French UFO Researcher Christian Mace Finds Alien Artifacts Almost Destroyed By Mars NASA Rover! Oct 2018, UFO Sighting News.
Date of discovery: Oct 2018 Location of discovery: Mars Source:
Now these artifacts were found by a close friend of mine and UFO researcher Christian Mace in France. He was looking over a Gigapan Mars Spirit rover photo and found many alien artifacts in high detail. He's got a good eye for finding these things and is one of Frances leading UFO researchers. The things he found will blow you away. Its hard to believe that the rover almost ran over two of the alien faces we see in this photo. Are they there to learn and explore, or are they there to Scott C. Waring Please visit my friend Christian Maces' UFO site by clicking here.
Often I say that storms, lightning, tornadoes and even earthquakes are sometimes caused by alien craft. Here we have proof that the hurricane was created by aliens too. Greys to be exact...were the species that did it. It was a Tweet from Jim Dickey a Morning Meteorologist for ABC7 WZVN Ft. Myers, FL that first noticed the face. Then it spread from there. He caught this and and told the world about it getting loads of attention. Aliens control our planet and in more ways than I can say. They were here long before us, and they will be here long after us. Scott C. Waring
On a day when NASA, Roscosmos and the rest of the world breathed a collective sigh of relief as a Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft and its crew returned safely to Earth after an aborted launch, news emerges of a leading Russian astronomer who believes we are not alone in the universe. How soon can one of these civilizations get here with a replacement?
“I admit the existence of extraterrestrial intelligent civilizations.”
Dmitry Bisikalo is the director of the Astronomy Institute at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow and a specialist in the gas dynamics of interacting binary stars and accretion disks. How does this qualify him to proclaim that aliens exist? It doesn’t, but his research includes studying the components of a star’s gases and those of any exoplanets around them. As he told Sputnik News, those gases – especially oxygen, ozone and methane – are biological markers that can be indicators of civilizations making things and polluting their atmospheres just like we do.
“It is important to note that many biomarkers appear in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum, which will be studied by the Spektr-UF space observatory, which will be launched into orbit in 2024.”
Spoken like a true bureaucratic astronomer making sure he has a job in a few years by plugging the Spektr-UV or World Space Observatory-Ultraviolet (WSO-UV) — a proposed joint (Russia, Spain, Germany, Ukraine and Kazakhstan) space telescope that has been planned since 2007 and needed well before 2024 with the gyroscope problems currently being experienced by the Hubble space telescope. While waiting for the launch, Bisikalo is also generating interest in both astronomy and space travel with comments like his recent one.
“After all, if our civilization exists, by analogy there may be others, and probably many of them.”
Bisikalo is channeling American astronomer Frank Drake and his famous equation putting the probability of the existence of alien civilizations at ‘high’. Unfortunately, like Drake, Bisikalo is dealing in possibilities, not proofs, and he brings in his own theory as to why we haven’t seen any extraterrestrials yet.
“[They] do not want to contact.”
Of course they don’t. We’re big polluters just like themselves and are on our way to destroying our planet, just as they may have. All they need to do is sit quietly and wait.
“For example, until the beginning of the twentieth century, our civilization did not radiate anything. Now the Earth is full of electronic signals at different intervals, but the general tendency is to reduce losses and consequently decrease signal level.”
“Decrease signal level.” In other words, die off. That may be what happens (spoiler alert) to all civilizations before they can change their ways or develop the technology to go somewhere else.
Based on the Soyuz incident today and the previous and still unsolved manmade hole found in the Soyuz capsule currently docked at the International Space Station, our signal level may be decreasing before we can leave too.
Bisikalo is still confident he and the rest of us will be around for the launch and usage of the Spektr-UV space telescope.
“Probably with the help of this infrared space telescope we will see something really interesting.”
Let’s hope it’s a starship delivering reliable space vehicles.
Oh boy, it’s been quite a run for Egyptian archaeology. We’ve had the big and spooky black sarcophagus, discoveries of new Sphinxes, pyramid energy focusing allegations, and now a discovery of a tomb built for a mysterious priest named Kaires who, according to the inscriptions on his statue, was the “sole friend of the king” and the “keeper of the secret of the Morning House.” Which king he’s referring to is unknown, just like everything else about this fellow despite his tomb’s insistence that he’s someone to know about.
