For instance, DE-STAR 2—at 100 meters in diameter, about the size of the International Space Station—"could start nudging comets or asteroids out of their orbits," Hughes said. But DE-STAR 4—at 10 kilometers in diameter, about 100 times the size of the ISS –– could deliver 1.4 megatons of energy per day to its target, said Lubin, obliterating an asteroid 500 meters across in one year.

The speed of interplanetary travel—far beyond what is possible with chemical propellant rockets used today—could be increased with this sized system, according to Lubin. It could also power advanced ion drive systems for deep space travel, he said. Able to engage multiple targets and missions at once, DE-STAR 4 "could simultaneously evaporate an asteroid, determine the composition of another, and propel a spacecraft."

Larger still, DE-STAR 6 could enable interstellar travel by functioning as a massive, orbiting power source and propulsion system for spacecraft. It could propel a 10-ton spacecraft at near the speed of light, allowing interstellar exploration to become a reality without waiting for science fiction technology such as "warp drive" to come along, Lubin said.

"Our proposal assumes a combination of baseline technology—where we are today—and where we almost certainly will be in the future, without asking for any miracles," he explained. "We've really tried to temper this with a realistic view of what we can do, and we approached it from that point of view. It does require very careful attention to a number of details, and it does require a will to do so, but it does not require a miracle."

Recent and rapid developments in highly efficient conversion of electrical power to light allow such a scenario now, Lubin said, when just 20 years ago it would not have been realistic to consider.

"These are not just back-of-the-envelope numbers," Hughes concurred. "They are actually based on detailed analysis, through solid calculations, justifying what is possible. And it's all available under current theory and current technology.

"There are large asteroids and comets that cross the Earth's orbit, and some very dangerous ones going to hit the Earth eventually," he added. "Many have hit in the past and many will hit in the future. We should feel compelled to do something about the risk. Realistic solutions need to be considered, and this is definitely one of those."

A Solar Powered “Forever Drone” May Be Replacing Our Satellites

When Sputnik 1 reached low Earth orbit in 1957, it did more than kick-start America’s space program and send American schoolchildren scurrying for cover under their desks. It launched the satellite age. The orbiting platforms, which now number in the thousands, revolutionized communication, navigation, and watching football.

Satellites, though, are expensive to build, expensive to launch, and difficult to update once in orbit. Drones are another story. They’re relatively cheap, easily launched, and readily updated. Of course, they can’t stay aloft very long.

Or can they?

Airbus recently announced the successful maiden flight of its Zephyr T aircraft, a drone powered only by sunshine. Six decades after Sputnik launched the space race, the European firm joins the likes of NASA and Facebook in a race to build high-altitude drones that combine the advantages of a satellite and the flexibility of a plane. “You don’t have to go through the rigor that current space-based satellite systems use,” says John Del Frate, an aerospace engineer at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center.

This Startup Wants to Use Drones to Drop Blood, Not Bombs

These “high altitude pseudo satellites,” as Airbus calls them, won’t drop bombs or deliver packages. They’ll do many of the things satellites do and return periodically for new batteries or new tech. One day, swarms of solar-powered drones could monitor military or intelligence targets, track forest fires, or provide communications in an emergency. By flying far lower than satellites, drones could provide sharper photos of Earth. They could provide high-bandwidth links, using lasers to relay information to other drones or receivers on the ground, providing the sort of line-of-sight communication isn’t possible with satellites that orbit the planet and disappear over the horizon.

Fresh Real Estate

NASA’s 1999 Helios prototype was among the first forays into this technology. In one experiment, NASA used boomerang-like aircraft, made of carbon fiber and Styrofoam, as an airborne cell phone tower. It was funky but graceful, with a wingspan of 247 feet and 14 electric propellers, but crashed into the Pacific near Kauai in 2003. Helios topped out at more than 96,000 feet, and was designed to stay in the air for at least 24 hours.

Flying something at those extreme altitudes, for long stretches, and on solar power, poses new challenges. For Helios, the killer was power storage. The team experimented with fuel cells, but batteries are a better choice. “Endurance is huge,” says Del Frate, who managed the program. “Anything you put up there has to be ultra-reliable. It’s kind of like your refrigerator, you just want to plug it in and forget it.”

Airbus started working on pseudo satellites in 2008, aiming to fill the “capability gap” between satellites in orbit and the low-altitude, limited drones of the day. In 2010, Zephyr 7 smashed the world record for longest flight without refueling (14 days). After that, the company decided to move to commercialization with two new models, the Zephyr Sand Zephyr T. The British Ministry of Defense has dibs on the first two S models, and will likely use them for surveillance. Airbus just tested a one-quarter scale model of the T, which will stretch the Zephyr S’s 82-foot wingspan to 108 feet. It will quadruple its payload capacity to 44 pounds, enough to carry the radar and other gear military customers will want to keep airborne.

The solar-powered planes are designed to cruise at around 65,000 feet, nearly twice the altitude of commercial airliners. The Zephyr 7 prototype can fly for 14 days on end. Airbus plans to get that up to at least a month.

To achieve that, the team is taking cues from nature, says Steve Whitby, head of business development for the Zephyr program. Instead of the upturned winglets now common on commercial aircraft, his aircraft sport downturned tips, like a buzzard’s wings. “Because of the speed we’re flying at, which is quite slow, we want to gain the maximum lift,” he says. This aerodynamic trick effectively gathers wind beneath the wings, for a 15 percent efficiency gain. Weighing as little as possible helps, too: The S model—which resembles a wire hanger that’s figured out how to fly—is just 143 pounds. The twin-tailed T weighs just over 300, counting its payload.

