects in space. The video I have seen in STS-80 is just that. It’s the low light TV camera capturing those ice particles in the very near field, only 10 or 20 feet away, and in the camera view they look like they are flashing, in fact they are just tumbling little ice flakes.

. . . As for STS-80, take a look at the video below and decide for yourself whether you believe the objects to be ice flakes, or something else.

Exclusive interview with member of CIA panel on UFOs

If you were going to cast the character of a brilliant eccentric scientist for a Spielberg-type sci-fi movie, the late NASA astrophysicist Dr. Thornton Leigh Page (1913-1996) would fit the role perfectly. He had a big beard, used a pirate-like eye patch (he had lost an eye in a car accident in 1961) and constantly smoked a pipe. In ufological history, Dr. Page is best known as one of the five top scientists who sat on the CIA’s Scientific Advisory Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects—better known as the Robertson Panel after its chairman Dr. Howard P. Robertson—convened secretly by the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC on January 14-17, 1953.

By all accounts, the Robertson Panel produced one of the U.S. government’s most influential policy decisions on UFOs, although the key role of the CIA was kept secret for many years. It was in the early eighties when I met Dr. Page at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas, where he worked during the last phase of his very active career in science, academia, and government. I traveled often to Houston in the period between 1981 and 1984 because my late sister and her family were living there at the time. I spent a lot of time going to JSC and doing articles and interviews on the space program for a science column I was then publishing in The New York City Tribune. I also got to know and interview some of the ufologists at JSC like John Schuessler, who became later the director of MUFON, the brilliant scientist Alan Holt, and James Oberg, the well known UFO skeptic, space expert and author.

It was Oberg, in fact, who first took me to Dr. Page’s office during one of my earlier visits to JSC. I still remember the gist of our first conversation. He had just received back then a packet of documents from Lee Graham about the so-called “Blue Room” at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where UFO secret files and/or artifacts were supposedly kept; and where Senator Barry Goldwater was denied access, as he later stated on the record in a number of letters. (For background on this story you can read Michael Schratt’s article “Inside the Blue Room” in Open Minds magazine issue 3. Dr. Page told me on that first meeting that he had just sent the package of “Blue Room” letters to Dr. J. Allen Hynek at CUFOS, of which he was a member of the Board of Governors.

The second anecdote had to do with his not too friendly relationship with Dr. Edward Condon, the director of the famous USAF-sponsored Scientific Study on UFOs conducted by the University of Colorado in the late sixties. Their feud had to do with who would write the UFO entry for the Encyclopedia Britannica. Condon wanted the assignment and so he was furious when Page got it instead. Dr. Page provided a little more background on this “exchange” between the two scientists in the Abstract for a talk he gave on “The CIA Robertson Panel on the UFO problem” for the Society for Scientific Exploration (SSE) in Austin, Texas, in 1987:

The final anecdote has to do with my being invited to write the article on UFO for the Encyclopedia Britannica. I thought it only right to check my text with Condon, so I phoned him at the University of Colorado. When I explained the situation, there was a loud crash, and the phone went dead. When I called back, the secretary explained that Dr. Condon was so angry that he had not been approached by the Britannica that he dashed the phone to the floor.

In subsequent trips to Houston and the JSC, I made sure to always visit Dr. Page, and he eventually agreed to do an interview for my science column in The New York City Tribune, which took place at his office on June 22, 1983. By this time, Dr. Page had moved his office to literally the end of JSC, where he had his library and his own world. The place was so far from the main JSC buildings that you had to take a special cab to get there. The bulk of the interview, however, was not on UFOs but on Dr. Page’s extensive research in astronomy and space exploration, including an experiment he conducted with “a powerful ultraviolet camera” that was set up by the Apollo 16 astronauts on the lunar surface. Page trained astronaut John Young on how to use the camera, and he also used to teach basic astronomy to NASA astronauts. We also discussed comets and his astronomical research on the “dark matter” in the universe. Unfortunately, I’ve lost my article in the Tribune so I cannot post it here, but that article dealt only with Dr. Page’s astronomical research. The UFO part came at the end of the interview and it was never published, until now. However, before posting the transcript let’s review first briefly the colorful career and personality of Dr. Thornton Leigh Page.

