“Mogelijke ontdekking oude Mayastad door Canadese tiener is indrukwekkend, sceptici zijn jaloers”
Op 9 mei kreeg de wereld te horen dat een Canadese tiener een Mayastad had ontdekt op basis van de theorie dat de Maya’s hun steden bouwden aan de hand van sterrenbeelden.
William Gadoury, amper 15 jaar oud, had gezien dat sommige reeds ontdekte Mayasteden bijzonder ver van een rivier waren gebouwd, in moeilijk toegankelijke bergen, of op vruchtbare grond. Niet logisch, vond hij. Daar moest een verklaring voor zijn.
Hij analyseerde 22 sterrenbeelden van de Maya’s. Toen hij alle sterren met elkaar verbond op een kaart, zag hij dat de contouren overeenkwamen met liefst 117 Mayasteden. Iets wat geen enkele wetenschapper voordien bedacht had.
Hersenspinsels van creatieve geesten
Toen hij het 23e sterrenbeeld bestudeerde, werd het nog interessanter. Hij verbond de sterren met elkaar, maar merkte dat er een stad ontbrak. Met satellietfoto’s van de NASA slaagde hij er vervolgens in de ontbrekende stad te ontwaren in de zone van het sterrenbeeld. Wetenschappers waren diep onder de indruk.
Voorlopig is nog niemand de jungle ingegaan om de stad in werkelijkheid te gaan bekijken. William heeft zijn werk overhandigd aan twee Mexicaanse archeologen, maar die zijn nog niet afgereisd naar de plek waar de onontdekte Mayastad zou moeten staan.
Na de ontdekking kwamen verschillende wetenschappers aan het woord in de media die zeiden dat het nieuws op een misvatting berust. De Amerikaanse astronoom Anthony Aveni stelt dat het leggen van een verband tussen moderne sterrenkaarten en een groot aantal door de mens gerealiseerde bouwwerken niets meer is dan hersenspinsels van creatieve geesten.
Puur per toeval
“De geografische locaties van bouwwerken op aarde bepalen middels sterrenkaarten is een typisch modern westers concept,” aldus Aveni, toevoegende dat de kosmos zeker een rol speelde in de locatiekeuze van bepaalde bouwwerken, maar niet met de nauwkeurigheid zoals Gadoury nu claimt.
Aveni durft alleen niet hardop te zeggen dat de tiener fout zit. De astronoom prijst het initiatief van de tiener en zei te hopen dat hij subsidie krijgt om zijn werk verder te ontwikkelen.

Ook Francisco Estrada-Belli van de National Geographic Society, die gespecialiseerd is in Maya-archeologie, zei dat er op basis van de huidige satellietbeelden nog geen uitsluitsel is te geven. Hij voegde toe geen piramides te kunnen ontwaren.
De specialist sluit ook niet uit dat Gadoury de stad puur per toeval vond. “Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat er nog honderden Mayasteden ontdekt moeten worden,” zei hij. “Ze bevinden zich overal. Als je je vinger op een willekeurige plek op de kaart van het gebied legt, is de kans aanzienlijk dat zich in de buurt een stad bevindt.”
Jaloers
Hoe dan ook is duidelijk geworden dat de positie van de overige 117 Mayasteden precies overeenkomt met de vorm van de sterrenbeelden van de Maya’s, schrijft Alejandro Azcárate voor de Yucatan Times. De experts die de jonge Canadees in diskrediet brengen zijn volgens hem vooral jaloers en komen niet met wetenschappelijke argumenten.

While searching for the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) UFO files, a researcher using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), recently received the FAA’s procedures for taking UFO reports.
John Greenewald runs TheBlackVault.com, a website where he posts the millions of pages of government files he has received via FOIA requests. He began seeking these files when he was still a high school student in 1996.

In April, Greenewald sent a FOIA request asking for their UFO files.
Specifically, Greenewald wrote: “I respectfully request a copy of records, electronic or otherwise, of ALL FAA manuals, regulations and publications – that deal with, or mention, Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and/or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena and/or Unexplained Phenomena, and/or any other derivative that may be used the your agency. This would include, but not be limited to, all manuals, publications and/or instructions that pertain to pilots (commercial or otherwise), Air Traffic Controllers, or employees of the FAA.”
The first page provided comes from the “Safety, Accident, and Hazard Reports” section of the manual. Section 7-6-4, deals with reporting UFOs.

It states:
a. Persons wanting to report UFO/unexplained phenomena activity should contact a UFO/unexplained phenomena reporting data collection center, such as the National UFO Reporting Center, etc.
b. If concern is expressed that life or property might be endangered, report the activity to the local law enforcement department.
Another page of the manual is also included. Section 8 of the manual appears to be dedicated to UFO reports. However, it just repeats the same verbiage found in 7-6-4.

