Aliens On Mars: Bacteria May Survive Underground For Millions Of Years
Aliens On Mars: Bacteria May Survive Underground For Millions Of Years
Tiny organisms living below the surface of Mars could potentially survive for millions of years, scientists have suggested, potentially offering hope to alien lovers that there could be extraterrestrial life hiding underneath the planet’s red exterior or elsewhere in the universe.
The team studied how hardy microbes are in the face of gamma radiation, which can be dangerous on Mars because that planet does not have the cushy, protective atmosphere that Earth does. To mimic the Martian setting, the researchers conducted their tests in a climate chamber under low temperatures, low air pressure and “dehydration conditions,” according to a study in the journalExtremophiles. Their goal was to figure out whether Earth microorganisms could survive long-term in a frozen state below the Martian surface during “constant absorption and accumulation of the gamma radiation dose.”
Those organisms fared fairly well: Even after the radiation, the cells remained at high levels and were still capable of performing metabolic activity.
And the deeper microorganisms would go beneath the surface, the less exposure they would have to radiation, meaning their survival rates could increase with depth. About 6.5 feet down, they might be able to live for more than 3 million years, and they could potentially survive for 20 million years when they are roughly 16 feet down.
“Investigated microbial communities had shown high resistance to a simulated Martian environment,” the paper said. “The results of the study testify that long-term preservation of microbial life inside Martian permafrost is possible.”
Scientists have suggested that microorganisms can survive the radiation on Mars for millions of years, giving hope to people who want to find alien life on that inhospitable planet.

According to the researchers, knowing the limit of how much radiation the cells can handle before they are destroyed will be important in picking places to explore, developing different methods to search for alien life and planning other missions.
“Until now, no one knew to what extent microorganisms can resist such extreme factors,” Lomonosov Moscow State University said in a statement. “By finding out the limits, scientists can assess the possibility of microorganisms and biomarkers surviving in various objects inside the solar system.”
The findings about microbes’ ability to persevere underground on Mars could be good news to people who have been disappointed to find how inhospitable the surface is. Previous research has suggested life cannot last above ground on Mars — scientists reported earlier this year that some of the most common bacteria on Earth dies when the elements on the Martian surface interact with radiation to make a killer mixture.
The new research also showed there could be different kinds of bacteria that are more resistant to the harsh conditions on Mars than others. Some of those bacteria have previously been found to outlast ultraviolet radiation on Earth, the university explained, “and their DNA is well-preserved in ancient permafrost through millions of years.” That potentially could be significant in the search for extraterrestrial life on Mars.
“In a nutshell, we have conducted a simulation experiment that well covered the conditions of cryoconservation in Martian regolith,” Lomonosov MSU researcher Vladimir S. Cheptsov said in the statement, with the word “regolith” referring to the loose dust and soil atop the rock on Mars. “Taking into account the intensity of radiation in the Mars regolith, the data obtained by us makes it possible to assume that hypothetical Mars ecosystems could be conserved in anabiotic state in the surface layer of regolith (protected from UV rays).”
The biggest radio telescope in the world is dedicated to looking for extraterrestrial life—and if it finds something, sharing that information will be up to the Chinese government.
Ross Andersen’s feature in The Atlantic’s December issue goes through all of the reasons and the history influencing China’s rise as an alien-scouting superpower. A few factors cited include the country’s heavy investment in scientific research, especially since the 1980s.
In 2016, China finished building the biggest radio telescope of its kind, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST). In August, the government was offering a $1.9 million grant to whoever takes the job as the site's chief director of scientific operation.
Like a regular radio, radio telescopes work because they scan for electromagnetic energy. Unlike a regular radio, which looks for energy sources from nearby stations on Earth, a radio telescope looks for signals coming from space. There are reasons other than aliens to look for radio signals from space; planets and stars can also emit radio signals. The signals from far-off celestial bodies are so, so tiny—but they’re there.
China’s 13th five-year plan, which was adopted in March 2016 and will be in effect until 2020, includes increasing spending on research and development to $1.2 trillion—at least 2.5 percent of the gross domestic product, according to a U.S. federal government analysis. Deep space exploration is one of the priorities for scientific spending, Science reported.
And this latest radio observatory isn’t going to be China’s last. The country plans to put one on the dark side of the moon, Andersen reported.
The U.S. used to have its own federally-funded SETI program. Some efforts even used the Arecibo telescope, based in Puerto Rico—which was largest radio telescope in the world until the FAST dish came online. (Incidentally, the Arecibo telescope sustained minor damage during Hurricane Maria.)
