UFO Sightings in the United States

Arizona Cylinder

Wickenburg — Huge object at least 200 or more yards long, light on front and rear only floated directly in front of our home on February 23, 2015. It made no sound or detectable engine noise. It was a clear calm night with partial moon to our left and object came into view from our right. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Alaska Launch

Alakanuk – We saw this object leave the water that flew straight up out of sight on August 10, 2014.

No noise was heard and I was lucky to have my camera on hand to take this image of an object coming out of the sea. It was out of sight in less than 5 seconds. Thanks to MUFON CMS’

California Orb

Playa Del Rey – I was sitting in my car observing the coastal clouds coming in when the object appeared to light up on February 18, 2015. Then it disappeared and appeared again to light up when I took picture, then disappeared and I never seen it again. Thanks to MUFON CMS

San Marcos — My wife and had just picked our 5 year old up from school and were driving home as I glanced up to see a metallic object that was hovering over the golf course. This object looks to be an upside-down shaped teardrop, with what appeared to be a flat almost paddle-like shape formed at the base of the object. We went around the corner to our house, grabbed the camera, and rushed back, about a 1/4 mile away. We got back to the same spot, and could still see the object. But now it was spinning in a slow counter-clockwise rotation, traveling northwest about the same speed as an airplane. Its altitude was around 1500 feet. I spent 10 minutes trying to capture the object, but it appears to “evade” being photographed. We went home, and discovered the first 4 pictures only were of sky, but fifth had a little “dot” that I enlarged. It is a metallic craft of some sort, with red and blue lights around the middle. The object is blurred the more it is magnified, but still is an interesting object to say the least. Thanks to MUFON

Mt. Shasta — I am an airline captain. My co-pilot and I were on our way from LAX-PDX at FL 380 and we were in the Mt. Shasta area and looked out and up and noticed two brighter than normal stars. We were heading about 310 degrees and to our 2 o’clock high, maybe 50 degrees up from the horizon and mentioned to my co-pilot that I didn’t remember ever seeing two stars that were brighter than the surrounding stars in the background. The lights were an inch apart in the windscreen and the size if normal stars. One of the “stars” just dimmed out over a 10 second time span followed by the other one dimming out completely in about 10 seconds also.

The stars now obviously lights were not in motion, and were not satellites or falling stars. The altitude of the lights appeared to be outside of the atmosphere and these were at least 100,000 feet up. Mankind does not have craft that can fly at that altitude and not be moving. Florida Orb

Orlando – Driving home from grocery store on February 20, 2015, I noticed lights next to a waxing crescent moon. I arrived home and viewed non moving lights next to the moon at around 9 pm for 15 minutes.
Came inside to drop off groceries and brought my 12 year old son outside to look at the lights with me.

Moon is moving (as it should ), but 1 white and 1 red light (red light at a 30 degree angle to the right of the white light) appeared stationary. View for the next 15 minutes and lights stay stationary to the moons movement. Returned outside at 10:15 pm and moon moved past horizon and lights gone. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Georgia-Object

Cumming — Outside took a picture of the sun just to see if I could on February 6, 2015 about noon.  Later that night I looked at the picture and noticed the object.

Indiana Men in Black

Plainfield – I work as a night security officer at a warehouse located a mile west of the Indianapolis International Airport on Reeves Road with another security officer and we have noticed many V-shaped circular lights in the sky. On the night of February 1st (around 10:30 pm) there was an array of distinctive bright red lights traveling over the airport heading west over Plainfield. I tried to get photos but the light pollution was too bright. I counted 34 red lights traveling back to back and moving very slow but in a straight line. I reported what I saw to a friend in Cincinnati who received a similar report from another witness in Indianapolis.

On February 8th at 1:15 am the security guard at the gate called me on his radio that was very unusual. When I reached the gatehouse, there was a black Chevrolet Impala parked at the gate and two tall people standing by the gatehouse door dressed in black attire with, which were slacks, heavy bomber jackets and leather gloves. They wore beret-like hats with sunglasses, even though it was dark. There was no insignia or lettering on the vehicle, though it had Ohio license plates.  One of the men asked me if I had witnessed anything unusual in the sky above the airport. I mentioned what we had seen on February 1st and that there had been a lot of different lights seen the past year or so. He said he wasn’t interested in the other sightings, just what was seen over the airport. Then he wanted to know if I told anyone else. I asked who they were. They both smiled, apologized for taking up my time and left. Maryland Aerostat-Balloon

Jim Nelson writes, “I shot this picture of a couple of balloons near I-80 in western Utah in December, 2012 that looks a lot like the object shown in your most recent newsletter in Maryland.”

The Tethered Aerostat Radar System is balloon-borne radar. The primary aerostat mission is to provide radar data in support of other federal agencies involved in the nation’s drug interdiction program. One aerostat, located at Cudjoe Key, Fla., transmits TV Marti, which sends American television signals into Cuba for the U.S. Information Agency. The air drug interdiction program consists of land-based aerostat radar detection balloons along the U.S. southern border and in the Caribbean. The purpose is to seal off the border to illegal drugs coming in by aircraft. Thanks to Jim Nelson

Massachusetts Lights

East Longmeadow — I was on my way to work on the night of August 27, 2014, around 10:15 Pm, at Hampden Road when I saw through the trees a red light.  I often see airplanes that fly into Bradley Airport.  I told my friend on the phone that I saw a red light in the sky. I drove down that road to a clearing to look at the red light and noticed another red light through the trees.

I saw two solid red lights just hovering there in the southeast sky. I tried to get a photo, but it was not clear at all. But when I was stopped I had a great view of a light maybe baseball size red lights. The picture has been enhanced to bring out the lights.

Nebraska Lights

On February 18, 2015, two lights were observed in the sky just north of my town on a gravel road. I was taking sunset pictures. As I looked to the east the lights appeared and I was unsure what to make of them as they were too close together to be planes.

After a few minutes the bottom one vanished. Then about minute and half later the top light abruptly turned right and was gone.
I was shocked, baffled, and confused, as to what I was seeing.

Nevada Light

Elko — I am still witnessing this light hovering west of me on February 22, 2015. It emitted a red pulsating light that is still hovering around near the object. I am unsure of what to make of this. It does have a light that is hovering just below it as well. I have video and I am still watching this. It really has not moved since I saw it. The images so far are kind of blurry, but the video is good.

