Ex NASA Advisory Council member Brian Wilcox has made a revelation that is horrifying during the discussion of a space agency report. He said that if the risky proposals of NASA go ahead, to prevent an eruption, they might go wrong and it could lead to consequences that are disastrous and could see the Yellowstone volcano erupting.
NASA ATTEMPT MIGHT END IN DISASTER
One of the ways that NASA plans is to drill into the bottom of the volcano and by way of a spurt of water that is pressurized, release heat out of the magma chamber. However, Wilcox has said that there is a good chance that the attempt would not be successful and it could end in disaster.
NASA plans to save people from what has been termed a super volcano eruption like from the ones shown of some of the most astonishing eruptions of volcanoes. Photographs have been captured of lava floating down Kilauea with ash spitting out of the craters, sending plumes of smoke that rise many thousands of feet into the air. One of the most violent of eruptions was that of Mount Sakurajima.
It was said that Yellowstone explodes around every 600,000 years and the last time that it exploded was 600,000 years ago, so the volcano is about due to explode again. Wilcox said that if NASA does go ahead and drills into the magma chambers top to try to cool it down from there, it would be a very risky procedure. He went onto say that it might make the magma chambers cap even more brittle and this would mean it would be prone to fracturing. Wilcox went on to say that the release of harmful gases might be triggered in the top of the chamber, which would otherwise not have been released. While Wilcox knows that something must be done, he does not believe that NASA has the right answer.
There have been many disasters in the world throughout the centuries and many have been man-made thanks to terrorism and wars. However, Mother Nature does play a part in them too and can do a lot of damage.
VOLCANO ERUPTIONS BIGGER THREAT THAN ASTEROID OR COMET COLLISION
Wilcox said that he had been a member of the NASA Advisory Council on Planetary Defence and this studied various ways in which NASA might be able to defend Earth from comets and asteroids. He said that he had reached the conclusion during a study that a super volcano threat is bigger that one from a comet or an asteroid. There are 20 super volcanoes on Earth and if they were to erupt they would trigger off effects that could change the planet.
When the Iceland Eyjafjallajokul volcano erupted in 2010 air travel around Europe almost came to a halt. This has been the biggest disruption to air travel since World War II. The smoke pillar that came from the eruption reached a height of 11km and as far as Russia. Now there are fears that the same super eruption might happen again this year.
HUGE VOLCANIC ERUPTION COULD END HUMAN RACE DUE TO STARVATION
The last major eruption to occur was around 26,500 years ago in New Zealand and they are very rare. However, if a similar event were to occur today it could bring about a nuclear winter and it may mean that human beings are wiped from the Earth in a matter of months, due to starvation.
Wilcox said that an eruption of Yellowstone is imminent and so it is urgent that something is done. He went on to say that it is about due to explode and when and if it does people would be forced to sit up and take notice.

This is such vital research when we stop to think about how important the human organs are to each of us. There has now been advancements made in actually growing human tissue and organs within a lab. Such research and advancements could one day repair nerve damage, damage tissue, and also help a person in need of a organ transplant.
2. DISCOVERY OF A PLANET THAT COULD SUSTAIN LIFE
We have often wondered if there was life on other planets. Although it was determined that odds are most of the planets in our solar system don't have alien life forms, now that we are venturing beyond our solar system we may have actually discovered a planet where other life forms can be found. On a planet labelled as LHS 1140b, and appears as if it has an atmosphere that is habitable to life.
No, this has nothing to do with changing the gender of a child while in the womb but actually doing away with diseases such as heart disease. It would seem such a procedure has now been done successfully remove the gene that has been linked to heart disease. This is truly a great breakthrough since it would seem many types of debilitating and even deadly diseases can be linked to our genetics.
4. A REUSABLE ROCKET
Yes, in the past rockets were considered one way trips. These weren't reusable, that is until now. It would seem that SpaceX has relaunched the Falcon 9 which was made with the recycled parts from other rockets. This is an advancement which could save millions of dollars in money when it come to space program.
5. CREATING LIFE OUTSIDE THE WOMB
This is a fantastic development for women who are able to create the egg needed but unable to actually carry their child to term. It would seem a group of scientist have successfully experimented using a lamb embryo to prove the a fetus could grow and mature within a sort of incubator like bag. The next step is to use this advancement on a human embryo. As things stand the same process has been successful in saving the lives of children born far to prematurely to have survived prior to such an advancement in fetal research.
These are just five of the scientific advancements that occurred during the first half of 2017. There were several others as well. So, as things stand the future of science and technology does hold much, and we will no doubt benefit from all these great discoveries.

A webcam in Alaska recorded lights which seem to belong to a large complex flying craft over a volcano in Alaska on August 19, 2017. The volcano is located in the Aleutian Islands Archipelago directly over Akutan. The craft was photographed at 07:19 on 08/19/2017.
Strange footage emerged online of a object appearing in the sky over Jinshitan beach in the city.
The video shows the object floating among the clouds before disappearing.
Swimmers and beachgoers can be seen observing the ring as it flies above them.

In the video, onlooker Jing Qi said: "There is an unidentified flying object appearing in the sky. Its oval shape is expanding and it's coming towards us closer and closer."
Before disappearing, the UFO-like ring changed its shape into a parallelogram.
Following the publication of the video, social media users began to speculate on the possible origin of the object on China's version of Twitter, Weibo.
According to ET Today, some eyewitnesses suggested the ring could have been formed by a group of insects moving together.

This weekend, however, the sun is welcoming the eclipse with a burst of renewed activity as a remarkably-long sunspot group AR2671 is sprawling across the solar disk, stretches 140,000 miles from end to end, almost twice as wide as the planet Jupiter.

We were told to "Watch the Skies," and that, "We are Not alone." It sounded like a warning.

Close Encounters became a huge financial success, a beloved classic of cinema and a touchstone for the UFO topic. However on it's original release, the reviews were mixed. Let's take a look back at what critics were saying about it at the time. In Variety, A.D. Murphy said:
“Close Encounters of the Third Kind” is a daring film concept which in its special and technical effects has been superbly realized. Steven Spielberg’s film climaxes in final 35 minutes with an almost ethereal confrontation with life forms from another world; the first 100 minutes, however, are somewhat redundant in exposition and irritating in tone.
Ufologist Dr. J. Allen Hynek was a consultant on the film, and deeply involved in the project, and a big supporter. He participated in its promotion, had a cameo in it, published a non-fiction book The Hynek UFO Report released in connection with the film, wrote the epilogue to the CE3K novelization, and received funding and publicity for CUFOs, the Center for UFO Studies.

Ufologist, Stanton T. Friedman, "the flying saucer scientist" was less enthusiastic about the film. Prior to resurrecting the Roswell case, Friedman was a flying saucer lecturer who chiefly promoted the Betty and Barney Hill abduction story. He'd consulted on the 1975 TV movie based on the Hill case, The UFO Incident, but he gave low marks to Spielberg's film. Close Encounters of the Third Kind was criticized by Stanton Friedman as "inaccurate." He said that, " 'Close Encounters' is visually spectacular- a feast for the eyes- but UFOlogically a disaster," and in his opinion, "about 20 percent legitimate and 80 percent overdone."

