UFO Over Zapopan Jalisco Mexico Glows Like Holy Cross, Nov 2016, Video, UFO Sighting News
Date of sighting: November 2016 Location of sighting: Zapopan Jalisco, Mexico Here is a sighting fresh in from Mexico. A UFO that resembles a glowing holy cross was seen and could be a sign of good things to come on this planet. A sign of hope. This UFO is remarkably beautiful and is like nothing I have ever seen in reports before. Scott C. Waring
Video states: A UFO captured in Zapopan Jalisco Mexico in November of this year, which remained static for a long time.
You may have heard in the news recently about weird or mysterious radio signals coming from outer space. It doesn't matter when you're reading this article — mysterious radio signals from outer space are almost always in the news. About every six months or so, a flash of excitement and discussion ripples around the world as reports come in from some telescope or probe and the unexplained nature of its observations.
An unusually strong signal from a sun-like star. A repeated pattern that seems too precise to be natural. Bleeps and bloops from unknown sources with head-scratching signatures. Sure, there's a ton of stuff in space that could potentially maybe kind-of-sort-of create those signals, but could this … be it? Could this be the key piece of evidence that answers one of the ultimate existential questions? Are we alone?
No serious astronomer ever wants to rush out and blurt, "Hey, everyone! I've found aliens!" But at the same time, there's a strong desire to get your name in the history books. So when these signals pop up, you get lots of shrugging and hemming and hawing and "Look, we're pretty sure it's natural, but we can't rule out aliens," kind of talk. [Greetings, Earthlings! 8 Ways Aliens Could Contact Us]
Let me tell you a couple of stories.
Pulsars
In the late 1960s, astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell Burnell was working with her adviser, Antony Hewish, with his fancy new radio telescope near Cambridge, England. After scanning a particular spot in the sky, they recorded an unusual signal: A source in the sky was sending frequent, repeated bursts, separated by an eerily precise 1.33 seconds.
The signal was so regular, so exact. Not knowing what to think of it, they cheekily named their source "LGM" — for "little green men." They didn't think they had found an advanced E.T. civilization, but … well, you never know. Better safe than sorry. Just in case.
The LGM hypothesis started to weaken when they found another source, and another, and another. And many others. Finally, the theorists woke up, started paying attention and figured it out: The signals were not caused by little green men, but rather little white neutron stars, wrapped in incredibly strong magnetic fields, beaming jets of radiation into space like a lighthouse. Today, we call them pulsars.
Wow!
In 1977, astronomer Jerry Ehman was listening with his "Big Ear," a radio telescope operated by The Ohio State University. Finished with its scientific mission, the telescope was dedicated to SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) observations. And one night, a huge, bright, continuous signal fell into the telescope's narrow field of view. For 72 seconds, the source shouted into the Big Ear at a peculiar frequency: 1,420 megaherz, the frequency that neutral hydrogen naturally emits via a spin-flip transition of its electron. It was a very unmistakable frequency, a cosmological calling card.
In 1998, the Parkes radio telescope in Australia started picking up an odd signal: Little "chirps" would occasionally hop from one frequency to another, lasting just a few milliseconds and coming from seemingly nowhere. Chirp, chirp, chirp; the little signals — called "perytons" — befuddled the telescope operators and astronomers across the world for decades.
That is, until 2015, when graduate student Emily Petroff and collaborators nailed the culprit: the microwave in the visitor center. You ever get impatient and open the microwave door before it's done? Yeah, their particular model didn't shut down very quickly and would leak a little bit of microwave radiation that the telescope picked up.
Aliens are never the answer
In all of these cases, and many more, speculation can overrun evidence — not necessarily by the astronomers involved, but almost always in the discussions surrounding the detections. The public is primed for alien transmissions: We talk to each other with radio, and if the SETI Institute or other groups pick up a weird radio signal, maybe it's aliens talking to us, we surmise.
Here's the thing: The hypothesis that aliens are causing a mysterious radio signal is almost always useless, because intelligent creatures can create almost any signal they want. Hear a bleep-bleep-bloop? Maybe aliens did it. Whoops! I meant bloop-bloop-bleep. Well, aliens could have done that, too. There's no predictive power in the "aliens did it" hypothesis. We can't ever disprove it. [Watch: Paul Sutter discusses the alien hypothesis]
When a natural astrophysical explanation is weak or not very convincing, there's often a temptation to wonder if aliens are behind it. After all, we can't rule out aliens! Exactly. We can't ever rule out aliens, because intelligent actors are capable of pretty much anything. We can't rule them out, so it's a scientifically useless position.
