THE SEARCH FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE SHOULD INCLUDE ALIEN DEFENSE SYSTEMS, SCIENTISTS SUGGEST
A couple of scientists have considered how the search for extraterrestrial intelligence is conducted and, working off the idea that sufficiently advanced alien beings would at least attempt to build defensive structures around their world to defend against potentially catastrophic extraplanetary threats, suggest that one way such beings might be found would be through their defense systems. In fact, the scientists contend, the aliens would not necessarily have to be much more advanced than humans.
Inverse reported recently that Milan Cirkovic and Branislav Vukotic of the Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade have suggested in a study that searching for defensive structures that guard against something as devastating as a nearby (exploding) dying star could potentially lead to the discovery of intelligent alien beings. The duo posits that intelligent beings not much more advanced than humanity could erect artificial barriers or perhaps some type of megastructure to thwart an incoming threat like a gamma-ray blast or the expended electromagnetic energy of an exploding supernova.
Cirkovic and Vukotic write in the paper (per Business Insider), “For the present purposes, we note that no part of any spiral galaxy [like our Milky Way] can be considered safe from cosmic explosions in the long run. And as the timeframe considered by an intelligent species grows longer, more relevant becomes the issue of mitigation.”
Such mitigation would include planetary defense systems, something that our own planet has yet to develop but, Cirkovic and Vukotic believe, is well within humanity’s technological reach within the next century. An alien civilization just a few decades or more technologically advanced might have thought of and created such forms of mitigation already.
Such defense systems could be found much the same way as exoplanets are detected, by studying and recording the dimming of stars, a method known as transiting. The scientists suggest that there are observables to look for that could distinguish what they refer to as “shielding swarms” (like asteroids) from exoplanets: The mass of the shield construct would be the size of a planet with a great deal less mass than it should have; the structure will not obey the natural laws of motion; unusual optical properties (like infra-red absorption); and anomalous planetary reactions within a system affected by a supernova (derived from historical data).
As Inverse pointed out, the discovery of the mysterious dimming star, KIC 8462852, had scientists speculating that the effect could be caused by mitigating phenomena like planets, swarms of comets, and even a Dyson sphere (a theoretical artificial construct that would surround a star and harness its energy). And the Inquisitr reported in September that the latest theory behind the dimming was that the star was being occluded by an interstellar band of space rock and debris.

The Cirkovic and Vukotic paper appears to be an extension of the alien megastructure idea, that where one might find something resembling an artificial formation — whether it be a manufactured sphere or a shield of unnaturally aligned asteroids — that could be used as a defense, one might just find a nearby intelligent alien civilization.

If nothing else, the paper, which was published in Acta Astronautica, provides yet another method, along with the current searches for extraterrestrial transmissions and tell-tale atmospheric biosignatures, for detecting extraterrestrial intelligence.
Of course, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence has been going on for centuries, but the formalized and collective push to find intelligence came about when Dr. Frank Drake, the scientist that formulated the now famous Drake Equation for calculating the number of extant alien civilizations capable to extraplanetary communication within the Milky Way, pointed a radio telescope from the Greenbank Observatory in West Virginia at the distant stars stars Tau Ceti and Epsilon Eridani. His efforts, along with contributions from thousands of others, morphed into what would become SETI and the SETI Institute, the mission of which is to continue the search for alien extra-solar intelligence.

A NASA scientist has warned that comets arcing through our Solar System could pose more of a threat (or at least as much of one) than asteroids that are constantly in the headlines as being a potential danger to life on Earth as we know it. And there are several reasons why a comet headed on a collision course with our planet could be far more devastating, perhaps even producing an extinction level event not seen in tens of millions of years.
Live Science reported recently that the warning has gone out that not only is Earth totally unprepared for defending itself against an imminent asteroid strike but that comets on a collision trajectory would also likely pose greater risks to the planet. Such a collision might even result in the extinction of a majority, if not all, of the major living organisms on Earth.
NASA scientist Dr. Joseph Nuth of the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, during a news conference at the annual fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) held in San Francisco where he made a presentation on the asteroid deflection capabilities and possibilities currently available, suggested that scientists and policymakers should broaden the scope of the potential dangers to Earth hurtling through the Solar System. He said that comets, though often dismissed, are an ever-present threat and it was time that they, too, be considered when taking measures to protect against extra-planetary-generated impacts.
“Comets have largely been ignored by people that are interested in defending the planet.”
The primary reason comets aren’t given their due, Nuth said, was the perception that little can be done to stop comets. This is in part due to the difficulty astronomers have in spotting and tracking them.
“A comet comes out of nowhere, pretty much,” Nuth said during his presentation a few hours prior to the press conference.
In fact, the last near-miss comet, Siding Spring, buzzed Mars, coming to within 87,000 miles (140,000 kilometers) of our neighboring planet. And earlier this year, an asteroid or comet slammed into Jupiter, an event caught on camera by an amateur astronomer, according to CBS News.