Incidentally, a “Section 8” is also the term for a military discharge due to being deemed mentally unfit for service. I was once told by a man claiming to have worked for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) at Cheyenne Mountain while in the Air Force, they also called UFOs caught on radar a “Section 8s.”
Either way, these few pages from the AIM document are all Greenewald was sent.
In the past, the FAA also has referred people Bigelow Aerospace to report UFO sightings (including myself), and the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena (NARCAP). The prior, Bigelow Aerospace, has since been preoccupied with an inflatable space module that is now being tested on the International Space Station. So it is no surprise they are not listed anymore. However, the later, NARCAP, still focuses on pilot reports.
The UFO reporting organization mentioned, the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), is a one man show ran out of Davenport, Washington. NUFORC was founded in 1974, and is currently ran by Peter Davenport, who took over in 1994.
There are many stories of the FAA receiving UFO reports, so it is a little strange that these few pages are all that Greenewald received. I asked Greenewald if he was disappointed.
“It is a little disappointing, but not necessarily a surprise,” Greenewald responded. “Just because the term ‘UFO’ does not appear in a manual or regulation, that doesn’t necessarily mean that a pilot or FAA official has not reported anything of substance. I don’t take the outcome of this FOIA request as the final answer, and I am still pursuing other avenues to see if that agency has any other documents that we should know about.”

Greenewald, an experienced, and persistent, FOIA user, plans to pursue other avenues to attempt to ferret out more UFO secrets from the FAA.
“I think it is very likely that there are other records to be found, but what is very difficult about the Freedom of Information Act, and the FAA specifically, is that there are quite a few regional offices and locations that the documents could exist at,” Greenewald explained. “It is not uncommon for an agency that large, with so many places to look, to make it very difficult to find records. You essentially have to file a request to each and every regional location or branch. That does not mean I haven’t, or won’t, just saying that it does make it that much more difficult.”
Greenewald points out that although the FAA seems to have no interest in UFOs, they probably should.
“It’s concerning that the FAA is not interested in a ‘UFO’ report. Why wouldn’t they be? In this day and age we live in, I would think that something unidentified in the sky would, and should, be of great interest.”
Especially, if pilots are reporting UFOs over one of the busiest airports in the United States, like in one of the most famous, and credible, UFO sightings related to commercial air travel. Watch the videos below for more on that.

A Texas witness at White Settlement recalled a UFO encounter from 1965 near Carswell Air Force Base, according to testimony in Case 75096 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was outside lying on a blanket “less than two miles west of the centerline of what was then Carswell AFB” on July 7, 1965.

“I noticed an object approaching from the south just above the treetops,” the witness stated.“The object was triangular in shape and that shape was defined by the three lights…one located at each angle of the triangle.”
Three things caught the witnesses’ attention.
“The lights were in no configuration of any of the conventional aircraft I was accustomed to seeing fly into and out of the AFB. The object made no noise at all. Its size was enormous.”
The witness noticed that the flight path was going to take the object directly overhead.
“It was moving slowly, much more slowly than any conventional aircraft could fly if on final approach for a landing at the AFB. I estimate it could have been traveling no more than 30 mph. As it approached I was trying to see details. I could discern nothing beyond the general shape confirmed by the stars that were masked behind the object’s triangular shape and the unusual pattern the lights were flashing.”

The witness described the lights.
“Each light was round and each of the three flashed one of three colors…red, blue or white. The lights weren’t brilliant, but somewhat diffuse as if they were contained in some kind of domed housing with a frosted lens similar to an incandescent light bulb one would use in their house. The lights flashed randomly with the only actual pattern being that no two lights were ever the same color and there was no discernible sequence to the colors the lights flashed. When I use the word flash, it was not an instantaneous change, but a short term fade from one color to another. I had never seen lighting change color or flash on conventional aircraft in a similar manner.”
The witness had seen strange lights in the sky previously.
“I had seen strange lights and ‘green flashes’ in and around the AFB all my life, but this phenomenon was completely different from anything I had seen before. I was excited while I waited for the object to pass directly overhead.”
The object finally moved directly overhead.
“It passed slowly over my head with the complete passage of the craft from the forward ‘point’ (the object never wavered or rotated,but kept the same angle of its shape pointed due north as near as I could tell without consulting a compass) to the base taking about two seconds.”
The witness wondered about the object’s altitude.
“I tried to get a feeling for its altitude, but there was no helpful frame of reference except the treetops. I mentally established 500 feet, but that was arbitrary. There was absolutely no noise. Even the night insects and creatures that I’d heard prior to the passage of the object made no sounds. There was no feeling of static electricity or electromagnetic interference present when the object flew over me or at any other time.”

The witness was not alone.
“Even though I was with others during the encounter, I did not alert anyone else on the off chance they might interfere with my complete attention while observing the object. I also didn’t mention the observation to anyone else that night. Having read the reports of previous year’s sightings I thought I would wait until I saw the papers the next day to see if anyone else reported any unusual sightings. The next day sightings were reported throughout the southwest. I never wrote anything down until now and only wanted to insure MUFON had this information to use in its work. Thank you for permitting me to finally report my observations.”