New Jersey Orb

Harvey Cedars — We live on an outlet to Barnegat Bay about two blocks from the ocean and about a mile from a Coast Guard station with black helicopters. Three times this past month between 1 and 2 am, a brilliant white orb was seen over the lagoon behind our home. We observed this from our third floor bedroom. The light was so brilliant, turning more blue, and then thinned into a blue line, which may have been the edge of a craft. We looked thru the patio doors and what seemed to be a transparent craft simply vanished. This has happened a few times in recent weeks. Previously we saw a large, dark wedge shaped craft with 5 round white brilliant lights hovering silently about 20 feet over the ocean’s edge. It remained in place for 20 minutes. Since then, the orbs/lights have been a repeated occurrence.

On one occasion, my husband observed three humanoid beings surrounded with brilliant blue light come into our room through closed doors about 2 Am. H was reading in bed, and I was asleep, and they began to come towards my side of the bed.  My husband “heard” one of them say “He is a friend of ____ (hard to understand) we must leave”. Then they simply went back through the doors. He got up and followed them, but they had vanished. I woke up as they left and we were pretty shook up. The beings have not returned, but the orbs/lights turning into craft have been seen by us a few times since that “visit”. Thanks to MUFON CMS

MONROE — I witnessed a large black triangle flying object with very bright flashing alternate color lights on January 7, 2015, (that matched the description of a flying object over Baskng Ridge, NJ). I heard a very strong rumbling hum as it flew slowly right over my head with extremely bright colored flashing red, blue, white and green lights. I could feel the vibration of the rumbling hum as my dog looked up and cowered a little. It spanned 50 feet and more and was only 75 feet above the tree tops in as turned south. It took several minutes before it was out of sight. I never felt threatened by it, just curious about how something could fly so slow and low without falling.  NOTE: The above image is a rendering. New York Purple Light

Niagara Falls — I was in looking at the falls and the lighted buildings on Canada side. I first noticed it as a dull light in the sky on August 11, 2014. I assumed it was a building reflecting light. It was a purple light with a purple haze around it and a light being projected from the top.

My reaction was confusion because it was no longer there. I lost sight when I looked at my friends to point it out to them and when I looked back it was gone. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Oregon Lights

Portland — We were driving from Portland to my son’s house and saw several arching light in the shape of a disc on February 17, 2015

We stopped to take pictures of the unmoving craft as it sat there as we watched it hovering. Amazed at the size of the ship we had to stop and take a better look. It didn’t move an inch even after we left back to on the road to Lewiston. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Brookings – I was taking pictures of the moon on February 20, 2015, and found a strange disc in the picture with red and green lights below and to the right of the object.

It only showed in one picture only. It may be nothing but I thought I should report it in case. Thank you for your time, Red object not picked up in the image. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Texas Lights

Georgetown – On February 18, 2015, about 11:30 pm, I was doing some stargazing in my backyard when I noticed an abnormally bright object which I thought to be a planet. I looked with binoculars and noticed that it was emitting lights. I proceeded to take some photos with my camera and tripod. Now, I know that streaking of lights can happen when you move during a long exposure, but this is sort of odd. I’ve simply never seen anything in the sky that gave off so many colors of lights.

Ten minutes later I got friends to look but had barely moved. So, after a teeny bit of research, I found out that satellites don’t usually have lights plus there weren’t any satellites in the area at the time. So, it must have been an aircraft moving really slow and giving off rainbows of flashing lights. The streaking of lights does not seem to affect the stars. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Worldwide UFO Reports

Arab Emirates

Dubai — While on a business trip on January 18, 2015, in, after visiting the Burj Khalifa (world tallest building) my driver was driving on the highway. As we passed the world’s tallest building I decided to snap a few photos using my iPhone 6 plus. I took two photos at 9:43 PM, while driving and noticed nothing in the frame of either photo. The next day I saw the image in the frame that is still yet unexplained. The second image was taken within the same second and it shown no object in the frame.

The building has façade lighting that displays verbiage that begins at the bottom and ascends upward. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Australia Disc

Wollongong — I would like to be contacted so I can send a photo for you to investigate on January 28, 2015

It’s a very clear photo of something I believe to be extra terrestrial. As I was driving home I saw a hovering craft right above us.

Canada Lights

St. Catharines — I was just walking by the patio door when I noticed an extremely bright light next to the moon with a small red one above it to the right a little.

I observed this object for an hour and a half and have seen it before and even have witnessed the little red one moving farther away and back again from the stationary object. (Image was unable to pick up the red object.)

Jackhead – No, there was no “UFO Crash” at Jackhead on February 18, 2015.
Chuck Reever MUFON’s Director of International Investigations received a report from Chris Rutkowski in Winnipeg. He actually spoke to some people on the Indian reserve, who said the claims about a crashed disk, military evacuation, downed phone lines, etc, are false. Chris’s blog has some good info: http://uforum.blogspot.ca/ The Canadian Armed Forces are doing Search and Rescue training on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg is exactly where these exercises are held.

Guatemala Object

 Lake Atitlan – I noticed the object when I started editing my pics from my trip on December 24, 2014.  The object doesn’t appear in the previous frame taken 6 seconds earlier or the next frame after.  I didn’t know about its existence until just a few days ago when I started editing my pics from the trip. It does appear to be a silver shape when I zoom in.  Thanks to MUFON CMS

India

Was Taking a picture of the sunset, but nothing was visible in the horizon while taking the picture February 24, 2015. But the image showed something else. To reassure myself I took two more pictures but the object not was visible in these. CMS

Indonesia Light

Bali — Bright orange light, twice the size of the North Star, going slowly north, then vanishes on February 1, 2015, at 10:26 PM. It reappears several seconds later to the east, moves quickly upwards, downwards, left, then right and disappears again as it slowly moved upwards. Thanks to Peter Davenport Director www.UFOCenter.com

Italy Pillar

Mercogliano — As I was looking through live cams I came across this one in Italy on February 23, 2015. A pillar-like UFO has been hovering there nightly. I have been watching this UFO for several years and believe it to be parked and cloaked. The cloak is visible due to the infrared lights connected to the live cam. To the human eye, this UFO is invisible. I have seen it with a fine metal skin before on this cam.

Mexico Cigar

Volcano Popocatepetl — I found this UFO in the live cam archives on February 15, 2015 this morning at 9:04:03. It was only a few hours old and shows a dark cigar UFO over the volcano near the clouds. This object matches past UFOs seen over the mouth that were also cigar shaped.

I have been keeping an eye on this live cam for over 5 years now and I have reported over 50 UFOs over it since then. If you want to catch a UFO, use today’s tech (live cams) to find them. Live cams allow you to be everywhere at once.