But Earth has to worry about comets the size of Shoemaker-Levy 9, the comet that disintegrated in the atmosphere of Jupiter in 1994 after it was caught by the gas giant’s gravitational field. Scientists estimated, according to a Shoemaker-Levy 9 question and answer webpage set up by Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas, the size of the original comet from the fragments that fell to Jupiter as being approximately 3 miles (5 kilometers) to 6 miles (10 kilometers) across. (In his presentation, when Nuth spoke of giant asteroids that Earth needed to defend against, he referenced, as was reported by the Inquisitr, the “dinosaur killer” asteroid — or comet — that impacted some 65 million years ago, a space rock estimated to have been at least 6 miles (10 kilometers) wide.)
And scientists and agencies need to worry not only about them being spotted late in their orbits and limiting the response time to mount a defense, but also about size and trajectory and velocity. As Nuth explained, comets generally are larger than the average asteroid. The orbital paths of comets have also been found to be elliptical (as opposed to asteroids, where the orbits of most are roughly like Earth’s), with the comet making its journey from the outer reaches of the Solar System, moving in for direct hits (whereas asteroids usually strike the Earth at various angles). Whereas the asteroids travel at an average speed of 44,700 miles per hour (71,940 kilometers per hour), the long elliptical trips of comets see them pick up speed as they approach the sun. For instance, comet Siding Spring was traveling at 125,000 mph (200,000 kilometers per hour) as it passed Mars.
Greater mass. Greater velocity. Greater potential for a direct collision. According to Nuth, these factors provide for “potentially cataclysmic” consequences. He also pointed out that given that extinction-event-level asteroids and meteors collide with the Earth about every 50-60 million years on average and the last impactor, the “dinosaur killer,” hit roughly 65 million years ago, the planet was due for a catastrophic asteroid or comet strike.

The problem, as Nuth pointed out at the presentation, was that there was nothing at present the Earth could do about a hazardous object headed for the Earth unless there was at least five years to prepare or launch some type of interception or deflection mission. This was why along with suggesting that measures be taken to defend the planet more effectively, he also had suggested a possible solution at the presentation.
Nuth suggested a two-part defensive strategy which would employ an “observer” and an “interceptor” spacecraft. The former would study potentially hazardous objects to deem the seriousness of the threat. The latter, which could be outfitted with a nuclear weapon, would be used for destroying or deflecting the object.
“It’s really imperative that we reduce that reaction time,” he said at the news conference.
Other methods of deflection presented at the AGU included the suggestion of the use of lasers to target an incoming object, possibly producing gaseous jet eruptions from said object and knocking it from its collision-course trajectory, and the use of a “kinetic impactor,” described as “basically a giant cannonball,” that would act to batter an asteroid — or comet — off its trajectory.
Scientists using numerous computer simulation models of giant asteroid impacts on the ocean have found that the farther out into the deepest areas of the ocean, the more distance the object is when it strikes the water’s surface, has a profound impact on the potential for damage. In fact, given all the Hollywood-driven scenarios of massive tsunamis, virtual mountains of water crashing into coastal cities after an asteroid impact, it should be noted that such an event will likely never occur.
As Seeker reported this week, scientists at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico have found that tsunamis rolling in and over coastal cities due to the impact of a massive asteroid are likely never to occur, because 70 percent of the Earth’s surface is covered by water. The researchers studied different sized asteroids making impacts at different distances — and different incoming trajectories and different water depths — from the shoreline. They also studied the effects of asteroids that exploded as airbursts. As one might expect, asteroids that hit close to shore were devastating to coastal areas. However, as the distance from shore — and the water’s depth — grew, the less likely the monstrous waves created by the impact would reach the shore as a danger.
“Movies like ‘Deep Impact’ and ‘Armageddon’ suggested that an ocean impact would produce a devastating tsunami that would affect everything along the shorelines surrounding an ocean basin… but I was skeptical,” Galen Gisler, the scientist who led the project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, told Seeker.
Researchers found that Gisler was correct with his original hypothesis. The three-dimensional modeling showed that the tsunamis portrayed in the movies were fiction.

“An asteroid impact is a point source and it only affects the immediate region around the impact point and moreover, to create a tsunami, you need something that disturbs the entire water column,” Gisler explained.
A point source-generated wave loses its ability to propagate fairly quickly, the scientists found. As the Daily Mail noted, using the factors of a basalt asteroid, static air, and static water, “kinetic energy would be transferred to the water, and in the largest scenario, the visualization shows how a 250-meter-wide asteroid could create a transient crater, giving rise to a massive plume of water and water vapor.”
As ScienceAlert reported, such a jet of water from the initial asteroid impact could reach from hundred of meters in height to a few kilometers. Still, even with so much water falling back into the ocean, the resulting colliding shockwaves in both the atmosphere and the water, plus wind resistance at the water’s surface would work against the creation of a propagating wave.
Regardless, as Gizmodo pointed out, giant asteroids colliding with the ocean (or even exploding over it) are still incredibly dangerous, especially at point of impact — just not in the area of creating a tsunami.
“The most significant effect of an impact into the ocean is the injection of water vapor into the stratosphere, with possible climate effects,” Gisler said.
The release of water vapor into the upper atmosphere would only add to the greenhouse effect and contribute to the already runaway global warming problem facing the planet.

But the worst possible scenario, other than a direct asteroid impact on land? An airburst just off the coast. As Gisler noted, such a detonation near a “populated shore will be very dangerous” and could very well produce a tsunami like those seen in the movies.
The asteroid simulation study comes as a NASA scientist, Joseph Nuth, made remarks at a presentation in San Francisco on Monday that the Earth was unprepared to defend itself against a “dinosaur killer” asteroid strike. As the Inquisitr reported, Nuth warned that the Earth was somewhat due an extinction event-sized asteroid (considering the average time between such events is roughly 50-60 million years, and the last event occurred approximately 65 million years ago, contributing to the extinction of the dinosaurs) and “there’s not a hell of a lot we can do about it at the moment.”

Footage showing a mysterious glowing orb hovering in the sky over Fairbanks, Alaska, and releasing multiple smaller orbs mid-air before disappearing has sparked excitement among members of the online UFO community. UFO enthusiasts are touting the latest footage as the best example of a series of nearly identical clips released recently showing orb UFOs dropping smaller “pods” at several locations across the country.
The recent slew of clips allegedly showing orb UFOs dropping “landing pods” across the country sparked rumorsamong members of the UFO community that a secret alien invasion of Earth by possibly hostile alien races could be underway, the Inquisitr reported in February.
The latest footage was uploaded online on May 13, 2016, by YouTube user Jared A, a security officer in Fairbanks, Alaska. Jared began filming after he noticed a bright light in the sky at about 3 a.m. during a routine patrol in Fairbanks.
For about five minutes, he filmed the mysterious glowing orb floating in the air and releasing smaller orbs.
The clip shows the extraordinary moment that the UFO appears to release multiple orbs over Fairbanks. The first orb was released at the 1:30 mark in the footage and two other orbs were released at 2:30.
Jared exclaims in awe as the UFO releases two smaller orbs in succession.
The glowing orb appears to split into three. The three orbs assume a triangle formation. One of the orbs drops earthward rapidly, but all three fade gradually and disappear.
The awestruck witness appears to suggest that the orb looks like a craft dropping smaller surveillance crafts or drones.
“Wow! They are putting out drones man. Scouting the area I guess.”
“The phone does not do it justice, but it was brighter and just simply amazing to see,” he commented on Reddit.
The footage is going viral online having received nearly 10,000 views on the witnesses’ channel alone. A few UFO interest channels, including UFO News, have also uploaded copies.
The footage has sparked speculation among UFO enthusiasts, with many touting it as the best in recent times showing an alien UFO hovering in the sky and dropping “pods” to the ground.
This is a good example of how to record a UFO Sighting.
“Wow just wow! I wish I could see alien already it’s my biggest dream.”
Skeptics have been unable to explain away the latest footage as a hoax.
“This one is truly confusing,” one said.
But some skeptics suggested it actually shows space debris entering the Earth’s atmosphere and breaking up.
However, UFO hunters pointed out the remarkable similarity between the footage and several other clips uploaded online recently showing glowing orbs dropping what appear to be “landing pods” over multiple locations across the U.S.
The Inquisitrreported in February that multiple identical footage showing UFOs dropping or jettisoning smaller orbs over several locations in the U.S. caused researchers to raise alarm that a stealth invasion of Earth could be underway.
The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) has received several remarkably similar clips recently showing glowing or flashing orbs hovering in the sky and breaking into smaller pieces that drop or fall to the ground in a manner that suggests a large UFO releasing a landing pod.
The Inquisitr reported that UFO hunters suggested that the slew of sightings documented on video by unrelated witnesses from different parts of the country suggest alien invaders are secretly establishing sleeper cells in different parts of the county.
For instance, the footage below, uploaded to YouTube by MUFON on February 12, 2016 (Case 52934), was captured over Boise, Idaho, by a witness driving home with his wife on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013.
The clip, which appears to show a stealth orb UFO dropping a “landing pod,” was corroborated independently by two other witnesses who observed the same incident from separate locations.
The first witness (Case 52934) described the orb as glowing in the sky with a red light. He called his wife’s attention to it. She suggested that they pull over and watch. After observing for several minutes, the witness rushed home to fetch his video camera and managed to capture the final moments when the orb dropped a smaller flashing orb to the ground.
The witness filmed as the “landing pod” dropped slowly from the larger glowing orb, after which the light of the larger orb faded gradually and disappeared.
A second resident of Boise also reported seeing the glowing UFO hovering in the sky. In his testimony, filed as Case 52930, the orb hovered for more than three minutes before it dropped a smaller orb to the ground.
“This really freaked me out. I watch the sky all of the time and have never seen anything like this before.”
A third witness (Case 52942) also reported seeing a UFO releasing an orb that fell to the ground.
The Inquisitrreported earlier on February 12, 2016, a nearly identical case (Case 53762) involving a witness from Spokane Valley in Washington, who saw a UFO with an orange-red glow at about 7 p.m. on January 26, 2016. He watched as the UFO dropped a smaller orb to the ground.
According to the witness, the larger orb flew eastward and disappeared after it had dropped the smaller orb.
“The object stopped, flashed very brightly several times and then discarded something,” the witness said. “There was glowing discharge from the bottom of the object. The object lost brightness intensity and then slowly went away.”
UFO hunters analyzing the footage at the time suggested that the mysterious orb may have been an alien craft releasing a “landing pod” or an escape capsule.
A nearly identical sighting was also reported over California in January 2015. A witness sighted and filmed a mysterious glowing orb dropping another orb as it streaked across the sky.
Members of the UFO community claim that aliens live secretly among us. They cite testimonies by former high-ranking government military officials and scientists (see below) to back claims that aliens disguised as humans live on Earth.
According to Paul Hellyer, a former Canadian defense minister, the world’s leaders know that extraterrestrial beings, such as the Greys, Pleiadians, and evil Reptilian aliens, live among us and influence global politics.

Rockefeller
In 1928 kondigde hij aan dat hij ook over de Zuidpool wilde vliegen. Rijke Amerikanen als Edsel Ford en John D. Rockefeller junior sponsorden hem.
Op Antarctica bouwden ze een vliegbasis, genaamd Little America. Van daaruit konden ze reizen maken over de Zuidpool. Er werd een berggebied ontdekt en vernoemd naar Rockefeller.
In 1939 maakte admiraal Byrd op verzoek van president Franklin D. Roosevelt nog een reis naar het gebied.
Operation Highjump
Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog organiseerde Byrd een mega-expeditie naar de Zuidpool. Het reisgezelschap bestond uit ruim 4000 mensen, 13 schepen en 25 vliegtuigen.
Deze reis, die bekend staat als Operation Highjump, zou acht maanden duren, maar werd al na acht weken afgebroken.

Captured by UFO Sydney of Youtube, these white UFOs are turbo fast, if you have never caught one, then its only because you have never filmed the sky for an hour and then watched it on your computer in .25X speed (slow motion). These UFOs do exist, and they exhibit intelligence. They are also seem to feed off of the static electricity in the air.
Long ago, ago when my site got on CNN for a story about a lightening storm over Norte Dame stadium during a game (video has since been deleted for unknown reasons), these tiny white UFOs shot everywhere. There were thousands of them and even the score board was hit by lightening...evacuating the stadium. But these little white UFOs seemed so excited, so super charged. The did loops in groups right on live TV. It was amazing, no one noticed but me until I reported it, and it got on CNN. These little white UFOs...are alive. If you want to catch more of them, record on a tripod during a lighting storm. Or during the day with you have blue cloud background...since they are white, it makes it easier.

The UFO has a disk shape and is reflecting light from its surface, probably reflected from the moon or city lights. The UFO does have a metallic tint to it. Many UFOs have been seen over Australia since a large portion of the country is mostly uninhabited desert. Persons who are directly involved in the management of the extraterrestrial issues want disclosure to take place under President Obama and are ready to work with the SecDef (Secretary of Defence) if approached.
Those “persons” include an anonymous whistle-blower “within the military/intelligence community” who allegedly contacted PRG by email two days after the election to reveal the new openness to declassification of the files by the Obama administration.

De Bijbel vertelt dat Jezus – de Zoon van God – in een stal in Betlehem ter wereld kwam om de flink gehavende relatie tussen God en de mensen te herstellen. Een prachtig verhaal dat een interessante vraag oproept: heeft Jezus echt bestaan?
Consensus De relevantie van deze vraag overschrijdt de kerkmuren. De afgelopen eeuwen hebben historici wereldwijd zich over dit vraagstuk gebogen en er bibliotheken over vol geschreven. Het leidde gaandeweg tot een zekere consensus omtrent de historische Jezus, zo vertelt professor Robert Van Voorst, auteur van het in 2000 verschenen boek ‘Jesus Outside the New Testament: An Introduction to the Ancient Evidence‘, aan Scientias.nl. “De meeste moderne wetenschappers zijn zo overtuigd van de historiciteit van Jezus dat ze het bespreken ervan onnodig of zelfs een verspilling van tijd vinden.”

De bronnen Die consensus is gebaseerd op jarenlang onderzoek. Maar hoe doe je eigenlijk onderzoek naar het leven van een persoon die – naar verluidt – rond het begin van de jaartelling leefde? “Op dezelfde manier als een historicus onderzoek doet naar elke andere historische persoon,” vertelt professor Bert Jan Lietaert Peerbolte, hoogleraar Nieuwe Testament aan de Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, aan Scientias.nl. “Je gaat op zoek naar sporen die iemand heeft achtergelaten.” In het geval van Jezus gaat het dan om sporen in de literatuur. Het bekendst zijn natuurlijk de vier evangeliën – Mattheüs, Marcus, Lucas en Johannes – die in de eerste eeuw zijn geschreven en verslag doen van het leven van Jezus. Daarnaast zijn er echter ook verschillende niet-christelijke teksten uit de Oudheid die naar Jezus verwijzen. “Belangrijke Romeinse historici die aan het eind van de eerste eeuw werkten, zoals Tacitus en Suetonius, beschrijven Jezus als de oprichter van het christendom,” vertelt Van Voorst. “Ze stellen dat hij een beweging begon, gekruisigd werd en dat die beweging enigszins een bedreiging bleef vormen voor de Romeinse overheid.” Daarnaast zijn er verschillende Joodse bronnen die Jezus noemen.
“HET IS HOOGST ONWAARSCHIJNLIJK DAT AL HET MATERIAAL DAT JEZUS NOEMT TOT STAND IS GEKOMEN OP BASIS VAN EEN VERZINSEL”
Kritisch Er zijn al met al dus heel wat oude bronnen die melding maken van Jezus. Maar hoe betrouwbaar zijn ze? “Die teksten moeten we inderdaad heel kritisch bekijken,” vindt Lietaert Peerbolte. Als voorbeeld haalt hij het Testimonium Flavianum van de Joodse geschiedschrijver Josephus aan. In deze passage wordt Jezus meerdere malen genoemd. Maar er zijn sterke aanwijzingen dat er met de tekst geknoeid is: christelijke overschrijvers zouden het werk van Josephus hier en daar wat hebben aangepast. “Zo beschrijft Josephus Jezus als ‘een wijs mens, als we hem tenminste mens mogen noemen’. Dat laatste is er ongetwijfeld door christenen aan toegevoegd.” Net zo kritisch moeten we kijken naar Romeinse teksten en de evangeliën. “Je moet je continu afvragen: wat is historisch betrouwbaar?” En als we al die historisch betrouwbare materialen dan inventariseren, lijkt er geen twijfel mogelijk te zijn. “Het is hoogst onwaarschijnlijk dat al het materiaal dat Jezus noemt tot stand is gekomen op basis van een verzinsel,” concludeert Lietaert Peerbolte.
Origenes
Ontkennen Er zijn dus tal van teksten uit de eerste eeuwen die Jezus noemen. Maar zijn er uit diezelfde periode ook teksten die het bestaan van Jezus in twijfel trekken? Het antwoord is verrassend. “Nee, er zijn geen documenten uit de Oudheid bekend die het bestaan van Jezus ontkennen.” Dat is frappant. Zeker als je bedenkt dat er in de Oudheid wél mensen zijn die fel tegen Jezus tekeergaan. De Griekse filosoof Celsus (hij leefde in de tweede eeuw) is er één van, zo weten we uit teksten van zijn collega-filosoof Origenes. In zijn Contra Celsum vat Origenes de anti-christelijke standpunten van Celsus samen om die vervolgens te weerleggen. Zo lezen we dat Celsus de maagdelijke ontvangenis onzin vond en de goddelijke krachten van Jezus degradeerde tot magie. Maar zelfs Celsus trekt het bestaan van Jezus geen moment in twijfel. Het suggereert dat het idee dat Jezus niet echt had bestaan op dat moment ook helemaal niet in omloop was, aldus Lietaert Peerbolte. Anders had Celsus het ongetwijfeld in de strijd gegooid.
Net als van Jezus zijn van Alexander de Grote geen rechtstreekse portretten bekend. Pas veel later zijn mensen over Alexander de Grote gaan schrijven. Sterker nog: de periode tussen het leven van Alexander en het moment waarop er voor het eerst over hem geschreven wordt is veel langer dan de periode tussen het leven van Jezus en het moment waarop er (buiten de Bijbel om) voor het eerst over Jezus wordt geschreven. “En toch is het voor niemand een vraag of Alexander de Grote heeft bestaan, maar ondertussen is het bestaan van Jezus wel een vraag. Dat is frappant,” vindt Lietaert Peerbolte.
De discussie Hoewel de meeste moderne wetenschappers er op basis van al die bronnen dus van overtuigd zijn dat Jezus echt heeft bestaan, zijn er nog altijd onderzoekers die de Jezusmythe aanhangen. En zo af en toe vlamt de discussie over de historiciteit van Jezus dan ook weer op. Dat gebeurde bijvoorbeeld vorig jaar nog toen predikant Edward van der Kaaij zijn boek ‘De ongemakkelijke waarheid van het christendom‘ presenteerde. Hij stelt in het boek dat de historische Jezus nooit heeft bestaan en het leven van Jezus zoals dat in de Bijbel beschreven wordt, gebaseerd is op elementen uit de Oud-Egyptische religie. Lietaert Peerbolte ziet het als een opleving van een discussie die in de negentiende eeuw ontstond. Die discussie begint met het in twijfel trekken van de wonderverhalen: de passages in het evangelie die melding maken van een wonder dat Jezus verricht. Men stelde dat die wonderverhalen niet echt gebeurd zijn, maar symbolisch bedoeld zijn. In dat scenario vallen de wonderen weg, maar blijven de ethische lessen van Jezus overeind. Tot Allard Pierson in 1878 zijn boek ‘De bergrede‘ publiceert. Hierin stelt hij dat de bergrede – een ethische onderwijzing – van Jezus een compositie is van de evangelist en dus niet door Jezus zelf is uitgesproken. Na de wonderen wordt nu dus ook de historische betrouwbaarheid van de prediking van Jezus onderuit geschoffeld. “Voortgaand op deze lijn komt hij (Pierson, red.) tot het inzicht dat niet alleen alle bewijsmateriaal over de historische Jezus twijfelachtig van aard is, maar dat het uiteindelijk het beste geïnterpreteerd kan worden vanuit het perspectief dat Jezus geen historische figuur was, maar een gehistoriseerde verdichting,” zo schrijft Lietaert Peerbolte hierover in het Nederlands Theologisch Tijdschrift. “Pierson stelt dus eigenlijk: we hebben geen betrouwbare informatie over Jezus en dus heeft hij niet geleefd,” legt Lietaert Peerbolte aan Scientias.nl uit. “Als we diezelfde methode loslaten op Alexander de Grote (zie kader), moeten we ook concluderen dat hij niet geleefd heeft. Het is een hyperkritische benadering van complotdenkers die totaal niet wetenschappelijk verantwoord is. Ik spreek hierbij over complotdenkers omdat veel mensen met een hyperkritische houding het idee hebben dat een groepje losgeslagen Joden een mythe bedacht heeft over een godmens en die mythe vervolgens gepersonaliseerd heeft in Jezus. In dat scenario gaat de mythe dus vooraf aan het verhaal en het verhaal gaat weer vooraf aan de persoon. Dat is zo vergezocht. Dat kan ik onmogelijk serieus nemen.”
De Bijbel vertelt dat Jezus gekruisigd werd. Romeinse geschiedschrijvers bevestigen dat. “De kruisiging is een argument om te zeggen dat het bestaan van Jezus onmogelijk een verzinsel kan zijn. Het is namelijk zo’n ongelofelijk ongelukkig verhaal,” vindt Lietaert Peerbolte. “Het is de afgezant van God die aan het kruis hangt. Dat staat in schril contrast met de koninklijke gestalte die de Joden verwachtten en de machtige gestalte die volgens de Grieken de vloer aan zou vegen met zijn tegenstanders. De kruisiging kunnen de eerste christenen niet verzonnen hebben, want daar hadden ze geen baat bij en hebben ze eigenlijk alleen maar last van gehad.”
Relevant Dat de discussie over het bestaan van Jezus van tijd tot tijd oplaait, is geen wonder, vindt Van Voorst. “Het christendom is de grootste en meest wijdverspreide religie, dus de status van de belangrijkste figuur in deze religie – Jezus Christus – is belangrijk. Daarnaast is het christendom een op de geschiedenis gebaseerde religie waarin men – net als in het Jodendom – aanneemt dat God zich tijdens belangrijke historische gebeurtenissen liet zien. Dus of bepaalde mensen echt bestaan hebben en of bepaalde gebeurtenissen zich daadwerkelijk hebben afgespeeld, is belangrijk. Dit staat in schril contrast met andere religies zoals het boeddhisme of het taoïsme die gebaseerd zijn op onderwijzingen die hun oorsprong vinden in ongebruikelijke menselijke inzichten en niet gebaseerd zijn op personen of de geschiedenis. Als zou blijken dat Gautama Boeddha niet echt heeft bestaan, zou er in het Boeddhisme weinig veranderen. Als zou blijken dat Jezus niet echt heeft bestaan, zou het christendom zoals wij dat kennen ernstig beschadigd raken en misschien zelfs tot een einde komen.” Maar ook buiten de kerkmuren om is de vraag of Jezus echt bestaan heeft, relevant, vindt Lietaert Peerbolte. “Het maakt niet uit of je nu gelovig bent of niet: Jezus heeft een enorme invloed gehad op de wereld, zowel religieus als cultuur-historisch.”
Zullen we dan ooit nog met zekerheid vast kunnen stellen of Jezus echt heeft bestaan? “Dat is lastig,” denkt Lietaert Peerbolte. “Wat zou je daarvoor moeten vinden? Het graf van Jezus? Of zijn botten? Maar hoe kom je er dan achter dat het echt om resten van Jezus gaat? Je hebt geen DNA dat je kunt vergelijken. Misschien dat het ontdekken van een tekst van Jezus zou helpen? Maar weer geldt: hoe weet je dat die tekst echt van Jezus is?” Het is een probleem dat inherent is aan elk historisch onderzoek. “We kunnen niet verifiëren, alleen maar reconstrueren.” Van Voorst onderschrijft dat. “Zullen we ooit 100 procent zeker kunnen zijn van iets of iemand in het verre verleden? Ik betwijfel het. Des apparitions d’ovnis triangulaires rendent actuellement perplexes de nombreux témoins et enquêteurs américains. Depuis le mardi 20 décembre on note un nombre croissant d’observations d'ovnis triangulaires, dont 21 signalés sur la période de Décembre.
Mercredi, il été rapporté comment deux personnes avaient observé quatre ovnis triangulaires volant à basse altitude au-dessus de maisons situées à Bucks County en Pennsylvanie. Les rapports reçus par le MUFON mettent en évidence des objets se déplaçant lentement et à des altitudes relativement basses, de grande taille et avec des lumières situées aux extrémités. Le rapport le plus récent date du mercredi 21 décembre à Chebba dans le Tennessee. Le témoin anonyme a déclaré dans un rapport au MUFON : « Nous étions debout dans la rue moi, mon père et mon voisin lorsque l’objet est apparu dans le ciel. »
« Il volait assez rapidement en ligne droite et mon cousin et moi étions les seuls à l’avoir observé. » Un autre témoin affirme avoir aussi vu un triangle volant à basse altitude à Elk Grove, en Californie.