The remains of the tomb were discovered near a pyramid in Abusir, Egypt. It was found in a small chapel that had been ransacked and looted some time in the distant past. Despite the looting, archaeologists found the statue of Kaires and his laundry list of important roles. Whether these were real titles or just egotistic boasts is unknown, however the tomb and chapel were found to have floors made of basalt, which was reserved only for the most important of people. Here’s the list of titles from a press release by the Czech Institute of Egyptology, and even they had to leave a few out for brevity’s sake:
Kaires was the sole friend (of the king), overseer of all king’s works, keeper of the secret of the Morning House, steward of the royal palace, foremost of the House of Life, inspector of the priests serving in the pyramid complexes of kings Sahure and Neferirkare, priest of the goddess Hathor, mistress of the sycamore, in Cusae (a city in southern Egypt), custodian of the two thrones (i.e. of southern and northern Egypt), as well as a holder of several other titles.
What remains of the entrance to an ancient Egyptian temple.
While Egytologists aren’t sure which pharaoh Kaires says he was the “sole friend” to, the tomb is near the pyramid built for the pharaoh Neferirkare who ruled from 2446 to 2438 BCE and that’s the pyramid Kaires was apparently the inspector of.
Now, as to the secret of Morning House and what “the foremost of the House of Life” could be, the archaeologists had this to say:
The Morning House was a specific location, where the king would come in the morning to eat breakfast and get dressed, whereas the House of Life was an institution, where Egyptians stored texts recorded on papyrus scrolls containing their knowledge and religious-philosophical treatises.
That’s right, he was the keeper of the secret of breakfast. Who knows, maybe that was an important secret to keep. What if the king was a picky eater? Maybe he only ate cream of wheat. That’s no kind of fit ruler. Perhaps society would have crumbled if the secret was ever let out.
But there’s also the matter of the House of Life, which seems far more important. Being the foremost of a massive library where all knowledge and religious writing was stored probably involved more secret keeping than being the breakfast wizard. There have been remarkably few papyrus scrolls discovered from this time period so we don’t know just what was in the House of Life, but it was likely on the extreme side of impressive.
Egyptian temple at Aswan
The ancients had a certain knack for pompous and egotistical titles that we’ve lost in the 21st century. Go around calling yourself the keeper of anything and likely all that will happen is a truck drives by and splashes you with mud while the driver hangs his head out of the and calls you a nerd. The problem with finding these sorts of titles in archaeological excavations is we don’t know whether or not these people were just old nerds. Now we dig up their tombs and we assume some dude’s made up titles have connotations of esoteric importance, which is exactly what he wanted us to think. We may never know how important this Kaires character was, but one thing has been true since time began: if you have to go around saying you’re the god-king’s only friend, maybe you’re just the breakfast wizard.

Record breaking number of new 'alien' fast radio bursts found: Australian study DOUBLES the number of mysterious signals spotted from Earth
Researchers discovered 19 signals believed to be emanating from deep space, which nearly doubles the total number of known fast radio bursts
Some of the blasts were the closest and brightest FRBs ever found, they said
It's still unclear what causes FRBs, but experts posit they may be coming from a giant cosmic object, such as a neutron star, or a new and far-flung alien race
The latest bursts were picked up by the Australia Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope, which is equipped with 36 dishes total
Researcher also proved the FRBs are coming from the other side of the universe
Australian researchers have discovered a record breaking number of brief but powerful bursts of radio waves emanating from deep space.
CSIRO radio telescopes in Western Australia detected 19 of the mysterious blasts, which nearly doubles the total number of known fast radio bursts (FRBs).
Among the 19 signals observed were some of the closest and brightest FRBs ever detected, researchers from the Swinburne University of Technology found.

CSIRO radio telescopes (shown in a rendering) in Western Australia detected 19 of the mysterious blasts, which nearly doubles the total number of known fast radio bursts (FRBs)
Fast radio bursts are elusive signals that last just a few milliseconds, and are thought to originate billions of light-years away – but, scientists don’t yet know what causes them.
They also generate an intense blast of energy - enough that it's almost equivalent to the amount released by the sun over the course of 80 years.
'We've found 20 fast radio bursts in a year, almost doubling the number detected worldwide since they were discovered in 2007,' Ryan Shannon, lead author of the study, said in a statement.
The scientists say they've also proved that the FRBs are coming from the other side of the universe, 'rather than from our own galactic neighborhood.'
FRBs typically travel for billions of years, occasionally passing through clouds of gas.
Scientists pay close attention to the arrival of the different wavelengths to learn how much material the burst has traveled through on its journey.
'Each time this happens, the different wavelengths that make up a burst are slowed by different amounts,' Jean-Pierre Macquart, a co-author of the study, noted.
'Eventually, the burst reaches Earth with its spread of wavelengths arriving at the telescope at slightly different times, like swimmers at a finish line.
Artist's impression of CSIRO's Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP) radio telescope observing 'fast radio bursts' in 'fly's eye mode'. Each antenna points in a slightly different direction, giving maximum sky coverage
'...And because we've shown that fast radio bursts come from far away, we can use them to detect all the missing matter located in the space between galaxies - which is a really exciting discovery.'
Scientists now know that FRBs come from about halfway across the universe, but it's remains unclear what causes them or which galaxies they come from.
Astronomers have previously suggested that the bursts could be coming from a giant cosmic object, such as a neutron star.
Others have even wilder theories that they may originate from a far-flung alien race that's yet to be discovered.

WHAT ARE FAST RADIO BURSTS AND WHY DO WE STUDY THEM?
Fast radio bursts, or FRBs, are radio emissions that appear temporarily and randomly, making them not only hard to find, but also hard to study.
The mystery stems from the fact it is not known what could produce such a short and sharp burst.
This has led some to speculate they could be anything from stars colliding to artificially created messages.
Scientists searching for fast radio bursts (FRBs) that some believe may be signals sent from aliens may be happening every second. The blue points in this artist's impression of the filamentary structure of galaxies are signals from FRBs
The first FRB was spotted, or rather 'heard' by radio telescopes, back in 2001 but wasn't discovered until 2007 when scientists were analysing archival data.
But it was so temporary and seemingly random that it took years for astronomers to agree it wasn't a glitch in one of the telescope's instruments.
Researchers from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics point out that FRBs can be used to study the structure and evolution of the universe whether or not their origin is fully understood.
A large population of faraway FRBs could act as probes of material across gigantic distances.
This intervening material blurs the signal from the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the left over radiation from the Big Bang.
A careful study of this intervening material should give an improved understanding of basic cosmic constituents, such as the relative amounts of ordinary matter, dark matter and dark energy, which affect how rapidly the universe is expanding.
FRBs can also be used to trace what broke down the 'fog' of hydrogen atoms that pervaded the early universe into free electrons and protons, when temperatures cooled down after the Big Bang.
The team from the Swinburne University of Technology is now focusing on pinpointing the locations of the bursts on the sky.
'We'll be able to localise the bursts to better than a thousandth of a degree,' Shannon said.
'That's about the width of a human hair seen ten metres away, and good enough to tie each burst to a particular galaxy.'
They added that the latest discovery of FRBs is largely due in part to the Australia Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope used to find them.
ASKAP's massive dish has spotted numerous FRBs over the years, earning it the nickname of Sauron, after the fictional dark overlord that's the 'all-seeing eye' of the Lord of the Rings series.
It's gotten so good at spotting FRBs that scientists say it could soon spot new FRBs every few days.

The instrument is equipped with 36 dishes in total, which can be used either to look at one point of the sky, or be pointed in different directions to like the segments of a fly’s eye, according to CSIRO.
Using eight dishes, the telescope can see 240 square degrees all at once.
'The telescope has a whopping field of view of 30 square degrees, 100 times larger than the full Moon,' said CSIRO's Keith Bannister, who engineered the systems that detected the bursts.
'And, by using the telescope's dish antennas in a radical way, with each pointing at a different part of the sky, we observed 240 square degrees all at once - about a thousand times the area of the full Moon.
'ASKAP is astoundingly good for this work,' Bannister added.

80 keer

"North Korea would use a nuke in anger, resulting in the loss of human life".
Let’s say you’re living on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean with a population far larger than the supply of available fresh drinking water, which is limited to rainwater. Let’s say you and your fellow islanders have adapted to drinking brackish, slightly-salty water that occasionally springs from the ground, but those springs and reservoirs are difficult to find. When you do find them, wouldn’t it be a good idea to leave a marker so you can locate it again … a marker big enough to see from remote spots on your island? Believe it or not, that’s the new theory being proposed as to why the people of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) built their huge iconic Moai statues. Does it hold water?
“The porous volcanic soils quickly absorb rain, resulting in a lack of streams and rivers.”
In a study published in Hydrogeology Journal and reported in Newsweek, Binghamton University (New York) Professor of Anthropology Carl Lipo explained the major problem prehistoric Easter islanders faced in trying to survive on Rapa Nui. With no rivers and just two small lakes located in extremely remote areas, one would expect that the first inhabitants would build cisterns or ponds to capture and retain rainwater. While a few small ones were found, they’re not sufficient to support the thousands of residents inhabiting the island at its peak.
While they lacked fresh water, they had brackish water, and the explorers who eventually visited the island saw the residents drinking it without suffering any ill effects. What the islanders also had was a volcano sloped to run any kind of water downhill to the coastal areas. That’s where Lipo and his team found evidence of discharge points where brackish water would have been collected in reservoirs or trenches. That’s where they also found the statues.
nowing the details of the island’s hydrology and understanding that fresh water was a key ingredient in monument location now allows us to start generating hypotheses about the role that statues/monuments played in the community … This may well help unravel the secret to why this island boasts so many massive statues.”
Lots of water holding points … lots of statues. While there is definitely a connection between them, the team isn’t sure if the statues were carved and hauled there as markers, offerings of thanks to some brackish water god or for some other reason. Whatever the case, the water points are symbols of how a large population not only survived but thrived for centuries, growing food and working together to quarry, carve, haul and position the enormous statues precisely at the sources of their success.
“What they did was an incredible feat—but one that has been misinterpreted by outsiders who make European assumptions about what the island ‘should look like.’”
Planet Earth is weird. Some of us might like to think of ourselves as separate from or somehow apart from the Earth, but the fact is we are the Earth. All living things are intertwined in the massive, complex chemical reaction that is planet Earth. Photosynthesis, respiration, decay – all of the various natural processes and reactions all stem from the fact that our home is one big ball of elements being pulled together by their own gravity. As our scientific instruments and techniques continue to improve, we’re beginning to discover that all things living and nonliving are much more interconnected than we think.
Case in point: a new paper published in the journal Current Opinion in Microbiology suggests that massive colonies of microorganisms floating high above us in the stratosphere might actually have a profound influence on the weather down here on the surface. Scientists have been uncovering evidence of this atmospheric bacteria for a few decades, but this study is the first to suggest that this ecosystem has an impact on weather.
The process, known as bioprecipitation, is fairly simple: ice crystals and droplets of water more condense more easily around the membranes of tiny microorganisms; thus, the more microorganisms in the sky, the more precipitation and cloud coverage there is. Understanding this process is difficult, as collecting specimens or even reaching this upper layer of the atmosphere is expensive and doing so without contaminating samples with terrestrial microbes is near-impossible.
Forget HAARP: these are the real weather manipulators.
Even more worrisome, this study suggests that this microbial layer of our atmosphere has the potential to spread diseases around the world – although some scientists think that claim might be far-fetched without more data to support it. Still, as the Earth’s climate continues to change in unexpected ways, understanding and identifying the role of these atmospheric bacteria becomes increasingly important.
This study adds to the growing body of research which suggests tiny microbes play much more important roles in nearly every biological or natural process than we realize. Human beings are basically all singing, all dancing colonies of microbes and our bacterial passengers have been found to exert a profound influence on all sorts of functions like metabolism, immune function, and even mental health. Might human beings merely be the giant exosuits of colonies of intelligent bacteria? It’s a neat thought.

Strange cloud releases bright orbs above Albuquerque, New Mexico
While taking her girls to school the mother noticed several balls of lights in the sky, so she started to record the strange event happened above Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The footage shows a huge cloud in a clear sky when suddenly several bright orbs appear, like they are coming out of the huge cloud, then another cloud being formed by these bright orbs which you can see on the right hand side of the huge cloud.
The following video from Secureteam shows the remarkable event in details (zoomed in) - The original video can be viewed here.

To me this looks like someone on the ground is trying to keep them in a line by remote control? It could be a few drones. That's our opinion here at USF. But still, we could be wrong? Until the Aliens come forward everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Our guess is that the objects are real (wait, keep reading) and the objects are definitely Unidentified Flying Objects - but with the surge of drones and the way that drones can be absolutely tricked out with LED's and other lightweight materials that a simple plus very inexpensive, a drone can get a city on lockdown in an instant. Maybe the reason why this kind of attention wasn't given to this particular "UFO encounter" makes me think that this is nothing more than a few drones with a few teenagers pranking everyone. Knowing that all they need to do is fly a few drones around the city from a concealed vantage point and participate in a few modest maneuvers and the next day they're on the internet on all the big sites like MUFON, and NUFORC's - and the rest as they say, is literally a history story? Or is it, it could be indeed Aliens but probably lost Aliens tapping on their GPS devices and sayings to on another like "hey dude", I think we should of took a left at Neptune brah!
I'm sorry but if it's too good to be true, then it's usually untrue. Don't get me wrong, UFO encounters are always going to be a little extraordinary but this is ridiculous. They're over a city, just high enough not to see them that well, just the lights and well, if it is Aliens then when they come forward and say "yep, it was us" as far as we're concerned it's a hoax and until then we are saying no to this.
UFO Sightings Footage opinion: Not a UFO. Drone or another type of manipulation at play or hoax.
Static glowing objects in the night sky. Ensenada, Baja Norte Mexico Shape:
Light -Duration: 18 minutes Ensenada, (Baja Norte)(Mexico) - 08-29-18 - Multi-witness sighting of multiple nearly static glowing objects in the night sky at the Pacific coastline on 08-29-2018.
Yesterday, evening at approximately 8:17 PM (PDT), I heard our neighbor loudly and urgently calling my wife’s name. When we went outside we were told to come up to the balcony and to hurry. After climbing the steps I could see the line of lights in the sky they were watching.
The line of lights were not in motion and I decided to grab my cell phone to shoot video of the event before it ended. With the phone in hand I quickly climbed the steps to the balcony and began shooting video. Facing west we could see approximately 20 glowing objects aligned north to south.
They were all nearly stationary with some small movement near the center of the line. A second pair of lights appeared above and to the right (north) of the formation and slowly descended near the formation. Shortly afterward, lights began to go off in place. It was only a minute or two before the lights appeared again in the same formation and location they appeared before.
I used the balcony rail to steady my shot but the vibrations of the balcony and movement up or down the staircase were causing vibrations to distort the video clarity. Being fully zoomed in to enhance the view exaggerated the vibrations.
I estimate the distance we stood from the formation of lights to be only 2 miles distant or less. The width of the formation was nearly a quarter mile. No sound could be heard but ambient highway sounds may have drowned out our ability to hear softer sounds.
I have seen videos of similar events and heard there had been a similar sighting near this area only four months earlier. I felt no sense of dread during the event. I noticed no particular pattern in the pulsations that seemed to affect each light simultaneously.
Almost all the event is captured on video between 4 separate clips and a couple of poor quality still shots that I have not posted anywhere online yet. Upon request, I will provide links to the videos captured for your analysis.
NUFORC Note:
Video link forwarded by witness indicates a row of approximately a dozen white lights that appear to be hovering above the surface of the ocean. Witness does not indicate the exact location of the witnesses at the time of the sighting.
Video of the Baja, Norte Mexico. This is a good UFO sighting but if it's real, well I'll leave that up to you to decide but I think this is a few drones with lights on them. The color of the lights give this away big time because they're man made lights. Sorry but they are and what are man made lights doing on a UFO, lol.
The universe has so many galaxies, stars, planets, and moons that many scientists believe intelligent aliens should exist within detectable range of Earth.
Hundreds of billions of galaxies drift through the visible universe, each one harboring hundreds of billions of stars, and each of those stars in turn shelters roughly a handful of planets. Even if the trillion-or-so planets in every galaxy aren’t habitable, countless water-rich moons orbiting these lifeless worlds might be.
And yet, in spite of these numbers, humans have yet to identify any signals from intelligent aliens. The prescient question that physicist Enrico Fermi posed in 1950 – “where is everybody?” – remains unanswered.
However, an upcoming study in The Astronomical Journal, which we learned about from MIT Technology Review, suggests humanity has barely sampled the skies, and thus has no grounds to be cynical.
According to the paper, all searches for extraterrestrial intelligence, or SETI, have examined barely a swimming pool’s worth of water from a figurative ocean of signal space.
“We haven’t really looked much,” Shubham Kanodia, a graduate student in astronomy who co-wrote the study, said during a NASA “technosignatures” workshop in Houston, Texas on September 26.
The study suggests that somewhere in that ocean of space – right now, within the Milky Way galaxy – intelligent aliens might be saying, “hello, we are here.”
But we’d have no way of knowing, at least not yet.
Defining a ‘cosmic haystack’ in the search for aliens

Over the past 60 years, multiple SETI projects have looked and continue to look for alien signals. Some scan large swaths of the sky for powerful signals, while others target individual star systems for weaker signals.
Yet aside from a few anomaly signals that never repeated (like the “Wow!” detection of 1977), these searches have turned up empty-handed.
Kanodia and his colleagues at Penn State University wanted to know how much of the figurative “cosmic haystack” SETI projects have covered, and to what extent they could improve the hunt for the alien “needle.”
The group agrees with famous SETI astronomer Jill Tarter, who said in 2010 that it’s silly to conclude intelligent aliens do not exist nearby just because we haven’t yet found their beacons. Even if such signals exist and are aimed right at Earth, her thinking goes, we’ve scanned so little of the sky and may not be looking for the right type of signal, or for long enough, to find them.
“Suppose I tell you there’s a cool thing happening in Houston right now,” Kanodia said during his NASA talk. “I do not tell you where it is. I do not tell you when it is happening. I do not tell you what it is. Is it in a book store? Is it a music concert? I give you absolutely no priors. It would be a difficult thing to try and find it.”
He added: “Houston, we have a problem. We do not know what we’re looking for … and we don’t know where to start.”

(SSC/Caltech)
In their study, Kanodia and his colleagues built a mathematical model of what they consider a reasonably sized cosmic haystack.
Their haystack is a sphere of space nearly 33,000 light-years in diameter, centered around Earth. This region captures part of Milky Way’s bustling core, as well as some giant globular clusters of stars above and below our home galaxy.
They also picked eight dimensions of a search for aliens – factors like signal transmission frequency, bandwidth, power, location, repetition, polarization, and modulation (i.e. complexity) – and defined reasonable limits for each one.
“This leads to a total 8D haystack volume of 6.4 × 10116 m5Hz2 s/W,” the authors wrote.
That is 6.4 followed by 115 zeros – as MIT Technology review described it, “a space of truly gargantuan proportions.”
How much of this haystack have we searched?
Foto: Instead of asking, “Where is everybody?” we should be asking, “Why are we barely looking?”

Kanodia and his colleagues then examined the past 60 years’ worth of SETI projects and reconciled them against their haystack.
The researchers determined that humanity’s collective search for extraterrestrials adds up to about 0.00000000000000058% of the haystack’s volume.
“This is about a bathtub of water in all of Earth’s oceans,” Kanodia said. “Or about a five-centimeter-by-five-centimeter patch of land on all of Earth’s surface area.”
Those numbers make humanity’s search efforts seem feeble. But Kanodia views it as an opportunity – especially because modern telescopes are getting better at scanning more objects with greater sensitivity and speed. For example, he said, a 150-minute search this year by the Murchison Widefield Array covered a larger percentage of the haystack than any other SETI project in history.
“That’s the purpose of this haystack … to help better-inform future search strategies,” Kanodia said.
He also noted that the team’s calculations assume there is only one alien civilization within range of Earth, and not any more than that. But more than one may exist relatively close by.
“In the ocean analogy, we do not have to drain the entire ocean to find a fish,” he said. “In the Houston analogy, if there were two cool things, you wouldn’t have to look as hard.”
Still, there’s no guarantee that a figurative fish or needle or cool thing is out there at all.
Another group of scientists, this one at Oxford University, recently took a different approach to the question of aliens. Instead of focusing on the likelihood of finding “technosignatures” that could be detected, they examined the likelihood that intelligent alien life exists at all.
The Oxford researchers examined dozens of authoritative studies about variables in the Drake Equation. The team then analyzed the results and calculated a bleak 2-in-5 chance that humans may be entirely alone in the Milky Way galaxy.

Martian 'Ghost Dunes' Could Preserve Signs of Ancient Life
Martian 'Ghost Dunes' Could Preserve Signs of Ancient Life
By Elizabeth Howell, Space.com Contributor
Could pits hold evidence of ancient Mars life? Researchers just found hundreds of crescent-shaped depressions on the surface of the Red Planet. These pits likely used to be sand dunes — each one the size of the U.S. Capitol building, according to researchers.
These 'ghost dunes' remain preserved because of their composition. Lava or sediments washed into the area with water and partially buried these dunes as it streamed around them. Like a mold, the buried part of the dune hardened over time. After wind blew the exposed sand away, the mold inside remained and showed where the full dune used to be.
And maybe life is hiding there. In a statement from the American Geophysical Union, the research team said the tip of the trailing ends of each of these dunes might have enough shelter to preserve a bit of sand. Inside this sand could be signs of ancient life, protected from the radiation-heavy Mars environment. [Boiling Blood and Radiation: 5 Ways Mars Can Kill]
The making of a ghost dune. a) Crescent-shaped barchan dunes form with the steep face away from the prevailing wind, seen with the black arrows. b) A slow-moving liquid such as lava or sediment in water flows around the dunes and buries them halfway before hardening into rock. c-e) Wind blows away the exposed sand and is directed inward to eventually mostly hollow out the pit. f) Some ancient sand may still lurk in the pits' deep crevices, protected from radiation.

"We know that dunes on Earth can support life, and dunes on Earth are very similar to dunes on Mars," lead author Mackenzie Day, a planetary geomorphologist (someone who studies planetary surface changes) at the University of Washington in Seattle, said in the statement.
"One problem that Mars has that Earth doesn't is the surface radiation. If you are inside a dune, or at the bottom of a dune, and you are microbial life, the dune is protecting you from a lot of that radiation," Day added. "There is probably nothing living there now. But if there ever was anything on Mars, this is a better place than average to look."
Similar to active dune fields
Features like this aren't unique to Mars. The first ghost dunes were found on Earth in 2016 in the Snake River Plain, in eastern Idaho. On Mars, the new study uncovered similar-looking features in Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter images of the southern hemisphere at Hellas (an ancient impact crater) and Noctis Labyrinthus (a set of deep valleys.)
The ghost dunes probably stood about 40 meters (130 feet) tall at Noctis Labyrinthus and 75 meters (246 feet) tall at Hellas basin just before they were buried. They also appear to be barchan dunes – common dune types on both Mars and Earth. Barchan dunes are crescent-shaped features that occur on flat surfaces with little sand, in zones where the wind blows mostly from one direction.
The observations also suggest these pits have a similar size and shape to active dune fields on Mars, especially because the pits are aligned in the same way as today's dunes.
"Any one of these pits is not enough to tell you that it's a dune, or from an ancient dune field. But when you put them all together, they have so many commonalities with dunes on Mars and on Earth that you have to employ some kind of fantastic explanation to explain them as anything other than dunes," Day said.
"They are all going the same way," she added, "which you would expect for dunes, because they are all migrating and forming in the same wind regime. So just the shape and size tell us that these are features that are coming from an ancient dune system." [Gullies Streak Down Mars Crater in Stunning NASA Photo]
Reconstructing the ancient environment
The ghost dunes probably were buried about 2 billion years ago, during the late Hesperian or early Amazonian period on Mars. The Hesperian is a transitional period in Martian history, when the planet changed from a wetter environment into the drier and wind-swept planet observed today. Researchers are still trying to understand why the climate changed; according to a leading hypothesis, the atmosphere thinned, making it impossible for water to flow on the surface.
The two sets of dunes might have been buried differently, the researchers said. Noctis Labyrinthus lies near previously active volcanoes, while the Hellas basin dune field is downstream of two large canyons that likely were shaped by water.
"If some of the water that carved those valleys made it downstream far enough, it could have gotten to the dune field," Day said. "The only thing that we know for sure is that the flow had to be relatively low energy, relatively slow, otherwise it would erode the dunes and we wouldn't get the shapes that we see today."
Besides giving clues of ancient life, the dunes could also show how the winds used to blow during earlier parts of Mars' history. This knowledge would help researchers better understand how sediments moved over the surface, the formation of large features and how the climate of the ancient past is different from atmospheric conditions observed today.
"The fact that the wind was different [when the ghost dunes formed] tells us that the environmental conditions on Mars aren't static over long timescales, they have changed over the past couple billion years, something we need to know to interpret the geology on Mars," Day said.
The new work was detailed June 5 in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets.
Alien-Hunting Agents Seek the Truth About UFOs in 'Project Blue Book'
Alien-Hunting Agents Seek the Truth About UFOs in 'Project Blue Book'
By Mindy Weisberger, Senior Writer
NEW YORK — During the 1950s and 1960s, were extraterrestrials visiting the United States? At the time, a spate of panicky sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) thought to be "alien" in origin were reported across the country, prompting the U.S. Air Force to create a top-secret program dedicated to the investigation of unexplained phenomenon related to UFOs.
Under the code name "Project Blue Book," the Air Force documented and scrutinized 12,000 UFO sightings from 1952 to 1969, led by J. Allen Hynek, a former astronomy professor at The Ohio State University. The project's efforts — set against a suspenseful undercurrent of political intrigue — come to life in a new dramatic television series, which shares some of the long-buried secrets of this mysterious initiative.
At a New York Comic Con (NYCC) panel on Oct. 6, actors and creators of the History channel's "Project Blue Book" introduced the audience to the story of federal agents hunting UFOs and the manipulation of the truth happening behind the scenes. Based on declassified files in the federal archive — including 700 cases of UFO-related incidents that remain unsolved — the series confronts a question that still fascinates humans decades after the project's end: Are we alone in the universe? [9 Strange, Scientific Excuses for Why Humans Haven't Found Aliens Yet]
Each of the perplexing and unsettling UFO sightings that appears in the series is based on an actual event described in the recently declassified government records, executive producer and writer Sean Jablonski told the panel audience.
"Every case you see — that really happened," Jablonski said.
One standout incident took place in Washington, D.C., in July 1952. The repeated appearance of mysterious radar blips prompted the Air Force to launch a group of fighter jets to intercept what they thought were unidentified aircraft, according to Jablonski.
But the blips vanished every time the jet fighters drew close, only to reappear when the jets pulled away from the blips' presumed location, one of the pilots reported in an oral history recorded in 1999.
The founder of "ufology"
"Project Blue Book" stars Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger in HBO's "Game of Thrones") as Hynek, the scientist recruited by the Air Force to investigate UFO sightings and related phenomena. Though Hynek was a UFO skepticwhen he began working for the Air Force, much of what he saw and heard over his years with the project defied easy explanation. Eventually, the experience transformed him into a passionate believer in UFO encounters representing possible contact with alien life, Gillen told the panel audience.
In fact, Hynek went on to become what is now known as a "ufologist" (UFO expert). He authored several books about UFOs, founded the Center for UFO Studies — a private organization for scientific UFO investigation — and served as a technical advisor for one of the most iconic films about UFOs, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (1977).
The series also reveals that working on Project Blue Book brought unexpected conflicts for Hynek. Even when his investigations of baffling UFO-related incidents raised more questions than they answered, Air Force agents pushed for debunking and quick closure, frustrating his efforts to uncover the facts about what people saw, according to Gillen.
"He just wanted to find the truth," Gillen said.
But was the U.S. government after the truth? In the show, Hynek soon learns that his Air Force colleagues aren't really interested in getting to the bottom of events that seem impossible to understand. Instead, they seek tidy, reassuring explanations that tell the public there is nothing to be alarmed about. The government's deliberate deviation from witnesses' accounts and evidence — essentially creating "the original 'fake news'" — was an integral part of the "Project Blue Book" narrative, executive producer and writer David O'Leary told the panel audience.
"On the subject of UFOs, part of the story is the cover-up, the lying, the misinformation campaign to control public perception," O'Leary said.
"Project Blue Book" premieres on the History channel on Jan. 8, 2019, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, 9 p.m. CT.
Open Minds UFO Radio: In March 1942 the military opened fire on an object that flew over Los Angeles. The incident is referred to as the Battle of Los Angels and is best-known by the icon image of searchlights converging on an object while explosions from anti-aircraft fire erupt nearby. Researcher David Marler has researched this case, and when he puts together all of the facts, media stories from the time and government documents on the incident, it is more mysterious than ever. In this episode of David shares with us what he found and why this case remains unsolved.
David is a UFO researcher and author. He’s had a lifelong interest in the subject of UFOs and joined the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) as a field investigator trainee in 1990. Since then he held several positions within MUFON before becoming an independent researcher. Since then he has written a highly regarded book on triangle shaped UFOs, Triangular UFOs: An Estimate of the Situation, and has been featured on several television programs. David has one of the most extensive personal libraries of UFO books, journals, magazines, newspapers, and case files from around the world that covers the last 65 years.

RUSSIA PLANS TO CLONE EXTINCT ANIMALS AND BUILD A REAL LIFE JURASSIC PARK
RUSSIA PLANS TO CLONE EXTINCT ANIMALS AND BUILD A REAL LIFE JURASSIC PARK
Russian scientists have begun their quest to clone prehistoric animals, including but not limited to a woolly mammoth, hoping that Siberian permafrost will give them a competitive advantage and a good possibility of finding undamaged DNA samples to resurrect the ancient species.
The new laboratory at the Mammoth Museum of the Institute of Applied Ecology at the North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk has begun searching through its vast library of samples that were found nearly perfectly preserved in the extreme cold conditions of the Arctic, according to Ogonek magazine.
Scientists hope to extract live DNA by carefully scanning through more than 2,000 rare exhibits contained in the lab, which is especially equipped to preserve tissue samples in freezers of -87 degrees Celsius. The new lab will also be used to swiftly analyze any newly found samples, without the risk of damaging them while transferring them to a distant laboratory.
The researchers’ overarching aim is to create a real-life “Jurassic Park” (or scientifically speaking a “Pleistocene Park”) full of extinct animals living in a specially designed nature reserve located on the Kolyma River in Yakutia. The project is currently aiming to recreate the pre-ice age environmental conditions, including the grasslands, by the time the extinct animals are resurrected.
Besides mammoths, scientists will focus their efforts in searching for the DNA of a woolly rhinoceros, early ancestors of bison and bulls, cave bears and cave lions.
After all, the lab’s collection includes a perfectly-preserved mummified puppy, found sealed in the Siberian permafrost after more than 12,400 years, a sample of a pre-historic 4,500 year-old horse, in addition to ancient bison species some 8,000-years-old. One of the world-s best-preserved woolly mammoths, 39,000-year-old Yuka, is also at scientists’ disposal.
Current efforts to clone ancient animals are being conducted by scientists worldwide, including at Harvard and the University of Chicago. So far they have been held back by the quality of their mammoth DNA.
Russian experts hope that they could find live DNA in its samples but anticipation remains bleak as the thawing process can destroy nuclear genetic information. On the other hand, the vast majority of all ancient animals’ soft tissues ever discovered had been found in Siberia.
Scientists hope that once extracted, the DNA would be crisscrossed with an Asian or Indian elephant to give birth to its historic predecessor. The Russian researchers are working with a Korean biotech firm Sooam and the Beijing Genomics Institute in China, utilizing their experience to ensure the success of the project.