It's a very, very, very big leap to go from "We don't know what's causing this signal," to "Maybe aliens are causing this signal."
Astronomers love their radio telescopes because they get useful science done, but there are always all sorts of unexplained phenomena in the universe. That's kind of the reason astronomers remain employed — there's lots of stuff we simply don't understand. Signals, features, observations, the works. It's a big universe out there.

Earth is not even close to ready for a close encounter with extraterrestrials.
Seth Shostak, who works on detecting radio signals from extraterrestrials at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute in Mountain View, told Live Science that "protocols" were drawn up in the 1990s to deal with possible alien transmissions.
"They say, 'If you pick up a signal, check it out . . . tell everybody . . . and don't broadcast any replies without international consultation,' whatever that means," he said in an interview also posted on NBC News.
"But that's all that the protocols say, and they have no force of law. The United Nations took a copy of the early protocols and put them in a file drawer somewhere, and that's as official as they ever got."
Shostak said he is not aware of any government-level plans or established procedures in case of an alien contact, nor are there "'Men in Black' government investigators of UFO lore" like those depicted in the comedy sci-fi movie.
"In 1997, we got a signal that looked pretty promising for most of the day," Shostak said. "We thought it was possibly the real deal. I kept waiting for the 'Men in Black' to show up — they didn't. I kept waiting for the Pentagon to call. I kept waiting for the White House to call. They didn't call. But The New York Times called."
Shostak argues even though there is no action plan for government agencies or the military in case of an encounter, it might not make much sense to devise one.
"It would be like the Neanderthals having a plan in case the U.S. Air Force showed up," he said.
At any rate, he said, ET knows where we live.
Television and radio signals "have been going out into space since the Second World War, so we've already told them we're here," Shostak said.

Science of 'Arrival': If Aliens Call, Does Humanity Have a Plan?
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" movie from 1977 Colombia Pictures
The science fiction movie "Arrival," which opened in theaters this month, poses tantalizing questions about how humans might make contact — and eventually communicate — with intelligent aliens. The much-hyped film has renewed people's interest in the search for intelligent life elsewhere in the universe. But what would happen if humans really did make contact with an intelligent alien civilization? If E.T. calls, is there a plan?
The answer is yes, and no, said astronomer Seth Shostak, who leads efforts to detect radio signals from extraterrestrial civilizations at the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California.
"There are some protocols, but I think that's an unfortunate name, and it makes them sound more important than they are," Shostak told Live Science.
In the 1990s, Shostak chaired a committee of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) that prepared a revised version of the "post-detection protocols" for researchers who watch for possible alien transmissions using radio telescopes, a field known as SETI (short for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence).
The protocols were first drawn up in the 1980s to help scientists in the United States and the Soviet Union share information about any potential SETI signals. But, Shostak explained, the SETI post-detection protocols are guidelines for governments and scientists, rather than a global action plan for dealing with alien contact.
"They say, 'If you pick up a signal, check it out ... tell everybody ... and don't broadcast any replies without international consultation,' whatever that means," he said. "But that's all that the protocols say, and they have no force of law. The United Nations took a copy of the early protocols and put them in a file drawer somewhere, and that's as official as they ever got.""
Men in Black
"In the movie "Arrival," spaceships land in several cities around the world, and a linguist (portrayed by actress Amy Adams) and a physicist (played by actor Jeremy Renner) are recruited as part of an international effort to try to communicate with the aliens and find out why they are here.
In real life, apart from the protocol dictating that researchers should share news about SETI signals with other astronomers around the world, Shostak said he is not aware of any government-level plans or established procedures in case of an alien contact, whatever form it might take.
And it seems there really are no "Men in Black," shadowy government investigators of UFO-lore, depicted in the comedy sci-fi movie series starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
"If [the government] could afford the 'Men in Black,' then they could afford to support SETI," Shostak joked.
But the U.S. government has shown no interest in SETI research so far, he said. "It's not a government program, so they have nothing to do with it. I would love to see some interest from them, but I never have,"he added.
After one early SETI "false alarm,"which eventually turned out to be a signal from a European research satellite, the only response was from journalists.