Nicaragua Blues

Managua — My fiancé’ and her daughter has sent me photos of lights in the sky that appear as random orbs.  Some remained in a triangular pattern on February 20, 2015.  I have more photos and this is an ongoing event that is unexplainable to her and becoming frightening. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Spain Rectangle

Las Rozas — On February 21, 2015, we saw a rectangle with a red light in the center with orange flashes around it from 21:09 to 21:14. The view was from Las Rozas to Sierra de Guadarrama. The changing rectangle seemed to move at a low height to his right accompanied by a yellow sphere. It disappeared at times, and returned with the same intensity with a vertical movement and slowly flew out of sight. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Switzerland Moving Light

 Arosa – I am using my night vision regularly during the night on January 5, 2015, to watch the sky. I just let the video recorder run and check in the morning the footage. Usually I see a lot of airplanes but sometimes also round flying lights.

They have various speeds and on this video you can see two blinking lights. This short video is the result of 15 hours video recording during 5 and 7 January 2015. Unfortunately my night vision can only cover a small part of the sky and it would be helpful to watch and record the night sky in a more structured manner, because these walking and blinking lights can be observed during every night. The bright light is moving from right to left in the video. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Thailand Lights

Nakhon Si Thammarat Province – Lee writes, I am on the Pacific side in a remote village with no traffic lights, and most folks are lights out at sunset so light pollution here is non-existent.

We see two general types of sightings over the Pacific on numerous occasions of a small light circling another larger light and both would travel a short distance then simply disappear. Later, either those lights or maybe a different pair would reappear in a different location.

The next one we seen and have only seen twice, is two lights that  chase each other, one light will move just a short distance and another light will chase it nearly looking like they are one, then the second one will dart away and the other light chases that one. They are quite quick at this as well. I am a Retired Navy Chief with 21 years of service and have been living in Thailand for the last 9 years. My Thai wife is a former school teacher and counselor with a Bachelors degree in psychology. Our niece is 20 years old, and we do a lot of bird watching. Thanks to Lee

Uruguay Disc

 Montevideo – At 3:30 am on January 27, 2013, and while I was in the celebration of a birthday of a friend in the Parador Figari of Playa Honda of Malvin. This sighting was what happened at Osni and was perfectly visible by all those who we were nearby. The object in question came out of the sea up to disappear completely when leaving the terrestrial atmosphere.

The event that I that also observed while he was walking along the Rambla of Malvin, There was a very clear visibility of the sighting and we expect to have more testimonies of what happened.

Monthly Statistical MUFON Report - for February 2015

CMS continues to amass sighting reports from around the globe. In February 2015
there were 607 sightings reported to MUFON through CMS from the following countries;

If you are getting more sighting reports than listed here, please be sure to enter them manually into CMS. To make this happen automatically, make sure your local MUFON Website is pointing to the CMS Reporting form on www.mufon.com and direct all calls you get to the MUFON website so that witnesses can enter their own report directly into CMS.

ALL sighting reports received by CMS are already filled in by the witness, saving you and your investigators time. Each report is automatically sent to YOU, the State Director and Assistant State Director, for you to assign someone to follow-up and complete the report.

If a UFO sighting comes in over the phone, or by e-mail, and you want to enter it yourself, simply go to CMS at http://mufoncms.com (once logged in) and click on "ADD CASE" in the upper right hand corner of the screen. This gives you a blank sighting reporting form that you can fill out while the witness is on the phone.
Once the report is filled out be sure to click "SAVE" and you will have easily added your NEW report to CMS.

Ex-CIA Official Says Stories of Crashed UFOs and Little Gray Men “on Ice” Discussed at a High-Level

First, this article has absolutely nothing to do with the bogus claims currently being made by the promoters of the so-called Roswell Slides, which allegedly show the body of a dead alien. (I predict that this latest,
regrettable chapter in ufological history will implode in the near future.)

No, my title refers to a far more credible revelation.
Although Victor Marchetti, the former Special Assistant to CIA Director Richard Helms, first published intriguing information relating to high-level discussion of recovered UFOs and dead aliens in 1979, in an article published in Second Look magazine, most people are completely unaware of it.

Indeed, an online search for the piece, titled “How the CIA Views the UFO Phenomenon”, yields very few results. While the Internet provides access to vast numbers of UFO-related documents, books, articles and blogs, one of the most important pieces ever written on the topic, authored by a knowledgeable government insider, has been almost completely overlooked.

Interestingly, when I attempted to post Marchetti’s informed disclosures at a popular blog operated by journalist Billy Cox, my comments and link to the article disappeared into the cybervoid. Repeated attempts met the same fate and, when I subsequently asked Cox to post them for me, he encountered the same problem.


Cox later told me, “I managed to get your post on my blog just now, but it took some doing. When I tried to do it normally, by putting your name and email address in the cue fields, it simply wouldn’t post; I kept getting a message saying it had already been posted, which obviously it had not. And of course when I try to reply to your messages lately, it bounces back as undeliverable. I wound up having to publish it under my name, then going in behind the post and replacing my name/address with yours. Very strange, Robert.”

I told Cox one might argue that efforts had been undertaken, by an unknown party, to block Marchetti’s revelations from being made more accessible online. Lest this charge seem too paranoid, I added that I had often had to endure such anomalies when attempting to communicate with my ex-military sources regarding their involvement in UFO incidents at nuclear weapons sites.


Furthermore, my attempts over the years to post those individuals’ disclosures at various blogs had frequently encountered the same sort of disconnects. Nevertheless, some of those dramatic revelations—involving UFOs shutting down American nuclear missiles—were livestreamed by CNN during my 2010 press conference in Washington D.C.:

In any case, Marchetti’s lengthy article contains important information about the CIA’s secret involvement, as well as its self-proclaimed non-involvement, with the UFO phenomenon. He writes, “I do know that the CIA and U.S. Government have been concerned over the UFO phenomenon for many years and that their attempts, both past and recent, to discount the significance of the phenomenon and to explain away the apparent lack of official interest in it have all the earmarkings of a classic
intelligence cover-up.”

took Marchetti all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, to attempt to stop the publication of his tome, The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence, which subsequently became a best-seller in 1974. The disenchanted agency man had resigned from the CIA in 1969; his book was an unprecedented, historic exposé of
his former employer’s numerous illegal activities—including spying on Americans, something forbidden by its charter—many of which were later investigated by Congress.

In short, Marchetti was especially dangerous to CIA simply because he knew so much about its operations, legal or not, and was willing to divulge them to the world as a hoped-for partial antidote.