Scientific study claims: Human DNA carries a message from Extraterrestrials
According to scientists from Kazakhstan, the human DNA was encoded with an extraterrestrial signal by an advanced ancient alien civilization in the distant past.
In a study called “The “Wow! signal” of the terrestrial genetic code“, researchers Vladimir I. shCherbak and Maxim A. Makukovfrom the a Department of Mathematics, al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan and the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute, Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan respectively believe in the existence of a “Biological SETI” as they are calling it, which is a mathematical code located within the human DNA, something that cannot be explained by the process of evolution as traditional theories claim.
And all of a sudden the Ancient Astronaut theory and the idea that humans are in fact an engineered species doesn’t sound as provocative as it did in the past. Ancient Texts mention how humans were created in the image of the “Gods”, now science is a step closer to proving it.
According to writing in the Journal Icarus, the duo states: “Once fixed, the code might stay unchanged over cosmological timescales; in fact, it is the most durable construct known. Therefore it represents an exceptionally reliable storage for an intelligent signature. Once the genome is appropriately rewritten the new code with a signature will stay frozen in the cell and its progeny, which might then be delivered through space and time.” The theory presented by the two scientists suggests the human DNA is structured so precisely that it reveals an “ensemble of arithmetical and ideographical patterns of symbolic language”.
The above mentioned study has led other researchers to suggest that humans were in fact engineered or designed outside of our solar system by our creators several billion years ago, a suggestions that goes hand to hand with numerous ancient texts that speak about the creation of mankind and the creator ‘gods’.7
However, this also supports the hypothesis that life on Earth is in fact the result of interstellar life being distributed across the cosmos by asteroids and comets, which act as transporting devices which seed life onto certain planets.
shCherbak and Makukov argue that their detailed analysis of the human genome shows a previously ignored precision-type orderliness in the mapping between the DNA’s nucleotides and amino acids.
In the study, shCherbak and Makukov state that: “Simple arrangements of the code reveal an ensemble of arithmetical and ideographical patterns of symbolic language.” They say this includes the use of decimal notation, logical transformations, and the use of the abstract symbol of zero. “Accurate and systematic, these underlying patterns appear as a product of precision logic and nontrivial computing,”
Two versions of the code
In the study shCherbak and Makukov state there are versions of the code: “The nearly symmetric code version with arithmetical patterns acts as the universal standard code. With this code at hand it is intuitively easy to infer the symmetric version with its ideography. Vice versa, if the symmetric version were the universal one, it would be hardly possible to infer the nearly symmetric code with all its arithmetical patterns. Therefore, with the standard version alone it is possible to “receive” both arithmetical and ideographical components of the signal, even if the symmetric version was not found in nature. There are two possible reasons why it is actually found in euplotid ciliates: either originally when Earth was seeded there were both versions of the code with one of them remaining currently in euplotid ciliates, or originally there was only the standard version, and later casual modification in euplotid lineage coincided with the symmetric version. What concerns other known rare versions of the code, they seem neither to have profound pattern ensembles, nor to be easily inferable from the standard code. As commonly accepted, they represent later casual deviations of the standard code caused by ambiguous intermediates or codon captures (Moura et al., 2010).” (source)
What theory sounds more plausible in this case? A Religious view, suggesting that a higher entity called God Created the universe and life as we know it on Earth, or that perhaps somewhere out there, in the distant corners of the universe, intelligent beings inhabit the cosmos, these beings manipulated our DNA and created mankind, perhaps in ‘their image’ as some ancient texts suggest?
While panspermia could have occurred naturally in the universe, seeding life on planets and moons, it is plausible to think about life on Earth and how it might have bee created by far more intelligent species with the ability to ‘create life’.