The biggest issue impacting endurance is what happens in the dark, when photovoltaic cells can’t generate power. A solar plane currently circumnavigating the planet offers one idea: Solar Impulse 2 spends the day at about 30,000 feet, then slowly descends to 5,000 at night, trading altitude for distance. Zephyr can’t drift down quite so much, or it will enter commercial airspace and spend all day returning to its operational height. Airbus says the electric propulsion it uses is already efficient, but expects improves as battery tech advances.

There’s plenty of competition here. The Solar Impulse team says its next project will focus on a lightweight solar drone capable of remaining aloft for six months. Google isexperimenting with high-altitude drones and balloons to provide wireless service. Facebook is developing a solar drone called Aquila, which would fly for three months at a time to provide Internet access to remote areas.

Airbus hopes to combine the lessons from Zephyr program with its experience building conventional satellites to launch and maintain a fleet of forever drones. This isn’t a concept anymore—the Zephyr Sis already in production, and before long will be pinging above our heads, just like Sputnik 1.

The solar-powered drones could be used for military monitoring, emergency communications, and even for high-speed internet connection.

Airbus is working on the endurance issue, or simply what happens to the solar-powered drone when there is no Sun. The company said the Zephyr’s electric propulsion is already efficient, but can still improve with battery tech advances.

In the meantime, we eagerly await a world where high-flying armadas of drones eliminate the dangers of space junk and declutter Low Earth Orbit.

Where to Spot UFOs (Infographic)

Seeking answers to unexplained observations would seem a part of the human DNA, with our search for the "God particle" and other truths motivating many a scientist. And while unexplained flying objects have no real science going for them, that hasn't stemmed any interest and want to believe in them.

And while UFO sightings abound all year, apparently there was a spike this August 2011. In fact, for some states the number of UFO sightings doubled compared with normal. "It's pretty exciting," said Clifford Clift, the international director of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), told Life's Little Mysteries about the spike. "When you average 500 a month [nationwide] and go to 1,013 in one month, that's an interesting spike in sighting reports." (MUFON tracks UFO reports.)

Spikes in UFO sightings have various explanations, including the fact that they tend to appear high in the sky, so whatever is really causing the sight is in view of thousands of people. That means reports could be of the same incident or several. Movies and other media also can pique people's interest in aliens and UFOs.

In addition, flying objects lend themselves to UFO interpretations. For instance, last year, a cluster of silvery, shiny lights floated above Manhattan's Chelsea district set off claims of UFO sightings. Later officials from a school in Mount Vernon identified these flying objects as helium balloons that had escaped from an engagement party.

The sightings were very similar to a famous UFO report from New Jersey's Morris County on the evening of Jan. 5, 2009, when an 11-year-old girl noticed bright lights in the sky. The glowing, slowly moving, red lights were later explained as a hoax; two pranksters had tied road flares to helium balloons and released them "as a social experiment."

Such sightings have quite a history. The first reported incident of an alleged alien abduction occurred in the 1960s when Barney and Betty Hill claimed they had been abducted by aliens. They reportedly said they were pursued by a glowing UFO through parts of New Hampshire. The couple came to believe that they had been abducted by the UFO's occupants, who then erased their memories. With psychiatric help and under hypnosis, the couple reported full-blown, detailed "repressed memories" of their abduction.

Leiden theoretical physicists have proven that DNA mechanics, in addition to genetic information in DNA, determines who we are. Helmut Schiessel and his group simulated many DNA sequences and found a correlation between mechanical cues and the way DNA is folded. They have published their results in PLoS One.

When James Watson and Francis Crick identified the structure of DNA molecules in 1953, they revealed that DNA information determines who we are. The sequence of the letters G, A, T and C in the famous double helix determines what proteins are made ny our cells. If you have brown eyes, for example, this is because a series of letters in your DNA encodes for proteins that build brown eyes. Each cell contains the exact same letter sequence, and yet every organ behaves differently. How is this possible?

Mechanical cues

Since the mid 1980s, it has been hypothesized that there is a second layer of information on top of the genetic code consisting of DNA mechanical properties. Each of our cells contains two meters of DNA molecules, and these molecules need to be wrapped up tightly to fit inside a single cell. The way in which DNA is folded determines how the letters are read out, and therefore which proteins are actually made. In each organ, only relevant parts of the genetic information are read. The theory suggests that mechanical cues within the DNA structures determine how preferentially DNA folds.

Simulation

For the first time, Leiden physicist Helmut Schiessel and his research group provide strong evidence that this second layer of information indeed exists. With their computer code, they have simulated the folding of DNA strands with randomly assigned mechanical cues. It turns out that these cues indeed determine how the DNA molecule is folded into so-called nucleosomes. Schiessel found correlations between the mechanics and the actual folding structure in the genome of two organisms—baker's yeast and fission yeast. This finding reveals evolutionary changes in DNA—mutations—that have two very different effects: The letter sequence encoding for a specific protein can change, or the mechanics of the DNA structure can change, resulting in different packaging and levels of DNA accessibility, and therefore differing frequency of production of that protein.

Meet the Igigi –The Ancient Astronauts who rebelled against the Anunnaki

The Ancient Anunnaki are said to have created the human race by genetically modifying early humans in order to use them as a labor force. But before humans were created, the Igigi were used by the ancient Anunnaki as their main labor force.