While this same informed-observer status and careful, thoughtful analysis underpins Marchetti’s revelations about the agency’s relationship to UFOs, it must be remembered that CIA’s approach to all subjects is the use of compartmentalization, whereby any given individual’s knowledge is usually limited to one small part of a project or operation, to keep an overall understanding of the situation restricted to a very few high-level managers. The same was/is true with UFOs and, therefore, Marchetti can only report on what he personally knew, given that he was not involved with the agency’s apparent UFO pojects/operations and had no need-to-know about them.

Nevertheless, his published comments are noteworthy. He writes:

• During my years in the CIA, UFOs were not a subject of common discussion. But neither were they treated in a disdainful or derisive manner, especially not by the agency’s scientists. Instead, the topic was rarely discussed at internal meetings. It seemed to fall into the category of ‘very sensitive activities’...People simply did not talk about the UFO phenomenon.
  
  There were, however, rumors at high levels of the CIA—rumors of...little gray men whose ships had crashed, or had been shot down, being kept ‘on ice’ by the Air Force at FTD (the Foreign Technology
  Division) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.¹

Please note that Marchetti used the word “rumors”. Again, this is the result of his own non-involvement in whatever “very sensitive activities” CIA had going on relating to the UFO phenomenon.
Consequently, whatever information Marchetti was privy to resulted from informal and undoubtedly unauthorized chitchat he had encountered in the corridors of CIA headquarters.

But if stories of crashed UFOs and the bodies of the crews being kept in cold storage were being discussed at “high levels” within the agency, one can infer that those rumors were taken seriously. One might also speculate that information about all of this had been secured by CIA agents, probably by spying on the U.S. Air Force.

One important aspect of Marchetti’s revelation is the timing of the discussion at CIA. Marchetti resigned in 1969, nearly a decade prior to the seminal disclosures by retired U.S. Army counterintelligence officer Jesse Marcel who, during a television interview in 1978, divulged that he had held in his
hands wreckage from a craft “not of this Earth” that had crashed northwest of
Roswell Army Air Field in July 1947.

Confirmation of this event originates with another credible person, USAF Brigadier General Arthur E. Exon, who has stated for the record that one or more plane-loads of that wreckage did ideed arrive at Wright Field (later renamed Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) srtly thereafter and was subjected to intense analysis by aeronautical engineers. During an audiotaped interview with Roswell researcher Dr. Kevin D. Randle, in 1990, Exon said:

• ...They knew they had something new in their hands. The metal and material was unknown to [everyone] I talked to. Whatever they found, I never heard what the [analytical] results were. A couple of guys thought it might be Russian, but the overall consensus was that the pieces were from space. Everyone from the White House on down knew that what we had found was not of this world within 24 hours of our finding it…Roswell was the recovery of a craft from space.²

A number of UFO debunkers have claimed that the Roswell UFO crash story is a “modern myth” that originated as a result of public fascination with the writings of Stanton Friedman, Bill Moore, and others in the 1979-80 time-frame, which incorporated Marcel’s candid remarks about his involvement in the discovery of the mysterious wreckage in 1947.

However, in light of Marchetti’s revelations, this simply cannot be true. Given his resignation from CIA in 1969, he had to have heard those high level “rumors” about crashed UFOs and dead aliens stored at Wright-Patterson prior to that time.

In his article, Marchetti theorizes that the primary reason underlying the U.S. government’s refusal to acknowledge the reality of UFOs, if indeed the craft are piloted by alien beings, results from its fear that existing power structures would be fundamentally undermined by such an admission. He writes:

• ...the U.S. Government, in collusion with other national powers of the Earth, is determined to keep this information from the general public.
  The purpose of the international conspiracy is to maintain a workable stability among the nations of the world and for them, in turn, to retain institutional control over their respective populations. Thus, for these governments to admit there are beings from outer space attempting to contact us, beings with mentalities and technological capabilities obviously far superior to ours, could, once fully perceived by the average person, erode the foundations of the Earth's traditional power structure. Political and legal systems, religions, economic and social institutions could all soon become meaningless in the mind of the public. The national oligarchical establishments, even civilization as we know it, could collapse into anarchy. Such extreme conclusions are not
  necessarily valid, but they probably accurately reflect the fears of the "ruling class" of the major nations, whose leaders (particularly those in the intelligence business) have always advocated excessive governmental secrecy as being necessary to preserve "national security." The real reason for such secrecy is, of course, to keep the public uninformed, misinformed, and, therefore, malleable.³

Given that so much information, misinformation, disinformation, speculation, and general bullshit about UFOs is available on the Internet, one must of necessity carefully choose which material to ingest. Marchetti’s unique, informed, credible perspective should be added to the short list of must-reads.

New Theory Behind Dozens of Craters Found in Siberia

March 2, 2015 - When a massive and mysterious hole was discovered in Siberia last July (see pictures), social media users pointed to everything from a meteorite to a stray missile to aliens to the Bermuda Triangle as possible causes. But the most plausible explanation seemed to be the explosive release of melting methane hydrate—an ice-like material frozen in the Arctic ground—thanks to global warming.

Now, scientists are arguing that the methane theory is unlikely, based on new satellite surveys released by Russian researchers that found dozens of new craters in Siberia.

"The jury is still out" on the cause of Siberia's craters, says Carolyn Ruppel, chief of the U.S. Geological Survey's Gas Hydrates Project. But she and other scientists say the new satellite mapping suggests another explanation that has to do with the rapid melting of ice cores called pingos.

A pingo is a plug of ice that forms near the surface over time and has a small mound or hill on top.

When an ice plug melts rapidly—as many have been, thanks to unseasonably warm temperatures in Siberia over the past year—it can cause part of the ground to collapse, forming a crater. But that process alone isn't enough to explain the ejected rocks that have been found around the rim of the craters, which suggest some sort of explosion.

Instead, Ruppel theorizes that the craters were formed by a sudden release of natural gas that had been stored in the permafrost but was kept under pressure by the weight of the pingo.

This theory is bolstered by the Russian satellite data, which show pingos—they appear as small mounds—in the exact positions where the craters later formed.

There are many more pingos across Siberia, as well as on Alaska's North Slope, so there's substantial risk of additional craters opening up as the planet continues to warm, Ruppel says.

Until this week, scientists had known about only three of the craters. In November, scientists from the Russian Centre of Arctic Exploration donned climbing gear and explored one of them, which was 54 feet (16.5 meters) deep.

But in response to the discovery of more holes, Moscow-based scientist Vasily Bogoyavlensky has called for an "urgent investigation" of the holes amid safety fears, since oil and gas operations are not far from the craters on Russia's remote Yamal Peninsula, in northern Siberia.

