British Tabloids Jump On Reports Of Shape-Shifting UFOs
British Tabloids Jump On Reports Of Shape-Shifting UFOs
Reminder: Most UFO sightings are eventually explained away as natural or man-made objects.
If some British tabloids are to be believed, UFOs have been lighting up the British skies these days, as if the night skies were an immense Christmas tree.
As reported in The Express, “thousands of people across the globe are seeing mysterious shape-shifting UFO.”
Of course, an unidentified flying object typically turns out to be something other than an ET spacecraft once we take a closer look. In this instance, on March 12, Rob Wheatman, a resident of Gloucester, captured an odd aerial phenomenon on video, as seen below.
“I saw it as a sparkling ‘star’ from the garden in Elmbridge, due south,” according to GloucesterLive. “What alerted me was an orange light that came from it and traveled at speed north east. I grabbed my video and luckily it has a 40x zoom and that’s when I got the images of the bizarre light you saw.”
While there doesn’t seem to be any outward appearance of fakery going on here, there tends to be an immediate attitude either on the part of individuals who offer alleged UFO videos or from media sources that have a tendency to stretch the idea of credulity with descriptions like “[t]his apparently intergalactic lightshow was filmed above Gloucester last night, and it’s got us, and the cameraman, baffled. What it shows is anyone’s guess...We’re pinning our money on aliens. Definitely aliens.”
Once again, let’s offer this reminder: The vast majority of UFO sightings are eventually explained as natural or man-made objects.
We consulted a photo analyst who was unimpressed with the sightings.
“In this Gloucester video, I noticed first that the object was not in focus. That’s why it looked like a diamond shape. This is a common appearance of out of focus objects with some cameras,” according to Marc D’Antonio, chief photo and video analyst for the Mutual UFO Network.
“In that video, the cameraman stated he was looking ‘due south.’ I believe that, due south at some point during the night, you will see Sirius, the brightest star in the northern sky. Because a star is ever only a point source, the slightest disturbance to the air between the camera and edge of the atmosphere in the direction being imaged will cause the image to dance around. This is called atmospheric scintillation,” D’Antonio told The Huffington Post.
In addition to his work as a video analyst, D’Antonio is CEO of FX Models, where he builds miniature versions of classified objects for his clients that include the U.S. Navy, Congress and the joint chiefs of staff. He knows a thing or two about things that are real, faked or simply misidentified.
HuffPost asked D’Antonio to look at another reported UK UFO video from January. This video begins with an object over Liverpool looking remarkably like the object in the first video above from Gloucester:
”In the second video, I noted that the object was out of focus at times. The cameraman stated that the object didn’t move, yet it absolutely did, moving over time from a position to the right and above a branch to a position just off the tip of that branch,” D’Antonio said.
“It had changed direction to reveal its nature ― it was an aircraft, landing lights on when it turned on final approach to a nearby airport. Landing lights can be seen up to 90 miles away and will persist for up to 4-5 minutes, then fade out as the aircraft makes its final turns. In my opinion, the first video showed an astronomical object ― likely Sirius ― and the second video showed a likely aircraft on landing approach.”
Incidentally, the objects in question in these two videos are quite similar to a diamond-shaped “UFO” videotaped in 2015 over another UK town, Tynemouth. In that case, it was determined that the object was, in fact, the bright star Sirius.
If you happen to spot something in the night sky that, at first, seems out-of-this-world and tempts you to consider that you’re lucky enough to witness visitors from far away, remember that you’re more than likely seeing something that is truly astronomical in nature.

Uncovered video shows 'Illuminati destroying 13,000-year-old alien satellite built to keep an eye on humankind'
Uncovered video shows 'Illuminati destroying 13,000-year-old alien satellite built to keep an eye on humankind'
The Black Knight craft is famous among alien hunters who claim it was planted by another race thousands of years ago in order to keep a watch over us
BY KEYAN MILANIAN
This is the bizarre video 'leaked' online that conspiracy theorists claim shows the destruction of an ancient alien satellite.
The Black Knight craft is famous among alien hunters who claim it was planted by another race thousands of years ago in order to keep a watch on humankind.
But a new video, shared by secureteam10 , alleges the alien technology's destruction has been caught on camera.
A clip on YouTube shows a huge fireball hurtling through space as parts of the UFO break off it.
One conspiracy theorist has claimed an 'anti-matter missile' was used to destroy it.
During the video, in a brief few seconds, another UFO appears nearby which they say was the aggressor - and a craft owned by the Illuminati.
Eventually, the fireball turns into one perfectly round flying object that the video's producers say is an alien escape pod.
However, alien hunter Tyler Glockner, who runs the popular secureteam10 channel, admits during the video that he is skeptical.
He said the bizarre profile that posted the clip does not appear to be reputable and questions the strange film angles within the clip.
The Black Knight is said to be 13,000 years old and discovered by Nikola Tesla back in 1932.
He was convinced the bizarre machinery was alien and placed in the orbit to monitor the earth.
Incredible 1989 Nashville UFO Photographs Provided by Commander Graham Bethune of the US Navy
Incredible 1989 Nashville UFO Photographs Provided by Commander Graham Bethune of the US Navy
The photographs of these UFOs were provided by Commander Graham Bethune of the US Navy. He obtained these photographs of a FS-143 saucer from a close friend who claimed to have rendezvoused with another intelligence and requests anonymity. These photographs were allegedly taken on September 27, 1989, near Nashville, Tennessee and used to build a model for theatrical events.
The photographs show strong circular columns of light shining down from the craft that suddenly stop in mid-air. Our spotlights do not function in this manner.
The Photographer’s Story
An experienced photographer was driving in a remote area near Nashville, Tennessee on the night of July 14, 1989. He saw a light behind the trees on top of a mountain several miles away at about 9:00 PM. He stopped his car, opened the trunk, picked up two cameras, a Canon AE-1 and a Canon T-90, that had previously been loaded with film. He started walking toward the bright light. The light came over the mountain several miles away and he started taking pictures with the cameras. He noticed a coronal discharge from around the perimeter of the object. It appeared to be materializing and coming into his vision. The bright light continued moving toward him. He aimed the camera at the light and started taking photos. His first photo was taken about 30 degrees above the horizon. When the object stopped he was shooting at about 50 degree up with the object still about four to six miles away. The photographer states, “I had a feeling that the craft was behind the mountain waiting for me and when it appeared it felt like I was in another world, the sounds were far, far away.” He looked at the object but could not see any definition, the light was far too bright and too far away. When he looked through the lens the craft was sharp and vivid. The craft was visible for more than five minutes, but less than ten. It seemed like forever. He changed the lens package from the T-90 to the AE-1 camera and continued shooting using all his film.