Who was Dr. Thornton Page

Dr. Thornton Leigh Page (1913-1996) doesn’t have a Wikipedia entry, but there is a very thorough and personal obituary written by one of his many students, Donald E. Osterbrock of the Lick Observatory who became a member of the National Academy of Sciences, published in the Bulletin of the American Astronomical Society (BAAS) in 1996. Dr. Page was born in New Haven, Connecticut, where his father taught physics at Yale, growing up in an academic atmosphere. He received his BS in physics from Yale in 1934, becoming a Rhodes scholar and studying astrophysics at Oxford. Page remained at Oxford until 1938, when he received his D. Phil., and also got married. He was then appointed instructor in astronomy at the University of Chicago, and he would continue to teach at intervals throughout the rest of his life. Here Osterbrock added his own personal experience as a student of Page:

Page proved to be an outstanding undergraduate astrophysics teacher, as I can testify from my own experience soon after World War II. He was demanding, inspiring, and possessed a vivid personality, exemplified by his beard (uncommon in those days) and the brilliant red sailor’s rain hat he wore on many occasions.

Page served actively in the war in a number of capacities, joining the Naval Ordnance Laboratory in Washington “to work on magnetic mines and countermeasures,” traveling to England to observe the countermeasures there. He was then, continues Osterbrock,

…sent to Pacific Fleet headquarters at Pearl Harbor with the minelaying operations-research group. He served on Guam, Tinian, and at sea, and was with the fleet in Tokyo Bay for the Japanese surrender. After a year helping to clear mines in the Inland Sea, just before he retired as a lieutenant commander, he observed and reported on the atomic bomb tests at Bikini.

Page returned to academia in Chicago after the war, but returned to government service in 1951 as deputy director of the Operations Research Office in the Department of the Army, where he worked mostly on classified matters—he had a Top Secret “Q” clearance—including a six-month tour in Korea during the war and two years as chief science advisor at U.S. Army Headquarters in Heidelberg, West Germany. It was during this period that Dr. Page was recruited to serve in the CIA Robertson Panel (a detail omitted in Osterbrock’s profile), and the only time he ever got paid by the CIA, according to Page himself. A declassified memo by H. Marshall Chadwell, the CIA scientist in charge of organizing the Robertson Panel, gives a little background on the hiring of both Dr. Page and Dr. Luis W. Alvarez, the brilliant physicist who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1968 and is best known for his theory that the extinction of the dinosaurs was triggered by the crash of an asteroid or comet.

Dated January 9, 1953, Chadwell’s memo begins with the problem: “To obtain the services of Dr. Luis W. Alvarez and Dr. Thornton Page as ad hoc consultants to the O/SI [Office of Scientific Intelligence] Advisory Panel on ‘Unidentified Flying Objects’, scheduled to convene 14 January 1953.” Chadwell then list some brief qualifications for both scientists:

b.   Dr. Luis W. Alvarez is an outstanding scientist in the fields of radar operation, characteristics and anomalies.

c.   Dr. Thornton Page is a particularly competent astronomer and astrophysicist. Moreover, he has given considerable thought to the subject of “unidentified flying objects.”

In a letter to researcher Bill Pitts, Dr. Page provided a little more background to his enrollment in the Robertson Panel, which he says, came of a result of his friendship with Dr. Robertson:

H.P. Robertson, a mathematical physicist, was an old friend of mine. (We worked together in France just after WWII). He was asked by the CIA to gather a panel of distinguished scientists in Washington, 14-18 Jan. 1953, to be briefed on the UFO problem, which had just broken out in D.C. He invited me because of our friendship and because I lived in D.C., requiring no travel expenses.

In the interview with me he also gives the additional and important reason that he already had all the necessary security clearances needed to work in such a panel. In 1958, five years after the Robertson Panel, Dr. Page returned to academia, this time as professor and head of the astronomy department at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where he moved with his new wife Lou Williams, a geologist. Osterbrock provides a wonderful vignette of Page’s unique personality, writing that in this period he and his new family,

lived in a large, picturesque, university house which dated back to 1783. He used a picture of it as the illustration on the labels of the bottles of beer which he brewed under the name of “Pagerbr’áu,” and presented to faculty friends as Christmas gifts. Before leaving Germany he had located and bought a 1938 Mercedes touring car which had once belonged to Field Marshal Erwin Rommel; back in Middletown with Connecticut vanity license plates bearing a short version of the Panzer leader’s name it established Page as a colorful, respected campus character.

In 1961, Page was seriously injured in a car accident, losing his right eye, which led to his use of the eye-patch. Following a long recovery period he went back to science, including working on space-tracking programs with the Harvard-Smithsonian Observatory, helping to modernize the Cordoba Observatory in Argentina, and lecturing on astronomy to astronauts at NASA’s JSC, among other things. In 1971 he resigned from Wesleyan and moved permanently to Houston, working there first as a member of the Naval Research Laboratory until his retirement in 1976, and afterwards directly for NASA. He also taught astronomy at the University of Houston-Clear Lake near the space center, and also organized a Brown Bag (luncheon) Seminar at JSC, which continued after his death in Houston in 1996, at the age of 82. Dr. Page, concluded Osterbrock,

was a productive research worker and an outstanding teacher in the Socratic mode. He left thousands of former students more interested and knowledgeable about astronomy, science and the universe than he had found them.

Transcript of Interview with Dr. Thornton Page

Johnson Space Center, June 22, 1983

Antonio Huneeus: Well, maybe we can talk a little bit on the UFO subject. I am familiar of course with most of your background on the UFO subject, but what I would really like to get from you—I have reviewed so many times all the pages on the Robertson Panel, the declassified documents that were released by the CIA recently, I am very familiar with all that material, but I’ve never spoken with somebody who was really there, so more than the conclusions and all that, it’s more the anecdotal aspect that I want to know.

Thornton Page: Yeah, when I first got on the Robertson Panel I thought it was a lot of stupidity and lack of serious study of UFOs, and Robertson, who was an old friend of mine, got very angry at me one day and said, ‘shut up Page!’

AH: How were you selected on it?

TP: I am not really sure.

AH: You were not involved at all with UFOs before that?

TP: No, and I lived in Washington, so it was easy to attend the meetings, and well…

AH: You were doing research for the Navy at that time?

TP: Actually, at that time it was for the Army, but I was an astronomer by training and so perhaps it was for that reason, and they had a number of very eminent people on that panel, including Luis Alvarez a Nobel Prize winner, so it was an interesting time. We were shown everything that was known, that was another thing, I had a clearance, top secret and Q clearance which made it possible because everybody on this panel had to be cleared to top secret so they could show us all these secret things; and we, actually I was able to debunk one of the early UFO reports by a Navy man near Salt Lake City, who had got pictures of white spots and taken on a movie [the Trementon, Utah, film of July 2, 1952 taken by Delbert Newhouse], so we got a similar camera and sent a man out there to the same place and he got some pictures, of course this time he had binoculars with him, and they were seagulls, the pictures therefore were not UFOs but seagulls. I think that since then I’ve come to see the peculiarities of UFOs which are largely in the minds of people who see them, and it’s hard to explain why the interest on UFOs has been maintained for such a long period of time, but the sightings, in my opinion, are a variety of different things. The term UFO tends to make it seem that is one thing when, I think, most sensible scientists would agree that there are a wide number of different things. There are certainly many sightings, good sightings, with several people involved and either photographs or radar or some other detection scheme, which cannot be explained, and I think this is quite reasonable that there are combinations of circumstances in the atmosphere that scientists don’t know about yet, so that’s why there are unexplained UFO reports.

AH: So you would think that they are natural causes?

TP: Right, and of course I have to agree with Hynek that if they are not natural causes it would be of great importance, so I favor his institute at Northwestern, the Center for UFO Studies, to keep on studying these unexplained cases with the possibility that something extraterrestrial will turn up, but as I said earlier, my own inclination is that they are natural.

AH: Right, what was the atmosphere in those meetings? I mean, you met Ruppelt and all those people, right?

TP: Yeah, well, as I said, I started off with this hostility to UFOs, and got somewhat converted, I still think that, well, some of the investigations was as good as could be done, other parts were poor, and the very large number of reports is what made it so difficult for Hynek and the other people who were trying to run the show, but I must admit that the Robertson Panel was handled very well, the CIA, well they paid us among other things (laughs) and they had the presentations well organized, it was done well.

AH: Was there any kind of indication to come up with a predetermined  conclusion, or you were entirely free?

TP: No, no, in fact I made one of the recommendations of the Panel conclusions, was that a serious hazard, our main purpose was to determine whether there was a hazard to the United States from these UFOs, and I thought that probably the most serious hazard was in our communication system because the number of phone calls and letters and telegrams that were sent about UFOs in that scare of 1952 could have actually made difficulties for Civil Defense and the military because of the confusion in communications, but the Robertson Panel concluded that there was no hazard per se. Well, as I remember it now and I haven’t looked at the report for a long time, I think we favored the natural causes as an explanation.

AH: Well, I think there was a clause that they [UFOs] were not a hazard per se, but they were a hazard of what you were saying, in terms of clogging the defense communication system.

TP: That’s correct.

AH: Therefore they had to be debunked or something.

TP: Yeah, that was my doing, my contribution.

AH: Now, but then of all those very eminent scientists you were the only one, I think, well, without counting Allen Hynek who was already working on that…

TP: He [Hynek] was not on the Panel.

AH: He was an Associate Member, but you were the only one that kept at least a passing interest on the subject. I’ve never seen any of the others, I’ve never seen their names again [in connection to UFOs], and you were involved later on that other thing organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science [AAAS].

TP: Yes, that’s true. Well, we had, Carl Sagan and I organized the AAAS Conference on UFOs, and there we had tremendous opposition from, it was when the Condon Report came out, and the idea was to have Condon come and he refused. The idea was to have—well, the book A Scientific Debate describes it—so that people on both sides of the question, both anti-UFO and pro-UFO, could say what they thought, but there it was largely, well Carl and I selected people we knew to come to the meeting and talk, and we threw open the discussion to the whole audience. I remember at the time we were very worried about that because we thought we’d get some crackpots who would, you know, continue the meeting forever with discussions that didn’t make any sense, but it worked out fairly well, and the book records what happened. I guess by that time I had given my course on UFOs at Wesleyan University and I talked about how this was a good way to get students to study astronomy.

AH: Yeah, I remember on the declassified documents I’ve reviewed there is a whole correspondence you had with Marshall Chadwell, one of those people at the CIA.

TP: Yeah.

AH: About the results of the course.

TP: Right, we never thought in Washington in 1952 that I would be teaching a course on UFOs 20 years later (laughs).

AH: You also did write the chapter on UFOs for the Encyclopedia Britannica, right?

TP: Entry, right, and that’s what made Condon very angry because he thought he should write the article for the Encyclopedia Britannica (laughs) and I tried to give both sides, and so I think that article is still, well, it’s not biased.

AH: Since your book with Sagan you haven’t been that involved?

TP: No, here at JSC for quite a while I answered all the letters about UFOs, but since then, Schuessler does it now, and some of them were ridiculous but some were quite interesting, pictures taken by a man in Italy which showed lights in the sky, and well, reports from many different countries, it’s surprising that they started sending these reports to NASA, I don’t know why, I guess in the early Apollo flight there was some joking about UFOs, Oberg debunked this, but a lot of people thought that the astronauts had seen UFOs and therefore that we would be experts on UFOs here.

AH: OK, I guess that sort of covers it. I guess the main thing is, you consider yourself more or less a skeptic but you do endorse serious research like the one done by Dr. Hynek?

TP: I am on his Board of Governors, or whatever he calls it, and well, I suggested several things to them. One was this man, we talked about the Blue Room the other day…

AH: This is not entirely related to UFOs, but the subject of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI)?

TP: Yeah, well, I have given money to Carl Sagan’s Planetary Society, and they, as you know, have a new radio analysis program out of the Haystack Radio Telescope, and hope to survey at different frequencies all the sky or at least more than half of the sky, so that the possibility of radio communications from extraterrestrials can be estimated, that is, if they do this over enough of the sky for a long enough time and don’t find any radio signals, then I think you have to admit that there aren’t any people trying to reach us by radio.

AH: The search has been very limited so far?

TP: So far it’s been very limited and it’s a mammoth undertaking.

The UFO Course

It is interesting to note that of all the official members of the Robertson Panel, Dr. Page was the only one who kept at least a passing interest in ufology for the rest of his life. Of course the other one was Dr. Hynek, but he was only an associate member and didn’t sign the final conclusions and recommendations of the panel. Another member and prominent scientist, Dr. Lloyd Berkner, has been implicated as an alleged member of the Majestic 12 or MJ-12 Committee tasked to research the 1947 UFO crash in Roswell, but the authenticity of these “documents” is in dispute, and a discussion about MJ-12 goes well beyond the scope of this article.