Stash of Nuclear Weapons Links To British UFO Encounter
A former police officer has come forward saying that aliens in the famous British UFO encounter were curious to know the secret stash of nuclear weapons.
Gary Heseltine has made the revelations after officers claimed to have spotted a UFO at RAF Bentwaters travelling around 120 miles in eight seconds.
The astonishing information came from a former cop, who believes he can shed new light on Britain’s infamous UFO case.
Gary Heseltine, 56, claimed a UFO activity took place at RAF Bentwaters as space aliens were interested at the American airbase because of a secret stash of nuclear weapons in there.
The strange event, which eventually known as the British Roswell, has sparked several books and documentaries after it had made the front page of the now-defunct News of the World.
Gary, who worked for nearly 24 years in the British Transport Police, claimed deputy base commander Colonel Charles Halt told him the airbase in Suffolk had the biggest arsenal of Europe’s nuclear weapons.
In late December 1980, UFOs allegedly visited Rendlesham Forest and the USAF base nearby.
Staff Sergeant Jim Penniston said he touched a small triangular craft and described it as smooth to touch with Egyptian hieroglyphs-like symbol before it went away.
Col Halt formed a small team of experts and went into the woods when the unidentified flying object came back two nights later. He then created a 20-minute tape recording describing the thing as like a red winking eye.
Halt also filed a memo stating the details of the incident to the British Ministry of Defence, which was released years later under the Freedom of Information Act.
The UFO reportedly fired beams of light into the weapons storage area, a military term to refer nuclear bunkers.
Retired detective Gary claimed Col Halt told him that RAF Bentwaters had the largest weapons storage area in the entire Europe.
If "the truth is out there," as they say on "The X-Files" TV show, Hillary Clinton says she's eager to expose it.
No, she's not talking about her controversial email server, although an FBI investigation is looking into that too.
She's talking about UFOs or, as she corrected Jimmy Kimmel when he recently asked her on his late-night TV show about possible visitors from other planets, "unexplained aerial phenomena" — or UAP.
"That's the latest nomenclature," she said, scoring points, no doubt, with UFO — or UAP — enthusiasts.
Barring any threats to national security, the former secretary of state said, she would open up government files on little green visitors or whoever else may have paid us a visit from other planets.
It would be easier, I suppose, than opening up the texts to her high-priced speeches to Goldman Sachs, as requested by her Democratic rival for the presidency, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
She also has been more excited about UFOs — or UAPs — than President Barack Obama, who tends to treat the subject as a rich source of amusement.
That's just how Josh Earnest, White House press secretary, treated the subject in a recent media briefing. Citing a New York Times story about Clinton's vow to "get to the bottom" of the "UFO and the Area 51 conspiracy," CBS News correspondent Mark Knoller asked whether the president would "beat her to the punch" by showing some transparency on this issue "which is of concern to a lot of Americans."
Area 51, in case you also just arrived from Mars (welcome, by the way, and please don't eat us), is a remote, supersecret section of an Air Force base in Nevada rumored to be the resting place of captured flying saucers, alien corpses and other wonders depicted in sci-fi movies such as "Independence Day" (1996) or "Paul" (2011).
"I have to admit," Earnest said earnestly, "I don't have a tab in my briefing book for Area 51."
"Because it has been taken out?" one reporter asked.
"Maybe it has," said Earnest with a smile. "Part of a grand conspiracy."
Conspiracy theorists will have to wait. Earnest said he was "not aware of any plans the president has to make public any information about" extraterrestrial life forms.
But Obama has noted cheerfully that access to the so-called UFO files was one of the more attractive perks of the presidency. When Kimmel asked Obama about former President Bill Clinton's claims to have found nothing of note in the UFO files, Obama responded with a grin and said, "That's what we're instructed to say."
Polls give a hint as to why this president and those who would like to have his job are reluctant to be skunks at the picnic of UFO conspiracy theorists. A survey commissioned by the National Geographic Channel in 2012, for example, found 80 million Americans — or slightly more than a third of the nation's adult population — who said they believed UFOs are real.
More than a third of those who were surveyed said they believed aliens have visited Earth and almost half were not sure. Only 17 percent said they did not believe so.
And asked whether they had made up their minds about the question, 77 percent thought there were signs that suggest aliens have visited Earth.
That's a large enough group to be worth wooing by presidential candidates — even if, as Kimmel pointed out to the former first lady, Bill Clinton says he already checked the UFO files and found nothing there.
"Well," she responded defiantly, "I'm gonna do it again."
Again? Maybe she thinks her husband has been keeping secrets from her. I suppose it wouldn't be the first time.
Yet as much as I favor full government transparency whenever it is possible, I don't think that opening the government's legendary UFO files will make much of a difference in this cynical age.
If secret flying saucers and alien corpses do not really exist at Area 51, I believe it still would be necessary for humanity to invent them. The prospect of being alone in this universe is too gloomy for many of us to bear.
As we have seen with various other conspiracy theories, people will believe what they want to believe, especially when the truth is far enough "out there."