He felt he was not in control of what was happening. He remembers constantly pushing the buttons on the back of the T-90, each time he made a change it sharpened the image. The T-90 Canon with his lens package cost $3,400.00 It has four computer chips and at the time was one of the most professional cameras you could buy when purchased in 1985.” There were other witnesses, but they have been reluctant to come forward. They also were taking pictures, but the field around the craft interfered with the film as the craft moved away. They did not have high magnification lens so there was not enough definition to make the craft identifiable. The photographer has had a recent heart attack and an auto accident and does not want his name revealed.
The Canon T-9- was set upwith a spacer, two 2-2 X multipliers and 500 mm mirror lens with five filters. The lens package was 2000 mm plus. The speed of the film using the film push process is close to 3000. The camera was set up to take scenery at a distance. The computerized camera with computer chips was set to open the aperture as wide as possible. Commander Graham Bethune. was told by Bill Sherwood of Kodak that the object photographed with this package used on the camera was about five miles distant and would be 100 feet in diameter.ASA Kodak 400 or above film was used. Push processing was ordered when developing the film.
Film Analysis
Analysis of the film shows unusual colors not normally seen in any lighted object. The colors indicate a coronal discharge similar to the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights.) The photographs show a craft with approximately 32 red, white and blue perimeter lights. These lights are not used in normal aircraft configuration. At times they appear all red. At other times they are all white. Sometimes outer perimeter lights appear mixed in color indicating they may have the ability to change color.
Inside the outer perimeter lights are panels of lights. These also appear to have the ability to change color. Although they are predominantly white they are sometimes seen as partially red or black. Assuming the craft is 100 feet in diameter these outer panels take up about 40 feet or 20 feet on each side. Below the center of craft there appears to be a crystal or lights with crystal like appearance. Generally these lights appear blue. craft appears to rotate in the photos. Graham gave me his word that these were authentic photographs of an actual flying craft to the best knowledge. He has known the photographer for 24 years and the man worked for him for ten years. He has always been know to tell the truth and was of high character.
National UFO Center Note:
I have observed a UFO at close distance. The colors of the smoke probably a coronal discharge were similar to what I saw. The lights themselves have an unusual depth of color. When you look at a colored light it is normally a white light covered by a lens of red, yellow, green, blue etc. The lights on the craft appear as if the light contain the actual color. There is a vividness of color that is difficult to describe that appears to be in these photos. The fog or plasma is penetrated by the powerful lights shining downward. The lights extend down for an estimated seventy-five feet to one hundred plus feet and seem to stop abruptly. Duplication of this capability is exceptionally difficult to accomplish with any normal lights. I have never seen lights that have these properties except on a UFO, nor have I seen comparable photography. I have over 5000 hours flying time and taken thousands of photographs. I would be very interested in any similar photographs or videos of a comparable craft.
Searching for life on other planets is a complicated science. It’s not like a NASA probe is going to take a photo of another planet’s surface and see aliens walking around. We have to look for more subtle details, like the marks extraterrestrial organisms would have left behind. So what do scientists look for when they investigate other planets?
Maybe because of this bias we’re completely missing a life form right under our galactic noses that breathes hydrogen sulfide, for example — or doesn’t breathe at all. But we know what conditions have to exist on Earth for all the creatures here to survive, so we look for those things on other planets. They include oxygen for the aliens to breathe, water to sustain them and a Goldilocks-type temperature that is not too hot and not too cold.
That’s where the idea of a habitable zone comes in: It’s the area around a star where orbiting Earth-like planets are at the right distance for their surfaces to have liquid water. Any closer and the water would boil into gas; any farther and it would freeze into ice.
“Liquid water is essential to all life on Earth, and so the definition of a habitable zone is based on the hypothesis that extraterrestrial life would share this requirement,” Encyclopaedia Britannica points out.
It might not just be arrogance to assume alien life would need the same conditions to thrive as we do. Famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has explained that three of the most common elements in the universe — carbon, oxygen and hydrogen — are essential for life on Earth.
“Aliens need not look like us to resemble us in more fundamental ways,” he says. “You can bet that if life is found on another planet, it will be made of a similar mix of elements. Conversely, if life on Earth were composed primarily of, for example, molybdenum, bismuth, and plutonium, then we would have excellent reason to suspect that we were something special in the universe.”
This illustration shows the possible surface of TRAPPIST-1f, one of the newly discovered planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system. Scientists using the Spitzer Space Telescope and ground-based telescopes have discovered that there are seven Earth-size planets in the system.

Volcanoes
If a planet is not in a habitable zone, volcanoes could be crucial. Researchers from Cornell University recently suggested that volcanic eruption could warm the planet enough to support life.
Fossils
Life leaves behind evidence of its existence. In the case of tiny fossils recently discovered in Canada, they are likely what’s left of bacteria that lived in hydrothermal vents underwater in the early days of Earth, possibly more than 4 billion years ago. Some of the earliest, most primitive life on Earth may have lived in those vents, and because they share features with environmental conditions on Mars in the past, the fossil discovery may point scientists in a fruitful direction as they search for evidence of life on the Red Planet.
A message
The SETI Institute listens and looks for signals from intelligent extraterrestrial life forms. If life on other planets at a reasonable distance from Earth only consists of microorganisms, chances are they will not be sending us messages. But in case there are “technically sophisticated beings” out there, SETI is on the lookout for radio and light evidence of them.

Is Footage From The International Space Station Proof Aliens Exist?
Is Footage From The International Space Station Proof Aliens Exist?
I am fairly certain aliens exist at this point. I don't think they're little green men, or small and wrinkly like ET, or even red and angry like Martians, but I'm pretty sure they're out there. Humans can't be the only intelligent life in the universe. We're not even that intelligent; people die putting on their trousers every year. They genuinely fall over and hit their head or accidentally strangle themselves with their own jeans.