"In 1997, we got a signal that looked pretty promising for most of the day. We thought it was possibly the real deal," Shostak said. "I kept waiting for the 'Men in Black' to show up — they didn't. I kept waiting for the Pentagon to call. I kept waiting for the White House to call. They didn't call. But The New York Times called."
The supposed military plan, which became known as "Seven Phases to Contact," was first reported in a 1967 book on UFOs by the American broadcaster and UFOresearcher Frank Edwards.
But Shostak said he has seen no sign of any extraterrestrial action plan for U.S. government agencies or the military. "As far as I know, there's nothing, and I think I would have heard something because of the [SETI] false alarms," he said.
While detecting an alien radio signal would be different from encountering spaceships that landed on Earth, Shostak doesn't think protocols will play a big part in how we respond.
"Some people asked me at a conference last week, 'What plan does the military have to deal with aliens should they land?' And I said, 'I don't know … but to the best of my knowledge, they don't have a plan.
'"Shostak noted that any aliens who could travel here in a spacecraft would need to be centuries or thousands of years more technologically advanced than humans are now, so it's almost impossible to imagine the consequences of contact between the species, let alone the thought of developing a plan to deal with them.
"It would be like the Neanderthals having a plan in case the U.S. Air Force showed up," he said.
Calling planet Earth
Although the aliens in "Arrival"helpfully travel to Earth in faster-than-light spaceships, willing and ready to talk, Shostak said a more likely "first contact" scenario would be the detection of a SETI radio signal, perhaps from a source hundreds or thousands of light-years away.
That means it could take centuries for the aliens to receive any reply transmitted from Earth in an effort to communicate with them, he said. As such, there might not be any real hurry to decide what to say.
And if E.T. does call, what should humans say in response? Some scientists, including British physicist Stephen Hawking, have expressed concern about "Active SETI" programs designed to transmit messages from Earth to any aliens that might be listening. Hawking warned of the potential threat posed by unknown extraterrestrials and their alien motivations.
There's also the difficult matter of making the right first impression in any extraterrestrial chat, Shostak said.
"I've been to several conferences where people discuss whether we should tell [aliens] all the bad things about humanity, or just the good things, and that sort of thing," he said. "But I think that is terribly overdrawn. To me, that would be like the indigenous people of Australia seeing Capt. Cook coming over the horizon in his ship, then saying, 'We're going to have a couple of conferences to discuss what we're going to talk to these guys about, and what language we'll use' — [but] it doesn't matter."
Shostak pointed out that humans have already been broadcasting newsinto space for decades, in the form of television and radio signals, and so it's probably too late to keep quiet.
"Those signals have been going out into space since the Second World War, so we've already told them we're here," he said.
In 1980 I had bought a house in Colchester Vermont, on camp Kinya road, near from route 2. My house was a couple of houses down from the corner of Clay Point and Camp Kinya road. In 1980 my wife and I were putting on a birthday party for my brother-in-law.
Everyone started showing up after supper time. After a while I needed a break from the party noise, so went out to smoke a cigarette. I was thinking to myself what a great night it was. It was warm, bright sky, lots of stars, and a very quiet country night. I was looking at the stars when I saw something moving up by the stars, I was looking east. I thought maybe it was just my eyes playing tricks on me so I looked down to clear my vision. When I looked up again I noticed this light that looked like a star but it had no star like rays to it. It was in a different place than I had seen it before. It was getting closer to me from the stars. It was moving very slow. It was round, very bright but it was not a blinding light. I watched it for about 30 minutes moving towards me. By looking at it it seemed to be the size of a star. It still had a ways to go before it reached earth. It was moving erratically, it had no sense of direction where it wanted to go.
After another 15 minutes of watching it was still coming toward me. It still had no direction falling out of the sky. Finally the light ball passed over me headed west. It looked like it was moving just above the trees. After it passed me it headed away from the ground.
When it did I said to myself “what the hell is that”. I was trembling inside. It made no sounds. It seemed to be just floating. Then it started moving towards me again, it stopped behind the trees. It still seemed to be floating. It looked to be between 100 and 1000 feet of the ground at this time. It scared me because it had stopped. I wasn’t sure what would happen next. It felt like I couldn’t move. I was screaming at it your not going to take me. Screaming at seemed to break the trance like state I was in. I ran inside and said there was a ufo outside, they all laughed. I said come out and look for yourselves. My sister and her friend came back outside with me. We all looked up and it was still there in the same spot. I pointed at it and said there it is.