NASA's Hubble Shows Milky Way is Destined for Head-On Collision
NASA astronomers announced Thursday they can now predict with certainty the next major cosmic event to affect our galaxy, sun, and solar system: the titanic collision of our Milky Way galaxy with the neighboring Andromeda galaxy.
The Milky Way is destined to get a major makeover during the encounter, which is predicted to happen four billion years from now. It is likely the sun will be flung into a new region of our galaxy, but our Earth and solar system are in no danger of being destroyed.

"Our findings are statistically consistent with a head-on collision between the Andromeda galaxy and our Milky Way galaxy," said Roeland van der Marel of the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore.
The solution came through painstaking NASA Hubble Space Telescope measurements of the motion of Andromeda, which also is known as M31. The galaxy is now 2.5 million light-years away, but it is inexorably falling toward the Milky Way under the mutual pull of gravity between the two galaxies and the invisible dark matter that surrounds them both.

"After nearly a century of speculation about the future destiny of Andromeda and our Milky Way, we at last have a clear picture of how events will unfold over the coming billions of years," said Sangmo Tony Sohn of STScI.
The scenario is like a baseball batter watching an oncoming fastball. Although Andromeda is approaching us more than 2,000 times faster, it will take 4 billion years before the strike.
Computer simulations derived from Hubble's data show that it will take an additional two billion years after the encounter for the interacting galaxies to completely merge under the tug of gravity and reshape into a single elliptical galaxy similar to the kind commonly seen in the local universe.
Although the galaxies will plow into each other, stars inside each galaxy are so far apart that they will not collide with other stars during the encounter. However, the stars will be thrown into different orbits around the new galactic center. Simulations show that our solar system will probably be tossed much farther from the galactic core than it is today.
To make matters more complicated, M31's small companion, the Triangulum galaxy, M33, will join in the collision and perhaps later merge with the M31/Milky Way pair. There is a small chance that M33 will hit the Milky Way first.

The universe is expanding and accelerating, and collisions between galaxies in close proximity to each other still happen because they are bound by the gravity of the dark matter surrounding them. The Hubble Space Telescope's deep views of the universe show such encounters between galaxies were more common in the past when the universe was smaller.
A century ago astronomers did not realize that M31 was a separate galaxy far beyond the stars of the Milky Way. Edwin Hubble measured its vast distance by uncovering a variable star that served as a "milepost marker."
Hubble went on to discover the expanding universe where galaxies are rushing away from us, but it has long been known that M31 is moving toward the Milky Way at about 250,000 miles per hour. That is fast enough to travel from here to the moon in one hour. The measurement was made using the Doppler effect, which is a change in frequency and wavelength of waves produced by a moving source relative to an observer, to measure how starlight in the galaxy has been compressed by Andromeda's motion toward us.
Previously, it was unknown whether the far-future encounter will be a miss, glancing blow, or head-on smashup. This depends on M31’s tangential motion. Until now, astronomers had not been able to measure M31's sideways motion in the sky, despite attempts dating back more than a century. The Hubble Space Telescope team, led by van der Marel, conducted extraordinarily precise observations of the sideways motion of M31 that remove any doubt that it is destined to collide and merge with the Milky Way.
"This was accomplished by repeatedly observing select regions of the galaxy over a five- to seven-year period," said Jay Anderson of STScI.
"In the worst-case-scenario simulation, M31 slams into the Milky Way head-on and the stars are all scattered into different orbits," said Gurtina Besla of Columbia University in New York, N.Y. "The stellar populations of both galaxies are jostled, and the Milky Way loses its flattened pancake shape with most of the stars on nearly circular orbits. The galaxies' cores merge, and the stars settle into randomized orbits to create an elliptical-shaped galaxy."

WASHINGTON — Space is vast, but it may not be so lonely after all: A study finds the Milky Way is teeming with billions of planets that are about the size of Earth, orbit stars just like our sun, and exist in the Goldilocks zone — not too hot and not too cold for life.
Astronomers using NASA data have calculated for the first time that in our galaxy alone, there are at least 8.8 billion stars with Earth-size planets in the habitable temperature zone.
The study was published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
For perspective, that's more Earth-like planets than there are people on Earth.
As for what it says about the odds that there is life somewhere out there, it means "just in our Milky Way galaxy alone, that's 8.8 billion throws of the biological dice," said study co-author Geoff Marcy, a longtime planet hunter from the University of California at Berkeley.
The next step, scientists say, is to look for atmospheres on these planets with powerful space telescopes that have yet to be launched. That would yield further clues to whether any of these planets do, in fact, harbor life.
The findings also raise a blaring question, Marcy said: If we aren't alone, why is "there a deafening silence in our Milky Way galaxy from advanced civilizations?"
In the Milky Way, about 1 in 5 stars that are like our sun in size, color and age have planets that are roughly Earth's size and are in the habitable zone where life-crucial water can be liquid, according to intricate calculations based on four years of observations from NASA's now-crippled Kepler telescope.