Like I said, I'm pretty sure aliens exist and they're laughing at us.
It's getting the proof that's the hard bit.
But UFO obsessives are pretty sure that they've found hard, concrete evidence.
A lot of people think that aliens have been watching the International Space Station for years. NASA doesn't think so - but is the space agency lying to us? They certainly know a lot more than they let on.
The conspiracy theorists say there are lots of unmanned flying objects around the ISS. Can you see an alien in this photo? I can see stars...
Credit: NASA
Either I need to get some specs, or there isn't anything there. Samantha Cristoforetti, an Italian European Space Agency astronaut, is just showing how to operate window shutters in a very snazzy top that I now want.
If she weren't in space, it wouldn't really be that exciting. Some aliens would make a day in space a bit more fun.
Surely if there were UFO whizzing around the space station someone would have noticed before now? And perhaps done something?
Are these a host of alien space ships or just...debris? It looks like the milkyway has dandruff to me.
Credit: NASA
Tyler Glockner is convinced. On his YouTube channel he says: "I do believe that we have some undeniable footage that will prove that there are unknown manned objects flying out there in space.
"I'm not talking about space debris or any of the usual go-to excuses used by NASA.
"I've had a tonne of people saying there is a point in this video when, moment after [Samantha] opens up this window hatch, there are multiple UFOs that can be seen speeding by."
Not too sure about that Tyler. Aliens...or bits of space rubble.
But it's not just space. Aliens have also been seen in Lancashire. Apparently it's now part of the remit of the police to check out UFO sightings! Well, as long as it's not getting cats out of trees, I guess. Checking out a potential suspect alien is a pretty fun way to spend Monday afternoon.
In a Freedom of Information request, the police were forced to admit they had to check out Lytham St Annes, near Blackpool, and Buckshaw Village, near Chorley for alien spacecrafts two years ago. That's probably the most exciting thing to happen in either of those places!
And there's more. A UFO apparently landed in Pendle Hill two years ago and even last year the Lancashire police had several occasions where they had to check for red and white UFOs.
But the police are denying that they actually think any aliens are lingering in the Lancashire area. Apparently if someone says they think they saw an alien, the police treat is as suspicious and think it could be something else.
Personally I would be more inclined to believe that the caller was high. But that's just yet another reason why I'm not in any position of authority.
What happened to man 'bundled into van after stealing proof of ALIENS from Area 51?'
What happened to man 'bundled into van after stealing proof of ALIENS from Area 51?'
A COUPLE have come forward to shockingly claim they witnessed the sinister abduction by federal agents of a man who claimed to have stolen video of real aliens from the top-secret Area 51 military base.
The report claims a man was kidnapped after getting evidence of aliens from Area 51.
The outrageous allegations were made in a report which claims the incident happened more than 20 years ago. And the couple say they have been troubled ever since over what may have happened to the "kidnap victim".
The woman has reported her claims to the US-based Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), which investigates suspected UFO and alien cases, in the hope she can discover what happened to the man who she claims first approached her at an auto garage in Casa Grande, Arizona, in around 1995.
The "missing man" claimed to have obtained video from Area 51, which proved dead aliens were stored there in the Nevada desert, according to the report.
According to conspiracy theorists the mysterious US Air Force base Area 51 is where evidence of alien visitations, including dead bodies from the alleged Roswell flying saucer crash of 1947, is hidden away.
The witness report said: "He told me that he knew it sounded far fetched but that he has been running from town to town trying to stay hidden from the government secret military.
"He said that he felt he finally had lost them and that he was there to get the vehicle tagged to fit in the state of Arizona and with his new fictitious name.
"He said he was on a mission to break out the truth to the world about UFOs, and that fact that they were real and he could prove it.
"He said that his mission was to tell as many as possible and to prove it to all he could by means of showing people the evidence he had stolen from Area 51.
"He explained that this is where the government and military try to hide the truth of aliens.
"And the fact is they are real and that he wanted me to see his evidence.
"He stated he stole at least reels of video tape feed all showing information and documentation of actual aliens."
The witness said she and her boyfriend agreed to meet this man at a motel to view the evidence.
But, when they got there, they saw something sinister.
The report added: "The man instructed me that he was at this one motel I knew of and that he was in the first room on the south end and I knew perfectly where this was.
"We pull into to motel and and the man's car was not pulled up all the way into the parking spot and a rear passenger door was still open.
"His motel room door had been kicked in and it was down.
"I could see the manager of the motel going in an opposite direction from us and he would not respond to my calling to him.
Bikers held at gunpoint when going through Area 51
He said that his mission was to tell as many as possible and to prove it to all he could by means of showing people the evidence he had stolen from Area 51.
Report to MUFON
"We were out looking around stunned at all that had taken place when we saw in the middle of the parking area sat a white new van and the doors were slamming shut and the driver was in a hurry to leave.
"Noise like kicking the panels inside the van could be heard as it kicked up rocks speeding away from us."
The couple were spooked and did not report it at the time, but were troubled by it ever since.
The report added: "This has always bothered me. What happened to him? Is anyone looking for him? Did he survive this ordeal?
"I want to tell the little tiny part of this story in effort to help solve a possible missing person situation.
"In case this man had never shown up anywhere again.
"Just maybe somebody will recognise the very general information I do know about and that it might help solve a serious event."
She said the man was around 45, tall, white, pale-skinned, with no facial hair and a receding hair line with light hair.
Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, has reviewed the claims.
He said: "This is a fascinating story straight out of the X-Files, but when you think about the details it does seem to fall apart.
"If he was running away from a secret government agency why would he tell everyone he encounters?
"Why wouldn't he go straight to the media or hide the evidence, or pass it on to someone else before he is captured?
"Why didn't the woman and her boyfriend report the man being apparently abducted in a van to the police?
"If this is not a fantasy, it is possible the man had escaped from an institution and he was recaptured by a psychiatric team rather than by Area 51 spooks.
"Also, why has it taken the person 22 years to report it?"
Lt Col Ellison Onizuka, who was killed in the 1986 Challenger space shuttle explosion, reportedly told his colleague Clark C McClelland that he'd seen footage of the dead extraterrestrials.
McClelland – a former operator if the NASA space shuttle fleet – made the stunning revelation in an article he wrote named, Alien Disclosure from an Astronaut.