Alien worlds: most stars have planets in the habitable zone
When Captain Cook sailed into Botany Bay in 1770, we did not know how many planets were in our solar system. We only knew about Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
Based on the orbits of these planets, 18th century European astronomers invented what is now called the Titius-Bode relation. It’s a simple empirical relation that describes the relative distances between the planets and the sun. It predicted the orbit of another planet beyond Saturn and another planet in the gap between Mars and Jupiter.
In 1781, William Herschel found Uranus – without relying on the Titius-Bode relation – but he found it in the orbit beyond Saturn where the Titius-Bode relation said it would be.
After this success, astronomers started looking for a planet between Mars and Jupiter in the orbit predicted by the Titus-Bode relation.
In 1801, Giuseppi Piazzi found a planet in the predicted position and called it Ceres. The Titius-Bode relation was on a roll.
But when Neptune was found in 1846 it wasn’t exactly where the Titus-Bode relation predicted it would be. And over the years so many small bodies have been found in orbits between Mars and Jupiter that Ceres was plutoed – demoted to an “asteroid”.
And so the Titus-Bode relation lost its shine. And like an old horse, it was put out to pasture. It was only taken seriously by numerologists and cranks.
The search for extrasolar planets
But then along came NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope. Over the past few years Kepler has been able to detect thousands of exoplanets and hundreds of multi-exoplanet systems.
Along with my PhD student Tim Bovaird and Master’s student Steffen Jacobsen, we reasoned that if the TB relation had been such a useful (if somewhat imperfect) guide for predicting planets in our solar system, maybe it would be useful in predicting planets in the new exoplanetary systems detected by Kepler.
We checked the hundred or so systems where Kepler had found at least a few planets and we found that the majority of these exoplanetary systems adhered to the Titus-Bode relation even somewhat better than our solar system did.
Thus, we became convinced that the horse still had some miles left in her – that the semi-taboo Titus-Bode relation could provide useful hints about the periods of as-yet-undetected planets around other stars.
Resurrection
Last year we used a generalised Titus-Bode relation to analyse 68 multi-planet systems with four or more detected exoplanets. We made predictions for the existence of more planets in these systems, based on the Titus-Bode relation.
So far, 5% of our predictions have been confirmed. This may sound like a small percentage, but given the inability of the Kepler telescope to see Earth-sized planets or smaller, a 5% detection rate is what you would expect to see if all the predictions were true.

Almost all of the exoplanets detected by Kepler are larger than Earth and very close to their host stars. This is almost certainly aselection bias.
It is very difficult for the Kepler telescope to spot planets that are far enough away from their host stars to be in the habitable zone (where the temperatures are in the range where H2O will be liquid water).
Using the Titus-Bode relation is a controversial indirect technique, but I think it’s the best one we have if we are interested in answering the question: How many planets (on average) are in the habitable zones of stars?
How many potentially habitable planets?
Our answer to this question is 2 ± 1 and was published this weekin the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. The figures (above and below) illustrate our result.

With about 300 billion stars in our galaxy, our result means there are 600 ± 300 billion planets in circumstellar habitable zones in our galaxy.
In the observable universe there are about 100 billion galaxies. Thus there are approximately 1022 stars in the observable universe and twice that many planets in circumstellar habitable zones in the universe.
That’s a lot of real estate for alien development. Not all of these habitable zone planets will be wet and rocky like the Earth, but a fair fraction (about 30%) should be. Now we need some zippy interstellar spaceships to colonise and over-populate all these worlds before the aliens do.