The Arecibo Observatory is seen after it was hit by Hurricane Maria on September 29, 2017 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico experienced widespread damage including most of the electrical, gas and water grid as well as agriculture after Hurricane Maria, a category 4 hurricane, passed through.
JOE RAEDLE/GETTY IMAGES
There are nongovernmental efforts to find life, too. The University of California, Berkeley has a SETI@home program that allows individuals to “donate” their computing power to scientists analyzing data from telescopes to look for life.
There are also people who are working on what to say if we ever do find ourselves in the position to say something to an alien. An organization called METI—Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence—has brought together experts to figure out what the best thing to say would be. “Recognizing the profound implications of making contact with an extraterrestrial civilization, prior to transmission METI International will engage in broad consultation with experts from the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and other fields to encourage a responsible approach to sending messages,” the organization’s website states.
Though some messages have already been sent, Andersen notes in his piece that whether humanity should be DMing aliens at all is still controversial. But even with the FAST dish scanning, groups like METI still have time—no aliens so far.

BOISE, Idaho (WKRC) - A couple from Boise, Idaho designed a chicken coop that looks like a UFO.
They even installed flashing lights on the climate-controlled coop.
They say they did it to demonstrate their love for the extraterrestrial.
Ellen Deangelis said, "We kind of brainstormed how we were going to build that classic shape and the first discussion was out of wood but we really wanted something a little more curvy and we decided the satellite dishes were going to be perfect for what we needed."
‘Dinner Party’ relives an interracial couple’s alien abduction in VR
‘Dinner Party’ relives an interracial couple’s alien abduction in VR
Engadget presents a virtual reality thriller from the outer limits.
On the night of September 19th, 1961, Barney and Betty Hill were the victims of the first widely publicized alien abduction in US history. The Hills, an interracial couple active in the civil-rights movement, were on their way home from a trip to Niagara Falls when they noticed an unusual light in the sky. Shaken by the erratic behavior of the UFO, they headed in the direction of the closest town but never made it.
Dinner Party was made possible through funding from the EngadgetAlternate Realities grant program, established in May 2017. It will debut, along with four other prize-winning immersive-media projects, at the Engadget Experience on November 14th, 2017. For more information about the Engadget Experience, the grant program and the grantees visit our events page, and click here to buy your ticket to the event before they run out.
Somewhere along the way, they turned off the road, where they encountered a fiery orb, but they couldn't quite recall what happened next. For months after, they were stalked by an unnerving feeling, but it wasn't until they underwent hypnosis that the two recovered the detailed and disparate memories of their abduction.
The Zeta Reticuli incident, as it came to be known, is the subject of books, TV shows, federal investigations, conspiracy theories and cable-TV specials. There are seemingly countless ways to consume the Hills' abduction. Now Laura Wexler wants you to experience it. Wexler, a writer and producer whose works include a book about the last mass lynching in the United States, came across the Hills' abduction while researching another project with her writing partner, Charlotte Stoudt, whose writing and producing credits include House of Cards and Homeland. The two were immediately drawn to the story not only for its supernatural appeal but also because of the real-world parallels with racial tensions in the United States today.
"These were two people taken from the same car, as they reported, and had really different experiences," Wexler said. "One, a white woman; one, a black man -- and to me, that was an opportunity to explore a racial dynamic. Not just a UFO story, though UFO stories are great, but to explore to what degree race and race in America, in particular, affected the experiences they reported as these UFO abductees."
Wexler says the story was the perfect fit for virtual reality, which has been repeatedly referred to as the empathy machine for its ability to put the user in another's shoes. In its current form, Dinner Party is a two-part VR experience. In the opening scene, the audience is transported to the Hills' home. The couple entertains guests and prepares the dining room table for dinner until Betty interrupts the festivities with a surprise. She's decided to play the couple's hypnosis tapes for the first time. From there, the viewer is transported to the car on the night of the abduction and experiences the alien encounter as the Hills recalled it.
The Hills' story is the first experience in a series called The Incident, which Wexler and Stoudt hope will become the Twilight Zone of the VR era. It's an ambitious project with the support of some influential virtual-reality players behind it. The pair developed the concept earlier this summer at the Sundance New Frontier Lab, a weeklong workshop for artists and storytellers who embrace new technologies. There they met Saschka Unseld, the co-founder of Oculus Story Studio and celebrated director of Dear Anjelica, who would become a consultant on the project.