It's not known if Friedman's disapproval prompted Spielberg to tamper with the film, but CE3K has been re-edited several times over the decades, with footage added and cut. With the new re-release, Spielberg has one last chance to fix his mistakes, and just maybe, to finally win the praise of the flying saucer scientist.

A Fast UFO Flying was Filmed by a US Air Force Veteran, He Sent the Footage to MUFON for Investigation
The UFO wasfilmed with a DJI Phantom 3 Professional 4K aerial camera mounted on a drone above Ayden District Park travelling too fast to be spotted with a naked eye. The 59- year-old veteran was astonished after reviewing the recorded footage that showed a UFO flying in a blur under the drone.
The retired USAF veteran has told MUFON that he had never previously experienced anything similar in his 20 year military career and that this footage took him back.
The object travelled around 1.2 miles just in one-third of a second, meaning, it travelled at around 13,000 mph per hour or 17 times the speed of sound an altitude of just 50 feet.
The object on the footage can be seen clearly only when slowed down. It is when it stays on the screen long enough to be seen. The description on YouTube video says that it traveled 6200 feet (about 1.2 miles) in 1/3rd of a second.
The UFO was reported with MUFON and then a copy of the video was sent to NASA. Both agencies are investigating and anysing it.
The object looked like a solid metallic object which reflected or emitted its own light.It appears like a blur and it covers a distance during one-third of a second without making a sound.
MUFON’s North Carolina investigator Sanford Davis wrote in the official report that the object was not observed nor seen personally. It was spotted after reviewing drone footage and the whole sighting occured within a third of a second – a stroke arising in the background, streaking across the screen before disappearing in the foreground.
It appears as a white dot, turning into a ‘light disk’ right before it disappears off screen.”
Some users on YouTube commented that it has prosaic origins while the others see it as valid proof of UFO’s existence .
Without any doubts, the results of the NASA analysis will share the former’s opinion.
World-renowned expert and author Philip Mantle, of Pontefract, Yorks., has probed hundreds of close encounters over the years but says these previously unreleased cases are the ones that made him believe extraterrestrial life is real.
They include a mum and six children who saw three aliens in Yorkshire, and an RAF officer who encountered mysterious objects on his radar system.
The former director of investigations of the British UFO Research Association and UK representative of MUFON – the world's biggest UFO organisation – has chosen his top five, cases which have convinced him the truth really is out there.

1. Mysterious high-speed objects spotted on three different RAF radar
His first unexplained case involved Wing Commander Alan Turner OBE, who was duty military supervisor at RAF Sopley in 1971.
Mr Turner described seeing objects on radar climbing at supersonic speeds from 3,000ft to 60,000ft, way beyond the capabilities of any aircraft at the time.
The objects appeared 20 nautical miles east of the Salisbury Plain Danger Area, in Wiltshire, in southern England.
A series of six or seven blips moved on a south-easterly track, each being separated by about six miles.
At about 40 miles from where they appeared on radar, they disappeared – and another blip would appear almost immediately back at the starting point.
Mr Turner said they were at about 3,000ft, but climbed so rapidly they were at 60,000ft when they disappeared.
He said: “To climb to such a height in only forty miles was beyond the ability of any fighter aircraft at the time.”
The phenomenon was witnessed by four civil and six military controllers on duty at the time.
Mr Turner called Heathrow Radar to discover that they, also, were seeing a similar picture. The same situation was observed at RAF Neatishead.
The three units used different radars at different frequencies.
Mr Turner said: “I am at a loss to explain what I, and many other people, saw. In those days aircraft could not climb at such a rate.”

SIGHTING: A UFO spotted in Melbourne, Australia
2. Dad and son’s UFO photo confirmed as genuine
Roy and Ralph Keane captured extremely rare photographs of a UFO in Melbourne, Australia, which have been studied by experts and determined genuine.
The dad and son took the picture in their back garden on September 19, 1995.
Mr Keane said the object was photographed, it hovered then dipped and moved to the left very suddenly.

The pair went round the house to try to see the object but it had disappeared.
The pictures were analysed by photographic expert Winston Keech.
His report said: "Using extreme gamma adjustments and edge detection algorithms, no supporting wires or other linear edge features were found – so the object is not suspended by wire.
“This does appear to be a solid reflective object that is unsupported in mid air.”
3. Lancashire UFO in sight for very long time
In November 1985, Josephine Howard was walking to her car outside her home in Darwen, Lancs., when she saw two round red lights in the sky.
The lights, which were about the size of car headlights, were on the front of a diamond-shaped object about 200 to 300ft in the air.
There were no beams coming from the lights and as they came overhead there was no noise.

She said: “As it moved overhead I could see the underneath of the object.
“It was very large and seemed to be very heavy-looking.
“I kept wondering how something so big and heavy looking could move so slowly and not make a noise.”
The object was “huge” and had round-headed studs underneath, she said.
At the point where it was almost out of sight, it seemed to tilt upwards and shoot off at a great speed and was gone.
The object had been in sight for about eight minutes – a very long time for a UFO sighting.
4. Woman suffers strange injuries after “alien” encounter
The strangest case Mr Mantle ever encountered happened on January 24, 1992, in Mezobbereny, in Hungary.
A 50-year-old woman was at home with her husband when a “dull black egg-shaped object about 120cm in height” shot across her kitchen, making a “rippling” movement.
A loud snorting sound was heard.
The upper part of the object became a blue-grey colour, with a vibrating orange vertical stripe.
Next to this stripe stood a “wonderful-looking woman”, who looked directly at the witness.

BIZARRE: Strange marks on the body of woman after an alien encounter
The Hungarian woman said she felt well – but was unable to talk.
She followed the strange being into an adjoining room, but when she entered the room the woman had gone.
A few days later, she felt very tired and went to bed at 6.30pm.
Out of nowhere, she heard a woman's voice, which asked her to lift up her arm.
She raised her arm and felt a severe pain in her elbow joint.
Next the witness got up and went outside to the garden, still in her night gown and with nothing on her feet.
In the garden stood a cabin-like object.
She count see anyone in the object, but she felt a “presence” – as if someone was there unseen.
The woman lost consciousness. When she came round, she was back in bed, fully clothed but with a sharp pain in her abdomen.
A few days later, a number of large red marks appeared on the upper part of her abdomen and the lower part of her breasts.
Neither her nor her doctor could find a cause for the strange marks, which didn’t hurt or irritate her.

5. Whole family sees UFO and alien beings in Yorkshire
Mr Mantle’s number one unexplained case involved UFO craft landing and aliens appearing, witnessed by an entire family.
A woman named Mrs Westerman was at home in Normanton, West Yorkshire, in 1979 when her eight-year-old daughter came in, saying an “aeroplane” had landed in a nearby field.
Mrs Westerman and her six children went out to find a large dull-grey object, “shaped like a Mexican sombrero”.
Around the object stood three very tall “men”, all of whom appeared to be dressed in metallic silver suits, which creased as they moved.