Bogoyavlensky, who is deputy director of Russia's Oil and Gas Research Institute, told Russian media this week that at least seven craters have now been detected by satellites, including one large hole that is surrounded by as many as 20 smaller craters. Two of the previously discovered craters have developed into lakes.

But Ruppel says methane hydrates are found only in permafrost on land at about 740 feet (225 meters) or deeper, which is much deeper than any of the observed craters (which are around 50 feet, or 15 meters, deep).

Plasma-driven satellites launched from Cape Canaveral

Two communications satellites blasted off Sunday aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, kicking off more than a half-year of novel maneuvers in orbit using plasma drive engines to position the spacecraft 22,300 miles above Earth and link the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Loaded with payloads for Eutelsat and Asia Broadcast Satellite, the Falcon 9 rocket started up its nine kerosene-fueled engines, passed an automated computer-run health check, and soared away from Cape Canaveral at 10:50 p.m. EST Sunday (0350 GMT Monday). The 22-story launcher steered due east from Florida’s Space Coast, casting an orange glow across a hazy moonlit sky as it climbed through the atmosphere atop 1.3 million pounds of ground-shaking thrust.

The slender white launcher, capped with an aerodynamic shroud covering the mission’s two satellite payloads, surpassed the speed of sound 73 seconds after liftoff. The booster’s nine Merlin engines cut off just shy of the mission’s three-minute mark, following by staging and ignition of a single-engine upper stage for the first of two firings on Sunday’s flight.

The rocket’s composite payload shroud jettisoned moments later, and the Falcon 9’s second stage engine switched off after accelerating to orbital velocity about nine minutes into the flight.

The engine fired again after a 17-minute coast phase as the Falcon 9 transited the Atlantic Ocean, then the rocket began a carefully-choreographed sequence to deploy the pair of two-ton satellites — first the ABS 3A spacecraft, then the Eutelsat 115 West B bird five minutes later.

The satellites reached a “supersynchronous” transfer orbit stretching up to 63,000 kilometers (39,146 miles) above Earth, with a low point of about 410 kilometers (254 miles) and an inclination of 24.8 degrees, according to Ken Betaharon, chief technology officer for ABS, which is based in Hong Kong and Bermuda.

The mission marked the first time SpaceX launched two large satellites in one flight, and the procedure was also the debut of a patented tandem payload stack developed by Boeing, which manufactured the Eutelsat 115 West B and ABS 3A spacecraft.

SpaceX bypassed an experimental booster flyback tried on previous Falcon 9 launches. The satellite duo on Sunday’s launch, with a combined weight of more than 9,000 pounds,  required the full measure of the Falcon 9’s propellant load.

The Falcon 9 released the satellites in an on-target orbit, and officials declared the launch a success, completing SpaceX third satellite delivery mission of the year and the medium-class rocket’s 16th mission overall.

Two more Falcon 9 launches are on track for liftoff in the next six weeks.

SpaceX’s next launch is set for March 21 with the TurkmenAlem52E/MonacoSat communications satellite built by Thales Alenia Space of France on behalf of the government of Turkmenistan.

The company’s next resupply mission to the International Space Station is due for launch around April 10.

Next up for the Eutelsat and ABS satellites is a series of intricate maneuvers to raise their orbits using only xenon-fueled ion thrusters, a design innovation incorporated for the first time into the tandem payloads launched Sunday.

The two spacecraft mark the debut for a new lightweight platform called the Boeing 702SP, which differs from other communications satellite designs with the removal of the large fuel tank that forms the core of most spacecraft.

Half of the weight of most communications satellites is taken up with fuel, sometimes carrying up to 5,000 pounds of liquid propellant for in-space maneuvers. The innovation of the Boeing 702SP allows satellite operators to order smaller spacecraft that can host extra communications capacity to replace the mass freed up with the removal of the fuel tanks, said Mark Spiwak, president of Boeing Satellite Systems International Inc.

“One of the big drivers was cost,” Spiwak said. “We’re able to get the launch cost significantly reduced, get more payload mass to orbit, and reduce the overall cycle time of (building each satellite).”

ABS 3A had a launch weight of about 4,400 pounds and rode in the upper position inside the Falcon 9 rocket’s nose cone. Eutelsat 115 West B was a little heavier at about 4,850 pounds, comprising a beefier central structure to help support the weight of the ABS spacecraft riding on top.

Large communications satellites built by Boeing and other companies have used electric propulsion before, but the spacecraft have always carried chemical rocket fuel to supplement their ion engines.

Without the need for liquid fuel, each satellite weighs less than 5,000 pounds. Betaharon said a spacecraft with comparable capabilities would weigh more than 8,000 pounds without the all-electric propulsion system.

With the reduced weight at launch, two lighter payloads can ride into orbit together on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, which is only powerful enough to loft one large telecommunications satellite at a time.

“The real driver for that lighter solution was to be able to stack two commercial communications satellites on top of each other and provide a dual launch,” said Mike Connelly, director of Boeing’s product line for the new 702SP platform. “When you look at the mass of a satellite, with kind of a classic satellite system, it’s dominated by the fuel load of the direct-to-orbit mission.

“Going to an all-electric system, you’re able to reduce the fuel load by almost a factor of 10,” Connelly said. “That fuel load reduction allowed us to stack the satellites on top of each other, and give the customers a two-for-one deal on the launch costs.”

Sunday’s launch was the first time Eutelsat or ABS flew a satellite with SpaceX, which has scooped up dozens of commercial launch contracts after undercutting the prices of competitors and logging successful flights to demonstrate the reliability of the global launch industry’s newest big player.

The Falcon 9’s delivery of the Eutelsat and ABS satellites to orbit Sunday also notched the first of at least a half-dozen launches this year with commercial communications payloads.

“SpaceX has a bunch of really bright young people,” Betaharon said in an interview with Spaceflight Now. “They need a little more experience, but to be fair to them, I think they have really worked very hard to accommodate us.

“They need a little bit more experience in planning … With these guys, they often have to make real-time decisions in their next steps and schedule, but I think that’s going to slowly disappear once they have enough launches behind them,” Betaharon said. “They are, like I said, a bunch of bright young people, and we’ve been here to support them. They need a little bit of adult supervision, but otherwise they are OK. But I think they are really hard-working people and very accommodating.”

The deal Eutelsat and ABS got for Sunday’s launch proved too good to pass up, and officials announced in March 2012 the selection of Boeing to build the satellites and SpaceX to launch them.

Eutelsat and ABS paid less than $30 million a piece to launch their satellites on the Falcon 9, a benefit of the SpaceX launcher’s bargain prices and Boeing’s effort to shrink the mass of communications spacecraft, officials said.