New Frontier then led to a fellowship at Technicolor Experience Center(yes, that Technicolor), which provided the two with access to visual-effects experts and tools that would have otherwise been out of reach. RYOT* Studio's Angel Soto, director of the critically acclaimed VR short Bashir's Dream, was already on board. Skybound, the company behind The Walking Dead, joined as a production partner and Telexist, co-founded by director of photography Sam Gezari, signed on as the show's VR producer.
The moment I stepped on set, I was struck by the sheer scale of the project. There were so many people on set, it was hard to tell what half of them did. There were script supervisors and caterers, gaffers and gofers, art directors, set designers and lighting techs. There were craft services and a makeshift dressing room. There was even a row of directors chairs occupied by a small group of people who looked like they just rolled out of a sound bath in Joshua Tree and a guy with a booming voice whose sole occupation seemed to be shouting down their gossip.
The point is, there's nothing small about this production -- that is, except for the camera. For its relative scale, the nine-lens shooter has an outsize role in Dinner Party. On the day we visited set, a 30-foot techno-crane filled the middle of the soundstage. The 360-degree camera, a Z Cam v1 Pro, affixed to the end of the crane floated above a modestly set dining room table. The arrangement was necessary to facilitate a carefully orchestrated four-minute continuous shot, in which the camera (and thus the viewer) seems to take on a life of its own.
"A lot of times in VR you're giving the camera either sort of a bird's-eye perspective or a fly on the wall," Gezari said. "There's a voyeuristic element to that, and if you introduce something like body presence, you're going to have explain why that's there. This was a case where we wanted to free ourselves up from that a little bit -- tie the camera movement into overarching narrative and create something that hasn't been done very often."
The use of camera movement and a single continuous shot not only broke with established 360-degree cinema techniques but answered a question that Wexler and Stoudt encountered repeatedly during their time at the New Frontier Labs: Who is the camera?
"It was very organic. It wasn't done on purpose, and I think that was the beauty of it," Soto said. "You are this omnipresent being that's there all the time, tormenting them, following them, studying them, like God."

UFO and Alien Landing on earth, claims scientist
UFO and Alien Landing on earth, claims scientist
UFO and Alien Landing on earth, claims scientist
A scientist claims to have proved an alien spacecraft landed on earth, after investigating a perplexing case for nearly 40 years.
Dr Erol Faruk has published the findings of his investigation into a substance left on the ground after a famous UFO sighting in a book which has concluded extraterrestrial activity is the only explanation.
In self-published work, The Compelling Scientific Evidence for UFOs, the British-born chemist of Turkish heritage, examined in detail the Delphos UFO case seen in Kansas, USA, on the evening of November 2 1971.
It is considered by some alien investigators as one of the most compelling UFO cases on record – due to the scorched ring left in the ground – allegedly when the UFO landed.
The witness was Ron Johnson, 16, who was tending sheep on his family’s farm with dog Snowball, at about 7pm, when he spotted a six to eight feet diameter mushroom-shaped UFO appearing in the night sky.
It was described as having multi-coloured lights, and hovering about 75 feet away among trees at just a few feet above ground.
It then ascended with a blinding light.
He alerted his parents who saw it disappearing from view.
But, the family found a glowing ring on the ground where it had landed, and a similar material on trees nearby.
The family said the glow “felt strange, like a slick crust, as if the soil was crystallised,” and Mrs Johnson was left with a numbing anaesthetic sensation on her hand after touching it.
Samples of soil, which was said to have a profound water repellant nature from within the ring were sent for analysis and stored in a number of laboratories.
Another witness also came forward, a Lester Ensbarger from Minneapolis, who advised Deputy Sheriff Leonard Simpson that at 7.30 pm the same night, he saw a bright light descending in the sky in Delphos.
According to website ufocasebook.com: “The experience of Ron Johnson is still considered as one of the best documented ‘ground trace’ UFO cases of the past century, and is still unexplainable by any conventional or earthly means.”
Dr Faruk, who admits to a lifelong interest in the UFO phenomenon, focussed his work on investigating the chemical make up of the soil from the ring.
He was able to obtain some of the stored solid after requesting it while based at Nottingham University.
He wrote: “Placing water onto the affected soil was very like placing it onto a glass surface, with the water spontaneously forming into droplets sitting on the surface.”
Although, he remained unable to fully identify the soil compound, he claimed to detect “a highly water-soluble organic compound which is potentially chemiluminescent”.