It is said that the Igigi –they who turn and see—were the Ancient Astronaut Gods of the younger generation, the servants to the mighty Anunnaki who came to Earth to mine gold.

The terminology used to describe the gods is extremely complicated and still needs much study.- Researchers believe the term Igigi is of Semitic origin and indicates the group of gods in the Mesopotamian pantheon. It is still unclear which ancient gods belonged to the Igigi, but many scholars suggest Mardik –the patron god of the city of Babylon—was one of the Igigi.

Mainstream scholars use the term Igigi to make reference to the Sumerian mythological deities. According to mainstream scholars, mythologically speaking, the Igigi were the younger servants of the Anunnaki who initiated a rebellion against their masters and dictatorship of Enlil. Eventually, the Anunnaki replaced the Igigi with humans.

In the myth of Atrahasis –the Babylonian story of the Flood and a precursor to the flood story in the Gilgameš Ep– the Sumerian paradise is described as a garden where lower gods (the Igigi) were put to work digging a watercourse by their masters, the Anunnaki:

Ancient Astronaut hypothesis suggests that the Igigi were similar to the Anunnaki, remaining in constant orbit around our planet. They were basically considered as intermediaries between our planet and Nibiru –home of the Anunnaki.

Many believe that the Igigi remained in constant orbit around our planet in giant platforms which processed ores which were delivered from Earth. After processing the minerals, the material was transferred to other ships and eventually transported to the home planet of the Anunnaki.

The Igigi were apparently ever encountered by mankind. It is said that several texts make reference to them, saying the Igigi  were “too high up for Mankind,” and consequently “ were not concerned with the people.”

After years of tenuous and hard work for the Anunnaki, the Igigi rebelled against their masters. It is sad that they ‘set fire to their tools and surrounded Enlil’s great house by night’ forcing the ancient Anunnaki to find another source of labor.

This is why the ancient Anunnaki replaced the Igigi after genetically engineering ancient humans creating a greater workforce.

Many authors suggest that the human ‘slave race’ was created after the ancient Anunnaki genetically modified their genes and that of early humans nearly 500,000 years ago.

When Disclosure Serves Secrecy

Ending the secrecy surrounding the UFO/ET subject is a laudable goal. It is long overdue. It would transform the world in ways both simple and profound. 

And yet it is fraught with danger. 

The covert projects which have been running UFO related programs for nearly 60 years are not interested in a disclosure which upsets their apple cart. They want such a disclosure to transform their apple cart into a freight train. And they potentially have the power and connections to do it. 
There are multiple scenarios attending the disclosure of the UFO subject- and not all of them have the best interests of humanity at heart. Elsewhere, in the new book Extraterrestrial Contact: The Evidence and Implications I write about the kind of disclosure the world needs. An honest one. An open one. One which replaces secrecy with democracy. A disclosure which is peaceful, scientific and hopeful. 

But then there is the disclosure the powers that be would like to see: Manipulated. Calculated to consolidate power and engender fear. Configured in such a way that chaos and a deepening need for Big Brother is carefully inculcated into the masses. 

We have seen the plans and it is not a pretty picture. 
I write this as a warning. A warning that the wolves in sheep clothes are very cunning indeed. And have almost limitless resources. Most who work with them do not even know they are wolves. Indeed, it is likely that many of the wolves have been convinced that they are sheep. 

The UFO matter is not so much a mystery as a matter deliberately obfuscated and mystified. Confusion and a lack of clarity serves the larger covert goal of keeping it off the long-range radar of society while power and plans are consolidated quietly. And the one thing more dangerous to society than all this secrecy is a planned, contrived disclosure run by the keepers of the secrets. 

For years such plans have been made - to be unfurled at just the right time. During a time of great expectation. Of social confusion. Perhaps of millennial madness? 

I have personally met with a number of people who are very involved with such plans. I do not speculate here. Be aware: The disclosure of UFO reality is being planned very carefully. It will assiduously follow a scheme to spin the subject in just the right way - the only way which will further redound to the glory and power of the secret-keepers. It will be a false disclosure - one born out of the age-old bane of human existence: selfishness and greed. Greed for power. Greed for control. Greed for domination.

Excessive secrecy which lacks executive branch and congressional oversight is ended. Humanity begins to entertain open contact with other civilizations, with peaceful engagement as the goal. Technologies which are currently suppressed are allowed to be disseminated: Pollution ends. An economy of abundance and social justice is firmly established. Global environmental destruction and mind-numbing world poverty become a faint memory. Zero-point based energy devices transform the world. Electro-gravitic devices permit above ground travel without paving over the world's precious fertile farm land. As an ET once told Colonel Philip Corso, "Its a new world, if you can take it...". This is the disclosure which we are working for. 

But the disclosure envisioned above could have happened in 1950. It did not - Why? For such a disclosure would lead to the total transformation of the status quo. Centralized energy systems would be obsolete. Oil would be useful only for lubricants and synthetics. The geo-political order of today would be a thing forgotten: Every country and people on Earth would have such a high degree of progress and advancement that all nations would have a seat at the global table. Power would need to be shared. Peaceful acknowledgment of life from elsewhere would make the Earth seem like the very small, organic homeland which it is. The vast trillion dollar global military - industrial sector would be reigned in. And a universal spirituality might dawn... 

But remember, there are hugely powerful interests who dread this scenario. For them, it is the end of the world as they know it. The end of centralized, elite power. The end of a controlled geo-political order which today leaves nearly 90% of the people of Earth barely one step out of the stone age. And they do not wish to share the power they wield.