If people on Earth could only travel in deep space, "you'd probably see a lot of traffic jams," Bill Borucki, NASA's chief Kepler scientist, joked Monday.
The Kepler telescope peered at 42,000 stars, examining just a tiny slice of our galaxy to see how many planets like Earth are out there. Scientists then extrapolated that figure to the rest of the galaxy, which has hundreds of billions of stars.
For the first time, scientists calculated — not estimated — what percent of stars that are just like our sun have planets similar to Earth: 22 percent, with a margin of error of plus or minus 8 percentage points.
Kepler scientist Natalie Batalha said there is still more data to pore over before this can be considered a final figure.
There are about 200 billion stars in our galaxy, with 40 billion of them like our sun, Marcy said. One of his co-authors put the number of sun-like stars closer to 50 billion, meaning there would be at least 11 billion planets like ours.
Based on the 1-in-5 estimate, the closest Earth-size planet that is in the habitable temperature zone and circles a sun-like star is probably within 70 trillion miles of Earth, Marcy said.
And the 8.8 billion Earth-size planets figure is only a start. That's because scientists were looking only at sun-like stars, which are not the most common stars.
An earlier study found that 15 percent of the more common red dwarf stars have Earth-size planets that are close-in enough to be in the not-too-hot, not-too-cold Goldilocks Zone.
Put those together and that's probably 40 billion right-size, right-place planets, Marcy said.
And that's just our galaxy. There are billions of other galaxies.
Scientists at a Kepler science conference Monday said they have found 833 new candidate planets with the space telescope, bringing the total of planets they've spotted to 3,538, but most aren't candidates for life.
Kepler has identified only 10 planets that are about Earth's size circling sun-like stars and are in the habitable zone, including one called Kepler 69-c.
Because there are probably hundreds of planets missed for every one found, the study did intricate extrapolations to come up with the 22 percent figure — a calculation that outside scientists say is fair.
"Everything they've done looks legitimate," said MIT astronomer Sara Seager.

It has long been held to be one of the most famous UFO incidents of the 20th century, if not of all time. Due to its popularity, a variety of opinions and interpretations about what happened in Rendlesham Forest in late December, 1980, have been offered; and the result has been a seemingly never-ending source for controversy within the UFO research community. Despite the varied opinions, which draw from various testimonies given by those who claim to have been directly involved, the latest evidence forthcoming may suggest that corroborative data about the incident was obtained via radar operators at nearby RAF Bentwaters, near Suffolk, England. (For more information on the details involving the well-known Rendlesham UFO incident, As reported in the UK’s Express, “The new claims… appear to back up those made by Mr Holt last July when he appeared at a Rendlesham UFO conference, in Woodbridge, Suffolk, to mark the 35th anniversary of the sighting last July.” Halt had previously told the BBC that “he saw unidentified objects at Rendlesham Forest in December 1980,” and subsequently claimed that he had obtained “statements from radar operators at RAF Bentwaters and nearby Wattisham airfield that an unknown object was tracked at the time.” The evidence is presented in a new documentary film by veteran UFO researcher Robert Hastings, whose previous work has involved reports of UFO sightings related to nuclear facilities around the world. Hastings managed to locate the radar operators that claimed to have observed an object on their radars which coincided with the testimony given by Charles Halt and others on the ground, who observed an unusual aircraft in Rendlesham Forest.
According to Jim Carey, one of the two operators in question:
“I was just sitting there and I happened to see a dot come on the scope, and it just went one dot in the beginning, and another dot, another dot, and it was gone. All of a sudden, here it come back across again. It went one, two and then an immediate right hand turn and came right towards the base. I just said that can’t be one of ours. No jet at that speed can make an immediate right hand turn. Just absolutely phenomenal.”
Ike Barker, another radar operator who says he tracked the object, supplied the following similar information:
“When the sweep would hit the target, you would have the entire back of it would be like a solid line. Traveling at an extremely high rate of speed, it passed over the control tower and then it stopped. I’ve never seen anything in my life like the maneuverability that happened with this object…. There were lights around the center of it, but it wasn’t like running lights or navigational lights. It was more like portholes, and you were seeing the light from the inside coming out. It wasn’t flashing lights or anything. It hovered momentarily, reversed its course, and went back out at a high rate of speed.”
The testimony Barker provides seems to describe something akin to a sphere (at one point, he even remarked that the thought had crossed his mind someone “was flying a basketball” in the area). The object described by Halt and the others had been triangular; however, Halt has also suggested that he believed there may be evidence the triangle he and the others observed could have been a drone or some other variety of “scout” aircraft, associated with a larger “mothership” located elsewhere. Will the new testimony collected by Robert Hastings and those associated with the initial Rendlesham Forest incident indeed shed new light on the case, or will it only present evidence which calls for further questions? Perhaps at very least, the ongoing evidence pertaining to this case will help lend to the veracity of those who say they observed unusual aerial phenomenon in the vicinity of Suffolk, England, in December of 1980.