The “men” had dark objects like torches, but without a light, in their hands and were pointing to an instrument on the ground.
The children and Mrs Westerman made their way over the field towards the object and stopped at a fence.
The men walked to the rear of the object and it rose vertically, stopped in mid-air, and then shot off at an angle at high speed.
Mrs Westermen and all six children gave the same account to Mr Mantle when he interviewed them.
Mr Mantle will speak at a major UFO conference organised by Outer Limits Magazine in Hull next month.

Van gigantische dinosaurussen tot een King Kong-achtige mega-aap.
1. Gigantische dinosaurus Met een lengte van zo’n 40 meter en een gewicht dat grofweg overeenkomt met het gewicht van tien Afrikaanse olifanten was P. mayorum een flinke jongen. Alleen het dijbeen van de dinosaurus was al ongeveer net zo lang als een mens en vandaag de dag hebben we dan ook serieus moeite om een museumzaal te vinden waar deze dinosaurus helemaal inpast (zie afbeelding hieronder). De dinosaurus leefde een slordige 100 miljoen jaar geleden in Argentinië en onderhield zijn enorme lijf door heel veel bladeren te eten.
Omdat de dinosaurus niet helemaal in de zaal van het American Museum of Natural History past, steekt de kop er een stukje buiten.

2. Mega-aap Hij wordt ook wel King Kong genoemd en dat is niet zo gek. Want Gigantopithecus, de grootste aap die ooit op aarde heeft geleefd, moet ongeveer net zo indrukwekkend zijn geweest. Naar schatting was de aap tussen de 1,8 en 3 meter hoog en woog deze een slordige 500 kilo. De gigantische aap leefde meer dan 100.000 jaar geleden in zuidoost-Azië. Recent onderzoek suggereert dat de gigantische aap alleen maar planten at en onder meer vanwege zijn kieskeurige eetgedrag uitstierf.

3. Enorme haai Het klinkt als een nachtmerrie. Een haai met tanden die tot wel 18 centimeter lang zijn en een bek die opengesperd zo’n drie meter hoog is. Toch heeft deze haai echt bestaan. Carcharocles megalodon leefde tussen de 23 en 2,6 miljoen jaar geleden en zou ongeveer achttien meter lang zijn geweest. De mega-haai at voornamelijk andere zeedieren, zoals potvissen, zeekoeien en dolfijnen.
Een replica van de enorme slang is te bewonderen in het Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
4. Gigantische slang Wie het niet op slangen heeft, zal blij zijn dat dit exemplaar inmiddels is uitgestorven. Titanoboa cerrejonensis wordt gezien als de grootste slang die ooit op aarde heeft rondgekropen. De slang zou zo’n 14 meter lang zijn geweest en meer dan 1000 kilo hebben gewogen. De slang leefde zo’n 60 miljoen jaar geleden in wat nu Colombia is. De slang moet groot en sterk genoeg zijn geweest om bijvoorbeeld te kunnen jagen op krokodillen.
5. Meganeura monyi Dit moet het grootste vliegende insect zijn geweest dat ooit op aarde heeft rondgevlogen. Het insect doet een beetje denken aan een libelle, maar dan met een spanwijdte van zo’n 70(!) centimeter. Het insect leefde zo’n 280 miljoen jaar geleden en at waarschijnlijk andere insecten, maar ook hagedissen. Dat het insect zo groot kon worden, komt volgens onderzoekers doordat de atmosfeer honderden miljoenen jaren geleden meer zuurstof herbergde dan vandaag de dag het geval is. En dat is gunstig voor insecten die een passief ademhalingssysteem hebben. (Insecten hebben geen longen; zuurstof wordt passief door hun weefsels verspreid middels tracheeën, een stelsel van kleine buisjes met openingen aan de zijkant van het lichaam die elke cel verbinden aan poriën in de huid. Vanzelfsprekend kan zo’n passief ademhalingssysteem in een beperkte tijd maar beperkte hoeveelheden zuurstof bij de weefsels afleveren en wordt de omvang van een insect dus begrensd door de zuurstofaanvoer. In een zuurstofrijkere atmosfeer kunnen insecten groter worden.)

6. Grote vogels De olifantsvogel kon wel drie meter lang worden en zo’n 450 kilo wegen. De eieren waren soms wel groter dan 30 centimeter. De vogel leefde tot in de zeventiende eeuw op Madagaskar. Waarom de vogel uitstierf, is niet duidelijk. Vermoed wordt echter dat de mens er iets mee te maken had: mogelijk had deze het te vaak op de eieren van de enorme vogel voorzien. Overigens was de olifantsvogel met zijn enorme omvang niet in staat om het luchtruim te kiezen. Daar maakten in het verleden weer andere giganten de dienst uit, zoals Pelagornis sandersi, met een geschatte spanwijdte van meer dan 7 meter.
7. Arthropleura Tot dit geslacht gehoren de grootste ongewervelden die ooit op aarde hebben geleefd. Deze enorme duizendpoten konden tot wel 50 centimeter breed en 2,3(!) meter lang worden. De enorme duizendpoten leefden meer dan 300 miljoen jaar geleden in wat nu Noord-Amerika en Schotland is. Op sommige plekken zijn zelfs de pootafdrukken van de duizendpoten nog bewaard gebleven! In eerste instantie dachten onderzoekers dat deze duizendpoten echte roofdieren waren, maar nadat ze de maaginhoud van één van deze uitgestorven beestjes hadden bestudeerd, werd duidelijk dat deze alleen maar plantenmateriaal aten. Een geruststellende gedachte, maar toch blijft het idee van een twee meter lange duizendpoot een beetje angstaanjagend, vind je niet?

A top British UFO investigator says he has proof aliens are real - and he has now revealed details of some pretty chilling close encounters .
Philip Mantle, a world renowned expert, has probed hundreds of cases over the years, but these are his top five secret X-files...
Even if you're a sceptic, you'll have to admit that some of these do seem a little bizarre - and downright terrifying.
1. Random flying objects caught whizzing through the air on THREE different radars in 1971

Wing Commander Alan Turner was duty military supervisor at RAF Sopley in 1971 when he noticed something amiss in the sky.
He described seeing objects climbing at supersonic speeds from 3,000ft to 60,000ft beyond the capabilities of any aircraft at the time.
It was his duty supervisor who spotted the phenomenon and nobody had ever seen anything like it before.
Mr Turner said: "Emanating from a point some 20 nautical miles east of the eastern extremity of the Salisbury Plain Danger Area were a series of six or seven blips moving on a south-easterly track each being separated from the other by about six miles.
"At about 40 miles from the point they appeared on radar they disappeared to be followed almost immediately by a replacement at the point of origin.
"I put the FPS 6 Height Finder onto some returns to discover that they were about 3,000 feet when they came into radar cover and climbing extremely rapidly so that, by the time they disappeared from radar, they were in excess of 60,000 feet.
"To climb to such a height in only forty miles was beyond the ability of any fighter aircraft at the time."
But he and his colleague were not the only ones to notice the spooky UFOs whirring through the air.
He called Heathrow Radar to discover that they, too, were seeing a similar picture - as were the Fighter Control Operations Rooms at RAF Neatishead.
They were all using different frequencies and the weather forecast in the area was calm and sunny. So what could it have been?
"I am at a loss to explain what I, and many other people, saw. In those days aircraft could not climb at such a rate.
"To be seen on displays by three different ground radars, plus the airborne radar in the Canberra, is also a mystery."