The infamous Roswell occurrence refers to an incident in 1947 where ufologists claim a spaceship crashed into a field in New Mexico.
The US military has always denied the claims, saying the object was a weather balloon.
However, over the years multiple witnesses have come forward to say they saw the remains of aliens in the "spaceship" wreckage.

REVEALED: Late astronaut Lt Col Ellison Onizuka reportedly saw dead aliens
“What appeared to be some sort of medical examination room with small bodies laying on some sort of table or slab”
Clark C McClelland
McClelland claims he was surprised when his colleague asked about his opinion on the existence of aliens.
He wrote: “(Mr Onizuka) had a surprising experience along with other US Air Force (USAF) aerospace flight engineers and pilots while on military training duty at McClellan air force base, about eight or nine years prior to his astronaut training.
"He and this group were at this base for specialised training when they were directed to report to a viewing room.
"As they were seated, the room darkened and a movie began without the usual official introduction by a USAF officer.”

CLAIMS: Clark C McClelland (pictured) made the extraordinary claims in an article
Are aliens at WAR on the moon?
Lt Col Onizuka apparently told him he was shocked when the film "began to show what appeared to be some sort of medical examination room with small bodies laying on some sort of table or slab".
He added: "The small, strange looking creatures were humanoid in shape and appeared similar to those described by alleged witnesses at the well-known Roswell site in the Southwest USA in 1947.
"They all had large heads, large eyes, slight torsos, arms, and legs. They did not appear to be of earthly origin.”
McClelland said his NASA colleague then speculated that the footage was shown to them by bosses as a test to see how they would react if one of them actually saw an alien.
The two men reportedly agreed to discuss the incident later but before they could, Lt Col Onizuka died in the infamous Challenger explosion.
McClelland is known to be a dedicated believer in aliens.
He once claimed to have seen a nine-foot extraterrestrial in the bay of a space shuttle and also a flying saucer.
Rumours of dead aliens at Roswell have surfaced before.

Two large dust storms in two weeks, each spanning an area larger than the United States, have researchers pondering the atmospheric dynamics on Mars. [US-Sized Dust Storms Seen on Mars]
When we look at the night sky, we see a large glowing moon and tiny stars and planets. But if you’re sitting on one planet orbiting the nearby TRAPPIST-1 star, the six other planets in the system would appear as massive moon-sized globes. In fact, these planets are so close that some scientists think microbes could potentially hop from planet to planet and colonize the system outright.
In a recent study submitted for publication, researchers from Harvard University created a model to estimate the probability of interplanetary panspermia in the TRAPPIST-1 system. What this means is extraterrestrial life may have been seeded multiple planets over time, allowing them to inhabit each one and even evolve individually over time. In other words, if one planet on the TRAPPIST-1 system bear life, then it’s likely the other planets in the system bear life as well.
“During the transfer between one to another, microbes and living organisms survive the harsh conditions of space,” co-author Avi Loeb, an astronomer at Harvard University, tells Inverse. “They could end up landing on a new planet and seeding life there as well.”
With the recent discovery of seven Earth-like planets orbiting TRAPPIST-1, it’s easy to imagine intergalactic empires, where aliens can take vacations to neighboring planets. According to these researchers, if one of these TRAPPIST-1 planets contains life, it’s likely that others do as well.
Loeb and his colleague believe there’s a higher chance life evolved from inorganic substances in the TRAPPIST-1 system than the solar system itself. These microbes may have traveled from planet to planet by hitching a ride inside rocks. When an object collides into a planet, it sends these rocks flying into space — and possibly will wind up on another planet and seed life there.
What’s more, if life exists in the TRAPPIST-1 system, it’s probably more diverse. Compared to the solar system, more species of life likely evolved in the TRAPPIST-1 system because of interplanetary migration of life. Of course, this model depends on whether there actually is life in the system in the first place.
“In this TRAPPIST-1 system, we don’t know if there’s a cloud of asteroids that impacted those planets,” Loeb says. “More importantly, if one of these planets developed life, we don’t know that. We don’t know if planets have atmospheres at the moment…All we’re saying in this paper is that if life exists on one planet, it’s likely that it exists on another planet in the system.”
The panspermia theory applies to Earth as well — perhaps compounds from comets seeded the planet with the building blocks for life. Researchers actually found that panspermia is more likely to occur in the TRAPPIST-1 planets than between Earth and Mars, especially since the TRAPPIST-1 planets are so close.
In fact, travel time between TRAPPIST-1 planets is 100 times less than the planets in our solar system. The chances of a rock with life from one TRAPPIST-1 planet hitting another is 20 times greater than the chances in our solar system. Altogether, the chance of delivery and survival of life on a rock is 2,000 times higher in TRAPPIST-1.
Panspermia for the TRAPPIST-1 planets would essentially appear like an astronomical version of island-hopping. The researchers created models based on the way species on Earth migrated between islands. This concept works better if the planets have robust atmospheres which could allow for liquid surface water.
“What we did in the paper is make the analogy with islands,” Loeb says. “People have studied over the years immigration of species between islands. For example, Galapagos. There were models developed for the transfer of life from one to another.”
Discovering whether these planets — especially the three habitable ones — have atmospheres would be the next step. The James Webb Space Telescope will be looking for atmospheres in the TRAPPIST-1 planets, which will help scientists analyze potential biosignatures and narrow down on other possible signs of life in the system.
“We have three planets in the habitable zone, and that gives us three times of rolling the dice,” Loeb says. “In the solar system, we just have Earth, but there we have three rollings of the dice, and what our paper says is the success of one could affect the others.”

The Phoenix Lights: Twenty Years Later
The Phoenix Lights: Twenty Years Later
JP Robinson
For more information on mass UFO sightings like the article below, read TheAlien Enigmaby JP Robinson.
Twenty years ago this month (March 2017) one of the largest and spectacular mass UFO sightings in modern UFO history took place. Many have debunked the incident claiming that the lights seen in the sky by so many locals back in 1997, were simply flares sent out by the National Guard, but closer investigation would suggest that what occurred that night could be much more bizarre.
As people stood outside their homes in Phoenix, Arizona and looked skywards towards the Hale-Bopp comet which was passing by, many local residents witnessed a sky borne anomalous object which would later be referred to as ‘the Phoenix Lights’.