Boyfriend was driving south on Rt. 11 from Watertown to Adams. At about 11:45ish we saw lights on the road up ahead and the picture just didn’t make sense to us. At first it looked to me like maybe a fire truck up ahead or something but the closer we got the less sense the image we were seeing made. We continued in their direction, and came up on them fast, within seconds. They were in fact closer to us than I thought, maybe a quarter mile from where we first noticed the lights. We had to slow down fast or we would have driven right underneath and past them. Boyfriend came to a stop so these things were drifting across the road right in front of us. We were driving south on Rt. 11 so they were drifting across the road in a south/west direction, and right over the road in front of us they turned around and drifted back the direction they had been coming from; north/east. Because they turned around in front of us we got to see just about every angle of these things except the top, so it was not an optical illusion and we could tell how close they were to each other and to us. We saw them up close, clearly, and in 3D. It was dark, but there were street lights and our headlights and they had blinking lights, red and white only, the whole time we saw them. I had turned off the heat and radio as we came upon them, and I immediately stuck my head right out the window for the best angle, and two things struck me right away. First; the silence. They made no noise that I could detect above the noise of our vehicle, which is not loud. Second; their proximity to each other. They were so close together I would think they would be bumping into each other. When they turned around I thought we were going to witness a crash, they were only a few feet from each other. And they never split up when they were in our sights, but they moved independently, not like they were attached. The craft were about the size of limousines, lazily floating over the road not far above the telephone polls.
They were both triangular, but they were not the same. One was a wider triangle, like you might picture a military drone or something, but the other one was a skinny pointy triangle. Both had, I believe, red blinking lights in the front corner on the bottom, and white blinking lights on the side corners on the bottom. Besides being triangular in shape and the lights, they were completely featureless, at least from the bottom and sides. Just perfect triangles, no other angles or patterns at all. Just black. Like even any drones I look up that belong to any military or even anything out of popular science, nothing I’ve seen is a perfect triangle like that, they all have some other angles, discernable wings, engines, something.
They were both like that, exactly the same except for the shape of the triangle. We were so close that if there was any other detail to notice in their shape, we would have seen it. We should have been able to see detail but it was just their outlines, the lights, and flat matte black. There were stars out and they blocked their light, blocked the lighter color of the horizon behind them. There was no light reflecting off them, and there should have been. There were all these lights like I said, and not one glimmer of a reflection off any part of them. And the lights that came off them were bright but not blinding; there was no glare, even so close. And my eyes have a problem with glare and bright lights. But not these. After they turned around and we just gawked for what seemed like minutes but must have been seconds, a spotlight shown coming from the side of I THINK the skinny one, right off the tip of the wing or side corner of the triangle. It shown in our direction but I think it shown over us not right on us… and then they were drifting over the trees back in the direction they seemed to have come from. I told Boyfriend to hurry up and chase them and not to lose them. I kept my eyes on them and could see the lights through the trees, directed Boyfriend where to go, but I lost them through the trees. I could see them and then they were just nowhere. Boyfriend took a route that should have cut them off if they had continued their speed and direction, and we drove around with my head out the moon roof searching and finding hilltops to search the horizons, but nothing, they were gone. Then we drove around looking for a cop car but wouldn’t you know it when you actually need one they are nowhere to be found. We finally gave up and went home and I think it was close to 1am. I was determined to alert authorities. I knew they wouldn’t exactly believe us, or do anything about it, but I just wanted it on record, wanted someone to know that happened, and I’m just so curious, and I was hoping that we wouldn’t be the only ones! I figured they would get more calls, more reports. I thought with them being right above the ground and apparently in no hurry, someone else around must have noticed something. Its a rural area but right smack in between Adams and Adams Center. I called the Jefferson County police but the state troopers showed up first. The troopers said they would check around with Fort Drum and stuff and were nice but obviously didn’t take it very seriously, which is the best I really expected… I’m just hoping something else turns up… I want some more news… Even if it isn’t extra terrestrial drones or something, it still had to be some sort of secret technology or something that not many people have witnessed, and that’s still amazing to me. Going about normal everyday life feels so weird now… like I’m the only one freaking out inside about this… I’m thankful for the experience but I hope someone else out there experiences it too. I’m so glad Boyfriend was there to witness it too, but I just can’t stop thinking about it and I think he just wants to forget it. I can’t and don’t want to. I want to know more.