The pictures, taken by Roy and Ralph Keen in Kilsyth on September 19, 1995, have been studied are are, in fact, genuine.
Mr Keane said at the time: “Each time the ‘object’ was photographed, it appeared to be moving on a trajectory to our right as we looked up at it.
"Almost immediately after each picture was taken, the flying object seemed to momentarily ‘hover’, then ‘dip’ and move to the left very suddenly. “Each time this occurred, both my son and I rushed around the side of our house in an attempt to see where the object had moved to.
"Each time, on arrival at the front of our house, there was no sign of the object anywhere to be seen in the sky.”
The pictures were analysed by photographic expert Winston Keech whose report said: “Using extreme gamma adjustments and edge detection algorithms - no supporting wires or other linear edge features were found.
"So the object is not suspended by wire - as the cloud contrast is good, this would have been found.
"This does appear to be a solid reflective object that is unsupported in mid air. Due to the high shutter speeds used, it may well be moving at reasonable speed without any discernible image blurring.”
3. The longest reported sightings of a UFO in Darwen, Lancashire, in November 1985

Mrs Josephine Howard, from Darwen in Lancashire, was just "happened to look up" as she was walking to her car one day and spotted two, round red lights in the sky.
Mr Mantle said: "They were about the size of car headlights. Her curiosity aroused and Mrs Howard s topped to take a better look. There were no beams coming from the lights as they came overheard there was no noise."
It was one of the many sightings in the mid-1980s that spanned the borders of both Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Mr Mantle added: “The witness estimated that she had the object in sight for about eight minutes in total which is a long time for UFO sightings.
"It was a ‘diamond’ shape with two lights at the front and it was totally noiseless at all times. She estimated that to her it was 200-300 feet above her.
Mrs Howard described the scene at the time saying: “I could not see the lights as it moved overhead but I could see the underneath of the object.
"This object was very large and seemed to be very heavylooking. I kept wondering how something so big and heavy looking could move so slowly and not make a noise.
"I kept watching and took in as much detail as I could. The object was huge and its underneath had what looked like round-headed studs.
"The object moved overhead and I kept watching it until it was almost out of sight at which point it seemed to tilt upwards and shoot off at a great speed and was gone.”
4. The woman who woke up with strange markings on her stomach after encountering "bizarre" woman in Hungary in 1992

The strangest case he ever encountered which doctors were unable to explain happened in remains in Hungary on January 24, 1992.
The case involved a 50 year old woman from Mezobbereny in Hungary.
She was at home with her husband when a dull, black egg-shaped object around 120 cm in height shot across the kitchen, making a ‘rippling’ movement during which a strong ‘snorting’ sound was heard.
The upper part of the object became a blue-grey colour with a vibrating orange vertical stripe. Next to this stripe stood a ‘wonderful looking woman’ who looked directly at the witness.
The witness felt well, but she was unable to talk. She followed this being into another room but when she entered, the woman had gone.
She told her husband what had happened but he did not believe her.
The weekend passed without any further events but on Monday she felt very tired and went to bed at 6.30 pm. Her husband was in the same room with her watching TV.
Out of nowhere she heard a woman’s voice which asked her to lift up her arm. She raised her arm and felt a severe pain in her elbow joint.
Next the woman got up and went outside to the garden still in her nightdress and with nothing on her feet.
In the garden stood a cabin-like object.
Explaining what happened, Mr Mantle said: “The witness entered the object but did not see anyone else in there but she did feel a presence as if someone was there but could not be seen.
"When she came around she found herself back in bed, fully clothed but with a sharp pain in her abdomen. On Thursday and Friday a number of large red marks appeared on the upper part of her abdomen and the lower section of her breasts.
"These marks were not painful and they did not itch either. The marks were not sensitive to either hot or cold water.
“These ‘close encounters’ were the first in a series events that went on over the next few week."
Neither the lady involved nor her doctor could find a conventional cause for the strange marks on her body.

Mr Mantle says this case has stayed with him ever since he first investigated it with colleague Mark Birdsall of the Yorkshire UFO Society.
A woman, Mrs Westerman, said she was at home doing the washing one sunny afternoon as he children were outside playing a ballgame in the sun.
It was around mid-afternoon when her eight-year-old daughter suddenly ran into the house shouting and crying, telling her mother to "come quick, and airplane just landed in the field".
The Waterman’s was near to the end of a cul-de-sac, and beyond that, fields which contained electricity pylons.
“Mrs Westerman ran outside and a few hundred yards away, in the fields adjacent to her house, she saw an object on the ground. It was a dull grey colour and had the appearance of a ‘Mexican hat’.
“Around the object stood three very tall ‘men’ all of who, appeared to be dressed in silver suits. These men seemed to be pointing to a dark instrument on the ground. The children and Mrs Westerman made their way over the field towards this object and stopped at a fence.
"The men walked to the rear of the object and it rose vertically, stopped in mid-air, and then shot off at an angle at a high rate of speed.
“Needless to say they were speechless. All six of Mrs Westerman’s children related similar accounts to us.
"There were very minor discrepancies but only as you would have expected to find from different people. All of the children were of the opinion that the dark object the men had in their hands, of which they moved about, looked like a torch but it had no light and gave off no sound."
The ‘uniforms’ the men wore, were metallic silver and would crease when the men moved. All of the witnesses stated quite clearly that both upon landing and departure, this object never made a sound.
Mr Mantle, the former director of investigations of the British UFO Research Association and UK representative of MUFON - the world's biggest UFO organisation, is due to speak about his research for the final time in September.