After saying this the object took off at the speed of light. It looked to change in to a tear drop type shape as it took off. It headed north for about 3 seconds then veered to the east at a low altitude. I then lost sight of it. I got in my car to follow in the direction it went. I pulled onto route 2 and headed east coming to chimney corners store. I saw a pay phone with two old lady’s at it. One was on the phone. As I walked up to them they were saying they saw something crash on Cobble Hill mountain in Milton Vermont as they were driving.
While they were on the phone I was looking in the direction they said it had crashed when I saw the light, still in a teardrop form, head south into space.
NOTE:The above image is CGI.
KENS NOTE:I spoke to the witness today and he told me about this encounter. I though I would share this important event. I am in the process of investigating another case by this witness and he has seen some strange things over the years. Many people have more than one encounter and these craft seem to follow certain people around for them to see. The is definitely seems to be some kind of connection.

UFO Photographs From Himeji City Japan - Aug 1976, Video, UFO Sighting News.
Date of sighting: Aug 1976 Location of sighting: Himeji, Japan
Here is a very interesting report from back in 1976 in Japan. This UFO is 100% identical to the one seen here in Taiwan about 10 years ago. Slow speed, dark, small. Click here to see that old 2010 sighting. Its the same UFO but more light so you can see its metallic surface. Scott C. Waring-Taiwan Report states:
In late August of 1976, 11-year-old Hiroshi Tsutsui of Himeji City, Japan, and two of his friends were playing near his home when they spotted a dark object moving towards them in the sky. Hiroshi captured four color photos of the object as it silently flew overhead. This was the not the first time they witnessed this object. A month prior it was seen and photos were attempted, but they were unable to get the exposure correct. The photos came to light when an employee in a photo shop noticed the strange pictures while going through processing and made a note to call the photographer. He also contacted a UFO research organization and advised them of the photos and the photographer. An examination of the photographs by photo experts failed to show any evidence of fraud. The object progression in the series of images is consistent and it grows in size as it approaches until a definite structured form is visible.

UFO Moves Over Village In Peru On Nov 22, 2016, UFO Sighting News.
Date of sighting: Nov 22, 2016 Location of sighting: Alonso de Alvarado-Roque District, Peru News source:http://inexplicata.blogspot.tw
This is a great sighting in an area with very few people and yet this was recorded in the lower level of the clouds. A UFO that is trying to match the color of the clouds so that it blends it. Scott C. Waring News states:
A UFO sighting was a cause for commotion among residents of the Alonso de Alvarado-Roque district, Provicne of Lamas. The object remained visible in the skies over this locality for several minutes, visible to a considerable number of townsfolk who had no idea what they were looking at. The event took place around 5:30 in the afternoon. At times the object resembled a satellite; at others, it resembled a triangular object that generated a radiant light from within. The UFO's manifestation became a source of diverse opinions in the community, even causing some citizens to say that the coming of Christ was at hand, while others stated that the object was part of the modern technology used by developed countries to monitor Peruvians.
Did NASA Mars Rover Find a Signature of Past Life?
Did NASA Mars Rover Find a Signature of Past Life?
By Leonard David, Space.com's Space Insider Columnist
During its wheeled treks on the Red Planet, NASA's Spirit rover may have encountered a potential signature of past life on Mars, report scientists at Arizona State University (ASU).
To help make their case, the researchers have contrasted Spirit's study of "Home Plate" — a plateau of layered rocks that the robot explored during the early part of its third year on Mars — with features found within active hot spring/geyser discharge channels at a site in northern Chile called El Tatio.
The work has resulted in a provocative paper: "Silica deposits on Mars with features resembling hot spring biosignatures at El Tatio in Chile." [5 Bold Claims of Alien Life]
Field work
As reported online last week in the journal Nature Communications, field work in Chile by the ASU team — Steven Ruff and Jack Farmer of the university's School of Earth and Space Exploration — shows that the nodular and digitate silica structures at El Tatio that most closely resemble those on Mars include complex sedimentary structures produced by a combination of biotic and abiotic processes.
"Although fully abiotic processes are not ruled out for the Martian silica structures, they satisfy an a priori definition of potential biosignatures," the researchers wrote in the study.