This particular mass UFO sighting was seen by thousands of local residents on March 13, 1997 as it moved slowly and silently across the Phoenix skyline. Described as a vast, gun-metal black triangle with huge round lights, the object which was first spotted at 8:15 p.m. continued to travel through the night sky for 106 minutes in total before finally disappearing from view.
One eyewitness Sue Watson said, “It had five big lights in front and it was the shape of a boomerang.” Mike Watson, another local who watched the lights in triangle formation heading straight towards him insisted that, “it was a solid craft, silent, very low to the ground.” Continuing, he added, “And the thing that took me was the size. Profoundly enormous, profoundly massive, we don’t even have a shopping centre this big.”
Seen from different vantage points across the city, the sighting caught many people’s attention and public interest in the unknown craft was bordering on hysteria over the days and weeks that followed. Excessive media coverage only served to fuel the fire, as residents were beginning to demand answers which would sufficiently explain what the mysterious lights could have been.
The previous evening, retired Lieutenant and Navajo Ranger John Dover watched the mysterious and silent lights flying over a Navajo reservation in Leupp, Northern Arizona. Dover, who paid regular visits to the Indian reservations during his time as a ranger, claimed that seeing UFOs was a regular occurrence for the residents there.
As part of an agency called the Navajo Nation Rangers, Dover had the freedom to investigate paranormal cases which were constantly being reported to the Police. Policing the Navajo reservations with his partner, Stan Milford, Dover took paranormal reports from the Navajo very seriously and together they investigated some very interesting cases and even found physical evidence in some cases which helped reinforce witness testimonies. “We finally started doing UFO cases; we had some major cases where landings and occupants were seen. Very unusual cases, very large craft”, Dover stated.
Dr. Lynne Kitei has written books and made a documentary about the lights, which she also saw that night in Arizona. “Most things can be explained, only a small percentage cannot and just because we don't have the technology to definitively define what these things are doesn't mean they aren't real”, she explained. According to Dr. Kitei, “The ‘Phoenix Lights’ is being considered around the world as the most important and most documented mass sighting in modern history.”
Over the weeks that followed, more than 700 witnesses called in reports to local officials and the National UFO Reporting Center, a private organisation based in Seattle. Governor of Arizona, Fyfe Symington III was coming under increasing pressure to supply some answers to the public regarding the lights. Shortly after, he gave a press conference in which he openly denied any knowledge of the incident and even mocked those residents claiming they saw something by dressing up a colleague in an alien costume and declaring that they had caught the culprit. It wasn’t until fifteen years after the sighting that Symington admitted, “I knew more about the lights over Phoenix than I let on.”
The evening of March 13, the Governor was eating his evening meal at home with his family when he saw the reports on the news. Deciding to personally investigate the matter further, Symington drove out to Sumida Park to see for himself what all the fuss was about. Within a few minutes of his arrival in the park, he looked up and saw what so many others had been describing; “This great big massive craft, probably 3 or 4,000 feet, took out a whole chunk of the sky,” he said. Adding, “And you could see other aircraft in the distance but the airplanes looked like little toothpicks compared to the size of this craft”.
The official explanation given at the time was that the Arizona National Guard had sent out flying A-10s to drop high-intensity magnesium flares between 9:30 and 10 p.m.
Although it is accepted that the flares were actually launched that night, the video footage, photographic evidence and multiple sightings across a wide expanse of the city confirmed that the lights from the flares were a completely separate event and were not the cause of all the reports.
When the Air Force was questioned over the appearance of the lights they avidly denied reports suggesting that they had sent out fighter planes to investigate the phenomenon. However, an anonymous phone call from an airman at Luke Air Force Base to the National UFO Reporting Center was recorded on the morning of March 14, in which he claimed that shortly after 8:30 p.m., Luke AFB did indeed send up two F-15 fighter jets.
“Apparently, we got a call from Prescott Valley Airport, a small airport north of us, reporting an object that had a near miss with a small Cessna” said the airman. “The call came approximately 8:32, that they encountered something over Phoenix, Arizona, over the area of 7th Avenue and Indian School Road. They don’t know what it was.”
One of the F-15 pilots wrote a statement which stated that they had followed the aircraft as it travelled on a straight-line course heading towards Sky Harbor Airport, at around 18,000 ft. before descending to 10,500 ft. He also described seeing five distinct lights in a triangular pattern and when he landed back at the base, the facility was immediately closed – a total lockdown, as “all hell broke loose”, according to the insider. Whilst reporting the incident the airman declared, “The command pilot of this particular flight...I’ve never seen this man scared, and he was scared to death. He’s not sure what it was.”
The debate over the origins of the Phoenix lights continues to this day, even as the event occurred twenty years ago this year, but the memory of that colossal UFO remains firmly etched in the minds of all those who were looking on in awe.

Hovering metallic object was size of large exercise ball
Hovering metallic object was size of large exercise ball
A Michigan witness at Grant recalled events from 2016 when a “bright, shiny, silver, metallic, spherical object – perfectly round in shape” – appeared low over a farm house, according to testimony in Case 82008 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was outside at 5:42 p.m. on July 8, 2016, when the incident occurred.
“Hovering above power lines and excavating pits out back,” the witness stated,“between the pond and farm house. The object stayed stationary for several seconds.”
The witness attempted to move toward the object.
“I took several steps forward to finish stepping out from under cover of the large oak tree by pump, west side of pond. As I did this, it shot off at an extremely high rate of speed to the point it was too difficult to see the object’s trail that you would normally see, like say a jet flying by super-fast.”
The witness noticed the object hovering over power lines. Pictured: Grant, MI.

The witness described the object.
“The object resembled an exercise ball in size – the ones you see at the gym or at physical therapy centers. They are roughly four to give times the size of a basketball. The sphere was shinny as well. It looked as if you had taken a exercise ball and wrapped it with aluminum foil, completely seamless with no ridges or lines. The sphere hovered several feet above power lines for approximately 10 seconds.”
The object was the size of a large exercise ball. Pictured: Grant, MI.

The witness tried to take a photo.
“As I reached for my iPhone to attempt to take a photo, it took off so fast, I couldn’t even tell which direction it went. I had gotten a strange, one with the world, feeling several seconds before the sighting. The feeling was as if a thought was given to me, or an idea at least; ‘to look up.’ The last time I’d gotten a feeling anything close to that was when I drowned for five minutesand then given CPR and revived. There is much, much more to life than meets the eye.”