With alien encounters, people usually find that an explanation depends on not necessarily in the skies, but the mentality of every individual.
While the opinions of critics drown out the voices of those who believe the existence of legitimate aliens, some events beguile explanation. The best illustration would be the Brazil’s Night of UFOs. Enthusiasts and locals alike have been amazed to such incident, which is probably the reason why it has become the most legitimate UFO-related encounter in decades. Interestingly, the incident has been easily forgotten despite the comprehensive national coverage of the encounter in the days that followed. Brazil’s Night of UFOs took place on May 19, 1986, and it covered approximately 21 unidentified objects that were seen by the Air Force radars of the country. According to a Redditor, the strange objects were observed by different witnesses in various parts of the country, comprising Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. What was terrific about the Night of UFOs in Brazil was not the number of strange objects that were spotted that night, but the transparency and the reaction of the Brazilian government and military during the incident was notable.
The country’s Air Force night was deployed during the Brazil’s Night of UFOs to investigate and engage with mysterious objects. The aircraft released were capable of soaring at high speeds. However, reports say that strange air vessels outran the military fighters, flying as fast as 2500 mph. The entire rivalry between them has lasted for three hours. According to later reports, the U.S. government got involved, but its full disclosure was never revealed. The incidents released were the usual sceptical explanations regarding what might have taken place during the Night such as the ball lightning, meteor showers, a reflection of the full moon, or an issue concerning the Air Force’s radar system. Without a doubt, interest in the incident died for decades.

One of the witnesses Jing Qi says that an oval shape UFO appears in the sky and expands at it comes closer to the crowd.
The ring UFO appears to change shape into a parallelogram before disappearing.
Social media users who saw the video online speculate on the possible origin of the bizarre object on Weibo.
Some say the ring could have been a group of insects flying together and forming such shape. Others say that it could have been special visual effects from a show organised for the public.
However, some other viewers of the video suggest that extraterrestrials have something to do with the UFO.

'Jellyfish' Galaxies Reveal Feeding Habits of Monster Black Holes

Glowing "jellyfish" galaxies have revealed a new way to power some of the most powerful objects in the universe. The same process that feeds the most voracious black holes at the galactic centers may also create dangling "tentacles" of newborn stars, a new study found.
While most galaxies, including the Milky Way, hide massive black holes at their centers, only a few produce enough electromagnetic radiation as they eat to create active galactic nuclei (AGN). AGN shine brilliantly in the universe, and why they form around some black holes and not others has been an ongoing mystery. But jellyfish galaxies may help crack the case.
"When a galaxy enters a galaxy cluster, falling into it at high velocity, the hot, dense gas that fills the cluster — the so-called intracluster gas — acts like a strong wind on the galaxy gas," Bianca Poggianti, lead author on the new study, told Space.com by email. "It strips it away and creates the tails," which give the galaxies their "jellyfish" nickname. [When Galaxies Collide: Photos of Great Galactic Crashes]

This same wind that forms the jellyfish galaxies may also feed growing AGNs, she said.
Poggianti, a researcher at the INAF-Astronomical Observatory of Padova in Italy, is part of an international team of scientists using the Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) instrument on the European Space Observatory's Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile to examine jellyfish galaxies. The researchers found that an unexpectedly high fraction of the tentacled galaxies contain AGN.
"Ours is the first study that systematically searches for [jellyfish galaxies] and tries to have a complete census in different regions of the local universe," Poggianti said.
Solving a mystery
Supermassive black holes constantly feed. As they draw in surrounding gas and dust, they produce intense radiation that can sometimes be seen from Earth, leaving scientists to ponder these objects' food source. While black holes are common, the more powerful and visible AGN are rare.
Poggianti and her team are part of an ongoing program to observe 114 jellyfish galaxies, an order of magnitude more than previously observed in detail, she said. Of the seven galaxies with the longest tails, the researchers found that six housed a supermassive black hole, suggesting a link between the two types of object. Previous studies suggested that the powerful cluster winds stretched the tentacles out for tens of light-years in a process known as ram-pressure stripping. These same winds could feed the supermassive black holes, constantly nourishing them by carrying material to the center of the galaxy.

But, the scientists wondered, did the winds feed the black holes, or did the black holes produce the winds?
"In a sense, this is similar to the problem of the chicken and the egg — which one comes first," Poggianti said. "While both effects are probably at work, we have good reason to think that the first effect prevails."
By studying the positioning and velocity of the galaxies, the researchers found that all of these objects lie close to the center of the cluster and have high speeds compared to that of the cluster itself.
"They are in the ideal conditions for ram-pressure stripping to be the strongest," Poggianti said.
On the other hand, if effects from the galactic center formed the massive tentacles, she said, the galaxies would be scattered more randomly.
A jellyfish galaxy like this, called JO204 and imaged with ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile, may have helped cracked the mystery of what feeds supermassive black holes.

Blooming jellyfish
As cluster winds sweep away the dust and gas in a galaxy, the tentacles they create fill with brilliant young stars. These stars shine brightly in optical wavelengths of light, making the objects stand out to researchers who picked through images of over 70 galaxy clusters hunting for tails, Poggianti said. The scientists also found jellyfish outside of clusters, some as part of galaxy groups and others off on their own. Galaxies found in groups tend to lack the spectacular tails of their cluster compatriots, and all of those found with AGN lie in clusters, Poggianti said.
Simulations combining ram-pressure stripping and AGN-hosting galaxies would be both complicated and computationally expensive, requiring significant time and computer power, Poggianti said. That's why no such simulations exist — yet, she said.
"I imagine that, following our discovery, there will be research groups in the world that will attempt to simulate the two processes together," she said. The paper said that such simulations would be valuable for interpreting the new connection.
The seven jellyfish are only part of a larger swarm. Within the GAs Stripping Phenomena in galaxies with MUSE (GASP) program, Poggianti and her colleagues are continuing to investigate over a hundred more of the intriguing galaxies. [Amazing Space Views of ESO's Very Large Telescope (Photos)]
"When all of the observations will be in our hands — I expect [in] about a year from now — we will be able to have a complete picture," Poggianti said. Once the researchers have obtained all of the data, the team will be able to see how features change and evolve. Observing the jellyfish — some at the beginning of gas removal, others with long tails and still others devoid of gas with no fuel to birth young stars — will allow the researchers to investigate the various stages of the jellyfish lifecycle, Poggianti said.
"This is like seeing galaxy evolution happening in front of your eyes from a front row," she said.
The team is planning, and in some case already working, to observe the galaxies at different wavelengths with the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array in New Mexico and the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment and Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array in Chile, Poggianti said. Such observations will help researchers to understand how gas in the jellyfish galaxies evolve over time, she said.
"This is really great, because these are the most powerful astronomical observational facilities in the world, each in its own field and wavelength," Poggianti said. "Their combination will allow us to study all the different gas phases, [and] how they relate to each other and to the formation of new stars."

After orbiting Saturn for more than 13 years, NASA's Cassini spacecraft is getting ready to say goodbye.
On Monday (Aug. 14), Cassini made the first of five passes through Saturn's upper atmosphere, kicking off the last phase of the mission's "Grand Finale." After completing those five dives, Cassini will come back around again one last time, plunging into Saturn's atmosphere on Sept. 15.
Cassini will keep sending back data on Sept. 15 until it gets to an altitude where atmospheric density is about twice what it encountered during its final five passes, NASA officials said. At that point, mission controllers will lose contact with the probe because its thrusters won't be able to keep Cassini's antenna pointed toward Earth; there will simply be too much air to push against.
During these last few orbits, Cassini will come so close to Saturn — 1,010 to 1,060 miles (1,630 to 1,710 kilometers) above its cloud tops — that atmospheric drag will be a factor, and the craft will need to use its thrusters to maintain its altitude. Scientists aren't sure how dense the atmosphere is in this region.
Mission controllers can adjust the amount of thrust as needed. If Saturn's atmosphere in this region is denser than the models predict, Cassini's thrusters will "pop up" the spacecraft on the first pass and increase the minimum altitude of subsequent passes. If the atmosphere proves thinner, then the probe can "pop down" and decrease the altitude, NASA officials said.
Cassini's last orbits should deliver a wealth of data, NASA officials said. The spacecraft will study Saturn's auroras and temperature, as well as the vortices at the planet's poles. Cassini's radar will be able to look into the atmosphere and see features as small as 16 miles (25 km) wide, about 100 times smaller than what it could see from its usual orbital positions.
The Grand Finale will include one final swing by Saturn's largest moon, Titan, on Sept. 11. Titan's gravity will slow Cassini’s orbit around Saturn and bend its path to send the spacecraft toward its Sept. 15 encounter with the planet.
"As it makes these five dips into Saturn, followed by its final plunge, Cassini will become the first Saturn atmospheric probe," Cassini project scientist Linda Spilker, of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, said in a statement. "It's long been a goal in planetary exploration to send a dedicated probe into the atmosphere of Saturn, and we're laying the groundwork for future exploration with this first foray."

The space weather event, known as a coronal mass ejection (CME), was observed by three satellites operating outside the path of the flare, namely ESA’s Proba-2, the ESA-NASA joint project SOHO and NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, in October 2014.

The ESA’s Olivier Witasse had been leading the space agency’s Mars Express, a project examining the effect of the comet Siding Spring on the atmosphere of the Red Planet. During the research, the team detected signs of the CME on Mars and, in the subsequent investigation, accessed data collected by the 10 spacecraft in its path.
“CME speeds with distance from the sun is not well understood, in particular in the outer Solar System,”said Witasse. “Thanks to the precise timings of numerous in situ measurements, we can better understand the process.”
The data gives an indication of the speed, distance and direction of travel of the CME, with the effects of the flare reportedly felt by NASA’s Voyager-2, then at the edge of the solar system approaching Pluto.
After emission, the solar flare travelled at speeds of up to 1,000km per second (6,000 miles per second) before slowing to 500km/sec after reaching the Cassini space probe in November 2014.
Luckily, Earth was not in the CME’s path – a phenomenon that scientists say has potential to be hugely damaging to our way of life.
Experts have warned that a powerful geomagnetic storm would likely knock out power grids, communications and satellite technology, causing trillions of dollars worth of damage to the global economy. They even cite as evidence the 1859 ‘Carrington Event’ in which a solar flare knocked out telegraph systems all over Europe and North America.
Most people believe in at least one conspiracy theory. A conspiracy theory usually contradicts the usual, popularly-accepted version of an event or phenomena. People continue to believe a theory in the hope that they will eventually be proven right.
1. 9/11 was an inside job
The terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 were actually orchestrated by the US government.
The theory is that the jet fuel from the planes was not enough to melt the steel beams of the World Trade Center towers. The buildings were brought down by a controlled demolition.
One reason for the theory’s longevity is that it has been proven that the war in Iraq was justified by using false information about the existence of so called weapons of mass destruction.
2. A secret group controls the world
This elite group is mostly referred to as the Illuminati and it has been controlling the world for centuries. Its end game is to create a New World Order which will dissolve national boundaries and people’s identities while allowing for total authoritarian control.
Other versions of this theory see other groups in a similar position of world domination – the Freemasons, the Jewish people, the Bilderberg Group or the “globalists” that are often invoked in the right wing media. President Trump himself mentions “globalists” and invokes fighting against insidious “elites” as a battle cry for his base.
3. The moon landing didn’t happen
The moon landing did not happen and evidence was orchestrated by NASA and the US government to make them seem superior to the Soviet Union and to boost national pride.
NASA faked the landings to avoid humiliation and to ensure that it continued to get funding.
Moon-landing conspiracists focus heavily on NASA photos. They point to oddities in photos and films taken on the Moon.
Another theory is that Stanley Kubrick, director and producer of 2001: A Space Odyssey was the mastermind behind the fake footage of the moon landing.
4. Roswell, Area 51 and aliens
The remains of an alien spacecraft that crashed near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 are stored at Area 51, a top-secret military base about 250 km from Las Vegas where government scientists conduct research on alien technology and time travel.
This theory is partly fueled by UFO sightings in the area and the testimony of a retired army colonel who says he was given access to extraterrestrial materials from Roswell.
The US government’s secrecy about Area 51 and the fact that information about it is classified “for purposes of national security” is further proof that the military is hiding aliens or alien spacecraft.
5. Reptilians are running the world
Famously espoused by David Icke, this is another version of secret groups controlling the world. According to a national survey 12 million Americans believe this theory.
The belief is that the top echelons of governments are controlled by shape-shifting reptilian aliens, who have been wielding power over humans for thousands of years to turn them into mindless slaves.
6. Chemtrails
The lines of clouds in a clear blue sky are actually “chemtrails” – chemicals sprayed by the government to control the population.
The purpose of the claimed chemical release may be solar radiation management, psychological manipulation, human population control, weather modification, or biological or chemical warfare. The trails are causing respiratory illnesses and other health problems.
7. The Holocaust never happened
In spite of a well-documented historical fact that six million Jews were exterminated by German Nazis during the second world war there are people who believe the Holocaust did not happen.
Only about 54 percent of the world’s population has heard of the Holocaust, according to a large 100-country survey by the Anti-Defamation League. Only a third of those who’ve heard of it believe the Holocaust is portrayed correctly
I’m writing this column from my hotel room in Roswell, N.M. Roswell is, of course, famous for the alleged alien crash landing that happened in 1947.
Roswell also happens to be the last leg of my family’s summer vacation. We opted for a two-week vacation instead of our customary one week because we had a lot of places we’ve always wanted to visit.
My husband had absolutely no interest in visiting Roswell and hearing about aliens, but my son and I couldn’t wait to get here. While it’s been a blast hearing about the supposed cover-up at Roswell (and I’ll keep my opinion about that to myself), most of the alien-like sightings we’ve had during this trip haven’t been at Roswell.
They’ve been at the slew of national parks we’ve visited on our trip – places like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, White Sands National Monument, the Grand Tetons and Lake Mead.
We had planned for months to visit these places, but we only learned right before we left that we qualified for free entry into all national parks we visited because my child had just completed fourth grade. Under a program established by then President Barack Obama, all fourth-graders and their families receive free entry into any of the national parks they visit. Hopefully, this program continues, so more families can experience the natural beauty these parks have to offer.
While we would have visited these places regardless of what we were charged to see them, having free access saved us a bundle.
I think introducing kids who are in middle school to national parks is a great idea because they are at such an influential age. A trip to Yellowstone may put them on a career path they may have never considered.
Plus, it gives them a sense of ownership. My daughter felt like a special guest of the parks we entered. She had her own card that gave us free access, and the employees would ask where our fourth-grader was when we pulled up to the admission gates. She’d wave her hand like a celebrity, and we’d get right in. And now, as our trip is winding down, that card will serve as a unique souvenir of the biggest trip we’ve ever taken together.
It will help her remember the mind-blowing things we saw, the natural landscapes that made us feel like we were the aliens on a whole different planet entirely. That card will remind her of the world-famous geysers we saw at Yellowstone, and the things we didn’t even know existed like the colorful geyser basins and the Dragon’s Mouth formation that hinted at the enormous volcanic pressure under our feet at Yellowstone.
Years from now, that card may spark a memory for her of the half-mile walk we took down into the Grand Canyon – a walk that consisted of a narrow dirt path and no handrails in sight. Although we had all obviously heard of the wonder of the Grand Canyon, hearing about it and seeing it in person are two different things entirely. Walking down that pathway, I felt like a visitor on the planet I have lived on all my life. It was completely foreign from anything I had ever seen.
Another alien-like place we visited was White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. The giant white sand dunes there are completely cool to the touch, unlike beach sand. The dunes are so tall, we rented sleds to slide down them as if it was winter in summertime. I couldn’t let my kids have all the fun so I slid down them too, laughing as I wiped out on the particularly steep dunes. The whole landscape seemed like something you might see in Star Wars movies instead of here on Earth.
But while the landscape we saw may have seemed extraterrestrial, we also saw flashes of human creativity and ingenuity everywhere we went. There were roads built through mountains and tales about people conquering the wilderness of the Grand Canyon long before they had any sort of technology to help them.
We saw a bottle forest in California – a man had created it alongside the highway. For whatever reason when he looked at an empty bottle, he didn’t see it as junk. He saw it as a piece of a glass tree and he built a forest of those trees for people to enjoy at no cost. It might seem like a strange thing to do, but it was a spectacular sight.
I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of aliens, ever since I was little. But as it turns out, you don’t have to look to the skies to spot something that looks like it belongs on another world. You just have to explore the places and people that are already on our planet. There’s still plenty of wonder here if you look hard enough.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Exactly 14 years to the day, before I was born, when U.S. Sen. John F. Kennedy first used the term “missile gap” – a phrase that was later parodied in Stanley Kubrick’s Cold War classic Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb and called a “Doomsday gap.”
In that film, which was scheduled to be previewed by film critics on Nov. 22, 1963 – but was held off because it was the same day Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas – the Russian ambassador explains that his government had heard – via The New York Times! – that it was reported the U.S. was also working on a “Doomsday machine.” An arms race of insanity.
“We were afraid of a Doomsday gap,” the ambassador tells President Muffley (Peter Sellers).
After the assassination, Kubrick and Columbia Pictures opted to hold off screening the anti-war farce until a few weeks later, in early 1964.
But that “Doomsday gap” comment, in retrospect, comes off as a backhanded criticism of Kennedy’s presumed militarism.
It happened on August 14, 1958. The same year Kennedy was re-elected to a second term in the Senate, representing Massachusetts. But he was also planning a run for the presidency in 1960 and began pounding away at President Eisenhower and the Republicans about being “weak on defense.”
Why? The Soviet Union had launched Sputnik in 1957 and Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev announced that the USSR had an ICBM with a range of 8,000 miles and that they were in “mass production.”
Kennedy said: “Our Nation could have afforded, and can afford now, the steps necessary to close the missile gap.”
Naturally, this being the Cold War, there was concern about this and so certain interests wanted to ramp up production of America’s nuclear arsenal in those dark days of the Cold War, leading up to the October 1962 missile crisis – nearly two years after outgoing President Eisenhower warned Americans of the growing “military-industrial complex.”
Nevertheless, Kennedy wanted to appear strong on defense and so initially (and unwittingly) Kennedy used inflated numbers provided to him by U.S. Sen. Stuart Symington (D-Mo.). Symington was a former Secretary of the Air Force from 1947-50, who provided those inflated U.S. Air Force numbers.
Coincidentally, Symington was head of the U.S. Air Force when Project Sign was initiated in 1948 , a government study of the UFO phenomenon, and its follow-up, in 1949, Project Grudge. Sec. Symington likely knew A LOT about the UFO mystery he did not share with his Show-Me State constituents or the rest of the American people.
These would lead up to the launching of the notorious Project Blue Book (1952-69), which was later viewed as a government project designed to actually cover-up real reports of UFOs.
Curiously, Sen. Symington’s cousin, Fife Symington III, was governor of Arizona when the widely-reported “Phoenix Lights” UFO sighting occurred in March 1997.
At the time, due to public pressure and so many witnesses, Gov. Symington said he was going to investigate the mass UFO sighting over Arizona’s capital city, only to later hold a press conference and bring out his chief of staff in an alien costume – making the whole thing a big joke.
But 10 years later, Symington made a major admission, saying he actually saw the UFO himself, calling it a “great mystery.”
“It was enormous and inexplicable. Who knows where it came from? A lot of people saw it, and I saw it too. It was dramatic. And it couldn't have been flares because it was too symmetrical. It had a geometric outline, a constant shape.”
KENNEDY & UFOs
So, with the Cold War heating up during Kennedy’s term as president, it is said that he had a serious affair with actress and starlet Marilyn Monroe in the years leading up to her death (allegedly a suicide induced by an overdose of pills)
In a book I read and reviewed – Dr. Donald R. Burleson’s UFOs and the Murder of Marilyn Monroe, the author alleges the Kennedy brothers had Monroe killed because she allegedly “knew too much” and had evidence kept in a secret diary. Apparently, Monroe was upset that she was being increasingly left out in the cold by the Kennedys. She felt used and wanted revenge and allegedly planned to hold a press conference about “what she knew.”
Was this about Kennedy’s acknowledgement that the UFO “threat” was real? Classified investigations were taking place during the Kennedy administration as they were during the Eisenhower years, presumably with their knowledge. This was the era when most Americans "trusted" their government. Sure, secret projects were being conducted, many assumed, but with our best interest in mind, right?
As I noted in my review: “Apparently, Marilyn Monroe was aware of not only the crashed Roswell saucer, but of JFK’s plans to kill Cuba’s Fidel Castro.”
And then there was Kennedy's assassination a little over a year later. A lot of high weirdness surrounding that horrific event in our history.
CRISIS MODE
Again, this was in late summer of 1962, just weeks before those 13 days in October, better known as the “Cuban Missile Crisis.” With tensions between the U.S. and USSR at their heightes, particularly over concerns regarding Soviet ballistic missile deployment in Cuba – 90 miles from American shores – the Joint Chiefs of Staff wanted to attack and invade the island nation, controlled by Fidel Castro.
“Direct aggression against Cuba would mean nuclear war,” said Ernesto “Che” Guevara , as reported in The Times of London in an article headlined: “Attack us at your peril, Cocky Cuba warns U.S.”
Che Guevara would be executed five years later in remote Bolivia under suspicious circumstances, as we’ve noted before.
Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed back in '62 and a nuclear exchange was avoided. But the nukes never really went away. Many still exist and more countries now have nukes, as North Korea has announced. And with the egomaniacal and crazed Kim Jong-un in power, it seems as though these two bad-haired narcissists are bringing the world ever closer to World War III.
REPEATER
History has a funny – and frightening – way of repeating itself. Look at the tensions between right and left here in the United States. With the U.S. Civil War having ended 152 years ago, we seem to be fighting the same battles again, while addressing issues regarding race and equality that have not been adequately addressed for all these years, as things came to a head last week in Charlottesville, Virginia, which left a 32-year old protester, Heather Heyer, dead - and Nazi sympathizers practically gleeful.
And yet President Trump sends signals to American fascists, racists and Nazi sympathizers that while he may not support them, the anti-fascist groups are equally bad.
A meme making the rounds notes that that is similar to the Star Wars rebels fighting the Empire being compared and on a “level-playing field” with the planet-destroying Death Star.
As author and Dartmouth College lecturer Mark Bray, an expert on “Antifa,” told Democracy Nowthis week: "And, you know, President Trump’s comments that the alt—quote-unquote, "alt-left" and alt-right are equivalent moral forces is really historically misinformed and morally bankrupt. The anti-fascist movement has a global history that stretches back over—about a century. You can trace them to Italian opposition to Mussolini’s Blackshirts, German opposition to Hitler’s Brownshirts, anti-fascists from around the world who had traveled to Spain to fight in the Spanish Civil War.
Over the past four years I have devoted a lot of time studying the history of the Spanish Civil War. While this was a conflict between fascists and anti-fascists in Spain, international help came from around the world, including the United States. People like longtime Dougherty, Okla. resident and congressional candidate Eugene V. "Debs" Poling, who left Oklahoma to fight the Gen. Franco's fascists in the late 1930's, only to be given a hard time - like so many other American anti-fascist volunteers - when we entered World War II, as being "premature anti-fascists."
That, of course, is absurd. Ask yourself: Is there ever a bad time to oppose fascism? Here at Red Dirt Report we have been warning readers for a long time now that fascism would truly take root in this country if Trump was elected president, as we predicted in a December 2015 article "Trumpism and the fascist menace."
But many people, in those months before the election, did not want to believe that Trump truly held such odious views and was not willing to wholeheartedly condemn white nationalists, racists and fascists from the get-go. Here in Oklahoma, some of Trump's most vocal supporters were people like the disgraced State Sen. Ralph Shortey (R-OKC) and Islamophobic legislator State Rep. John Bennett, a Republican from Sallisaw.
Isn't there something to be said about "the company you keep"?
In any event, Trump's ongoing "dog-whistle politics" helped elect him and now he seems to be doubling down as Democrats, and a few Republicans, call for Trump's censure over his repugnant "defense of white supremacists," as House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California said in a statement today.
But back to that Democracy Now interview with Mark Bray and the anti-fascists opposing Trump and the growing fascist menace in America:
More recently, modern antifa can largely trace its roots to the anti-fascist movement in Britain in the ’70s, and the postwar period more generally, that was responding to a xenophobic backlash against predominantly Caribbean and South Asian migration, also to the German autonomous movement of the ’80s, which, really, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, had to respond to a really unprecedented neo-Nazi wave—unprecedented in the postwar period, of course.”
We should also note, in regards to the Spanish Civil War template, that international volunteers from around the world have been coming to the northern Syria area of Rojava to help the leftist YPG (People's Protection Units) fight ISIS and other related butchers and madmen running amok in that corner of the world. One wonders if Trump is aware of the egalitarian and anti-fascist YPG and what they actually stand for, considering YPG spokespeople said this week that the U.S. intends to stay in that autonomous region "for decades to come."
KING MIDAS IN REVERSE, WITH NUKES
Meanwhile, back in Washington (and at a few town halls, including here in Oklahoma) you see formerly spineless Republicans starting to back away from toxic Trump, who, despite his mass wealth, is a sort of “King Midas in Reverse" and causing the GOP to sink ever deeper into the shithole of their own making.
And when that is the case, where everything you touch turns to shit, it gets mega-scary when one thinks about the power a president has, particularly when it comes to the threat of thermonuclear war.
Today, in the New York Post, North Korea’s Deputy United Nations Ambassador Kim In Ryong said that if the Trump administration keeps up its “hostile policy and nuclear threat,” they will never put their nuclear weapons program “on the negotiating table.”
And with Trump's administration is full-scale crisis mode and more rats ("the best people!") flee that sinking ship, we can only wonder what horrors and doom lie just around the corner.
I'll end with a "letter to the editor" we received from Oklahoma City resident Frank Silovsky. He has distinct memories of those 13 days in October 1962 when the world was at the precipice of a global thermonuclear war.
Never will I forget that October day in 1962 when I sat in my dorm room "frozen" by the image of President Kennedy announcing to the nation that he had ordered our navy to stop and search every Soviet vessel heading to Cuba for the possibility of finding and removing missile launchers and/or nuclear explosives. Armageddon seemed nigh! That had been my deepest sense of impending doom. Until now.
Khrushchev and Kennedy had both experienced the horror of war so their steady hands averted ultimate war.
We are presently experiencing a very different and even stronger possibility of nuclear war. To our horror, the competing nations this time are led by two absolutely uninformed, bombastic, immature heads of state with no concept of war playing "chicken" with nuclear weapons!

Mysterious phenomena one after another have been baffling the citizens in China. After "floating city" and smoke ring incident, another phenomenon stunned the citizens in China.
Bizzare footage showing a rectangle-shaped mysterious object hovering in the sky in China's Jinan city has left the residents baffled. The video, which was taken on August 13, shows the unidentified rectangular object in the night sky.
Several people shared the footage on social media site Weibo wondering what is the mysterious object. Some people said that the object looks like a mobile phone, while some said it is a flying magic carpet. However, several others said that it is just a projection onto clouds.
"It looks like a mobile phone!" one user said.
"The door of heaven is open," another commented.
"Above is a flying carpet."
According to local reports, the mysterious light is nothing but a spotlight projection.

This is the second time a mysterious object was spotted in China that left the citizens puzzled. Last week, several beachgoers spotted a mysterious smoke ring over a Jinshitan beach, northeastern China. Hundreds of people recorded the footage before it vanished into the clouds.
"There is an unidentified flying object appearing in the sky. Its oval shape is expanding and it is coming towards us closer and closer," one onlooker said in a video.
People initially thought that it is a mysterious object, but later social media users solved the puzzle and said it is just a visual effect from a performance nearby. Even the spokesperson of the event confirmed that the smoke ring is from the sky.
"Whenever the show started, they shot out a black smoke ring," one commentator said.