Now, let me describe the 'disclosure' which would make these covert control programs happy. This is the false or contrived 'disclosure' which has only one clear goal: The further consolidation of their power and their paradigm. It has to do with fear, not love. With war, not peace. With division and conflict, not unity. It is the dominant paradigm - but it is slipping away slowly. And a carefully orchestrated disclosure of the 'facts' of the UFO and ET subject could secure their power. This is the disclosure which is to be dreaded. This is the disclosure to watch out for. This is the disclosure which is already occurring. 

My meetings over the past 9 years with covert operatives who have worked on UFO related programs have introduced me to some characters right out of a spy novel - and then some. Whether in private high tech industry, at the Pentagon or at a midnight meeting in a private mansion, a theme has emerged. It is one of immense, though currently hidden, power. It transcends government as we know it (at this point the government of 'We the people...' has been made irrelevant on this issue). And the theme has two main strands - the eventual covert militarization of the ET subject and a weird covert religious strain which can only be viewed as bizarre. 
Here, we find some very strange bed-fellows indeed. War mongers and militarists in cahoots with industrialists who share a certain bizarre eschatological bent: A dark view of the future, featuring an extraterrestrial Armageddon - or at least the threat of it. Such a theme supports retrograde and fanatical religious causes as well as deeply covert military-industrial plans to expand the arms race into space. 

In fact, the big players in the so-called 'civilian UFO community' are tied into such beliefs and agendas. It strains credulity, I admit, but here is what we have found by penetrating these operations. 

From a military-industrial perspective, the disclosure of choice is one which frames the UFO/ET issue in a threatening manner. If a threat from space can be established (as President Reagan liked to say) then the entire world can be united around the need to fight such a threat. This would ensure trillion dollar plus military - industrial spending well into the next century, and beyond. If you think the cold war was costly, wait until you see the price tag for this 'protection' from the 'threats' in space: The trillions spent on the cold war will look like a blue light special. 

Retrograde and fanatical religious groups, similarly, have great vested interests in fulfilling the promise of Armageddon. An eschatological paradigm, well enshrined in the belief systems of those running covert UFO projects, is supported by the portrayal of a cosmic conflict in the heavens. Voila! We have the necessity of spinning the UFO/ET issue in the evil invading aliens (translates in religious terms as demons) direction. Indeed, this has already been accomplished, courtesy of the 'civilian UFO community' and the tabloid media (swhich at this point is virtually all media...). 

Additionally, there is a subtext which can only be viewed as thinly veiled racism. You will note that part of the 'new myth' regarding UFOs involves the 'good ETs', which invariably are described as 'Pleidians' who are 'handsome' white, blue-eyed Aryan appearing types. Naturally, those 'evil, bad ETs' are darker, shorter, look funny and smell funny. Please. Such clap-trap would have us trade age-old human racism for an extraterrestrial variety. This nonsense and propaganda could only make Hitler proud. 
In one lengthy meeting with a multi-billionaire, I was told that he gave great support to UFO activities which propel the so-called 'alien abduction' subject into public awareness because he wanted humanity to unite around fighting this 'alien threat'. Later, this very influential figure informed me that he believed these demonic ETs were the cause of every setback in human history since Adam and Eve. Sound familiar? 

Military interests, which are heavily involved in covert projects which hoax ET events, such as human military- related abductions, have a shared goal of demonizing the UFO/ET phenomenon. Doing so lays the foundations for the fear and dread necessary for an organized opposition to all things ET. And this subserves the longterm need to provide a rationale for an expanding global military even should world peace emerge. In fact, under this scenario, 'world peace', or strictly speaking peace on Earth, could be secured by the world uniting, eventually, against the 'threat from space' referred to by resident Reagan. (By the way, personally I believe Reagan was the victim of disinformation specialists who surrounded him and who manipulated him into the statements he made on this subject.) 

Under this scenario, currently being gamed and 'disclosed' courtesy of the trial balloon UFO 'community', we would get peace on Earth - in exchange for interplanetary conflict. One step forward, ten steps back. Wonderful. 
Such a false and contrived 'disclosure of the truth' regarding UFOs and ETs would, then, subserve agendas held by powerful covert interests in both the military-industrial sector and those of a strange collection of religious fanatics, who pine for Armageddon - and the sooner the better. 

Lest the reader think such a strange amalgam of militarists and cult-like religious interests are unlikely, remember the weird views of the Third Reich. Or more recently, the views of one US Department of the Interior cabinet secretary during the Reagan years named James Watt. It was he who, not knowing a microphone was still on and recording his comments, stated in the 1980s that we did not need to worry about all these environmental problems since Armageddon was coming soon and the world would be destroyed anyway...This bizarre view, held by a man who shaped and applied policy for the Interior Department of the US Government, was later reported in the general media. At the time a comical footnote perhaps. But what does it say about the degree to which such beliefs may be shaping covert UFO policy - and specifically disclosure plans? We have found that such views - bizarre as they may seem to most - are heavily represented in covert policy development on the UFO subject.

To the rational and intellectual, such views seem ridiculous. Why, you might ask, would anyone want a cosmic war in space, an Armageddon and the destruction of the Earth? To comprehend this, you have to get inside the head of people who hold such beliefs - people like James Watt. In his case, why worry about a little bit of deforestation, air pollution and areas of dead oceans if the entire world is going to be destroyed in a couple of years anyway? 

But the thinking goes further than this. Because such fanatical thinking has within it the concept that as a result of the Armageddon we will see the return of Christ- and with it the good people's salvation. Now, people are free to believe what they want. But what we have found is a deliberate influencing of covert policy on UFOs by such beliefs. Some of these people want Armageddon - and they want it ASAP. 