Ancient setting
Spiritlanded on Mars in January 2004, a few weeks before its twin, Opportunity, touched down in a different part of the Red Planet. Both golf-cart-size rovers were tasked with looking for signs of past water activity during their missions, which were originally planned to last three months.
Spirit encountered outcrops and regolith composed of opaline silica (amorphous SiO2nH2O) in an ancient volcanic hydrothermal setting in Gusev crater.
An origin via either fumarole-related acid-sulfate leaching or precipitation from hot spring fluids was considered possible. "However, the potential significance of the characteristic nodular and [millimeter]-scale digitate opaline silica structures was not recognized," Ruff and Farmer noted in the new study.
El Tatio: Mars-like conditions
The physical environment of El Tatio offers a rare combination of high elevation, low precipitation rate, high mean annual evaporation rate, common diurnal freeze-thaw and extremely high ultraviolet irradiance.
"Such conditions provide a better environmental analog for Mars than those of Yellowstone National Park (USA) and other well-known geothermal sites on Earth," suggested Ruff and Farmer. "Our results demonstrate that the more Mars-like conditions of El Tatio produce unique deposits, including biomediated silica structures, with characteristics that compare favorably with the Home Plate silica outcrops. The similarities raise the possibility that the Martian silica structures formed in a comparable manner."
Biosignature definition
Previously, a NASA science team defined a potential biosignature as "an object, substance and/or pattern that might have a biological origin and thus compels investigators to gather more data before reaching a conclusion as to the presence or absence of life."
"Because we can neither prove nor disprove a biological origin for the microstromatolite-like digitate silica structures at Home Plate, they constitute a potential biosignature according to this definition," Ruff and Farmer wrote.
Spirit of future exploration
Spirit bogged down on Mars in May 2009, becoming stuck in soft soil.
In late January 2010, after months of attempts to free the rover, NASA dubbed the wheeled robot a stationary research platform. The lack of mobility and the harsh climes of Mars conspired to seal Spirit's fate, with attempts to regain contact with the robot ending in May 2011. Subsequently, NASA announced the end of contact efforts and the completion of Spirit’s mission. (Opportunity is still going strong today.)
The ASU researchers suggested that a future and specially instrumented rover mission could perhaps provide a more definitive assessment of possible biogenicity of Home Plate silica structures.
"However, because of the challenges in obtaining unambiguous evidence in situ, coordinated microscopic and compositional analyses of samples returned to laboratories on Earth may be required to reach a robust conclusion as to the presence or absence of past Martian life in these rocks," Ruff and Farmer stated.

Imagine how surprised Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe would have been when he examined a "new star" that appeared in the sky in November 1572. Actually, you don't have to imagine it, because I'm about to describe it.
Of course, "new stars" had appeared and been noticed all throughout history, and their origins were always a source of wonder, confusion and argument. Comets were generally thought to be some sort of atmospheric phenomenon (perhaps the premodern equivalent of UFOs explained by "swamp gas and weather balloons"). And an occasional new star? Uh, how about a comet … without a tail? Sure, that works.
Either way, it was important to early European thinkers that messy stuff in the sky stayed in the sky, and not in the stars. In their worldview, the imperfect, dirty, messy, sloppy, Earthly realm stood in stark contrast to the mechanical clockwork perfection of the heavens. If something weird happened in the sky, they thought, it should be a part of Earth and not the celestial. [Know Your Novas: Star Explosions Explained (Infographic)]
So now we get to Brahe's surprise. Just before the dawn of the telescope age, his observatories provided the most precise measurements of the heavens possible with the unaided eye. One technique available to him for measuring heavenly distances was parallax — when nearby objects appear to move back and forth as a watcher switches viewpoints, while more distant objects hardly seem to move at all. Measure the back-and-forth, do a little trigonometry and voilà — you have a distance.
If the "new star" of 1572 was truly an atmospheric object, Brahe's observatory should have been able to measure its parallax. But it couldn't — the object was too distant — and Brahe was surprised. The new star was seated firmly in the heavens, embedded in the supposedly perfect and unchanging celestial realm.
A star is born
Brahe described his observations in a manuscript with a sufficiently braggadocio title: "Concerning the star, new and never before seen in the life or memory of anyone." This work set off a revolution as astronomers grew to realize that stuff in space is not at all perfect and is actually kind of messy.
We now know that Brahe's "stella nova" ("new star") was actually a supernova, but for centuries, the Latin word "nova" was attached to anything new in the sky. It wasn't until the 1930s that stricter definitions were sorted out: If a star completely blew up, it was a supernova; if it didn't, it was a regular nova.
But even that wasn't enough, as modern observers discovered different classes of objects, mechanisms and processes that led to outbursts in the sky. "Supernova" got to stay "supernova," with newly labeled subtypes to indicate the specific astrophysical process, but "nova" was switched to "cataclysmic variable star," because… well, I don’t really know, but that's the world we live in.
When stars get fat
That longer name does serve at least one useful purpose, though: It indicates that something violent is happening to some stars to make them dramatically change their brightness. There are a few mechanisms that can cause the change, including the always-popular stars ramming into each other. But the most common scenario — and the situation that astronomers typically depict when the old term "nova" gets casually tossed around in hallway conversations — happens when two stars live together.
When stars are born together, one is more massive than the other. It could be by a little; it could be by a lot. But either way, the more massive of the duo will churn through its supply of hydrogen faster, as its increased gravitational pressure drives the fusion rate in its core to a frenetic pace. Meanwhile, the lower-mass sibling carefully sips at its fuel reserves, burning slowly and steadily.
With enough time, the larger star will run out of hydrogen, evolve into a red giant and briefly ignite helium. After violently spewing its layers of atmosphere into the surrounding system, it will finally settle down into a comfortable white-dwarf retirement.
The white dwarf — an unassuming ball of unfused and inert carbon and oxygen — can remain stable for trillions of years. That is, until its companion begins to undergo its own violent paroxysms.
Eventually, the smaller companion will run out of fusible hydrogen and enter its own end-of-life red-giant stage. If it were all alone in space, it would simply get larger. (Our own sun will likely engulf the Earth at this stage, but that's a different article.) But tied to its white-dwarf sibling in the binary system, the loosely connected outermost layers of the red giant's atmosphere can work their way onto the surface of the companion.
At first, this process is rather benign: The red giant's atmosphere of hydrogen simply accumulates on the white dwarf. Because the dwarf itself is made of heavy carbon and oxygen, the new supply of hydrogen doesn't really go anywhere, instead building up a thick blanket of material.
If the process stopped there, nothing interesting would really happen. But the process doesn't stop there.
At some point, the pressures on the bottom layer of hydrogen reach a critical point, and boom — the whole thing goes up in a single nuclear flash. If the detonation is sufficiently powerful to ignite carbon fusion, the whole white dwarf is consumed in a supernova, but if only the hydrogen layer goes off, it's a good old-fashioned regular nova.
Most of the time, such an explosion just happens once, with the white dwarf temporarily increasing in brightness by 50,000 to 100,000 times. But there are a few known cases of repeated events that we don't fully understand.
Astronomers have discovered one of the most massive objects in the universe
It was hiding behind the Milky Way.
DAVE MOSHER, BUSINESS INSIDER
Through the thick fog of our own galaxy, astronomers have spotted an ultimate prize: one of the largest-known structures in the Universe.
Called the Vela supercluster, the newly discovered object is a massive group of several galaxy clusters, each one containing hundreds or thousands of galaxies.
"I could not believe such a major structure would pop up so prominently" after an observation of that region of space, said Renée Kraan-Korteweg, an astrophysicist at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, in a press release.
Kraan-Korteweg and her team published their discovery of the supercluster, named after the constellation Vela where it was found, in the Monthly Notices Letters of the Royal Astronomical Society.
But if you’re an astronomer trying to peer beyond the Milky Way and into the deeper Universe, all of this stuff is in your way:
You are here.

This is especially true of objects behind the galactic plane, which is us looking through the 100,000-light-year-wide disk of the Milky Way from the inside-out.
That cross-section of the Milky Way’s disk of stars, gas, and dust is actually what we see when we look up in the sky in a very dark place:

To peer through it, Kraan-Korteweg and her colleagues combined the observations of several telescopes: the newly refurbished South African Large Telescope (SALT) near Cape Town, the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) near Sydney, and X-ray surveys of the galactic plane.
Using that data, they calculated how fast each galaxy they saw above and below the galactic plane was moving away from Earth. Their number-crunching soon revealed that they all seemed to be moving together - indicating a lot of galaxies couldn’t be seen.
"[I]t became obvious we were uncovering a massive network of galaxies, extending much further than we had ever expected," Michelle Cluver, an astrophysicist at the University of the Western Cape, said in the release.
The researchers estimate that the Vela supercluster is about the same mass of the Shapley Supercluster of roughly 8,600 galaxies, which is located about 650 million light-years away. Given that the typical galaxy has about 100 billion stars, researchers estimate that Vela could contain somewhere between 1,000 and 10,000 trillion stars.
Their calculations also show Vela is about 800 million light-years distant and zooming farther and farther away from us at a speed of about 40 million mph (18,000 kilometers per second).
Despite that extra and rapidly increasing distance, however, Vela’s influence can’t be denied. The researchers estimate that Vela’s gravitational tug on the Local Group of galaxies, which includes the Milky Way, has sped them up by about 110,000 mph (50 kilometers per second).
That’s quite a pull, and could help tell the incredible story of how our Milky Way galaxy - and we - got here.

Meet Vela, the Huge Supercluster Just Detected by Astronomers
Meet Vela, the Huge Supercluster Just Detected by Astronomers
European Southern Obesrvatory
IN BRIEF
Scientists have stumbled upon a surprise supercluster 800 million lightyears from us, which may contain up to 10,000 trillion stars.
The world of astronomy is abuzz with anticipation of what the James Webb telescope will allow us to see in the very near future.
A MASSIVE STELLAR GROUP
The vast universe hides many mysterious secrets, and researchers have just uncovered another huge one. Hiding beyond the Milky Way is the Vela supercluster, a newly discovered group containing several galaxy clusters, each containing hundreds or thousands of galaxies. The study is detailed in Monthly Notices Letters of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Astronomers from the University of Cape Town in South Africa made the discovery. The supercluster was named Vela, after the constellation where it was found. It’s one of the most massive objects in the known universe, containing an estimated 1,000 to 10,000 trillion stars.
The discovery was somewhat of a surprise. “I could not believe such a major structure would pop up so prominently.” said Renée Kraan-Korteweg, astrophysicist and proponent of the study.
Researchers’ calculations show that the supercluster is 800 million lightyears away, and is zooming farther away from us with a speed of about 18,000 kilometers per second (40 million mph).
What is Vela’s influence on our home galaxy? The giant stellar groups give us clues on how our own galaxy got to this location in the universe. Kraan-Korteweg and her team estimate that the supercluster’s gravitational tug has caused the Local Group of galaxies, where our own Milky Way is located, to speed up by about 50 kilometers per second (110,000 mph).
SEEING BEYOND
The astronomers’ observation and analyses of Vela was made possible using the South African Large Telescope (SALT) near Cape Town, the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) near Sydney, and X-ray surveys of the galactic plane.
Several developments in technology are enabling us to see further and clearer into outer space. The recent completion of the James Webb Space Telescope, which has a view 100 times larger than Hubble’s, is revolutionizing how we gather data about the mysteries of the final frontier.
Telescopes and lensing technology are giving us a deeper understanding of the celestial entities beyond our world, and effectively, of who we are in this vast universe.

10 fascinating accounts of ancient gods and their FLYING Machines
10 fascinating accounts of ancient gods and their FLYING Machines
“…there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.” Is it possible that thousands of years ago, ancient cultures around the globe misinterpreted beings with advanced technology as Gods? Looking at the countless descriptions of ‘Gods’ flying in what seem to be modern descriptions of aircraft and spacecraft we have singled out 10 fascinating accounts of possible misinterpretations.
If we look back in history, we will find that no matter where we look, what culture we analyze, gods worshiped thousands of years ago had the ability to fly. Whether ancient cultures referred to these gods as flying in Chariots of Fire, in clouds or as flying feathered serpents, it seems that all ancien cultures had a common attribute when describing their gods.
In this article, we bring you 10 fascinating examples of what some believe is evidence of technologically advanced beings which were misinterpreted by our ancestors as Gods, simply because they did not understand the technology present before them.
We start off with one of our favorite ancient texts, the Mahabharata:
“The gods, in cloud-borne chariots…bright celestial cars in concourse sailed upon the cloudless sky.” (Sitchin, 1985).
“…there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.” (2 Kings 2:11).
“And Jehovah was going before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them in the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give light to them, to go by day and by night…” (Exo 13:21).
Yahweh lands on Mt Sinai. “…And on the third day, it being morning, it happened. There were thunders and lightnings, and a heavy cloud upon the mountain, and the sound of a ram’s horn, very strong! And all the people of the camp trembled…And mountain of Sinai was smoking, all of it because Jehovah came down on it in fire. And it’s smoke went up like the smoke of a furnace; and the mountain quaked exceedingly…” (Exodus 19:16-18).
“…And the spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great tumult, saying, Blessed be the glory of Jehovah from his place; and the sound of the wings of the living creatures touching each other to the other; and the sound of the wheels along with them; and the sound of a great tumult…” (Ezekiel 3:12).
Jehovah comes down on the high places with a great heat: “For behold, Jehovah is coming out of his place, and will come down and walk on the high places of the earth. And the mountains shall melt under him, and the valleys shall cleave themselves as wax before the fire, as waters poured out on a steep place…” (Micah 1:3-4).
Furthermore, looking into ancient Egypt we find a description of King Pepi as he ‘ascends’:
“As an imperishable star; Flies who flies! He flies away from you, O men! He is no longer upon earth; he is in the sky! He rushes at the sky like a heron. He has kissed the sky like a falcon. He has leapt skyward like a grasshopper.” (Frankfort, 1948).
Another fascinating example which most likely is describing misinterpreted technology can be found when an ‘angel’ announces to Manoah about the birth of Samson to his wife, and who, after telling Manoah that his name is secret:
“…ascends in a flame of fire from the altar.” (Judges 13:2-15).
“And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the earthquake; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.”
“…a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, came. And they separated between them both (Elijah and Elisha), and Elijah went up in a tempest to Heaven. And Elisha was watching, and he was crying ‘My father, my father! The chariot of Israel and its Horsemen!’ And he did not see him again…” (2 Kings 2:11)

A strange theory claiming that there is a mysterious pyramid in the Antarctic has emerged.
Conspiracy theorists have posted a video on YouTube, in which they claim that US Secretary of State, John Kerry, visited Antarctica last week to visit an 'alien base' within the pyramid.
The video suggests that the images have been taken from Google Earth, but it is unclear whether they have been edited.

LINKS BETWEEN CONSPIRACY, NARCISSISM AND SELF-ESTEEM
Over the course of three online-based studies, researchers at the University of Kent showed strong links between the belief in conspiracy theories and these psychological traits.
The results showed that those people who rated highly on the narcissism scale and who had low self-esteem were more likely to be conspiracy believers.
However, while low self-esteem, narcissism and belief in conspiracies are strongly linked, it is not clear that one - or a combination - causes the other.
But it hints at an interesting new angle to the world of conspiracy and those who reinforce belief.
The video was posted by Third Phase of the Moon, a YouTube channel that regularly posts conspiracy theories on aliens.
It shows a pyramid-like structure in the snow, with a Google Earth-type label and pin.
The label reads 'Antartica Pyramid' – a misspelling of Antarctica, which suggests that image might have been doctored.
Responses to the video have varied, with some users backing-up the claims, such as James Jason, who commented: 'Excellent report Third Phase, I also believe things are about to get very dramatic, and that is for everyone on our planet.'
But others have dismissed it, such as Gordon Anderson, who said: 'I have spent a LOT of time on snow covered mountains- skiing down, and this looks natural to me - not man made anyway!'
Others have joked that John Kerry was there for other reasons, such as Daniel Schultz, who commented: '#27 on his bucket list, fly to Antarctica and make "snow angels" where no man has gone before.'
It is unclear what the structure could be, but it looks similar to a nunatak – a natural mountain peak that juts up above glaciers.
Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, told MailOnline: 'Pictures of the pyramid structures are either photoshopped, cropped pictures to make the mountains look more like pyramids or simply pictures of natural formations called nunataks.
'They are mountainous formations created by shifting glaciers and erosion, not by laser zapping aliens.'
Pyramids are often an area of interest for conspiracy theorists.

In October, a video posted on YouTube claimed that there was a crystal pyramid beneath the Bermuda Triangle, which was to blame for the disappearance of several planes and ships in the area.
Mr Watson added: 'There is always a mystique about pyramid structures.
'Back in the 1970s there were many claims that such objects could preserve food, generate health benefits and even keep razors sharp.'