Such a low price for the launch of a communications satellite is “almost unheard of,” according to Betaharon, a satellite industry veteran with more than 35 years of experience.

Another tandem Falcon 9 launch with Eutelsat and ABS spacecraft is scheduled before the end of 2015.

The downside of relying on ion thrusters to reshape the spacecraft’s orbit is it takes much longer — six months for ABS 3A and eight months for Eutelsat 115 West B — for the satellites to reach their final locations in geostationary orbit.

Compare that to less than a month for communications satellites with conventional liquid propellant.

“The advantage you get with xenon-ion is very high ISP (specific impulse, or efficiency), but the consequence is that the thrust is low and it takes longer to get from the transfer orbit to geosynchronous orbit,” Connelly said. “The basic science of the transfer orbit doesn’t change, it’s just the amount of time to get through the orbit-raising period.”

The thrusters are the same as the units flown on previous Boeing satellites, and they work by consuming xenon gas, using electricity to ionize the propellant, the spitting out plasma at high speed. The thrust delivered by the four engines on each satellite is comparable to the pressure exerted by holding a piece of paper, but the upside is the thrusters can fire nearly continuously.

ABS 3A’s destination is at 3 degrees west longitude, blanketing the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East with television programming, Internet services, cellular backhaul, and maritime communications capacity.

“If everything goes well, and we have no issues with the electric thrusters, it should be in orbit and operational around the end of August or the beginning of September timeframe and last for about 22 years,” Betaharon said.

The ABS payload hosts 24 C-band and 24 Ku-band transponders, replacing and extending communications coverage currently provided by the ABS 3 satellite, which launched in 1997 and is nearing the end of its life.

“Virtually every geographic market you can see from that location, we are covering it with C- and Ku-band,” Betaharon said. “Also, the Ku-band beam covering Europe allows us to have a trans-Atlantic coverage from Europe to North America. That can be used for navigation or for other in-flight connections.

“Every service you can imagine that can be provided via satellite can be provided with this one,” Betaharon said. “We’ve got a very high-performance satellite, and the beams are very powerful, and some of the capacity is already spoken for ahead of time.”

The Eutelsat 115 West B satellite will slide into a parking slot at 114.9 degrees west longitude over Latin America.

“The launch of the next-generation Eutelsat 115 West B satellite is a milestone that will position us as a major satellite operator across the continent,” said Patricio Northland, CEO of Eutelsat Americas. “It will transform the 114.9 degrees west orbital position that is already a neighborhood of choice for fast-growing high-speed data and mobility markets in North and South America.”

Eutelsat acquired the spacecraft launched Sunday with the French operator’s purchase of Mexico’s Satmex in 2014. Satmex originally negotiated the satellite’s manufacturing and launch deals with Boeing, SpaceX and ABS in 2012.

“This satellite will address data services, including broadband access, cellular backhaul, VSAT solutions and social connectivity,” said Michel de Rosen, CEO of Eutelsat.

The new satellite — fitted with 34 Ku-band and 12 C-band transponders — will replace a former Satmex spacecraft launched in December 1998 and reach customers in a wide swath of the Americas from Alaska to Patagonia. It also carries an instrument package for the Federal Aviation Administration to improve air navigation over the United States.

Eutelsat says it is the first of five new spacecraft the company expects to launch this year.

To survive we must leave earth...

As the way earth is going we are directing ourselves and our planet to extinction. As now a days we
have the global warming really quickly, we all have seen it and eventually the sun will accelerate global warming to a point where all of Earth's water will simply evaporate. In a billion years from now the Earth will be a very hot, dry and uninhabitable place.  We have extreme climate changes that leave everyone with the mouth wide open all year long. The world population is expanding at exponential rate what leads us to diminishing natural resources vital to our survival and no one is doing anything to replace them with sustainable alternatives or try to grow our natural resources.  Even if the humans manages not to push itself to the a nuclear war and extinction, there are thesis telling us that our aging sun will expand and swallow the planet in roughly 7.6 billion years.

Stephen Hawking said in an interview with Big Think "I believe that the long-term future of the human race must be in space.  It will be difficult enough to avoid disaster on planet Earth in the next hundred years, let alone the next thousand, or million. The human race shouldn't have all its eggs in one basket, or on one planet. Let's hope we can avoid dropping the basket until we have spread the load." 

Hawking says he is an optimist, but as in the recent past, humankind's survival has been nothing short of "a question of touch and go" he says, citing the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1963 as one example of how we narrowly escaped extinction. According to the Federation of American Scientists there are still about 22,600 stockpiled nuclear weapons scattered around the planet, 7,770 of which are still operational.  Because of this the threat of a nuclear holocaust has not subsided. Probably the frequency of nuclear weapon use in the future will increase, because every country that has power will be fighting for the resources that they let die in the first place. The nuclear weapon threat and even use will be our everyday bread.  Every country wants power, resources and want to live, which will be really difficult with everything that is adding up to this time ticking bomb that we let our planet become.  We just hope that the negotiations are taken with care and judgment or the years remaining on our planet are going to be less that we think now.  

Hawking also said that between next thousand years it will take man to make the planet uninhabitable and the billion years it will take for the sun to turn our planet into an arid wasteland, there is always the chance in the middle that a nearby supernova, an asteroid,  a black hole could do us in. 

So the future is not so bright for our planet between global warming, contamination, increased population, nuclear weapons, natural resources reduction and every human being not caring for what really matters instead of oil, money and power.  We must do something now, because sadly finding another habitable planet to live in is far from reality. Just saying that the nearest star Proxima Centauri is 4.2 light years away, so to travel to it we have to be flying at the speed of light for 4.2 years. Obliously we are far from light travel for 4.2 years with a craft full of humans.  If we travel in chemical fuel rockets we have use the trip would take about 50,000 years, so no humans will survive this journey. Sadly we are in the path to extintion faster than we ever think of...

Oké, het rotsachtige gedeelte van Pluto is natuurlijk veel kleiner dan de onze planeet aarde. Zelfs kleiner dan onze maan. Maar als we de atmosfeer meerekenen, dan liggen de kaarten plots anders.

Planeten hebben atmosferen, ook dwergplaneten als Pluto. Hoe ver de atmosfeer van Pluto precies reikt, is moeilijk te meten. Maar uit onderstaand beeld blijkt dat Pluto mét atmosfeer plots groter is dan onze aarde mét dampkring. NASA-wetenschapper Michael Summers postte de tekening vorige week op de blog van New Horizons (over een missie naar Pluto), waar hij aan meewerkt.

"Als we de atmosfeer van Pluto definiëren zoals we dat met die van de aarde doen, dan is de buitenkant van die van Pluto minstens zeven keer diens radius boven de oppervlakte. Dat betekent dat het volume van Pluto's atmosfeer meer dan 350 keer dat van Pluto zelf is! Dit illustreert wat voor een vreemde en wonderlijke nieuwe wereld we gaan binnentreden en verkennen."

En dit is dan nog een bescheiden schatting. Pluto's atmosfeer zou weleens nóg groter kunnen zijn dan op deze foto. Het is wachten op de bevindingen van New Horizons om daarover uitsluitsel te krijgen.

Woman Takes A Video Of A Triangle-Shaped UFO Over Mississippi

As most parts of North Mississippi were being dumped by snow, one woman claims she saw something that should not be part of a winter. Paranormal investigator Angela Ashton believes she saw a UFO. Ashton, a certified member of Cryptic Shadows Paranormal Research, says she ran outside when she saw the object to get a video of it.

Ashton says that the UFO was at least of the same size of a football field. According to her report, she was laying in her bed when she saw a huge, bright blinding light through a huge window of her bedroom.

Ashton says that the strange object hovered silently as she recorded it above a nearby field on Craft Road in Lewisburg, Mississippi. When she can’t resist the cold outside, she ran inside. She then saw the object shot up and vanished.

The 15-year-old witness claims she has been seeing things she can’t explain but for her, this is the first one worthy of reporting. She reveals that she has been witnessing bright lights in a similar location for several nights in the past couple of days, but all of them were not compelling to encourage her to run outside and record the activity.

It was only when the craft was much brighter, much closer and very visible when she decided to run outside at 12:46AM CST and started filming. Because of her excitement, she ran on a barefoot and stayed in the snow for a short time while filming the large UFO.

The object had hovered for approximately 20 minutes before it disappeared, according to the witness. She saw the lights pulsating and appeared to glow a red color at times. She described the shape of the craft as triangular, and because it was hovering so low, she saw the object clearly, like a 3D effect. She further claims that she saw the large UFO ejecting smaller orb lights, but not clear from her vantage point.

UFOs debated in Schuylkill Haven

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — A group of people interested in learning more about unidentified flying objects met Saturday.

They were there to learn more about the Mutual UFO Network. The organization began in 1969 and MUFON’s goals, according to its website, are to “investigate UFO sightings and collect the data in the MUFON database for use by researchers worldwide, promote research on UFOs to discover the true nature of the phenomenon, with an eye toward scientific breakthroughs, and improving life on our planet and educate the public on the UFO phenomenon and its potential impact on society.”

The company is based in Newport Beach, California, and has about 3,000 members. Using the MUFON database, one can research alleged UFO sightings. No alleged incidents are yet listed as occurring in Schuylkill County. In Pennsylvania, there are 50 listed cases. The closest such alleged sighting is in Allentown in Nov. 15, 2014, where someone claimed to have seen three black round objects flying next to each other, according to the database.

However, the approximate 40 people who attended a MUFON meeting in Schuylkill Haven at 950 E. Main St. learned that the organization gets about 30 reports every month in Pennsylvania, Bill Weber, chief investigator for the state, said.

Weber and Dan Medleycott, state section director for MUFON, talked for about 2 hours about the organization and answered questions from audience members after being invited by Bob Seltzer, president of the Seltzer Group, an insurance broker. Seltzer has been a member of MUFON for five years. A former classmate from college told him about the group.

Weber explained at the meeting how one can become a field investigator, which is someone authorized to take reports on UFO sightings. He also said there are a number of alleged sightings around the world. In January, he said, there were 721 global sightings. Of those, he said, 575 were for suspected extraterrestrial-related UFO sightings reported to MUFON. For example, in California in January there were 90 such reports, he said. Pennsylvania had 29 that were reported to the MUFON headquarters in California.

“Each case gets the same level of investigation,” Weber said.

Medleycott told attendees about attempts to get information on purported sightings.

Weber said there were no landings reported in January “or entities observed. We get those too.”

He urged those in the audience and the wider public to report anything suspicious to MUFON at www.mufon.com.

“Others talk. But we investigate them (the alleged incidents),” he said.

Joining MUFON is not for the faint of heart, Medleycott and Weber said.

“We start getting involved in this stuff and all the sudden I start to hear clicking on my cellphone,” Weber said.

He does not think we are alone in this universe.

“They’re here. They’ve been here. There is some agenda,” he said of what they call extraterrestrial biological entities.

When asked to clarify, Weber said, the beings are here somewhere on the planet. He realizes that people might be skeptical about what he believes or what MUFON does but said it is unrealistic to think we are alone in the universe. He is not aware of any reported sightings in Schuylkill County or UFOs or otherwise. He did say that a woman said she was abducted by something at Washington Crossing State Park in Bucks County about 10 years ago and he believes her.

Tom Mohan, 63, of Schuylkill Haven, came out to learn more about the unknown.

“I’m interested in what might be out there,” he said.

He does not believe that we are alone in the universe.

“We can’t be that naive,” he said.

A women in Leicestershire, England awoke on February 3 to find two UFOs hovering in the sky near her home in the town of Earl Shilton.

The witness claims she got out of bed at approximately 4:50 a.m. that morning to investigate strange noises. She ventured downstairs, but, after finding nothing, she decided to return to bed. And that is when she noticed two bright lights through the window that appeared to be floating in the sky over nearby Barwell.

She managed to record twenty seconds of video showing the two UFOs that reportedly “kept merging into one and moving side to side.” The lights allegedly shot off together at an incredible speed.

The sighting is being investigated by the Leicestershire UFO Investigation Network (Lufoin). “We don’t have a clue at the minute,” says investigator Joanne Kavanagh. “We are trying to rule out whether it was an aircraft – we know it wasn’t anything to do with a police helicopter and we are still waiting to hear from the air ambulance.”

She explains to the Hinckley Times, “A lot of incidents can be linked to Chinese lanterns or drones but I don’t believe the orbs moved in the same way.”

Amazing Cloaked UFOs Photographed in Logansport, Indiana

In Logansport Indiana on a partly cloudy day the colorful object appeared in the blue part of the cloudless sky around 3:00 on February 4, 2015. We didn’t notice the additional objects until the pictures were developed.
  

First noticed it at 3rd & Market intersection while stopped at a stoplight heading east. My wife took the pictures, from out the side door (The window was rolled down). 

 

My wife and I seen the objects several blocks ahead. The best view of it was when drove east a couple blocks from the right lane. I was shocked and fascinated at the same time. I drove under the approximate sighting area and that’s when I lost sight of it. Mufon case 63671.

Huge UFO Spotted On SOHO image – Mar 2015 (Video)

An unusually gigantic UFO-like object was spotted near the sun on NASA’s Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) This isn’t the first UFO seen orbiting the Sun but it’s certainly one of the most remarkable Unidentified Flying Objects.
  

As always, there is much debate whether it is a UFO or not. I came across an article published by NASA in 2003/1/17.

According to NASA “Most commonly, UFO claims are due to perfectly natural flaws or artifacts in our publicly available data and images, having gone through a strikingly similar “enhancement” used to “prove” the existence of UFOs.”

NASA: “Ever since launch, there’s been a number of people who’ve claimed to have seen flying saucers and other esoteric objects in SOHO images. Although some of these supposed pictures of UFOs can seem quite intriguing, they have always turned out to have a quite ordinary cause when examined by experienced SOHO scientists.”

“In recent days, we’ve been receiving so many questions and claims that we’d like to set the record straight: We’ve never seen anything that even suggests that there are UFOs “out there”.

“In the past we’ve been accused of “covering up” UFO evidence when we present our explanations, and of “refusing to comment” (or “clamming up”) when we give up on somebody who won’t accept our explanations.”

NASA continues: “Yes, this was a picture from SOHO, but didn’t show any UFO! We believe similar “enhancements”, possibly starting with other types of image artifacts (see below for details), are behind all of the recently published “UFO proof” claims. Claims without the time and date of the picture(s) are close to worthless, because the data processing cannot be verified by others.”
 

Despite NASA’s explanation and their attempt to damage the credibility of the UFO community the object, as shown on the SOHO LASCO C3 image of 2015/03/01 see first image and video below, is not enhanced or manipulated, it is not related or connected to a solar event or CME, it is a stand-alone object, even, it has a solid structure which makes me believe that this object is more than just a natural flaw or artifact.

There is a secret space war going on?

Once again strange objects falling out of the sky after a mysterious fireball explodes over Kerala in India.

The sighting of suspected fireball-like phenomenon, reportedly accompanied with booming sound in some cases, triggered panic across the city and its suburbs on Friday night.

As news spread like wildfire, people came out of their homes in droves in many places with their eyes cast towards the sky. Similar sightings were reported from many parts of the city such as Vyttila, Kakkanad, Vypeen, Palarivattom, and Kathrikkadavu and even from suburbs such as Paravur, Kizhakkambalam, Mazhuvannoor, Kolancherry and Fort Kochi.

According to TheHindu, Aneesha and Sumesh who were at a restaurant at Fort Kochi claimed to have sighted a lit-up sky reminiscent of fireworks at around 10 p.m. “The sky soon turned blue as it happens just before rain. We felt as if it happened very close to us.

Fire units were dispatched from the Gandhi Nagar unit following panic-stricken calls from residents at Vyttila. However, their officials could not trace any visible evidence of a drop of fireball to the earth.
 

There are also reports that people found strange-looking stones from Kuruppampadi near Perumbavur and Akkampara near Kolancherry, writesManoramaOnline.

And a metallic strip looking like a part an aluminum pot was recovered from Poochakkal near Cherthala.

Samples have been collected from two sites–one each in Mazhuvannur and Karumaloor villages from where reports of objects falling out of the sky, district collector M.G. Rajamanickam told The Hindu.

Prof. Joe Jacob, faculty member, Department of Physics, Newman College, Thodupuzha, pointed towards the involvement of a meteor. “However, that conclusion is purely going by the witness accounts and cannot be scientifically confirmed,” he said.

Sunken Pyramids and Sphinxes: Was Atlantis Discovered in the Bermuda Triangle? 

 Scientists Paul Weinzweig and Pauline Zalitzki have discovered some unusual structures while working off the coast of Cuba. The structures were found with the aid of sonar and robot submersibles at a depth of about 2,200 feet (670 meters), smack in the middle of the infamous Bermuda Triangle.

Samples that we recovered from the ocean bottom have justified our structures that we call megalithic structures. The samples are granite stone, completely polished, with some incrustations of fossils. Fossils of organic creatures that normally live on the surface, not on the ocean bottom. This is very interesting because this is evidence that the whole surface sank to the depth of 700 meters (2,297 feet, or about a half mile down),” Zalitzki was quoted as saying.

Among the sunken ruins, the researchers identified several sphinxes and at least four giant pyramids, all of them larger than the ones in the Giza plateau.

Their report indicates the ancient city was flooded by rising waters while the land was sinking into the sea. These events most likely happened at the end of the last Ice Age, around 12,000 years ago. At the moment, this theory supports the legend of Atlantis.

So why haven’t we heard about it? Why are there no documentaries, expeditions to the area and museum exhibits showcasing the findings?

Well, according to journalist Luis Mariano Fernandez, the city had been discovered decades ago and access to the site was cut off during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The U.S. government discovered the alleged place during the Cuban missile crisis in the sixties. Nuclear submarines cruising in the Gulf (in deep sea) met pyramid structures. They immediately shut down the site and took control of him [sic] and the objects, in order that it will not come to Russians hands.” 

Using a remotely operated underwater vehicle, Weinzweig and Zalitzki discovered huge pyramid structures that were similar, albeit much larger than Egyptian ones.

They believe the stones used in the construction of these megalithic monuments had to be very large, perhaps weighing several hundred tons. However, mainstream science does not admit to the existence of advanced technology in prehistoric times. Something is amiss here.

“It has been confirmed that the stones were cut, carved and polished to make them fit together and thus form larger structures. On the strange inscriptions, some of them similar to Egyptian hieroglyphics, very little is known, except that they are very abundant and found in almost all parts of the field. There have also appeared symbols and drawings whose meaning is unknown,” writes Fernandez.

Zalitzki has found similar symbols on the island of Cuba and she believes they are identical to those found engraved on the underwater structures. Interestingly enough, legends of the primitive cultures (such as the Olmecs) in the northern part of Central America tell how their ancestors came from Atlanticú, an island that sank during a cataclysm.

Several archaeologists have stated that the Olmecs might have devolved from the Atlantean survivors, the remnants of their superior culture fading during the course of thousands of years. Atlantis only survived in their mythology and through a passing reference made by Plato.

It is worth noting that many unconventional historians believe there is a strong connection between the Atlanteans and the ancient Egyptians. They believe the Egyptian culture was influenced, even guided by the survivors of the Atlantis catastrophe.

Their claims appear to be supported by the discovery of pyramids and sphinxes off the coast of Cuba and corroborated by legends from all around the world.

However, until complete evidence (re)surfaces, we are left to speculate, as we always have.