This could have been responsible for the alleged glow seen at the time, he said.
Dr Faruk concluded there were three possible explanations – a hoax, the ring was in fact a fairy ring – a natuarlly occurring ring of toadstools, or a genuine alien space ship had been seen.
He said a hoax was unlikely due to the unusual characteristics of the compound, and its elongation towards the wind direction on the night.
He also ruled out a fungal ring, claiming the “water-soluble alkali metal salt of an organic carboxylic acid” found in the compound would not be produced by a fungi.
This, he said meant the conclusion of a genuine UFO sighting was the most favourable.
He wrote: “A picture begins to emerge as to what possibly happened that evening.
“The hovering object of presently unknown origin appears to have contained within its periphery an aqueous solution of an unstable compound whose likely sole function would be light emission.
WATCH: Eerie lights flying in formation in the sky raise UFO fears
WATCH: Eerie lights flying in formation in the sky raise UFO fears
Village residents in south-west Ukraine were baffled and left fearing an alien invasion when strange lights appeared in the sky.
The bizarre spots raised UFO suspicions among locals in the village of Novogradovka in Odessa Oblast in south-western Ukraine.
Seven lights appeared in the sky, seemingly in the shape of an airplane, staying in one formation as if linked.
One social media user likened the flying shapes to a “variation of the Starfleet insignia” used in the Star Trek TV shows and films.
The footage of the eerie incident was posted online by Ivan Rusev, who claimed that the objects appeared “out of the blue” at a “significant height” and stayed visible for around 12-15 minutes.
It has since been reported the lights were targets for Ukrainian marines to train with, though there were no details released about what they were made of.
However, some can be seen in the clip dropping from the sky as if hit.
An army spokesman came out to assure residents there was no reason for any concern. The lights were in fact targets used by Ukrainian Marines during a military drill.
This did not convince social media users who lined up to share their views.
“Those UFOs came to claim what it theirs,” commented Odesitk while another user named ‘Iorka 76’ added: “Those usually appear when something is about to happen.”
Another onlooker ‘Aleksander Nikitinskiy’ added: “This looks like a formation of large fireballs at high altitude. The question is why do those appear now? What triggers those and why we did not see those before?”
Residents of a small village in China were left stunned by a glowing, ring-shaped UFO that mysteriously hovered in the sky for over 10 minutes before disappearing.
The cloud took on the appearance of a burning flame and reportedly lasted for at least 10 minutes.
Authorities have yet to explain what caused the mysterious glowing white ring in the sky.
However, despite the UFO whisperings of the citizens of Shangrao, similar rings have been spotted over Russia, the UK and the USA.
Here's a clip of a black ring floating over Kazakhstan in 2015:
Scientists identified these wisps as smoke vortices. Their cause is also understood as the result of a blast through a circular venting structure like a flue or pipe, and can be created intentionally or otherwise.
You can see that happening in the following video, recorded in the Nevada desert during the 2008 Burning Man festival:
The orange ring over Shangrao wasn't the first UFO over China to spark global attention; the presence of an unidentified object over inner Mongolia in July 2010 reportedly resulted in the brief shutdown of Xiaoshan Airport. Officials eventually explained this was a military test.
And perhaps, most famously, a city was seen by several onlookers over Yueyang, China, in January 2017:
As incredible as this may seem, it too has a very explainable cause. An illusion known as Fata Morgana, refracted light rays—usually fuzzy when seen close to the ground—can be clearer when poised in the sky; upturns in temperature in the upper atmosphere, usually over bodies of water, are considered the reason behind such illusions.
Atmospheric illusions can also lead to some flat-out weird visions as well, like this video taken on Lake Superior, MI in 2015:
What is this silvery looking UFO caught on camera floating over Gloucestershire in the middle of the night?
That’s what the residents of Newent are asking after seeing the silver oval object flashing as it floated in the distance towards Gloucester.
Another silvery UFO caught on camera floating over Gloucestershire - Gloucestershire Live
This is the second time this year that strange-looking lights have been floating over the cathedral city.
Jo Humphrey caught the unidentified flying object on camera on Monday night and thought it might have been the space station.
But that theory was discounted by somebody who came forward on social media and others have suggested it was Venus or Mars.
Jo told GloucestershireLive that she is still baffled and wants to know if anybody in Gloucester has seen it or has any ideas about what it might be.
“I was in bed watching a DVD and it caught the corner of my eye,” said Jo who is not suggesting it is inhabited by little green men.