Strictly speaking, the militarists and war-mongers, itching to 'kick some alien butt' as it was said in the movie Independence Day, may actually only want a pretext to justify their existence and get the world to eventually spend huge sums of money on a perceived (if contrived) threat from space. 
But in some cases - high up on the food chain of the covert entity running UFO secrecy - the two views meet. A place where militarism and eschatology merge. Where Star Wars and Armageddon join. 

In tracing the history of both the UFO civilian community and the covert policy-making group concerned with UFOs, we have found a growing penetration of the latter into the former. So much so that at this point there are projects which ostensibly are innocent civilian initiatives but which in reality are totally controlled and financed by 'cut-outs' from ultra-secret projects. 

Moreover, our careful penetration of such projects yielded the disturbing finding that deep-cover black project operatives are working closely with alleged civilian researchers, journalists and UFO glitterati. CIA and military intelligence operatives are working with civilian 'think tank' heads, alongside very wealthy business people who are eschatologists, and being advised by 'civilian' technologists and scientists - who are themselves proponents of bizarre religious belief systems involving the end of the world and ETs... 

Thus, the new 'chosen ones' have been assembled. They are planning your disclosure on the UFO/ET subject. They are owned by the money whores and power brokers doing the bidding of the secret entity which runs UFO projects to begin with. And it all looks like a civilian initiative. So innocent. So well-intended. So 'scientific'. And by the way, the sky is falling courtesy of ET and we need your money and your souls to defend against it. 
Do not be deceived. You need to be awake to the darker scenarios which some would like to thrust upon the world. And you need to know that there are alternatives. If a 'disclosure' is unleashed on the world which is xenophobic, militaristic and terrifying, know that it comes from the spinmeisters of secrecy- regardless of how respectable the person or group may appear to be. 

And remember: Part of this disclosure plan involves the use of UFO look-alike devices made by humans in an attack on Earth or military assets of Earth. This would be a well-orchestrated use of advanced human technologies to hoax an ET attack- all for the purpose of disclosing the truth with the desired military-oriented spin. In such a scenario, most of humanity will be deceived into believing the threat from space has arrived - and that we must fight it at all costs. This is nothing more than long-term social security for the military-industrial complex. There must be people who can expose this fraud. 

But why should we wait for these darker scenarios to be unleashed on an unsuspecting world? 

Here is another idea: Why don't 'we the people' unite and launch a disclosure which resembles the first one described above. An honest one. One which leads to peace, not war. To a sustainable and beautiful world, free of pollution and brimming with abundance, of all types. One which reaches out into the unknown, instead of firing particle beam weapons into the darkness of space. 

Additionally, we welcome those who can come forward with first hand knowledge of the machinations referred to in this paper and who wish to expose such madness to contact us. The one thing the darkness of secrecy cannot tolerate is a spotlight shining right on it. And the more of us holding the light, the better. 

Evil steps in when good people do nothing. This is a lesson taught through thousands of years of human history. We stand at the beginning of a new time, and a new world awaits us. But we must embrace it, and help create it. For if we are passive, others will have their way- at least in the short run.

Proof of Alien Life: Aliens Hidden on Distant Diamond and Graphite Planets?

Life in the early universe might have formed on carbon planets made of carbides, graphite, and diamond, according to a study accepted for publication and is available online in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. The study’s researchers from Harvard University claim this indicates that even planets that contain minute amounts of carbon can still support life.

“This work shows that even stars with a tiny fraction of the carbon in our solar system can host planets,” adds the study’s lead author Natalie Mashian, a graduate student from Harvard University. “We have good reason to believe that alien life will be carbon-based, like life on Earth, so this also bodes well for the possibility of life in the early universe.”

The research team suggests that ancient CEMP stars or carbon-enhanced metal-poor stars, formed before heavy metals crucial for life on Earth, were spread throughout the universe that influenced planet formation by clumping carbon dust grains together to form carbon planets. Although theseplanets would be considered as tar-black worlds with the same size and mass as other Earth-like worlds, these are still capable of sustaining life.

“These stars are fossils from the young universe,” says Mashian’s Ph.D. thesis advisor Avi Loeb from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. “By studying them, we can look at how planets, and possibly life in the universe, got started.”

If this theory turns out to be true, astronomers still need to assess the tar-black planets’ atmosphere to determine other details they do not know about. However, they think that the planets’ atmosphere contain huge amounts of methane and carbon dioxide.

Finding these planets could be possible using the transit technique. This technique is the same method used by scientists to detect other exoplanets, which Loeb asserts is a practical method for analyzing how early planets could have formed during the universe’s infancy.

Latest UFO Sighting Spooks Experts: 1980 Diamond Alien Returns?

UFO sighting in the United States is a common phenomenon. This time, there is yet another incident of an unidentified flying object in the skies of Florida, which holds uncanny similarities to the notorious UFO sighting in 1980.

A man identified as Steve, who works as a director of aircraft maintenance for a corporate jet fleet in the USA, managed to take an “amazing footage of the UFO, which he recorded from his plane, as it flew 43,000 feet above Texas in the USA, notes Mirror. There was also anotherreport that hints at proof of aliens spotted on the moon.

The clip taken by the man caused a stir among experts of SecureTeam10 to whom he sent the footage to, so that they could analyze its details and share the findings. While it is still not known whether the recent mysterious sighting in the sky is indeed an alien object, it surely relives the memories of the 1980 Cash-Landrum incident.