Maar voor planeten die zich veel verder bevinden, kan dat net een heel ander proces in gang zetten, suggereert nieuw onderzoek van het Carl Sagan Institute. Want waar ooit enkel ijs regeerde, zou door de temperatuurstijging plots leven mogelijk zijn.

Sterren, zoals ook onze zon, hebben geen eeuwig leven. Wanneer ze zonder energie komen te zitten, zakt de kern langzaam in, waardoor de temperatuur stijgt. Daardoor zet de rest van de ster uit om een 'reus' te creëren. Daarbij slokt de uitdijende ster nabijliggende planeten op. Toch is dat geen slecht nieuws voor verdergelegen planeten. Want sommigen van hen - momenteel ijskoude, diepgevroren werelden - krijgen plots de ideale voorwaarden en temperatuur om leven op gang te brengen.
Kan dat wat concreter? Wel, in het geval van onze zon zal dat proces binnen zowat 7,5 miljard jaar van start gaan. De zon zal 200 keer groter worden en van Mercurius en Venus zal geen sprake meer zijn. Onze aarde houdt het nog uit, maar is dan compleet onleefbaar geworden. Veel verder weg, rond Saturnus en Jupiter, cirkelen manen als Enceladus en Europa die veel ijs bevatten. Een hetere zon zou daar op dat moment het perfecte klimaat kunnen creëren voor nieuwe levensvormen.
Of we dat niet al eerder hadden kunnen bedenken? Tuurlijk, maar dat bleef tot dusver theoretisch. Het was nog de vraag of die 'leefbare' tijdspanne in de praktijk groot genoeg zou zijn. Een planeet moet namelijk miljarden jaren in het zogenaamde 'Goudlokjegebied' - warm genoeg om vloeibaar water te hebben, maar niet zo heet dat water verdampt - gedijen om ook echt het lange proces van het ontstaan van leven mogelijk te maken.
Blijkt nu van wel, zo berekenden onderzoekers van het Carl Sagan Institute: de planeten rond de grootste stervende sterren - rode reuzen genoemd - zouden zich tot 200 miljoen jaar in een leefbare zone kunnen bevinden. Maar voor kleinere rode reuzen, die minder snel en heet opbranden, kan die periode voor planeten in dat Goudlokjegebied gerokken worden tot 9 miljard jaar. Dat is ongeveer twee keer de leeftijd van onze eigen aarde. Lees: lang genoeg om een levensvorm te doen ontstaan en evolueren op zo'n ijzige planeet.
In ons zonnestelsel hebben verre ijzige werelden ongeveer een half miljard jaar de tijd om te evolueren tot leefbare planeten. Onze aarde zal tegen dan een bloedheet niemandsland zijn geworden.
Op zoek naar leefbare planeten
De onderzoekers hebben nu ook een lijst van 23 rode reuzen opgesteld die minder dan 100 lichtjaren van de aarde verwijderd zijn. Die zijn volgens hen de ideale doelwitten om op zoek te gaan naar leefbare planeten.
Belangrijk detail wel: de aanwezigheid van een planeet in het Goudlokjegebied rond een ster wil niet zeggen dat er zeker en vast leven zal zijn (kijk maar naar Mars). Dat is onder meer ook afhankelijk van de juiste atmosfeer.
De wetenschappers geven verder toe dat ze nog helemaal niet kunnen inschatten wat een rode reus precies doet met de atmosfeer van nabije planeten. Als die die atmosfeer vernietigt, blijft er van dit onderzoek niet veel meer over. Ook de gevolgen voor de baan van de planeet moet mee in rekening genomen worden. Want als een ster een rode reus wordt, vermindert zijn aantrekkingskracht op de planeten eromheen.

"Het is de eerste keer dat we het model van een ster aan het model van een planeet linken en bekijken wat er gebeurt. Mensen blijven maar zeggen: 'Wanneer onze zon een grote, hete ster wordt, moeten we naar Mars of elders verhuizen'. Maar als je toch wilt gaan planeethoppen, moet je wel weten wanneer je precies op welke plek moet zijn. Dat hebben we nu voor het eerst uitgevogeld."

Since the footage is clearer compared to others, people appreciated it. It could be that advanced beings are existing in the universe, but it appears that people should not worry too much; otherwise they are clouding their minds and hearts with irrational fears of the unknown. The thought that there might be other civilizations in the universe should be the reason of excitement—not fear. If they are out there, they are probably much like us in a spiritual sense, at the very least.

A Paul Hellyer-led Canadian research and development team has been formed to organise the important event. Hellyer is a member of the Queen’s Privy Council, former Minister of Defence, and Deputy Prime Minister.
Mr Hellyer is considered as the highest-ranking ex-government official to acknowledge the ET existence and the global cover-up.
According to the spokesman for the research and development team, the panel is composed of elite individuals. They are prepared to present unimpeachable evidence not only the truth about UFO phenomenon, but also the fact that it has been discussed, analysed, investigated, and kept secret from the public at the highest levels of governance on Earth.
Internationally-acclaimed experts are expected to present their case in support to the existence of extraterrestrials, the UFO truth, and what world governments – White House, Pentagon, NORAD, and Vatican – know about the subject matters.