“I took no notice to start with then thought I'd record it on my phone. It didn’t move but I was leaning out of my window to record it, hence all the moving on the video.
“I watched it for about five minutes then got back into bed. To the naked eye it was really bright silver and oblongish,
“I was really surprised looking at the video that it was round and had different colours. It looked as if it was stationary but it did start moving upwards in a straight line. I've no idea what it is and wondered if it was a space station or a Chinese lantern.”
She said it was highish in the sky but lower than stars and she could not see the shape or colours with the naked eye.
Because she has a south facing garden she guesses it was towards Gloucester about 1am on Tuesday morning.
But Conor Nolan wrote back saying: “The space station wasn't visible until about 4am on Tuesday.”
It's not the first time the weird rotating ball has been filmed in the skies above Gloucestershire and back in July GloucestershireLive wrote a story based on the mystery.

Faster! Black Hole's 'Acceleration Zone' Launches High-Speed Jets
Faster! Black Hole's 'Acceleration Zone' Launches High-Speed Jets
By Elizabeth Howell, Space.com Contributor
New observations of black holes have revealed an "acceleration zone" that ejects jets of material from around the singularity. Astronomers say that in this zone, the hot gas inside the jet becomes energized enough to strongly radiate light, creating two lines of bright light along the black hole's axis of rotation.
While black holes trap much of the material that falls in toward them, some of that material orbits the singularity in a whirling accretion disk. That whirling action can generate powerful plasma jets that blast outward, and now researchers have pinpointed exactly how far the particles in the jets travel before they light up with radiation. While the distance varies depending on the size of the black hole, astronomers have named this area the "acceleration zone" — an area that was not well-understood before the new observations, NASA officials said in a statement.
The participating observatories were NASA's NuSTAR space telescope and the Ultracam camera on the William Herschel Observatory in La Palma, Spain, which had to coordinate observations quickly and simultaneously during outbursts to accomplish the work. The results were detailed in the journal Nature Astronomy on Oct. 30, with lead author Poshak Gandhi, an astronomer at the United Kingdom's University of Southampton. [How NASA's NuSTAR Spacecraft Hunts Black Holes (Infographic)]
The telescopes examined two black hole systems in the Milky Way in which a black hole is tearing material off of a normal star; this kind of system is called an X-ray binary. The systems were named V404 Cygni and GX 339-4. The observations included different periods in which the material that orbits the black hole, called the accretion disk, brightens as material is added to it.
Both systems had a time delay of about one-tenth of a second between when NuSTAR saw a flare in X-ray light and when Ultracam detected the same phenomena in visible light. This is the length of time it took for the jets to "turn on" as visible light sources.
According to the researchers, the X-rays might come from material that was closest to the black hole, where magnetic fields accelerate some of the stuff to high speed. Particles then smash into each other at close to the speed of light, energizing the plasma that blasts out into jets and causing it to visibly glow.
"Where in the jet does this occur? The measured delay between optical and X-ray light explains this," NASA officials said in the statement. "By multiplying this amount of time by the speed of the particles, which is nearly the speed of light, scientists determine the maximum distance traveled."
That distance was about 19,000 miles (30,000 kilometers) — just under three times Earth's diameter, according to the statement — before the plasma was energized enough to light up.
The researchers said there is a connection between this measurement and the way even larger, supermassive black holes are understood to work; in one system, called BL Lacertae (200 million times the mass of the sun), astronomers inferred a time delay millions of times greater than for V404 Cygni and GX 339-4. This means the mass of the black hole likely determines the size of the acceleration zone. But more observations of X-ray binaries are planned to confirm the results.
"Astronomers hope to refine models for jet powering mechanisms using the results of this study," Daniel Stern, study co-author and astronomer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, said in the statement.
A new video by visual artist Teun van der Zalm takes viewers on an intimate tour of computer-simulated nebulas — enormous cosmic clouds gas and dust.
The Hubble Space Telescope gave humanity its very first up-close-views of cosmic nebulas, where dying stars explode and spread their ashes across space. From that ejected material, new stars are born.
As unforgettable as those Hubble images are, the telescope could never provide the kind of views offered by the new video, called "Nebulae." The use of a computer simulation allows for a much closer look at these colorful cosmic clouds.
In the short movie, the "camera" appears to move around and through enormous clouds, which are rich with colors, from deep purples to fiery reds. Tranquil music allows the viewer to sit back and bask in the beauty. (It's worth noting that many of the nebulas imaged by Hubble would appear quite different to a human who traveled to see them up close. These objects are frequently too faint to be seen with the naked eye, or they emit light in wavelengths that the human eye cannot see.)