Dr. Page continued to correspond once in a while with CIA officials like Philip G. Strong and some of this correspondence can be read or downloaded at the CIA’s FOIA Electronic Reading Room (their equivalent to the now famous FBI Vault). Some of these letters have to do with queries from outside people like Dr. Leon Davidson or Fred Kirsch, mostly regarding the CIA’s participation in organizing the Robertson Panel, which the agency tried to hide for a number of years. Others deal with the idea of a course on UFOs, which began to germinate in Dr. Page’s mind after his return to academia in 1958. Eventually this developed into a full-fledged UFO course at Wesleyan University in the late sixties, probably the first of its kind at any American university. Dr. Page provided the background and explained the success of this class in the already mentioned letter to Bill Pitts, where he wrote:

I went back to teaching astronomy at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where I had difficulty attracting students to my courses. So in 1967, I offered a course in Flying Saucers, which attracted 50 students (astronomy got 10 to 15). They had to learn some astronomy to identify UFOs as planets or bright stars. The kids loved it, each one wrote a term paper citing the evidence for or against UFOs as extraterrestrial visitors, and we published the three best papers in a pamphlet, printed by the University, which sold well at 25 cents an the Univ. bookstore. We even had a debate on a Hartford radio station between two pro and two con students.

I found the titles of some of the winning papers quite interesting, particularly for the time period of 1968-1971 when they were written by the students. For instance, “The Scientific and Philosophical Question of Life – Part IV: Flying Saucers?” by Bruce Karten; “The Implications of Flying Saucers for Theology” by William Madden; and “Cosmopolitics: Problems and Prospects of Human Relations in Space” by Donald Schellhardt. These papers, together with other documents related to Dr. Page (his correspondence with Bill Pitts and James Klotz, the Encyclopedia Britannica UFO entry, review of the Condon Report, etc.) can be found at the Computer UFO Network (CUFON) website.

Thornton Page monitored the UFO phenomenon quite actively particularly in the period of the late sixties, publishing among other things a paper titled, “Photographic Sky Coverage for the Detection of UFO’s,” in the June 14, 1968 issue of the AAAS magazine Science; a long and insightful review of the Condon Report in the American Journal of Physics (Vol. 37, No. 10, Oct. 1969); the UFO entry in the Encyclopedia Britannica, which was used in the editions between 1974 and 1984; and the book, co-edited with Carl Sagan, UFO’s – A Scientific Debate (W. W. Norton, 1972), which is the proceedings of the AAAS UFO Symposium in Boston in 1969. Besides the Introduction co-written with Sagan, Page wrote the first paper in the book, “Education and the UFO Phenomenon.”

In his review of the Condon Report, Dr. Page wrote that

it does not help the public image of science when the scientists shrug off sightings and interpretation accepted by so many tax-paying citizens simply because “UFO’s don’t appeal to us.” In fact, the scientists’ general refusal to take UFO’s seriously may strengthen the “new left” view that science is based more on authority than on observation and reason.

Dr. Page revisited this issue on his paper about Education and UFOs, where he concluded that,

For a number of reasons, many students as well as the general public are interested in UFO’s. Teachers should capitalize on this interest in teaching courses of broad appeal; scientists in general should take advantage  of public interest in UFO’s to correct  public misconceptions  about science.

If nothing else, the trends analyzed by Dr. Page have continued to grow. The public interest and belief in UFOs and ETs is likely bigger now, and so is the disconnect between the public and the scientific community; or between science and the political class as can be seen from issues like climate change. But the need to use UFOs to teach science—or any other number of issues specially in the social sciences—is still very much relevant, probably more so than when Dr. Thornton Page discussed it.

     This picture is undoubtedly one of ufology's most interesting and genuine UFO photo cases. It was taken by professional photographers from the Martin Aircraft Company (which later merged with the American-Marietta Corporation and the Lockheed Corporation to eventually become what is now Lockheed Martin) for a promotional shot of their Martin B-57 Canberra bomber. The bomber was flying near Edwards Air Force Base in southern California sometime in 1954. This photo was leaked to the UFO organization NICAP. . . .