Vicky Landrum and Betty Cash were returning home in December 1980 from a dinner party with Vicky’s seven-year-old grandson Colby when they saw a huge diamond-shaped object in the sky.

According to their reports to the media, the object was emitting flames from underneath. What was shocking was that when Betty got out of the car to have a better look at the object, she suffered terrible burns.  Finally, the object started to move away when approached by 23 military-style helicopters,.

A UFO spotted near the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, about ten miles from Dayton, Ohio, is building a lot of traction over the internet. The mysterious object was filmed by a Dayton couple while they were looking at the sunset from their home, according to Daily Mail.

The video footage shows the object having a pointed end downwards; hanging in the sky and moving slowly. It shows some strange markings on its surface.

“What the f*** is that? ” says the woman. “It looks like it’s moving with the clouds.”

After some time, the object disappears into the clouds. “Oh my god, it f****** disappeared,” says another onlooker.

The couple recorded the video last week on Wednesday, May 25. They sent it to different alien investigation websites, including Tyler Glockner of Secure Team 10.

Describing the object, Glockner called it mind-blowing. He said that the object had no sound and was solid. It seems to be the same object spotted two times a month ago near Dayton, Ohio. It is the third sighting by a different source.

While showing other older sightings, he said: ’It’s the same UFO. I am simply amazed, we have someone corroborating this sighting.”

However, he said that the object could be an engineered aircraft on trial by some black project over the military base.

‘There is no doubt in my mind this is either an alien craft or a very very strange drone – which I highly doubt.” he said at the end of the video.

The strange UFO sightings are not new at Airforce Base. Since 1947, the base has been witnessing several bizarre objects near the area. Between 1947 and 1969, the airbase recorded 12,618 sightings. Out of those, 701 were tagged as unidentified. All were recorded in Project Blue Book, a record book for UFO sightings and investigation, according to USA Today.

The base came into the highlight after John Greenewald, an amateur historian, shared 100,000 pages of documents at his website The Black Vault.

The First 3D Photos Reveal What Is Located In One Of The Oldest Pyramids

Using cosmic rays, thermal cameras and lasers, a team of experts made 3D maps which show the internal structure of one of the oldest Egyptian pyramids.

An international team of archaeologists discovered the first performance of the Bent Pyramid in Dashur, from which have developed 3D photos. So they approached the public to look at the inner chambers of the buildings old 4,600 years.

Bent Pyramid is one of the earliest built in the time of the Old Kingdom Pharaoh Sneferu, father of Khufu. This pyramid has two entrances that open to two lanes, leading to two burial chambers, placed one above the other.

Tajoubi Mehdi, head of Egypt’s “Heritage Innovation Preservation Institute”, said plates placed 40 days inside the pyramid collected data on the particles that make up the bulk of the cosmic radiation that reaches Earth’s surface. The particles fall through empty space, but also absorb and other surfaces. A study of the deposition of particles on the surface, scientists have concluded much about the construction of the pyramids.

“We analyzed more than 10 million tracks of particles. Based on the number and angle which they are deployed, we could reconstruct a picture. It is the first time in history in this way to be discovered the inside of the pyramid,” explained Tajoubi, adding that the idea the project is to find an answer to the mystery of the pyramids, or how they were built. It is thought that Sneferu was buried inside the hidden chamber in the pyramid, but it has denied so far.

3D scanning technology and lasers will be used to study the hidden chamber in the tomb of Tutankhamun, which is believed to have belonged to Queen Nefertiti, says Daily mail.

They Found A New Earth: NASA Says There Is A Sensational Discovery!

Telescope “Kepler” discovered something very important, so the experts of the space agency announced that their findings will be publish on May 10.

Having launched in 2009, the telescope “Kepler” discovered more than 1,000 exoplanets, and several thousand await confirmation.

But this latest find is so large that it was announced that there will be press conference. Everything is still kept in secret and there are not any details, but we know that NASA organize such conferences for only major findings, as when it was discovered water on Mars.

4 Weird “Clues” That Parallel Universes Exist

The scientific possibility of parallel universes first arrived with Hugh Everett III’s Relative State Formulation in 1957. Not long after, Bryce Seligman DeWitt renamed Everett’s theory and introduced it to the masses, bringing us the popular term Many-worlds Interpretation.

But there are others, each attempting to solve the quantum measurement problem and, in this case, Everett’s formulation. These include the Many-minds interpretation and, my personal favorite, Many-histories.

Interpretations of interpretations, yeah. It’s very messy.

But for now, any thoughts of dimension-hopping adventures and interacting with parallel universes are relegated to science fiction. It’s just not possible.

Or is it?

Let’s take a quick look at some of the weirder “clues” that maybe, just maybe, we’re living in one of many worlds.

1. Ghosts & Paranormal Activity

So here’s a snapshot of an alleged ghost that popped up at the 16th Century palace of King Henry VIII. It appeared on CCTV footage after security guards were notified of someone repeatedly opening the fire exit. (And I’m not saying this is an actual ghost…just using it as an example).

Beyond ghostly photographs, though, many of these sightings could have an even more exotic explanation: parallel worlds bleeding into one another. A ghost, a specter, the haunting visage of the deceased — perhaps this person is alive and well in another world, and you’ve simply caught a glimpse into their universe.

Or perhaps this particular “parallel universe” is the realm of the dead, itself!

2. Déjà vu & Alter vus

A Déjà vu is one of several strange phenomena of the mind (including Déjà vecu and Déjà Visité, among others). Déjà vu, in particular, is the uncanny sensation that you’ve experienced something before, that an event is repeating itself. With Déjà vecu, you may even feel that you know what’s going to happen next.

An Alter vu, as well, is a term that popped up during the John Titor saga to describe when someone remembers their worldline differently. Conflicting memories, something changed about the world they live in. Think about Marty McFly at the end of Back to the Future; he’d remember the name of the mall as Twin Pines Mall, but due to his time travel, it’s changed to Lone Pine Mall.

He remembers both realities.

Both experiences have neurological and memory-based explanations, but is it possible that Déjà vus are “memories” from other versions of ourselves in other universes, or that Alter vus are truly memories from altered worldlines?

3. Dreams & Parallel Universes

If sleep is a little slice of death, then what are dreams?

Some dreams we remember, most we don’t. While the mechanism for dreaming is fairly understood (they tend to occur during REM sleep), we still don’t know their true purpose, if there is one. A glimpse into the unconsious mind, a way for our brains to sort out information?

Or could they be windows into another world?

4. Parallel Universe Stories

Believe it or not, there have been a few cases of individuals who claim to belong to another world, or whose origins otherwise could not be traced. True, false, I don’t know.

Consider these two stories:

1. Lerina García, who woke up one day in a world — our world — that did not belong to her.

According to the story, as her day progressed she continued to notice “small incongruities,” little things that were just off. But there were big things, too:

“So I went to work in my car, which was parked where I’d always parked, and it was the same office I’d worked in for the last 20 years. But when I got to my department, it wasn’t my department. It has names on the door and mine wasn’t on it. I thought I was on the wrong floor, but no, it was my own floor. I went over to the office’s wireless section and looked myself up. I still worked there, but in another department, reporting to a superior I didn’t even know.”

2. A strange man who arrived in Tokyo in 1954 with a passport from a country that didn’t exist, called Taured. Japanese customs officials detained the man, but his passport was not a fake: it had the proper stamps, was issued by the country of Taured, and even included Japanese stamps from a previous visit. The man swore that Taured was a European country that had existed for 1,000 years, and he also held other papers, such as bank statements, with the country’s name on them.

After several hours, customs officials eventually placed the man in a hotel, with security nearby to ensure that he did not leave his room, while they checked things out.

The next morning, he was gone. No trace. A manhunt ensued, but there was no point; he had simply vanished.

Obviously, the veracity of these two stories can’t be confirmed, at least to my knowledge. But you work with what you have, you know?

So, do parallel universes exist?

The above “clues” are just some possibilities that I find intriguing, not that I believe any of them. But the universe is a strange place. What do you believe?

New Algorithm Will Allow Humans to ‘See’ Black Holes

Black holes are a fixture in science fiction, but human beings have never laid eyes on one. Researchers from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have now developed an algorithm to help people see these stellar wonders.

The algorithm is called Continuous High-resolution Image Reconstruction, or CHIRP. CHIRP will act as one large telescope, piecing together information collected from radio telescopes on the Earth’s surface. An image of a black hole will be created by filtering data and removing all atmospheric sound and interference.

This collective telescope, called the Event Horizon Telescope array, has six observatories currently participating. They will be attempting to "photograph" Sagittarius A*, a black hole at the center of our galaxy.

Katie Bouman, an MIT graduate student in electrical engineering and computer science said, "We would never be able to see into the center of our galaxy in visible wavelengths because there's too much stuff in between." Bouman, who led the development of CHIRP, explained that, "A black hole is very, very far away and very compact. It's equivalent to taking an image of a grapefruit on the moon, but with a radio telescope. To image something this small means that we would need a telescope with a 10,000-kilometer diameter, which is not practical, because the diameter of the Earth is not even 13,000 kilometers."

The researchers stated, "You could think of the model as a rubber sheet covered with regularly spaced cones whose heights vary but whose bases all have the same diameter," and that "Fitting the model to the interferometric data is a matter of adjusting the heights of the cones, which could be zero for long stretches, corresponding to a flat sheet. Translating the model into a visual image is like draping plastic wrap over it: The plastic will be pulled tight between nearby peaks, but it will slope down the sides of the cones adjacent to flat regions." 

We’ll take their word for it, but we can’t wait to see that mysterious celestial object and compare it to its cinematic representations.

“Ze hielden me in de gaten”: Bokslegende Muhammad Ali zag meerdere UFO’s, waaronder moederschip

Bokslegende Muhammad Ali, die afgelopen vrijdag op 74-jarige leeftijd overleed, was er heilig van overtuigd dat UFO’s bestaan. Dat schrijft de Britse Daily Express.

UFO-expert en schrijver Timothy Green Beckley had vanwege zijn fascinatie voor aliens meerdere ontmoetingen met het boksicoon. “Ali claimde zelfs een enorm UFO-moederschip te hebben gezien, dat hij in de gaten werd gehouden door aliens en dat buitenaardse bezoekers ‘van ongelooflijk groot belang zijn voor de wereld’,” zei hij.

In een ontroerend eerbetoon aan de bokser en mensenrechtenactivist haalt Green Beckley passages uit een boek aan dat hij schreef over beroemdheden die geïnteresseerd zijn in buitenaards leven.

Green Beckley ziet Ali als een geloofwaardige getuige. “Hij sprak eigenlijk alleen over zijn ervaringen als er iemand bij was die het verhaal kon bevestigen.”

This is some terrible news, but I thought you would want to hear about it. This astronaut was charged with murder of two children today and must come as a big blow to NASA. Very sad situation all around.

(CNN) A retired NASA astronaut has been charged with murder following an auto collision in Alabama that resulted in the death of two girls. James Donald Halsell Jr., 59, was arrested and charged Monday with two counts of murder in a possible DUI accident that killed Naiomi Deona James, 11, and Jayla Latrice Parler, 13, in the wreck near Tuscaloosa. The girls were half-sisters, according to the AL.com news website. Halsell's vehicle hit a Ford Fiesta from behind at an extremely high rate of speed, crushing and pushing the Fiesta sideways across the highway and into a median early Monday, according to court documents. The Fiesta flipped at least twice and landed in the lane of opposing traffic, the documents said. James was pronounced dead at the scene, and Parler was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, where she was pronounced dead. Police did not find any evidence of drugs or alcohol at the crash scene, but while searching Halsell's hotel room they found an empty bottle of wine and 10 empty sleeping pill packages, the court documents said. Halsell was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail and was released later after posting a $150,000 bond, Sgt. Alex Miles of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said. Halsell logged more than 1,250 hours in space throughout five space shuttle missions for NASA, according to biographical data from the space agency. He commanded three of those missions before retiring in 2006. He led the space shuttle's return-to-flight planning team after the Columbia disaster in 2003. CNN's attempts to reach Halsell and his family have been unsuccessful. 

NASA declined to comment about the arrest. Under the Alabama criminal code, a person can be charged with murder if he or she, "under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life ... recklessly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to a person other than himself or herself, and thereby causes the death of another person."

Triangle UFO under 500 feet over rural Ohio

An Ohio witness in Shelby County reported watching a low flying, black, triangle-shaped UFO that silently moved overhead, according to testimony in Case 76700 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was outside assembling a kid’s swimming pool at 8:40 p.m. on May 27, 2016, when the incident occurred.

“I saw a black object coming towards my backyard that was flying close,” the witness stated. “I thought it was a motorized glider.”

As the object moved over the witnesses’ yard, he realized it was not a motorized glider.

“My son asked,‘Dad, what is that?’ I said,‘I have no idea of what it is.’ I said it’s an alien. The object made no noise. It was black.”

The witness asked his kids to go inside and get his wife.

“I really have no idea of what it is. I told my parents the next day I saw a weird object in the sky. The object was just floating in the sky and going northwest.”

The witness report indicates the object was moving less than 500 feet overhead. Ohio Field Investigator Joseph Pavlansky is investigating.

Arizona witness videotapes red lights UFO over Mesa

An Arizona witness at Mesa reported watching and videotaping two red lights in a vertical position moving northwest to east, according to testimony in Case 46492 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness videotaped more than 15 minutes beginning at 9:50 p.m. on March 16, 2013, from a second floor apartment complex along Lindsey at U.S. Route 60.

“I was going to close the blinds in my daughter’s room when the incident occurred,” the witness stated.“The reason I find this interesting is that there are two red, vertical lights that slowly moved from the northwest to the east. Possibly coming from the Anthem, Cave Creek area headed toward Superstition Mountains.”

The witness was comparing light colors to known objects.

“An aircraft is supposed to have green lights on this side. Red was the only light visible throughout the whole recording and it was steady and never rotated or moved out of position. At about 11 minutes into filming the top light begin to fade and then went out. At 15 minutes, 20 seconds, the second light began to fade and then went out. Near the end of the filming I do show an aircraft landing at Falcon Field.”

“I have 21 years in naval aviation as an Aviation Ordnanceman working on fixed and rotary wing aircraft and their weapons; and six years in the aerospace industry. Three of those were manufacturing military helicopters and three were in Iraq and Afghanistan as a contractor with numerous Army Medivac Units. I have been in combat situations both in the Navy and as a contractor. With all this said, I know for a fact these are not military flares or other ordnance. As far as an air ship, balloon or other type of aircraft, I am 99 percent sure it is not. I do not know of any aircraft like this or that has formation lights like this and/or then extinguishes itself. There were no clouds or haze this night. It was a comfortable cool air. As far as a shape, I could not tell. I did try to look for something that would identify its shape and transparency but did not find any evidence of it. It was too far away to determine if it had a sound. I can only guesstimate the object(s) were 8-10 miles from me.”

Field Investigator Sandra Anthony investigated for Arizona MUFON and closed this case as an Unknown.

“Another sighting of most likely the same object from that evening was filed as Case #46242, which occurred at 9 p.m., Anthony wrote in her report.“The field investigator, Snow, concluded that it was an Unknown. This investigator also determined that there were three additional reports of this object that were not reported to MUFON.”

Anthony also noted weather information during the time of the sighting: 75 degrees, 3.5 mph winds out of the east-southeast, clear sky.

“Wind direction would not indicate sky lanterns, etc.,” Anthony stated.

This UFO was seen over the mountains of Turkey and it does look like a dark disk. This is the classic disk shape and has been seen two times recently.

Today at noon an object in the skies of Denizli was seen, it brought to mind the possibility of UFOs. It was an issue that the UFO again appeared in Denizli. Earlier it was seen in Pamukkale and thought to be a reflected image onto the TV camera, but this time it was recorded by a private citizen named Ahmed. 

The pictures were taken in front of the Pamukkale travertine as Özel by 17:40. An unidentified flying object was seen over travertine. After a while the object was seen moving across the sky to settle over the ancient theater before it slowly disappeared. 

Ahmed stated,  "Well, I do not want you to panic, but I took this photo with my own camera and I do not understand."