In the movie's description on the website Vimeo, the creator quotes astronomer and science popularizer Carl Sagan from the first episode of the TV show "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage," which Sagan hosted: "A cloud that veils one of nature's secret places. This is a stellar nursery, a place where stars are born. They condense by gravity from gas and dust until their temperatures become so high that they begin to shine. Such clouds mark the births of stars, as others bear witness to their deaths."
While the simulated nebulas clearly have a lot in common with the real-world nebulas photographed by Hubble, it's not clear how scientifically accurate the simulations are. But, as the video's subtitle indicates, the short movie works perfectly as a "cosmic meditation."
Declassified images show countless nuclear bombs were detonated in Earth’s atmosphere
Declassified images show countless nuclear bombs were detonated in Earth’s atmosphere
One of the most cited and least-interpreted quotations from the history of the atomic age is what J. Robert Oppenheimer claimed to have thought when he witnessed the world’s first nuclear explosion: “I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.”
Shortly after Oppenheimer, director of the laboratory that developed the atomic bomb, saw the fireball glowing over the New Mexico desert at the Trinity test site on 16 July 1945, those words derived from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad-Gita came to his mind.
The quotation appears throughout the literature on nuclear weapons, often in a slightly different form: “I am become Death, the shatterer of worlds.”
Video PlayerFrom around 1945 until 1962, the United States of America performed around 210 atmospheric nuclear tests. Yup. Right above our heads.
Above-ground nuke testing was banned in 1963, but thousands of films from those destructive tests that have remained rotting-away in secret vaults around the country.
However, as times change and as classified material becomes declassified, we now have access to a huge amount of video footage and images.
What we are looking at is destruction at its best. Such force sends chills down your spine, and watching these videos and images makes me wonder just why we waste our human intellect producing weapons of mass destruction, and not technologies that would allow us to travel the stars.
Just imagine where we would be today as a civilization if all of the countries in the world spent more time developing future technologies for space explorations, rather than weapons to kill each other?
What you are about to see in these images is not an art exhibition, it is an exhibition of war, an exhibition of terror, an exhibition of destruction embedded deep inside humanity.
When have we gone astray, to the point that we produce destruction instead of development?
These macabre images, which will definitely give you goosebumps, were recently declassified, and show a number of atmospheric nuclear tests performed by the US in the 60’s.
The day we decided to test nuclear weapons in the atmosphere marked a tragic day for our planet, but also for mankind.
The military wanted to determine whether or not it was possible to shoot a nuclear missile from the sky.
The tests could not determine the goal because of the extreme difficulty in actually making a nuke go off in the sky at that time.
However, what these images Do confirm is that more than half a century ago mankind was already capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to the atmosphere.
We hope that these photos will make us reflect and question this type of practice.
Given the current tension between North Korea and the US, these photographs could make us see a dark future that—I think we all agree—no one wishes to witness.

The mystery continues: Russian scientists disprove the myth of the “Tunguska meteor”
The Tunguska explosion was a very high-powered aerial explosion that occurred near the Podkamennaya River in Tunguska (Evenkia, Siberia, Russia) at 7:17 on June 30, 1908. The detonation, similar to that of a high-powered thermonuclear weapon, has been attributed to a comet or an asteroid. However, researchers now say it was not the case.
The survivors of the area affected by the explosion described it as a giant mushroom that was rising through the air. The animals fled, and the tents of the tunguses located more than 50 km away flew through the air.
NIKOLA TESLA-TUNGUSKA 1908
Until this day, no one has been able to explain as to what exactly exploded over Russia.
The Tunguska phenomenon eventually produced more than 30 hypotheses and theories about what happened.
The detonation, similar to that of a high-powered thermonuclear weapon, has been attributed to a comet or an asteroid.
Because no fragment has ever been recovered is believed that what exploded over Russia was a comet made of ICE.
As it did not reach Earth’s surface, no crater or astrobleme was produced.
However, 108 years later, the phenomenon of the Tunguska meteorite remains a mystery.
Until now it was maintained that the explosion of a meteor near the Podkámennaya River, in Siberia, was what eventually formed Lake Cheko.
However, Russian scientists proved that this lake could not be a crater since it is at least 280 years old.
Trees burned and knocked down as a result of the Tunguska event.