MAGNETIC RECONNECTION
Back in 2015, NASA launched four spacecraft known as Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS). Their job was to study the magnetic fields around Earth to gain information on how they connect and disconnect. Now, the mission is getting its first results, with initial observations having been published in the journal Science.
To break this down a bit, the mission was sent to space to find areas where magnetic reconnection occurs. This is a process that converts magnetic energy to kinetic or thermal energy. It occurs during solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and when solar winds interact with the Earth’s magnetic field sans solar storm.
When two sets of magnetic fields connect, an explosive reaction occurs: As the magnetic fields realign and snap into a new formation, they send particles zooming off in jets. This is magnetic reconnection. And since solar winds have their own magnetic fields, when they reach Earth and hit the magnetosphere, magnetic reconnection occurs.
NASA sent up the satellites to witness this phenomenon. Before, all that could be seen was the particles that zoom off after the filed collide, much like seeing the debris flung out from a tornado, but we’ve never seen the storm itself.
SPACE WEATHER
By having the MMS mission, NASA was able to observe one of the fundamental forces of nature. On Oct. 16, 2015, the spacecraft traveled straight through a magnetic reconnection event. In only a few seconds, the total of 100 sensors collected thousands of observations, including how the magnetic and electric fields changed, as well as the speeds and direction of the various charged particles.
But why collect the information?
Well, such information helps map out the details of our space environment — crucial information as we journey ever farther beyond our home planet. The phenomenon also affects the “space weather” found in the Earth’s magnetosphere. Better understanding of the phenomenon allows NASA to improve its predictions for magnetic reconnection and, as a result, better control its equipment in space.

A meteor lit up the night sky over New England and eastern Canada early on Tuesday, startling people who saw it including police officers who captured the show on a dashcam.
A bright light streaked across the sky shortly after 12:50 a.m. ET (0450 GMT) over states extending from Pennsylvania to Maine, according to the American Meteor Society. It was also captured on some security cameras.
About 100 tons of dust and sand-sized particles known as meteorites enter the Earth's atmosphere each day, though most are too small to be noticed, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
The Portland, Maine, police department posted a video showing the meteor as videotaped by the dashboard camera of a patrol car. One of the officers could be heard exclaiming, "Oh, my God!"
The airport in Burlington, Vermont, captured the show on a security camera.
NASA estimates that a meteor about the size of a car enters the Earth's atmosphere on average once a year, producing an impressive fireball that burns up before reaching the ground.

De Britse oud-politieagent Gary Heseltine (56) heeft zich uitgesproken over een bekende UFO-waarneming in Groot-Brittannië. Hij claimt dat een Britse vliegbasis, RAF Bentwaters, is bezocht door aliens die geïnteresseerd waren in een geheime kernwapenopslag op de basis.
Heseltine claimt dat plaatsvervangend commandant van de basis, kolonel Charles Halt, tegen hem heeft gezegd dat op de basis het grootste kernwapenarsenaal van Europa lag opgeslagen. “Halt vertelde me dat op Bentwaters meer kernwapens lagen opgeslagen dan waar ook in Europa,” zei hij.
Vreemde symbolen
In december 1980 werden drie avonden achter elkaar UFO’s waargenomen boven de basis. Sergeant Jim Penniston zei dat hij één van de objecten, een klein driehoekig vaartuig, had aangeraakt. De buitenkant van het vaartuig ‘voelde zacht aan’ en was voorzien van ‘vreemde symbolen die op Egyptische hiërogliefen leken’.
Heseltine, die in zijn tijd bij de politie kernwapens moest bewaken, zei: “Terwijl ik samen met mijn vrouw Lynn en kolonel Halt door Rendlesham Forest wandelde, hoorde ik hem duidelijk zeggen dat er op Bentwaters meer kernwapens lagen opgeslagen dan waar ook in Europa en dat de vredesdemonstranten geen idee hadden waar ze precies lagen.”
Bedreiging voor de aarde
Kolonel Halt ontkende tegenover de Daily Mirror echter dat hij dergelijke uitspraken heeft gedaan tegenover de oud-agent. In december 1980 was de basis in opperste staat van paraatheid omdat Sovjettroepen zich op dat moment verzamelden langs de Poolse grens.
Heseltine is momenteel werkzaam als redacteur van het internetmagazine UFO Truth. Hij voegde toe: “Door deze informatie wordt voor het eerste duidelijk waarom er eind december 1980 UFO’s bij de basis verschenen. De enorme voorraad illegale kernwapens vormde een bedreiging voor de aarde.”
In 2013 verklaarde Heseltine tijdens de zogenoemde Citizen Hearing on Disclosure het volgende:
