Duiker Sean Smyrichinsky trof vorige maand een vreemd voorwerp aan op de zeebodem in de buurt van Haida Gwaii, een eilandengroep voor de Canadese westkust. De man bracht de Canadese marine op de hoogte en experts vermoedden dat het wel eens om een verloren gewaande kernbom uit 1950 zou kunnen zijn. Dat blijkt na verder onderzoek toch niet het geval te zijn.

"Ik heb iets heel raars gevonden, ik denk dat het een ufo is," grapte Smyrichinsky vorige maand over zijn bizarre vondst, die hij omschreef als een groot metalen voorwerp in de vorm van een bagel. 

Een collega-duiker suggereerde dat het om een kernbom kon gaan die vermist is sinds een Amerikaanse bommenwerper in 1950 crashte. Experts bij de marine hechtten geloof aan die hypothese. 

Op 22 november ging de HCMS Yellowknife, een Canadees marineschip ter plaatse, in het gezelschap van de duiker. Na nader onderzoek van het wrak bleek het niet om een bom te gaan, maar om een stalen machineonderdeel. 

"We zijn verheugd mee te delen dat HMCS Yellowknife in staat was om het voorwerp te lokaliseren en vast te stellen dat het voorwerp geen niet-ontplofte militaire munitie was," aldus commandant Michele Tessier in een verklaring.

Hij lichtte de Canadese marine in, waarna experts zeiden dat het zou kunnen gaan om een verloren gewaande kernbom uit 1950.

Na verder onderzoek blijkt dat toch niet het geval te zijn, meldt de BBC.

Hij liet weten een groot metalen voorwerp in de vorm van een bagel te hebben gevonden.

Andere duikers en experts bij de marine dachten dat het ging om een kernbom die zich aan boord bevond van een gecrashte Amerikaanse bommenwerper.

Raadsel

De B-36 crashte in 1950 tijdens een trainingsmissie voor de kust van Brits-Columbia. De kernbom aan boord van het toestel is nooit teruggevonden.

Het mysterie van de vermiste kernbom in Canada stelt historici al meer dan een halve eeuw voor een raadsel.

Machineonderdeel

Afgelopen week heeft een Canadees marineschip het object nader onderzocht. Het bleek niet om een bom te gaan, maar om een machineonderdeel.

Smyrichinsky schreef op Facebook: “Uit metingen blijkt dat het een doorsnee heeft van 4,5 meter en de enige bommen van zulke omvang zijn in dit deel van de wereld nooit gebruikt. Maar ze weten niet wat het is…”

In November and December 1980, the eastern side of Britain was experiencing a major UFO sighting wave. There were chases of UFOs by police cars near the coast, a UFO that overflew an oil rig in the North Sea, and the wave culminated in the famous events on the East Anglian coast at Rendlesham Forest. Just a month before these landings beside those NATO air bases, one of the most impressive alien abduction cases took place in the small Penninemill town of Todmorden, West Yorkshire, right in the centre of Britain's most active window area known locally as "UFO Alley". 

Police Constable Alan Godfrey was on patrol on the night of 28 November 1980. Just before dawn he drove along Burnley Road on the edge of Todmorden looking for some cows that had been reported missing. They were only found after sun-up, mysteriously relocated in a rain-soaked field without hoofmarks to indicate their passage. 

Giving up his nocturnal hunt, Godfrey was about to go back to base to sign off duty when he saw a large mass a few hundred yards ahead. At first, he thought it was a bus coming towards him that took workers to their jobs in town and that he knew passed about 5:00 a.m. But as he approached, he realized that it was something very strange. It was a fuzzy oval that rotated at such speed and hovered so low over the otherwise deserted highway that it was causing the bushes by the side to shake. The police officer stopped, propped onto his windscreen a pad that was in the patrol car to make sketches of any road accidents, and drew the UFO. Then there was a burst of light, and the next thing he knew he was driving his car again, further along Burnley Road, with no sign of the UFO. 

Godfrey turned around and examined the spot where the UFO had hovered. The road was very wet as it had rained heavily earlier in the night. But just at this one location was a circular patch where the roadway had been dried in a swirled pattern. Only when back at the police station did he realise that it was a little later than he had expected - although any missing time was probably no greater than 15 minutes from estimates later taken on site. 

Concerned as to possible ridicule, Godfrey at first chose not to make an official report, but changed his mind later that day when he discovered he was not alone. After breakfast that morning, a driver who had been on Burnley Road three miles further out at Cliviger reported seeing a brilliant white object and contacted Todmorden police. The time matched that of Alan Godfrey's. Furthermore, a police patrol from an adjacent force (Halifax) had been engaged in a stakeout for stolen motorcycles on the moors of the Calder Valley and had witnessed a brilliant blue-white glow descending into the valley towards Todmorden shortly before Godfrey experienced his close encounter. Their story, when it reached Todmorden police station, formed a second match. 

Encouraged by this news Godfrey filed an official report, but was surprised when police chose to release the story to the local newspaper the following week. From here, UFOlogists discovered the case and a lengthy investigation was mounted by a Manchester-based UFO group. 

Although Alan Godfrey had no further conscious recall of the missing time, he did have increasingly confused memory of the sequence of events surrounding the sighting (with an unexplained image of seeing himself outside the car during the sighting). There was also puzzling physical evidence. His police-issue boots were split on the sole, as if he had been dragged along the floor and they had caught on something. He also reported a previous history of seeing other strange things and having experienced at least one earlier time lapse as a youth—factors that UFOlogists have come to recognise as common with abduction cases. 

When sure that all conscious testimony had been recorded, Godfrey agreed to be hypnotically regressed by a Manchester psychiatrist eight months after the incident. He eventually had several other sessions with different therapists, and his recall in later sessions was video-taped. The doctor refused permission to the UFO group for the first session to be recorded. 

The hypnotic testimony is very odd, and Godfrey was never to be sure what really happened. Under regression he told of the bright light stopping the car engine, causing his radio and police handset both to be filled with static and then to be swamped by blinding light as he lost consciousness. His next recall was of being inside a strange room, more like a house than a spaceship, complete with a most unexpected large black dog. He was studied by a heavily bearded man who telepathically conveyed that his name was "Yosef" and whose clothing was very Biblical in nature. Assisting Yosef were several small robot-like creatures "the size of a five-year-old lad" and with "a head shaped like a lamp". They are reminiscent of the "Grays" of UFO lore; although with major differences. 

Godfrey was supposedly asked questions, told that he "knew" Josef, and was promised a later encounter. But apparently he was not subjected to the more familiar indignities of abduction stories (especially from the US), such as bodily fluid samples and rectal probes. Although there were periods of missing memory, the hypnotic recall that did emerge was a curious hybrid of mythic images, UFO case elements and dream like sequences. 

When asked his opinion as to the reality status of this hypnotic testimony, Alan Godfrey was refreshingly honest. He told me he was certain that the UFO encounter was real, but he could not determine whether the story offered by hypnosis was a dream, a fantasy, reality, or a mixture of all three. 

Unhappily, Alan Godfrey suffered terribly after this encounter. When I first wrote up the investigation (just before the regression hypnosis began) for Flying Saucer Review magazine in 1981, I deliberately changed his identity to help protect him; although this was probably futile because the story had already been featured in the local press under Godfrey's real name. 

However, despite my refusal to assist them, a tabloid reporter traced the witness and devoted a front-page banner headline article to the story — read by millions over the Sunday lunch—which led to the officer being called to explain himself before his superiors. He was forced to undergo medical investigation to determine his "status", but was pronounced psychologically fit and healthy. Yet after some years feeling that he would never be allowed to forget his sighting, he took advice to honorably resign over an unrelated physical injury incurred during an incident in which he bravely intervened to avert a crime. 

Todmorden, both before 1980 and in the years since, has been a hotbed of alien contact activity with several other major encounters having been investigated, including another abduction of a truck driver from Burnley Road only a little further out of Todmorden and on the same highway.

This is a jellyfish UFO. They are less common than the flying disks that are often seen, but still many have argued that they are not ships, but living, intelligent beings. If thats true, then they probably can travel though space without the need of a spacecraft. Similar Jellyfish UFOs have been seen during spacewalks on the space station live cam.

A NEW THEORY

A new gravitational theory formulated by Erik Verlinde, renowned string theory expert at the University of Amsterdam and the Delta Institute for Theoretical Physics, might just do away with the roles of dark matter and dark energy in explaining the physics of the universe.

Modern physicists haven’t been able to explain why outer regions of galaxies rotate much faster than they should based on the mass and energy of the stars, planets, interstellar gasses, and other matter within them. The best explanation thus far for this strange gravitational behavior has been dark matter, a type of matter that we can’t see and that we haven’t really discovered yet.

Verlinde has a different explanation for these deviations in motion, and he calls his new theory emergent gravity. In his theory, gravity is an emergent phenomenon and not a fundamental force. As such, it’s a product of fundamental bits of information that are stored with the structure of spacetime itself. When those fundamental bits change, gravity emerges.

“We have evidence that this new view of gravity actually agrees with the observations,”says Verlinde in a Delta ITP press release. Indeed, using his theory, he has produced accurate predictions of the velocities of stars rotating around the core of the Milky Way and stars in other galaxies without any need for dark matter. By including an adaptation of the holographic principle within his theory, Verlinde is also able to account for dark energy, the unseen force causing the universe to expand.

A NEW PARADIGM

Our current understanding of gravity is largely based on Einstein’s theory of general relativity. While that theory can explain a lot of the behavior of our universe, it doesn’t hold up when applied to quantum physics, which becomes evident in extreme situations like near a black hole or during the Big Bang. Therefore, Verlinde and many other physicists think that our theory of gravity needs to be updated.

“Many theoretical physicists like me are working on a revision of the theory, and some major advancements have been made,” says Verlinde. “We might be standing on the brink of a new scientific revolution that will radically change our views on the very nature of space, time and gravity.”

Of course, Verlinde’s theory is still just that — theoretical — and it does have its limitations, including an inability to explain large-scale effects like galaxies clustering together. However, it is a plausible path toward reconciling the two pillars of modern physics, Einstein’s theory of general relativity and quantum mechanics, and therefore worth thinking about…even if it might make your brain hurt.

Plan to Colonize Mars? A One-Second Sensor Failure Doomed The ESA’s Mars Lander

MEASUREMENT ERROR

It was NASA’s MRO images that broke the news just a few short weeks back: the Schiaparelli  lander was dead.

NASA gave the first evidence that the ESA’s Schiaparelli lander seemed to have crashed on its descent to the Red Planet, which occurred on October 19, 2016. The ESA later released a statement saying that contact was lost with the lander and that the photos reveal a new feature in the Martian surface consistent with a crash…a crater from the impact site.

Now, new findings from the investigation reveal what may be the real cause of the crash. The ESA believes that a one-second failure in one of its sensors caused its systems to deploy prematurely.

Yes, just a one-second failure doomed the entire mission.

An ESA statement said that much of the mission went along smoothly. The lander was actually able to deploy a parachute 12 km off the Martian ground and release its heat shield 7.8km off the ground, just as planned.

As the lander was falling under the parachute, the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which measures the rotation of the lander, ran one-second longer than expected. When its erroneous measurement combined with the navigation data, the lander started thinking that it was below ground.

That made it release the parachute, remove its backshell, fire its braking thrusters, and deploy its sensors. All from an altitude of 3.7 km—and if you are breaking 3.7 km before you land, then you aren’t breaking when you are actually landing.

The final report of the findings is expected by early 2017.

EVERYTHING PERFECT

This is not the ESA’s first stroke of disaster when it comes to Mars. Back in 2003, Britain piggybacked its Beagle-2 Mars probe on the ESA’s Mars Express Orbiter. But after parting with the orbiter to get to the Martian surface, it was never heard from again.

These events show just how much preparation we still need to do to get humanity to Mars. Even just tiny, one-second events can send manned space crews hurtling towards their deaths in the barren wastelands of Mars.

Schiaparelli, Beagle-2, and even the Challenger disaster show how amazingly difficult space travel and rocket science can be. With aggressive launch windows and timetables being publicized by NASA, SpaceX, the ESA, and other space agencies, one must wonder if slow and steady wouldn’t lead to a better race (and finish line).

Synthetic Future: Revolutionary Center Will 3D-Print Human Tissues and Organs

• A new 'biofabrication institute' is being made that will scan, model, and 3d-print patient-specific tissues in one building.
• The ultimate goal is to 3D-print entire organs, which could save the lives of thousands of people on organ transplant lists.

A PLACE OF COLLABORATION

Most developments happening right now in the field of bioprinting come from individual laboratories that publish results that come from a controlled lab setting. At the present moment, rarely do the research institutes themselves specialize in 3D bioprinting. Instead, there is a separation between those doing the work and those using the fruits of this labor.

Driven by this emerging technology, the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in partnership with the Metro North Hospital and Health Service, has announced that they will establish a ‘biofabrication institute’ that will scan, model, and 3d-print patient-specific tissues in one building.

The institute will occupy two floors at the Herston Health Precinct and will be capable of performing the major processes in the bioprinting process, namely: clinical scanning, 3d modeling, and tissue engineering. It will also contain learning spaces and an innovation hub.

The Minister for Health, Cameron Dick, has expressed optimism on the endeavor, saying in the Brisbane Times that it will bring together various experts in the field of medicine, science, and engineering to “deliver the best outcome for patients.”

He adds, “This institute, opening in 2017, will catapult Queensland onto the global stage as a leader in medical innovation and technology that will change the face of healthcare.”

THE ULTIMATE GOAL

The ‘end goal’ for this institute, according to QUT Biofabrication and Tissue Morphology Group Associate Professor Mia Woodruff, is the 3D-printing of an organ. The institute could speed up developments in bioprinting, which may ultimately mean the difference between life and death for people waiting for an organ donor.

Woodruff says that the 3D-printed organs are taken from a patient’s tissue and, to that end, are not rejected by the body, eliminating the need for metallic implants or extensive antibiotics.

She concludes, “Organ transplant lists are endless at the moment and we want to be able to help these people.” Other advantages that 3d-printed organs have are much more customized prosthetics, drugs tailored to a patient, and 3D-printed bones.

President Eisenhower’s Deal With The Aliens

PRESIDENT EISENHOWER’S DEAL WITH THE ALIENS

In 1954, the race of aliens, known as the Tall Greys, who had been orbiting the equator, landed at Holloman Air Force Base.  They stated that their DNA is unraveling at an accelerated rate to which they will meet their ultimate demise very soon if they don’t find a solution.

The Tall Greys wanted access to the human genome for genetic research and planned to create a new organism that was both human and Grey, which is now referred to as “hybrid”. These organisms would be vessels used as genetic templates for the continuance of their race.  The Tall Greys stated that for purposes of genetic research, they wanted authorization to abduct humans. They promised that the humans would be returned to their place of abduction unharmed and with no memory of what occurred. 

The Tall Greys stated that they wanted their presence on Earth to remain a secret and that needed the government to stay out of their affairs. In order to keep their presence a secret, underground bases would built. One underground base would be a joint government/military and ET base. This base is referred to as Dulce Base.  In exchange for assisting the Tall Greys, the US government would receive their technology as well as further assistance with technological advancement. The Tall Grey’s would also stay out of human affairs. To make the deal official, a treaty was signed by President Dwight Eisenhower.  The Greada Treaty was signed by then President Elect Dwight Eisenhower . 

According to the testimonies examined so far, the February 20-21, 1954 meeting was not successful, and the extraterrestrials were spurned due to their refusal to enter into technology exchanges and insistence on nuclear disarmament by the US and presumably other major world powers. 

Cooper describes the circumstances of a subsequent agreement that was reached after the failure of the first meeting. While Cooper has a different version of dates and times for the 1954 meetings, he agrees that there were two sets of meetings involving different extraterrestrials meeting with President Eisenhower and/or Eisenhower administration officials back in 1954, under the Eisenhower administration, the federal government decided to circumvent the Constitution of the United States and form a treaty with alien entities.

Bewijs van leven op Mars mogelijk al gevonden in 2007 - HLN.be

MARS De Marslander Spirit heeft mogelijk al jaren geleden het bewijs gevonden dat er ooit leven was op Mars. Wetenschappers keken daar toen echter over, suggereert een nieuw onderzoek.

De kwestie draait rond foto's uit 2007 van een vingerachtige rotsformatie op Mars, op het Home Plate-plateau in de Gusevkrater. Wetenschappers van de Universiteit van Arizona hebben die structuur nu bekeken en vergeleken met gelijkaardige formaties op Aarde. Ze vonden bijna identieke structuren in het Chileense El Tatio die ontstonden door een combinatie van warmwaterbronnen en... micro-organismen.

Het team koos El Tatio omdat de omstandigheden daar erg lijken op die op Mars. Het geiserveld ligt meer dan 4.300 meter boven zeeniveau en zelfs in de zomer zakt het kwik 's nachts vaak onder het vriespunt, terwijl overdag veel ultraviolet licht door de dunne, droge lucht priemt.

De formaties op Mars lijken op stromatolieten die we kennen op Aarde. Dat zijn structuren die worden gevormd wanneer microben kolonies vormen in vochtige omgevingen en sediment vasthouden op hun kleverige deklagen. Die afzettingen reageren uiteindelijk op het calciumcarbonaat in het water en vormt zo hobbelige lagen kalksteen.

Het onderzoek wees uit dat de omstandigheden in El Tatio afzettingen van silica(siliciumdioxide) produceren met kenmerken die van alle silica-afzettingen op Aarde het meeste op die van Mars lijken. Het feit dat microben een rol spelen bij de productie van de uitgesproken silicastructuren in El Tatio doet de mogelijkheid rijzen dat de silicastructuren op Mars werden gevormd op een vergelijkbare manier - met andere woorden, met de hulp van organismen die destijds leefden.

Echte zekerheid daarover is echter pas mogelijk wanneer stenen van Mars naar labo's op Aarde worden gebracht, schrijven de onderzoekers in Nature Communications. Astrofysicus Dan Brown van de Nottingham Trent University vraagt zich verder af of we niet botsen op de limieten van de Marslanders en -rovers, en of het niet nodig is om mensen naar Mars te sturen. "Aan de andere kant toont dit aan dat gegevens die werden verzameld tijdens missies 9 jaar geleden, nog altijd waardevolle resultaten kunnen opleveren."

Methaan

Onderzoekers hopen op Mars bewijzen voor buitenaards leven te vinden omdat de rode planeet ooit stromend water en een atmosfeer had. In december 2014 nam de Marslander Curiosity ook methaan waar, een gas dat op Aarde voor 90 procent wordt geproduceerd door levende organismen.

Een wiskundige van de universiteit van Barcelona heeft berekend dat het wel eens vroeger met de mensheid gedaan zou kunnen zijn dan gehoopt. Volgens dokter Fergus Simpson van het Institute of Cosmos Sciences is er een kans van 1 op 500 dat de mens het komende jaar uitsterft en een kans van 13 procent dat dit voor het einde van de eeuw gebeurt.

Bright Green UFO Footage Filmed Over Japan – Nov 2016

A mysterious green ‘UFO’ has been spotted over Japan, leaving a trail of sparks behind it as it travelled across the sky.

The green orb was seen in Niigata, in the north of the country, in the early hours of Monday morning.

NASA Cut Off Video Again To Hide The Truth on UFOs, Conspiracy Theorists Claim

A UFO was observed hurtling across the International Space Station before the live feed was cut off. The video was captured by the High Definition Earth Viewing Experiment (HDEV) from the ISS. It shows an amazing shot of the earth from space.

It wasn’t the first time NASA cut off a live feed after an appearance of a mystery UFO as similar action was done multiple times.

The video, which was uploaded online by ColdPyro, shows an apparent faint, silver object flying across the screen. On an initial look, the UFO was an interesting dot that looked like it was accelerating. When the UFO moved out of the frame, the live feed went off suddenly that followed by the familiar message “Please stand by.” The message also informed the HDEV is either switching cameras, or a temporary loss of signal is being experienced with the International Space Station.

Conspiracy theorists say that it is NASA’s common practice every time a UFO appears on the screen. Because of the space agency’s repetitive action, speculations of a cover-up are on the rise against ISS and NASA.

The video was taken from the official ISS channel, according to ColdPyro, who posted it online.

The UFO can be seen for about 5 seconds to the left of center in the frame. Then the video suddenly went into a blank blue screen.

Ex-Chinese Government Official Confirms Aliens and UFOs Are Real

UFOs and aliens have been discussed in all walks of life for many decades. This year alone, there are hundreds of UFO sightings reported from different parts of the world, and some of them were from former government officials.

Now, a new claim has surfaced, this time from a former Chinese official who said some of UFO sightings could be real.

Shi-Li Sun, an ex-government diplomat in China, has created exciting news among alien UFO enthusiasts and researchers. The official shared some information during a disclosure hearing. He said that ET life and intelligent aliens are true.

He went on to say that government has substantial proof or evidence that aliens and UFOs have been here on Earth for many years. Shi-Li Sun’s disclosure took place at a recent Paradigm Research Group (PRG)’s UFO disclosure summit organized by Stephen Bassett.

The head of the World Chinese UFO Federation, Shi-Li Sun, claimed he, along with Chinese UFO scholars and researchers, has been studying all pieces of evidence for years. They concluded that UFOs and aliens are authentic.

According to reports, Shi-Li Sun has written various articles on the subject of UFOs and aliens, which have appeared in China’s Encyclopedia, edited by Shen Shituan, a prestigious Chinese scientist.

Shi-Li Sun once claimed that aliens have been here on Earth since many years ago and they are now living among humans. These aliens are difficult to recognize because they are disguised as humans, added Shi-Li.

Mystery 'fireball' drops from the sky over Siberia in bizarre footage - thought to be a falling meteorite

The bizarre object suddenly flashed across the sky before rapidly falling and disappearing behind trees

This is the moment a bright ‘fireball’ was spotted falling from the sky.

The bizarre footage was captured on a dashcam in the region of Buryatia in Southern Siberia on October 25, 2016.

It shows the dazzling object shooting across the sky before disappearing behind some trees.

During the fall, the strange 'shooting star' appeared to be rapidly losing height.

The 'fireball' is reported to be a falling meteorite , with eyewitnesses reporting numerous sightings at around 7.30pm.

One person who saw the fireball said: “There was a sudden strange flash in the sky.

“Something had flown by as if it was a comet with a great tail.

“Luckily, no glass had shattered due to the fireball though, which is very good.”

Last week conspiracy theorists filmed two UFOs crossing the moon , thought to be getting ready to launch a military assault.

According to an expert in the field, the two dark-coloured ships are shown in stark contrast against a bright white moon, seemingly flying side by side.

He wrote on his UFO Sightings Daily blog : “His editing software allows us to see its actual shape…a perfect saucer…two of them.

“There is no way these disks are satellites,” he adds, claiming that such manmade technology would not fly so close.

He added: “These are actual UFOs, flying in military style, because they are flying with a wingman to keep each other out of possible trouble."

A massive collision between Earth and a planet similar to Mercury 4.4 billion years ago may have provided the key to life, researchers believe.

Scientists have long been stumped about how carbon-based life developed on Earth when much of the element should have either boiled away or become stored in its core.

But researchers at Rice University, in Texas, USA, found the element's presence outside of Earth's core may have been influenced by an interplanetary collision.

Dr Yuan Li, the study's lead author, said: "One popular idea has been that volatile elements like carbon, sulphur, nitrogen and hydrogen were added after Earth's core finished forming.

"Any of those elements that fell to Earth in meteorites and comets more than about 100 million years after the solar system formed could have avoided the intense heat of the magma ocean that covered Earth up to that point.

"The problem with that idea is that while it can account for the abundance of many of these elements, there are no known meteorites that would produce the ratio of volatile elements in the silicate portion of our planet."

The study - published in Nature Geoscience - began in late 2013 when Dr Rajdeep Dasgupta and his team asked whether carbon, the basis of all life on earth, came from a neighbouring planet.

They mapped out relative concentrations of carbon that would arise under various levels of sulphur and silicon enrichment.

The experiments revealed carbon could be excluded from the planet's core, and relegated to a layer closer to the surface, if the iron alloys in the core were rich in either silicon or sulphur.

Dr Dasgupta said: "One scenario that explains the carbon-to-sulphur ratio and carbon abundance is that an embryonic planet like Mercury, which had already formed a silicon-rich core, collided with and was absorbed by Earth.

"Because it's a massive body, the dynamics could work in a way that the core of that planet would go directly to the core of our planet, and the carbon-rich mantle would mix with Earth's mantle.

"In this paper, we focused on carbon and sulphur.

"Much more work will need to be done to reconcile all of the volatile elements, but at least in terms of the carbon-sulphur abundances and the carbon-sulphur ratio, we find this scenario could explain Earth's present carbon and sulphur budgets."

Giant fireball sparks UFO fears as meteor streaks across sky in Florida

Dashcam footage captured the moment the huge bright light hurtled towards Earth before exploding in a flash

This is the startling moment a huge fireball ripped across the sky in Florida.

Stunned residents caught the giant bright light on camera as it streaked through the night sky across the US state on Monday night.

The footage shows the moment the unidentified fireball approaches Earth and finally explodes in a flash.

The celestial spectacle spooked some local residents into calling the police amid fears ALIENS were invading.

Dashcam footage from Venice police officer Seth Kenny caught the first video of the meteor at 11.17pm.

The second video was recorded on the security camera of Largo residents Christopher and Laura Scruby.

Police cruisers in North Port, on the southwestern coast of Florida, also caught the fireball on video.

The flash was so bright the evening sky lit up as though it was daylight.

Poking fun at theories of alien invasion, the police department posted the clip with the closing caption: "At least we know that we come in peace."

The American Meteor Society (AMS) has received over 150 reports about the fireball that was mainly seen from Florida, but was also witnessed in Georgia and Alabama.

According to AMS, a fireball is an extremely bright meteor.