The Tunguska explosion devastated an area of 2,150 square kilometers of forest, broke windows and knocked down people who were within a radius of 400 kilometers away from the impact zone.
In the following days, the inhabitants of Europe witnessed a series of strange phenomena, such as luminous clouds, colorful sunsets and unusual lights at night.
The European media then claimed that it was either a UFO incident or a volcanic eruption.
However, political events in imperial Russia prevented further investigation of this strange phenomenon.
19 years later, an expedition led by Russian scientist Leonid Kulik arrived in Tunguska to examine the site of the explosion.
However, the researchers failed to discover any traces of the meteorites.
Kulik explained that this was because the extraterrestrial matter burned completely when entering the atmosphere.
Much later, in 2007, a scientific team from the University of Bologna (Italy), led by Luca Gasperini, proposed a theory according to which Lake Cheko was the supposed crater left by the Tunguska meteorite due to its unusual shape and depth.
Gasperini claimed that the existence of this lake was unknown before 1908.
However, in July 2016, a team of scientists from Siberia managed to figure out the exact age of Lake Cheko and stated that, because the Tunguska region was practically not on the maps before the 20th century, the lake could exist before the Tunguska event.
To determine the age of the lake through biochemical analyzes, samples of the bottom were taken.
Recently, colleagues from the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy of the Siberian delegation of the Russian Academy of Sciences have completed the radioscopic analysis of the samples obtained, according to a report published on the website of the Russian Geographical Society.
According to the results of the analysis, the lake is at least 280 years old, which shows that the Cheko is much older than the Tunguska event.
The results of this study were published in a specialized scientific journal on July 30, 2017, said in an interview with Sputnik, Denis Rogozin, a researcher at the Siberian delegation of the Academy of Sciences.
With this new discovery, Russian scientists have disproved the international community’s last hope to clarify the circumstances surrounding the strange explosion that shuck Tunguska and everything else in a 400-kilometer radius—one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in history.
The Eye of the Sahara has been hiding for millennia in plain sight. This was due to the fact that the mysterious geological formation, despite it being huge, is very difficult to spot when on the ground level.
It was only when NASA began to send people into space that the bulls-eye among the sand was discovered for the first time. Even now scientists are still wondering about it and still have questions.
EYE OF THE SAHARA IS AROUND 25 MILES ACROSS
The Eye of the Sahara was formally known as the Richat structure, and it is situated in the Mauritania in the Western Sahara Desert. The formation is around 25 miles across. The Gemini IV mission took a four-day orbit around the Earth and when it was being readied in 1965 astronauts were told to take some photographs of the terrain of the Earth. They were asked to keep an eye out for large circular features that might be the impact structures roots, according to the text that came with some photographs that had been published from the mission.
Impact craters are very important in geological terms as they tell people about the Earth’s history. They also reveal to scientists how many times space rocks have come crashing onto the planet and this is then able to help scientists to predict what might happen in the future. For quite some time the scientists believed that the Eye of the Sahara was, in fact, an impact crater. However, one thing was missing from the theory; there was not enough melted rock. Now more current theories have suggested that there is a story that is much more complicated behind the natural formation.
SCIENTISTS BELIEVE EYE COULD HAVE FORMED 100 MILLION YEARS AGO
It is believed that the Eyes main ring structure could be the eroded remains of what might have been a dome of layers of the crust of the Earth. While scientists still have many questions about the structure, two geologists from Canada have come up with a working theory about how the Eye may have come about.
They said that the formation of the Eye might have started over 100 million years ago when Pangaea, the supercontinent, was torn apart by the plate tectonics along with South America and Africa being torn away from each other. They say that the molten rock that pushed upwards toward the Earth’s surface perhaps did not make it all the way and this could have created rock layers in a dome, much like a large pimple on the surface of the skin. This may then have created fault lines that circled and crossed the Eye. The molten rock would also have dissolved limestone close to the middle of the Eye and this would have then collapsed and would have formed a type of rock called breccia.
Shortly after 100 million years, the Eye would have erupted in a violent fashion, and the bubble would have collapsed partway, while erosion would have done the rest and thus created the Eye of the Sahara. The rings of the structure would have been made from rocks of different types that would have eroded at speeds that differed over time. The much paler of the circles close to the middle of the Eye is the volcanic rock that would have been created by the explosion.
ASTRONAUTS USE THE EYE AS A KEY LANDMARK
Astronauts are very fond of the Eye as a lot of the Sahara Desert is nothing more than a sea of sand that is unbroken. The Eye is just one of very few breaks in the sand, and it does away with the monotony, and for astronauts, it has now become one of the key landmarks.
There are some people who think that the Eye of the Sahara might be the remains of the city of Atlantis as Plato was said to have described it as being concentric rings of land and water.
Are you tired of seeing that same old video supposedly taken of an alien autopsy after the Roswell ‘crash’ that is admittedly fake and may be a recreation of another fake? It’s time to pay a visit to the “Dark Web” where a different video is making the rounds this week with claims it is of an alien examination in Switzerland in 1992. Is this the real deal?
The video was uploaded on November 6 to the non-dark web by the UFO Today YouTube channel. (A safe link to the video is here.) It’s not clear if they added anything more to the posted video than their logo at the beginning and end. After the logo, it opens with the comment “I found this footage on a server on the dark web.” Again, it’s not clear if this and other comments were on the original ‘dark web’ video or added by the uploader.
The next comment is: “It did not contain any references other EBE 1992, Eiger.” The significance of this is either a coincidence or a hoax indicator. “EBE” is short for “extraterrestrial biological entity” and is also the name of the 17th episode of the first season of “The X-Files,” probably one of the most remembered because it introduced The Lone Gunmen. “Eiger” most likely refers to the Eiger mountain in the Burmese Alps. Its north face is one of the most photographed sights of the Swiss Alps and one of the most challenging for climbers. There don’t appear to be any records of UFO sightings in this are. However, “1992” was a big year for the Eiger — Catherine Destivelle became the first woman to complete a solo ascent of the north face, reaching the top in 17 hours … in winter! Significant but seemingly not related to this video.
Eiger mountain north face
The content of the video itself is a drawing of what looks like an alien’s head and photographs of humans in a cold environment standing around what looks like a small, naked being with long thin arms, a large head and wide almond-shaped eyes – the classic grey alien look. The quality is grainy but visible. However, there’s not much to aid in identifying the location, who the people are, what organization if any they might be working for and if it’s really 1992 in Eiger.
With the recent revelations about the recreation of the Roswell video, this one must be examined with a great degree of skepticism until more information, if any exists, is found. One thought is that it’s a human child, although the head, eyes and arms suggest otherwise. One angle at 0:36 in the video shows the being’s hands and they look like they may only have three long fingers … could this be another of the 3-fingered mummiescausing so much controversy in Peru?
For now, the needle on this video is pointing close to “hoax” but new data, more images, UFO records from 1992 and the like could move it to the right. Especially if it’s connected to the Lone Gunmen!

Teleportation-Voodoo Rituals: Patient who suddenly disappeared was found dead in the hospital's ceiling!
Teleportation-Voodoo Rituals: Patient who suddenly disappeared was found dead in the hospital's ceiling!
A mystery that cannot be explained is being looked into at the Stellenbosch Hospital in South Africa where a 61-year-old patient mysteriously disappeared. Almost two weeks later they discovered the body in the hospital’s ceiling of an isolated area of the Stellenbosch Hospital.
Father of six, Teteteke Gqotsi was admitted to the hospital on October 5 after he underwent abdominal surgery where the staff said he would make a recovery.
On that day, October 5, a nurse entered the room and Mr. Gqotsi was safely in his bed, moreover it was said that he was not be able to move from the bed.
Then the mystery begins, within one minute the nurse left the room to fetch clean linen for the beds and when she came back into the room Mr. Gqutsi had disappeared from the bed in which he had been laying.
The police who investigate this mysterious case along with the hospital’s staff remain baffled as to how he disappeared from his bed and ended up dead in the hospital’s ceiling as he was said to be in a post-operative state.
Since it seems impossible that a man so soon after surgery and with no possibility to got out of his bed, managed to climb up into the ceiling in the very short period the nurse left the room.
Now there is much speculation that Mr. Gqotsi was a victim of a secret teleport experience that gone wrong, though a teleportation does not seem very plausible.
Another possibility is that he has become the victim of Voodoo rituals.
Voodoo refers to a whole assortment of cultural elements: personal creeds and practices, including an elaborate system of folk medical practices and possessing the bodies of their worshipers.
According to the 61-year-old’s family, following their meeting with the hospital's management Gqotsi’s brother, Christmas Khethwane, said the hospital failed to give the family a proper explanation on which they have concluded that foul play has occurred, reports iol.co.za.
Meanwhile it remains a mystery how he ended up in the hospital’s ceiling.