Grant is a city in Newaygo County, MI, population 894. Michigan MUFON Chief Investigator Danial Snow is investigating. Please remember that most UFO sightings can be explained as something natural or man-made. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
Stephen Hawking, the world’s most renowned physicist and cosmologist, stated today that he is, in fact, heading to space—and it’s happening all thanks to the Virgin group (and a bit of modern technology).
In a statement back in 2015, Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin group, said that, one day, he hoped to be able to carry Hawking to the stars. In the statement, Branson noted that this offer came as a result of the great respect and admiration that he has for Hawking:
Professor Stephen Hawking is one of the people I admire most in the world, an undisputed genius who has opened our eyes to the wonders of the universe, while also happening to be a kind and delightful man. He is the only person I have given a free ticket with Virgin Galactic, and he is signed up to fly as a Future Astronaut with us if his health permits it.
At 75 years of age, Hawking won’t be the oldest astronaut ever (that designation belongs to John Glenn, who went to space at the age of 77), but he will be the first person to go to space with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)—also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a motor-neuron disease that generally leads to death within five years of the initial diagnosis. Hawking’s condition was first diagnosed when he was 21, and he was not expected to see his 25th birthday.
Fast-forward 50 years, and here we are.
Traveling to space, of course, is risky business, even more so when health concerns come into play. Now, it seems that Hawking is set to go. Hawking’s voyage to space will also give scientists an opportunity to study the effects of ALS in new ways, such as how it operates in zero-gravity.
When discussing the anticipated event, Hawking told Good Morning Britain that he never dreamed he’d have such an opportunity, and that he “said yes immediately.” Hawking continued by noting that he looks forward to the voyage with great anticipation, comparing flying into space to the same joy that his three children have brought him. During the discussion, he stated, “my three children have brought me great joy – and I can tell you what will make me happy, to travel in space.”
Of course, space is one thing, but this isn’t the first time Hawking experienced Zero-G…
A New Age in Flight
Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo is a reusable, winged spacecraft designed to carry up to eight people (including two pilots) into space, and the link between Hawking and Virgin Galactic isn’t exactly new. Just last year, Hawking unveiled the name of the SpaceShipTwo craft, the VSS Unity. During a four-minute recorded video, Hawking explained that the Unity: “will help bring new meaning to our place on Earth and to our responsibilities as its stewards, and it will help us to recognize our place and our future in the cosmos — which is where I believe our ultimate destiny lies.”
Ultimately, Hawking has long been an advocate of commercial spaceflight, and to this end, he notes that he greatly admires Virgin Galactic’s role in democratizing space, specifically, he clarified his “respect for enabling more of humanity to experience the true wonder of space.”
I have said in the past ‘Look up at the stars and not down at your feet’, but I believe that ‘looking up’ will no longer be a requirement to see the universe in all its glory.
In Hawking’s interview with Good Morning Britain, he focused on the importance of the unifying power of space exploration, especially in terms of bringing together governments from across the globe and inspiring future generations.
As Alan Stern, head of the New Horizons mission to Pluto, famously stated, enterprises like this are worthy for a number of reasons, but that, for him, two stick out in particular: “Beyond the obvious—that we’re creating new knowledge—we create a greater society. We do something which is, in the case of great exploration, historic. It’s something people read about, not just days and weeks later, but decades and centuries later. It makes a mark for our time of what we aspire to be, which is a greater society.”
In short, the things that we invest in (whether that is sports, or war, or science) are a direct reflection of both the values that we hold and the society that we are currently building. And as is clear from this revelation, Hawking truly believes in going where no one’s gone before—or at least, only a very few people.
Humanity’s first spacewalk seems even crazier 52 years later.
March 18, 1965 was an ordinary Thursday for the majority of people located on planet Earth. But for 30-year-old cosmonaut Alexey Leonov, one of two people who happened to be off-world at the time, it was all about making history and cheating death.
Exactly 52 years ago this Saturday, Leonov and mission commander Pavel Belyayev blasted into space aboard the Soviet spacecraft Voskhod ("Sunrise") 2. Several crews, both Russian and American, had already orbited Earth, so Voskhod 2 had been tasked with pushing the boundaries of human spaceflight to the next level—a spacewalk, or EVA (extravehicular activity). His audacious mission has since been commemorated with books, stamps, pop culture homages, and an upcoming feature-length film.

About ninety minutes after lift-off, Leonov made his way into the ship's Volga inflatable airlock, secured a 5.35-meter (17.6 foot) tether around his torso, opened the hatch, and ventured out into the unknown with only a spacesuit to protect him. It was the first time any human had left the safety of a spacecraft and free-floated in orbit. A Volga-mounted camera that Leonov had set up on his way out captured the extraordinary moment.
A second camera attached to Leonov's chest did not fare so well, because Leonov's spacesuit unexpectedly puffed up in response to the atmospheric pressure shift. As a result, he was unable to reach the shutter switch on his thigh (though this didn't prevent later artistic renditions of the event from depicting him in an idealized cameraman pose).

Leonov apparently didn't worry much about his inflating spacesuit, becoming enraptured instead with his unobstructed view of Earth. He described the feeling as "like a seagull with its wings outstretched, soaring high above the Earth," in the book Two Sides of the Moon, co-written with American astronaut David Scott, the seventh man to walk on the lunar surface.
"I heard Pasha talking to me: 'It's time to come back in,'" Leonov recalled. "I realized I had been floating free in space for over ten minutes. In that moment my mind flickered back for a second to my childhood, to my mother opening the window at home and calling to me as I played outside with my friends, 'Lyosha, it's time to come inside now.' With some reluctance I acknowledged that it was time to re-enter the spacecraft."
But returning to Voskhod 2 would not be so easy. Leonov's inflated suit had become stiff over the 12-minute space walk, and it was too large and rigid to fit back in the airlock.
Realizing their star cosmonaut was stuck in space, Soviet mission control cut the live-feed, and ominously replaced it with a rendition of Mozart's Requiem. Meanwhile, Leonov decided to deflate the suit by releasing the oxygen valve. Fortunately, he was able to squeeze back into the Volga module before his breathable air ran out, and before heatstroke and decompression sickness overtook him.
That's when things got really interesting for the crew of Voskhod 2.
After jettisoning the Volga airlock and preparing for reentry, Leonov noticed that the automatic guidance system was malfunctioning. With mere minutes to go until they hit the atmosphere, Leonov and Belyayev had to scramble to manually orient themselves and calculate a retrorocket firing sequence that would land them safely within Soviet borders.
It worked...kind of. After an extremely rough descent at high pressures of 10 gs, Voskhod 2 touched down in the Soviet Union. But they ended up way off course in a remote wolf-infested Siberian forest near the town of Solikamsk, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) from the planned landing site.
Leonov recalls Belyayev asking how soon he thought rescuers would come for them. "In three months, maybe, they'll find us with dog sleighs," Leonov joked (one of many instances of astronaut/cosmonaut gallows humor).
But as luck would have it, the pair did not have to brave the freezing temperatures for long. Though they spent one perilous night without heat hiding in the capsule, they were found by a well-stocked rescue team the following day. The crew spent a second night in a fire-warmed makeshift shelter before finally skiing to safety, and from there, world renown. Sadly, Belyayev only got to enjoy his fame for five years; he passed away in January 1970, from peritonitis.
Leonov, at 82, is still an active spaceflight advocate and science fiction artist. He was initially celebrated for securing an important spaceflight milestone, but once the full story was declassified and he could share his experiences, his narrow survival added a new layer of interest in the event.
As Leonov put in 2015: "I keep going over the mission and I keep finding mistakes that could have been avoided. They could have led to tragedy. Everything was on the edge."
If all this action has you itching for a movie about this roller-coaster of a mission, you might want to check out the newest trailer for Время первых (First Time). It's a feature film, directed by Yuri Bykov, about Voskhod 2 set to premiere in Russia in April 2017.
Of course, if you'd prefer a dumbed-down, inebriated version of the story, there's always this Drunk History segment on the mission narrated by Kyle Kinane.
Either way, it's worth remembering and celebrating the quick wits and badassery of Leonov and Belyayev on the 52nd anniversary of their historic achievement. Today, over 200 spacewalkers have followed Leonov's lead into outer space by performing their own EVAs. But as per Bykov's film title, only one can be first.
ASTRONOMERS FIND HUNDREDS OF POTENTIALLY ALIEN SIGNALS
ASTRONOMERS FIND HUNDREDS OF POTENTIALLY ALIEN SIGNALS
Astronomy researchers at Laval University studied signals from 2.5 million stars to look for periodic patterns, or what might look like regular pulsing signals.
They found 234 of them, and they have no clear explanation of what they are. One of the possible theories they mention in their published paper is extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI).
They think the pulses look like a signal an intelligent alien might choose to send if they were trying to make contact. Of course, the researchers aren't concluding that this is what it is. They also looked for alternative explanations like naturally occurring spectral lines or rotating molecules, but none of these are good enough to say for sure that it isn't aliens, either.
Interestingly, these signals tended to come from stars of similar size and characteristics as our own sun. We already know that a star like this can support intelligent life around it, as evidenced by us being here ourselves, so for the believers in the extraterrestrial life theory, this is good news. Humans have sent and are still sending many different signals to try to contact whatever other life might exist, so it makes sense that we should also listen in case someone is trying to reach us.
The researchers themselves are cautious and call for additional independent studies to confirm their findings. The Breakthrough Listen Initiative, which works on listening for potential messages from extraterrestrial intelligence, agrees. They're quoted by Tech Insider saying "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence", an attitude that speaks well of their commitment to using reliable scientific methods and avoiding unfounded conspiracies.
They are however making plans to study some of these 234 stars further, to see if they can replicate the findings from the original study. It is still possible that this could be the signal that confirms someone is out there, trying to let us know they're there.
A few days following the first reports, the lights were spotted again at various locations around Washtenaw County, with one deputy reporting something floating in the sky - described as looking like a "child's top."
March 20, 1966
On Sunday, March 20, 1966, the sheriff's office received reports of a UFO landing in a wooded, swamp area of Dexter Township. Police spoke to Frank Mannor, a truck driver who had gone into the swamp with his son. Here's what Mannor told police:
"We got to about 500 yards of the thing,” Mannor told interviewers. “It was sort of shaped like a pyramid, with a blue-green light on the right-hand side and on the left, a white light. I didn’t see no antenna or porthole. The body was like a yellowish coral rock and looked like it had holes in it—sort of like if you took a piece of cardboard box and split it open. You couldn’t see it too good because it was surrounded with heat waves, like you see on the desert. The white light turned to a blood red as we got close to it and Ron said, ‘Look at that horrible thing.’”
Here's the report from the NICAP:Frank Mannor and his son, Ronald [plus 40-60 others including 12 policemen ?] saw hovering over a swamp about 1,500 ft away a brown luminous car sized object, with a "scaly" or "waffled" surface, cone-shaped on top, flat on bottom, or football shaped, and 2 bluish-green lights on right and left edges that turned bright red and helped illuminate object in between. Lights blinked out and object reappeared instantly across the swamp 1,500 ft away. The whole object lit up with a yellowish glow at one point and also rose up 500 ft then descended again. After 2-3 minutes of viewing, when 2 flashlights appeared in the distance the object seemed to respond by flying away at high speed directly over the witnesses with a whistling sound like a rifle bullet ricocheting. Object remained in the swamp area for 1/2 hr.
The report gained national attention. More than 40 officers joined a search of the swamp. Odd sightings continued, with officers spotting red and white lights in the sky, flying back and forth and then disappearing.
The next night, more than 80 students at Hillsdale College reported seeing lights in a nearby swamp.
The UFO craze took over, and reports from all around the Ann Arbor area, as well as surrounding areas in Michigan, started pouring in.
Here come the investigators
Michigan congressman Weston Vivian requested that the U.S. Air Force send an investigator from Project Blue Book, the agency that studied UFOs.
Dr. J. Allen Hynek, an astronomer from Northwestern, was tasked with the investigation.
Hynek arrived on March 23, touring the areas of sightings himself. What he found was something he called "near hysteria."
“It’s like reports from people who witness a fire,” Hynek told the press at the time. “You get as many different facts as you get people who saw the fire. So far, all I’ve been able to come up with is reports of a variety of lights.”
Under pressure for an explanation, Hynek told reporters during a press conference on March 25 that the sightings were simply mistaken observations of the moon and stars, and the Dexter UFO was just swamp gas.
Wait, swamp gas?
The swamp gas theory didn't go over so well. Many thought it was a huge cover-up. Several publications accused the government of hiding evidence.
A swamp Is a place of rotting vegetation and decomposition. Swamps are not a province of astronomers. Yet,the famous Dutch astronomer, Ninnaert, in his book, Light and Colour in the Open Air, describes lights that have been seen In swamps by the astronomer Bessel and other excellent observers. The lights resemble tiny flames some times seen right on the ground and sometimes rising and floating above it. The flames go out in one place and suddenly appear in another, giving the Illusion of motion. The colors are sometimes yellow, some times red, and sometimes blue-green. No heat is felt, and the lights do not burn or char the ground. They can appear for hours at a stretch and sometimes for a whole night. Generally, there Is no smell and no sound except for the popping sound of little explosions such as when a gas burner ignites.
Congressman (and future President) Gerald Ford called for a congressional investigation.
During all of this, UFO sightings continued pouring in from all over Michigan, and around the country.
UFO frenzy dies down, but mystery remains
By April 1966, the UFO frenzy had died down in Michigan, but the swamp gas explanation is still talked about to this day.
Thirty years later, Douglas Harvey, Washtenaw County sheriff at the time of the original sightings told The Ann Arbor News he and Dr. Hynek were talking in the sheriff’s office and the scientist admitted he didn’t know what the witnesses had seen, but felt it was worthy of further investigation.
"He was on the phone for quite a while, which I found very enlightening,'' Harvey said. "He came out and I said, 'Well, Dr. Hynek. What do you think?' He said, 'It's swamp gas.' He tells me one minute he has no idea what it is. And then he makes one phone call to Washington and comes out and gives a statement that it's swamp gas. Very strange.''
"They did see something,'' he said. "I'll believe this to the day I die. Somebody has kept something quiet, and nothing more ever materialized. So we don't know if it was the government experimenting, or was it really a UFO. I don't know.''

Construction is scheduled to begin by April 1 on a million-dollar discount center on the south side of Tenth Avenue South east of Forty-Seventh Street. The Great Falls Valu-Mart Department store will be the 18th built by Weisfield’s Inc of Seattle. With 100,000 square feet of floor space, the center will handle groceries, jewelry, drugs, hardware, ladies’ apparel, men’s clothing, shoes, appliances, toys, linens, records and cameras. The center will have parking for 1,000 cars.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A federal court on Wednesday ordered the desegregation of all Alabama schools not already under court order and, in an unprecedented move, laid the burden of enforcement on the state itself. The three-judge court in its unanimous ruling ordered the state to require affected school systems to submit desegregation plans for the 1967-68 school term. Gov. Lurleen Wallace declined comment pending official notification of the ruling. Her husband, George C. Wallace, whom she succeeded, has long fought against integration.
A new unidentified flying object sighting was made by three sheriff’s deputies and several others Thursday night, according to a report filed Friday. Undersheriff Frank Takala said the object hovered north and west of Gore Hill. The report said the UFO was yellow in color and seemed to emit a red glow from top and bottom. After remaining motionless in an overcast and starless night, it traveled west and disappeared. The undersheriff said it appeared to be about six times as large as the largest star that can be seen on a clear night. UFOs were also reported near Vaughn, Fort Benton and Choteau on Tuesday night.
VAIL, Colo. – French skier Jean-Claude Killy made it four in a row Sunday as he sped through a blinding snowstorm to win the men’s giant slalom at the Vail Trophy race. Killy made the mile-long, 47-gate course in 1:42.83, seemingly unbothered by the poor visibility and rutted, icy trace. “Other people have five senses, but Killy has six,” French coach Honore Bonnet explained.
Firemen had to watch their equipment with one eye and the work at hand with the other Friday afternoon while fighting a fire at the resident of Joe Slemberger, 3209 6th Ave. S. Children in the area made off with a hydrant wrench while firemen were busy and almost got a hand radio valued at about $500 before a fireman saw a child running across a lawn with it. A fire official had left it near the home before going into the smoky basement to inspect damage.
From the Tribune week of March 19, 1917
That interest in naval and military matters are not confined to the males was evidenced a day or two ago when a young woman appeared at the navy recruiting office in the Simpson building and inquired as to the possibilities of her admission to the service. She said she had been told that the Navy Department was taking on women as stenographers and other work. Chief Petty Officer A. Foltz, who is in charge of the station, was compelled to decline to accept the proffered enlistment. So far during the present month five enlisted men only have been sent out from this station.
NEW YORK – James W. Gerard, former American ambassador to Germany, in an address before the New York chamber of commerce today, urged his hearers to go forth as missionaries of preparedness. Mr. Gerard predicted that if war should come, the U.S. would be faced with a great problem in dealing with “our alien enemy population.” “The question is,” he said, “’Shall we intern them as was done in Germany, or shall we allow them to roam at large, destroying bridges or anything else they can?’”
CHINOOK W.M. – Wooldridge came up from his ranch at Hinsdale yesterday for a brief stay. Mr. Wooldridge says the feed situation is very alarming all over northern Montana. Not since the country was first settled has there been such a long and hard winter for cattlemen and sheep men. Until this winter, Mr. Wooldridge has never been able to make a price for hay that could compete with prices in Lewistown and Butte, but now the dealers will pay almost any old price that is asked.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Military training for professional baseball players has proved that it possesses a triple value at least. It varies the monotony of spring training; it improves the morale of a team; and it is a start toward providing Uncle Sam with a considerable number of good soldiers if he needs them. The results of the innovation, as far as the White Sox are concerned, has been very surprising. The players, almost without exception, took hold with determination and seriousness.
WASHINGTON – The principal American copper producers have agreed to furnish the government the copper needed for the army and navy during the coming year at 16 and a fraction cents a pound, about one-half of the current market price. Forty-five million pounds is the amount to be delivered. It is the first big concession in response to the appeals to the patriotism of the country’s industries since the Navy’s agreements with the shipbuilders and steel makers for profit cutting.
Alles verzengend in helse temperaturen.
